1. Annotate the poem and research:
Summary of poem:
The poem starts out with a highwayman (this is a thief who use to hold people s carriages they
usually come on horseback) visiting his girlfriend Bess who is the daughter of an innkeeper. He
s on the move (meaning he will be back the next day after he has robbed some people) so he only
has time for one kiss. But in the shadows Tim the ostler who loves Bess listens and tells the red
coats.
The next evening, instead of the highwayman, some British soldiers show up. These guys are real
jerks. They drink a bunch of beer, they tie Bess tightly with ropes and put a bayonet beneath her
chin, and after that they then wait at the windows to murder the highwayman when he comes back.
But then Bess wriggles around until she has her finger on the trigger. when she hears the
highwayman s horse, she fires the bayonet, and gives her life to warn him about the ambush. ...

How Managed Care Is A System
Managed care is a system that puts together the financing and delivery of apposite health care by
means of an all inclusive set of services (Docteur, E., Oxley, H. 2003).
Although, managed care can be considered an expansive term that covers many form of
organizations and insurance alternative that includes
Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), that provides a wide ranging option of services, over
a period f time and at a fixed rate.
Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), that consist of a group of hospitals, physicians and
providers who are in agreement with an insurer, third party administrator, employer, or other group
so as to provide health care services to covered individuals;
Point of Service Plans (POSs), that combines the features of the HMO s and PPO s. with this plan
members can select which preference they want to use at the time of service;
Indemnity or Fee for Service Plans that integrates the characteristics of managed care, while
providing the benefits in a prearranged amount for covered services;
Self Insurance Plans that allows employers and businesses assume financial liability and the
responsibilities of an insurer for their own employees.
In the last four decade, the cost of healthcare services has been on the rise, thereby leading to the
promulgation of the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 (Salmon, J. W. 1995). This act
provided the opportunity to control healthcare cost, through membership of a provider network that

Analysis Of The Constitution And The Constitution
Dahl and the Constitution James Madison and the rest of the Founders of the Constitution
undeniably founded a government that has withstood the test of time. The question that Robert
Dahl poses in How Democratic Is the American Constitution? is whether this form of government
and specifically the Constitution is as democratic as it should be and focuses on the Constitution s
shortcomings. Dahl argues that the constitution is much less democratic than it ought to be.
Madison, on the other hand, had doubts about the effectiveness and practicality of a purely
democratic form of government and fought for a republic with checks on power. I believe that the
Constitution should be evaluated according to how it serves the American population today.
Americans are raised through public schooling and popular culture to view the Constitution as
nearly infallible and those that wrote it as inspired. However, it is clearly not a perfect document.
After the bill of rights there has come about seventeen additional amendments, or small changes by
definition, to the original document. It intentionally contained no mention of one of the most
egregious aspects of American history slavery. Despite all of these things, I agree with Madison
that the Constitution needed to limit democracy in order to provide a strong enough national
government that would not endanger personal liberty. Society has changed quite a bit since the
original crafting of the Constitution in 1787 which has prompted

Acne Face Mapping
Did you know that you can determine what s happening in your body based on the pimples on
your own face? Yup, it s called acne face mapping. Your pimples are speaking to you! Listen to
them! If you frequently get zits in one area, it may be more than just your facial cleanser or a dirty
pillowcase. It could be a major healthproblem that you need to fix!
If you usually get pimples around your hairline, it s most likely the hair products you use
clogging your pores. Make sure not to use too much product trying to get those baby hairs on
fleek! Pimples on your forehead usually associate with the digestive system. Our digestive systems

Analysis Of The Case Law Of Buckley Young Ltd V.
1.Four apportionment methods
In general, there are four apportionment methods has been identified by the case law of Buckley
Young Ltd v CIR (1978) 3 NZTC 61,271 (CA) (Buckley Young Ltd v CIR , 1978), and their name
are listed in below:

пѓ A pro rata basis method (Buckley Young Ltd v CIR , 1978)

4.The meaning of to the extent ITA 2007, section DA 1
In my opinion, the phrase of to the extent in ITA 2007, section DA 1 means an item of expenditure
may be apportioned between the amount that meets the general deductibility test or the amount
which does not satisfy the test (CIR v Banks, 1978).
5a. Deferred maintenance
In this case, the client is operating a bakery, and he anticipates he will incur $6.000 in maintain his
shop over the next 12 months. But according to the section DA 2 (1) ITA 2007, it states that
deduction for any expenditure or loss to the extent that it is of a capital nature (DA 2 General
limitations, 2004). Therefore, the maintenance expenditure is caught by section DA 2 (1), due to
the maintenance expenditure has a capital nature. For that reason, the deferred maintenance of
$6,000 is not allowed to deduct.
5b. Labour cost
In this scenario, the labor cost is to print his shop in order to save some costs, and it incurred by him
in the course of carrying on his business, which is consistent with the section DA 1(b) ITA 2007
(DA 1(b) General Permission, 2004). Therefore, the labor cost $1,000 is allowed to deduct.
5c. Childcare cost
In this situation, his wife is ill and is in hospital for a week. So, he has to pay his neighbor $100,
to look after their child. Put it simply, it is a childcare cost which has a private nature. According
to the section DA 2 (2), it sets out a deduction for any expenditure or loss to the extent that it is

There Will Come Soft Rains By Ray Bradbury
The story There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury is a story about a post apocalyptic time in
the year 2026 when all humans have perished. The question at hand is why is the house the main
character of the story, and that is the question we aim to answer. With a lack of human, animate
characters Ray Bradburyaims to personify objects and being of the house. The house is automated
and functions seamlessly without human aid despite being created by human inventors and
builders. The inanimate objects and characters of the house are characterized as one and are
personified as to be the main character of Ray Bradbury s short story. The house greats the morning
by making breakfast and turning on the sprinklers the wall where the sprinkler is nearby revealed
the silhouette of a family burnt into it, the only remnants of human life in the area. The author tells
us that it is the last house standing. The first evidence of the house being personified is when the
dog enters and dies. The robotic mice enter from the wall and clean up the remnants. The house
functions effortlessly without the necessity of human beings.... Show more content on

Animal Fra As A Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm
On the surface, George Orwell s novel Animal Fra is about a group of neglected animals that
overthrow their owner and take control of their farm. However, under the surface this novel is a
allegory detailing the events of the russian revolution. Orwell wrote Animal Farm in the response
to the corruption happening during the Russian Revolution. This was his first political and
artistic purpose. The authors use of anthropomorphism and common diction leads us to believe
he intended the novel to be read by the everyday man or lay person. Orwell wrote this as a
warning to the readers with its central theme that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts. The
author uses a detached 3rd person narrative to describe the events as they unfold in the story.
While Orwell uses many stylistic devices in Animal Farm the two that impact the reader the most
while developing the message are symbolism and irony.Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses ( or
blends) his political and artistic purpose into a single powerful work of art in his short novel
Animal Farm.
George Orwell s essay Why I Write is a small bibliography about his experiences with writing and
how his writing has changed overtime. In this he also includes some of the 4 purposes of writing.
Orwell wrote this because he wants to explain the purpose of his writing while also informing them
on the other true purposes of why writers write. The author s essay is intended for upcoming

Essay on Health of People Living in Rural Australia
Background:
Living in a remote area has always been thought to have negative influences on the individual.
There are 35 % of the total population in Australia living in rural area(Phillips, 2009).Rural areas in
Australia and all over the world are not geographically isolated and disadvantaged only but also
culturally and economically deprived which has great consequences on the health status of the
population. The main two factors that have a major effect on rural health are socioeconomic status
and cultural issues(Beard, Tomaska, Earnest, Summerhayes, Morgan, 2009).
People living in rural areas are experiencing highly limited excess to health care facilities either

The Australian government realized that there is something different about rural health that
requires special actions. This realization was the reason for the development of rural health
policies. The aim of the policies is to insure equivalent access to good health and health care for
people in rural places. The implementation of this policies was highly challenged by different
factors including political and community reactions and therefore the outcome of the policy is
affected also (Farmer Currie, 2009) .
Rural health has been always a major concern for different parties in Australia. Various groups are
involved in the process of decision making in order to insure that health care system is accessible
and equitable to every person in Australia including those in rural areas. Examples of these groups
are:
Department of Health and Ageing
National Rural Health Alliance
Rural health workforce Australia
AIHW (Australian institute of health and welfare)

History Of American Comic Comics Superheroes
History of American Comic Book Superheroes.
Before they become significant box office phenomena and debut for TV serious, superheroes were
short stories in printed media. Supermen, Batman, Captain America, Wonder Woman ...were comic
books superheroes. The idea of superheroes was long existed. However, as many comic books
historians agreed, The Phantom, published in February 17, 1936, is considered to be the first
comic book costumed hero. Since then, comic books superheroes were booming. In the mid 1940s,
collectively, American comic books publishers sold between eighty million to hundred million
copies every week. Though there is a difference on the span of years, historians divided the history
of comic books superheroes into periods. Starting from the first golden age, this paper will point out
and discuss the major historical events and phenomena that American superheroes comic books
went through time.
Golden Age
Some scholars claimed the period spans from 1938 to 1949 and others say up to 1956. Despite
its range of year s controversy, they all agreed that, during this period the popularity of comic
books reached its peak, both in terms of commercial success and cultural significance. The starting
point for this period is usually associated with the coming of man in a red and blue costume, lifting
a car over his head Superman. Superman was the first comic superhero character to have powers far
beyond a normal human being. Consequently, the arrival of Batman, Wonder

Photosynthesis is the processes that captures energy from the sunlight to male sugars that store
chemical energy. and cell respiration releases chemical energy from sugars and other carbon based
molecules to make atp when oxygen is presented. and atp is the molecule that transfers energy
from the breakdown of food molecules to cell processes. With all of these process they work
together to capture energy by the sun and convert it into everyg of life. It starts with the
photosynthesis. First, the carbon dioxideand oxygenwill enter the leaves in plants through the

Studies teacher who is currently teaching U.S. History to eighth grade students. She has been
teaching for thirteen years. The second teacher I observed is an eighth grade Math teacher, Mrs.
Knox. Mrs. Knox is in her twenty first year of teaching. Mrs. Knox is an amazing teacher. The
Common Core Standards for math are very challenging. The way the schedule is set up at North
Haven Middle School, the math teacher teachers 5 classes a day. One class is designed to be an
accelerated class, one is a math lab which is an additional class for struggling math learners. The
other three fall somewhere in between. The class I was able to observe was one of these middle
range math classes. The dynamics within the class varied from a couple students who excel in math
to struggling math learners. A few of the students in this class also attend the math lab while others
receive special educationservices. Mrs. Knox is able to consider the needs of all her students when
teaching. She reviews information multiple times to ensure an understanding of the math processes.

The Impact of the Affordable Care Act on North Carolina s Uninsured Population The Affordable

after Medicare and Medicaid. The main goals of ACA were to decrease the number of uninsured

Divinity Of Jesus Research Paper
In this section we will explore the different proposals to the issue of the humanity and divinity of
Jesus (the horizontal axis), which was later classified as heresies, and the orthodox positions
defined by the Council of Nicea convened to settle this issue (refer to Lesson 5 for discussion on
Docetism).
1.1 Arianism: Glorious Human Nature; God like Nature
Arius of Alexandria (ca. 250 336) believed God is absolutely transcendent, therefore He could not
be involved in His creation to the limitation of a body. Thus Jesus could not be fully divine. He
further taught that an earthly father precedes his son, so the Heavenly Father preceded Jesus, thus
Jesus had a beginning and is not eternal in existence. Jesus is not of the same substance as ... Show

310 390) protested against the idea of a man joined with God. He said this results in two sons: the
Son of God and the Son of Mary. In Apollinarius understanding the flesh is not a separate complete
living entity; unlike other humans who depend on the human soul for movement and action, Jesus
body depended on the divine logos for movement and action. Thus, Jesus is not completely human
because he does not have a human soul, spirit, or mind (Dorman 2001: 157).
In Apollinarius understanding Jesus is more divine than human. The humanity of Jesus is
absorbed into His divinity. There are two implications arising from Apollinarius s fusion of the
Word and flesh. First, he regarded Jesus flesh as being glorified. It is now divine flesh or the flesh
of God. Second, since Jesus flesh cannot be separated from the Word, He becomes a proper object
of worship.
What are the objections to Apollinarius views? First, it was a docetic perspective: Jesus was not
really a man but only appeared to be such. Second, because the psychological aspect of the human
nature was missing, Jesus was not human. Third, if Jesus did not assume full humanity, His
redemptive work was undermined. How could a divine will s resistance to sin achieve our
salvation from sin? Jesus had to be fully human with a human will and human limitations to save us

Making The Hummingbird Robots
As a team, David, Mackenzie, Lilly and I worked together to create a robot. The goal of our robot
was to pick a penny up off of the table and place it in the box with just a click of a button. The
materials used were cardboard and scrap metal, which we used to build a majority of the robot. To
make the robotfunction we used the Hummingbird Robotics Kit. We used duct tape to make the
penny sticky so it was able to be picked up. My group worked very hard for this robot to work. A
few problems we faced with the robot was how big of a piece of tape to use to pick up the penny
and what kind of tape to use, and with the timing of how much string to rotate back and forth for
the string to move and how much to make it turn. With the website we had to use to program the

Pros And Cons Of Poaching
Stopping poaching is not just in the interests of animals... it is in the interest of us, and in the
interests of our humanity. Stated by the International Anti Poaching Foundation (Problem).
Poaching rates, as large as they are, are growing rapidly and have yet to slow down in the past
years. People are willing to do whatever it takes to poach an animal, since the amount ivorysells for
has grown tremendously. There are many different alternatives to ivory so there is no reason for
the poaching rates to rise. Most people don t even realize that poaching affects our ecosystems in
numerous ways. To stop poaching would be to end all the suffering these animals feel almost every
day.

Winners and Losers in the Contemporary International Trade...
Who are the winners and losers in the contemporary international trade regime and how do
international institutions affect this distribution?
This essay will provide an analysis on the nature and consequences of winning and losing in the
global trading regime, not limited to the international distribution of gains and losses from trade,
but also looking at domestic distribution of wealth as a consequence from e ngaging in the
traditionally neo liberal global trading regime. Such an analysis will be done through specific
cases, and will illustrate how free trade reforms impact people of different countries in different
ways. This essay will also continuously examine the importance of the international institutions in

These types of market liberalisations, but market de regulation in particular, are the things that neo
liberal economists argue are the key reasons behind the incredible increase in international trade
between from the end of the Second World War onwards (O brien and Williams, 2010: 168), and at
first glance, it does seem credible that the trade reforms introduced through the GATT (General
Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) would lead to increased trade, especially in Europe during the post
war period. However, Strange (1985: 241) argues that was in fact prosperity itself, brought about
through the Mars hall Plan and the economic injections into the European economy that permitted
that liberalization to exist. By turning the trade liberalization arguments this way, one can start
questioning the true intentions behind trade liberalization. If the European states needed prosperity
before embracing trade liberalization, can one argue that trade will bring about wealth?
According to neo liberal economics, trade liberalization will lead to wealth for all countries involve
d in the global trading regime however that is not the case in the contemporary international trading

Child Labor In India
Child labor in India is causing human rights of children to be violated. Child labor is the illegal
use of children in a business or organization. Child labor is inhumane and is a human rights
violation because it takes away the childhood experience and forces them to do work that is
harmful to their bodies and to their minds. In India, there are approximately 1.3 billion people
and other problems in the country are making it hard for the government to find time to make a
solution to illegal child labor. The child labor in India is the result of debt bondage from
families, kidnappings, lack of education, and lack of government intervention. Debt bondage is a
major contributing factor to illegal child labor in India. Debt bondage is when a family borrows
a sum of money or takes a loan and sends someone to work with them to pay off the debt and
interest. This system sounds good in theory, but has never really worked out because debt
bondage occurs when a person needing money pledges his/her labor, or that of someone under his
/her control as an exchange for the loan ( International Child Labor Study ). In some situations the
interest on the loan is so high that it cannot be paid; in others, the laborer is deemed to repay the
interest on the loan but not the actual money borrowed ( International Child Labor Study ). The
loan being inherited and it ends up becoming a debt among many generations. Children are being

Ratio Analysis Report
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of the following report is to aid Over the Hill Pty Ltd in planning the direction that the
company may want to go over the next few years. The report entails a financial analysis and
summaries, which will give the executive board an understanding of how well the current managing
director is performing, and whether his contract should be renewed.
Figures were obtained from comparative balance sheets and profit and loss statements from the
relevant years as well as additional information that was forwarded by the board. This information
enabled the development of percentage and ratio analysis (see appendices), which was then used to
create the report.

The receivables turnover has significantly decreased over the three year period and has indicated
an improvement in the crediting procedures that have been developed within the company. The
average collection period has decreased significantly to an average of 42 days, which enables the
company to use this money within the business at an earlier stage.
Poor sales and lower inventory balances in 2001 contributed to the inventory turnover dropping to
almost 3 times a year. This improved slightly in 2002 as sales picked up within the business. This
does affect the liquidity but does not have a real damaging effect to the products sold due to the
nature of the business (antiques).
The liquidity ratios do indicate that Over the Hill Pty Ltd is in a stable position and is a
reasonably liquid business. This would need to be carefully observed over time tough to guarantee
the short term obligations of the business.

The debt and Equity ratios are valuable tools used to indicate asset protection and therefore the long
term stability of the company. Over the Hill Pty Ltd had a strong long term position in 2000 due to
the smaller amount of liabilities it had. As these liabilities have grown, the assets have fluctuated
slightly but have not increased much in the three year

Bending Space and Time Essay
The bending of time and space is usually reserved for science fiction and the dreams of young
kids who enjoy the thoughts and fantasy of being great space captains and saving the galaxy.
Now if we imagine both time and space being physical things, thing that could be changed, or
bent, to our will, we will get the basis of the idea we are trying to present. Spaceis already viewed as
physical, as space doesn t necessarily mean the Final Frontier but as the area around us and all
that it contains, but we don t have the capability of being able to alter it in any great way, only use
it has it was given to us. Timeis seen not as a thing at all, but a perception of the world, or space,

Now bend that paper in half so those two points are right on top of each other and imagine (since
you can t draw this one) the line representing the new shortest distance. Now consider, if you will,
being able to do with actual space itself. Bending the entire universe, and this time I mean
physically bending it to be able to change the shortest distance to such a distance that it s like
being able to take a step there, but since physically bending it is even weirder, we re
metaphysically bending it by sending broken up particles to another point where they will be
reconstructed into the item originally broken up. One could even argue that in this process the
original is copied and destroyed and an entirely new one walks away, or if it isn t a live thing, a
new one is obtained, but in such perfect detail to the original, or if this isn t its first time it s
gone, a perfect copy of another perfect copy, meaning that there would be no complications
caused by moving a copy. But we re humans, and once this technology is real, it is my own
personal belief that this won t be a perfect process. So space is a physical thing that can be
represented by say, a piece of paper, and then that piece of paper can be physically bent to describe
the physical to metaphysical relationship to how it works when someone would bend it to make the
shortest distance between the two points event shorter. Now we can discuss how time works, which

CHIPS settles 1.5 trillion dollars and currently CHIPS has a network of 50 Bank participants

from client B and client B requests for the payment. Therefore client A calls his bank and says I
need to pay 1 million dollars to client B , and he gives the bank 1 million dollars. Now, client A s
bank has to transfer 1 million dollars to client B s bank. How does client A s bank transfer the
money to client B s bank, you may ask? Well the answer is through CHIPS. CHIPS will open a
CHIPS account for each participant (client A and client B) and the CHIPS account consists of a
primary account and supplemental account. The primary account is a funding requirement for each
participant and the supplemental account is the account for the payment. In this case referring to

Importance Of Proofs Of Teaching Mathematical Proofs
For many math students around the world, proofs are dreaded; they are seen as pointless
memorization of obvious ideas. These are most student s beliefs because they have never truly
been taught or experienced the true purposes of proofs. Zaslavsky, Nickerson, Stylianides, Kidron,
and Winicki Landman (2012) write to discuss the importance of teaching mathematical proofs in
school. They continue on to express reasons why students need proofs and the multiple ways in
which teachers can facilitate the learning and importance of proofs to their students. Zaslavsky et
al. (2012) cite numerous reasons for the importance of proofs, but the most prominent reasons
include strengthening student s ability to communicate mathematical knowledge, to instill
problem solving skills and methods, and lastly, to fulfill human intellectual needs. Each of these
reasons have been supported by research, and also come with challenges and concerns. The
most basic reason Zaslavsky et al. (2012) cite as to why proofs should be taught in school is
because doing so can increase and strengthen student s abilities to communicate mathematical
knowledge. Most students are more than capable of applying formulas and solving the problems
presented to them in classes with a little practice. A majority of these students, however, have no
clue as to why the methods they are using work, or if they will work with any set of numbers they
are presented (Yopp, 2009). Proof researcher David Yopp (2009) has observed

the Immigrants, fall deeply into this category. The situations and struggles they have gone through

Bacon was a white indentured servant who was frustrated in the ways of society. He decided to
rebel creating the giddy multitude, [pg. 78] a group of white and black indentured servants who
had enough, due to not being able to succeed in the fantasy life people created in America. This
group greatly threatened the social order of Virginia. When the group had been defeated it became
obvious to Captain Thomas Grantham that they needed to reduce their dependency on white
laborers and focus more on Africans of which they could capture, and exploit. This also worked
out in the best interest of the people of Virginia because they could deny the Africans right to bear
arms due to their race. Africa became their primary source of labor. In 1674 slaves represented
only 20% of households and by 1694 slaves represented about 48% of households, nearly half the
population.
The American people did not see the African Americanpeople as people; rather beings that they
could make plow their land, or farm their crops. It was always about them. As it was with the
Indians, the American people used the African American people for their own personal gain. They
also still believed in their theory of keeping America white and having people different from them
served as a threat they decided to squash before any damage could be done.
The Immigrants that came to America experienced much similar situations with American abuse.

The Story Of Miss And Me Essay
As the world turns, people come and go. Beginning life as a small child and eventually adopting
the ways of the older people around us and thus complete the cycle of life. In the story of Miss
and Me Mandible Bartholomew merges the mind of an adult with the body of a child who takes on
a controversial role. While the childpossessed the knowledge and the sense of a full grown man
he was looked upon as a mere child who could not make wholesome decisions. This unique

Would people rather be naГЇve children with no responsibilities or knowledgeable adults with

but no identity. Children barely have a self concept of who they as they are generally attached to

Definition Of Clinical Governance And Accountability
Introduction:
Within this assignment, the definition of clinical governance and accountability will be explored
and discussed using a literature search. A case example will be used and briefly discuss the
accountability of the nurse and other health professionals of professional standards, local polices
and law. Confidentiality has been maintained within the use of the case example.
A literature search was carried out for clinical governance using the British Nursing Index (BNI).
Results originated from 9,616 when Clinical Governance was inputted. Results reduced
significantly when definition of clinical governance was inputted to 1,278 into the BNI titles
were read, before articles were chosen for abstracts to be read. After abstracts were read, if
appropriate the full articles were read (see appendices 1). Clinical governance was first introduced
by the World Health Organisation (WHO) (Som, 2009) . Som, (2004) definition of clinical
governance focuses on Managing systems to improve outcomes of health care service delivery, the
WHO (1998) definition also focuses on improving health care services but additionally focuses on
professional performance, resource allocation risk management and patient satisfaction. Department
of Health (DoH) (1998) has described clinical governance as a framework which focuses on
accountability of health care services to improve services. Scally and Donaldson (1998) used the
same definition in 1998. A contemporary definition from Nutbeam

Diabetes Essay examples
Diabetes
Diabetes, Diabetes Mellitus, is a chronic illness this means that it has no cure and the symptoms
persist over a long period of time. This illness is a result of an imbalance of hormones, insulin,
produced in the pancreas. Insulin plays an important role in how the body uses food. Insulin
enables the cells in the bloodstream to absorb and use glucose for fuel. If the pancreas produces
too little or no insulin or if the insulin doesn t work properly the person may become diabetic.
Therefore, diabetics are not able to properly convert food into fuels needed by the body to function,
which can seriously lead to physical consequences.

But, the insulin can still seep out through the beads.
Normally the level of glucose in the body rises after a person eats a meal. This rise in blood
glucose stimulates the beta cells to release insulin. Insulin then either helps body cells take up
glucose to use as energy or promotes the conversation of glucose to fat, which are used by the
cells later. Some glucose maybe stored in the liver this is called glycogen. Then the level of
glucose drops (usually several hours after the meal has been eaten), other cells in the pancreas
stimulate the conversion of glycogen to glucose and its release into the bloodstream. In this way,
the level of glucose in the bloodstream stays relatively constant until the next meal is eaten.
The body tends to deal with this imbalance by filtering out excess glucose throughout the kidneys,
resulting in high levels of sugar in the urine. As glucose level rises the kidneys over whelmed and
don t function normally. They lose their ability to absorb much water the result is frequent
urination. This is commonly the earliest sign of diabetes. It is often followed by unquenchable
thirst as the body tries to regain the lost fluids. It often seems that more fluid comes out than went
in.
The name diabetes mellitus describes two striking symptoms of disease. The first part of the name,
meaning a siphon or drain, seems

Reflection For California History
This summer I have had the pleasure to intern for California History, an academic journal which
publishes research on the complex history of California from many different perspectives.
During the course of my internship, I have completed various projects involving analysis,

Purpose For A Retirement Plan
RETIREMENT PLANNING
CASE STUDY (PART 3)
Purpose for a Retirement Plan
Retirement Planning is the process of determining retirement income goals and the actions primary
to achieve those goals. It includes identifying the sources of retirement income, estimating future
retirement expenses, managing the assets and implementing a savings plan. A future cash flow
statement is prepared to determine whether the goals can be achieved or not. The primary purpose
of a retirement plan is to provide financial stability so people can leave their full time jobs after
retirement.
Financial planning is a 6 step process and also examines 6 components. The 6 steps are as follows:
1.Establishing and defining the client planner relationship: The planner informs the client about the
services to be provided and defines his or her responsibilities along with the responsibilities of the
client.
2.Gathering client data and determining goals: The planner learns about the client s financial
situation, goals and risk tolerance. This primarily involves gathering all the data.
3.Analyzing and evaluating client s financial status: The planner analyses the client s financial
situation and determines what must be done in order to achieve the goals of the client.
4.Developing and presenting alternatives to the client: The planner provides the clients with
various alternatives to achieve the goals, based on the information provided by the client. The

1988 Bicentenary celebrations. In this broadly applicable play, Davis highlights the discrimination
against Aborigines between 1929 and 1934 and particularly its justification under the government
policy of `protectionism . Focusing on the experiences of the Millimurra family, No Sugar
underscores the view of Aborigines as uncivilized, the attempt to assimilate them to white culture
through Aboriginal reserves such as the Moore River Settlement, and the resilience and
determination of Aborigines faced with almost complete disempowerment. A fundamental concern
of No Sugar is the notion of the definition of poweralong racial lines. This... Show more content on

Further, the exploitation of Aborigines for slave labor whilst they are being `protected in Moore
River is highlighted when Joe returns from prison with gifts and comments that he `earned a
view bob and they gave it to [him] when [he] got out. Not like this place . Here, it is seen that it
is the prerogative of Whites to decide when monetary reward for labor is received by Aborigines.
In 1985, an Aboriginal audience would have viewed this as a notable example of disempowerment.
Existence in a 1980 s growingly capitalist Australia dictated that economic self sufficiency was of
vast importance. Whilst Aboriginal employment was still less that of the White majority, labor had
equal value. In the approach to Australia s bicentenary, an Aboriginal audience would have seen the
recognition of this disempowerment as imperative, and moreover, would have gained a measure of
empowerment from the focus on injustices of the past. A contemporary Aboriginal audience would
be more aware of a measure of stagnation in the economic circumstances of Aborigines, still reliant
on government `hand outs to an extent. Both original and contemporary White audiences of No
Sugar would have probably been shocked by the strict and discriminatory economic restrictions
imposed on Aborigines. However, some

Comparing Christmas In The USAd Iraq
Each culture has its way of celebrating Christmas. Millions of people celebrate Christmas around
the world. It is a very happy occasion which comes with gifts, decorations and the spirit of
Christmas. There are some differences between Christmas celebrations in the U.S and Iraq. These
differences include the date of celebration, the decorations and the type of food the two cultures
serve on ChristmasDay.
First, Christmas is celebrated in the U.S on December 25th. On December 25th, families in the U.S
exchange gifts. Some families put a lot of gifts under the Christmas tree for their family members.
Families go to church and have a family feast. Most Americans believe that Jesus was born on the
25th of December, and that s why most Americans

Ethics Of Designer Babies
Parents are given the option to modify their baby s genes through the technique of designer
babies. However, there are ethical concerns about whether the practice of designer babies will be
used for the intended purpose. Since the parents are the ones deciding their baby s genes, they are
able to choose according to their preferences. Therefore, it gives parents the option to decide their
babies appearance and personality. Thus, it leads to the controversial aspect of genderselection
through the technology of designer baby as the sex of a child at birth can be prearranged by
choosing embryos for a specific sexual trait (Verlinsky, 2005, p. 24). Parents can now easily select
the sex of their baby through this technology. In addition, parents ... Show more content on

However, the concept of designer babies is still relatively new; thus, it raise concerns about the
safety of this technique. Also, the process of designer babies has only been experimented on
rabbits and rats, so it has yet to be tested on humans. Therefore, there could be hidden risks and
side effects for humans that have yet to be discovered until after the procedure is completed.
The issue of competence emerges because patients must understand the treatment involved and
the potential side effects, as well as the probability of possible outcomes (Morrison and Furlong,
2014, p. 262). The editing of the genome is still a mystery as there could be unexplored
territories. There could be the possibility of cleaving the wrong genes and as a result serious side
effects may occur when necessary genes are sliced. In addition, unpredictable consequences may
occur in future generations, so prospective problems may not always appear until the birth of the
baby (Pang and Ho, 2016). Thus, it raises the risk of the emergence of new types of diseases or
disabilities if genes are edited. It will be difficult to tell when problems arise during the process
and it may eventually show up only once the irreversible procedure is completed. Furthermore,
the success rate of impregnation is lower than most would like, harvesting eggs from the woman a
procedure not without burdens may have to be done multiple times (Suter, 2007, p. 930). Women
will have to undergo the risk of implantation even though it is not guaranteed that she will become
pregnant as a result. The cost of this procedure is quite significant, but there is still a chance that
the process may not work or is ineffective. Therefore, it is not possible to know the potential risks
until it emerges, so it questions the safety of designer babies because there is still more to learn
about the technique since it is still

Phantom Limb Syndrome Summary
Dr. Ramachandran has devised an experiment that he says has to be tested on many more patients
with phantom limb syndrome before he can be certain that it will help amputees with phantom
limb pain. He uses what he calls a mirror box , testing this with another patient named James
Peacock who lost his right hand and has severe pain in his missing hand and as though the
missing hand is constantly clenching. Dr. Ramachandran explains that this patients brain is
sending signals to his missing limb trying to clench it, but because the limb isn t there is unable
to send messages back to the brain letting it know that it s clenching too much or too fast. He
theorized, That maybe the brain can be fooled by visual feedback? So, taking a wooden box
dividing it with a mirror that is facing the limb... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brain is then fooled when the visual feedback sends signals to the brain making it believe the
hand is unclenched and in turn helped to stop James pain in his phantom limb.
Another patient of Dr. Ramachandran is Gram Young, who at the age of 8 lost his sight in a
road accident that caused brain damage to main visual center which takes up half of the large
region in the back of the brain. Gram explained that he would walk into things as big as pillars
much like those at a train station because he couldn t see them, but he can still see. It s a very
rare paradoxical condition referred to as blind sight. This condition allows the patient to detect a
thing, but isn t aware of what it is. Gram can see to the left, but is blind to everything on the right
in both eyes. To test this Collin Blakemore an Oxford scientist, used a panel divided by line down
the middle, the left side white, while the right side a light blue, of which Gram couldn t see. When
placing something in Gram s field of vision on the left he can see it if

Globalization Effects on Jamaica and Thailand Essay
Globalization Effects on Jamaica and Thailand
Introduction Globalization through dam building (for electricity) and tourism (for economic
security), has imposed positive and negative effects on many countries and cultures. This paper
focuses on tourisms impact on Jamaica and the consequences dams have had in Thailand. For both
countries globalization has had both advantages and disadvantages.
Tourisms Effect on Jamaica Globalization through tourismhas had a significant effect on Jamaica.
Originally, tourism was intended to profit the country by tourist spending. It was believed the
economy would grow from an increase in job availability. Also, the conjecture of most Jamaicans

Although there were advantages for the Thailand people, for many Thai it has had more negative
than positive effects. Major Challenges in balancing the benefits of clean electricity, water storage
and flood control from the dams against negative impacts. These include population displacement,
obstruction to fish movements up and down the river, and changes in water and sediment flow .
(Richardson, Michael 2009). The disadvantages began to out way the advantages. Building of Pac
Moon Dam and other Dams have affected Thailand in several other adverse methods. It severely
decreased fish up to 60%. According to the Foundation for Ecological Recovery, the rivers
fishing industry alone is worth up to 3 billion annually, and the existing dams are already
decreasing that profit. (Blake, Haley 2009). Whole species became extinct. The river had 50
different rapids that flowed with river dependent fish. Riverbank vegetation, Bamboo, and
mushrooms began to disappear. Liver fluke, Blood fluke, and Schistosomiasis increased due to
stagnant water. Villagers were dependent on income generated from fish, bamboo and
mushrooms. Food and income deteriorated. Many Villagers moved away. Their lives and
livelihood depended on the river. The people of Pac Moon Dam had already experienced the ill
ecosystem change from past dams built as expressed in

Personal Narrative-Arachnid Analysis
I enjoy and am talented at paperfolding. It is hard for me to say whether hundreds of hours of
origami or hands and a brain well built for it allowed me to develop abilities such as folding
blindfolded, memorizing complex designs, and visualizing detailed folding sequences.
Origami artists defy the constraint of only being able to fold paper in the most spectacular way
possible. Insects are a coveted form that have lots of long, spindly appendages a perfect foil to the
no cuts constraint. When I was younger, my dream was to design origami bugs. When I was nine,
I invented a simple arachnid. I created dozens of other arthropods in middle school. I began to use
computer assisted and mathematical techniques to refine my many appendaged designs.

The Kneeling Statue Of Hatshepsut
The Kneeling Statue of Hatshepsut is from the Eighteenth Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, located in
Deir el Bahri, and is dated around 1473 1478 BCE. This statue is 8 6 tall and is completely made
of red granite. The statue shows Hatshepsut kneeling on both knees with each hand holding a
sphere. However, Hatshepsutis known as a female ruler, but this statue and including other statues,
she is represented as a male ruler. Upon closer inspection, her shoulders are broad, she is wearing
a linen headdress, and a fake beard which is typical for a male ruler to wear. Also, the inscription,

Compare And Contrast Charlie Chaplin And Buster Keaton
Both Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin have a very disparate audience and appeal to different
types of people. Charlie Chaplin s comedy is well suited for anyone who enjoys lively, cheerful
and slapstick comedy. This is the majority of people, therefore Chaplin would have had a much
larger audience. In a time period where there was war and the great depression, people would have
probably gravitated towards Chaplin more than Keaton. Chaplin s Little Tramp image was far more
recognized than Keaton s image. At the peak of his popularity, his mustachioed screen persona, the
Tramp, was said to be the most recognized image in the world. (Vishnevetsky, AVclub.com) But,
Keaton had, and still has, a large audience as well. Many did not understand

Gender Roles Of Women Before World War II
Before World War II, women were typically seen as wives and mothers. A majority of jobs were
saved for men and it was very uncommon for a woman to have a job that was outside of the
house, especially if they were married. The need to prepare for war was so strong that political
and social leaders agreed that both women and men have to change their perceptions of genderroles
at least as long as there was a national emergency ( Changing Images 1). America s view on the
womanwas about to entirely change. Women were about to change the typical stereotype and prove
to men that they could do anything they could.
With men getting drafted into the war, there was a huge need to fill their jobs. Women began to
take on occupations that were traditionally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Does Williams Present Lust In Poetry
Love and literary works of poetry have been used together to portray one s feeling of admiration
or longing towards someone or something. Lust is typically looked down upon and with caution;
on the other hand, it can be seen as the protagonist of different verses. Imagist poet William Carlos
Williams approach to love is one society deems unconventional. There are rare occurrences where
both of these emotions are used simultaneously to describe what a person once shared with another
person. In his poem The Young Housewife, the underlying tone of lust can lead one to conclude
that a secret and past relationship, full of love and lust, existed between the speaker and a woman.
Williams uses both free verse and a descriptive choice of words, as... Show more content on

Williams poem The Young Housewife not only grants the reader visual stimulus, but also leaves
one wondering the truth behind the work. The poem begins with the speaker seeing the housewife
in her nightgown through the window, at ten A.M., and within that moment she walked outside
her house still dressed in her negligee. This suggests that the young housewife saw the speaker of
the poem driving past her house through the window. When the speaker mentions the housewife
was uncorseted, it indicates the lust the speaker has imagined when her body was seen since
being uncorseted has to do with the noticing and looking the upper body of a woman. The
speaker describes the young housewife tucking in the strands of her hair showing that the speaker
of the poem was able to get a look at the young housewife s appearance. The entire poem emits the
sensation of a brief moment of lust between the speaker and housewife as they drive by slowly
listening only to the sound of leaves crackling in that instant of

  • 4. Analysis Of The Constitution And The Constitution Dahl and the Constitution James Madison and the rest of the Founders of the Constitution undeniably founded a government that has withstood the test of time. The question that Robert Dahl poses in How Democratic Is the American Constitution? is whether this form of government and specifically the Constitution is as democratic as it should be and focuses on the Constitution s shortcomings. Dahl argues that the constitution is much less democratic than it ought to be. Madison, on the other hand, had doubts about the effectiveness and practicality of a purely democratic form of government and fought for a republic with checks on power. I believe that the Constitution should be evaluated according to how it serves the American population today. Americans are raised through public schooling and popular culture to view the Constitution as nearly infallible and those that wrote it as inspired. However, it is clearly not a perfect document. After the bill of rights there has come about seventeen additional amendments, or small changes by definition, to the original document. It intentionally contained no mention of one of the most egregious aspects of American history slavery. Despite all of these things, I agree with Madison that the Constitution needed to limit democracy in order to provide a strong enough national government that would not endanger personal liberty. Society has changed quite a bit since the original crafting of the Constitution in 1787 which has prompted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Deferred maintenance In this case, the client is operating a bakery, and he anticipates he will incur $6.000 in maintain his shop over the next 12 months. But according to the section DA 2 (1) ITA 2007, it states that deduction for any expenditure or loss to the extent that it is of a capital nature (DA 2 General limitations, 2004). Therefore, the maintenance expenditure is caught by section DA 2 (1), due to the maintenance expenditure has a capital nature. For that reason, the deferred maintenance of $6,000 is not allowed to deduct. 5b. Labour cost In this scenario, the labor cost is to print his shop in order to save some costs, and it incurred by him in the course of carrying on his business, which is consistent with the section DA 1(b) ITA 2007 (DA 1(b) General Permission, 2004). • 9. Animal Fra As A Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm On the surface, George Orwell s novel Animal Fra is about a group of neglected animals that overthrow their owner and take control of their farm. However, under the surface this novel is a allegory detailing the events of the russian revolution. Orwell wrote Animal Farm in the response to the corruption happening during the Russian Revolution. This was his first political and artistic purpose. The authors use of anthropomorphism and common diction leads us to believe he intended the novel to be read by the everyday man or lay person. Orwell wrote this as a warning to the readers with its central theme that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts. The author uses a detached 3rd person narrative to describe the events as they unfold in the story. While Orwell uses many stylistic devices in Animal Farm the two that impact the reader the most while developing the message are symbolism and irony.Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses ( or blends) his political and artistic purpose into a single powerful work of art in his short novel Animal Farm. George Orwell s essay Why I Write is a small bibliography about his experiences with writing and how his writing has changed overtime. In this he also includes some of the 4 purposes of writing. Orwell wrote this because he wants to explain the purpose of his writing while also informing them on the other true purposes of why writers write. Thus, Jesus is not completely human because he does not have a human soul, spirit, or mind (Dorman 2001: 157). In Apollinarius understanding Jesus is more divine than human. The humanity of Jesus is absorbed into His divinity. There are two implications arising from Apollinarius s fusion of the Word and flesh. First, he regarded Jesus flesh as being glorified. First, it was a docetic perspective: Jesus was not really a man but only appeared to be such. Second, because the psychological aspect of the human nature was missing, Jesus was not human. Stated by the International Anti Poaching Foundation (Problem). Poaching rates, as large as they are, are growing rapidly and have yet to slow down in the past years. People are willing to do whatever it takes to poach an animal, since the amount ivorysells for has grown tremendously. There are many different alternatives to ivory so there is no reason for the poaching rates to rise. Most people don t even realize that poaching affects our ecosystems in numerous ways. To stop poaching would be to end all the suffering these animals feel almost every day. East Africa is the current hotspot for poaching. However, Strange (1985: 241) argues that was in fact prosperity itself, brought about through the Mars hall Plan and the economic injections into the European economy that permitted that liberalization to exist. By turning the trade liberalization arguments this way, one can start questioning the true intentions behind trade liberalization. Child labor is inhumane and is a human rights violation because it takes away the childhood experience and forces them to do work that is harmful to their bodies and to their minds. In India, there are approximately 1.3 billion people and other problems in the country are making it hard for the government to find time to make a solution to illegal child labor. The child labor in India is the result of debt bondage from families, kidnappings, lack of education, and lack of government intervention. Debt bondage is a major contributing factor to illegal child labor in India. Debt bondage is when a family borrows a sum of money or takes a loan and sends someone to work with them to pay off the debt and interest. This system sounds good in theory, but has never really worked out because debt bondage occurs when a person needing money pledges his/her labor, or that of someone under his /her control as an exchange for the loan ( International Child Labor Study ). In some situations the interest on the loan is so high that it cannot be paid; in others, the laborer is deemed to repay the interest on the loan but not the actual money borrowed ( International Child Labor Study ). Now if we imagine both time and space being physical things, thing that could be changed, or bent, to our will, we will get the basis of the idea we are trying to present. Spaceis already viewed as physical, as space doesn t necessarily mean the Final Frontier but as the area around us and all that it contains, but we don t have the capability of being able to alter it in any great way, only use it has it was given to us. Now consider, if you will, being able to do with actual space itself. Bending the entire universe, and this time I mean physically bending it to be able to change the shortest distance to such a distance that it s like being able to take a step there, but since physically bending it is even weirder, we re metaphysically bending it by sending broken up particles to another point where they will be reconstructed into the item originally broken up. One could even argue that in this process the original is copied and destroyed and an entirely new one walks away, or if it isn t a live thing, a new one is obtained, but in such perfect detail to the original, or if this isn t its first time it s gone, a perfect copy of another perfect copy, meaning that there would be no complications caused by moving a copy. But we re humans, and once this technology is real, it is my own personal belief that this won t be a perfect process. So space is a physical thing that can be represented by say, a piece of paper, and then that piece of paper can be physically bent to describe the physical to metaphysical relationship to how it works when someone would bend it to make the shortest distance between the two points event shorter. • 30. Importance Of Proofs Of Teaching Mathematical Proofs For many math students around the world, proofs are dreaded; they are seen as pointless memorization of obvious ideas. These are most student s beliefs because they have never truly been taught or experienced the true purposes of proofs. Zaslavsky, Nickerson, Stylianides, Kidron, and Winicki Landman (2012) write to discuss the importance of teaching mathematical proofs in school. They continue on to express reasons why students need proofs and the multiple ways in which teachers can facilitate the learning and importance of proofs to their students. Zaslavsky et al. (2012) cite numerous reasons for the importance of proofs, but the most prominent reasons include strengthening student s ability to communicate mathematical knowledge, to instill problem solving skills and methods, and lastly, to fulfill human intellectual needs. Each of these reasons have been supported by research, and also come with challenges and concerns. The most basic reason Zaslavsky et al. (2012) cite as to why proofs should be taught in school is because doing so can increase and strengthen student s abilities to communicate mathematical knowledge. Most students are more than capable of applying formulas and solving the problems presented to them in classes with a little practice. A majority of these students, however, have no clue as to why the methods they are using work, or if they will work with any set of numbers they are presented (Yopp, 2009). This group greatly threatened the social order of Virginia. When the group had been defeated it became obvious to Captain Thomas Grantham that they needed to reduce their dependency on white laborers and focus more on Africans of which they could capture, and exploit. This also worked out in the best interest of the people of Virginia because they could deny the Africans right to bear arms due to their race. Africa became their primary source of labor. This illness is a result of an imbalance of hormones, insulin, produced in the pancreas. Insulin plays an important role in how the body uses food. Insulin enables the cells in the bloodstream to absorb and use glucose for fuel. If the pancreas produces too little or no insulin or if the insulin doesn t work properly the person may become diabetic. Therefore, diabetics are not able to properly convert food into fuels needed by the body to function, which can seriously lead to physical consequences. Normally the level of glucose in the body rises after a person eats a meal. This rise in blood glucose stimulates the beta cells to release insulin. Insulin then either helps body cells take up glucose to use as energy or promotes the conversation of glucose to fat, which are used by the cells later. Some glucose maybe stored in the liver this is called glycogen. Then the level of glucose drops (usually several hours after the meal has been eaten), other cells in the pancreas stimulate the conversion of glycogen to glucose and its release into the bloodstream. In this way, the level of glucose in the bloodstream stays relatively constant until the next meal is eaten. The body tends to deal with this imbalance by filtering out excess glucose throughout the kidneys, resulting in high levels of sugar in the urine. As glucose level rises the kidneys over whelmed and don t function normally. They lose their ability to absorb much water the result is frequent urination. This is commonly the earliest sign of diabetes. It is often followed by unquenchable thirst as the body tries to regain the lost fluids. It often seems that more fluid comes out than went in. • 41. No Sugar --- Replacement of the In-Class Presentation Essay Jack Davis No Sugar, first performed in 1985, is a post colonial realist work written in protest of the 1988 Bicentenary celebrations. In this broadly applicable play, Davis highlights the discrimination against Aborigines between 1929 and 1934 and particularly its justification under the government policy of `protectionism . Focusing on the experiences of the Millimurra family, No Sugar underscores the view of Aborigines as uncivilized, the attempt to assimilate them to white culture through Aboriginal reserves such as the Moore River Settlement, and the resilience and determination of Aborigines faced with almost complete disempowerment. A fundamental concern of No Sugar is the notion of the definition of poweralong racial lines. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further, the exploitation of Aborigines for slave labor whilst they are being `protected in Moore River is highlighted when Joe returns from prison with gifts and comments that he `earned a view bob and they gave it to [him] when [he] got out. Not like this place . Here, it is seen that it is the prerogative of Whites to decide when monetary reward for labor is received by Aborigines. In 1985, an Aboriginal audience would have viewed this as a notable example of disempowerment. Existence in a 1980 s growingly capitalist Australia dictated that economic self sufficiency was of vast importance. Whilst Aboriginal employment was still less that of the White majority, labor had equal value. In the approach to Australia s bicentenary, an Aboriginal audience would have seen the recognition of this disempowerment as imperative, and moreover, would have gained a measure of empowerment from the focus on injustices of the past. A contemporary Aboriginal audience would be more aware of a measure of stagnation in the economic circumstances of Aborigines, still reliant on government `hand outs to an extent. Both original and contemporary White audiences of No Sugar would have probably been shocked by the strict and discriminatory economic restrictions imposed on Aborigines. However, some ... • 43. Ethics Of Designer Babies Parents are given the option to modify their baby s genes through the technique of designer babies. However, there are ethical concerns about whether the practice of designer babies will be used for the intended purpose. Since the parents are the ones deciding their baby s genes, they are able to choose according to their preferences. Therefore, it gives parents the option to decide their babies appearance and personality. Thus, it leads to the controversial aspect of genderselection through the technology of designer baby as the sex of a child at birth can be prearranged by choosing embryos for a specific sexual trait (Verlinsky, 2005, p. 24). Parents can now easily select the sex of their baby through this technology. In addition, parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the concept of designer babies is still relatively new; thus, it raise concerns about the safety of this technique. Also, the process of designer babies has only been experimented on rabbits and rats, so it has yet to be tested on humans. Therefore, there could be hidden risks and side effects for humans that have yet to be discovered until after the procedure is completed. The issue of competence emerges because patients must understand the treatment involved and the potential side effects, as well as the probability of possible outcomes (Morrison and Furlong, 2014, p. 262). The editing of the genome is still a mystery as there could be unexplored territories. There could be the possibility of cleaving the wrong genes and as a result serious side effects may occur when necessary genes are sliced. In addition, unpredictable consequences may occur in future generations, so prospective problems may not always appear until the birth of the baby (Pang and Ho, 2016). Thus, it raises the risk of the emergence of new types of diseases or disabilities if genes are edited. It will be difficult to tell when problems arise during the process and it may eventually show up only once the irreversible procedure is completed. Furthermore, the success rate of impregnation is lower than most would like, harvesting eggs from the woman a procedure not without burdens may have to be done multiple times (Suter, 2007, p. 930). Women will have to undergo the risk of implantation even though it is not guaranteed that she will become pregnant as a result. The cost of this procedure is quite significant, but there is still a chance that the process may not work or is ineffective. Therefore, it is not possible to know the potential risks until it emerges, so it questions the safety of designer babies because there is still more to learn about the technique since it is still ... • 44. Phantom Limb Syndrome Summary Dr. Ramachandran has devised an experiment that he says has to be tested on many more patients with phantom limb syndrome before he can be certain that it will help amputees with phantom limb pain. He uses what he calls a mirror box , testing this with another patient named James Peacock who lost his right hand and has severe pain in his missing hand and as though the missing hand is constantly clenching. Dr. Ramachandran explains that this patients brain is sending signals to his missing limb trying to clench it, but because the limb isn t there is unable to send messages back to the brain letting it know that it s clenching too much or too fast. He theorized, That maybe the brain can be fooled by visual feedback? So, taking a wooden box dividing it with a mirror that is facing the limb... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gram explained that he would walk into things as big as pillars much like those at a train station because he couldn t see them, but he can still see. It s a very rare paradoxical condition referred to as blind sight. This condition allows the patient to detect a thing, but isn t aware of what it is. Gram can see to the left, but is blind to everything on the right in both eyes. A majority of jobs were saved for men and it was very uncommon for a woman to have a job that was outside of the house, especially if they were married. • 50. How Does Williams Present Lust In Poetry Love and literary works of poetry have been used together to portray one s feeling of admiration or longing towards someone or something. Lust is typically looked down upon and with caution; on the other hand, it can be seen as the protagonist of different verses. Imagist poet William Carlos Williams approach to love is one society deems unconventional. There are rare occurrences where both of these emotions are used simultaneously to describe what a person once shared with another person. In his poem The Young Housewife, the underlying tone of lust can lead one to conclude that a secret and past relationship, full of love and lust, existed between the speaker and a woman. Williams poem The Young Housewife not only grants the reader visual stimulus, but also leaves one wondering the truth behind the work. The poem begins with the speaker seeing the housewife in her nightgown through the window, at ten A.M., and within that moment she walked outside her house still dressed in her negligee. This suggests that the young housewife saw the speaker of the poem driving past her house through the window. When the speaker mentions the housewife was uncorseted, it indicates the lust the speaker has imagined when her body was seen since being uncorseted has to do with the noticing and looking the upper body of a woman. The speaker describes the young housewife tucking in the strands of her hair showing that the speaker of the poem was able to get a look at the young housewife s appearance. The entire poem emits the sensation of a brief moment of lust between the speaker and housewife as they drive by slowly listening only to the sound of leaves crackling in that instant of ...
