Oates s Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been the stories contain very different plots, but they
both have similarities between the characters Arnold Friend and Misfit. They appear to be mentally
unstable and highly selfish by only caring about their needs. For example, Where Are You Going,
Where Have You Been Arnold Friend shows his mentality and selfishness by harming the main
character Connie by being highly persistent. In A Good Man is Hard to Find the Misfit showed his
mentality and selfishness by killing the grandmother when she was trying to bring out faith and his
good side when the situation escalated when the car crashed. Regardless of these two completely
different stories, there are several similarities between the characters Arnold Friend and Misfit in their
personalities. In the story Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been Connie, the main character, is
already struggling with many things in life and sneaks her way to date guys. There was also
conflicting between her and her mother due to her mother favoring her sister, June and describing her
as someone who is a good example of what she wants Connie to be. Her father is never at home due to
work and when he is home, the girls do not relate to him. Arnold Friend is described as a dangerous
figure with his pale complexion and his slick black hair looking like trouble by not presenting himself
in a pleasing way to Connie, by not walking properly. This was an indication on how he was not in the
right state of mind and how Arnold shouldn t be near Connie. There was one scene in the story where
Arnold Friend shows up, uninvited, notifying Connie that he is not a friend, but has come to take her
away from her home to possibly kidnap her. Connie felt a wave of dizziness, rise in her at this sight
and she stared at him as if waiting for something to change the shock of the moment, make it alright
again . Connie feels safe in the house and does not come out until Arnold convinces and demands her
that she come out. Things took an unpleasant twist when Arnold tells Connie not use the phone or he
will break his promise of not coming in the house

The most common or popular type of catadioptric telescope is the Schmidt Cassegrain telescope.
Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes (SCT) are a catadioptric design, meaning they use both lenses and
mirrors. SCTs are primarily reflecting telescopes, but they use a corrector lens to eliminate aberrations
that would result from the mirror design alone. In an SCT the incoming light passes through the
Schmidt corrector lens (also called a corrector plate) at the front of telescope. It is reflected from a

I hadn t seen Chris Evans outside of his Marvel ventures and was impressed by his ability to make his
heavily flawed character seem charismatic. It s easy to see why the tail sectioners choose to follow
him; he is the the one they deem smart and driven enough to lead them to their journey s end. I can t
tell if it s the way he meant the character to be portrayed and that s just Evan s natural charismatic
nature showing through but it adds a layer to the character that makes his decisions and emotions seem
more concrete. The rest of the cast does a great job of carrying out action beats in relation to the

The Desert Observation
The observation took place on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. I conducted my observation at Little
School of the Desert, located in Twentynine Palms, CA. At this location I observed a 4 yr. old boy
named Nicholas. Nicholas is 4 yrs. old. During the observation, the child did not speak or interacted
with any other child in the class. Nicholas did not want to use the bathroom if there was another child
or a teacher close by. He did speak to his teacher at times, but most of the times, he would play in the
block area alone. Also, Nicholas moves independently, and does not require any assistive technology

Every activity he did, numbers were included. I am going to be completely honest, I probably would
have liked to know if Nicholas has been diagnosed with any disabilities. One, because I do hope he is
getting the early intervention he needs and deserves; two, because if he does not have any disability, I

Homosexual people have been misrepresented and refuted their basic civil rights in America over the
years, especially during the late 1970s. During this time, Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected
official in California, was one of the most prominent spokesman on the issues surrounding gay rights.
In 1978 he gave a speech impacting the gay citizens of San Francisco and America, the anti gay right
wing movement supporters, straight allies of the gay movement, and politicians in general. His speech
known as the Hope Speech resonates with people even today as Milk attempted to address gay rights
and the importance of electing gay officials in office, using various rhetorical strategies such as
pathos, logos, and elevated diction. As a skilled speaker, Milk bridged the gap between the majority of
his audience who were not too familiar with homosexuality and those who were. In his speech he uses
pathos to persuade people to join or at least sympathize with his cause, logos to provide a logistical
argument with reason, and ethos to increase credibility. Throughout the speech Milk uses pathos to
connect emotionally to the different audiences he is addressing. To his straight allies, he proclaims that
an ally can not be elected to represent gays because friends can t feel the anger and frustration. They
can sense it in us, but they can t feel it. Because a friend has never gone through what is known as
coming out. This topic also strikes a chord in his gay audience, as coming out is a difficult and
terrifying process. He addresses other minority groups, asking indirectly for their sympathy and
assistance, alluding to the African American civil rights movement of the sixties, and the Latin
American culture s struggles. He references Anita Bryant, an outspoken right wing activist, and tells
his audiences not to fear her or believe her, for she is wrong in her assumptions about gay people. He

Chang writes in his book about how hip hop connects with many different real world problem going

Jamaica. Due to the lack of protection Chang tells us that gangs were created as a means of protection

Bipolar Disorder is otherwise known as manic depressive illness. It is a brain disorder that causes
shifts in moods, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out daily tasks. (Cite) These changes in
behavior are outside of the norm as most people have ups and downs throughout their daily routines.
But those with Bipolar Disorder experience shifts in mood that can be damaging to relationships, as

Every time William is at the airport, he scans for little brown guys who reeked of fundamentalism
(Alexie 270). White Americans always gave William dirty looks, yet he was no different. Because
William is of Indian descent, he often gets characterized as a terrorist, but he also characterized a lot

Remakes of films are a common occurrence. Sometimes remakes are incredible and introduce a
generation to great films of the past, however, sometimes they aim too high and miss the mark
completely. Scarface 1932 and Scarface 1983 is a great example of the latter. Scarface 1932 was the
first of its kind in many respects while Scarface 1983 fell short. While at the core of both of these
films they are the same, there are a few small plot discrepancies, but the message of the rise and fall of
a man is identical. Visually these films are nothing alike. Beyond the obvious use of color in the 1983
film, the lighting, spacing, and camera work are all different. Scarface 1932 was revolutionary in its
use of low key lighting while Scarface 1983 followed typical lighting conventions. The use of
symbolism in Scarface 1932 was an added layer of complexity to the film that Scarface 1983 did not
have. One thing both films did face quite extensively was censorship. Each film had to be heavily
altered in some way in order for the public to view them. While neither film was truly in the
production code era each film felt the effects regardless. On its own Scarface 1983 is not a bad film,
but when compared to Scarface 1932 it pales in comparison. When one looks into why remakes occur
so frequently, the answer that is found is nostalgia. Gangster films stem from nostalgia much like

Some students in elementary school seem to breeze through their school years, whereas others
struggle, putting them at risk for getting lost in our educational system and not reaching their full
potential. Parents and teachers want to help students succeed, but there is little guidance as to which
