Serial Killers
Dennis Nilson stated a mind can be evil without being abnormal . If this is the case, then what makes a
serial killer tick? The definition of a serial killer is; a series of two or more murders committed as
separate events usually, but not always, by one offender standing alone. (Brookes, 1988) Over the
years, many murderers have been given this term. From the early days of Jack the Ripper, to the most
recently publicized case of the sniper , all have different motives and reasons to the crimes that they
commit. Most of the serial killers suffer from mental illness/addictions or have had traumatic life
experiences. This is not always the case though; some can also be racially motivated. The typical
serial killer is a lower to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malvo was sentenced to many life sentences without parole, and Muhammad was sentenced to the
death penalty. Both killers still have pending trials within other states.
Forensic Science
Forensic and DNA casework has been a major player in catching these cold blooded killers. Since
most investigators have to work from clues, they rely on these sources to lead them in the right
direction. Many findings such as, blood, weapons, hair, or any source of DNA can help put the puzzle
pieces of these cases together. This has solved many cases, and is a strong piece of evidence in the
judicial system.
Muhammad Malvoy, The Snipers In the sniper case, an anonymous caller (believed to be Muhammad)
told a priest to inform police to investigate a robbery in Alabama. When the police looked into the
robbery, part of the evidence Alabama s police force had found were a set of fingerprints from a
magazine. Further investigation proved these prints belongs to Malvo, who was already on file. Since
Malvo lived with Muhammad for a year in Washington, they were both linked together. After police
knew about Muhammad, they discovered he purchased an old police car in New Jersey. After
announcing to the public the type of vehicle to search for, it led to the capture of the two killers.

Rags To Riches Stories By Horatio Alger
The rags to riches stories by Horatio Alger have helped many people in the US to believe that hard
work will lead to sussess and wealthiness. Indeed, does not matter when 19th century or nowadays it
is difficult to control your own faith. Although there is a common belief that rich people take all, there
are some stories that prove othervise. Men. If you work hard is it possible to control social position?
My answer is yes, but there shound be terms ans sacrifices. Excluding slavery, bad physical health,
adding opportunities one could take that chance. However from my own perspective men have more
opportunities to take that chance. I know a Russian person who became a successful lawer in New
York. Sounds incredible, but he had to sacrifice

Spanish Edict Of Expulsion
The history of the Jewish people in Spain is certainly a pivotal time period that changed the future of
the Jews and specifically, the Sephardic Jews. At the time of the issuing and signing of the Edict of
Expulsion on March 31, 1492, Spanish Jews were experiencing the most persecution that had been felt
in the many centuries of which the Jews had been in Spain. Spanish Jewry came to a dramatic end
after almost a millennium of Jewish presence in the country. Spanish Jewry s golden age, however, the
Jews experienced almost no persecution, resulting in a new centre of Talmudic study, before suffering
from a relapse of anti Semitism that eventually led to the Inquisition and the Edict of Expulsion.

For the Jews, it was almost impossible to maintain any sliver of wealth that they had in Spain, since
Jews were forbidden to leave Spain with gold, silver or any other precious metals. As a result, only
their must prized or important possessions could be taken to their new home, as they were physically
restricted for what they could take. A delegation of influential Jewish people including the Chief
Rabbi of Castile, Abraham Senior and Issac Abarbanel, a financial adviser to the state appeared before
Ferdinand and Isabella as a last ditch effort to save Spanish Jewry and cancel the Edict of Expulsion.
The delegation presented the catholic monarchs with a bag of gold to support their argument, however,
Ferdinand and Isabella remained unchanged in respects to the Edict. The Jews began searching for
their new homes, and most Jews, unwilling to embark on a long voyage to a different region of the
world, sought to immigrate to Portugal, just west of Spain on the Iberian Peninsula. (SOURCE 8) A
delegation of Jews approached the King of Portugal, John II, and presented him with a large sum of
money for the permanent admission of affluent Jews into Portugal as well as a temporary home for
poor Spanish Jews. (SOURCE 9) Shortly after, the Jews once again had to look for a new home after
Manoel I, the new king of Portugal expelled the Jews from the country as a compliance with the
daughter of Queen

A Interview On Therapeutic Communication Of Older Adults
Overview of Interview
For this visit summary, I have interviewed a 90 95 year old assisted living resident that will be re
named Joyce for the purpose of this paper. Before constructing the interview, I was very excited and
anxious to meet the resident I was interviewing for the first time. Upon arrival, I was put to ease once
meeting a genuine elderly woman in the lobby that was just as excited to meet me for the first time.
When reflecting on the interview I am glad to have had prior knowledge on therapeutic
communication of older adults. I had seemly used all of the tips that the book had highlighted. These
tips include attentive listening, authentic presence, clarifying, keeping focus, and providing intervals
of silence (Touhy Jett, 2016, p. 67).
The most important piece of communication with Joyce was providing silence for her to gather her
thoughts in response to my questions. During the first interview she had told me that she forgot to put
her hearing aids in because she did not like to wear them. If she was unable to hear me she would ask
me to repeat the question and then she would pause in silence gathering her thoughts to see if she
heard me correctly. The missing hearing aids was a communication barrier in our interviewing
process. Since I was aware that she was not wearing her hearing aids, I made sure I was placed
directly in front of Joyce when talking and was looking at her as I spoke.
Joyce s Prospective
As I had previously mentioned, Joyce had seemed

Earthquakes In America
Because of the mass number of Hurricanes that have hit Texas, Puerto Rico, and Florida a majority of
AMericans are focused on cleaning up the damages caused by the hurricanes and hoe to be better
prepared when the next one comes. Because of this the American population is too preoccupied to
focus on other matters at hand. If we pay attention to the recent earrthquake that took place in Mexico
City we can see that the hurricanes aren t the only thing we should be worried about. The United
States seems to focus mainly on hurricanes, rather than on earthquakes, solely for the reason that,
especially recently, hurricanes have caused havoc among the citizens of America. Because of the fear
that America holds towards hurricanes they are so focused

Reflective Reflection On Reflections
Reflections Thunder crashed all around making the ground shake. I was running late as usual, but this
time I was not sure what I was late for. The ground was uneven as I ran to my destination; whether
that was home or work I can not quite remember. Consequently, I just knew I needed to arrive there
and quickly. Thunder boomed again, but this time it was different. Ahead a flash of lightning struck,
blinding me, causing my eyes to close for a split second, then I felt a breath of air tickle my neck. I
shut my eyes tight, terrified to turn around as goose bumps crawled up my arms. Nevertheless, I
turned around slowly opening my eyes, but there was only darkness surrounding me. Gasping, I
turned and sprinted the trees rushed past as I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking around for any sign of life, the floor creaking with step I took, I came to a black and white
striped door with no apparent way to enter. Is anyone there? I called hoping I would not receive an
answer. Slowly the door opened with a sigh and light beamed from the inside. Objects started to move
rapidly as the door spun out of control. I fell to my knees, overcome with fatigue and dizziness. When
it passed a new door stood in front of me though this time it was as tall as a toddler. Curious, I made
myself as tiny as I could wondering if I could fit. One arm made it through the door when suddenly
the sound of a chainsaw echoed throughout the hall. Too late I realized it was coming from the door. A
scream of agony escaped my mouth as the chainsaw penetrated my skin and slowly sawed my arm in
half. Stop! Please make it stop! I could not handle it any longer as the pain shot up my whole body.
Then, with a loud clunk my arm landed on the floor next to me. The pain from my arm numbed me to
the bone, tears streamed down my face finally turning into a waterfall of tears. Hmm. Melody, I like
the taste of that name, a silky voiced resonated around me. Twisting my head in the direction of the
voice I looked for the source but was unable to find one. W w who are you? I wailed. Nobody of
importance my dear. Pain still coursing through me, I delicately rose from

An Organization s Mission And Vision Statements
Balanced scorecards have been around since the 1990 s and was developed by Robert Kaplan and
David Norton (Edwards (2011) and is used by many organizations of all types all over the world, non
profit, for profit, governmental agencies, ect., in order to develop a strategic planning and improve
strategies within their organizational structures. It pertains to many different aspects from financial
aspects, employee retention, and customer satisfaction, internal and external perspectives, to employee
morale, as well as accountability. A balanced scorecard will indicate weaknesses and strengths of all
aspects within an organization such as finances, the business prospective, short and long term goals,
customer satisfaction, knowledgeable concepts, as well as the organization s mission and vision
statements. A balanced scorecard is created to measure the following aspects: perspectives, objectives,
initiatives, and targets all under one organization, but when doing so the organization s mission and
vision statements must be focused on as well. Prior to an organization considering implanting a
balanced scorecard the following should be considered, in order to be effective in there long range
goals and objectives: Is the organization s prepared for the results and determining their weakness and
strengths? Is the organization prepared to act on the results and acting on the results to improve the
organization prospective future, with the financial, customer, internal and

Terry was a man who worked for everything he had and everything he earned one of the most
important thing he has was the respect of his peers who saw him as an inventive improviser with a
graceful and ebullient style, traces of which can be heard in the playing of Miles Davis, Wynton
Marsalis and others (KEEPNEWS). Anyone listening to him now would know him as the man who
had a very unique way of warming up for practice. The vocal numbers where peppered his
performances with a unique brand of scat singing the noises as well as nonsense syllables took the
place of words. It was an off the cuff recording of one such song, released in 1964 under the name
Mumbles, that became his signature song which is why I believe his death was felt more by the many
Jazz artists than that of the general public. I also believe it wasn t as big of a deal because many do not
give Jazz the respect it deserves due to the era of smooth/soft Jazz taking over. Clark Terry as I have
said earlier created a legacy for himself that any musician would be happy to have as a teacher

Dracula And The New Woman
Dracula and the New Woman
In the Victorian era, women were viewed as subordinate to men. They often had one job:
reproduction. They would become housewives and cater to their husband and children s needs. As the
era progressed, so did the role of women. The once shy women were now changing into courageous
and outspoken members of society. These women were open about their sexuality and embraced their
intelligence. This new found independence was a turning moment in history and was given the name
the New Woman. The ever changing role of women into a new found independence was prominent in
literature as well. One of the most famous literatures is Dracula by Bram Stoker. It is evident that
Bram Stoker wrote about the New Woman throughout his novel. It is questionable whether Bram
Stoker wanted to embrace the New Woman in society or wanted to tear it down. In fact, neither is the
case. Bram Stoker created the ideal women in Dracula in order to embrace the woman character
without having to be open about their sexual identity. The portrayal of the women characters in the
novel gives evidence on why Dracula created the ideal woman instead of highlighting the New
Woman role. Stoker depicts the new woman in the beginning of the novel by illustrating several
examples of young, beautiful women. The first example is the three attractive vampires encountered
by Jonathan. These vampires represented young striking woman that were open about their sexual
needs. They are aristocratic,

What Are The Similarities Between The Colour Purple And...
The Bluest Eye V.S The Color Purple
In my essay, I ll be comparing and contrasting Pecola from novel The Bluest Eye , and Celie from the
movie The Color Purple . In the novel, The Bluest Eye , Pecola, and from the movie The Color Purple
, Celie, share many similarities in their stories. But they also have many differences that make them
who they are. They re both very young girls, going through a lot of struggles that you really wouldn t
be able to imagine happening, yet at the same time you can even compare it to yourself. To start off, I
d like to make a few comparisons about Pecola and Celie. Things that are similar between the two
characters is their lives. Pecola and Celie are both very young girls. Between the ages of 11 15. They
go through things that no child, nor anyone should go through. Like their beauty, or their sexual
innocence. Not only that, they re similar into how they see themselves, and what they go through with
their family. But at some points, Celie also shares a similarity to Geraldine. A black woman who lives
like a white woman. For example, getting married to do house work, and to please the man. Both
Celie and Geraldine don t feel any type of love towards their supposed significant other, but to another
living thing. For Geraldine, its her black pet cat, and for Celie, it s her little sister, Netty The loss of
innocence is what both characters share. Pecola, while at home doing house work, her father Cholly,
stumbles in drunk. For a while, he stands there and looks at Pecola. Imagining her as a younger
version of Pauline, Pecola s mother and Chollys wife. As Pecola s cleaning, Cholly makes a move on
her. Though it s not the first time he tried something like this to Pecola, he did succeed. Right in the
kitchen is where Pecola is raped by Cholly, taking away her innocence and leaving her pregnant. But
she loses the baby. Just like Celie. Celie, after her mother s death, is left with her younger sister and
father. Being the big sister, she does everything in her power to protect younger sibling, such as
protecting her from their father sexually assaulting her. Celie, after getting raped by her father, gets
pregnant, twice. She loses both babies.

Mechanical ventilation in Infective airway diseases
Introduction
Nearly 50% of patients with infective airway diseases are at an increased risk of developing Acute
Lung Injury or Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ALI/ARDS). Endotracheal intubation may be
lifesaving in these situations, as they allow provision of adequate tissue oxygenation, reduce the
respiratory muscle effort and avert hemodynamic embarrassment. Over the last 20 years, many
clinical evidences have highlighted the harmful consequences of invasive mechanical ventilation such
as Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) and excessive mechanical stress leading to perpetuation of

Mandatory Rotation Of Registered Public Accounting Firms
The mandatory audit partner rotation was also one of the aspect targeted by SOX and requires that
every lead partner or reviewing partner must be rotated every five years in order to bring a fresh look
to each engagement. A particular aspect of all this rotations is the possibility to impose mandatory
rotation of registered public accounting firms. The SOX requested to the Comptroller General of the
United States to conduct a study addressing this issue and the implications of this requirements.
Although the PCAOB has expressed the importance of having some type of rotation in the registered
CPA firms and in 2011 issued a concept release proposing mandatory audit firm rotation, some
congressman like Republican Robert Hurt have taken steps in order to avoid this type of regulations
and the Audit Integrity and Job Protection Act was passed by the House of Representatives in 2013.
These act prohibit the mandatory rotation of registered CPA firms arguing this decision correspond to
the audit committee and the shareholders of the corporation and no to regulators. In my opinion, the
mandatory registered CPA firm rotation is an unnecessary burden to impose to companies, especially
small corporations, that would be force to be changing constantly and without any justification of CPA
firm. The current audit partner rotation in CPA firms grant that each partner is liable for the work
performed by him and his team which ensures the transparency and reliability of the audit they do.

Fountain Hills Research Papers
What is Fountain Hills? What is Fountain Hills, Arizona? Underneath the surface of this quiet town,
there is an interesting history, an abundance of amenities, and a wealth of opportunity for
entertainment and experiences. The land that became Fountain Hills has an interesting past. In the
1930 s, it was the privately owned, P Bar Ranch, and had a vague history. After changing hands
several times, it came into the possession of Robert P. McCulloch. Robert Paxton McCulloch (May 11,
1911 February 25, 1977) was an entrepreneur and industrialist, who graduated from Stanford
University, and had a curious history of his own. He developed the one man operated chainsaw, built
three other communities, purchased the old London Bridge, developed a centrifugal supercharger used
in such iconic cars as the 55 Kaiser Manhattan, 57 Studebaker Golden Hawk, and the 57 Ford
Thunderbird, and built several companies still active today. McCulloch purchased the 45,000 acres of
P Bar Ranch in 1960, and enlisted his friend Charles Wood, Jr. to help him start a community there. ...

Choral Chorus Research Paper
A choral ensemble is an organized group of singers, varying in size, that perform together with an
orchestra or opera company. Choral ensembles have been around for thousands and thousands of
years. They have been around for so long that the ancient Greeks used a chorus in their live Greek
Dramas as a major part of their storytelling. Some may believe that a chorus just needs to have lovely
singers in their group and they are good, but that is not the case. In a choral ensemble, numerous
factors like teamwork, participation, attendance, and discipline can make or break a chorus and can
extremely impact their sound.
Discipline is something that is always needed to control large groups of people. In chorus, it is no

It seems like a waste of time if you learn all the songs and come to all the practices and concerts and
just mouth the words the whole time. It may seem like your voice does not matter in an enormous
choral ensemble, but if every single person in that ensemble were to have a mindset like that, no one
would be singing. Also, every voice does matter and can impact a group. If you re not confident in
your voice and that is why you re not participating, then you are robbing yourself out of good practice
time. The more you practice and sing, even if it is done poorly, the more you will improve. It is also
crucial to participate even when the ensemble is not singing. Answering a question that the teacher
asks shows that you are being attentive and are always listening to your teacher. When an instructor
asks a question that they want the choir to answer and no one answers it shows that no one is paying
attention and it is very disrespectful. Finally, and most importantly, working together as a team is
crucial for a choral ensemble to function properly. When a chorus is in harmony, they make the
best...harmonies. When there is tension and negativity surrounding an ensemble, it is heard through
their music and it does not sound good. Teamwork is the foundation of all choral ensembles. The
better the relationship of the group, the better and more

only direct but also to remark on the action of the play. Iago speaks his soliloquies before Othello, this
draws the audience into his point of view. Iago s use of soliloquies supports his power of words.
Shakespeare forces the audience to connive with the villain when he addresses the audience. We see
Othello through Iago s narration. The opposition between Iago and Othello supports the idea of a
foreign moor being positioned higher than a white Venison. When taking into consideration the point
of view established by Iago, it is clear that Shakespeare was highly influenced by the global
controversy over racial differences and origin during the Renaissance (Vaughan, 1996:5). As Iago is
undeniably jealous of Othello his narrative point of view cannot be trusted as it is based on a
subjective vendetta that he manifested in his words and actions towards

A Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
In the world of sex, drugs, and baby cloning you are going to be in many situations where you feel
like the world we live in should be different. In the story Brave New World, they had sex with
multiple partners along with a very bad use of drugs.
It is weird that Aldous Huxley wrote this book in 1931 about the world he was living in during that
time and how it is similar to the world we live in today. Nowadays, drugs are still being used and
people are still engaging in sexual encounters with multiple partners. Things are no different than they
use to be. People still to this day are using drugs and committing adultery as if there aren t any
diseases out there. In the story they introduced a drug named Soma. This particular drug was the
narcotic they used to escape the world they lived in.
Aldous Huxley did not like being in London because he felt the people there were basically all the
same. Aldous Huxley was characterized by people as being very weird to people because he didn t like
to do the things they did. He became so weird to people that the press and news reporters became
interested in talking to him in order to find out more about him. I have a connection with this
particular story because the world I m living in today is based on the same things he described.
Sex is the main thing teenagers care about nowadays. In my generation kids look at you funny or think
you are weird if you do not have sex or have sex as often as they do. It seems as if people

Essay Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer Breast cancer is a disease that is becoming more and more popular in this day of age.
One in every eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer (Breast Cancer, 2010). Women and men
who suffer from breast cancer not only are fighting cancer but are also fighting the psychological
aspects of the disease. Breast Cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer among women in the United
States right behind skin cancer. Women are now surviving breast cancer a lot more frequently because
of the treatments out there to help. In 2008, the number of breast cancer survivors was 2.5 million

The physician may order a mammogram or ultra sound. Women are recommended to have yearly
mammograms after the age 40, but earlier if breast cancer runs in the family (National Cancer
Institute). A mammogram detects lumps in the breast and is an x ray picture of tissues inside a person
s breast. It may detect a lump before it is even felt by someone. A ultrasound also is a test that can
show details of the breast lump and its sound waves creates pictures showing if the lump is solid,
filled with fluid or a little of both. When it shows a sign of a more solid lump it is greater risk of
cancer (National Cancer Institute). Once a breast lump is detected and shows signs of being cancerous
the lump is then removed or biopsied. Biopsy is a tissue removal which is looking for cancerous cells.
There are several different types of biopsies, but is the true way to tell if these cells in the breast are
cancerous. These different types of biopsies are fine needle aspiration, core biopsy, skin biopsy or
surgical biopsy. After the tissue is removed then they can send it to the lab to determine if a person has
cancer or not (National Cancer Institute). The lump will then be considered either benign or
malignant. Benign is good meaning no cancer present, but malignant means that there is cancer
present in the tumor. After determining that a person has breast cancer it must then be staged.

Let The Right One Is A Stage Adaptation By Jack Thorne
On October 1, 2016, I attended a production of Let the Right One In at The University of Oklahoma in
the Weiztenhoffer Theater. Let the Right One in is a stage adaptation by Jack Thorne based on the
Swedish novel Marla Rubin Productions Ltd. and it was directed by Tom Huston Orr as a fall main
stage production for the university (University Theatre Program). Let the Right One In was
captivating and occupied the space with great power. Immediately once the show began, I noticed the
forwarding aspect of the overlapping scenes to help bring momentum to the production. The specific
reference I am making is to the introduction of the character Oskar, who was played by Sam Pinson,
coupled with Hakan s first murder. Hakan was played by Weston Vrooman and his first victim in the
production is Torkel who was portrayed by Austin Reid. The overlapping of their two scenes set up a
fast pace that added to some of the suspense the show itself calls for in its mood. I really enjoyed this
directing choice to have the bar placed for high energy and pace right as the show began. Another
aspect that I thought worked well for this production was the casting choice of Sam Pinson for Oskar.
The reason I mention this is because Sam is not what I would expect in the casting of a young teenage
boy. He is tall and not the typical type for that role. I had been skeptical of this decision because of
how Sam is not visibly close to a child in the least, but Sam portrayed the role in a way that was

Urbanization And Industrialization
It s amazing how many roads have been made, skyscrapers have been thrown up and technology has
been invented in just a hundred years. The transition from agriculture to mass production know as the
industrial revolution has impacted all of our lives from indoor plumbing to electricity. Industrialization
is a process that leads to a significantly increased proportion of a population engaged in factory work
and nonagricultural occupations; it increases the number of people living near factories and relying on
mechanically produced goods and services (Monti et al. 2015: 191). Industrialization in Western
societies brought about about urbanization, the movement of populations from rural to urban areas; the
growth and development and redevelopment of cities (Monti et al. 2015: 192). The shift to larger
effective machines caused many factories to open up which in turn provided opportunity for people
seeking jobs. The jobs brought in employees and their families, which created a need for more
housing. As more and more people moved near factories, cities became larger and more dense. Many
changes occurred as societies changed from rural and small to large, industrial and urban settings.
German sociologist Ferdinand Tönnies wrote about the changes that took place as societies became
urban. Tonnies wrote that there was a strong sense of community, or Gemeinschaft, is prevalent in
traditional, rural areas. He believed that there was a strong sense of kinship, neighborhood and

Abolish Death Penalty
Fifty eight countries in the world participate in the use of the death penalty, in 2010 the United States
ranked fifth in having the most executions even though only thirty five states in the US legalized it.
The death penalty is inhumane and you can argue it violates the constitution by using cruel and
unusual punishments, that said The death penalty has many flaws with the system and it it should be
abolished because it has a risk of discrimination and wrongful execution, it is not effective, and the
cost of the system. The United States should abolish the death penalty because there is a chance of
wrongful execution and discrimination. In 2011 Illinois became the 16th state to abolish it, the main

The death penalty was established in the eighteenth century BC, two main reasons the death penalty
was put into place was with the hope of reducing capital crime because of the result being in death and
the believe that criminals who did a crime so bad that qualify for death row did not deserve to live, but
that system is no longer believed to be effective anymore. According to U.S Newswire fifty seven
percent of police chiefs agreed that the death penalty does little to prevent violent crimes because
perpetrators rarely consider the consequences when engaged in violence(2). The death penalty is also
ineffective because ninety percent of offenders can not afford an adequate criminal defence lawyer.
This shows that only ten percent of offenders are getting the right defence against higher punishments
and charges. Some people argue that the death penalty is effective because people who qualify for
death row deserve to die, but many can also argue that the death row violates the constitution by using
inhuman and crucial punishments. People also use the quote An eye for an eye but would anyone
really be left on earth if that was the case? Times are different now then they were back in the
eighteenth century, slavery was abolished in 1865, segregation was abolished in 1964, why have we

Registered Practical Nurses
When you re in a hospital, clinic, or nursing home you are constantly surrounded by nurses. However,
you don t really know what type of nurse s you re surrounded by, or maybe you do; but would you be
able to tell what the differences between the two really are? I ve heard many people state that
Registered Nurses (RN s) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPN s) are the same, however, they are
not. RN s and RPN s differ in many areas such as schooling, level of patient care, and salary due to
ranking. When becoming a RN or RPN one must go to school in order to be able to obtain the
knowledge and skills needed however, the schooling process for these two specialities are very
different. If you are a person who believes that it s the same, you would be wrong; in being a
registered nurse you must apply and go to university for a total of 4 years to obtain a RN s degree.
However, a RN can also take a two year college, two year university program and gain that degree,
therefore making two routes available to them. Whereas a registered practical nurse applies and goes
to only college for a total of two years and obtains an RPN diploma showing people that there is a lot

does affect how much each individual gets paid, since an RN is a supervisor and has a wider scope of
practice pertaining going to a more knowledge based program they can earn wages from $22 an hour

English 111 Lights, Camera, and Tactics Have you ever wondered where the photo of your favorite
celebrity came from? Who took it? How much was paid for the photo? Was anyone injured or
harassed in the process of taking this photo? Do celebrities have a right to privacy? This essay takes a
look at the paparazzi, the celebrities, the tactics used to take the pictures, and the tactics used to avoid
a photo from being taken.
The Paparazzi
The paparazzi are possibly the most despised media practitioners. Members of this group can be seen
on the streets of Los Angeles and New York, hoping to catch an unguarded moment of a celebrity,
buying coffee, walking a dog, or doing just about any mundane activity. (Mendelson 1) ... Show more

Valdez writes,
Everything from disguises to decoys are used to avoid recognition in public places. At times,
celebrities use multiple cars to cover travel routes. False press statements and an alias can cover a
celebrity s whereabouts. More low tech solutions involve canopies over outdoor events and good old
fashioned bruiser security to keep the paparazzi at bay. (Valdez 6)
There are numerous tactics used to one up the paparazzi, including releasing photos of weddings and
first photos of their newborn babies to publications before the paparazzi can. Valdez reports, Catherine
Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas took perhaps some of the most famous and extreme set of measures
to keep paparazzi out of the picture at their wedding. The security measures cost over $60,000, which
included: All of the caterers, help, suppliers and any other vendors associated with the wedding had to
sign confidentiality agreements (even the ones that didn t get the job). And No wedding guests were
given the time or location of the wedding until the last minute. (Valdez 6) But even with the enormous
measures taken, paparazzo Rupert Thorpe managed to infiltrate the wedding and snap shots of the
bride and groom that he later sold to publications Hello! and The Sun. The celebrity couple was
furious and sought legal action, won a nominal settlement against the publications. (Valdez 6)
Supermodel Heidi Klum took a similar approach to keep paparazzi away from her daughter.

Urinary Tract Infection Essay
Urinary Tract Infection
The urinary tract is the body s is a filtration system that makes sure nutrients are absorbed into the
bloodstream and toxins are rejected as waste and come out in liquid form through the bladder and
urethra. Any substance unrecognized by this system such as bacteria can cause an infection in this
tract system in the body known as urinary tract infection (UTI).
The urinary system is made up of the kidneys, the ureters, bladder and urethra. The kidneys take
nutrients from liquids that are nurturing to the body. Bladder is like an overflow that holds urine
waiting to be released. The urethra is the tubes that extend from the bladder through to the end of the
penis or vagina. Lastly, the ureters are tubes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other reasons for infection could be having other medical issues such as prostate inflammation in
men, or having a disease like AIDS, which depresses the immune system to fight off bacteria in the
body. When people have a catheter put in, there could also be a high risk of infection to occur.
Additional cause of UTI could be internal as well. If E. coli in the colon seeps its way into the urinary
tract, an infection is sure to follow (Urinary Tract Infection Cancer Symptoms, chemotherapy Chemo
Side Effects, 2005).
There are many symptoms we can be made aware of by self examination. A common symptom is an
overwhelming burning sensation while urinating. Cloudy or bloody urine, along with abnormal
frequency, is another symptom. A foul smell can be associated also with the infection. Feeling tired or
sluggish with a slight fever marks an unusual bodily occurrence and should be looked at. Someone
who is older could experience only uneasiness due to age. Lower back pain and abdomen is a sign of
infection. If any of these symptoms occur, a person should consult a physician immediately (Zieve,
2011).
There are ways to prevent a UTI without having to change a normal lifestyle. Eating a healthy diet,
including fresh fruits and vegetables instead of high intake of sugar and fats, is a great way to remain
infection free. Drinking juices instead of man made sodas with

Keeping your logs stored in neatly stacked piles is the best thing you can do to begin the perfect

Choose your fire starter wisely: flammable liquids are dangerous, but something organic like laundry

Random Acts Of Kindness, Altruistic And Prosocial Behavior
Comparison Matrix Paper Random acts of kindness, altruistic and prosocial behavior can elaborate to
being a hero. An elderly lady is standing in a grocery line fumbling through her bag to find the change
needed to complete her transaction, yet she ends up empty handed. A young man behind here hesitates
to ask if he could be of assistance, yet the heroic behavior would be to give her the amount needed to
complete the transaction, a prosocial behavior. Prosocial behavior is any act performed with the goals
of benefiting another person (Aronson, Wilson, Akert, 2010). This comparison matrix paper will show
the differences and similarities of the authors by comparing their introductions, the purpose of each
study, their research questions, the literature reviews, the sample population, study limitations, results
and conclusions, and suggested topics for future studies. Franco, Blau, and Zimbardo (2011) offer a
straightforward definition of heroism as to act in a prosocial manner without a personal gain. They
continue by explaining that only a few can reach heroic status and must be equipped with the proper
skills or luck. Whereas, Harvey, Erdos, and Turnbull (2009) defines heroism in their article s
introduction as a man or woman of distinguished bravery, a person who is reverenced and put on a
pedestal, or any famous person. These researchers find differences in opinions as to the definition of
heroism. Franco et al. (2011) argues heroes work without capital gains; whereas,

The Importance Of Greed In The Gililded Age And The...
Greed is a person who has a selfish and excessive desire for more than is needed. It is putting one s
own self interest ahead while damaging another person (Merriam Webster Dictionary). To be greedy
can include anything from fame, money, status, power, and influence. Although greed has a negative
connotation, there is a positive aspect to it. An example would be self interest. In one s perspective,
they can view self interest as a bad thing; on the other hand, a person can view self interest as
something good. Gordon Gekko made two speeches describing that greed is good and that it is not
good. The endless debate of whether greed is good or bad forces people to evaluate to what end does
greed take part in the Gilded Age and the Industrial Revolution. It makes people take in the
perspective of the relationship between greed, technology, risk taking, and the desire to get ahead.
In a way, greed served as the central component of the Gilded Age and the Industrial Revolution.
Mark Twain coined the term Gilded Age because it describes the facade that covered the economic
and social problems. It illustrates the widening of the gap between the rich and poor (Foner 600). New
advancements in technology such as the railroads and telephones lines cause the United States to
transform economically and politically. This causes rapid immigration into the United States because
there was an abundant amount of jobs created. Corruption started gaining momentum because of the

Although the intent was to keep the armed forces of South Korea well trained against a possible war,
poor U.S. military aid and use of U.S. advisors were not enough to keep its forces and eventually, they
were under trained and under supported (Cumings 6). In the National Security Council report of 2
April 1948, The Position of the U.S. with Respect to Korea, American government extended the aid,
training, and equipping the Korean armed forces only with an intent to keep its forces capable of
protecting the security of South Korea against any but an overt act of aggression by North Korean or
other forces (Tucker 808). The Truman administration at the time believed that the South Korean
President Syngman Rhee, who was known for constantly threatening the U.S. with bukgin slogans
(march north), might use the heavy weapons to unify Korea by force, creating tensions between
neighboring nations such as the USSR. This led American government decision to keep South Korea
in check by keeping its military capability as minimal as possible (Leckie 36). By early 1950, the
army of South Korea numbered only 60,000 with actual combat capabilities out

  • 2. Serial Killers Dennis Nilson stated a mind can be evil without being abnormal . If this is the case, then what makes a serial killer tick? The definition of a serial killer is; a series of two or more murders committed as separate events usually, but not always, by one offender standing alone. (Brookes, 1988) Over the years, many murderers have been given this term. From the early days of Jack the Ripper, to the most recently publicized case of the sniper , all have different motives and reasons to the crimes that they commit. Most of the serial killers suffer from mental illness/addictions or have had traumatic life experiences. This is not always the case though; some can also be racially motivated. The typical serial killer is a lower to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Malvo was sentenced to many life sentences without parole, and Muhammad was sentenced to the death penalty. Both killers still have pending trials within other states. Forensic Science Forensic and DNA casework has been a major player in catching these cold blooded killers. Since most investigators have to work from clues, they rely on these sources to lead them in the right direction. Many findings such as, blood, weapons, hair, or any source of DNA can help put the puzzle pieces of these cases together. This has solved many cases, and is a strong piece of evidence in the judicial system. Muhammad Malvoy, The Snipers In the sniper case, an anonymous caller (believed to be Muhammad) told a priest to inform police to investigate a robbery in Alabama. When the police looked into the robbery, part of the evidence Alabama s police force had found were a set of fingerprints from a magazine. Further investigation proved these prints belongs to Malvo, who was already on file. Since Malvo lived with Muhammad for a year in Washington, they were both linked together. After police knew about Muhammad, they discovered he purchased an old police car in New Jersey. After announcing to the public the type of vehicle to search for, it led to the capture of the two killers. Although there is a common belief that rich people take all, there are some stories that prove othervise. Men. If you work hard is it possible to control social position? My answer is yes, but there shound be terms ans sacrifices. Excluding slavery, bad physical health, adding opportunities one could take that chance. • 4. Spanish Edict Of Expulsion The history of the Jewish people in Spain is certainly a pivotal time period that changed the future of the Jews and specifically, the Sephardic Jews. At the time of the issuing and signing of the Edict of Expulsion on March 31, 1492, Spanish Jews were experiencing the most persecution that had been felt in the many centuries of which the Jews had been in Spain. Spanish Jewry came to a dramatic end after almost a millennium of Jewish presence in the country. Spanish Jewry s golden age, however, the Jews experienced almost no persecution, resulting in a new centre of Talmudic study, before suffering from a relapse of anti Semitism that eventually led to the Inquisition and the Edict of Expulsion. For the Jews, it was almost impossible to maintain any sliver of wealth that they had in Spain, since Jews were forbidden to leave Spain with gold, silver or any other precious metals. As a result, only their must prized or important possessions could be taken to their new home, as they were physically restricted for what they could take. A delegation of influential Jewish people including the Chief Rabbi of Castile, Abraham Senior and Issac Abarbanel, a financial adviser to the state appeared before Ferdinand and Isabella as a last ditch effort to save Spanish Jewry and cancel the Edict of Expulsion. The delegation presented the catholic monarchs with a bag of gold to support their argument, however, Ferdinand and Isabella remained unchanged in respects to the Edict. The Jews began searching for their new homes, and most Jews, unwilling to embark on a long voyage to a different region of the world, sought to immigrate to Portugal, just west of Spain on the Iberian Peninsula. (SOURCE 8) A delegation of Jews approached the King of Portugal, John II, and presented him with a large sum of money for the permanent admission of affluent Jews into Portugal as well as a temporary home for poor Spanish Jews. (SOURCE 9) Shortly after, the Jews once again had to look for a new home after Manoel I, the new king of Portugal expelled the Jews from the country as a compliance with the daughter of Queen ... • 5. A Interview On Therapeutic Communication Of Older Adults Overview of Interview For this visit summary, I have interviewed a 90 95 year old assisted living resident that will be re named Joyce for the purpose of this paper. Before constructing the interview, I was very excited and anxious to meet the resident I was interviewing for the first time. Upon arrival, I was put to ease once meeting a genuine elderly woman in the lobby that was just as excited to meet me for the first time. When reflecting on the interview I am glad to have had prior knowledge on therapeutic communication of older adults. I had seemly used all of the tips that the book had highlighted. These tips include attentive listening, authentic presence, clarifying, keeping focus, and providing intervals of silence (Touhy Jett, 2016, p. 67). The most important piece of communication with Joyce was providing silence for her to gather her thoughts in response to my questions. During the first interview she had told me that she forgot to put her hearing aids in because she did not like to wear them. If she was unable to hear me she would ask me to repeat the question and then she would pause in silence gathering her thoughts to see if she heard me correctly. The missing hearing aids was a communication barrier in our interviewing process. Since I was aware that she was not wearing her hearing aids, I made sure I was placed directly in front of Joyce when talking and was looking at her as I spoke. Joyce s Prospective As I had previously mentioned, Joyce had seemed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Earthquakes In America Because of the mass number of Hurricanes that have hit Texas, Puerto Rico, and Florida a majority of AMericans are focused on cleaning up the damages caused by the hurricanes and hoe to be better prepared when the next one comes. Because of this the American population is too preoccupied to focus on other matters at hand. If we pay attention to the recent earrthquake that took place in Mexico City we can see that the hurricanes aren t the only thing we should be worried about. The United States seems to focus mainly on hurricanes, rather than on earthquakes, solely for the reason that, especially recently, hurricanes have caused havoc among the citizens of America. • 7. Reflective Reflection On Reflections Reflections Thunder crashed all around making the ground shake. I was running late as usual, but this time I was not sure what I was late for. The ground was uneven as I ran to my destination; whether that was home or work I can not quite remember. Consequently, I just knew I needed to arrive there and quickly. Thunder boomed again, but this time it was different. Ahead a flash of lightning struck, blinding me, causing my eyes to close for a split second, then I felt a breath of air tickle my neck. I shut my eyes tight, terrified to turn around as goose bumps crawled up my arms. Nevertheless, I turned around slowly opening my eyes, but there was only darkness surrounding me. Looking around for any sign of life, the floor creaking with step I took, I came to a black and white striped door with no apparent way to enter. Is anyone there? I called hoping I would not receive an answer. Slowly the door opened with a sigh and light beamed from the inside. Objects started to move rapidly as the door spun out of control. I fell to my knees, overcome with fatigue and dizziness. When it passed a new door stood in front of me though this time it was as tall as a toddler. Curious, I made myself as tiny as I could wondering if I could fit. One arm made it through the door when suddenly the sound of a chainsaw echoed throughout the hall. Too late I realized it was coming from the door. A scream of agony escaped my mouth as the chainsaw penetrated my skin and slowly sawed my arm in half. Stop! Please make it stop! I could not handle it any longer as the pain shot up my whole body. Then, with a loud clunk my arm landed on the floor next to me. The pain from my arm numbed me to the bone, tears streamed down my face finally turning into a waterfall of tears. Hmm. Melody, I like the taste of that name, a silky voiced resonated around me. Twisting my head in the direction of the voice I looked for the source but was unable to find one. W w who are you? I wailed. Nobody of importance my dear. Clark Terry was a man who worked for everything he had and everything he earned one of the most important thing he has was the respect of his peers who saw him as an inventive improviser with a graceful and ebullient style, traces of which can be heard in the playing of Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis and others (KEEPNEWS). Anyone listening to him now would know him as the man who had a very unique way of warming up for practice. The vocal numbers where peppered his performances with a unique brand of scat singing the noises as well as nonsense syllables took the place of words. It was an off the cuff recording of one such song, released in 1964 under the name Mumbles, that became his signature song which is why I believe his death was felt more by the many Jazz artists than that of the general public. I also believe it wasn t as big of a deal because many do not give Jazz the respect it deserves due to the era of smooth/soft Jazz taking over. They would become housewives and cater to their husband and children s needs. As the era progressed, so did the role of women. The once shy women were now changing into courageous and outspoken members of society. These women were open about their sexuality and embraced their intelligence. This new found independence was a turning moment in history and was given the name the New Woman. The ever changing role of women into a new found independence was prominent in literature as well. One of the most famous literatures is Dracula by Bram Stoker. It is evident that Bram Stoker wrote about the New Woman throughout his novel. It is questionable whether Bram Stoker wanted to embrace the New Woman in society or wanted to tear it down. In fact, neither is the case. Bram Stoker created the ideal women in Dracula in order to embrace the woman character without having to be open about their sexual identity. The portrayal of the women characters in the novel gives evidence on why Dracula created the ideal woman instead of highlighting the New Woman role. Stoker depicts the new woman in the beginning of the novel by illustrating several examples of young, beautiful women. The first example is the three attractive vampires encountered by Jonathan. These vampires represented young striking woman that were open about their sexual needs. They are aristocratic, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Bluest Eye V.S The Color Purple In my essay, I ll be comparing and contrasting Pecola from novel The Bluest Eye , and Celie from the movie The Color Purple . In the novel, The Bluest Eye , Pecola, and from the movie The Color Purple , Celie, share many similarities in their stories. But they also have many differences that make them who they are. They re both very young girls, going through a lot of struggles that you really wouldn t be able to imagine happening, yet at the same time you can even compare it to yourself. To start off, I d like to make a few comparisons about Pecola and Celie. Things that are similar between the two characters is their lives. Pecola and Celie are both very young girls. Between the ages of 11 15. They go through things that no child, nor anyone should go through. Like their beauty, or their sexual innocence. Not only that, they re similar into how they see themselves, and what they go through with their family. But at some points, Celie also shares a similarity to Geraldine. A black woman who lives like a white woman. For example, getting married to do house work, and to please the man. Both Celie and Geraldine don t feel any type of love towards their supposed significant other, but to another living thing. For Geraldine, its her black pet cat, and for Celie, it s her little sister, Netty The loss of innocence is what both characters share. Pecola, while at home doing house work, her father Cholly, stumbles in drunk. For a while, he stands there and looks at Pecola. Imagining her as a younger version of Pauline, Pecola s mother and Chollys wife. As Pecola s cleaning, Cholly makes a move on her. Though it s not the first time he tried something like this to Pecola, he did succeed. Right in the kitchen is where Pecola is raped by Cholly, taking away her innocence and leaving her pregnant. But she loses the baby. Just like Celie. Celie, after her mother s death, is left with her younger sister and father. Being the big sister, she does everything in her power to protect younger sibling, such as protecting her from their father sexually assaulting her. Celie, after getting raped by her father, gets pregnant, twice. She loses both babies. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A particular aspect of all this rotations is the possibility to impose mandatory rotation of registered public accounting firms. The SOX requested to the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study addressing this issue and the implications of this requirements. Although the PCAOB has expressed the importance of having some type of rotation in the registered CPA firms and in 2011 issued a concept release proposing mandatory audit firm rotation, some congressman like Republican Robert Hurt have taken steps in order to avoid this type of regulations and the Audit Integrity and Job Protection Act was passed by the House of Representatives in 2013. These act prohibit the mandatory rotation of registered CPA firms arguing this decision correspond to the audit committee and the shareholders of the corporation and no to regulators. In my opinion, the mandatory registered CPA firm rotation is an unnecessary burden to impose to companies, especially small corporations, that would be force to be changing constantly and without any justification of CPA firm. Let the Right One In was captivating and occupied the space with great power. Immediately once the show began, I noticed the forwarding aspect of the overlapping scenes to help bring momentum to the production. The specific reference I am making is to the introduction of the character Oskar, who was played by Sam Pinson, coupled with Hakan s first murder. Hakan was played by Weston Vrooman and his first victim in the production is Torkel who was portrayed by Austin Reid. The overlapping of their two scenes set up a fast pace that added to some of the suspense the show itself calls for in its mood. I really enjoyed this directing choice to have the bar placed for high energy and pace right as the show began. Another aspect that I thought worked well for this production was the casting choice of Sam Pinson for Oskar. The reason I mention this is because Sam is not what I would expect in the casting of a young teenage boy. He is tall and not the typical type for that role. Industrialization is a process that leads to a significantly increased proportion of a population engaged in factory work and nonagricultural occupations; it increases the number of people living near factories and relying on mechanically produced goods and services (Monti et al. 2015: 191). Industrialization in Western societies brought about about urbanization, the movement of populations from rural to urban areas; the growth and development and redevelopment of cities (Monti et al. 2015: 192). The shift to larger effective machines caused many factories to open up which in turn provided opportunity for people seeking jobs.
