Cane Toad Analysis
In the set of the reading and the listening, they both discuss how to destroy cane toad in Australia. On
the one hand, the reading argues that it is three easy ways to stop the spread of the cane toad: building
a national wall, telling volunteers to capture the cane toads, developing a disease virus to destroy
them. On the other hand, the professor opposes by stating that the three methods that present in the
reading passage is not useful but also cause more harm to the environment. First of all, the reading
states that construct a fence can prevent the advance toads from leaving to other parts of Australia.
However, the lecture disagrees with the reading by insisting that the fence can block some toads but
not all of them. Because there are

Nursing Constraints
Constraints are anything that limit or discourage certain movements at the same time they permit or
encourage other movements or shape the movement(s). 1 In light of that, when assessing the
constraints that may exist for this female patient there are three constraints that she will encounter:
individual constraints, environmental constraints, and task constraints. First, the individual constraints
exist within the patient herself (her own body). These constraints are related to her structure
(anatomical physiology, i.e. her height, weight, muscle mass, body size, etc.) and her function (her
behavior, attention, motivation). These constraints are all dependent on the patient herself and how she
is able to operate. In this case the patient has some stability and weakness issues of the ankle joint of
the involved limb. This will present a problem because she feels her ankle giving way when she plays
sports. This means her ankle muscles are weakened and unable to support her body weight while
running, jumping, and sharp agility movements when playing volleyball, making her prone to re
injury. If she re injures her ankle again she may face functional constraints in being sad or depressed

Some environmental constraints that she may have to overcome are sociocultural in that she is
competitive and wants to be the best player on the team and/or wants to be the best team amongst the
team s competition. Another constraint is the slick surface of the volleyball court that presents a fall
risk when running and jumping on the court. If the lighting is too bright or not bright enough, if the
crowd is too distracting, or if the weather is bad and causes a delay, all these will present as
environmental constraints for her when playing

The Ethics Of A Pharmaceutical Company
In order to view ethical dilemmas, we have to evaluate descriptive ethics that are present in a situation.
These descriptive ethics lay the foundation, to which, we are able to understand a circumstance in its
entirety. They are the concrete evidence where we can access all ethical boundaries and establish what
is considered morally inhabitable. What causes us to question morality, the principles that help us
determine right from wrong and good or bad (Beauchamp 2), is that the livelihood of a person or a
group of people are at stake. In the medical field, morality is questioned with every decision that is
made. Everyone hopes for the best outcome. With this outcome, individual roles can be questioned.
Who made the right decision, was it just and how does it affect the people around me or even them.
Martin Shkreli is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company named Turing Pharmaceuticals. His company
recently received rights to Daraprim, which is an anti viral drug used to treat toxoplasmosis in illness
directly related to HIV and cancer. The concern is that Martin raised the price of the medication from
$17.30 a pill to $750. With no remorse to the patient, who may not be able to afford this treatment, he
does not follow his word on lowering the price. He feels that pharmaceutical companies need to make
a profit, as well. There are so many ethical concerns with this situation. First, I would like to talk
about the moral principles that Martin lacks. Somewhere in his brain he

Joseph Hayden s String Band Essay
Joseph Haydn was one of the most acclaimed composers of the Classical Era. Known as the father of
the string quartet, he has created music that is withstanding the test of time and only becoming more
eminent in today s choice of literature. Hayden s String Quartet in C Major, Op. 74, No. 1, Movement
III, is one of so many that deserve a closer look and a keen eye to decipher. The use of elements such
as balance, harmonic closure, form and modulations are easy to look over at first glance. However,
through active listening and chord analysis, it becomes easier to absorb the material and thoroughly
appreciate the masterpiece. While looking at the bigger picture, we can see that the overall form of the
piece is ternary with smaller binary sections within. The entire beginning Menuetto section can be
considered an A section, which would make the Trio the B section. This is considered ternary because
after both sections have been completed, the A section is repeated once again (without its internal
repeats) and ends on a strong tonic cadence without continuing on to the B section. The A section
contains a binary form in itself. This is easily visible with the use of repeat signs from measure 1 14
(a) and then signifies b from measures 15 60 (also the end of A). Although beginning material is
repeated in this b section, in measures 32 39, Hayden takes the piece elsewhere with a small scale
tonicization of a bVI chord and continuing on in a different manner than a.

American Social Classes by Vance Packer
Throughout the Fifties, mass society started to rule in the United States. The 1950 s is one known as
the Eisenhower era. As the Supreme Allied Commander in Western Europe throughout World War II,
General Dwight D. Eisenhower headed the compels that battled a frantic battle against the Axis
powers. The Fifties picked up a notoriety for being a serene time. Residents moved to the suburbs and
TV began to take charge. The novel American Social Classes in the 1950 s by Vance Packer
investigates of class conduct of America in the 1950 s so students can explore.
One of the questions in this novel asked, How Packard did tells us about the 1950 s? I felt that it told
decade taking after World War II. It was described by luxuriousness in much of American culture,
offering ascent to elevated amounts of utilization and a blast in populace. Underneath this boundless
success, in any case, lay developing destitution for a few Americans, and the hole between the rich
and poor broadened.
I enjoyed this book because it was an excellent study. One of the strengths of American Social Classes
in 1950 s is that it s a time capsule within itself.
While reading this novel I realized that our society today is similar to the society in the 1950 s because
of the booming market. In the early 1940 s a period of plenitude started which by 1959 had arrived at
extents incredible by any past measures. Almost a large portion of trillion dollars value of products

Endogenous Cannabinoid Theory
Introduction Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a prevalent, chronic, and disabling anxiety
disorder that may develop following exposure to a traumatic event. People with PTSD have a
persistence of a heightened salience of traumatic memories and a failure of the extinction process to
diminish the impact of traumatic memories. The endogenous cannabinoid (eCB) system. composed of
receptors, neurotransmitters such as 2 arachidonoylglycerol (2 AG) and anandamide (AEA), and the
enzymes responsible for the breakdown and reuptake of endocannabinoids. eCB signaling is involved
in addiction, brain plasticity, learning and memory, neuronal development and pruning, nociception,
sleep wake cycle, and has been documented as a modulator of adaptation to stress (Kelmendi et al.,
2016; Campos Guimarães, 2008;). Interactions between eCBs and glucocorticoids have been shown to
be necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
AEA is an endogenous endocannabinoid, it is L peptide linking polymer amino acid. Cannabinoid
agonists have a biphasic reaction such that higher doses have an anxiety inducing effect while lower
doses have an anxiolytic effect (Campos Guimarães, 2008). Research on survivors of the terrorist
attacks on 9 11 has shown that people with PTSD have lower levels of the eCB agonist AEA and a
compensatory increase of CB1 receptor availability in the amygdala (Neumeister et al., 2013). When
the eCB system was activated through slowing the breakdown of endogenous cannabinoids, animal
models demonstrated improved extinction of aversive memories (Lutz, 2007), so the drug PF 3845
created by the Pfizer acts as a FAAH inhibitor and should work to prevent breakdown while the CB1
receptor antagonist TM38837 by 7TM Pharma should increase

Say Anything s I Don T Think It Matters
Album Review Say Anything s new album, I Don t Think It Is, is exactly what it sounds like. Max
Bemis is no stranger to pushing boundaries and this album reflects the ways he continues to do that.
Unlike most artists who release a few songs before the album drops, Bemis decided to take a different
approach in not just his music, but also his way of presenting it. This album was a complete surprise
and it was dropped as is with no songs leading up to the release. I was excited to see that one of my
favorite bands released a new album. After hearing it for the first time I came to one conclusion, Say
Anything s I Don t Think It Is, is perfectly imperfect in every way imaginable. This album was unlike
anything I have ever heard. It started off with the song Give A Damn. Bemis was screaming out his
lungs, basically going on a rant with this song setting the tone for the rest of the album. The chorus
says, We don t give a damn what they say repeated over and over. This is not unusual for Say
Anything, since they have always challenged the ideas of others. Quite frankly, just like the ... Show

Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials Hysteria Of 1692
What caused the Salem Witch Trials Hysteria of 1692? In 1692, in the small village of Salem,
Massachusetts, 20 people were hanged for offenses they did not commit. But what was the charge
against the 20? The answer would be witchcraft. The charges deeply affected the small community.
Neighbor turned on neighbor. Every act that a person made would be carefully scrutinized, dissected,
and repeated to others. This would lead to the question. What caused the Salem Witch Trial Hysteria
of 1692? The 3 main factors that would cause widespread panic in the town of Salem were gender,
marital status, and age, actors and attention seekers, and neighbor conflicts within the village of
Salem.
Firstly, the conflicts were caused by the factors of gender, age, and marital status. When looking at the
total number of men and women who were hanged, the women far outnumbered the men, 13 women
to 7 men (Source A). Of the 24 males who were accused of witchcraft, 15 were married, while of the
110 females accused, 61 were married. This shows that the number of females accused outnumbered
the men and the majority of those accused were married. Of the male accusers, all 5 were single,
ranging from the ages of 11 20, whereas off the 29 females accusers, 23 were single (the other 6 were
married). The ages of the accusers ranged from under 11 to over 21, with the majority being 16 20
years of age. There is a distinct pattern that stands out in the accused and the accusers. The accused

Hymn To Intellectual Beauty by P. B. Shelley Essay
In amp;quot;Hymn to Intellectual Beauty amp;quot;, Shelley describes his realisation of the power of
human intellect. In seven carefully constructed stanzas, he outlines the qualities of this power and the
e ect it has had on him, using the essential themes of Romantic poetry with references to nature and
the self.
In the first stanza, the concept of the amp;quot;unseen Power amp;quot; the mind is put forward, and
Shelley states his position on the subject. Throughout the stanza, extensive use is made of profluent
similes. amp;quot; As summer winds... | Like moonbeams... | Like hues... | Like clouds... | Like

dogmata and religious documents that amount to nothing without the proof of the living dead. The
purpose of this, as well as an opportunity to attack organised religion, is to suggest why the force of
human intellect (which we can all detect, manipulate, and recognise) is the true amp;quot;religion
amp;quot;. Shelley says that worshipping (and hence amp;quot;Hymn amp;quot; in the title) human
intellect would give amp;quot;truth to life s unquiet dream amp;quot;.
The fourth stanza consists of two principle ideas that death would have no hold over us if humanity
were to worship the Power, and that of further deifying and celebrating this intellecutal Power. The
stanza opens with exceptionally transient concepts amp;quot;Love, hope, and Self esteem amp;quot;
with which Shelley associates clouds evanescence and reappearance. He suggests that, if the Power
stayed firmly amp;quot;within his [mankind s] heart amp;quot;, then humanity would become
amp;quot;immortal and omnipotent amp;quot;. He implores the Power to stay within people, so that
death may itself become as a amp;quot;dying flame amp;quot; something without power, where the

Theseus In The Maze Runner
The book and recent movie adaptation, The Maze Runner, is strongly related to the life
of Theseus and more specifically the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur in the labyrinth. The
relationship and the similarities are clearly demonstrated through Thomas s character and
personality while comparing him to Theseus. The main characters are not the only aspect of this
series that is influenced by Greek mythology; the animals, or grievers are a representation of
the Minotaur and the challenges they present to the children. Also, simply based on the title, the
setting is another indisputable connection to the myth of the labyrinth.
The plot of the book is where one can notice the most obvious connections to the myth.
For example, the story centers around young boys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though
discrepancies occur, such as the time spans or the genders of the children, it is undeniable that
this story is almost completely based off of the Greek myth. Some other general plot similarities
include; the minotaur/griever attacks on the children, the heroes voluntary choice to go against
the animals, and the 50/50 body composition of the animals Minotaur is half human and half
animal while the grievers are half animal and half human made machine.
Taking a deeper look at the main character, Thomas, we see many characteristics that
would be considered heroic ones in the Greek and Roman times. The most evident connection
is through their willingness to risk their lives. Although Thomas did not volunteer to go to the
Glade as Theseus had, he did chose to go inside the maze and risk his life there among the
grievers in the hopes of finding an escape. Their bravery connects them in multiple ways,
especially when attempting to prove their self worth. Thomas has to consistently prove himself
to the older members of the Glade, usually involving going into the maze or other

Crooked Nose Research Paper
Crooked Nose
There are two procedures which are usually involved in the correction of a crooked nose. These
procedures include septoplasty, which is performed to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction, and
rhinoplasty, which is done to improve the external appearance of the nose. These two procedures may
be done individually, or together, depending on the needs and desires of the patient. Then the
physician can, if necessary, surgically realign the nasal septum to improve the air flow, and, if desired
by the patient also improve the cosmetic appearance of the nose.
The surgery, which may take anywhere from one to three hours, is usually performed on an outpatient
basis under local or general anesthesia. A small splint will be attached to the outside of the nose and
should be worn for approximately one week. The final appearance of the nose is not apparent for six
to twelve months because normal healing takes place gradually. Generally, insurance will cover a
procedure to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction, but not a procedure to improve the external
appearance of the nose. For a patient who has both septoplasty ... Show more content on

The Theory Of Moral Development In To Kill A Mockingbird
Scout s Moral growth
The Theory of Moral Development is a subject that derived from Jean Piaget s theory of moral
reasoning and this theory was developed by psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg. This theory made us
conscious that morality starts from the early childhood years and can possibly be affected by several
factors such as society, but there are people in opposition to this theory. Kohlberg developed six stages
of moral development and it is divided into three levels of development. The three levels of moral
development are preconventional, conventional, and postconventional. As stated in Kohlberg s theory,
moral development proceeds in a linear process; it also proceeds steadily from one stage to the next in
the order of moral development ( Kohlberg s slide presentation ). Kohlberg uncovered four stages after
Jean Piaget s because he had only discovered two. The stages that Kohlberg discovered after Jean
flourish into adolescence and adulthood. He suggested that some people reach the postconventional
level. (Oswalt).
Jean Louise Finch (Scout) is the protagonist in the book To Kill a Mockingbird . Scout is a young girl
that is very astute in many aspects and as a matter of fact she is confident. She learns to read before
she begins school because of her father. Scout develops her moral growth because of all the challenges
she faces. The solutions for Scout s problems were fighting that s how she let her anger out. She lives
with her father (Atticus Finch) and her

Deviance Essay
Deviance is what is considered a violation of cultural norms, and is something that is frowned upon
due to social norms. Society attempts to regulate people s thoughts and behaviors for social control.
There is a huge connection between the two because deviance varies with cultural norms, people
become deviant when others define them as such and both norms and the definition given involve
social power. Lets take the example of Brent Staple; new to New York, and was a graduate student
who had been an avid nightwalker. Mr. Staples became painfully aware that society had seen him as
deviant, because when they looked at him all they saw was a black man wearing bulky clothes late at
night walking around ready to attack someone. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So to sum that all up categories, labels and boundary lines are constructed so that social groups can
maintain a norm and they believe allows for a functioning society. You have racially motivated deviant
boundary lines so that social groups can segregate themselves from others to have power over each
other. So why do social groups label and categorize people as deviant based off of race? Labeling
someone as deviant because of race is away for society to try and strengthening themselves as racially
segregated groups. For example if a group of whites label a group of blacks as outcasts or deviants it
gives them social control and power. Another reason why social groups construct boundary lines,
labels and categorizes is because that is their way of keeping society functioning and keeping people
within the norms of what we know as normal and abnormal. If society cannot outcast people then we
have no hierarchy and no power. With Brent Staples he was feeling as an outsider, seeing fear from
people because of his race, his gender, his clothing as well as the fact he was out late walking around.
In my opinion society is taking away his power of freedom to be comfortable doing what many other
people were doing at night walking around, they took away his power to feel whole as an individual.
All of these factors gave the people around him the idea that he was something to be feared. It made
him feel that he needed to change, to conform to society so he would not be

Why Is Flagellation Should Be Allowed In Schools
As I was growing up, my mom would tell me stories when they would use the wooden paddle in
school. She would tell me that they would spank her friends when they would behave bad. She also
told me that there was this kid they spanked so hard that they heard the kid sobbing and squealing.
Flagellation should be allowed in some schools, because some kids don t have respect or manners in
school and by that they should learn by getting paddled. Because some parents don t punish their kids
and that s what makes kids behave bad and they have to learn by getting paddled. And I think that it
would help some parents by straightening their kids up a little. The reason they should do this again in
schools is because some kids don t have the respect they

theory. His ideas derive from the Enlightenment. According to Wolff, the state was a voluntary
contract between individuals and the main purpose of the state was to further welfare and security. At
the same time, since the state has the duty to plan and implement measures for security and welfare, it
has the right to insist that its citizens obey its orders. It is emphasized that they are bound to do
willingly whatever the authorities deem to be right. These ideas were expounded and elaborated,
without adding anything new, by the German political theorists of the 18th century and particularly by
the followers of Wolff.
In practice, Enlightened Absolutism was certainly not so radical. The Physiocrats never got beyond
the initial stages in the implementation of their doctrines. Thus the French doctrine of Despotisme
éclaire remains an interesting trend of thought, but its practical effect was almost nil. The direct
influence of the German 18th century administrative theory was not much as well.
Frederick II of Prussia is often regarded as the first true enlightened despot. He was the first monarch
who declared the sovereign is the first servant of the state and presented Europe with a model of
progressive monarchy. Frederick cultivated friendship with several Philosophes and believed that
inputs from them could be used to make the administration of

Evolution Of Mobile Network Essay
THE GRADUAL EVOLUTION OF MOBILE NETWORKS FROM FIRST GENERATION TO THE
FIFTH GENERATION
ABSTRACT
Mobile networks have made a remarkable growth in the last 20 years. In our time 4G is the main
network used to ensure IP connectivity for real time and non real time services. It will be wrong not to
mention that in most 3rd world countries 3G and 2G networks are still of great importance in the field
of communication due to poor connectivity issues preventing them to utilize the services of 4G
services. This paper will mainly talk about the growth of mobile networks from say 3G to 4G and also
mention in details what we expect from 5G network. It will also mention some of the positive and
negative impacts to our Kenyan society and ways to ensure that we benefit fully from the services.
The proposal in this paper is fundamental shift in the mobile networking philosophy compared to
existing 3G and near soon 4G mobile technologies, and this concept is called here the 5G.

Cryptography And The Egyptian Tomb Of A Nobleman
Since written history and most likely prior, the world has been trying to hide and keep others away
from things considered important enough. Civilization has a desire to hide this information from
others. This could be for reasons of espionage, having a secret that shouldn t be shared or some other
well guarded right. Cryptography, encryption and various other methods have been used in history and
are constantly evolving into what we are using today to protect our data from getting stolen, hacked
and lives peeked at.
Cryptography, at least in some form, has been around since 1900 BC where the first known evidence
had been seen in an Egyptian tomb of a nobleman, Khnuhotep II. Here, there are unusual hieroglyphic
symbols that the scribe used in the place of more ordinary ones that one would expect. It is thought
that the purpose of changing these symbols, it was not to hide the message, but make it seem like it
was more dignified. However, evidence of cryptography has been traced back to the most of the major
early civilizations. Arthasharta, an ancient Indian treatise, helps tell of an espionage service and
mentions secret writing that their spies had used on assignements. Julias Caesar also had his very own
cipher. It was a form of encryption to relay secret messages to his generals that were on the war front.
It is a substitution cipher, and the most widely mentioned in history. A substitution cipher is where a
plain text message would have each character

Ethics In Wells Fargo s Business Practices

Changes in Policy after School Shootings
Policies have changed since the shooting happened in Littleton, Colorado. Before Columbine the
primary goal of law enforcement officers before and during a shooting was to set up a perimeter and
await arrival of SWAT members (Erickson, 2001). This policy has changed in many states including
Pennsylvania where police had been preparing for active shooters with local schools. Police are not
able to wait the twenty minutes to an hour for SWAT to arrive at a scene which is why the state
mandated that local police receive active shooting training (Coughlin, 2012). This response and a
brochure that the Department of Homeland Security came out with are allowing schools a better
chance of eliminating a shooter with less causalities and injuries. This brochure goes into to profile of
an active shooter, how to respond to an active shooter, how to respond when law enforcement arrives,
training staff for an active shooter, preparing for and managing an active shooter situation, recognizing
workplace violence, managing the consequences of an active shooter, and lessons learned (DHS,
2008). Recommendations were made following the shooting to implement a command center with
personnel able to take command at the beginning of a crisis, control assembled personnel, and to
communicate objectives clearly (Erickson, 2001). This came after the failure of law enforcement to set
up a successful command center whereas Fire and EMS successfully instituted an incident command
center based on

Discrimination Against Gay Discrimination
Discrimination against, and persecution of, Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ)
people is as widespread as it is timeless. While conditions in society have improved, especially in
recent years, it is not hard to find an example of some sort of harassment endured by an LGBTQ
person. Different justifications exist in the minds of those who seek to harass and condemn: religious
beliefs, personal taste, familial responsibilities, nationalistic unity, cultural expectations, the list goes
on and on. Shielded with these, persecutors strike against the LGBTQ community, wielding religious
and governmental institutions like weapons. The casualties of this so called culture war are high:
mental health is negatively affected, families are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this is a monumental achievement, it tends to give a false sense that the battle is won and
discrimination has been toppled, however nothing could be further from the truth. Gay adoption is still
a contentious issue. In Florida, for example, state laws prohibit any homosexual from adopting a child.
Florida prohibits second parent adoptions as well. () Even today we still have LGBTQ members
getting arrested over their private consensual practices. A web journal demonstrated while the sodomy
laws have been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, they still pose a very active threat for
LGBTQ members in rural Southern communities. () Many big legal issues still exist that LGBTQ
people have to navigate carefully around.
Personally: Raising children
Workplace discrimination still occurs towards members of the LGBTQ community which negatively
impacts all aspects of their life. Being discriminated against at the workplace effects economic
stability not to mention how it can bring many psychological issues. Congress has been working on
passing the Employment Non Discrimination Act require an employer judge a homosexual based on
how well their skill are performed at the job, qualifications, and the quality of their work. We can see
how being discriminated against can cause job instability and high turnover, which promotes a greater
unemployment and poverty rates. Gays also tend to experience a

Racial Ethnic Differences Of Offending, Victimization, And...
Q1.The racial/ethnic differences in offending, victimization, and incarceration? Minorities,
particularly African Americans, are generally overrepresented in the criminal justice system both as
offenders and as victims. According to the Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) for 2003, African
Americans (who were 12.7 percent of the population in 2003) were arrested for 37 percent of violent
crimes (murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault) and 29
percent of property crime (102:288). African Americans are disproportionately arrested for violent
crimes and whites for burglaries and property crimes. Although most crime is committed by males,
black women are also disproportionately involved in the criminal justice system. The rate of black
women under control of the criminal justice system is growing faster than for any other group,
including black men and white men (86:136). Blacks are victims of serious violent crimes at far higher
rates than whites. In 2002, blacks were 6 times more likely to be murdered than whites; and although
homicide levels have declined for all groups over the past decade, during the 1976 to 2002 period,
rates were disproportionately high for African Americans at 47 percent of victims (28
Native Americans also have disproportionately high rates of criminal offending and victimization.

As a quick statement prior to beginning this assignment I thoroughly enjoyed researching this topic. It
has been of personal interest to me for years. I have, in the past (as far back as the 1970 s), invested
my personal time researching designs and building prototypes, which utilize alternative fuels for
vehicle propulsion and various mechanical motion applications with a practical approach.
This assessment is submitted for the consideration of Lotus Rental Cars Chief Financial Officer, the
topic covered is to assist in answering the question of the feasibility of adding alternative fuel vehicles

Another AFV energy source is methanol, a type of alcohol. Methanol can be produced from a variety
of sources such as coal or natural gas, natural gas being the least costly source. The overall effect of
import dependency is relatively the same as that of LNG. Denatured alcohol, or ethanol, can be made
from corn and other biomass products. The supply within the United States is very limited at best and
foreign supply would be required to fill the demands if ethanol AFV numbers increase. Ethanol is used
to reformulate gasoline in California as a substitute for the recent reversal of state guidelines to add
Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) to gasoline. The total demand within California requires
approximately 10% of all ethanol consumed must be imported. Increased demand will increase the
need for importation due to California and the United States current production capacity levels. No
new ethanol production plants are scheduled for construction at this time therefore guaranteeing the
import demands.
Hydrogen, as an energy source for AFV can be used in the form of either an internal combustion
engine or a fuel cell where hydrogen is mixed with oxygen to produce electrical power. Current
experimentation, testing and development are in process from all major automotive manufacturers in
North America, Europe and Japan. There is no infrastructure for the refueling of hydrogen powered
vehicles, nor are any readily available hydrogen powered vehicles being produced for

The Roles of Greek Heroism and the Gods in the Persian Wars
The Persian Wars (499 479 BC) put the Greeks in the difficult position of having to defend their
country against a vast empire with an army that greatly outnumbered their own. Many city states
united in battle, although others found ways to avoid participation in the wars. The Greeks also relied
on the words of Apollo to guide them, but the oracle did not always act encouragingly. The Greeks
defeated the Persians in the Persian Wars due to heroic actions performed by Athens and Sparta and
occasional assistance from the gods, but cowardice shown by other poleis nearly ended the Greeks
chances of success.
Unity between the Greek poleis could be seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Athenians superior attitude would continue throughout the wars against Persia.
The Greeks showed more unity during the Second Persian War. Xerxes assembled a Persian army
including soldiers from all parts of the Eastern world in order to retaliate against the Greeks for their
victory at Marathon, and this caused the Greeks to worry. Thirty one Greek poleis met at Corinth to
discuss the situation, and appointed Sparta to the position of commanding polis due to its vast hoplite
army. Greeks who were loyal to the Greek cause... reconcile[d] enmities and put a stop to existing
wars between each other (Hdt. VII.145.1) in order to fight against Persia. However, only one
Peloponnesian state (Sparta) offered help throughout the wars.
Argos received an excuse from the Delphic oracle to keep it from battle (Hdt. VII.148 152), and
Messene was so corrupted that [it] even tried to prevent Sparta s attempts to come to Greece s aid
(Plato, 692d). Other city states avoided participation in the wars as well. The oracle also excused Crete
from fighting (Hdt. VII.169), and the tyrant Gelon of Syracuse refused to let his state help Greece s
cause (Brunt 158 162). If these poleis had chosen to fight, the Persians may have been intimidated by
the large Greek forces and avoided war. The Greeks instead presented an image of a nation torn by
cowardice, thereby making the Persians more confident in attacking Greece. This lack of unity among
the city states created some

The Free Application For Federal Student Aid
Introduction During week two, we were tasked to conduct a financial analysis of the Johnson family
and assess their ability to independently fund the college educations of their three children. That
analysis determined the two hundred dollars currently contributed monthly to each child s college
fund since each child was born will not fully fund their educations, given their ages, current balances
in each college fund and the annual inflation of college costs. Assuming their available cash flow will
only support the current monthly college fund contributions, alternative methods and financial tools
must be explored to mitigate the shortfall. The purpose of this paper will be to research other college
funding alternatives which may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is equally important for other potential forms of financial aid as many states and colleges
use your FAFSA data to determine your eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial
aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid
(Federal Student Aid, 2017, p.1). Federal Student Aid is a very large program providing more than
$150 billion in federal grants, loans, and work study funds each year to more than 13 million students
paying for college or career school (Federal Student Aid, 2017, p.1). Therefore, the student who is
seeking financial aid to cover a portion of college costs needs to first and foremost complete a FAFSA
application as it is the basis for Federal Student Aid but is also the data source for other forms of
student financial aid. FAFSA applications consider the assets of the parents and the student in
determining the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and will normally expect a higher percentage of
contribution from student assets vice a lower percentage from the parents (Mannaioni Greer 2016).
For determining family or student assets to be assessed against potential financial aid, FAFSA places
emphasis on family or student adjusted gross income as other assets such as retirement accounts, cash
value life insurance, home equity and small business assets are excluded when calculating the EFC.
Institutional Methodology, on the other

The Famished Road fits the description above. Some of the characters (Azaro and his father) feel that
the world is very corrupt. The only way to climb up the social ladder is to join the detested Party of

and belong to the Party of the Poor. To compensate for their poverty, they spend most of their time
dreaming. Azaro s father plans to build houses for the poor, tar all the roads, clear away all the rubbish

education to the poor, become head of state, or an invisible ruler of a very educated nation (408 409).

A Note On Gs Expression System
a) GS expression system is used to select high express cells, where glutamine synthetase (GS) is used
as a selectable marker. Normal functioned cell produce use glutamate and ammonium to produce
glutamine, with the presence of glutamine synthetase. To select, firstly, glutamine was eliminated from
culture media as the selective pressure. Only cell with strong expression potential can overcome this
condition. The cells survived this selection then proceeded to the second selection, where methionine
sulphoxamine (MSX) was added into the media. MSX is a specific inhibitor of GS that stop normal
GS function. Therefore, only cells whose plasmid contains both the gene of interest and a copy the
glutamine synthetase (GS) gene can survive this condition. Due to the presence of GS gene in their
plasmid, the glutamine synthesis was not halted in these survived high expresser cells. These cells
were hence selected for cell line production.
b) The specific productivity (qp) in mammalian cell bioreactor mean the amount of cells made per unit
time per volume. To increase bioreactor productivity, the value of qp need to be maximised. To
achieve a high specific productivity, a cell line with higher efficiency is needed. A well designed and
well developed cell line requires: 1). A strong promoter strength so that genes can express effectively;
2) amplification of the system to give a reasonable system scale to exploit the production potential of
the cell factory.

Adler s Ethos In How To Mark A Book
When I read a book or a paper, I read it and sometimes make a few mental notes. What do you do? Do
you mark and write things down? In Mortimer J. Adler s paper, How to Mark a Book, he argues the
best way to get the most out of reading is to mark the book or paper, leaving ones thoughts on the
pages. Some say this slows them down, or leaves behind a messy, ruined book, but Adler claims
reading slower and writing thoughts down allows the reader and author to have a conversation that
will enhance the readers understanding of the text. Through his paper, Adler attempts to use the
rhetorical triangle of ethos, pathos, and logos to connect the audience to his paper and to convince
them the best way to understand a text is through marking it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ethos Out of the three, ethos, pathos, and logos, Mortimer J. Adler uses ethos, or the ethical character
and credibility of the speaker, most effectively, in order to convince his audience that he has a right to
be explaining the usefulness of marking a book while reading it. In the very beginning, there is an
introduction about Adler which states things such as, He founded and fathered the Great Books
Program, edited the Encyclopedia Britannica, and wrote dozens of books on educational, intellectual,
and philosophical topics (Adler, n.d./2012, p.1). He also earned his PhD from Columbia University
after dropping out of high school, demonstrating his dedication to learning. This sets the stage for the
reader to feel that the author is a credible source for writing on this subject. As the article continues,
Adler retains his credibility by mentioning other point of views. He says, You may say that this
business of marking books is going to slow up your reading (Adler, n.d./2012, p.4). Although he does
mention these other points of view, he refutes them quickly. For example, the next two sentences say,
It probably will. That s one of the reasons for doing it (Adler, n.d./2012, p.4). He refutes the other
viewpoints in order to help the reader feel more confident that his way is the best way. He does so in a

  • 2. Cane Toad Analysis In the set of the reading and the listening, they both discuss how to destroy cane toad in Australia. On the one hand, the reading argues that it is three easy ways to stop the spread of the cane toad: building a national wall, telling volunteers to capture the cane toads, developing a disease virus to destroy them. On the other hand, the professor opposes by stating that the three methods that present in the reading passage is not useful but also cause more harm to the environment. First of all, the reading states that construct a fence can prevent the advance toads from leaving to other parts of Australia. However, the lecture disagrees with the reading by insisting that the fence can block some toads but not all of them. Because there are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Nursing Constraints Constraints are anything that limit or discourage certain movements at the same time they permit or encourage other movements or shape the movement(s). 1 In light of that, when assessing the constraints that may exist for this female patient there are three constraints that she will encounter: individual constraints, environmental constraints, and task constraints. First, the individual constraints exist within the patient herself (her own body). These constraints are related to her structure (anatomical physiology, i.e. her height, weight, muscle mass, body size, etc.) and her function (her behavior, attention, motivation). These constraints are all dependent on the patient herself and how she is able to operate. In this case the patient has some stability and weakness issues of the ankle joint of the involved limb. This will present a problem because she feels her ankle giving way when she plays sports. This means her ankle muscles are weakened and unable to support her body weight while running, jumping, and sharp agility movements when playing volleyball, making her prone to re injury. If she re injures her ankle again she may face functional constraints in being sad or depressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some environmental constraints that she may have to overcome are sociocultural in that she is competitive and wants to be the best player on the team and/or wants to be the best team amongst the team s competition. Another constraint is the slick surface of the volleyball court that presents a fall risk when running and jumping on the court. If the lighting is too bright or not bright enough, if the crowd is too distracting, or if the weather is bad and causes a delay, all these will present as environmental constraints for her when playing ... • 4. The Ethics Of A Pharmaceutical Company In order to view ethical dilemmas, we have to evaluate descriptive ethics that are present in a situation. These descriptive ethics lay the foundation, to which, we are able to understand a circumstance in its entirety. They are the concrete evidence where we can access all ethical boundaries and establish what is considered morally inhabitable. What causes us to question morality, the principles that help us determine right from wrong and good or bad (Beauchamp 2), is that the livelihood of a person or a group of people are at stake. In the medical field, morality is questioned with every decision that is made. Everyone hopes for the best outcome. With this outcome, individual roles can be questioned. Who made the right decision, was it just and how does it affect the people around me or even them. Martin Shkreli is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company named Turing Pharmaceuticals. His company recently received rights to Daraprim, which is an anti viral drug used to treat toxoplasmosis in illness directly related to HIV and cancer. The concern is that Martin raised the price of the medication from $17.30 a pill to $750. With no remorse to the patient, who may not be able to afford this treatment, he does not follow his word on lowering the price. He feels that pharmaceutical companies need to make a profit, as well. There are so many ethical concerns with this situation. First, I would like to talk about the moral principles that Martin lacks. Somewhere in his brain he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Joseph Hayden s String Band Essay Joseph Haydn was one of the most acclaimed composers of the Classical Era. Known as the father of the string quartet, he has created music that is withstanding the test of time and only becoming more eminent in today s choice of literature. Hayden s String Quartet in C Major, Op. 74, No. 1, Movement III, is one of so many that deserve a closer look and a keen eye to decipher. The use of elements such as balance, harmonic closure, form and modulations are easy to look over at first glance. However, through active listening and chord analysis, it becomes easier to absorb the material and thoroughly appreciate the masterpiece. While looking at the bigger picture, we can see that the overall form of the piece is ternary with smaller binary sections within. The entire beginning Menuetto section can be considered an A section, which would make the Trio the B section. This is considered ternary because after both sections have been completed, the A section is repeated once again (without its internal repeats) and ends on a strong tonic cadence without continuing on to the B section. The A section contains a binary form in itself. This is easily visible with the use of repeat signs from measure 1 14 (a) and then signifies b from measures 15 60 (also the end of A). Although beginning material is repeated in this b section, in measures 32 39, Hayden takes the piece elsewhere with a small scale tonicization of a bVI chord and continuing on in a different manner than a. ... It was described by luxuriousness in much of American culture, offering ascent to elevated amounts of utilization and a blast in populace. Underneath this boundless success, in any case, lay developing destitution for a few Americans, and the hole between the rich and poor broadened. I enjoyed this book because it was an excellent study. One of the strengths of American Social Classes in 1950 s is that it s a time capsule within itself. While reading this novel I realized that our society today is similar to the society in the 1950 s because of the booming market. In the early 1940 s a period of plenitude started which by 1959 had arrived at extents incredible by any past measures. Endogenous Cannabinoid Theory Introduction Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a prevalent, chronic, and disabling anxiety disorder that may develop following exposure to a traumatic event. People with PTSD have a persistence of a heightened salience of traumatic memories and a failure of the extinction process to diminish the impact of traumatic memories. The endogenous cannabinoid (eCB) system. composed of receptors, neurotransmitters such as 2 arachidonoylglycerol (2 AG) and anandamide (AEA), and the enzymes responsible for the breakdown and reuptake of endocannabinoids. eCB signaling is involved in addiction, brain plasticity, learning and memory, neuronal development and pruning, nociception, sleep wake cycle, and has been documented as a modulator of adaptation to stress (Kelmendi et al., 2016; Campos Guimarães, 2008;). AEA is an endogenous endocannabinoid, it is L peptide linking polymer amino acid. Cannabinoid agonists have a biphasic reaction such that higher doses have an anxiety inducing effect while lower doses have an anxiolytic effect (Campos Guimarães, 2008). Research on survivors of the terrorist attacks on 9 11 has shown that people with PTSD have lower levels of the eCB agonist AEA and a compensatory increase of CB1 receptor availability in the amygdala (Neumeister et al., 2013). When the eCB system was activated through slowing the breakdown of endogenous cannabinoids, animal models demonstrated improved extinction of aversive memories (Lutz, 2007), so the drug PF 3845 created by the Pfizer acts as a FAAH inhibitor and should work to prevent breakdown while the CB1 receptor antagonist TM38837 by 7TM Pharma should increase ... • 11. Say Anything s I Don T Think It Matters Album Review Say Anything s new album, I Don t Think It Is, is exactly what it sounds like. Max Bemis is no stranger to pushing boundaries and this album reflects the ways he continues to do that. Unlike most artists who release a few songs before the album drops, Bemis decided to take a different approach in not just his music, but also his way of presenting it. This album was a complete surprise and it was dropped as is with no songs leading up to the release. I was excited to see that one of my favorite bands released a new album. After hearing it for the first time I came to one conclusion, Say Anything s I Don t Think It Is, is perfectly imperfect in every way imaginable. This album was unlike anything I have ever heard. It started off with the song Give A Damn. Bemis was screaming out his lungs, basically going on a rant with this song setting the tone for the rest of the album. The chorus says, We don t give a damn what they say repeated over and over. This is not unusual for Say Anything, since they have always challenged the ideas of others. In 1692, in the small village of Salem, Massachusetts, 20 people were hanged for offenses they did not commit. But what was the charge against the 20? The answer would be witchcraft. The charges deeply affected the small community. Neighbor turned on neighbor. Every act that a person made would be carefully scrutinized, dissected, and repeated to others. This would lead to the question. What caused the Salem Witch Trial Hysteria of 1692? The 3 main factors that would cause widespread panic in the town of Salem were gender, marital status, and age, actors and attention seekers, and neighbor conflicts within the village of Salem. Firstly, the conflicts were caused by the factors of gender, age, and marital status. When looking at the total number of men and women who were hanged, the women far outnumbered the men, 13 women to 7 men (Source A). Of the 24 males who were accused of witchcraft, 15 were married, while of the 110 females accused, 61 were married. This shows that the number of females accused outnumbered the men and the majority of those accused were married. Of the male accusers, all 5 were single, ranging from the ages of 11 20, whereas off the 29 females accusers, 23 were single (the other 6 were married). The ages of the accusers ranged from under 11 to over 21, with the majority being 16 20 years of age. There is a distinct pattern that stands out in the accused and the accusers. In seven carefully constructed stanzas, he outlines the qualities of this power and the e ect it has had on him, using the essential themes of Romantic poetry with references to nature and the self. In the first stanza, the concept of the amp;quot;unseen Power amp;quot; the mind is put forward, and Shelley states his position on the subject. Throughout the stanza, extensive use is made of profluent similes. amp;quot; As summer winds... | Like moonbeams... | Like hues... | Like clouds... | Like memory... amp;quot;; these intangible elements of nature and, significantly, memory (which here is a human quality) is aiming to ... The fourth stanza consists of two principle ideas that death would have no hold over us if humanity were to worship the Power, and that of further deifying and celebrating this intellecutal Power. The stanza opens with exceptionally transient concepts amp;quot;Love, hope, and Self esteem amp;quot; with which Shelley associates clouds evanescence and reappearance. He suggests that, if the Power stayed firmly amp;quot;within his [mankind s] heart amp;quot;, then humanity would become amp;quot;immortal and omnipotent amp;quot;. Theseus In The Maze Runner The book and recent movie adaptation, The Maze Runner, is strongly related to the life of Theseus and more specifically the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur in the labyrinth. The relationship and the similarities are clearly demonstrated through Thomas s character and personality while comparing him to Theseus. The main characters are not the only aspect of this series that is influenced by Greek mythology; the animals, or grievers are a representation of the Minotaur and the challenges they present to the children. Also, simply based on the title, the setting is another indisputable connection to the myth of the labyrinth. The plot of the book is where one can notice the most obvious connections to the myth. Though discrepancies occur, such as the time spans or the genders of the children, it is undeniable that this story is almost completely based off of the Greek myth. Some other general plot similarities include; the minotaur/griever attacks on the children, the heroes voluntary choice to go against the animals, and the 50/50 body composition of the animals Minotaur is half human and half animal while the grievers are half animal and half human made machine. Taking a deeper look at the main character, Thomas, we see many characteristics that would be considered heroic ones in the Greek and Roman times. The most evident connection is through their willingness to risk their lives. Although Thomas did not volunteer to go to the Glade as Theseus had, he did chose to go inside the maze and risk his life there among the grievers in the hopes of finding an escape. • 17. Crooked Nose Research Paper Crooked Nose There are two procedures which are usually involved in the correction of a crooked nose. These procedures include septoplasty, which is performed to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction, and rhinoplasty, which is done to improve the external appearance of the nose. These two procedures may be done individually, or together, depending on the needs and desires of the patient. Then the physician can, if necessary, surgically realign the nasal septum to improve the air flow, and, if desired by the patient also improve the cosmetic appearance of the nose. The surgery, which may take anywhere from one to three hours, is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia. A small splint will be attached to the outside of the nose and should be worn for approximately one week. The final appearance of the nose is not apparent for six to twelve months because normal healing takes place gradually. Generally, insurance will cover a procedure to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction, but not a procedure to improve the external appearance of the nose. • 18. The Theory Of Moral Development In To Kill A Mockingbird Scout s Moral growth The Theory of Moral Development is a subject that derived from Jean Piaget s theory of moral reasoning and this theory was developed by psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg. This theory made us conscious that morality starts from the early childhood years and can possibly be affected by several factors such as society, but there are people in opposition to this theory. Kohlberg developed six stages of moral development and it is divided into three levels of development. The three levels of moral development are preconventional, conventional, and postconventional. As stated in Kohlberg s theory, moral development proceeds in a linear process; it also proceeds steadily from one stage to the next in the order of moral development ( Kohlberg s slide presentation ). Kohlberg uncovered four stages after Jean Piaget s because he had only discovered two. The stages that Kohlberg discovered after Jean flourish into adolescence and adulthood. He suggested that some people reach the postconventional level. (Oswalt). Jean Louise Finch (Scout) is the protagonist in the book To Kill a Mockingbird . Scout is a young girl that is very astute in many aspects and as a matter of fact she is confident. She learns to read before she begins school because of her father. Scout develops her moral growth because of all the challenges she faces. The solutions for Scout s problems were fighting that s how she let her anger out. • 19. Deviance Essay Deviance is what is considered a violation of cultural norms, and is something that is frowned upon due to social norms. Society attempts to regulate people s thoughts and behaviors for social control. There is a huge connection between the two because deviance varies with cultural norms, people become deviant when others define them as such and both norms and the definition given involve social power. Lets take the example of Brent Staple; new to New York, and was a graduate student who had been an avid nightwalker. Mr. Staples became painfully aware that society had seen him as deviant, because when they looked at him all they saw was a black man wearing bulky clothes late at night walking around ready to attack someone. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So to sum that all up categories, labels and boundary lines are constructed so that social groups can maintain a norm and they believe allows for a functioning society. You have racially motivated deviant boundary lines so that social groups can segregate themselves from others to have power over each other. So why do social groups label and categorize people as deviant based off of race? Labeling someone as deviant because of race is away for society to try and strengthening themselves as racially segregated groups. For example if a group of whites label a group of blacks as outcasts or deviants it gives them social control and power. Another reason why social groups construct boundary lines, labels and categorizes is because that is their way of keeping society functioning and keeping people within the norms of what we know as normal and abnormal. If society cannot outcast people then we have no hierarchy and no power. With Brent Staples he was feeling as an outsider, seeing fear from people because of his race, his gender, his clothing as well as the fact he was out late walking around. In my opinion society is taking away his power of freedom to be comfortable doing what many other people were doing at night walking around, they took away his power to feel whole as an individual. All of these factors gave the people around him the idea that he was something to be feared. It made him feel that he needed to change, to conform to society so he would not be ... She would tell me that they would spank her friends when they would behave bad. She also told me that there was this kid they spanked so hard that they heard the kid sobbing and squealing. Flagellation should be allowed in some schools, because some kids don t have respect or manners in school and by that they should learn by getting paddled. Because some parents don t punish their kids and that s what makes kids behave bad and they have to learn by getting paddled. The Enlightenment refers to an important cultural and intellectual movement of the 18th century, whose goal was to establish knowledge based on an enlightened rationality. Enlightened Absolutism or Enlightened Despotism as it is more often called can be defined as a form of government strongly influenced by the wide propagation of ideas and the political philosophy of the Enlightenment. Christian Wolff was the first to introduce the ideas of the Enlightenment into German administrative theory. His ideas derive from the Enlightenment. According to Wolff, the state was a voluntary contract between individuals and the main purpose of the state was to further welfare and security. At the same time, since the state has the duty to plan and implement measures for security and welfare, it has the right to insist that its citizens obey its orders. It is emphasized that they are bound to do willingly whatever the authorities deem to be right. These ideas were expounded and elaborated, without adding anything new, by the German political theorists of the 18th century and particularly by the followers of Wolff. In practice, Enlightened Absolutism was certainly not so radical. The Physiocrats never got beyond the initial stages in the implementation of their doctrines. Thus the French doctrine of Despotisme éclaire remains an interesting trend of thought, but its practical effect was almost nil. The direct influence of the German 18th century administrative theory was not much as well. Frederick II of Prussia is often regarded as the first true enlightened despot. He was the first monarch who declared the sovereign is the first servant of the state and presented Europe with a model of progressive monarchy. Cryptography, encryption and various other methods have been used in history and are constantly evolving into what we are using today to protect our data from getting stolen, hacked and lives peeked at. Cryptography, at least in some form, has been around since 1900 BC where the first known evidence had been seen in an Egyptian tomb of a nobleman, Khnuhotep II. Here, there are unusual hieroglyphic symbols that the scribe used in the place of more ordinary ones that one would expect. It is thought that the purpose of changing these symbols, it was not to hide the message, but make it seem like it was more dignified. However, evidence of cryptography has been traced back to the most of the major early civilizations. Arthasharta, an ancient Indian treatise, helps tell of an espionage service and mentions secret writing that their spies had used on assignements. Julias Caesar also had his very own cipher. • 26. Changes in Policy after School Shootings Policies have changed since the shooting happened in Littleton, Colorado. Before Columbine the primary goal of law enforcement officers before and during a shooting was to set up a perimeter and await arrival of SWAT members (Erickson, 2001). This policy has changed in many states including Pennsylvania where police had been preparing for active shooters with local schools. Police are not able to wait the twenty minutes to an hour for SWAT to arrive at a scene which is why the state mandated that local police receive active shooting training (Coughlin, 2012). This response and a brochure that the Department of Homeland Security came out with are allowing schools a better chance of eliminating a shooter with less causalities and injuries. This brochure goes into to profile of an active shooter, how to respond to an active shooter, how to respond when law enforcement arrives, training staff for an active shooter, preparing for and managing an active shooter situation, recognizing workplace violence, managing the consequences of an active shooter, and lessons learned (DHS, 2008). Recommendations were made following the shooting to implement a command center with personnel able to take command at the beginning of a crisis, control assembled personnel, and to communicate objectives clearly (Erickson, 2001). Normal functioned cell produce use glutamate and ammonium to produce glutamine, with the presence of glutamine synthetase. To select, firstly, glutamine was eliminated from culture media as the selective pressure. Only cell with strong expression potential can overcome this condition. The cells survived this selection then proceeded to the second selection, where methionine sulphoxamine (MSX) was added into the media. MSX is a specific inhibitor of GS that stop normal GS function.
