Writing A Persuasive Essay Outline
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Writing A Persuasive Essay Outline" can be both
challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in the intricate balance required to convey
information effectively while also persuading the audience. First and foremost, one must have a
solid understanding of the persuasive essay genre and its distinct components. This includes
familiarity with the purpose, structure, and key elements such as the introduction, thesis
statement, body paragraphs, and conclusion.
Creating a persuasive essay outline requires careful thought and strategic planning. The writer
must analyze their audience, consider opposing viewpoints, and organize compelling arguments
in a logical sequence. It's a meticulous process that demands critical thinking and a deep dive
into the chosen topic.
Additionally, striking the right tone is crucial in persuasive writing. The language used should be
persuasive without being overly aggressive, and the overall essay should exude confidence and
credibility. Achieving this balance can be a formidable task, especially for those new to
persuasive writing.
Moreover, finding reliable sources to support arguments and incorporating them seamlessly into
the essay adds another layer of complexity. Proper citation and referencing are essential to
maintain the essay's credibility.

The American Architectural Firm Skidmore
Introduction Formed in 1936, the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings
and Merrill (SOM) is one of the most successful and innovate firms to focus on
high end commercial building and lead the paradigm of the use of the modern
international, or glass box style of skyscraper. Since its inception, the firm has
designed and built several of the world s largest buildings including the John
Hancock Center (1969), the Sears Tower (1973) and the Burj Khalifa(2010), currently
the world s tallest building. The company has diversified and evolved and now offers
services in Architecture, Building Services, Graphics, Digital and Interior Design,
Structural and Civil Engineering, and most recently, Sustainable Design and Urban
Planning (Adams). For many, in fact, SOM s postwar buildings are the essential
building blocks to understand the modern movement in the United States.
Biography SOM was founded by Louis Skidmore (1897 1962), Nathaniel Owings
(1903 1984), and John Merrill (1896 1975). Merrill was the structural engineer of the
group, while Skidmore was the architect, and Owings the visionary. Owings was
known as the catalyst, the person in the firm who ironed out differences among
clients, contractors and the planning commission (Barron). The strength of the three
was that they had the vision to move beyond the standards of their time, to imagine a
way to bring beauty and structural integrity to the needs of the modern urban
environment, and to understand how to
Why Did Kitty Genovese s Neighbors Fail For Take Action...
On March 13, 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was stabbed repeatedly while
several neighbors were vaguely aware of the unfolding events occurring outside. The
lack of action on the neighbors part led to Genovese dying shortly after. Why did
Kitty Genovese s neighbors fail to take action quickly?
The psychologists John Darley and Bibb LatanГ© (1968) were interested in the
Genovese incident and sought to find the answer to this psychological phenomenon.
In their experiment, Darley and LatanГ© hypothesized that the higher number of
bystanders would decrease helping behavior and vice versa. The two manipulated the
number of confederates during each trial and recorded the time it took for the
participants to report the simulated seizure. Their results confirmed that if were more
confederates, each participant would feel less pressured to help, leading to the
discovery of the bystander effect.
The bystander effect is defined as the higher the number of people who notice an
emergency, the less of a chance that those bystanders will help the victim (as cited in
Aronson, Wilson, Akert, Sommers, 2015). The importance of the bystander effect is
unparalleled because it determines whether humans will still help in a situation when
there are other people available. Bystanders can deal with situations ranging from the
mundane to the dire, but what matters is the number of those who take action.
Inspired by the Genovese case, my partner and I wanted to see if the Tufts

Epidemic of Violence in the USA Essay
Violence, one of the biggest problem in the world right now, especially in America,
where the gun control law are barely enforced, every citizen is at constant risk,
considering the amount of people in this country that own guns. Crime and violence
are rapidly becoming the prime epidemic in the U.S today, but what can we do to
ensure our future generation s safety? Gun violence is a big problem everywhere, in
poor rural neighborhoods to prosperous urban cities like Malibu, it can happen
anywhere at any time. The most deadly cases happen in suburban areas where no one
would suspect any thing would happen, these areas are the prime target for mass
shootings. Some of the most known tragic events include the Columbine massacre...

It angered a lot of people but unless the congress sees it the way the citizens sees it,
this is a problem that is not easy to solve. Fifteen of the twenty five worst mass
shootings in the last decade worldwide occurred in the United States of America.
This is really telling people something about our country, it says people with guns
are crazy and dangerous and America has a lot of it. Even though more guns don t
necessarily mean more murders, the amount of unregistered guns out in the public
is a real issue that cannot be ignored. About sixty percent of people in the U.S own
guns, the estimated number of guns legally owned by civilians is 270,000,000 to
310,000,000 (FBI), and that s not counting all the illegally owned firearms. When
asked why they need guns, most Americans say that its part of their rights and
amendments, to protect themselves and their family. If most people with guns just
want to protect themselves, why do so many people die every year from gun
violence? The answer is all the illegal firearms that land in the hands of criminals
and psychopaths. Because of the almost non existing rules and regulations, it is very
easy for someone to illegally acquire a gun. These people get guns either from a
corrupt dealer, private gun sales or a method these criminals call straw purchasing ,
the most common way a criminal obtain firearms. This is when someone
Biography Of Vince Staple, A Black Rapper From Long
Beach,...
Vince Staple, a black rapper from Long Beach, California, began his career in 2009
through features on Earl Sweatshirt s album Earl Sweatshirt. His debut album,
Summertime 06 (June 30, 2015) describes life for a low income black male in
Long Beach, California, beginning with Lift Me Up, a description of how life post
wealth has given him insight into the socioeconomic upper class. Lift Me Up
provides to the album s overall story about issues of race through thick lyrics, strong
rhythmic patterns, policies of respectability and uplift, and a very intense rhyme
scheme and anti anti essentialist view. Summertime 06 describes the difficulty young
black men face while living in poverty while white peoplesee those issues and brush
them off insignificant problems. Lift Me Up , the first song of the album post intro,
Ramona Park Legend, Pt. 1 , introduces the motif of poverty, violence, and fighting
adversity through black unity. The short album lasting only 59 minutes and 5
seconds in length, despite being 20 tracks long, fits a large amount of African
musical and cultural traits in to Summertime 06 and sets up the discussion of current
racial issues and Vince Staple s solution and problems within a small amount of
time. The creation of the album emulates the Motown method of heavy quality
control, with all tracks contributing to the overall sound and power of the message.
The lyrical significance of Lift Me Up overshadows all other aspects of the song,

How The Segmentation Task Would Be Implemented
One of the most important steps towards the completion of this project was the
formulation of how the segmentation task would be implemented. The segmentation
strategy should be designed in such a way that it can efficiently deal with the main
challenges of the dataset.
Firstly, the method should be able to ignore background noise, as well as objects that
are not
LDL particles. Additionally, it should be able to deal with adjacent and overlapping
particles.
A widely used strategy[26, 4] is to face this problem as a binary classification task,
with the goal of classifying each pixel that lies on the surface of the object of
interest as 1 and every other pixel as 0. However, this strategy would lead to loss of
spatial information about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually, more training data lead to a more robust network that can generalise better
and as a result, make more accurate predictions. However, in some cases, it is
difficult to acquire large amounts of training data, because their collection or
production is either very time consuming or very expensive. In the case of the
micrographs this project is dealing with, the manual annotation process is very time
consuming (hence the need for the automation of this process) and this is why our
dataset is limited to 41 images.
However, in order to teach the neural network the desired invariance, a data
augmentation strategy was followed. More specifically, left right and top down
mirroring was applied to each image, which resulted in tripling the size of the original
dataset. The same technique was also used on the corresponding manually created
segmentation masks, resulting in a labeled dataset consisting of 123 examples. This
augmentation strategy has been proved to boost the performance of convolutional
networks in similar tasks [5]. Further augmentation of the dataset was initially
considered by rotating the images by 90, 180 and 270 degrees, however, training the
neural network on such a large dataset, turned out to be very computationally
expensive, leading to very long training time and as a result this idea was abandoned.
Additionally, to ensure that the memory requirements of the network during

amazing to industry observers. In 2002, Ice Fili, a midsized Russian company with
more than $25 million in sales, was Russia s top ice cream producer. Surprisingly, it

and Europe (reminiscent of whipped cream). Also, traditional Russian ice cream
was made with all natural ingredients and did not contain preservatives. It was
believed that Russian consumers were generally more concerned about
preservatives in food than fat levels. According to an industry trade association
representative, Millions of foreigners, after arriving in Moscow and tasting our ice
cream, have proclaimed Russian ice cream to be the best in the world. 7 In the
selling of ice cream, many products competed for the consumer dollar, including
beer (Baltica and dozens of other domestic brands), soda (primarily Pepsi and
Coke), yogurts, chocolate (Mars, NestlГ©, and numerous domestic players such as
Red October), and other confectionary candies. The producers of these products
often spent considerably more on advertising than ice cream producers.8 In 2001,
ice cream producers spent less than $5 million on advertising in Russia (1% of
sales), while the $4.5 billion Russian beer market spent approximately $90 million
(2% of sales) and the soft drink industry spent almost $200 million (7% of sales) on
advertising.9 The beer, soft drink, and confectionary industries enjoyed increasing
market demand rather than the depressed trend found in the Russian ice cream
industry. In 2000, the production of ice cream was down 3.5% from the year before; in
Causes Of The Green Revolution
The Green Revolution occurred around the 1940s, this was right after WWII had
ended so many countries were not doing so well economically and this affected their
agricultural abilities. During this time new technologies, to speed up the process of
growing food, were introduced. Things such as fertilizers, pesticides, and modern
irrigation systems were implementing into farming around the world. The Green
Revolution was caused by the lack of enough food to support the growing global
population , particularly in less developed countries, and the threat that this posed on
the surrounding more prosperous countries. It yielded results, helping to feed many
starving people in the world, but consequently it appeared to ruin some farmlands.
Natural farming in years to come and negatively affected certain groups of people.
The green revolution was caused, for the most part, by the lack of a substantial food
supply for the world population. As Dr. Norman Borlaug said, there were billions of
people in the world who were constantly plagued with hunger. They did not have the
proper conditions or nutrient rich soil that are necessary for growing enough crops to
sustain themselves. Dr. Borlaug was involved in the research for the Green
Revolution, he predicted that unless the methods of the Green Revolution were fully
implemented , then the results would not suffice, and the starving population would
remain hungry. (Doc 2). President Truman expressed similar sentiments about the

The President Of The United States Of America
Chris Puente
Being President of the United States of America is one of the most appreciative
and humbling experience, which also comes with a lot of responsibilities. With
that being said, to be the first African American president of the most powerful
country in the world says a lot about how far we have come as a country and
racism is no longer a factor in today s world. Barack Hussein Obama ll is the 44th
president of the United States of America. He was born in Honolulu Hawaii on
August 4th, 1961. President Obama graduated from Columbia University and later
enrolled in Harvard Law School.
Barack Obama was a regular mixed race child who was born in Honolulu Hawaii on
August 4th, 1961. He is the son of Stanley Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Sr.
Barack s mother Stanley Ann was of English descent and was born in Wichita
Kansas. His father, on the other hand, was of Kenyan descent. Obamas parents met
in 1960 at the University of Hawaii at MДЃnao. One year later the couple married on
February 2nd, 1961 in Wailuku but later separated on August of that year. After the
divorce, Barack and his mother moved to Indonesia with Lolo Soetoro, who would
now be his stepfather. The couple would later have another child, a girl this time and

their personalities are amazing. Specially, when each character has a characteristic
that distinguish them from others. I will focus on the incredible Hulk and the
Black Widow. The Black Widow and Hulk are superheroes, but they are different at
their anger, reaction and body size. The similarity between Black Widow and Hulk
are both possesses superpowers. Hulk can get his strength when he just becomes
anger. He is known for his hot temper, and his anger so easily triggered even by the
smallest of things. However, the Black Widow is usually calm and she can restrain
herself even when gets anger. She does not act on anger, but instead, remains

The Naked Citadel Analysis
With the help of authority, one would think change will speed up. However, this is
not the case. In Susan Faludi s The Naked Citadel, individuals who value of the
traditions and customs of the Citadel, a military school in the South, oppose to all
ideas of reform. This particular case focused on the acceptance of the institution s
first official femalecadet, Shannon Faulkner. Even with a court ruling in her favor,
Faulkner was met with a lot hate and threats because she threatened the balance of a
system. Individuals naturally tend to oppose and go against authorities or other
individuals that try to refine their traditions and cultural practices, therefore slowing
the constant progression of change. This slow radical shift is telling towards the
nature that change occurs Change is often met with opposition, especially when it
challenges one s culture and traditions. Look at all the criticism Shannon Faulkner
received when she sued the Citadel in order to be allowed to attend the all male
school. An alum claimed that Faulkner s legal efforts [is] an enemy invasion, placing
his young troops under attack (Faludi 78). This juxtaposition between the court case
and the idea of a troop being under attack shows how deeply this offended the
cultural beliefs of the alum. The court case, although is much less extreme than an
enemy invasion, evoked similar emotions of betrayal and stress in the alum. This
exemplifies the negative views the cadets have on women, viewing them as
Character Analysis Of Much Ado About Nothing, By
William...
Around the world, Shakespeare s works are read and analysed. His plays are sorted
into four categories: Comedies, Histories, Tragedies and Romances. Much Ado
About Nothing , by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the characteristics recurrent
in elizabethan tragedies, despite being considered a comedy. These significant
elements include: a villain, death, and a tragic love story. To begin, a Shakespearean
villain is stereotyped as: an outsider, someone who feels the need for revenge, and
someone who spends time plotting his evil actions. All of these elements can be
found within Much Ado About Nothing s Don John. Illegitimate brother of Don
Pedro, a nobleman from Aragon , Don John is certainly an outsider. Other characters

his villainous plan to disrupt the love of Claudio and Hero. Don John is
undouptably a Shakespearean villain that complements the other elements of this
tragedy. Furthermore, William includes the element of death in his tragedies. In
Much Ado About Nothing, death is often exaggerated and superficial. In Act 4,
Scene 1, Claudio slanders Hero at the altar and Leonato has a desire to die. Hath no
man s daggar here a point for me? (Act 4. Scene 1. 105) Death, at this moment is an
exaggerated desire. Leonato feels so ashamed and embarrassed that he wants to
die. Consequently, after the slandering, Hero, falls to the ground. Beatrice rushes
to her side and calls out that Hero is dead. Hero is not actually dead, though the
topic of death is superficial in this case. Hero can not handle the slandering and the
fact that her own father would not believe her. Afterwards, the friar devises a plan
that involves death. His goal is to clear Hero s name. The friar explains Let her
awhile be secretly kept in, and publish it that she is dead indeed (Act 4. Scene 1.
199 200) Death is again being used but this time it is for deception. The friar
continues She dying, as it must so be maintained, upon the instant that she was
accused, shall be lamented, pitied, and excused. (Act 4. Scene 1. 211 213) The false

The Employment Of Social Workers
Finding a job in this field should be relatively easy. According to the Bureau of
Labor statistics, the employment of social workers is projected to grow around 12
percent from 2014 2024. This growth is much faster than most other occupations.
The increased demand for social services and health care will lead to the
employment growth. Social workers can be employed in almost any setting. State
institutes focus on cases that deal with abuse or foster care ( Your Guide for
Becoming a Social Worker in 2017 ,2017,p.14 ). These are also the lowest paid

Social work positions are often full time and come with full benefits ( U.S Bureau
of Labor Statistics, 2017,p.1). Senior social workers are allowed to have a self
directed schedule along with it being super flexible. They can choose how and
when to attend to their cases and will allowed to work by themselves without any
direct supervision. What do social workers actually do? what does their job consist
of? Social workers work with people and their families to help support them
through the many difficult times they may have and to ensure that the vulnerable
people in the situation are removed from any harm. Their role is to provide support
and help improve peoples lives to the best of their ability. They have to use their
professional judgment to make vast, quick and tough decisions that isn t always
well received by the people they are trying to help ( Your Guide for Becoming a
Social Worker in 2017 ,2017, p.8). These roles can be very challenging and have
the potential to get media attention which can be negative for the family, social
worker and whole institution. Due to that, the government is putting more
measures to support and develop a strong workforce for the many social workers and
to help them feel as comfortable as possible. Qualified social workers can also work
alongside a social work assistant who they work closely with. They can work in a

Wellness in the Corporate Workplace
What is Corporate Wellness? Corporate wellness programs are designed to help
employers to be acclimated into wellness through their work environment. These
wellness programs will help many companies attract and keep their employees
healthy at the same time, along with reduce the cost of healthcare within the
company. When there is healthier employees, then lower healthcare plans for the
company. According to BusinessWeek, Scotts Miracle Grow instituted a corporate
wellness program, after the company realized that 20 percent of its net profits were
spent on providing healthcare. When companies reduce their healthplan this not only
helps them, but it also helps their employees to lower their deductions and co pays,
as well as prescription drugs. When employers help keep employees healthy it helps
to reduce absenteeism and a high job turnover. Wellness programs are designed to
increase morale, and it lets the employees know that they are not just a number, but,
that their employer cares about them. There are Corporate Wellness programs that
are found in different types of businesses and corporations. It is used to help reduce
the healthcare expense that many employers are facing today. There are many
companies in the corporate world who want to help reduce healthcare expenses,
along with making the work environment less stressful for their employees. The
corporate world along with other types of companies have opened workplace

The Story Of Herodotus And Darius
The logic of the plot, as it appears in Herodotus and Darius, cannot be denied. The
essential problem to be settled was that of power, pure and simple. From the
beginning, the problem with the desire to eliminate Bardiya was that there was no
heir, since Cambyses, as everyone knew, had died without male issue. According to
Herodotus, it was not until after the murder of the magus and his companions that the
Seven addressed the issue: The conspirators met to discuss the situation in detail. At
the meeting certain speeches were made some of our own countrymen refuse to
believe the were actually made at all; nevertheless they were. There theses are then

The Causes Of Valley Forge
Imagine living under brutal conditions in a rundown, secluded fort, far away from
home and knowing that you could die at any minute. What would you do? During
the winter of 1777 to 1778, George Washington s Continental Army set up their
post at Valley Forge, a military camp 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia. It was not
big enough to be called a village it only had a few fieldstone houses and a mill for
forging iron. The Quaker farms in the area offered good food and support for
Washington s men, so they accepted. However, as the days went by, they realized that
maybe that hadn t been such a good idea. The soldiers in the Continental Armyshould
have left Valley Forgebecause of deathand illness, living conditions in camp (lack of
food and clothing), and resentment towards Congress. Although Thomas Paine s
words of encouragement in the American Crisis were inspirational, this didn t
change the fact that the soldiers were suffering due to the extreme conditions in
the camp. To begin, the soldiers should have left Valley Forge because there were
many soldiers who began dying of death and illnesses that spread across camp. Noel
F. Busch states that, by February 1, 1778, 3,989 out of 8,000 soldiers were sick ,
which was approximately 50% of the total population (Busch, 1974). According to
researchers, the low estimate of soldiers who were dying in that year (1778) was
1,800 out of 8,000 people, which was roughly 1 person dead for every 2 soldiers
(10%). Finally, at the end
Sacrifice And Success
Sacrifice Or Success?
Something that everyone wants to achieve is success. Success is not something
that comes easy in life, one must be prepared to give sacrifices such as time, in order
for them to reach a professional level of success. In order to succeed, people must
learn to make sacrifices in life. Sacrifice is necessary for people to succeed because if
people are not willing to sacrifice anything such as time or effort, they will not
succeed. They need to sacrifice dedication, effort, and time. These three fundamental
principles if used correctly, are the best tools in the race for success. If the rules of
using maximum effort, dedication, and time are followed to its highest potential,

The common, or magic , number is 10,000 hours of practice in order for one to
become master or professional at what they are trying to accomplish. Most
professional athletes such as hockey players have been playing the sport for just
about as long as they could walk. For example, most of the skaters on the 18u
Syracuse Stars AAA hockey team started playing the game at ages 3,4, or 5. Every
player on that team is fundamentally sound when it comes to the game. They have
been around it for so long that hockey became a way of life, these are the players,
that dedicate the most time in order to succeed. They give the small amount of
practice time that they have everyday, 100% every time they touch the ice. The
hockey players across the world that dedicate the most time to their sport, will be
the ones who end up having the best chance at becoming a professional. The same
goes for any profession in which one would like to excel in. The hockey coach for
the Syracuse Stars 18u AAA team always says You get out of it, what you put in it
boys (Coach Dan Jones). This holds true because if you put in the time to succeed it
will show. A better example would be if there is a player on the team that makes
each practice but plays sloppy and does not attend optional practices and makes no
effort to put in extra time,
Essay about Mozart k310 sonata (2nd movement)
Mozart k310 sonata (2nd movement) Analyzation
The 2nd movement of the Mozart k310 Piano Sonata resembles standard sonata form
in many ways. It opens with a first theme in F (same as key signature). The theme is
four bars long; two bars of antecedant, two bars of consequent. Mozart then starts the
first theme again with a 32nd note run pick up instead of the 16th note arpeggio pick
up in the the begginning of the piece so we are prepared for variation in the second
statement of the first theme. He then continues the theme with variation until the
consequent phrase which is completely different from the first consequent phrase.
This new consequent has not only faster rythmic movement but also compressed

The I chord confuses the tonal direction becasuse the listener expects the ii to be
followed by V and then I. This is even more confusing because the scale that
accompanies the I chord implies V (the chord the listener wants to hear). The next
bar rounds off this cadential prolongation (ii V I) but the exposition does not yet
end. The arrival to I does not occur until beat three of the bar. The first two beats
create even more prolongation as they nearly modulate. And even after this, the
exposition is not done. There is a two bar codetta (a one bar figure played twice,
the second time with variation) before the strong V7 I cadence with a C pedal
tone. This is the first very strong cadence since the start of the closing material.
Since the cadence at the end of the exposition is to C without any hint of F as a
tonic, the Developement begins in C. In fact, it is clearly in C as its pick ups are a
C arpeggio and the first bar looks and sounds like I and shows no indication of a
Bb or any other scale alteration. The opening of the developement is also a textural
change but seems to resemble old material in its melody. Both the first theme and the
second theme have similar figures to the new material. The developement starts with
tonal movement in each of the first two measures, I in the first measure and ii6 in
the second. In the third bar the harmonic rythym increases with a I64 for the first two
beats and a V7 in
Macabre In Edgar Allan Poe s Annabel Lee
Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe is the master of macabre writing. Poe shows this
mastery in his poem Annabel Lee. In stanza three, it is stated by the narrator her
highborn kinsman came and bore her away from me, to shut her up in a sepulchre.
This represents Poe s macabre writing because the narrator s love has died and has
been put in her tomb. This sets the dark tone that Poe uses in his macabre writings.
Furthermore, in stanza four, the narrator also states That the wind came out of the
cloud by night, chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. This describes how Annabel Lee
died and this time Poe uses the word killing. Finally, in stanza five the narrator
declares Neither the angels in Heaven above nor the demons down under the sea
can ever dissever my soul from the soul of the beautiful Annabel Lee. In stanza six
the narrator reveals he sleeps with Annabel Lee in her tomb by the sea. The fact that
he shows that he must be suffering from mental trauma and that he sleeps beside a
sea filled with demons (as stated in stanza five) shows Poe s the mastery of macabre
writing in Annabel Lee. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also in stanza two, the narrator mentions Lost Lenore. This hints that Lenore is dead
and is has a close bond with the narrator. The narrator says in stanza eight Tell me

the underworld. Finally in stanza 15 the narrator asks if the tempter sent the Raven.
The tempter is the devil which is a perfect example of the darkness in Poe s macabre

What Is April Fools Day In The Campus
Many things unite Knights from over the the years, but perhaps one of the more
comical connections are the squirrels that inhabit the campus. The Student Union
marketing team as taken note of such. On Monday, they held their annual April
Fools Day tradition, Nuts About UCF. We do it every year for April Fools Day,
but since April Fools Day was on a Friday, and we don t get a lot of interaction on
Fridays, we just decided to do it today, said Alicia Miller, student union assistant
marketing coordinator. The recent tradition spoofs on the number of squirrels that
reside around the union and across campus, while simultaneously celebrating what
people love about the university with a chance to get one of the approximately 50

Disadvantages Of Digital Media
Each practice discussed above integrates multiple aspects of 21st century education.
The research task using digital media is highly student centred, as students are
engaged in their own learning with their teacher as a guide, rather than in an
authoritarian role (Senge et al., 2012). Rather than bring in a firefighter, the students
can actively research their own questions and concerns while the teacher works with
them in continuous learning. Furthermore, rather than children learning through
competitive question asking, which Senge et al. (2012) identifies to be a traditional
approach, they can work with each other through the use of technology, and share
their emotions and stories with one another. Children can engage in deep learning and
become leaders of their learning together (Fullan Langworthy, 2014). A limitation of
this approach is that not all students may have access to digital technologies at home
and can have limited experience, which can therefore cause a digital divide between
students and leave some disadvantaged.
It is understood that hands on experiences are considered by many to be the essential
condition for acquiring new concepts or understandings (Butts, Hofman Anderson,
1993, p. 1), however, there are some limitations to the 21st century learning approach.
A benefit of the hands on learning approach is the level of engagement it has for
children as it is about children being active participants in the task. This ensures equal
opportunity for
The Crisis Center For South Suburbia Essay
This past week at the Crisis Center for South Suburbia was not as eventful as the
past two weeks. The clients that were causing frequent verbal altercations have
either exited on their own, exited involuntarily, or been given a written warning in
which they are following the conditions of. I now have only one client on my
caseload, since the other had voluntarily exited herself and her son. On Monday,
10/31/16, I was able to help the children in shelter celebrate Halloween. We set up
trick or treating spots throughout the shelter and I also was able to handout treat
bags that were donated to the shelter. The kids seemed to have some fun with the
little celebration we were able to give to them. Also on that day, I worked my first
evening shift. The evening definitely has a lot more activity since most clients are
back from work or other commitments during the day. During this time, it was just
myself and D working. In the midst of all the activity, we had a medical emergency
that I was able to respond to. Tiffany* had been discharged from hospital with the
understanding that she had a mild heart attack and would need to have a stent put in
later. Upon arriving back from the shelter, something was just not right with her.
Myself along with another client, observed her in the kitchen staring at the counter
without moving for around five minutes. When she finally seemed to snap out of
whatever was going on, she tried to walk away but was stumbling and almost
Trip To The Dominican Republic-Personal Narrative
Brian turned his stare to Mr. Smith and voiced his displeasure. Maybe I was not
understood, Tim... I want Ms. Loran to accompany Mr. Johnson and me to the
Dominican Republic. She can provide valuable assistance to Mr. Johnson since the
main language in the country is Spanish, and she is fluent in the language. I should
not be surprised to learn he was aware I spoke four languages, but I was.
With a very uncharacteristic response Mr. Smith responded, Mr. Ross, if that is your
desire, we can, without doubt, make the necessary arrangements. My secretary will
coordinate travel arrangements right away. Brian replied, No time. We can leave
right away and I will fly everybody there.

When the doors closed, and the elevator began its descent, he caressed my hand.
With my peripheral vision, I noticed Brian caressing my fingers while he stared

my chest and moved away from his reach. As soon as the elevator door opened, I put
further distance between us.
As I walked to the exit, I realized that this trip was promising to become a long and
challenging expedition. Once inside Brian s limousine, we took our seats fast.
Brian and his lawyers sat directly across from us again. David picked up his cell

Film Analysis Pocahontas Essay
Film Analysis: Pocahontas
The animated Walt Disney movie Pocahontas is based on a true life story of a young
Powhatan Indian girl named Pocahontas who falls in love with John Smith. In the
making of the movie, Walt Disney, attempts to relate to the early 17th Century
historic event of Europeans settling in Jamestown; however, Disney did not portrait
the true story. Disney rewrote the story by making it a beautifully romantic and
animated love story like a Cinderella fairytale.
In the Walt Disney movie, Pocahontasand John Smith were both young adults when
they first met. Pocahontas was very alethic, and wore a one strapped leather short
dress and she had a tattoo on her arm. John Smith was a tall, handsome, clean shaved
man that wore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He started scouting around and began drawing maps immediately. He met
Pocahontas by almost shooting her by a water fall, and later they fell in love. He
was captured later in the movie while venturing out alone at night to meet
Pocahontas. John Smith was going to be executed on top of a rock at dawn, in front
of an army of colonists who planned to rescue him. In reality, John smith was
arrested and chained in irons during the voyage over, and he was released a month
after arriving to Jamestown, Virginia. After he was set free, he did a lot of exploring
and trading with the Indians. John Smith mapped most of the Jamestown area. He
was eventually captured while seeking food along the Chickahominy River. John
Smith was brought to Chief Powhatan and was sentenced to be executed. This is
when he actually met Matoaka, the real name of Pocahontas, and she rescued him
from execution. Matoake was the oldest daughter of Chief Powhatan. John Smith
became good friends with Matoake, and eventually Chief Powhatan adopted Smith as
his son. (Squidoo, Inc., 2012)
According to history, despite the fact that Pocahontas is most famous for saving the
life of John Smith, she never marries him. Smith returns to find the situation at the

Colonists are alive. Smith was accused of causing the deaths of his men. He was

The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein
What is unconditional love? According, to the children s poet Shel Silverstein it can
be understood through his book The Giving Tree that was written approximately fifty
years ago.
Unconditional love is known as affection without any limitations or without
conditions. Since the book was first published, over 5 million books have been sold
worldwide and over 10 million in print.
Repeatedly throughout this book the boy takes things from the tree, but never gives
back. The tree only wanted the boy to be happy and she would do anything to ensure
the boys happiness at any cost to the tree herself. The tree consistently displayed
examples of unconditional love. The boy would always come back throughout the
years with something else he wanted or needed from the tree. The thesis of this book

Later, the boy returns wanting a family and a house. Again, the tree gave what she
could. She gave him her beautiful branches that he use to swing on to build his house
with. The boy leaves again without filling the tree s needs.
Time goes by and the boy returns once more wanting a boat. The tree offered her
trunk to the boy, so he could build his boat that he so desired. Again, the boy takes
her sturdy trunk to build his boat, but does not give back to the tree.
After a long time, the boy returned to visit the tree and surprisingly he did not want
anything except for a place to sit and rest. The tree after giving all she had was still
able to give the boy one last thing, a comfortable stump to rest on. Throughout the
story, the tree consistently showed the boy
unconditional love through her generous acts of kindness, but the boy in return did
not show the same kindness throughout his life. Was is it right for the boy to just

Human Diversity Issues In Social Work
There are several issues related to issues of human diversity that have influenced the
development of my interest in social work. As I take a look around my community
and what is occurring in the world I notice the different cultures, environments, and
lack of humanity. I took an interest in these three categories and learned there are
recurring issues within each. There is a lack of cultural competency in the society.
Different cultures do not interact effectively with one another as much as they
should. A person may interact differently with a certain cultureonce they are forced
or need to. For example, a person may only interact with a person from a different
culture for work purposes or attending a certain event. Majority of people (cultures)...

The Israel Defense Force ( Idf )
In 2005, the Israeli government tasked the Israel Defense Force (IDF) to clear Israeli
settlements in Gaza as part of a disengagement strategy. The 8,500 settlers first
occupied the area at the end of the Six Day War in 1967 and created a robust
community and economy within the territory. Tasked with moving the settlers, IDF
Brigadier General Gershon Hacohen faced a challenging and complicated task to
remove the settlers from their homes peacefully. Hacohen s critical thinking process
faced tremendous challenges in an emotionally charged situation. The two Elements
of Thoughtthat posed the greatest challenge to his critical thinking were Points of
View and Implications and Consequences of his thought processes throughout the
operation.
Point of View Point of View describes the various references, perspectives, and
experiences affecting critical thinking. To think critically about a problem and create
potential solutions, a person must understand personal views, other alternative
perspectives, and irregularities or falsehoods within both. Hacohen faced two
potentially irreconcilable points of view in his mission: the perspectives of the
settlers and the Israeli government. The IDF and the settlers both believed they were
acting in Israel s best interest, but through different perspectives. One of Hacohen s
greatest challenges was understanding these different perspectives to create a solution.
The settlers believed the land rightfully belonged to them for
The Movie Donnie Darko
Background In the movie Donnie Darko, Donnie is a high school student who is
remarkably smart, but for the last several months has had trouble in school and
with his friends. His friends and family have always thought of him as weird , but
lately he has been acting more and more out of the ordinary. One night Donnie
wakes up outside in a golf course with no recollection of how he got there. When
he arrives home he discovers that a jet engine has crashed through his roof, and hit
where he should have been sleeping. Since that day Donnie has been having visions
of a six foot tall, doomsday preaching rabbit. This rabbit tells Donnie that the world
will end on a specific date (Ball, 2001). At first, Donnie does not pay attention to
the rabbit and tries to act normal around everyone around him. He loses all but one
or two of his friends because he begins to act and believe strange things. He starts
to believe that time travel is possible and fights with one of his teachers trying to
prove his point. During this time he becomes friends, then later develops a romantic
relationship with a girl. He disregards everyone else but her and has no desire to
interact with others (Ball, 2001). His visions intensifies and he starts seeing the
rabbit, whose name is Frank, everywhere. Frank tells Donnie to do things that
Donnie doesn t want to do, such as break into his school and cut the waterline, and
burn a motivational speakers house down. Despite having no desire to do these
Bmi Effect On Children
Body Mass Index (BMI) is the measurement of weight and height correlated to total
body fat content. In children, ages 2 18, if BMI exceeds 30 the child is considered
obese. If the child s BMI is greater than the 85th percentile, but under the 95th
percentile, the child is classified as overweight (Edelman, Kudzma, Mandle, 2014).
Healthissues associated with being overweight/obese include increased risk of
hypertension, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, or heart disease (Edelman et al., 2014). An
overweight/obese child is also at risk for social issues. Being overweight/obese can
have a social effect on children, by making them feel rejected by peers, and causing
them to have a low self esteem or negative view of their body (Edelman et al., 2014).
Gender Is The Reality Of Gender
We act as if that being of a man or that being of a woman is actually an internal
reality or something that is simply true about us, a fact about us, but actually it s a
phenomenon that is being produced all the time and reproduced all the time, so to
say gender is performative is to say that nobody really is a genderfrom the start.
(Judith Butler). Differences and opinions about genders are pointed out through most
of our precious time on this planet Earth and most of us are so used to this kind of
interaction with humans that it just becomes completely normal to us to hear about
all the time. When thinking about a man we imagine that gender showing a sign of
dominance, strength, and emotionless. When thinking about a woman we imagine
that gender showing a sign of nurturing, less dominant, and emotional. Because of
these stereotypical differences, this unfortunately leads to an inequality of some sort
that leads to segregation of tasks and disrespect between the two genders. The
argument here is that we re all the same but many people out there are too blind to
see it and they would much rather believe the myth rather than the truth. If this is the
case, what myths can be busted and show that both genders are really identical?
There is a ton of individual diversity within societies and sexes in regards to how sex
and gender play out in behavior and personality. But unfortunately, this concept is
confused with genders and sexes being the same thing when it really
The Face-Negotiation Theory and Stella Ting-Toomey Essay
In the world of communication, there are many theories which describe different
ways people communicate. According to Doctor Thomas Hanitzsch, an associate
professor of communication at the University of Munich in Germany,
Communication Theory is an international forum publishing high quality, original
research into the theoretical development of communicationfrom across a wide array
of disciplines ( Communication Theory ). A specific communication theory that will
be highlighted is the FaceNegotiation theory developed by Stella Ting Toomey.
Simply stated, Dr. Ting Toomey suggests that conflict is a consequence of identity
management on an individual and cultural level, and occurs when an individual or
group s face is threatened.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some additional information includes, that according to Stella Ting Toomey s Home
on the Web, Dr. Ting Toomey has held major leadership roles in international
communication associations and has served on more than fifteen editorial boards (
Stella ). To further explain the theory of Face Negotiation, when Dr. Ting Toomey
suggests conflict is a consequence of identity management on an individual and
cultural level, she means that culture has a significant impact in regards to identity
management. One s culture has defined rules as to how someone is to properly
interact amongst other individuals and groups, and these rules include values, norms,
beliefs and traditions. Generally, an individual would strive to adhere and follow all
of their culture s rules, and in turn, would view another individual turning against
those rules as a threat to their overall culture or beliefs. Similarly, Dr. Ting Toomey
states that conflict can come from a clash of these rules, a misinterpretation, or as a
result of misapplying certain expectations and standards for behavior for a given
situation (Griffin List ). The Face Negotiation theory suggests there are three goals
that any conflict will revolve around; content, relational and identity, or rather, needs,
interests or goals. Based on M. Afzalur Rahim s work, Dr. Ting Toomey and later
John Oetzel, identified eight distinct responses to conflicting situations based on an
incompatibility (Griffin
Characteristics Of Bona Fide For The Audience
Bona Fide for the Audience A step off the podium, an audience in applause, and the
thoughts inside whispering, How did I do? when they should be urging, What did I
give? The good news is that the audience can indeed become the focal point of any
speech if the speaker tailors their message toward it. In this paper, I will analyze three
situational characteristics and three demographics that contribute to the uniqueness
of my audience, explain why these traits matter, and briefly examine the scope of
their limitations in an attempt to understand the art of the invaluable audience
centered speech(Holloway, An Exercise in Audience Analysis ). Nervousness is
linear, at least for me it is. As the audience size increases, I find my nervousness
does as well. People usually have an audience of one every day in their normal
conversations, sometimes that might grow to an audience of two, three, or even four.
As the audience size increases, it s only natural to realize that it s more challenging to
please everyone. Sense of humor, attention span, interests, these are all variable and
unique to each audience member. How then, can this divide be reconciled? The
answer is simple and it s a technique that the education system has embedded in
students minds. Find similarities. Find common ground. (Fraleigh and Tuman, 141).
One way to ensure that the speakeris understandable and relatable to as many
audience members as possible is to utilize a technique called teaching in the middle
(Fraleigh and Tuman, 122). This method roughly calculates the median expertise in
the audience and tailors the speech toward that level. The audience that I will speak
to is large enough (approximately twenty five) to where I certainly need to factor in
this approach. It makes common ground much more achievable, while also humbling
the speaker, which makes for a friendlier relationship with the audience though they
may be more obligatorily than enthusiastically present. In the classroom setting, let s
face it, there are students who are watching the clock, patiently awaiting the end of
class. Yet some teachers have the ability to capture a student s attention so well that
the student might forget all about the time until the end of
A Brief Note On The Suicide By Firearms

March 20th, 2017
Emile Durkheim defined suicide as any death which is the immediate or eventual
result of a positive or negative act accomplished by the victim himself (Emile
Durkheim s Four Types of Suicide, 2014). Emile Durkheim began his studies on
suicide in 1897. He thought that economic, religious, and military factors would
greatly influence his findings. After he concluded his study he found that there were
four different types of suicide. The first type of suicide is Egoistic suicide. This type
of suicide occurs when the degree of social interaction a person has is low. ... Show

An example of this could be when the market crashes or spikes (Emile Durkheim s
Four Types of Suicide, 2014). The last type of suicide is Fatalistic suicide. People
generally commit this type of suicide are people whose lives are kept under tight
regulation. These people often live their lives under extreme rules. These types of
people are left feeling like they have no sense of self (Emile Durkheim s Four Types
of Suicide, 2014) .
Every year there are at least 20,000 firearm suicides in the United States. That s
more than 50 every single day. That s more than half of all suicides and two thirds
of firearm deaths. Research has shown that guns in the home make suicide three
times more likely. There are many reasons why the presence of a firearm in the
home can t be a risk factor for suicide. Having a firearm in the house provides
impulsivity for suicide at times. Also, firms are also so much more lethal than any
other method. Most people who survived a suicide attempt do not go on to die by
suicide, but only one in 10 people who attempt suicide by gun get that second chance
(Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence).
Typically, firearms are divided into two categories, there are handguns and long
guns. Handguns are firearms such as pistols that are designed to be held and fired
with one hand. The most common types of handguns are single shot handguns,
revolvers, and semiautomatics (Saferstein, 2016, p. 192 193). All handguns can be
classified as either single action or
World War I As The War
End All Wars knew World War I as the War. This massive war involved thirty two
countries but a country that had a very important role was Russia. In the beginning
two sides formed, the allies and the central powers. Russia was the first to mobilize
its army because it came to the aid of its ally Serbia after the assassination of their
Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a terrorist group from Austria Hungary. In result of
Russia mobilizing it s army, Germany, who was in support of Austria Hungary,
declared war on Russia. Due to the Franco Russian alliance drafted previously in
1892 France then mobilizes too. Soon after Germany declares war on France,
Belgium and Great Britain gets involved and they fought Germany on what was
known as the Western Front. A day after the Serbs defeat the Austro Hungarians at the

The Mesozoic Era
Jurassic is a period of time with Dinosaurs, rodents and birds. There were also island
seas consisting of sharks, sea monsters and blood red planktons. The existing plants
in that period were cycads, ferns and conifers. The Mesozoic era was about 245
million years ago to 65 years ago, so it almost lasted about 180 years in total. The
Mesozoic era is divided into three periods of Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous.
Mesozoic era means middle animals and it is the era, which the word s fauna has
changed from what is in the Paleozoic era and the most famous organisms of this
era are dinosaurs. In the Mesozoic era, the extinction of more than 90 percent of
species in the earth was observed and the reason behind it was mostly volcanic
eruptions and climate changes. On the other hand, this era had massive changes that
represented ecological niches and rise to new creatures such as rodent size
mammals and first dinosaurs. In Triassic, which was the first period of Mesozoic,
the mammals and first dinosaurs existed. Later than that, the second period was
Jurassic, which giant shaped dinosaurs and other kinds of dinosaurs were developed.
Besides that the first flowering plants and primitive birds, with long teeth appeared in
that era as well.

In Mesozoic era, there were only two continents present in the world. Mesozoic era
s climate compares to the Paleozoic era is more uniform and there were no trace of
glacial isotopes observed in that period. That is because of the
Diction And Views In Herman Melville s Benito Cereno
It is a clichГ© known by many: Always trust your gut. In other words, listen to your
intuition as first impressions matter. This saying reigns true in many works of
literature, including Herman Melville s 1855 novel, Benito Cereno. Throughout the
first part of the story, the main character, Captain Delano, struggles with whether or
not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San Dominick, its inhabitants, or its
captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient, it is clear that
Delano has his doubts about the foreign ship from the beginning due to the original
descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient
point of view in order to allow the audience to come to their own conclusions about
the ship, but also heavily utilizes diction and sentence structure to give readers
clues about what to expect from the characters and plot. To give the passage
context, Delano is finally seeing the San Dominick clearly for the first time, not yet
having met the passengers of the ship. Delano is alone and it can be assumed that
the description is his point of view, due to the fact that the anonymous narrator
appears to be pulling these images and renditions from Delano s mind. Because of
this, the reader is encouraged to think ahead about the ship s culture, its passengers,
and the types of things Delano will encounter if he decides to approach and explore
it. Throughout the passage, the author makes use of an overload of adjectives, all
Economic Policies, Fiscal Policy And The Monetary Policy
A recession does not just affect the lives of the people in the country that is having a
downturn in there economy but also it affect the global economy. The United States
have had several economy catastrophes that almost crippled the United State and the
rest of the world causing the government to act fast to slow down the economic
downward spiral. The United States government throughout history has attempted to
develop plans to slow down or prevent the country from having a complete economic
meltdown. In this paper I will explore two expansionary economic policies, fiscal
policy and the monetary policy which the federal government uses to help move the
economy out of a recession and effects they have on taxes, interest rate, GDP, and
employment. The Great Depressionis one of the greatest economic devastation in
history and the government was unsure how to bandage or slow down the bleeding.
The Great Depression was a learning experience for the United States government
and was where the Government would prepare and come up with a plan to deter or
prevent another depression. In the 1930s, the Great Depression was caused from the
stock market crashing and caused the global decline which had the value of
investment steady decline. Not only did this decline affect big business and the rich
but also it affect the middle class and poor, incomes, production of product, sales of

Top Reasons Users Don t Convert on Your Website
There are many reasons why users don t convert as buyers or sales leads on B2B
websites, and each company website has its own conversion killers that are unique to
the business and its online audience. A Stanford University study found that 80
percent of prospects judge a business s credibility by website design features.[1]
Many of the negative judgments that people make involve unfriendly mobile design,
lack of self service options and hard sell tactics that turn off members who prefer a
lighter touch that lets people make their own choices of whom to visit and engage
when they re ready to buy. Conversion rate optimization or CRO involves improving
a website s design, functionality and user experiences while eliminating those pesky
attributes that kill conversions.
Leading B2B Conversion Killers
It s useful for any company to make a list of conversion killers based on general
best practices and features unique to the business. Rectifying the issues might take
a website redesign, system integrations, customized features or fine tuning content
strategy. Median conversion rates for generic searches are only slightly higher than

Does Dalton Trumbo Challenge The Reasons For War In
Johnny...
How does Dalton Trumbo challenge the reasons for war in Johnny Got His Gun?
May Nakayama
Before World War I, many Americans have had a positive image of the war. Men
would go to war, return with honor and come back to their regular lives among the
others. In Johnny got his gun, a book by Dalton Trumbo published in 1939, was
inspired by an article he had read back then about a soldier who had lost all of his
limbs. From the perspective of the protagonist, Joe Bonham, a First World War
soldier who had suffered a severe injury and lost most of his senses, Trumbo uses
literary techniques such as symbolism, rhetorical questions, and imagery to challenge
the reasons for war.
Dalton Trumbo s use of symbolism is a powerful literary technique to challenge
the reasons for war. He uses concepts such as liberty to symbolise reasons to fight in
chapter 10. Using a concept as a symbol of reasons to fight gives an impression of a
mental reward, an unproven reward because A guy says house and he can point to
a house to prove it. But a guy says come on let s fight for liberty and he can t show
you liberty. (114) which supports his point; He can t prove the thing he s talking
about so how in hell can he be telling you to fight for it? . Using a concept to
symbolise the reasons for war also shows how easy it can be replaced ... Show more

A Prisoner of War is someone who has been caught by taken as a prisoner by the
opposing team in the war in this case it was the Australians, Chinese, Papua New
Guinea, Malaysia, Singapore and many more were captured and taken into the
Japanese camps. The conditions of these camps were nothing like anyone ever
imagined. They were surrounded with barbed wire, or a high wooden fence. Anyone
who ever attempted to escape these camps would end up being executed in front of
the other prisoners. The conditions of these camps were so bad they had long term
effects on the prisoners. The long term effects of these prisoners included Post

Disorder, Depression, Personality... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common disorder of them all was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(PTSD). PTSD is a disorder of persistent mental an emotional stress happening as a
result of injury or severe Psychological shock. This is naturally involving the
disturbance of and continuous flash backs and memories of the experience, with
dull responses to others and to everything in the outside world. Families of the
affected prisoners find it hard to see their loved one get easily startled, have
nightmares and even try to avoid social situations so they don t feel like they are
back on the battle fields. Research has shown that many of the families living and
dealing with a person who has PTSD may find themselves experiencing sympathy
for the person with PTSD, negative feelings about how the changed person they
are, avoidance of the same things the person with PTSD, depression of knowing
that things will never be the same as before the person went off to war, anger and
guilt of feeling responsible for making them happy before war, now knowing that
you cannot do anything to make them happy again and lastly health issues such as
not exercising, smoking, drinking can become worse when trying to handle a
family s member PTSD symptoms. When someone you care about has PTSD, it
affects you too. You are probably spending time and energy to help your loved one
cope (Lisa Frederiksen, 2012). The prisoners went
How The Six Steps To Preparing A Walk List For Precinct...
Six Steps to Preparing a Walk List for Precinct Delegate Election A precinct delegate
position is perhaps the smallest public position that register voters can run for. The
position is unpaid, partisan, and it is rather common among both Republican and
Democratic parties. Every state election laws and regulations include the definition
of precinct delegate roles. Moreover, depending on the state, a party may decide on
additional rules and regulations for precinct delegate positions. In addition, the
county parties also bear the authority to regulate the rules for precinct delegates.
Registered voters who wish to become candidates for precinct delegate positions
have to carefully review the laws and regulations for their particular state... Show

In case more candidates are registered in a precinct than the number of available
slots, a competitive election is established. During a competitive election,
registered voters who are present on party primaries will place their votes and
determine who will become precinct delegate(s) to represent them on county
conventions. In order to persuade enough registered voters to place their vote in
favor of a candidate, he or she has to develop a small campaign. Most precincts are
big enough to require walk lists. In order to obtain a walk list, the candidate has to
purchase voter data. Voter data file for a precinct is inexpensive, and it is better for
the candidate to buy voter data rather than obtain old election voter data. There are
two main reasons for this: Firstly, purchasing voter lists data using political
technology teaches the candidate how to create and manage an election campaign
with real funds, even if the costs are below $100. Secondly, the voter data obtained
through purchase is fresh, accurate, and targeted for candidate s needs. Step 1 To
begin, go to Walk Lists at https://walklists.com and click on Just buy data and walk

choosing one from the available dropdown menu. After selecting the desired state,
lock your selection by clicking on the lock icon. If your state is not found, click on

Henry Ford s Automobile And It s Effects On American...
Henry Ford s Automobile It s Effects on American Society
Over the course of the 20th century, the automobile has gone from being an expensive
toy of the rich, to being the standard for passenger transport in most developed
countries around the world (Urry). Not unlike the effects of the introduction of
Railways into society, automobiles have changed social interactions, employment
patterns, goods distribution and the basic face of urban society. The automobile itself
is a rather controversial issue. Supporters of the automobile claim that it is a marvel
of technology that has brought about prosperity, while opponents aver it leads to
urban planning that discourages walking and human interaction, uses non renewable
fuels, generates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ford believed that by paying people more, he would enable Ford employees to
afford the cars they were producing and be good for the economy. This new wage
plan was offered to men over the age of 22 who had worked for Ford for at least 6
months, and whose lifestyles were approved by Ford s Sociological Department (150
investigators and support staff who maintained employee standards ). Another
defining characteristic of Ford Motor Company is Henry Ford s adamant opposition to
labor unions. Ford Motor Company was the last Detroit automobile company to sign
a contract with the United Auto Workers union, having done so in June of 1941.
In more recent years, the Ford Motor Company has encountered some resistance
from environmentalists. Ford motor co. ranked 7th as one of the top corporate air
polluters in the United States releasing 9.67 million pounds of toxic air in 2002
(PERI). In an attempt to appease the criticism received due to their environmental
standing by announcing a plan in 2000 to improve the average gasoline mileage of a
line of its trucks by twenty five percent by 2005. This goal was never met; Ford
announced that competitive market conditions and technological and cost challenges
would prevent the company from achieving this
Developmental Autobiography Examples
The day of my conception in my mother s womb I have no recollecting of this
process. But, given my mother s theory after questioning her about this part of my
developmental cycle. She stated to me I was a very active baby at the beginning of
her 5th month of pregnancy, and before those months I was very calm and still within
her abdomen. At 7th month I started to suck on my thumb. This continued until the
day of my birth. She had immense cravings for cheesecake. But, never experience
morning sickness during her pregnancywith me. She had kept up with her prenatal
visits. She took her recommended iron and vitamins on a daily basis. I was a
spontaneous delivery.

As I stated before in my opening paragraph, this cycle of development was also voice
from my mother s point of view. From the cycle of my birth to 2 years old. I was
breastfed until six months and grew my first tooth. I began to crawl and ate baby
food at my seven months, took my first steps at my nine months and walked at the
end of my eleven months. My first words were Dada, and at fifteen months I was

The Greatest Causes Of The Scientific Revolution
The scientific revolution was a period of time where there was many
improvements of life, technology and understanding of the world around us. People
began to realize that nothing was being achieved when religion was the only
answer to anything and realised that you can have a good life before death. This
resulted in a new lifestyle for civilians and a happier life. The fight for who was the
cause of the greatest effect of the Scientific Revolutionis an ongoing debate. Today I
will be breaking down many people who put their foot forwards in a time of need
and seeing who was the greatest. They will be put into a bracket starting with eight
people on each side and within four tiers of battles (tier one being the first round of
battles and tier four being the championship or fight for who had the biggest impact
on The Scientific Revolution) there will be announced a winner. In the first clash of
philosophers in the first tier we have Francis Bacon versus Robert Boyle. These two
were matched together because of their involvement in early science. Francis Bacon
was the developer of the Scientific Method, which is one of the most commonly used
ways to figure anything out. Robert Boyle helped advance some things, but my
verdict is that overall Francis Bacon was more successful in long term advancements
so he wins. The next matchup of the first tier is Robert Hooke versus Joseph Priestly.
They were matched together because of their significance of their discoveries, and
how they
Examples Of Death In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
The belief of one being fated to die traces back to biblical times with the fate of
Jesus to die for the sins of the people. In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the narrator
interviews multiple people from a small town in Colombia to draw information about
the death of Santiago Nasar. Throughout the novella, MГЎrquez explains the deathof
Santiago Nasar by utilizing biblical parallels to comment on the irony of the town s
religious groundings, thus, condemning individuals who claim to be religious despite
their hypocritical actions.
Over the course of the novella, MГЎrquez describes Santiago Nasar as a Christlike
figure to create a connection between Nasar and Jesus, implying his role in the town
s society. To begin, the victim of the story is introduced with the name Nasar , which
could be taken to draw from the word ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, Santiago means Saint James with Santo meaning Saint and Yago meaning
James (MГЎrquez 3). His name foreshadows his ultimate demise since Jesus died
on the cross for his sins and Saint James was the first disciple to die for Jesus. The
connection between him and these biblical figures implies that his death is essential
to wash the town of their sins. The day of Nasar s death, his mother described him,
dressed in white linen that had been washed in plain water (7). MГЎrquez connects
Nasar s clothing to Jesus by using the color white, a symbol of innocence,
representative of how both Nasar and Jesus are innocent. By dressing Nasar in linen,
the audience anticipates the death of Nasar since linen is the material that Jesus was
wrapped after his death. The plain water that the linen was washed in represents
Nasar being baptized, symbolizing Nasar s purity and the washing away of the town
s sins. In
The Revolution Of The Reign Of Terror
Revolutions are often started as a response to an unjust form of government, and the
Reign of Terror s new revolutionary government was no exception. Although the
revolutionary government was meant to replace a tyrannical government, it quickly
turned into the dictatorial government it tried to replace and in many cases stepped
far outside of the bounds of lawful or just action. During late 18th century France in
the time period between the execution of King Louis XVI and the execution of
Maximilien de Robespierre, the Reign of Terrorsenselessly guillotined thousands of
people. Conditions in France in 1793 and 1794 were not serious enough to justify the
revolutionary government s response due to the response to external threats, response
to internal threats, and the extreme methods deployed.
The government s response to the external threats to France was indisputably
unjustified throughout the Reign of Terror. In 1972, France engaged in war with a
Prussian and Austrian coalition (Doc B). Austria and Prussia were primarily
motivated because the monarchy didn t want the French Revolution to spread to their
country and result in the loss of their own power. However, this is exactly what
happened when France took the Austrian Netherlands by 1795 (Doc B), an
unwarranted act of aggression that France, the defending country in the war, should
not have taken. French Г©migrГ©s were also threat to French society because of
their treasonous alliance with Austria and Prussia, which may
The Issue Of Domestic Violence
In February 2014, Ray Rice, a professional football player for the Baltimore
Ravens, got into a physical altercation with his fiancГ© in a casino elevator in
Atlantic City, NJ. Rice was indicted and charged with aggravated assault and the
NFL suspended him for two games. Many thought the NFL s punishment should
have been harsher, but the story quickly faded away. Later, in September of 2014,
a full video of the altercation in the elevator surfaced and was released to the
media. The video shows Rice and his fiancГ© arguing and hitting at each other; the
video ends with Rice knocking his fiancГ© unconscious and literally dragging her
out of the elevator. He stood there calmly, as if this was a normal occurrence, while
casino security and others were trying to help her. Rice, being a public figure,
brought the issue of domestic violenceto the forefront of all media outlets. For
several weeks this was the topic of all new stations, magazines, and internet sites.
The public was appalled at Rice s actions and many were angry at his fiancГ© for
sticking by him. Many questions arose about Rice s case and domestic violencein
general. For example, Doesn t he know any better ? Why did she go on to marry
Rice a month after the altercation instead of leaving him ? Should he be allowed to
play professional football any longer ? All of these questions and public concerns led
me to investigate domestic violence further and the epidemic of it in this country. The
main question I
Federal And State Judicial System
Around the world, courts make life changing decisions every day involving
individuals embroiled in various disputes and situations. These courts operate under
either a common or civil law framework. In the United States, the federal judicial
system governs the nation and each individual state, and each state has authority over
concerns that arise in its borders. The federal and state judicial systems use different
processes to select court judges, and the judicial system hears cases based on varying
criteria.
The Two Global Judicial Frameworks
Whether a court uses common law or civil law is ultimately determined by the court s
location. The United States and most territories formerly possessed by the British
Colonies practice common law, which has roots dating back to the Middle Ages.
With common law, judges hear cases and decide what ruling best serves the public s
interests. Once a judge makes a ruling, it is now a precedent that other judges and
lawyers will defer to when making future legal decisions. In common law practice,
there is not always a precedent that sets forth how a judge should handle a legal
matter; the judge decides which groups to protect, such as children or home buyers,
based on what will benefit society the most. When common court judges make a
ruling, they consider how the case outcome will affect the public. Finally, contract
law is not predefined in the common law system, which often results in extensive
contract language in an effort to prepare
Video Analysis Of The Texas Death Row Youtube Video
Texas Death Row YouTube Video In the Texas Death Row YouTube video, three
men were filmed through their journey living on death row, which include: Will Earl
Pondexter Jr., Johnny Raw Johnson, and David Martinez. The first man featured in
the documentary was Willy Earl Pondexter Jr. Pondexter broke into Martha Lennox s
home in October of 1998 turned and shot her point blank in the head. Lennox died
immediately and Pondexter was charged with first degree murder. Since Pondexter s
indictment in the murder of Martha Lennox, he has maintained his innocence. During
his trial, the State of Texas decided on the death penalty as to what would be
Pondexter s consequence. The second man featured in the documentary was native
Texan Johnny Ray Johnson.

  • 2. The American Architectural Firm Skidmore Introduction Formed in 1936, the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) is one of the most successful and innovate firms to focus on high end commercial building and lead the paradigm of the use of the modern international, or glass box style of skyscraper. Since its inception, the firm has designed and built several of the world s largest buildings including the John Hancock Center (1969), the Sears Tower (1973) and the Burj Khalifa(2010), currently the world s tallest building. The company has diversified and evolved and now offers services in Architecture, Building Services, Graphics, Digital and Interior Design, Structural and Civil Engineering, and most recently, Sustainable Design and Urban Planning (Adams). For many, in fact, SOM s postwar buildings are the essential building blocks to understand the modern movement in the United States. Biography SOM was founded by Louis Skidmore (1897 1962), Nathaniel Owings (1903 1984), and John Merrill (1896 1975). Merrill was the structural engineer of the group, while Skidmore was the architect, and Owings the visionary. Owings was known as the catalyst, the person in the firm who ironed out differences among clients, contractors and the planning commission (Barron). The strength of the three was that they had the vision to move beyond the standards of their time, to imagine a way to bring beauty and structural integrity to the needs of the modern urban environment, and to understand how to
  • 3. Why Did Kitty Genovese s Neighbors Fail For Take Action... On March 13, 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was stabbed repeatedly while several neighbors were vaguely aware of the unfolding events occurring outside. The lack of action on the neighbors part led to Genovese dying shortly after. Why did Kitty Genovese s neighbors fail to take action quickly? The psychologists John Darley and Bibb LatanГ© (1968) were interested in the Genovese incident and sought to find the answer to this psychological phenomenon. In their experiment, Darley and LatanГ© hypothesized that the higher number of bystanders would decrease helping behavior and vice versa. The two manipulated the number of confederates during each trial and recorded the time it took for the participants to report the simulated seizure. Their results confirmed that if were more confederates, each participant would feel less pressured to help, leading to the discovery of the bystander effect. The bystander effect is defined as the higher the number of people who notice an emergency, the less of a chance that those bystanders will help the victim (as cited in Aronson, Wilson, Akert, Sommers, 2015). The importance of the bystander effect is unparalleled because it determines whether humans will still help in a situation when there are other people available. Bystanders can deal with situations ranging from the mundane to the dire, but what matters is the number of those who take action. Inspired by the Genovese case, my partner and I wanted to see if the Tufts community, which
  • 4. Epidemic of Violence in the USA Essay Violence, one of the biggest problem in the world right now, especially in America, where the gun control law are barely enforced, every citizen is at constant risk, considering the amount of people in this country that own guns. Crime and violence are rapidly becoming the prime epidemic in the U.S today, but what can we do to ensure our future generation s safety? Gun violence is a big problem everywhere, in poor rural neighborhoods to prosperous urban cities like Malibu, it can happen anywhere at any time. The most deadly cases happen in suburban areas where no one would suspect any thing would happen, these areas are the prime target for mass shootings. Some of the most known tragic events include the Columbine massacre... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It angered a lot of people but unless the congress sees it the way the citizens sees it, this is a problem that is not easy to solve. Fifteen of the twenty five worst mass shootings in the last decade worldwide occurred in the United States of America. This is really telling people something about our country, it says people with guns are crazy and dangerous and America has a lot of it. Even though more guns don t necessarily mean more murders, the amount of unregistered guns out in the public is a real issue that cannot be ignored. About sixty percent of people in the U.S own guns, the estimated number of guns legally owned by civilians is 270,000,000 to 310,000,000 (FBI), and that s not counting all the illegally owned firearms. When asked why they need guns, most Americans say that its part of their rights and amendments, to protect themselves and their family. If most people with guns just want to protect themselves, why do so many people die every year from gun violence? The answer is all the illegal firearms that land in the hands of criminals and psychopaths. Because of the almost non existing rules and regulations, it is very easy for someone to illegally acquire a gun. These people get guns either from a corrupt dealer, private gun sales or a method these criminals call straw purchasing , the most common way a criminal obtain firearms. This is when someone

Vince Staple, a black rapper from Long Beach, California, began his career in 2009 through features on Earl Sweatshirt s album Earl Sweatshirt. His debut album, Summertime 06 (June 30, 2015) describes life for a low income black male in Long Beach, California, beginning with Lift Me Up, a description of how life post wealth has given him insight into the socioeconomic upper class. Lift Me Up provides to the album s overall story about issues of race through thick lyrics, strong rhythmic patterns, policies of respectability and uplift, and a very intense rhyme scheme and anti anti essentialist view. Summertime 06 describes the difficulty young black men face while living in poverty while white peoplesee those issues and brush them off insignificant problems. Lift Me Up , the first song of the album post intro, Ramona Park Legend, Pt. 1 , introduces the motif of poverty, violence, and fighting adversity through black unity. The short album lasting only 59 minutes and 5 seconds in length, despite being 20 tracks long, fits a large amount of African musical and cultural traits in to Summertime 06 and sets up the discussion of current racial issues and Vince Staple s solution and problems within a small amount of time. The creation of the album emulates the Motown method of heavy quality control, with all tracks contributing to the overall sound and power of the message. The lyrical significance of Lift Me Up overshadows all other aspects of the song, providing a
  • 6. How The Segmentation Task Would Be Implemented One of the most important steps towards the completion of this project was the formulation of how the segmentation task would be implemented. The segmentation strategy should be designed in such a way that it can efficiently deal with the main challenges of the dataset. Firstly, the method should be able to ignore background noise, as well as objects that are not LDL particles. Additionally, it should be able to deal with adjacent and overlapping particles. A widely used strategy[26, 4] is to face this problem as a binary classification task, with the goal of classifying each pixel that lies on the surface of the object of interest as 1 and every other pixel as 0. However, this strategy would lead to loss of spatial information about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Usually, more training data lead to a more robust network that can generalise better and as a result, make more accurate predictions. However, in some cases, it is difficult to acquire large amounts of training data, because their collection or production is either very time consuming or very expensive. In the case of the micrographs this project is dealing with, the manual annotation process is very time consuming (hence the need for the automation of this process) and this is why our dataset is limited to 41 images. However, in order to teach the neural network the desired invariance, a data augmentation strategy was followed. More specifically, left right and top down mirroring was applied to each image, which resulted in tripling the size of the original dataset. The same technique was also used on the corresponding manually created segmentation masks, resulting in a labeled dataset consisting of 123 examples. This augmentation strategy has been proved to boost the performance of convolutional networks in similar tasks [5]. Further augmentation of the dataset was initially considered by rotating the images by 90, 180 and 270 degrees, however, training the neural network on such a large dataset, turned out to be very computationally expensive, leading to very long training time and as a result this idea was abandoned. Additionally, to ensure that the memory requirements of the network during

Winston Churchill To survive in Russia s ice cream industry during the 11 years since the collapse of the former Soviet Union was no small feat (see Exhibits 1 and 2). To be successful in these turbulent times was nothing short of amazing to industry observers. In 2002, Ice Fili, a midsized Russian company with more than $25 million in sales, was Russia s top ice cream producer. Surprisingly, it had outlasted several well known international companies such as Ben Jerry s, which exited the Russian market in 1997, and Unilever, which left in 2001. Also, traditional Russian ice cream was made with all natural ingredients and did not contain preservatives. It was believed that Russian consumers were generally more concerned about preservatives in food than fat levels. According to an industry trade association representative, Millions of foreigners, after arriving in Moscow and tasting our ice cream, have proclaimed Russian ice cream to be the best in the world. 7 In the selling of ice cream, many products competed for the consumer dollar, including beer (Baltica and dozens of other domestic brands), soda (primarily Pepsi and Coke), yogurts, chocolate (Mars, NestlГ©, and numerous domestic players such as Red October), and other confectionary candies. The producers of these products often spent considerably more on advertising than ice cream producers.8 In 2001, ice cream producers spent less than $5 million on advertising in Russia (1% of sales), while the $4.5 billion Russian beer market spent approximately $90 million (2% of sales) and the soft drink industry spent almost $200 million (7% of sales) on advertising.9 The beer, soft drink, and confectionary industries enjoyed increasing market demand rather than the depressed trend found in the Russian ice cream industry. In 2000, the production of ice cream was down 3.5% from the year before; in
  • 8. Causes Of The Green Revolution The Green Revolution occurred around the 1940s, this was right after WWII had ended so many countries were not doing so well economically and this affected their agricultural abilities. During this time new technologies, to speed up the process of growing food, were introduced. Things such as fertilizers, pesticides, and modern irrigation systems were implementing into farming around the world. The Green Revolution was caused by the lack of enough food to support the growing global population , particularly in less developed countries, and the threat that this posed on the surrounding more prosperous countries. It yielded results, helping to feed many starving people in the world, but consequently it appeared to ruin some farmlands. Natural farming in years to come and negatively affected certain groups of people. The green revolution was caused, for the most part, by the lack of a substantial food supply for the world population. As Dr. Norman Borlaug said, there were billions of people in the world who were constantly plagued with hunger. They did not have the proper conditions or nutrient rich soil that are necessary for growing enough crops to sustain themselves. Dr. Borlaug was involved in the research for the Green Revolution, he predicted that unless the methods of the Green Revolution were fully implemented , then the results would not suffice, and the starving population would remain hungry. (Doc 2). President Truman expressed similar sentiments about the world

  • 12. The Naked Citadel Analysis With the help of authority, one would think change will speed up. However, this is not the case. In Susan Faludi s The Naked Citadel, individuals who value of the traditions and customs of the Citadel, a military school in the South, oppose to all ideas of reform. This particular case focused on the acceptance of the institution s first official femalecadet, Shannon Faulkner. Even with a court ruling in her favor, Faulkner was met with a lot hate and threats because she threatened the balance of a system. Individuals naturally tend to oppose and go against authorities or other individuals that try to refine their traditions and cultural practices, therefore slowing the constant progression of change. This slow radical shift is telling towards the nature that change occurs Change is often met with opposition, especially when it challenges one s culture and traditions. Look at all the criticism Shannon Faulkner received when she sued the Citadel in order to be allowed to attend the all male school. An alum claimed that Faulkner s legal efforts [is] an enemy invasion, placing his young troops under attack (Faludi 78). This juxtaposition between the court case and the idea of a troop being under attack shows how deeply this offended the cultural beliefs of the alum. The court case, although is much less extreme than an enemy invasion, evoked similar emotions of betrayal and stress in the alum. This exemplifies the negative views the cadets have on women, viewing them as
  • 13. Character Analysis Of Much Ado About Nothing, By William... Around the world, Shakespeare s works are read and analysed. His plays are sorted into four categories: Comedies, Histories, Tragedies and Romances. Much Ado About Nothing , by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the characteristics recurrent in elizabethan tragedies, despite being considered a comedy. These significant elements include: a villain, death, and a tragic love story. To begin, a Shakespearean villain is stereotyped as: an outsider, someone who feels the need for revenge, and someone who spends time plotting his evil actions. All of these elements can be found within Much Ado About Nothing s Don John. Illegitimate brother of Don Pedro, a nobleman from Aragon , Don John is certainly an outsider. Scene 2. 3 6) This quote shows Don John plotting his villainous plan to disrupt the love of Claudio and Hero. Don John is undouptably a Shakespearean villain that complements the other elements of this tragedy. Furthermore, William includes the element of death in his tragedies. In Much Ado About Nothing, death is often exaggerated and superficial. In Act 4, Scene 1, Claudio slanders Hero at the altar and Leonato has a desire to die. Hath no man s daggar here a point for me? (Act 4. Scene 1. 105) Death, at this moment is an exaggerated desire. Leonato feels so ashamed and embarrassed that he wants to die. Consequently, after the slandering, Hero, falls to the ground. Beatrice rushes to her side and calls out that Hero is dead. Hero is not actually dead, though the topic of death is superficial in this case. Hero can not handle the slandering and the fact that her own father would not believe her. Afterwards, the friar devises a plan that involves death. His goal is to clear Hero s name. The friar explains Let her awhile be secretly kept in, and publish it that she is dead indeed (Act 4. Scene 1. 199 200) Death is again being used but this time it is for deception. The friar continues She dying, as it must so be maintained, upon the instant that she was accused, shall be lamented, pitied, and excused. (Act 4. Scene 1. 211 213) The false death

From the beginning, the problem with the desire to eliminate Bardiya was that there was no heir, since Cambyses, as everyone knew, had died without male issue. According to Herodotus, it was not until after the murder of the magus and his companions that the Seven addressed the issue: The conspirators met to discuss the situation in detail. At the meeting certain speeches were made some of our own countrymen refuse to believe the were actually made at all; nevertheless they were. During the winter of 1777 to 1778, George Washington s Continental Army set up their post at Valley Forge, a military camp 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia. It was not big enough to be called a village it only had a few fieldstone houses and a mill for forging iron. The Quaker farms in the area offered good food and support for Washington s men, so they accepted. However, as the days went by, they realized that maybe that hadn t been such a good idea. The soldiers in the Continental Armyshould have left Valley Forgebecause of deathand illness, living conditions in camp (lack of food and clothing), and resentment towards Congress. Although Thomas Paine s words of encouragement in the American Crisis were inspirational, this didn t change the fact that the soldiers were suffering due to the extreme conditions in the camp. To begin, the soldiers should have left Valley Forge because there were many soldiers who began dying of death and illnesses that spread across camp. Noel F. Busch states that, by February 1, 1778, 3,989 out of 8,000 soldiers were sick , which was approximately 50% of the total population (Busch, 1974). According to researchers, the low estimate of soldiers who were dying in that year (1778) was 1,800 out of 8,000 people, which was roughly 1 person dead for every 2 soldiers (10%). This holds true because if you put in the time to succeed it will show. It opens with a first theme in F (same as key signature). The theme is four bars long; two bars of antecedant, two bars of consequent. Mozart then starts the first theme again with a 32nd note run pick up instead of the 16th note arpeggio pick up in the the begginning of the piece so we are prepared for variation in the second statement of the first theme. He then continues the theme with variation until the consequent phrase which is completely different from the first consequent phrase. This new consequent has not only faster rythmic movement but also compressed harmonic rythym. This tension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The I chord confuses the tonal direction becasuse the listener expects the ii to be followed by V and then I. This is even more confusing because the scale that accompanies the I chord implies V (the chord the listener wants to hear). The next bar rounds off this cadential prolongation (ii V I) but the exposition does not yet end. The arrival to I does not occur until beat three of the bar. The first two beats create even more prolongation as they nearly modulate. And even after this, the exposition is not done. There is a two bar codetta (a one bar figure played twice, the second time with variation) before the strong V7 I cadence with a C pedal tone. This is the first very strong cadence since the start of the closing material. Since the cadence at the end of the exposition is to C without any hint of F as a tonic, the Developement begins in C. In fact, it is clearly in C as its pick ups are a C arpeggio and the first bar looks and sounds like I and shows no indication of a Bb or any other scale alteration. The opening of the developement is also a textural change but seems to resemble old material in its melody. Both the first theme and the second theme have similar figures to the new material. The developement starts with tonal movement in each of the first two measures, I in the first measure and ii6 in the second. In the third bar the harmonic rythym increases with a I64 for the first two beats and a V7 in

In stanza three, it is stated by the narrator her highborn kinsman came and bore her away from me, to shut her up in a sepulchre. This represents Poe s macabre writing because the narrator s love has died and has been put in her tomb. This sets the dark tone that Poe uses in his macabre writings. Furthermore, in stanza four, the narrator also states That the wind came out of the cloud by night, chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. This describes how Annabel Lee died and this time Poe uses the word killing. Finally, in stanza five the narrator declares Neither the angels in Heaven above nor the demons down under the sea can ever dissever my soul from the soul of the beautiful Annabel Lee. In stanza six the narrator reveals he sleeps with Annabel Lee in her tomb by the sea. The fact that he shows that he must be suffering from mental trauma and that he sleeps beside a sea filled with demons (as stated in stanza five) shows Poe s the mastery of macabre writing in Annabel Lee. ... • 23. Disadvantages Of Digital Media Each practice discussed above integrates multiple aspects of 21st century education. The research task using digital media is highly student centred, as students are engaged in their own learning with their teacher as a guide, rather than in an authoritarian role (Senge et al., 2012). Rather than bring in a firefighter, the students can actively research their own questions and concerns while the teacher works with them in continuous learning. Furthermore, rather than children learning through competitive question asking, which Senge et al. (2012) identifies to be a traditional approach, they can work with each other through the use of technology, and share their emotions and stories with one another. Children can engage in deep learning and become leaders of their learning together (Fullan Langworthy, 2014). A limitation of this approach is that not all students may have access to digital technologies at home and can have limited experience, which can therefore cause a digital divide between students and leave some disadvantaged. It is understood that hands on experiences are considered by many to be the essential condition for acquiring new concepts or understandings (Butts, Hofman Anderson, 1993, p. 1), however, there are some limitations to the 21st century learning approach. A benefit of the hands on learning approach is the level of engagement it has for children as it is about children being active participants in the task. This ensures equal opportunity for

Gender Is The Reality Of Gender We act as if that being of a man or that being of a woman is actually an internal reality or something that is simply true about us, a fact about us, but actually it s a phenomenon that is being produced all the time and reproduced all the time, so to say gender is performative is to say that nobody really is a genderfrom the start. (Judith Butler). Differences and opinions about genders are pointed out through most of our precious time on this planet Earth and most of us are so used to this kind of interaction with humans that it just becomes completely normal to us to hear about all the time. When thinking about a man we imagine that gender showing a sign of dominance, strength, and emotionless. When thinking about a woman we imagine that gender showing a sign of nurturing, less dominant, and emotional. Because of these stereotypical differences, this unfortunately leads to an inequality of some sort that leads to segregation of tasks and disrespect between the two genders. The argument here is that we re all the same but many people out there are too blind to see it and they would much rather believe the myth rather than the truth. If this is the case, what myths can be busted and show that both genders are really identical? There is a ton of individual diversity within societies and sexes in regards to how sex and gender play out in behavior and personality. Some additional information includes, that according to Stella Ting Toomey s Home on the Web, Dr. Ting Toomey has held major leadership roles in international communication associations and has served on more than fifteen editorial boards ( Stella ). To further explain the theory of Face Negotiation, when Dr. Ting Toomey suggests conflict is a consequence of identity management on an individual and cultural level, she means that culture has a significant impact in regards to identity management. One s culture has defined rules as to how someone is to properly interact amongst other individuals and groups, and these rules include values, norms, beliefs and traditions. Generally, an individual would strive to adhere and follow all of their culture s rules, and in turn, would view another individual turning against those rules as a threat to their overall culture or beliefs. Similarly, Dr. Ting Toomey states that conflict can come from a clash of these rules, a misinterpretation, or as a result of misapplying certain expectations and standards for behavior for a given situation (Griffin List ). The Face Negotiation theory suggests there are three goals that any conflict will revolve around; content, relational and identity, or rather, needs, interests or goals. Based on M. Afzalur Rahim s work, Dr. Ting Toomey and later John Oetzel, identified eight distinct responses to conflicting situations based on an incompatibility (Griffin

Characteristics Of Bona Fide For The Audience Bona Fide for the Audience A step off the podium, an audience in applause, and the thoughts inside whispering, How did I do? when they should be urging, What did I give? The good news is that the audience can indeed become the focal point of any speech if the speaker tailors their message toward it. In this paper, I will analyze three situational characteristics and three demographics that contribute to the uniqueness of my audience, explain why these traits matter, and briefly examine the scope of their limitations in an attempt to understand the art of the invaluable audience centered speech(Holloway, An Exercise in Audience Analysis ). Nervousness is linear, at least for me it is. As the audience size increases, I find my nervousness does as well. People usually have an audience of one every day in their normal conversations, sometimes that might grow to an audience of two, three, or even four. As the audience size increases, it s only natural to realize that it s more challenging to please everyone. Sense of humor, attention span, interests, these are all variable and unique to each audience member. How then, can this divide be reconciled? The answer is simple and it s a technique that the education system has embedded in students minds. Find similarities. Find common ground. (Fraleigh and Tuman, 141). One way to ensure that the speakeris understandable and relatable to as many audience members as possible is to utilize a technique called teaching in the middle (Fraleigh and Tuman, 122). This method roughly calculates the median expertise in the audience and tailors the speech toward that level. The audience that I will speak to is large enough (approximately twenty five) to where I certainly need to factor in this approach. It makes common ground much more achievable, while also humbling the speaker, which makes for a friendlier relationship with the audience though they may be more obligatorily than enthusiastically present. Emile Durkheim began his studies on suicide in 1897. He thought that economic, religious, and military factors would greatly influence his findings. After he concluded his study he found that there were four different types of suicide. The first type of suicide is Egoistic suicide. This type of suicide occurs when the degree of social interaction a person has is low. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this could be when the market crashes or spikes (Emile Durkheim s Four Types of Suicide, 2014). The last type of suicide is Fatalistic suicide. People generally commit this type of suicide are people whose lives are kept under tight regulation. These people often live their lives under extreme rules. These types of people are left feeling like they have no sense of self (Emile Durkheim s Four Types of Suicide, 2014) . Every year there are at least 20,000 firearm suicides in the United States. That s more than 50 every single day. That s more than half of all suicides and two thirds of firearm deaths. Research has shown that guns in the home make suicide three times more likely. There are many reasons why the presence of a firearm in the home can t be a risk factor for suicide. Having a firearm in the house provides impulsivity for suicide at times. Also, firms are also so much more lethal than any other method. Most people who survived a suicide attempt do not go on to die by suicide, but only one in 10 people who attempt suicide by gun get that second chance (Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence). Typically, firearms are divided into two categories, there are handguns and long guns. Handguns are firearms such as pistols that are designed to be held and fired with one hand. The most common types of handguns are single shot handguns, revolvers, and semiautomatics (Saferstein, 2016, p. 192 193). All handguns can be classified as either single action or

This saying reigns true in many works of literature, including Herman Melville s 1855 novel, Benito Cereno. Throughout the first part of the story, the main character, Captain Delano, struggles with whether or not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San Dominick, its inhabitants, or its captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient, it is clear that Delano has his doubts about the foreign ship from the beginning due to the original descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient point of view in order to allow the audience to come to their own conclusions about the ship, but also heavily utilizes diction and sentence structure to give readers clues about what to expect from the characters and plot. To give the passage context, Delano is finally seeing the San Dominick clearly for the first time, not yet having met the passengers of the ship. Delano is alone and it can be assumed that the description is his point of view, due to the fact that the anonymous narrator appears to be pulling these images and renditions from Delano s mind. Because of this, the reader is encouraged to think ahead about the ship s culture, its passengers, and the types of things Delano will encounter if he decides to approach and explore it. A Stanford University study found that 80 percent of prospects judge a business s credibility by website design features.[1] Many of the negative judgments that people make involve unfriendly mobile design, lack of self service options and hard sell tactics that turn off members who prefer a lighter touch that lets people make their own choices of whom to visit and engage when they re ready to buy. Conversion rate optimization or CRO involves improving a website s design, functionality and user experiences while eliminating those pesky attributes that kill conversions. Leading B2B Conversion Killers It s useful for any company to make a list of conversion killers based on general best practices and features unique to the business. Rectifying the issues might take a website redesign, system integrations, customized features or fine tuning content strategy. Median conversion rates for generic searches are only slightly higher than 2 percent across all websites.[2] B2B websites receive fewer visitors than retail operations, so they ve got to do a better job of converting users into leads by convincing them to sign up for emails or a newsletter, register for faster service,

May Nakayama Before World War I, many Americans have had a positive image of the war. Men would go to war, return with honor and come back to their regular lives among the others. In Johnny got his gun, a book by Dalton Trumbo published in 1939, was inspired by an article he had read back then about a soldier who had lost all of his limbs. From the perspective of the protagonist, Joe Bonham, a First World War soldier who had suffered a severe injury and lost most of his senses, Trumbo uses literary techniques such as symbolism, rhetorical questions, and imagery to challenge the reasons for war. Dalton Trumbo s use of symbolism is a powerful literary technique to challenge the reasons for war. He uses concepts such as liberty to symbolise reasons to fight in chapter 10. Using a concept as a symbol of reasons to fight gives an impression of a mental reward, an unproven reward because A guy says house and he can point to a house to prove it. But a guy says come on let s fight for liberty and he can t show you liberty. (114) which supports his point; He can t prove the thing he s talking about so how in hell can he be telling you to fight for it? . Using a concept to symbolise the reasons for war also shows how easy it can be replaced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trumbo lists the words and concepts which are heard very

  • 47. The Greatest Causes Of The Scientific Revolution The scientific revolution was a period of time where there was many improvements of life, technology and understanding of the world around us. People began to realize that nothing was being achieved when religion was the only answer to anything and realised that you can have a good life before death. This resulted in a new lifestyle for civilians and a happier life. The fight for who was the cause of the greatest effect of the Scientific Revolutionis an ongoing debate. Today I will be breaking down many people who put their foot forwards in a time of need and seeing who was the greatest. They will be put into a bracket starting with eight people on each side and within four tiers of battles (tier one being the first round of battles and tier four being the championship or fight for who had the biggest impact on The Scientific Revolution) there will be announced a winner. In the first clash of philosophers in the first tier we have Francis Bacon versus Robert Boyle. These two were matched together because of their involvement in early science. Francis Bacon was the developer of the Scientific Method, which is one of the most commonly used ways to figure anything out. Robert Boyle helped advance some things, but my verdict is that overall Francis Bacon was more successful in long term advancements so he wins. The next matchup of the first tier is Robert Hooke versus Joseph Priestly. They were matched together because of their significance of their discoveries, and how they

In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the narrator interviews multiple people from a small town in Colombia to draw information about the death of Santiago Nasar. Throughout the novella, MГЎrquez explains the deathof Santiago Nasar by utilizing biblical parallels to comment on the irony of the town s religious groundings, thus, condemning individuals who claim to be religious despite their hypocritical actions. Over the course of the novella, MГЎrquez describes Santiago Nasar as a Christlike figure to create a connection between Nasar and Jesus, implying his role in the town s society. Also, Santiago means Saint James with Santo meaning Saint and Yago meaning James (MГЎrquez 3). His name foreshadows his ultimate demise since Jesus died on the cross for his sins and Saint James was the first disciple to die for Jesus. The connection between him and these biblical figures implies that his death is essential to wash the town of their sins. The day of Nasar s death, his mother described him, dressed in white linen that had been washed in plain water (7). MГЎrquez connects Nasar s clothing to Jesus by using the color white, a symbol of innocence, representative of how both Nasar and Jesus are innocent. By dressing Nasar in linen, the audience anticipates the death of Nasar since linen is the material that Jesus was wrapped after his death. The plain water that the linen was washed in represents Nasar being baptized, symbolizing Nasar s purity and the washing away of the town s sins. In
  • 49. The Revolution Of The Reign Of Terror Revolutions are often started as a response to an unjust form of government, and the Reign of Terror s new revolutionary government was no exception. Although the revolutionary government was meant to replace a tyrannical government, it quickly turned into the dictatorial government it tried to replace and in many cases stepped far outside of the bounds of lawful or just action. During late 18th century France in the time period between the execution of King Louis XVI and the execution of Maximilien de Robespierre, the Reign of Terrorsenselessly guillotined thousands of people. Conditions in France in 1793 and 1794 were not serious enough to justify the revolutionary government s response due to the response to external threats, response to internal threats, and the extreme methods deployed. The government s response to the external threats to France was indisputably unjustified throughout the Reign of Terror. In 1972, France engaged in war with a Prussian and Austrian coalition (Doc B). Austria and Prussia were primarily motivated because the monarchy didn t want the French Revolution to spread to their country and result in the loss of their own power. However, this is exactly what happened when France took the Austrian Netherlands by 1795 (Doc B), an unwarranted act of aggression that France, the defending country in the war, should not have taken. French Г©migrГ©s were also threat to French society because of their treasonous alliance with Austria and Prussia, which may

The Issue Of Domestic Violence In February 2014, Ray Rice, a professional football player for the Baltimore Ravens, got into a physical altercation with his fiancГ© in a casino elevator in Atlantic City, NJ. Rice was indicted and charged with aggravated assault and the NFL suspended him for two games. Many thought the NFL s punishment should have been harsher, but the story quickly faded away. Later, in September of 2014, a full video of the altercation in the elevator surfaced and was released to the media. The video shows Rice and his fiancГ© arguing and hitting at each other; the video ends with Rice knocking his fiancГ© unconscious and literally dragging her out of the elevator. He stood there calmly, as if this was a normal occurrence, while casino security and others were trying to help her. Rice, being a public figure, brought the issue of domestic violenceto the forefront of all media outlets. For several weeks this was the topic of all new stations, magazines, and internet sites. The public was appalled at Rice s actions and many were angry at his fiancГ© for sticking by him. Many questions arose about Rice s case and domestic violencein general. For example, Doesn t he know any better ? Why did she go on to marry Rice a month after the altercation instead of leaving him ? Should he be allowed to play professional football any longer ? All of these questions and public concerns led me to investigate domestic violence further and the epidemic of it in this country. The main question I
  • 51. Federal And State Judicial System Around the world, courts make life changing decisions every day involving individuals embroiled in various disputes and situations. These courts operate under either a common or civil law framework. In the United States, the federal judicial system governs the nation and each individual state, and each state has authority over concerns that arise in its borders. The federal and state judicial systems use different processes to select court judges, and the judicial system hears cases based on varying criteria. The Two Global Judicial Frameworks Whether a court uses common law or civil law is ultimately determined by the court s location. The United States and most territories formerly possessed by the British Colonies practice common law, which has roots dating back to the Middle Ages. With common law, judges hear cases and decide what ruling best serves the public s interests. Once a judge makes a ruling, it is now a precedent that other judges and lawyers will defer to when making future legal decisions. In common law practice, there is not always a precedent that sets forth how a judge should handle a legal matter; the judge decides which groups to protect, such as children or home buyers, based on what will benefit society the most. When common court judges make a ruling, they consider how the case outcome will affect the public. Finally, contract law is not predefined in the common law system, which often results in extensive contract language in an effort to prepare
