The study was to consist of two parts: Task AAn experimental program to examine the effect of
microwaves on some 50 ores and minerals, and to select those processes appearing to have the most
promise. Task B A basic study to obtain an understanding of how and why microwaves interact with
certain minerals. It was agreed that the project would be a joint effort of three laboratories: (1)
Materials, (2) Chemistry, and (3) Electromagnetic. The first two laboratories were in the Physical
Sciences Division, and the last was in the Electronics Division. Denby proposed that the contract be
open ended, with a level of effort to be determined. Agreement was quickly reached on the content of
the proposal. Denby emphasized to the group that an early start was essential if Exco were to remain
ahead of its competition. After the meeting Lacy, who was to have overall responsibility for the
project, discussed the choice of project leader with Davidson. Davidson proposed Alan North, a 37
year old chemist who had had experience as a project leader on several projects. North had impressed
Davidson at the pre proposal meeting and seemed well suited to head the interdisciplinary team. Lacy
agreed. Lacy regretted that Dr. Ross (head of the Laboratory in which North worked) was unable to
participate in the decision of who should head the joint project. In fact, because he was out of town,
Ross was neither aware of the Exco project

Higher Education for Military Personnel
Education has always been a huge benefit for military personnel. Not only too further one s career, but
for those that wish to seek employment after their time in service. Now employers look more
favorable toward both the experience that men and women get from the service and to include the
education they receive during or after their enlistment. Mostly due to the fact that they are driven to
always do better for themselves and their career. They also have the discipline and respect to adapt to
whatever the future may bring.
In the state of Ohio there are close to 400 colleges and universities, but among them are only 96
schools that are considered veteran friendly. Within those schools they just do the bear minimum in
support for these men and women; where as other schools go above and beyond to aid those. So what
are some of these schools doing to support some of our nations finest men and women? What within
the northwest Ohio region should veterans be looking for when selecting a college?
To really absorb the difference of a university that is considered veteran friendly and those that are
not, future students need not look no further then that of their surrounding area: Owens Community
College, Bowling Green University, Toledo University, and Franklin University. These are some of the
top rated schools for veterans that provide programs where other schools are lacking.
All four of these schools are part of the Service members Opportunity Colleges (SOC). This was

William Damon The Death Of Honesty Summary
The essay The Death of Honesty by William Damon explores how honesty is becoming unexpected
and infrequently used in society today. Written in a general style without difficult or complicated
words it is obvious the author intends for his point to be easily understood by his readers. Using a
convincing argument, the virtue of honesty is approached in an objective manner. Published by the
Hoover Institute, Damon s topic of honesty fits well into this publication because the institute fosters
development of freedom. Accordingly Damon s paper outlines the virtue of honesty as necessary for
civilized and democratic society.
By placing his counter argument at the beginning of the essay, he craftily refutes the argument and
provides his views. Using an inductive thesis at the end of his essay works well to explain Damon s
position as he appears to maintain a diplomatic view. The cause and effect rationale is convincing.
Words such as dishonesty, lying, and cheating are used interchangeably, while Damon writes about
dishonesty more than he writes on honesty. Using emotions and ethical dilemmas he details
justifications for lying. Descriptive words are used to highlight his opinion of honesty. Damon defines
honesty as a virtue while giving blame to those he feels responsible for its decline.
Three topic paragraphs, one sentence long are scattered throughout the essay providing transition from
introduction, to summarizing, and closing parts of his paper. They serve to give emphasis to the main
points, first, teaching honesty, second, how this teaching is failing, and thirdly, how civilization
requires honesty. Overall the sentences are sometimes complex providing variety, and allowing flow
that keeps the reading from becoming monotonous. Paragraph lengths are short, consisting of the one
sentence paragraphs to relatively few sentences, often just four, that appear undeveloped, but the
complexity of the sentences allow the thoughts that are expressed to be complete.
While explaining that lying helps in less than ideal situations, Damon details how untruths can
reassure provide compassion, [and] diplomacy . Giving examples of where dishonesty has been not
only the ethical choice but an honorable

The Membrane Of A Eukaryotic Cell
A eukaryotic cell not only has a plasma membrane as its external boundary, but it also has a variety of
membranes that divide its interior into discrete partitions, separating processes and cell mechanisms
(National Center for Biotechnology Information, 2012). The complex and varied design of the
phospholipid bilayer allows the membrane to serve the variety of specific functions required by
different types of cells. Moreover, one of the most significant properties of membranes is selective
permeability; permitting the passage and movement of ions and molecules to pass freely through the
membrane, but excludes others from doing so (Ek Vitorin and Burt, 2013). One type of membrane
bound vacuole is found in plant cells, the tonoplast is quite large and contains water (Dee, 2000).
Within Beta vulgaris cells, the membrane bound vacuole also contains a red, water soluble pigment,
known as betacyanin, that provides the beetroot with its characteristic colour (Nottingham, 2004). As
the pigment is water soluble, it remains in the vacuole of the cell, however if the integrity of the
membrane is disrupted (through direct chemical damage, channel damage, injury via viruses, etc.) the
contents of the vacuole will diffuse out into the surrounding environment (Andrews, Almeida and
Corrotte, 2014). Through practical analysis, the effects of various chemicals on membrane
permeability in B.vulgaris was observed through the utilization of various concentrations of ethanol

Psalia Reflection
Upon
completion on this exercise the class reflect on what they have learnt and how to apply it to the outside
world.
Throughout both lessons that are presented they showcase various amounts of positive practices
throughout their learning experiences. Within Psalia lesson it is evident that Psalia explores the use of
open ended questions and materials, encouragement of peer discussion and learning and uses an
arrange of concrete resources. Psalia explores Palindromic numbers with students through the use of
open ended materials and questioning which allows students to enter the activity at their own level.
Through the use of open ended materials and questioning it speaks to all students to each learning
ability. Reys (2016 p.39) suggests that open ended questioning allows students to express their ideas
and hear other points of views to gain a vast understanding. Psalia successfully structures the lessons
to encourage peer discussion and individual learning, this is clear in the lesson as students can input
their knowledge into the discussion, linked from open ended questioning. Reys (2016 p.22) expresses
that educators should encourage children to reflect on their own learning as it inspires students to
explore and explain their thinking. Exploring peer discussion gives the students an opportunity to
experiment and apply to their work, this is evident in the video (0.55 1.10) where children are
exploring through the use of number chart where they create their own assumptions and formulas to
create a palindromic number. Psalia introduces an arrange of concrete materials and resources such as
slips of paper and computers. Using concrete materials such as the paper slips allows students to
explore and create strategies to create connections to the mathematics provided (Reys. 2016 p.344)
The use of computers is a positive practice as students can explore numbers they have experimented
with to see how and if they are successful. ACARA (2012 p.11) makes a point of how influential
technology is to learning which is evident towards the end of the lesson where the whole class is
engage to the computer activity to explore their palindromic numbers. It is visible throughout the
lesson that the educator s

There are several organizations that have competitive advantages in the industry. However, one

hotel. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland, United States of America, Ritz
Carlton hotel is one of the best in the hotel industry and has received several accolades for great
customer services (Ritz Carlton Hotels Resorts, n.d.). Nevertheless, to fully understand its competitive
advantage in the industry, it is essential to analyze how the organization operates. The Ritz Carlton

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wealth In Beowulf
In the epic poem Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, it discusses the advantages and
disadvantages of wealth that are shown in today s modern society.
In Beowulf, the epic depicts an abundance of scenes of how wealth, in today s modern culture, shows
someone s power. One way the benefit of wealth is shown in Beowulf by the kings in not solely the
story but the Anglo Saxon culture. This is shown by King Hrothgar when he talks about how he
handled his enemies, saying, Finally I healed the feud by paying / I shipped a treasure trove to the
Wulfings (Heaney 470 471). Moreover, the amiable King Hrothgar pays his enemies with precious
gold from his treasure hold and he ends up settling the feud. It is displaying how being wealthy can
synthesize the jubilance a person can obtain by being so powerful that they can pay their enemies to
stop attacking them. Another way that wealth can demonstrate the power in Beowulf is when the kings
are being described. One excerpt that shows this is when King Hrothgar greets his companion,
Beowulf, saying, Then the grey haired treasure giver was glad (607). The author specifically describes
the highest powerful men in the land as treasure givers. Comparatively, this not only showcases the
Anglo Saxon cultural beliefs, but is an even greater reflection on current the population. The
wealthiest man in the world, currently, is Bill Gates with a net worth of 85.6 billion dollars (Kim). Not
only is he extremely wealthy, but his influence in

Essay On The Bobo Doll Experiment
The Bobo Doll Experiment Alexis T. Smith University of Alabama at Birmingham April 2016 The
Bobo Doll Experiment was a study on aggression conducted by Albert Bandura at Stanford University
in 1961 because there was a lot of debate about whether a child s social development was due to
genetics, environment factors, or social learning from others around them. The purpose of the study
was to give credit to Bandura s claim that children behavior can be acquired by observation and
imitation of a trusted adult role model. The experiment was performed by a team of researchers who
physically and verbally mistreated a 3 and 5 foot painted cartoon clown doll, that is designed to sit
back upright when knocked down, in front of preschool age children, which led the children to later
copy the behavior of the adults by attacking the doll in the same fashion. The experiment is an
example of a matched pairs design, which is used when an experiment has two treatment conditions
and the subjects are paired based on a blocking variable, and within each pair the subjects are assigned
to a different treatment randomly. There were a total of 72 children within this lab ... Show more

male or female adult abuse the doll both physically (kicked, punched, threw, and hit with different
objects) and verbally (made aggressive and non aggressive statements). In the second group, 24

The Causes And Effects Of Violent Video Games
Violent video games have always been a hot topic since the release of the first Mortal Kombat in
October 1992 for home consoles, which, because of its violence, resulted in the creation of the
Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). There have been studies that show a correlation
between violent video games and aggression resulting in both an increase and decrease in aggression
among players, but all if not most studies have only been short term experiments. The real question is
whether violent video games cause an increase in short term aggression to the point where the players
start to commit violent actions because of it, but, if the aggression does increase, how to prevent the
short term aggression from increasing to the point where it becomes a problem without taking the
games away.
Almost every gamer who has played a multiplayer game with audio chat has either played with or
against a person (usually a child) who, whenever they start to lose, they fly into an aggressive frenzy
or tantrum, starting to do everything from cussing out other players, accusing them of being cheaters,
and etc.. One should worry about people like this, who if possible might seek out the cheaters for
vengeance, when it comes to possible related crimes, but realistically speaking there are very few
people are capable of finding the person s actual name, unless said person does something stupid such

Autism Spectrum Disorder and Interventions
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that develops during a child s
first few years of life (Lesack, Bearss, Celano, Sharp, 2014). This disorder occurs significantly more
often in boys than girls (Goldstein, Naglieri, Rzepa, Williams, 2012). Autism is part of a group that is
known as pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), which also includes Asperger s disorder, Rett
disorder, childhood disintegrative disorder and pervasive development disorder not otherwise
specified (PDD NOS) (Sunita and Bilszta, 2012). Some characteristics children represent with autism
is the inability to make eye contact, to initiate and respond communication, and smile back at someone
else who is smiling at them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there was no evidence for those notions but parents still held on to the belief that the diet
and or vaccinations were responsible for causing autism. The reason for the idea of the measles and
mumps vaccination causing autism was that autism would develop in children around the same time
when the child would need to get the vaccination. This became suspicious to people. The reason for
the idea of the children s diet causing autism was that there were publications of a controversial article
stating that there was a link between enterogastric toxins appearing from eating foods that had gluten
in them and autism. With this idea too there was nothing proven that a gluten allergy and autism were
linked (Thompson, 2013). When children are able to receive early education that supports their
development there diagnostic symptoms are likely to decrease and even go away, permitting those
children who have autism to reach parallel developmental levels with other typically developing
children around the same age (Sari, 2014). There are multiple different programs and interventions a
child with autism can go through to help them succeed in life as best as they can as well as programs
and interventions the children s parents can participate in with the child. One intervention is applied
behavior analysis (ABA). The treatments that are in applied behavior analysis include Pivotal

Why I Need Literature Analysis
I can admit whole heartedly that Literature has saved my life.
Looking back, I have chosen literature over a lot of things, sometimes it was my family and friends
whose views on education differed greatly from my own, but most often I was choosing literature over
temptation; which, seductively presented itself all over the extremely urban streets of south central
L.A. Temptation is the reason many of my old friends are in jail now and why I am the only member
in my family to have graduated from high school. It has taken many people away from me, my friends
and family who have turned to drugs to numb the woes of their inherit circumstances and even my
father who is still in jail, that I have yet to and may never meet.

Today, as the president of the literature club I am changing people s attitudes towards reading and
writing and cultivating a community of readers and writers on campus. Through the club I am able to
act as an instructor on many different genres and styles of literature. There I most often choose pieces
of literature that would allow members to analyze another era of time and understand the struggles of
that time through the literature; as well as, other forms of literature like movie scripts, music lyrics,
and comic books to promote the diversity of literature in its many contemporary forms. Through
events like book drives and poetry slams we are able to reach out to people, who aren t even
necessarily English majors, and watch as literature enhances their lives as they voice their angst with
society through their poetry. The workshops I ran on poetry and creative writing as a means of self
expression allowed me to analyze many peoples work while improving my poetry just by teaching

How Is Malcolm X Compared To Malcolm X
Malcolm X, one of the most influential leaders in the Black community, transformed American values
with his unfiltered statements and his determination for Black liberty and power. However, his
controversial solutions concerned many, as he expressed comments that seemed intimidating, twisted,
and somewhat vengeful, even though he contained honest intentions within his heart. He held many
violent undertones in which made the white folk very uncomfortable. In addition, his words caused the
violent rebellions and delegitimized Martin Luther King s non violent resistance as a philosophy for
the fool. People had claimed he was a racial segregationist, as he believed in all whites to be devils.
He was asked questions like did he advocate violent methods to obtain liberty for blacks, as he
supported Africans Rifle Clubs, and he inspired many clubs for creating violent Clubs. As Malcolm
once said, There is no such thing as a non violent revolution. In contrast, Malcolm denied these
allegations of promoting violence, and his point of view shows the reason how and why the blacks had
reacted in that manner. Later, however, Malcolm X did follow the Honorable Elijah Mohammed, and
had always followed and believed in him. He followed the doctrines of how whites was inherently
evil, and could not enter Mecca, due to their skin color. Not only had that he criticized all whites for

Persia and Greece were beautiful and prosperous empires and where the most influential of their time.
In this essay I will talk about the two main empires political structures and their economy and I will
also state similarities and differences between the two empires. The two empires political structures
might have varied greatly but their economies were very similar. Even though they had differences
and had major battles they were still the ideal empires of their time. The Persians had a very good
government. Before Persia became known as the largest empire in the world in its time period they
were not unified. It wasn t until 522 B.C. that the Persian Empire became unified. Emperor Darius
accomplished the real unification of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore replacing barter with the exchange of money. Greece was a very high class civilization,
where the government was based on city states. Perhaps their greatest invention of all was the form of
government they came up with, which we still use today democracy. However these Greek
democracies are nothing like our democracy today. The probably most well known ruler of Greece
was Alexander the Great. He was the leader of Macedonia, the city state that took control over Greece,
and he eventually gained control over Greece as a whole. Alexander the Great was probably the best
leader of all time in Greece. He conquered new lands, but he was the first person to adopt the new
land s customs, instead of forcing his customs on the new territory. This is why many of the
civilizations he conquered actually were glad he took them over. He also encouraged his soldiers to
marry the women from the new territories to show cultural involvement. The Greek economy was
based off of agriculture. They were also colonized to somewhat like the states we have in America.
Their main crops and trade products were grapes, olives, and wine. The Greek commerce and trade by
sea is what made all of the Greek city states as wealthy and important as they were. The Greeks were
often called The Masters of the Mediterranean because of their skillful seafaring.
The Greek and Persian civilization had a lot of similarities and

Comparing Velazquez And Picasso s Paintings
Velazquez and Picasso made two similar painting s, both named las meninas. Both of the painting s
represent a princess being helped by her maids or helpers. While Picasso s was very abstract,
Velazquez s was very realistic. While Picasso s painting focused more on the princess, Velazquez s
painting focused more on the maids/helpers.
Picasso s painting is the thought of the first paragraph. Picasso was a very abstract artist. He almost
made his painting s with stain glass. In the painting he made he made the princess very big and
beautiful. The maid stood by making her look beautiful. I think Picasso was portraying that real
beauty comes from the ones you least expect. Although the princess was, well a princess, she could
only become beautiful with the help of her maids, if her maids weren t there then she wouldn t be
pretty. Although her maids aren t pretty that doesn t mean that true beauty comes from the outside, and
that s what I think picasso was trying to portray. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now Velazquez s painting is far different than Picassos. Velazquez s painting is focused on the
princess. It shows maids running around grabbing things and putting them on the princess to get her

There is also a dog and many maids surrounding the dog and bowing to the princess. While the
princess stands there and has no emotion. This painting was titled las meninas. A very fitting title

Persuasive Essay On The Future Of The Postal System
The United States Postal Service has been very prominent in everyone s lives, even if most people don
t realize it. Although, over the years many of our needs have changed and email rose to the top as a
new way of sending mail, much of what the USPS had used to its advantage, such as the large amount
of mail that has been sent physically, has been slowly dissipating over the last decade or so. From
2008 to 2009, the mail volume dropped by 30 billion, which is a drastic change compared to the 4 or 5
billion fluctuation between previous years (Source B). As it is evident, the postal system has changed
with our growing need for faster forms of transportation of information subsided by email. The postal
system has been extremely affected by our advances in technology and it is time that we understand
that this process was inevitable, and the USPS needs to be restructured by doing Sunday delivery, and
strategically closing branches to save money and accommodate to the needs of a changing world .
The major point of competition for the USPS would have to be email, and in some cases, other postal
services (Source E). Over the years whenever the postal service was in its prime, it kept much of our
communication constant, whether mail was being sent from person to person, or even from the
government to the citizens of the U.S. (Source F). Many have worried that without permanent record
of things such as letters, bills, and other information sent through postage, we will lose

The Impact Of Tajikistan On The United States Of The...
Tajikistan gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and in its short life has already seen
considerable amounts of turmoil. When it was first declared a sovereign nation it was plunged very
quickly in to civil war. The war led to a quick decline in the nation s economy. This war crippled the
nation leaving Tajikistan very weak in the June of 1997 when the war finally drew to a close. This
civil war weakened Tajikistan s legitimate economy and left many people to rely on the revenues of
illicit opiate trade . Tajikistan is slowly recovering from the effects of becoming a new nation, plagued
with war and drug problems early in its life, and this requires the government to find a way to end the
drug usage and distribution problem that grips the country along with the corruption of the state in an
attempt to improve the economy and living conditions of Tajikistan. There are many contributing
factors to the perfect storm of sorts that lead to the rapid increase in Tajikistan s status as a drug state.
One of the most important of these is the proximity of Tajikistan to Afghanistan. This proximity
allowed for Afghanistan to take advantage of Tajikistan in the midst of civil unrest giving the people
of the poverty stricken economy an easy way to make quick money. This was made easier for
Afghanistan by Tajikistan s lack of border regulations, allowing drugs to easily be transferred between
the two countries. Afghanistan shares a 1,200 km border with Afghanistan and

Don Quixote As A Hero
Don Quixote, a character who is going crazy reading books that discuss heroic Knights. These books
lead Don Quixote on a journey to win over his lover, Dulcinea. Throughout Don Quixote s journey,
his intelligence is tested along with his sanity, but the one major question is what changes his attitude
toward chivalry in this novel? Chivalry, according to dictionary.com, is the sum of the ideal
qualifications of a Knight, this includes: courtesy, generosity, valor, and dexterity in arms. Don
Quixote believes that by bringing these qualities back into society, the world will once again obtain its
beauty. On this journey, Don Quixote is accompanied by a peasant laborer, Sancho Panza, who Don
Quixote refers to as his squire. Sancho, takes the roll of Don Quixote s squire because of greed. Unlike
the other characters in this novel, Sancho admires Don Quixote s madness, even getting himself
wrapped along in it at times. The Author uses the three main characters to emphasize different
opinions on the world and love within the world. Starting with Don Quixote himself, he comes off
both intelligent and insane at times. Imagining life the way he wishes it truly was, many of these
examples are stated in the following paragraph. Making decisions based off what he wants not
noticing the impact on others until after. This attitude ends up getting him into trouble. In chapter five,

Observation Of Toddlers
The key to understanding children is observation. As observers, we begin to look for daily patterns in
their behavior. Once patterns of behavior are recognized, the observer can then give positive guidance
in securing the child s developmental needs.
In observing a normal newborn s behaviors and activities, reflexes play an important role. They help
to identify normal brain and nerve activity. In my observation of Baby A, she demonstrated reflexes of
rutting in finding the nipple of her bottle, sucking, head turning and grasping of my fingers. Although
she was born full term, she was quite small in stature and weight. She also showed alertness to senses
of sight, hearing, taste and touch. Of course, at first, she slept most of the time while she was in my
care, but as she aged, she became more active and alert. The key element to keeping Baby A happy
was taking care of her physical needs first...diaper changes, feeding and burping. Although she is still
very small in weight and height, she shows no sign of delayed development and is now a happy,
healthy toddler.
Children from about 1 to 2 years old are usually called toddlers. During these years, parents see
tremendous growth and change. As an observer, I was able to see a Toddler B transform from a baby
into a toddler right before my eyes.
In my observation of Toddler B, he first appeared to be a healthy little butterball. He was very loving
and secure in his surroundings. I observed that he was still breast fed. He

Power Of Choice In John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
The book of Genesis demonstrates the history of creation. In the process of creating the world, the
reader can see that there are three sections demonstrated: the creation, the fall, and redemption. The
way that these three sections are exhibited is the amount of imagery and parallelism displayed in each
story. However, in the book, East of Eden, there is an allusion of Cain and Abel story in which
demonstrates the power of choice. This idea of the power of choice comes back to the original story of
the human creation: Adam and Eve. With the combination of the history of Genesis and Steinbeck s
novel East of Eden, demonstrates the idea of liberation especially with Steinbeck s character Cal.
In the book of Genesis, the story of Adam and Eve is the example of individual choice for the rest of
humanity. When God confronted Adam He stated, Thou shalt not eat of it : cursed is the ground for
thy sake: in sorrow shalt, thou eat of it all the days of thy life (3:17). Here in ... Show more content on

He states, the Hebrew word, the word timshel Thou mayest that gives a choice. It might be the most
important word in the world (303). This idea of timshel is a recurring theme all throughout the third
and fourth part of the novel. Lee does state two other definitions in which one states, a command and
the other one states a promise. At the end of the novel, Lee is pressuring Adam to forgive his only
living child, Cal and break a curse. For many scholars, the ending of the novel can be a little
ambiguous just because there is no clear indication of the action of stating, Timshel. In my
interpretation of the ending of the novel is a sign of liberation that started from the garden of Eden to
the story of Cain and Abel , until now. At the end when Adam states, Timshel, it shows that Cal is free
to be who wants to be. Cal can have the liberty of choice and not be thrown down to a tradition or

MEMORANDUM
INTRODUCTION
You have asked me to determine whether our client Diana Lewis committed unauthorized practice of
law by providing her services. I have done research on statutes and cases. This memorandum will
address the issue of this case, California Bar s claim, and Ms. Lewis s possible defense.
STATEMENT OF FACTS
In May 2001, Diana Lewis earned her Associate of Art degree and Paralegal Certificate from City
College of San Francisco. In June 2001, Ms. Lewis opened her business to prepare legal paperwork
for clients involved in uncontested divorces. She advertises her business in the Daily Journal and the

possible legal rights, defense, strategies, etc.
In the People v. Landlords Professional Services, 215 Cal. App. 3d 1599; 264 Cal. Rptr. 548, the court
held that when a non attorney consults his or her clients individually and presents himself or herself
with expertise concerning certain legal problem, he or she is engaged in unauthorized practice of law.
The court s reason for affirming conviction against LPS is that the company provided specific
information to its clients concerning eviction procedure in the context of personal interviews where it
was able to provide additional information and advice addressed to the specific problems and concerns
of its clients, who were likely to rely on its advice, perhaps to their serious detriment. This case is
similar to Diana Lewis s case in that both Ms. Lewis and LPS s representatives are not authorized to
practice law. Both cases have the same issue of definition of practice of law. They both provided legal
document service. The difference is that LPS held individual interviews with its clients and gave
specific advice, whereas Ms. Lewis held conference with her clients. However, Ms. Lewis did discuss
with her clients before the court hearing. State Bar could argue it is possible for Ms. Lewis to provide
additional advice concerning specific problems if her clients. Yet at

2. How would costs be measured in this vignette?

results came out positive for Bovine TB. Luckily, the baboon troop he was studying was not affected

TB came from cattle raised by the Masai people, who refused to kill off the cows. Sapolsky went back

goodbye to his baboon troop who was affected by the outbreak. The last one of his troop to go was,

Feudal Society Structure
6. Q: What were the basic underlining structures what are found in each feudal society and what
purpose did these structures serve?
A: The fiefs under feudalism all contained basic structures that were essential in maintaining a fully
sustainable community. Some basic structures include water mills, houses, barns, and workshops, all
self explanatory. The three most important structures were the church, the manor, and a three field
crop rotation complex. The manor was considered the brain of the fief, which provided shelter to the
vassals and his staff, as well as a place for royal celebrations such as feasts. The church as a part of

This was called Feudal Justice , and gave nobles the ability to create court cases to settle disputes
between the defendants and the accused. These courts usually ended with the accused having to pay a
fine, which brought considerable income to the nobles throne, however, ordeal by God and trial by
combat were considered equally as effective in proving innocence. This system of justice brought the
same political power of the feudal system itself, knights could not accuse the king, but peasants could
call other peasants to be accused. Under this system, the daily lives of peasants could be brought into
question, however, both the accused and the accuser would receive the same treatment, and if the
accused was not found guilty, the accuser would receive the punishment. This created a system that
discouraged the use of judicial courts for personal gain, and disallowed the ability to move higher in

How Does Beer Affect Society
Beer
a. Despite the negative connotations that come with the drink today, beer has actually played a huge
role in shaping societies. One example of this takes place with the Sumerian people of Mesopotamia.
Beer drinkers were widely depicted as drinking with a straw, this became a symbol of hospitality and
friendship, the tradition of clinking glasses when sharing alcohol also can be traced to beer. Another
subtle, yet important way that beer contributed to society is that it helped eliminate the nomadic hunter
gathering lifestyle from before.
b. Beer also helped influence the history of some societies. The constant thirst for beer led to the
creation of mash tubs made specifically for creating beer; this in turn allowed people to become more
creative. By adding things such as berries, honey, spices and herbs to the tubs, the beer altered in taste
and thus, became a drink used for different occasions. Egyptian records also refer to beer as the
beautiful and good and the heavenly . Beer was also used in religious ceremonies and bappir or beer

What Is The Impact Of The Caste System On Indian Society
The caste system is a social system developed in India. It has a great effect of Indian society
throughout the Indian history. This essay is going to introduce you about the caste system by telling
you how the caste system works, where did it come from, and how does it influence Indian society.
First, its how the caste system works. It divides people ranks; from high to low are Brahmins,
Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudra. Beside these general ranks there are also untouchables which are
outside the system. The untouchables are the lowest in the society, usually made up of slaves or war
prisoners. Your rank also influences which work you are doing. The higher the rank is the better the
work is. Brahmins are the ruling class, people in this rank are usually are spiritual leaders. Kshatriyas
are usually warriors and nobles; they made up the military class. Vaishyas are people like merchants
and producers, they are the people we usually call the middle class today. The laborers are usually
consisting of Shudras, their rank is so low that they are prohibited from the study of sacred literature
call Vedas . The untouchables do the jobs that nobody wants to do, and for most of the times all the
dirty works like cleaning up or deal with waste. People are only allowed to do the jobs that are
allowed in their rank, if they do the wrong job, the will be punished and sometimes been killed. The
communications between ranks are also limited. Usually the higher ranks are not allowed to

the only job she is able to get is that of a waitress in an elite night club owned by the self made
billionaire, Julian St. John. Julian instantly falls for Cindy after rescuing her from attempted gang
rape. However, he needs a creative plan to win the heart of the woman who no longer believes in love

sentences. I found this very frustrating; it felt like the story was standing still and had no point. Even
though the story is told from Cindy s point of view, I feel that the author could have made bigger
effort to make Julian more understandable to the reader. Something else that created confusion was
that he was always referred to as The Dark Prince or The Monk, seldomly as Julian. Even though
Julian s character was poorly displayed, I feel that the author put a lot of thought into the characters of

being two of the most important aspects of the product, creating and maintaining products in this
category is simplified. This has become one of the most exciting new markets not only because it is
the beginning of a new wave of a product category but because the market and consumer base is large
and ready to be tapped into. The market is increasingly becoming more and more energetic, ... Show

A promising characteristic of consumers in this category is that many of them tend to prefer smaller,
trendier, and ‘cooler companies. There are lot of these consumers that would much rather give their
money to an independent/private company than to a large corporation. Companies such as Red Bull
and Odwalla have come to be some of the strongest brands in the sports nutritional category simply by
being ‘renegade brands. Because the parity of products that are in this market, success requires
building a strong brand around the product. There are not too many variables with which to work
(mostly taste and nutrition) which can cause some companies distress. This however is not a flaw but
a benefit of the category because it does allow for a strong brand building that can create strong
consumer loyalty.
After discussing the make up of the consumers of sports nutritional products and the organization of
the marketers and companies in this category, it is time to look to the future of sports nutritional
products as an industry. It seems as if each day more and more people are searching for ways in which
to live healthier and improved lives. This can be seen in the increase of consumption of health related
nutritional products. As new studies reveal important health benefits of certain foods (i.e. soy, ginseng,
calcium) there are increased outlets for integrating these foods into sports nutritional products. Women

Self-Discovery In Story Of An Hour And Neighbours
Discoveries inevitably lead to new perspectives of the new world, new values and new understandings
of ourselves and others.
To what extent is this view represented in Story of an Hour and Neighbours
Discoveries have the ability to transform. Discoveries have been known to reveal the unknown and
others. They can lead to new perspectives, new values and new understandings of ourselves and
others.
In The Story of the Hour by Kate Chopin our own protagonist embarks on a journey of self discovery.
After she learned of the death of her Husband. Similarly, Neighbours by Tim Winton portrays Self
discovery through a newlywed couple who move into an established multicultural neighbourhood.
Both texts convey elements of new understandings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown when Richards tells his friend Lucy that her husband Brantley Mallard had died in a rail
accident. She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister s arms this showing the start
of her emotional journey she will take, later on in the short story we see that she locks herself in her
room and stares out of the window and watches the new life of spring to consume the land, it is at this
time that she finds herself muttering the words free! Body and soul free! relating to the new life that
she will enjoy living without her husband. This change in thought shows the near end of her emotional
discovery as she decides that she shall not weep over the loss of her husband but rather drink an elixir
of life through the open window live the way she wanted to with no one stopping her and telling her
what to do. The journey of self discovery is shown throughout the process of her emotional state, she
discovers her new life, she can do things that will make herself happy and not worry about what will
think about this. She says that she prayed for life to be long. It was only yesterday she had thought
with a shudder that might be long with the news of her husband s death she finds herself with a new
fresh feeling that she is one with herself

Russell Foster Sleep
Russell Foster is a British professor and a circadian neuroscientist at Brasenose College. He studies
the sleep cycles of the brain. He and his group were credited for discovering photosensitive ganglion
cells in the mammalian retina. This discovery will help to find more information about the circadian
rhythm system. In 1980, Foster graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in Zoology. He
has earned many awards for his work and is also the author of a few books. Russell Foster has an open
discussion of reasons why sleep is important to humans. He mentions that huge sectors of society are
sleep deprived. On average, teens need nine hours of sleep for a healthy brain performance. But,
nowadays teens are only getting about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Foster states, Essentially, all the stuff we ve burned up during the day, we restore, we replace, we
rebuild during the night. Foster also explains that Within the brain, a whole raft of genes have been
shown to be turned on only during sleep, and those genes are associated with restoration and
metabolic pathways. I agree with Foster s first explanation of why we sleep. Sleep helps repair and
renew tissue and nerve cells, the neutralization of neurotoxins, and the restoration of normal levels of
chemicals throughout our bodies. Sleep can also heal the body physically. For example, it can heal
wounds, strengthen the immune system, and increase growth hormone levels in the

Netflix Yunshi Case
I agree with Yunshi s stance on streaming services offering a attractive package that differentiates
themselves from the competition of alternatives such as cable or dish network. Today people have
several avenues to take in gaining access to their daily entertainment. Services have become more
catered to the variety of consumer taste; thus, the old model of packaging ESPN with less supported
programs such as ESPN 3 or 2 are developing into packaging your unique production programs. I can
only watch certain Netflix produced shows on Netflix, therefore, a customer wanting more of a certain
program would be attracted to the diverse options Netflix has opposed to another streaming service.
The options streaming has vs the options television have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Movie studios have gone to great lengths in stopping pirated movies or channels that distribute their
movies without consent from the producers. Fair use is another tricky subject and many people are
content with snippets of a popular series or are fine with watching an entire visual novel or listening to
an book audio instead of purchasing the novel from a store or website. Thus, best cost has become
more nuanced and allowed for more tricky approaches to attracting customers with free material that
is bundled with priced add on or free material that is kept afloat with volunteer payments or optional
payed bonus extras. For example, a studio may create a movie and have the ticket be valid for
watching in a theater but also later viewing at home. It dissuades customers from illegally purchasing
the movie due to the cost strategy being convenient and flexible to consumer taste. The strategies are
different yet today are being utilized and evolving with the pressures of new competition along with
customer perception. Knowing how to appeal to a customer s perception of pricing while offering a
quality product are the key to sustaining a proper strategy in our changing

Neil Postman Amusing Ourselves To Death Analysis
Neil Postman; cultural critic, author, and teacher extraordinaire, spent his career warning and
educating about the role technology was beginning to play in society. He wrote all of his books,
articles, and speeches by hand and reportedly never met a computer or typewriter that he liked. He
also never published an academic journal article due to his belief that his ideas were meant to be read
by all, not exclusively a handful of scholars. In today s age of technological overload, just thirty years
after his most well known book Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman is revered as a prophet as
more and more of our media consumption becomes purely for entertainment purposes. According to
Postman a metaphor is the way in which our forms

It was agreed that the project would be a joint effort of three laboratories: (1) Materials, (2) Chemistry, and (3) Electromagnetic. The first two laboratories were in the Physical Sciences Division, and the last was in the Electronics Division. Denby proposed that the contract be open ended, with a level of effort to be determined. Agreement was quickly reached on the content of the proposal. Denby emphasized to the group that an early start was essential if Exco were to remain ahead of its competition. After the meeting Lacy, who was to have overall responsibility for the project, discussed the choice of project leader with Davidson. Davidson proposed Alan North, a 37 year old chemist who had had experience as a project leader on several projects. North had impressed Davidson at the pre proposal meeting and seemed well suited to head the interdisciplinary team. Lacy agreed. Lacy regretted that Dr. Ross (head of the Laboratory in which North worked) was unable to participate in the decision of who should head the joint project. • 3. Higher Education for Military Personnel Education has always been a huge benefit for military personnel. Not only too further one s career, but for those that wish to seek employment after their time in service. Now employers look more favorable toward both the experience that men and women get from the service and to include the education they receive during or after their enlistment. Mostly due to the fact that they are driven to always do better for themselves and their career. They also have the discipline and respect to adapt to whatever the future may bring. In the state of Ohio there are close to 400 colleges and universities, but among them are only 96 schools that are considered veteran friendly. Within those schools they just do the bear minimum in support for these men and women; where as other schools go above and beyond to aid those. So what are some of these schools doing to support some of our nations finest men and women? What within the northwest Ohio region should veterans be looking for when selecting a college? To really absorb the difference of a university that is considered veteran friendly and those that are not, future students need not look no further then that of their surrounding area: Owens Community College, Bowling Green University, Toledo University, and Franklin University. These are some of the top rated schools for veterans that provide programs where other schools are lacking. All four of these schools are part of the Service members Opportunity Colleges (SOC). • 4. William Damon The Death Of Honesty Summary The essay The Death of Honesty by William Damon explores how honesty is becoming unexpected and infrequently used in society today. Written in a general style without difficult or complicated words it is obvious the author intends for his point to be easily understood by his readers. Using a convincing argument, the virtue of honesty is approached in an objective manner. Published by the Hoover Institute, Damon s topic of honesty fits well into this publication because the institute fosters development of freedom. Accordingly Damon s paper outlines the virtue of honesty as necessary for civilized and democratic society. By placing his counter argument at the beginning of the essay, he craftily refutes the argument and provides his views. Using an inductive thesis at the end of his essay works well to explain Damon s position as he appears to maintain a diplomatic view. The cause and effect rationale is convincing. Words such as dishonesty, lying, and cheating are used interchangeably, while Damon writes about dishonesty more than he writes on honesty. Using emotions and ethical dilemmas he details justifications for lying. Descriptive words are used to highlight his opinion of honesty. Damon defines honesty as a virtue while giving blame to those he feels responsible for its decline. Three topic paragraphs, one sentence long are scattered throughout the essay providing transition from introduction, to summarizing, and closing parts of his paper. They serve to give emphasis to the main points, first, teaching honesty, second, how this teaching is failing, and thirdly, how civilization requires honesty. Overall the sentences are sometimes complex providing variety, and allowing flow that keeps the reading from becoming monotonous. Paragraph lengths are short, consisting of the one sentence paragraphs to relatively few sentences, often just four, that appear undeveloped, but the complexity of the sentences allow the thoughts that are expressed to be complete. While explaining that lying helps in less than ideal situations, Damon details how untruths can reassure provide compassion, [and] diplomacy . • 6. The Membrane Of A Eukaryotic Cell A eukaryotic cell not only has a plasma membrane as its external boundary, but it also has a variety of membranes that divide its interior into discrete partitions, separating processes and cell mechanisms (National Center for Biotechnology Information, 2012). The complex and varied design of the phospholipid bilayer allows the membrane to serve the variety of specific functions required by different types of cells. Moreover, one of the most significant properties of membranes is selective permeability; permitting the passage and movement of ions and molecules to pass freely through the membrane, but excludes others from doing so (Ek Vitorin and Burt, 2013). One type of membrane bound vacuole is found in plant cells, the tonoplast is quite large and contains water (Dee, 2000). Within Beta vulgaris cells, the membrane bound vacuole also contains a red, water soluble pigment, known as betacyanin, that provides the beetroot with its characteristic colour (Nottingham, 2004). As the pigment is water soluble, it remains in the vacuole of the cell, however if the integrity of the membrane is disrupted (through direct chemical damage, channel damage, injury via viruses, etc.) the contents of the vacuole will diffuse out into the surrounding environment (Andrews, Almeida and Corrotte, 2014). Through practical analysis, the effects of various chemicals on membrane permeability in B.vulgaris was observed through the utilization of various concentrations of ethanol 0%, 35% and 70% ... Within Psalia lesson it is evident that Psalia explores the use of open ended questions and materials, encouragement of peer discussion and learning and uses an arrange of concrete resources. Psalia explores Palindromic numbers with students through the use of open ended materials and questioning which allows students to enter the activity at their own level. Through the use of open ended materials and questioning it speaks to all students to each learning ability. Reys (2016 p.39) suggests that open ended questioning allows students to express their ideas and hear other points of views to gain a vast understanding. Psalia successfully structures the lessons to encourage peer discussion and individual learning, this is clear in the lesson as students can input their knowledge into the discussion, linked from open ended questioning. Reys (2016 p.22) expresses that educators should encourage children to reflect on their own learning as it inspires students to explore and explain their thinking. Exploring peer discussion gives the students an opportunity to experiment and apply to their work, this is evident in the video (0.55 1.10) where children are exploring through the use of number chart where they create their own assumptions and formulas to create a palindromic number. Psalia introduces an arrange of concrete materials and resources such as slips of paper and computers. Using concrete materials such as the paper slips allows students to explore and create strategies to create connections to the mathematics provided (Reys. 2016 p.344) The use of computers is a positive practice as students can explore numbers they have experimented with to see how and if they are successful. ACARA (2012 p.11) makes a point of how influential technology is to learning which is evident towards the end of the lesson where the whole class is engage to the computer activity to explore their palindromic numbers. • 12. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wealth In Beowulf In the epic poem Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, it discusses the advantages and disadvantages of wealth that are shown in today s modern society. In Beowulf, the epic depicts an abundance of scenes of how wealth, in today s modern culture, shows someone s power. One way the benefit of wealth is shown in Beowulf by the kings in not solely the story but the Anglo Saxon culture. This is shown by King Hrothgar when he talks about how he handled his enemies, saying, Finally I healed the feud by paying / I shipped a treasure trove to the Wulfings (Heaney 470 471). Moreover, the amiable King Hrothgar pays his enemies with precious gold from his treasure hold and he ends up settling the feud. It is displaying how being wealthy can synthesize the jubilance a person can obtain by being so powerful that they can pay their enemies to stop attacking them. Another way that wealth can demonstrate the power in Beowulf is when the kings are being described. One excerpt that shows this is when King Hrothgar greets his companion, Beowulf, saying, Then the grey haired treasure giver was glad (607). The author specifically describes the highest powerful men in the land as treasure givers. Comparatively, this not only showcases the Anglo Saxon cultural beliefs, but is an even greater reflection on current the population. • 13. Essay On The Bobo Doll Experiment The Bobo Doll Experiment Alexis T. Smith University of Alabama at Birmingham April 2016 The Bobo Doll Experiment was a study on aggression conducted by Albert Bandura at Stanford University in 1961 because there was a lot of debate about whether a child s social development was due to genetics, environment factors, or social learning from others around them. The purpose of the study was to give credit to Bandura s claim that children behavior can be acquired by observation and imitation of a trusted adult role model. The experiment was performed by a team of researchers who physically and verbally mistreated a 3 and 5 foot painted cartoon clown doll, that is designed to sit back upright when knocked down, in front of preschool age children, which led the children to later copy the behavior of the adults by attacking the doll in the same fashion. The Causes And Effects Of Violent Video Games Violent video games have always been a hot topic since the release of the first Mortal Kombat in October 1992 for home consoles, which, because of its violence, resulted in the creation of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). There have been studies that show a correlation between violent video games and aggression resulting in both an increase and decrease in aggression among players, but all if not most studies have only been short term experiments. The real question is whether violent video games cause an increase in short term aggression to the point where the players start to commit violent actions because of it, but, if the aggression does increase, how to prevent the short term aggression from increasing to the point where it becomes a problem without taking the games away. Almost every gamer who has played a multiplayer game with audio chat has either played with or against a person (usually a child) who, whenever they start to lose, they fly into an aggressive frenzy or tantrum, starting to do everything from cussing out other players, accusing them of being cheaters, and etc.. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there was no evidence for those notions but parents still held on to the belief that the diet and or vaccinations were responsible for causing autism. The reason for the idea of the measles and mumps vaccination causing autism was that autism would develop in children around the same time when the child would need to get the vaccination. This became suspicious to people. The reason for the idea of the children s diet causing autism was that there were publications of a controversial article stating that there was a link between enterogastric toxins appearing from eating foods that had gluten in them and autism. With this idea too there was nothing proven that a gluten allergy and autism were linked (Thompson, 2013). When children are able to receive early education that supports their development there diagnostic symptoms are likely to decrease and even go away, permitting those children who have autism to reach parallel developmental levels with other typically developing children around the same age (Sari, 2014). Tajikistan gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and in its short life has already seen considerable amounts of turmoil. When it was first declared a sovereign nation it was plunged very quickly in to civil war. The war led to a quick decline in the nation s economy. This war crippled the nation leaving Tajikistan very weak in the June of 1997 when the war finally drew to a close. This civil war weakened Tajikistan s legitimate economy and left many people to rely on the revenues of illicit opiate trade . Tajikistan is slowly recovering from the effects of becoming a new nation, plagued with war and drug problems early in its life, and this requires the government to find a way to end the drug usage and distribution problem that grips the country along with the corruption of the state in an attempt to improve the economy and living conditions of Tajikistan. There are many contributing factors to the perfect storm of sorts that lead to the rapid increase in Tajikistan s status as a drug state. One of the most important of these is the proximity of Tajikistan to Afghanistan. • 27. Don Quixote As A Hero Don Quixote, a character who is going crazy reading books that discuss heroic Knights. These books lead Don Quixote on a journey to win over his lover, Dulcinea. Throughout Don Quixote s journey, his intelligence is tested along with his sanity, but the one major question is what changes his attitude toward chivalry in this novel? Chivalry, according to dictionary.com, is the sum of the ideal qualifications of a Knight, this includes: courtesy, generosity, valor, and dexterity in arms. Don Quixote believes that by bringing these qualities back into society, the world will once again obtain its beauty. On this journey, Don Quixote is accompanied by a peasant laborer, Sancho Panza, who Don Quixote refers to as his squire. Sancho, takes the roll of Don Quixote s squire because of greed. Unlike the other characters in this novel, Sancho admires Don Quixote s madness, even getting himself wrapped along in it at times. The Author uses the three main characters to emphasize different opinions on the world and love within the world. Starting with Don Quixote himself, he comes off both intelligent and insane at times. Imagining life the way he wishes it truly was, many of these examples are stated in the following paragraph. Making decisions based off what he wants not noticing the impact on others until after. This attitude ends up getting him into trouble. In chapter five, Don Quixote approaches merchants ordering them around in hope to obtain the proclamation of Dulcinea s ... • 28. Observation Of Toddlers The key to understanding children is observation. As observers, we begin to look for daily patterns in their behavior. Once patterns of behavior are recognized, the observer can then give positive guidance in securing the child s developmental needs. In observing a normal newborn s behaviors and activities, reflexes play an important role. They help to identify normal brain and nerve activity. In my observation of Baby A, she demonstrated reflexes of rutting in finding the nipple of her bottle, sucking, head turning and grasping of my fingers. Although she was born full term, she was quite small in stature and weight. She also showed alertness to senses of sight, hearing, taste and touch. Of course, at first, she slept most of the time while she was in my care, but as she aged, she became more active and alert. The key element to keeping Baby A happy was taking care of her physical needs first...diaper changes, feeding and burping. Although she is still very small in weight and height, she shows no sign of delayed development and is now a happy, healthy toddler. Children from about 1 to 2 years old are usually called toddlers. During these years, parents see tremendous growth and change. As an observer, I was able to see a Toddler B transform from a baby into a toddler right before my eyes. In my observation of Toddler B, he first appeared to be a healthy little butterball. He was very loving and secure in his surroundings. I observed that he was still breast fed. He ... • 29. Power Of Choice In John Steinbeck s East Of Eden The book of Genesis demonstrates the history of creation. In the process of creating the world, the reader can see that there are three sections demonstrated: the creation, the fall, and redemption. The way that these three sections are exhibited is the amount of imagery and parallelism displayed in each story. However, in the book, East of Eden, there is an allusion of Cain and Abel story in which demonstrates the power of choice. This idea of the power of choice comes back to the original story of the human creation: Adam and Eve. With the combination of the history of Genesis and Steinbeck s novel East of Eden, demonstrates the idea of liberation especially with Steinbeck s character Cal. In the book of Genesis, the story of Adam and Eve is the example of individual choice for the rest of humanity. Lee does state two other definitions in which one states, a command and the other one states a promise. At the end of the novel, Lee is pressuring Adam to forgive his only living child, Cal and break a curse. For many scholars, the ending of the novel can be a little ambiguous just because there is no clear indication of the action of stating, Timshel. In my interpretation of the ending of the novel is a sign of liberation that started from the garden of Eden to the story of Cain and Abel , until now. At the end when Adam states, Timshel, it shows that Cal is free to be who wants to be. One example of this takes place with the Sumerian people of Mesopotamia. Beer drinkers were widely depicted as drinking with a straw, this became a symbol of hospitality and friendship, the tradition of clinking glasses when sharing alcohol also can be traced to beer. Another subtle, yet important way that beer contributed to society is that it helped eliminate the nomadic hunter gathering lifestyle from before. b. Beer also helped influence the history of some societies. The constant thirst for beer led to the creation of mash tubs made specifically for creating beer; this in turn allowed people to become more creative. By adding things such as berries, honey, spices and herbs to the tubs, the beer altered in taste and thus, became a drink used for different occasions.
