Human Perception of Other Species
KEY QUESTION: HOW HAS HUMAN PERCEPTION OF OTHER SPECIES AND THEIR NEEDS
LED TO CHANGES IN ECOSYSTEM IMBALANCE? INTRODUCTION: The ability to survive
and reproduce by living organisms is constantly being tested by its external environment. Organisms
those are unable to cope up with these changing external factors, face extinction. Over the years,
species have evolved with the changing environmental conditions and have incurred adaptations to
suit their existence in their environment. Hence, the process of evolution, adaptation and extinction of
species has been natural over time. This does not affect the ecosystem much because nature on its own
has an ability to compensate for its losses and changes that are natural. This is where we, Humans
come in. Humans by instinct have a tendency to modify, to exploit their environment to suit their
needs. That is, more than adapting to the environment, their rate of converting the environment to suit
requirements is incomparably higher. This reverse phenomenon is what causes the depletion of other
species which are unable to adapt to the unnatural, fast changes. Nature is ineffectual in recompensing
for these artificial changes which further increases the rate of extinction of species resulting in
ecosystem imbalance. The scientists have predicted that we are presently undergoing the sixth mass
extinction on the history of earth, mainly due to human activities and their effects. Human perception

The Short Term Mission Trips
Think about the poverty and problems that all countries around the world are facing today and every
day. As Americans we have an urge to go into these countries to help as much as possible because of
that we have begun a revolution. Americans began going on mission trips around the 1960s but did not
really pick up until the 1990s. The trend grew after multiple natural disasters, Americans saw and need
and went, since then short term mission trips show no sign stopping anytime soon. As the popularity
of leaving our comfort zones, many people have found issues with the way the trips are led to the
extent of questioning whether or not these trips are really worth the amount of money and time that
they consume. Through periodicals, interviews, narratives, and articles, I will show the issues and
improvements that could be made to the living situations, attitude of the Americans, and relationships
that are acquired during the short term mission trips.
In October of 1998, Hurricane Mitch slammed onto the coasts of multiple South American countries.
Countless people lost their homes, over eleven thousand people lost their lives, and the hurricane left
five billion dollars worth of damage in its wake ( Hurricane Mitch ). This event caused a new wave of
events also of short term mission trips. Americans seeing the cities torn to shreds decided to act. For a
couple of weeks at a time, different groups would go clean up, rebuild, and show love to the people of
these devastated

Carlsbad Caverns National Park
Carlsbad Caverns National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is located in the state of New
Mexico, in the United States. It contains a show cave, the main feature. The cavern is a limestone
type, which was created by a reaction involving rainwater and hydrogen sulphide rich brine (salt
concentrated water). This created a corrosive sulphuric acid which carved the main chambers into
what they are today. The site has been elected and given UNESCO World Heritage status for two
reasons, or criteria. One of the reasons for the listing is its natural beauty, abundance and diversity of
structures in the caves. The stalactites in the caverns vary in size and height, with one, called the
Witch s Finger , reaching up to 6 metres in height. A cave called Bat Cave contains a colony ... Show

This allows geologists to study what s happening and how geological processes work and progress
through time. The Capitan reef, an ancient partly exposed evaporated reef, is located around the park
and the caverns. The reef can be studied and looked at from underground, in the caves. This allows
geologists and scientists to look at the reef s history and discover fossilised marine life. Lechuguilla
Cave, the fifth longest cave in the world, exists in the park. It was discovered in 1984, when miners
heard wind roaring from the cave. The cave contains antibiotic resistance bacteria, which developed
resistance over millions of years. However the bacteria cannot spread to humans, but is resistant to
every type of antibiotic tested. The US National Park Service maintains and takes care of the park, by
employing rangers to provide guided tours, patrol the park, maintain the fauna and flora, and also
educate visitors and tourists. The rangers also help and assist scientists and geologists so they can do
their research. Rangers also present programs for schools and youth

Mrs. Eaves Case Study
Mrs. Eaves is a transitional serif typeface designed by Zuzana Licko in 1996 for the type foundry
Emigre she ran with her husband. Mrs. Eaves was designed as a display variation on the Baskerville
font designed in 1757 by John Baskerville, and named after his housekeeper Sarah Eaves whom he
later married; she would later go on to print the rest of his unfinished journals after he died. Zuzana
Licko is one of the first typographers to use the Macintosh computer in its early pre design days, as a
tool for typographic design, experimentally using bitmaps to design her typefaces. Mrs. Eaves is a
font, designed as a revival of Baskerville, and made with display in mind. Coming from a time where

The Storming Phase Of Group Development
The purpose of this proposal is to research why members, who find themselves in a group that has
elements of an intimate and task group, continue their membership after the group enters into the
storming phase of group development. That is to say, why members stay involved after expressing
frustration and disagreement over decisions that are made. This research proposal is designed to
identify the key factors of why members, who represent their group culture, find it easy to complain
about the balance of power in their organization. The following proposal will outline a comprehensive
strategy to study and analyze the data.
Group Process The main group process that will be studied is the Storming Process, from Tuckman s
Stages of Group Development. Particularly, the effects the storming stage has on members that already
feel dissatisfied with the group and how they reconcile those feelings to stay apart of the group and
enter into the norming stage. The storming stage is where members start to rebel against some of the
expectations that the group has. The conflict could be between working styles, rules or authority, but it
regardless, storming has the ability to make the group fail (Tuckman, 1965 via Forsyth, 2014).
According to Marilyn Brewer s Optimal Distinctiveness Theory, members yearn for a balance between
wanting to be assimilated, connecting to friends within the group, and feeling autonomous and
differentiated (Forsyth, 2014). If members constantly are trying

Black Beauty Analysis
Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse is about a horse named, Black Beauty, who hates
breaking in and is being attached to unbearable, heavy equipment. Slowly as the story continues, his
miserable pain turns into pride when he carries his master on his back. The excerpt from The Georges
and the Jewels is about Abby, a horse rider, who has been knocked off by an unskilled horse. Later on
in the story, lying on the floor, she is reminded of her favorite horse, a sweet boy mare and how she
enjoyed riding her every time. In the excerpts, Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse by Anna
Sewell and Georges and the Jewels by Jane Smiley, the authors use first person point of view to
demonstrate the character s development throughout the story. The first person point of view is very
vivid on how the characters feel, which lets the reader thoroughly understand the character s
transitions easily.
The story Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse, gives the reader an elaborate description of
Black Beauty s feelings through the first person point of view. For example, in the text it states A great
piece of cold hard steel as thick as a man s finger to be pushed into one s mouth, between one s
teeth...so that no way in the world can you get rid of the nasty hard thing, it is very bad! Yes, very bad!
This tells the reader that Black Beauty didn t appreciate the cold hard steel that had been put through
her mouth. He regretted the fact of breaking in and wanted to go back to his old life. The first quote
matters because, it shows how Black Beauty had felt in the beginning, frustrated and regretful. And,
the author clearly demonstrates how Black Beauty feels through first person, since he states Very bad!
Yes, very bad! This statement really brings out the fact that he hated breaking in. And, if it were to be
3rd person, Black beauty s feelings wouldn t clearly be demonstrated, and rather the feelings of author
would have been demonstrated. Black Beauty changed, in the text states It certainly did feel queer, but
must say I felt rather proud to carry my master, and as he continued to ride me a little every day I soon
became accustomed to it. This shows how Black Beauty had changed from the beginning

Pros And Cons Of Bad Seos
Bad SEOs? Exactly what about Bad SEO Clients? You hear all the time about bad SEOs. Bad SEOs

spiritual equivalents: bad SEO customers? You see, regardless of trying difficult to make it clear I m a

from bad prospective SEO customers. The bad SEOs would have too little a market to remain in

I mean by bad SEOs. Bad SEOs are bad due to the fact that they either do unethical things to get e

Loss Of Innocence In Jane Eyre
In the 1800s, the idea of a lowly governess marrying a rich estate owner was absord, if not impossible.
However, this is precisely what the protagonist in Charlotte Brontë s novel, Jane Eyre did through her
fiery persistence and passion. Jane grew up in her aunt s house, Gateshead, where she was unwanted
by even the servants. However, when Jane is ten years old she is sent a way to a boarding school for
girls called Lowood, which is led by an extremely hypocritical Mr. Brocklehurst. After spending 6
years as a student and 2 years as a teacher at Lowood she finds a job as a governess for a French girl at
an estate named Thornfield. Jane slowly but surely begins to fall in love with the house s owner, Mr.
Rochester, and the two plan to get married ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John, Diana, and Mary. While Jane finds true friendship in Diana and Mary, St. John is cold, and has
an extremely negative effect on Jane s livelihood. While Jane and St. John are in the middle of an
argument Jane tries to convince St. John to tell him something he has been hiding from her: But I
apprised you that I was a hard man, said he, And I am a hard woman impossible to put off. And then,
he pursued, I am cold: no fervor infects me. Whereas I am hot, and fire dissolves ice. The blaze there
has thawed all the snow from your cloak (416). While St. John and Jane can be quite similar in their
stubbornness and their passion for what they believe in, St. John is cold, and acts completely on logic
and what he believes is right, while Jane has impulsive tendencies and thinks one should balance
emotion with spiritual morals. This divide between them proves to cause even more problems in the
future, when St. John attempts to convince Jane to accompany him to India. One day, when he is
teaching her Hindustani Jane realizes, He acquired a certain influence over me that took away my
liberty of mind...I could no longer talk or laugh freely...vivacity (at least in me) was distasteful...I fell
under a freezing spell. When he said go, I went: come, I came, do this, I did it. But I did not love my
servitude (432). The effect St. John has on Jane is strong enough to completely take away her fiery
personality and replace it with his own icy and emotionless one. While Jane was at Thornfield with
Mr. Rochester she happily called him her master and was eager to serve him. However, while at Moor
House with St. John she dreads the servitude with him because instead of enhance her passion, he
extinguishes it. If it wasn t for her the close companionship she found in Diana and Mary, St. John s
coldness might have put out Jane s fire

Active user participation throughout the life of the project and iterative nature of development

Disadvantages
The first thing is DSDM is costly to implement, as it requires users and developers both to be trained

year 2010, (O Shaughnessy, 2012) only about 5.1%, or 3 million people, out of the 57.8 million people
age sixty and over, received services funded by the Act. These services included home delivered
meals, home care, personal care, or case management services on a regular or intensive basis. About
14%, 8 million people, received other services, such as transportation, congregate meals, or

other supportive services to help remain independent in their own communities, but a large portion of
them are not getting the help they are in need of. Some barriers causing this lack of help are lack of

Maintaining Order In E. M. Forster s The Machine Stops
The future of any society is governed by the people within it, and although the Machine in E.M.
Forster s The Machine Stops has the illusion of maintaining order in a dystopic society, it is really the
people s fear and misbeliefs that control them. The lack of connection and communication in the
society is what has led to the people to become overdependant on the Machine, to forget that behind
this supposed omnipotent power, it was humanity that created and supported it. In Forster s society,
one which was broiling with the onset of global war, this was a key development, as political
ideologies such as fascism and nationalism were rising in power. This story serves as a forewarning to
the citizens who live in such societies and the threat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although modern society is dealing with issues such as race and gender, it has become much more
accepting of a culture than Forster s society of the early 1900s. Now the international community has
become much more supportive of each others initiatives and has become an interconnected world. The
imagined world of The Machine Stops has become unlikely to ever exist because humanity now has
recognized the strengths of working as groups rather than individuals, a modern trend that has only
recently emerged. Had people lacked a much needed response to the horrors of the world during the
World Wars, modern society may very well have slid further into the mistrust and closed off world
(clearly seen in the story as society had moved underground and everybody lived in hexagonal rooms)
and become the dystopic society of the Machine. The short story was a very enjoyable piece, although
as science fiction it lacks some necessary descriptions of devices, resorting to only simplistic tools that

The Circle Dave Eggers
This is not a Fairy Tale: An Analysis of The Circle by Dave Eggers
The fairy tales passed down from generation to generation have planted the idea of an happily ever
after in the head of every developing child. Since then human beings have been hardwired to strive for
their own personal happy ending. We are so fixated on this idea that we expect every story to end well,
and when it doesn t we feel cheated. Maybe happy endings should be reserved solely for the children s
fairy tales. While some readers may argue that stories with a positive ending provide a more clear
resolution, I would argue that the clear resolution that comes with happy endings is not always what
readers need to feel whole. The completeness you feel in response to a story often comes from an

Climate Change And Its Effect On Earth Essay
What is climate change? Climate change, additionally called an unnatural weather change, alludes to
the ascent in normal surface temperatures on Earth. The present warming pattern is of specific
essentialness on the grounds that the majority of it is likely human incited and continuing at a rate that
is exceptional in the previous 1,300 years. Earth circling satellites and other innovative advances have
empowered researchers to see the comprehensive view, gathering a wide range of sorts of data about
our planet and its atmosphere on a worldwide scale. This group of information, gathered over
numerous years, uncovers the signs of an evolving atmosphere. The warmth catching nature of carbon
dioxide and different gasses was exhibited in the mid nineteenth century. Their capacity to influence
the exchange of infrared vitality through the environment is the logical premise of many instruments
flown by NASA. There is no doubt that expanded levels of greenhouse gasses must bring about the
Earth to warm accordingly. Ice centers drawn from Greenland, Antarctica, and tropical mountain ice
sheets demonstrate that the World s atmosphere reacts to changes in greenhouse gas levels. They
likewise demonstrate that before, extensive changes in atmosphere have happened rapidly,
geographically: in several years, not in millions or even thousands. Environmental change can prompt

A euphemism is the substitution of an agreeable or less offensive expression in place of one that may
offend or suggest something unpleasant to the listener;[1] or in the case of doublespeak, to make it
less troublesome for the speaker.[citation needed] It also may be a substitution of a description of
something or someone rather than the name, to avoid revealing secret, holy, or sacred names to the
uninitiated, or to obscure the identity of the subject of a conversation from potential eavesdroppers.

The common names of illicit drugs, and the plants used to obtain them, often undergo a process
similar to taboo deformation, because new terms are devised in order to discuss them secretly in the
presence of others. This process often occurs in English (e.g. speed or crank for meth). It occurs even
more in Spanish, e.g. the deformation of names for cannabis: mota (lit., something which moves on
the black market), replacing grifa (lit., something coarse to the touch ), replacing marihuana (a female
personal name, María Juana), replacing cañamo (the original Spanish name for the plant, derived from
the Latin genus name Cannabis). All four of these names are still used in various parts of the
Hispanophone world, although cañamo ironically has the least underworld connotation, and is often
used to describe industrial hemp, or legitimate medically prescribed cannabis.
[edit] The Euphemism Treadmill
Euphemisms often evolve over time into taboo words themselves, through a process described by
W.V.O. Quine, and more recently dubbed the euphemism treadmill by Steven Pinker. (cf. Gresham s
Law in economics). This is the well known linguistic process known as pejoration.
Words originally intended as euphemisms may lose their euphemistic value, acquiring the negative

Why Athletes Are Good Role Models
Why Athletes Are Good Role Models Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and the
hard work that they do to achieve their goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were more like
them. What happens though when the realization sinks in that they are human too and that some of
them do get greedy and selfish? A lot of athletes are model citizens that you should really look up to,
but there are also some bad apples in the bunch that ruin it for everyone. Athletes can inspire young
people to work hard so that their efforts can pay off, but no one is pure and flawless. Greed does take a
hold of some players, but they shouldn t be the ones we devote all of our attention to. We should look

Nobody is forcing athletes to be good people, we just want some of them to use better judgement. One
person that honestly thinks that ball players do serve a role as models for the kids and should live up
to it is Vincent Lamont Baker of the Milwaukee Bucks. He is the best all round player on the team and
one of the most versatile in the league. He is said to be the symbol of what the NBA is really trying to
sell: good players who are even better people. An excellent role model for black youth is Dave Bing.
He was elected into the NBA Hall of Fame in 1989 and is now the CEO of Bing Steel, a firm that had
$61 million in sales in 1991and was ranked tenth in the United States among black owned industrial
and service companies. He now donates a lot of his time and money to various charities. Football

He also said that he doesn t think of himself as a role model, but he is doing the right thing because he
knows that there are people looking up to him and he wants to show them something positive. I couldn

The Matrix And Charlie Angels
Everyone has their own movie preference. There are people who adore the hardcore action and there
are some who prefer the slow paced drama. Many individuals may not like a movie because of the
genre it is in. A genre is a categorization of certain types of movies based upon their style, form, or
content. The genre is a vital component of a film since it characterizes which course the plot line will
go and allows to prepare yourself for that film. Movie genre is the term used to differentiate between
various number of films. There are around five fundamental groups that are big and prevalent i.e.
Action, Horror, Comedy, Science fiction. In this essay ,I will be comparing two films, The Matrix and
Charlie Angels. I will discuss the use of cinematography, the genres of the films, and how effective
they are. I will also look at the characters, action, plot ,sound and atmosphere created, and how these
are aimed at each film s target audience.
Charlie s Angels is an action comedy film, which borrows ideas from other well known movies such
as Mission Impossible , James Bond etc. It is not very original or challenging, has a weak and
predictable plot, and is merely an update on the 1970 s television series of the same name. The film is
based on a trio of beautiful women who are hired to retrieve a man and his technology. They achieve
this by working together, using their intelligence, a series of cunning plans, combined with an
impressive display of girl power.

The Wife s Lament
The two poems known as The Wife s Lament and The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare have
numerous similar qualities even though they both come from different people. The Wife s Lament is
an Old English poem that is exceptionally heavy with emotional content; it is a monologue from the
perspective of a sorrowful woman who appears to be undergoing significant sorrows due to separation

these pieces of literature share, namely the theme of sorrows

the rodents bribed the cat with fish. It s like they had a plan all along, and they knew that she would be
lured into the plan if there was fish involved. Another similarity in the two legends, is that they both
travelled across a wide river. In the legend, Cat and Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac, they had
to travel across a river in the race they had. And in How cats and mice became enemies, they were
traveling across a river to get to a village. And the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first difference is kind obvious. But it s just that both the rodents are different kinds, ones a mouse
and the other is a rat. Also in one story, the cat and rat rode on a buffalo. In the other story though, the
cat and mouse rode in a hollowed out pumpkin. Another difference between the two legends is the
number of characters. In the enemy story there s only 2 characters; the cat and the mouse. But in the
other story, there was probably just a little over 12 characters. So that was a big difference. The third
difference is that one of the rodents did something to the cat on purpose, while the other rodent did it
on accident. The rat purposely did what he did to the cat. But the mouse was just misunderstood and
didn t mean to do what he did to the cat. This paragraph has the just a few of the many differences

Comparing Two Magazines Essay
Comparing Two Magazines
For my compare and contrast essay, I have decided to compare two magazines in the financial and
business world of entrepreneurs. The name of the first magazine is Small business opportunities and
the second magazine is Entrepreneurs Be your own boss
The theme of the first magazine is to highlight, how and what type of businesses to start and make
money without putting in much of the hard work. The very first page of the magazine shows an
absolute image of the man and women dressed up with lots of money and a road of success. The
magazine rapidity claims Sure ways to make money . It seems like editor is personally involved in
guaranteeing the success of the business with highlighting text displaying ... Show more content on

The cover page is much simpler yet attractive without any graphics simply saying Low cost businesses
you can start today .
The very first page is well displayed; it contains popular franchise information. The magazine takes a
step by step approach to guide an individual with general topics like How to start up and build a
business . It seems like editor has no bias towards the information presented. The emphasis of this
magazine is on the presenting more information about a product rather then just giving the monitory
figures.
The color and layout of the magazine is very simple and professional. Editor shows concern of
misleading ads and puts emphasis on starting small. Towards the middle of the magazine in which he
presents a simple but very well laid out table of the popular franchises, with topics like demographics,
startup cost and brief introduction of the provider. In the last part of the magazine editor has put
together a list of other sources and publication to inform and pursue readers to research more rather
have them jump to conclusion by just looking at inflated figures.
In conclusion, I have found that both of these magazines are very different and appeals to different
class of people. The first magazine is not for the startup businessman but for somebody who can sense
a foe or real business offer. The second magazine is a starting point for new entrepreneurs who want to
start small but need a peek into

The Federal Government Controls Unrestricted Means
Today, the federal government controls unrestricted means to execute whatsoever the elected official
desire, without reverence for the Constitution the aforementioned vanished gradually. Common people
are not knowledgeable that the United States in 1776 did not have an income tax, and in 1913; a
perpetual income tax was inflicted upon the people. In actual fact, the Constitution disallowed an
income tax. For longer than a century, the leadership endured completely without proceeds from
wages. Formerly, the U.S. government performed by means of tariffs from imported products and
excise taxes required at the fabricating point of domestic commodities.
Consequently, U.S. government was only able to procure a limited amount of funds because they
depended on tariffs and excise taxes. State and local governments also had a limitation on taxation.
For the reason that taxes affect the costs of goods, therefore they are they were constrained. To be
exact, the government could not aquire unlimited funds from the people. When a product is priced to
high, the consumer is unable to buy the product. Therefore, sales tax decreases, and tax revenues
plummet. Indirect tax is imposed on services or commodities, in lieu of companies and individual
people. Direct tax is the taxation on properties such as real or personal were the expenses cannot be
escaped.
In 1895, the U.S. Supreme Court reach a decision that the Federal income tax which is a fixed price,

Women in Engineering
Engineering is a field dominated by men in today s society, for many reasons. When people think
about engineering they think about men with glasses and never does a women come to mind.
However, there have been many studies on the skills that keep women out of engineering as a career
yet there is no proof that women cannot or do not possess the skills needed to be a successful engineer.
Therefore, it is thought and stereotyped that women do not have the skills to have an engineering
career. Due to the studies and stereotypes the questions then arise as to what makes a good engineer.
Many have the same response to the question but not one skill can a women not posses. Women are

Therefore, women are just as capable as being a engineer as men are if they posses these qualities.
Women have the qualities that are needed to become good engineers. The only way that women are
different from men in the field is in the training. Women have all the capability to become good
engineers as men if they can receive the proper/same training, employment and promotion as men. In
receiving training women make up a extremely small amount of the student population in science
related majors. Only 53% of the total students in Scotland universities are women. However bellow
19% are studying engineering, computer studies, and physicals sciences. Likewise, University
students in Germany were only 48% women. Of the 48% of women only 20% of the engineering

are what we now call: Hedwig. All of these names and incarnations of this being imply a twisted and
interesting story. It is a story written, directed, and performed by John Cameron Mitchell. Hedwig and
the Inch is a rock musical that came into being through a very odd process. John Cameron Mitchel and
a friend of his, Stephen Trask, came together and created a band that in and of itself would be a
performance art piece. The duo wrote dialogue, music, and spoken word poetry under the guise of this

Witchcraft
Witchcraft Satan Woship, or Just another Religion?
In today s society, new religions are popping up all over the place. One of the oldest, yet fastest
growing faiths today is witchcraft. This earth based, nature oriented belief has been established since
the thirteenth century, but it is not until recently that it has began to spread across the world.
Everywhere we look we see something associated with the practice of wicca. The movie, Blair Witch
Project, is one example of the growing belief in spells, charms, and covens. However, there are many
people who disapprove of this practice and are labeling it as a false religion. ; Christians, for example,

Basically, it was people who were lonely or were considered to be outcasts. There were also Indian
slaves and anti Christians who were accused of witch craft because of their different point of views.
However, sometimes, everyday people were accused because of their superstitions like knocking on
wood. ; The church saw them as those who didn t put their complete faith in God, and so therefore,
were considered to be witches.
There are many different types of witchcraft, or wicca. Sometimes, it is simply just charms and spells
that people chant. These spells can be considered either good or bad, depending on the purpose of the
hex. The magic used in witchcraft can also vary. It basically comes down to either black magic, which
is meant to do harm, or white magic, which is only meant to heal and help.
In the Bible it is clearly stated that witchcraft is wrong. There are many different chapters and verses
in the Bible that reveal this. Obviously, God does not want his people to be hand in hand with sin, but
the question still remains: Is witch craft tied to Satanism and evil? Many say yes, but many say no as
well. By viewing the facts about witchcraft, one can decide for themselves.
The exact time when witchcraft originated is unknown, but experts say it all began to become noticed
as an evil practice around the 13th century. During this time, the church slightly tolerated the practice
of magic, but as the 14th century moved

Case Study: Royal Bank of Canada in Thailand
1. What were RBC s ultimate goals in opening a representative office in Thailand?
When RBC opened a representative office in Thailand in the early 1980 s, its ultimate goal was to
obtain a full branch license. RBC felt that Thailand had the potential to become a regional financial
center, and they certainly wanted to have an established presence in a country with this sort of
opportunity. RBC also had the corporate goal of increasing the amount of its business generated from
non Canadian sources. With RBC locations in Asia already accounting for 16% of their total
international earning assets, opening a new branch in Asia seemed likely to help achieve the bank s

Thailand s most important exports are tourism and manufactured products. Manufactured products
such as: clothing, electronic parts and components, furniture, and jewelry account for 81% of the
nation s export volume. With seven million people going to Thailand each year, tourism accounts for
13% of the country s total export revenue.
7. What is the current (1997) situation in Thailand?
After a decade of sustained growth, the current situation in Thailand is one of unprecedented
economic turmoil. The countries exports have halted, foreign investors have become hesitant with
their money due to the account deficit, the stock market plummeted, and big loans made by banks
have caused a large accumulation of debt. Typical causes of an economic crisis, such as: high debt,
large current account deficit, deregulation of the banking industry without proper controls in place,
and a semi fixed exchange rate are all at the forefront of the nation s current economic state.
8. What are the highlights of the IMF s bailout of Thailand?
The IMF s bailout of Thailand was an agreement that would give the Thai government $16.7 billion in
loans in exchange for the country adopting a tough program of economic and financial reforms. These
reforms required the closing of 16 finance firms; these 16 firms would either have to merge with other
banks, or submit their own rehabilitation plan. This agreement with the IMF

The Aspects Of My Future Life Goals In My Life
How you ever sat down and just put any thought into what are some things you wish you could
change? Or what changes you can do in the future to get to where you want to be? I m sure you have,
and I m sure you have had regrets. I know I have, and here are some things I wish I could change and
some of my future life goals both career and educational.
One thing I wish I could change was the day I broke my mom s heart. I was still in high school, when
I decided I should move out and live with my brother. My mom and I have never really had a great
relationship with each other. With me always lying to her about where I was, who I was with, and
what I was going to do. It was always constant arguing and disagreeing on everything. One day, we
just really got into it and she told me my roof, my rules so that is when I told myself, Yup, I need to
just pack my bags and leave tonight, that will fix everything. and without thinking that s what I did. I
waited until my mom and dad went to sleep and just left without them hearing. I had left a note and
told my mom I was leaving the house because I was tired of her, her rules, and our relationship. That
next morning my mom called me and sounded really upset and hurt. Making me start feeling bad and
having regrets. After having time to think, I realized I am just a brat, and take everything for granted. I
realized my mom is the way she is with me, because she just really cares about me. I realized I needed

Lucretius Influence On Religion
The first author I chose that shows Roman influence on the modern world is Lucretius. What is
strikingly modern about Lucretius analysis of death is that he incorporates science within religion.
This conceptualization of religion within a scientific context is relative to modern thought. His works
were read heavily within the 20th century which is the period where being non religious was
becoming increasingly popular. His philosophy does not contain the same fundamental features the
majority of contemporary religions have like an afterlife. Lucretius writes, That shows that we have
nothing to fear from death; Nothing can happen to the man who is not there; It is just the same as if he
had never been born . This idea of nothingness after death is popular with those who have faith in
science. The belief in science can be argued as a religion itself as it has the same ... Show more

This Roman influence transcends into the modern world where nationalism is vital in the creation of
new states. For example, during the decolonization period, countries used propaganda similar to that
of The Aeneid to strengthen their independence movement. Furthermore, actors within these nations
fought for the greater good of the building of their nation... like that of the building of Rome. Vergil
writes, ...to rule mankind, and make the world obey, disposing peace and war by thy own majestic
war; to tame the proud... (Vergil). This excerpt essentializes the common ideologies behind
nationalistic movements. There is a desire to work together as individuals to develop their nation or
the greater good. In addition, the concept of heroes is not seen within modern world as it is during
Ancient Rome. Therefore, the Roman influence, of their social ideals that the concept of the
individuals role is to better the greater good, is present in contemporary

What Are The Influence Of The Roman Bath And The Roman Baths
Both the Roman Baths and the British Museum exemplified the dominating influence of the Roman
and Greek empires in Britain s early history. However, even though both possess features of the
Roman era, only the British Museum had Grecian elements in its galleries as well. The presence of
both institutions highlight the imperial nature Britain adapted in arts, architecture, and foreign affairs
due to the exposure to these two cultures. The Roman Baths was a public bath house where people
went for bathing and socializing. It s well engineered system and beautiful structure made out to be a
wonderful place for people to meet on a day to day business to catch up with current events and
matters of the like. Unlike the Roman Baths, the British Museum is not a social hangout, but a public
space where everyone can learn something from almost every continent through their treasures. There
are sculptures, dishes, clocks, and many other exquisite pieces exhibited in the museum to represent
the various cultures they come from. It s evident from various historical British locations that both the
Romans and Greeks had a strong presence in Britain s early history. Around 70 AD, the Roman Baths
were constructed by the Romans when they believed that the spring water was a gift from the Gods (
Roman Baths ). At this point in history, the Romans had already invaded Britain several years
beforehand. Them building holy structures on British land is one of many occasions where they
showcased a mentality that whatever they touched was theirs. An attitude that Britain would later
adopt during the Age of Exploration. Similarly, the Parthenon statues in the British Museum
commonly depicted images of power, strength, and beauty. The statues not only symbolized power by
placing warriors on horses, but also by defining the muscles and bone structures of the subjects. It
seemed as if there were two modes for the statues: Herculean stances or sensual poses that provoked
godly features. Such idealistic images have had lasting impacts on art and architecture around the
globe. Examples of British images that represent the same ideals/have traces of Roman/Grecian
architecture include various amphitheaters around the nation, Bignor Roman

Social Pedagogy Essay
Social pedagogy
As an idea social pedagogy first started being used around the middle of the nineteenth century in
Germany as a way of describing alternatives to the dominant models of schooling. However, by the
second half of the twentieth century social pedagogy became increasingly associated with social work
and notions of social education in a number of European countries.
Social pedagogy is based on humanistic values stressing human dignity, mutual respect, trust,
unconditional appreciation, and equality, to mention but a few. It is underpinned by a fundamental
concept of children, young people and adults as equal human beings with rich and extraordinary
potential and considers them competent, resourceful and active agents. ... Show more content on

You also have to bear in mind that the young people might refuse to allow you to protect them since
they have been hurt in personal relations so many times. The professional pedagogue takes this
understanding from and builds on various theories and this enables reflection to take place. A
professional reflection on your own and others practice enables you to evaluate on the progress you
have seen with a young person.
If we are to build trust and attachments then surely we need to be able to draw on past experiences.
For example our school life to allow the young person to see that many people have had the same
problems and that they do not stand alone.

A brief history of Social Pedagogy
Although pedagogy varies across European countries, there are similar roots that have developed into
differing strands of contemporary thinking in pedagogy. Hämäläinen explains that historically, social
pedagogy is based on the belief that you can decisively influence social circumstances through
education and importantly, education is seen as a life long learning process that does not only refer to
children but includes educating adults, for instance in order to change their idea of children.
While philosophers of Classical antiquity like Plato and Aristotle discussed how education could
contribute to social development, social pedagogy in theory and practice only emerged through the
influence of

large issue both genders are facing in society and the media. From false accusations and overpowering

The Core Essence Of Servant Leadership From A Biblical...
As a Doctoral candidate and a Singles Adult Ministry leader, I believe it is vitally important to

Therefore, this research paper will attempt to articulate the core essence of Servant Leadership from a
Biblical perspective, which might be able to provide practical, theological, and hermeneutical insights
in order to develop leadership competency and a healthy prosperous ministry, as oppose to the current
secular leadership myths and fascination in our church, culture and society. Admittedly, over the years

Similarly, author Wade Berry, in an article with reference to Paul s practice of leadership, describes it
as:
Leadership is understood here not as dealing with how a particular leader understands and develops
the organizational structure of her or his group, but as how a leader interacts with the members of the
group in order to get individuals within the group as a whole to adopt certain values, goals, practices,
or behaviors. This is a beautiful reflection of leadership, which provides us with a basic foundational
framework. On that basis, when I reflect on the term Servant Leader , from a hermeneutical
perspective, it would appear to be a paradox, from my own conceptual understanding of the language.
For instance, when we think of a servant, we often envision someone serving others. Likewise, we
perceive a leader as the one who is influential, powerful and has authority. Paradoxically, the two
words together seem to contradict each other, but also serve as a prophetic concept to emphasize the
core essence of Jesus and Paul s leadership model. In reality, the term servant leader is a model that
reflects trust, communication, integrity, sacrifice, humiliation, selflessness and the ethical use of
power. The servant leadership model by its own nature has traits as well as, learned skills, which

off juggling five red balls. He then switches to a plate, a broom and a table. Landing it ball by ball,

  • 2. Human Perception of Other Species KEY QUESTION: HOW HAS HUMAN PERCEPTION OF OTHER SPECIES AND THEIR NEEDS LED TO CHANGES IN ECOSYSTEM IMBALANCE? INTRODUCTION: The ability to survive and reproduce by living organisms is constantly being tested by its external environment. Organisms those are unable to cope up with these changing external factors, face extinction. Over the years, species have evolved with the changing environmental conditions and have incurred adaptations to suit their existence in their environment. Hence, the process of evolution, adaptation and extinction of species has been natural over time. This does not affect the ecosystem much because nature on its own has an ability to compensate for its losses and changes that are natural. This is where we, Humans come in. Humans by instinct have a tendency to modify, to exploit their environment to suit their needs. That is, more than adapting to the environment, their rate of converting the environment to suit requirements is incomparably higher. This reverse phenomenon is what causes the depletion of other species which are unable to adapt to the unnatural, fast changes. Nature is ineffectual in recompensing for these artificial changes which further increases the rate of extinction of species resulting in ecosystem imbalance. The scientists have predicted that we are presently undergoing the sixth mass extinction on the history of earth, mainly due to human activities and their effects. Human perception of their ... • 3. The Short Term Mission Trips Think about the poverty and problems that all countries around the world are facing today and every day. As Americans we have an urge to go into these countries to help as much as possible because of that we have begun a revolution. Americans began going on mission trips around the 1960s but did not really pick up until the 1990s. The trend grew after multiple natural disasters, Americans saw and need and went, since then short term mission trips show no sign stopping anytime soon. As the popularity of leaving our comfort zones, many people have found issues with the way the trips are led to the extent of questioning whether or not these trips are really worth the amount of money and time that they consume. Through periodicals, interviews, narratives, and articles, I will show the issues and improvements that could be made to the living situations, attitude of the Americans, and relationships that are acquired during the short term mission trips. In October of 1998, Hurricane Mitch slammed onto the coasts of multiple South American countries. Countless people lost their homes, over eleven thousand people lost their lives, and the hurricane left five billion dollars worth of damage in its wake ( Hurricane Mitch ). This event caused a new wave of events also of short term mission trips. Americans seeing the cities torn to shreds decided to act. For a couple of weeks at a time, different groups would go clean up, rebuild, and show love to the people of these devastated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Carlsbad Caverns National Park Carlsbad Caverns National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is located in the state of New Mexico, in the United States. It contains a show cave, the main feature. The cavern is a limestone type, which was created by a reaction involving rainwater and hydrogen sulphide rich brine (salt concentrated water). This created a corrosive sulphuric acid which carved the main chambers into what they are today. The site has been elected and given UNESCO World Heritage status for two reasons, or criteria. One of the reasons for the listing is its natural beauty, abundance and diversity of structures in the caves. The stalactites in the caverns vary in size and height, with one, called the Witch s Finger , reaching up to 6 metres in height. A cave called Bat Cave contains a colony ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This allows geologists to study what s happening and how geological processes work and progress through time. The Capitan reef, an ancient partly exposed evaporated reef, is located around the park and the caverns. The reef can be studied and looked at from underground, in the caves. This allows geologists and scientists to look at the reef s history and discover fossilised marine life. Lechuguilla Cave, the fifth longest cave in the world, exists in the park. It was discovered in 1984, when miners heard wind roaring from the cave. The cave contains antibiotic resistance bacteria, which developed resistance over millions of years. However the bacteria cannot spread to humans, but is resistant to every type of antibiotic tested. The US National Park Service maintains and takes care of the park, by employing rangers to provide guided tours, patrol the park, maintain the fauna and flora, and also educate visitors and tourists. The rangers also help and assist scientists and geologists so they can do their research. Rangers also present programs for schools and youth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Mrs. Eaves Case Study Mrs. Eaves is a transitional serif typeface designed by Zuzana Licko in 1996 for the type foundry Emigre she ran with her husband. Mrs. Eaves was designed as a display variation on the Baskerville font designed in 1757 by John Baskerville, and named after his housekeeper Sarah Eaves whom he later married; she would later go on to print the rest of his unfinished journals after he died. Zuzana Licko is one of the first typographers to use the Macintosh computer in its early pre design days, as a tool for typographic design, experimentally using bitmaps to design her typefaces. Mrs. Eaves is a font, designed as a revival of Baskerville, and made with display in mind. Coming from a time where many fonts were being rethought or revived for web ... • 6. The Storming Phase Of Group Development The purpose of this proposal is to research why members, who find themselves in a group that has elements of an intimate and task group, continue their membership after the group enters into the storming phase of group development. That is to say, why members stay involved after expressing frustration and disagreement over decisions that are made. This research proposal is designed to identify the key factors of why members, who represent their group culture, find it easy to complain about the balance of power in their organization. The following proposal will outline a comprehensive strategy to study and analyze the data. Group Process The main group process that will be studied is the Storming Process, from Tuckman s Stages of Group Development. Particularly, the effects the storming stage has on members that already feel dissatisfied with the group and how they reconcile those feelings to stay apart of the group and enter into the norming stage. The storming stage is where members start to rebel against some of the expectations that the group has. The conflict could be between working styles, rules or authority, but it regardless, storming has the ability to make the group fail (Tuckman, 1965 via Forsyth, 2014). According to Marilyn Brewer s Optimal Distinctiveness Theory, members yearn for a balance between wanting to be assimilated, connecting to friends within the group, and feeling autonomous and differentiated (Forsyth, 2014). If members constantly are trying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Black Beauty Analysis Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse is about a horse named, Black Beauty, who hates breaking in and is being attached to unbearable, heavy equipment. Slowly as the story continues, his miserable pain turns into pride when he carries his master on his back. The excerpt from The Georges and the Jewels is about Abby, a horse rider, who has been knocked off by an unskilled horse. Later on in the story, lying on the floor, she is reminded of her favorite horse, a sweet boy mare and how she enjoyed riding her every time. In the excerpts, Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse by Anna Sewell and Georges and the Jewels by Jane Smiley, the authors use first person point of view to demonstrate the character s development throughout the story. The first person point of view is very vivid on how the characters feel, which lets the reader thoroughly understand the character s transitions easily. The story Black Beauty: An Autobiography of a Horse, gives the reader an elaborate description of Black Beauty s feelings through the first person point of view. For example, in the text it states A great piece of cold hard steel as thick as a man s finger to be pushed into one s mouth, between one s teeth...so that no way in the world can you get rid of the nasty hard thing, it is very bad! Yes, very bad! This tells the reader that Black Beauty didn t appreciate the cold hard steel that had been put through her mouth. He regretted the fact of breaking in and wanted to go back to his old life. The first quote matters because, it shows how Black Beauty had felt in the beginning, frustrated and regretful. And, the author clearly demonstrates how Black Beauty feels through first person, since he states Very bad! Yes, very bad! This statement really brings out the fact that he hated breaking in. And, if it were to be 3rd person, Black beauty s feelings wouldn t clearly be demonstrated, and rather the feelings of author would have been demonstrated. Black Beauty changed, in the text states It certainly did feel queer, but must say I felt rather proud to carry my master, and as he continued to ride me a little every day I soon became accustomed to it. This shows how Black Beauty had changed from the beginning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While St. John and Jane can be quite similar in their stubbornness and their passion for what they believe in, St. John is cold, and acts completely on logic and what he believes is right, while Jane has impulsive tendencies and thinks one should balance emotion with spiritual morals. This divide between them proves to cause even more problems in the future, when St. John attempts to convince Jane to accompany him to India. These spells can be considered either good or bad, depending on the purpose of the hex. The magic used in witchcraft can also vary. It basically comes down to either black magic, which is meant to do harm, or white magic, which is only meant to heal and help. In the Bible it is clearly stated that witchcraft is wrong. There are many different chapters and verses in the Bible that reveal this. Obviously, God does not want his people to be hand in hand with sin, but the question still remains: Is witch craft tied to Satanism and evil? Many say yes, but many say no as well. By viewing the facts about witchcraft, one can decide for themselves. Or what changes you can do in the future to get to where you want to be? I m sure you have, and I m sure you have had regrets. I know I have, and here are some things I wish I could change and some of my future life goals both career and educational. One thing I wish I could change was the day I broke my mom s heart. I was still in high school, when I decided I should move out and live with my brother. My mom and I have never really had a great relationship with each other. With me always lying to her about where I was, who I was with, and what I was going to do. It was always constant arguing and disagreeing on everything. One day, we just really got into it and she told me my roof, my rules so that is when I told myself, Yup, I need to just pack my bags and leave tonight, that will fix everything. and without thinking that s what I did. I waited until my mom and dad went to sleep and just left without them hearing. I had left a note and told my mom I was leaving the house because I was tired of her, her rules, and our relationship. • 30. Lucretius Influence On Religion The first author I chose that shows Roman influence on the modern world is Lucretius. What is strikingly modern about Lucretius analysis of death is that he incorporates science within religion. This conceptualization of religion within a scientific context is relative to modern thought. His works were read heavily within the 20th century which is the period where being non religious was becoming increasingly popular. His philosophy does not contain the same fundamental features the majority of contemporary religions have like an afterlife. Lucretius writes, That shows that we have nothing to fear from death; Nothing can happen to the man who is not there; It is just the same as if he had never been born . This idea of nothingness after death is popular with those who have faith in science. The belief in science can be argued as a religion itself as it has the same ... Vergil writes, ...to rule mankind, and make the world obey, disposing peace and war by thy own majestic war; to tame the proud... (Vergil). This excerpt essentializes the common ideologies behind nationalistic movements. There is a desire to work together as individuals to develop their nation or the greater good. • 31. What Are The Influence Of The Roman Bath And The Roman Baths Both the Roman Baths and the British Museum exemplified the dominating influence of the Roman and Greek empires in Britain s early history. However, even though both possess features of the Roman era, only the British Museum had Grecian elements in its galleries as well. The presence of both institutions highlight the imperial nature Britain adapted in arts, architecture, and foreign affairs due to the exposure to these two cultures. The Roman Baths was a public bath house where people went for bathing and socializing. It s well engineered system and beautiful structure made out to be a wonderful place for people to meet on a day to day business to catch up with current events and matters of the like. Unlike the Roman Baths, the British Museum is not a social hangout, but a public space where everyone can learn something from almost every continent through their treasures. There are sculptures, dishes, clocks, and many other exquisite pieces exhibited in the museum to represent the various cultures they come from. It s evident from various historical British locations that both the Romans and Greeks had a strong presence in Britain s early history. Around 70 AD, the Roman Baths were constructed by the Romans when they believed that the spring water was a gift from the Gods ( Roman Baths ). At this point in history, the Romans had already invaded Britain several years beforehand. Them building holy structures on British land is one of many occasions where they showcased a mentality that whatever they touched was theirs. An attitude that Britain would later adopt during the Age of Exploration. Similarly, the Parthenon statues in the British Museum commonly depicted images of power, strength, and beauty. The statues not only symbolized power by placing warriors on horses, but also by defining the muscles and bone structures of the subjects. It seemed as if there were two modes for the statues: Herculean stances or sensual poses that provoked godly features. Such idealistic images have had lasting impacts on art and architecture around the globe. Examples of British images that represent the same ideals/have traces of Roman/Grecian architecture include various amphitheaters around the nation, Bignor Roman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, by the second half of the twentieth century social pedagogy became increasingly associated with social work and notions of social education in a number of European countries. Social pedagogy is based on humanistic values stressing human dignity, mutual respect, trust, unconditional appreciation, and equality, to mention but a few. It is underpinned by a fundamental concept of children, young people and adults as equal human beings with rich and extraordinary potential and considers them competent, resourceful and active agents. ... If we are to build trust and attachments then surely we need to be able to draw on past experiences. For example our school life to allow the young person to see that many people have had the same problems and that they do not stand alone. Jean Jacques Rousseau Johann Heinrich Pet A brief history of Social Pedagogy Although pedagogy varies across European countries, there are similar roots that have developed into differing strands of contemporary thinking in pedagogy. Hämäläinen explains that historically, social pedagogy is based on the belief that you can decisively influence social circumstances through education and importantly, education is seen as a life long learning process that does not only refer to children but includes educating adults, for instance in order to change their idea of children. While philosophers of Classical antiquity like Plato and Aristotle discussed how education could contribute to social development, social pedagogy in theory and practice only emerged through the influence of ... Similarly, author Wade Berry, in an article with reference to Paul s practice of leadership, describes it as: Leadership is understood here not as dealing with how a particular leader understands and develops the organizational structure of her or his group, but as how a leader interacts with the members of the group in order to get individuals within the group as a whole to adopt certain values, goals, practices, or behaviors. This is a beautiful reflection of leadership, which provides us with a basic foundational framework. On that basis, when I reflect on the term Servant Leader , from a hermeneutical perspective, it would appear to be a paradox, from my own conceptual understanding of the language. For instance, when we think of a servant, we often envision someone serving others. Likewise, we perceive a leader as the one who is influential, powerful and has authority. Paradoxically, the two words together seem to contradict each other, but also serve as a prophetic concept to emphasize the core essence of Jesus and Paul s leadership model. In reality, the term servant leader is a model that reflects trust, communication, integrity, sacrifice, humiliation, selflessness and the ethical use of power. The servant leadership model by its own nature has traits as well as, learned skills, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
