The Rome Statute marked historic moments of consensus in international criminal law in 2002 as it
entered into force. The first permanent international criminal Court (ICC) was established with the
main aim of ending impunity, promoting judicial independency and reaffirming the position of the
United Nations Charter (UNC).
The mandate of the Court is to try individuals and to hold such persons accountable for the most
serious crimes of concern to the international community as a whole, namely the crime of genocide,
war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the crime of aggression, when the conditions for the
exercise of the Court s jurisdiction over the latter are fulfilled.
In 1998 Rome Statute negotiation, the crime of aggression was listed among the major crimes
under the Court s jurisdiction in Article 5 of the Rome Statute but did not power the Court to use
jurisdiction over the crime thus contrasting the other crimes(genocide, crimes against humanity and
war crimes). This was because the Statute did not define the crime or set out jurisdictional rules.

I. Introduction
Temperature can greatly affect the metabolic rate of Carassius auratus auratus (goldfish). Carassius
auratus auratus(goldfish) are native to eastern Asia and was first discovered by the Chinese. Unlike
homoiotherm, Carassius auratus auratus(goldfish) are ectothermic, which means they adjust to
their surrounding temperature. In this lab, the dependent variable is the rate of breath per 15
seconds and the independent variable is the temperature in Celsius. Since Carassius auratus auratus
are ectothermic then their metabolic rate must go up as the temperature increase and goes down
when the temperature decrease.
II. Method
The material needed to recreate this lab is one goldfish in a cup big enough for the fish to swim in, a
bowl filled with water, one cup of ice, and one thermometer. Place the cup with the goldfish into
the bowl filled with water. Measure the temperature of the water in the bowl with the
thermometer to find the room temperature and after when you added the ice to cool the water
down. The room temperature should be around 20 degrees Celsius. Wait for 3 minutes for the
goldfish to adjust to the environment. Count the number of breaths of the goldfish per 15
seconds by counting the number of times when the gill cover open and close. Slowly added the
ice to the bowl to cool down the water temperature. Repeat the process for 20 degrees Celsius, 17.5
degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius.

Baruch Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher who was active in the mid to late 17th century. In
Spinoza s ontological argument he attempts to prove the existence of God as the root of all things

This means that existence is an inherent property of every substance and that existence is an
attribute of every substance.
Secondly, Spinoza claims that, Two substances having different attributes have nothing in common
with one another (Spinoza). He uses Definition 3 to justify this claim: By substance I understand
what is in itself and is conceived through itself, i.e., that whose concept does not require the concept
of another thing, from which it must be formed (Spinoza). In this Spinoza states that this substance
is made up entirely of itself whilst simultaneously having been created by itself. Since the substance
is created from itself, it is impossible for it to have been conceived by something else and therefore

Spinoza also states that If things have nothing in common with one another, one of them cannot be
