The aim of this report is to provide the company with a feasibility report for the proposal expansion.
The proposed expansion will require the company to have access to muesli, machinery and labour in
Japan in order to produce health foods, muesli bars and other confectionary products. This report will
analyse the political, economic, socio cultural, technological and legal environments (PESTL) that
exists in Japan, which will then be recommended to Carmen Fine Foods whether to expand their
business into Japan. The proposed expansion strategy is by exporting required resources from
Australia to Brazil, because they do not have the experience in working overseas.

Legendary Prince Hamlet
How must one deal with the ills of society? The heart breaks, fragmented relations with family, laws
of hypocrites, and the life of the unknown. How must someone take upon this challenge? To be, or not
to be (Line 57)? Is the unknown life of death the solution to the glitches of life? Will the roller coaster
of life ever cease or will one let it continue? Everyone must find their own trick of fighting through
the ills of society. No one can avoid them; not the rich, not the poor, not even God. The ills of society
is a part of life and one must learn how to deal with them. The legendary prince Hamlet is now facing
the challenges of life. Hamlet is not sure of how to operate this coaster of life. He don t know whether

Production of an Artificial Knee Joint
Production of an artificial knee joint begins with investment casting, a process that involves little to no
shearing. Investment casting produces products that have good surface quality and high spatial
accuracy. It is advantageous for parts with more complex shapes or materials that are difficult to form.
This method involves seven steps and results in the preliminary shapes of the femoral and tibial parts.
1. Wax Pattern Production Wax patterns function to shape the cavity within the mold. Though it is
called a wax pattern, the pattern may also include materials such as wax, stearic acid, plastic and other
industrial chemicals [3]. There are two ways to produce a wax pattern. For both, a wax cylinder is first
taken from heat preservation equipment and placed on a hydraulic die casting machine to remove any
air or geocerite from the wax. In one process, the wax is then poured into the mold and swirled around
until the inner surface is covered with an even coating. This is repeated until an appropriate thickness
is reached. The second method is to pressure inject the liquid wax into an aluminum mold. The mold
is then turned upside down so the liquid wax is removed and the remaining wax layer is left to cool
and harden. 2. Wax Pattern Assembly In order to improve productivity, workers usually assemble
multiple patterns on a holder made of wax. They are held together with melted wax, producing a
pattern tree so that many wax patterns can be made at once. Patterns with

Pythagoran Influence On Greek Society
The world of chaos and disorder has become the world of order and harmony. Ever since the ancient
Greek times, chaos has been in existence. This led people to start thinking outside of the box. Many
people started questioning why somethings were the way they were. As a result many philosophers
emerged in the pre Socratic times. Many people did not understand the world around them back in
those times. Gods were created for various reasons so that they can help explain certain phenomenons.
For many years, people used to live like this until some people started using logic and reasoning to
explain how things happened in the universe. These people that started thinking differently are known
as pre Socratic philosophers. Greek mythology came out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However these were not the only fields in which discoveries were being made. One of the many men
that had made a huge impact on Greek and modern culture is Pythagoras. He is known for many
things including the Pythagorean Theorem. Pythagoras was from the same city Thales was from,
Miletus. As his life went on he moved to Croton, which was in the southern part of Italy. This is where
the secret religious society: Pythagoreans, was established. The Pythagoreans had taken over Croton
and various other Greek cities in the southern part of Italy. Pythagoras was also know for discovering
harmonics and shapes. The concept of harmonics is known as music in the modern word. The
Pythagoreans identified a pentagram on their hands. They called it the golden rectangle because it had
special properties. As the number of Pythagoreans increased and all of this knowledge started
emerging, cosmos was starting to build. Cosmos was a fundamental Pythagorean belief. Cosmos
means orderly universe. The Greek culture transitioned from a society filled with chaos where all gods
controlled various things to, universe filled with

Evaluation Of Rehabilitation For Patellar Dislocation
This paper is a review of rehabilitation for patellar dislocation. Patellar dislocation occurs when the
patella slips out of the patellofemoral (trochlear) groove, most often laterally (Cheatham, Kolber,
Hanney, 2014; Enix, Sudkamp, Scali, 2015). This can occur from direct trauma such as sudden
mechanical forces exerted on the patella (Respizzi, Cavallin, 2014; Duignan McGibney et.al., 2016).
The injury can also be the result of indirect trauma such as when the foot is fixed on the ground and
biomechanical abnormalities of the lower leg come into effect (Respizzi Cavallin et.al., 2014 et.al.,
2014; Duignan McGibney et.al., 2016). Lateral patellar dislocation primarily affects younger active
populations (between 10 and 17 years old) and usually occurs due to injury during physical activity
(Balcarek, Oberthür, Frosch, Schüttrumpf, Stürmer 2014; Ménétrey, Putman, Gard, 2014; Tsai, Hsu,
Hung, Hsu, 2012; Lehman, Beckman, Craig, 1989; Calapodopulos, Nogueira, Eustáquio,
Calapodopulos Júnior, Rodrigues, 2016; Petri, 2015; Cheatham et.al., 2014; Enix et.al., 2015). 55%
72% of first time patellar dislocations occur from sports (Tsai et.al., 2012; Petri et.al., 2015). Studies
have also shown that women are more prone to patellar dislocations than men (Vitale, 2016; Tsai
et.al., 2012; Duignan McGibney, 2016; Calapodopulos, 2016; Cheatham et.al., 2014; Enix et.al.,

Michael And Salhab s The Knights Templar
In the book The Knights Templar of the Middle East, The Hidden History of the Islamic Roots of
Freemasonry, the authors Michael and Salhab assert that Hughes de Payens family background was
rooted in Shiite and Sufi mysticism (p. 68). Hughes de Payens was the co founder and Grand Master
of the Knights Templar. Like the early history of the Templars, little is known about Payens since
sources about his life are certainly lacking. So we are left to wonder where Michael and Salhab has
gotten this tantalizing detail. Sufism itself seems to have strong Gnostic undertones in the belief that
Muslim seeker is striving for hidden, divine knowledge and love through direct personal revelation
from God (or Allah), without the need for a priest, vicarious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This view was upheld by many including the great poet, Dante Alighieri. However, as the
Enlightenment period dawned on the great thinkers, the Templars were seen more as victims of heresy
as there was a strong Gnosticizing trend in eighteenth century thought. This was also evident in the
mystical illumination roots of the Enlightenment area in the hermetic traditions of Renaissance Neo
Platonism and Cabbalism. Indeed, many of these thinkers, including Albert Pike and Purgstall claimed
that the Templars were secretly Johannite Gnostics who also venerated Zoroaster and Manes. They
were essentially a secret society totally opposed to the Church but outwardly were completely loyal to
the Church and the Pope. Partner writes, Their spiritual independence of the Church was not based on
any low or vulgar magical powers of conjuring, but on the possession of a veritable house of
knowledge, a Temple of wisdom which was symbolized by the name of their Order (xviii). Then there
is the view that the Templars were not at war with Islam but were in fact in league with the Ismaili
sect of the Assassins, who were secret philosopher mystagogues who initiated the Templars in the
precepts of their House of Wisdom. Purgstall would wonder the same thing, when he wrote: What
wonder that those knights confederated with the Assassins and imbued with their nefarious doctrine
and, passing time in Syria, affected by the error of the Syrian sects, waging war in the Orient, indulged
the same defect conjointly for themselves in all the Oriental

Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders
The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and takes
things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on different
circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional illnesses that can
be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic therapists are based off of
Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as addictions, eating disorders and
depression by considering how previous experiences have been taken into your thought process and
dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we think and how we act in response to
those thoughts in either a negative or positive way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple
reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on
books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person
takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and
the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the
person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this
is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they
actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient
doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie
and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will
Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around
and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his
therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his
walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time
and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why
therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to the
inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the person, not
the environment, which what we re a main

Essay on Horror Theories in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2
Horror movies are based on humanity s disturbing, inner thoughts that are kept hidden by
sophisticated and civilized facades. The fact that people pay money to go watch their own race be
slaughtered shows that civilization has two sides. There are many theories as to why humans act the
way they do, such as Steven King s beast within and potential lyncher theories and Stanley Solomon s
exploration and romantic isolationism theories. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 does a fantastic
job of displaying these theories about the horror genre if one knows what they are looking for.

He also believed that since everybody is insane, insanity comes down to how insane someone is (785).
King s potential lyncher theory correlates with the beast within theory. This theory simply explains
that everyone has the potential to a masked murderer if they don t keep their dark sides tamed (785).
Stanley Solomon s exploration theory is a very well known theory in the horror genre. The theory is
the reasoning behind why characters in horror movies always act so irrationally and brainless. Why is
it that the defenseless girl always puts herself in a dangerous state by exploring? Sometimes it is ironic
that the victim is lurking around in a dangerous place because they have yet to be informed that a
monster is in their presence (795). Other times though, the victim explores even though they know
they are putting themselves in danger (795). As one watches these movies, they typically pity the
character. The fact that the viewer sympathizes the victim for acting so absurd tells humans something
about themselves. They want to explore as well (795). As audiences watch, they want to cover their
eyes in fear, but force themselves to watch the film anyways. Solomon predicts in his theory that
humans do this because the ultimate irrationality of this typical moment of horror in the nightmare
film represents our own subconscious desire to confront our inevitable dread: to meet death before we

regions that finance them to target countries some hardly leave any traceable trail. As regulators

Film Adaptations Of Stieg Larsson s Man
In both film adaptations of Stieg Larsson s Män Som Hatar Kvinnor (Men Who Hate Women), the
2009 Swedish film directed by Niels Arden Oplev , and the 2011 American version, renamed The Girl
with the Dragon Tattoo , directed by David Fincher, the two principle characters only meet halfway
through the film. For a significant portion of the movie, they interact only by spying on each other. As
a film that addresses differences between male and female interactions, the presence of a male or
female protagonist is important for the viewer s understanding. Though almost equal presences on
screen, the perspectives from which the film is told vary between the two adaptations.
The notion of perspective is shown clearly in a revenge scene in the beginning of the film. As the
scene begins, Lisbeth Salander, the main female character in both films, has secretly recorded her rape
at the hands of her guardian, Bjurman. She goes to his apartment and ties him up before assaulting
him in revenge. After doing this, she shows him the video that she had secretly recorded of her assault
during the previous visit. The two scenes of Bjurman watching her video differ between the American
and Swedish films. In Oplev s film, the video is presented from Salander s perspective. The viewer
sees Bjurman opening the door from Salander s perspective as she faces him but the frame is
shortened so his head is not visible. Oplev pans down from the video screen to Salander s head as she
talks to Bjurman. He

White Beauty Perceptions In The Bluest Eye By Toni Morrison
The Bluest Eye is a story written by Toni Morrison in 1970. The Bluest Eye gives readers a deep
descriptions of the ways white beauty standards deformed the lives of blacks girls and
women.provides an extended depiction of the ways in which internalized white beauty standards
deform the lives of black girls and women. Pecola let white beauty standards deform her life. People
believe that having the bluest eyes would change the way people viewed her and her view of others.
Whiteness being superior is shown throughout the entire text through implicit messages. The title of
the story explains the book basically. Pecola had a strong aspiration for blue eyes. She had a certain
insight on having blue eyes that wasn t necessarily correct. Pecola didn t believe she was up to the
beauty standards of the society. She honestly believed that the cruel things she is put through on the
daily is the effect of how she is seen by others. She has a honest feeling that if she obtains blue eyes
people will look at her and treat her differently because she feels like she ll be closer to the beauty
standards and being accepted. The thought process of Pecola was that if she had those pretty blue eyes
people would not want to do negative things to or in front of her. The accuracy of this insight is
confirmed by many of her daily experiences. There was a few times Pecola along with her family were
being mistreated because of the color of their skin, which is showing how whites were superior

Of An Hour And Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener
Kate Chopin s Story of an Hour and Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener , both demonstrate the
theme of isolation and going against the oppression that was around in their time. Kate Chopin s main
theme is about how married women have less freedom and are restricted in the 19th century. She
portrayed it by talking about the experience in Mrs. Mallard s point of view when, she heard her
husband was presumed dead in a train accident. The way Bartleby, the Scrivener was written, through
the use of the setting imply that Bartleby is going against something he himself cannot change.
Bartleby s action was going against the working world, by refusing to eat and participate in the
economy, since Bartleby was not cooperating with anyone and protesting by himself. Compared to
Story of an Hour , Bartleby, the Scrivener shows more of the theme of justice because Kate Chopin s
story was more focused toward Mrs. Mallard without explaining the circumstance of why she wanted
freedom. While Bartleby, the Scrivener showed more detail regarding the setting of Bartleby, which
makes it easier to understand that he is rebelling against the system for his belief, even if he cannot
change anything by himself. Both works demonstrate the theme of isolation and resistance, however
Herman Melville express the theme better because of his use of characterisation and setting involved
in the story.
Kate Chopin is implying that getting marry is a bad thing because if one has an unhappy

The Controversy Over Gun Control
In the past few years Gun control has become a hot topic throughout America. With all the shootings
going around the United States, we are faced with controversies over gun control. Americans believe
that their government is going to do whatever is best for them, but is that true when they are trying to
strip us of our rights that were created for us over 300 years ago. Our country has been thriving with
the amendments and laws set before us, and today we are trying to change them. But by just changing
a few laws is that really going to stop a criminal from getting what they wanted, there criminals for a
reason. Our second amendment gives us the right to bear arms and protect our selves from enemies
foreign and domestic. This is the foundation of country; we fight to keep the right that were given to
us, so that we can protect our families, our country, and our freedom. America has always prided it
self on being the land of the free , but with freedom comes sacrifices. However, most Americans do
not see the significance of freedom, because we are sitting on our couches living normal lives, and on
the other hand we have those individuals that joined the armed forces to keep us a safe and protect our
freedom. Lawrence Hunter stated that The Founders understood that the right to own and bear laws is
as fundamental and as essential to maintaining liberty... With liberty comes freedom and the right to

At the heart of his theory was the idea that people acted to maximize their rewards in their social
action. Social exchange theory includes the following concepts: success, stimulus, value, deprivation,
satiation, aggression, and approval. Homans defined each of these concepts explicitly in his book and
various articles. The success concept which he defines is the principle of reward. (Homans, 1983, p.
33) While stimulus is defined when a stimulus presents itself and it resembles a previously rewarded
activity, that individual is likely to repeat that action again. (Homans, 1950, Chapter 4) Homans
defined value as a system of rewards and punishments. (Homans, 1983, p. 32) Deprivation and
satiation was defined as the more often a reward has recently been received, the less valuable further
rewards become. And if forced for a long time to go without a certain reward, an individual will lose
interest and move on. (Homans, 1983, p. 33) Lastly, aggression and approval falls under the principle
of distributive justice. When behavior does not receive the expected reward the response is anger. Yet,
when the individual receives a greater reward than what is expected or does not receive punishment he
will be pleased. (Homans, 1950, Chapter 4). One of the expected outcomes by the application of this
theory would be linking client nurse interactive phenomena with client outcomes (Byrd, 2006, p. 271).

Intravenus Lines
Intravenous fluids are administered through either a central or peripheral line. A central line is an
intravenous line made of a small flexible tubing used to intravenous medications, blood, or to collect
blood samples. A central line is inserted under the skin away from the vein, and it comes out from a
subcutaneous route. A cuff is placed around the tunneled part of the line securing placement and
helping to prevent infection to the insertion site. Central lines are inserted into large veins in the
central circulation (Caring, 2015). The catheter is threaded into the internal or external jugular vein; it
can also be threaded into the lower third of the vena cava leading to the superior part of the right
atrium. When inserted, a chest x ray is done to confirm placement and position of the catheter, and to
check for pneumothorax (Central, 2015). A peripheral line is a vein in the arm, hand, or in an infant in
the scalp. A peripherally inserted central line, also known as a PICC line, is another type of catheter
used to administer intravenous medications. PICC lines are inserted in the inner arm toward the
shoulder, moving to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When caring for a central line of a small child for infant, never let the child chew on it and make sure
not to put it in the genital area (Caring, 2015). Do not let anyone play around or with your central line
because a broken central line can hinder your treatment and cause harm to others. Letting pets and
others near the central line can cause germs to enter the line, and germs can cause a blood stream
infection (Caring, 2015). Make sure to store all supplies and medications out of the reach of children

Asthma Pathophysiology
Pathophysiology Asthma is a disease of the lungs that can be influenced by different genes or alleles.
When the epithelial or mucosal barrier is exposed to pollens, allergens, microbes or pollutants, these
can stimulate the underlying antigen presenting cells (APC) which causes an immune response to
occur.17 This can cause a cell influx into the airway that is primarily eosinophilic or neutrophilic.
When the allergens present themselves, they can initiate a breakdown in the physical barriers, causing
further allergic, inflammatory responses.
Epidemiology
According to a 2012 report the incidence of adults with asthma ranges from 5.8 11.1% across the
states.10 According to the report, those reporting asthma have anywhere from a mild to a severe form
of the disease, the latter causing exacerbations or attacks. According to this report, asthma incidence
has increased from 2001 to 2010. At least 4% of the worldwide population is afflicted with asthma.11

African Leaders Established The Organisation Of African...
Introduction
In the 21st Century, the African continent leaders wanted to establish a more united continent. It is for
this reason that the African leaders established the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, with the
purpose of eradicating colonialism in Africa, and harmonize and deepen collaboration efforts of
member states to achieve a better life for its people. A number of problems emerged such as the 1975
Angolan civil war and the Somalia invasion of Ethiopia 1978, besides most African economies were
on the decline, these issues among others weakened the competence of the OAU. Beginning of 1999
certain leaders began to question why the OAU failed to prevail and resolve the social ills that
afflicted Africa (Bujra 2002) Therefore, the OAU was scrapped and the African Union was established
on 9th July 2002 with the key objective of upholding peace, security and stability on the African
continent. Ever since, the AU has launched military operations to help control clashes in Burundi,
Sudan, Somalia and the Comoros. This paper will discuss the Darfur Crisis which militarily escalated
in 2003. The deployment of AMIS took place in a complex context representing the first real test of
the AU s peacekeeping capacity ,( Ouguergouz Yusufu 2012, p. 365). Ouguergouz and Yusufu assert

Dody Dysmorphic Disorder
Body dysmorphic disorder or BDD is a type pf mental illness in which you can t stop thinking about a
flaw in your appearance. You intensely obsess over your appearance and body image, often for many
hours a day. Your perceived flaw causes you significant distress, and your obsession impacts your
ability to function in your daily life. You may seek out numerous cosmetic procedures or excessively
exercise to try to fix your perceived flaw, but you re never satisfied. Body dysmorphic disorder is also
known as dysmorphophobia, the fear of having a deformity. Although the exact cause of BDD is still
unclear, experts believe it is related to problems with serotonin, one of the brain s chemical
neurotransmitters. Poor regulation of serotonin also plays a role in obsessive compulsive disorder
(OCD) and other anxiety disorders, as well as depression Some people may be more prone to
problems with serotonin balance, including those with family members who have problems with
anxiety or depression. This may help explain why some people develop BDD but others don t.
Cultural messages can also play a role in BDD by reinforcing somebody s concerns about appearance.
Critical messages or unkind teasing about appearance as someone is growing up may also contribute
to a person s sensitivity to BDD. But while cultural messages, criticism, and teasing might harm
someone s body image, these things alone usually do not result in BDD. People with BDD obsess over
their appearance

School Dress Codes And Stereotype Girls
A distraction is defined as anything that prevents someone from giving full attention to something
else. Schools ridicule and stereotype girls as distractions . School dress codes have been modified to
fix the distracting criteria. From filling ideals of modern day sexism, diminishing personal expression,
and finally targeting self esteem. Ideals of modern day sexism are a huge problem in our society. From
a young age girls are taught our bodies are always sexualized and we must cover them. Schools

The Prudhoe Bay Oil Spill and a Commitment to Being Green

Case Summary The Angelo Persian Oil Company was formed in 1909 by a wealthy Englishman
named William Knox D Arcy. It did not operate under the British Petroleum (BP) name until 1954. In
early 1959, BP discovered hydrocarbons under the North Sea and Alaska, and found the West Sole gas
field in 1965 which was the first oil exploration success in British waters. In 1969, BP discovered
major oil deposits in Prudhoe Bay on the North Slope of Alaska. The refining and marketing of the

Things were going very well for BP, until March 2006 when crews discovered a small hole in the
pipeline at the Prudhoe Bay oil fields. The company is responsible for the northern Alaskan oil fields
and had no indication there was a leak until it was too late. Between 200,000 and 270,000 gallons of
crude oil leaked out of the hole in the pipeline over a five day period, and became the second worst oil
spill in the United States. The worst oil spill was a result of the Exxon Valdez tanker hitting a barrier
reef in Alaska s Prince William Sound in 1989. More than 11 million gallons of crude oil was
accidentally released into the water, and the region is still impacted environmentally from the spill.
The leaking pipeline disaster will have very similar severe environmental impacts on the region and
will definitely taint the company s image of safety and environmentally friendly operations for many
years to come. With the increase in oil exploration in the region, the quality of oil has significantly
declined. The lower quality oil flowing through the pipeline causes stress on the pipes leading to
corrosion and deterioration. Some of the pipeline is underground and, therefore, making it difficult to
detect a leak in those areas. BP has increased its budget to inspect the pipeline for corrosion, as well as
using an additive to breakdown emulsions in the oil. The pipeline was

The Urinary Tract Infection ( Uti )
A Urinary tract infection (UTI) including the bladder and kidneys, is an infection that encompasses the
entire urinary system. The kidneys and bladder filter the blood to make Urine. A urinary catheter is a
thin tube placed in the bladder to drain urine. Urine drains through the tube into a bag where the urine
collects. When the whole system is compromised, a patient can become very ill. A catheter provides a
link between the outside environment and a usually sterile system. Now that the catheter is in place,
microorganisms are no longer removed by normal voiding. Germs do not usually live in the region of
the urinary system, but when they are re introduced through the absence of voiding, infection becomes
a problem. A urinary catheter may be used when you cannot urinate on your own, to measure the
amount of urine you produce, during and after certain types of surgery and during testing of the
urinary system. Health care associated infections(HAIs) are an on going issue, specifically the
prevention of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Simply put, those with catheters
have a higher chance of obtaining a CAUTI than patients who do not. CAUTI is the most frequent
type of HAI, and represents as much as 80% of HAIs in hospitals.(The Joint Commission, 2011) This
high occurrence of infection in hospitals creates a high concern in patient centered care. The hospital

Individuality And Morality In A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange: Individuality, Morality, and Growing Up
Anthony Burgess s novel, A Clockwork Orange, presents a struggle between animalistic urges and
mechanistic society by way of the motif of a clockwork orange. Many would agree that a clock and an
orange share little in common other than the fact that they may both be round. However, the organic
nature of an orange combined with the precision and mechanics of a clock curiously imitates the way
people respond to everyday influences. Anthony Burgess capitalizes on the differences between these
two seemingly unrelated objects to present the connection between morality and conformity within the
confines of the novel s narrator, Alex. Throughout the three parts of the novel, it becomes more
apparent that every seemingly harmless life can be manipulated by the clockwork of society. Alex is a
young boy living in the near future, whose obsession with the brutality of the world around him causes
him to act violently. The portrayal of the character Alex as both a protagonist and an antagonist
highlights the psychological turmoil associated with conforming to society by sacrificing either
morality for individuality or individuality for morality.
The word faithful is often misinterpreted as always having a positive connotation. The dictionary
definition of faithful, adhering or true to fact, a standard, an original , can be interpreted more widely
(Dictionary.com). In the beginning of A Clockwork Orange, Alex refers to himself

The Battle Of The Union Line
Even despite Jackson s victory on May 2nd, by the next morning Hooker s forces were still in a strong
position. Union forces numbered 76,000 to Lee s 43,000 and overnight Reynolds corps from
Fredericksburg had arrived to replace Howard s defeated corps. Hooker then ordered Sickles to
withdraw his men from Hazel Grove to a new position on Plank Road. This decision by Hooker was
another costly mistake because it conceded the only high ground to the Confederates. After Sickles
movement back to Plank Road, the Union line resembled a giant horseshoe around Chancellorsville.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., Lee attacked the Union line from all three sides: Stuart, who had taken
over for Jackson from the west, Anderson from the southeast, and McLaws from the east. Using their
newly acquired ground at Hazel Grove as an artillery platform to support the assault, the Confederates
beat back the Union s fierce resistance around Chancellorsville. At around 10 a.m. after the heaviest
fighting of the battle, Hooker ordered his army to retreat to a position circling their ford site of the
Rappahannock. As Lee rode up to survey the scene at Chancellorsville wild triumphant shouts came
from his soldiers (Sears 365). However, Lee s moment was cut short upon the news that Sedgwick s
forces had broken through the Confederate s east flank at Fredericksburg. Sedgwick, following orders
from Hooker had attacked Early s small Confederate contingent left at Fredericksburg at 7 a.m. Early s

Why Is Finitude Important In Malcolm X s Life
Human beings are not as perfect as we d like to believe. We are constrained by our abilities, actions,
knowledge, and death to live a life that can never reach its full potential. This concept of finitude plays
a significant role in Malcolm X s life and autobiography. X becomes aware of this aspect of the human
condition at a very early age and it seems that he acts with this idea almost always in the back of his
mind. Malcolm X does not live a conservative or docile life. He is determined to live his life to the
fullest and by the end of the book, his only goal is to spread his thoughts and ideas as much as he can
before his time on this Earth is up.
We are first acquainted with finitude on the mere second page of this book. While we as humans like
to believe that we will live long and prosperous lives, Malcolm X seems to understand the true nature
of our existence before he is even able to go to grade school. With constant threats from the KKK and
several violent deaths of African Americans in the community, it was near impossible for him to live
as deluded as several of other did. His father had also accepted the finite features of our existence and
began to risk his life and dedicate himself to civil rights. X realizes that he was likely to follow in his
father s steps by stating It has always been my belief that I, too, will die by violence. I have done all I
can to be prepared (2)

Indeed, employee empowerment is a well known tool for retaining employees, boosting operation
productivity and recovering customer services. Improper use of empowerment can also impact
negatively on such things as employees poor decision making 3
and management s fear of giving up control. However, employee empowerment has more positive
impacts on the front desk operations and this paper will suggest how to overcome those negative
aspects by showing the best practices used in hotel operations. Constraints One of the main constraints
in this study is the limited access to certain research materials that might be relevant to certain aspects
of the importance of empowering employees at front desk operations. All of the research will be based
on interviews with hotel professionals in successful resorts located in Las Vegas and the use of
published literature. Glossary Empowerment Empowerment is an idea which includes many
disciplines and areas of study such as economics, community development, education, psychology,
and studies of social movements and organizations, among others. According to the definition of The
World Bank, empowerment is providing individuals or groups with enough knowledge to allow them
to make educated choices so that the result of those choices leads to responsible decision making.

reader from the opening to the conclusion of the novel, it embraces themes like morality, anarchy,
revenge and betrayal. However, it also examines the impact of darkness and it is this theme that is
highlighted by minor characters throughout the text. For example, Nur, a prostitute who is in love with
main protagonist Said, is introduced in order to inject lightness into the narrative in stark contrast to
the dark and disheartening tales that are conveyed through the more prevalent characters.
Nur s introduction to the novel does not occur until the fifth chapter, by which time the dark tone of
the narrative has already been established. This is significant because her delayed entrance comes
against a backdrop in which every vestige of hope, of human redemption, is notably absent. For
example, Mahfouz deliberately constructs an isolated and desolate landscape that provides an apt
parallel to Said in the previous chapter: ...the dawn shed dewy compassion, giving momentary solace
for the loss of everything, even the two bank notes, and he surrendered to it . This use of metaphor
does not leave room for light against the darkness but Nur s introduction remedies that, offering an
alternative. This is made

A Doll House 3
A main character, Torvald, in the play A Doll House, by Henrik Ibsen could be viewed as a morally
ambiguous character. He displays the character traits of a morally ambiguous person. Torvald s
personal consumption of appearances shows how he treats his wife and home and personal pride.
Torvald s wife Nora is the center of several of the traits that classify him as a morally ambiguous
character. Nora is more like a possession to Torvald than a soul mate or wife. She is like a doll to him,
something that he can control and shape into what he wants. Nora is treated like a child and as if she
can not function a second without him to be there to tell her what to do. Her dependency on him is
extremely important to him because that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this she makes the decision to leave and request him never to talk to her again. Torvald s life was
based upon what he felt was right in society. HE cared so greatly what
the world would think of him rather than the true thought of being a family. He could not
determine what a real life was because he only lived his life upon other expectations. The play s
character Torvald shows moral ambiguity clearly through the life he lives and the true home life
that resulted from his

Student Debt For College Students
As decades pass by, obtaining a college degree seems more necessary to get a decent job after
graduating. Therefore, high school students feel the pressure to get into a good university and to get
the highest degree possible, even when they have no plan on how to pay for it. Financial aid has not
kept up with growing tuition prices, and taking out student loans seems almost impossible to avoid.
According to research, About 40 million Americans hold student loans and about 70% of bachelor s
degree recipients graduate with debt. (Market Watch) The U.S currently has a total of 1.3 trillion
dollars of outstanding debt. There is a ton of controversy on how to solve this issue, but there are
progressive solutions schools and college kids need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Educational shaming is when society looks down on you if you decide to take a route in life that does
not involve college, or does not involve a 4 year degree or higher. It has also come to a point in this
society, if you do not go to college right after high school and do not graduate within 4 years you are
looked down upon by employers. We put a college degree over productive work career. When
employers should start looking to see if you are eligible for a laboring job (and other careers that do
not need schooling) by your learning potential, motivation, integrity, and mental ability instead of a
piece of paper that tells your education and job experience. We are setting up future generations for
disaster if we don t help make a change. We are starting to believe that the American Dream is all
about a white collard job and a college degree. (Ted Talks, Dusty Wunderlich) By 2020, 19 million
more college graduates will enter the workforce but only 7 million of those require a degree. (Ted
Talks) Since every person is different not everyone will be ready for college at 18 and not every
student will have the fast learning ability or money to graduate in 4 years. Changing the way society
thinks is way easier said than done. Students can start taking part of this way of thinking and help
spread awareness by writing letters to congressmen, holding rallies, and by writing and signing

Essay On The Color Of The Physician s Skin
I have seen several occasions online specifically where the nurse or doctor is a person of color and the
patient outright refuses to be seen or touched by them simply because of the color of their skin. In my
opinion, this is a form of anchoring simply because the patient is taking a small amount of
information, the color of the physician s skin without looking at their work experience or
certifications. The specific issue I was referencing pertain to biases regarded the patients being treated
as incompetent because of the color of their skin and a doctor simply began over taking a patient
because the assumption was he knew better than the patients which might be true however, doing so
disrespected their wishes. Schroeder, elaborated on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normally what is the age demographic of people in this profession? Yes, people should be smart
enough to treat every situation as different however, that is not always the case everyone has biases.
Jill Suttie expanded on these ideas directly pertaining to teachers however, they can apply to almost
any situation. (2016) The first step is admitting you have certain biases or ideologizes pertain to
certain groups of people that you simply don t apply to others. The second step is trying to view
someone else s perspective because at the end of the day they have feelings just like you. Prating kind
affirmations is also ideal don t go into any situation assuming the worst when you don t have all the
facts! (Suttie, 2016). Another form of bias that individuals might generally practice is assuming you
already know the answer with seeing all the variables. This tends to happen when an individual
becomes complacent. For example, if the flu is going around and a child presents some of the
symptoms if the physician was experiencing tunnel vision they would assume the patient had the flu
and not something more serious like meningitis. Or most people that I ve come across right off women
who are pregnant with their first child simply because every illness, or ailment warrants a doctor s
visit. So, if you assume a pregnant first time mom is being difficult or hysterical and you write her off
you could be sending someone home who needs help. Arability

America And The Two World Wars
Andrew Iarocci and Jeffrey A. Keshen, A Nation in Conflict: Canada and the Two World Wars
(University of Toronto Press, 2015)
Andrew Iarocci and Jeffrey A. Keshen s A Nation in Conflict: Canada and the Two World Wars, gives
us an overview of Canada s contributions to the two World Wars and compares their work overseas
militarily, and the political and societal changes on the home front. The following will summarize
Iarocci and Keshen s book, and will end with a discussion and reflection on its strengths and
weaknesses.
The first chapter, Politics and Recruitment, outlines Canada s involvement in the two World Wars and
compares the different approaches to recruitment of Prime Minster Robert Laird Borden in the First
World War and that of Prime Minster William Lyon Mackenzie King s approach during the second.
The First World War came as a surprise to many Canadians. Throughout English Canada, Canadians
were enthusiastic for the fight and viewed the war as a way to preserve freedom from German
militarism. The patriotic duty of soldiers would demonstrate loyalty to secure a strong voice for
Canada in shaping imperial affairs. The Dominion of Canada entered the war with a small permanent
military force of about 3,000 soldiers and the war had relatively little impact on the daily lives of
Canadians. (7) By October 1914, the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) had 36,267 soldiers
overseas the largest military force ever to depart Canada. (10) With the war brought new legislation

  • 4. Production of an Artificial Knee Joint Production of an artificial knee joint begins with investment casting, a process that involves little to no shearing. Investment casting produces products that have good surface quality and high spatial accuracy. It is advantageous for parts with more complex shapes or materials that are difficult to form. This method involves seven steps and results in the preliminary shapes of the femoral and tibial parts. 1. Wax Pattern Production Wax patterns function to shape the cavity within the mold. Though it is called a wax pattern, the pattern may also include materials such as wax, stearic acid, plastic and other industrial chemicals [3]. There are two ways to produce a wax pattern. For both, a wax cylinder is first taken from heat preservation equipment and placed on a hydraulic die casting machine to remove any air or geocerite from the wax. In one process, the wax is then poured into the mold and swirled around until the inner surface is covered with an even coating. This is repeated until an appropriate thickness is reached. The second method is to pressure inject the liquid wax into an aluminum mold. The mold is then turned upside down so the liquid wax is removed and the remaining wax layer is left to cool and harden. 2. Wax Pattern Assembly In order to improve productivity, workers usually assemble multiple patterns on a holder made of wax. They are held together with melted wax, producing a pattern tree so that many wax patterns can be made at once. Patterns with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This led people to start thinking outside of the box. Many people started questioning why somethings were the way they were. As a result many philosophers emerged in the pre Socratic times. Many people did not understand the world around them back in those times. Gods were created for various reasons so that they can help explain certain phenomenons. • 7. Evaluation Of Rehabilitation For Patellar Dislocation This paper is a review of rehabilitation for patellar dislocation. Patellar dislocation occurs when the patella slips out of the patellofemoral (trochlear) groove, most often laterally (Cheatham, Kolber, Hanney, 2014; Enix, Sudkamp, Scali, 2015). This can occur from direct trauma such as sudden mechanical forces exerted on the patella (Respizzi, Cavallin, 2014; Duignan McGibney et.al., 2016). The injury can also be the result of indirect trauma such as when the foot is fixed on the ground and biomechanical abnormalities of the lower leg come into effect (Respizzi Cavallin et.al., 2014 et.al., 2014; Duignan McGibney et.al., 2016). Lateral patellar dislocation primarily affects younger active populations (between 10 and 17 years old) and usually occurs due to injury during physical activity (Balcarek, Oberthür, Frosch, Schüttrumpf, Stürmer 2014; Ménétrey, Putman, Gard, 2014; Tsai, Hsu, Hung, Hsu, 2012; Lehman, Beckman, Craig, 1989; Calapodopulos, Nogueira, Eustáquio, Calapodopulos Júnior, Rodrigues, 2016; Petri, 2015; Cheatham et.al., 2014; Enix et.al., 2015). 55% 72% of first time patellar dislocations occur from sports (Tsai et.al., 2012; Petri et.al., 2015). Hughes de Payens was the co founder and Grand Master of the Knights Templar. Like the early history of the Templars, little is known about Payens since sources about his life are certainly lacking. So we are left to wonder where Michael and Salhab has gotten this tantalizing detail. However, as the Enlightenment period dawned on the great thinkers, the Templars were seen more as victims of heresy as there was a strong Gnosticizing trend in eighteenth century thought. This was also evident in the mystical illumination roots of the Enlightenment area in the hermetic traditions of Renaissance Neo Platonism and Cabbalism. Indeed, many of these thinkers, including Albert Pike and Purgstall claimed that the Templars were secretly Johannite Gnostics who also venerated Zoroaster and Manes. They were essentially a secret society totally opposed to the Church but outwardly were completely loyal to the Church and the Pope. Partner writes, Their spiritual independence of the Church was not based on any low or vulgar magical powers of conjuring, but on the possession of a veritable house of knowledge, a Temple of wisdom which was symbolized by the name of their Order (xviii). Then there is the view that the Templars were not at war with Islam but were in fact in league with the Ismaili sect of the Assassins, who were secret philosopher mystagogues who initiated the Templars in the precepts of their House of Wisdom. Purgstall would wonder the same thing, when he wrote: What wonder that those knights confederated with the Assassins and imbued with their nefarious doctrine and, passing time in Syria, affected by the error of the Syrian sects, waging war in the Orient, indulged the same defect conjointly for themselves in all the Oriental ... • 10. Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and takes things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on different circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional illnesses that can be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic therapists are based off of Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as addictions, eating disorders and depression by considering how previous experiences have been taken into your thought process and dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we think and how we act in response to those thoughts in either a negative or positive way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to the inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the person, not the environment, which what we re a main ... This theory simply explains that everyone has the potential to a masked murderer if they don t keep their dark sides tamed (785). Stanley Solomon s exploration theory is a very well known theory in the horror genre. The theory is the reasoning behind why characters in horror movies always act so irrationally and brainless. Why is it that the defenseless girl always puts herself in a dangerous state by exploring? Sometimes it is ironic that the victim is lurking around in a dangerous place because they have yet to be informed that a monster is in their presence (795). Other times though, the victim explores even though they know they are putting themselves in danger (795). As one watches these movies, they typically pity the character. The fact that the viewer sympathizes the victim for acting so absurd tells humans something about themselves. They want to explore as well (795). As audiences watch, they want to cover their eyes in fear, but force themselves to watch the film anyways. Solomon predicts in his theory that humans do this because the ultimate irrationality of this typical moment of horror in the nightmare film represents our own subconscious desire to confront our inevitable dread: to meet death before we really ... Film Adaptations Of Stieg Larsson s Man In both film adaptations of Stieg Larsson s Män Som Hatar Kvinnor (Men Who Hate Women), the 2009 Swedish film directed by Niels Arden Oplev , and the 2011 American version, renamed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , directed by David Fincher, the two principle characters only meet halfway through the film. For a significant portion of the movie, they interact only by spying on each other. As a film that addresses differences between male and female interactions, the presence of a male or female protagonist is important for the viewer s understanding. Though almost equal presences on screen, the perspectives from which the film is told vary between the two adaptations. The notion of perspective is shown clearly in a revenge scene in the beginning of the film. Pecola let white beauty standards deform her life. People believe that having the bluest eyes would change the way people viewed her and her view of others. Whiteness being superior is shown throughout the entire text through implicit messages. The title of the story explains the book basically. Pecola had a strong aspiration for blue eyes. She had a certain insight on having blue eyes that wasn t necessarily correct. Pecola didn t believe she was up to the beauty standards of the society. She honestly believed that the cruel things she is put through on the daily is the effect of how she is seen by others. She has a honest feeling that if she obtains blue eyes people will look at her and treat her differently because she feels like she ll be closer to the beauty standards and being accepted. The thought process of Pecola was that if she had those pretty blue eyes people would not want to do negative things to or in front of her. Of An Hour And Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener Kate Chopin s Story of an Hour and Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener , both demonstrate the theme of isolation and going against the oppression that was around in their time. Kate Chopin s main theme is about how married women have less freedom and are restricted in the 19th century. She portrayed it by talking about the experience in Mrs. Mallard s point of view when, she heard her husband was presumed dead in a train accident. The way Bartleby, the Scrivener was written, through the use of the setting imply that Bartleby is going against something he himself cannot change. Bartleby s action was going against the working world, by refusing to eat and participate in the economy, since Bartleby was not cooperating with anyone and protesting by himself. Compared to Story of an Hour , Bartleby, the Scrivener shows more of the theme of justice because Kate Chopin s story was more focused toward Mrs. Mallard without explaining the circumstance of why she wanted freedom. While Bartleby, the Scrivener showed more detail regarding the setting of Bartleby, which makes it easier to understand that he is rebelling against the system for his belief, even if he cannot change anything by himself. (Homans, 1983, p. 33) While stimulus is defined when a stimulus presents itself and it resembles a previously rewarded activity, that individual is likely to repeat that action again. (Homans, 1950, Chapter 4) Homans defined value as a system of rewards and punishments. (Homans, 1983, p. 32) Deprivation and satiation was defined as the more often a reward has recently been received, the less valuable further rewards become. A central line is inserted under the skin away from the vein, and it comes out from a subcutaneous route. A cuff is placed around the tunneled part of the line securing placement and helping to prevent infection to the insertion site. Central lines are inserted into large veins in the central circulation (Caring, 2015). The catheter is threaded into the internal or external jugular vein; it can also be threaded into the lower third of the vena cava leading to the superior part of the right atrium. When inserted, a chest x ray is done to confirm placement and position of the catheter, and to check for pneumothorax (Central, 2015). A peripheral line is a vein in the arm, hand, or in an infant in the scalp. When the epithelial or mucosal barrier is exposed to pollens, allergens, microbes or pollutants, these can stimulate the underlying antigen presenting cells (APC) which causes an immune response to occur.17 This can cause a cell influx into the airway that is primarily eosinophilic or neutrophilic. It is for this reason that the African leaders established the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, with the purpose of eradicating colonialism in Africa, and harmonize and deepen collaboration efforts of member states to achieve a better life for its people. A number of problems emerged such as the 1975 Angolan civil war and the Somalia invasion of Ethiopia 1978, besides most African economies were on the decline, these issues among others weakened the competence of the OAU. Beginning of 1999 certain leaders began to question why the OAU failed to prevail and resolve the social ills that afflicted Africa (Bujra 2002) Therefore, the OAU was scrapped and the African Union was established on 9th July 2002 with the key objective of upholding peace, security and stability on the African continent. Ever since, the AU has launched military operations to help control clashes in Burundi, Sudan, Somalia and the Comoros. This paper will discuss the Darfur Crisis which militarily escalated in 2003. • 27. Dody Dysmorphic Disorder Body dysmorphic disorder or BDD is a type pf mental illness in which you can t stop thinking about a flaw in your appearance. You intensely obsess over your appearance and body image, often for many hours a day. Your perceived flaw causes you significant distress, and your obsession impacts your ability to function in your daily life. You may seek out numerous cosmetic procedures or excessively exercise to try to fix your perceived flaw, but you re never satisfied. Body dysmorphic disorder is also known as dysmorphophobia, the fear of having a deformity. Although the exact cause of BDD is still unclear, experts believe it is related to problems with serotonin, one of the brain s chemical neurotransmitters. Poor regulation of serotonin also plays a role in obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and other anxiety disorders, as well as depression Some people may be more prone to problems with serotonin balance, including those with family members who have problems with anxiety or depression. This may help explain why some people develop BDD but others don t. Cultural messages can also play a role in BDD by reinforcing somebody s concerns about appearance. Critical messages or unkind teasing about appearance as someone is growing up may also contribute to a person s sensitivity to BDD. But while cultural messages, criticism, and teasing might harm someone s body image, these things alone usually do not result in BDD. People with BDD obsess over their appearance ... Between 200,000 and 270,000 gallons of crude oil leaked out of the hole in the pipeline over a five day period, and became the second worst oil spill in the United States. The worst oil spill was a result of the Exxon Valdez tanker hitting a barrier reef in Alaska s Prince William Sound in 1989. Individuality And Morality In A Clockwork Orange A Clockwork Orange: Individuality, Morality, and Growing Up Anthony Burgess s novel, A Clockwork Orange, presents a struggle between animalistic urges and mechanistic society by way of the motif of a clockwork orange. Many would agree that a clock and an orange share little in common other than the fact that they may both be round. However, the organic nature of an orange combined with the precision and mechanics of a clock curiously imitates the way people respond to everyday influences. Anthony Burgess capitalizes on the differences between these two seemingly unrelated objects to present the connection between morality and conformity within the confines of the novel s narrator, Alex. Throughout the three parts of the novel, it becomes more apparent that every seemingly harmless life can be manipulated by the clockwork of society. Alex is a young boy living in the near future, whose obsession with the brutality of the world around him causes him to act violently. This decision by Hooker was another costly mistake because it conceded the only high ground to the Confederates. After Sickles movement back to Plank Road, the Union line resembled a giant horseshoe around Chancellorsville. At approximately 5:30 a.m., Lee attacked the Union line from all three sides: Stuart, who had taken over for Jackson from the west, Anderson from the southeast, and McLaws from the east. Using their newly acquired ground at Hazel Grove as an artillery platform to support the assault, the Confederates beat back the Union s fierce resistance around Chancellorsville. We are constrained by our abilities, actions, knowledge, and death to live a life that can never reach its full potential. This concept of finitude plays a significant role in Malcolm X s life and autobiography. X becomes aware of this aspect of the human condition at a very early age and it seems that he acts with this idea almost always in the back of his mind. Symbolic Significance Of The Thief And The Dogs The symbolic significance of Nur in The Thief and the Dogs, by Naguib Mahfouz Naguib Mahfouz s The Thief and the Dogs was written in 1961 and is a highly complex novel amongst the author s most celebrated works. Utilising a stream of consciousness style that engages the reader from the opening to the conclusion of the novel, it embraces themes like morality, anarchy, revenge and betrayal. However, it also examines the impact of darkness and it is this theme that is highlighted by minor characters throughout the text. For example, Nur, a prostitute who is in love with main protagonist Said, is introduced in order to inject lightness into the narrative in stark contrast to the dark and disheartening tales that are conveyed through the more prevalent characters. Nur s introduction to the novel does not occur until the fifth chapter, by which time the dark tone of the narrative has already been established. This is significant because her delayed entrance comes against a backdrop in which every vestige of hope, of human redemption, is notably absent. For example, Mahfouz deliberately constructs an isolated and desolate landscape that provides an apt parallel to Said in the previous chapter: ...the dawn shed dewy compassion, giving momentary solace for the loss of everything, even the two bank notes, and he surrendered to it . Nora is treated like a child and as if she can not function a second without him to be there to tell her what to do. Her dependency on him is extremely important to him because that is ... HE cared so greatly what the world would think of him rather than the true thought of being a family. • 45. Student Debt For College Students As decades pass by, obtaining a college degree seems more necessary to get a decent job after graduating. Therefore, high school students feel the pressure to get into a good university and to get the highest degree possible, even when they have no plan on how to pay for it. Financial aid has not kept up with growing tuition prices, and taking out student loans seems almost impossible to avoid. According to research, About 40 million Americans hold student loans and about 70% of bachelor s degree recipients graduate with debt. (Market Watch) The U.S currently has a total of 1.3 trillion dollars of outstanding debt. There is a ton of controversy on how to solve this issue, but there are progressive solutions schools and college kids need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Educational shaming is when society looks down on you if you decide to take a route in life that does not involve college, or does not involve a 4 year degree or higher. It has also come to a point in this society, if you do not go to college right after high school and do not graduate within 4 years you are looked down upon by employers. We put a college degree over productive work career. When employers should start looking to see if you are eligible for a laboring job (and other careers that do not need schooling) by your learning potential, motivation, integrity, and mental ability instead of a piece of paper that tells your education and job experience. We are setting up future generations for disaster if we don t help make a change. We are starting to believe that the American Dream is all about a white collard job and a college degree. (Ted Talks, Dusty Wunderlich) By 2020, 19 million more college graduates will enter the workforce but only 7 million of those require a degree. (Ted Talks) Since every person is different not everyone will be ready for college at 18 and not every student will have the fast learning ability or money to graduate in 4 years. Changing the way society thinks is way easier said than done. Students can start taking part of this way of thinking and help spread awareness by writing letters to congressmen, holding rallies, and by writing and signing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Essay On The Color Of The Physician s Skin I have seen several occasions online specifically where the nurse or doctor is a person of color and the patient outright refuses to be seen or touched by them simply because of the color of their skin. In my opinion, this is a form of anchoring simply because the patient is taking a small amount of information, the color of the physician s skin without looking at their work experience or certifications. The specific issue I was referencing pertain to biases regarded the patients being treated as incompetent because of the color of their skin and a doctor simply began over taking a patient because the assumption was he knew better than the patients which might be true however, doing so disrespected their wishes. Schroeder, elaborated on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Normally what is the age demographic of people in this profession? Yes, people should be smart enough to treat every situation as different however, that is not always the case everyone has biases. Jill Suttie expanded on these ideas directly pertaining to teachers however, they can apply to almost any situation. (2016) The first step is admitting you have certain biases or ideologizes pertain to certain groups of people that you simply don t apply to others. The second step is trying to view someone else s perspective because at the end of the day they have feelings just like you. Prating kind affirmations is also ideal don t go into any situation assuming the worst when you don t have all the facts! (Suttie, 2016). Another form of bias that individuals might generally practice is assuming you already know the answer with seeing all the variables. This tends to happen when an individual becomes complacent. For example, if the flu is going around and a child presents some of the symptoms if the physician was experiencing tunnel vision they would assume the patient had the flu and not something more serious like meningitis. Or most people that I ve come across right off women who are pregnant with their first child simply because every illness, or ailment warrants a doctor s visit. So, if you assume a pregnant first time mom is being difficult or hysterical and you write her off you could be sending someone home who needs help. Arability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. America And The Two World Wars Andrew Iarocci and Jeffrey A. Keshen, A Nation in Conflict: Canada and the Two World Wars (University of Toronto Press, 2015) Andrew Iarocci and Jeffrey A. Keshen s A Nation in Conflict: Canada and the Two World Wars, gives us an overview of Canada s contributions to the two World Wars and compares their work overseas militarily, and the political and societal changes on the home front. The following will summarize Iarocci and Keshen s book, and will end with a discussion and reflection on its strengths and weaknesses. The first chapter, Politics and Recruitment, outlines Canada s involvement in the two World Wars and compares the different approaches to recruitment of Prime Minster Robert Laird Borden in the First World War and that of Prime Minster William Lyon Mackenzie King s approach during the second. The First World War came as a surprise to many Canadians. Throughout English Canada, Canadians were enthusiastic for the fight and viewed the war as a way to preserve freedom from German militarism. The patriotic duty of soldiers would demonstrate loyalty to secure a strong voice for Canada in shaping imperial affairs. The Dominion of Canada entered the war with a small permanent military force of about 3,000 soldiers and the war had relatively little impact on the daily lives of Canadians. (7) By October 1914, the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) had 36,267 soldiers overseas the largest military force ever to depart Canada. (10) With the war brought new legislation ...
