Persuasive Essay For Study Abroad
When in Rome! I chose to pick a study abroad program because I want to explore the world. I think it
is a perfect idea to get a chance to travel to another country and earn college credits. I chose Rome
because that is where I think I will be more comfortable to visit while in college. It is full of culture,
fashion, great cuisines, art, and many more! It has always been on my bucket list to go to Italy. It is the
perfect opportunity to visit the country especially while I am in college. I remember watching Lizzie
McGuire as a child and she went to Rome and impersonated an Italian pop star, Isabella. She met this
handsome man who took her to tour the city. Everyone eventually realized he was using her to ruin
Isabella, but it was still a happy ending for Lizzie McGuire. I wanted that happy ending it looked like
so much fun running around Rome. The expenses are outstanding for the trip, but at least I have an
agenda all laid out by the program. For this study abroad, I could not find the exact requirements for
attendance, but the minimum grade point average (GPA) for school activities are ranging from 2.5 to
4.0 GPA scale. The classes or study abroad will not be available if ten or more students are not
enrolled. I would also recommend the students classification to be a junior or higher because at this
point they are older and responsible enough to take their classes seriously and make it an adventurous
tour of learning and exploring. The program does recommend a letter

germany s invasion of poland
The Invasion of Poland (1939):
Germany had lost land to Poland under the Treaty of Versailles.
Many German speaking people lived in areas that were now part of Poland.
Germany viewed Poles as subhuman and wanted their land for lebensraum.
The Nazi Soviet Pact ensured Russia would not stop Germany s invasion of Poland.
Hitler thought Britain and France would not keep their promise to defend Poland.
On 1 September 1939 Hitler ordered the German army to invaded Poland.
Britain and France declared war leading to the start of the Second World War.
At 4.45 am on 1 September 1939 the German battleship Schleswig Holstein opened fire on the Polish
garrison of the Westerplatte Fort, Danzig (modern day Gdansk), in what was ... Show more content on

Hitler s annexation of Czechoslovakia breached the written guarantee he had issued to Chamberlain in
Munich in 1938, stating that he had no further territorial demands to make in Europe. Therefore, on 31
March 1939, Chamberlain issued a formal guarantee of Poland s borders and said that he expected
Hitler to moderate his demands.
Hitler was not deterred, and on 3 April he ordered the Wehrmacht to prepare for the invasion of
Poland on 1 September. Hitler was convinced that Chamberlain would not go to war to defend Poland
and that France would lack the will to act alone.
Nazi Soviet pact
Hitler s only real concern was that a sudden German invasion of Poland might alarm Stalin and trigger
a war with the Soviet Union. Stalin feared a German invasion and had been seeking an anti Nazi
collective security alliance with the western powers for many years, but by July 1939 Britain and
France had still not agreed terms.
Poland had also rejected an alliance with the Soviet Union, and refused permission for the Red Army
to cross its territory to engage the Wehrmacht in a future war. Hitler saw his opportunity, and
authorised his Foreign Minister, Joachim von Ribbentrop to enter into secret negotiations with the
Soviet Union.
The result was the signing of the Nazi Soviet Pact on 23 August 1939. Both Hitler and Stalin set aside
their mutual antipathy for national gain and in particular the restoration of their pre 1919 borders.

The Osi And Open Systems Interconnection
The OSI, Open Systems Interconnection, model was first introduced in 1984 and was design to be a
model and teaching tool to help better understand the rules of networking that systems must undergo
to communicate. The OSI model consist of seven hierarchical layers that defines the path that data
must travel. These layers are: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and
Application. The first and lowest level of the model is the Physical layer. The physical layer consists
of the basic networking hardware transmission technologies of a network (Osi model.com). Here you
could find specifications for telecommunication like types of wired cables such as; copper, optical, or
coaxial. In this layer, you would configure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third layer of the OSI model is the network layer and is where the routers and layer 3 switches
would be. This layer is responsible for controlling subnets and deciding which path the data should
take based on certain conditions. This layer is also responsible for IP (internet protocol) addresses, this
includes both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Packets in this layer identify where the traffic originated
(source IP address) and where it is going (destination IP address) (Gibson 166). In short, the OSI layer
three network layer is responsible for connections, host addressing, and message forwarding.
Protocols that operate on this layer are IPsec and ICMP. Layer four of the OSI model consist of the
transport layer. In this layer, the protocols in this layer provide a host to host communication servers
for applications (osi model.com). Within the layer four transport layer, we have TCP (transmission
control protocol) and UDP (user datagram protocol) protocols. TCP is a more reliable protocol in ways
of guaranteeing the delivery of the IP traffic. With TCP, you have a three way handshake in place,
meaning that when you send a segment you should receive an acknowledgement that the segment was
received. If it was not received, then you could resend. When using UDP, guarantee delivery of
packets is not the main concern. The main advantage of UDP is that

The Role Of Household Income With Multiple Aspects Of...
Measure of wealth such as income and assets are commonly considered to be objective assessments of
environmental circumstances, making direct contributions to happiness or life satisfaction. Certainly,
the alternation between and individual s income and life satisfaction is as high as .50 in some
countries. (Krueger, 2006). The relationship of household income with multiple aspects of subjective
well being was examined in a New Zealand telephone probability sample conducted in 2008.
Consistent with previous research, household income had positive logarithmic associations with
subjective quality of life and happiness. The logarithmic function was steeper for quality of life than
for happiness, indicating that income is linked more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the belief that more money and possessions would improve our life, evidence shows that
people with a strong financial goal orientation are less satisfied with their lives, less happy and have
more psychological problems. (Dittmar, 2009). Surveys asking people how happy they are indicate
that the average level of happiness has not increased over several decades, despite large increases in
income per capita. For example, in the United States, income per capita has increase since 1950, yet
the percentage of respondents who say they are very happy has not increase, and the percentage who
says they are not very happy has not declined significantly. (Lee) Similar disconnects between
happiness and income has been found in Japan, The United Kingdom, and continental Europe. Two
explanations are often offered. The first explanation is that any additional happiness from more
income results primarily from increasing our relative income, but we can increase our relative income
only by reducing the relative income of others, which reduces their happiness. The second explanation
is that the pursuit of money becomes addictive and reduces the time available for family and friends,
intellectual pursuits, exercise and other activities that result in genuine happiness and, it is claimed, do
not reduce the happiness of others. Happiness and money are not linked. A person can be really rich
and be totally unhappy. Also a person can be really poor and be happy. Money can bring

Executive Summary
The project focuses on a company ECOVATIVE that is producing bio friendly plastics those help to
fulfill the human demand as well as save the environment. The core focus is to develop a view to save
the environment by using bio friendly products and promote it on worldwide market as well as satisfy
consumer demand with low cost. The project also focuses on the 4p (Product, Price, Place and
Promotion) positioning of bio plastic.
The inner goal of this whole project is to replace and eliminate the synthetic and plastic materials like
Styrofoam, plastic covering, and other types of synthetic packaging with the new bio technology
called mushroom packaging. The synthetic materials like plastics require a large number of energy to
produce as disposal issues requirement and these materials are slowly poisoning our planet each and
every time. One little bit of Styrofoam substance consists of 1.5 liters of petrol. In addition, Styrofoam
reaction is not so organic with soil material. Consistently individuals are producing 20 billion dollars
of this material, in everything from building materials to surfboards and table tops.

Clean Green Fuels Case Study
Fraudulent
In 2009, Rodney Rashawn Hailey, the owner of Clean Green Fuels, embarked on a journey defraud
the EPA. Hailey started by registering his business with the Environmental protection Agency EPA as
a renewable energy producer under the EPA s 2005 Renewable Fuel Standard Program (RFSP), which
was established in the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA). RFSP requires oil refiners to
produce a certain quantity of renewable fuel or purchase credit equivalent to the quaintly as a mean to
compensate for their production of petroleum based fuel. These credits were given in the form of
Renewable Identification Numbers (RIN). Every certified batch of clean fuel produced in the United
States generates a unique RIN which could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The officers visit the corporate headquarter without warning Hailey. During their visit, they
questioned Hailey about the CGF s operation process. Oddly Hailey couldn t provide the agents with a
specific location where the fuel was being produced. He also made some inconsistent and self
incriminating statements and even noted that his business was temporally out of commission.
Eventually they obtained an address where some of the biofuel production was occurring but when
they arrived at the site all they found was a couple of empty containers.
In May 2011 Judge Beth P issued several warrants and seizures warrants for Hailey s home, office,
bank account and other valuable items in possession because of RIN sales. Internal Revenue Service
(IRS) special agent Catherine Chow lead the warrant execution team. Local police called Hailey and
informed him that a suspicious person had been sighted on his property and if the department could
search for the suspect. When Hailey came to open the gate, federal agents bombarded the vicinity.
Hailey was eventually sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for selling false RIN and pocketing $9.1
million in fraudulent renewable energy credits. His assets were confiscated, and he was required to
pay $42.2 million in restitution. Hailey was charged with wire fraud, engaging in an illegal monetary
transaction, and violating the Clean Air Act (CAA). Other key players that contributed to the

Bohemian Rhapsody Literary Devices
Bohemian Rhapsody Queen The song can be interpreted to that of a youthful man has to come face to
face with his actions after confessing to shooting another man. The song follows a young man that has
confessed to murdering another man. During the song you hear all of the emotional pain he goes
through as he faces the penalties of his wrong doing. Halfway through the song the culprit pleads for
no sympathy as he receives his final fate. Towards the end the man rebels against his final fate before
accepting it and going forward with it. In the introduction of the song the culprit questions his life and
the choices he has made. But the truth is that we cannot close our eyes and forget about our actions;
evil or good. We must deal with the consequences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But towards the end of it he is then referred to as a man. Throughout the song a transformation has
happened to the boy where he has metaphorically committed suicide and in return become older and a
man. During this metaphorical transformation he has also changed himself from the evil life he was
living and become a good person. The Catholic Church believes that: 1755 A morally good act
requires the goodness of the object, of the end, and of the circumstances together. An evil end corrupts
the action, even if the object is good in itself (such as praying and fasting in order to be seen by men ).
The object of the choice can by itself vitiate an act in its entirety. There are some concrete acts such as
fornication that it is always wrong to choose, because choosing them entails a disorder of the will, that
is, a moral evil. The Catholic Church believes that for someone to be considered good they must be a
good person that demonstrates a good behaviour, good thoughts and good morals. For someone to be
classified as evil they can be a good person demonstrating evil thoughts, evil acts and evil morals or
an evil person demonstrating evil thoughts, evil acts and evil morals. This can be such things as
praying and going to church just to be seen by

way they would try to inpress someone would be they would act like they hate school and dont do any
of there work but in the long run they do care about there school work and only act like that in frount

PTSD Among Vietnam Veterans Essay
The majority of Vietnam veterans experienced delayed or chronic PTSD which we know now, can
remain dormant for years until symptoms are triggered. According to the Vietnam Veterans
Readjustment Study, approximately 30.9% of men and 26.9% of women soldiers in Vietnam had
PTSD at some point in their lives. (P8) Lifting these requirements from the DSM III allowed many
more veterans to step forward; and with this new massive population of test subjects scientists were
able to research the dynamics, variables, and patterns of PTSD, through the advancements of
neuroimaging and neuroscience. (P9) There were many more cases of PTSD among Vietnam veterans
than any other war. (P5) A number estimated to be near 500,000. (P11) Plasmodium falciparum ...

The resulting obstruction of blood flow is traumatic, depriving the brain of oxygen, causing
hemorrhaging and producing severe psychiatric symptoms. (P18) The symptoms of cerebral malaria
replicate or resemble many PTSD symptoms. For example, in cerebral malaria patients experience
hallucinations which could be associated with PTSD s flashback episodes, as well as confusion and
amnesia which can be found is both illnesses. Because this particular stand of malaria effects the brain
it is easily identified with or mimic the symptoms of a psychological illness. A staff neuropsychologist
at Iowa City VA Medical Center, Dr. Varney, found evidence in his research that suggests many
veterans suffering from symptoms of PTSD might actually be exhibiting long term effects of cerebral
malaria. In one of his studies he found that ... cerebral malaria survivors exhibit symptoms such as
depression, personality change, feelings of subjective distress, impaired memory, emotional instability,
and seizures that were still problematic 15 20 years after the malaria illness had been treated. (P18)
However, According to the Veterans Benefits Administration,

Salvador Allende Essay
A nation s sovereignty and self sufficiency is all dependent on said nation s economy, a nation with a
doomed economy is bound to fall and fail its people. Such is the case with the South American
country Chile, in 1973 under President Allende s socialist regime. Salvador Allende was the short
lived president of Chile ruling from 1970 to 1973. During Allende s reign, socialist destruction
ensued, with crime breaking out frequently, complete totalitarian rule with all forms of media being
regulated and controlled by a marxist government, a grief stricken economy, as well as the abolition of
all free trade, with tariffs up to 100%, extremely crippling the Chilean society and economy. As Chile
was in shambles, it was inevitable a revolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jose Pinera of The Atlas Society exclaims that From 1973 to 1989 (Pinochet s years of ruling), a true
revolution took place in Chile, involving a radical, comprehensive, and sustained move toward free
markets. This Chilean revolution doubled Chile s historic rate of economic growth (to an average of 7
percent a year from 1984 to 1998 Pinochet s final term), drastically reduced the proportion of people
living in poverty. (Pinera). Pinochet created a free market to allow businesses to operate in a non
marxist fashion, whilst also drastically decreasing the poverty rate by 7% each year for 14 years. Once
Pinochet removed tariffs entirely, free trade was prevalent within Chile, making Chile a more
advanced city economically. Tyler Cowen, writer for The Marginal Revolution states in his article
How Good Was Pinochet For The Chilean Economy? that during Pinochet s regime Chile moved from
very high tariffs to virtual free trade. The Chilean economy diversified and became far less dependent
on copper; this included some moves to hi tech and light industry. (Cowen). Pinochet s vigorous
advancements of the Chilean economy, including his removal of a marxist trade system, remarkably
enhanced Chile s economy, renewing it to a state of great strength, while also introducing new foreign
products into Chile now that foreign trade was possible under a free

Disadvantages Of Ultrathin Models
During the presentations there was to presentations that really opened my eyes to the issues we have
today in our society. These two presentations were on models in the United States versus other
countries and there other presentation was on homeschooling. The modeling one stuck out to me
because I have always struggled with being under weight. The magical number that countries had
imposed was that all models had to have a BMI of no less than 18%. Since we are surrounded by these
images all over the place countries are taking initiative to ban ultrathin models. They set unrealistic
expectations that people want to be like them. Since the BMI was so important I thought I would do

The two things that stuck out to me was that there is no financial support for individuals who chose to
homeschool their children, and there are more benefits than I thought about homeschooling. Firstly,
when you opt to homeschool you child you are not given money to help with the cost. This makes it
very difficult for families who are in poverty to homeschool a child. It costs more money for a child to
be homeschooled versus going to a public school, but it does cost less than attending a private school.
A child who is homeschooled can do online schooling, but most of the time it is a parent or other older
individual teaching a child during the day. If a family is financially challenged it is hard for a parent to
stay home to teach their children. It was said that children might not be receiving homeschooling
education from someone who is not fully capable of teaching a student. In addition, there are also
many positives that come from homeschooling. Homeschooled children do well on standardized tests,
and are known to be self directed learners. They also have the educational freedom to choose or for
their instructor to choose what they want to learn. They can learn at their own pace so they can spend
more time on things that are difficult and move quickly on things that are easy. The children doesn t
need to be held back by others if they want to move on. It is a much more

Differences Between True Grit Book And Movie
True Grit by Charles Portis tells the story of Mattie Ross, who is just fourteen when the coward Tom
Chaney shoots her father down in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and robs him of his life, his horse, and cash.
Mattie leaves home to avenge her father s blood. With one eyed Rooster Cogborn, the meanest
available U.S Marshal, by her side, Mattie pursues the killer into Indian Territory. The novel True Grit
was made into two movies, the 1969 version directed by Henry Hathaway and the 2010 version
directed by the Coen brothers. Both films possess similarities and differences in some of the scenes

There is always something different, which is put into the movie to make it more exciting or quicker.
With True Grit, both movies show a number of differences, from characters to scenes or settings and
so on. The first film there was many character differences for instance, Mattie s hair was short, she
had a bob instead of two braids like it stated in the book, but in the latest film she had two braids. In
real life they also possess some character differences, in the first film the girl who was casted as
Mattie Ross, Kim Darby played her character at the age of 21 and the second movie Mattie Ross was
played by Hailee Stienfeld at the age of 13 close to Mattie s real age. When producers, directors, or
writers decide to make movies or television series out of books, they are not always the same. There is
always something that has been changed or added to series that is different from the book. For
instance, the hanging scene, in the book it described that the crowd was singing and the three men had
a chance to speak before they got hung. The hanging scene was one scene that stood out to me, in the
book it states that the man with bible led the crowd to sing Amazing Grace , and the three men that
were being hung had something to say (Portis, 22). The first one was a white man, he said he killed
the wrong man that s why he is here, and if he would have

Tracy Latimer Euthanasia
Write to die? Tracy Latimer was killed by her father on October 24th, 1993. He was charged with
second degree murder after a series of trials and appeals. Robert Latimer had been motivated by
concern for the suffering of her daughter, who had severe mental and physical disabilities, and by
love. This case leads to a national disagreement on euthanasia. It is one of many cases about
euthanasia. Should it be a legitimate right? This paper is going to explain the reason why I think
euthanasia ought not to be legal. The first premise will argue that voluntary euthanasia is the start of a
slippery slope. Then, the position of Immanuel Kant towards euthanasia will be discussed in the last

He is convinced that reason might be revealed in three principles of morality: goodwill, duty, and
categorical imperative. For Kant, good goes hand in hand with will. Nothing is good except for a good
will (Kant 9). For instance, courage is not good if it is used for evil purpose as hurting someone and
being proud of it. However, will, the capacity to act from principle, is also related to duty. Moral worth
can only be obtained if we act from duty. In other words, an action does not have a moral worth if you
do not act from your duty. But, What determines our duty? The categorical imperative by Kant answer
that questions and provides us with the response to What makes a moral right? or, What makes
euthanasia right? He states, in his first formulation of the Categorical Imperative, that we are ought to
act in a way that the maxim of our actions can become a universal law of conduct. In his second
formulation, Immanuel Kant asserts that we should act in a way to behave with others, as we would
like to be treated ( 229). Therefore, we have no right to formulate a maxim such as: If I am in a really
bad condition, I have the right of being euthanized; since it cannot form a universal law. Furthermore,
we should not to dehumanize ourselves through euthanasia, as it

labels were run in the 1990s and early 2000s. These five record labels were at the top of their games,
and their artists became household names and some of the biggest entertainers in the world. These
labels operated more like a family, and most artists would have done anything to be a part of the
movement.

Analysis Of Dragon s Village, Things Fall Apart, And...
In Africa and throughout the world, many countries have been forced to undergo the plight of colonial
rule. Along with this, comes varying external impacts which severely alter the cultural, political,
social, and personal identity of a country both during and long after the Colonial Era. The evidence of
these established changes can be found in the novels; Dragon s Village, Things Fall Apart, and Man of
the People surrounding China and Africa. Along with Deepa Mehta s period films, Earth and Water
and Iciar Bollain s juxtaposition piece, Even the Rain that emphasize the circumstances that occurred
in India and Bolivia.
A master at providing alternative context to Africa and concepts of decolonization, Chinua Achebe
wrote a great amount of literary work, including, Things Fall Apart (1956) and A Man of the People
(1966). The first novel, occurring both before and during Nigeria s neo colonial period, depicts the
relationship between Okonkwo and his Igbo tribe in Umuofia. With an identity heavily dependent on
his social status and structure, Achebe s protagonist communicates his extreme distaste for the
entrance of European colonizers:
Okonkwo was well known throughout the nine villages and even beyond. His fame rested on solid
personal achievements. As a young man of eighteen he had brought honor to his village by throwing
Amalinze the Cat. Amalinze was the great wrestler who for seven years was unbeaten, from Umuofia
to Mbaino. (1.1)

My Life I Have Gone From Extreme Fandom
Throughout the course of my life, I have gone from extreme fandom to none at all. I guess one can say
it had to do with the stages of life that I went through. At times, I sought to admire individuals as a
sense of community. Particularly, during my childhood, I spent much of my time admiring celebrities.
From musicians to actors, I adored them. In fact, my pastel pink walls in my bedroom were hardly
ever seen because they were covered with posters upon posters from my favorite pre teen magazine.
That was one of my all time favorite past times; asking my mom for Bop magazine that all the posters
and quizzes an eleven year old girl could ask for. I want the goal of this fandom autobiography to take
my readers through my life journey and how I have become a die hard fan girl at times, to one that
could care less. As a kid, around five or six years old, started my progression into fandom. I spent
hours not only watching Disney movies in my living room, but aspiring to be a part of them. Often
times I would grab my mother s tape recorder, and record myself for long periods of time acting as if I
was in the movies that I loved so much. One of my favorite movies at the time, The Little Mermaid,
naturally called for me to pretend and sing as if I were the little mermaid herself. I realized, even at
that young age, that I was never going to be a mermaid, but at least I could try. There was something
about being on television or in popular novels that made everyone in them that

Why Is Mommy Important To Me
Jeremy In the song Jeremy we read, listened, and watched a song about a kid. The 3 tones were all
different and I will explain them to you. As on is sad. The other one is exciting. The last one is even
more depressing then the other 3. So I will explain to you why these are now. The first tone is us
reading the lyrics simply. The lyrics tone was sad because when you read the song, some of it says I
remember picking on the boy and Daddy didn t give attention to the fact mommy didn t care. These
are only 2 of the several song quotes that make it sad. As in 2 problems are the parents are neglecting
their child, and he is being bullied by reading it. So the mood is sad for this. Now the second one is
listening to the music, when the singer says the lyrics he makes it sound exciting. As he is saying it
with excitement, making us all excited as well. So this Defeats the point of the sad tone in reading it.

Summary Of The Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of Capitalism
In the essay of Weber, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism (1905), he presented his
perspective about the spirit of capitalism and how the ascetic Protestantism was one of the major
elective affinities associated with the rise in the Western world of market driven capitalism . During
the first and the second chapter we could appreciate two important social behaviors. First, the
influence of one of the most important social structures religion affects the social behavior of people.
Second, the development of new moral standards due to the new conception well being. The
development of Protestantism, the difference of pre capitalism and modern capitalism, and the
development of new moral standards were topics that caught my attention ... Show more content on

There was a revolution with the new conception of welfare that Protestant introduced in the society.
But this revolution was not only focused on the new ways to control money, it also concerned with the

methods to get money and moral values could be oriented according their interest. The change of
moral standards which converted a nature frailty into a ornament of the spirit, and canonized as the
economic virtues habits which in early ages had been denounced as vices . I founded this statement
really interesting because people only start to show different behaviors when social institutions allow
them. However, new behaviors bring the problematic of it is good or wrong . There are people who are
not going to change their values, moral and code of conduct because they experiment changes in their
environment. However, there are other groups of people who justify their new behaviors and moral

2.3 Factors Affecting Accurate Demand Forecast
The operation of electricity system is strongly influenced by the accuracy of demand forecast as
economy and control of electric power system is quite sensitive to forecasting errors [44 45]. The four
important factors affecting load forecast are:
I. Weather conditions Electricity demand has a strong correlation to weather. To develop an efficient
and accurate demand forecasting model for electricity much effort has been put to find a relationship
between the weather and the demand of electricity. The change in comforts of customer due to change
in weather conditions resulting in usage of appliances likes air conditioner, space heater and water
heater. It also includes use of agricultural appliances for irrigation. The pattern of demand differs
greatly in the areas with large meteorological difference during summer and winter. Dry and wet
temperature, humidity, dew point, wind speed, wind direction, sunshine and amount of precipitation
are common weather parameters that influence electricity demand. Among the weather variables listed
above, two composite weather variable functions, the cooling degree days and heating degree days are

Comparing Plato, Nietzsche, And Aristotle
Political theory is the study of concepts that allows for the analytical study of relationships between
political institutions. Over the centuries, political theorists have established renditions of what political
theory is. This essay will focus on Plato, Nietzsche, and Aristotle, and their works, which respectively
define the concepts of the common good and the significance of philosophers to the welfare of the
state, self deceiving intellect and the power of authority over our intellectual lives, and the concepts of
interdependency and the importance of virtue and happiness for a successful political framework.
Plato, and his works are renowned for the development of the most central principles of political
philosophy. In Republic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept is based on his belief that philosophers are the only holders of true knowledge. In
Republic Plato uses Socrates in dialogue to state, Once one has seen it (Forum of Good), however, one
must conclude that it is the cause of all that is correct and beautiful in anything, that it produces both
light and its source in the visible realm, and that in the intelligible realm it controls and provides truth
and understanding, so that anyone who is to act sensibly in private or public must see it (Plato 189).
Plato uses Socrates to argue that the only people with true knowledge are those who have access to the
Forum of Good. According to Plato, this Forum is the source of all other forums and all intelligence
and knowledge so a political state must have access to the Forum in order to thrive. However, the only
ones who have access to this forum are philosophers and for this reason he argues that the welfare of
the state is dependent on the existence of philosophers. He furthers this argument by stating that as a
result it is philosophers who are most fit to rule, thus introducing the concept of a philosopher king as
the most fit form of political rule for the welfare of all. These principles, although they have been
adapted to account for differences in beliefs, societies, and political structures, are still the basis of
many current political

Alan Turing s Imitation Game
Alan Turing s Imitation Game In Alan Turing s Computing Machinery, and Intelligence Turing
proposes a test to distinguish whether a machine is intelligent or not in an unconventional way. His
test is an alternative to the questions Can machines think? and offers an alternative where it is not
possible to get misdirected by ambiguous terms. Turing argues that it is a sufficient test in the way that
all machines that pass the test are intelligent, but not all intelligent machines will pass the test. In this
essay I will address one particular objection, The Argument from Consciousness , namely how I do
not feel that this argument in successful in it s attempt to undermine Turin s hypothesis. Many people
have objections to Turing s test, objections that he counters in the latter part of his paper. In this
particular objection Professor Jefferson brings up the idea that a machine cannot be deemed intelligent
because it is unable to feel. A machine cannot compose art from thoughts or feelings, nor can a
machine feel pleasure, guilt, or grief. Jefferson claims that until a machine is able to do these things, it
cannot be considered as intelligent as the human brain. He claims that Turing s test does not ... Show

solipsist viewpoint, because a machine would be able to do the same things a human could, things we

Mercantilism is the focus of draining other countries for its resources and exporting more than you
import while gaining as much wealth that is possible by taking the assets from their colonies. So Great
Britain believed the more money they had the more power they could achieve. Great Britain used the
ideology of mercantilism on the colonies and they were used to export raw materials, such as wood,
crops, and furs. Great Britain were able to make goods out of the raw materials that the colonies had
exported, once Great Britain was done making the finished goods they would sell it back to the

business in the American colonies, this caused an enormous growth in population and merchants
became very wealthy. The effect mercantilism had on the natives was not good, because many of the
remaining natives became slaves. However the Indians kept dying from the diseases that Europeans

Similarities Between Lyrics And Poetry
Are Lyrics Poetry or Meaningless Words? In society today, there are many arguments about whether
or not song lyrics should be considered poetry, or if the two are completely different in their meanings.
Lyrics should be considered poetry because they have a purpose and meaning and some are written
similarly to how poems are. Lyrics and poetry are similar in many ways,in expression, how they are
written and their purpose. A controversial argument is that many people argue the fact that today
music is not really meaningful so how can it be considered poetry? Well in song lyrics, there is the
creativeness of pulling in literary techniques to give the lyrics a deeper meaning. For example, in
Garth Brooks famous song, The Dance, he says, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Those are just a few ways literary techniques are used in both lyrics and poetry.
Additionally, lyrics and poetry are used throughout the world to help others understand what people
are feeling. Even if people don t speak the same language, music and poetry makes them feel that they
do. It gives a sense of connection, even if it only is for three minutes. Even if you re not looking at the
phonetic part of a song lyric or poem, they both still have an impact. No matter where you are in the
world poetry and music both explain how people are feeling throughout the world. For example in
Toby Keith s Courtesy of the Red White and Blue, he says, Justice will be served and the battle will
rage, This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage. And you ll be sorry that you messed with The
U.S of A. (Lines 25 28)
Keith is saying in these lyrics how nothing will bring America down. In a poem quite similar, Hannah
Schoechert says, Bin Laden tried To crush our land, But we stood our ground, With our flag in hand.
And were still standing. (Lines 6 10)
In both of these examples, the main idea of not backing down is shown quite evidently. In the lyrics as
well as the poem, the meanings are clear, thus making them equal. The

Officer Tabor Argumentative Essay
On 25 March 2017, at 0220 hours in the City of Goddard, Officer Tabor was traveling Westbound at
the 20000 block of West Kellogg in his patrol vehicle. As he approached 20300 West Kellogg, he
decided that he would check the business lot. While slowing his vehicle and maneuvering it into the

State Control Of Alcohol Distribution
State control of alcohol distribution is just one of many benevolent government formulations that in
the end does more harm than good to the people of Pennsylvania. In their naïve, paternalistic attempt
to defend moral virtues and to protect people from themselves, our state government continues to
ridicule the American ideals of free market competition and individual liberty. Consumers should have
the ability to purchase any variant of alcohol that private stores are willing to sell at the market price at
any time. Private stores should be able to compete freely to sell alcohol to customers, selecting their
own hours and enforcing their own rules on the sale of alcohol at their discretion.
At long last, these free market principles appear to have once again taken hold in Harrisburg, as a bill
is in place in the Pennsylvania Legislature that would privatize liquor sales in the state. In order to
encourage the Pennsylvania Senate to act on the bill (the House passed it earlier in 2015), I submit this
essay, wherein we will discuss both the pros and cons of privatizing liquor sales in Pennsylvania. By
examining the major arguments for (such as the blossoming of new business opportunities see
Wegman s bistro that serves alcohol) and the arguments against (such as worries that unfettered access
to alcohol will lead to public health crises, and thus more taxes and debt for taxpayers) liquor
privatization, I hope to elucidate the rhetoric employed by both sides of one

MODERN WARFARE. To secure peace is to prepare for war said Carl Von Clausewitz. This means if
a nation is well armed, other nations will be wary of attacking it and hence peace will be preserved.
Many governments do not like to be engaged in warfare or receive their soldiers in a black bag. Many
families would prefer loved ones alive and not dead after a war. Even so, all countries in the world
take actions to prepare their military forces to be ready in case they are needed. In recent wars, the use
of technology has been one of the most important means to obtain the advantage over the enemy.
Therefore, electronic warfare, as part of modern warfare, has become not only a concept but an
effective tool to reinforce combatant soldiers on the ground. The control of the electromagnetic
spectrum has now a significant role in military forces having an advantage over the enemy. Electronic
attack, electronic protection and electronic warfare support are elements of electronic warfare.
An electronic attack is the employment of energy to localize, interfere and destroy enemy assets,
Department of the Army (2009). New weapons usually demand the use of a small segment of the
electromagnetic spectrum, that is called the frequency at which every weapon works. If the frequency
of a particular weapon (radar, radios, air defense batteries, etc.) is localized, then that particular
weapon can be intercepted and destroyed. The more enemy weapons

Arizona s growth throughout the years. In fact, it was during these years that signs appeared to suggest
Arizona s eventual prosperity ( City of Phoenix History ).
The decade begins in 1890, when the popularity of copper began to override that of silver ( Arizona ).

Symbolism, Imagery and Allegory in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and A Streetcar Named Desire
Tennessee Williams said, in the foreword to Camino Real, a symbol in a play has only one legitimate
purpose, which is to say a thing more directly and simply and beautifully than it could be said in
words. Symbolism is used, along with imagery and allegory to that effect in both Cat on a Hot Tin
Roof and A Streetcar Named Desire. Both plays tend to share the same kinds of symbols and motifs;
sometimes they achieve the same meaning, sometimes not. It is possible that Williams took elements
from A Streetcar Named Desire to make Cat on a Hot Tin Roof a success. After the success of A

look around for some liquor (Streetcar p.120), just as she looks for an escape from her own past. This
symbolism puts new meaning in Blanche s line [looking down at the glass, which shakes in her hand]:
You re all I ve got in the world, and your not glad to see me! it leaves one wondering whether she is
talking to Stella or to the liquor at this point.
Both Brick and Blanche have idealised their pasts beyond reach. Brick sums this up, stating, those
high hurdles have gotten too high for me, now. (Cat p. 53) This imagery of the high hurdles is
symbolic of the unattainable past Brick strives for. Boxhill believes that Brick saw Skipper as a
symbol of a marriage of pure souls (Boxhill p.113). Griffin sums up Brick s

Reflection About Sports
My life has consisted of many sports. Sports has been a part of my life for a while now every since I
can remember. The sports I played throughout the years has been baseball, football, soccer, and I ran
track. Throughout the years I played these sports has been some challenging times and injuries that
have happened to me.
Injuries and challenges always have an impact on a athletes abilities and there physical and mental
wanting to keep on playing. One challenge I had playing some of these sports is the coaches. Some
coaches you have through your high school or athletic career will help you and assist you. One coach I
had for track was the total opposite of that, instead of helping us, all she would do is criticize
everything that a person would do wrong and ignore the team if they had questions. She wouldn t help
us resolve our problem and I found that as a challenge for me because if I needed help on some tips
for running, she would not help. How I responded to this situation is by talking to her about the ways
she coaches. She didn t respond very well to what I had to say but at least I stood up and said
something. She learned that I didn t like how she was coaching and that s how I resolved my situation
with her. Many individuals tend to become uninterested, uncommitted, and unmotivated for many
reasons. The reasons they have could be resolved very easily. Some of the reasons I have heard
throughout the years is that the training is too hard. Training is supposed to be hard, you aren t going
to be the best unless you train hard. Another complaint I have heard is that the coaches are mean.
Some coaches are mean and some coaches are mean for a reason. Some coaches that is the only way
they know. Pushing athletes to the wall has been a coaching thought for many years and most coaches
I had, went by that mindset. The last reason I think people become uninterested in sports or physical
activity is that there not getting any results. The fact of the matter is; it is not just working out that s
going to get you the results. There are many factors that go into progressing and getting that result you
want. Your diet has a lot to do with getting that result so you got to make sure you are eating right.

The Age Of The Upper Class
From 1837 to 1901 marks a new era for England, as it is ruled under Queen Victoria bringing an age
of peace, prosperity, and a new nationalistic attitude within England itself. The large increase in
population and a shift to a trade and manufacturing economy brings a new sense of competition
amongst the citizens, developing a new value in aesthetics, status, and wealth to prove dominance in
the ever growing society. Economic success, an ideal which began as a strictly upperclass desire, soon
trickled down to the lower classes as new economic focuses permitted the conditions of the lower
classes to improve due to the growing demand in industrial jobs. With social mobility at several
poverty stricken citizen s footsteps, many could not help but to project the feelings of the upper class
in their social lifestyles. An overarching attitude of competition in Victorian era England brought way
to the diminishment of the former hierarchical notions as all classes displayed similar characteristics:
the fixation on vanity, the indulgence in hedonistic tendencies, and the corruption accompanying
influence, all of which are apparent in the dramatic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde,
and poems by Alfred Tennyson, Matthew Arnold, and Robert Browning. Oscar Wilde s exceptional
novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray, follows a seemingly innocent young man who initially partakes
under the wing of his accomplice, Basil Hallward, to let him paint him. After viewing the

Reflection On The Indian Boarding School Gathering
I was able to attend the Indian Boarding School Gathering conference at the Turtle Mountain
Community College. Listening to the stories, you could really feel the affection and how it affected
our elders. I was saddened to hear the many awful stories about how our people survived this terrible
event, let alone how the children had to grow up. However, according to the stories, there was both
good memories and bad. As I recall Mrs. McCleave mentioning, the saying Kill the Indian and save
the man , was from the federal government. This was Pratt s motto. It was stressed that civilizing the
Indians by teaching them English, and then converting them to Christianity and allowing them to
trade. Pratt also trimmed Indians hair and prohibited traditions such as clothing, dancing or religious
ceremony. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though I ve heard the brutal stories before, I never understood anything about the Catholic
Church. After this conference, I understand the emotional roller coaster that comes along with the
church. The beatings, rape, sexual assaults all liberally come back to each survivor. All the feelings
that they were feeling, the hurt they went through, the loneliness, and the heartache. They can t just
brush it under the rug. Although they may feel broken, they are warriors for overcoming everything
and remaining strong. Children were not able to speak their native tongue, or wear their clothing attire
that they came with that was related to their Native culture. They really wanted to make all native
children white. Boarding schools have left a huge impact on individuals, families, tribal communities,

God s Principles Of God
God designed nature so meticulously perfect that His imprint is obvious in every living thing. Some
scientists want to explain away God. Steven Hawking, once an advocate of belief, in God, suddenly
changed his mind. He stated that science offers a more convincing explanation for the origins of the
universe, and that the miracles of religion aren t compatible with scientific fact. Although very
unreasonable, this change of heart exhibits one of God s basic gifts to the human race: free choice.
God will not force people to accept Him.
Creationists and evolutionists will argue about the beginning of mankind until the end of mankind.
There have been many famous scientists whose works have included God. Nicholas Copernicus, Sir
Francis Bacon, and Galileo Galilei, to name a few, believed whole heartedly in a higher being.
Although there are many more scientists that align themselves with faith, it seems the more educated a
person is, the more likely they are not to believe in God. The human ego wants to believe that we are
the center of the universe. It believes we are in control and superior to all things. People called
evolutionists are consumed with ego which is an acronym for Edging God Out. They make
observations and come to conclusions, but refuse to see the obvious fact: that without God as the
mastermind of creation, nature would not exist in harmony. We do not exist by chance. Einstein s
famous epithet on the uncertainty principle was God does not play

Rna Interference ( Rnai )
Introduction RNA interference (RNAi) is a biological process where a double stranded RNA (dsRNA)
activates the degradation of the sequence dependent RNA target cell, causing a posttranscrip tional
gene silencing mechanism or inhibition of cellular gene expression. 1 This mechanism was first
discovered in Caenorhabditis elegans in 1998 by Andrew Z. Fire and Craig C. Mello, where they
observed that the introduction of the dsRNA in the animal cell resulted in an inhibition expression of
the homologous gene, and this phenomenon opened new possibilities on modulat ing gene sequences
in the medical industry. 2 However, there are some major setbacks with the ongoing research of this
siRNA molecules as therapeutic applications, including a possibility of silencing the healthy genes
other than the target ones when the siRNA binds to the complementary mRNA strand. There are also
some studies that have shown that with the application of the siRNA as a drug, it produces some
unwanted side effects where it could be lethal if there s an overdose or can cause immunity to the
siRNA, leading to the question: is siRNA as a form of a drug for medicinal purposes actually safe?
Mechanism of the RNAi in action
The RNAi mechanism (Figure 1) is triggered with the introduction of the small interfering RNA
(siRNA) molecules via enzyme (Dicer) breakdown of the double stranded RNA (dsRNA), following
an incorporation of these siRNA into an RNA induced silencing complex (RISC). When the siRNA is

Challenge To Royal Policies And Authority In Early Stuart...
The trend of challenge to Royal policies and authority in Early Stuart England (1603 49) was
significant because it resulted in Civil War and the overthrow of monarchical government.
This trend was influenced by political, social and economic forces. The political forces were mainly
over the debate between absolutism and constitutionalism. Social forces involved a conflict within the
Church of England between Arminianism/Laudianism and Puritanism. Underlying the political and
social forces were economic forces which have been subject to considerable debate among historians.
Elizabeth died in 1603 and she was succeeded by her Protestant relative, King James VI of Scotland.
Though her reign had seen problems over religion, the 1559 Religious Settlement remained intact and
England had become more influenced on the world scene. English had become the leading Protestant
power in Europe.
James I became the King of England in 1603. He was determined to rule England wisely and he had
successfully ruled the troublesome Scots where many others had failed in the past. However, he
increased financial problems and difficulties in managing parliament. Even though James I
misunderstood some aspects of the governing of his reign and kept England at peace until 1624. In
Scotland, James I was known for his acceptance of different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But this interpretation has come under criticism and a revisionist interpretation emerged which queried
the whole concept of Parliament being in opposition to Royal authority that Members of Parliament
saw themselves as the monarch s loyal subjects. It was pointed out that any conflict was usually
amongst competing groups or rival factions, not any conflict against the Crown until at least 1638,
where an opposition to Royal policies does then take

  • 2. Persuasive Essay For Study Abroad When in Rome! I chose to pick a study abroad program because I want to explore the world. I think it is a perfect idea to get a chance to travel to another country and earn college credits. I chose Rome because that is where I think I will be more comfortable to visit while in college. It is full of culture, fashion, great cuisines, art, and many more! It has always been on my bucket list to go to Italy. It is the perfect opportunity to visit the country especially while I am in college. I remember watching Lizzie McGuire as a child and she went to Rome and impersonated an Italian pop star, Isabella. She met this handsome man who took her to tour the city. Everyone eventually realized he was using her to ruin Isabella, but it was still a happy ending for Lizzie McGuire. I wanted that happy ending it looked like so much fun running around Rome. The expenses are outstanding for the trip, but at least I have an agenda all laid out by the program. For this study abroad, I could not find the exact requirements for attendance, but the minimum grade point average (GPA) for school activities are ranging from 2.5 to 4.0 GPA scale. The classes or study abroad will not be available if ten or more students are not enrolled. I would also recommend the students classification to be a junior or higher because at this point they are older and responsible enough to take their classes seriously and make it an adventurous tour of learning and exploring. The program does recommend a letter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hitler s annexation of Czechoslovakia breached the written guarantee he had issued to Chamberlain in Munich in 1938, stating that he had no further territorial demands to make in Europe. Therefore, on 31 March 1939, Chamberlain issued a formal guarantee of Poland s borders and said that he expected Hitler to moderate his demands. Hitler was not deterred, and on 3 April he ordered the Wehrmacht to prepare for the invasion of Poland on 1 September. Hitler was convinced that Chamberlain would not go to war to defend Poland and that France would lack the will to act alone. Nazi Soviet pact Hitler s only real concern was that a sudden German invasion of Poland might alarm Stalin and trigger a war with the Soviet Union. Stalin feared a German invasion and had been seeking an anti Nazi collective security alliance with the western powers for many years, but by July 1939 Britain and France had still not agreed terms. Poland had also rejected an alliance with the Soviet Union, and refused permission for the Red Army to cross its territory to engage the Wehrmacht in a future war. Hitler saw his opportunity, and authorised his Foreign Minister, Joachim von Ribbentrop to enter into secret negotiations with the Soviet Union. The result was the signing of the Nazi Soviet Pact on 23 August 1939. Both Hitler and Stalin set aside their mutual antipathy for national gain and in particular the restoration of their pre 1919 borders. Nazi Soviet pact Hitler s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Osi And Open Systems Interconnection The OSI, Open Systems Interconnection, model was first introduced in 1984 and was design to be a model and teaching tool to help better understand the rules of networking that systems must undergo to communicate. The OSI model consist of seven hierarchical layers that defines the path that data must travel. These layers are: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. The first and lowest level of the model is the Physical layer. The physical layer consists of the basic networking hardware transmission technologies of a network (Osi model.com). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third layer of the OSI model is the network layer and is where the routers and layer 3 switches would be. This layer is responsible for controlling subnets and deciding which path the data should take based on certain conditions. This layer is also responsible for IP (internet protocol) addresses, this includes both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Packets in this layer identify where the traffic originated (source IP address) and where it is going (destination IP address) (Gibson 166). In short, the OSI layer three network layer is responsible for connections, host addressing, and message forwarding. Protocols that operate on this layer are IPsec and ICMP. Layer four of the OSI model consist of the transport layer. In this layer, the protocols in this layer provide a host to host communication servers for applications (osi model.com). Within the layer four transport layer, we have TCP (transmission control protocol) and UDP (user datagram protocol) protocols. TCP is a more reliable protocol in ways of guaranteeing the delivery of the IP traffic. With TCP, you have a three way handshake in place, meaning that when you send a segment you should receive an acknowledgement that the segment was received. If it was not received, then you could resend. When using UDP, guarantee delivery of packets is not the main concern. The main advantage of UDP is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Dittmar, 2009). Surveys asking people how happy they are indicate that the average level of happiness has not increased over several decades, despite large increases in income per capita. For example, in the United States, income per capita has increase since 1950, yet the percentage of respondents who say they are very happy has not increase, and the percentage who says they are not very happy has not declined significantly. (Lee) Similar disconnects between happiness and income has been found in Japan, The United Kingdom, and continental Europe. Two explanations are often offered. The first explanation is that any additional happiness from more income results primarily from increasing our relative income, but we can increase our relative income only by reducing the relative income of others, which reduces their happiness. The second explanation is that the pursuit of money becomes addictive and reduces the time available for family and friends, intellectual pursuits, exercise and other activities that result in genuine happiness and, it is claimed, do not reduce the happiness of others. Happiness and money are not linked. A person can be really rich and be totally unhappy. Also a person can be really poor and be happy. Money can bring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It costs more money for a child to be homeschooled versus going to a public school, but it does cost less than attending a private school. A child who is homeschooled can do online schooling, but most of the time it is a parent or other older individual teaching a child during the day. Nothing is good except for a good will (Kant 9). For instance, courage is not good if it is used for evil purpose as hurting someone and being proud of it. However, will, the capacity to act from principle, is also related to duty. Moral worth can only be obtained if we act from duty. In other words, an action does not have a moral worth if you do not act from your duty. But, What determines our duty? The categorical imperative by Kant answer that questions and provides us with the response to What makes a moral right? or, What makes euthanasia right? I guess one can say it had to do with the stages of life that I went through. At times, I sought to admire individuals as a sense of community. Particularly, during my childhood, I spent much of my time admiring celebrities. From musicians to actors, I adored them. In fact, my pastel pink walls in my bedroom were hardly ever seen because they were covered with posters upon posters from my favorite pre teen magazine. That was one of my all time favorite past times; asking my mom for Bop magazine that all the posters and quizzes an eleven year old girl could ask for. I want the goal of this fandom autobiography to take my readers through my life journey and how I have become a die hard fan girl at times, to one that could care less. To develop an efficient and accurate demand forecasting model for electricity much effort has been put to find a relationship between the weather and the demand of electricity. Over the centuries, political theorists have established renditions of what political theory is. This essay will focus on Plato, Nietzsche, and Aristotle, and their works, which respectively define the concepts of the common good and the significance of philosophers to the welfare of the state, self deceiving intellect and the power of authority over our intellectual lives, and the concepts of interdependency and the importance of virtue and happiness for a successful political framework. Plato, and his works are renowned for the development of the most central principles of political philosophy. In Republic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept is based on his belief that philosophers are the only holders of true knowledge. In Republic Plato uses Socrates in dialogue to state, Once one has seen it (Forum of Good), however, one must conclude that it is the cause of all that is correct and beautiful in anything, that it produces both light and its source in the visible realm, and that in the intelligible realm it controls and provides truth and understanding, so that anyone who is to act sensibly in private or public must see it (Plato 189). Plato uses Socrates to argue that the only people with true knowledge are those who have access to the Forum of Good. According to Plato, this Forum is the source of all other forums and all intelligence and knowledge so a political state must have access to the Forum in order to thrive. However, the only ones who have access to this forum are philosophers and for this reason he argues that the welfare of the state is dependent on the existence of philosophers. He furthers this argument by stating that as a result it is philosophers who are most fit to rule, thus introducing the concept of a philosopher king as the most fit form of political rule for the welfare of all. These principles, although they have been adapted to account for differences in beliefs, societies, and political structures, are still the basis of many current political ... Alan Turing s Imitation Game Alan Turing s Imitation Game In Alan Turing s Computing Machinery, and Intelligence Turing proposes a test to distinguish whether a machine is intelligent or not in an unconventional way. His test is an alternative to the questions Can machines think? and offers an alternative where it is not possible to get misdirected by ambiguous terms. Turing argues that it is a sufficient test in the way that all machines that pass the test are intelligent, but not all intelligent machines will pass the test. In this essay I will address one particular objection, The Argument from Consciousness , namely how I do not feel that this argument in successful in it s attempt to undermine Turin s hypothesis. Many people have objections to Turing s test, objections that he counters in the latter part of his paper. In this particular objection Professor Jefferson brings up the idea that a machine cannot be deemed intelligent because it is unable to feel. A machine cannot compose art from thoughts or feelings, nor can a machine feel pleasure, guilt, or grief. Jefferson claims that until a machine is able to do these things, it cannot be considered as intelligent as the human brain. He claims that Turing s test does not ... State Control Of Alcohol Distribution State control of alcohol distribution is just one of many benevolent government formulations that in the end does more harm than good to the people of Pennsylvania. In their naïve, paternalistic attempt to defend moral virtues and to protect people from themselves, our state government continues to ridicule the American ideals of free market competition and individual liberty. Consumers should have the ability to purchase any variant of alcohol that private stores are willing to sell at the market price at any time. Private stores should be able to compete freely to sell alcohol to customers, selecting their own hours and enforcing their own rules on the sale of alcohol at their discretion. At long last, these free market principles appear to have once again taken hold in Harrisburg, as a bill is in place in the Pennsylvania Legislature that would privatize liquor sales in the state. In order to encourage the Pennsylvania Senate to act on the bill (the House passed it earlier in 2015), I submit this essay, wherein we will discuss both the pros and cons of privatizing liquor sales in Pennsylvania. By examining the major arguments for (such as the blossoming of new business opportunities see Wegman s bistro that serves alcohol) and the arguments against (such as worries that unfettered access to alcohol will lead to public health crises, and thus more taxes and debt for taxpayers) liquor privatization, I hope to elucidate the rhetoric employed by both sides of one ... This means if a nation is well armed, other nations will be wary of attacking it and hence peace will be preserved. Many governments do not like to be engaged in warfare or receive their soldiers in a black bag. Many families would prefer loved ones alive and not dead after a war. Even so, all countries in the world take actions to prepare their military forces to be ready in case they are needed. In recent wars, the use of technology has been one of the most important means to obtain the advantage over the enemy. Therefore, electronic warfare, as part of modern warfare, has become not only a concept but an effective tool to reinforce combatant soldiers on the ground. The control of the electromagnetic spectrum has now a significant role in military forces having an advantage over the enemy. Electronic attack, electronic protection and electronic warfare support are elements of electronic warfare. An electronic attack is the employment of energy to localize, interfere and destroy enemy assets, Department of the Army (2009). New weapons usually demand the use of a small segment of the electromagnetic spectrum, that is called the frequency at which every weapon works. The Age Of The Upper Class From 1837 to 1901 marks a new era for England, as it is ruled under Queen Victoria bringing an age of peace, prosperity, and a new nationalistic attitude within England itself. The large increase in population and a shift to a trade and manufacturing economy brings a new sense of competition amongst the citizens, developing a new value in aesthetics, status, and wealth to prove dominance in the ever growing society. Economic success, an ideal which began as a strictly upperclass desire, soon trickled down to the lower classes as new economic focuses permitted the conditions of the lower classes to improve due to the growing demand in industrial jobs. With social mobility at several poverty stricken citizen s footsteps, many could not help but to project the feelings of the upper class in their social lifestyles. An overarching attitude of competition in Victorian era England brought way to the diminishment of the former hierarchical notions as all classes displayed similar characteristics: the fixation on vanity, the indulgence in hedonistic tendencies, and the corruption accompanying influence, all of which are apparent in the dramatic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, and poems by Alfred Tennyson, Matthew Arnold, and Robert Browning. Steven Hawking, once an advocate of belief, in God, suddenly changed his mind. He stated that science offers a more convincing explanation for the origins of the universe, and that the miracles of religion aren t compatible with scientific fact. Although very unreasonable, this change of heart exhibits one of God s basic gifts to the human race: free choice. God will not force people to accept Him. Creationists and evolutionists will argue about the beginning of mankind until the end of mankind. There have been many famous scientists whose works have included God. Nicholas Copernicus, Sir Francis Bacon, and Galileo Galilei, to name a few, believed whole heartedly in a higher being. Rna Interference ( Rnai ) Introduction RNA interference (RNAi) is a biological process where a double stranded RNA (dsRNA) activates the degradation of the sequence dependent RNA target cell, causing a posttranscrip tional gene silencing mechanism or inhibition of cellular gene expression. 1 This mechanism was first discovered in Caenorhabditis elegans in 1998 by Andrew Z. Fire and Craig C. Mello, where they observed that the introduction of the dsRNA in the animal cell resulted in an inhibition expression of the homologous gene, and this phenomenon opened new possibilities on modulat ing gene sequences in the medical industry. 2 However, there are some major setbacks with the ongoing research of this siRNA molecules as therapeutic applications, including a possibility of silencing the healthy genes other than the target ones when the siRNA binds to the complementary mRNA strand. There are also some studies that have shown that with the application of the siRNA as a drug, it produces some unwanted side effects where it could be lethal if there s an overdose or can cause immunity to the siRNA, leading to the question: is siRNA as a form of a drug for medicinal purposes actually safe? Mechanism of the RNAi in action The RNAi mechanism (Figure 1) is triggered with the introduction of the small interfering RNA (siRNA) molecules via enzyme (Dicer) breakdown of the double stranded RNA (dsRNA), following an incorporation of these siRNA into an RNA induced silencing complex (RISC). The trend of challenge to Royal policies and authority in Early Stuart England (1603 49) was significant because it resulted in Civil War and the overthrow of monarchical government. This trend was influenced by political, social and economic forces. The political forces were mainly over the debate between absolutism and constitutionalism. Social forces involved a conflict within the Church of England between Arminianism/Laudianism and Puritanism. Underlying the political and social forces were economic forces which have been subject to considerable debate among historians.
