Army Profession Of Arms Essay
The Roles in the Army in the Profession of Arms
In the first section The Army as a Profession of Arms, Toner (2010) said, The preeminent military
task, and what separates the military profession from all other occupations, is that soldiers are
routinely prepared to kill. In addition to murder and preparing to kill, the soldier has two other
principal duties. Some soldiers die and, when they are not dying, they must be preparing to die. (p.2). I
have been in multiple situations where I have either feared for my life or was ready to die for my
country.
How we were raised
We were all raised differently, but we all joined to serve our country. Regardless, of our Military
Occupation Specialty, we all volunteered for the greater good of the nation. The regular day in the
Army for most Soldiers begins with Physical Readiness Training and ends with cleaning up the area of
operation. That is not always the case with other Soldiers. It all depends on the unit. I remember being
in a Special Forces unit where all we did was a workout and drink beer. I also remember sleeping in a
foxhole in the middle of Iraq in an infantry unit. We are professionals at everything we do. In the
human resources job section in the Army, we always have to be on our toes. ... Show more content on

They need to know where to go and what time to be at a particular place. It s like having a toddler.
You have to teach them how to walk talk and act. Like what one of the army slogans says. I am an
expert and a professional. It also ties in with the Non Commissioned Officers Creed. All Soldiers are
entitled to outstanding leadership, and I will provide that leadership. There is a lot of truth behind this
line. We are always facing challenges in the Army regardless of the branch. It s up to you to make
things happen whether it is your job or at home. The family also plays a big part at us being
professionals at what we do. I just wish that everyone did things the

Lansdowne Research Paper
The Lansdowne Dining Room (1766 1769), as its name suggests, is a dining room from the
Lansdowne house located at the southwest corner of Berkeley Square, in London. This house actually
belonged to two unpopular British statesmen of the eighteenth century, John Stuart (1713 1792) and
William Petty Fitzmaurice (1737 1805). Indeed, Stuart was the third earl of Bute (earl meaning a
British nobleman ranking above a viscount and below a marquess ) until 1763 when he left in political
disgrace and sold the unfinished house to Fitzmaurice who was the second earl of Shelbourne and was
created first marquess of Lansdowne in 1784. He was despised by many contemporaries such as
Henry Fox but his efforts were appreciated abroad as he favored the autonomy for the American
colonies. Lansdowne House ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the room contains a lot of classical elements such as the light colors, delicate ornament,
slender proportions, columns and more details influenced by the Roman and Greek culture, which
makes this room fit into the English Neoclassical period (1770 1820).
Indeed, Robert Adam (1728 92) was the famous architect and designer of the Lansdowne house. He
was one of the architects and designers who brought seriousness to the revival of classicism in
England as he studied the Greek and Roman antiquities, traveled to Italy and worked to reproduce
exactly the original models. He would go to specific temples and specific places in Italy and would
draw detailed drawings of them to keep a record of what he saw and experienced. He is actually a
Scottish architect who worked in partnership with his brother James Adam in their father s firm.
Unlike Kent, Burlington and Jones who had brought to England Palladio s vision of classicism, Robert
Adam brought to England a virtuoso vocabulary of complex interior forms that had not been used

Human Genome Project Paper
The Human Genome Project is a very well known scientific research project made to determine the
sequencing of chemical base pairs which make up human DNA. The Human Genome Project is also
made to identify and map all of the human genes from both physical and functional parts. But how
does this really affect us?
The Human Genome Project has aimed to provide us with detailed information about the Human
Genome. This will be extremely effective towards studying people with specific diseases such as heart
disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension and cystic fibrosis. The DNA sequences of any two people are
actually very alike. The little difference is those that cause a high risk of an individual developing a
certain disease. During the course of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Privacy issues have also been rising throughout the project. Having this information being shared
across governments or companies and the availability of this information for anyone s interest is a
great risk (NLCATP 2015). However, there are many scientists who don t believe in the HGP simply
because no one knows how a single gene change can affect humans. Clearly, if used correctly The
Human Genome Project can become a beneficial factor in curing life threatening diseases. The
information from genetic tests, provided by the scientific community, will be shared with the public
and medical communities. By sharing the information, it helps doctors save lives of patients.
However, sometimes scientists still remain unsure on how to interpret the results of tests. Many
agreements were made during the project, resulting in the publication of scientists findings. By having
the information visible to all, it allows advance understandings and the making of medical advances

Lena Horne
Singer/actress Lena Horne s primary occupation was nightclub entertaining, a profession she pursued
successfully around the world for more than 60 years, from the 1930s to the 1990s. In conjunction
with her club work, she also maintained a recording career that stretched from 1936 to 2000 and
brought her three Grammys, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989; she appeared in 16
feature films and several shorts between 1938 and 1978; she performed occasionally on Broadway,
including in her own Tony winning one woman show, Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music in 1981

Jones owed his job a clerk in the county coroner s office to political patronage. It did not bring in
much money, and in 1938, when Horne was approached by an agent with an offer to co star in a low
budget all black movie musical with a mere ten day shooting schedule in Hollywood, she accepted.
The film was The Duke Is Tops, released in July 1938. Later in the year, Horne was asked to take on a
more time consuming project, a part in a new mounting of producer Lew Leslie s all black musical
revue Blackbirds. Again, she accepted in the name of increasing the family income, spending months
in rehearsals and out of town tryouts before Lew Leslie s Blackbirds of 1939 opened on Broadway on
February 11, 1939. One of Horne s numbers was You re So Indifferent, written by Sammy Fain and
Mitchell Parish, a song she would keep in her repertoire. The show ran only nine performances,
closing February 18.
Horne returned to Pittsburgh, where she temporarily separated from her husband, then reconciled with
him. She began taking singing engagements in the homes of wealthy families in the area. She also
became pregnant again, and her son, Edwin Fletcher ( Teddy ) Jones, was born in February 1940. That

The Type Of A Vector
A vector is a molecule of DNA used as a vehicle to carry foreign DNA to be expressed or replicated
within cells, including viruses and plasmids. Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites that can only
replicate inside a host cell, which are composed of nucleic acids enclosed by a protein coat called a
capsid (Wessner, D. R. 2010). For example, a viral vector is commonly used to transfer genetic
material into a cell. Vectors were discovered and developed to synthesis and produce proteins for
therapeutic use in humans, such as insulin secretion in diabetic patients. Plasmids can also be used

For instance, a technique known as gene therapy is the transfer of genes into a patient s cell as a drug
to treat or prevent a disease. Gene therapy can include replacing a mutated gene, removing a gene or
the addition of a new gene (Hulot et al, 2016). A gene must be transferred from one plasmid to another
in order to give that organism a selective advantage e.g. antibiotic resistance. However, Bacteria have
been industrialized that are resistant to antibiotics such as penicillin which is a result of the misuse of
antibiotics. Resistance arises as changes or mutations within the bacteria s genes develop, which help
bacteria grow that are resistant to antibiotics and therefore have an advantage. From researching
journals, I found that Pseudomonas Aeruginosa resistance poses threats to human and animal health as
the body no longer has the defences to protect against the bacteria. Altogether 77 isolates were tested
and out of 77, 13 where negative for the presence of class 2 integrase gene (Olga et al, 2016). Only the
most beneficial bacteria are selected to carry plasmids and so natural section is an important factor so
that only those of the greatest advantage are selected. There are various different types of plasmids
some of which include F plasmids for expression of the sex pilli, resistant plasmid that provides
resistance against antibiotics or poisons, col plasmid which contain proteins that kill or

The Patient Safety Concern And Quality Improvement Issue (...
Falls in a health care setting are costly to the patient, the health care facility and may affect the
reimbursement that insurance gives to hospitals, yet they are preventable. Falls can be minor with just
a few bumps and bruises or they can be major which can result in death. Not only are falls harmful to
the patient but there is a lot of money and time that gets added up after a fall occurs *** There are
many factors as to why a fall could take place, but being aware of the risk that a patient is a fall risk
from the beginning can help avoid a fall from ever occurring. Accurately identifying a patient as a fall
risk and communicating to other staff within 24 hours of admission is key to help in the prevention of
falls.
Current Knowledge of the Patient Safety Concern/Quality Improvement Issue (State and National
Context)
Falls are one of the most common inpatient adverse events. According to the World Health
Organization, a fall is defined as an event that results in a person coming to rest inadvertently on the
ground or floor or other lower level (WHO 2016). In 2012, the cost of fall injuries totaled more than
$36 billion. As the population ages, the financial toll for older adult falls is projected to reach $59.6
billion by 2020. (NCQA 2015). Fall related injuries account for up to 15 percent of rehospitalizations
in the first month after discharge from hospital (Currie). Based on data from 2000, total annual
estimated costs were between $16 billion and $19

Impact of Globalization on Total Quality Management
Introduction Total quality management (TQM) has been defined as continuous improvement of every
production output whether it be a product or a service, by removing inefficient variations and by
improving the backbone of the work process . International managers like their domestic counterparts
have found that incorporating the notion of total quality management into their management process
and style can give the competitive advantage.
A manager s decision making process regarding new or increased international operations involves
reacting to the environment, seeking competitive advantage globally and assessing the company s
capability in the global context.
Globalization makes managers ask certain questions. These questions include: ... Show more content

Even though some of outcomes of globalization have been controversial, the market has become more
competitive than ever, thus creating the high demand for quality management.
The fact that globalization has expanded the market for organizations means that TQM is more
important than ever before. Customer demands are higher and if a company does not create products
and services that meet their expectations they can easily access the same or similar products and
services from another company. If managers do not implement TQM into their company procedure
then they will fail to meet the high standards of customers all over the world and eventually lose their
business. When it comes to implementing TQM, it s the mangers responsibility to create an
environment where people can work together to improve their work processes. If the ownership or
senior management does not buy into this concept you will never succeed. Many people in leadership
roles are either too set in their ways or closed minded to the necessary change needed to really
improve the way things get done. You have to buy into the concept that there is always a better way to
do something. By tapping into all the knowledge and experience your employees possess, you develop
solutions that not only improve your execution, you provide everyone with a sense of
accomplishment.. These process improvement teams give employees a chance to help steer the future

Wood Framing Research Paper
Wood individuals are sliced and joined to make floors, dividers and the top of a structure as per the
arrangement of construction archives and local building codes. Since the 1830s, two strategies for
wood framing have been utilized to encourage building a structure: balloon framing and platform
framing.
Balloon framing was genuinely well known on the east drift and parts of the Midwest previously.
Today it isn t for the most part permitted by current building codes. Be that as it may, it regards know
about the technique if it is experienced in the field. In this kind of framing the wall stud lays on the sill
plate with a rim joist in the interior side and after that the floor joist. The stud wall is persistent from

The Church Of Jesus Christ
Commonly referred to as Mormons, though they prefer to be known as Latter day Saints. The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was formed in the first half of the nineteenth century by its
founder, Joseph Smith. Smith was said to have been visited by God, the Father, and Jesus Christ after
retreating to the woods to pray for guidance. At the time there were multiple competing facets of
Christianity and Smith was unsure which to join. To answer his question, God and Jesus Christ told
him not to join any of the churches, but to restore the one true church. After Jesus s crucifixion, Latter
day Saints believe the original church fell after followers argued over his teachings leading to the loss
of his true message. Later, Smith was visited by an angel named Moroni, who announced the
existence of two gold plates for him to find. The plates were in an unknown language so, through God
s assistance, Smith translated the plates into English. Once they had been translated, the plates were
taken back by the angel. The translation of the plates came to be known as the Book of Mormon,
which is the groundwork of the church for Latter day Saints. Smith and his followers, due to the
hostility from the local population in New York, left to settle westward where they could practice their
religion freely. Along the journey, Smith was murdered by a mob for his religious beliefs, but his
follower continued on and settled in Utah. On February 14th, I interviewed Kevin Anderson at The

Athletes Should Have Rights Persuasive Speech
The year 2016 had so many tragedies that happened in many states, having some events to not be
forgotten about. Wither its shootings, taking innocent lives, and rights being pushed away. However,
there comes to a point where we need someone to look upon and to take a stand for what the people
believe what s wrong and what s right. Where as sports is all universal language for everyone, it gives
a chance for athletes to speak and to protest their way onto showing, that they too are seeing what we
are seeing. But, it seems that athletes are having a rough time speaking and presenting what s on their

Understudies In The Vietnam War Essay
In 1965, John Tinker, his sister Mary Beth, and a partner were sent home from school for wearing dull
armbands to challenge the Vietnam War. The school had set up a methodology permitting understudies
to wear a couple of political pictures, however had disallowed the wearing of armbands disagreeing
the Vietnam War. Their fathers sued, yet the District Court chose that the school had not dismissed the
Constitution. The Court of Appeals agreed with the lower court, and the Tinkers addressed the
Supreme Court. In a 7 2 decision, the Supreme Court chose that the understudies had the benefit to

Biblical Names In Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon
People choose names for a reason, whether it is so that the child takes on a certain personality, based
on who they are named after, or so that he or she may carry on the name of a beloved family member.
Many names that are popular today are names from the Bible, since most of the biblical characters
possess characteristics that parents would want their child to have. Names like Noah, Jacob, David,
and Miriam, are names currently in the top 1000 child names in the world, and they are all biblical
names. Names from the Bible are also found in many works of literature, like Toni Morrison s Song of
Solomon, a coming of age story about a young man during the mid twentieth century. The reader is
introduced to multiple characters with biblical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both women sacrificed something valuable, Reba her diamond ring and Rebecca her family
relationships, so that their children would be happy. The role of Reba in Song of Solomon is that of a
motherly figure, always putting her children first and not worrying about her own needs. This
description aligns well with biblical Rebecca, who sacrifices her relationship with part of her family in
order to please her son, Jacob. Reba is a kinder and more selfless version of the Bible s version of
Rebecca. Reba s aunt, Ruth Foster, has a name that is also associated with a character in the Bible,
also named Ruth. In the Bible, after her husband died, Ruth faithfully stays with her mother in law,
refusing to leave. One of Ruth s most notable quotes from the Bible is as follows: Do not press me to
leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; Where you lodge, I will lodge;
your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die there will I be
buried. May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you! (Ruth
1:16 17). In this quote, the reader can see that Ruth is willing to stay by her mother in law s side no
matter what, even claiming that she would even die with her. Naomi, her mother in law, is a constant
reminder of Ruth s husband, and she refuses to leave her because Naomi is the only reminder she has
of her late husband. In Song of Solomon, after

Xenophon s View Of Socrates
I will be doing my research paper on the philosopher Socrates, who does not have many things written
by him, because Socrates, instead on writing dialogs and technical works, guided his students to
remember what their soul already knew. Socrates was at first a soldier, who, even though living in
Athens with their high standard and high profile life, chose to be minimalistic in what he wore, or the
way he presented himself. Even though he did not outright say so, it was believed to think that
Socrates did not believe in the standard Athenians view on religion. However, it is well known that
Socrates had a different point of view from the Sophists, although they still respected each other and
conversed with each other in the town square.

I at first, did not believe Socrates, because my argument was, well since the midwife had to put the

her entire life, and so one clearly had to be taught things, when I was proven wrong. I was proven
wrong with the statement: But wasn t the baby in the woman s womb the whole time? A baby is made
out of a fertilized egg, and the egg was in the woman s womb her entire life, meaning Socrates
example is a good one, and his beliefs have truths lying underneath them. That explanation opened my
eyes, and I can now say I believe Socrates spoke truth when he said life is about remembering what

So you don t have time to attend a Time Management seminar, then here are four ideas to help you
create a more productive day. First, the key to such a day is to create more discretionary time and use
it more wisely. Second, remember you are not paid for work, you are paid for results. Third, you need
to control your day instead of it controlling you. The number one idea is to begin by analyzing your
typical day. To do this you need to do a simple Time Log. This is done by taking an 8.5 x 11 sheet of
paper and numbering each line in fifteen minute increments starting with the time you arrive at work.
(Note; do not start when you are supposed to be there but when you actually arrive.) Then, throughout
the day, record your activities. You need to do this for two weeks. Then, look for time wasters and
ways to create more discretionary time.
There are two kinds of time; discretionary meaning you have a choice of how to spend it, and non
discretionary that which is taken up by job functions, meetings, and appointment. Your time

Jessie Pope War Women Analysis
Masculinity and Femininity in Jessie Pope s war poems: War Girls and The Call The world wars have
greatly impacted modern British literature in the 20th century. There were many poems written about
the period of war; some showed them in a positive light and some negative. Gender roles, gender
relations on what means to be a man or a woman impacted greatly during this time. In particular with
World War I, women in large numbers took over jobs in the homeland while the men were out
fighting. Questions on what is femininity and what is masculinity were on the rise. Men were
constantly fed with the idea that they should be drafted into the war. This propaganda was seen
everywhere during this era due to the self interests of the British ... Show more content on

It represents the gender of this person who is doing the jobs like a man. That is not the whole story
because in the 5th line, this gender is called Strong, sensible, and fit, This stands out in the poem as it
follows the rule of 3 of a poem to describe the qualities of the new woman now. It is controversial to
the usual perspective of a woman since these adjectives are associated with a man more than a
woman. This exhibits that the typical views of what femininity is changed during the wartime. The
usage of the word grit in line 6 is also a word associated with masculinity but it is used in the poem to
describe women. The poem also shows femininity to be related to toil because Pope mentions a girl
who does a milk round in the rain (3). The physical hard work of the woman is to be revered
according to Pope. The imagery of not being caged or penned up anymore (7) is a strong one it
explains that the war brought redemption and freedom to women. A definitive declarative statement is
made in the 9th line of the poem, They re going to make their end up , Pope is manifesting her
confidence in the women of Britain who are serving their country by being the workforce. The shift in
the gender roles is empowering for women during the wartime and Pope associates this with
patriotism as well. The heavy van the girl is driving is especially described as heavy because women

Nuclear Weapons And Nuclear Proliferation
Committee 9
Nuclear Proliferation
Vanuatu
(A) Brief Background of the Topic
1.) What is the historical background of this topic?
Nuclear Proliferation is defined as the rapid spread or increase of nuclear weapons. Nuclear
Proliferation has been a conflict worldwide for years. It all started during the Cold War, when the
Soviet Union and the United States competed to obtain more nuclear weapons. As the Cold War
continued, France, Britain, and China all began to develop their own nuclear technology. On July 1,
1968, the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was signed and entered into force in
1970. Under this treaty, a total of 190 parties have agreed to help prevent the spread of nuclear
weapons. A few years later, the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks non proliferation act (SALT 1) was
signed on May 26, 1972 and entered into force on October 3, 1972. After several years of struggle, the
Cold War ended in December 1991.
2.) What nations are directly involved in this issue?
The top contributors of nuclear proliferation include countries like the United States and Russia
(formerly Soviet Union). These two countries were the first to obtain and test nuclear weapons. They
are responsible for more than 93% of all operational nuclear warheads. United Kingdom, France,
China, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea all created nuclear arsenals to attain these weapons of
mass destruction. The United States currently possesses approximately 7,650 warheads, Russia has

Essay About Training For Dogs
Start Leash Training for Dogs With These Tips
Some people would think that dogs innately know how to behave when they are leashed.
Unfortunately, this is one of the many struggles of some dog owners. Although there are breeds that
can easily just surrender themselves to be leashed, some breeds may just want to have their freedom.
However, there will always come a time that your dog needs to be on a leash, particularly when you
want to go outdoors and make sure that your four legged body would not be accidentally hit by a car
or just get lost from too much curiosity of the environment.
Training your dog to walk on a leash may not be as easy, despite being so gentle with your pet. Here
are a few tips that can help you train your dogs to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A bolt snap clip has a small spring inside a shaft that slides open to create a hole to let the collar ring
pass through. This is more commonly used, however, after using the clip for a long time can result in
loosing of the spring which can let your dog escape. A trigger snap clip, on the other hand, is bigger
and more robust. Therefore, between the two clips, the trigger snap clip is more reliable.
Steps on How to Train Your Dog with a Leash
It is best to start leash training while your dog is just a few months old. This way, puppies are much
easier to train.
1. Once you have chosen the right leash, take your time in training your dog. Get your dog familiar
having a collar around its neck. Never try to force it on the dog in situations where your dog is fearful
or having tantrums. You can slip it on while your dog is busy playing. Make sure that the collar is snug
enough, but not too tight that could make your dog uncomfortable.
In time, your dog will feel comfortable having the collar and leash on him.
2. If your dog scratches on the collar, it may mean that he is getting uncomfortable. This is normal.
Instead of taking it out, make him busy by playing with him so he forgets about having to scratch the
collar.
3. Let your dog run around with the leash on his collar. This will slowly make him comfortable and
would easily associate having the leash during his playtime. So, the next time he sees you holding the
leash, instead of

The right to die debate has been an ongoing dispute between opposing sides of this controversial topic.
The right to die is the decision made by an individual to die with dignity when they are still capable of
continuing their life with the necessary support and equipment. It is a voluntary decision by an
individual who is regarded as terminally ill to commit suicide with the refusal of any type of life

Essay about The Notorious Al Capone
The popular image of the 1920s is of an alcohol soaked, jazz enriched, and senseless society that was
full of crime. Morally minded citizens tried to solve the growing problem of drunkenness by pushing
their efforts to end this behavior. This crusade gained steam in 1920 when the US outlawed the
manufacture and sale of liquor which was amended into the Constitution. What was supposed to end
this wild behavior of mindless drinking and crime spawned new economic problems and gang wars in
major cities around America. What was known as the prohibition era entrenched a network of

would be the major source of income for Capone during the years of prohibition. Politicians, law
enforcement and regular citizens would visit these establishments to grab a drink then the next day

this era and rose the power of Capone and his accomplices. Capone was already rising in power in the
1920s but the 18th amendment fueled rise of violence in Capone like yeast in bread. Knowing that law

enforcement in his area, he could plan raids to destroy other rival gang s illegal establishments.

Last semester, one of my sociology professors showed us a documentary called The End of Suburbia:
Oil Depletion and the Collapse of The American Dream. It s a Canadian documentary that was
released in 2004 and it even won a few awards.
One of the main subjects this documentary talks about is the peak oil phenomenon. According to many
geoscientists, geologists and other members of the scientific community, oil production is supposed to
peak. After this peak, we should start to see production drop as the oil becomes harder to extract and
refine. Some think that we have already peaked, others think that production is currently peaking.
Recently, there have also been some people in the financial industry who are saying that the peak oil

I enjoyed riding my bike around my quiet neighborhood and playing with my friends at the park was
always loads of fun. However, this documentary clearly has a more critical perspective on suburbia.
Originally, suburbia was supposed to be a form of country living in proximity to the city. The first
suburban communities in the U.S. were just small towns located just outside of the city center and
many of them were connected to the downtown core with light rail transit ways. They were very
similar to any other rural town. The little shops created a small town atmosphere and I assume that
some of these suburbs even had their own municipal councils. They must have been great places to
live in, but only the upper middle class could afford to live in these quaint communities.
The concept of suburbia quickly morphed into something far different from country living. Over the
years, urban sprawl has created vast suburbs. Instead of local shops, the suburbs we know today have
large malls full of box stores. Highways connect our suburbs to the city center instead of railways and
the modern suburb doesn t have the same sense of community that the original suburbs had. According
to the documentary, suburban life and everything that comes with it has been packaged and sold in
bulk to many Americans and Canadians. And this package we call The American Dream , which is
simply of a mockery or a satire of what the original suburbs used to be like, is

core will cease. This cessation causes the core to begin to fall on itself, generating heat. Within other
stellar layers, there is still sufficient hydrogen to continue fusing hydrogen into helium. The higher
location in which the fusion occurs causes the other layers of the star to increase in size. The star is
now referred to as a red giant ( Stars ). After this stage occurs and the star reaches the proper density,
the helium in the star will begin to be fused into carbon. This helium burning phase usually lasts about
100 million years ( Life ). Once the helium fuel source is exhausted, the star will become a red
supergiant, which will only live for a few tens of thousands of years ( Life ). However, as the star
expands, it becomes increasingly unstable. Sudden energy surges rip through the star and start to blow

Essay on The Emergence of the Chartist Movement
The People s Charter, drafted in 1838 by William Lovett and Francis Place was at the heart of a radical
campaign for parliamentary reform of the inequity remaining after the Reform Act of 1832. The
charter contained six points that were to be presented to parliament, these where:
ol
li value= 1 Universal Suffrage
li value= 2 No Property qualifications
li value= 3 Annual Parliaments
li value= 4 Equal representation (constituencies of equal size)
li value= 5 Payment of members
li value= 6 Vote by ballot
/ol
Two national petitions incorporating the six points above were presented to parliament in May 1839
and May 1842, the first signed by 1.3 million people and the second signed by 3.3 million. The ...

When the reform act emerged the working classes where dissatisfied as the act which promised so
much delivered very little.
The act did not enfranchise the working classes and the attitude of the Whig government in power
offered little hope to the working classes of them achieving the right to vote, this split the working
class and set the working class against the government.
Hostility between the working classes and the government intensified further with the implementation
of the poor law in 1832. The aim of the poor law was to reduce the burden of costs to the ratepayers,
remove inefficiency and end the giving of relief to those
in their own homes and insist that they enter the workhouse if in need of help or support. This new act
led to fear and suspicion as the workingman was being punished by the upper class as well as a
distinction between the `deserving and `undeserving poor. They saw this as being punished for being
poor.
The Poor Law Amendment act Passed Stated That:
No able bodied person was to receive money or other help from the Poor Law authorities except in a
workhouse;
Conditions in workhouses were to be made very harsh to discourage people from wanting to receive
help;
Workhouses were to be built in every parish or, if parishes were too small, in unions of parishes;
Ratepayers in each parish or union had to elect a Board of Guardians to supervise the workhouse, to
collect the Poor Rate and to send reports to the Central

Summer Holidays
Summary The article, Should children study in the summer holidays? (Jackson, 2017) discusses the
pros and cons of continuing a child s education throughout their summer vacation. In favor of this idea
was Vivien Stiles, a professional tutor for Kumon, who argued that studying over the summer would
help children ease back into a full school year. Stiles continued to explain the program as a two day
school week which teaches Mathematics and English. The average time it takes for each student to
complete their homework for their class is between 15 and 90 minutes. Others, like Tanith Carey, fear
that extending classroom education into the summer may overwhelm some young minds. She
explained how her daughter felt so overwhelmed by her education experience she tried to deny an
award she won because there was too much that surrounded the acceptance of that award. Once Carey
realized how much stress the extra schooling during the summer was causing her daughter, she
removed her from the tutoring program so she could play and experience a stress free childhood. Over
years the results have been quite positive for Carey and her two daughters as they have both found
passions in the arts and are leading healthy happy lives. She stresses the importance of learning not
only in classrooms, but through nature, exploring, and experiencing the natural environment around
them. According to Carey some parents are overlooking how much their children really learn when
they are able to explore

Vaclav And Lena
The novel of Vaclav and Lena written by Halley Tanner exemplifies how it is inevitable for human
beings to experience twists and turns within a relationship. Two close friends, Vaclav and Lena reunite
after nine years and because of this reunion, Vaclav needs to make important decision of whether he
wants to dedicate his time with Lena or his girlfriend Ryan: Lindsey saw you, she [Ryan] says. What?
Vaclav says. Lindsey saw you sitting with that girl. In Fort Greene park. What? he says. She saw you
with some girl with frizzy hair. This is the first time Vaclav has realized that Lena and Ryan might be
mutually exclusive. Ryan has tears in her eyes. (234) As I read this section over and over again, I start

In my eighth grade, there were tons of people who were in a relationship with each other, and that was
actually quite astonishing being that there were only 50 students in my grade. I soon came to realize
how many of these people genuinely seem to have little to no idea on how a relationship works. I can
not rightfully speak about how to be an ideal boyfriend or anything but I can have knowledge on the
things that people should not do. From my experience, there was a new girl in our grade and after a
month she dated this one guy. The teenage life is complicated yet questionable. The guy simply asked
the new girl to date her, as a joke, and the girl actually accepted it. Of course, this was absurd and I
was completely dubious of their relationship as the guy just didn t seem to have true feelings for the
girl and vice versa. The guy simply did it out of the pleasure of having a girlfriend and seeming part of
the teen culture of dating. Two weeks after dating, the couple decided to break up and it seemed
normal and both really had any regret about the breakup since both had

Understanding Black Holes Essay
Like the boundaries on earth, mankind has always looked to the sky in awe for it seemed boundless in
its ever growing horizon. Out of all the cosmos that s being found and discovered every day, there is
one object that stands to elude scientists still, the black hole. Albert Einstein, and all the brilliant
scientists after his, help to design and create a part of the universe that s very crucial to understanding
existence. The perimeters of a black hole have been a great this that has been discussed and observed
to the point where it eventually becomes clear as its compared to objects around or like it. The physics
of the black holes existence is still unclear for it shows properties that support Einstein s theory and

(Clegg, Brian)
Karl Schwarzschild found a solution to Einstein s theory, if enough matter was packed in to a small
region of space, he said, it should have a strong enough gravitational field that even light couldn t
escape it. Roy Kerr stated that the bigger the star, the greater the drag on the space time around it. But
later his equations were looked at again and it was shown that this theory would be applied to black
holes. 1971, an x ray satellite, Uhuru, had spotted a flicking that was shown by a binary star system of
a white supergiant and a black hole. The black hole was taking the gas that was being emitted by the
white supergiant and while the gas spiraled in to it, spurts of gas were ripped from the faster then the
speed of light. Stephen Hawking shows that black holes may not be black: they may emit a form of
radiation that will eventually cause them to evaporate. (Black Hole Encyclopedia yr. 1974) this type of
radiation was coined as hawking radiation, for it stated that when hawking particles were near the
event horizon, the negatively charged side would fall in while the positive flew out, making the
firewall paradox. (Black hole Encyclopedia)
The problem with the black hole is the understanding of where does the information go after it s eaten,
thus, the information paradox. The firewall paradox is one of the two that should happen, but don t.
The process of the firewall is when a

Differences Of Romance, History And History
The notions of romance , history and novel were often replaceable during the end of the seventeenth
century and the beginning of the eighteenth century. On the one hand, there was a disposition to use
the term romance as a synonym of history. On the other hand, there was also a certain inclination for
using romance and history as two contrary concepts that proceeds into the need to discover the
distinctions and similarities between romance and history, that is, to differentiate between what was
perceived as invented and fictional events; and true facts and related to history (Mckeon).
This unclear cut distinction between facts and fiction generated a kind of disorder in the literary world
during the Restoration period so, writers thought that it was crucial to throw some light on what works

This quotation underlines the adventures of a knight who seeks to bring justice to the world, rescuing
damsels in distress situations and fighting against villains. In these struggles there is a triumph of the
knight who adopts the role of hero and moves around marvellous elements. Northrop Frye indicates
these two features in this definition of romance:
... the hero is the typical hero of romance, whose actions are marvelous but who is himself identified
as a human being. The hero of romance moves in a world in which the ordinary laws of nature are
slightly suspended: prodigies of courage and endurance, unnatural to us, are natural to him, and
enchanted weapons, talking animals, terrifying ogres and witches, and talismans of miraculous power
violate no rule of probability once the postulates of romance have been established.

The Standards Of The Standard Oil Company
In the 1870 s through the 1900 s, the Standard Oil Company (SOC) has been the largest company in
one of the most rich industries in the world. The Standard Oil Company held a monopoly over the
entire industry, which meant that their wide variety of products must have been essential to many
types of people and industries. The SOC s ability to spread awareness of their company and their
products is a main reason why they became so powerful. The Standard Oil Company would not be
nearly as successful as it was if not for its widespread consumer base, the company became one of the
largest in history. This success lead it s CEO and founder, John D. Rockefeller, to become one of the
most rich people to ever live; he also gave away an extremely large portion of his wealth and make the
world a better place. Another way that the company s massive amount of various customers allowed
them to succeed is because oil has numerous uses and their products appealed to a wide variety of
people. This fact is important because oil s many different uses made it extremely appealing and
marketable to numerous and various audiences, thus allowing the company that controlled the industry
to skyrocket and create a monopoly. A monopoly had never really been done before in history and
with the huge amount of wealth it created for certain individuals, the wealthy were able to change the
world. Oil also led the world to many technological advancements and because of the current decrease

  • 2. Army Profession Of Arms Essay The Roles in the Army in the Profession of Arms In the first section The Army as a Profession of Arms, Toner (2010) said, The preeminent military task, and what separates the military profession from all other occupations, is that soldiers are routinely prepared to kill. In addition to murder and preparing to kill, the soldier has two other principal duties. Some soldiers die and, when they are not dying, they must be preparing to die. (p.2). I have been in multiple situations where I have either feared for my life or was ready to die for my country. How we were raised We were all raised differently, but we all joined to serve our country. Regardless, of our Military Occupation Specialty, we all volunteered for the greater good of the nation. The regular day in the Army for most Soldiers begins with Physical Readiness Training and ends with cleaning up the area of operation. That is not always the case with other Soldiers. It all depends on the unit. I remember being in a Special Forces unit where all we did was a workout and drink beer. I also remember sleeping in a foxhole in the middle of Iraq in an infantry unit. We are professionals at everything we do. In the human resources job section in the Army, we always have to be on our toes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of truth behind this line. We are always facing challenges in the Army regardless of the branch. It s up to you to make things happen whether it is your job or at home. The family also plays a big part at us being professionals at what we do. I just wish that everyone did things the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Lansdowne Research Paper The Lansdowne Dining Room (1766 1769), as its name suggests, is a dining room from the Lansdowne house located at the southwest corner of Berkeley Square, in London. This house actually belonged to two unpopular British statesmen of the eighteenth century, John Stuart (1713 1792) and William Petty Fitzmaurice (1737 1805). Indeed, Stuart was the third earl of Bute (earl meaning a British nobleman ranking above a viscount and below a marquess ) until 1763 when he left in political disgrace and sold the unfinished house to Fitzmaurice who was the second earl of Shelbourne and was created first marquess of Lansdowne in 1784. In fact, the room contains a lot of classical elements such as the light colors, delicate ornament, slender proportions, columns and more details influenced by the Roman and Greek culture, which makes this room fit into the English Neoclassical period (1770 1820). Indeed, Robert Adam (1728 92) was the famous architect and designer of the Lansdowne house. He was one of the architects and designers who brought seriousness to the revival of classicism in England as he studied the Greek and Roman antiquities, traveled to Italy and worked to reproduce exactly the original models. He would go to specific temples and specific places in Italy and would draw detailed drawings of them to keep a record of what he saw and experienced. He is actually a Scottish architect who worked in partnership with his brother James Adam in their father s firm. Unlike Kent, Burlington and Jones who had brought to England Palladio s vision of classicism, Robert Adam brought to England a virtuoso vocabulary of complex interior forms that had not been used since ... The Human Genome Project is also made to identify and map all of the human genes from both physical and functional parts. But how does this really affect us? The Human Genome Project has aimed to provide us with detailed information about the Human Genome. This will be extremely effective towards studying people with specific diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension and cystic fibrosis. Clearly, if used correctly The Human Genome Project can become a beneficial factor in curing life threatening diseases. The information from genetic tests, provided by the scientific community, will be shared with the public and medical communities. By sharing the information, it helps doctors save lives of patients. However, sometimes scientists still remain unsure on how to interpret the results of tests. Many agreements were made during the project, resulting in the publication of scientists findings. Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites that can only replicate inside a host cell, which are composed of nucleic acids enclosed by a protein coat called a capsid (Wessner, D. R. 2010). For example, a viral vector is commonly used to transfer genetic material into a cell. Vectors were discovered and developed to synthesis and produce proteins for therapeutic use in humans, such as insulin secretion in diabetic patients. Gene therapy can include replacing a mutated gene, removing a gene or the addition of a new gene (Hulot et al, 2016). A gene must be transferred from one plasmid to another in order to give that organism a selective advantage e.g. antibiotic resistance. However, Bacteria have been industrialized that are resistant to antibiotics such as penicillin which is a result of the misuse of antibiotics. Resistance arises as changes or mutations within the bacteria s genes develop, which help bacteria grow that are resistant to antibiotics and therefore have an advantage. From researching journals, I found that Pseudomonas Aeruginosa resistance poses threats to human and animal health as the body no longer has the defences to protect against the bacteria. If managers do not implement TQM into their company procedure then they will fail to meet the high standards of customers all over the world and eventually lose their business. When it comes to implementing TQM, it s the mangers responsibility to create an environment where people can work together to improve their work processes. If the ownership or senior management does not buy into this concept you will never succeed. Many people in leadership roles are either too set in their ways or closed minded to the necessary change needed to really improve the way things get done. • 18. The Church Of Jesus Christ Commonly referred to as Mormons, though they prefer to be known as Latter day Saints. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was formed in the first half of the nineteenth century by its founder, Joseph Smith. Smith was said to have been visited by God, the Father, and Jesus Christ after retreating to the woods to pray for guidance. At the time there were multiple competing facets of Christianity and Smith was unsure which to join. To answer his question, God and Jesus Christ told him not to join any of the churches, but to restore the one true church. After Jesus s crucifixion, Latter day Saints believe the original church fell after followers argued over his teachings leading to the loss of his true message. Later, Smith was visited by an angel named Moroni, who announced the existence of two gold plates for him to find. The plates were in an unknown language so, through God s assistance, Smith translated the plates into English. Once they had been translated, the plates were taken back by the angel. The translation of the plates came to be known as the Book of Mormon, which is the groundwork of the church for Latter day Saints. Smith and his followers, due to the hostility from the local population in New York, left to settle westward where they could practice their religion freely. Along the journey, Smith was murdered by a mob for his religious beliefs, but his follower continued on and settled in Utah. On February 14th, I interviewed Kevin Anderson at The ... This description aligns well with biblical Rebecca, who sacrifices her relationship with part of her family in order to please her son, Jacob. Reba is a kinder and more selfless version of the Bible s version of Rebecca. Reba s aunt, Ruth Foster, has a name that is also associated with a character in the Bible, also named Ruth. In the Bible, after her husband died, Ruth faithfully stays with her mother in law, refusing to leave. One of Ruth s most notable quotes from the Bible is as follows: Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you! May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you! (Ruth 1:16 17). In this quote, the reader can see that Ruth is willing to stay by her mother in law s side no matter what, even claiming that she would even die with her. First, the key to such a day is to create more discretionary time and use it more wisely. Second, remember you are not paid for work, you are paid for results. Third, you need to control your day instead of it controlling you. The number one idea is to begin by analyzing your typical day. To do this you need to do a simple Time Log. This is done by taking an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and numbering each line in fifteen minute increments starting with the time you arrive at work. (Note; do not start when you are supposed to be there but when you actually arrive.) Then, throughout the day, record your activities. You need to do this for two weeks. Then, look for time wasters and ways to create more discretionary time. There are two kinds of time; discretionary meaning you have a choice of how to spend it, and non discretionary that which is taken up by job functions, meetings, and appointment. Your time ... It s a Canadian documentary that was released in 2004 and it even won a few awards. One of the main subjects this documentary talks about is the peak oil phenomenon. According to many geoscientists, geologists and other members of the scientific community, oil production is supposed to peak. After this peak, we should start to see production drop as the oil becomes harder to extract and refine. Some think that we have already peaked, others think that production is currently peaking. Recently, there have also been some people in the financial industry who are saying that the peak oil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I enjoyed riding my bike around my quiet neighborhood and playing with my friends at the park was always loads of fun. However, this documentary clearly has a more critical perspective on suburbia. Originally, suburbia was supposed to be a form of country living in proximity to the city. The first suburban communities in the U.S. were just small towns located just outside of the city center and many of them were connected to the downtown core with light rail transit ways. They were very similar to any other rural town. The little shops created a small town atmosphere and I assume that some of these suburbs even had their own municipal councils. They must have been great places to live in, but only the upper middle class could afford to live in these quaint communities. The concept of suburbia quickly morphed into something far different from country living. Over the years, urban sprawl has created vast suburbs. Instead of local shops, the suburbs we know today have large malls full of box stores. Highways connect our suburbs to the city center instead of railways and the modern suburb doesn t have the same sense of community that the original suburbs had. According to the documentary, suburban life and everything that comes with it has been packaged and sold in bulk to many Americans and Canadians. And this package we call The American Dream , which is simply of a mockery or a satire of what the original suburbs used to be like, is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Process of The Life Cycle of A Star Essay Professor Lawrence Krauss claims that, In our galaxy, there are over 100 billion stars alone. ( Extreme ). Each one of those stars is a factory which slowly builds the materials for the foundations of the universe ( Stars ). Stars are as varied as people. While they are all born the same way, they do not all die the same way. Some stars live fast and die young; others die slowly and quietly ( Extreme ). The life cycle of a star is violent, they churn, pulsate, and sometimes explode, but the products of its life are invaluable building blocks for the Universe. There is a process to the life cycle of a star. The birth of a star is a process completely fueled by gravity ( Life ). All stars are born in something called a nebula, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The evolution of a star s birth is a slow process. It can take up to fifty million years for a star the size of our sun to fully mature (Redd). Many stars then go on to live long and brilliant lives, although not always ( Stars ). {Two new paragraphs: Main Sequence, and Post Main Sequence evolution) The deaths of stars come in two varieties. The first variety is that of a slow fading into oblivion. After a long period of time, all of the hydrogen inside the core of a star will be drained, and the hydrogen fusion process within the core will cease. This cessation causes the core to begin to fall on itself, generating heat. Within other stellar layers, there is still sufficient hydrogen to continue fusing hydrogen into helium. The higher location in which the fusion occurs causes the other layers of the star to increase in size. The star is now referred to as a red giant ( Stars ). After this stage occurs and the star reaches the proper density, the helium in the star will begin to be fused into carbon. This helium burning phase usually lasts about 100 million years ( Life ). Once the helium fuel source is exhausted, the star will become a red supergiant, which will only live for a few tens of thousands of years ( Life ). However, as the star expands, it becomes increasingly unstable. Sudden energy surges rip through the star and start to blow away its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The act did not enfranchise the working classes and the attitude of the Whig government in power offered little hope to the working classes of them achieving the right to vote, this split the working class and set the working class against the government. Hostility between the working classes and the government intensified further with the implementation of the poor law in 1832. The aim of the poor law was to reduce the burden of costs to the ratepayers, remove inefficiency and end the giving of relief to those in their own homes and insist that they enter the workhouse if in need of help or support. This new act led to fear and suspicion as the workingman was being punished by the upper class as well as a distinction between the `deserving and `undeserving poor. They saw this as being punished for being poor. The Poor Law Amendment act Passed Stated That: No able bodied person was to receive money or other help from the Poor Law authorities except in a workhouse; Conditions in workhouses were to be made very harsh to discourage people from wanting to receive help;

  • 41. Summer Holidays Summary The article, Should children study in the summer holidays? (Jackson, 2017) discusses the pros and cons of continuing a child s education throughout their summer vacation. In favor of this idea was Vivien Stiles, a professional tutor for Kumon, who argued that studying over the summer would help children ease back into a full school year. Stiles continued to explain the program as a two day school week which teaches Mathematics and English. The average time it takes for each student to complete their homework for their class is between 15 and 90 minutes. Others, like Tanith Carey, fear that extending classroom education into the summer may overwhelm some young minds. She explained how her daughter felt so overwhelmed by her education experience she tried to deny an award she won because there was too much that surrounded the acceptance of that award. Once Carey realized how much stress the extra schooling during the summer was causing her daughter, she removed her from the tutoring program so she could play and experience a stress free childhood. Over years the results have been quite positive for Carey and her two daughters as they have both found passions in the arts and are leading healthy happy lives. She stresses the importance of learning not only in classrooms, but through nature, exploring, and experiencing the natural environment around them. According to Carey some parents are overlooking how much their children really learn when they are able to explore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I can not rightfully speak about how to be an ideal boyfriend or anything but I can have knowledge on the things that people should not do. From my experience, there was a new girl in our grade and after a month she dated this one guy. The teenage life is complicated yet questionable. The guy simply asked the new girl to date her, as a joke, and the girl actually accepted it. Of course, this was absurd and I was completely dubious of their relationship as the guy just didn t seem to have true feelings for the girl and vice versa. Out of all the cosmos that s being found and discovered every day, there is one object that stands to elude scientists still, the black hole. Albert Einstein, and all the brilliant scientists after his, help to design and create a part of the universe that s very crucial to understanding existence. (Clegg, Brian) Karl Schwarzschild found a solution to Einstein s theory, if enough matter was packed in to a small region of space, he said, it should have a strong enough gravitational field that even light couldn t escape it. Roy Kerr stated that the bigger the star, the greater the drag on the space time around it. But later his equations were looked at again and it was shown that this theory would be applied to black holes. 1971, an x ray satellite, Uhuru, had spotted a flicking that was shown by a binary star system of a white supergiant and a black hole. The black hole was taking the gas that was being emitted by the white supergiant and while the gas spiraled in to it, spurts of gas were ripped from the faster then the speed of light. Stephen Hawking shows that black holes may not be black: they may emit a form of radiation that will eventually cause them to evaporate. (Black Hole Encyclopedia yr. 1974) this type of radiation was coined as hawking radiation, for it stated that when hawking particles were near the event horizon, the negatively charged side would fall in while the positive flew out, making the firewall paradox. (Black hole Encyclopedia) The problem with the black hole is the understanding of where does the information go after it s eaten, thus, the information paradox. • 45. Differences Of Romance, History And History The notions of romance , history and novel were often replaceable during the end of the seventeenth century and the beginning of the eighteenth century. On the one hand, there was a disposition to use the term romance as a synonym of history. On the other hand, there was also a certain inclination for using romance and history as two contrary concepts that proceeds into the need to discover the distinctions and similarities between romance and history, that is, to differentiate between what was perceived as invented and fictional events; and true facts and related to history (Mckeon). This unclear cut distinction between facts and fiction generated a kind of disorder in the literary world during the Restoration period so, writers thought that it was crucial to throw some light on what works contain real facts or invented ... Northrop Frye indicates these two features in this definition of romance: ... the hero is the typical hero of romance, whose actions are marvelous but who is himself identified as a human being. The hero of romance moves in a world in which the ordinary laws of nature are slightly suspended: prodigies of courage and endurance, unnatural to us, are natural to him, and enchanted weapons, talking animals, terrifying ogres and witches, and talismans of miraculous power violate no rule of probability once the postulates of romance have been established. ... The Standard Oil Company held a monopoly over the entire industry, which meant that their wide variety of products must have been essential to many types of people and industries. The SOC s ability to spread awareness of their company and their products is a main reason why they became so powerful. The Standard Oil Company would not be nearly as successful as it was if not for its widespread consumer base, the company became one of the largest in history. This success lead it s CEO and founder, John D. Rockefeller, to become one of the most rich people to ever live; he also gave away an extremely large portion of his wealth and make the world a better place. Another way that the company s massive amount of various customers allowed them to succeed is because oil has numerous uses and their products appealed to a wide variety of people. This fact is important because oil s many different uses made it extremely appealing and marketable to numerous and various audiences, thus allowing the company that controlled the industry to skyrocket and create a monopoly.
