Characteristics Of A Hotel
Nowadays, hospitality is required in the business fields in general such as; hotels. As we know, in the
modern life, there are many of international brands and competition between hotels. However, there
are some qualities we have to consider before choosing a hotel as a guest or as a job offer to work in
it. (Tan, 2008) Firstly, in an ideal world every industry or even every successful person should have a
vision and a mission of his or her work. So, the vision is what a person wants to achieve in a real life,
the mission means what is the purpose of the business to make money or even to make charity.
Following this further, a new business should put a strong vision to motivate the staff to work
seriously and to reach the main goal of the industry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Hearn, 2002). Since the beginning of a business, the manager should focus on the mission statement
of the industry, and how to apply the mission of the industry in a real life. Moreover, every company
should make an appraisal forms every year or even every month to make sure that the company is
running towards its mission statement by evaluating the performance of all the departments in the
company and to support the weaknesses. (Beek, 2007) This report highlights on Westin Doha Hotel
and Spa, the vision and mission of this hotel are based on the scope of hotels in Doha. The vision of
Westin hotel is to be the most well known hotel in Doha and to gain the publicity in a hospitality field
in Qatar by making huge events which are interested in charity such as; making open days for elderly
and children with cancer. Also, the mission of Westin hotel is to gain money and to overcome all the
difficulties that Qatar is facing after blocking. Some strategies are followed by Westin hotel to

The Culinary World Of Culinary Arts
Burning sherbets, instantly frozen ice cream, pasta made out of jelly or vegetables, edible menus,
kitchens with sonicators, pH meters, liquid nitrogen, which can flash freeze almost anything, makes it
feel almost like magic or something out of a fantasy or science fiction novel. But it is not, in fact it is
part of culinary arts, where innovation has taken wings, and revolutionized the art and science of
cooking. Terms like culinary science, culinology and molecular gastronomy have become part of the
innovative culinary world. Innovation is communicated and translated into culinary arts, especially by
chefs and others involved in the industry through creative adaptations, like molecular gastronomy,
culinology, fusions, transformations, co creation etc. Innovation spans through different areas of the
culinary world and is not only limited to the process of cooking, but also to understand the consumers,
as well as to develop different utensils and incorporate other means of technology. (Várela, 2013)
In the world of innovative culinary arts, culinology, a term coined by Winston Riley, founder and
former president of the Research Chefs Association (RCA), is considered as the approach to food, that
blends culinary arts and food technology in an effort to make food better, safer and more consistent.
(Tenbergen, 2009) It often translates ideas from fine dining or traditional ethnic cuisine to chain
restaurant dishes or processed food. It was evolution of a new process and

Jackson Pollock s Full Fathom Five
Jackson Pollock s painting titled Full Fathom Five reveals black and silver splatters of paint that aren t
necessarily straight. His painting includes colors such as blue, black, white and even specks of orange.
In addition, there are no figures which can be easily deciphered and the paint seems to have been
spilled all over the canvas. Thus, the painting does not display calculation or a heavy use of logic.
Instead, his creation seems to thrive off creativity and disorder. So I ask, how do we make sense of
such an unreasonable painting?
The answer can be found within the philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche introduces
to readers both the Apollonian force and the Dionysian force is his book The Birth of Tragedy. To be
specific, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under these circumstances, Jackson Pollock s painting has a sense of musicality to it that adds onto
the creative disorder. That is to say that his irrational paint splatters are almost rhythmic in the way
they were splattered onto the canvas. Friedrich Nietzsche believes that this rhythm is very significant
since it only occurs under the influence of the Dionysian force. This can be seen in the quote: The
essence of nature is now to be expressed symbolically...not the mere symbolism of the lips, face, and
speech but the whole pantomime of dancing, forcing every member into rhythmic movement, Then
the other symbolic powers suddenly press forward, particularly those of music, in rhythmics,
dynamics, and harmony (Cahn and Meskin 225). Nietzsche s quote tells us how the Dionysian force
causes a dancer to exude harmony and rhythm. As dancers under the Dionysian influence would all
dance together in unison, the paint splatters dance across the canvas in a way that makes it all come
together. For this reason, when looking at Full Fathom Five, the paint starts to resemble musical dance
rather than images or lines. However, Pollock s painting not only features motions similar to the the
art of dance. Full Fathom Five is essentially a grand mystery of indiscernible images coexisting
among one another. For example, Friedrich Nietzsche says

The Asbjectages And Disadvantages Of Simulation
benefits and limitations. A review of the literature indicated that no academic exercise has been
undertaken to assess the full potential of simulation tools either in the design and manufacture of
airframes or any other industrial sector. Therefore, it is vital to assess the role of simulation tools
throughout the product life cycle and define the best use of these tools within selected areas. There are
a number of US companies that are leading the way forward through full corporate investment, time
and collaboration partnership (simulation vendors) in developing simulation as an integral element in
their company. These companies have planned in detail their approach to simulation to allow them to

The use of simulation capabilities in the right first time approach has become an important tool in
product and process design and development.
Simulation is used for tooling design and development and runs concurrently with product design in
the right first time approach , which reduces lead times to shop floor activities.
When simulation is adopted there is also a requirement for some thought to the way they are used
within the business process.
The interaction process between simulation types has to be appropriate and highly efficient to ensure
that the benefits of simulation integration are not lost through isolated activities.
Even though data transfer techniques have advanced significantly, internal business system
configurations need to be developed to allow for these transfer techniques to be used efficiently.
Product data management must ensure that all participants involved in product and process design

People choose to do something to be accepted by other people. This reason convinces them to choose
a specific decision so they can feel better about themselves.
In Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, the girls help out a poor immigrant family so the their mother

says, let s each get her something for Christmas, and not get anything for ourselves (Alcott para 6).

Perspective on Religion Herman Melville s Moby-Dick Essay
Perspective on Religion Herman Melville s Moby Dick
A cornerstone of the philosophical and narrative substructure of Herman Melville s Moby Dick is
point of view, or perspective. The textually primary point of view in the novel is Ishmael s, since he is
the narrator of the story. However, Ishmael relates his story in such a way that one can easily detect
numerous other voices, or other perspectives, in the story, which often oppose the narrator s voice.
These other, non primary perspectives function both to establish Moby Dick as a novel with numerous
points of view and to clarify Ishmael s own particular point of view on certain subjects. For instance,
in The Ramadan Ishmael attempts to convince Queequeg of the ridiculous and ... Show more content

Ishmael speaks also, but his voice, perhaps because it is primary and spread throughout the vast, ocean
like novel, often seems the most muted, the least detectable. Yet Ishmael has a clear and distinct
perspective on religion that clearly and distinctly differs from the orthodox Christian perspective, from
Queegueg s, and from his tragic Captain Ahab s perspective. Making use of the perspectival structure
of the text, I aim to contrast Ishmael s unique religious perspective with these other implicit and
explicit perspectives set forth in the text, and by this contrasting to ascertain a definite understanding
of Ishmael s religion.
The voice of Christian orthodoxy speaks loudly in Moby Dick. Before one can consider this voice
properly, however, one must understand that Ishrnael is not a Christian in any orthodox sense of the
term. Ishmale twice states that, during the time of his sailing on the Pequod, he was a Christian. Early
in the novel he says quite plainly, I was a good Christian; born and bred in the bosom of the infallible
Presbyterian Church (57). Later in the novel, he refers to we good Presbyterian Christians (84).
Carfeul mediation on these passages and others will lead one to the conclusion that Ishmael is being
disingenuous when he refers to himself as a good Christian. It is obvious, first of all, that Ishmael is
being ironic and sarcastic in the passages quoted above, as the tone and the context of the passages
intimate. Note the

Screwtape wrote this in the book by C.S Lewis called The Screwtape Letters. In The Screwtape
Letters Screwtape writes to his nephew, Wormwood, and instructs him on the proper ways to tempt
their patient . Unfortunately, in the end C.S Lewis implies that Screwtape committed cannibalism and

Analysis Of The United States Is Responsible For A Film...
Bivariate Analysis
The United States is responsible for a film industry that is forever expanding and making a world of
difference to films being screened worldwide. Primarily there are two types of films that a studio will
choose to produce. The first being a blockbuster film which is defined as a very popular or successful,
usually big budget production. Blockbuster films are generically very popular with the public and
captivate the audience. The public become invested in these movies through the advertising of the film
and have a strong inclination to watch the film when they re released. Their intention as defined by
Wikipedia is to emphasize spectacle, star power, and high production value, all of which entail an
enormous budget (Wikipedia, 2015). The second type of film produced is an independent film
produced mostly or completely outside of the major film studio system. Whilst both films have
differing objectives and production techniques, they both share a common requirement; the ability to
make a profit from their effort. The overall expenditure of a film is usually split into creative and
technical costs which cover all bases of the costs involved with creating a film. It is therefore
considerably important for a film to earn ample profit in order to not only cover the cost involved with
creating the movie, but for a sizeable profit to be made.

Hrothgar In Beowulf
TV cameras have a knack for only picking up the good things world leaders do. These shots are meant
to paint someone like the US President in a positive light. It turns out even epics from Anglo Saxon
times would do everything they could to make their kings seem great and generous, but as with
everything else there is a side not seen by the public eye. In the epic of Beowulf a king named
Hrothgar is seen on the outside as the greatest and most generous king the land had ever seen, but on
the inside he is much more human. Hrothgar like all great leaders comes with many flaws. He is very
similar to current and past world leaders and brings a new meaning to the word great. Despite being
thought about in a positive light he certainly has his warts. These include his heavy drinking habit, a
lack of self control, and no desire whatsoever to be king of the Danes. ... Show more content on

The early cantos in the textual iteration of Beowulf describe Hrothgar of this great and generous king.
A whole column is used to describe his generous deeds, such as harboring Beowulf s father in his
darkest hour. There s one scene in particular in which the cantos depiction and the movie s depiction
are incredibly different. It comes when Hrothgar throws a party the night before Beowulf s battle with
Grendel. In the cantos Hrothgar seems to be in control and enjoying everyone s company, none more
so than his lovely wife Wealtheow. However in the film Hrothgar seems to be forcing himself upon his
wife, who doesn t seem to enjoy her marriage in the first place. During the films interpretation of the
party Hrothgar seems to be ridiculously intoxicated, slurring his speech and stumbling all around
Heorot. It is this drastic difference that makes a person realize that maybe Hrothgar is not as great as it
seems, but that s not

Case Study Of The Prince Charles And Princess Diana
Relationships between people are so delicate that require true attention, effort and fairness. According
to Jensen Newman (1998, p.173) partners are different in many ways such as brain functioning,
personalities, backgrounds, life experiences, family traditions and personal values. Nevertheless, the
two of them realizing and being who they are is the key aim of successful relationship. In my essay, I
explored the case study on the couple Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The case study identifies
two counselling approaches and proposes therapy plan of eight sessions, which I would suggest for
this couple. The case summarizing problems that currently exist for this couple and describes analyzes
approaches I have chosen for counselling this couple. Presenting problems Diana a Charles
relationship is in crisis, as they were unable work on the issues earlier. From my understanding, the
relationship issues between the couple are disconnection, lack of communication and infidelity on
both sides. The age difference between Diana and Charles is 12 years. Each of them carries some
unresolved personal issues, which has also impact on their relationship. Diana s parents divorced,
when she was young and raised by her father. She also suffered from bulimia and experienced post

Mesopotamian Civilizations
By looking in the past, us humans can learn about how we evolved as a species over time. Two of the
most studied civilizations are the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations. Even though each
civilization arose in different locations and time periods, both river system civilizations are mainly
similar regarding religion, art, writing, and architectural styles; except for a few slight differences that
are unique to each civilization. Both the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations were strongly
reliant on religion, and this led both civilizations to believe in a polytheistic religion system. The
Egyptian and Mesopotamian populations believed in many gods, and associated their gods with the
natural forces that existed around them. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the Egyptians are most commonly known for their large architectural projects which
required an enormous labor force. Some examples include the Three Pyramids at Giza, where Khufu,
Menkaure, and Khafre were buried, The Great Sphinx, and the Stepped Pyramid at Saqqara. Likewise,
the only Mesopotamian structure that can compare to the size of the pyramids is the ziggurat.
Significance wise, both were built for religious purposes, as the ziggurat is a place of worship and
pyramids were built to immortalize the kings. Both the Egyptians and Mesopotamians developed their
own forms of writing, Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform, respectively. Hieroglyphics is the more complex
of the two, consisting of pictograms, phonograms, and determinatives, and symbols can hold a variety
of meanings depending on the context of what is being written. When looking at art forms, you can
learn many things about societal order and hierarchy. For example, when looking at Egyptian
monolithic statues, you can see clear differences in social status just by structure and build of the
piece. Kings and important officials had their statue carved out of stone materials, like granite, while
lesser figures were carved in wood. Kings often had perfect physique in their sculptures, while scribes
often looked lethargic and naturalistic. More important figures even had a

Did Thomas Jefferson Abandon His Ethics for the Lousiana...
Did Thomas Jefferson give up his deeply held political values in order to purchase the Louisiana
Territory from the French (P. 2)? This is the major question that has led to much debate within the
early history of America (P. 1). Some historians argue that Thomas Jefferson did, in fact, throw away
his commitment to states rights and constructionism by the large purchase of Louisiana for the U.S.
(P.1). On the other hand, some believe that President Jefferson supported his political beliefs, the
fortification of the republican government, with the Louisiana Purchase (P. 1).

abandon his political ethics by purchasing the Louisiana Territory (P. 14). Balleck states that the
Louisiana Purchase was the greatest achievement of Thomas Jefferson s presidency (P. 14). With the
addition of the new territory to the United States, President Jefferson secured the nation for
generations, if not centuries to come (P. 14). Jefferson was confident that purchasing the Louisiana
Territory would encourage the development of an upright Republican populace (P. 14). Surprisingly,
he had many reservations about his authority to purchase Louisiana, but that did not stop him from
laying the treaty before Congress (P. 19). He also knew that, by purchasing Louisiana, the Federalists
power might be lost, but he still pushed forward with the treaty (P. 19). Although many historians
criticize President Jefferson for giving up his most visible political convictions by purchasing
Louisiana, he knew that it would double the size of the United States and ensure much land expansion
for the country (P. 20). He strongly believed that the new territory was essential to national security (P.

Empire of Liberty (P. 22). The Louisiana

Discuss The Arguments For The Rights And Privileges Of...
In this essay, I will be arguing for the rights and privileges of minority groups. I believe that special
privileges do not give minorities excessive benefits, and that these privileges also do not infringe upon
the rights or lifestyles of the majority. I will prove this through the examination of several aspects of
society and nation, including equality, nation building, and identity. These three characteristics of
multiculturalism and society will help evidence the justification of minority rights in the face of
opposing liberal majority interests. To establish the need for minority rights, the concept of
multiculturalism must first be understood. Kymlicka describes multiculturalism as an umbrella term
for the claims of these ethnocultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most people, identity is intimately tied into their cultural/religious backgrounds. When minorities
are denied recognition of their backgrounds for the sake of the majorities comfort, it denies minorities
their right to cultural or ethnic identities. Living in a society that has a mainstream culture contrary to
one s own lifestyle makes it difficult to embrace your own identity with pride, especially if that
society s government does not support your need for rights. As identity is so crucial in a person s good
life, it is unjust for a society to deny a person their right to celebrate the practices of their culture or
religion. Despite identity being considered a fairly basic right in modern society, it is also where most
of the issues surrounding minority rights occur. Giving a group of people the right to practice a
religion seems inherently just at first glance, however what happens if the groups beliefs conflict with
the liberal majority s concept of human rights? In instances where the beliefs of the minority directly
conflict with the goals of the state (to protect its citizens), I believe it is justifiable for the state to step
in on behalf of the child s wellbeing. These instances, despite being well known, are not as common as
one might think. It is easy to criminalize minorities for specific and rare instances of abuse, but overall
it is empirically provable that most minority groups only want special privileges in order to raise their
position in society to be equal. It is unusual for cases to be handled without precedents or established
systems, but in the case of multiculturalism I think that case to case examinations would be the most
effective way to police such crimes in minority groups. The fear that minorities may abuse any special
privileges they may be awarded does not justify the preemptive denial of

The Tell Tale Eye
It s true about the eyes being the window to the soul. Your face can be etched with worry, and twisted
by ageing, but the eyes tell the true story of who you are Naomie Harris The old proverb the eyes are
the windows to the soul is expanded on by Naomie Harris in a way that exemplarities the true
meaning of this proverb. When looking into a person s eyes it is much easier to perceive what is inside
them. This is identical to how windows work. It is far easier to see what is in the window when
looking directly into it versus looking indirectly in. Similarly, when peering into a window or a person

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Linocut
Linocut A block made of linoleum
Carving tools Paper fabrics
Linocut is a form of relief printing in which the artist cuts a design into the surface of the block. Then
a mirror image is created when the artist places a paper or fabric over the surface and presses down
with a hand or a roller. The raised parts of the piece transfer over on to the paper or fabric to create the
overall desired print. Linocut has both benefits and drawbacks as a form of printmaking. The major
benefit of this form of art is that it is softer than wood making it easier to carve and use. Another
benefit is that color can be added to the prints. However, there are several drawbacks of using linocut

The artist first coats the metal plate in an acid resistant substance known as ground and is drawn on.
The artist then uses a sharp tool or etching needle down to the plate. Hard grounds are employed for
finely detailed linear work. Soft ground can also be used, and virtually any tool can be used to expose
the plate and resembles crayon and pencil drawings (Sayre, 2012). Whichever ground is used by the
artist is then placed in an acid bath. The acid eats, or etches, into the plate where the lines have been
drawn; the longer the exposed plate is left in the bath, and the stronger the solution, the greater the
width and depth of the etched line (Sayre, 2012). An artist can also create a way in stopping out a
section by using varnishes or ground over the etched surface. Once the plate is finished being exposed
to acid, it is inked and printed. Etching has both benefits and drawbacks. Some of the benefits to
etching are that it is a fluid and free process and it is able to capture the sense of immediacy as a

Theme Of Nectar In A Sieve
Kamala Markandaya s Nectar in a Sieve as a Study of Language and Stylistic Innovation
Language is a means for an end and that end is literature. Literature moves in language as a medium,
but that medium comprises of two layers content and experience. The flamboyancy of the author s
state of mind is expressed by the style of writing used by the author. The linguists all over the world
come to a single opinion that if style is the man, the language used by the author represents the
entirety of his mind. As, language analyses the inner cores of human perspective, it is certainly has
connections with the facts of utterance to see the patterns of sound, grammar and vocabulary. For
analysing the properties of language, it is important to represent the concern of writer with the
revelation of inner mental facts and the inner properties of human psyche. Therefore, simplicity is the
hallmark of all the modern languages. The simple language has the ... Show more content on

The events in the novel parallel this theme quite closely. Symbolically, it refers either to the nectar of
life or the sieve of destruction i.e. drawing a parallel between the beauty and the misery of life.
Markandaya in the novel presented a cross section of the Indian society. It presented the three facets a
personal story, a wider conflict, and a social background. It is a saga of hunger, starvation, degradation
and death of poor people in India and is told by Rukmani who grows from a married girl of twelve ,
then a young wife and finally an old mother figure who loss almost everything in the process of her
growth yet retaining her fundamental loving and loveable nature, humanity and

Analysis Of Sweat And Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston
The point of view a story is told in has a significant impact on how the reader perceives the story, the
plot, and the characters. Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston, 1978, and Pigeons at Daybreak by Anita Desai,
1926, are both narrated in third person limited omniscient. Although both stories are narrated from the
same point of view and both follow the protagonist of the story, the stories portray the main characters
as complete opposites. While Delia, the protagonist in Sweat , invokes empathy from the reader, she
ultimately is strong and independent. Mr. Basu, the protagonist in Pigeons at Daybreak , invokes
frustration and pity from the reader as he is begging for sympathy from his wife.

In the story Pigeons at Daybreak the protagonist, Mr. Basu, is portrayed as a very ill man who uses his
illness to gain sympathy from his wife who is his sole caretaker. Although she does her best to take
care of him and provide him with everything he needs, Mr. Basu is continuously rude and
unappreciative toward her. As the story goes on, the narrator continues to portray Mr. Basu in a
negative light. For example, when Mrs. Basu reads the newspaper to her husband and he says, You can
t be reading right (Desai 221) assuming she is incapable of reading the newspaper, although she is
highly educated. Mr. Basu s negative attitude elicits a disapproving review from the reader.
Throughout the story, the reader is constantly reminded how self centered and selfish Mr. Basu is,
especially as Mrs. Basu begins blaming herself when he becomes overwhelmed and worried. The third
person limited omniscient perspective emphasizes the overall theme which is appreciating what others
are gifting you with rather than taking advantage of their generosity. It does so by creating a sense of
understanding of both Mr. Basu s frustration, and Mrs. Basu s patience. In contrast to Sweat , the third
person narrator in Pigeons at Daybreak invokes the reader to feel negatively toward the main
character, Mr. Basu, and

EJ Eaton Scholarship Analysis
What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your
goals. Henry David Thoreau. This quote demonstrates everything I wish to achieve while attending the
University of Tennessee at Martin. Through this school and the amazing music program, I plan to
become an even better leader, teacher, student, and trombone player. Having my work ethic, planning,
and determination I have made it this far and I do not plan to slow down any time soon. Due to my
accomplishments in my past and the limitless opportunities that lie ahead of me and that I strive for, I

Major Benefits Of Estate Planning Essay
Critical Element III. A Estate planning enables individuals and business owners to plan for the future
in cases when unforeseeable events occur. If an unforeseeable demise does occur, the business will
continue to thrive and business assets will be protected from creditor and government seizure. A few
of the more prominent benefits of estate planning include the following: succession planning, future
planning, and minimizing tax liability. All three benefits significantly correlate with one another since
deciding business successors lead to anticipated future success and figuring out what to do with future
assets in the present helps minimize future tax liability. By creating trusts, business owners can still
appreciate assets without the need to pay heavy taxes on the additional value. However, it is crucial to
understand that estate planning differs among business entities in terms of minimizing tax liability
(Agu 2016). A principle difference between the two business entities is how the business owners are
impacted by the tax liability. C Corporations are classified as being a separate taxable entity while
partnerships are flow through entities. As a separate taxable entity, C corporation business owners are
not responsible for paying taxes regarding to the business, but they are taxed on the shareholder
dividends; a concept otherwise known as double taxation. On the other hand, partnerships handle
taxes a little differently. The resulting operating income is

The Importance Of Self Confidence
Believing that you that you are unacceptable or unlikable socially can be painful. Lack of self
confidence can make you get afraid to interact socially. When in situations where you will be observed
by others or where you need to speak in front of a crowd or to strangers you might feel anxious. This
might cause you to act awkward. You might avoid eye contact and behave too cautiously. The idea that
you are socially unacceptable might get reinforced to you when you feel that other people react
strangely towards you.
As the result of the challenges you face you might end up avoiding social contact even though you
know being in social places and interacting with others is a big part of any persons life. We cannot
always avoid social situations in living our daily lives. You might get invited to parties where friends
are celebrating or by colleagues at work celebrating their birthdays. It is not always possible to avoid
interacting socially.
So how do you improve social self confidence when you do not have it? Before I tell you how, let me
start by telling a little story about a rat.
When you have a rat in the house that eats up your tomatoes and messes up your fruits. To catch it,
you would need to know how and when and where it operates. You would want to catch it when the
house is quite with a piece of cheese in the mouse trap or place a rat poison in places where the rat is
likely to hang around.
A similar approach is applicable to improving self confidence. You need to

Plates, when plates move earthquakes occur, and volcanoes activate. How would you feel if you

How do you think the Jalisco block feels? There are two types of plate boundaries that causes volcanic
and earthquake activity and as a scientist I was determined to find out. The boundary could be either
divergent or convergent. Divergent is when the boundary is moving the plates apart and soft, solid
rock will fill the gap forming a mid ocean ridge. A convergent boundary is when a plate boundary
brings plates closer to each other and create a trench. I think the cause of all this activity is caused by a
divergent boundary and I can prove it. Divergent movement of the Jalisco block away

Body Image Of Young Women In The Fashion Industry
The fashion industry
Under society s customs for decades, young women have been put under the pressure and anticipation
to have perfect bodies. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of makeup to their face
but not appear ridiculously overdone. Who s responsible for these standards imposed on young
women? When a young girl picks up the model along the cover of Vogue being called flawless, it s
easy for her to then aspire to be a real life imitation of the photocopy. These companies produce
magazine covers shown with girls images daily. As if keeping the perfect body wasn t hard enough our
culture also forces girls into the forever expanding world of composition, however, body image is a
surging subject for young women. Advertisements and pictures of lean female models are all over.
Girls are measured and perplexed by their physical appearances with attire intended to enhance a
facial expression; social media, magazines, the society, marketing campaigns and advertisements add
to a strain of excellence.
Young girls not only could be better but need to be more upright and feel driven to throw the perfect
figure. The fashion industry is a major target of body image issues, as they believe clothes look better
on tall and svelte women. Established on a survey participated by 13 to 17 year old in the U.S., 90%

Art of Love
The Art of Love
Framing for a Misogynist
The poetry of Ovid exemplified in The Art of Love is one of the only examples of the contemporary
social behavior exhibited during the time of Rome. Ovid writes about social activities, proper style,
women, and how to obtain them. Through Ovid s perspective, there are three different ways to
consider a woman. These three views include relating a woman to a game, a beautiful treasure, and as
a means to assert social status. Comparatively, Andreas Capellanus writes in a way that makes women
seem respected, worthy and as something to a man would willingly devote his life to. Both men have a
clear fascination with women and their relationship to men. However, their distinct writing styles
cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The view Ovid takes on women is not always clear. In some passages he has a violent perspective on
women. Ovid writes about how he easily could have taken advantage of women, displaying a negative
viewpoint of ownership towards females. Similarly he says never a virgin there was free from the lust
of a hand , which shows that men desire women, and a virgin is held as a high prize, one that is worth
committing the act of adultery for (Art 1. 89 126). On the other end, Capellanus views the trophy of
virginity as futile and counters that while you know some other man is enjoying the embraces of your
beloved, this will make you begin to value her solaces all the more (2.2, 3). Furthermore, he makes the
argument against adultery, again opposing the views of Ovid. Capellanus explains his argument in
detail by stating that a man in love is adorned with the virtue of chastity, because he who shines with
the light of one love can hardly think of embracing another woman, even a beautiful one (1.4, 2).
Contrary to many men who believe that a man must be strong and not show a woman his tenderness,
Ovid shares his heart, saying, do not think it a shame to suffer her blows or her curses; do not think it
a shame, stooping, to kiss her feet (Art 2. 522 553) . This is simply an outstanding statement, as it
serves to show the true emotion and character of Ovid. This statement cannot be taken lightly

Bowers V Hardwick Supreme Court Case Essay
Bowers v. Hardwick
United States Supreme Court Opinion
This case, Bowers v. Hardwick, originated when Michael Hardwick was targeted by a policer officer
for harassment in Georgia. A houseguest of Hardwick s let the officer into his home, where Hardwick
was found engaging in oral sex with his partner, who was another male. Michael Hardwick was
arrested and charged of sodomy. After charges were later dropped, Hardwick brought his case to the
Supreme Court to have the sodomy law declared unconstitutional. Justice White delivered the opinion
of the Court. Justice Burger, Powell, Rehnquist, and O Conner joined, filing concurring opinions. In

Hardwick relied on Stanley v. Georgia to affirm that the result should be different where homosexual
conduct occurs in the privacy of the home. Since Stanley v. Georgia had support from the first
amendment Hardwick thought he had another claim. However, as seen by Justice White, illegal
conduct is not always immunized when it happens inside the home. For example, possession and use
of illegal drugs, do not escape the law when committed at home. Since Justice White was unpersuaded
that the sodomy laws of the states should be invalidated based on the claims and he did not agree, the
judgment of the Court of Appeals is reversed. Chief Justice Burger and Justice Powell also shared the
same opinion, as Justice White read the opinion of the Court. Chief Justice Burger s view was that
there is no such thing as a fundamental right to commit homosexual sodomy in constitutional terms.
Although Chief Justice Burger had a concurring opinion with the Court, he went back in history to
support the laws against sodomy. Justice Burger talked about the condemnation of homosexual
practices is firmly rooted in Judeas Christian moral and ethical standards, and that homosexual
sodomy was a capital crime under Roman law. Justice Powell also joined the opinion of the Court.

The Persecution And Assassination Of Jean Paul Marat
In The Persecution and Assassination of Jean Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum
of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis De Sade, Peter Weiss placed a historic revolutionary
setting inside of a chaotic insane asylum. Sex and violence dominate revolution, madness blends with
reason, and political ideologies battle head to head while the plot unfolds. Marat/Sade focuses on a
play authored by the Marquis de Sade inside of the play itself. Weiss, writing in the voice of Sade,
could not ignore the sexual perversions of the historical figure, which allowed for the shocking
violence and sexualization that can be found within the play. Under the inflated political rhetoric
among the two leading ideologists, Jean Paul Marat and the Marquis de Sade, the story is one about
the French Revolution. Specifically, Marat/Sade tells the story of the murder of Marat by Charlotte
Corday.
Sade s characterization of Corday as the sexualized female begins with the Herald s introduction of
her. His description predominately includes her physical features. Her phenomenally pulchritudinous
appearance includes stylish shoes and a cloth around her neck. Only a thin veil covers her otherwise
exposed breasts. These images appear in the first introduction of Corday and create conflict for the
woman portraying her, as well as affect Sade s character of Corday in her carrying out of the plot to
kill Marat. However, the effect on the latter is not a negative one. The sexual

The groups (Church, Palace, Husbands) are chastised by Blake for their contractual interest in others,
but lack of responsible concern.
In lines three and four, the author begins to point out the visual evidences of society s spiritual
malaise. Blake uses the word mark several times to show the reader the problems he sees have
outward signs marks of weakness, marks of woe. In stanza two, Blake leaves the visible evidence for
the audible evidence, and we begin to hear the groans of a fallen world. Man and infant cry one in
experience, one in innocence yet, both in a fallen world, both raising a pained voice. From line three
on, the poem is filled with mournful, weary, destructive sounds the pounding out of the mind forg d
manacles ; the sad weep! weep! of the chimney sweeper (Blake 33); the dying soldier s sigh; the harlot
s explosive, withering curse. All of these sounds contribute to the picture of society reeling in the
deadly stages of metastasizing cancer.
Repetition is at its most concentrated use in stanza two where the word every is used five times (seven
times overall in the poem). Blake certainly wants the reader to know that the signs of oppression and
slavery are everywhere and on every face no one is exempt.
In line seven, Blake again skillfully uses a word with multiple meanings. Ban can be a curse,
condemnation, marriage proclamation, or young French soldier. As a

Analysis Of Famine, Affluence And Morality By Peter Singer
In November 1971, Peter Singer composed his essay Famine, Affluence and Morality in regards to
famine in East Bengal (now East Pakistan). He stated that people were suffering and dying due to lack
of food resources, shelter, clothing, and medical assistance. This and many other factors such as civil
war, and natural disaster have turned approximately nine million people into insolvent refugees
(Singer, 229). Though there seemed to be some institutions and private or public organizations that
were capable of helping the refugees, there were no sufficient funds. Peter Singer argues that
individuals from wealthy countries like the Western World are morally ought to help. Unfortunately,
people have not made any significant response to such situation. ... Show more content on

this case, the only risk for that person is to have his clothes muddy (Singer 231). But how can tell that
we are morally required to do such act? What if that person who happens to be walking past by that
pond has a very important interview and he cannot risk having his formal clothes get muddy because
there will be no chance that he ll get accepted for the job? An objection that can be used against this
principle is Rahul Kumar s mutual aid # 2 which states that A person must do what is necessary to
prevent a significant loss to someone else when she can do so at much less significant cost to herself
(Kumar 299). In one of his examples, he illustrated Geoff as a world renowned experimental
psychologist, who has a deserved reputation for his skill as a critic (Kumar, 299). Geoff only needs to
exert little effort to read and comment on young psychologists papers. His comments on their papers
can radically improve its quality. In this case, if we apply Singer s second promise then Geoff is
obligated to comment on all research

He doesn t know what to do anymore. He feels lost. All of a sudden he hears a loud cry in the distance
that sounds like a screaming banshee. He stops crying and starts wiping the tears from his face. He
looks across the misty marsh and sees a ghoulish figure rising from the mist. It begins to scream like a
banshee forcing CHARLIE to his knees, covering his ears from the loud blaring sound. The ghoulish
figure then seems to fly directly towards CHARLIE to attack him causing to scream in fear. But
suddenly, it vanishes right before his eyes. He begins to cry again. CHARLIE (crying) I want to go
home. I want to go home. CHARLIE screams again staring into the night sky. CHARLIE (screaming)
What do you want from me?! CHARLIE instantly covers his ears as the screaming banshee sounds
have returned but only louder. He looks across the mist only now to see multiple ghoulish figures
rising. One by one they all fly directly towards him, screaming and vanishing into thin air. We see this
from CHARLIE S POV for a few moments. CHARLIE falls to the grass. CHARLIE (crying) Leave
me alone! CHARLIE is lying defenseless on the grass as these ghoulish figures appear one by one,
until there is no more. CHARLIE is catatonic, he cannot move. FADE TO

My Best Friend In My Life
Everyone has that best friend they believe they will have forever, they plan out their future together,
but that can all come crashing down. That is what happened with Jason James and I. Jason was once
my best friend, practically a brother, we did everything together. I was always there for him, in the
times when he needed someone the most. Jason James suffered from depression, like me. Because I
knew exactly what he was going through, we became close. But there was always something off about
our friendship. It was always about him. One day I got a text from Jason saying he needed to get out
of the house and just talk. I, of course, sprang to action. I picked him up and we got ice cream and
talked. I let him talk through what was going on, and gave him the advice he needed. Then a couple
days later I was having a rough day, and I just wanted someone to talk to, I texted Jason hoping he
could help. He said he would come over, and be with me. But when he got there all he did was talk
about him. Everything I would say he would turn it around and make it about him. Although this did
not happen all the time, it did most often. Jason James was a negative influence on my life because our
friendship was only about him, he blamed me for every problem he faced, and he never truly cared.
My friendship with Jason James was always centered around him. I was the one who was constantly
there for him when he needed me. With our friendship I could tell when he was upset or needed

Weekly meetings among division heads to discuss operational predicaments and setbacks are an
example of an internal objective that may possibly be implemented for the benefit of the organization
(Recruitment goals for seasonal staff are an example of an external objective of a company). By
following this course of action, it becomes possible to determine the changes that need to take place
within the organization by reviewing the business plans, goals, missions and objectives and it is the
initial step towards building a fresh organization structure. In addition, it would be beneficial if the
organization uses a wide span of control within the company. This basically means that every
department head is expected to report to the general manager which in turns ensures a well organized
chain of command in the company s structure. As the organization grows the number of divisional
managers increase, as does it result in a lengthier chain of command, but by implementing a system of
wide span control within the company there would undoubtedly be efficient organization within the
company. It is also very important that the various departments within the organization s
responsibilities are clearly defined. Since the organization Asos.com is an online fashion store, high
quality customer service is primarily very essential. In order to ensure customer satisfaction, it would

Police Officers Shift Essay
Falling asleep at the wheel isn t the only hazard posed by tired police. Compared with well rested
colleagues, officers who met the criteria for a sleep disorder were more likely to make serious
administrative or safety errors and exhibit uncontrolled anger toward suspects (Harding, 2011). Sleep
problems had a noticeable impact on the officer s work. Eighteen percent of officers who were
screened positive for a sleep disorder reported making serious administrative errors, versus 13% of
those without a sleep disorder, while 24% made other errors or safety violations attributable to fatigue.
Also, 34% percent of officers with a sleep disorder reported losing their temper with civilians,
compared with 29% of those without a disorder (Kohansieh, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The vast majority of police officers work a variety of shift schedules. Traditional police organizations
separate each day or 24 hour period into three tours also called shifts, watches or platoons (Dempsey
Forst, 2005). Some police agencies employ the traditional 8 hour shift, while others engage a 10 hour
shift or a 12 hour shift has been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular and sleep
disorders, attributable to its propensity for circadian rhythm dysfunction. Police officers have been
shown to exhibit an increased prevalence of fatigue, which may predispose them to greater frequency
of accidents and workplace injuries (Elliot, 2016, p. 13). Concerns have been raised over extended
work hour, specifically the deleterious effects upon health and sleep quality that may potentiate fatigue
and sleepiness. Despite being used synonymously, due to symptomatic similarities, sleepiness and
fatigue have been found to be distinct and will compromise an individual s performance. The
suggested ergonomic and social benefits not withstanding shiftwork has

St. Thomas Aquinas And The Theological Principles Of Faith
Better to illuminate than merely to shine, to deliver to others contemplated truths than merely to
contemplate is a famous quote by St. Thomas Aquinas. It mentions how giving others the full truth
about what they believe in is the best way for others to be willing members of a particular group. St.
Thomas Aquinas always believed that there is nothing more sincere than the truth. It was always
important to him to make sure everything he said was honest, especially speaking about the Lord so it
wouldn t be considered heresy. As Aquinas grew older and older, he started to learn more in depth on
why honesty needs to be demonstrated more in the world. This was particularly important to him
because he was trying to combine the theological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was later transferred to the stadium gernale in Naples, until he eventually went to study at the
University of Paris. At the university, he met John of St. Julian, a Dominican preacher, who influenced
him to join the recently founded Dominican Order (St. Thomas Aquinas, Britannica). When Thomas
family learned of his decision, his mother Theodora arranged for him to be moved to Paris. Though
while he was traveling, a catastrophe happened. While Thomas was travelling to Rome, his brothers
kidnapped him and returned him to their parents at the castle of Monte San Giovanni Campano. His
family did not want him to become a Dominican, so he was held captive in the castle for one year. In
the year he was held, Thomas was brutal to his sisters and secretly communicated with members of
the Dominican Order. In addition to his kidnapping, two angels appeared to him in a dream and
strengthened his resolve to remain chaste while he was in horror. When Thomas mother realized she
could not persuade her son to stop joining, she tried to maintain the family name by making a plan for
him to escape through a window. Following his escape in 1244, Thomas turned to Naples, then to
Rome and met the Master General of the Dominican Order, Johannes von Wildeshausen. The next
year, Thomas went to study at the Faculty of the Arts at the University of Paris, where he met

The Culinary World Of Culinary Arts Burning sherbets, instantly frozen ice cream, pasta made out of jelly or vegetables, edible menus, kitchens with sonicators, pH meters, liquid nitrogen, which can flash freeze almost anything, makes it feel almost like magic or something out of a fantasy or science fiction novel. But it is not, in fact it is part of culinary arts, where innovation has taken wings, and revolutionized the art and science of cooking. Terms like culinary science, culinology and molecular gastronomy have become part of the innovative culinary world. Innovation is communicated and translated into culinary arts, especially by chefs and others involved in the industry through creative adaptations, like molecular gastronomy, culinology, fusions, transformations, co creation etc. Innovation spans through different areas of the culinary world and is not only limited to the process of cooking, but also to understand the consumers, as well as to develop different utensils and incorporate other means of technology. (Várela, 2013) In the world of innovative culinary arts, culinology, a term coined by Winston Riley, founder and former president of the Research Chefs Association (RCA), is considered as the approach to food, that blends culinary arts and food technology in an effort to make food better, safer and more consistent. (Tenbergen, 2009) It often translates ideas from fine dining or traditional ethnic cuisine to chain restaurant dishes or processed food. It was evolution of a new process and ... • 4. Jackson Pollock s Full Fathom Five Jackson Pollock s painting titled Full Fathom Five reveals black and silver splatters of paint that aren t necessarily straight. His painting includes colors such as blue, black, white and even specks of orange. In addition, there are no figures which can be easily deciphered and the paint seems to have been spilled all over the canvas. Thus, the painting does not display calculation or a heavy use of logic. Instead, his creation seems to thrive off creativity and disorder. So I ask, how do we make sense of such an unreasonable painting? The answer can be found within the philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche introduces to readers both the Apollonian force and the Dionysian force is his book The Birth of Tragedy. To be specific, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under these circumstances, Jackson Pollock s painting has a sense of musicality to it that adds onto the creative disorder. That is to say that his irrational paint splatters are almost rhythmic in the way they were splattered onto the canvas. Friedrich Nietzsche believes that this rhythm is very significant since it only occurs under the influence of the Dionysian force. This can be seen in the quote: The essence of nature is now to be expressed symbolically...not the mere symbolism of the lips, face, and speech but the whole pantomime of dancing, forcing every member into rhythmic movement, Then the other symbolic powers suddenly press forward, particularly those of music, in rhythmics, dynamics, and harmony (Cahn and Meskin 225). Nietzsche s quote tells us how the Dionysian force causes a dancer to exude harmony and rhythm. As dancers under the Dionysian influence would all dance together in unison, the paint splatters dance across the canvas in a way that makes it all come together. For this reason, when looking at Full Fathom Five, the paint starts to resemble musical dance rather than images or lines. However, Pollock s painting not only features motions similar to the the art of dance. Full Fathom Five is essentially a grand mystery of indiscernible images coexisting among one another. • 5. The Asbjectages And Disadvantages Of Simulation benefits and limitations. A review of the literature indicated that no academic exercise has been undertaken to assess the full potential of simulation tools either in the design and manufacture of airframes or any other industrial sector. Therefore, it is vital to assess the role of simulation tools throughout the product life cycle and define the best use of these tools within selected areas. There are a number of US companies that are leading the way forward through full corporate investment, time and collaboration partnership (simulation vendors) in developing simulation as an integral element in their company. • 7. Perspective on Religion Herman Melville s Moby-Dick Essay Perspective on Religion Herman Melville s Moby Dick A cornerstone of the philosophical and narrative substructure of Herman Melville s Moby Dick is point of view, or perspective. The textually primary point of view in the novel is Ishmael s, since he is the narrator of the story. However, Ishmael relates his story in such a way that one can easily detect numerous other voices, or other perspectives, in the story, which often oppose the narrator s voice. These other, non primary perspectives function both to establish Moby Dick as a novel with numerous points of view and to clarify Ishmael s own particular point of view on certain subjects. For instance, in The Ramadan Ishmael attempts to convince Queequeg of the ridiculous and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ishmael speaks also, but his voice, perhaps because it is primary and spread throughout the vast, ocean like novel, often seems the most muted, the least detectable. Yet Ishmael has a clear and distinct perspective on religion that clearly and distinctly differs from the orthodox Christian perspective, from Queegueg s, and from his tragic Captain Ahab s perspective. Making use of the perspectival structure of the text, I aim to contrast Ishmael s unique religious perspective with these other implicit and explicit perspectives set forth in the text, and by this contrasting to ascertain a definite understanding of Ishmael s religion. The voice of Christian orthodoxy speaks loudly in Moby Dick. Before one can consider this voice properly, however, one must understand that Ishrnael is not a Christian in any orthodox sense of the term. Ishmale twice states that, during the time of his sailing on the Pequod, he was a Christian. Early in the novel he says quite plainly, I was a good Christian; born and bred in the bosom of the infallible Presbyterian Church (57). Later in the novel, he refers to we good Presbyterian Christians (84). Carfeul mediation on these passages and others will lead one to the conclusion that Ishmael is being disingenuous when he refers to himself as a good Christian. It is obvious, first of all, that Ishmael is being ironic and sarcastic in the passages quoted above, as the tone and the context of the passages intimate. Note the ... • 11. Analysis Of The United States Is Responsible For A Film... Bivariate Analysis The United States is responsible for a film industry that is forever expanding and making a world of difference to films being screened worldwide. Primarily there are two types of films that a studio will choose to produce. The first being a blockbuster film which is defined as a very popular or successful, usually big budget production. Blockbuster films are generically very popular with the public and captivate the audience. The public become invested in these movies through the advertising of the film and have a strong inclination to watch the film when they re released. Their intention as defined by Wikipedia is to emphasize spectacle, star power, and high production value, all of which entail an enormous budget (Wikipedia, 2015). The second type of film produced is an independent film produced mostly or completely outside of the major film studio system. Whilst both films have differing objectives and production techniques, they both share a common requirement; the ability to make a profit from their effort. The overall expenditure of a film is usually split into creative and technical costs which cover all bases of the costs involved with creating a film. It is therefore considerably important for a film to earn ample profit in order to not only cover the cost involved with creating the movie, but for a sizeable profit to be made. The data my investigation is based around, is retrieved from The Internet Movie Database (IMDb). The information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It turns out even epics from Anglo Saxon times would do everything they could to make their kings seem great and generous, but as with everything else there is a side not seen by the public eye. In the epic of Beowulf a king named Hrothgar is seen on the outside as the greatest and most generous king the land had ever seen, but on the inside he is much more human. Hrothgar like all great leaders comes with many flaws. He is very similar to current and past world leaders and brings a new meaning to the word great. Likewise, the only Mesopotamian structure that can compare to the size of the pyramids is the ziggurat. Significance wise, both were built for religious purposes, as the ziggurat is a place of worship and pyramids were built to immortalize the kings. Both the Egyptians and Mesopotamians developed their own forms of writing, Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform, respectively. Hieroglyphics is the more complex of the two, consisting of pictograms, phonograms, and determinatives, and symbols can hold a variety of meanings depending on the context of what is being written. This is the major question that has led to much debate within the early history of America (P. 1). Some historians argue that Thomas Jefferson did, in fact, throw away his commitment to states rights and constructionism by the large purchase of Louisiana for the U.S. (P.1). On the other hand, some believe that President Jefferson supported his political beliefs, the fortification of the republican government, with the Louisiana Purchase (P. 1). David A. With the addition of the new territory to the United States, President Jefferson secured the nation for generations, if not centuries to come (P. 14). Jefferson was confident that purchasing the Louisiana Territory would encourage the development of an upright Republican populace (P. 14). Surprisingly, he had many reservations about his authority to purchase Louisiana, but that did not stop him from laying the treaty before Congress (P. 19). He also knew that, by purchasing Louisiana, the Federalists power might be lost, but he still pushed forward with the treaty (P. 19). • 17. Discuss The Arguments For The Rights And Privileges Of... In this essay, I will be arguing for the rights and privileges of minority groups. I believe that special privileges do not give minorities excessive benefits, and that these privileges also do not infringe upon the rights or lifestyles of the majority. I will prove this through the examination of several aspects of society and nation, including equality, nation building, and identity. These three characteristics of multiculturalism and society will help evidence the justification of minority rights in the face of opposing liberal majority interests. To establish the need for minority rights, the concept of multiculturalism must first be understood. Kymlicka describes multiculturalism as an umbrella term for the claims of these ethnocultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For most people, identity is intimately tied into their cultural/religious backgrounds. When minorities are denied recognition of their backgrounds for the sake of the majorities comfort, it denies minorities their right to cultural or ethnic identities. Living in a society that has a mainstream culture contrary to one s own lifestyle makes it difficult to embrace your own identity with pride, especially if that society s government does not support your need for rights. As identity is so crucial in a person s good life, it is unjust for a society to deny a person their right to celebrate the practices of their culture or religion. Despite identity being considered a fairly basic right in modern society, it is also where most of the issues surrounding minority rights occur. Giving a group of people the right to practice a religion seems inherently just at first glance, however what happens if the groups beliefs conflict with the liberal majority s concept of human rights? In instances where the beliefs of the minority directly conflict with the goals of the state (to protect its citizens), I believe it is justifiable for the state to step in on behalf of the child s wellbeing. These instances, despite being well known, are not as common as one might think. It is easy to criminalize minorities for specific and rare instances of abuse, but overall it is empirically provable that most minority groups only want special privileges in order to raise their position in society to be equal. It is unusual for cases to be handled without precedents or established systems, but in the case of multiculturalism I think that case to case examinations would be the most effective way to police such crimes in minority groups. The fear that minorities may abuse any special privileges they may be awarded does not justify the preemptive denial of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The flamboyancy of the author s state of mind is expressed by the style of writing used by the author. The linguists all over the world come to a single opinion that if style is the man, the language used by the author represents the entirety of his mind. As, language analyses the inner cores of human perspective, it is certainly has connections with the facts of utterance to see the patterns of sound, grammar and vocabulary. For analysing the properties of language, it is important to represent the concern of writer with the revelation of inner mental facts and the inner properties of human psyche. • 24. Analysis Of Sweat And Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston The point of view a story is told in has a significant impact on how the reader perceives the story, the plot, and the characters. Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston, 1978, and Pigeons at Daybreak by Anita Desai, 1926, are both narrated in third person limited omniscient. Although both stories are narrated from the same point of view and both follow the protagonist of the story, the stories portray the main characters as complete opposites. While Delia, the protagonist in Sweat , invokes empathy from the reader, she ultimately is strong and independent. Mr. Basu, the protagonist in Pigeons at Daybreak , invokes frustration and pity from the reader as he is begging for sympathy from his wife. Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston is a story of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the story Pigeons at Daybreak the protagonist, Mr. Basu, is portrayed as a very ill man who uses his illness to gain sympathy from his wife who is his sole caretaker. Although she does her best to take care of him and provide him with everything he needs, Mr. Basu is continuously rude and unappreciative toward her. As the story goes on, the narrator continues to portray Mr. Basu in a negative light. For example, when Mrs. Basu reads the newspaper to her husband and he says, You can t be reading right (Desai 221) assuming she is incapable of reading the newspaper, although she is highly educated. Mr. Basu s negative attitude elicits a disapproving review from the reader. Throughout the story, the reader is constantly reminded how self centered and selfish Mr. Basu is, especially as Mrs. Basu begins blaming herself when he becomes overwhelmed and worried. The third person limited omniscient perspective emphasizes the overall theme which is appreciating what others are gifting you with rather than taking advantage of their generosity. It does so by creating a sense of understanding of both Mr. Basu s frustration, and Mrs. Basu s patience. In contrast to Sweat , the third person narrator in Pigeons at Daybreak invokes the reader to feel negatively toward the main character, Mr. Basu, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Major Benefits Of Estate Planning Essay Critical Element III. A Estate planning enables individuals and business owners to plan for the future in cases when unforeseeable events occur. If an unforeseeable demise does occur, the business will continue to thrive and business assets will be protected from creditor and government seizure. A few of the more prominent benefits of estate planning include the following: succession planning, future planning, and minimizing tax liability. All three benefits significantly correlate with one another since deciding business successors lead to anticipated future success and figuring out what to do with future assets in the present helps minimize future tax liability. By creating trusts, business owners can still appreciate assets without the need to pay heavy taxes on the additional value. However, it is crucial to understand that estate planning differs among business entities in terms of minimizing tax liability (Agu 2016). A principle difference between the two business entities is how the business owners are impacted by the tax liability. C Corporations are classified as being a separate taxable entity while partnerships are flow through entities. As a separate taxable entity, C corporation business owners are not responsible for paying taxes regarding to the business, but they are taxed on the shareholder dividends; a concept otherwise known as double taxation. On the other hand, partnerships handle taxes a little differently. The resulting operating income is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When in situations where you will be observed by others or where you need to speak in front of a crowd or to strangers you might feel anxious. This might cause you to act awkward. You might avoid eye contact and behave too cautiously. The idea that you are socially unacceptable might get reinforced to you when you feel that other people react strangely towards you. As the result of the challenges you face you might end up avoiding social contact even though you know being in social places and interacting with others is a big part of any persons life. We cannot always avoid social situations in living our daily lives. You might get invited to parties where friends are celebrating or by colleagues at work celebrating their birthdays. It is not always possible to avoid interacting socially. So how do you improve social self confidence when you do not have it? Before I tell you how, let me start by telling a little story about a rat. When you have a rat in the house that eats up your tomatoes and messes up your fruits. To catch it, you would need to know how and when and where it operates. You would want to catch it when the house is quite with a piece of cheese in the mouse trap or place a rat poison in places where the rat is likely to hang around. Divergent is when the boundary is moving the plates apart and soft, solid rock will fill the gap forming a mid ocean ridge. That is, thin and curved, beautified by applying pounds of makeup to their face but not appear ridiculously overdone. Who s responsible for these standards imposed on young women? When a young girl picks up the model along the cover of Vogue being called flawless, it s easy for her to then aspire to be a real life imitation of the photocopy. Art of Love The Art of Love Framing for a Misogynist The poetry of Ovid exemplified in The Art of Love is one of the only examples of the contemporary social behavior exhibited during the time of Rome. Ovid writes about social activities, proper style, women, and how to obtain them. Through Ovid s perspective, there are three different ways to consider a woman. These three views include relating a woman to a game, a beautiful treasure, and as a means to assert social status. Comparatively, Andreas Capellanus writes in a way that makes women seem respected, worthy and as something to a man would willingly devote his life to. The view Ovid takes on women is not always clear. In some passages he has a violent perspective on women. Ovid writes about how he easily could have taken advantage of women, displaying a negative viewpoint of ownership towards females. Similarly he says never a virgin there was free from the lust of a hand , which shows that men desire women, and a virgin is held as a high prize, one that is worth committing the act of adultery for (Art 1. 89 126). On the other end, Capellanus views the trophy of virginity as futile and counters that while you know some other man is enjoying the embraces of your beloved, this will make you begin to value her solaces all the more (2.2, 3). Furthermore, he makes the argument against adultery, again opposing the views of Ovid. Capellanus explains his argument in detail by stating that a man in love is adorned with the virtue of chastity, because he who shines with the light of one love can hardly think of embracing another woman, even a beautiful one (1.4, 2). Contrary to many men who believe that a man must be strong and not show a woman his tenderness, Ovid shares his heart, saying, do not think it a shame to suffer her blows or her curses; do not think it a shame, stooping, to kiss her feet (Art 2. 522 553) . This is simply an outstanding statement, as it serves to show the true emotion and character of Ovid. This statement cannot be taken lightly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sex and violence dominate revolution, madness blends with reason, and political ideologies battle head to head while the plot unfolds. Marat/Sade focuses on a play authored by the Marquis de Sade inside of the play itself. Weiss, writing in the voice of Sade, could not ignore the sexual perversions of the historical figure, which allowed for the shocking violence and sexualization that can be found within the play. Under the inflated political rhetoric among the two leading ideologists, Jean Paul Marat and the Marquis de Sade, the story is one about the French Revolution. Specifically, Marat/Sade tells the story of the murder of Marat by Charlotte Corday. Sade s characterization of Corday as the sexualized female begins with the Herald s introduction of her. His description predominately includes her physical features. Her phenomenally pulchritudinous appearance includes stylish shoes and a cloth around her neck. Only a thin veil covers her otherwise exposed breasts. This and many other factors such as civil war, and natural disaster have turned approximately nine million people into insolvent refugees (Singer, 229). • 47. My Best Friend In My Life Everyone has that best friend they believe they will have forever, they plan out their future together, but that can all come crashing down. That is what happened with Jason James and I. Jason was once my best friend, practically a brother, we did everything together. I was always there for him, in the times when he needed someone the most. Jason James suffered from depression, like me. Because I knew exactly what he was going through, we became close. But there was always something off about our friendship. It was always about him. One day I got a text from Jason saying he needed to get out of the house and just talk. I, of course, sprang to action. I picked him up and we got ice cream and talked. I let him talk through what was going on, and gave him the advice he needed. Then a couple days later I was having a rough day, and I just wanted someone to talk to, I texted Jason hoping he could help. He said he would come over, and be with me. But when he got there all he did was talk about him. Everything I would say he would turn it around and make it about him. Although this did not happen all the time, it did most often. Jason James was a negative influence on my life because our friendship was only about him, he blamed me for every problem he faced, and he never truly cared. My friendship with Jason James was always centered around him. I was the one who was constantly there for him when he needed me. With our friendship I could tell when he was upset or needed someone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. St. Thomas Aquinas And The Theological Principles Of Faith Better to illuminate than merely to shine, to deliver to others contemplated truths than merely to contemplate is a famous quote by St. Thomas Aquinas. It mentions how giving others the full truth about what they believe in is the best way for others to be willing members of a particular group. St. Thomas Aquinas always believed that there is nothing more sincere than the truth. It was always important to him to make sure everything he said was honest, especially speaking about the Lord so it wouldn t be considered heresy.
