Squid Vs Octopi
Squid and Octopi are two mysterious creatures of the sea which many people lack knowledge of. They
both have many amusing similarities and differences when it comes to their homes, diets, and physical
aspects. These two sea creatures relate in many ways, however there are countless unique
characteristics between them.
Being some of the most brilliant animals of the sea, Octopi are invertebrates which means that they do
not have a single bone in their bodies. They are usually hidden away in caves or dens near the sea
floor and spend most of their lifetimes alone. During pregnancy, many mothers become very weak due
to a lack of food and nutrition, and pass away not being able to be present throughout their children s
lifetimes. Octopi are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with octopi, squid are also cephalopods and contain three hearts. Unlike octopi, squid have two
fins on their head and have a stiff structure called a pen that acts like a flexible spine. These fins are
used for the squid to slowly move about throughout the ocean. Rather than being alone and
independent like the octopus, squid are found in schools and tend to stay together throughout their
short lifetimes. Squid eat a combination of different species of fish and shrimp and may even go to the
point of eating other squid if food is scarce. Both animals are located in salty, warm waters near the
temperate zones where there is an abundance of food. One main difference between them is how they
catch their prey. Octopi bring in their prey by piercing them and injecting it with a venom through
their suckers that paralyzes the victim. Squid use their two longest tentacles to catch fish and shrimp
and shred it with their sharp tongue while the prey is still alive. Another similarity between them is
that they both have a mantle. The mantle helps protect the organism by creating a shell around the
internal organs. Size weighs in a great deal with both of the animals. Octopi can range anywhere from
one centimeter to five meters and can weigh up to one hundred and fifty pounds. Squid can be from a
few inches to sixty feet long and weigh over a

Narrative Voice In Lot s Wife
The depiction of the characters is a vital aspect of Szymborska s works. This is notable in the poems
Lot s Wife and The Terrorist, He s Watching (see Appendix 1). This depiction of the characters is
influenced by many literary techniques, one being narrative voice. Narrative voice can be defined as
the eyes the reader sees a story through. This is separated into three distinct types: first, second and
third person. First person is typically told from the perspective of the main character, second person
addresses the main character as you and third person refers to the characters as he or she. Third person
can either be omniscient; knowing an unlimited amount of information about all characters, events and
conflicts in the story, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem commences with a third person narrative voice. This persona describes the terrorist as
enjoying the moment, The terrorist has already crossed the street. / The distance keeps him out of
danger, / and what a view just like the movies: (5 7). By describing the situation as movie like, it
shows that the terrorist values his life over others as he situates himself at a distance where he can
observe safely. This idea is also expressed through the fact that the language is factual, observational
and unemotional, conveying the emotional detachment of the terrorist towards the pain and suffering
he will inflict. The use of language in this is vastly different to that of Lot s Wife with the contrast of
emotional language and factual language. The descriptions of the individuals are detached with
mundane characteristics, such as the crummy gloves (26), only being mentioned. This creates the
sense that these individuals are less important than him, showing that the terrorist looks down on
them. Throughout the piece, there is a sense of dramatic irony, with the terrorist knowing something
that the people entering and exiting the bar don t. This introduces the idea that the terrorist perceives
this situation as comedic. This idea is continued with the use of time intervals marking the countdown
of the detonation.

Topic 1: It is hard imagine people can live without friends.
Many people have said that we can t live without friends. I totally agree with this point of view. There
are many reasons why I support this idea.
First of all, we do not live alone. As human being, we have a need in sharing our feeling both
happingess and sadness. There is a saying that sorrow shared is sorrow halved, andjoy shared is joy
double . This world and life will be nothing if we do not have any friends nearby.Secondly, friends can
bring us joys and happiness. Friends also heip and give us good advice when we meet difficulties or

It is obviously to see that there is a lot of traffic congestion in big cities these days. However, solving
this problem is not easy at all.In my opinion we have to do three immediate measures in order to solve

Essay about Birth and Demise in The League of Nations
Birth and Demise in The League of Nations
They say time is a great teacher. How true. History has taught us that peace must be kept at all costs.
The tragic story of the League of Nations centers around the man who conceived it and offered it to
the world. The man who developed its charter and who died from exhaustion after his own country,
the United States, refused to ratify it in the senate . On November eleventh, 1918 an armistice was
declared in Europe. The President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, saw this as an opportunity
to form an international organization of peace. The league was brought forth to provide security
against future wars. However, the league did not fulfill the hopes of it s founders, it did not ... Show

The American President s speech was the force that leads to the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on
June 28, 1919. Conversely, after congress had voted, only three of Wilson s fourteen points were
accepted without compromise and six of the others were rejected altogether. The reason for this
uncertainty by the congress was because, the Fourteen Points were all couched in broad, rather vague
terms, well designed to serve their propaganda purpose, but hardly suited to the negotiations of which
in the sequel, they were to become the basis . Wilson wanted the League of Nations because he
believed that World Wars would continue to occur as long as each nation was responsible for their
own defense. Wilson wanted the nations of the world to stand together in the League of Nations, and
promise to defend the territory and freedom of any member attacked by another nation. Wilson
believed that in order to keep peace the League needed the authority to impose economic sanctions
against aggressor states but the League did not have any military forces to back up these economic
threats. He believed that even a powerful nation, knowing that it would face combined opposition of
all the powerful nations, would not go to war. In Europe, Wilson also met some confrontation with the
Fourteen points. The

Indentured Servants Essay
In the seventeenth century, slaves and indentured servants were considered property. The difference
between the two groups of people, is slavery lasted a lifetime while indentured servants labor lasted
for four to six years until the servant were able to pay their owner back. So under these circumstances,
slaves and indentured servants lives were very similar but also different. Based on their clothing and
the skills they had, slaves and indentured servant lifestyles were different. Clothing seemed like a
huge factor in the ads in 1738, because it showed the difference between a slave and indentured
servant. Both of these groups could not choose what type of clothing they had or pick different outfits.

Homosexuality And The Effects Of The Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Riots highlighted a key issue in the late 1960s American society. Homosexuality was
often seen as an illness and a sin to most people. For example, in April 1952 homosexuality was
deemed a sociopathic mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (CNN). This idea was
heightened in American society because it was being taught that being gay was one of the worst things
an American can be; showing videos such as Boys Beware . This all changed after the conflict at the
Stonewall Inn; located in New York on Christopher Street. The Stonewall Inn was the place where
gays and lesbians would flock to, to feel accepted for once in their lives as many of them ran away or
were disowned by their own families. Even though Stonewall was a place of freedom, it was also a
place for fear as the police would constantly raid the bar to make sure that alcohol was not being
served to gays, as the New York State Liquor Authority deemed it illegal to serve homosexuals.
Lasting only three days, the riots were able to help start the transformation of American society to
become what it is today. The lack of a formal compromise between the nation and the LGBT
community was an advantage for the effects of Stonewall to spread as the conflict was able to bring a
wave of acceptance and pushed many of history s gay role models to feel inspired to stand up.
Unlike most issues in history there was no compromise for the Stonewall Riots. After the American
Revolution, the Treaty of Paris was there to help regulate the tension between America and England,
but for Stonewall it was just met with messy streets that needed to be cleaned up, injuries on both
sides, and the realization that there was a need for change. Treaties or compromises often come with
rigid details that confine the parties involved to follow very strict rules. For example, The Treaty of
Paris divided the land in North America between Spain, Britain, and the colonist, kicking the French
off the continent entirely (Treaty of Paris). If the events of Stonewall were subject to the confinements
that a compromise brings to a situation its strong influence and reach that it had would have ultimately
been cut short. The Gay Liberation Front is a prime example

Military Child Essay

FINAL DRAFT
Military Child: Brat
Pure hell took its course on me as a young innocent girl. Being a military brat definitely impacted my
life in many challenging ways. The term military brat is usually misunderstood by non military
population. A military brat is a child from a parent who is in the military. My mother was a
commanding officer which made me and my siblings labeled military brat The word brat (by itself)
may seem negative. However, we were taught that its not an insult but actually a term of endearment
and respect. Of course the military has a lot of traveling, family orientated, many free services, and
good food. Being a military brat was not all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we moved she would distribute more lashings. My mother was mean and called her discipline tough
love . Yeah right, my ass it wasn t tough love. She could dissemble my door frame in five minutes
taking away my privacy when I would slam my door from anger.
She would turn off the electricity to my room so that there was no TV, curling irons, games, or any
luxury. The more my mother was a bitch the more I rebelled with braking my curfew, sneaking out,
hiding her badge, taking her files and hiding them. The consequences of misbehavior for a military
brat are generally greater than for a civilian children.
Being labeled a brat was not a choice by any means. However, due to the challenges I endured it has
shaped and molded me into the woman I am today. A woman with values, strength, great friendships,
and unconditional love for all. No longer that innocent girl thanks to the military who robbed me of
that innocence. And It makes want to spit when someone refers to me as a military brat. It s not a word
that means endearment or respect as we were taught.

Hip Hop, A Popular Genre Of Music
Hip Hop is a subcultural movement that formed in the early 1970s by African American, Caribbean
and Latino youths. It wasn t until the late 1980s that it became popular outside of the African
American community and by the 2000s it became the most popular genre of music. However, the
subculture has evolved through out the years and the comparison between then and now is growing
increasingly big. Hip Hop in the 80s consisted of music, dance, creativity and artistry. It also allowed
people an avenue to express themselves and deliver a sense of their surroundings and backgrounds
whether that was positive or negative. As well as this bringing communities together, it also drove
them apart as expressing yourself got competitive and with hip hop being a music form. People would
start to offend each other through lyrics, by pointing out disadvantages. This culture was now so
competitive that violence started to outbreak due to people taking it to serious and this brought so
much bad attention towards it, to be a rapper was basically classing yourself as a criminal.
Unfortunately, how most people remember hip hop may be distorted through the prevalence of
violence in the hip hop culture, whether heard in lyrics, seen from artists or in the media s
representation of artist beef. (Janeé, L. 2015) The fashion statement within this subculture was heavily
frowned upon due to its strong relation to gangs and how they dressed. It consisted of over sized
tracksuits, hoodies, baggy jeans

The Ford Mustang s First Phony Car
The Ford Mustang is widely credited with launching the pony car segment, appropriately named for
this trend setting steed. But two weeks prior to its April 17, 1964, launch, the Chrysler Corporation
introduced the Plymouth Barracuda, what quickly became one of the Mustang s top competitors.
While some insist the Barracuda was America s first pony car, on closer inspection a compelling
argument can be made that it was not.
A New Segment for Young Drivers
Sport coupes weren t anything new when the Ford Mustang made an early debut for the 1965 model
year. What was different with the Mustang and similar models was its relatively compact size,
featuring a long hood, a short rear deck and available small V8 engines.
The youth oriented look and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But on closer inspection, the original Mustang shares much with another model, notably the Ford
Falcon.
Indeed, when the Mustang was designed, it was derived from the Falcon s platform, although there are
distinct differences in sheet metal, wheelbase size, width and height, along with standard front bucket
seats. Further, the Mustang offered a three on the floor manual transmission to the Falcon s three
speed automatic. Similarities included the Mustang s standard 200 cubic foot inline six engine with a
one barrel carburetor (optional in the Falcon), steering, rear suspension, and differential.
The Mustang s options list was what set this model further apart from the Falcon (as well as the
Barracuda), including items which define the original steed best in most people s eyes, namely a 271
horsepower V8, four speed manual transmission, special handling package, limited slip differential,
and front disc brakes. These features along with unique exterior styling and interior layout differences
underscore that Ford took greater care to separate the Mustang from the Falcon than did Plymouth
with the Barracuda and Valiant.

Early Christian Religion Research Paper
The early Christian church made no distinction between sin and suffering, and repentance and healing.
(p. 34) The Scripture equates sickness with unclean spirits and demonic activity. Early Christians
understood the relationship between sin and sickness and acted accordingly (see James 5:14,15). Jesus
taught the disciples the relationship between sin and sickness. In the early church repentance and
healing went hand in hand. Unfortunately, in today s church the first call of a sick Christian is to their
doctor or hospital. We have turned to the secular world for a healing, which they cannot offer. Satan s
footprint is everywhere in the medical field. I am reminded of a Scripture, which says that man is

Increase Proportion Of Nurses With Baccalaureate Degree
Increase proportion of nurses with baccalaureate degree by 2020 If one can stop for a few minutes and
imagine a doctor s office, a hospital, and a nursing home without nurses, you can easily see the
important role that a nurse plays in society. It s not far fetched to believe that fewer nurses can shorten
our lifespan. Imagine a hospital stay or a surgery without nurses. Imagine your chances of infection
and a successful recovery without the constant care that nurses provide in the absence of the doctor
and in many cases, in the presence of the doctor. For acute care patients fewer or no nurses can be a
matter of life and death. Nurses take pride in the practice of their profession they care for people, not
the medical condition. They are passionate about patient advocacy, support reform of the health
delivery system and go the extra mile when patient care appears endless. When the Institute of

Health, many nurses felt affirmed by the spotlight this prestigious group placed on nursing. The reality
is the newly designed healthcare requirements by President Obama will lead to millions of previously
uninsured Americans needing care that nurses can provide. These growing demands lend themselves
to different types of care providers under the nursing umbrella. There are: LPNs, nursing assistants,

Comparing The Position In Scots Law Regarding Pre-Nuptial...
The position in Scots law regarding pre nuptial agreement is in total opposition compared to its
neighbour s. In fact, marital agreements generally speaking have never been deemed contrary to
public policy . By contrast, it is trite law that parties are free to enter into nuptial agreements as they
see fit . And as early as 1985, it was clear that parties may by agreement oust the jurisdiction of the
court . In other words, in Scotland marital agreements, called minutes of agreements , are binding
legal contracts that are enforced provided that the standard requirements for the validity of contracts,
mainly capacity and consent, are met . Nuptial agreements may be entered into before or during the
marriage or after the relationship has ended, without any difference of treatment being made . ... Show

The statute limits indeed court s discretion and therefore creates an environment encouraging the
conclusion of marital agreements safe in the knowledge of the likely judicial outcome . But if the

discretion when applying the 1985 Act . Consequently, by reaching an agreement regarding the
financial provision of a future divorce, the parties avoid any disputed application of the Section 9
principles . To this extent, the specific problems encountered in Granatino v Radmacher are alien to

Women s Rights Is The Fight For Equality
Women s rights is the fight for the idea that women should have equal rights with men. Over history,
this has taken the form of gaining property rights, the women s suffrage, or the right of women to
vote, reproductive rights, and the right to work for for equal pay. Women were conditioned to be
treated like second class citizens solely because of their gender until a crucial movement in American
history during the late nineteenth century that would inspire a long fight for equality for generations to
come. The American women s movement was a tedious yet extraordinarily important movement that
challenged the social norms of a patriarchal society for their own recognition. Overall, this paper will

Declaration of Independence, which calls for equivalent treatment of women and men under the law

The main organizer of the Seneca Falls Convention was Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who is deemed as

The Pros And Cons Of The Catcher In The Rye
Did you know that you have the capability and audacity to challenge censorship? According to a 2016
study done by the American Library Association, there was been 323 cases of books being banned or
challenged across the United States. Most books are often challenged due to their use of sexual
explicitness, violence, and vulgar language. At the same time, many of these challenged books teach
moral lessons to readers. With the high number of books being challenged, not all of them should be
banned. The American Library Association provided the information stating that only 10% of books
are being challenged and taken off the shelves. This study shows that many novels are not worthy of
banning including, The Catcher in the Rye.
Written by J.D. Salinger, the book The Catcher in the Rye was published in the year 1951, and has
been the subject of constant debates and controversies. The novel has not only been the target of
ridicule and criticisms, but has also sparked an intriguing discussion on its effectiveness for use in
schools across the nation. The novel centers on the life of the sixteen year old Holden Caulfield. The
novel deals with issues such as profanity, irrational behavior, and teenage sex and has many
appropriate lessons to teenagers and youth as it teaches readers the benefits of tolerance, discipline,
religion, and rational behavior. It in particular teaches the youth that desirable behavior is more

Fall Choir Concert Analysis
I am not afraid to admit that I talk to my mother on the phone every day. Naturally, I told her that I
would be attending the Fall Choir Concert, and by reading her the selection of songs, I was not only
surprised by her own rendition of Rabbit of Seville, but she also sent me the video of Bugs Bunny
himself belting out the silly ditty. If one is not already aware, Rabbit of Seville, is a short animation bit
released by Warner Bros. In the scene, Bugs Bunny lures Elmer Fudd (everyone s favorite hunter with
a speech impediment) onto a stage. The curtains rise and he aggressively cuts Fudd s hair while
performing a mock melody from the overture of the opera buffa The Barber of Seville by Gioachino
Rossini. The clip reminded me of many Looney Tunes favorites from my childhood and I laughed just

boy, did the University Chorus, Chorale, and Montanans have a hard act to follow!
Prior to tonight, I had never been inside Reynolds Recital Hall let alone Howard Hall. On the night of
the concert, it was packed if not sold out. The stage was bathed in blue in the background the harsh
gels glared like a cloudless sky on a hot day. Center stage held a grand piano, but the intensity of the
blue light was not present. Instead, golden lights paled the light and set the mood of the stage as calm
and serene. Three different choirs crossed the stage and each brought wonderous sound, flawless

ABSTRACT Presented within is a synopsis of the conceptual design, analysis and testing of a
camless engine (CLE) with an electro hydraulic valve train. The system makes use of a piezoelectric
controlled hydraulic actuator. This actuator serves as a replacement for the camshaft in an internal
combustion engine (ICE). In essence, the actuator is an electro hydraulic device capable ... Show more

The concept of variable valve timing has existed for some time. Unfortunately, the ability to achieve
truly variable valve timing has eluded automotive manufacturers. Most variable timing mechanisms
were created as tools for the automotive engineer. Their use was limited to the laboratory as a means
of testing multiple, virtual cam profiles. These early camless engines allowed for the designers to
choose the best cams for the engine under scrutiny, but were less than energy efficient. Furthermore,
they were laboratory machines and were not capable of being mass produced or utilized in an
automobile. There have been a few attempts at developing production models of camless engines,
most notably by Ford, but the use of solenoids has impeded their implementation. Using solenoids to
control hydraulic fluid and ultimately the opening and closing of the engine valves introduces its own
limitations. The solenoids consume considerable energy and are a binary control device they are either
on or off. Therefore the hydraulic fluid, controlled
LIMITATIONS OF THE CAM: NEED FOR VARIABLE VALVE TIMING
Automobile manufacturers have recognized the compromises associated with
by the solenoids, is either flowing or blocked. This design allows for some variance of valve timing,
but is still limited by the response capabilities of the solenoids. Furthermore, it cannot directly address
valve velocity or displacement changes.

Picture Paris And Bicycle Thieves Similarities
Sometimes people forget that food is an art and that it has the power to move us emotionally just as
music, literature and paintings can. Picture Paris and Bicycle Thieves are two films that both employ
the usage of narrative devices hand in hand with food to develop the characters and their family
bonds. Although each narrative revolves around the central themes of food, family and dignity the two
are developed in radically different ways. The Bicycle Thieves uses the concept of neorealism to
employ the theme of hunger by focusing on the day to day struggles the Italians faced after World War
II to develop a family bond whereas in Picture Paris the theme of food is used to draw a parallel
connection between her obsession with Paris and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the entirety of Picture Paris, we are following the story as an external narrator who seems
to know all the actions of everyone, primarily of Ellen, tells it. The audience is under the impression
that this narrator is predicting what will happen to Ellen even though noting has happened to her
through an omniscient perspective. Until the very end the narrator is anyone but someone who plays a
major role in the short film. Towards the end the narrator is revealed to be an internal character, the
protagonists boyfriend. Due to this newly acquired knowledge it has the audience question the
accuracy of the story. Did Ellen really kill her husband and bake him into the Pâté or did the narrator
toy with our minds and make us think what he is revealing is the truth. Bicycle Thieves conversely
mounts the story without a narrator. Without the narrator the story is unbiased and the audience knows
without a doubt in their mind where the story is heading and that Ricci unfortunately will most likely

Persuasive Speech About Interview
I definitely bombed that interview. This sucks, I really needed this job, but after that interview there is
no way that I got the job. They will probably give it to that jerk Todd. I bet you re wondering how
such a well rounded, responsible, and qualified individual could drop the ball this badly. Zombies,

When Calls The Heart Character Analysis
I know you can t say much about your role as Carson. Instead, what was your experience like joining
the cast of When Calls the Heart and getting to play this character?
Paul: Well the producer that does When Calls the Heart also did some of my other movies. I also
worked with Andrea [Brooks], who plays Nurse Carter. She was in a film that I did with Lacey
Chabert called A Wish for Christmas. So I worked with her and she was like you have to come work
on When Calls the Heart. I had heard of it because my girlfriend and my mom were watching it over
Christmas. I also knew that Janette Oke is from the same little town in Alberta, Canada called
Champion which is where my grandma and grandpa are from. And she actually knew them. So then

There s not much music from then and it s the weirdest thing. You realize that not even 100 years ago
their music was so limited. You can kind of hear familiar sounds as to where our music maybe has
come from. But also doing the research helps. Like when Carson says he worked the chuck wagons
for the railroad, looking back at what chuck wagons were, they were the food trucks of that time. So
looking back to see what that looked like and how the kitchen was setup on a chuck wagon is fun!
Playing a period piece is a whole different thing. You get to look at the history and see how things
used to be and I really like that!
And it s great getting to create the whole history and backstory for Carson. Very little of acting is just
knowing your lines. There s a lot of stuff before hand and all the other work that you do. It s all
imagination and play. Thanks to my girlfriend, who s an amazing actor, taught me a lot of new ways to
create a backlight for the history of this character.
I know you have also modeled and it wasn t until later in life that you fully committed to acting. So
what made you leave modeling and purse acting full

Martin Luther King Speech Analysis
Throughout Martin Luther King Jr s. speech, he uses violence as a form of getting his perspective and
view across to his audience. King uses violence in order to persuade the audience for other reasons
differing from Barack Obama s view on violence. Martin Luther king brings to light the amount of
damage that violence is causing in order to pursue the audience when saying I am mindful that only
yesterday in Philadelphia, Mississippi, young people seeking to secure the right to vote were
brutalized and murdered. And only yesterday more than 40 houses of worship in the State of
Mississippi alone were bombed or burned because they offered a sanctuary to those who would not
accept segregation. (pg.1). Although this seems upsetting, King chooses to bring it to light in order to
open societies eyes and convince them that violence is destroying the world day by day. King says in
his speech I believe that wounded justice, lying prostrate on the blood flowing streets of our nations,
can be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men. (pg.2). When King
says this, it automatically gives society a reason for automatically thinking that indeed we have
violence in this world, and things should be changed immediately. King brings this to the attention of
society that he believes that we as a community can change and turn into something better. King uses
words like brutalized and murdered to convince and persuade the audience into having a different
view on why violence isn t okay while Obama uses his view on violence to persuade his audience in a
different manner. Barack Obama brings up the fact that non violence would not have put a stop to
Hitler s armies just like negotiation between the U.S. and al Qaeda s leaders wouldn t have made them
put their arms down and act any differently (pg.6). Barack Obama is trying to open up societies eyes
and give them a different viewpoint on his beliefs and how he thinks situations like the tragic
experience that Jews had to face in Auschwitz should be handled. In addition to the previous
statement, Barack Obama also talks about the fact that all nations must embrace the role that
milliteries with a clear mandate, order of commision, can have in order

Essay on Animal Rights is a Cause for Vegetarianism
Animal Rights Cause for Vegetarianism
The choice of eating meat or not has been a debated issue for a continued number of years. There have
long since been two sides: the proponents and opponents of meat consumption. More and more
debates of its value and effect on the world have risen. Many claim it is wrong, while others think of it
as a needed pleasure.
Today, a greater percentage of the population eats meat. Only a few individuals seek the alternative
route. Yet, there has been a steady rise in the number of vegetarians.
Many may already know that religions all over the world have advocated a meat free diet. While a few
are lenient, the majority is steady. The reason a vegetarian diet has been preferred over meat dates

who maintains his existence at the cost of others lives deserves to be killed for his own eternal well

There are many more such quotes from scriptures all over the world. Yet nowadays, there is just the
opposite of vegetarianism in compliance of these ancient texts.
quot;Although meat eating has been denied to the human form by God and his sons and daughters of
the past, people still adopt the process. quot;
Such are the statements of devout followers who adhere to a meat free diet in accordance to scriptural
texts.
Those who advocate vegetarianism profess that many people are weak of heart and so succumb to
meat eating. While those who advocate a meat oriented diet say that a meat diet is essential for a
normal and healthy life, for they provide protein.
[The Dutch chemist, Gerrit Jari Mulder, in his experiments, has proved in 1838, that protein is
biologically essential, for every living creature needs a certain amount to survive. This fact about
protein is due to the presence of amino acids, the building blocks quot; of life.]
While it is true that animals provide essential protein for the human body, scientific reports have
provided additional information that may seem to support a vegetarian viewpoint.
In his Book quot;Diet for Transcendence quot;, Steven Rosen states from other sources

growing up in the 90s was great, there was video games, great TV shows, and a lot of interesting

Theme Of The Whipping By Robert Hayden
Michelle Spittler Monteiro Summer 2015 ENGL 1302 6/8/2015 Child Abuse Exposed Robert Hayden
s The Whipping is a well written poem that reveals the disturbing issue of child abuse from the
unusual perspective of the abuser and the spectator. The author saw this happen with his own eyes and
his account is not meant to be beautiful, but raw and vivid to evoke emotion. This poem is about a
young boy who is being beaten with a stick by an overweight woman. A neighbor, the narrator,
remembers back to his past while he watches what is going on. Pain, violence and pity are just a few
of the themes. The fact that the author is telling this story makes the reader feel closer to the action.
This, in turn, makes the reader feel more pain and pity for the poor boy is being whipped; others may
feel sorry for the woman who is full of rage; and still others may feel pity for the neighbor ... Show

Hayden uses imagery to give the reader a better feel for what is going on. He uses sight and sound
imagery. With the use of the words, crashes, pleads and shrills , the reader can almost see a vivid
picture of what is happening. Hayden furthers the visual imagery by telling of the different plants the
boy is running through trying to get away from the enraged woman who is beating him. Line ten and
eleven describes the detachment the speaker (also the eyewitness and neighbor) places between
himself and the injustice around him, His tears are rainy weather to wound like memories. The
neighbor gazes outside his house to see what is happening and is extremely affected by them. He has
always washed his hands of it by not intervening and by ignoring the problem. The child s tears are
compared to rainy weather, but the narrator knows that the boy will eventually cease to cry, just as the
sun returns from behind a rain cloud after a storm, and the observer will be able to bury the memory

Cheerleading Discourse Community
A discourse community is is a group of people who share a set of discourses, understood as basic

Whether it be competitive, high school, collegiate or NFL cheerleading, they all have similar common

I have found multiple blogs and websites that talk about cheerleading as a discourse community, and I
came up with the topic as a personal want. I have always wanted to be a cheerleader, but never had the

it gives you a way to participate when giving and sharing new ideas and when it comes to the goals;
there is a specific lexis that only this community uses; there is a level of expertise when it comes to

Through the character of Pecola Breedlove, Toni Morrison illustrates that society has caused black
people to lose their self esteem and feel inferior to white people. All her life, Pecola is vulnerable to
the messages society carries about black people because of who she is: a black girl in her youth. The

order to feel better about themselves. Her simplicity decorated us, her guilt sanctified us, her pain

A Brief History On Two Types Of Music Education
Within this essay, you shall find a brief history on two types of Music Education, the Suzuki Method;
as well as the Dalcroze Method, as well as a breakdown of these methods. Apart from this, you will
also find a slight discussion on how I might incorporate these methods, if any, into my own teachings.
Suzuki Method The Suzuki Method was created and developed by Violin prodigy, Shinichi Suzuki,
after being asked by a colleague if he was able to teach his son. Intrigued, he set out the find out
different ways to teach children, as well as the way in which they may learned. He observed that
young children could learn the German language with ease, yet, as an adult, he was unable to fully
master the language; He also found this with his own native language of Japanese, which is quite an
intricate language. After much discussion with fellow colleagues, he concluded that young children
can and will learn their mothers native tongue through imitation, repetition and listening; that, with
some thought, he could hopefully apply this to music. Suzuki began to teach with the mentality of
Character First, Ability Second which meant that he, and the people around them, embraced the whole
child. To not only nurture their ability and love for music but to create a fine character within the
child; that music isn t just about mastering your chosen instrument. He called this way of thinking

The Importance Of Religious Freedoms In The United States
It is often stated throughout this great country that we have a right to religious freedoms. Are these
freedoms only available if they fit inside a certain box or guidelines? Often times in our country today
we see individuals who are constantly claiming their right to religious freedoms. And often times they
are denied those freedoms by the interpretation of various laws. The First Amendment of the United
States of America Constitution clearly gives us our religious freedom above and beyond all created

Yes, that s right businesses. What religious freedom does is that it fosters respect by protecting
something that more than eight in ten people worldwide, 84 percent according to a recent Pew
Research study, identify with a religious faith , (Grim, 2014), encourages peace, develops an economy,
which in turn can reduce corruption. In turn religious freedoms also encourages broader freedoms that
can contribute to positive economic development. Many argue that social development requires the
removal of sources of un freedom and restrictions on religions in such countries like Saudi Arabia and
Dubai. Religious freedom also helps with the development of an economy when religious groups are
free to operate in a competitive environment religion can play a role in major social development of
countries. (Grim, 2014) Religious freedoms also encourage multiples of trust for instance clothing
retailer Abercrombie Fitch fought and lost a religious discrimination case in 2013 related to firing a
Muslim stock girl for wearing a scarf in violation of the company s dress code. The case resulted not
only in substantial legal costs but also negative national publicity. Respect for reasonable
accommodation of religious freedom in the workplace can improve employee morale, increase
retention of valued employees, and help with conflict resolution. Moreover, businesses may gain a
competitive advantage by engaging stakeholder expectations that are increasingly demanding that
companies play a positive role in addressing environmental, social and governance challenges. (Grim,

The Rich Brother Greed Quotes
People can look at a person and tell if a person is greedy, but what they cannot tell is why that person
is greedy. There are many reasons as to why a person is greedy, but they all boil down to the fact that
the person is deeply unsatisfied with their life and are trying to find what they are missing through
greed. Most often than not, the greedy person never rids him or herself from that unsatisfied feeling
because the more they receive the more their horizons open up, which leads to a greater feeling of

In a state of dilemma, individuals find it interesting when people confronted with life s problems. The

Mitsubishi Pajero
Good morning/afternoon. Buying a new product can be stressful at the best of times, but when the
product is a new car worth $70,000, this stress can become overwhelming. When our client, Mark,
came to us to help him decide upon a new vehicle, he had already narrowed down the selection to
either a Mitsubishi Pajero or a Toyota Prado, having had experience with each. He had also taken the
liberty of creating a list of important observations about himself, in order for us to help him make a

per day, so the car must have good fuel economy and comfort. Aside from his work commute, he will
drive his family members to various activities, so the safety is a priority. Mark has a budget of $70,000
with which to buy the car, so the chosen models must be under $70,000. Aside from city life, Mark
runs a cattle station with rugged terrain, so the car must also be up to scratch off road. Both the Toyota
Prado and Mitsubishi Pajero fit these criteria, and in order to create the fairest evaluation, the Pajero

NCAA Football Playoff System
Thesis: The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) formula has been used to determine the top twenty five
teams in NCAA Division I college since 1998. Many think this system is inadequate and should be
changed. The alternative is a playoff system that would give more of the top teams a chance to be
named the NCAA football National Champion.

Bill Vilona, of the Pensacola News Journal wrote, All of us in the equity conferences believe the BCS
has worked; it has done what it s supposed to do. It s not perfect, but I don t think anything is perfect.
The Bowl Championship Series should be changed to a playoff system. The BCS does a great job of
utilizing all the statistics and polls to establish the top twenty five teams in the nation. On the other
hand the top two teams are the ones who attend the national championship and that is where the BCS
system is unfair. For Example, Alex Giles wrote in his Article The Proposed Marriage of the BCS and
a Playoff Format , In 2000, the BCS ranked Oklahoma Jerzy 6
#1 and Florida State #2 at seasons end, despite the fact that Miami was ranked #2 in the both the AP
and the coaches poll and had beaten the Seminoles (Florida State) during the regular season. Ranking
problems like that one that happened in 2000 are why the BCS system should modify to a playoff
system. The BCS is a somewhat confusing and often controversial system (Vilona). The top twenty
five teams in Division I football battle each and every week for a better spot in the rankings. Most of
the time it comes down to the last week of season play to determine which two teams will progress
into the national championship game. The top teams should be given an opportunity to earn their way
into the championship

How Is Miss Ruddock s Terrible Loneliness Conveyed In Alan Bennett s
A Lady Of Letters?
Miss Irene Ruddock is an ordinary middle aged woman who lives on her own. She was close to her
mother who had recently passed away. Miss
Ruddock has no real friends and finds it difficult to fill her time so she is often sitting in her chair,
looking out of her window and noting what is going on in other people s lives. She has no social life
and she only leaves the house when she has to.
Alan Bennett shows Miss Ruddock s loneliness through her obsession of writing letters. She uses
these letters as a way of communicating with the world outside her home. In the drama, before going
to prison, we do not hear Miss Ruddock have a meaningful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is a computer generated letter sent to all customers after a certain amount of time, and Miss
Ruddock replies to by saying she thought it very considerate of them for drawing this to my attention
and in the event of me noticing any deterioration I would...get in touch with them . This is another
example of loneliness as it shows her desperation to communicate with the outside world and will use
any excuses to do so.
Miss Ruddock is lonely because she leads a very lacklustre life. Other than writing inappropriate
letters to anyone she see s fit, she spends a lot of her time sitting in her chair by the window, often
looking over the actions of her neighbour s and casting judgement over their lifestyles. An example of
this is when she says Well, you ve got a car, you ve got a transistor, it s about time you invested in
some curtains . At the beginning of the monologue we find out that Miss
Ruddock attended the funeral of somebody who, until their obituary was posted in the local
newspaper, she had called the wrong name. she feels that they are similar because She lost her mother
around the same time I lost mine, she had a niece in Australia and I have one cousin in Canada, then
she went in for gas fired central heating just a few weeks before I did . This shows that she is lonely
because she is so desperate to have something to do in her leisure time that she
would

They both have many amusing similarities and differences when it comes to their homes, diets, and physical aspects. These two sea creatures relate in many ways, however there are countless unique characteristics between them. Being some of the most brilliant animals of the sea, Octopi are invertebrates which means that they do not have a single bone in their bodies. They are usually hidden away in caves or dens near the sea floor and spend most of their lifetimes alone. During pregnancy, many mothers become very weak due to a lack of food and nutrition, and pass away not being able to be present throughout their children s lifetimes. Octopi are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with octopi, squid are also cephalopods and contain three hearts. Unlike octopi, squid have two fins on their head and have a stiff structure called a pen that acts like a flexible spine. These fins are used for the squid to slowly move about throughout the ocean. Rather than being alone and independent like the octopus, squid are found in schools and tend to stay together throughout their short lifetimes. Squid eat a combination of different species of fish and shrimp and may even go to the point of eating other squid if food is scarce. Both animals are located in salty, warm waters near the temperate zones where there is an abundance of food. One main difference between them is how they catch their prey. Octopi bring in their prey by piercing them and injecting it with a venom through their suckers that paralyzes the victim. Squid use their two longest tentacles to catch fish and shrimp and shred it with their sharp tongue while the prey is still alive. Another similarity between them is that they both have a mantle. The mantle helps protect the organism by creating a shell around the internal organs. Size weighs in a great deal with both of the animals. Octopi can range anywhere from one centimeter to five meters and can weigh up to one hundred and fifty pounds. Squid can be from a few inches to sixty feet long and weigh over a ... • 3. Narrative Voice In Lot s Wife The depiction of the characters is a vital aspect of Szymborska s works. This is notable in the poems Lot s Wife and The Terrorist, He s Watching (see Appendix 1). This depiction of the characters is influenced by many literary techniques, one being narrative voice. Narrative voice can be defined as the eyes the reader sees a story through. This is separated into three distinct types: first, second and third person. First person is typically told from the perspective of the main character, second person addresses the main character as you and third person refers to the characters as he or she. Third person can either be omniscient; knowing an unlimited amount of information about all characters, events and conflicts in the story, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem commences with a third person narrative voice. This persona describes the terrorist as enjoying the moment, The terrorist has already crossed the street. / The distance keeps him out of danger, / and what a view just like the movies: (5 7). By describing the situation as movie like, it shows that the terrorist values his life over others as he situates himself at a distance where he can observe safely. This idea is also expressed through the fact that the language is factual, observational and unemotional, conveying the emotional detachment of the terrorist towards the pain and suffering he will inflict. The use of language in this is vastly different to that of Lot s Wife with the contrast of emotional language and factual language. The descriptions of the individuals are detached with mundane characteristics, such as the crummy gloves (26), only being mentioned. This creates the sense that these individuals are less important than him, showing that the terrorist looks down on them. Throughout the piece, there is a sense of dramatic irony, with the terrorist knowing something that the people entering and exiting the bar don t. This introduces the idea that the terrorist perceives this situation as comedic. This idea is continued with the use of time intervals marking the countdown of the detonation. ... History has taught us that peace must be kept at all costs. The tragic story of the League of Nations centers around the man who conceived it and offered it to the world. The man who developed its charter and who died from exhaustion after his own country, the United States, refused to ratify it in the senate . On November eleventh, 1918 an armistice was declared in Europe. The President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, saw this as an opportunity to form an international organization of peace. The reason for this uncertainty by the congress was because, the Fourteen Points were all couched in broad, rather vague terms, well designed to serve their propaganda purpose, but hardly suited to the negotiations of which in the sequel, they were to become the basis . Wilson wanted the League of Nations because he believed that World Wars would continue to occur as long as each nation was responsible for their own defense. Wilson wanted the nations of the world to stand together in the League of Nations, and promise to defend the territory and freedom of any member attacked by another nation. Wilson believed that in order to keep peace the League needed the authority to impose economic sanctions against aggressor states but the League did not have any military forces to back up these economic threats. • 8. Homosexuality And The Effects Of The Stonewall Riots The Stonewall Riots highlighted a key issue in the late 1960s American society. Homosexuality was often seen as an illness and a sin to most people. For example, in April 1952 homosexuality was deemed a sociopathic mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association (CNN). This idea was heightened in American society because it was being taught that being gay was one of the worst things an American can be; showing videos such as Boys Beware . This all changed after the conflict at the Stonewall Inn; located in New York on Christopher Street. The Stonewall Inn was the place where gays and lesbians would flock to, to feel accepted for once in their lives as many of them ran away or were disowned by their own families. Even though Stonewall was a place of freedom, it was also a place for fear as the police would constantly raid the bar to make sure that alcohol was not being served to gays, as the New York State Liquor Authority deemed it illegal to serve homosexuals. Lasting only three days, the riots were able to help start the transformation of American society to become what it is today. The lack of a formal compromise between the nation and the LGBT community was an advantage for the effects of Stonewall to spread as the conflict was able to bring a wave of acceptance and pushed many of history s gay role models to feel inspired to stand up. Unlike most issues in history there was no compromise for the Stonewall Riots. After the American Revolution, the Treaty of Paris was there to help regulate the tension between America and England, but for Stonewall it was just met with messy streets that needed to be cleaned up, injuries on both sides, and the realization that there was a need for change. Treaties or compromises often come with rigid details that confine the parties involved to follow very strict rules. For example, The Treaty of Paris divided the land in North America between Spain, Britain, and the colonist, kicking the French off the continent entirely (Treaty of Paris). If the events of Stonewall were subject to the confinements that a compromise brings to a situation its strong influence and reach that it had would have ultimately been cut short. It wasn t until the late 1980s that it became popular outside of the African American community and by the 2000s it became the most popular genre of music. However, the subculture has evolved through out the years and the comparison between then and now is growing increasingly big. Hip Hop in the 80s consisted of music, dance, creativity and artistry. It also allowed people an avenue to express themselves and deliver a sense of their surroundings and backgrounds whether that was positive or negative. As well as this bringing communities together, it also drove them apart as expressing yourself got competitive and with hip hop being a music form. People would start to offend each other through lyrics, by pointing out disadvantages. This culture was now so competitive that violence started to outbreak due to people taking it to serious and this brought so much bad attention towards it, to be a rapper was basically classing yourself as a criminal. Unfortunately, how most people remember hip hop may be distorted through the prevalence of violence in the hip hop culture, whether heard in lyrics, seen from artists or in the media s representation of artist beef. Indeed, when the Mustang was designed, it was derived from the Falcon s platform, although there are distinct differences in sheet metal, wheelbase size, width and height, along with standard front bucket seats. Further, the Mustang offered a three on the floor manual transmission to the Falcon s three speed automatic. Similarities included the Mustang s standard 200 cubic foot inline six engine with a one barrel carburetor (optional in the Falcon), steering, rear suspension, and differential. The Mustang s options list was what set this model further apart from the Falcon (as well as the Barracuda), including items which define the original steed best in most people s eyes, namely a 271 horsepower V8, four speed manual transmission, special handling package, limited slip differential, and front disc brakes. It s not far fetched to believe that fewer nurses can shorten our lifespan. Imagine a hospital stay or a surgery without nurses. Unfortunately, the ability to achieve truly variable valve timing has eluded automotive manufacturers. Most variable timing mechanisms were created as tools for the automotive engineer. Their use was limited to the laboratory as a means of testing multiple, virtual cam profiles. These early camless engines allowed for the designers to choose the best cams for the engine under scrutiny, but were less than energy efficient. Furthermore, they were laboratory machines and were not capable of being mass produced or utilized in an automobile. There have been a few attempts at developing production models of camless engines, most notably by Ford, but the use of solenoids has impeded their implementation. Using solenoids to control hydraulic fluid and ultimately the opening and closing of the engine valves introduces its own limitations. The solenoids consume considerable energy and are a binary control device they are either on or off. Therefore the hydraulic fluid, controlled LIMITATIONS OF THE CAM: NEED FOR VARIABLE VALVE TIMING Automobile manufacturers have recognized the compromises associated with by the solenoids, is either flowing or blocked. Until the very end the narrator is anyone but someone who plays a major role in the short film. Towards the end the narrator is revealed to be an internal character, the protagonists boyfriend. Due to this newly acquired knowledge it has the audience question the accuracy of the story. Did Ellen really kill her husband and bake him into the Pâté or did the narrator toy with our minds and make us think what he is revealing is the truth. Bicycle Thieves conversely mounts the story without a narrator. Without the narrator the story is unbiased and the audience knows without a doubt in their mind where the story is heading and that Ricci unfortunately will most likely end up with ... • 28. Martin Luther King Speech Analysis Throughout Martin Luther King Jr s. speech, he uses violence as a form of getting his perspective and view across to his audience. King uses violence in order to persuade the audience for other reasons differing from Barack Obama s view on violence. Martin Luther king brings to light the amount of damage that violence is causing in order to pursue the audience when saying I am mindful that only yesterday in Philadelphia, Mississippi, young people seeking to secure the right to vote were brutalized and murdered. And only yesterday more than 40 houses of worship in the State of Mississippi alone were bombed or burned because they offered a sanctuary to those who would not accept segregation. (pg.1). Although this seems upsetting, King chooses to bring it to light in order to open societies eyes and convince them that violence is destroying the world day by day. King says in his speech I believe that wounded justice, lying prostrate on the blood flowing streets of our nations, can be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men. (pg.2). When King says this, it automatically gives society a reason for automatically thinking that indeed we have violence in this world, and things should be changed immediately. King brings this to the attention of society that he believes that we as a community can change and turn into something better. King uses words like brutalized and murdered to convince and persuade the audience into having a different view on why violence isn t okay while Obama uses his view on violence to persuade his audience in a different manner. Barack Obama brings up the fact that non violence would not have put a stop to Hitler s armies just like negotiation between the U.S. and al Qaeda s leaders wouldn t have made them put their arms down and act any differently (pg.6). Barack Obama is trying to open up societies eyes and give them a different viewpoint on his beliefs and how he thinks situations like the tragic experience that Jews had to face in Auschwitz should be handled. In addition to the previous statement, Barack Obama also talks about the fact that all nations must embrace the role that milliteries with a clear mandate, order of commision, can have in order ... The author saw this happen with his own eyes and his account is not meant to be beautiful, but raw and vivid to evoke emotion. This poem is about a young boy who is being beaten with a stick by an overweight woman. A neighbor, the narrator, remembers back to his past while he watches what is going on.
