Crafting a persuasive essay on the topic of "Persuasive Essay Tips" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a compelling argument but also in mastering
the art of persuasion. To start, one must have a deep understanding of the subject matter, as well
as the ability to analyze and synthesize information effectively.
The process involves extensive research to gather relevant data and evidence to support the
chosen stance. Selecting a compelling thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the
persuasive essay is crucial, as it serves as the backbone of the entire piece. Organizing thoughts
coherently, structuring arguments logically, and ensuring a smooth flow from one idea to the
next require careful planning and meticulous attention to detail.
Furthermore, balancing the emotional and logical aspects of persuasion is a delicate task. Striking
the right tone, employing rhetorical devices effectively, and anticipating and countering potential
counterarguments demand a high level of writing skill. It's essential to engage the reader from
the introduction, maintain their interest throughout the body, and leave a lasting impression with
a powerful conclusion.
Editing and revising play a significant role in enhancing the overall quality of the essay.
Checking for clarity, coherence, grammar, and punctuation errors ensures that the final piece is
polished and professional. The challenge lies in the iterative nature of the writing process, as
revisions may be needed to refine and strengthen the persuasive elements of the essay.

The History of African Americans in Film Essay
Minstrel shows were developed in the 1840 s and reached its peak after the Civil
War. They managed to remain popular into the early 1900s. The Minstrel shows
were shows in which white performers would paint their faces black and act the role
of an African American. This was called black facing. The minstrel showevolved from
two types of entertainment popular in America before 1830: the impersonation of
blacks given by white actors between acts of plays or during circuses, and the
performances of black musicians who sang, with banjo accompaniment, in city
streets. The father of American minstrelsy was Thomas Dartmouth Daddy Rice, who
between 1828 and 1831 developed a song and dance routine in which he

singing of songs with harmonized choruses, the exchange of jokes between the
endmen and the performer in the center seat (Mr. Interlocutor), and the introduction
of special variety acts at the conclusion of the bill. Though many of these shows
claimed that these were true African Americansongs that had been brought back by
people who had observed plantation slaves, this wasn?t necessarily true. For
example one of the more common songs such as ?Jim Crow?by Thomas Rice was
simply inspired by a crippled African American that Rice had seen dancing and
singing a song with the chorus of ?Wheel about, an turn about, an do jis so, Eb ry
time I wheel about, I jump Jim Crow.? Many people were lead to believe that this
was how every African American sang and danced and failed to realize that this
was simply the way one man did it. Actual African American actors were rare at the
time. There were only a few African Americans that actually appeared on stage and
those who did only had minor roles such as servants or shoe shiners. This was
mainly because the world was used to African Americans being slaves doing jobs
such as these and people weren?t ready to accept African Americans as equals yet.
There had however been several attempts of African American stage performance
such as New York?s African Grove theater. This theater was founded
Women In Medieval Time Period
The medieval britain time period was the start of the noticeability for women.
Women were beginning to rise in control in this time period. They were gaining
more respect and honor than previous time periods, whereas women were only
known to keep the house and children. However, women were also known for their
seductiveness in this time period. They also were more loved for their virtues
rather than their prettiness. Women in the medieval time period were being put in
more higher places and were being on more power. In the medieval time period
women were increasingly becoming more noticed as well as being put in high
places. Before the twelfth century there was no place for women to reign as
queens. Only after the death of a king did a queen hold the royal chair for but a
brief time until either a husband was suitable for the royal crown or a son who
was not old enough yet reached the appropriate age to rule in government with his
mother. However, there were three daughters of kings Alfonso VI of Castile,
Baldwin II of Jerusalem, and Henry I of England forced the problem of female
succession after failure of male heirs to be acknowledged. Urraca utilized full
authority instantly after Alfonso VI s death. She was unquestionably the ruler of the
royal chair in her own right for a time. Melisende never ruled the royal chair
completely on her own, however, her husband Count Fulk of Anjou was not formally
affiliated with her at first during the time of Baldwin II was still

The Role of Music During and After Puerto Rican Migration to the United States
For Puerto Ricans, music served infinite purposes. It allowed for the formation and
reformation of cultural views and opinions, through the lyrics in the songs. These
views were constantly changing, which in turn fed into the ever evolving identity of
the Puerto Rican people. As a vehicle of expression it stimulated thought and provided
a method of communication for the community. In The Puerto Rican community of
New York City the increasing popularityof music indicated a desire for Puerto Rican
based and oriented entertainment but more importantly for national unity. For the
musicians themselves music served as an outlet for creativity ... Show more content

Puerto Rican society was not devoid of color consciousness or prejudice, but racial
categories were different that in the United States (53). Once on the mainland the
musicians encountered an entirely different system for the categorization of people.
A more simplistic system that relied on the hue of the skin as opposed to facial
features, hair texture, ...wealth or occupation (53). Namely those who had white skin
were placed into one category and those that did not into another. The racist
tendencies of the Americans led to the negation of all that was black by the Puerto
Rican community. Puerto Ricans were much more prone to settle in pockets with
their lighter compatriotas than to except external definitions of themselves and move
into the black American sections of Harlem (73). The focus on race does not imply
that money did not play an important role in American society either, however, it did
not play a major role in the book.
Glasser employs racially descriptive terms, throughout the book, that are confusing
and unintelligible. These terms are found frequently, although they are not previously
explained. Often the term itself describes two different groups. One such term is
white which at one point means North American and yet on other occasions it means
a Light skinned Puerto Rican. Within the span of two pages Glasser speaks of latin
relief bands that were made up of whites only (76). The clear implication here is that

False Picture of Marriage in The Dead by James Joyce and...
Illusion versus Reality: Marriage in Modern Literature
Modern literature is known for questioning society and its various conventions. One
question that these works often ask is, What is real? Some modern authors explore
this question by placing their characters within self constructed illusions that are later
shattered by the introduction of reality. Marriages are frequently at the center of this
theme, with one spouse crafting an illusory impression of the other. Modern literature
demonstrates that a marriage built upon illusion will falter when exposed to reality.
In order to understand the effects of illusion on marriages in modern literature, we
will explore two pieces: The Dead by James Joyce and Odour of Chrysanthemums by

In reality, he doesn t know her at all a fact Joyce alludes to when Gabriel fails to

s blanket of illusion is snatched away: While he had been full of...joy and desire, she
had been comparing him in her mind with another (2197). Facing the reality of his
wife s love for another man, Gabriel now begins to question their entire relationship.
As Gabriel reflects on Gretta s sorrow for this lost young man, he comes to accept
that he has never experienced that depth of feeling and love for another person not

at her through admiring and happy eyes; he now sees only her age and bitterly

the hollowness in his life, and Gabriel s picture of Gretta is forever changed.

Biography Of Felix Mendelssohn s The Mendelssohn
Quartet
The piece my ensemble piece will be performing is the Mendelssohn Quartet
Op.44, movement 1. The composer, Felix Mendelssohn was born on February 3,
1809, in Hamburg. Germany. As a son of Moses Mendelssohn, who was a
successful banker, Mendelssohn was born into a very wealthy family, which gave
him certain advantages such as providing him a rich and ideal cultural setting for
his artistic mind to flourish. His received good education as well. While
Mendelssohn s father disliked Jews that converted from Judaism to Christianity to
gain social acceptance outside of the jewish ghettos, Felix still ended up following
Christianity, and even baptized his whole family in the name of Jesus. When
Mendelssohn was a child, his family moved to Berlin where he would meet Ludwig
Berger. Felix took pianolessons from Berger and also studied from Karl Zelter on
compositions. In the early 19th century, Mendelssohn quickly established himself as
prodigy and displayed an interest in arts and music thru his ability to perform on the
piano and violin, as well as painting. At the young age of nine, he made is public
debut and during his childhood he had written five operas and eleven full orchestral
symphonies. In the late 1810 s, Felix Mendelssohntook part in the Singakedemie
Music Academy, where he wrote numerous pieces such as multiple violin sonatas, a
cantata, two piano sonatas, and a short opera. In 1821, Karl Zelter took Mendelssohn
to the port, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Immediately,
Short Note On Emma Lazarus
Emma Lazarus, a nineteenth century Jewish American poet, was born on July 22,
1849 in New York City. Her parents, Moses and Esther Nathan Lazarus, had seven
children. She was the fourth of the seven to born, with five sisters and one brother.
Emma was born into one of the oldest and most prestigious Hebrew families in New
York. The Nathan Lazarus family was descended from the early Jewish settlers in
America. By the time Emma was born, they had been established in Manhattan for
four generations. The Lazarus family, descended from Sephardic Jews, were wealthy,
earning their fortune in the sugar refining business. Being born into a wealthy
family provided Emma with the resources to acquire a strong, rich, and classical
education. In 1866, at the age of seventeen, her poems and translations were first
published by her father, who was a very influential man at that time (Young, 1995).
Two years later, she sent her writing to Ralph Waldo Emerson, a respected American
poet and literary essayist and lecturer of the 19th century. He was impressed by her
work, and soon became her mentor, and friend (Young, 1995). During her lifetime, he
became a great resource of guidance and motivation.
Emma Lazarus was a well known author during her lifetime. In 1874, she was
recognized as an author of note (Young, 1995). She published more than 50 poems in
popular magazines, such as Lippincott s, The Century, and The Critic. In 1871, she
published a book of poetry called Admetus and Other
Adam And Nimrod Are Not Just Characters From Dante s
Work
Adam and Nimrod are not just characters from Dante s work. They both have
origins in Christianity. Genesis 3 is about Adam s sin, the first sin; disobeying the
Lord caused the fall of man. Genesis 11 is about Nimrod s sin. Nimrod was the first
ruler in the land of Shinar (Gen 10.10). Men, migrating east, settled in Shinar and
planned to construct a tower so tall, that it would reach the sky because this would
make a name for [themselves] (Gen. 11.4). When the Lord noticed this tower, he
scattered them . . . all over the earth, as well as [confusing] the speech of all the
world (Gen. 11.8 9). I agree with V. Stanley Benfell; Nimrod s sin, resulting in the fall
of the language, is similar to the first sin that caused the fall of man.
Sins in the Hebrew Bible
To start with, the first man, Adam, is responsible for the original sin. Genesis 3
introduces the last creature the Lord made, the serpent (Everts 253). Though not
clarified in Genesis 3, Revelations 12:9 considers the serpent to be the devil. The
serpent tempts the first woman, Eve, to disobey the Lord. The serpent chooses Eve
instead of Adam, because she is easier to manipulate (Everts 254). The Lord had
allowed Adam and Eve to eat from any tree, except from the Tree of Knowledge of
Good and Evil (Genesis 2.16 17). Eve gave the fruit from the forbidden tree to Adam
(Genesis 3.6). When the Lord discovered that the two humans had eaten the fruit he
forbade them from eating, he made the serpent eat only dust, made
The Demand And Supply Analysis
Introduction: The most important tool in microeconomics is the demand and
supply analysis. Demand refers to the amount of the product which is desired by
the purchaser at a certain price level where as the supply of the product represents
the amount of quantity that is supplied in the market at a certain level of price.
There are different factors on which demand is dependent. Apart from the price of
the product, the demand depends upon the income, the number of consumers,
preferences of the consumers and income of the consumers. The supply of the
product depends upon the price of the product, future expectation of the prices and
price of the factors of production (Colander 2013). Resources availability is
limited in the country so there is a need to observe the demand and supply so that
the resources are not exhausted. The demand and supply mechanism is analyzed
before getting into a detailed discussion upon the demand and supply of human
resources and iron ore resources in the Australian economy. Several newspaper
articles has been collected showing the demand for the skills in the state of
Queensland and the supply iron ore has dropped in respect of the increase in global
supply more than the demand. Mechanism of Demand and Supply: When the other
factors, which are seen to affect the demand for the product is constant then a rise in
the price of the product, will lead to fall and when there is fall in the prices then
there will be an increase in the demand. There is

Watson s approach to solving the DNA (deoxyribose nucleic acid) was to employ

As to the priorities, in my opinion, I would say the rebranding of the hotels should be

To sketch a drawing an idea must first be thought of. Then once the idea has been

function where the mouse can act like a sketch pencil (Bethune, 13). Although this
seems like it might be like the pencil it is not. Mice are harder to keep straight and
even the lightweight drawing tasks may make the hand tired (Bethune, 13). Other
ways of getting a sketch on the computer are scanners, electronic pens or touch
pads. With the electronic pen, just point at the screen and that is where the dot,
line or shape shows up. However one moves the pen is what shows up. This can be
hard because a screen is at a weird angle, which makes drawing awkward. The touch
pad however can be bought to the size of the screen. These
The Creation Of The United Nations
The creation of the United Nations (UN), the largest organization in the world
introduced a new reform for collective security around the world after the failure of
the League of Nations. Such a reform is vital for the international community as it
zealously promotes concord and security, which is the most important goal in the 21st
century. Thus, has the UN been successful in promoting international peace and
security? To an extent, they have been when it comes to certain economical,
humanitarian and environmental conflicts that occur within particular situations.
However, one must take into account that the UN has failed in promoting such an
itinerary when it came to the nuclear proliferation, the failure to uphold amity in Sri
Lanka, Rwanda and Srebrenica Massacre.
The failure of the League of Nations caused the establishment of the United Nations
after the Second World War in 1945. After the establishment of the UN in 1945, the
world became divided ideologically into two camps, whose leaders the USSR and
the US treated each other in total suspicion and appeared to oppose each other on
every major issue. (Diel Latif) It was impossible to create international peace and
security when the world has been divided into two camps who distrusted and oppose
each other.

Story Of An Hour Epiphany
In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, we meet Mrs. Louise Mallard as a newly
grieving widow. A woman who has prominent health issues of her own suffering
from the physical and mental turmoil of losing a loved one. As her sister, Josephine,
and husband s friend, Richard, broke the news of her husband s death we find
Mallard in a position of conflict with herself. The feeling of despair and abandonment
engulfs the main characteras she is haunted by this gut feeling of what her life will
become without the man who loved her. The climax peaks where Mallard struggles
to physically cope with the sorrow that fills her until a sudden shift in the plot
suggests somewhat of an epiphany through her break down. Mallard s perspective
goes from mourning to a boisterous celebration of joy within such an instant, her
outcry was confused for making herself ill with her mourning. As her sister reached
to console her, she met Josephine with quite the contrast of emotions from when we
initially met Mallard. A jolt of raw unadulterated joy from the realization that she is
in every sense of the word, free. The reaction to her epiphany would suggest an
underlying suppression of her true feelings that our main character may have not
realized throughout her marriage.
Towards the end that through miscommunication, Mrs. Louise Mallard s husband
was not deceased. In fact, he was so far removed from the incident itself that he was
not aware of such a monstrous accident. At this point of the
The Science of the Spud
The Science of the Spud a History of the Potato Battery Experiment
There are hot potatoes, french fried potatoes, baked potatoes and scalloped potatoes.
There are potato chips, potato pies and potato soufflГ©s. Last, but not least, there s
the potato battery. Who on earth invented the electric spud? Why does it work? For
that matter, why would anyone want to see if a potato could conduct electricity in the
first place? Well, we may never be able to answer some of the questions this quirky
experiment raises, but a brief overview of the possible origins, quirky chemical
compositions and remarkable staying power of the grin inducing oddity that is the
potato battery is sure to be worthwhile.

If it doesn t rearrange how you re connecting the wires to the clock, light bulb, etc.
VoilГ, instant electricity. Granted, it only produces about two volts, maximum, but it
works.
Why it Works
Without getting too technical, electricity is the result of a chemical reaction. As a
Berkeley teacher s guide to this experiment demonstrates, the penny is copper, while
the galvanized nail is coated in zinc. When zinc, which is negatively charged, comes
into contact with an acid, electrons are freed in a chemical reaction. Copper, which is
positively charged, accepts those electrons, thereby creating an electric circuit.
What is the acid that makes this little miracle of potato power? It s the mild
phosphoric acid H3PO4, which occurs naturally in potatoes and other starches. Just
this acid is enough to cause the release of electrons and their acceptance on the other
end of the circuit. Those electrons are the electric flow, an atomic phenomenon that is
measurable on your kitchen table.
What it Means
While two volts of electricity isn t enough to even light a room, the potato battery
does show promise. According to Business Wire, Yissum Research Development
Company Ltd. has made a spud science breakthrough. It s hard to believe, but until
2010 no one, apparently, had tried boiling the potato before sticking it full of copper
and zinc. Turns out, if you boil the potato, its electrical capacity increases tenfold,
Case Study Of Demand For Fresh Potatoes
Demand for Fresh Potatoes:
Given the lack of reliable production and consumption data these are illustrative
estimates only. Future demand is derived using projected population statistics of
2002. The population in 2002 was 25 million and the population growth between
1991 2002 was 3.2 %, and by 2015 the projected population growth as per an
estimate would rise to 35 million. We also assume that potato demand equals supply
as there is no external potato trade between Uganda and other
Countries in the region. This would mean that any impact achieved through the
adoption of new
Technologies, improved marketing or accelerated urbanisation would increase
demand levels. Assuming that with current growth of investments opportunities in
Uganda and more FDI to flow in and the production of potato growing at 3% per
annum there will be a spurt in the demand of fresh potatoes. By an ... Show more

The fresh potato supply chain is highly unorganised and characterised by
involvement of various players and risks factor. There is no storage facilities for
fresh potatoes and the reason found was not because of the unavailability of cold

players in the supply chain. There is avoidance of any storages and potatoes are
entitled to be sold within 3 days from the farm gate. The bulk buyers are hotels,

Essay on Cat People versus Dog People
I know the biggest discussion when you are about to get a new pet is; am I a cat
person or dog person? I m about to solve your confusion. 62% of United States
homes have at least one pet. Overall, homes that claim to have pets 78 million of
them are dogs and 86 million are cats. These numbers are misleading, according to a
survey in the Reader s Digest 41% identified that they were catpeople where as 74%
were dog people (Reader s Digest). My sister is a major dog person she can t live
without them some days. Her latest addition to the family is a Vizsla puppy named

More facts about cat people are that they are more likely to live in an apartment, as
well as to live alone with the exception of cats (Reader s Digest). However, that does
not mean there is an overabundance of cats in said apartment.
Dog personality based people are more of a social breed. These types on average
are more likely to be men. This is not much of a surprise since dogs are usually
referred to as man s best friend. Their personalities center on being conservative and
extroverted (Reader s Digest). As such, they hold to tradition and are an outgoing,
overtly expressive person. Within social gatherings, they move around a lot usually
seeking attention or people to talk to. Their sense of humor tends to be drawn to
slapstick humor. Slapstick is a type of broad physical comedy involving boisterous,
violent activities which may exceed the boundaries of common sense. The home life
of a dog person usually resides within rural areas, and are most often married with a
family.
There is always the chance that someone could prefer both cats and dogs. This fact
is supported by people who have both, but are more likely to think in the same
fashion of a dog person. In this case you are also likely to talk to your animals,
possibly have a four year degree and even dislike animal print clothing. I know those
sound a little nuts but I have to admit when you need someone to talk to cats are
great. I am working on that four year
The Creation Of The World
Creation stories are obviously stories about the creation of the world. They, just
like us, vary in their origins and how they are structured. Each contains the tale of
how that certain culture or religion views the beginning of everything, ranging
from the animals to the world itself. Creators came in the form of gods or other
super human beings and they handled each world differently. These stories each
gave us an idea of how the world we are living in was made, and some even tells us
about how we were made.
The creation stories I have chosen originate in China, the Christian religion, and
finally, a Norse creation story. They all include some big, super human creator,
though they handle the story a bit differently than each other. No matter what though,
they still are connected in the fact that they talk about the creation of the world, and
that connection is eternal. Creation stories have given each person a view of what
happened way before their own time and it sticks with people as they go through
time. Each story can reflect how that religion or culture worked and it is quite
interesting. These stories help bind many people together, and even the most
different of people can find similarities between each other and come together using
these stories.
We shall start off with the Chinese view of the creation of the world. Their story
begins with the heavens and Earth being one and everything being in chaos. A man
named Pan Gu was being carried in a big black egg, which

Observing Kepler s Three Laws Of Dynamicary Motion
The method of perturbations is a method of detecting other planets. For example, the
discovery of the planet Neptune was discovered using perturbation theory.
According to Newton s laws of motion, the planets move in elliptical orbits about a
common center of mass; in this case, the center of mass (barycenter) of the solar
system. In a simplified case, we can consider the 2 body problem; we have two point
masses mutually orbiting each other about their common center of mass (take the
EarthSunsystem). Now, we want to determine the evolution of this dynamical
system over time. We know that the two point masses move according to Kepler s
three laws of planetary motion and Newton s law of universal gravitation. I would
state these laws here but I don t want to be accused of copying so feel free to look
them up in any physics textbook.
Now, what you will know notice is that over time as these two point mass particles
orbit each other about their common center of mass, there will be deviations from
Newton s laws. One example of such a deviation would be the gravitational effects of
a third point mass. Another example would be corrections for general relativistic
effects. Take, for example, the perihelion precession of Mercury. Yet another example

Now, in the case of Neptune, we detected Neptune due to its gravitational effects on
the planet Uranus. Due to these gravitational effects, Uranus s orbit deviated from
what would be predicted by Newton s laws of motion. In the same vein, if we have
some planet X in our system of N point masses mutually orbiting about that system s
common center of mass or barycenter, then we can use perturbation theory to
calculate deviations from Newton s laws of motion due to the gravitational effect of
that planet on the other planets in the system, and thus detect the new

Pressure On Teenagers To Go To College Essay
The Pressure On Students
Is There Too Much Pressure On Teenagers To Go To College? Teens are under
immense pressure to join college. Reason being everyone expects them to perform
very well in every discipline which may not be the case for some. Everyone has
different abilities, and when one is under pressure to deliver especially in school,
the feeling can be frustrating. Parents want the best for their children and so do the
teachers and the society in general. Many admire joining the top colleges, followed
by a lucrative job in this competitive economy. To meet these expectations, teens
have to perform extremely well in school. The parents will put a lot of pressure on

This is where they have to choose a path before joining the next level either college,
trade school or career. Students are in a competitive environment hence the need to
achieve the same goal as you.
With the daily activities happening in their life, they are anxious to keep up. For
some, even a simple task of getting prepared to attend class is a challenge. The anxiety

Feminine Mystique By Betty Friedan
Strong willed, intelligent, and motivated are only some of the words we can use to
describe Betty Friedan. Credited as being the mother of the second wave of feminism,
Friedan was an influential women s right activist during the twentieth century but her
legacy has continued to strive well into the twenty first century. Friedan is the author
of a variety of books including The Feminine Mystique, which became a
phenomenon because of its powerful message to women for self exploration outside
their traditional roles. This book helped to define Friedan s role in the fight for
women empowerment and equality. It evoked emotions in many women who agreed
that they did not want to fulfil traditional roles, creating an atmosphere of change.
She was also the cofounder of the National Organization for Women(NOW), serving
as its first president and also helped to create the National Association for the Repeal
of Abortion Laws and the National Women s Political Caucus. With these
organizations, Friedan became the face of the women s movement and encouraged

Portrayal of Women in Rap and Music Videos Essay
Misogyny and degradation of women is present in almost every genre of music,
yet the one genre that completely revolves around demeaning women is rap. Over
the years rap and rap music videos have continually become more sexual and
degrading towards women. Rap has been criticized numerous times for this reason,
and that is because rap is one of the most popular genres of music for the younger
generations. It is more than a genre of music, it is a complete industry filled with
clothing and other merchandise. The reason this constant demeaning of women
exists is because rap as a genre that rewards the objectification of women. The
excuses used to justify the misogyny in rap are incomplete and lack accurate support.

A rapper couldn t use a line describing what she did in the movie, let alone film it in
a video, without getting heat for it (Keyes 256). While some may choose to side
with this argument, rap truly takes sexual portrayal of women in both music
videos and songs to the next level. In rap music videos, diamond covered rappers
stand next to cars as scantily dressed women dance around them. This is the
premise of the majority of rap music videos and both young girls and boys all over
the world see the constant objectification of women in these videos. Naturally this
concerns the parents of these kids, and many critics believes that the images kids
see on T.V directly correlate to their development and thinking: exposure to rap
music videos, which is explicit about sex and violence and rarely shows the
potential long term adverse effects of risky behavior, may influence adolescents by
modeling thee unhealthy practices (Thrash). Parents should become more aware of
these videos, and make sure that their young daughters are not watching them. Yet,
once they get to the age where they could be recruited for these videos it is
important that they are educated about this industry. This education should come
from the home, but I think it would also be important to provide workshops for girls
about this issue. Since anorexia is such a problem among girls many companies and
organizations put together workshops to educate young girls. One example of this is

The Changes in the Catholic Church during the High
Middle...
In the year 1378, the Roman Catholic Church became divided when the King of
France decided to replace the current Italian Pope with one that he elected. During the
Great Schism, there were two popes claiming authority over the Catholic Church.
Following the split, the papal offices began to lose their authority. Ultimately, the
cardinals of both popesdecided that an ecumenical council of godly men could
collectively possess more divine authority that just one pope. In 1409 at the council of
Pisa, the church council was asked to elect a new pope that would unite the sides,
meaning there would be three popes. Now, there was Pope Urban VI from Italy,
Pope Clement VII from France, and the new member, Pope Alexander V. Neither
the Roman or French popes were willing to give up their power, now creating a
three way battle for the church s authority. From 1414 1418, the Council of
Constance was successful in healing the Schism, leading to the resignation of the
Roman Pope. The schism was healed and there was room for an election of a single
pope, Pope Martin V, who reigned from 1417 1431. The Great Schism of the West
introduced a newly expanded authority for the general councils of the church.
Furthermore, during this time, the church was undergoing a cleansing process
regarding the different religions that were practiced. Now, women were active
participants in the spiritual movements of the age. The amount if women joining

when four soldiers of this battalion went to a house, raped a girl and killed her and

how the 1 502nd did in their pre deployment training. The main focus in Iraq at the

First contact actually came from the Alamo. First contact really showed the soldiers
the seriousness of their situation. As the soldiers started to fortify their positions,

In the next part of the book Frederick talks about continued strife between all levels
of leadership and the establishment of the TCPs. There were 6 TCPs, or tactical

Teacher directed experience This observation part took place during circle time.
The children sat down in a large circle carpet, each on a letter. One of the teachers
sat directly across the children, with her back facing the calendar. The other
teacher sat down in between two children. All the windows were open and there
was music playing softly in the background, as they got ready to start. Teacher

Industrialization in India
Need for Trend of Industrialization in India
What is Industry?
In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and
that promotes employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities,
from farming to manufacturing and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale,
from the local sometimes known as cottage industry to the multinational or
transnational.
In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when
that production is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of
industry that is embodied by the notion of industrialization: the transition to an
economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production of goods by a

Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been
accompanied by a growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the CГґte d
Azur in France; Silicon Valley in California; and along the M4 motorway, around
Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called Silicon Glen in the UK. The long
term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the speed of the
process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management.
Transnational Corporations
Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the
rise of the multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies,
which operate in many countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and
Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN) estimates that investment by
transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20 years,
largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their
countries.
Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of
concerns. An enormous amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of
a few controllers, which means that the countries involved become directly
susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The transfer of assets
from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent,
and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries.

Write An Essay On Vaccination And Autism
By Albert Lin 440352051
As a second year university student currently completing a Bachelor of Health
Sciences at the University of Sydney, I have explored a large variety of health issues,
many of which are still relevant today. After extensively analyzing the
Biopsychosocial Model of the health system throughout my course, I came across the
interesting topic on the relationship between vaccinations and autism. Due to the
intriguing and ongoing nature of the controversy, I have decided that the research
question for my academic essay will be to determine Whether vaccinations really
cause autism in children . The essay will analyse the research question through the
conceptual framework of the rhetorical situation.
Rhetorical Situation
When defining the Rhetorical Situation, Bitzer (1992) describes it as a network of
people, circumstances, objects, and relations that stimulates discussion, which in the
suitable context has the potential to alter the situation (p.6). He notes that there are
three factors that constitute any rhetorical situation. The first factor is Exigence,
which highlights the need to discuss about a certain issue or topic. The second is the
Audience, who are the reactors to the topic and are often presented with a certain
perspective that aims to persuade them to support the issue. The third and final
factors are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the overwhelming evidence of favourable outcomes provided by
vaccinations, the last few decades have seen an increase in the prominence of anti
vaccination movements (Blume, 2006, p. 630). As such, vaccinations are heavily
scrutinised on the basis of their safety and effectiveness; this is particularly
noteworthy in the case for childhood vaccinations (Kata, 2012, p.
Star Wars Attack Of The Clones Essay
If ever a film was regrettably viewed, it would be Star Wars Episode II: Attack of
the Clones. Regularly regarded as the worst in the series, Clones holds the title for
most wooden acting, bad writing, unwanted CGI, and awkward moments ever seen
in big budget sci fi. Even the action, as extensive it was, had a lack of thrill, simply
because the human variant relied too heavily on their CGI partner. However, the film
is canon. We witness Anakin carve himself a path that will lead to his inevitable end
in the Dark Side; a forbidden romance of Jedi and Senator. We see the story that
brings about the beginnings of Luke and Leia. Narratively, this movie is important,
but viewing wise, it s just bad. First off, the action sequences, hyped as they... Show

Either due to the acting or the writing, Anakin Skywalker wasn t done well. First,
old Ben Kenobi said to a young Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope, He
was a good friend , yet, in Attack of the Clones Anakin continuously flips between
rejecting Obi Wan and relying on the man as a father figure, saying, It s all Obi
Wan s fault. He s jealous. He s holding me back , leaving a rather frustrated and
strained relationship in their wake (Anakin). The boy has a misguided view on his
own importance, believing that his status alone as the Chosen One should be
enough for him to be placed high in the ranks in the Jedi Order. Thus, this gives
Anakin the reasoning that he is above the Jedi s rules. His romance with Senator
Padme Amidala, questionable at best, stems from the resentment he holds for his
fellow Jedi. Where are the parallels between Anakin and Vader? In the Original
trilogy, Obi Wan showed admiration towards the Jedi that was Anakin Skywalker,
but this is not the cunning warrior that Old Ben described to Luke. In Attack of the
Clones Anakin s fall was painfully obvious, as it was written, acted, and directed
Conformity In Emerson s Self-Reliance
In the dictionary, conformity is defined as compliance with standards, rules, or laws.
. The reason I believe that conformity is a common element in both Emerson s Self
Reliance and Gladwell s Outliers is because in Self Reliance, Emerson believed that
to be self reliant, you must avoid conformity. Gladwell agrees with this in chapter 8
of Outliers, where he states that we tend to conform to rules based off of where we
are from and how we were raised. This chapter was a perfect example because of
how all those children were raised. As stated previously, a big key factor in Self
Reliance was the concept that Emerson truly didn t want others to follow
conformity. He wanted people to remain true to themselves due to the fact that it
follows along with the essence of the Universal Spirit. To believe your own
thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men,
that is genius (Emerson, 19). After Emerson discusses conformity, he delves into
the discussion of innocence and infants. He discusses this as a nod to
nonconformity. Infancy conforms to nobody: all conform to it, so that the babe
commonly makes four or five out of the adults who prattle and play to it (Emerson,
20). In a whole, Emerson s Self Reliance was more or less
Building Quality Public Facilities For A Sustainable...
On September 30th, 1995 The Glenview Naval Air Base that had resided in
Glenview, IL for 58 years, was closed (About Glenview, n.d.). Next, the village
worked with the Glenview Community Reuse Planning Group and in conjunction
with the United States Navy to plan and develop economic alternatives for the Naval
base (Master Plan and Design Guidelines, 2008). Over the next decade, The Village
worked towards the development The Glen Town Center, in efforts of attaining their
goal of creating a lasting source of pride for the community by building quality public
amenities, infrastructure, housing plus recreational and job opportunities (Master
Plan and Design Guidelines, 2008). In its construction, The Glen utilizes several
principals of the smart growth model, or the sustainable development of healthy
communities. The Glen successfully strengthens development toward an existing
community, creates a range of housing opportunities and choices, creates walkable
neighborhoods, provides a variety of transportation choices, takes advantages of
compact building design, and preserves open space, farmland, natural beauty and
critical environmental areas (Friedland, Relyea, Courard Hauri, 2012). As previously
noted, The Glen was formerly a Naval Air Station, but was reformed into the
combination of residential and commercial areas we utilize today, an integralportion
of the smart growth model. Since the base was closed in 1995, the Village of
Glenview needed to occupy the vacant

Prohibition was the Time to be a Criminal in America
There d never been a more advantageous time to be a criminal in America than during
the 13 years of Prohibition. At a stroke, the American government closed down the
fifth largest industry in the United States alcohol production and just handed it to
criminals a pretty remarkable thing to do
(Bill Bryson). The twenties was a fast paced fun, loving time, the one problem was
no alcohol. With the twenties came the rise of jazz, flappers, different fashions, and
prohibition. Jazz, flappers, and different fashions made life enjoyable but,
prohibition caused the rise of criminals, who saw the demand for alcohol, and the
opportunity to make money, by selling it to average people, along with government
officials. Noteworthy criminals helped define the roaring twenties by helping
everyday citizens break the law. To understand how this defined the decade, it is
important to explore how gangsters provided alcohol to citizens, bribed police and
government officials, and made criminals popular. Prohibition was a law passed
whereby the manufacture, sale and transportation of alcohol was illegal, this gave
gangsters and average citizens the opportunity to make easy money, if they did not
get caught. The most noteworthy criminal during this time was Al Capone, in
Chicago, he bribed government officials, ran bootlegging rackets, prostitution, and
gambling dens. Al Capone didn t become a criminal overnight, at a young age he
dropped out of school and was welcomed into the local
Japan s Foreign Policy During The End Of The Twentieth...
In the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Japan was a strong
militaristic country that held a strong power and influence in the Asia Pacific
region. It was an expansionist and strong imperialist nation similar as the Western
colonizers such as England, the Dutch, Russia, France and Germany. The Japanese
empire extended from the Dutch East Indies in the south to Manchuria in the north
before the country surrendered on September 1945 to the Allies. The Allied Power
led by General Douglas MacArthur had occupied Japan for several years before it
was fully liberated in 1952. After the occupation, Japan s foreign policy was given
back to its government. The country took the opportunity given to repair its relations
with its neighbours. Some historians claimed that the reconciliation period was
successful through several treaties agreed upon the East Asian countries in the
1960s. However, it was different side of the story when the issue was asked to the
Japanese former colonies. A lot of its people will claim that they could not forget
what the Empire of Japanhad done to them. Hence, it would be wise to ask how does
Japan war history would affect its relations with its East Asia neighbours?
This paper will explain the two most significant impacts that the aggressive Empire of
Japan history affects its connections with its neighbours. History has caused the
reconciliation process between the countries to be delayed and continues frictions
between them to occur.
Fraud And Negligence In Mona s Case
. Fraud occurs when someone acts with the intent to cause damage by
misrepresentation. Negligence, however, is failing to act in a way that any
reasonable person would in the same situation. Fraud and negligence are both
considered torts because they are a civil wrong, which is when one does wrong to
another person, and as a result you can sue for their actions. In Mona s case she was
clearly negligent for the auditreports and preparing the financial statements for
Cardozo Corporation because she was not aware of the situation or the bank in this
case and she did not have the intent to deceive. The verdict was decided in the
Barclays Bank v. Grant Thornton case. In this case the auditors were accused for

Restatement of Torts, in which the law states that any professional or business is
liable if the information that was relied on causes a loss without the other party
knowing the loss would occur. Mona knew the financial statements and reports
were going to be used for a loan, even if she did not know what bank was giving the

behind her audit reports. Due to the fact that she did not foresee what her audit
reports were going to be used for and the extent to where it would end up, Mona
would be liable to Wright Machinery or any other third party for that matter because
it is outside of the area of interest in which she knows exactly what her statements and

Identity in the Works of Eavan Boland and Seamus Heaney
Many times poetry is reflective of the author s past as well as their personal
struggles. One struggle that poets write about is of identity and the creation, as well
as loss, of individual identities. Using a passage from the essay Lava Cameo by
Eavan Boland, I will show how two poets use their craft to describe their struggle
with identity. Eavan Boland and Seamus Heaney both write poems which express an
internal struggle with roles of identity and how they recreate their roles to fit their
needs. Through retrospection and reflection, both poets come to realize that the roles
they led as well as those they reinvented have created their own personal identities.
Boland, in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She states, ...I found my poetry and my sexuality on a collision course. Poetry like
any art form is said to either dictate life or life is to dictate it, which she makes
reference to with ...the active lens of poetry. With that understanding she made
connections between the traditions of the real world and those of the fictitious
worlds created in poetry. Men created the traditions and customs associated with
poetry. These traditions have objectified women and placed them as the primary
focus of much of poetry, often times in a subordinate manner. Boland states that in
poetry women were used as ...metaphors and invocations, similes and muses. Boland
s experiences as a woman do not fit into the traditional poems that men had written.
Due to this, she felt an internal struggle when trying to master her craft between her
role as a woman and the role of women observed in traditional poetry.
Boland would practice her craft and write line after line expressing her mind as a
human being. In the end however, she found it inescapable that her life as a woman
would become the ultimate object of the poetry. She found that as much as she tried
to express her perceptions in her poetry she could not find an identity independent of
a man s identity. Poetry as a craft was molded in the perceptions of men. Women
lacked an identity, without which the female perceptions are unidentifiable. The craft

OPERATION ANACONDA: JOINT OPERATION PLANNING ERRORS
Joint Operations After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Twin Towers,
the United States (US) declared a global war on terrorism. Afghanistan was the first
battleground with Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; US forces engaged enemy
combatants in effort to deter, isolate and destroy, terrorist networks. In the early
stages, unified land operations consisted mostly of special operation forces (SOF)
with support of the US Airforce, US Navy, allies and Afghan Security Forces (ASF).
This early collation was a joint effort that proved successful during the early phases of
the operation. Engagement of enemy forces successfully deterred their operational
capabilities and efforts that pushed enemy forces into Shahi Kot Valley. This
concentration of enemy forces in Shahi Kot Valley fostered the development of
Operation ANACONDA, a joint, interagency, intergovernmental, multinational
(JIIM) operation. The joint operations planning process (JOPP), employed during the
operational design failed to achieve the desired combat power necessary for
successful shaping operations and decisive action.
Challenges Gathering Accurate Intelligence The Combined Joint Task Force(CJTF)
Mountain (10th Mountain Division), was assigned command and control (C2) of
Operation Anaconda. In early 2002, CJTF Mountain initiated the joint

  • 2. The History of African Americans in Film Essay Minstrel shows were developed in the 1840 s and reached its peak after the Civil War. They managed to remain popular into the early 1900s. The Minstrel shows were shows in which white performers would paint their faces black and act the role of an African American. This was called black facing. The minstrel showevolved from two types of entertainment popular in America before 1830: the impersonation of blacks given by white actors between acts of plays or during circuses, and the performances of black musicians who sang, with banjo accompaniment, in city streets. The father of American minstrelsy was Thomas Dartmouth Daddy Rice, who between 1828 and 1831 developed a song and dance routine in which he impersonated an old, crippled... Though many of these shows claimed that these were true African Americansongs that had been brought back by people who had observed plantation slaves, this wasn?t necessarily true. For example one of the more common songs such as ?Jim Crow?by Thomas Rice was simply inspired by a crippled African American that Rice had seen dancing and singing a song with the chorus of ?Wheel about, an turn about, an do jis so, Eb ry time I wheel about, I jump Jim Crow.? Many people were lead to believe that this was how every African American sang and danced and failed to realize that this was simply the way one man did it. Actual African American actors were rare at the time. There were only a few African Americans that actually appeared on stage and those who did only had minor roles such as servants or shoe shiners. This was mainly because the world was used to African Americans being slaves doing jobs such as these and people weren?t ready to accept African Americans as equals yet. There had however been several attempts of African American stage performance such as New York?s African Grove theater. This theater was founded

They were gaining more respect and honor than previous time periods, whereas women were only known to keep the house and children. However, women were also known for their seductiveness in this time period. They also were more loved for their virtues rather than their prettiness. Women in the medieval time period were being put in more higher places and were being on more power. In the medieval time period women were increasingly becoming more noticed as well as being put in high places. Before the twelfth century there was no place for women to reign as queens. Only after the death of a king did a queen hold the royal chair for but a brief time until either a husband was suitable for the royal crown or a son who was not old enough yet reached the appropriate age to rule in government with his mother. However, there were three daughters of kings Alfonso VI of Castile, Baldwin II of Jerusalem, and Henry I of England forced the problem of female succession after failure of male heirs to be acknowledged. Urraca utilized full authority instantly after Alfonso VI s death. She was unquestionably the ruler of the royal chair in her own right for a time. Puerto Rican society was not devoid of color consciousness or prejudice, but racial categories were different that in the United States (53). Once on the mainland the musicians encountered an entirely different system for the categorization of people. A more simplistic system that relied on the hue of the skin as opposed to facial features, hair texture, ...wealth or occupation (53). Namely those who had white skin were placed into one category and those that did not into another. The racist tendencies of the Americans led to the negation of all that was black by the Puerto Rican community. Puerto Ricans were much more prone to settle in pockets with their lighter compatriotas than to except external definitions of themselves and move into the black American sections of Harlem (73). The focus on race does not imply that money did not play an important role in American society either, however, it did not play a major role in the book. Glasser employs racially descriptive terms, throughout the book, that are confusing and unintelligible. These terms are found frequently, although they are not previously explained. Often the term itself describes two different groups. One such term is white which at one point means North American and yet on other occasions it means a Light skinned Puerto Rican. Within the span of two pages Glasser speaks of latin relief bands that were made up of whites only (76). The clear implication here is that the Latin

Illusion versus Reality: Marriage in Modern Literature Modern literature is known for questioning society and its various conventions. One question that these works often ask is, What is real? Some modern authors explore this question by placing their characters within self constructed illusions that are later shattered by the introduction of reality. Marriages are frequently at the center of this theme, with one spouse crafting an illusory impression of the other. Modern literature demonstrates that a marriage built upon illusion will falter when exposed to reality. • 15. Short Note On Emma Lazarus Emma Lazarus, a nineteenth century Jewish American poet, was born on July 22, 1849 in New York City. Her parents, Moses and Esther Nathan Lazarus, had seven children. She was the fourth of the seven to born, with five sisters and one brother. Emma was born into one of the oldest and most prestigious Hebrew families in New York. The Nathan Lazarus family was descended from the early Jewish settlers in America. By the time Emma was born, they had been established in Manhattan for four generations. The Lazarus family, descended from Sephardic Jews, were wealthy, earning their fortune in the sugar refining business. Being born into a wealthy family provided Emma with the resources to acquire a strong, rich, and classical education. In 1866, at the age of seventeen, her poems and translations were first published by her father, who was a very influential man at that time (Young, 1995). Two years later, she sent her writing to Ralph Waldo Emerson, a respected American poet and literary essayist and lecturer of the 19th century. He was impressed by her work, and soon became her mentor, and friend (Young, 1995). During her lifetime, he became a great resource of guidance and motivation. Emma Lazarus was a well known author during her lifetime. In 1874, she was recognized as an author of note (Young, 1995). She published more than 50 poems in popular magazines, such as Lippincott s, The Century, and The Critic. In 1871, she published a book of poetry called Admetus and Other
  • 16. Adam And Nimrod Are Not Just Characters From Dante s Work Adam and Nimrod are not just characters from Dante s work. They both have origins in Christianity. Genesis 3 is about Adam s sin, the first sin; disobeying the Lord caused the fall of man. Genesis 11 is about Nimrod s sin. Nimrod was the first ruler in the land of Shinar (Gen 10.10). Men, migrating east, settled in Shinar and planned to construct a tower so tall, that it would reach the sky because this would make a name for [themselves] (Gen. 11.4). When the Lord noticed this tower, he scattered them . . . all over the earth, as well as [confusing] the speech of all the world (Gen. 11.8 9). I agree with V. Stanley Benfell; Nimrod s sin, resulting in the fall of the language, is similar to the first sin that caused the fall of man. Sins in the Hebrew Bible To start with, the first man, Adam, is responsible for the original sin. Genesis 3 introduces the last creature the Lord made, the serpent (Everts 253). Though not clarified in Genesis 3, Revelations 12:9 considers the serpent to be the devil. The serpent tempts the first woman, Eve, to disobey the Lord. The serpent chooses Eve instead of Adam, because she is easier to manipulate (Everts 254). The Lord had allowed Adam and Eve to eat from any tree, except from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Genesis 2.16 17). Eve gave the fruit from the forbidden tree to Adam (Genesis 3.6). When the Lord discovered that the two humans had eaten the fruit he forbade them from eating, he made the serpent eat only dust, made
  • 17. The Demand And Supply Analysis Introduction: The most important tool in microeconomics is the demand and supply analysis. Demand refers to the amount of the product which is desired by the purchaser at a certain price level where as the supply of the product represents the amount of quantity that is supplied in the market at a certain level of price. There are different factors on which demand is dependent. Apart from the price of the product, the demand depends upon the income, the number of consumers, preferences of the consumers and income of the consumers. The supply of the product depends upon the price of the product, future expectation of the prices and price of the factors of production (Colander 2013). Resources availability is limited in the country so there is a need to observe the demand and supply so that the resources are not exhausted. The demand and supply mechanism is analyzed before getting into a detailed discussion upon the demand and supply of human resources and iron ore resources in the Australian economy. Several newspaper articles has been collected showing the demand for the skills in the state of Queensland and the supply iron ore has dropped in respect of the increase in global supply more than the demand. Mechanism of Demand and Supply: When the other factors, which are seen to affect the demand for the product is constant then a rise in the price of the product, will lead to fall and when there is fall in the prices then there will be an increase in the demand. There is

Watson found the model building approach employed by Linus Pauling as a sensational new method to solving the alpha helix as the structure for proteins (Pages 18 19 Watson s approach to solving the DNA (deoxyribose nucleic acid) was to employ model building as done by Linus Pauling at Cal Tech for the alpha helix structure of proteins. Watson was wary of the fact that Pauling relied on simple laws of structural chemistry to solve his model rather complex mathematical approach (Page 27). Such an approach meant that Watson who was trained in the arts of Physics or Chemistry could dabble at the model for a DNA without having to spend an extravagant time required to learn the arts of X ray crystallography and in depth chemistry. It is not a good idea to draw a sketch accurately because between a sketch and the final drawing things change drastically (Friedman). So it shouldn t be perfect. It should be something a drafter can interpret in different ways. To sketch a drawing an idea must first be thought of. Then once the idea has been thought of the drafter begins with a piece of graph paper and a pencil. There are no tools needed for a sketch. The boxes on the graph paper can be used as a guide and a scale (Friedman). A sketch is just an estimation of the real thing. So one just estimates, nothing else. CADD is very hard to sketch in. Some of the more sophisticated programs have a function where the mouse can act like a sketch pencil (Bethune, 13). Although this seems like it might be like the pencil it is not. Mice are harder to keep straight and even the lightweight drawing tasks may make the hand tired (Bethune, 13). Other ways of getting a sketch on the computer are scanners, electronic pens or touch pads. With the electronic pen, just point at the screen and that is where the dot, line or shape shows up. However one moves the pen is what shows up. This can be hard because a screen is at a weird angle, which makes drawing awkward. The touch pad however can be bought to the size of the screen. These

If it doesn t rearrange how you re connecting the wires to the clock, light bulb, etc. VoilГ, instant electricity. Granted, it only produces about two volts, maximum, but it works. Why it Works Without getting too technical, electricity is the result of a chemical reaction. As a Berkeley teacher s guide to this experiment demonstrates, the penny is copper, while the galvanized nail is coated in zinc. When zinc, which is negatively charged, comes into contact with an acid, electrons are freed in a chemical reaction. Copper, which is positively charged, accepts those electrons, thereby creating an electric circuit. What is the acid that makes this little miracle of potato power? It s the mild phosphoric acid H3PO4, which occurs naturally in potatoes and other starches. Just this acid is enough to cause the release of electrons and their acceptance on the other end of the circuit. Those electrons are the electric flow, an atomic phenomenon that is measurable on your kitchen table. What it Means While two volts of electricity isn t enough to even light a room, the potato battery does show promise. According to Business Wire, Yissum Research Development Company Ltd. has made a spud science breakthrough. It s hard to believe, but until 2010 no one, apparently, had tried boiling the potato before sticking it full of copper and zinc. This is not much of a surprise since dogs are usually referred to as man s best friend. Their personalities center on being conservative and extroverted (Reader s Digest). Each contains the tale of how that certain culture or religion views the beginning of everything, ranging from the animals to the world itself. Creators came in the form of gods or other super human beings and they handled each world differently. These stories each gave us an idea of how the world we are living in was made, and some even tells us about how we were made. The creation stories I have chosen originate in China, the Christian religion, and finally, a Norse creation story. They all include some big, super human creator, though they handle the story a bit differently than each other. No matter what though, they still are connected in the fact that they talk about the creation of the world, and that connection is eternal. Creation stories have given each person a view of what happened way before their own time and it sticks with people as they go through time. Each story can reflect how that religion or culture worked and it is quite interesting. These stories help bind many people together, and even the most different of people can find similarities between each other and come together using these stories. • 29. Observing Kepler s Three Laws Of Dynamicary Motion The method of perturbations is a method of detecting other planets. For example, the discovery of the planet Neptune was discovered using perturbation theory. According to Newton s laws of motion, the planets move in elliptical orbits about a common center of mass; in this case, the center of mass (barycenter) of the solar system. In a simplified case, we can consider the 2 body problem; we have two point masses mutually orbiting each other about their common center of mass (take the EarthSunsystem). Now, we want to determine the evolution of this dynamical system over time. We know that the two point masses move according to Kepler s three laws of planetary motion and Newton s law of universal gravitation. I would state these laws here but I don t want to be accused of copying so feel free to look them up in any physics textbook. Now, what you will know notice is that over time as these two point mass particles orbit each other about their common center of mass, there will be deviations from Newton s laws. Ultimately, the cardinals of both popesdecided that an ecumenical council of godly men could collectively possess more divine authority that just one pope. In 1409 at the council of Pisa, the church council was asked to elect a new pope that would unite the sides, meaning there would be three popes. • 40. Industrialization in India Need for Trend of Industrialization in India What is Industry? In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and that promotes employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities, from farming to manufacturing and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale, from the local sometimes known as cottage industry to the multinational or transnational. In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when that production is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of industry that is embodied by the notion of industrialization: the transition to an economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production of goods by a concentrated, ... Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been accompanied by a growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the CГґte d Azur in France; Silicon Valley in California; and along the M4 motorway, around Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called Silicon Glen in the UK. The long term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the speed of the process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management. Transnational Corporations Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the rise of the multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies, which operate in many countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN) estimates that investment by transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20 years, largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their countries. Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of concerns. An enormous amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of a few controllers, which means that the countries involved become directly susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The transfer of assets from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent, and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries. Manufacturing

Write An Essay On Vaccination And Autism By Albert Lin 440352051 As a second year university student currently completing a Bachelor of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney, I have explored a large variety of health issues, many of which are still relevant today. After extensively analyzing the Biopsychosocial Model of the health system throughout my course, I came across the interesting topic on the relationship between vaccinations and autism. Due to the intriguing and ongoing nature of the controversy, I have decided that the research question for my academic essay will be to determine Whether vaccinations really cause autism in children . The essay will analyse the research question through the conceptual framework of the rhetorical situation. Rhetorical Situation When defining the Rhetorical Situation, Bitzer (1992) describes it as a network of people, circumstances, objects, and relations that stimulates discussion, which in the suitable context has the potential to alter the situation (p.6). He notes that there are three factors that constitute any rhetorical situation. The first factor is Exigence, which highlights the need to discuss about a certain issue or topic. The second is the Audience, who are the reactors to the topic and are often presented with a certain perspective that aims to persuade them to support the issue. The third and final factors are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 42. Star Wars Attack Of The Clones Essay If ever a film was regrettably viewed, it would be Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Regularly regarded as the worst in the series, Clones holds the title for most wooden acting, bad writing, unwanted CGI, and awkward moments ever seen in big budget sci fi. Even the action, as extensive it was, had a lack of thrill, simply because the human variant relied too heavily on their CGI partner. However, the film is canon. We witness Anakin carve himself a path that will lead to his inevitable end in the Dark Side; a forbidden romance of Jedi and Senator. We see the story that brings about the beginnings of Luke and Leia. Narratively, this movie is important, but viewing wise, it s just bad. First off, the action sequences, hyped as they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Either due to the acting or the writing, Anakin Skywalker wasn t done well. First, old Ben Kenobi said to a young Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope, He was a good friend , yet, in Attack of the Clones Anakin continuously flips between rejecting Obi Wan and relying on the man as a father figure, saying, It s all Obi Wan s fault. He s jealous. He s holding me back , leaving a rather frustrated and strained relationship in their wake (Anakin). The boy has a misguided view on his own importance, believing that his status alone as the Chosen One should be enough for him to be placed high in the ranks in the Jedi Order. Thus, this gives Anakin the reasoning that he is above the Jedi s rules. His romance with Senator Padme Amidala, questionable at best, stems from the resentment he holds for his fellow Jedi. Where are the parallels between Anakin and Vader? In the Original trilogy, Obi Wan showed admiration towards the Jedi that was Anakin Skywalker, but this is not the cunning warrior that Old Ben described to Luke. In Attack of the Clones Anakin s fall was painfully obvious, as it was written, acted, and directed
  • 43. Conformity In Emerson s Self-Reliance In the dictionary, conformity is defined as compliance with standards, rules, or laws. . The reason I believe that conformity is a common element in both Emerson s Self Reliance and Gladwell s Outliers is because in Self Reliance, Emerson believed that to be self reliant, you must avoid conformity. Gladwell agrees with this in chapter 8 of Outliers, where he states that we tend to conform to rules based off of where we are from and how we were raised. This chapter was a perfect example because of how all those children were raised. As stated previously, a big key factor in Self Reliance was the concept that Emerson truly didn t want others to follow conformity. He wanted people to remain true to themselves due to the fact that it follows along with the essence of the Universal Spirit. To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, that is genius (Emerson, 19). After Emerson discusses conformity, he delves into the discussion of innocence and infants. He discusses this as a nod to nonconformity. Infancy conforms to nobody: all conform to it, so that the babe commonly makes four or five out of the adults who prattle and play to it (Emerson, 20). In a whole, Emerson s Self Reliance was more or less

At a stroke, the American government closed down the fifth largest industry in the United States alcohol production and just handed it to criminals a pretty remarkable thing to do (Bill Bryson). The twenties was a fast paced fun, loving time, the one problem was no alcohol. With the twenties came the rise of jazz, flappers, different fashions, and prohibition. Jazz, flappers, and different fashions made life enjoyable but, prohibition caused the rise of criminals, who saw the demand for alcohol, and the opportunity to make money, by selling it to average people, along with government officials. Noteworthy criminals helped define the roaring twenties by helping everyday citizens break the law. To understand how this defined the decade, it is important to explore how gangsters provided alcohol to citizens, bribed police and government officials, and made criminals popular. Prohibition was a law passed whereby the manufacture, sale and transportation of alcohol was illegal, this gave gangsters and average citizens the opportunity to make easy money, if they did not get caught. The most noteworthy criminal during this time was Al Capone, in Chicago, he bribed government officials, ran bootlegging rackets, prostitution, and gambling dens. Al Capone didn t become a criminal overnight, at a young age he dropped out of school and was welcomed into the local
  • 47. Japan s Foreign Policy During The End Of The Twentieth... In the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Japan was a strong militaristic country that held a strong power and influence in the Asia Pacific region. It was an expansionist and strong imperialist nation similar as the Western colonizers such as England, the Dutch, Russia, France and Germany. The Japanese empire extended from the Dutch East Indies in the south to Manchuria in the north before the country surrendered on September 1945 to the Allies. The Allied Power led by General Douglas MacArthur had occupied Japan for several years before it was fully liberated in 1952. After the occupation, Japan s foreign policy was given back to its government. The country took the opportunity given to repair its relations with its neighbours. Some historians claimed that the reconciliation period was successful through several treaties agreed upon the East Asian countries in the 1960s. However, it was different side of the story when the issue was asked to the Japanese former colonies. A lot of its people will claim that they could not forget what the Empire of Japanhad done to them. Hence, it would be wise to ask how does Japan war history would affect its relations with its East Asia neighbours? This paper will explain the two most significant impacts that the aggressive Empire of Japan history affects its connections with its neighbours. History has caused the reconciliation process between the countries to be delayed and continues frictions between them to occur.

Identity in the Works of Eavan Boland and Seamus Heaney Many times poetry is reflective of the author s past as well as their personal struggles. One struggle that poets write about is of identity and the creation, as well as loss, of individual identities. Using a passage from the essay Lava Cameo by Eavan Boland, I will show how two poets use their craft to describe their struggle with identity. Eavan Boland and Seamus Heaney both write poems which express an internal struggle with roles of identity and how they recreate their roles to fit their needs. Through retrospection and reflection, both poets come to realize that the roles they led as well as those they reinvented have created their own personal identities. Boland, in her ... Boland states that in poetry women were used as ...metaphors and invocations, similes and muses. Boland s experiences as a woman do not fit into the traditional poems that men had written. Due to this, she felt an internal struggle when trying to master her craft between her role as a woman and the role of women observed in traditional poetry. Boland would practice her craft and write line after line expressing her mind as a human being. In the end however, she found it inescapable that her life as a woman would become the ultimate object of the poetry. She found that as much as she tried to express her perceptions in her poetry she could not find an identity independent of a man s identity. Poetry as a craft was molded in the perceptions of men. Women lacked an identity, without which the female perceptions are unidentifiable. The craft of

Aceves OPERATION ANACONDA: JOINT OPERATION PLANNING ERRORS Joint Operations After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, the United States (US) declared a global war on terrorism. Afghanistan was the first battleground with Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; US forces engaged enemy combatants in effort to deter, isolate and destroy, terrorist networks. In the early stages, unified land operations consisted mostly of special operation forces (SOF) with support of the US Airforce, US Navy, allies and Afghan Security Forces (ASF). This early collation was a joint effort that proved successful during the early phases of the operation. Engagement of enemy forces successfully deterred their operational capabilities and efforts that pushed enemy forces into Shahi Kot Valley. This concentration of enemy forces in Shahi Kot Valley fostered the development of Operation ANACONDA, a joint, interagency, intergovernmental, multinational (JIIM) operation. The joint operations planning process (JOPP), employed during the operational design failed to achieve the desired combat power necessary for successful shaping operations and decisive action.
