How Did The American Revolution Influence Louis Xvi
In 1770, Louis XVI married Marie Antoinette of Austria. Marie was the daughter of the Austrian
Archduchess and the Holy Roman Emperor. Their marriage was to strengthen the alliance between
France and Austria, longtime enemies. With the death of Louis XV in 1774, Louis XVI and Marie
Antoinette became king and queen. Louis XVI had no interest in engaging with Marie Antoinette. This
lead to no children until seven years after their wedding. Each had their own spare time at which they
could partake in everyday things that each other enjoys. Louis XIV enjoyed making locks from
scratch. He also enjoyed carpentry. While Louis was busy making locks, Marie was busy living a
luxurious life in the palace. She ate well and wasn t afraid of using money ... Show more content on

Although Marie showed little interest in learning about the people of France; Louis was well educated
and advocated the abolition serfdom and an increase of religious toleration. He supported the
American Revolution in hopes of weakening the British Empire. France was irritated that their money
was being used to aide foreign wars. The population of France soon blamed the king for inaction and
revolutionary ideas became to form. Marie was actually a nice person, she was just ignorant to those
who didn t have the luxuries that she did. Politics of the time nicknamed her Madame Deficit because
of her spending habits. The only crime that Marie was guilty of at that time was her insensitivity to the
value of money. On the 20th of December in 1778, Marie had her first child, a daughter, Marie
Therese. To France this wasn t the greatest news because they needed a son to be a heir. Marie didn t
mind though because a daughter she could keep for herself; but a son belonged to the nation. Three
years later though the couple had the long awaited son, Louis

How Did Trepkowski Affect The World
Tadeusz Trepkowski was the first Polish poster designer to emerge after WWII who lived from 1915
until 1954, unfortunately dying at the young age of forty. (RoGallery) His training evolved from his
education at Printing Industry School and City College of Decorative Arts and Painting in Warsaw.
(RoGallery, 2013) Trepkowski s anti war, publicity, and political poster art became very prominent
after WWII when the poster became a great source of national pride for Poland (Meggs, Philip and
Alston Purvis, 2012) and became very important for communications (Meggs, Philip and Alston

Freedom, And Freedom In The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption is a high quality film with many themes, that are going to be explored.
There are themes in any form of entertainment. But, the Shawshank Redemption is much different, in
that is so packed full of them, that there is no good place to start looking for them. For that matter,
there also is no right answer in which themes are the most important. Therefore, the Shawshank
Redemption s most important themes are freedom and confinement, transformation, and hope.
Freedom and confinement is the third most important theme in the movie, the Shawshank
Redemption. There are many aspects of the inmates talking about what freedom is like, and how they
are confined to Shawshank prison for a long time. In Shawshank they quite literally cannot do
anything they want, they have to ask for everything. This can be no better seen than when Captain
Byron Hadley said, You eat when we say you eat! You s*** when we say you s***! You p*** when
we say you p***! Not only is this line of thought present in a fictional prison, but also in real life.
There are TV shows out there that follow the cops of real life prisons, and real life prisoners do not
have much more freedom. Then again, all things considered, prisoners have some freedoms, mainly in
what they do during their yard times. The people who have it the worst, the one s who have it like the
quote, are the people who live under complete dictatorships. They cannot do anything, and I mean
anything without the consent of

Strictly Ballroom Analysis Essay
Baz Lurhmann, a former opera director started his film making career with Strictly Ballroom. The
success of this film, described by Baz Lurhmann himself as a sugary chunk of feel good fudge , and
the little film that could , provided a springboard to bigger things for this director who wanted to
shower audiences with style and spectacle. Nothing is too loud, grand or colourful; no literary source
too precious or revered for Lurhmann whose trademarks are exaggeration, bright, loud and
exuberance.
The first in Luhrmann s red curtain trilogy, Strictly Ballroom became the seventh most successful film
of all time at the Australian box office and a cult hit in America. He took on Shakespeare in his second
film, Romeo Juliet and followed that up by adapting one of America s most acclaimed novels, The
Great Gatsby, and turned it into a glitter dowsed party, embracing the champagne infused emptiness
author F. Scott Fitzgerald so famously denounced.

In Strictly Ballroom, the opening is comedic and colorful. Establishing this mood suggests to his
audience the film is a comedy and will end happily. In Romeo Juliet, the opening montage is epic,
jarring, enthralling, ominous, and spectacular. Luhrmann uses a lot of rapid cuts, vibrant color, and
operatic music to create intensity and set an uneasy tone. This opening prepares the audience for the
film and its sad conclusion. And in Great Gatsby, in using a number from 1923 by Irving Berlin, he
sets the time period with a slow romantic feel soft dissolves showing framed images of Daisy and we
are aware of a love that is lost. The first party scene he once again employs fast disjointed edits, a
brashness that is at odds with the love story and again, he lets us know that there will be no happy

Literary Themes In The Hunger Games
Misfortunate At It s Finest Imagine living in a world, where one s basic freedom s no longer persist.
One cannot speak one s mind freely, without fear of consequence. Due to the fact that one s words
could have one s self gravely beaten, or even killed. Imagine living in a world, where being hungry is
habitual. Where having food on the table is nonexistent and hunger bellies is persistent. Imagine living
in a world, where your son or daughter has to fight to the death to become a victor. This is the reality
for those who inhabit the twelve districts. They suffer the consequences of those before them, and as a

result of their love, they received sponsors. Which was greatly needed, to nurse Peeta back to health.
Their kiss result in the form of soup for Peeta. Their love symbolized hope for the districts. After
Katniss decided to not play their game with Rue s burial; riots resulted in eleven. The game leaders
wanted her done with, but Haymitch implored them to continue to sell the star crossed lovers act.
They agreed, but it came with a cost for them in the end. The star crossed lovers agreed both or either
would win the games. The pair would rather perish, rather than one of them regin victor. Which leads
us to question can love conquer all battles? Katniss Peeta love won the battle of the capital. They
managed to outsmart the game rulers. At the end of the day, the capital must have a victor; they
wouldn t let the two die. Lastly, this film displays that one can never give up on hope. One might be at
the lowest point in their life, but with hope on one s side the impossible is possible. Hope after the

Heteronormativity In The Media Essay
Historically, societies have divided the sexes into male and female and assigned specific gender roles
for each group to perform . Alternative sexual practices outside of the norm were considered
unacceptable and abnormal. These ideologies of heteronormativity have been reinforced throughout
various social institutions including media where heteronormative portrayals have been considered
standards. Furthermore, as Rogers mentioned, Commonly intertwined with such heterocentrism are
values celebrating heterosexuality as normal and natural while condemning or at least rejecting
lesbigay sexualities. (Rogers 72). Heteronormativity is largely depicted in the media and reinforce
dominant norms of society, which portray heterosexual romantic relationships ... Show more content

My father, who started watching the show partly because my brother and I love the show and it was on
television right after dinner time when everyone got together and watched television, was not too
familiar with other media representations of gays and lesbians so he said that he is unsure of whether
or not there are similarities or differences in homosexual representations from other media texts.
However, Kaitlin and my brother both claimed that there is a significant difference between other
media products and Glee in their representations of the kinds of physical affection displayed during
the show. Specifically, Kaitlin says there are numerous scenes where Brittana and Klaine really kisses
each other, not just one of those passionless pecks that are shown in other shows between gay couples
(Kaitlin). Brittana is the name referring to the lesbian couple in the show Brittany and Santana, and
Klaine refers to the gay couple Blaine and Kurt. Similarly, Kevin said that there seems to be much
more scenes where homosexual couples have physical contacts with each other, as opposed to in other
shows that he has watched where romance between gay couples were very limited. There may, of
course, be media texts where physical affection is displayed of homosexual couples, but among those
that were familiar to my interviewees, there seems to be rarely any depictions of physical contact
among gay couples to show their love for one

The Elaine Race Riots
The Elaine Race Riots The Elaine Race Riot can be even said as the Elaine massacre that had taken
place on September 30, 1919, in Elaine in Phillips County, Arkansas, in the Arkansas Delta. The fight
started when around 100 African Americans, commonly black farmers on the farms of white landlords
joined a consultation of the Progressive Farmers and the Household Union of America at a church in
Hoop Spur, the Phillips County that was three miles north of Elaine. The assembly was managed by
Robert Hill; he was the organizer of the Progressive Farmers and the Household Union of America.
The main goal of the meeting was that one of the numerous black sharecroppers in the Elaine area
during the former months was achieving better payments for their cotton crops from the white farm
owners who conquered the area during the Jim Crow s era. The poor Black sharecroppers were
frequently browbeaten in their hard work to collect payment for their cotton crops. The whites didn t
like that the blacks were receiving a higher amount of wages than them, so the whites attacked such
consolidation that was done by blacks, and the two groups swapped firing into the night. The two
white men procured it upon themselves to show up, one was a deputy sheriff, and the other was a
railroad employee who attended it. It was all after that, that the combat had taken place. The escorts
who were standing shot one of the white men. It resulted in the death of one of the white officers. A

Arizona Statehood and Constitution
Part I: Arizona Statehood It is quite a remarkable journey that Arizona embarked upon to make it the
forty eight state of the United States of America. On February 14, 2012 it became an integral part of
this new found world of democracy and freedom. Along with its vast cultures and heated
temperatures, the architectural design of the city is a pure reflection of the inhabitants who were
established here before to make it their own homeland. This essay will examine the road to statehood
and analyze the events to make Arizona become a state.

signed. For 15 million, Mexico ceded more than one third of its territory and the U.S. acquired all of
Arizona north of the Gila River (McClory, 2001). Unfortunately, southern Arizona still was in control
by Mexico, which included Tucson. Arizona and New Mexico became one territory called the
Territory of New Mexico. Soon after, the United States paid another 10 million for 30,000 square
miles of the Mexican territory that included Tucson. Congress thought the purchase was meaningless
because it was just desert land. The Gadsden Purchase gave the final boundary that Arizona has today.
In 1860, along with the constitution, a governor and other elected officials were established. That was
unfortunately short lived because of the Civil War. In 1862, Union troops entered the state and placed
it under martial rule, this action further delayed Arizona s official admission as a state (McClory,
2011).
The Territorial Period Congress finally pushed for Arizona to have separate territorial status because
of the discovery of precious metals. On February, 24, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln signed the
Organic Act, which officially created Arizona s territory (McClory, 2001). The first official governor,
John Goodwin, took the oath of office on December 29, 1863. Prescott became the capital in 1864,

There are several reasons the PFA model adds value to counseling some, which include safety for the
client, reducing clients stress symptoms, rest and recuperation, and providing resources for social
support and shelter (James Gilliland, 2017). For example, when hurricane Katrina hit, individuals
were left with no home or belongings. The PFA model would have all mental health workers come in
and provide individuals with shelter, food, and clothing. Once the essential needs have been met for
individuals, the PFA model promotes safety, calming, sense of self and community, and instilling hope
and connectedness (Ruzek et al., 2007). In the PFA model there are eight core actions that take place
for any crisis, which include contact and engagement, safety and comfort, stabilization, information
gatherings, practical assistance, connection with social supporters, information on coping, and linking

How Did Audrey Hepburn Impact On Society
Ashley Le Coach Fox English III 6 1 March 2015 Audrey Hepburn Conformity was a huge aspect of
the 1950s, and the popularized look during this time was set by Marilyn Monroe. Audrey Hepburn,
however, set an easier standard look for the women to be able to achieve. With little to no experience,
Hepburn has made an impact to the entertainment world even though it was her intention to be an
actress. Audrey Hepburn deserves to have a commemorative postage stamp as a result, she has
entertained and captured the hearts of the entire movie going world. Audrey Hepburn entered the
entertainment world without the intention of entering. She wanted to be a ballerina but ended up as a
world renowned actress. Despite the little acting experience, Hepburn flourished and was never boring
to watch. She would act with raw emotions and passion which was how she made such an impact on
the entertainment world. This also was the cause of her, at the age of 24, winning an Oscar for best

Essay on School Prayer Should Be Allowed
School Prayer Should Be Allowed
I attended twelve years of Catholic School. My parents consented to the decision of my enrollment
and they knew what was involved. They knew that the study of God and prayer was mandatory. Prayer
in school in my case produced and environment of discipline and respect for the teachers. The
involvement of my parents and the faculty in the use of prayer was in full agreement. However, my
view was not even considered important. My rights had been violated.
The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States gives every individual the same rights.

prohibition of the establishment of religion by the state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the permission of the school a group of students could establish a prayer club. All these things
are legal, but what the government is trying to avoid is mandatory school prayer. Mandatory school
prayer is illegal and violates the constitution. It would contradict all separation between church and
state. If prayer in public school was made necessary the country would most likely be divided. You
would have the religious leader ecstatic about the freedom of prayer. Then you would have offended
non believers or believer of other denominatio ns or people who find the government too controlling.
With legalization of prayer, would come disruption in the way the government is run.
Whereby the beliefs of an individual, like the president or a member of congress, would set goals
using feelings and not thinking through the problem. For example, a president with strong religious
beliefs would be against anything dealing with moral issues. The ideals of an individual would then be
imposed on another. Also the government, in giving permission to a prayer in school, would imply that
one religion was better than the another. This could be solved by giving each major religion a prayer
and read separately by individuals.
School prayer should be decided by the parents and the individual.
This way giving more control over what happens to where it belongs. The parents who are religious

Neoclassicism and the Enlightenment Essay
Neoclassicism and the Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a time of great innovation and evolution. One of the most significant
movements which owes at least the majority of its beginnings to the Enlightenment is the architectural
and artistic movement of Neoclassicism. This Neoclassicism of the mid eighteenth to mid nineteenth
centuries is one that valued ancient Greek, Roman, and
Etruscan artistic ideals.
These ideals, including order, symmetry, and balance, were considered by many European generations
to be the highest point of artistic excellence. Although many movements in European art were largely
devoid of classical characteristics, they were always looked to as sources of inspiration and were
revived as significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pettiness of these movements had created a backlash and these thinkers and art critics welcomed
the harsher and more ordered Neoclassical style as they began to swing the art pendulum in the
opposite direction.
One of the primary causes in the rise of Neoclassicism in the mid eighteenth century was the
expansion of what was previously called a classical education. By 1750 Italian tourism was already a
full blown industry, with guides and guidebooks circulating throughout
Europe. As a part of any young man s education, he now had to make the artistic tour of Italy,
especially Florence, Rome, and Naples. This was not just a quick visit to a couple museums; rather, it
was a lengthy, often times more than a year, and in depth study of the rich trove of art that these cities
had to offer. It was supplemented with classes and lectures at the museums and time taken after these
to sketch or paint these precious works to take home. The proliferation of these sketches would
compound and any aspiring artist was also then required to study these works. The increased influence
and awareness of Greek and Roman art in the studies of the developing artists would soon begin to
show in their designs.
One of the most significant reasons that a renewed interest in Italy has arisen was the recently found
sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
The excavation of these sites revealed massive amounts

Imperialism And Imperialism
Imperialism hurt the lives of the colonized people as new machinery boosted the growth of cash crops
and under cut the local textile industry, putting local people out of business and reducing the food
supply which lead to famine, resentment of religious repression and conversion lead to revolts such as
the Sepoy Mutiny, and racism towards the colonised people led to wage inequality which resulted in
unsafe working conditions as well as torture and mistreatment.
When British companies settled India, they brought new machinery that manufactured cheaper cloth,
which under cut the local textile industry and put local artisans out of business, as well as boosted the
farming of cotton, a cash crop, which reduced the food supply and lead to famine. Prior to British
colonization, the people of India were self sufficient. As they grew their own food and weaved their
own textiles, the agriculture and textile industries played a large role in people s lives. Most people s
primary occupation was farming, and they grew mostly food crops to provide for their villages. In
Britain, the textile industry was rapidly growing in the wake of the Industrial Revolution. European
countries competed for limited resources to fuel their growing economies, and sought new markets to
which they could sell their goods. When the British came to India, they were seeking a supplier of raw
materials. Looking to grow cash crops, crops that could be converted to cash quickly as they could be

COMPLAINT Frank W.Tolman, Sr., submitted a complaint on October 25, 2014, regarding Alan L.
Grenier, Esq. Tolman Sr. alleges that Grenier did not properly handle the sale of his property, 175
Central Street, Georgetown, MA. During the sale Tolman alleges that Grenier was deceitful, unethical,
and fraudulent. Additionally, he asserts that he did not receive his entire case file, including properly
executed paperwork required for taxes, and that Grenier continued to run up legal bills and stalled me
with no action. Grenier has allegedly violated Mass.R.Prof.C. 1.1, 1.2, 1.4(a) (b), 1.16(d), and 8.4(c).
FACTS In 2003, Tolman Sr. retained Grenier to assist in the sale of his property located at 175 Central
Street, Georgetown, MA. Tolman Sr. purchased the land in 1960, and in 1996 he granted an easement
on the property to a neighbor in order to use, maintain, and repair an existing septic leaching field on
his property. The property has many issues as a result of this septic system and its lack of inspection
of, as well as its proximity to conservation and wetlands. It appears that Tolman Sr. had been trying to
sell this piece of land since at least 2003, and even received an offer of $215,800 from one prospective
buyer in 2006; however that sale fell through when Tolman Sr. could not agree on the terms of
repayment with the buyer. Despite the issues with the land, on October 31, 2011 Brian Farmer, who is

The Factors Influencing California Teacher Credentialing
Rena Bonifay

Research Paper Topic Proposal
From the time California was admitted to the Union through today, the requirements for formal
educators have continuously evolved. Multiple factors have influenced these changes. The economy,
changes in immigrant communities, as well as scientific research on social emotional, physical and
cognitive development of students. Changes in teaching style trends have also been influenced by the
same factors. The success of the education system in California continues to be dependent on the
willingness to meet the changing needs of its population. In order for the state government to insure

In addition to gaining insight on the evolution of the education system in California, I am looking
forward to learning about today s trends in teaching as well as predictions for the direction we are
headed for the future. With the help of research, I hope to find the specific factors the state use to
determine best practices. Do best practices differ according to the demographics the public school is
serving? How big of a role does each factor play in curriculum and teacher training? I also want to
focus on the current use of Professional Learning Communities and the requirement of Professional
Development. How have these newer practices changed the effectiveness of teaching? In Early
Childhood we have always had to fulfill Professional Development requirements in order to maintain
or upgrade Early Childhood Credential Permits. How new is the requirement for Professional
Development for multi subject teachers in maintaining their credential? Through research for this
paper in addition to tracking the changes in credentialing requirements of educators, I hope to discover
if California has been able to keep up with the ever changing educational needs of our population; or
if the state has had to play catch up at some points in time. Are we alone in the challenges we

Federalism is the division of Governmental powers and authorities between the State and Federal

However, the Framers of the constitution found to avoid tyranny, a separation or division of authority

Media Violence and Violence in Society
If television causes aggression and violent behavior, assuming that the television programming
contains some violence, there should be more and more violent crime after television is available
(Freedman). Many suggest the violence in media is causing violence in society but then how is it that
violent crimes are actually decreasing in the United States. The violence that is occurring is actually
due from the mentally ill, poor parenting, and the location of where one lives in society. Violence has
actually decreased over the decades even though media has more violence than ever before. According
to a report done by Lawrence W Reed with the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, by the age of 18 an
American child will have seen 16,000 simulated murders and 200,000 acts of violence. These are
astounding figures yet crime has hit a nine year low (Frieden). Because of these statistics media is not
causing more crime in America. The actual correlation between being exposed to media violence and
actually acting violently are not conclusive. According to Jonathan L. Freedman of the University of
Toronto, The Surgeon General s Report on Youth Violence concluded that exposure to television
violence causes a short term increase in aggression, but when on to say that television violence has
little or no role in causing real violence. Again this is showing that there might be a little aggressive
behavior caused by media violence but the long term effects are not what is causing

Critically Discuss Augustine s Distinction Between Just...
Augustine is highly acclaimed as the originator of the Just War theory. He founded a concept that
would be built upon for many years to come. Augustine argued that war was sometimes sadly an
unfortunate necessity to preserve order in society. He believed that wars should only be undertaken if
they satisfy a certain criteria for a just war. McCellend notes how ‘the original condition of man s
soul was innocence but since the Fall the soul has been tainted and is thus incapable of achieving
goodness. While Augustine was fundamentally against war as he believed it was sinful, he recognised
that sometimes there were just wars that could be fought under Gods jurisdiction to obtain a just
peace. This essay will examine the criteria that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Augustine did not accept that justice could be obtained through killing in self defence. One should
only be permitted to kill only under the instruction of God or a legitimate authority ordained by God.
He believed that self defence should never be a valid justification for causing harm to another man.
However, in the Bible one of the ten commandants is that ‘thou shallt not kill . In arguing that killing
is sometimes an unavoidable evil Augustine contradicts traditional Christian doctrine and goes against
the teachings of Jesus. According to Augustine Christians have a moral duty to contribute to the state.
Their duties involve participating in the public office and fighting in a just war if it is deemed
necessary by their ruler Augustine asserted that once a war has been declared the soldier must obey his
leader regardless of whether he is waging a just or unjust war. The soldier is therefore not guilty if the
war he engages in is unjust but instead it is the sole fault of the ruler. Augustine argued that ‘the
soldier is innocent, because his position makes obedience a duty . To punish a soldier for participating
in an unjust war would encourage dissertation and anarchy amongst the ranks. Augustine thus believed

The Food Waste And Recycling
Food Waste Recycling
There are billions of people struggling every day to have enough to eat, and billions of tons of food
being tossed in the garbage, food waste is gaining increasing awareness as a serious environmental
and economic issue. Research shows that about 60 million metric tons of food is wasted a year in the
United States, with an estimated value of $162 billion. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills,
at a cost of about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My
research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, and the total
cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and
consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s
hungry people, but it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue
in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as the world s
population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost,
but it contributes to growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the
production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer and land. The fuel that is burned to
process, refrigerate and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown
away in landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent

much of a blessing the opportunity of being alive meant to him. Henry Longfellow anonymously

To correct all misunderstandings, breakfast indeed helps us control healthy diets and even lose weight.
How? Technically, skipping breakfast means your sugar level in blood drops even lower than the
required standard. As a result, it will trigger your hunger and you will have less energy, which means
that by lunch time you would be starving to death, and feel like you can eat a whole cow. As a
consequence, you would end up overeating. What s about if we just ensure that we do not over
consume for the rest of the day? Admittedly, for that case, you might lose some weight, but according
to www. prevention.com, a reward of longterm skipping breakfast is to gain dangerous belly fat in

a one point cost for holding excess inventory and a one point cost for any backlog (old backlog +

understanding of what real demand is. Each group has control over only a part of the supply chain, but

influenced by decisions that others are making. This lack of coordination coupled with the ability to
influence while being influenced by others leads to what Stanford s Hau Lee refers to as the Bullwhip

the supply chain towards the production end. Even in the face of stable customer demand small
variations in demand at the retail end tend to dramatically amplify upstream the supply chain with the
effect that order amounts are very erratic, and can be very high in one week and almost zero in the

Advantages Of Collective Bargaining
Discussion of collective bargaining must begin with recognizing the fundamental differences between
public and private employment. The terms and conditions of employment in the private sector are
determined by private decisions made by private parties shaped by market forces. In the public sector,
the terms and conditions of employment are public decisions made through governmental officials and
shaped by political processes as well as by market forces. In a democratic society, this means that
decisions are confined by constitutional limitations and must ultimately reflect the will of the
electorate (Summers, 2003). Organizing efforts are a constant and much more difficult in the private
sector due to the rise and fall of businesses. Once a union organizes in the public sector, they will
usually remain intact as there is no worry about the government going out of business. Therefore,
maintaining membership levels in the public sector is not a problem. Public employees have other
major advantages over their private sector counterparts in that they are constitutionally protected,
which prohibits termination or other adverse action without good cause. In other words, they are not at

Importance Of Sexuality In Peter Pan
Sexuality is the quality or state of being sexual. Throughout history, sexuality has been known as a
taboo and something that wasn t talked about openly. In the modern society sexuality has become
widely accepted and a child s action to learn about sexuality is just another step of discovering who
they are. Children start puberty around the ages of eight to thirteen, around this time in a child s life
they start to feel things for members of the opposite sex that they have never felt before. Sexuality has
always been looked at as a grown up idea and one never really considers the effect that sexuality has
forcing one to grow up. Due to sexuality s grown up aspect, when thinking about Peter Pan written by
J.M Barrie, sexuality is a looked over characteristic of the well know fairy tale.
Firstly, the reader is introduced to how sexuality helps to tell the fairy tale Peter Pan, by bringing out
the jealousy of the mermaids in Never Land. When Wendy first arrives in Never Land she is so
amazed by the different types of creatures there. Wendy finds herself at the Mermaid Lagoon with
Peter. The Mermaids get so excited to see Peter quickly showing the reader their interest in him when
one mermaid says, Why were you gone so long? Didn t you miss me? (Peter Pan. J.M Barrie.8). When
the Mermaids realize that Peter is not alone they quickly start asking Peter who Wendy is and why he
brought her there. In this chapter the reader is introduced to one of the many examples of the Electra
complex developed by Freud Oedepus. Freud states that there is a little part of every girl that wishes
harm on other girls that show interest in the boy the girl in attracted to. This
Farias 2 is shown during this chapter as the mermaid attempt to drag Wendy into the Lagoon by her
dress. Wendy threatens to get back to at the mermaids by picking up a sea shell and saying, if you dare
take one more step near me.. , ( Barrie.8). Before Wendy gets a chance to defend herself Peter quickly
intervenes telling Wendy that the mermaids were just joking around. Proven by one of the mermaids
saying, Yeah we were just trying to drown her , (Barrie.8 ). Barrie introduces sexuality in may
different ways throughout Peter Pan, using the Electra

Essay On Still Alice Howland
In Still Alice, a college professor Dr. Alice Howland is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s. We
see Alice struggle with slowly losing her memories and not being able to work anymore, something
Alice feels that defines her identity. Alice continues to try and remain herself by setting reminders and
taking a daily quiz. However, her mental faculties continue to decline drastically and her family
begins to treat her as something less than a person, and instead is viewed as a kind of burden on her
husband and children. By the end of the movie Alice is no longer the same, and fails to kill herself as
the former Alice instructed during a video instructing Alice kill herself when she could no longer

Thus with this bodily criterion there is no ethical dilemma of murder, since Alice never ceases to be
Alice. Thus, if taking this view to be valid then there is no ethical dilemma present with Alice
instructing herself to how to kill herself. I will now state my own thoughts on personal identity and
whether the psychological criterion with direct memory connection determines personal identity or the
bodily criterion. Then I will give reasons for the validity of my perspective, and how it is incorporated
with the films view. Although Still Alice supports the psychological criterion with direct memory
connection, this criterion does not actually determine personal identity. Instead, the bodily criterion
with normal cause of the brain is the factor of personal identity. This variation of the bodily criterion
includes the most important organ in the human body, the brain. The brain controls the entire body,
and how information is processed from stimuli in the environment. I also defend the idea that only
half the brain is needed for brain continuity and normal

How Did English Colonization Affect Canada
discovered various features in North America such as: The Great Lakes, Quebec, and New York. The
French established settlements in these areas and their impact is very evident on Canada and North
America today. Exploration also allowed the French to interact with Native American tribes in those
regions in good ways and bad ways. This interaction benefited Native Americans in good ways
because it began healthy trade between the French and them. Additionally, French trade gave Native
Americans access to guns and other goods that the Native Americans didn t have. This would change
the dynamic of war amongst Native Americans forever. On the other hand, French interaction with
Native Americans was bad for the native tribes because the French made ... Show more content on

English colonization focused on religion and economy. Ever since the religious revolt against the
Catholics, staged by Martin Luther in the 16th century, there were many religions formed which
believed they had divine revelation from God. England was a land that was rich with religion and
unlike the French and Spanish, they were not Catholic. There were many Protestants who resided in
England during colonization. So, according to Early American History to 1877, to zealous English
Protestants, a colony in America would offer a bulwark against Catholic Spain and France. The
English wanted to get a religious foothold in America so that all inhabitants in America wouldn t be
tainted with Catholic beliefs. In addition, to England, a colony in America offered vast economic
trade. Therefore England tried to establish colonies early on with Jamestown and the Roanoke Colony,
but neither succeeded. They experienced hunger and hostility from the Indians and eventually had to
leave. But, the English were able to rebound. They benefited immensely from tobacco and learned
how to survive in the New World. So their objective of taking advantage of the economy of the New
World and establishing Protestant colonies was

Case Study Of Keurig Green Mountain
Keurig Green Mountain, previously owned by Keurig, Inc., was introduced in 1998. Beginning as a
vision in the 70 s, the goal of the company was to solve a typical office problem; a full pot of coffee
sitting, growing bitter, dense, and stale. The vision was a single cup coffee brewer. In 1992, a business
plan was formed and partnerships were made. John Sylvan, the man with the plan, called in Peter
Dragone, a former college roommate and director of finance at Chiquita, and Keurig was founded. But
the vision and the plan were not enough. They needed funding. In order to quit making their coffee
pods by hand and make their single coffee brewers more reliable, they sought the help Dick Sweeny to

Comparing and Contrasting the Role of Women in Things...
Role of Women in Things Fall Apart and Heart of Darkness Women were once little more than slaves
to their male betters. Some women might have been respected, but their places were limited to roles as
wives and mothers. They might rule a home, but were not believed intelligent enough for any other
role. This chauvinistic attitude is well reflected in the novels Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe,
and Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad. In Things Fall Apart, women are praised in their capacities
as wives and mothers, almost revered really. In many instances, Achebe paints glowing pictures of
them in these roles. Anasi was a middle aged woman, tall and strongly built. There was authority in

There were many women, but they looked on from the fringe like outsiders (Achebe 87). With the
festivals, held in the public places, men presided and took the seats of honor in front. Women were
forced to stand at the edges and look on from there because they simply weren t as important. It was
the men who held the courts of justice and decided on punishment. Also, throughout the book, Achebe
emphasizes the women s role in childbearing and their fault if the children are not born healthy. Nneka
has had four previous pregnancies and childbirths. But each time she had borne twins, and they had
been immediately thrown away. Her husband and his family were already becoming highly critical of
such a woman and were not unduly perturbed when they found she had fled to join the Christians. It
was a good riddance (Achebe 151). Because Nneka could no longer fulfill her role as a mother in Ibo
society, she was no longer respected. She was not valued for her intelligence or her personality. She
was valued by whether or not she could produce healthy children. Because she couldn t, she no longer
had a place in her society. In Heart of Darkness women are not paid much attention beyond that of
Kurtz s mistress and his fiancee. The only other women mentioned in the novel are the two ladies
knitting with skeins of black wool, and the narrator s aunt, who got him his job with the Company.

French Horn Evaluation
Late Bloomer
A good word to describe the first sound that came out of my French horn could be called a screech.
When I first looked at the instrument I originally thought the bell faced upward in the air. You would
never believe that only two years later I was able to sight read pieces of music and preform them in a
matter of an hour during a workshop at Disney world. The quick improvement that I made in my
music ability showed my natural tenacity and persistence.
Growing up I was always around musicians, and music interested me, but I was always steered
towards more academics. I finally got into music in High School. It made me rather nervous because
here I was sitting in a room with people who basically played instruments and sung within the womb,
and I was unable to even read music. So at first I asked my friends who were all music aficionados.
Every second thing that came out of my mouth was a question about music. What was tone? How do I
play a scale? What is moderato? And how on earth was I going to catch up to these kids? So especially
in band I took control and I took my French horn home every weekend and practiced for hours,
determined to meet my high standards. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Choir or band director with about five questions. But it simply was not enough. So my sophomore
year I was given vocal lessons that taught me that I can match pitch consistently , and that my range
was bigger than I ever thought it could be. I discovered a talent that I loved and I intended to perfect it
.I performed in multiple cabarets and had the opportunity to sing with my choir at the Carnegie music
hall. I was finally getting the swing of music; but that was not enough due to my obstinacy. I wanted

Theme Of Existentialism In As You Like It
The play to be reviewed is As You Like It, written by William Shakespeare. The prevailing philosophy
throughout the play is existentialism. What is existentialism? Existentialism can be defined through its
ontology. Ontology is the study of the nature of reality and is also called the theory of reality. The
ontology of existentialism can be discussed in under concepts of man and existence. In the concept of
man, existentialists believe that man is not bound by any antecedent human nature but rather free to
determine its own nature. It opposed those deterministic theories (ex. inborn talents, predestined path
of life, etc.) and favoured principle of indeterminism. To be a man is to be undetermined, to be free.
Man has the freedom to choose and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As quoted from Marcel, to exist means not just to be present to my own aware ness but also to be a
manifest being. I exist that is as much to say: I have something to make myself known and recognized
both by others and by myself . In conclusion, existentialism is not about man as an absolute being but
rather a relative and subjective one. As long as a man exists, there is always a room for him to revise
and correct himself and has a future that is not determined by his innate nature, birthright, etc. The
most important values on existentialism are freedom of choice and individuality. As You Like It is a
play written by William Shakespeare and is classified as marriage comedy together with the plays
Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night s Dream. The list of main characters includes Duke Frederick:
the usurper of the throne of Duke Senior which is also his brother; Celia (aka Aliena): the daughter of
Duke Frederick; Rosalind (aka Ganymede): the daughter of Duke Senior; Touchstone: the court s
clown; Sons of the late Sir Rowland de Boys (of decreasing age): Oliver, Jaques, Orlando; Adam: a
loyal servant to Sir Rowland and his sons; Amiens and Jaques: Lords that are banished with Duke
Senior; Corin and Silvius: Sheperds in the forest of Arden; Phebe: a

They sued the company for sex discrimination in inequality wages and promotion opportunities. Is
Wal Mart operating an efficient business practice or discriminatory practices towards the employees?
The question will rise upon various perspectives from different individuals. Some individuals will
support the idea of class action with the female employees. While the other people will disagree on the
lawsuit. It only takes one voice to wake the public to rise and demand the government to adjust the
distressed issue. The class suit represents over 1.6 million women who currently work or that have

Their marriage was to strengthen the alliance between France and Austria, longtime enemies. With the death of Louis XV in 1774, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette became king and queen. Louis XVI had no interest in engaging with Marie Antoinette. This lead to no children until seven years after their wedding. Each had their own spare time at which they could partake in everyday things that each other enjoys. Louis XIV enjoyed making locks from scratch. He also enjoyed carpentry. The population of France soon blamed the king for inaction and revolutionary ideas became to form. Marie was actually a nice person, she was just ignorant to those who didn t have the luxuries that she did. Politics of the time nicknamed her Madame Deficit because of her spending habits. The only crime that Marie was guilty of at that time was her insensitivity to the value of money. On the 20th of December in 1778, Marie had her first child, a daughter, Marie Therese. Many suggest the violence in media is causing violence in society but then how is it that violent crimes are actually decreasing in the United States. The violence that is occurring is actually due from the mentally ill, poor parenting, and the location of where one lives in society. Violence has actually decreased over the decades even though media has more violence than ever before. According to a report done by Lawrence W Reed with the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, by the age of 18 an American child will have seen 16,000 simulated murders and 200,000 acts of violence. These are astounding figures yet crime has hit a nine year low (Frieden). Because of these statistics media is not causing more crime in America. The actual correlation between being exposed to media violence and actually acting violently are not conclusive. According to Jonathan L. Freedman of the University of Toronto, The Surgeon General s Report on Youth Violence concluded that exposure to television violence causes a short term increase in aggression, but when on to say that television violence has little or no role in causing real violence. Again this is showing that there might be a little aggressive behavior caused by media violence but the long term effects are not what is causing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Critically Discuss Augustine s Distinction Between Just... Augustine is highly acclaimed as the originator of the Just War theory. He founded a concept that would be built upon for many years to come. Augustine argued that war was sometimes sadly an unfortunate necessity to preserve order in society. He believed that wars should only be undertaken if they satisfy a certain criteria for a just war. McCellend notes how ‘the original condition of man s soul was innocence but since the Fall the soul has been tainted and is thus incapable of achieving goodness. In arguing that killing is sometimes an unavoidable evil Augustine contradicts traditional Christian doctrine and goes against the teachings of Jesus. According to Augustine Christians have a moral duty to contribute to the state. Their duties involve participating in the public office and fighting in a just war if it is deemed necessary by their ruler Augustine asserted that once a war has been declared the soldier must obey his leader regardless of whether he is waging a just or unjust war. The soldier is therefore not guilty if the war he engages in is unjust but instead it is the sole fault of the ruler. Augustine argued that ‘the soldier is innocent, because his position makes obedience a duty . The Food Waste And Recycling Food Waste Recycling There are billions of people struggling every day to have enough to eat, and billions of tons of food being tossed in the garbage, food waste is gaining increasing awareness as a serious environmental and economic issue. Research shows that about 60 million metric tons of food is wasted a year in the United States, with an estimated value of $162 billion. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills, at a cost of about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, and the total cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s hungry people, but it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as the world s population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost, but it contributes to growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer and land. The fuel that is burned to process, refrigerate and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown away in landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent ... • 43. Advantages Of Collective Bargaining Discussion of collective bargaining must begin with recognizing the fundamental differences between public and private employment. The terms and conditions of employment in the private sector are determined by private decisions made by private parties shaped by market forces. In the public sector, the terms and conditions of employment are public decisions made through governmental officials and shaped by political processes as well as by market forces. In a democratic society, this means that decisions are confined by constitutional limitations and must ultimately reflect the will of the electorate (Summers, 2003). Organizing efforts are a constant and much more difficult in the private sector due to the rise and fall of businesses. Once a union organizes in the public sector, they will usually remain intact as there is no worry about the government going out of business. Therefore, maintaining membership levels in the public sector is not a problem. Public employees have other major advantages over their private sector counterparts in that they are constitutionally protected, which prohibits termination or other adverse action without good cause. In other words, they are not at will. In the modern society sexuality has become widely accepted and a child s action to learn about sexuality is just another step of discovering who they are. Children start puberty around the ages of eight to thirteen, around this time in a child s life they start to feel things for members of the opposite sex that they have never felt before. Sexuality has always been looked at as a grown up idea and one never really considers the effect that sexuality has forcing one to grow up. Due to sexuality s grown up aspect, when thinking about Peter Pan written by J.M Barrie, sexuality is a looked over characteristic of the well know fairy tale. Firstly, the reader is introduced to how sexuality helps to tell the fairy tale Peter Pan, by bringing out the jealousy of the mermaids in Never Land. When Wendy first arrives in Never Land she is so amazed by the different types of creatures there. Wendy finds herself at the Mermaid Lagoon with Peter. The Mermaids get so excited to see Peter quickly showing the reader their interest in him when one mermaid says, Why were you gone so long? Didn t you miss me? (Peter Pan. J.M Barrie.8). When the Mermaids realize that Peter is not alone they quickly start asking Peter who Wendy is and why he brought her there. In this chapter the reader is introduced to one of the many examples of the Electra complex developed by Freud Oedepus. Freud states that there is a little part of every girl that wishes harm on other girls that show interest in the boy the girl in attracted to. This Farias 2 is shown during this chapter as the mermaid attempt to drag Wendy into the Lagoon by her dress. Wendy threatens to get back to at the mermaids by picking up a sea shell and saying, if you dare take one more step near me.. , ( Barrie.8). I was finally getting the swing of music; but that was not enough due to my obstinacy. I wanted to learn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
