Mozart Essay
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
This paper discusses Mozart s life, his compositions and his importance to the world and the world of
music. It explains how Mozart s music is still some of the most popular classical music played today
and his life is still studied because his music is so well known and liked.
An Austrian composer and performer who showed astonishing precocity as a child and was an adult
virtuoso, musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born to Leopold Mozart and Anna Maria
Pertl in Salzburg, Austria on January 27, 1756. Leopold Mozart was a successful composer and
violinist and served as assistant concertmaster at the Salzburg court. Mozart and his older sister Maria
Anna quot;Nannerl quot; were the couple s only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1769, father and son traveled to Italy and toured for more than a year in Rome, Milan, Florence,
Naples, and Bologna. While in Italy, Mozart completed another opera, Mitridate, re di Ponto, received
a papal audience, passed admission tests to the Accademia Filarmonica, and performed many concerts.
Mozart then returned to Salzburg, but traveled to Italy for two shorter journeys in October 1771 and
October 1772 through March 1773. During this time he completed two more operas, Ascanio in Alba
(1771) and Lucio Silla (1772), eight symphonies, four divertimentos, and several other works.
Archbishop von Schrattenbach, who was a great supporter of Mozart, died in 1771 and was succeeded
by Hieronymus von Colloredo. Although Archbishop Colloredo was a less generous employer, Mozart
continued in his Salzburg post and worked diligently from 1775 to 1777. However, in an effort to
secure a better position, Mozart obtained leave from Salzburg, and set out with his mother in 1777.
They traveled through Munich, Augsburg, and Mannheim, but Mozart was not offered a post. The next
year they continued on to Paris, where Mozart composed the Paris Symphony. In Paris, Mozart s
mother fell ill and soon after the symphony s premiere, she died.
Several months later, Mozart returned to Salzburg and was given the post of court organist as well as
Konzertmeister. He produced numerous works during this

Neil Macdonald s Article On The Issue With Canadian Politics
Neil MacDonald s article on the issue with Canadian politics is filled with the richest form of sarcasm
that pinpoints exactly how juvenile this topic truly is. In my article that I choose, MacDonald takes a
look at the issue of the nigab and other Muslim related topics and how the current Canadian politics is
strategically creating an invisible barrier between Muslims and Canadians. I will first start off with a
brief summary of the article followed by how Edward Said and Jasmine Zine discuss what is currently
happening with the niqab.
Summary: In MacDonald s article, The barbaric cultural practice of election pronouncements, he looks
at how the current Canadian political election has created this barrier between Muslims and
Canadians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Said had looked into how the West had put a distinction to isolate the Orient from themselves. This
would have by usually putting them in a viewpoint as having more barbaric and savage values then the
West. This is clearly seen in the article that MacDonald had written. MacDonald finds that the current
Election has created a barrier making a distinction between Muslims and putting them as the outsiders.
In the article MacDonald finds that many times it is not just saying it bluntly rather it is quick jabs at
Muslims. [...] We were reminded by the immigration minister [...] that Canada now has something
called the Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Act. (MacDonald, 2015) Of course, many
can argue that the immigration minister was not directly attacking Muslims and yet when one reads
the word barbaric, they connate help but think about the barbaric actions that happen almost everyday
in the Middle East. Although Said didn t directly look into gender orientalism he had made a great
point in his article when discussing how the West view woman in an Oriental society. [...] she never
spoke of herself, and she never represented her emotions, presence or history. He spoke for and
represented her. He was foreign, comparatively wealthy, male [...] (Said, Page 6). In this part Said is
discussing how Western men would

How Does Modern Life Evolve Over Millions Of Years Or Was...
Did modern life evolve over millions of years or was it created by God? The controversy started when
Charles Darwin published his book On the Origin of Species. His theory of evolution stated that all
life evolved from a single celled organism. However, creationists rejected this theory. They referenced
the Bible s Book of Genesis for the historical account of how life was created. But without a doubt,
there is undeniable evidence to support the fact that life on earth came from a common ancestor. With
the recent advances in both science and technology, scientists can use fossil records, genetic changes
and anatomical similarities to prove that life as we know it evolved from one common ancestor.
The remains and imprints of organisms found in earlier geological periods are still preserved in
sedimentary rocks. These fossil records allow scientists to look through vast periods of time and attest
to the fact that some species have transitional traits found in larger groups of organisms. This proves
that species evolved from a distant ancestor and were not fixed there by God. Animals such as apes
and the Archaeopteryx are evidence of the missing links and the gaps humanity has filled in the fossil
records. They are also examples of transitional species that have tied different groups of species
together through common traits and skeletal features. Fossil records also prove that single celled
organisms were succeeded by multi celled organisms which ties back to Charles Darwin

Agarose Gel Results
The following figure shows the agarose gel results of the digested DNA plasmids 1 and 2 as well as
the molecular weight markers. This allows for the visualisation of DNA by adding fluorescent dye
SYBR Green to the gel loading dye which was then added to the restriction digest. These results
belong to Jessica and Vince in Group 13. My results did not provide clear bands above the top maker,
which may be a result of the restriction digest not working properly. However, these results below
illustrate two clear bands of each of the digested plasmids and the bands are below the top maker.
DNA plasmid 1 is determined to be Integrin insert since the size of plasmid fragment is 1122 bp,
which is relatively close to 1,250 bp, as seen in Figure 4. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The product of the restriction enzyme digestion of plasmid DNA was analysed visually on agarose
electrophoresis. The identity of the plasmid fragment in plasmid 1 at 1122 bp is established to be
Integrin. The identity of the plasmid fragment in plasmid 2 at 501 bp is determined to be VEGF.
The isolated DNA plasmid is quantitated using UV absorbance and SYBR Green fluorescent methods.
The concentration of plasmids 1 and 2, using UV absorbance, was established to be 3227 µg/mL and
3951 µg/mL, respectively. This method also determines the 260/280 ratio for plasmid 1 which was
1.390 and for plasmid 2 which was 1.342. Furthermore, the plasmids are both contaminated with
proteins. The SYBR Green fluorescent method is more accurate than the UV absorbance method since
it is more specific for double stranded DNA molecules. Therefore, the SYBR Green assay results are
lower than those obtained in the UV absorbance and are estimated to be 163 µg/mL and 202 µg/mL,

How Technology Hinders Society
After studying this unit in history and literature classes, I believe that technology hinders society and
our personal lives. We ve created a machine that can go beyond human knowledge. Mankind now
depend a lot on technology... Skinner s in his quote, The real problem is not whether machines think
but whether men do. After studying this unit in history and literature classes I believe that technology
hinders society and our personal life.
The impact of technology has hindered society and mankind. Technology is a hindered to man kind
because it is taking out all the skills humans have to do. While a machine does all the work, humans
get to sit around controlling or doing another task that isn t as skillful as what the machine is doing. In
the story The Machine Stops, people s lives are controlled by the machine. For example, in the
passage it states, There were buttons and switches everywhere buttons to call for food for music, for
clothing. (Forster, pg.3). This shows that we won t be capable of doing simple tasks in the future and
have everything done for us in a push of a button. This is important because if we keep making
inventions that can out smart mankind, then there isn t need of our knowledge. In addition, ... Show

In the story The Machine Stops, humans are being overindulge. For example, in the passage it states,
The man in front dropped his Book no great matter, but it disquieted them all. In the rooms, if the
Book was dropped, the floor raised it mechanically... and the man, instead of picking up his property,
felt the muscles of his arm to see how they had failed him. (P.6. This shows that we become weak as
the days pass by with a new invention that makes our life easier. This is important because we are
creating machines that take away any skills that we use to do in our work.

A Pair Of Silk Stockings, A Shameful Affair, And The Story...
What is social expectation and how does it affects one s life? In the short stories A Pair of Silk
Stockings , A Shameful Affair , and The Story of Hour by Kate Chopin from the novel The Awakening
and Selected Stories of Kate Chopin, they uncover the expected roles and responsibilities of women in
the early 1900s. Through imagery and diction, Chopin reveals that people tend to fall into others
expectations upon their marriage and even before it, which leads to lose their personal freedom and
gain desires in conflict with social expectations.
First, numerous people especially women in the early 1900s fall into others expectations upon and
before their marriage. In A Pair of Silk Stockings and A Shameful Affair , two of their main characters
are women, and they both fall into societal expectations about them where they later lose their
freedom. For example, in A Pair of Silk Stocking , Chopin targets the social expectation upon one s
marriage where she describes the usual mother s responsibilities by saying A dollar or two should be
added to the price usually paid for Janie s shoes, which would insure their lasting an appreciable time
longer than they usually did () As Chopin utilizes imagery, this infers an image of what Mrs. Sommers
plans to do as a mother, who she carefully plan her money to buy new clothes for her children.
Moreover, the word insures means to arrange compensation for damage that is done to the event,
whereas the word appreciable means large enough to be noticed. Yet, both connotes a stable lasting
which further reveal that one of the mother s roles that is expected by the society is to know how use
the money wisely for their children without falling in debt. Thus, the responsibilities of a mother have
overloaded her where she later turn in self indulgent. Likewise, Chopin not only portrays how women
fall into others expectations upon their marriage yet they also fall into it before their marriage. In the
short story A Shameful Affair , the author describes the primary character as Mildred Kraummer, who
she falls in love with the one of the farmhands. While Mildred meets him fishing, they accidentally
give a kiss where the author narrates He kissed her lips... Shame

Importance Of My High School Football Team
A High School Football Team is a community of students selected to play together in the school team
where all the students have the fair opportunity to join the team. There will be a lot of students in the
team including a student from different cultures. I was one of students who joined the football team in
high school. As a Nepali refugee who had never heard of football until he came to America, the
transition to play for my school team was not easy. I entered a discourse community of my High
School Football Team by developing my knowledge about football, communicating, and making
friends with team members from different culture and social group. My journey to the school team
was hard, but it was worth. I became part of a football team because students are taught to be
responsible and mature in the team. Joining a football team was a great opportunity for me to make a
lifelong friendship with other players learning about leadership, communicating, and working with a
team. Just like other players, I played with a hope of getting a scholarship for college. I began with
desired to become a true member of this community, but I was so determined that I end up leading a
team by becoming a team captain. Therefore, it is important for everybody to learn the experiences of
others because there might be somebody out there who wants to be part of any team, but maybe they
are afraid to step up to join that team thinking he or she is different among all. It doesn t matter who

Looking Back To School-Personal Narrative
Blind I looked at my calendar right as I woke up, and all I could read out of the blur of my phone was:
Thursday, May 2016. The entire time I was trying to make out the date on my calendar, I couldn t help
but feel as if something was off. Something didn t feel right. No matter how I felt I was determined to
go to school, I had a test in Geometry. I obviously couldn t miss it, my grades are too important to me.
So I am off to school, I missed breakfast this particular morning. I couldn t help but feel as if I ate
something it would be my last meal. Like I said, this was a weird day for me, maybe the reason I felt
funny was because I was in the mood to be dramatic. So be it. I walked out into my yard and felt this

Soon, school had ended too. The day after school ended, I was introduced to my neurologist. My
neurologist was a short, funny Jewish man. He wasn t a funny man when he ran all of these weird tests
on me, you name any test and he ran it on me. EKG s, Equilibrium test, Balance test, some other
scientific tests that if you named I would be forced to have flashbacks of. Soon, I finally got to see the
MRI of my brain. As my neurologist went through the first three layers, and as we approached to the
fourth layer, my heart immediately dropped. My face turned ghost white. I looked at my brain in
horror. There it was, a hole the size of a tiny clementine sitting on my left participle/occipital lobe. My
first thought was, Oh my god is that cancer? My next thought was, Oh my god can I still play
volleyball, what about softball? Oh lord, how am I going to tell Mrs. Mapman (My band director). My
neurologist looked amazed at what he saw, he told me that I should be partly blind! He then assured
me that this Cyst was stable, however it needed to be monitored, and that I needed to go get an MRI
yearly. This was an accidental finding, this cyst was no way, shape or form the reason why I
experience an intense dizzy spell every day. My doctor then went over all of my results from the
previous tests that I

Film And American Culture Essay
The relationship between film and the American culture is one, which is highly complicated and
dynamic. Movie director in Hollywood are constantly influenced by world events to create movies,
which entertain, and at times shed light on certain events. Film is also an integral part of our culture
because it provides a medium, which can reflect our public s concerns, attitudes, and beliefs. This
report will briefly discuss the interplay between film and the American culture, which is represented in
said film.
During the late 1940 s and into the 1950 s, film reflected the conservatism, which dominated the
sociopolitical arenas of the time. America was at war with the axis powers in Germany, Italy and
Japan. War films during this era depicted a we versus them attitude. These films simply involved an
antagonist and a hero. Until the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, American films generally reflected,
the neutral, isolationist stance that prevailed in politics and culture (Lordbucket.org, 2012) Films like
Casablanca which was directed by Michael Curtiz, painted an image of ill effects of fascism. It also
illustrated the values of heroes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baby boomers were expanding our country and businesses were flourishing. The 1960 s presented a
reactionary youth culture, which was against the dominant institutions in America. The civil rights
movement was in full effect and many of the films of this era displayed the antiestablishment views of
times. In Mike Nichol s 1967 film The Graduate, Dustin Hoffman entered into a romantic affair with
the wife of his father s business partner. Many young viewers during this era believed the film
perceived the social codes established by elders of the past generation. Keeping with rebellious
attitude of America, films like Bonne and Clyde s violence provided examples of film directors testing
the limits of permissible on screen material. This generation ushered in the MPAA rating

Descriptive Adjectives
Analysis of Descriptive Adjectives in Two Stories
In any story, the reader needs some way of imagining what the author is writing about. When writing,
authors use descriptive words to illustrate what they are trying to convey to the reader and to enhance
their story. In the stories The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers and The House of the
Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, both authors use descriptive words to develop the mood of the setting and
the characters. In The Treasure of Lemon Brown, Myers uses descriptive words to describe the setting,
characters, and also the mood. He used such words in a scene from the story where the main character,
Greg, is walking down an empty street and is looking for shelter from a thunderstorm. The phrase,
Graffiti scarred building...grim shadows. is used to describe the buildings around him. These words
are used to set up the depressed or ominous mood of the setting, by using words such as scarred and
grim. Those particular words cause it to seem as though the graffiti is old and permanent, as if the
neighborhood has been this way for a while, and will remain that way: gloomy and depressed.
Furthermore, Myers uses these descriptive words to describe Lemon Brown when he writes, His
black, heavily wrinkled face was surrounded by a halo of crinkly white hair and whiskers that seemed
to separate his head from the layers of dirty coats piled on his small frame. From this the reader can
tell that this is an aged man, who is

Nt1330 Unit 7 Igm
Based on the comparison Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3, we identified following set of categories on
which we would like to evaluate the above tools and computing paradigm in subsequent sub sections:
4.1.1. Distributed Computation, Scalability and Parallel Computation As we can see from the
comparison tables, all computing tools provide these facilities. Hadoop distributes data as well as
computing via transferring it to various storage nodes. Also, it linearly scales by adding a number of
nodes to computing clusters but shows a single point failure. Cloudera Impala also quits execution of
the entire query if a single part of it stops. IBM Netezza and Apache Giraph whereas does not have
single point failure. In terms of parallel computation IBM Netezza is fastest due to hardware built
parallelism. 4.1.2. Real Time Query, Query Speed, Latency Time The Hadoop employs MapReduce
paradigm of computing which targets batch job processing. It does not directly support the real time
query execution i.e OLTP. Hadoop can be integrated with Apache Hive that supports HiveQL query
language which supports query firing, but still not provide OLTP tasks (such as updates and deletion at
row level) and has late response time (in minutes) due to absence of pipeline ... Show more content on

Also, since Clouera and Giraph perform in memory computation they do not require data input and
data output that saves a lot of processing cost involved in I/O. None of the tools require the ETL
(Extract, Transform and Load) service, thereby they save a major cost involved in data preprocessing.
Hadoop is highly fault tolerant that is achieved by maintaining multiple replicas of data sets, and its
architecture that facilitates dealing with frequent hardware malfunctions. Giraph achieves fault
tolerance using barrier checkpoints.

Ipv6 And Ipv6 Address Resolution Protocol
Since there are so many IP addresses that need to be handled on the Internet, IPv4 and IPv6 need a
way to keep track and configure them. This is normally referred to as address resolution. This includes
translating network layer addresses into link layer addresses, having automatic assignments of
addresses, and routing data to the correct location on a specific network. IPv4 uses a protocol called
Address Resolution Protocol, or ARP, in order to translate IP addresses into MAC addresses. A MAC
address is the unique number given to the network interface card in each computing device. The
reason this needs to be done is because on many intranet networks, the internal communication and
delivery of data is based off of the MAC address rather than the IP address. The Dynamic Host
Control Protocol, or DHCP, handles the automatic configuration and assignment of IP addresses in
IPv4. DHCP is an internal protocol that takes the MAC addresses of the NICs on a network, and
automatically assigns IP addresses. It also keeps track of them so that two NICs don t acquire the same
IP address. Without DHCP every IP address would have to be entered manually by the system
administrator, which would be incredibly difficult considering how many devices can potentially
access a network. IPv6 uses similar methods to perform both of those functions, but there are still
important differences that exist to improve the way that IPv6 performs. Instead of ARP, IPv6 uses the
Neighbor Discovery Protocol

Marble Powder As A Partial Replacement Of Sand
V. CONCLUSION From the test results it is clearly evident that granite powder as a partial
replacement of sand proves to be beneficial when Durability properties of Concrete is considered.
Durability of Concrete using Granite Fines is almost same as that of reference mix (GF0), However at
30% replacement compared to other proportions yielded better durability.

When you think of Notre Dame, you think about their quality of education, and how good they are at

problem they have. As of right now Notre Dame has two active sexual assault cases and one that is

Germany And Its Impact On The United States Essay
In the last few centuries, Europe has experienced major changes both in its population makeup and
number. Be that as it may, in the last two decades, it has been faced with an unprecedented decline in
population growth while struggling with the issue of an aging population. Indeed, from Helsinki to
Lisbon, the birth rate has fallen dramatically in recent years. It has fallen so much so that most
countries have put together some form of policies to help mitigate what is perceived as a serious
demographic crisis in european capitals. Those policies have yielded different results. While some
countries like France are now experiencing a slow growth rate as a result of those policies, others in
the likes of Germany are forced to still deal with an ever declining population. In this paper, I will be
analyzing, comparing, and contrasting the policies in both countries.
Since the end of the second world war, Germany has had undeniable economic performances. Unlike
its european counterparts, It has extremely low unemployment, record trade surpluses and a healthy
public accounts. However, the fact remains that the long term outlook of its population is less positive
as its population continues to decline while the portion of the its aging population surpases the
younger part. Demographic trends in Germany and France appear to be divergent. The two countries
seem to be in a radically different situations. Germany has a population of 82,175,684 inhabitants.

Analysis Of The Book I Lay Dying By Dewey Dell
A tool is a device or instrument used to carry out a particular function. Although betrayal is not
considered an actual object, Dewey Dell within the book As I Lay Dying uses this to achieve a safe
plan. Just like in the definition of a tool, she uses betrayal for a particular function; this particular
function is to get rid of her brother Darl. Dewey Dell is the daughter of Anse and Addie Bundren. She
is about seventeen years old. In this novel, she has sex with a boy named Lafe and conceives a child.

according to their brother Cash before Dewey Dell became pregnant. Cash says, And then I always
kind of had an idea that him and Dewey Dell kind of knowed things betwixt them (Faulkner 237).
Although Cash believes that they were close before, their relationship changed. Darl towards the end
of the book burns Samson s barn with his mother s coffin in it. Dewey Dell knows that he did this.
When they get to the town of Jefferson to bury their mother, Dewey Dell turns in her brother Darl to
the police. . . . but when them fellows told him what they wanted and that they had come to get him
and he throwed back, she jumped on him like a wild cat . . . (Faulkner 237). Dewey Dell not only
turns Darl in, but she helps the police tackle him to the ground. This is a major relationship change
from what Cash had expressed. She betrays Darl by telling the police. She could have kept it to herself
and not told anyone, but instead she decides to notify the police of his wrong doings.
Addie betrayed her husband Anse and this influenced Dewey Dell to tattle on her brother Darl. Addie,
within the only chapter that she has in the book describes why she betrayed her husband. She says,

Argumentative Essay On Friday Night Lights
The show Friday Night Lights gives viewers an inside look into the lives of high school football
players of a small town in Texas. The show is astonishing on many levels, from it s unique camera
styles to the complex characters. Many people usually dismiss athletes as dull characters and some
think of sports as something pointless or shallow. The show disproves these thoughts by giving
viewers a perspective into the lives of the players, coaches, and fans of the Dillon Panthers football
team. This show ultimately builds empathy for the lives of the football players in the show, which
helps in understanding real life athletes and their coaches. Coach Taylor is a major character in the

This made the show feel more real and therefore gets the audience more into what happens in the
show. The close ups are very important, they reveal a lot of what s going on and often are symbolic. A
good example of this can be seen in season 1 episodes 1 when Jason Street (Main quarterback) is
laying on the ground, facing up and not moving after having tackled a defensive player. As the medics
rush to assist him the camera zooms into his eyes which are blood shot red and reveal he s extremely
scared. Then in shows a close up of his feet which aren t moving and reveal he might be paraplegic.
This is effective because it makes the audience feel what the character is feeling and almost makes one
feel like they re there. What this show does is show that theres more to football, the players, and the
coaches than meets the eye. Through complex characters, the show builds empathy for these
individuals and possibly real life people. It also shows the copious factors that make a sport great.
Complimented by film techniques such as the camera angles, all these factors make the show

A focus group provides the ideal setting from which to gather unbiased, authentic and in depth
information. However, a focus group is only a success if the moderator creates a suitable setting for
directing, recording and analysing discussions in a natural and unbiased manner. Planning, directing
and recording focus groups does not create problems for researchers, but analysing information takes a
great deal of time and expertise.
And yet while analysing information is the most important step in focus group research, it is also
where most researchers fail to deliver. The findings of a focus group are valuable only if the researcher
analyses the information in a fair and unbiased manner, which is, unfortunately, not always the case. It
is not unheard of for some researchers to filter out what they don t want to hear, create presentations
based on what they think they have heard, or in fact, not analyse the information at all.
A vast amount of information is discussed during a focus

The Autobiography Look Me The Eye By John Elder Robison
Courage George Carlin, an American stand up comedian and author, once said, I like it when a flower
or a little tuft of grass grows through a crack in the concrete. It s so f****n heroic. The autobiography
Look Me in the Eye by John Elder Robison is a memoir about a man s strange aloofness towards
others, but also the difficulties he has had to over come and the courage he needed to get through
them. This story gives a glimpse into the life of an Aspergergian as he likes to call himself. Aspergers
syndrome is a form of autism that affects the ability to effectively socialize and communicate. This
syndrome generated a vast majority of complications all throughout his life. During his childhood,
John is a social outcast. He does not know how to befriend people, and he is very blunt and rude to his
peers. This makes it very difficult for him to create bonds with people, but he did occasionally become
acquainted with the other outcasts such as his friend named Jeff. Robinson s teenage years were even
worse. John was labeled as the class clown and began to fail school even though he was very smart he
just did not care anymore; consequently, this lead him into the path of dropping out of school.
However, after he quit school he had started working for a small band fixing their EQ amps. This was
good for John because it gave him a chance to interact more with people while making money and
traveling. After that, he started working for successful bands like KISS and Pink

Small Universities Vs Smaller Universities
Smaller Universities vs. Larger Universities Millions of students attend various universities every
semester. Some students choose to go to smaller universities because they might be close to home, and
some students decide to go with the larger ones due to the desire to be a part of the campus life or the
longing to join a sorority/fraternity; maybe they like classes that contain about 300 other peers.
Students often debate whether they should attend a smaller university or a larger university; however,
when the two are contrasted, it becomes clear that smaller universities have more opportunities
offered.
One important issue that deeply impacts a student s education are the class sizes. Bigger universities
tend to obtain classes consisting of 100 to about 600 classmates. This has the ability to negatively
affect an individual because they might be behind on a subject due to lack of understanding and are
too afraid to ask a question in front of a full class (which mostly happens because they do not want to
appear unintelligent to the other undergrads). On the other hand, if the student attended a smaller
university, the class sizes would be about 20 50 students, putting less pressure on a person to request
assistance (Hyman and Jacobs). Another concern is a professor s teaching techniques. As stated, class
sizes are a problem not only for the students, but also the professors. If the class is huge, the professor
will not be able to look at one student as an individual

Campaign Finance Research Paper
What Caused for the Reform of Campaign Finance? The reformers passed these provisions in
response to corruption, which culminated in Watergate 1972 presidential campaign (Wright, 1003).
The reformers found that these excesses were fueled by contributions collected for political gain.
Their goal was to protect the political process from distortion and corruption (Wright, 1003).
Money also caused for the reform of campaign finance. Money does facilitate communication of
political preferences and prejudice (Wright, 1004). It also does influence the outcome of elections. For
instance, the more money spent on behalf of the candidate gives the candidate a better chance of
winning the election. However, money could also lead to corruption because ... Show more content on

regimes transitions away from regulating which actors can spend money in elections, the central

finance regime limits contributions and mandates disclosure by making it clear to individuals on
which contributions are prohibited or spending must be disclosed (Johnstone,

Gender Voting Rights In The Search For Equal Rights
Since the beginning of time women have been viewed as inferior to men. Slowly, women have
chipped away at this social construct from protesting for voting rights to joining the armed forces.
Although women have made great advances in the search for equal rights, there are still many
drawbacks even in the 21st century. Gender wage gap, double standards, and social media still
threaten to hinder women in their everyday lives.
Women have become more present in occupations traditionally male dominated. However, in 2015, a
woman made 83% of what a man made. At this rate, it would take a woman 44 extra days of work to
earn the same amount as a man. Why is this? Women continue to be more commonly present in lower
paying jobs. This could be a big contributor to the pay gap. Another reason could be gender
discrimination. According to a survey in 2013 by the Pew Research Center, women were two more
times as likely to say they had been discriminated against at work (Brown and Patten).
Another problem for women is lack of respect. Too often are men respected or congratulated for
things that women are shamed for. For one example, women are endlessly shamed for having too
many sexual partners. However, if a man has sexual relations with many women he is applauded. A
woman s appearance is considered very important in today s culture. A woman who did not wake up
and do her hair and makeup is often seen as lazy or a slob. There are not as many physical
expectations of men. In the

In OFDM systems, only a one user can transmit on all of the subcarriers at any given time, and time
division multiple access (TDMA) or frequency division multiple access (FDMA) is used to support
multiple users. The major disadvantage of this static multiple access scheme is that the fact that the
different users perform differently in the same given wireless channel is not being taken in
consideration. OFDMA, on the other hand, allows multiple users to transmit simultaneously on the
different subcarriers per OFDM symbol at any given time. Since the users perform differently in the
channel probability that all users experience the same fade in a particular subcarrier is very low,
though it can be assured that the subcarriers are assigned to the users who sees good channel gains on
them.
While allowing simultaneous access to multiple users to the medium OFDMA has been shown to
reduce multi path fading, within air interfaces in the IEEE 802.16 standard.
The main advantages of using this multicarrier technology are: higher data rates, longer transmission
distance, and better mobility support.
Due to the fact that OFDMA divides the available frequency spectrum into several orthogonal
subcarriers, inter symbol and inter carrier interference are minimized, or even eradicated. Also, the
assignment of these subcarriers to different users for transmission can be done dynamically, both in
frequency and time dimension. This flexibility provides a way of boosting

Tungsten
Title of Your Report
Tungsten, also known as wolfram, is a chemical element with symbol W and atomic number 74. The
word tungsten comes from the Swedish language tung sten, which directly translates to heavy stone.
Its name in Swedish is volfram, however, in order to distinguish it from scheelite, which in Swedish is
alternatively named tungsten.
A hard, rare metal under standard conditions when uncombined, tungsten is found naturally on Earth
only in chemical compounds. It was identified as a new element in 1781, and first isolated as a metal
in 1783. Its important ores include wolframite and scheelite. The free element is remarkable for its
robustness, especially the fact that it has the highest melting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

and a much lower superconducting transition temperature TC relative to the β phase: ca. 0.015 K vs. 1
4 K; mixing the two phases allows obtaining intermediate TC values. The TC value can also be raised
by alloying tungsten with another metal . Such tungsten alloys are sometimes used in low temperature
superconducting circuits.
Isotopes
Naturally occurring tungsten consists of five isotopes whose half lives are so long that they can be
considered stable. Theoretically, all five can decay into isotopes of element 72 by alpha emission, but
only 180W has been observed to do so with a half life of ×1018 years; on average, this yields about
two alpha decays of 180W in one gram of natural tungsten per year. The other naturally occurring
isotopes have not been observed to decay, constraining their half lives to be:
Another 30 artificial radioisotopes of tungsten have been characterized, the most stable of which are
181W with a half life of 121.2 days, 185W with a half life of 75.1 days, 188W with a half life of 69.4
days, 178W with a half life of 21.6 days, and 187W with a half life of 23.72 h. Tungsten typically
combines with oxygen to form the yellow tungstic oxide, WO3, which dissolves in aqueous alkaline
solutions to form tungstate ions,

The Spokane Indian Reservation
Throughout the novel, Alexie addresses the underlying theme of poverty by highlighting the extreme
class differences between the story s two main settings: the Spokane Indian Reservation and the town
of Reardan, Washington. The contrasting locations of a severely impoverished native American
reservation and the upscale white community surrounding it are key factors in the development of
Arnold s identity; he attempts to escape the toxic culture of depression, alcoholism, and despair on the
reservation by abandoning the poverty of his hometown and attending a white school which, upon first
glance, seems full of optimism and opportunity. Arnold particularly emphasizes the poverty of the
reservation by explicitly characterizing himself as, ...just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

parents inability to achieve their goals, Arnold believes that achieving his dreams might be impossible
as well; this is evident when he states, But we reservation Indians don t get to realize our dreams. We
don t get those chances. Or choices. We re just poor. That s all we are (Alexie 13). For Arnold, feelings

Observations at the Park
A cigarette butt lies next to my foot, still emitting a trace of smoke. Nearby on the dusty asphalt a
pigeon waddles self consciously, bobbing its head as if pecking the air for some invisible food. A
squirrel churrs a threat to his brother, challenging him to romp.
The walkway before me never becomes silent. A buzz of voices blends with the city soundscape of
cars driving and trucks backing, swingsets squealing and sparrows chirping. A toddler, holding tightly
to his sister s stroller, yells Achtung! Achtung! Achtung! at a squirrel that crosses two inches from his
foot. His mother comforts him, in German. A man sits down on the bench across from me, eyelids

At home, the mountain overshadows our farm in the same way that the thirty story apartment building
a block north overshadows this park. They both recede as they rise, shadowed places standing out
against sunlit sides, seeming to hold themselves back from too much involvement with their
surroundings. This building stands behind a wall of brick rowhouses like the low hill of alfalfa fields
blocks a view of the lower reaches of the mountain.
The rowhouses potentially beautiful facade is marred by rusty air conditioner units and a high trim of
metalwork, corroded to a bright green, contrasting with the clean brick and the white window frames.
Trees obscure my vision slightly, holding onto their last few dirty brown leaves. A puff of air, cool
enough to make you shiver but too warm for a jacket, rustles them.
Strains of harmonica waft from the park bench opposite me. A street musician of sorts has opened for
business, a blue green flowerpot at his feet. His near empty bag is next to him on the bench,
surrounded by his array of harmonicas. A contented Labrador Retriever disinterestedly glances toward
him, not missing of beat of his lazy gait. Swing low, sweet chariot... The man plays each line of music,
then sings it. Coming for to carry me home...

The Humanistic Approach To Psychology
Humanism, also known as the phenomenological approach, is a contemporary approach to psychology
that focuses on the whole person . It stresses the idea that a person is an individual and is unique.
Humanists look at behavior through the eyes of the person, not as an observer. Everyone needs to be
treated differently based on their unique personality. They believe that a person s behavior is
determined by their perception of the world around them, not their environment or genetics.
Humanism begins with the belief that people have free will, or personal agency as it s called in
humanism, and that all people are inherently good. It is believed that everyone wants to make
themselves and the world a better place. They have a natural born drive to fulfill their maximum
potential. Humanism emphasizes personal worth and basic human values. Humanists are not
concerned about instinctual drive, external forces, or past experiences. Instead humanists use the ideas
of love, fulfillment, self worth, and independence to help people as they are the basic human wants.
Humanism rose to prominence in the mid 20th century. American psychologists Abraham Maslow and
Clark Moustakas met with other psychologists in 1957 and 1958 to discuss developing an organization
devoted to a different approach to mainstream psychology. They wanted self actualization, creativity,
health and individuality to be the major focuses of the approach. In 1961, with assistance from

Explain The Five Stages Of A Helping Relationship
There are five stages of a helping relationship. First stage of a helping relationship is rapport and trust
building. During the beginning of this stage, clients are concern about the level of trust they have for
the helper, and the helper is concern about the legal side of the service. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). For
an example, the helper have to give a disclosure statement that discusses limits, legal issues, fees, and
purpose of the interview. The client must give the helper an informed consent this shows that the client
receive the disclosure statement, understand it, and agree with it. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). This stage
is about establishing the foundation of the relationship through empathy, good social skills, and
listening. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this stage, both the client and the helper assess the problems and work together. In the process,
the helper asks series of questions to identify the issues, and explore other issues that might arise.
(Neukrug, 2013, pg. 117). The reasons for the questions is to stay focus on the real issues.
Third stage of the helping relationship is deepening understanding and goal setting. Besides basic
helping skills, one would add skills to deepen the relationship with client. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 117). In
this stage, the client is allowing the helper to see their true self. When the true self is reveal, the client
is more honest when it comes to questions. The helper can t rush this process, or the client will pull
back on the relationship. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 117).
The fourth stage is work. Fourth stage consist of working on the issues that were identify and agreed
on. (Neukrug, 2013, pg. 116). The helper will use different skills to help the client to tackle the
problem. The clients takes responsibility on their identify issues and building themselves up to

The Serpent-Vampire in Keats Lamia Essay
The Serpent Vampire in Keats s Lamia
The origin of the lamia myth lies in one of the love affairs of Zeus. The Olympian falls in love with
Lamia, queen of Libya, which was, for the Greeks, the whole continent of Africa. When Hera finds out
about their love, she destroys each of Lamia s children at birth. In her misery, Lamia withdraws to the
rocks and caves of the sea coast, where she preys on other women s children, eating them and sucking
their blood. To recompense his mistress, Zeus gives her the power of shape shifting. Perhaps as a
reflection of this versatility, the monstrous race of lamiae of Africa are composite beings, with the

Immortal temptresses hold out that same promise of heightened sexual experience, but they add to that
the lure of an escape from the ordinary world into a dream land of perpetual youth and eternal life.
They can raise man above his mortal station. In this category we can place the Homeric goddess
Kalypso. She has tried to secure Odysseus for herself by giving him eternal youth and immortality. As
she complains to Hermes, who has come with the gods command to send Odysseus home, all her
effort has gone unrewarded:
I fed him, loved him, sang that he should not die

No one is grateful to such a benefactress, least of all the hero himself, though we have to remember
that he has spent seven unaging years in her earthly paradise. Her inability to win his heart intensifies
her anger at the other gods. Whatever the gods have done for their mortal beloveds, they have not
loved as she has, devotedly, constantly.
Odysseus refuses Kalypso s immortality because he glories in the very restrictions imposed by
mortality. His love for his

George Washington Military Life Essay
The Military Life of George Washington
George Washington, a man of many military achievements, brought ragtag farmers to military men,
and destroyed the most powerful army in the world. Washington was appointed the Commander in
Chief of the Continental Army on June 14, 1775. Washington, who had military experience before
serving in the Continental Army, had never commanded an army of this size. He was appointed leader
of the Continental Army because John Hancock, president of the Second Continental Congress,
thought of him as a man of great character who would help unite the colonies. Brilliant character and
leadership help George Washington win battles over the British, and make farmers into true military
men.

Training the farmers was a hard task for George Washington since there is only one of him and
thousands of other farmers who did not know what to do. Also, the colonies had a poor track record of
working together effectively. During the Battle of Saratoga, Ben Franklin created a military alliance
with the French. The French in return sent Marquis de Lafayette, a high ranking general in the French
military, to meet with George Washington. Lafayette was sent over to give the farmers supplies, and to
help train to become true military men. Training the farmers took a lot of hard work to get them
prepared for the war they were entering. An example of farmers being turned into fighters to defeat the
British Army occurred during the winter of Valley Forge. The farmers were forced to overcome
adversity such as disease, starvation, and lack of warmth. They needed motivation which George
Washington gave them. Washington encouraged them that they have what it takes to defeat the
greatest army in the world. The only thing that Washington could not help with was the pain. Mind
over matter. A positive attitude can accomplish anything. Washington could not stress that enough.
Another way that the farmers became military men was their fight at the Battle of Bunker Hill. They
did significant damage to the British. giving them self confidence and knowledge that

Television And Its Impact On The World War II
In 1926 John Logie Baird transmitted his first image with his new mechanical television. As the 4 x2
image of his business partner illuminated his face, Baird was completely unaware of the influence this
new medium would have on the opinions and attitudes of the people of the world. Television
represented a new opportunity to bring not only audio like radio but to place an image in every home.
Along with the work of many other inventors television was soon to become a viable medium of
entertainment and news but it did face many setbacks. At first television was a novelty, completely
overshadowed by the established medium of radio. Before World War II very few homes contained a
television and broadcasters mostly aired 15 minute segments and were limited in technology. Then on
September 1, 1939 Hitler and Germany invaded Poland and the world plunged into World War II. The
FCC issued a ban on the construction of television equipment causing the growth of television to
stagnate. At the end of the war economic prosperity and a rising middle class opened the door for a
new rise in the purchase of goods. One such good was the television. In 1947 only a few thousand
homes owned a television. By 1950 six million homes contained a television, and in 1960 around 60
million homes contained a television. During this period a new war was being waged: the Cold War.

development began. North American cultures such as the Mississippian culture, the Hopewell

era. Major contributions and innovations of Native Americans have developed and been passed on

the Mississippi Valley and out into the southeastern states of Alabama, Georgia and Florida. For 800

Cultural Significance Of A Hard Day s Night
In this essay I will examine the cultural significance of Richard Lester s A Hard Day s Night.
Examining its influence on other films and cultural phenomena, I shall argue that Lester s film
invented or popularized many filmic conventions now considered standard in the movie and television
industry. This paper covers concepts such as montage theory, jump cuts, camera shots, French New

Jean Luc Godard in 1960s Breathless. Jump cuts are utilized to increase expressive effects of editing

Titus Andronicus And A Comedy Of Errors
In many of Shakespeare s plays, he uses women to reflect on the social structures of Elizabethan
England. Specifically, in Titus Andronicus and A Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare appears to take a
very feministic approach on the role of women within society. Although women were not allowed the
same privileges as men during this time period, Shakespeare seems to attribute agency to the female
characters within his plays. In Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus and A Comedy of Errors, he uses
allusions, metaphorical language, and explicit imagery to create powerful identities for women in
order to critique the patriarchal structure of Elizabethan society. In order to understand the agency of
women in these plays, it is also important to consider the social context in which the plays were
written. Although the reign of Queen Elizabeth I provided the opportunity for the increase of women s
rights, there was still much progress to be made. In fact, women were often very reliant on the means
of either their fathers or their husbands. Although women did have access to education, it was not

has the power to use this beauty to overcome the power of her male counterparts. In this way,
Shakespeare attributes a great amount of agency to Lavinia, especially in relation to Antipholus. By

Poverty on education is not a unusual problem that the world is currently facing. According to H.
George This fact-the great fact that poverty and all its concomitants show themselves in
communities just as they develop into the conditions toward which material progress lends proves that
the social difficulties existing wherever a certain stage of progress has been reached, do not arise from
local circumstances, but are, is someway or another, engendered by progress itself.

Dicksion Summary
Natural forms of chimerism can also cause issues in paternity and maternity testing for unintentionally
omitted children of a will. Consider In Re Estate of Dicksion, an Oklahoma Supreme Court case that
dealt with this exact issue. In Dicksion, Thomas Powell, an alleged son of the decedent born out of
wedlock, argued that he was a pretermitted son of the deceased. To support this contention, Powell
presented a posthumous paternity test of the decedent showing parentage. The trial court admitted the
DNA test but another heir of the decedent challenged whether a posthumous DNA test could be used
in probate proceedings. The Supreme Court determined that posthumous paternity tests were
admissible in probate proceedings, holding it is illogical

John Jackson D-Day Essay
A long time ago in 1942 when the nations of the world have once again for the second time engaged in
a world war. Men were once again sent to war and had to leave their families to fight a war for
whatever country or nation they came from. Some men were paratroopers that were flown in by plane.
However, some men did not always have safe travels to their destinations and were often separated
from their squad if they even managed to fall safely to the ground and survive the barrage of gunfire
from the enemies below. There were some American paratroopers that ran into these problems when
they were dropped into D day. One of them was named John Jackson. John Jackson was on one of the
first planes heading to the beaches where one of the greatest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

John had 3 kids with her that he had watched by his parents while he went off to war. His main
objective now is to not end up like his other squad mates and die at the hands of the germans. The
desire became stronger as he stared at the bodies of his dead squad mates. The blood flowing out like a
river. The cold dead look on their faces. The men find an abandoned house to try and radio call for
help. As they were trying to make the call they heard men speaking in german again. The voices were
near by. John went to look out the window and counted ten men armed with rifles and submachine
guns. The three men froze upon seeing the sight of the angry germans. John s mind turned blank and
he was unable to think of a plan to get the three of them out of this if they were discovered by the
germans. But just then an M2 Sherman tank came mowing down any trees that came in its path and
shot down the germans with machine gun fire. Tears of joy stream down John s face at the sight of
seeing a friendly tank with a bright yellow sun behind it. The nightmare was over and the darkness
from the night has fallen. The three men have survived and are fortunate enough to return home to
their families. John will get to see his kids once again in a happy and safe

Positive And Negative Effects Of Censorship In Society
Censorship is the suppression, alteration, or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, music, etc.
that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Censorship is an action
that has been performed for many years on several subjects of the world, and it is still happening
today. Although censorship is an action occurred on many subjects, music is one of the biggest
censorship problems in today s world. Music can have both positive and negative effects on a person
in society. Either way, music shapes everyday lives of people around the world. Censorship of music
is crucial in today s society for protecting moral values, little children, and keeping music that has bad
influences on others out of society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Protecting the young people in today s society is important because they are the future, if they are
raised right, it will be carried on to their kids and so on. Censorship of music in the United States dates
back to the 1800 s after the Civil War when people in the south were banned from singing confederate
songs. And censorship of music is still happening today. With music uncensored, little kids and
adolescents are likely to think that everything they hear in the music they listen to is acceptable in
today s society. Many songs in today s society mention use of drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, cursing,
and mistreatment of others. If people of today s society want our future generations to be fine with
these traits and acceptable with wrong things happening in our world, vote for no censorship.
Listening to society s songs uncensored will influence kids to be active in violence, drugs, alcohol,
and other disrespectful activities at a younger age. This will impact our world to continue to roll down
hill in the act of violence and war. If uncensorship impacts the world, our future generations will have
no morals, everything will be ok. We will work ourselves to a Fahrenheit 451 society. Suicide, not
doing anything, relying on society to take care of you, and sitting on butts all day doing absolutely

Marketing Plan For A Franchise Company Essay
INTRODUCTION
A franchise is a right granted to an individual or group to market a company s goods or services within
a certain territory or location. Some examples of today s popular franchises are McDonald s, Subway,
Domino s Pizza, and the UPS Store. There are many different types of franchises. Many people
associate only fast food businesses with franchising. In fact, there are over 120 different types of
franchise businesses available today, including automotive, cleaning maintenance, health fitness,
financial services, and pet related franchises. The franchisee must follow certain rules and guidelines
already established by the franchisor, and in most cases the franchisee must pay an ongoing franchise
royalty fee, as well as an up front, one time franchise fee to the franchisor. Franchising has become
one of the most popular ways of doing business in today s marketplace. In most states you cannot
drive three blocks without seeing a nationally recognized franchise company.
PART A
TYPE OF FRANCHISING (P C 1.1)
(1) SINGLE PRODUCT SERVICE: Single unit franchising is the most likely place a brand new
entrepreneur would begin. In this type of franchise, the franchisee would only be responsible for
running one unit. However he or she would be extremely involved with all of the daily operations of
the business. Example: Toyota.
(2) MANUFACTURING AND WHOLESALE: In this type of franchising franchisor usually provides
extensive training and support to the suppliers

  • 2. Mozart Essay Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart This paper discusses Mozart s life, his compositions and his importance to the world and the world of music. It explains how Mozart s music is still some of the most popular classical music played today and his life is still studied because his music is so well known and liked. An Austrian composer and performer who showed astonishing precocity as a child and was an adult virtuoso, musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born to Leopold Mozart and Anna Maria Pertl in Salzburg, Austria on January 27, 1756. Leopold Mozart was a successful composer and violinist and served as assistant concertmaster at the Salzburg court. While in Italy, Mozart completed another opera, Mitridate, re di Ponto, received a papal audience, passed admission tests to the Accademia Filarmonica, and performed many concerts. Mozart then returned to Salzburg, but traveled to Italy for two shorter journeys in October 1771 and October 1772 through March 1773. During this time he completed two more operas, Ascanio in Alba (1771) and Lucio Silla (1772), eight symphonies, four divertimentos, and several other works. Archbishop von Schrattenbach, who was a great supporter of Mozart, died in 1771 and was succeeded by Hieronymus von Colloredo. Although Archbishop Colloredo was a less generous employer, Mozart continued in his Salzburg post and worked diligently from 1775 to 1777. However, in an effort to secure a better position, Mozart obtained leave from Salzburg, and set out with his mother in 1777. They traveled through Munich, Augsburg, and Mannheim, but Mozart was not offered a post. The next year they continued on to Paris, where Mozart composed the Paris Symphony. In Paris, Mozart s mother fell ill and soon after the symphony s premiere, she died. Several months later, Mozart returned to Salzburg and was given the post of court organist as well as Konzertmeister. He produced numerous works during this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Neil Macdonald s Article On The Issue With Canadian Politics Neil MacDonald s article on the issue with Canadian politics is filled with the richest form of sarcasm that pinpoints exactly how juvenile this topic truly is. In my article that I choose, MacDonald takes a look at the issue of the nigab and other Muslim related topics and how the current Canadian politics is strategically creating an invisible barrier between Muslims and Canadians. I will first start off with a brief summary of the article followed by how Edward Said and Jasmine Zine discuss what is currently happening with the niqab. Summary: In MacDonald s article, The barbaric cultural practice of election pronouncements, he looks at how the current Canadian political election has created this barrier between Muslims and Canadians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Said had looked into how the West had put a distinction to isolate the Orient from themselves. This would have by usually putting them in a viewpoint as having more barbaric and savage values then the West. This is clearly seen in the article that MacDonald had written. MacDonald finds that the current Election has created a barrier making a distinction between Muslims and putting them as the outsiders. In the article MacDonald finds that many times it is not just saying it bluntly rather it is quick jabs at Muslims. [...] We were reminded by the immigration minister [...] that Canada now has something called the Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Act. (MacDonald, 2015) Of course, many can argue that the immigration minister was not directly attacking Muslims and yet when one reads the word barbaric, they connate help but think about the barbaric actions that happen almost everyday in the Middle East. Although Said didn t directly look into gender orientalism he had made a great point in his article when discussing how the West view woman in an Oriental society. • 4. How Does Modern Life Evolve Over Millions Of Years Or Was... Did modern life evolve over millions of years or was it created by God? The controversy started when Charles Darwin published his book On the Origin of Species. His theory of evolution stated that all life evolved from a single celled organism. However, creationists rejected this theory. They referenced the Bible s Book of Genesis for the historical account of how life was created. But without a doubt, there is undeniable evidence to support the fact that life on earth came from a common ancestor. With the recent advances in both science and technology, scientists can use fossil records, genetic changes and anatomical similarities to prove that life as we know it evolved from one common ancestor. The remains and imprints of organisms found in earlier geological periods are still preserved in sedimentary rocks. These fossil records allow scientists to look through vast periods of time and attest to the fact that some species have transitional traits found in larger groups of organisms. This proves that species evolved from a distant ancestor and were not fixed there by God. Animals such as apes and the Archaeopteryx are evidence of the missing links and the gaps humanity has filled in the fossil records. They are also examples of transitional species that have tied different groups of species together through common traits and skeletal features. Fossil records also prove that single celled organisms were succeeded by multi celled organisms which ties back to Charles Darwin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This allows for the visualisation of DNA by adding fluorescent dye SYBR Green to the gel loading dye which was then added to the restriction digest. These results belong to Jessica and Vince in Group 13. My results did not provide clear bands above the top maker, which may be a result of the restriction digest not working properly. However, these results below illustrate two clear bands of each of the digested plasmids and the bands are below the top maker. The identity of the plasmid fragment in plasmid 1 at 1122 bp is established to be Integrin. The identity of the plasmid fragment in plasmid 2 at 501 bp is determined to be VEGF. The isolated DNA plasmid is quantitated using UV absorbance and SYBR Green fluorescent methods. The concentration of plasmids 1 and 2, using UV absorbance, was established to be 3227 µg/mL and 3951 µg/mL, respectively. This method also determines the 260/280 ratio for plasmid 1 which was 1.390 and for plasmid 2 which was 1.342. Furthermore, the plasmids are both contaminated with proteins. The SYBR Green fluorescent method is more accurate than the UV absorbance method since it is more specific for double stranded DNA molecules. Therefore, the SYBR Green assay results are lower than those obtained in the UV absorbance and are estimated to be 163 µg/mL and 202 µg/mL, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We ve created a machine that can go beyond human knowledge. Mankind now depend a lot on technology... Skinner s in his quote, The real problem is not whether machines think but whether men do. After studying this unit in history and literature classes I believe that technology hinders society and our personal life. The impact of technology has hindered society and mankind. Technology is a hindered to man kind because it is taking out all the skills humans have to do. While a machine does all the work, humans get to sit around controlling or doing another task that isn t as skillful as what the machine is doing. In the story The Machine Stops, people s lives are controlled by the machine. For example, in the passage it states, There were buttons and switches everywhere buttons to call for food for music, for clothing. (Forster, pg.3). • 7. A Pair Of Silk Stockings, A Shameful Affair, And The Story... What is social expectation and how does it affects one s life? In the short stories A Pair of Silk Stockings , A Shameful Affair , and The Story of Hour by Kate Chopin from the novel The Awakening and Selected Stories of Kate Chopin, they uncover the expected roles and responsibilities of women in the early 1900s. Through imagery and diction, Chopin reveals that people tend to fall into others expectations upon their marriage and even before it, which leads to lose their personal freedom and gain desires in conflict with social expectations. First, numerous people especially women in the early 1900s fall into others expectations upon and before their marriage. In A Pair of Silk Stockings and A Shameful Affair , two of their main characters are women, and they both fall into societal expectations about them where they later lose their freedom. For example, in A Pair of Silk Stocking , Chopin targets the social expectation upon one s marriage where she describes the usual mother s responsibilities by saying A dollar or two should be added to the price usually paid for Janie s shoes, which would insure their lasting an appreciable time longer than they usually did () As Chopin utilizes imagery, this infers an image of what Mrs. Sommers plans to do as a mother, who she carefully plan her money to buy new clothes for her children. Moreover, the word insures means to arrange compensation for damage that is done to the event, whereas the word appreciable means large enough to be noticed. Yet, both connotes a stable lasting which further reveal that one of the mother s roles that is expected by the society is to know how use the money wisely for their children without falling in debt. Thus, the responsibilities of a mother have overloaded her where she later turn in self indulgent. Likewise, Chopin not only portrays how women fall into others expectations upon their marriage yet they also fall into it before their marriage. In the short story A Shameful Affair , the author describes the primary character as Mildred Kraummer, who she falls in love with the one of the farmhands. While Mildred meets him fishing, they accidentally give a kiss where the author narrates He kissed her lips... Shame ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Film And American Culture Essay The relationship between film and the American culture is one, which is highly complicated and dynamic. Movie director in Hollywood are constantly influenced by world events to create movies, which entertain, and at times shed light on certain events. Film is also an integral part of our culture because it provides a medium, which can reflect our public s concerns, attitudes, and beliefs. This report will briefly discuss the interplay between film and the American culture, which is represented in said film. During the late 1940 s and into the 1950 s, film reflected the conservatism, which dominated the sociopolitical arenas of the time. America was at war with the axis powers in Germany, Italy and Japan. War films during this era depicted a we versus them attitude. These films simply involved an antagonist and a hero. Until the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, American films generally reflected, the neutral, isolationist stance that prevailed in politics and culture (Lordbucket.org, 2012) Films like Casablanca which was directed by Michael Curtiz, painted an image of ill effects of fascism. • 11. Descriptive Adjectives Analysis of Descriptive Adjectives in Two Stories In any story, the reader needs some way of imagining what the author is writing about. When writing, authors use descriptive words to illustrate what they are trying to convey to the reader and to enhance their story. In the stories The Treasure of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers and The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, both authors use descriptive words to develop the mood of the setting and the characters. In The Treasure of Lemon Brown, Myers uses descriptive words to describe the setting, characters, and also the mood. He used such words in a scene from the story where the main character, Greg, is walking down an empty street and is looking for shelter from a thunderstorm. The phrase, Graffiti scarred building...grim shadows. is used to describe the buildings around him. These words are used to set up the depressed or ominous mood of the setting, by using words such as scarred and grim. Those particular words cause it to seem as though the graffiti is old and permanent, as if the neighborhood has been this way for a while, and will remain that way: gloomy and depressed. Furthermore, Myers uses these descriptive words to describe Lemon Brown when he writes, His black, heavily wrinkled face was surrounded by a halo of crinkly white hair and whiskers that seemed to separate his head from the layers of dirty coats piled on his small frame. From this the reader can tell that this is an aged man, who is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nt1330 Unit 7 Igm Based on the comparison Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3, we identified following set of categories on which we would like to evaluate the above tools and computing paradigm in subsequent sub sections: 4.1.1. Distributed Computation, Scalability and Parallel Computation As we can see from the comparison tables, all computing tools provide these facilities. Hadoop distributes data as well as computing via transferring it to various storage nodes. Also, it linearly scales by adding a number of nodes to computing clusters but shows a single point failure. Cloudera Impala also quits execution of the entire query if a single part of it stops. IBM Netezza and Apache Giraph whereas does not have single point failure. In terms of parallel computation IBM Netezza is fastest due to hardware built parallelism. 4.1.2. Real Time Query, Query Speed, Latency Time The Hadoop employs MapReduce paradigm of computing which targets batch job processing. It does not directly support the real time query execution i.e OLTP. Hadoop can be integrated with Apache Hive that supports HiveQL query language which supports query firing, but still not provide OLTP tasks (such as updates and deletion at row level) and has late response time (in minutes) due to absence of pipeline ... • 13. Ipv6 And Ipv6 Address Resolution Protocol Since there are so many IP addresses that need to be handled on the Internet, IPv4 and IPv6 need a way to keep track and configure them. This is normally referred to as address resolution. This includes translating network layer addresses into link layer addresses, having automatic assignments of addresses, and routing data to the correct location on a specific network. IPv4 uses a protocol called Address Resolution Protocol, or ARP, in order to translate IP addresses into MAC addresses. A MAC address is the unique number given to the network interface card in each computing device. The reason this needs to be done is because on many intranet networks, the internal communication and delivery of data is based off of the MAC address rather than the IP address. The Dynamic Host Control Protocol, or DHCP, handles the automatic configuration and assignment of IP addresses in IPv4. DHCP is an internal protocol that takes the MAC addresses of the NICs on a network, and automatically assigns IP addresses. It also keeps track of them so that two NICs don t acquire the same IP address. Without DHCP every IP address would have to be entered manually by the system administrator, which would be incredibly difficult considering how many devices can potentially access a network. IPv6 uses similar methods to perform both of those functions, but there are still important differences that exist to improve the way that IPv6 performs. Instead of ARP, IPv6 uses the Neighbor Discovery Protocol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Be that as it may, in the last two decades, it has been faced with an unprecedented decline in population growth while struggling with the issue of an aging population. Indeed, from Helsinki to Lisbon, the birth rate has fallen dramatically in recent years. It has fallen so much so that most countries have put together some form of policies to help mitigate what is perceived as a serious demographic crisis in european capitals. Those policies have yielded different results. While some countries like France are now experiencing a slow growth rate as a result of those policies, others in the likes of Germany are forced to still deal with an ever declining population. In this paper, I will be analyzing, comparing, and contrasting the policies in both countries. Since the end of the second world war, Germany has had undeniable economic performances. Unlike its european counterparts, It has extremely low unemployment, record trade surpluses and a healthy public accounts. However, the fact remains that the long term outlook of its population is less positive as its population continues to decline while the portion of the its aging population surpases the younger part. The findings of a focus group are valuable only if the researcher analyses the information in a fair and unbiased manner, which is, unfortunately, not always the case. It is not unheard of for some researchers to filter out what they don t want to hear, create presentations based on what they think they have heard, or in fact, not analyse the information at all. The Autobiography Look Me The Eye By John Elder Robison Courage George Carlin, an American stand up comedian and author, once said, I like it when a flower or a little tuft of grass grows through a crack in the concrete. It s so f****n heroic. The autobiography Look Me in the Eye by John Elder Robison is a memoir about a man s strange aloofness towards others, but also the difficulties he has had to over come and the courage he needed to get through them. This story gives a glimpse into the life of an Aspergergian as he likes to call himself. Aspergers syndrome is a form of autism that affects the ability to effectively socialize and communicate. This syndrome generated a vast majority of complications all throughout his life. During his childhood, John is a social outcast. He does not know how to befriend people, and he is very blunt and rude to his peers. This makes it very difficult for him to create bonds with people, but he did occasionally become acquainted with the other outcasts such as his friend named Jeff. Robinson s teenage years were even worse. John was labeled as the class clown and began to fail school even though he was very smart he just did not care anymore; consequently, this lead him into the path of dropping out of school. However, after he quit school he had started working for a small band fixing their EQ amps. This was good for John because it gave him a chance to interact more with people while making money and traveling. After that, he started working for successful bands like KISS and Pink ... • 22. Small Universities Vs Smaller Universities Smaller Universities vs. Larger Universities Millions of students attend various universities every semester. Some students choose to go to smaller universities because they might be close to home, and some students decide to go with the larger ones due to the desire to be a part of the campus life or the longing to join a sorority/fraternity; maybe they like classes that contain about 300 other peers. Students often debate whether they should attend a smaller university or a larger university; however, when the two are contrasted, it becomes clear that smaller universities have more opportunities offered. One important issue that deeply impacts a student s education are the class sizes. Bigger universities tend to obtain classes consisting of 100 to about 600 classmates. This has the ability to negatively affect an individual because they might be behind on a subject due to lack of understanding and are too afraid to ask a question in front of a full class (which mostly happens because they do not want to appear unintelligent to the other undergrads). On the other hand, if the student attended a smaller university, the class sizes would be about 20 50 students, putting less pressure on a person to request assistance (Hyman and Jacobs). Another concern is a professor s teaching techniques. As stated, class sizes are a problem not only for the students, but also the professors. If the class is huge, the professor will not be able to look at one student as an individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reformers passed these provisions in response to corruption, which culminated in Watergate 1972 presidential campaign (Wright, 1003). The reformers found that these excesses were fueled by contributions collected for political gain. Their goal was to protect the political process from distortion and corruption (Wright, 1003). Money also caused for the reform of campaign finance. Money does facilitate communication of political preferences and prejudice (Wright, 1004). It also does influence the outcome of elections. • 25. Gender Voting Rights In The Search For Equal Rights Since the beginning of time women have been viewed as inferior to men. Slowly, women have chipped away at this social construct from protesting for voting rights to joining the armed forces. Although women have made great advances in the search for equal rights, there are still many drawbacks even in the 21st century. Gender wage gap, double standards, and social media still threaten to hinder women in their everyday lives. Women have become more present in occupations traditionally male dominated. However, in 2015, a woman made 83% of what a man made. At this rate, it would take a woman 44 extra days of work to earn the same amount as a man. Why is this? Women continue to be more commonly present in lower paying jobs. This could be a big contributor to the pay gap. Another reason could be gender discrimination. According to a survey in 2013 by the Pew Research Center, women were two more times as likely to say they had been discriminated against at work (Brown and Patten). Another problem for women is lack of respect. Too often are men respected or congratulated for things that women are shamed for. For one example, women are endlessly shamed for having too many sexual partners. However, if a man has sexual relations with many women he is applauded. A woman s appearance is considered very important in today s culture. A woman who did not wake up and do her hair and makeup is often seen as lazy or a slob. • 27. In OFDM systems, only a one user can transmit on all of the subcarriers at any given time, and time division multiple access (TDMA) or frequency division multiple access (FDMA) is used to support multiple users. The major disadvantage of this static multiple access scheme is that the fact that the different users perform differently in the same given wireless channel is not being taken in consideration. OFDMA, on the other hand, allows multiple users to transmit simultaneously on the different subcarriers per OFDM symbol at any given time. Since the users perform differently in the channel probability that all users experience the same fade in a particular subcarrier is very low, though it can be assured that the subcarriers are assigned to the users who sees good channel gains on them. While allowing simultaneous access to multiple users to the medium OFDMA has been shown to reduce multi path fading, within air interfaces in the IEEE 802.16 standard. The main advantages of using this multicarrier technology are: higher data rates, longer transmission distance, and better mobility support. Due to the fact that OFDMA divides the available frequency spectrum into several orthogonal subcarriers, inter symbol and inter carrier interference are minimized, or even eradicated. Also, the assignment of these subcarriers to different users for transmission can be done dynamically, both in frequency and time dimension. This flexibility provides a way of boosting ... It stresses the idea that a person is an individual and is unique. Humanists look at behavior through the eyes of the person, not as an observer. Everyone needs to be treated differently based on their unique personality. They believe that a person s behavior is determined by their perception of the world around them, not their environment or genetics. Humanism begins with the belief that people have free will, or personal agency as it s called in humanism, and that all people are inherently good. It is believed that everyone wants to make themselves and the world a better place. They have a natural born drive to fulfill their maximum potential. Humanism emphasizes personal worth and basic human values. Humanists are not concerned about instinctual drive, external forces, or past experiences. Instead humanists use the ideas of love, fulfillment, self worth, and independence to help people as they are the basic human wants. Humanism rose to prominence in the mid 20th century. American psychologists Abraham Maslow and Clark Moustakas met with other psychologists in 1957 and 1958 to discuss developing an organization devoted to a different approach to mainstream psychology. They wanted self actualization, creativity, health and individuality to be the major focuses of the approach. In 1961, with assistance from Brandeis University, the ... Television represented a new opportunity to bring not only audio like radio but to place an image in every home.
