plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. In this quotation Owen is referring to a dream he has
had. Also he is describing what is happening in the dream a man is drowning from gas. He is also

Throughout the short story A P written by John Updike, we see how men and women are seen in that
time. By taking the Marxist approach, Updike was successful in placing sexual, gender and
authoritative powers throughout A P to portray how males objectified women in society of the early
1960 s. By using the emphasis of the girl s bare skin we see the influence of sexual power. Having the
story told from a man s point of view, we see the stereotypical way they view girls and how this may

Charges of workplace discrimination is said to be at an all time high. During the 2015 fiscal year the
U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity released information that claims there were more than 89,000
charges filed for workplace discrimination. One of the top ten charges is said to be retaliation, which
had an estimate 39,757 cases in 2015, which is 44.5 percent of all charges filed. Retaliation is said to
be in violation of the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, For the purpose of this research paper I

Short Stories In Native American Literature
Native American literature is in its self a very unique way of telling stories. In these types of stories, I
found that the stories were much different than the stories of the northern American writers I was used
too. What I found was the most interesting about the native American writers that I was reading about
is how similar the short stories and poems seemed. Erna Gunther, the author of the Native American
Literature article stated, These include ancient hieroglyphic and pictographic writings of Middle
America as well as an extensive set of folktales, myths, and oral histories that were transmitted for
centuries by storytellers and that live on in the language works of many contemporary American
Indian writers (Gunther). There was a very clear idea that the native American writes were more alike
in the themes and ideas that they were writing about. It is not a surprise when I read and come across
writers who have very different ways in telling a story or poem. But what seemed to interest me when
reading the work of two different Native American writers is how similar they are and not as different

between video games and violence. The young men who opened fire at the theater in Aurora, the
Columbine High School and in other massacres had one thing in common. All of them were video

The movie Spotlight is about a group of journalist who work at the Boston Globe. The film follows
the journalist as they investigate allegations against John Geoghan, a priest accused of molesting over
80 boys. During their investigation, the team of writers discover that there are over 80 more priests in
Boston who have molested children. The journalists are faced with opposition from the district
attorney s office, various victims, and also local newspapers; who they are competing with to tell the
story first. The Globe ends up publishing a story about the hypocrisy within the catholic church,
exposing many other organizations who protected the illegal activity within the Archdiocese.
There is a scene in the film where Mike, one of the journalist covering the case, returns to The Boston
Globe office to tell his colleagues about public letters he found. The letters, from the Archdiocese
addressed to John Geoghan, describe the crimes Geoghan committed. Instead of publishing the story

1. Describe the essential aspects of a self directed, intrinsically motivated, active learner?
A student who is a self directed, intrinsically motivated, active learner will own their goals, setting
their goals based on their specific needs, wants, and abilities. They will watch to ensure that their
goals are being met. The methods used by the active learner to achieve his/her goals will change
depending on the opportunities and challenges encountered over time, but the core goals should stay
the same. Otherwise, the active learner will be overcome by distractions and disillusionment.
Dr. W. Edwards Deming is a man that I admire. He was the chief statistician for the United Stated
during World War II. After the war, he was sent to Japan to assist with the process of rebuilding the
nation s industries. He believed that the Japanese could go from being the worst in the world to being
the best by utilizing statistical methods. He believed that the Japanese could take over a world market
in five years if they followed his advice (Asq.org, 2015). Demming stated I was the only man in Japan
who believed that Japanese industry could do that. and They beat my prediction. I had said it would
need five years. It took four. (Asq.org, 2015). Later, the Toyota Corporation based their quality
systems on Dr. Demming s teachings.

An 8 Bit Inter Integrated Circuit ( I2c )
The PCF8574AN is an 8 bit inter integrated circuit (I2C) bus input/output (I/O) expander. This chip
allows more I/O in the system. The I2C bus is a network which contains a master and slave. For this
project the master is the Raspberry Pi and the slave is the I/O expander chip. The two communicate
via the data and clock lines. The slave has an additional address so that the master can identify it in the
network if there were more slaves.
The HC SR04 module is a distance sensor which utilises ultrasonic signal to conduct its readings.
From the datasheet, it has range of 2cm to 400cm and it uses 40kHz sound waves2. The Trig pin
(input) is used to trigger an ultrasonic pulse, while the Echo pin (output) produces a signal when the
pulse is detected. The Vcc pin is connected to 5V and the GND is connected to the ground pin.
The module was connected as shown in Figure 1b and ran the python program project D c.py to test
the distance measurement. This program outputs the distance detected by the HC SRO4. The voltage
signal from the Trig and Echo pins were connected to an oscilloscope through different channels and
the amplitude and timing were compared. It could be seen that signal for the Trig has amplitude of 5V
and occurs immediately before the Echo , which had an amplitude of ≈ 2V. The Echo pin normally
produces a voltage of 5V, but with the addition of the 1k resistor, the output voltage is lowered to
about 2V. The resistor is there to protect the GPIO pins

Ethics in information communication technology discipline is quite new, mainly because the major

A Reflection On Awakening Alcoholic Anonymous Meeting
In this paper, I will be writing about my reflection and reaction to an Upon Awakening Alcoholic
Anonymous meeting which was held at the Unity of Sedona Church, 65 Deer Trail in Sedona, Arizona
on Thursday, October 29, 2015. This meeting was held at 7:30 AM in the morning. The meeting
consisted of an eleven step grouping of middle aged men and women ranging from ages 30 to 65 years
old. There were seven men and thirteen women whose purpose was to practice prayer through the
eleventh step of the Big Book. The meeting started out with an introduction of everyone who was
present. They stated their names and said they were alcoholics and how long they had been sober.
They continued to go over old business, and then proceeded to read from the Alcoholics Anonymous
Big Book, the Third Step Prayer. The prayer was about releasing one s self of their bondage. A gong
wash was performed, followed by fifteen minutes of meditation. Participants came forward to share
their reflection of the Third Step Prayer. Jean was the first one to come forward to speak and her
thoughts were; One s self must be the one to relieve the bondage to and from one s self s defects. One
must learn to discover, undercover, and discard one s bondage by believing within. A woman named
Deb got up and informed us that she was a servant to her creativity. She claimed that she needed to
