Examples Of Stereotyping In The Workplace
A stereotype is a way to determine where a person or thing falls in the realm of life. Stereotyping is a
natural part of life and it actually does have a meaning in reality. It allows a person s mind to work
properly and for the human brain to be able to recognize, process, store and then recall the information
when needed. It can also be used in racial, political, and religious ways and many more ways.
Stereotyping in a racial way is judging people by the color of their skin, where they come from, or the
language they speak. It can be both good and bad to stereotype, it just depends on how it is being said.
Stereotyping in a religious way is judging people by what they believe in. Stereotyping in a political
way is judging people in the political party they support. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It causes low morale for a single person who is doing it or a group of people. A general problem a
workplace can encounter is stereotyping other people and it can give bad publicity and a bad
reputation for the workplace. It is illegal to discriminate against people and the consequences are very
crucial. If the workplace requires teamwork it is a very bad thing to stereotype and the company will
not be as successful. A company wants good working relationships with its employees, not bad
working relationships. When one person is judging another, they no longer have the need to get to
know each other and think of themselves as if they are better than the other. Communication is key for
two individuals and groups and an essential part for the workplace. It is important to be open minded
of other people and judge people on first impressions instead of not talking to

Marxism In The Grapes Of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath tells the bitter story of the Joad family as it struggles to survive and to maintain
its dignity in the middle of the Great Depression. But it is also the story of the social class of people
like the Joads, tenant farmers who have lost their land and decide to move to California in hope of
finding a better life. John Steinbeck wrote The Grapes of Wrath, in 1939, amid the Great Depression,
in response to the enduring he saw of individuals with disadvantages. He wrote regarding Oklahomans
that were incapable to continue farming since of the disastrous climate conditions. Particularly, he
wrote about the Joad family having to emigrate to California. Steinbeck composed the novel from a
Marxist point of view. Steinbeck is supporting Marxist thoughts by delineating the distinction of
individuals included in capitalism, as the owners take advantage of the helpless.
In the Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, Steinbeck uses Marxist beliefs to plot the long battle
experienced by the Joad family. The Joads encounters illustrate that the Bourgeoise mishandle their

1. What was the purpose of the New Democracy strategy? Was it successful? Explain.
The purpose of the New Democracy strategy was meant to spur China s political and economic
recovery. In order to do so, it required the support of the poorer peasants and productivity so that it
would modernize China s industry through land redistribution and capital activities. However, the

The land redistribution program for the peasants was positively accepted such that Mao believed that
the next step, the Great Leap Forward, would also be successful. Unfortunately, the program failed
because the rural collectives did not accomplish the economic and administrative tasks assigned to
them. Instead, the program was established in the wrong moment due to bad weather, which
contributed to the downward trend of food production. Furthermore, many peasants resisted the efforts
to work, thus it also contributed to millions of people dying from starvation in the next several years.
3. Was the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution evidence of Communism s strength or its weakness?
Explain.
The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was an evidence of Communism s strength because a vast
majority of the economic and educational reforms were carried out successfully. By introducing a new
school system and eradicating profit incentives, it enabled Mao to spread its communism ideologies
into practice in China. For instance, instead of teaching children science and humanities, Mao
encouraged schools to teach what s more important, the Little Red Book, which were Mao s maxim
regarding revolutionary passion and good behavior. Moreover, thoughts, culture, habits, and culture

Essay about Vocational Teacher Education Reform
Vocational Teacher Education Reform
The reform movements of the 1980s triggered numerous demands to reexamine and reform the way
students and their teachers are educated. This Digest examines the implications for vocational teacher
education emerging from general teacher education reform movements. It discusses how excellence in
vocational education teaching can be achieved and proposes 21st century models for vocational
teacher education.
Impacts of Reform Movements on Vocational Teacher Education
Several of the major reform initiatives of the 1980s and early 1990s argued that improving education
requires improving teacher quality and, accordingly, teacher education. Numerous changes in teacher
recruitment, preparation, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response to mounting evidence of the deterioration of vocational teacher education, (Dykman
1993), the University Council for Vocational Education and the National Association of State
Directors of Vocational Technical Education Consortium formed a joint task force that identified 13
points for initiating a reform process entailing designing and implementing a customer driven learning
system and an accountability system (Lynch 1997). Like earlier publications examining general
teacher education, the responses to the task force report focused on the need for excellence in
vocational teacher education.
Issues in Achieving Excellence
Debate on the question of how to pursue excellence in vocational teacher education programs focused
on vocational education s mission, audience, and delivery.
New Mission? Until the advent of the reform movement, vocational education had been viewed as a
separate system of education intended to meet the nation s labor needs by providing below college
level training for specific occupations (Lynch 1997). In the late 1980s, that view began to change.
Borrowing words used by Dewey in 1916, Tozer and Nelson (1988) urge vocational teacher educators
to teach prospective teachers to provide students with generalizable higher order skills by teaching
through vocations instead of for vocations (p. 22). Sharp (1996), in his discussion of the transition to a
post Fordist economy, asserts that the recent

Blue Collar Brilliance Summary
Joyner Crane 9 /10/2014 EH 101 BD Many people in today s society tend to believe that a good
education is the fastest way to move up the ladder in their chosen. People believe that those who seek
further education at a college or university are more intelligent. Indeed, a college education is a basic
requirement for many white collar, and some blue collar, jobs. In an effort to persuade his audience
that intelligence cannot be measured by the amount of education a person has Mike Rose wrote an
article entitled Blue Collar Brilliance . The article that appeared in the American Scholar, a quarterly

The reader can also understand that the article was written to persuade the reader that intelligence
cannot be defined by the amount of education a person has received. In the article, Rose use many
emotional personal examples to help the reader understand the amount of hard work and intelligence a
blue collar job requires. Rose creates a personal connection with the reader by describing his first hand
experience of growing up watching his mother put her heart and soul into being a waitress in a
restaurant. Rose says, She described the way she memorized who ordered what, how long each dish is
supposed to take to prepare, and how she became a pro at meeting the emotional needs of her
customers and colleagues alike. From the quote in the article the reader understand that Roses mother
was required to have a high level of intelligence in order to meet the needs of her customers and
colleagues alike in order to do her job proficiently. Rose uses emotion in this quote to make the reader
relate to his mother and understand that she was a hard worker and did everything in her power to do
whatever it took in order to hopefully receive a tip that would be used to support her family. Rose also
says, I couldn t have put it in words when I was growing up, but what I observed in my mother s
restaurant defined the world of adults, a place where competence was synonymous with physical work

Prostitution In Victorian
The study of Victorian prostitutes by historians came into its own in the 1970s and 1980s when there
was the feminist revival in reclaiming the female body, femininity and female sexuality,
historiographical trend reflecting social interest. Just as historians were eager to uncover the sexual
underground of Victorian society, the Victorians were as equally fascinated as they were horrified and
ashamed of the profession. In this case, we will be considering a prostitute a profession, that is that the
prostitute exchanged sexual acts for payment, be that monetarily or material goods. By constructing
the figure of the prostitute , this essay will be considering the figure to be the image, portrayal and
public perception of the prostitute. Thus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Homicidal Somnambulism
Imagine that one night you end up sleepwalking and end up killing someone. Sounds crazy doesn t it?
Things like this have actually happened. There are now 68 known cases of homicidal somnambulism.
(BBC) . Homicidal somnambulism is the act of murdering someone while in the state of sleepwalking.
The legal argument for this has been that the defendant was not in their normal state of mind while
this has happened and therefore cannot be blamed for such a crime. Locke is known to believe in his
theory of personal identity and diversity. Locke s theory talks about consciousness and how our
consciousness makes our identity through our experiences. Locke states that we are only considered
guilty of committing a crime if we were aware of it and remember doing it. Although I agree with
Locke in some terms regarding our identity having something to do with our consciousness, I do not
fully agree.
One of the problems that comes to mind with this to me is how could we prove that someone was
actually sleepwalking and that they are unaware of their actions. Can we trust them and take their
word for it or is there a scientific way in which we can prove it.
Locke distinguishes between man and person. Locke s theory talks about consciousness and how our
consciousness makes our identity through our experiences. A person can be conscious, self aware and
rational. Consciousness to Locke is awareness of our body and

Studying Real Time Application On College Student For...
In this paper, we are going to develop real time application on college student for automatic detection
and recognition of student during academics, followed by display of personal information of students.
This application makes proper use of CCTV camera for real time face detection of students of
particular college. The proposed application can be divided into four major steps. In first step, each
person in the image is detected. In the second step, a face detection algorithm detects faces of each
person. In third step, we use a face recognition algorithm to match the faces of persons in the captured
image with the database of students faces which also stores personal as well as academic information
of each student. In final step, the face of student along with his/her personnel information will be
displayed on screen to the user when the image captured by CCTV camera contains any student image
of present college. The college administrator as well as faculty members can use this application to
identify students and also to distinguish students from outsiders.

The Effect Of Media Coverage On The Thinking And Behavior...
Abstract
This paper explores published articles that report on results from research conducted on various
methods of persuasion. The articles, however, vary in their definitions and utilization of the methods
of persuasion and their relationship with consumers. Based on psychological principles that direct
human behavior, Robert Cialdini s (2007), 6 principals of persuasion suggests that face to face
interactions are most effective in emphasizing knowledge and authority. This paper examines Berger
and Berger s (2012) scientific research evidence to substantiate the major role of technology and mass
media in the persuasion of consumers. The use of persuasion to control people for the sole benefit of
the persuader is examined in Ridout and Franz s (2011) research of persuasive ads and who is affected
by ad exposure. This book also presents evidence to support this research. Shen and Dillard s (2013)
research suggests mass media contributes great influence on the thinking and behavior of consumers
and is scientifically proven to be the universal source of information. This paper will examine the
impact of media coverage of elections and how it persuades the electorates behavior, it will explore
the effects of mass media on political power and show how media simultaneously disrupts and
defends the status quo, including the advantages and disadvantages during election campaigns. Shrum

A Summary Of The Scarlett Letter And The Scarlet Letter
As humans, we all develop a sense of knowing the difference between acceptable and unacceptable.
Consequently, that could be a simple task, but society has illustrated the difference between right and
wrong is a blurred line. In society, some may claim that unplanned pregnancy is a dreadful situation.
Others may declare that unplanned pregnancy in the same scenario, is a gift and it s one s decision. In
the novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and the film Easy A, written by Bert Royal and
directed by Will Gluck, in both stories incorporate the reflection of what defines a woman s identity
by how both characters are too sexually free. Hester Prynne, the main character in The Scarlet Letter,
found herself in a challenging situation after having her daughter named Pearl from the crime of
adultery. When Pearl was born, Hester is forced to deal with judgmental townspeople in front of her
daughter, including teaching her daughter how to respond to them. Conversely Olive in the film Easy
A idolizes Hester in The Scarlet Letter. Olive tells lies about her fake actions to draw attention to
herself. So she decides to completely change her clothing style to a more adult lingerie look. She also
a felt cut out of the A just like Hester on her clothing to symbolize adultery.
In the pieces of literature, the women are written to be the scapegoats of their respective communities
due to their choices in engaging in sexual interactions. In the novel The Scarlet Letter, Hester

The Theme Of American Pastoral By Philip Roth
Human beings strived for a better life since the beginning. Mankind witnessed a never ending race for
happiness, wealth, power and superiority. Many revolutions changed the course of history and became
watershed events having great impact on the human life. While some of the ideas lived on, some of the
ideas were short lived. American Dream was one of such ideas which laid the foundation for the

The pastoral was initially originated by the Greek poet Theocritus and the Latin poet Virgil, who wrote
poems about the shepherds ( pastor is Latin for shepherd ). In Shostak s book Philip Roth: American
Pastoral, The Human Stain, The Plot Against America, the traditional pastoral is described as: a
deliberate conventional poem expressing an urban poet s nostalgic image of the peace and simplicity
of the life of the shepherds and other rural folk in idealized natural settings (qtd. in. Shostak 34). In
American Pastoral, Roth presents the story of Levovs, an American family, who in search of the
American dream, gain wealth and success, but suffers from heartache and pain due to the adverse
situations. In a way, it is similar to the story of Job in the Holy Bible, in which Job s life moves from
one phase to another, from poverty to riches, and then back to the former. The novel consciously
alludes to Milton s epic poem Paradise Lost, both thematically and formally, with the Jewish post war

Political Advocacy in Anarchist Punk Music
Anarchist political advocacy has been a driving force in punk music since its emergence in the 1970s.
Although the basic philosophy has remained unchanged, punks have significantly altered the ways
they espouse their beliefs, over time becoming more militant and directly confrontational with those
that hold power. This paper attempts use quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine how
significantly anarcho punk political advocacy has changed between the early 1980s and present day.
Additionally, this paper argues that increased militancy is a byproduct of the progressive

The Relationship Between Personality And Sports And Exercise
Considerable amounts of research have been carried out on the relationship between personality and
sport and exercise. A psychologist known as Eysenck introduced the Personality Theory in which he
believed personality traits to have a biological basis (Eysenck, H.J 1987). In addition, he also believed
personality could be influenced by external factors such as the environment. Eysenck has indicated
that there are, at least, three major dimensions of personality variation in the general human
population, in which people fall somewhere in between. (Eysenck 1979, 1982; Lynn and Martin
1995). He identified these three main traits as Extroversion introversion (E), Neuroticism stability (N)
and finally Psychoticism superego (P). It has been argued that personality type and individual
differences influence ones view and approach to, sport and exercise. (Eysenck 1979, 1982; Lynn and
Martin 1995). There are many advantages and disadvantages of the different levels of these three main
traits in different sporting activities. In Eysenck s personality theory, extroversion is described through
characteristics such as outgoing, sociable, optimistic and active. In comparison to this, introverts tend
to be shy, reserved individuals who are typically careful and unsociable. (Gorczynski, 2014).
According to Eysenck (Eysenck and Eysenck 1985) individual differences in extraversion are based
upon variations in cortical arousal (the speed and amount of the brain s activity), which has been

Conformity And Rebellion Essay
The idea of conforming or rebelling to or against, respectively, a person, group, or thing is
subconsciously occurring at all times whether it is known or not. Is the teenage boy going to conform
to the idea of underage drinking once his friend hands him the warm beer? Or perhaps he will push the
beer away in an act of rebelling against the action. Such a simple demonstration creates the realization
that conformity and rebellion constantly occur. Conformity and rebellion play a very active role in
daily life and decision making that all individuals make. The idea of conformity is a social influence

Rebellion is known as the opposition to one in authority or dominance ( Rebellion ). Often when the
term rebellion is mentioned, one may first imagine a group of unwelcoming individuals raising arms
against a group in higher power such as those during the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War
saw the colonists fighting back against the British who the colonists thought ruled unfairly. The
Revolutionary War is an example of violent and confrontational rebellion but rebellion is not limited
to loud and outlandish actions. Rebellion can also apply to subtle, almost unnoticed actions. Such can
be said about those opposed to wearing animal products such as leather and furs. An individual that is
opposed to animal cruelty may rebel against the action of wearing animal products by avoiding them
altogether. As for personal demonstration, I recall being in middle school when a plethora of kids were
playing with the Nintendo Wii, a newly released gaming console. Almost every friend of mine had the
Wii and played it extensively. However, I was not amused by the system and decided that I didn t want
to take part. I then began to rebel by not partaking in playing the game. This example of mine
demonstrates a non aggressive take on rebellion, as I did not raise arms against my friends in an effort
to show my opposition to the actions they

Pecan Festival Research Paper
I have been to the Pecan Festival at St.Rita for ten years now. I went to my first Pecan Fest when I was
only two years old and I probably just ran around and did not go on any rides. But when I was little,
my favorite part of the Pecan Festival was the games in the courtyard. Of course, one of my most
favorite things at the Pecan Festival, no matter what the year is, are the food and drinks. My favorite
food is pizza. My next favorite would probably be popcorn. And, who doesn t love cotton candy? And
the drink that I love is coke! My favorite Pecan Festival was in 2016 when I rode the most rides I ve

The Struggle Between Gestational Surrogacy And Adoption
Surrogacy is a good alternative for couples struggling with infertility who wish to have a biological
child. Many couples struggle for years trying to have a child. This can be a very emotional process to
deal with especially when each person involved blames themselves for the lack of conception. Some
unconventional couples would not be able to have a child without surrogacy. Surrogacy is also a good
option for single people who want a child without a significant other.
There are many ways for infertile individuals to have a child. One option is adoption. Adoption is very
expensive, time consuming, and only available for certain people. Unconventional couples, single
people, and older people might have a tougher time passing the strict guidelines for adoptive parents.
It also may take many years to find a child to adopt, and if you do find one it might be an older child.
Many couples looking to adopt want a baby. Also, many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gestational surrogacy is where the surrogate is a woman who carries and delivers a baby for someone
else. The surrogate is not related to the baby in any way. The intended parents are usually the egg and
the sperm donor; they are very involved throughout the whole pregnancy. They are very involved with
the pregnancy and they are even there with the baby is born. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a necessary
part of the arrangement because eggs from one woman are used to create and embryo implanted in the
surrogate woman. 2 Another form of surrogacy is traditional surrogacy, In which the surrogate either
undergoes artificial insemination or IVF with sperm from the male or from a sperm donor. The
surrogate herself provides the eggs and is therefore genetically related to the child. 3 After the
surrogate has the baby the intended parents then take the child as their own and often the surrogate is

Meaning Of Symbolic Interactionism
When an interaction of this kind appears,It is safe to say that we have a language and a meaning. A
symbol is something which stays for something else, for example words refers to objects.
(Giddens,p22) However,in order such an interaction to occur, all the participants must understand the
meanings of the symbols used by them altogether. Just as like in a theatre hall, dramaturgical
perspective interprets a social encounter as a stage and the social participants as actors and
audience. The actor takes on a certain role in front of an observing audience. The roles indicates the
actors` social positions, but also marks audience`s expectations towards him/her. The possession of
meaning according to Mead is a privilege accessible only to advanced animals such as the human
beings.Meaning is a prerequisite for action in this case.In other words, meaning and action are
interrelated in an interaction as meaning may be before action, but the latter confirms for the initiated
meaning. The act of adjustive response of the second organism, gives to the gesture of the first ... the
meaning which it has. (Mead p.71) Thus can me implied that meaning and action are the essentials for
a symbolic interaction. I and me constitute the essential mechanism for an individual to act. However
in terms of function, they have a clearly opposite one. Me is that part of a person, which alarms for how
this person should react,in this sense it is his/her

Klondike During The Gold Rush
You have to have something to write about in order to write a story. It doesn t have to be something
you just made up yourself it can be a story you heard somewhere. Well known author Jack London
began writing his stories when he headed off to the Klondike during the gold rush.
Jack London was born in 1876 in San Francisco, California. When his father abandoned the family his
mother remarried and he took his stepfather s last name. London discovered early on that it was a
struggle to make a living and he worked various jobs like a sailor, oyster pirate and fish patroller.
Troubles began in 1893 during the national economic crisis and London joined a march of
unemployed workers. After he was put in jail for vagrancy for a whole month he decided

Amontillado Symbolism
While reading the story The Cask of Amontillado, many literary themes came to mind: truth vs deciet,
manipulation, the downfalls of greed and pride, vulnerabilty, and vengence. Michael Lewis s analysis
of the story however, brought up a major point that I hadn t considered. In his article, Lewis discusses
the possibility that Poe used the amontillado symbollically and delves into potential hidden or duel
meanings. Before analyzing The Cask of Amontillado himslef, Lewis acknowledged fellow writer
Bruce Kirkham s references to Poe s affinity for word play and idea that Poe had chosen amontillado
specifically for its associations with the Italian word for sum or amount . He explains Kirkham s view
that this relates to the idea of Montresor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From this point of view, as Lewis points out, one can easily relate Fortunato s drunken artifical
sweetness to that of imitation amontillado. Montresor s disgust with Fortunato would then mirror
Fortunato s disgust with imposter alcohols. Upon further analysis however, Lewis suggests the
possibility that it is actually Fortunato s lack of a protective layer , or fleur in terms of amontillado,
rather than his spurious nature, that offends Montresor. Using this idea as a basis for thought, Lewis
expands the correlations between amontillado and the characters relationships and actions to include
the alcohol cask and Fortunato s casket, both containing extra space; the failure of either Fortunato or
poor sherry to become properly refined; the fool who cannot distinguish Sherry from Amontillado and
the fool Fortunato himself proved to be in his oblivion to his plight. Additionally Lewis points out that
Fortunato s alcoholism may have caused both this oblivion and the injuries he had placed on
Montressor in the past. In this case, Montresor would have succeeded at exploiting the very weakness
in Fortunato that had caused the damage for which he saught

Summary Of Miseducation Of The Negro
In the book Miseducation of The Negro, Carter G. Woodson argues the concept of the systemic
education and church organization that have been embedded in us throughout history, which affects
African Americans in today s society. Woodson examined the orchestrated events that were created to
make Africans inferior with people who have no background, and no foundation. The
misrepresentation of history in schools has demeaned what Africans have accomplished. In chapter
seven through fourteen, Woodson goes in depth of the value of African Americans learning their
history. The history that is taught in the American educational system is Eurocentric; hence, European
history is taught, but not African history. We do not offer here any course in Negro history, Negro
literature, or race relations, recently said a professor of a Negro college. (132) Woodson noticed the
systemically system and deliberated the new program of education for African Americans . The
application of this concept is for African Americans educate themselves in order to know as much

Augustine On Free Will Analysis
In Augustine s On Free Choice of the Will he explains that the human soul is predisposed to have a
good will and that it is a will by which we desire to live upright and honorable lives and to attain the
highest wisdom (Augustine 19, 1993). Augustine believes that in order to be free we must live
according to our good will. To follow our good will we must live according to the four main virtues in
life: prudence, fortitude, temperance, and justice. He defines prudence as having the knowledge of
what is to be desired and what is to be avoided (Augustine 20, 1993). Augustine establishes fortitude
as the disposition of the soul by which we have no fear of misfortune or of the loss of things that are
not in our power (Augustine 20,1993). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains justice as the virtue by which all people are given their due (August 20,1993). In On Free

described, ... are present in those who love their own good will and value it highly (Augustine 21,
1993). Here Evodius is stating that by living with these four virtues we are able to live a happy life
that is in accordance with our good will. Augustine states that to have a good will is to have something
far more valuable than all earthly kingdoms and pleasures... (Augustine 20, 1993). Here he is saying
that to be happy in life you must have more than just temporary possessions such as money or health,
Augustine defines these possessions as temporal objects. In order to have a good will we must make a
distinction between temporal objects and eternal objects; he explains these differences in the temporal
and eternal laws. The eternal law demands that we purify our love by turning it away from temporal
things and toward what is eternal (Augustine 25,

E.E Evans-Pritchard Once Said, “I Have Often Been Asked
E.E Evans Pritchard once said, I have often been asked whether, when I was among the Azande, I got
to accept their ideas about witchcraft. I suppose you can say I accepted them. I had no choice. In my
own culture, I rejected Azande notions of witchcraft. In their culture, I accepted them. In a kind of
way, I believed them. In the documentary Sir Edward Evans Pritchard: Strange Beliefs, the research of
British social anthropologist E.E. Evans Pritchard on the Zande tribe of central Africa and the Nuer
tribe of Sudan is highlighted. As a good anthropologist should, Evans Pritchard immersed himself in
his fieldwork and attempted to look at foreign cultural values from the perspective of the culture he

He is deeply democratic and is easily roused to violence. His turbulent spirit finds any restraint
irksome and no man recognizes a superior . This cultural attitude towards independence has led the
Nuer to function without a real system of governance. While there are chiefs in Nuer society, the role
of chief tends to be limited to that of a mediator.
The findings of E.E. Evans Pritchard serve as an example of the importance of ethnographic fieldwork
and cultural relativism. People have an inherent tendency to drift towards ethnocentrism if they do not
keep an open mind about the legitimacy of foreign cultural ideas. Enculturalization occurs from the
very beginning of one s life. When one grows up in a culture that praises traits that are deemed as
beneficial and discourages behaviors that are seen as harmful, one tends to develop similar beliefs on
these traits and behaviors. Different cultures encourage different outlooks on society. This is the result
of the environment a culture exists in. In many tribal societies, one of the primary influences on
culture is the physical environment. However, in technologically advanced societies that worry less
about satisfying needs and more about fulfilling desires, social aspects are perhaps more significant.
For example, note the difference between American and Japanese culture. American culture promotes
individualism and free speech. Many Americans tote the Constitution and the Bill of Rights

America, much comes to mind when this word is heard. Usually people think of things like hotdogs,
baseball games, even the red white and blue. While these objects represent American culture greatly, I
feel as if Donald Trump, fireworks, and Wal Mart do a much better job. People may argue with me,
but these three items symbolize the core of America. The Republican presidential nominee Donald
Trump represents the average American citizen. Many speculate just how Trump got this far in the
2016 election, but it doesn t surprise me. He is like any other older white man, a loud, egotistical,
bigot, who is very opinionated. The closed mindedness of Trump represents just how most of
Americans are stuck in their ways, and only looking out for themselves. Hopefully, good ol bigotry
and misogyny can make America great again. Fireworks have been shot off on the fourth of July for

Stress is a part of everyone s life. A certain amount of stress is to be expected in daily life, but too
much stress may be harmful. The stages towards adulthood have been characterized with many

emerging adults entrance into higher education includes both opportunities and risks. It is argued that
emerging adults entrance into higher education includes both opportunities and risks. The topic of
stress effects on the brain seems the most interesting to me because of how much stress a college
student, as well as others, can endure. Stress affects a person both mentally and physically. Your mind
perceives a situation and decides whether that situation is a threat. If it seems threatening, it becomes a
stressor. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, stress is simply defined as the brain s
response to any demand and can take a variety of different forms. Although the concept of stress is
individualized, stress plays a role in everyday life and can stem from mental, emotional, and physical
activity. In an article written by Grant S. Shields and George M. Slavich (2017), the history of stress
and its methods and mechanisms of research were provided. In the mid 1800s, a French physiologist

Similarities Between Neoclassicism And Neoclassical Art
From 1789 1799, the French Revolution marked the end of an era, with the artistic styles of the time
illuminating the state of affairs in France and documenting the story of an oppressed people. The
French Revolution had no single cause, resulting in the overthrow of a leisurely, ineffective monarchy
and its supporting aristocracy, hated for their roles in bankrupting a country, causing their people to
starve, and yet still prioritizing their own lives of luxury over improvement of the economy and the

Developing A Safe And Healthy Environment
Each child deserves to have the opportunity of growing in a safe and healthy environment. Our
province s dream is to become a global leader in achieving academic abilities in all four domains such
as social emotional, physical, language and cognitive development in each child (Early Learning for,
2007, p. 3). In November 2004, the Ontario administration created a great plan called the Early
Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT). By launching this plan, Ontario fulfilled its dream. In
addition, the ELECT document contains comprehensive and rich sources of information that enhances,
rather than modifies, planned curriculum in all Ontario s care centers operating under the Day
Nurseries Act. As long as early childhood professionals working in early childhood settings use the
ELECT, this document will constantly improve the quality care, and at the same time, highlight a
range of growing abilities and common vocabulary that will sustain early childhood professionals as
they work together in early childhood settings (p. 3).
Furthermore, organized into five sections, ELECT is a useful document that envisioned leading
professionals in early childhood settings. The first section represents the Statement of Principles that is
founded on beliefs, standards, practice and present research proof (p. 5). There are six principles
acknowledging that families, communities and cultures embrace clear values about how small children
should familiarize themselves within their surroundings.

the area were still good. The land there was fertile. Many migrants had not seen fertile land in a long
while. All the land they could remember was that of a worn out mess. Along with the fertile land, there
was a mild climate. It was different then what these migrants were used to. Conditions never changed
drastically. All knew what was to come ahead. A lot of hardships were still encountered. Finding work
was still very difficult to do. This was because there was not enough work to occupy all of the people.
Hard conditions were dealt with in order to receive a little bit of money. Finding a job, any job, was
considered to be a blessing. Even then, in times considered to be fair, women did not receive very
much pay. This was because they could not work as much as the males. With males requiring work,
women were not accepted easily and were lucky to even find jobs. Luckily these times have

The Common Characteristics Of Christianity And Christianity
One may argue that all religions are the same at the core, however different religions advances very
different teachings of the most important subject. That subject is how to achieve the goal of where you
will remain in the afterlife. Islam is one of the oldest religions practiced today. Zoroya (2015), Islam is
projected to grow more than twice as fast as any other major religion over the next half century
because of a higher fertility rate, While Christianity will remain a dominant global religion (para. 2).
Although there are many religions we will compare Islam with the common characteristics of other
major religions.
Common Characteristics
Muslims are people who submit to God and their religion is called Islam. Islam has a monotheism
faith believing in one God denouncing any other messiah or deity. Muslims often refer to God as
Allah, which is considered the universal God not be mistaken of a God of only the Islam faith. Islam is
based on one faith that God or Allah is the creator of the universe and his greatness cannot be
compared with his creation. God is the only one to be praised and only one deserving of worship.
Muslims believe God created man for one purpose, to worship him. Muslims refer to the Quran for
direction of how to live, worship, and carry out assignment to fulfill the requirements of life. This may
sound familiar to the Christian faith because according to Luke 4:8 in the Holy Bible, Jesus tells
Satan, saying get thee behind me, Satan: for it is

In the following seminar paper we focus on models and data that arise from repeated measurements
taken from a cross section of subjects (called panel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this we use the US traffic fatalities panel data for the 48 US states (excluding Alaska and Hawaii)
for 1982 through 1988. We observe our data in 7 time periods (1982,...,1988), so T=7, our data are
strongly balanced and the total number of observation equals 336 (=7*48). We calculate the traffic
fatality rate that equals the traffic deaths in the corresponding state in that year, per 10000 state
residents.
Panel Data
A panel dataset contains observations on multiple entities, such as person, firms, state, or country,
where each entity is observed at two or more points in time. A panel data set on individual wages,
hours, education, and other factors is collected by randomly selecting people from a population at a
given point in time. Panel Data methods are more complicated than cross section data methods. For
example the standard error of panel data estimators needs to be adjusted because each additional time
period of data is not independent of previous periods. (very technical for a basic panel data
introduction)
Some basic considerations
(Maybe here we should use words like: furthermore, also, in addition or just an introduction sentence.
)
First, panel data are usually observed at regular time

Teacher Identity And Identity
Merriam Webster s Dictionary defines identity as the distinguishing character or personality of an
individual. Teacher identity implies both a cognitive psychological and sociological perspective:
people develop their identity in interaction with other people, but they express their professional
identity in perceptions of who they are and who they want to become as a result of this interaction.
(Bejaard 2006). I come from a middle class family of six, with two parents with only a high school
diploma. My father Immigrated to America in the early 1940 s from Puerto Rico, while my mom was
born in the Bronx N.Y and is African American and Bajan decent. I was born in the Bronx in the early
seventies, and raised in Suffolk County Long island during the early eighties. I grew up in a small
community called Gordon Heights which is a predominantly African American Neighborhood in
Coram NY. This small community was surrounded smaller towns in Suffolk county New York mainly
composed of Families of Italian, German Jewish descent. Growing up we spent our weekends and
summers in the Bronx and Spanish Harlem, which allow my siblings and I to stay in touch with our
Afro Latino roots. Attending school on long Island in comparison to NY city schools, was a blessing
of sorts because the quality of education was better. This is where I learned to develop relationships
with people of all races, even though we were in the minority.
Keeping in touch with our communities in Bronx Harlem, during my senior year in High School was
able to join a program called The International Youth Leadership Institute, sponsored by Teachers
College and Columbia University. Through this program, in which I was fortunate to be a part of, is
where opportunity to travel outside the United States to Senegal, West Africa. This experience
changed my life forever in which I now see the world through a different lens.
At an early age in life, the elders of the family always taught us about the African history and what it
means to be of the African Diaspora. I had a firsthand experience of visiting slave holding cells and
seeing the door of no return In Goree Island, Senegal. Through this trip I was able to understand the
effects of

Personal Narrative-Changing Experience With Soccer
I ve been playing soccer a long time, longer than i remember. My dad says i ve played since I was
four. Despite that, as a freshman in highschool I still wasn t very good. id simply drifted through ten
years worth of summer and fall leagues, only picking up enough skill to become the captain of my
school s C team.
The team wasn t hopeless, for a c team. most of our players had played soccer before, usually in the
same recreational leagues I grew up in. we were about average better than some, worse than some but
we managed to stay on track for a winning season, more than the JV and Varsity teams could say.
Before the last game of the season our record was seven wins, and seven losses. A win would push us
above .500.
The game was almost over, and looked like it would end in a tie, when the referee called a penalty
kick on the other team. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scoring a penalty kick looks like the easiest thing to do in sports. Just put the small ball through the
big goal, and you score. But when you are standing in front of the goal, just you and the goalie, it gets
a lot harder. The game becomes a sort of psychological warfare between kicker and goalie, each one
trying to get into the other s head. Anyways, that day coach decided it was my turn to take the kick. I
had a chance to be the hero or the goat, as Charlie Brown says. I wanted to be the hero so I ran up to
the ball and kicked it as hard as I could. I would have scored a perfect field goal if i had been playing
the right kind of football. Instead the game wound down and ended in a

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher
One of the most essential exercises when in comes to professional development as an instructor is to
continuously reflect on your perspective, methodology, instruction and behavior within your
profession. Doing so ensure that you a growing and improving on teaching skills and building on old
strengths to benefit you as an instructor but especially the students that you serve. What is a good
teacher? What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become
themselves. 1A teachers objective should not be to shape the students as a reflection of that educators
image, instead they should see themselves as the medium of which the information in communicated,
they should see themselves a person who elevates that students to higher concepts of learning,
aspiration and liberation. A good teacher must recognize the strength and weaknesses in skills of the
individual and class and reflect on how to leverage strength amongst learners to become successful. A
good teacher plans with intention with all these things in mind to communicate the content of lesson to
the psyche of the learner. A good educator is transforms themselves and those they serve to reach their
loftiest goals. Strengths and Weaknesses The biggest strength I have is to be creative with the situation
that I am given. This in not only a skill that suggest that one can synthesize material to give it a sense
of authenticity, but also can adapt and accommodate in the moment. Even the best planners can have a
poor classroom dynamic; the rigidity of these classes is what prevents them from engaging students in
the moment. I genuinely believe in effective planning and mythology but I also believe in breaking
from the script and to accommodate the needs of learners in creative ways. The biggest weakness I
have is how I present direction of material. I believe that I am an effective communicator but there is
always room to grow on communication especially in a classroom that is foreign and does not speak
the language taught. Clear, concise instructions are key in building a classroom that functions and
transitions smoothly from one activity to another, or one piece of information to the next. If a student

The Importance Of Foreign Policy In The Asia-Pacific
Australia s position in the Asia pacific remains strategically important to our domestic and
international interests. Therefore, it is vital to maintain stability in this region for Australia s economic
prosperity and continued preservation of Australia s values of cooperation and freedom in
international territories.
Summary
Foreign policymakers within Australia face the challenge of establishing policy that retains American
engagement with Australia (based on our historic alliances), while acknowledging Americas recent
shift toward domestic priorities. Foreign policy will need to promote ongoing security, political and
economic stability within the APR, continuing to acknowledge the global shift of international trade
toward Asia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
125). President Xi s rise and uncanny resemblance to authoritarianism of the past, alongside Chinas
growing military and GDP is a concern for the region. Though sea lanes are becoming more crowded
and contested with the balance of economic weight shifting, it is not wise to presume that military
engagement is inevitable. Rather it is important to align Australias interest with long term regional
security goals and continued skepticism of Chinese movement south and their defencive/offensive
effort to retain and increase access to energy and other resources. Though it is assured by Chinese
Premier Li Keqiang that China will never seek dominance (Roggeveen 2017), Australia should
proceed with caution and firmness. Our alliance with the US historically has been to continue support
of their presence in the APR though an increase of this could prove damaging based on what Levy
describes as military escalation due to organisational structures and implementation (Levy 1986 pg.
193). Consideration is also needed in regard to America s foreign policy outlook and the Trump
administrations domestic prioritisation. The outlook over the next decade requires Australian foreign
policy makers to consider the further growth of our economic relationship with our Asian neighbours,
the continued advancement of China and India, as well as the United States resolve to remain

  • 2. Examples Of Stereotyping In The Workplace A stereotype is a way to determine where a person or thing falls in the realm of life. Stereotyping is a natural part of life and it actually does have a meaning in reality. It allows a person s mind to work properly and for the human brain to be able to recognize, process, store and then recall the information when needed. It can also be used in racial, political, and religious ways and many more ways. Stereotyping in a racial way is judging people by the color of their skin, where they come from, or the language they speak. It can be both good and bad to stereotype, it just depends on how it is being said. Stereotyping in a religious way is judging people by what they believe in. A general problem a workplace can encounter is stereotyping other people and it can give bad publicity and a bad reputation for the workplace. It is illegal to discriminate against people and the consequences are very crucial. If the workplace requires teamwork it is a very bad thing to stereotype and the company will not be as successful. A company wants good working relationships with its employees, not bad working relationships. When one person is judging another, they no longer have the need to get to know each other and think of themselves as if they are better than the other. Communication is key for two individuals and groups and an essential part for the workplace. • 3. Marxism In The Grapes Of Wrath The Grapes of Wrath tells the bitter story of the Joad family as it struggles to survive and to maintain its dignity in the middle of the Great Depression. But it is also the story of the social class of people like the Joads, tenant farmers who have lost their land and decide to move to California in hope of finding a better life. John Steinbeck wrote The Grapes of Wrath, in 1939, amid the Great Depression, in response to the enduring he saw of individuals with disadvantages. He wrote regarding Oklahomans that were incapable to continue farming since of the disastrous climate conditions. Particularly, he wrote about the Joad family having to emigrate to California. Steinbeck composed the novel from a Marxist point of view. Steinbeck is supporting Marxist thoughts by delineating the distinction of individuals included in capitalism, as the owners take advantage of the helpless. In the Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, Steinbeck uses Marxist beliefs to plot the long battle experienced by the Joad family. The land redistribution program for the peasants was positively accepted such that Mao believed that the next step, the Great Leap Forward, would also be successful. Unfortunately, the program failed because the rural collectives did not accomplish the economic and administrative tasks assigned to them. Furthermore, many peasants resisted the efforts to work, thus it also contributed to millions of people dying from starvation in the next several years. 3. Was the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution evidence of Communism s strength or its weakness? Explain. The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was an evidence of Communism s strength because a vast majority of the economic and educational reforms were carried out successfully. By introducing a new school system and eradicating profit incentives, it enabled Mao to spread its communism ideologies into practice in China. For instance, instead of teaching children science and humanities, Mao encouraged schools to teach what s more important, the Little Red Book, which were Mao s maxim regarding revolutionary passion and good behavior. Essay about Vocational Teacher Education Reform Vocational Teacher Education Reform The reform movements of the 1980s triggered numerous demands to reexamine and reform the way students and their teachers are educated. This Digest examines the implications for vocational teacher education emerging from general teacher education reform movements. It discusses how excellence in vocational education teaching can be achieved and proposes 21st century models for vocational teacher education. In response to mounting evidence of the deterioration of vocational teacher education, (Dykman 1993), the University Council for Vocational Education and the National Association of State Directors of Vocational Technical Education Consortium formed a joint task force that identified 13 points for initiating a reform process entailing designing and implementing a customer driven learning system and an accountability system (Lynch 1997). Like earlier publications examining general teacher education, the responses to the task force report focused on the need for excellence in vocational teacher education. Issues in Achieving Excellence Debate on the question of how to pursue excellence in vocational teacher education programs focused on vocational education s mission, audience, and delivery. New Mission? Until the advent of the reform movement, vocational education had been viewed as a separate system of education intended to meet the nation s labor needs by providing below college level training for specific occupations (Lynch 1997). In the late 1980s, that view began to change. Borrowing words used by Dewey in 1916, Tozer and Nelson (1988) urge vocational teacher educators to teach prospective teachers to provide students with generalizable higher order skills by teaching through vocations instead of for vocations (p. 22). John Locke s Theory Of Personal Identity And Diversity Edin Hodzic Philosophy Final Paper 12/1/15 Homicidal Somnambulism Imagine that one night you end up sleepwalking and end up killing someone. Sounds crazy doesn t it? Things like this have actually happened. There are now 68 known cases of homicidal somnambulism. (BBC) . Homicidal somnambulism is the act of murdering someone while in the state of sleepwalking. The legal argument for this has been that the defendant was not in their normal state of mind while this has happened and therefore cannot be blamed for such a crime. Locke is known to believe in his theory of personal identity and diversity. Locke s theory talks about consciousness and how our consciousness makes our identity through our experiences. Locke states that we are only considered guilty of committing a crime if we were aware of it and remember doing it. Although I agree with Locke in some terms regarding our identity having something to do with our consciousness, I do not fully agree. One of the problems that comes to mind with this to me is how could we prove that someone was actually sleepwalking and that they are unaware of their actions. Can we trust them and take their word for it or is there a scientific way in which we can prove it. Locke distinguishes between man and person. This paper examines Berger and Berger s (2012) scientific research evidence to substantiate the major role of technology and mass media in the persuasion of consumers. The use of persuasion to control people for the sole benefit of the persuader is examined in Ridout and Franz s (2011) research of persuasive ads and who is affected by ad exposure. This book also presents evidence to support this research. Shen and Dillard s (2013) research suggests mass media contributes great influence on the thinking and behavior of consumers and is scientifically proven to be the universal source of information. In American Pastoral, Roth presents the story of Levovs, an American family, who in search of the American dream, gain wealth and success, but suffers from heartache and pain due to the adverse situations. • 19. The Relationship Between Personality And Sports And Exercise Considerable amounts of research have been carried out on the relationship between personality and sport and exercise. A psychologist known as Eysenck introduced the Personality Theory in which he believed personality traits to have a biological basis (Eysenck, H.J 1987). In addition, he also believed personality could be influenced by external factors such as the environment. Eysenck has indicated that there are, at least, three major dimensions of personality variation in the general human population, in which people fall somewhere in between. (Eysenck 1979, 1982; Lynn and Martin 1995). He identified these three main traits as Extroversion introversion (E), Neuroticism stability (N) and finally Psychoticism superego (P). It has been argued that personality type and individual differences influence ones view and approach to, sport and exercise. (Eysenck 1979, 1982; Lynn and Martin 1995). There are many advantages and disadvantages of the different levels of these three main traits in different sporting activities. In Eysenck s personality theory, extroversion is described through characteristics such as outgoing, sociable, optimistic and active. In comparison to this, introverts tend to be shy, reserved individuals who are typically careful and unsociable. (Gorczynski, 2014). According to Eysenck (Eysenck and Eysenck 1985) individual differences in extraversion are based upon variations in cortical arousal (the speed and amount of the brain s activity), which has been ... Is the teenage boy going to conform to the idea of underage drinking once his friend hands him the warm beer? Or perhaps he will push the beer away in an act of rebelling against the action. Such a simple demonstration creates the realization that conformity and rebellion constantly occur. Conformity and rebellion play a very active role in daily life and decision making that all individuals make. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rebellion is known as the opposition to one in authority or dominance ( Rebellion ). Often when the term rebellion is mentioned, one may first imagine a group of unwelcoming individuals raising arms against a group in higher power such as those during the Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War saw the colonists fighting back against the British who the colonists thought ruled unfairly. The Revolutionary War is an example of violent and confrontational rebellion but rebellion is not limited to loud and outlandish actions. Rebellion can also apply to subtle, almost unnoticed actions. Such can be said about those opposed to wearing animal products such as leather and furs. An individual that is opposed to animal cruelty may rebel against the action of wearing animal products by avoiding them altogether. As for personal demonstration, I recall being in middle school when a plethora of kids were playing with the Nintendo Wii, a newly released gaming console. Almost every friend of mine had the Wii and played it extensively. However, I was not amused by the system and decided that I didn t want to take part. I then began to rebel by not partaking in playing the game. A symbol is something which stays for something else, for example words refers to objects. (Giddens,p22) However,in order such an interaction to occur, all the participants must understand the meanings of the symbols used by them altogether. Just as like in a theatre hall, dramaturgical perspective interprets a social encounter as a stage and the social participants as actors and audience. The actor takes on a certain role in front of an observing audience. The roles indicates the actors` social positions, but also marks audience`s expectations towards him/her. Michael Lewis s analysis of the story however, brought up a major point that I hadn t considered. In his article, Lewis discusses the possibility that Poe used the amontillado symbollically and delves into potential hidden or duel meanings. Before analyzing The Cask of Amontillado himslef, Lewis acknowledged fellow writer Bruce Kirkham s references to Poe s affinity for word play and idea that Poe had chosen amontillado specifically for its associations with the Italian word for sum or amount . From this point of view, as Lewis points out, one can easily relate Fortunato s drunken artifical sweetness to that of imitation amontillado. Using this idea as a basis for thought, Lewis expands the correlations between amontillado and the characters relationships and actions to include the alcohol cask and Fortunato s casket, both containing extra space; the failure of either Fortunato or poor sherry to become properly refined; the fool who cannot distinguish Sherry from Amontillado and the fool Fortunato himself proved to be in his oblivion to his plight. Fortunato plays a lot of pranks on Montresor and he reaches his breaking point. He does not think that he should have to let Fortunato play his pranks and Montresor feels like Fortunato is insulting to him, so he plots his revenge. He waits until a night that Fortunato will be drunk and takes him to his wine cellar to bury him alive, in the walls, behind bricks. THE thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge. You, who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that gave utterance to a threat. At length I would be avenged; this was a point definitely... • 41. Developing A Safe And Healthy Environment Each child deserves to have the opportunity of growing in a safe and healthy environment. Our province s dream is to become a global leader in achieving academic abilities in all four domains such as social emotional, physical, language and cognitive development in each child (Early Learning for, 2007, p. 3). In November 2004, the Ontario administration created a great plan called the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT). By launching this plan, Ontario fulfilled its dream. In addition, the ELECT document contains comprehensive and rich sources of information that enhances, rather than modifies, planned curriculum in all Ontario s care centers operating under the Day Nurseries Act. As long as early childhood professionals working in early childhood settings use the ELECT, this document will constantly improve the quality care, and at the same time, highlight a range of growing abilities and common vocabulary that will sustain early childhood professionals as they work together in early childhood settings (p. 3). Furthermore, organized into five sections, ELECT is a useful document that envisioned leading professionals in early childhood settings. The first section represents the Statement of Principles that is founded on beliefs, standards, practice and present research proof (p. 5). There are six principles acknowledging that families, communities and cultures embrace clear values about how small children should familiarize themselves within their surroundings. ... Even the jobs that were available provided terrible pay. One had to think of the idea that low pay was greater than no pay. Many lost their jobs and couldn t provide for their families. It was the perfect opportunity to move to California because conditions in the area were still good. The land there was fertile. Many migrants had not seen fertile land in a long while. All the land they could remember was that of a worn out mess. Along with the fertile land, there was a mild climate. It was different then what these migrants were used to. Conditions never changed drastically. All knew what was to come ahead. A lot of hardships were still encountered. Finding work was still very difficult to do. This was because there was not enough work to occupy all of the people. Hard conditions were dealt with in order to receive a little bit of money. Finding a job, any job, was considered to be a blessing. Even then, in times considered to be fair, women did not receive very much pay. This was because they could not work as much as the males. • 48. Teacher Identity And Identity Merriam Webster s Dictionary defines identity as the distinguishing character or personality of an individual. Teacher identity implies both a cognitive psychological and sociological perspective: people develop their identity in interaction with other people, but they express their professional identity in perceptions of who they are and who they want to become as a result of this interaction. (Bejaard 2006). I come from a middle class family of six, with two parents with only a high school diploma. My father Immigrated to America in the early 1940 s from Puerto Rico, while my mom was born in the Bronx N.Y and is African American and Bajan decent. I was born in the Bronx in the early seventies, and raised in Suffolk County Long island during the early eighties. I grew up in a small community called Gordon Heights which is a predominantly African American Neighborhood in Coram NY. This small community was surrounded smaller towns in Suffolk county New York mainly composed of Families of Italian, German Jewish descent. Growing up we spent our weekends and summers in the Bronx and Spanish Harlem, which allow my siblings and I to stay in touch with our Afro Latino roots. Attending school on long Island in comparison to NY city schools, was a blessing of sorts because the quality of education was better. This is where I learned to develop relationships with people of all races, even though we were in the minority. Keeping in touch with our communities in Bronx Harlem, during my senior year in High School was able to join a program called The International Youth Leadership Institute, sponsored by Teachers College and Columbia University. Through this program, in which I was fortunate to be a part of, is where opportunity to travel outside the United States to Senegal, West Africa. This experience changed my life forever in which I now see the world through a different lens. At an early age in life, the elders of the family always taught us about the African history and what it means to be of the African Diaspora. I had a firsthand experience of visiting slave holding cells and seeing the door of no return In Goree Island, Senegal. Through this trip I was able to understand the effects of ... Despite that, as a freshman in highschool I still wasn t very good. id simply drifted through ten years worth of summer and fall leagues, only picking up enough skill to become the captain of my school s C team. The team wasn t hopeless, for a c team. most of our players had played soccer before, usually in the same recreational leagues I grew up in. we were about average better than some, worse than some but we managed to stay on track for a winning season, more than the JV and Varsity teams could say. Before the last game of the season our record was seven wins, and seven losses. A win would push us above .500. Scoring a penalty kick looks like the easiest thing to do in sports. Just put the small ball through the big goal, and you score. But when you are standing in front of the goal, just you and the goalie, it gets a lot harder. The game becomes a sort of psychological warfare between kicker and goalie, each one trying to get into the other s head. Anyways, that day coach decided it was my turn to take the kick. I had a chance to be the hero or the goat, as Charlie Brown says. I wanted to be the hero so I ran up to the ball and kicked it as hard as I could. • 50. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher One of the most essential exercises when in comes to professional development as an instructor is to continuously reflect on your perspective, methodology, instruction and behavior within your profession. Doing so ensure that you a growing and improving on teaching skills and building on old strengths to benefit you as an instructor but especially the students that you serve. What is a good teacher? What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves. 1A teachers objective should not be to shape the students as a reflection of that educators image, instead they should see themselves as the medium of which the information in communicated, they should see themselves a person who elevates that students to higher concepts of learning, aspiration and liberation. A good teacher must recognize the strength and weaknesses in skills of the individual and class and reflect on how to leverage strength amongst learners to become successful. A good teacher plans with intention with all these things in mind to communicate the content of lesson to the psyche of the learner. A good educator is transforms themselves and those they serve to reach their loftiest goals. Strengths and Weaknesses The biggest strength I have is to be creative with the situation that I am given. This in not only a skill that suggest that one can synthesize material to give it a sense of authenticity, but also can adapt and accommodate in the moment. Even the best planners can have a poor classroom dynamic; the rigidity of these classes is what prevents them from engaging students in the moment. I genuinely believe in effective planning and mythology but I also believe in breaking from the script and to accommodate the needs of learners in creative ways. The biggest weakness I have is how I present direction of material. I believe that I am an effective communicator but there is always room to grow on communication especially in a classroom that is foreign and does not speak the language taught. Clear, concise instructions are key in building a classroom that functions and transitions smoothly from one activity to another, or one piece of information to the next. If a student does ... Summary Foreign policymakers within Australia face the challenge of establishing policy that retains American engagement with Australia (based on our historic alliances), while acknowledging Americas recent shift toward domestic priorities. Though sea lanes are becoming more crowded and contested with the balance of economic weight shifting, it is not wise to presume that military engagement is inevitable. Rather it is important to align Australias interest with long term regional security goals and continued skepticism of Chinese movement south and their defencive/offensive effort to retain and increase access to energy and other resources. Though it is assured by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang that China will never seek dominance (Roggeveen 2017), Australia should proceed with caution and firmness. Our alliance with the US historically has been to continue support of their presence in the APR though an increase of this could prove damaging based on what Levy describes as military escalation due to organisational structures and implementation (Levy 1986 pg. 193). Consideration is also needed in regard to America s foreign policy outlook and the Trump administrations domestic prioritisation.
