Barak Lost Link With The Natural World
During a world literature class, we watched a film called Baraka, which was cinematically beautiful
and restored within me this lost link with the natural world. It was a compilation of footage of people
and places all over the world, spliced together to form this story of the lives we lead in this modern
world. The film juxtaposed the hectic environment of the machinery that drives the mass production
of consumer goods with footage of serene Japanese snow monkeys relaxing in hot spring baths. This
to me represented how unnatural the world filled with technology and mass consumption in which we
live really is and how it fares poorly when compared with the natural world. It caught my eye that too
often as human beings we are caught up in the motions of life. As I was watching, I was undergoing a
self realization that we forget that we have some other purpose in life besides our monotonous
routines. We aren t just some specks under the sprawling skyscrapers and cities, we must retain our
bond with nature.
Baraka presented these subliminal images that I could easily develop into connections to my life. The
film illustrated the being of nature that exists around us and how indiscreetly we human beings are
becoming forgetful of it. Images of parents driving their children in different countries to school, to
me was a metaphor of delivering them to this promised future of success. In the film this was
juxtaposed to a scene where an innocent child confined to poverty is looking

North-South Vs Ldcs
The rivalry of the North South really is a comparison of developed countries versus undeveloped
countries. Countries and states in the Northern Hemisphere generally contain societies that are much
more advanced technologically, economically, socially, and politically than their Southern hemisphere
counter parts.
Northern societies have the advantages derived from coalescing indigenous groups into autocratic
societies over that past 500 years. This allowed them to dedicate a large amount of resources to meet
the needs of each society. As they used technology to improve their lifestyle, they were able to trade
with each other for both goods, services and knowledge. This transference of knowledge between each
other is what led to a huge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for the LDCs to start to compete with the EDCs it would require a good amount of money in
order to implement some of the technology and advances that would help them to be more developed.
Because they don t have the money and resources to do so, they are unable to harvest their own land
and develop it with their own people. An additional disadvantage they have when compared to the
EDCs is their lack of education and communication skills. When comparing they two sides, the South
and LDCs have just as many different native languages (if not more) than the North does. The issue
being they cannot communicate with a common language and some of their languages are arguably
more difficult, especially with all the different dialects within their own languages with the Latin

Cornelius Vanderbilt Essay
The want for wealth saturates everyone s mind at one point or another. Almost everyone dreams of
having the large mansion near the beach, the multiple cars, etc., but this money does not just come, it
either has to be inherited or earned. During the 1800s, most wealth was inherited, but there were a few
self made men that worked their way from the bottom to the top in order to become wealthy. One man
in particular influenced wealthy men to come like Andrew Carnegie and Rockefeller. He was able to
begin many of the ideas brought about during the Gilded Age because not only was he a major
influence in society, but he greatly changed the economy and the industries he was involved in during
that time. Lastly, he modernized commerce for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vanderbilt was the first businessman in America to try to monopolize other businesses by creating
lower prices. This enabled him to become wealthy because the lower his prices went the more
customers he gained. Once other companies found that they could also lower their prices, it added
more competition for Vanderbilt, so he had to begin to create trusts. During the Gold Rush in
California, many people went by sea to go from the East Coast to the West Coast. At the time
Vanderbilt had the lowest prices and he was putting many other steamboat companies out of business;
so The Steamboat Association threw in the towel and bought him out. For $100,000 and an annual
payment of $5,000 for ten years, Vanderbilt agreed to withdraw from the Hudson River market. 2 By
making other steamboat companies pay him rent to stay out of the industry, he was still becoming
extremely wealthy without having to do any work. Even though Vanderbilt was extremely wealthy, he
was very cautions with his money and only spent it when he knew something was a strong investment
that would get him more powerful. During the Gold Rush, the other steamboat industries used the

The Pursuit Of Happiness By Malcolm Muggeridge Essay
Govind Gharmalkar
Period 04: Ap English 3
15 April 2016
Mrs.Yosh
American Values The British journalist, Malcolm Muggeridge, defined Americans as The pursuit of
happiness, which American citizens are obliged to undertake, tends to involve them in trying to
perpetuate the moods, tastes and aptitudes of youth. Happiness, which every human wants, is the
fundamental underlying quality by which America has built itself upon, proclaiming freedom, equality
and the opportunity to those who seek a better life. Muggeridge suggests an American citizen meant to
be in the pursuit of happiness. However, American citizens who were inclined to find happiness,
pursue wealth, acceptance, and image hoping that it will preserve youthfulness. In reality, Americans
pursuit of happiness turns into a search for youthfulness, in which qualities of the youth are often
sought after. In The Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald portrays a man s pursuit of his dreams and
happiness. Early in his life, Jay Gatsby realizes that with hard work, self improvement, and an
education, he can achieve his desires, like most Americans today. Like Gatsby, who saw the wealth of
Dan Cody as a thing that brings happiness, Americans today look around and still associate money
with happiness. Similar to Gatsby, who was willing to bootleg, lie, and work, Americans find
themselves chasing wealth for its ability to perpetuate youthfulness. However, most

Analysis Of If Black English IsnT A Language Then Tell Me...
James Baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, and poet. In the essay If Black English
Isn t a language, then tell me what is? James Baldwin asserts an argument as how Language is like the
ID of people, it can identify, as well as define people. Due to the characteristics it has, it can be
defined as a persuasive essay. It attempts to persuade the readers to be on the writer s side, or accept
the point of view of the author. This significant essay was written in the 1970s. It indicates how
language is not merely used for communication, but can be used to classify people with different
social backgrounds and class. Baldwin used examples like how people in England talk make sense to
their own people and not everyone else. He used this example to illustrate his thought of why Black
English is not recognized as a real language. In addition, he thought that the white man never meant to
teach the Blacks English. That is also the reason why he thinks black children are lost, and can t be
taught by people who despise them. The inability of the salves to interact with each other made them
create black English. Which was their own means of communication. Baldwin s article has a lot to say
about the impact that language has on African American people and his positive approach is supported
with strong historical events, and the author s anger behind this writing makes it stronger. However,
the assumption about education makes the article weak, because it is not well

Thanks To Personal Computing Developing Into A Revolutionary
Thanks to personal computing developing into a revolutionary innovation in the early 1970s, 3D
printing was made possible in the late 1980 s. 3D printing technology was at one point only available
for the business elites because of its high cost and limited production by few companies. This
technology in the the late 1980s began as a new additive manufacturing, changing and speeding up
what use to be subtractive manufacturing. Subtractive manufacturing relied on tooling and assembly
lines since it began, 3D printing however made it possible for companies to fabricate prototypes on
demand. However 3D printing is no longer limited to manufacturing, but has developed into various
categories as printer cost continue to go down, making it more ... Show more content on

Stephanie Crawford says SLA Printers work by a focused beam of UV rays on the surface of the
object to be recreated. The CAD designed object is filled with what s called resin (photopolymer).
When the light hits the resin, the liquid hardens to form a high resolution 3D model of the object that
you designed. Hull, a few years later co found 3D Systems Corporation, one of the first companies to
sell a high end 3D printer and still is one of the leading companies with this technology today. Charles
Hull s first RP system, the SLA 1, was revealed in 1987 and quickly followed ongoing testing until
this system was sold in 1988. As always after new technology is discovered, there is always new
competition, in 1987, Carl Deckard, who at the time was working for University of Texas, filed a
patent in the US for the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). SLS method is somewhat similar to
stereolithography (SLA) but instead of using liquid resin, you can use powdered material in the
instead. SLS made it possible to use a variety of materials ceramics, nylon, aluminum, glass and steel
or silver. In 1989 another new Printing process was invented by Scott Crump, he too co found a
leading company today Stratasys Inc. Scotts process was called Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM).
This process is what is widely used by beginners in 3D printing do to its easy refillable and cheap
material. FDM works by melted thermoplastic materials joined together in

Fungus Essay
Fungus
The Latin word for mushroom is fungus (plural, fungi). The word fungus has come to stand for a
whole group of simple plants that contain no chlorophyll and lack such complex plant structures as
roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Included among the fungi, along with mushrooms, are molds,
mildews, rusts, smuts, truffles, and yeasts. Toadstool is another name for mushroom. Some people use
the name toadstool only when referring to poisonous mushrooms, but botanists make no such
distinction. A general scientific term for fungi is mycota, from the Greek word for mushroom, mykes,
and the study of these organisms is called mycology.
Because they lack chlorophyll, fungi are unable to manufacture food out of the raw materials around

Only a small portion of those that live on land is normally visible. Most of the fungus, a complex
network of hyphae, grows underground, near the surface. The visible parts of fungi vary greatly in
size. Some are so tiny that they cannot be seen without the aid of magnification. Others are quite large.
Some mushrooms reach diameters of 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 centimeters) and heights of 10 to 12
inches (25 to 30 centimeters). Bracket fungi that are 15 inches (38 centimeters) in diameter are fairly
common; and mushrooms called puffballs have been known to grow to 60 inches (152 centimeters) in
diameter.
Although fungi are distributed worldwide, the distribution of a specific species is limited by
temperature and moisture conditions of an area coupled with the available food supply. The best
temperature for most fungi to thrive is from 68° to 86°F (20° to 30°C). Some types of fungi, however,
do perfectly well at tem peratures as high as 120°F (48°C), while a fairly large number of them do
well at freezing temperatures, 32°F (0°C) or below.
The reproduction of fungi can be either sexual or asexual. Sexual reproduction, as with other
organisms, involves the fusion of two nuclei when two sex cells unite. This joining produces spores
that can grow into new organisms. Asexual reproduction is by fragmentation, cell division, or
budding. The simplest process is direct fragmentation, or breaking up, of the fungus body, the thallus.

Christian Fellowship Have Heard Of Evangelism Essay
Many within the Christian fellowship have heard of evangelism. Nevertheless, it is not at all surprising
that many aren t quite familiar with the true definition of the term. Furthermore, there are many
Christians whom would consider themselves to be faithful and committed followers of Christ who
obey and believe the Word of God with a testimony that reveals that they are being the best servant
that he or she can be towards the risen Savior. Often times, Christians lead their lives without much
consideration about sharing the gospel with anyone other than their immediate family members or
close friends. Event then, Christians aren t too sure of what they should say or how it should be said.
Christians have become extremely sensitive of not offending another individual when it comes to the
gospel of Jesus Christ. It is often considered that evangelism is the responsibility of the senior pastor
and staff ministers. Sometimes our problem may be any one of a long list of excuses. Perhaps we don t
know the gospel well enough or we don t think we do. Maybe we think it s someone else s job, the
work of a minister or a missionary (Dever, 2007, p. 16).
Dever asks the question, What is the gospel (Dever, 2007, p. 31)? For Christians who have been saved
for any good length of time, the gospel is commonly known as the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ
being full of love and compassion, who was born to a virgin mother in a manger who came to save a
dying world from their

Comparing Romeo Montague And Gnomeo Blueberry
It s very surprising how much a character of a famous love story and a gnome can have in common.
Especially when you take the fact that the gnome is suppose to be a parody of the human. What is
being said here is that despite not being alike, they are still an alternate universe versions of Romeo
Montague. Well, one of them is Romeo Montague, so it cancels out.
There are big differences between Romeo Montague and Gnomeo Blueberry, such as where their story
takes place, love for their universe s respective Juliet, and their behaviours.
Romeo Montague is a believer, who was already struggling the loss of not being able to get with a first
girl when Juliet Capulet made her appearance. They shared their story in the city of Verona, Italy, in
around the 1300 s. The garden gnome held their story what appeared to be the ... Show more content

opposing sides. When Romeo first met juliet, they flirted and kissed non stop until they were forced

known as the TERRAFIRMINATOR, which happens to be a tractor that destroyed both sides of the

juliet was in. It resulted in him and her living, but it was still an act of goodwill that could have
resulted in the conscious sacrifice of his well being. The literal definition of a hero. When Romeo s

Ford Model T Essay
The ford Model T was the first car mass produced in the U.S during the early 1900 s. The Model T
had a 4 cylinder 20 horsepower engine that could reach speeds of about 40 miles an hour. They come
in different colors, but they were mostly produced in black. They were relativley simple, and reliable
cars. It changed the factor of automobiles and transportation because people went from horse and
buggy to full out automobiles. Henry ford was the first person in the U.S to use what s called the
assembly line and it worked well to his advantage. The ford model t production line and other
competing motor companies are different as ford had a different way of of building cars using
assembly lines, while other companies did not use this method. The inventor of the Ford Model T,
Henry ford, Produced the first ever model t on October 1st, 1908. On this date, henry did not realize
how well business was going to be for him. From this date, until May 26, 1927 Henry ford produced
over 15,000,000 model Ts, which was unheard of at the time. Because of the method of creating these
vehicles, called the assembly line that you see today, he was able to ramp up production and sucess.
The assembly line didn t start until 1913, when Henry soon realized he needed to turn more of a profit.

demand to around 300$. Ford s Motive was that he wanted to build cars his workers could

Due to increased distribution of XML in cloud computing, the demand for strong and active safety
mechanism on XML signature enlarged as well. A dangerous possible risk for cloud computing
security is the XML signature. XML Signature is a method, which is used to deliver consistency,
integrity and message confirmation, for various types of data. An XML signature would describe a
sequence of XML elements that could be inserted in, or otherwise link with, any XML file. It would
allow the receiver to confirm that the message has not been altered from what the sender planned.

1.3 Metadata Spoofing Attack
In this type of attack, an opponent alters or changes the service s Web Services Description Language
file where explanations about service examples are stored. If the opponent succeeds to interrupt
service request code from WSDL file at distributing time, then this attack can be possible. Since
Metadata documents are distributed using communication procedures like HTTP or e mail they are
expected to open the options of spoofing attacks. It is likely for attackers to maliciously modify the
content of the WSDL file and allocate them across all the Web service clients. This has serious costs
and security effects.
To overcome such an attack, information about services and applications should be kept in encrypted
form. Strong authentication (and authorization) should be enforced for accessing such critical in

2.1 What are NoSQL Databases
NoSQL databases are databases designed to run on clusters of computers/servers, built for the ever
increasing data storage needs for websites. Devised as a way of scaling databases horizontally which
is a challenge with traditional relational databases. Scaling horizontally is the ability to add more
computers/servers as nodes to a database. These clusters work well with write heavy systems and
allow increase storage and processing power limited only by the number of connections you can have
on the network. Defined as No Schema, No SQL data structures mean they are not limited to the
original data structure. Objects and fields etc can be implemented at

Drunk Driving And Driving
Throughout the United States, drunk driving is responsible for 28 deaths per day and nearly 10,000
deaths per year. In some states like Utah, there is a push to lower the legal intoxication limit from 0.08
BAC to 0.05 BAC. In Massachusetts, there is a push to get ignition interlock devices into cars to
prevent people that are under the influence of alcohol from getting behind the wheel. Combining these
two aspects to clamp down on drunk driving would be considered strict enforcement of laws. There
are many people that are in full support of this reduction and the use of the ignition interlock systems.
However, there are people that are trying to make a stand against these topics. Lowering the legal
intoxication limit and increasing the use of ignition interlock systems will create a safer environment
for society by saving lives, reducing crime, and increasing overall traffic safety.
Most consumers of alcohol are unaware to the effects of driving after ingesting alcohol into their
systems. Driving impaired is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Thats due
to the driver being impaired. To be considered an ¨impaired driver¨, a person must have a blood
alcohol content of 0.08 or higher. Experts say that even at 0.08 BAC, drivers are too impaired to get
behind the wheel. The parts of the body that are affected the most by alcohol are cognitive
recognition, coordination, speech, and vision. With reduced recognition and coordination, blurred

and reduced cost and have a presence in the internet world through website and web application. Over
the last two decades, static websites that only contain information has evolved into dynamic web sites

developed and deployed to provide immediate services and increase the customer base through means
of world wide web. Tasks like accepting user details and storing/retrieving from database are evolving
according to business need to grow. As new and powerful HTML tags, scripting functions,
asynchronous JavaScript and XML(AJAX) technologies help web development to produce versatile
web application, vulnerabilities and shortcomings are exploited by hackers to compromise both

Hydraulic Fracking In Oklahoma
Oklahoma, the center of what your local meteorologist might call Tornado Alley experiences on
average forty seven twisters per year; however, surprising or not, tornados are no longer the leading
climate related disturbance throughout the state. In fact, since 2008 it has become eighty percent more
likely to experience an earthquake rather than a tornado in the sooner state. Hydraulic oil fracturing is
the cause of all these relatively new reoccurring earthquakes. Hydraulic fracturing or fracking is
pumping millions of gallons of wastewater deep into the earth s crust in order to release and extract oil

Effects Of Parental Investment On Children
Parental investment includes any investment by the parent in an individual offspring that increases the
offspring s chances of survival, at the cost of the parent s ability to invest in other offspring (Travier,
1972). Since investing on themselves is as important as investing on their children, parents have to
choose between caring for a child and acquiring the resources needed to insure their own productive
and reproductive successes (Turner McAndrew, 2006). This choice can be influenced by the social,
cultural and economic factors at household level, and by socio demographic factors at individual level.
These factors may vary from culture to culture and overtime. However, the following variables are the
most frequently cited determinants of parental investment on children.
i) Gender; the gender of the parent is the most widely reported determinant of parent`s willingness to
invest on children. This is mentioned across disciplines, from biology through social anthropology,
with similar conclusions but different explanations. There is consensus that the gender identity of the
parent through which income is received determines how the resources are invested on child welfare.
Studies (Agarwal, 1997; Kabeer, 2000) indicated that income injected into the household through the
mother do more justice to the welfare of children compared to resources injected through the father.
Similarly, an exogenous increase in mothers income has a larger effect on children`s outcomes than

A Rose For Emily Rhyme Scheme
The poem consists of 3 stanzas and each stanza has 4 lines. In the first stanza, she writes about how
she has a desire to love and have a romantic relationship with someone. Emily also writes that Wild
nights should be our luxury . She writes should be which tells the reader that something is holding her
back from her desire to love and have a romantic relationship. In the second stanza, she writes futile
the winds, to a heart is a port which tells the reader that the winds that were holding back their
romantic desires are now pointless and ineffective and that her heart is now open, and her lover has
reached her. Then Emily writes Done with the compass, done with the chart because her lover is now

Essay Comparing Chickamauga And To Paint A Water Lily
In the short story Chickamauga and the poem To paint a water lily there are many similarities to be
found. In Chickamauga, Ambrose Bierce tells a tale of a young boy living in the south during the Civil
War. The boy goes out to explore the woods and through a series of traumatic events discovers the
painful realizations of what the so called real world entails. Like in Chickamauga , To Paint a Water
Lily also depicts two different worlds. Ted Hughes mentions how most people generally perceive a
pond, and then how one would perceive it after studying it immensely. You learn that the life of a
water lily is not beautiful and calm, but rather the opposite. Both of these narratives dive into the
importance of looking more closely at your reality to see what it really is rather than what you think it
may be. Looking closely at Chickamauga, there are many times throughout the story when the boy
completely misunderstands what is actually happening to him. Starting with an example found in the
fourth paragraph, it states Advancing from the bank of the creek he suddenly found himself confronted
with a new and more formidable enemy: in the path that he was following, sat, bolt upright, with ears
erect and paws suspended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It understands that its life is somewhat at stake living in the pond. It knows that there are creatures
above and below him that could very easily, even by accident, end its life. To most of humanity we
only see the water lily s life as a tranquil idea. A nice plant that lives in a peaceful state, when in
actuality it is constantly thinking about when it is going to die. The boy in Chickamauga does not
realize that his situation is actually a dangerous one. He lives in a state of blissfulness. He should be
able to put together the fact that people are dying all around him and that something is wrong, but is
not able to do

Essay about Depression and Anxiety in Persons with...
Depression and Anxiety in Persons with Divorced Parents In the recent years, divorce rates have been
continually trending upwards (Reiter, Hjorleifsson, Breidablik, Meland, 2013). It is factual that
children who have parents that have divorced typically face more obstacles in numerous aspects of life
than children who have married parents. Children that experience divorce have up to a 300% increase
in probability to be impacted by issues in mental wellbeing than their peers without an incident of
divorce in their parental structure (Shifflett Cummings, 1999). These issues can arise due to the
various conflicts that may come into play throughout the divorce process, or even the mere experience
of parental divorce for the child. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether moderate or severe, divorce serves long term contributions to depression and anxiety in
children regardless of age (Chase Lansdale, Cherlin, Kiernan, 1995).
Mental and Emotional Adjustment in Divorce with Age Numerous factors come into play pertaining to
the age of a child that undergoes the experience of parental divorce. As time passes, most research
states that both anxiety and depression impact children of divorce rather steadily. However, even after
adjusting, these emotional impacts are extremely consistent throughout the progression of life
(Størksen et al., 2005). Due to the inability to cognitively process and identify reasons that lead to
divorce, kids around the pre kindergarten age range are naïve to the situation. Around this age,
children depend on parental support in daily life to carry out tasks. This alteration of family structure
will impact smaller children more than older children, as the older child will have more outlets to
channel their mental tension (Reiter et al., 2013). According to data, children may not adjust well
emotionally and display bouts of anxiety, which may develop into depression at later ages (Kline,

Evolution Of Database Management Systems
EVOLUTION OF DBMS
1.INTRODUCTION
As technology is rapidly emerging and changing, organizations are quickly adapting to it, and with
this technology and software advancement includes database management systems. Database
management systems have become a crucial tool in every organization. It will be rather more
surprising to see a company not using DBMS in this age. As organizations emerge and grow by years,
they have numerous data sets to handle and database management systems is a software application
which helps organizations perform this mundane task easily. It collects, organizes the databases and
also stores and performs functions on the databases making it easier for users to access. Now days, an
organization wouldn t survive without data and information. The way this data is important for an
organization, to manage this data is equally important. Database management systems has become a
part of every field right from schools, libraries, medical centers, airlines, chemical plants etcetera.
With the effective use of database management systems software in organizations, it comes with
advantages and disadvantages which will be later explained in the findings section of this paper.
The research would concentrate more on how database management system applications have
progressed since the past decade. The research objective is to study the evolution of DBMS and learn
about the emerging alternative applications for this traditional system. The positive and negative

Kane in size on the podium. The poster is a picture of Kane with a serious look on his face. The poster
and Kane have a direct relation because the poster is a just reflection of his true intentions and

The American Revolution raised to fight the lower classes , small artisans having no property and the
poor farmers, who formed the significant colonial population group. The lower classes in particular
were the main driving force of the revolution being hostile towards the gentlemen, who held
administrative positions. The primary issue that was changed by the Revolution was the overall
freedom. The concepts are the most valuable for the society and its sustainable development.
Nevertheless, despite the fact that independence was the primary aim, the liberation struggle was
combined with the movement for social reforms, economic reforms and elimination of the old order in

Securitization Of Housing Bets
Mortgage backed securities were bonds that were secured by home and other real estate loans. They
were created when a number of these loans, usually with similar characteristics, were pooled together.
As part of the housing and credit booms, the amount of financial agreements called mortgage backed
securities, which derive their value from mortgage payments and housing prices, greatly increased
(Subprime mortgage crisis). Pools of loans were sold to federal government agencies like Ginnie Mae
or a government sponsored enterprise such as Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Securitization was the
process of taking an illiquid asset, or group of assets, and through financial engineering, transforming
them into a security. A typical example of securitization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The worst of the mortgages were packaged and tranche into bonds and got rated AAA by these credit
rating agencies. By erroneously rating these bundles of mortgage backed security payments too highly,
the credit rating agencies substantially contributed to the creation of toxic financial assets. The
problem was each agency were competing for the banks revenue, to keep the banks business the
agencies would always rate their bonds the highest possible grade of AAA.
Executives at Fannie Mae packaged both conventional and sub prime loans, while operating almost
free of government oversight. Fannie s leaders spent lavishly to hire sixty Washington lobbyists who
showered congressmen with campaign funds. Executives at Fannie were generous to the politicians
because they wanted to ward off regulation (Toplin). Adding another layer to this financial disaster
happened when the Treasury bill rate went so low investors had to find other ways to yield a profit,
and with little oversight, executives certainly had no problem introducing creative financing to main
street America.
Mortgage underwriting standards declined precipitously during the boom

Beltane Research Paper
Beltane is the season on the ancient Celtic calendar that marks the beginning of the light half of the
year. The season comes between May 1 and June 21. During this season, there is Gaelic festival,
Samhain that marks the beginning of the winter and the end of the harvest season. Samhain represents
another powerful moment for future divining, as there is a thin barrier between the spirit and reality
worlds. According to the Celtic people, Beltane marks the time of sacred alchemical marriage between
god Bael, their solar father and goddess Danu, their earth mother. Moreover, the marriage and the
intercourse of Bael, the solar father and Danu the earth mother is symbolized by the performance of
the Maypole dance during this season. Therefore, we celebrate our earthly parents and their
intercourse that created us during this time of the year. This is a special moment to celebrate fertility
and mating all over the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a season similar to Samhain as the doorways between worlds are wide open. Moreover,
children conceived during orgiastic rituals on Beltane were believed to have the divine energies of the

and Danu are represented in Beltane rituals by always incorporating the crowning of a May Queen and
May King. Therefore, this season marks the most favorable moment for engagements and marriages.
Symbols and Energies for the Season of Beltane Beltane is a season that is associated with a number
of symbols and energies such as the fire, southeast direction and the summer season. The serpent and a

I have to assume that the skulls that were closest to walking on four legs lived in environments with a
lot of trees and high grounds. That being said, now I have to assume that our ancestors eventually
found it easier to live in long plains and migrated which made them lose the need to be efficient on all
fours, thus leading to bipedalism.
Conclusion:
My hypothesis is was not supported since there was not a single organism that walked on four legs
according to my data. I realized that just the general shape and condition of the skull didn t correlate
with how old it was, but the cranial capacity was the major determining factor. Every time humans
evolved the need for their mental capacity increased and that s evident in the skulls: the oldest having
the smallest cranial capacity, the most recent having the largest cranial capacity. I also want to say that
according to my data, our ancestors didn t all just start walking on two legs one day, but the need to
walk on two legs wasn t there for a couple of our ancestors which is why some are so close to not
being able to walk on two legs at all. That leads me to say that bipedalism was not dependant on when
an organism was alive but where an organism was alive. As for prognathism, I also believe that

Persuasive Essay On Human Sex Trafficking
Human sex trafficking is a worldwide problem and continues to grow nationwide. Human Trafficking
is todays form of slavery. Sex trafficking is when someone is forced, through violence or threats to
engage in commercial sex against their will. Sex trafficking happens because the traffickers can
actually make money by selling their victims and forcing them into exploitation. Human trafficking is
the modern day slavery, has many different methods, and needs to be recognized as a problem near
our own hometowns so we can try our hardest to stop this nationwide problem. Human trafficking is a
very organized crime. Traffickers take their victims from one country to another and force them into
exploitation. There are many different methods and tactics used by traffickers to exploit their victims.
According to Hannah Spruce the first method is commonly referred to as the Loverboy Tactic. This is
when someone seduces another person romantically to force them into prostitution. Lover boys form
romantic relationships with their victims, they aim to isolate the victim from their friends and family
making it easier to get them to move across the country. Another method that traffickers use is false
job advertisements. Traffickers will post job opportunities in the newspaper. Poor countries are usually
targeted because citizens are looking for a way to make a living elsewhere. These people will pay for
their own transportation and when they arrive to the other country will be abused (Spruce). Although
there are many different methods of human sex trafficking, these are a couple of the most commonly
used. Even though we might not think human sex trafficking is happening near us, it most likely is.
Many people think this only happens in undeveloped and poor third world countries, but that is not the
case at all. There have actually been several cases of human sex trafficking in Nebraska in the last
year. In just May of 2017 a man in Douglas county was arrested and found guilty for forcing two
women into prostitution, ages 15 and 21. Back in 2013 a mother was sentenced to 80 years in prison
for trafficking her own kids to her boyfriend and other people she met online.
Sex trafficking is a crime that can be happening

  • 2. Barak Lost Link With The Natural World During a world literature class, we watched a film called Baraka, which was cinematically beautiful and restored within me this lost link with the natural world. It was a compilation of footage of people and places all over the world, spliced together to form this story of the lives we lead in this modern world. The film juxtaposed the hectic environment of the machinery that drives the mass production of consumer goods with footage of serene Japanese snow monkeys relaxing in hot spring baths. This to me represented how unnatural the world filled with technology and mass consumption in which we live really is and how it fares poorly when compared with the natural world. It caught my eye that too often as human beings we are caught up in the motions of life. As I was watching, I was undergoing a self realization that we forget that we have some other purpose in life besides our monotonous routines. We aren t just some specks under the sprawling skyscrapers and cities, we must retain our bond with nature. Baraka presented these subliminal images that I could easily develop into connections to my life. The film illustrated the being of nature that exists around us and how indiscreetly we human beings are becoming forgetful of it. Images of parents driving their children in different countries to school, to me was a metaphor of delivering them to this promised future of success. In the film this was juxtaposed to a scene where an innocent child confined to poverty is looking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. North-South Vs Ldcs The rivalry of the North South really is a comparison of developed countries versus undeveloped countries. Countries and states in the Northern Hemisphere generally contain societies that are much more advanced technologically, economically, socially, and politically than their Southern hemisphere counter parts. Northern societies have the advantages derived from coalescing indigenous groups into autocratic societies over that past 500 years. This allowed them to dedicate a large amount of resources to meet the needs of each society. As they used technology to improve their lifestyle, they were able to trade with each other for both goods, services and knowledge. This transference of knowledge between each other is what led to a huge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for the LDCs to start to compete with the EDCs it would require a good amount of money in order to implement some of the technology and advances that would help them to be more developed. Because they don t have the money and resources to do so, they are unable to harvest their own land and develop it with their own people. An additional disadvantage they have when compared to the EDCs is their lack of education and communication skills. When comparing they two sides, the South and LDCs have just as many different native languages (if not more) than the North does. The issue being they cannot communicate with a common language and some of their languages are arguably more difficult, especially with all the different dialects within their own languages with the Latin American, African, and Asian ... • 5. Cornelius Vanderbilt Essay The want for wealth saturates everyone s mind at one point or another. Almost everyone dreams of having the large mansion near the beach, the multiple cars, etc., but this money does not just come, it either has to be inherited or earned. During the 1800s, most wealth was inherited, but there were a few self made men that worked their way from the bottom to the top in order to become wealthy. One man in particular influenced wealthy men to come like Andrew Carnegie and Rockefeller. He was able to begin many of the ideas brought about during the Gilded Age because not only was he a major influence in society, but he greatly changed the economy and the industries he was involved in during that time. Lastly, he modernized commerce for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vanderbilt was the first businessman in America to try to monopolize other businesses by creating lower prices. This enabled him to become wealthy because the lower his prices went the more customers he gained. Once other companies found that they could also lower their prices, it added more competition for Vanderbilt, so he had to begin to create trusts. During the Gold Rush in California, many people went by sea to go from the East Coast to the West Coast. At the time Vanderbilt had the lowest prices and he was putting many other steamboat companies out of business; so The Steamboat Association threw in the towel and bought him out. For $100,000 and an annual payment of $5,000 for ten years, Vanderbilt agreed to withdraw from the Hudson River market. 2 By making other steamboat companies pay him rent to stay out of the industry, he was still becoming extremely wealthy without having to do any work. Even though Vanderbilt was extremely wealthy, he was very cautions with his money and only spent it when he knew something was a strong investment that would get him more powerful. • 6. The Pursuit Of Happiness By Malcolm Muggeridge Essay Govind Gharmalkar Period 04: Ap English 3 15 April 2016 Mrs.Yosh American Values The British journalist, Malcolm Muggeridge, defined Americans as The pursuit of happiness, which American citizens are obliged to undertake, tends to involve them in trying to perpetuate the moods, tastes and aptitudes of youth. Happiness, which every human wants, is the fundamental underlying quality by which America has built itself upon, proclaiming freedom, equality and the opportunity to those who seek a better life. Muggeridge suggests an American citizen meant to be in the pursuit of happiness. However, American citizens who were inclined to find happiness, pursue wealth, acceptance, and image hoping that it will preserve youthfulness. In reality, Americans pursuit of happiness turns into a search for youthfulness, in which qualities of the youth are often sought after. In The Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald portrays a man s pursuit of his dreams and happiness. Early in his life, Jay Gatsby realizes that with hard work, self improvement, and an education, he can achieve his desires, like most Americans today. Like Gatsby, who saw the wealth of Dan Cody as a thing that brings happiness, Americans today look around and still associate money with happiness. Similar to Gatsby, who was willing to bootleg, lie, and work, Americans find themselves chasing wealth for its ability to perpetuate youthfulness. However, most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of If Black English IsnT A Language Then Tell Me... James Baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, and poet. In the essay If Black English Isn t a language, then tell me what is? James Baldwin asserts an argument as how Language is like the ID of people, it can identify, as well as define people. Due to the characteristics it has, it can be defined as a persuasive essay. It attempts to persuade the readers to be on the writer s side, or accept the point of view of the author. This significant essay was written in the 1970s. It indicates how language is not merely used for communication, but can be used to classify people with different social backgrounds and class. Baldwin used examples like how people in England talk make sense to their own people and not everyone else. He used this example to illustrate his thought of why Black English is not recognized as a real language. In addition, he thought that the white man never meant to teach the Blacks English. That is also the reason why he thinks black children are lost, and can t be taught by people who despise them. The inability of the salves to interact with each other made them create black English. Which was their own means of communication. Baldwin s article has a lot to say about the impact that language has on African American people and his positive approach is supported with strong historical events, and the author s anger behind this writing makes it stronger. However, the assumption about education makes the article weak, because it is not well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Thanks To Personal Computing Developing Into A Revolutionary Thanks to personal computing developing into a revolutionary innovation in the early 1970s, 3D printing was made possible in the late 1980 s. 3D printing technology was at one point only available for the business elites because of its high cost and limited production by few companies. This technology in the the late 1980s began as a new additive manufacturing, changing and speeding up what use to be subtractive manufacturing. Subtractive manufacturing relied on tooling and assembly lines since it began, 3D printing however made it possible for companies to fabricate prototypes on demand. Stephanie Crawford says SLA Printers work by a focused beam of UV rays on the surface of the object to be recreated. The CAD designed object is filled with what s called resin (photopolymer). When the light hits the resin, the liquid hardens to form a high resolution 3D model of the object that you designed. Hull, a few years later co found 3D Systems Corporation, one of the first companies to sell a high end 3D printer and still is one of the leading companies with this technology today. Charles Hull s first RP system, the SLA 1, was revealed in 1987 and quickly followed ongoing testing until this system was sold in 1988. As always after new technology is discovered, there is always new competition, in 1987, Carl Deckard, who at the time was working for University of Texas, filed a patent in the US for the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). SLS method is somewhat similar to stereolithography (SLA) but instead of using liquid resin, you can use powdered material in the instead. SLS made it possible to use a variety of materials ceramics, nylon, aluminum, glass and steel or silver. In 1989 another new Printing process was invented by Scott Crump, he too co found a leading company today Stratasys Inc. Scotts process was called Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM). • 9. Fungus Essay Fungus The Latin word for mushroom is fungus (plural, fungi). The word fungus has come to stand for a whole group of simple plants that contain no chlorophyll and lack such complex plant structures as roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Included among the fungi, along with mushrooms, are molds, mildews, rusts, smuts, truffles, and yeasts. Toadstool is another name for mushroom. Some people use the name toadstool only when referring to poisonous mushrooms, but botanists make no such distinction. Only a small portion of those that live on land is normally visible. Most of the fungus, a complex network of hyphae, grows underground, near the surface. The visible parts of fungi vary greatly in size. Some are so tiny that they cannot be seen without the aid of magnification. Others are quite large. Some mushrooms reach diameters of 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 centimeters) and heights of 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 centimeters). Bracket fungi that are 15 inches (38 centimeters) in diameter are fairly common; and mushrooms called puffballs have been known to grow to 60 inches (152 centimeters) in diameter. Although fungi are distributed worldwide, the distribution of a specific species is limited by temperature and moisture conditions of an area coupled with the available food supply. The best temperature for most fungi to thrive is from 68° to 86°F (20° to 30°C). Some types of fungi, however, do perfectly well at tem peratures as high as 120°F (48°C), while a fairly large number of them do well at freezing temperatures, 32°F (0°C) or below. The reproduction of fungi can be either sexual or asexual. Sexual reproduction, as with other organisms, involves the fusion of two nuclei when two sex cells unite. This joining produces spores that can grow into new organisms. Asexual reproduction is by fragmentation, cell division, or budding. The simplest process is direct fragmentation, or breaking up, of the fungus body, the thallus. Each of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Christian Fellowship Have Heard Of Evangelism Essay Many within the Christian fellowship have heard of evangelism. Nevertheless, it is not at all surprising that many aren t quite familiar with the true definition of the term. Furthermore, there are many Christians whom would consider themselves to be faithful and committed followers of Christ who obey and believe the Word of God with a testimony that reveals that they are being the best servant that he or she can be towards the risen Savior. Often times, Christians lead their lives without much consideration about sharing the gospel with anyone other than their immediate family members or close friends. Event then, Christians aren t too sure of what they should say or how it should be said. Christians have become extremely sensitive of not offending another individual when it comes to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is often considered that evangelism is the responsibility of the senior pastor and staff ministers. Sometimes our problem may be any one of a long list of excuses. Perhaps we don t know the gospel well enough or we don t think we do. Maybe we think it s someone else s job, the work of a minister or a missionary (Dever, 2007, p. 16). Dever asks the question, What is the gospel (Dever, 2007, p. 31)? For Christians who have been saved for any good length of time, the gospel is commonly known as the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ being full of love and compassion, who was born to a virgin mother in a manger who came to save a dying world from their ... • 15. Drunk Driving And Driving Throughout the United States, drunk driving is responsible for 28 deaths per day and nearly 10,000 deaths per year. In some states like Utah, there is a push to lower the legal intoxication limit from 0.08 BAC to 0.05 BAC. In Massachusetts, there is a push to get ignition interlock devices into cars to prevent people that are under the influence of alcohol from getting behind the wheel. Combining these two aspects to clamp down on drunk driving would be considered strict enforcement of laws. There are many people that are in full support of this reduction and the use of the ignition interlock systems. However, there are people that are trying to make a stand against these topics. Lowering the legal intoxication limit and increasing the use of ignition interlock systems will create a safer environment for society by saving lives, reducing crime, and increasing overall traffic safety. Most consumers of alcohol are unaware to the effects of driving after ingesting alcohol into their systems. Driving impaired is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Thats due to the driver being impaired. To be considered an ¨impaired driver¨, a person must have a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher. Experts say that even at 0.08 BAC, drivers are too impaired to get behind the wheel. • 21. Effects Of Parental Investment On Children Parental investment includes any investment by the parent in an individual offspring that increases the offspring s chances of survival, at the cost of the parent s ability to invest in other offspring (Travier, 1972). Since investing on themselves is as important as investing on their children, parents have to choose between caring for a child and acquiring the resources needed to insure their own productive and reproductive successes (Turner McAndrew, 2006). This choice can be influenced by the social, cultural and economic factors at household level, and by socio demographic factors at individual level. These factors may vary from culture to culture and overtime. However, the following variables are the most frequently cited determinants of parental investment on children. i) Gender; the gender of the parent is the most widely reported determinant of parent`s willingness to invest on children. This is mentioned across disciplines, from biology through social anthropology, with similar conclusions but different explanations. There is consensus that the gender identity of the parent through which income is received determines how the resources are invested on child welfare. Studies (Agarwal, 1997; Kabeer, 2000) indicated that income injected into the household through the mother do more justice to the welfare of children compared to resources injected through the father. • 23. Essay Comparing Chickamauga And To Paint A Water Lily In the short story Chickamauga and the poem To paint a water lily there are many similarities to be found. In Chickamauga, Ambrose Bierce tells a tale of a young boy living in the south during the Civil War. The boy goes out to explore the woods and through a series of traumatic events discovers the painful realizations of what the so called real world entails. Like in Chickamauga , To Paint a Water Lily also depicts two different worlds. Ted Hughes mentions how most people generally perceive a pond, and then how one would perceive it after studying it immensely. You learn that the life of a water lily is not beautiful and calm, but rather the opposite. Both of these narratives dive into the importance of looking more closely at your reality to see what it really is rather than what you think it may be. Looking closely at Chickamauga, there are many times throughout the story when the boy completely misunderstands what is actually happening to him. Children that experience divorce have up to a 300% increase in probability to be impacted by issues in mental wellbeing than their peers without an incident of divorce in their parental structure (Shifflett Cummings, 1999). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether moderate or severe, divorce serves long term contributions to depression and anxiety in children regardless of age (Chase Lansdale, Cherlin, Kiernan, 1995). Mental and Emotional Adjustment in Divorce with Age Numerous factors come into play pertaining to the age of a child that undergoes the experience of parental divorce. As time passes, most research states that both anxiety and depression impact children of divorce rather steadily. However, even after adjusting, these emotional impacts are extremely consistent throughout the progression of life (Størksen et al., 2005). Due to the inability to cognitively process and identify reasons that lead to divorce, kids around the pre kindergarten age range are naïve to the situation. Around this age, children depend on parental support in daily life to carry out tasks. This alteration of family structure will impact smaller children more than older children, as the older child will have more outlets to channel their mental tension (Reiter et al., 2013). Sex trafficking is when someone is forced, through violence or threats to engage in commercial sex against their will. Sex trafficking happens because the traffickers can actually make money by selling their victims and forcing them into exploitation. Human trafficking is the modern day slavery, has many different methods, and needs to be recognized as a problem near our own hometowns so we can try our hardest to stop this nationwide problem. Human trafficking is a very organized crime. Traffickers take their victims from one country to another and force them into exploitation. There are many different methods and tactics used by traffickers to exploit their victims. According to Hannah Spruce the first method is commonly referred to as the Loverboy Tactic. This is when someone seduces another person romantically to force them into prostitution. Lover boys form romantic relationships with their victims, they aim to isolate the victim from their friends and family making it easier to get them to move across the country.
