The Quotation Of Church Going
The title of the poem is ambiguous because two different approaches can be understood by
Church Going . The title could refer to the visit of the church by the speaker of the poem. But it
also could refer to the fact that the religious custom of going to church is in danger of disappear.
5 All the quotations of the poem Church Going are extracted from: Larkin, P. The less deceived.
London: The Marvell Press. (1977)
8
In the first stanza, the speakers enters the church after making sure there is no one inside: One I
am sure there s nothing going on / I step inside, letting the door thud shut (1 2). He wants to be
there alone. It seems that he does not usually go to church because if someone sees him inside the

Religion will not disappear because it will always be present in human s minds. People need to
believe in a supernatural power that give meaning to
11
their lives and religion is a serious institution, compared with other supernatural powers like
superstition that does not have seriousness:
A serious house on serious earth it is, / In whose blent air all our compulsions meet, / Are
recognised, and robed as destinies. / And that much never can be obsolete, / Since someone will
forever be surprising / A hunger in himself to be more serious, / And gravitating with it to this
ground (55 61).
The speaker s opinion towards the church evolves throughout the poem. At the beginning of the
poem, when he is describing the church, he refers to it with an ironic and sarcastic tone. The
disrespectful tone can be appreciated in phrases such as: some brass and stuff / Up at

Descriptive Essay About George Washington
The historic moment will forever be remembered when George Washington led the American
troops across the Delaware River in order to surprise the English, the day after Christmas in
1776. This is one of the most famous parts of American history; the vision of brave men standing
up and fighting together against incredible odds for the common cause of liberty. It really
speaks to me as a proud American citizen; these men didn t give up in the face of defeat; they
won the battle. I chose this website because I had connections; I enjoyed learning about our first
president s lifestyle and his house. I actually visited it once. I had such a relation to Washington
s, Never give up, kind of style so I take every advantage I can in my life, especially if it s the day
after Christmas! I selected, http://wwwmountvernon.org as the website I was reviewing. The
owners seek innovative ways to tell the story of George Washington so that his life lessons are
taught to the world. When the user first loads up the front page, they are greeted with panoramic
views of the plantation house of George Washington. It is a beautiful view and makes the user
more interested in going to Mount Vernon. It has more of an impact because the slideshow doesn
t have still frames; it has animation and life to it. Before the user scrolls down, the slideshow
consists of 60% of the front page. It acts as a background for transparent text that sits on top of it.
The menu bar also sits on top of the slideshow;

Poverty Is A National Epidemic That Plagues Americans...
Poverty is a national epidemic that plagues Americans across the country. Imagine having to
choose between the simple necessities of life, the decision of whether to buy toothpaste, toilet
paper, or laundry soap. Which is most important, which will have the largest effect on the outcome
of one s life? Could something so small really change a person s ability to survive? Funk Wagnalls
New World Encyclopedia states that povertyis the economic condition in which people lack
sufficient income to obtain certain minimal levels of health services, food, housing, clothing,
and education generally recognized as necessary to ensure an adequate standard of living (
Poverty ). Poverty is a way of life that becomes an endless cycle of struggle and production.
Work, pay bills repeat. Poverty is the reflection of greed in our nation that encourages success at
the cost of our humanity. Poverty is a generational cycle that is inherited and becomes the anchor
to all future success. It is often said that poverty is the effect of a lazy, uneducated nation, in
reality, the poverty level family has at least one adult working at least 40 hours a week at a
painstakingly back breaking job that the elite American would quiver at the thought of performing.
The effect of Poverty is caused by lack of opportunities, greed, and generational circumstances
One of the main causes of poverty is a lack of opportunities for growth and success. In 2006 there
were 7.7 million families considered at or

A Maximum Wage Research Paper
People have different views about whether governments should introduce a maximum wage.
While in some ways it may seem reasonable to allow people to earn as much as companies are
willing to pay, I personally believe that employee remuneration should be capped at a certain
level. There are various reasons why it might be considered beneficial to allow people to be paid
extremely high salaries. If companies offer excellent pay packages, they can attract the most
talented people in their fields to work for them. For example, technology companies like Google
are able to employ the best programmers because of the huge sums that they are willing to pay.
Furthermore, these well paid employees are likely to be highly motivated to work hard and therefore

Reasons Behind Nokia Market Lost Essay
Reasons Behind Nokia s Market Lost Nokia Falling Behind Nokia was once a global leader in
the mobile phone market, reaching an enormous customer base and successfully bestowed barriers
for any new players. Unfortunately, Nokia s market share showed a huge decline in the past
couple of years. Hoping to reclaim its leadership position Nokia entered into a partnership with
Microsoft, creating a series of smartphones called the Nokia Lumia. However, the company was
unable to meet their objective and is still threatened by the rapid loss of market share. Nokia s
threats are not just coming from rivals in the industry but from the company itself. Nokia is having

products are recognized for its fine designs, accountability, and sturdiness. The brand is associated
with the best products in the industry and has developed brand awareness. Although Nokia is

A Brief Note On Unfair Taxing Of Food
Unfair Taxing of Food Miraaj Pirali Houston Baptist University Food is a necessity. People must
eat to stay alive. However, what people eat is completely up to them. There are people that prefer
to eat healthy and stay fit, and then there are those that that prefer an unhealthy and sedentary
lifestyle. Those that lead an unhealthy lifestyle tend to eat foods high in fats, sugars, and unhealthy
chemicals. Foods such as these cause obesity and other health related problems. There are many
ideas that have been thrown out to keep people from eating unhealthy. One of these ideas is; to
encourage healthy eating, higher taxes should be imposed on soft drinks and junk food. While
looking at the bigger picture, one will realize that this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may be true, however, one should consider the fact that the low income families cannot
afford to buy any other healthy alternatives either. Consequently, this puts low income families in
a hole. They could not afford healthy alternatives to begin with and now they cannot afford junk
food and soft drinks either. Raising taxes on junk food and soft drinks may also leave low
income consumers with insufficient fronds to purchase other basic necessities (Pratt, 2013).
Raising taxes on food is not only heartless; it is also unethical because they are being deprived of
an essential need. (Frank et al. 2013) Taxing junk foods and soft drinks affects more than just the
people buying them; it also affects the companies selling them. Increasing the price of unhealthy
foods is likely to reduce overall consumption (Badilas, 2011). There are many different
companies that are responsible for producing junk food and soft drinks. If taxes are raised for all
junk foods and soft drinks, then there is a high probability that the public will stop buying certain
items. If this does happen, then that specific item people stop buying can cause the company
producing it to go out of business. This could be multiple companies or just one. Whether if it s
one or multiple companies going out of business, there certainly is an issue here. This will
definitely cause an

The Stereotypes Of Classical Music
Music is highly integrated into many people s daily lives, from its ability to comfort the afflicted
to its use in movies to entertaining concerts. However, in recent years, classical music has been
moving at a morendo pace in contrast to the exponential growth that other popular genres of music
such as hip hop and rap have gone through in the past century. Several harbingers including the
decreasing number of concert goers and the disappearance of lower level musicprograms in schools
have prompted debate within the classical music community over what course of action should be
taken in order to keep the music alive. While many traditionalists argue that classical music should
be maintained exactly the way it is by focusing on the survival... Show more content on

However, it is important to examine the history of how these traditions arose and analyze why
classical used to be popular. Musical institutions such as the symphony orchestras fulfilled a
vital societal role in 18th and 19th century America. Prominent symphonic societies such as the
Handel and Haydn Society in 1815 and the New York Philharmonic Society in 1842 increased
levels of commerce and entrepreneurship for nascent cities, but the key characteristic about
classical that appealed to so many people was that it was a potential economic outlet (Levy 38).
As long an individual had some musical talent, one could establish a well paying and well
respected career, regardless of socioeconomic background. Society s infatuation for classical
music did not last long though; a watershed event occurred during the Gilded Age (1870s), an era
when the increasing opulence of the upper class led to a demand for higher standard of music
making . Orchestras across the nation established a corporate order that bound the best musicians
and conductors to regular rehearsals and concerts (Levy 38). A myriad of consequences arose from
this event: an increase of competition for limited orchestral positions put impoverished immigrant
families at a disadvantage, which decreased the exposure to classical music for the majority of the
populace, which led to decreased interest in

The Pros And Cons Of Slash And Burn
Slash and Burn
Slash and burn is the cutting down of trees and burning them before new seeds are sown so that
a particular piece of land can be cleared. This is a problem that has gone on since after the stone
age, this process makes the soil less fertile and its hard for more plants to grow and fruits and
vegetables we eat become harder to grow. The affected area will desertificate and nothing can
grow there and the damage is permanent or the farmers have to wait until the soil is fertile again
but this can take a really long time. Since there are many people doing it large amounts of area are

San Pedro Pellado Volcanic Complex by Davidson, Ferguson,...
Subsequent research focusing more solely on the San Pedro Pellado Volcanic Complex by
Davidson, Ferguson, Colucci, and Dungan (1988) provides evidence that some degree of crustal
assimilation has had an impact on the evolution of magmas in the volcanic complex. The evidence
for this is the high Оґ^18O observed in fresh non glassy rock units. Taylor and Sheppard (1986)
argue that the differences in characteristics among rock units of the complex cannot be explained
by the closed system fractionalization of an unaltered mantle melt. The concentrations of the
oxygen isotopes suggest that the magmas that formed these igneous rocks have undergone some
contamination with a crustal component containing a higher concentration of 18O (Davidson et
al., 1988). The occasional presence of granitic xenoliths in the lavas and tuffs, such as the Pellado
unit, are also indicative of some level of crustal contamination. These xenoliths are enriched in
large ion lithophiles and have similar concentrations of REE as the underlying basement material
and are therefore believed to be pieces of the underlying basement of the volcanic complex
(Davidson et al., 1988). For the granites to be included into the melts as they rise through the crustal
material indicates there is some degree of interaction between melts and crustal material. In addition
to alteration by crustal contamination, the magmas of the San Pedro Pellado Complex were also
likely subject to alteration by magmamixing (Davidson et

Treatment Of Veterans With Suds And Co Occurring...
The VA runs the largest substance use disorder treatment program in the world. Treatment of
veterans with SUDs and co occurring psychiatric disorders is one of the following three paradigms;
parallel, sequential, and integrated. Most VA programs are parallel, where the patient receives
treatment for SUD in one program and treatment for PTSDin another. Many SUD PTSD veterans
may be unable to navigate the separate systems or make sense of the disparate messages about
PTSD treatment and recovery. One challenge to dissemination and implementation of EBTs is that
of dual disorders, particularly SUD and PTSD. These patients use costly inpatient services, tend to
have frequent relapses, and are less likely to adhere to or complete treatment.
Cook, Walser, Kane, and Woody (2006) did a study that had a goal of getting clinicians to accept
Seeking Safety and evaluate its efficacy when treating veterans, in hopes of bridging the gap of
parallel services at the VA to treat comorbid SUD PTSD. This study reinforced the old ways of
cannot teach an old dog new tricks because of how difficult it is to influence clinician behavior in
routine medical care. A more passive approach was taken via a daylong interactive staff training in
Seeking Safety, where clinicians were informally surveyed on their willingness to co lead groups
with the study. Four therapists volunteered. And thus, four Seeking Safety groups were formed
with 25 veteran volunteers whom had comorbid SUD PTSD. Of those, 18

Self-Reliance In Melville And Melville
Self reliance according to Emerson becomes a way of life. A life that consists of someone who
desperately searches for their identity. He offers an idea that states that the truth in thought
becomes essential. He believes in an idea of Genius that is believing in the truth of your own
self and applying that to all men. He believes in the genius being the primary factor of finding
your identity. All throughout the book, Emerson s idea of self reliance becomes a different
characteristics of how Melville perceives it. Melville offers another version of self reliance by
providing a double definition, that includes both isolation and community. A prime example that
Melville showed is Queequeg. Queequeg offers the ability to balance community and as well as
find time to isolate himself, especially for religion. Whereas Ishmael, who tries to strive to
become self reliant by isolating himself from community. Ishmael becomes someone who does not
try and understand the mysteries. Queequeg and Ishmael, throughout the book aim to be self
reliant, and in attempt Queequeg becomes an alternative model for self reliance that Melville
provides meanwhile Ishmael isolates himself from community while trying to understand the
inscrutable. Emerson s idea of self reliance provides a look into living a life of solitude, and
understanding the mysteries in life. He thinks of self reliance as some sort of soul finding .
Emerson believes in, defying the society and becoming one with yourself: I

Teen Suicides
Teen suicide in Colorado is at an all time high. It has become one of the biggest social problems
affecting all our lives in one way or another. It is a day to day experience and everyday news in
our society. It is the third leading cause of death within today s youth (Collegian). Along with so
many other things in the world that bring tragedy, it can be prevented. Douglas County needs to
consider preventing teen suicideby providing better, safer hotlines and resources, learning how to
help peers when they are down, and changing society s unrealistic expectations.
According to the Denver Post, Colorado s suicide rate, is one of the highest in the country.
Statewide, 50 young people ages 10 18 died by suicide in 2014. That number jumped to 72 in 2015

America s Impact On The Planet Essay
As a species that continues to evolve and expand on this planet, humans have made many lasting
impacts to their home. Some of these changes often go generally unnoticed, such as the shift in
popular music, or fashion trends. Even transitions from job to job, or relocating to a new city
seem to weigh lightly on the general public. However, unbeknownst to us, we as a species have a
far greater impact on this planet than we would like to admit. Throughout our day to day lives we
tend to unknowingly impact and mold or future. It can be something as simple as forgetting to
recycle that jug of milk, or neglecting to clean up a spill after a self done oil change. Even the
foods we eat and the way we manufacture them have a lasting effect on the planet. Perhaps one of
the more noticeable ways we as a society affect the Earth though is how we build upon it. With
much of the global population centralized in urban areas, and there continued growth. It is
interesting to observe the way in which this urbanized land reacts to human interference. One of the
more interesting aspects of urbanization is the use and management of water. With the continued
expansion of cities, and the modification of the land in which these concrete jungles cover, changes
to land are inevitable. In his book Urban Storm Water Management, Hormoz Pazwash briefly
summarizes some of the impacts urbanization has to land, and water quality stating. Urban
development alters the natural process of storm water runoff.

synth sets up Paul Jason Klein vocals in a way that the music and vocals blend in together can
be seen in other songs, such as the Breakup , ILYSB , and Good Girls . Being such a versatile
instrument, LANY is able to use it in every song and create a wide range of tones and vibes in
their music. This is evident throughout the album in fast paced music, and slow songs, such as It
was Love and 13 . The sound produced from the synth is crucial for LANY as the sound the synth
combined with the lyrics gives produces an atmosphere that is unique to LANY. While not as
obvious and frequently used as LANY, Oh Wonder s utilization of the synth also compliments the
singers voices. Most notably, in the song Body Gold when Josephine sings the lines, Let it go, paint
my body gold. Take our bodies higher and higher and higher . In this part of the chorus Oh Wonder
introduces the sound of a synth and subtle autotune when she sings the lyrics. This is important to
the song because the introduction of the sounds in the chorus become distorted. The distortion of
the voices and the sound of the synth compliments Josephine s voice by dragging out her voice,
resulting in an extremely mellow atmosphere. All in all, the usage of the synth creates a well
rounded album that encompasses different instrumental for different

In Zimbabwe we can see large pyramids; these large pyramids are all called the Great Zimbabwe

This period in Zimbabwe s history saw a big influx of white settlers. The post world war II era saw
the rise of the African middle class who were educated and acquired positions and jobs such as

Around 1965 the growth of nationalism started among the African people of Zimbabwe. Workers
took part in strikes; students held demonstrations and people in general were not happy with their

The Pros And Cons Of The Ivy League
The Ivy League is a group of eight private universities located in the Northeastern region of the
United States. The Ivy League has general connotations of academic excellence and elitism,
including universities like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. They are viewed as the most eminent, and
ranked among the finest universities in the world, especially in business, law, and medicine. Each
school receives millions in research grants and other subsidies from federal and state governments,
and universities like Harvard have over $34 billion in endowment funds. With small enrollment
rates, that amounts to a lot of money per student. This allows the Ivy League universities to afford
the resources needed for their academic programs and research endeavors. The Ivy League schools

This disadvantages bright students who lack upper class resources. Lower class students tend to
make poorly informed, random, or impulse decisions about college: where to go, how to get in, and
what college is about. Given the unlikelihood that their parents have never set foot on a college
campus, academically promising lower class students can become overwhelmed during the
application process. If these students are looking towards applying to top universities like the
Ivy League, they are competing against groomed upper class kids who know how to write
application essays by parents, high school counselors, and professionals paid for by their parents.
Low class students find themselves ignorant about admission requirements, costs of college and

During 1893, in Rhineland, Wisconsin a mythical beast had emerged from the wilderness.
Eugene Shepard, who was a local resident and elder in Rhineland, was out on his weekly hike
when he stumbled across an odd creature. This creature was green, about a foot tall, seven feet
long, and weighed about 200 hundred pounds. It had razor sharp teeth like a saber tooth tiger,
white long claws, spikes of all sizes running all down its spine, and red glowing eyes that one
could not help but stare into. Not sure what to do, Shepard hurried back to town to tell everyone
his discovery. Town folk and lumberjacks gathered weapons, guns, and dogs to search for this

For this portion of the project, my partner and I went back to the neighborhood center to observe
and coach the teachers with the specific language strategies we suggested for them. We did this
twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Our goal for this portion of the project was
to again observe and note what the teachers and children were doing well, and to provide
suggestions to what could be improved. Compared to the first observations I noticed Jihan and one
of the aides using more self talk and parallel talk with the children. I felt that Jihan and the aides
took our suggestions to heart and tried to implement them into various situations, and not just the
example situations we provided them with. During snack time Jihan did a good job of
commentating on what a childwas doing (now you are cleaning up your area, and now you are
bringing your spoon to the bucket, and now you are going to the sink to wash your hands). In
circle time, Amaira did a good job of describing what the childwas doing (you are banging the
instruments together, he s playing the xylophone, she s playing the triangle). We tried to reinforce
their use of the strategies by smiling and nodding when they demonstrated the strategy. I wanted
to let the know the aides that they were doing a good job, but I also did not want them to feel
patronized. I think with more experience as a clinician, I will become more comfortable with

Taking note is one of the best ways to prepare for exam. Reading different books, collecting

information as i can in a piece of paper and record the lecture at the same time as the tutor will not
wait for the student to write notes down. Listening to the recorder again and again helps to
reorganize my notes as well as avoid confusion. Recall the new terms mentioned by the teacher

Mission Statement and Acceptable Use Policy at Wuhan Foreign Languages School
This paper evaluates the mission statement at Wuhan Foreign Languages School (WFLS). It also
attempts to examine the technology mission statement, however, WFLS does not have one.
Consequently, this paper suggests one for WFLS. The technology mission statement should also be

evaluates the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) of WFLS, and also offers suggestions for improving it
and further aligning it with the mission statement of the school.

The mission statement does not reflect on anything regarding ethical or legal practices. However,

seems that reputation and results are more important than legal and ethical practices, not that

concerned that their child be given every advantage possible over the millions of other children,
and attending a school that has a reputation of students achieving high exam scores or being given
opportunities to go abroad for college are much more relevant and imperative to them than ethical
or legal practices.

Freedom In John Locke s Second Treatise Of Government
John Locke has a very distinct definition of freedom, which remains the foundation of his account
throughout Second Treatise of Government. He believes that freedom is the groundwork for the
natural state of humans, property, and the highest good. Locke was one of the first philosophers to
consider the natural rights of women children and slaves, and he states very early in his writings,
that all humans are characteristically in a state of perfect freedom . This allows humans to control
their actions, determine their person, and think without the will of any other human. In their natural
state, humans have the ability to order their actions as they see fit, because of their freedom. Locke
argues that the reason people naturally have perfect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore a person is not free until they are capable of knowing and understanding the law, but
once they have reached maturity, they are capable of knowing the law and using it as an outline.
The freedom then of man, and liberty of acting according to his own will, is grounded on his
having reason, which is able to instruct him in that law he is to govern himself by, and make
him know how far he is left to the freedom of his own will (Locke Chap. 6, Sec. 63). Children
have an equal right to life, but are not fully free, because they lack a developed understanding of
the law. Because each person owns his or her body, they are in control of their bodily person, and
also the work of their hands. For instance, if a potato farmer puts his efforts into farming the land
and cultivation his crops, he would be the owner of his crops and all profits made from the
potatoes. He would have the freedom to eat, trade or sell his potatoes in whatever manner he sees
fit. The labour of his body, and the work of his hands are entirely his (Locke Chap. 5, Sec. 27). It

The Perfect Nature Of Love And Sonnet 130 By William...
The English, or Shakespearian, sonnet has the simplest and most flexible patterns of all
sonnets. It consists of three quatrains of alternation rhyme and an ending couplet which
concludes the sonnet. William Shakespeare is known for his works such as Romeo and Juliet,
but he is well known for his sonnets. William Shakespeare s sonnet 116 and sonnet 130 describe
love in a different way; however, the sonnets center around the same idea. Sonnet 116 is about
love in its most ideal form. The first four lines, or the first quatrain, show that love is constant
and will not alter when it alteration finds (l. 3). The lines that comes after that say true love is
indeed an ever fixed mark (l. 5) that can make it through anything. Shakespeare claims that we
can measure love, whose worth s unknown (ll. 7 8), only to a degree or not in an understandable
way. The perfect nature of love is unshakeable throughout time, and it remains so even to the
edge of doom, (l. 12) or death. In the couplet, he declares that if he is wrong about the constant,
unmovable nature of love then he must take back his writings on love. He states that if he has
judged love in the wrong way, no individual has ever loved. Sonnet 130 is about a mistress who
does not have much beauty. Shakespeare compares her to things that are supposed to be beautiful.
This comparison tells the reader that her eyes are nothing like the sun (l. 1). He also says that her
lips are not as coral; compared to white show,

Career Goals For My Career
Growing up, there were several different career paths I wanted to take but was not reachable at
the time. Throughout my high school my career goal was to be a civil or mechanical engineer.
At the time, it wasn t clear to me what an engineer s job function is. My family urged me to
pursue that dream just because of the perks that comes with it such as money. Math was never
my strong suit, neither was school and to become an engineer, several mathematics courses are
required. My first two years as a transfer student in college, I had no idea what my career path
should be if engineering doesn t work out. After taking careful consideration, working in the tech
industry was something that needed to be done. A few friends of mine gently pushed me in that
direction, but my vision to pursue a career in tech was a bit fuzzy. Eventually I started leaning
towards business, but by then it was already too late for me to switch majors. I chose Sociology
as my major because I found the courses interesting to learn, and it is something I can apply to
business. Earlier this semester, I decided to push towards specific fields such as sales or human
resources. Eventually, I do see myself in a leadershipposition at work such as a management
position in my workplace. I do believe I have what it takes to become a manager, but only after
being with a company for some time so I can understand the concepts and how to adapt to the given
environment.

Political Islam And The Islamic Islam
Political Islam is a term that was coined inside the scholarly realm to allude to the more extensive
group of political frameworks that are Islam oriented. The greater part of the states that draw on the
Islamic instructions to influence political and social elements of the general public are said to be
practicing political Islam. The vast majority of the practices will look for direction from the
Islamic conventions and the Muslim scriptural foundation to settle on choices that influence the
whole state and how it identifies with whatever is left of the world. While the term may not be as

The Church Of Worship Associated With Their Religion
For the many people who choose to follow a religion, the place of worship associated with their
religion often serves as the center of their religious experience. For followers of Christianity, this
significant place is a church. By attending church services weekly, or sometimes even daily,
more common among extremely devoted members, people give meaning to the church itself.
Without the church community, meaning the people who belong to the church, the church
could be just any another brick building at the end of the street. This is not the case, however, as
active church members, and even just visitors, like myself, each instill their own meaning into
the church, and the sum of all of these individual experiences is what makes the church so
meaningful. Before this past weekend, I had only ever been to churches for weddings and
funerals. I did not grow up in a religious family, so the concept of going to church was never
prominent in my mind, nor a part of my life. From a young age, though, I could always tell that
churches were significant places. While many churches are large and grand, clearly displaying
their importance, even smaller, more simple churches still seem to demand a level of respect that
other sorts of buildings just do not. So, I decided to use this opportunity to find out what I had

An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer
Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet interaction between a
granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the
poem, I believe the meaning of the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother
never experienced, and the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced
heaven and she is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to
hear more about the purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how you can
make yourself an angel by just lying down and waving your arms (Cofer). These lines describe
winter as a place where angels are made. It mentions that even when the snow touches you, it is a
feeling of purification. This symbolizes that heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you.
The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect snow to death.
Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a connection to what she was
saying, so that they could grasp a better understanding. An example of a simile can be found in
lines 6 7: the Caribbean sun winds up the world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is
comparing two unlike things, the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection.
The Caribbean sun is what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile
adds to the poem s meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives and that is
warmth in her home in the Caribbean.
There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to visualize what
the author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of where the grandmother lives
in the Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with the winter weather, and how heaven looks
through the eyes of the granddaughter s comparison to winter. As I read through the poem
several time, I looked for some mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a
breeze again before the cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a Christian
belief that when you die you will go to heaven. I wondered how long grandma

UBI To Combat Economic Inequality
The dominant in group of men have subjected women to a minority out group. This separation has
caused unequal treatment, double standards, and stereotypes, which all help keep women in a
state of economic inequality. In order for women to experience equality, men most lose some of
their power and share it with women. Although, many men would love women to have more
economic freedom, they do not want it to come at the cost of their power. Therefore, inter group
conflict occurs. Another in group and intergroup dynamic, which is taking place, is between the

How Does Gluttony Consume Our Culture
Gluttony When people think about Gluttony, they picture a fat slob. However, there are two
different types of gluttony, which are gluttonies of delicacy and excess. The medieval s five ways
of sinning by gluttony depicts this dichotomy of gluttony perfectly. These include, eating and
drinking too soon, too expensively, too much, too eagerly, and with too much fuss (Guinness 213).
Gluttonyhas consumed our culture because we see it as the smallest of the seven deadly sinsand
most people do not even see gluttony as a sin! Steering Through Chaos demonstrates how gluttony
has pervaded our culture because of a moral emptiness, how the only cure is courage through
suffering, and how gluttony can affect my life. The gluttony of excess encompasses the first four
of the medieval ways to sin through gluttony. These four problems all associate to people who are
gluttonous in that they devour food. Time magazine gave a stupendous example when they
reported, An easy to spot glutton was the gigantic man who waddled into a Sir George s

consumption and the grand counterpoint to gluttony is a human being ablaze with the glory of
God as if consumed with divine fire (Guinness 237). John is showing how courage that seemed to

staff and promote a family friendly workplace. Although compensation based strategies play a role
in retention, there s more to keeping employees these days than offering cash incentives.
Companies are also realising the importance of organisational fit in retaining employees. Ochstein
(2007) reports through The Tribune Business Weekly that Daman Products, USA increased its
employee retention rate since the company changed its hiring tactics to hire people with soft skills
(ability to communicate effectively, working in a team, display strong work ethic etc. ) and then
train them for the technical skills. He indicates that when the company first started, 34% of
employees left within 2 years, this percentage is now down to 17. Summary of Key Findings
Workforce turnover is a complex and important issue amongst today s organisations. It is perhaps
one of the most often cited cause of increased cost and decreased productivity. No wonder people
management has become an important frontier to extract and create more value from company
assets. On comprehending the articles, it has become evident that organisations have moved
beyond the traditional approach of only investing in core business activities, to invest in employee
retention strategies. Many organisations, for example St. George Bank

Compare And Contrast Tang Dynasty And Empires
Different Dynasty and empires
The Silk Road in the Han Dynasty
Initially, the silk was traded within the empire, from the interior to the western borders. The small
Central Asian Tribes often attacked caravans which made the Han Government to take safety
measures for trade by sending General Zhang Qian (200 114 BC) as a representative to build a
strong bond with these nomadic states.
The trade relations were build up with these small but important kingdoms of Chang an (Xi an), the
Western Han Dynasty s capital (206 BC 220 AD) and with Zhang reaching Loulan, Qiuzi, and
Yutian.
Zhang s generals went even further into Central Asia. All of the kingdoms Zhang and his delegation

Later on, the Tuque Tribe was captured by The Tang Dynasty, the route was revived, and further
promoted trading which resulted affluently in trade with the West.
During this period, the Silk Road was travelled by a famous Chinese monk Xuanzang (602 664),
who began his journey from Chang an (today s Xi an), covering the area west of Yellow River the
Hexi Corridor, Hami (Xinjiang Region), and Turpan (Xinjiang Region) and continued westward to
India.
The Silk Road in the Yuan Dynasty
During the Yuan Dynasty (1271 1368) Silk Road revived its trade to a summit, when Chinabecame
largely reliant on its silk trade. Genghis Khan occupied all the minor states, amalgamated China,
and erected a huge empire under his law.
Marco Polo (1254 1324) visited Dadu (now Beijing), the capital of Yuan while roaming along the
Silk Road. He wrote a book regarding the Orient in which he stated about a special passport (in a
form of a board) which was issued by the Yuan Government to the merchants in a view to save their
trade and permitted movement within the

Major Challenges of Organizational Management
MAJOR CHALLENGES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT
There are a number of differences between FMC s Aberdeen and Green River, the two facilities
of discussion. One may assume, therefore, that managerial styles, business practices, and other
aspects of business and the employees involved, would be very different from one another. On the
other hand, it is quite possible to use very similar styles of doing business and managing a
company, despite differences in the company, as a good style of managing, and good practices
would assist any business in succeeding. Management, employees and productivity being the main
focus s at hand, one may first want to review these differences between the two facilities. To begin
with, the facility in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Good communication between all management levels and employees is also necessary in keeping
any business running efficiently. Again, seeing as how the Aberdeen facility has already
established these practices, and has them running smoothly, they need only to maintain them and
increase innovation with the times.
If I were to use an analogy to describe these two types of managerial styles, I would state that the
original style of managing was like a pyramid, and this new style of managing was a linked
chain. The pyramid is dependent on all of its members, but there is a definite sense of
superiority, as the higher management levels shrink down in numbers, but tower over all else.
This pyramid, upon producing positive results, is viewed by others as having produced them due
to the excellence of the peak of the pyramid, with very little or no recognition at the bottom of
said pyramid. The linked chain on the other hand, though still managed with upper and lower
levels, reacts more as a team, giving those involved more recognition for their accomplishments.
People who are recognized as such, and appreciated for their individual strengths, may be more
likely to utilize these strengths and feel that they are a part of the company, rather than a pawn of
the company. There is something very positive to be said for this type of thinking, if everyone on
the Earth felt

The State Of The Modern Vaccination Debate
Rightful Authority to Mandate Vaccines

Rightful Authority to Mandate Vaccines
Social Problem
State of Current Social Problem The term herd immunity became a common phrase as the debate
surrounding mandating vaccines continues to grow. The modern vaccination debate often appears to
focus on the effectiveness of vaccines as many media sources affirmed or denounced a potential
correlation between autism and vaccines. Although these stories about autism and vaccines became
headlines, the history of mandating vaccines addresses the authority of the government to
distinguish between individual concerns and the common good. The current now ultimately
focuses on examining the authority of the government to distinguish between individual concerns
and the common good rather than the effectiveness of vaccines.
History of VaccineMandate Debate
The current debate surrounding mandating vaccines for children to attend public school roots
itself in a deep history with a 21st century twist. A recent measles outbreak in early 2015 merely
reopened this long standing debate which now spills into the very early campaigning for the 2016
Presidential election. The presence of this debate in the early stages of the election proves it as a
compelling controversy needing settlement through clear policies.
This recent debate often appears as a fresh controversy, but instead began over a century ago most
notably with the Supreme Court

Alpha Wolf Research Paper
Living in a family group called packs makes the wolves a well organized species. Wolves are very
social and intelligent animals.
Life cycle
Gray wolves only breed once a year from between January to March. (Typically, only the male
and female pack leaders.) After a 63 day gestation period, the mother will give birth to an average
of 4 6 pups around the months of April to May. When the pups are born, they are deaf and blind,
weighing in about 1 pound. During the first 3 weeks, while the pups are nursing every 4 6 hours,
they still need help regulating their body temperatures, the mother typically stays inside the den

They represent the middle class and in most cases, the subordinates were Omegas that had climbed
up the social ladder by dominating other members of the pack. They re usually submissive towards
the wolves who are higher up the hierarchy. Occasionally, the subordinates could become the new
Alpha wolf by fighting their pack leaders. They can actually skip the Beta position and become the
new Alpha.
The Omega Wolf
Omega wolves are at the very bottom of the pack hierarchy. The Omegas are the ones who feed
last and if their Alpha demands it, they won t eat at all. Often the other members of the pack will
bully the Omegas. But the Omega does play a very important role in the pack. The Omegas help
the other members of the pack vent off conflicts without causing acts of war.
In recent studies they show that their contribution goes far beyond internal conflict resolution. It
seems that packs who lose their Omegas will stop all hunting and begin to mourn them. Within their
pack, they can fight their way up to the top of the hierarchy, but the Omegas status can only be
earned by defeating their opponents on multiple occasions until the others recognize their
dominance.

The Battle Of The Cruise Missile
Since man first began traversing the world s waterways, we have been battling for control and
supremacy over them. Whoever owns the sea has the upper hand in war. The outcome of war is
determined by a complex combination of factors including: strategy, tactics, training, morale,
leadership, organization, technology, weapons, and some luck. Having a slight advantage in most
of these categories, or a great superiority in one, can lead to victory. Although there isn t always a
set order of which factor is most important, it is evident that the side possessing superior weapons
has an increased chance of victory. The cruise missileis the latest in a line of technologies which
decidedly changed the conduct of maritime warfare. This technology dramatically shifted the role
of naval forces in both the land and maritime engagements, and expanded the naval battlefield to
unforeseen distances and locales. Thus, impacting the way the United States Navyhas approached
strategy, tactics, and inter service relations. Strategy
The cruise missile has allowed the United States Navy to carry out its strategies of obtaining sea
control and supremacy, and acting as a strategic deterrence; discouraging other countries from
starting conflict. One of the greatest aspects of the cruise missile is the ability it has to carry
nuclear warheads and launch them from a submarine or surface ship. Cruise missiles launched from

Chapter 3 The Balance Sheet and Financial Disclosures
Questions for Review of Key Topics
Question 3 1
The purpose of the balance sheet, also known as the statement of financial position, is to present the
financial position of the company on a particular date. Unlike the income statement, which is a
change statement that reports events occurring during a period of time, the balance sheet is a
statement that presents an organized array of assets, liabilities, and shareholders equity at a point
in time. It is a freeze frame or snapshot picture of financial position at the end of a particular day
marking the end of an accounting period.

are such data as the market values of financial instruments and off balance sheet risk associated with
financial instruments and details of pension plans, leases, debt, and assets. Common to all
companies disclosures are certain specific notes such as a summary of significant accounting
policies, descriptions of subsequent events, and related third party transactions. However, many
notes are designed to fit the disclosure needs of the particular reporting company. In fact, any
explanation that helps investors and creditors make decisions should be included.

Question 3 12
The disclosure of the company s significant accounting policies is extremely important to external
users in terms of their ability to compare financial information across companies. It is critical to a
financial analyst involved in assessing future cash flows of two construction companies to know
that one company uses the percentage of completion method in recognizing gross profit, while the
other company uses the completed contract method.

Sex And The City Of Rome Essay
Sex. It s the taboo. We don t like to talk about it because it makes us uncomfortable, but when
analyzed, it can tell us so much about a society, their core values, and the ideals that controlled
their society. Though the saying is doing it like the Greeks when talking about something
perceived explicit and raunchy, Rome had quiet the culture of sexual back and forth as the Greeks
once had, and that Western culture experiences today. Sex and the city of Rome had complicated
lines of what was acceptable and what was not. Through research, the concept of purity, of both the
free roman bloodline, and the purity of the roles of males and females, serves as a guiding concept
when analyzing what is acceptable and not in ancient Rome. Pudicitia is the core value in Roman
sex culture, and in all cases it is clear that the purity of Roman women, men, and free born bloodline
is the utmost concern.
Both girls and men, however particularly girls, were imagined to uphold pudicitia, a fancy virtue
that will be translated as restraint or chastity. A girl with a high degree of pudicitia, that is, a
univira or one man lady, would ask for above all to seem modest and to limit her social interaction
with men apart from her husband and male relatives. At a similar time, a single lady didn t suffer
stigma; within the higher categories, it had been common and even expected for a single or
unmarried lady to espouse. Pudicitia symbolized reason and goodness, whereas impudicitia that is,

Metaphors In Brokeback Mountain
In Ang Lee s film Brokeback Mountain, two men, Ennis and Jack, cross paths and develop a
complex, taboo relationship that neither of them can explain. They lose their wives, children, and
ultimately feel as if they lose their own grasp of who they are as men while exploring their feelings
for each other. Nature and the surroundings of Ennis and Jack play a vital role in understanding the
mood of the situation and their feelings throughout the story. The story is primarily expressed
through its surroundings; this is how the emotions of the characters are expressed. Instead of being
straightforward, the nature is a more meaningful and effective way to illustrate their feelings. Annie
Proulx, the author of the short story, uses metaphors and imagery... Show more content on

Lee incorporates the sound of wind to illustrate the metaphor of insecurity. The opening scene with
the truck driving through the hills includes several extreme long shots with a cold, dark
atmosphere and sharp, unwelcoming music and the sound of wind, which returns when Ennis is
leaning against his trailer moments later. These scenes foreshadow the events to come with Jack
and the feelings of lostness and insecurity that Ennis feels. In the scene after Jack and Ennis s first
sexual encounter in the tent, Ennis and Jack are horsing around in the field while Joe, their boss,
watches them in disgust. During this scene, the wind is loud and the trees shake, representing
distress and negativity. The wind is recurring and often is meant to express the feelings they can t
explain with words. Ennis feels as if his feelings for Jack are not accepted by society and therefore,
by himself, either. When Ennis goes to Jack s home to see his parents, the atmosphere in the house
is extremely unwelcoming. The surroundings represent the feelings of insecurity and being an
outcast in the home that Ennis feels. The cold, stark atmosphere of Jack s home illustrates the
christian judgement that Ennis and Jack feel from their families. Even in the beginning of the film,
Ennis is leaning against the trailer and there is a church steeple in the background, foreshadowing
the judgement from society. Ennis feels extremely cornered and insecure by Jack s father and their
home. While Ang Lee and Annie Proulx take slightly different angles to the story, they both find
ways to portray the same

Male Biased ASR Essay
The ASR, for example, is population specific but its effects underscore the pervasive and
recurring issue of sexual conflict. In Rossmanith (2006), male biased ASR was correlated with
increased occurrence of polyandry in the lesser spotted woodpecker (Picoides minor). In song
sparrows (Melospiza melodia), males were monogamous at times when there was an excess of
males, but were inclined to polygyny with the materialization of femalebiased ASR. Liker (2014)
summarized that polygamy by males is much more frequent with female biased ASR than with male
biased ASR, whereas polygamy by females is more common at male biased ASR. The favorable sex

As a result, avian species with reversed sex roles and duties offer a unique avenue for examining
the relationship between sex ratios, mating systems, and parental investment. Species with
female biased ASR demonstrate conventional sex roles while those with male biased ASR
exhibit reversed sex roles. In the northern flicker (Colaptes auratus), a migratory woodpecker
which exhibits a culture of partially reversed sex roles, males have been found to care for a greater
period of time than females. In a study by Gow and Wiebe (2014), males cared for 16 days on
average while females cared for their offspring for an average of 12. In total, one third of
females abandoned the brood before fledgling independence, whereas no males left their young.
Provision and feeding rates were found to be highly correlated; in addition to age, feeding rates
increased with length of care. The social context, as reflected in the ASR, clearly results in sex
specific differences in the form of biparental

Suspense In The Demon Lover
The Demon Lover is a short story which contained a vast theme. The two main themes: horror and
romance mingled together, accompanying with the extraordinary use of descriptive languages to
describe the ambiance, thus creating suspense. Through the portrayal of the steamy, showery sky
and the internal environment of the old and vacant house, the author tried to evoke queerness and
eerie to both the readers and the main character, Mrs. Drover. With the uses of pictorial words,
Elizabeth successfully created suspense and this suspense kept enlarging like a snow ball as the
story goes on. This suspension reached the summit when Mrs. Drover suspected that someone was
also in this house, looking at her. What is amazing about this part is that not only did the story
approached to its climax, Elizabeth also foreshadowed that something is going to happen later. This
page turner excited reader s curiosity to find out what will happen next.... Show more content on

Collonization Of Australia And Indigenous Australian People
Identify the primary factors which led to the colonisation of Australia and Indigenous Australian
peoples and explain the theories of race which supported this process.
This essay identifies the primary factors which led to the colonisation of Australia and Indigenous
Australian peoples while explaining how race theories were used to justify colonising Australia.
Many factors led to the colonisation of Australia including British Imperialism, but the penal
colony was very important so the British pushed on, whether they had the right to or not. Race
was a theory and using sources, this essay explores different opinions and perspectives of the race
theories. The Indigenous Australian people were on the lower end of the Great Chain of Being and
therefore, were treated as inferior to the Europeans.
British colonialism emerged from rapid political, social and economic change and this affected the
development of technology and a strong sense of national pride and identity which led the way for
the British Empire to be a global power. Due to the Industrial Revolution, the majority of the
population lived in the city which created poor living conditions and overcrowding. With low
economic rates, many people were pushed into theft to feed their families and in turn, the crime
rates rose significantly. Many convicts were sentenced to transportation and were sent, and
sometimes sold, to work as labourers in South American colonies. Due to the American War of
Independence,

People need to believe in a supernatural power that give meaning to 11 their lives and religion is a serious institution, compared with other supernatural powers like superstition that does not have seriousness: A serious house on serious earth it is, / In whose blent air all our compulsions meet, / Are recognised, and robed as destinies. / And that much never can be obsolete, / Since someone will forever be surprising / A hunger in himself to be more serious, / And gravitating with it to this ground (55 61). • 3. Descriptive Essay About George Washington The historic moment will forever be remembered when George Washington led the American troops across the Delaware River in order to surprise the English, the day after Christmas in 1776. This is one of the most famous parts of American history; the vision of brave men standing up and fighting together against incredible odds for the common cause of liberty. It really speaks to me as a proud American citizen; these men didn t give up in the face of defeat; they won the battle. I chose this website because I had connections; I enjoyed learning about our first president s lifestyle and his house. I actually visited it once. I had such a relation to Washington s, Never give up, kind of style so I take every advantage I can in my life, especially if it s the day after Christmas! I selected, http://wwwmountvernon.org as the website I was reviewing. The owners seek innovative ways to tell the story of George Washington so that his life lessons are taught to the world. When the user first loads up the front page, they are greeted with panoramic views of the plantation house of George Washington. It is a beautiful view and makes the user more interested in going to Mount Vernon. It has more of an impact because the slideshow doesn t have still frames; it has animation and life to it. Before the user scrolls down, the slideshow consists of 60% of the front page. It acts as a background for transparent text that sits on top of it. The menu bar also sits on top of the slideshow; ... They could not afford healthy alternatives to begin with and now they cannot afford junk food and soft drinks either. Raising taxes on junk food and soft drinks may also leave low income consumers with insufficient fronds to purchase other basic necessities (Pratt, 2013). Raising taxes on food is not only heartless; it is also unethical because they are being deprived of an essential need. (Frank et al. 2013) Taxing junk foods and soft drinks affects more than just the people buying them; it also affects the companies selling them. Increasing the price of unhealthy foods is likely to reduce overall consumption (Badilas, 2011). There are many different companies that are responsible for producing junk food and soft drinks. If taxes are raised for all junk foods and soft drinks, then there is a high probability that the public will stop buying certain items. If this does happen, then that specific item people stop buying can cause the company producing it to go out of business. This could be multiple companies or just one. However, in recent years, classical music has been moving at a morendo pace in contrast to the exponential growth that other popular genres of music such as hip hop and rap have gone through in the past century. Several harbingers including the decreasing number of concert goers and the disappearance of lower level musicprograms in schools have prompted debate within the classical music community over what course of action should be taken in order to keep the music alive. However, it is important to examine the history of how these traditions arose and analyze why classical used to be popular. Musical institutions such as the symphony orchestras fulfilled a vital societal role in 18th and 19th century America. Prominent symphonic societies such as the Handel and Haydn Society in 1815 and the New York Philharmonic Society in 1842 increased levels of commerce and entrepreneurship for nascent cities, but the key characteristic about classical that appealed to so many people was that it was a potential economic outlet (Levy 38). As long an individual had some musical talent, one could establish a well paying and well respected career, regardless of socioeconomic background. Society s infatuation for classical music did not last long though; a watershed event occurred during the Gilded Age (1870s), an era when the increasing opulence of the upper class led to a demand for higher standard of music making . Orchestras across the nation established a corporate order that bound the best musicians and conductors to regular rehearsals and concerts (Levy 38). A myriad of consequences arose from this event: an increase of competition for limited orchestral positions put impoverished immigrant families at a disadvantage, which decreased the exposure to classical music for the majority of the populace, which led to decreased interest in ... • 16. San Pedro Pellado Volcanic Complex by Davidson, Ferguson,... Subsequent research focusing more solely on the San Pedro Pellado Volcanic Complex by Davidson, Ferguson, Colucci, and Dungan (1988) provides evidence that some degree of crustal assimilation has had an impact on the evolution of magmas in the volcanic complex. The evidence for this is the high Оґ^18O observed in fresh non glassy rock units. Taylor and Sheppard (1986) argue that the differences in characteristics among rock units of the complex cannot be explained by the closed system fractionalization of an unaltered mantle melt. The concentrations of the oxygen isotopes suggest that the magmas that formed these igneous rocks have undergone some contamination with a crustal component containing a higher concentration of 18O (Davidson et al., 1988). The occasional presence of granitic xenoliths in the lavas and tuffs, such as the Pellado unit, are also indicative of some level of crustal contamination. These xenoliths are enriched in large ion lithophiles and have similar concentrations of REE as the underlying basement material and are therefore believed to be pieces of the underlying basement of the volcanic complex (Davidson et al., 1988). For the granites to be included into the melts as they rise through the crustal material indicates there is some degree of interaction between melts and crustal material. In addition to alteration by crustal contamination, the magmas of the San Pedro Pellado Complex were also likely subject to alteration by magmamixing (Davidson et ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Treatment of veterans with SUDs and co occurring psychiatric disorders is one of the following three paradigms; parallel, sequential, and integrated. Most VA programs are parallel, where the patient receives treatment for SUD in one program and treatment for PTSDin another. Many SUD PTSD veterans may be unable to navigate the separate systems or make sense of the disparate messages about PTSD treatment and recovery. One challenge to dissemination and implementation of EBTs is that of dual disorders, particularly SUD and PTSD. These patients use costly inpatient services, tend to have frequent relapses, and are less likely to adhere to or complete treatment. Cook, Walser, Kane, and Woody (2006) did a study that had a goal of getting clinicians to accept Seeking Safety and evaluate its efficacy when treating veterans, in hopes of bridging the gap of parallel services at the VA to treat comorbid SUD PTSD. This study reinforced the old ways of cannot teach an old dog new tricks because of how difficult it is to influence clinician behavior in routine medical care. A more passive approach was taken via a daylong interactive staff training in Seeking Safety, where clinicians were informally surveyed on their willingness to co lead groups with the study. He believes in the genius being the primary factor of finding your identity. All throughout the book, Emerson s idea of self reliance becomes a different characteristics of how Melville perceives it. Some of these changes often go generally unnoticed, such as the shift in popular music, or fashion trends. Even transitions from job to job, or relocating to a new city seem to weigh lightly on the general public. However, unbeknownst to us, we as a species have a far greater impact on this planet than we would like to admit. Throughout our day to day lives we tend to unknowingly impact and mold or future. It can be something as simple as forgetting to recycle that jug of milk, or neglecting to clean up a spill after a self done oil change. Even the foods we eat and the way we manufacture them have a lasting effect on the planet. Perhaps one of the more noticeable ways we as a society affect the Earth though is how we build upon it. With much of the global population centralized in urban areas, and there continued growth. It is interesting to observe the way in which this urbanized land reacts to human interference. One of the more interesting aspects of urbanization is the use and management of water. William Shakespeare is known for his works such as Romeo and Juliet, but he is well known for his sonnets. William Shakespeare s sonnet 116 and sonnet 130 describe love in a different way; however, the sonnets center around the same idea. Sonnet 116 is about love in its most ideal form. The first four lines, or the first quatrain, show that love is constant and will not alter when it alteration finds (l. 3). The lines that comes after that say true love is indeed an ever fixed mark (l. 5) that can make it through anything. Shakespeare claims that we can measure love, whose worth s unknown (ll. 7 8), only to a degree or not in an understandable way. The perfect nature of love is unshakeable throughout time, and it remains so even to the edge of doom, (l. 12) or death. In the couplet, he declares that if he is wrong about the constant, unmovable nature of love then he must take back his writings on love. He states that if he has judged love in the wrong way, no individual has ever loved. Sonnet 130 is about a mistress who does not have much beauty. Shakespeare compares her to things that are supposed to be beautiful. This comparison tells the reader that her eyes are nothing like the sun (l. 1). He also says that her lips are not as coral; compared to white show, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout my high school my career goal was to be a civil or mechanical engineer. At the time, it wasn t clear to me what an engineer s job function is. My family urged me to pursue that dream just because of the perks that comes with it such as money. Math was never my strong suit, neither was school and to become an engineer, several mathematics courses are required. My first two years as a transfer student in college, I had no idea what my career path should be if engineering doesn t work out. After taking careful consideration, working in the tech industry was something that needed to be done. A few friends of mine gently pushed me in that direction, but my vision to pursue a career in tech was a bit fuzzy. Eventually I started leaning towards business, but by then it was already too late for me to switch majors. I chose Sociology as my major because I found the courses interesting to learn, and it is something I can apply to business. Earlier this semester, I decided to push towards specific fields such as sales or human resources. Eventually, I do see myself in a leadershipposition at work such as a management position in my workplace. I do believe I have what it takes to become a manager, but only after being with a company for some time so I can understand the concepts and how to adapt to the given environment. • 36. The Church Of Worship Associated With Their Religion For the many people who choose to follow a religion, the place of worship associated with their religion often serves as the center of their religious experience. For followers of Christianity, this significant place is a church. By attending church services weekly, or sometimes even daily, more common among extremely devoted members, people give meaning to the church itself. Without the church community, meaning the people who belong to the church, the church could be just any another brick building at the end of the street. This is not the case, however, as active church members, and even just visitors, like myself, each instill their own meaning into the church, and the sum of all of these individual experiences is what makes the church so meaningful. Before this past weekend, I had only ever been to churches for weddings and funerals. I did not grow up in a religious family, so the concept of going to church was never prominent in my mind, nor a part of my life. From a young age, though, I could always tell that churches were significant places. While many churches are large and grand, clearly displaying their importance, even smaller, more simple churches still seem to demand a level of respect that other sorts of buildings just do not. • 37. An Analysis Of Cold As Heaven By Judith Ortiz Cofer Cold as Heaven Judith Ortiz Cofer s poem Cold as Heaven is a very sweet interaction between a granddaughter and her dying grandmother. The granddaughter is the narrator. After reading the poem, I believe the meaning of the poem is that the cold is something that the grandmother never experienced, and the cold refers to heaven. The grandmother has not yet experienced heaven and she is curious. In lines 25 30: When her eyes return to me, I can see she s waiting to hear more about the purifying nature of ice, how snow makes way for a body, how you can make yourself an angel by just lying down and waving your arms (Cofer). These lines describe winter as a place where angels are made. It mentions that even when the snow touches you, it is a feeling of purification. This symbolizes that heaven is a place filled with angels that purify you. The poem consists of many different uses of figurative language in order to connect snow to death. Cofer included the use of similes to allow the readers to make a connection to what she was saying, so that they could grasp a better understanding. An example of a simile can be found in lines 6 7: the Caribbean sun winds up the world like an old alarm clock (Cofer). The author is comparing two unlike things, the sun and an alarm clock, however they have a similar connection. The Caribbean sun is what wakes the world, just like an alarm clock does. The use of this simile adds to the poem s meaning because it describes the life that the grandmother lives and that is warmth in her home in the Caribbean. There is a lot of imagery included in the poem. Throughout the poem I was able to visualize what the author descriptively shared. The poem includes descriptions of where the grandmother lives in the Caribbean, where the granddaughter lives with the winter weather, and how heaven looks through the eyes of the granddaughter s comparison to winter. As I read through the poem several time, I looked for some mention of Christianity. I found it in lines 1 2: Before there is a breeze again before the cooling days of Lent, she may be gone (Cofer). Obviously, it is a Christian belief that when you die you will go to heaven. I wondered how long grandma ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The pyramid is dependent on all of its members, but there is a definite sense of superiority, as the higher management levels shrink down in numbers, but tower over all else. This pyramid, upon producing positive results, is viewed by others as having produced them due to the excellence of the peak of the pyramid, with very little or no recognition at the bottom of said pyramid. Ennis feels extremely cornered and insecure by Jack s father and their home. While Ang Lee and Annie Proulx take slightly different angles to the story, they both find ways to portray the same ... • 53. Male Biased ASR Essay The ASR, for example, is population specific but its effects underscore the pervasive and recurring issue of sexual conflict. In Rossmanith (2006), male biased ASR was correlated with increased occurrence of polyandry in the lesser spotted woodpecker (Picoides minor). In song sparrows (Melospiza melodia), males were monogamous at times when there was an excess of males, but were inclined to polygyny with the materialization of femalebiased ASR. Liker (2014) summarized that polygamy by males is much more frequent with female biased ASR than with male biased ASR, whereas polygamy by females is more common at male biased ASR. The favorable sex subsequently pursues auspicious mating opportunities and can desert their mate, often to re nest with a new mate (Pilastro... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, avian species with reversed sex roles and duties offer a unique avenue for examining the relationship between sex ratios, mating systems, and parental investment. Species with female biased ASR demonstrate conventional sex roles while those with male biased ASR exhibit reversed sex roles. In the northern flicker (Colaptes auratus), a migratory woodpecker which exhibits a culture of partially reversed sex roles, males have been found to care for a greater period of time than females. In a study by Gow and Wiebe (2014), males cared for 16 days on average while females cared for their offspring for an average of 12. In total, one third of females abandoned the brood before fledgling independence, whereas no males left their young. Provision and feeding rates were found to be highly correlated; in addition to age, feeding rates increased with length of care. The social context, as reflected in the ASR, clearly results in sex specific differences in the form of biparental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two main themes: horror and romance mingled together, accompanying with the extraordinary use of descriptive languages to describe the ambiance, thus creating suspense. Through the portrayal of the steamy, showery sky and the internal environment of the old and vacant house, the author tried to evoke queerness and eerie to both the readers and the main character, Mrs. Drover. This suspension reached the summit when Mrs. Drover suspected that someone was also in this house, looking at her. Collonization Of Australia And Indigenous Australian People Identify the primary factors which led to the colonisation of Australia and Indigenous Australian peoples and explain the theories of race which supported this process. This essay identifies the primary factors which led to the colonisation of Australia and Indigenous Australian peoples while explaining how race theories were used to justify colonising Australia. Many factors led to the colonisation of Australia including British Imperialism, but the penal colony was very important so the British pushed on, whether they had the right to or not. Race was a theory and using sources, this essay explores different opinions and perspectives of the race theories. The Indigenous Australian people were on the lower end of the Great Chain of Being and therefore, were treated as inferior to the Europeans. British colonialism emerged from rapid political, social and economic change and this affected the development of technology and a strong sense of national pride and identity which led the way for the British Empire to be a global power. Due to the Industrial Revolution, the majority of the population lived in the city which created poor living conditions and overcrowding. With low economic rates, many people were pushed into theft to feed their families and in turn, the crime rates rose significantly. Many convicts were sentenced to transportation and were sent, and sometimes sold, to work as labourers in South American colonies. Due to the American War of Independence, ... But your intention was to turn around, but the actions that were involved in turning around was stabbing Suzy, so should you be criticized?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
