America´s Hostile Response to the Vietnam War and...
How much did America s generally hostile response to the Vietnam War contribute to the high number
of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder victims? Plan of Investigation In this investigation, the personal side
of the soldiers who fought in the Vietnam war will be examined particularly the symptoms of Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that were most common in veterans, and the different experiences
in the war or after returning home that could have caused them. The types of warfare, deaths, and
differences from methods used in the Vietnam War will be discussed. Technological advancements
and mindsets of the different times of the wars will be taken into account. The definition of PTSD and
descriptions of different general causes will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the war, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was not something commonly understood. An
estimation of ...about 85,000 of the more than 250,000 Vietnam veterans [were] discharged under
other than honorable conditions have PTSD. There were lawsuits for veterans treated unfairly from the
war due to this. The technological advancements, especially aviation advancements, in the Vietnam
War have changed warfare as a whole. Weapons became more complex; tactics became more
gruesome, bombing became much more frequent and utilizing larger radiuses. Attack and medical
helicopters came into play, environmental killers, and more medical advancements. Evaluation of
Sources Wounds of War: the Psychological Aftermath of Combat in Vietnam by Herbert Hendin and
Ann Pollinger Haas was published in 1984, roughly a decade after the end of the Vietnam War. Its
purpose is to inform the public about the trauma, treatment, complications, and other perspectives that
the Vietnam War veterans went through. Herbert Hendin is a psychiatrist and Ann Haas is a
sociologist. Describing that both the combat experiences and the post war treatment was cruel, Hendin
and Haas came to the conclusion that overall, it was the post war treatment to the veterans of Vietnam
was the biggest cause of the number of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder victims. A value of the book is
that Hendin is a psychologist who has studied suicide and depression

Economic Impacts of Beijing Olympic Essay
Economic Impacts of Beijing Olympic
Bird Nest and Water Cube:
We can all recall the opening of Beijing Olympic in Bird Nest where the gorgeous fireworks and
fantastic shows were shown. As well as the Water Cube, an exquisite designed water stadium, which
all the water competitions were hosted. After the 2008 Beijing Olympic, those multibillions
infrastructures were put into use only a few times and for most of the time, they were empty. Some
people believe the construction of those infrastructures was a one time deal and will never meet the
return. Some people believe that there is a bigger picture in building the Bird Nest and Water Cube
and the return for the Beijing Olympic is a lot more time what China put in for the 2008 Olympic ...

Positive Economic Impacts: After the Beijing Olympic game in 2008, many people raise the questions
of whether spending $41 billion in hosting the game bring benefits to China s economic or not.
According to the nature of economic, the economic impacts of the Olympic game are hard to measure
and has became a major debating topic for many economic scholars. However, one thing that we are
sure off is that the Olympic game did tie on to many economic measures such as, employment rate,
economic growth rate, inflation rate and tourism growth rate. Also, as we know from the economic
standpoint, fiscal and monetary policies are inevitable measures in hosting mega event like the Beijing
Olympic game.
A pre economic study by two Chinese economists Zhang Yaxiong and Zhao Kun addressed that the
Olympic game has brought many Olympic related investments and consumptions to Beijing,
surrounding cities and the entire country. According to their models, the estimated growth rate of
Beijing prior the Olympic game from 2002 to 2007 has increased 2.02%, the surrounding areas growth
rate raise 0.23% and overall an 0.09% increase for the entire country. We can tell from these numbers
that the impacts of pre Beijing Olympic game are not significant in the measure of positive impacts for
the China s economic over the duration of 5 years.
Lets take a look at the economic impact of Beijing Olympic game after the event. According to the
article of Olympics Help Fuel Beijing s economics

The Industrial Revolution and Imperialism Essay
The concept of imperialism is one that has pervaded nearly every major society or empire throughout
human history. It seems to be a natural consequence of societies growing in size, power, and
knowledge. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries vast changes occurred in Western Europe (and
soon spread elsewhere) that spurred a new round of imperialism the likes of which had not been seen
before. The changes were the industrial revolution that was taking place. Countries were rapidly
advancing to industrial societies producing much greater quantities of goods at much lower costs. The
goods produced ranged everywhere from cotton textiles to military machinery, all of which would
play important roles in rounds of imperialistic expansion that ... Show more content on

An example of this situation occurred involving Britain and India where British merchants exported
great quantities of cotton to England where it would be refined and made into end products for export.
This same situation arose with nearly every other natural resource one could imagine. The world is
abundant with natural resources all from different regions, and European nations saw it as their
opportunity for the taking. Another very important result of the industrial revolution was the
advancement of European weaponry. It was mentioned in a previous module for this course how
something of an arms race began in Western Europe as the societies were separating into different
empires and nations. That would continue with European weapons advancing far beyond what any
other societies could match, there is even the example of a small number of British soldiers defeating
thousands of African soldiers in a matter of hours due to the invention of the maxim gun. The
evolution of European weaponry played several important roles in relation to imperialism. European
weaponry first and foremost made it possible for those nations to dominate indigenous people to
submit to their will in terms of trade. It even opened up new regions such as Japan that had previously
only allowed very minor outside trade. With steamboats that could navigate upstream British soldiers
were able to traverse up the Yangtze River and

Lucid Dreaming Definition
In the article, The Lucid Dreaming Frequency and Alarm Snooze Button, Lucid Dreaming was first
introduced by Van Eeden. Lucid Dreaming refers to the term in which a person asleep is aware that
they are sleeping. Edeen figured out that approximately 50% of the general population have had at
least one experience of having a lucid dream, while 20% of the general population experience lucid
dreams on a daily basis. Eeden also found that lucid dreams occur during the stage of sleep rapid eye
movement (REM). These stages suggest that there is a state of arousal. During REM sleep the
dorsolateral prefrontal cortex usually deactivates, but the occurrence of lucid dreams allows the cortex
to be active, which presents the awareness of the dreams. Research ... Show more content on

The findings helped show that lucid dreams have a positive correlation with the pushing snooze on the
alarm clock. The results indicate that there is a significant relationship that is a positive correlation of
lucid dreaming and the alarm clock present in the study. Waking up in the middle of the night to push
the snooze button makes the occurrence of lucid dreams higher. The frequency use of the snooze
button has an association with the lucid dream frequency. In future and further studies they should
determine whether experimentally or/and longitudinally the alarm clock snooze button can induce the
lucid dreams during the alarm snooze buttom periods or at other times during the REM sleep. These
present studies have found the brain correlates of the lucid dreams in the alarm clock snooze period
may have not only occurred during the stages of REM sleep, but also include wake like characteristics
of electroencephalogram. One may conclude that even though this study was the most successful to

Violent Screen Time On Children
The Impact of Violent Screen Time on Children A ten year old boy stares at a television screen
mashing buttons on a PlayStation controller as the sound of gunshots, bombs, and shouts fill his
bedroom. While his parents say, It s keeping him out of trouble, they don t see the emotional problems
violent video games are causing their son. In 2014, TIME Magazine reported that, Approximately
90% of children in the U.S. play video games, and more than 90% of those games involve mature
content that often includes violence (Park). Even though many parents and caregivers don t see the
harm in the violence shown in video games, television, and the internet, the effects of this exposure on
children today is undeniable. Because children are being exposed to the harmful effects of violent
screen time, they are more aggressive, more likely to engage in violent behavior, and desensitized to
violence in general. When children play a lot of video games with adult content or watch television
shows that include violent scenes, research has shown that they are more aggressive toward their
classmates, friends, siblings, teachers, and even their own parents. They think that being mean and
vicious, like they see on television and video games, is how they can act in real life. This aggressive
behavior can result in bullying, physical and verbal. A recent study stated that, 60 percent of middle

Treatment of Consolidated Environmental Accounting
The business activities of companies and other organizations in the modern socio economic system
have expanded in scale, diversified, and become globalized to a degree not experienced previously. A
great number of companies have been established corresponding to each purpose, and group
management is practiced.
In a group management system, the independent decision making ability of group companies is
limited. At the same time, the primary objective becomes management of the group, limiting the
environmental impact of the holding company itself, which essentially consigns functions such as
production, sales, and distribution. In such cases it becomes difficult to perceive the actual ... Show

Essay On The Minister s Black Veil
The Minister s Black veil: A Hidden Sin or Sin of A Spiritual Egotism In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The
Minister s Black Veil there are many secrets, many dark areas, both literal and metaphorical. An
intensely private man who allowed few to know him well, Nathaniel Hawthorne was fascinated by the
dark secrets of human nature. One of the first American writers to explore his characters hidden
motivations, Hawthorne broke new ground in American literature with his morally complex
characters. He explored such themes as sin, hypocrisy, and guilt. This essay is discussed about a
pleasant scene in Milford, a small Puritan town where men, women, and children mill about enjoying
the prospect of another Sunday. This peace is interrupted by the ... Show more content on

The veil can be compared to man s way of trying to hide the hideous acts of a sin by trying to cover it
up with a fig leaf as in the case of Adam and Eva. The townspeople assume that Hooper has
committed a specific crime, and because their Puritan community recognizes the danger of sin, they re
horrified that Hooper seems to be showing his sin to the public. Puritans believe that sin must be
defeated at all costs, it s also possible that the townspeople of Milford do understand what Hooper s
veil means. It reminds them of their own secret sins. the story seems to suggest that it s impossible to
know to a certainty if another person is innocent or guilty of a specific crime. This might suggest that
people shouldn t obsess over others sins, but respect others and allow them to work through their own
guilt. By wearing the veil, Hooper brings misery to himself, but also to Elizabeth, his fiancée, and the
townspeople, who are newly frightened by his

Analysis Of Hillbilly Elegy By Jd Vance
Persistence, resilience, and grit three traits that I believe are often the most sought after by
professionals all over the world. Developing these three skills can be a difficult process, however
when all three are present in a person, that person can become a valuable asset for any company or
business. In JD Vance s memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, we see how he develops these important traits
throughout his life. Through his struggles and victories, we the reader learn that no matter the situation
you are placed in, you can succeed if you develop 3 important skills those being persistence,
resilience, and grit. Through my life experiences thus far, I have found that, out of these three traits, I

Once I discovered this method, I felt far more confident taking tests, and overall improved my average
test grades for that class. Being resilient is a skill I believe applies well to me, however is my grit. As I
stated, I am typically quick to find a solution to many issues I encounter in my life. I figure out what is
wrong and quickly try to fix this issue. However, there is always a constant fear that I won t be able to
figure out what is wrong when searching for a solution. If the problem isn t quickly resolved with my
method, I begin to overthink what may be wrong, and often that leads me down the wrong path.
Unfortunately, this happens to me more often than it should. When it takes me a long time to figure
out a solution, I begin to get far to stressed and anxious, leading to me getting distracted from what the
actual issue is, creating a domino effect that leads me further and further away from the explanation.
Before I know it, I have let another slip up happen, whether it be in class or in life in general, and then
I have to juggle two issues at the same time. Grit is not an easy attribute to acquire, and is especially
hard for me to develop. Sure, my method of problem solving works most of the time, but when it fails
and I cannot figure out what is wrong, I have a very difficult time bouncing back. When it

The Gay Liberation Movement Of Manhattan, New York City
On June 28, 1969, the Gay Liberation Movement was sparked due to the Stonewall Riot in Manhattan,
New York City, (History.com Staff). The Stonewall was a gay club located in New York City. It was
often regulated and harassed by police officers but one day the LGBT decided to stand up for
themselves and fight back. Although the police were legally justified in raiding the club, which was
serving liquor without a license among other violations, New York s gay community had grown weary
of the police department targeting gay clubs, a majority of which had already been closed. The crowd
on the street watched quietly as Stonewall s employees were arrested, but when three drag queens and
a lesbian were forced into the paddy wagon, the crowd began throwing bottles at the police. The
officers were forced to take shelter inside the establishment, and two policemen were slightly injured
before reinforcements arrived to disperse the mob. The protest, however, spilled over into the
neighboring streets, and order was not restored until the deployment of New York s riot police. The
raid on the Stonewall Inn lead to many riots and created an uproar from the LGBT community,
(Teal). The Stonewall Riot was followed by several days of demonstrations in New York and was the
impetus for the formation of the Gay Liberation Front as well as other gay, lesbian, and bisexual civil
rights organizations. It is also regarded by many as history s first major protest on behalf of equal

Lust of Power Depicted in William Shakespeare´s Macbeth Essay
Murder, ghosts, and floating daggers are the usual attractions for most that read William Shakespeare s
Macbeth, and yet there is an important theme that some might overlook. Written in the early 17th
century, Macbeth is believed to be based upon historical events listed in Raphael Holinshed s
Chronicles of Scotland and other current events of the time. Shakespeare constructs the memorable
world of Macbeth with a mysterious and sinister atmosphere, incorporating diabolical elements into
this world with the appearance of Hecate, witches, prophecies and ghostly apparitions. Throughout his

A little water clears us of this deed.
How easy is it, then! Your constancy

However this initial step of using violent means to gain power makes it all the easier to use the same
violent means to maintain power.
From gaining to maintaining their power, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth continually seek out darkness to
aid them in their evil endeavors. Once king, Macbeth allows himself to be utterly enveloped by this
darkness and once consumed, he is prepared to eliminate any who would intercept his newly obtained
power and thus, to squash any hope of redemption. Malcolm describes this by saying, But Macbeth is.

Yet grace must still look so. (4.3)

two have been totally contorted through their efforts to maintain their stolen power. Lady Macbeth

The case study Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand presents a fictional dilemma, based on a real

Bordeaux region of France. De Vallois is a family owned and run business; part owners are Gaspard
de Sauveterre a 75 year old majority owner, and equal partial owners: Francois de Sauveterre Gaspard
s son and the chateau s CEO , and Claire de Valhubert Garspard s granddaughter. De Vallois had fallen

The problem that this proposal introduces, according to her uncle Francois, is that it would add too
many unnecessary and uncontrollable risks to the chateau. Such risks include: the need to purchase
grapes to make the wine, raising concerns and possibly harming relationships with the negociants,
investing in a distribution channel, having to take care of the marketing, insurance, and all other
aspects that the negociants already perform for them, and most importantly, it may compromise their
Grand Vin and Puine wines as consumers and vendors perceptions may negatively change toward the
quality and reputation of de Vallois. Going through some of the details within the case, I feel that the
company would benefit from following Claire s general proposal, to create a lower priced brand and
enter a new market. My recommendation is that Chateau de Vallois at least invest time and effort in
researching the market and truly investigating the opportunity for growth. This benefit would be
present so long as de Vallois conducts a thorough market research before entering the affordable
luxury market to gain an understanding of the consumers needs and wants, the demand that is present
in the market for those young wine enthusiasts, and to be able to match de Vallois strengths with these
needs. They would also need to identify where they would want the new label to be positioned,

Technology is basically an application of science, which is used for the advancements for mankind
and beyond, though it has made our lives more effortless and comfortable, nevertheless
simultaneously it has made us alienated from our loved ones and our surroundings.
Through technology we are all connected, yet find ourselves disconnected. Nowadays people are so
carried away by the online social networking sites as well as digital gadgets, they are always fronting
their smartphone s screens, and preferring texting or chatting over a real life conversation,

Mike Mcghee s Suicide In Texas
While cycling along a farm to market road in southeastern Texas Monday, Mike McGhee was struck
by a vehicle, breaking his shoulder, mangling his bike and cracking his guitar. Actually I m in pretty
good shape for the shape I m in. I m extremely lucky, McGhee joked during a phone interview from
his hotel in Navasota, Texas where he will spend a few days recovering. I ve got a broken shoulder but
it s not really that bad it doesn t require surgery. McGhee said he had minor bruises and scrapes and
was kind of sore but intends to continue his journey around the perimeter of the United States that he
started on New Years Day. McGhee had traveled to South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and
Louisiana before entering Texas a few days ago. Monday around lunchtime he was hit by a passing car
while travelling through Sam Houston State Forest in Navasota, Texas just north of Houston. He said
he has no recollection of being hit but the men who struck him carried him to the nearest hospital. ...

My Culture Of Trinidad
The culture of Trinidad is very different from my home culture of Findlay, Ohio. However, I did
observe a few similarities including the language. Although you may not be able to tell at first, the
native language in Trinidad is english. The people can be hard to understand because they talk really
fast with a strong dialect. On the other hand, I could go on and on about the differences of the culture
of Trinidad from my own. For instance, the locals are very aggressive drivers who only use road signs
as a suggestion. In Trinidad, cutting off other people, driving in and out of traffic, and occasionally
stopping at stop signs and red lights is completely normal. Their driving is very aggressive, yet every
driver that I rode with was very calm. They didn t have the typical road rage like we do in America.
There is always a lot of traffic in Trinidad, especially in the morning and in the late afternoons. The
reason for this traffic is due to the amount of people that live on the island Trinidad is populated with
about 1.2 million people. The island can fit into Ohio over 22 and a half times. At night, the island is
covered in lights. At first, it looked like a big city with lights everywhere, but it turned out that it was a
bunch of houses. There are numerous houses everywhere to house the population that I was amazed
by the amount of light on the island. My culture back home could greatly benefit from the laid back
lifestyle of Trinidad. In America, we

Symptoms And Treatment Of Infections
Since eyes are so complex in their make, we should expect complications to appear throughout our
lives. There are many different problems that occur with our eyes including bacterial and viral
infections to more serious problems such as hemianopsia. Many diseases are treatable while there are
a few that we are only able to slow down the process. One of the most common eye problem is called
conjunctivitis, more commonly known as pink eye. It is an inflammation and reddening of the
conjunctiva. It s more of a viral infection but can also be caused from bacterial infections, airborne
allergens, chemicals, or physical irritants, such as contact lens. While the previous two are not
contagious, there is one kind that is and it s called trachoma, caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. The
infection results in inflammation joined by a gray yellow granules. It mostly develops into neonatal
blindness in developing countries. Blindness occurs when the inflammatory process develops scarring
and thickening of the conjunctiva. A head trauma often had by soccer players or high divers is called a
detached retina. This is when the inner neural and outer pigmented layers of the retina separate.
Nearsighted individuals have a higher chance of having this problem because their retina is thinner or
stretched more than those who have a normal eye. Detached retinas can result in deprivations of
nutrition s for cells in the inner neural layer because it s pulled away from the vascularized choroid

The Death Of Puerto Rican Immigrants
In 2009 after the retirement David Souter from the Supreme Court president Obama appointed Sonia
Sotomayor as the replacement judge. The judge is the daughter of Puerto Rican immigrants...She is a
first Generation Americans. According to multiple multiple American news outlets such as CNN, Fox
News, Msnbc, etc. To these news outlets this was the info that was groundbreaking the daughter of
immigrants was both groundbreaking to the media as well as inspiring. The true definition of what the
American dream stands for.The media thought the info was important enough that they covered this
story on the top of the newshour , and relayed this information to people of the the US as a matter of
fact. Yet this claim was false and the truth being that her parents aren t immigrants didn t it wasn t

according to US law established 1917 called Jones Shafroth Act people born in Puerto Rico are US
citizen as well as a person from any other state. So this doesn t make her parents immigrants as
multiple news outlets say. So all her parent s did was move they didn t imigrate to a new country they
like a lot of Americans moved to a different place. Through this spread of false information the pride

Genes And Functions Of Proteins
Genes is something every living organism has. Genes are found in the DNA, which is the center for
information that gives instructions for what type of protein the cell is suppose to produce, it s lifespan,
maturity, and function. The gene is a subunit of DNA. It holds the instructions for what the proteins
should be producing. Proteins are molecules that properly instruct the cells structure, function, and
regulations of the body s tissues and organs. Amino acids are what proteins are made of. They are
connected to one another in long chains. There are a variety of different types of amino acids that can
be put together to make a protein. Each different sequence of amino acids tells the proteins structure
and function. Antibodies, enzymes, messengers, structural components, and transport or storage
proteins are different examples of protein function. ( How Do Genes Direct the Production of
Proteins? , April 2015) Majority of genes hold information that is essential to produce functional
proteins. From a gene to a protein the transformation is rigorous and the mechanisms happen in every
single cell. There are two steps for the process of making a DNA gene to a protein which are
transcription and translation. In the process of transcription, the information in a genes DNA being
made into RNA (ribonucleic acid) in the cells nucleus. The kind of RNA that holds information for
making a protein is a mRNA which is thw messenger RNA. It transports information to nucleus into

The Great Gatsby A Great Person Essay
For someone to be truly great they need to make sacrifices to become successful. Anyone can be great
at something, but to be great at everything is a much more difficult feat to accomplish. The Great
Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a famous novel taking place in the flapper days. J. Gatsby, a
main character, is in love with a wealthy girl named Daisy. No matter how great Gatsby becomes he is
unable to fulfill his dream of being with Daisy. However, because Gatsby couldn t be with Daisy, he
made himself become as great as a person can become. Gatsby turned himself into a gentleman, took
himself from dirt poor to one of the richest men at the time, and he did it all with his motivation. Some
suggest that Gatsby was not a great person because he was involved in illegal practices such as
bootlegging. But in fact, bootlegging made him a great person because he was able to use the money
that he made for good causes and he was also a fair person. He was extremely intelligent and
understood how to be of help to others through his illegal activities. Greatness can often be seen by
how wealthy one is; Gatsby was one of the most wealthy men of the time. Gatsby s mansion was
described by having, a tower one one side, spanking new under a thin beard of raw ivy, and a marble
swimming pool, and more than forty acres of lawn and garden. (5). ... Show more content on

as wonderful as Gatsby s where one can feel happier by just looking at him. Gatsby had such polite
manners that he excused himself with a small bow that included each of us in turn. (48). He was

Characteristics And Restrictions Of Valued Activities...
This study evaluated napping characteristics and restrictions in valued activities participation among
community dwelling older adults. In unadjusted models, we found an association between both
intentional and unintentional napping and increased odds of restrictions in at least one valued activity,
in comparison to rarely or never napping. While this association held after adjustment for
demographic and health characteristics, there was no association between napping intention and
restrictions in valued activities after further adjustment for depressive and anxiety symptoms when
compared to rarely or never nappers. Among nappers, average nap duration and frequent napping were
associated with restrictions in at least one valued activity, while napping intention was not. Moreover,
when comparing individual activities among nappers, the strongest association was between napping
characteristics (i.e. frequency, nap duration) and restrictions in going out for enjoyment followed by
visiting with friends and family. Altogether, these results indicate an independent association between
frequent, longer naps and restrictions in daytime functioning among community dwelling older adults,
especially among those who nap. Napping may be sign of daytime sleepiness which may lead to
restrictions in valued activities. Our findings are similar to those of studies on excessive daytime
sleepiness (EDS) that have utilized self reported napping as a marker for EDS. One community based

Comparing Little Red Riding Hood Folktales Essay
Comparing Little Red Riding Hood folktales is a multi tasks operation, which includes many
elaborations on the many aspects of the story. Setting, plot, character origin, and motif are the few I
chose to elaborate solely on. Although the versions vary, they all have the motif trickery, the
characters all include some sort of villain with a heroin, the plot concludes all in the final destruction
or cease of the villain to be, and, the setting and origins of the versions vary the most to where they are
not comparable but only contrastable, if one can say that origins and settings are contrastable.

little maiden quot; (Galdone 1) who never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The motif of the story is the wolf s trickery. The origins and culture are the simply the basics.
Lon Po Po version by Ed Young characters includes a mother, three daughters, a wolf and, only
introductions of Grandmother. This version differs greatly by the fact that Grandmother is not sick like
the original, it s Grandmother s birthday and quot;the good mother set off to see her, leaving the three
children at home quot; (Young 2). Unlike the original, too, this is taking place on a dark night. The
wolf uses trickery but the eldest girl is very clever which then the wolf eventually gets mislead. They
mislead the wolf, quot;climbed up the tall tree quot; (Young 16) in retreats of the gingko nuts. The
girls eventually kill the wolf by dropping him in the basket they were pulling up by rope, which was
intentional. The origins and culture are significantly Chinese. The motif is the trickery yet again only
in a different manner.
Petite Rouge Riding Hood version by Mike Artell includes characters that are animals. What would be
humans in the original Little Red Riding Hood, are ducks in this version, with a mother, daughter,
grandmother, and the villain, instead of the evil wolf, is now a gator. The girl, Petite Rouge Riding
Hood, has a companion cat. This version takes places near and on the swamp. The condiments needed
to take to the grandmother to help with her flu are gumbo and boudin. The grandmother is not eaten in

Essay about Kmart Corporate Strategy
Historical Background
Kmart started off as a discount retailer successfully pioneering the same concept as that of F. W.
Woolworth. As stores began to grow and diversify, Kmart stepped in and took the lead role in offering
a one stop shopping center that fulfilled everyone s needs. As new niches began to emerge offering
larger, more specialized stores, Kmart hit a major hurdle. The successful management strategies it had
developed early on were now outdated and in major need of being renovated to coincide with
changing market place and customer values. As Kmart attempted to revolutionize its image and
infrastructure, stores such as Target and Wal Mart took over as the leaders in the discount retailer
arena. As Kmart s image began to sink ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through the Internet will continue to shape the market.
Power of Suppliers Low Steady • The depth of the product line and buying power created by the
potential volume makes the threat of suppliers a relative non issue.
Buyers High Increasing • Buyers have many more options for low price merchandise resources
especially with the Inter net.
• Buyers are increasingly price sensitive and value conscious and are more likely to make purchasing
decisions based upon perceived pricevalue.
• Location, selection, and convenience are increasingly important competitive factors.
Substitutes High Increasing • Substitutes for the discount store are many and include established
stores and the Internet.
• Switching costs are very low.
Rivalry High Increasing • Wal Mart, Sam s Club, Cost Co, Target, Amazon.com, and etc are all
targeting the same consumers and continually adding value andor discounting prices.
• Kmart will need to re establish themselves as the low cost leader in order to reacquire and add to
their customer base.
The level of threat to the industry is relatively high with competition from the Internet changing the
face of merchandising the most. Big names like Wal Mart and

The Development Of Waste Management Facilities
Third to First World Problems As a country develops the infrastructure for the country, must be
established or develop at a rate fast enough to compensate for the countries growth. If the basic
service infrastructure does not develop at a fast enough rate or is not established properly, people that
are in poorer communities or of a lower class are over looked or mistreated in the way the service is
constructed around them. One of the most visible ways this can be seen is the development of waste
management facilities. Communities whose members are at an economical disadvantage tend to be
where industrial and waste management facilities are created. This is a phenomenon known as Not In
My Back Yard. This phenomenon is seen all over the world, one country that has had to deal with the
establishment of an infrastructure in recent years is Brazil. As Brazil has grown the infrastructure for
the country had a need to grow with it. In 2005 Brazil hit a turning point, President Luiz Inacio Lula
Da Silva and his administration, made waste management one of their top priorities. As Brazil s
population, economics, and urbanized areas grew, so did the amount of waste that they produced. The
facilities that were in place in 2005 were subpar and over whelmed in the more urbanized parts of
Brazil. In some urban locations the strain was so great that the facilities were falling apart. Over the
next several pages many topics will discussed that involve many facets of waste

Out of state college tuition is immensely more expensive than in state tuition. Besides where you go, it
depends on your intended career. If you decide to be a doctor, your schooling will cost much more
than that of a police officer. Doctors will be in college for a much longer period than most other
majors, and this drives up the amount they have to spend to get that education. So, the cost of college
is totally dependent on where you go to school and what career you are pursuing.
For the sake of this paper, I will use my own career path as an example. I am going to become a
therapist. To do so, I have to pursue a Bachelor s of the Science of Psychology and then my Masters of

U-Boat Tactics in World War II
In September of 2012, Germany s last surviving U Boat captain who helped sink dozens of U.S. and
British ships has been honoured by the modern military in his homeland seven decades after he was
twice decorated by Hitler for bravery. It may seem grim to honor a person who referred to American
shooting season as his hobby during the war, but it is important to recognize the contributions of U
Boat commanders like Reinhard Hardegen. German submarines had been an engineering vision since
1465, and preliminary German submarines were being manufactured as early as 1850 with Sebastian
Wilhelm Valentin Bauer s Brandtaucher design. The Brandtaucher was much improved upon during
the Industrial Age, which represented the peak of Kaiserdom in Germany. With its financial coffers
relatively full, the Kaiser was able to fund designs such as those by Vogel in 1870 and Howaldt in
1891. However, Gustav Zede designed the Forelle (named after the much beloved German trout fish)
and it was the first truly successful German submarine and was launched in 1903. From these early
submarines evolved one of the world s most evocative killing machines, the U Boats. Leading up to
the development of the U Boat were a series of military escalations, culminating in the start of the
Great War. Throughout modern German history, military technologies like the U Boat have been
integral to strategic planning. Even when decisions regarding U Boat development and deployment
seemed senseless, as it

Why Do People Have Not Involvement With Wildlife
I believe that humans should have no involvement with wildlife. People affect the wildlife in bad
ways. Humans need to keep a closer eye on the animals if they decide to put them in a zoo. We need to
make sure that the animals that are there aren t getting bored or going crazy. People have died because
of this. Humans also shouldn t hunt animals for things that they have, such as an elephant s tusks.
Here are some reasons why we should have no involvement with wildlife.
We need to keep a closer eye on zoo animals. We take animals out of their natural habitat and put them
in smaller enclosements. Because they are used to being in big, open fields, they may get a little bored
or resort back to their natural instincts. Animals such as tigers

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory On Child Development
Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory on Child Development Erik Erikson, a well known developmental
theorist, developed his theory about stages of human development from birth to death by using Freud s
work as a starting point. According to Erikson, personality develops in a series of stages. Erikson
found out that children experience conflicts which affect their development. He described the internal
conflict which children go through in developmental stages using the term crisis and are based on
either developing a psychological quality, or failing to develop that quality (Bee Boyd 2003). During
this period of development, chances of developing a psychological quality or failing to develop that
quality are equal. He believes that the personal identity and future development of a person are
determined by the way he or she resolves the series of conflicts they go through. Concept of Erik
Erikson s Theory According to Erikson s theory, children will experience five basic conflicts which
will define their growth and future personality. The first stage of Erikson s Psychosocial Stages is that
of a conflict between Trust and Mistrust. It takes place in the period between when a child is born to a
time when he or she starts walking and involves Social and emotional development (Etaugh Rathus
1995). The balance between trust and mistrust depends on how the child is treated by the caregiver. If
the child s needs are met by the caregiver, he or she will develop a trust towards

Stereotypes At A Department Store
If you look at a department store, it is broken up into different sections based on age and gender. Most
department stores are divided into women s, men s, boys, girls, juniors, toddlers, infants, etc. Within
each specific section, there is a particular vocabulary used in reference to certain articles of clothing,
and gender plays a huge part in that. For example, Certain words may appear in the women s clothing
section that would never appear in the men s section and vise versa. In America, the words skirt or
dress will never appear in the men s section of a department store. That is because society only
recognizes skirts and dresses as a female clothing item. This is probably the easiest concept to
understand when connecting language

Pavers Essay
If we say pavers , and you think of bricks, you are in for a surprise. Pavers are a huge part of our
hardscapes, and there are enough different types to warrant a whole page.
NATURAL STONE PAVERS: These may be limestone, flagstone, or shale. For more exquisite tastes,
consider marble, travertine, or granite.
CULTURED STONE PAVERS: If you desire the look of expensive stone but would rather avoid the
price tag, or simply don t want to have the weight of the real stone to deal with, consider using
cultured pavers. These manufactured replicas are just as durable, lighter, and less expensive.
Choices then break into the following groupings. Some categories consist of natural and cultured
options, while others, such as the permeable varieties, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While some of these are in overlapping categories, such as grass pavers or interlocking concrete, that
isn t necessarily true for all of them.
INTERLOCKING CONCRETE PAVERS: This style is another permeable paver, and they lock
together for a good, tight fit. These make beautiful patios, walkways, and driveways. Some are
standard shaped, but others are special shapes which interlock in beautiful patterns. The standout,
defining feature of these pavers is that they give a solid appearance. The materials, however, allow
water to seep through. This advantage is not found with all types of pavers, and sometimes this is the
reason to opt for this type of paver.
BRICK PAVERS: These kiln fired blocks are one of the most common types of building materials,
and there are millions of homes around the country with bricks in the patio or walkway. They are
durable.
GRASS PAVERS: These pavers are an amazing technological feat. The purpose of these pavers is to
manage the rainwater, and allow it to move back into the ground while keeping the ground stable and
solid. They are beautiful as well, and can almost be an art form of their own. The geometric shapes
can be complex, or quite simple, but all are a beautiful way to enhance your grounds while allowing a
green space. These are wonderful for people who may have smaller yards. If you have challenges with
standing water or run off, these may be a great option. Consider putting

As well as the Water Cube, an exquisite designed water stadium, which all the water competitions were hosted. After the 2008 Beijing Olympic, those multibillions infrastructures were put into use only a few times and for most of the time, they were empty. • 5. The Industrial Revolution and Imperialism Essay The concept of imperialism is one that has pervaded nearly every major society or empire throughout human history. It seems to be a natural consequence of societies growing in size, power, and knowledge. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries vast changes occurred in Western Europe (and soon spread elsewhere) that spurred a new round of imperialism the likes of which had not been seen before. The changes were the industrial revolution that was taking place. Countries were rapidly advancing to industrial societies producing much greater quantities of goods at much lower costs. The goods produced ranged everywhere from cotton textiles to military machinery, all of which would play important roles in rounds of imperialistic expansion that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this situation occurred involving Britain and India where British merchants exported great quantities of cotton to England where it would be refined and made into end products for export. This same situation arose with nearly every other natural resource one could imagine. The world is abundant with natural resources all from different regions, and European nations saw it as their opportunity for the taking. Another very important result of the industrial revolution was the advancement of European weaponry. It was mentioned in a previous module for this course how something of an arms race began in Western Europe as the societies were separating into different empires and nations. That would continue with European weapons advancing far beyond what any other societies could match, there is even the example of a small number of British soldiers defeating thousands of African soldiers in a matter of hours due to the invention of the maxim gun. The evolution of European weaponry played several important roles in relation to imperialism. European weaponry first and foremost made it possible for those nations to dominate indigenous people to submit to their will in terms of trade. It even opened up new regions such as Japan that had previously only allowed very minor outside trade. With steamboats that could navigate upstream British soldiers were able to traverse up the Yangtze River and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eeden also found that lucid dreams occur during the stage of sleep rapid eye movement (REM). These stages suggest that there is a state of arousal. During REM sleep the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex usually deactivates, but the occurrence of lucid dreams allows the cortex to be active, which presents the awareness of the dreams. Research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The findings helped show that lucid dreams have a positive correlation with the pushing snooze on the alarm clock. The results indicate that there is a significant relationship that is a positive correlation of lucid dreaming and the alarm clock present in the study. Waking up in the middle of the night to push the snooze button makes the occurrence of lucid dreams higher. The frequency use of the snooze button has an association with the lucid dream frequency. In future and further studies they should determine whether experimentally or/and longitudinally the alarm clock snooze button can induce the lucid dreams during the alarm snooze buttom periods or at other times during the REM sleep. These present studies have found the brain correlates of the lucid dreams in the alarm clock snooze period may have not only occurred during the stages of REM sleep, but also include wake like characteristics of electroencephalogram. While his parents say, It s keeping him out of trouble, they don t see the emotional problems violent video games are causing their son. In 2014, TIME Magazine reported that, Approximately 90% of children in the U.S. play video games, and more than 90% of those games involve mature content that often includes violence (Park). Even though many parents and caregivers don t see the harm in the violence shown in video games, television, and the internet, the effects of this exposure on children today is undeniable. Because children are being exposed to the harmful effects of violent screen time, they are more aggressive, more likely to engage in violent behavior, and desensitized to violence in general. When children play a lot of video games with adult content or watch television shows that include violent scenes, research has shown that they are more aggressive toward their classmates, friends, siblings, teachers, and even their own parents. I figure out what is wrong and quickly try to fix this issue. However, there is always a constant fear that I won t be able to figure out what is wrong when searching for a solution. If the problem isn t quickly resolved with my method, I begin to overthink what may be wrong, and often that leads me down the wrong path. Unfortunately, this happens to me more often than it should. Bomb Recycling Robots With lots of talk revolving around robots in the news, be it from artificial intelligence (AI) driven cars or that they are going to take all our jobs, there is an interesting discussion to be had about it. An article written by the Forrester states that robots will replace 7% of US jobs by 2025 , it does seem like a large problem, but it is not all bad news. With AI driven cars replacing normal cars on the road and drones taking to the skies, there are many new ways that robots will be able to save lives in the upcoming years that should not be over looked. Driverless cars are poised to take millions of jobs when they are fully approved for the masses, but there is a silver lining to it. The case study Preserve the Luxury or Extend the Brand presents a fictional dilemma, based on a real company, faced by Chateau de Vallois, a prestigious and famous wine producing estate in the Bordeaux region of France. De Vallois is a family owned and run business; part owners are Gaspard de Sauveterre a 75 year old majority owner, and equal partial owners: Francois de Sauveterre Gaspard s son and the chateau s CEO , and Claire de Valhubert Garspard s granddaughter. De Vallois had fallen into a slow decline under its previous owner, but Gaspard along with Jean Paul Oudineaux, his estate manager, had restored the chateau and since then de Vallois had been steadily profitable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem that this proposal introduces, according to her uncle Francois, is that it would add too many unnecessary and uncontrollable risks to the chateau. Such risks include: the need to purchase grapes to make the wine, raising concerns and possibly harming relationships with the negociants, investing in a distribution channel, having to take care of the marketing, insurance, and all other aspects that the negociants already perform for them, and most importantly, it may compromise their Grand Vin and Puine wines as consumers and vendors perceptions may negatively change toward the quality and reputation of de Vallois. Going through some of the details within the case, I feel that the company would benefit from following Claire s general proposal, to create a lower priced brand and enter a new market. My recommendation is that Chateau de Vallois at least invest time and effort in researching the market and truly investigating the opportunity for growth. This benefit would be present so long as de Vallois conducts a thorough market research before entering the affordable luxury market to gain an understanding of the consumers needs and wants, the demand that is present in the market for those young wine enthusiasts, and to be able to match de Vallois strengths with these needs. They would also need to identify where they would want the new label to be positioned, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although you may not be able to tell at first, the native language in Trinidad is english. The people can be hard to understand because they talk really fast with a strong dialect. On the other hand, I could go on and on about the differences of the culture of Trinidad from my own. For instance, the locals are very aggressive drivers who only use road signs as a suggestion. In Trinidad, cutting off other people, driving in and out of traffic, and occasionally stopping at stop signs and red lights is completely normal. Their driving is very aggressive, yet every driver that I rode with was very calm. They didn t have the typical road rage like we do in America. There is always a lot of traffic in Trinidad, especially in the morning and in the late afternoons. The reason for this traffic is due to the amount of people that live on the island Trinidad is populated with about 1.2 million people. The island can fit into Ohio over 22 and a half times. At night, the island is covered in lights. At first, it looked like a big city with lights everywhere, but it turned out that it was a bunch of houses. Proteins are molecules that properly instruct the cells structure, function, and regulations of the body s tissues and organs. Amino acids are what proteins are made of. No matter how great Gatsby becomes he is unable to fulfill his dream of being with Daisy. However, because Gatsby couldn t be with Daisy, he made himself become as great as a person can become. Gatsby turned himself into a gentleman, took himself from dirt poor to one of the richest men at the time, and he did it all with his motivation. Some suggest that Gatsby was not a great person because he was involved in illegal practices such as bootlegging. But in fact, bootlegging made him a great person because he was able to use the money that he made for good causes and he was also a fair person. He was extremely intelligent and understood how to be of help to others through his illegal activities. Greatness can often be seen by how wealthy one is; Gatsby was one of the most wealthy men of the time. This study evaluated napping characteristics and restrictions in valued activities participation among community dwelling older adults. In unadjusted models, we found an association between both intentional and unintentional napping and increased odds of restrictions in at least one valued activity, in comparison to rarely or never napping. While this association held after adjustment for demographic and health characteristics, there was no association between napping intention and restrictions in valued activities after further adjustment for depressive and anxiety symptoms when compared to rarely or never nappers. Among nappers, average nap duration and frequent napping were associated with restrictions in at least one valued activity, while napping intention was not. Moreover, when comparing individual activities among nappers, the strongest association was between napping characteristics (i.e. frequency, nap duration) and restrictions in going out for enjoyment followed by visiting with friends and family. Altogether, these results indicate an independent association between frequent, longer naps and restrictions in daytime functioning among community dwelling older adults, especially among those who nap. Napping may be sign of daytime sleepiness which may lead to restrictions in valued activities. Our findings are similar to those of studies on excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) that have utilized self reported napping as a marker for EDS. One community based study ... U-Boat Tactics in World War II In September of 2012, Germany s last surviving U Boat captain who helped sink dozens of U.S. and British ships has been honoured by the modern military in his homeland seven decades after he was twice decorated by Hitler for bravery. It may seem grim to honor a person who referred to American shooting season as his hobby during the war, but it is important to recognize the contributions of U Boat commanders like Reinhard Hardegen. German submarines had been an engineering vision since 1465, and preliminary German submarines were being manufactured as early as 1850 with Sebastian Wilhelm Valentin Bauer s Brandtaucher design. The Brandtaucher was much improved upon during the Industrial Age, which represented the peak of Kaiserdom in Germany. With its financial coffers relatively full, the Kaiser was able to fund designs such as those by Vogel in 1870 and Howaldt in 1891. However, Gustav Zede designed the Forelle (named after the much beloved German trout fish) and it was the first truly successful German submarine and was launched in 1903. From these early submarines evolved one of the world s most evocative killing machines, the U Boats. Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory On Child Development Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory on Child Development Erik Erikson, a well known developmental theorist, developed his theory about stages of human development from birth to death by using Freud s work as a starting point. According to Erikson, personality develops in a series of stages. Erikson found out that children experience conflicts which affect their development. He described the internal conflict which children go through in developmental stages using the term crisis and are based on either developing a psychological quality, or failing to develop that quality (Bee Boyd 2003). During this period of development, chances of developing a psychological quality or failing to develop that quality are equal. He believes that the personal identity and future development of a person are determined by the way he or she resolves the series of conflicts they go through. Concept of Erik Erikson s Theory According to Erikson s theory, children will experience five basic conflicts which will define their growth and future personality. The first stage of Erikson s Psychosocial Stages is that of a conflict between Trust and Mistrust. It takes place in the period between when a child is born to a time when he or she starts walking and involves Social and emotional development (Etaugh Rathus 1995).
