Keeping The Driving Age Essay
Driving is a daily activity to those of age and to some, it is a basic necessity to their lives. When
turning 16 years old is when most people begin driving, but keeping the driving age at 16 causes
accidents and deaths, rather than raising the driving age and making the road a safer place. If a parent
had a choice between their child dying or having an inconvenience of driving them around, hopefully,
they would choose having an inconvenience. Imagine a teen is driving with other underage teens in
the car 20 to 30 miles per hour over the speed limit.
Teenage brain development is at a vulnerable state and is not fully developed causing poor judgment
and bad decisions. New findings from brain researchers at the National Institutes of Health explain
that the part of the teenage brain called the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is the part that weighs risks,
makes judgments, and controls impulsive behavior (Davis). This part of the brain causes the reckless
teen driver s actions and accidents. The National Institutes of Health have analyzed 4,000 brain scans
from 2,000 to document how brains evolve as children mature and has shown ... Show more content

Parents have had to drive their children around since their kids were born, taking them to school,
sports, and extracurricular activities. Parents are tired of constantly having to chauffeur their kids
around (Davis). Now that their teens are old enough to drive, the 16 year can run errands for the
parents. However, what is more important to the parents, the inconvenience of them having to drive
their teens everywhere or their child s safety? To most parents, their children s safety is the number
one priority and many do not realize the risks of teen driving. For example, Kathy Schaefer and
Melissa Herberz, mothers of two crash victims had no idea of the odds of their only daughters were

Everest Emergency Essay
Friday morning of April the 18th,The whole earth shook and a loud roar filled the morning sky. From
the distance, the gust of wind chill and the news of around 200 mountaineers sunk below the
avalanche gave the cold chill along my spine. It had only been three weeks that I started working for
Everest ER, a clinic operated at 17400 ft in the Himalayas. Our logistics manager told our medical
team that he saw a massive avalanche falling on the queue of around two hundred Sherpa porters, who
were carrying loads to Camp One at 19680 ft.Without having any time to soak in the news of the
disaster, we immediately started our preparation to receive the casualties. We had no idea about the
types of injuries and the number of peopIe affected. Even worse, we feared that the deaths could be
much higher. Our team of doctors, paramedics and trained rescuers present on the Base Camp worked
in a coordinated fashion. After 12 long hours between helicopter rescues and ... Show more content on

We offered our condolences and sympathy to the traumatized Sherpa community that evening.
Looking back at the whole event, I must admit that I was not fully prepared to handle that situation.
However, the experiences of having completed a Diploma in Mountain Medicine two months before
the disaster, the experience of successfully conducting a high altitude pilgrimage health camp in the
past, and also the experience of my training in the largest level one trauma center and teaching

The 1920 s
The 1920 s were a difficult time for those in the agriculture industry. It was a time of industrialization,
however the farmers were unable to keep up. Furthermore this caused new laws to be made and old
laws to be vetoed. Farmers were unable to repay their debts and were put out of business. This caused
a decline in the goods being both imported and exported. This led to the great depression that began in
1929.
The 1920 s was a time of change and industrialization for America. During this time the agriculture
industry was both growing with new technologies, but declining the amount of sustainable farmers.
They were expected to industrialize their farms buying new expensive equipment, that forced them out
of business.During this time the farmers were having problems paying off their crops, and were
getting loans for short periods of time. They were also in high hopes of the government finding a way

The McCumber act of 1922 dramatically raised the price of tariffs, making it hard for european
countries to pay off their war debt (para 7 of Fordney McCumber Tariff). This act was made to
increase the amount of income that the United States would receive as a whole, because of the
agricultural decline in America the entire world is under distress. This act failed 7 years later in 1929.
In 1928 president coolidge vetoed the McNary Haugen Bill This was the law that allowed the
government to sell the farmers surplus to outside countries at world price(Adler, pg. 568). This was
the government s attempt to help the farmers in any way possible. This crisis had not only affected the
farmers and their families, but the entire world. Without the farmers ability to produce goods for
consumers, there would be no exporting goods, only the importation of goods, causing a major
economic decline. The veto of this bill helped keep all surplus goods inside the United States to lower
the costs of importing

Lizzie Borden Murders
For the past century, the Murders of Andrew J. Borden and his wife Abby Borden became one of
America s obsessions. From the towns people of Fall River Massachusetts to the rest of the country,
the Borden murders became the topic of interest. The case shocked the nation as Lizzie Borden a 32
year old school teacher was put on trial for the murders of her parents.
On August 4, 1892, at 92 Second Street Fall River Massachusetts, Andrew Borden and Abby Borden
were found murdered in their homes. Andrew Borden, the richest man in Fall River, was found dead
by his daughter Lizzie Borden, on a couch in the sitting area. Lizzie called to the household maid,
Bridget Sullivan, to come down from the attic to inform her that Mr. Borden was dead. ... Show more

During Dr. Bowen s autopsy, Mrs. Borden revealed to have been hit nineteen times, killed by the same
hatchet or ax that had killed Mr. Borden, who was hit eleven times. Mrs. Borden s blood had started to
get dark and congeal, showing Dr. Bowen that she was killed before Mr. Borden.
Over the weeks following the murders, investigators made a timeline from August 3rd, the day before
the murders, to August 7th, the day Miss Russell had seen Lizzie burning a dress. On August third
Abby Borden had gone to see Dr. Bowen, claiming she and Mr. Borden had been poisoned because
both of them had been violently ill the night before. Not thinking her nausea was severe he sent her
home. When Dr. Bowen went to check on his neighbors, Mr. Borden told him he wasn t ill and to
leave because he wasn t going to pay for the house call; Bridget was also sick that same morning,
however, there was no poisons found in the Borden s autopsies. Also, that same day, Lizzie had tried
to buy Prussic acid from the drug store, but without a prescription the clerk wouldn t sell it to her.
Later in the afternoon on August 3rd Lizzie s uncle, John Morse had arrived, only planning on
spending the night; Lizzie claimed to have went straight to bed that night and never saw her uncle.
Then on august fourth, the day of the murders, Bridget woke at 6:15 to start her daily chores, Mr. and
Mrs. Borden woke at seven and had their breakfast. At 8:45 Uncle John left; Lizzie came downstairs a

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DSM IV TR and DSM V
Introduction
DSM IV TR was published in the year 2000, it was a text revision of previous version DSM IV.
Majority of the specific areas under diagnosis remain unchanged. Some extra information were added
on diagnosis. The DSM IV TR was organised into five part axial system. The first axis contains
clinical disorders, second axis contains intellectual disabilities and personality disorders. The
remaining axis covered social, environmental factors etc. Through out the history of the DSM , it s
authors have debated a number of complex issues, including the theoretical basis of the classification
system. Each edition of the manual has represented thousands of hours of discussion among experts in

For the children Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder has been modified somewhat, especially to
emphasize that this disorder can continue into adulthood. The one change is that you can be diagnosed
with ADHD even when you are an adult .This also weakens the criteria marginally for adults, but due
to this the criteria is also strengthened at the same time. In the DSM IV TR if you were grieving the
loss of a loved one, we can t diagnose the person with major depressive disorder. This exclusion was
removed in the DSM 5. They gave the following reasons: The first is to remove the implication that

Analysis Of Edward Snowden s Information Leaks
In a society centered on an ever growing technological bloom, the standards for security have been
placed very high to protect citizens from cyber attacks and wrong doing. However, some of the steps
that have been taken pushed the limits to what is lawful. Very little reforms have been made even with
recent public awareness to the problem. The steps taken make the US government surveillance
programs contradict with the constitutional rights of the American people. This essay will address the
National Security Agency and its policies, Edward Snowden s information leaks, the views of the
opposition, and solutions to this lingering problem along with contributions. The primary American
government sector in charge of sorting through the massive amounts of data that pass through
technological means is the National Security Agency (NSA). The NSA searches for threats to the
United States, whether that be foreign or domestic. Many US citizens did not know how data was
being sorted until a few whistle blowers, the most famous being former NSA analyst Edward
Snowden, began leaking classified information to the public. This revealed that the US government
was using a massive internet dragnet that filtered through everyone s information, along with the
tapping of phone calls and private messages, regardless of crimes being committed or not. They could
search through private messages, turn on unsuspecting users cameras while their computer is idle, and
listen through their phone

Florida Invasive Species Essay
Invasive species in Florida
Florida, a treasure trove of many, many species of animals and diverse wildlife. How many of those,
Florida species are actually native to Florida though? If you walk outside you will probably see lizards
everywhere, you know, the brown ones. Well, what if I told you, that they are not actually native to
Florida? Those lizards are called Brown Anoles, and they are actually from Cuba and the Bahamas.
This is just one example of the many invasive species, which compete with Florida s native species for
food, resources and territories everyday. A few more examples of invasive species that are harmful to
our wildlife are the Cuban tree frog, which is a threat to not only other frogs but toads and lizards as
well, the Burmese python, which is invading the everglades, and the air potato, which is slowly
creeping its way up through Florida, tree to tree. The Cuban tree frog, true to its name, originates in
Cuba and was brought here through the Caribbean (wec.ufl.edu), probably by cargo or cruise ships,

potato is considered a harmful species is because it is parasitic. The potato starts its journey in the
ground and continues upward in vine form to find a host to latch onto. Once the vine finds a host tree,
bush, or other plant, it begins by latching itself onto the outermost leaves, twigs, and limbs. Once the
vine has fully attached itself, it drains nutrients from the fleshy parts of the host, thereby helping itself
survive and harming the host, rendering itself with the label,

The Pros And Cons Of Apollo Missions

mankind. Humans have imagined travelling to space, the moon, and beyond, since first gazing through

actually someday travel through space or walk on another planet. Yet, we dared to dream and
accomplished exactly that. On July 20, 1969 at 4:18 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, American Neil
Armstrong from the Apollo 11 mission became the first man to step on the surface of the moon

Brief Summary Of Our Town
Our Town, by Thornton Wilder, tells the story of two young teens who slowly fall in love through a
play, in three acts, in which received the Pulitzer. Thornton Wilder was a pivotal figure in literary
history during the twentieth century. The story begins in the first act, where the Stage Manger
welcomes the audience, while introducing the people and places of Grover s Corner, New Hampshire.
Grover s Corner is where the whole story is being set. Grover s Corner is what was considered as the
picture perfect American Town. During this time, automobiles were still fairly new, everyone knew
everyone else s business, and fresh milk was still being delivered each morning. After the Stage
Manager gave the audience an overview of the town, the Stage ... Show more content on

Thornton Wilder starts the book off by introducing the characters in the play, but he introduces them
while telling when they died. The narrator practically gives it away what happens, but we, the
audience do not truly realize what is happening until the third act. The third and final act is when the
narrator starts to explain who has died and tells the audience Emily has died during her childbirth.
This is when it becomes easier to understand the morbid tone of the story. The hopeful tone comes in
place when the narrator explains how Emily goes back to relive her twelfth birthday and realizes how
much everyone is taking their time together for granted, while Emily is dead, the rest of us are not,
and we still have the opportunities to cherish our

Symbolism Of The Monolith And Re Red By Stanley Kubrick
Human made structures in this film are curved and spherical. However, before our main characters are
presented with the monolith for the first time the rooms and spaces they inhabit are square and sharp
in nature. The meeting room on the Clavius, HAL s core on the Discovery. This impending doom is a
subtly hint by Kubrick, an indication that the monolith is about to appear, the sharp lines and dark
interiors replace smooth curves and white walls. All this gives a sense of dread and powerlessness
from the onset of the monolith. Humans are simply pawns, running about. White is a predominant
color in Kubrick films. From the costumes, liquids and phallic sculptures of A Clockwork Orange

ethnic background. These people may have been of Japanese descent but I am steadfast in the belief
that they were no less american than anyone else. The interment of the Japanese americans was a
racist, unjust, and illogical act the will forever leave a stain on america s honor as a nation. Moving
on, the interment of the Japanese Americans was a immensely racist action primarily for its
indifference to other races. The internment of Japanese Americans only imprisoned those of Japanese
descent. Furthermore, America justified this as a war act but the war was not against japan, it was

The internment of Japanese Americans includes people of all heights, sizes, and ages. With this being
said, some people many not have been physically or mentally ready for being incarcerated. As a result
nearly 1,900 Japanese americans died in internment camps. May it be by natural causes or unnatural
causes the chaos and stress of relocating indisputably ushered it on. Furthermore the relocation hurt
the west coast economically. Without the Japanese businesses and employees companies had to find
new workers and new businesses to receive goods from. Also with japanese people gone so was a
major chunk of money with them. With a loss in money the west coast must have suffered a kind of
mini depression. In other words becauses there was less money circulating the west coast the value of
money shoots upward. Next, since store prices are not yet calibrated to this new total money people
will run out of money causes the store prices to rise because the stores are not getting enough money.
Lastly the imprisonment of the japanese americans cost more money than it was worth. To imprison
120,000 people it takes several million if not billion, some of these some of these costs are attributed
from meals, transportation, water, electricity, building, military supervision. Overall the incarceration
of 120,000 Japanese americans is an action that America will regret for the

It can lead to better representation. Each region is properly represented with designation of distinct
regional opinions within federal decision making institutions. This is usually guaranteed by the
specific structure of the Senate known as the Federal Second Chamber in a federal system of
government. The welfare, interests and rights of the constituents in each region is properly

Regrettably, although each local government unit in the Philippines is given funds, they are not
distributed equally. This is so because many factors are considered in appropriating the funds. The
population, the land area, the income capacity and other factors that prevent a small municipality or
city from developing are considered in the budget appropriation. It assures local development. Since
federalism allowed a shared power between national and provincial governments, allowing provincial
leaders will let them focus on developing their own territories. They will have the opportunity to
decide and be given the budget to improve their local community. The rights of the States or Provinces
are expressed and thus, have more local autonomy to develop. Other than this, the income of a
province can be used in its own alone without passing through the national level wherein it may be
restricted for some purposes. It facilitates fast government services. This is because there are two
orders of government, Federal and regional, each in direct contact with its citizens. It is not necessary
anymore to travel in distance just to avail of government services. With the federal system,

not much of a choice for business leaders to change elements of their organization to stay in

various properties of the cluster down to the center core. The average temperature of the cluster gas is

There are two primary modes of AGN feedback which allow the supermassive black hole at the center
of its host galaxy to affect the final stellar mass of the galaxy. The first mode is the kinetic mode,
driven by radio jets, and the second mode is the quasar mode, or radiative mode, which relates to
radiation from the accretion disk~citep{2012Fabian,2012McNamara}. The kinetic mode has been
intensively studied specifically in galaxy clusters, which require feedback to prevent
overcooling~citep{2006Rafferty,2007McNamara} via radio jets and bubbles~citep{2011Fabian}. In
contrast, due to the relative lack of central cluster galaxies in the quasar mode, the impact of radiative
feedback on clusters is poorly understood~citep{1998Silk}.
Four examples of galaxy clusters hosting central quasars are H1821+643~citep{2010Russell}, 3C
186~citep{2005Siemiginowska, 2010Siemiginowska}, IRAS 09104+4109~citep{2012Sullivan},
and the Phoenix cluster~citep{2012McDonald}. However, the small number of such objects is
insufficient to paint a complete picture of the effects of quasar mode feedback on cluster cores.
Therefore, a larger sample of these objects is necessary for our understanding of feedback, including
its duty cycle, its correlation with radiative cooling, and the distinction between the effects of type I
and type II quasars on clusters~citep{2015Kirk}.
One possible way to uncover more of these objects comes from the surprise discovery of the

Vertical Datum
A surface or level which is regarded as a base from which other levels can be counted. For example,
sea level is often used as a datum level against which the height of land and depth of the sea bed are
measured. A geodetic datum is an abstract coordinate system with a reference surface (such as sea
level) that serves to provide known locations to begin surveys and create maps. In this way, datum act
similar to starting points when you give someone directions. For instance, when you want to tell
someone how to get to your house, you give them a starting point that they know, like a crossroads or
a building address. Geodesists and surveyors use datum to create starting or reference points for
floodplain maps, property boundaries, construction surveys, levee design, or other work requiring
accurate coordinates that are consistent with one another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Horizontal datum measure positions (latitude and longitude) on the surface of the Earth, while vertical
datum are used to measure land elevations and water depths. The horizontal datum can be accessed
and used through a collection of specific points on the Earth whose latitude and longitude have been
accurately determined by NOAA s National Geodetic Survey. One application of the horizontal datum
is monitoring the movement of the Earth s crust. This type of monitoring is often used in places like
the San Andreas Fault in California where many earthquakes occur. The vertical datum is similarly
realized through a collection of specific points on the Earth with known heights either above or below
a nationally defined reference surface (e.g., mean sea level). Geodetic vertical datum are generally
used to express land elevations. However, water level datum are a slightly different vertical datum,
and are used as a reference level to which bathymetric soundings are referenced for nautical charts.

times in modern media, but Artemis is one of the most dynamically presented characters in all of
mythology. This is due to the conflicting nature of the stories previously presented, which has been a
source of confusion for many. Nonetheless, people have continuously made stories out of the archer.
Artemis, while in the classic stories was very wise and fair yet stern, is considered younger and more
crass in more recent adaptations, such as The Titan s Curse. Artemis, ... Show more content on

She had a temple dedicated to her at Ephesus, which was known as one of the Seven Wonders of the
World when it was created ( Temple of Artemis ). It was commissioned by Croesus circa 500 BC,
when he was king of Lydia ( Temple of Artemis ). It measured 350 by 150 feet, and was adorned by
art over the entire temple, even in areas as the top of the pillars that supported it ( Temple of Artemis ).
The temple was destroyed twice, once by fire from Herostratus in 356 BC, and once by destruction
from invading Goths in 262 BC, after which the temple was never rebuilt ( Temple of Artemis ).
Works of art were also dedicated to stories describing her, such as her encounter with Acteon in which
Acteon and his hunting dogs come across Artemis bathing in the woods; in spite, she turns Acteon into
a mute deer who is attacked by his dogs ( Artemis and Acteon ). This scene is described through an
ancient bell krater, a vase like object used to mix wine and water to dilute the heavy wine of ancient
times (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston). The bell krater depicts the scene where Artemis shoots Acteon
and he is attacked by his dogs. The scene shows grace in Artemis s movements, with the feeble Acteon
helpless and on the ground, begging for mercy for his actions while receiving none. The art and
temples help a modern civilization to understand how the ancient world worshipped

Fires of Jubilee- Nat Turner s Fierce Rebellion
Amber Laughlin Professor T. Rioux February 18, 2013 Fires of Jubilee Exam Nat s Rebellion August
21, 1861 proved to be a day of sorrow, pain and lessons learned. The Fires of Jubilee is a historical
account of the events that led to the bloodiest slave rebellion in southern history. Nat Turner is painted
as a fairly intelligent and prophetic slave who believed he was chosen to free his people from their
slave bondage. Nat s rebellion last almost two whole days before being halted by militia men from the
state of North Carolina, leaving upwards of 50 whites murdered in the aftermath. Although it took
some time to fully accomplish, the rebellion of Nat Turner ultimately led to the freeing of the slaves
some years later. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Nat s visions gave him the final push he needed to bring the plan into full swing. At one point,
a black spot appeared on the surface of the sun, for Nat this symbolized a black hand over the sun.
This was his sign that God wanted him to rise up against his white enemies. Jehovah was commanding
Nat to rise and move. Nat s trusted generals stayed by his side as this revolt happened without
warning. The violence raged on for more than twenty four hours. Many were left dead and
dismembered in the aftermath. The consequences of the rebellion were very well known in the state
and county. Immediate consequences were obviously the lost lives of the fifty something whites.
Many other slaves lost their lives as the militia began to fight and shut down Nat s group. The entire
county and state was on alert for any suspicious activity coming from any slaves. There was no way to
tell if this was just the beginning or the ending. Rumors spread quickly throughout the state that Nat s
rebellion was only the beginning and that many other slaves outside of his county were planning to
revolt as well. These rumors proved to not be true, but because the residents of the state were on high
alert, many innocent, free blacks and slaves were killed simply for being suspicious. There were trials
and hangings publicly in Virginia and North Carolina. The lives lost due to this rebellion went far
beyond the men and women killed on the first two days by Nat and his crew.

Zoot Suit Analysis
Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez explains the racially charged trial of Sleepy Lagoon in 1942 in which the
court of California charges a group of Chicanos with the murder of another Mexican American man.
For Chicanos, 1940 was an era of discrimination so the trials were unfairly biased against them. To
fight against this discrimination, many Chicanos wore an exaggerated suit, referred to as a zoot suit,
that included a long, loose jacket with padded shoulders and high waisted trousers. This choice of
wardrobe earned the Chicanos a name of zoot suiters . Ethnic identity is an important role in this play
because the men on trial were accused of murder for their cultural background, choice of clothing and
biased media influence rather than evidence.
Ethnic identity is the way in which one regards himself and also how he is perceived by others.
Judgments of another person begins at the first glance. Hairstyle, clothing, shoes and cleanliness are
all tied together in the representation of oneself. The Zoot Suit was a choice of fashion by the
Chicanos because it represented rebellion against both American and Mexican cultures. These suits
were prohibited during the duration of World War II as they used too much cloth, making it an easy
and fashionable way to show their rebellion. While on trial, the Chicanos were denied access to clean
clothes and haircuts, which negatively altered the way the judge and jury saw the men. The judge
states, The zoot haircuts will be retained throughout

Film Analysis Of The Lost World
The movie The Lost World revolves around Jeff Goldblum s character, the smug and flirtatious
scientist, Dr. Ian Malcom, being coerced to venture to the fictional island of Isla Sonar, which is
currently populated by genetically engineered dinosaurs brought back by the company InGen. With
the former CEO of the company John Hammond, who lost control of the company due to the events of
the last movie, tasking Malcom with documenting the behavior of the dinosaurs.
Though, at first unwilling because his experiences from the first movie, Malcom learns that his
girlfriend is already on the island and thus accepts. However, shenanigans ensue when Malcom s posy
runs into a retrieval team sent by InGen to capture the dinosaurs and bring them to a zoo in San Diego.
As the movie continues it becomes more and more apparent that Malcom s team, though portrayed as
the good guys, are not actually in the right. As their ineptitude at being able to take pictures and their
need to get involved with a company s dealings, leads to millions in dollars of damages and the deaths
of dozens of people. To begin the task Malcom was sent on was to simply observe the dinosaurs and
not interfere, because Hammond wanted to build public support for the protection of the dinosaurs. As
well as, the fact that Malcom and his team would be on the island illegally, as the island was owned by
InGen, and Malcom was no longer CEO and thus would be unable to give them any form of
permission to be on the island. But

Jules Verne s 20, 000 Leagues Under The Sea
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, written by the best selling author Jules Verne, is an
enthralling undersea adventure that begins when a mysterious oblong, occasionally phosphorescent
thing , larger and infinitely faster than a whale, begins attacking boats. The famous oceanographer
Professor Pierre Aronnax is invited aboard the Abraham Lincoln to hunt down what he believes to be a
giant narwhal, but once they find it, even the superior war boat is no match for this strange creature.
Professor Aronnax and his trusty servant Council are thrown overboard and end up on the deck of an
oblong, occasionally phosphorescent submarine with their acquaintance Ned Land, a Canadian
Harpooner. They are then hostilely brought aboard and told by Captain Nemo that they are never
allowed to leave the Nautilus, the boat our three travelers happened upon. After this depressing news,
they are offered the opportunity to travel the world underwater and experience wonders only the
captain himself has ever seen, which they promptly accept. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Understand The Effect Of Solar Plasma On Earth s...
2nd P: To understand the effects of solar plasma on Earth s magnetosphere, one must look at the
creation of plasma in the early days of the sun. The sun s creation is similar to the process in the
explosion of a hydrogen bomb, only with the energy created equaling the force of 10 billion hydrogen
bombs per second. When the sun was originally forming, hydrogen gas in the middle was crushed
from weight above. Eventually, the pressures and temperatures reached such an intense point to where
the hydrogen atoms broke apart into electrons and photons, thus, creating plasma. Photons from the
explosion of electrons and protons are made so fast and so many at a time that it creates the observed
power of the sun. This reaches us as sunlight. Even though the process of the energy created is
relatively quick, the process in which the photons travel to Earth happens over a long time within the
Sun s layers. The energy of sunlight that shines down on us today is over 100,000 years 1 ... Show

The overall movement and rotation of the sun effect the magnetic fields in the sun. This movement
churns up plasma in the convection zone*, which in turn stirs up electrical currents, and finally creates
a magnetic field. Within these magnetic fields exists field lines, the main component of the solar
flares. Loops in the magnetic field lines rise with energy from the surface. On one end of the loop
exists a positive while the other end is negative. Plasma underneath stirs the poles and pumps
numerous amounts of energy into them. However, if the poles are twisted enough the loops cross
which creates a short circuit resulting in a tremendous outward explosion. The result is a solar flare.
Within these solar flares, nets of plasma are flung into space and can be described as coronal mass
ejections (solar storms). These CMEs flung into the solar system are what can wreak havoc on the

Art Analysis Of Donatello By One Of The Patron Saint Mark
ART ANALYSIS: SAINT MARK The Italian artist Donatello was selected by one of the guilds in
Florence to make a sculpture of their patron Saint Mark, and Donatello delivered. In the early
fourteenth century, half of Florence s market hall was torn down to make room for Orsanmichele, a
meeting place for all the guilds of Florence. In 1339, each guild was given its own spot to personalize
and decorate. Though it took much more time than originally planned, in 1411, Donatello was chosen
by the linen drapers guild to sculpt Saint Mark as their display. Donatello chose to work with the less
expensive marble instead of bronze. His contract stated that the sculpture should be finished by
November of 1412, but this had to be extended, of course. Finally the statue was finished in 1413, and
truthfully the back of the statue was not fully completed because the back was not going to be
displayed. When Donatello finished this magnificent piece of art, the guild was actually quite critical
of the figure that stands seven feet nine inches tall. The figure was also profound because it used the
contrapposto stance, in which the figure is asymmetrical. This stance had been forgotten by artists all
throughout most of the Dark Ages, so to see it back in such a wondrous display was very important.
Donatello also considered the angle at which the statue of Saint Mark would be seen, from down
below. Donatello purposefully made Saint Mark s head and hands and torso elongated; this would be

  • 2. Keeping The Driving Age Essay Driving is a daily activity to those of age and to some, it is a basic necessity to their lives. When turning 16 years old is when most people begin driving, but keeping the driving age at 16 causes accidents and deaths, rather than raising the driving age and making the road a safer place. If a parent had a choice between their child dying or having an inconvenience of driving them around, hopefully, they would choose having an inconvenience. Imagine a teen is driving with other underage teens in the car 20 to 30 miles per hour over the speed limit. Teenage brain development is at a vulnerable state and is not fully developed causing poor judgment and bad decisions. New findings from brain researchers at the National Institutes of Health explain that the part of the teenage brain called the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is the part that weighs risks, makes judgments, and controls impulsive behavior (Davis). This part of the brain causes the reckless teen driver s actions and accidents. The National Institutes of Health have analyzed 4,000 brain scans from 2,000 to document how brains evolve as children mature and has shown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents have had to drive their children around since their kids were born, taking them to school, sports, and extracurricular activities. Parents are tired of constantly having to chauffeur their kids around (Davis). Now that their teens are old enough to drive, the 16 year can run errands for the parents. However, what is more important to the parents, the inconvenience of them having to drive their teens everywhere or their child s safety? To most parents, their children s safety is the number one priority and many do not realize the risks of teen driving. For example, Kathy Schaefer and Melissa Herberz, mothers of two crash victims had no idea of the odds of their only daughters were facing the night they were killed ... • 3. Everest Emergency Essay Friday morning of April the 18th,The whole earth shook and a loud roar filled the morning sky. From the distance, the gust of wind chill and the news of around 200 mountaineers sunk below the avalanche gave the cold chill along my spine. It had only been three weeks that I started working for Everest ER, a clinic operated at 17400 ft in the Himalayas. Our logistics manager told our medical team that he saw a massive avalanche falling on the queue of around two hundred Sherpa porters, who were carrying loads to Camp One at 19680 ft.Without having any time to soak in the news of the disaster, we immediately started our preparation to receive the casualties. We had no idea about the types of injuries and the number of peopIe affected. Even worse, we feared that the deaths could be much higher. Our team of doctors, paramedics and trained rescuers present on the Base Camp worked in a coordinated fashion. After 12 long hours between helicopter rescues and ... • 4. The 1920 s The 1920 s were a difficult time for those in the agriculture industry. It was a time of industrialization, however the farmers were unable to keep up. Furthermore this caused new laws to be made and old laws to be vetoed. Farmers were unable to repay their debts and were put out of business. This caused a decline in the goods being both imported and exported. This led to the great depression that began in 1929. The 1920 s was a time of change and industrialization for America. During this time the agriculture industry was both growing with new technologies, but declining the amount of sustainable farmers. They were expected to industrialize their farms buying new expensive equipment, that forced them out of business.During this time the farmers were having problems paying off their crops, and were getting loans for short periods of time. The McCumber act of 1922 dramatically raised the price of tariffs, making it hard for european countries to pay off their war debt (para 7 of Fordney McCumber Tariff). This act was made to increase the amount of income that the United States would receive as a whole, because of the agricultural decline in America the entire world is under distress. This act failed 7 years later in 1929. In 1928 president coolidge vetoed the McNary Haugen Bill This was the law that allowed the government to sell the farmers surplus to outside countries at world price(Adler, pg. 568). This was the government s attempt to help the farmers in any way possible. This crisis had not only affected the farmers and their families, but the entire world. Without the farmers ability to produce goods for consumers, there would be no exporting goods, only the importation of goods, causing a major economic decline. The veto of this bill helped keep all surplus goods inside the United States to lower the costs of importing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Lizzie Borden Murders For the past century, the Murders of Andrew J. Borden and his wife Abby Borden became one of America s obsessions. From the towns people of Fall River Massachusetts to the rest of the country, the Borden murders became the topic of interest. The case shocked the nation as Lizzie Borden a 32 year old school teacher was put on trial for the murders of her parents. On August 4, 1892, at 92 Second Street Fall River Massachusetts, Andrew Borden and Abby Borden were found murdered in their homes. During Dr. Bowen s autopsy, Mrs. Borden revealed to have been hit nineteen times, killed by the same hatchet or ax that had killed Mr. Borden, who was hit eleven times. Mrs. Borden s blood had started to get dark and congeal, showing Dr. Bowen that she was killed before Mr. Borden. Over the weeks following the murders, investigators made a timeline from August 3rd, the day before the murders, to August 7th, the day Miss Russell had seen Lizzie burning a dress. On August third Abby Borden had gone to see Dr. Bowen, claiming she and Mr. Borden had been poisoned because both of them had been violently ill the night before. Not thinking her nausea was severe he sent her home. When Dr. Bowen went to check on his neighbors, Mr. Borden told him he wasn t ill and to leave because he wasn t going to pay for the house call; Bridget was also sick that same morning, however, there was no poisons found in the Borden s autopsies. Also, that same day, Lizzie had tried to buy Prussic acid from the drug store, but without a prescription the clerk wouldn t sell it to her. Later in the afternoon on August 3rd Lizzie s uncle, John Morse had arrived, only planning on spending the night; Lizzie claimed to have went straight to bed that night and never saw her uncle. Analysis Of Edward Snowden s Information Leaks In a society centered on an ever growing technological bloom, the standards for security have been placed very high to protect citizens from cyber attacks and wrong doing. However, some of the steps that have been taken pushed the limits to what is lawful. Very little reforms have been made even with recent public awareness to the problem. The steps taken make the US government surveillance programs contradict with the constitutional rights of the American people. This essay will address the National Security Agency and its policies, Edward Snowden s information leaks, the views of the opposition, and solutions to this lingering problem along with contributions. The primary American government sector in charge of sorting through the massive amounts of data that pass through technological means is the National Security Agency (NSA). The NSA searches for threats to the United States, whether that be foreign or domestic. Many US citizens did not know how data was being sorted until a few whistle blowers, the most famous being former NSA analyst Edward Snowden, began leaking classified information to the public. This revealed that the US government was using a massive internet dragnet that filtered through everyone s information, along with the tapping of phone calls and private messages, regardless of crimes being committed or not. How many of those, Florida species are actually native to Florida though? If you walk outside you will probably see lizards everywhere, you know, the brown ones. Well, what if I told you, that they are not actually native to Florida? Those lizards are called Brown Anoles, and they are actually from Cuba and the Bahamas. This is just one example of the many invasive species, which compete with Florida s native species for food, resources and territories everyday. A few more examples of invasive species that are harmful to our wildlife are the Cuban tree frog, which is a threat to not only other frogs but toads and lizards as well, the Burmese python, which is invading the everglades, and the air potato, which is slowly creeping its way up through Florida, tree to tree. The interment of the Japanese americans was a racist, unjust, and illogical act the will forever leave a stain on america s honor as a nation. Moving on, the interment of the Japanese Americans was a immensely racist action primarily for its indifference to other races. The internment of Japanese Americans only imprisoned those of Japanese descent. With this being said, some people many not have been physically or mentally ready for being incarcerated. As a result nearly 1,900 Japanese americans died in internment camps. May it be by natural causes or unnatural causes the chaos and stress of relocating indisputably ushered it on. Furthermore the relocation hurt the west coast economically. Without the Japanese businesses and employees companies had to find new workers and new businesses to receive goods from. Also with japanese people gone so was a major chunk of money with them. With a loss in money the west coast must have suffered a kind of mini depression. In other words becauses there was less money circulating the west coast the value of money shoots upward. Regrettably, although each local government unit in the Philippines is given funds, they are not distributed equally. This is so because many factors are considered in appropriating the funds. The population, the land area, the income capacity and other factors that prevent a small municipality or city from developing are considered in the budget appropriation. It assures local development. Since federalism allowed a shared power between national and provincial governments, allowing provincial leaders will let them focus on developing their own territories. As a business leader getting rid of people or changing their job specifics is one of the many responsibilities they have to be comfortable performing. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two primary modes of AGN feedback which allow the supermassive black hole at the center of its host galaxy to affect the final stellar mass of the galaxy. The first mode is the kinetic mode, driven by radio jets, and the second mode is the quasar mode, or radiative mode, which relates to radiation from the accretion disk~citep{2012Fabian,2012McNamara}. The kinetic mode has been intensively studied specifically in galaxy clusters, which require feedback to prevent overcooling~citep{2006Rafferty,2007McNamara} via radio jets and bubbles~citep{2011Fabian}. In contrast, due to the relative lack of central cluster galaxies in the quasar mode, the impact of radiative feedback on clusters is poorly understood~citep{1998Silk}. Four examples of galaxy clusters hosting central quasars are H1821+643~citep{2010Russell}, 3C 186~citep{2005Siemiginowska, 2010Siemiginowska}, IRAS 09104+4109~citep{2012Sullivan}, and the Phoenix cluster~citep{2012McDonald}. However, the small number of such objects is insufficient to paint a complete picture of the effects of quasar mode feedback on cluster cores. Therefore, a larger sample of these objects is necessary for our understanding of feedback, including its duty cycle, its correlation with radiative cooling, and the distinction between the effects of type I and type II quasars on clusters~citep{2015Kirk}. For example, sea level is often used as a datum level against which the height of land and depth of the sea bed are measured. A geodetic datum is an abstract coordinate system with a reference surface (such as sea level) that serves to provide known locations to begin surveys and create maps. In this way, datum act similar to starting points when you give someone directions. For instance, when you want to tell someone how to get to your house, you give them a starting point that they know, like a crossroads or a building address. Geodesists and surveyors use datum to create starting or reference points for floodplain maps, property boundaries, construction surveys, levee design, or other work requiring accurate coordinates that are consistent with one another. ... Artemis In Greek Mythology Mythology is an entertaining medium of entertainment, for both the ancient Greeks and Romans, where there was no other form of entertainment, and the modern world, where the fantasies of old continue to captivate the minds of the young. Every major Greek god has been represented many times in modern media, but Artemis is one of the most dynamically presented characters in all of mythology. This is due to the conflicting nature of the stories previously presented, which has been a source of confusion for many. Nonetheless, people have continuously made stories out of the archer. Zoot Suit Analysis Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez explains the racially charged trial of Sleepy Lagoon in 1942 in which the court of California charges a group of Chicanos with the murder of another Mexican American man. For Chicanos, 1940 was an era of discrimination so the trials were unfairly biased against them. To fight against this discrimination, many Chicanos wore an exaggerated suit, referred to as a zoot suit, that included a long, loose jacket with padded shoulders and high waisted trousers. This choice of wardrobe earned the Chicanos a name of zoot suiters . Ethnic identity is an important role in this play because the men on trial were accused of murder for their cultural background, choice of clothing and biased media influence rather than evidence. Ethnic identity is the way in which one regards himself and also how he is perceived by others. Judgments of another person begins at the first glance. Hairstyle, clothing, shoes and cleanliness are all tied together in the representation of oneself. The Zoot Suit was a choice of fashion by the Chicanos because it represented rebellion against both American and Mexican cultures. These suits were prohibited during the duration of World War II as they used too much cloth, making it an easy and fashionable way to show their rebellion. While on trial, the Chicanos were denied access to clean clothes and haircuts, which negatively altered the way the judge and jury saw the men. Understand The Effect Of Solar Plasma On Earth s... 2nd P: To understand the effects of solar plasma on Earth s magnetosphere, one must look at the creation of plasma in the early days of the sun. The sun s creation is similar to the process in the explosion of a hydrogen bomb, only with the energy created equaling the force of 10 billion hydrogen bombs per second. When the sun was originally forming, hydrogen gas in the middle was crushed from weight above. Eventually, the pressures and temperatures reached such an intense point to where the hydrogen atoms broke apart into electrons and photons, thus, creating plasma. Photons from the explosion of electrons and protons are made so fast and so many at a time that it creates the observed power of the sun. This reaches us as sunlight. In the early fourteenth century, half of Florence s market hall was torn down to make room for Orsanmichele, a meeting place for all the guilds of Florence. In 1339, each guild was given its own spot to personalize and decorate. Though it took much more time than originally planned, in 1411, Donatello was chosen by the linen drapers guild to sculpt Saint Mark as their display. Donatello chose to work with the less expensive marble instead of bronze. His contract stated that the sculpture should be finished by November of 1412, but this had to be extended, of course. Finally the statue was finished in 1413, and truthfully the back of the statue was not fully completed because the back was not going to be displayed. When Donatello finished this magnificent piece of art, the guild was actually quite critical of the figure that stands seven feet nine inches tall. The figure was also profound because it used the contrapposto stance, in which the figure is asymmetrical. This stance had been forgotten by artists all throughout most of the Dark Ages, so to see it back in such a wondrous display was very important.
