Longboards Research Paper
Longboards recently re emerged in the skate scene within the last ten years or so. Previously new
school and old school skateboards dominated the scene. However one may perform tricks on
longboards, the main difference between skateboards and longboards is that longboards sole purpose
is for coasting, street riding and transportation. Furthermore, due to the increasing popularity of
longboards emerging across the world, now is the best opportunity to begin the process of opening a
board shop. The business that I am creating is called ZigZag Boards. ZigZag Boards is a grassroots
sole proprietorship offering several varieties of longboards, each with a custom image or pattern that
will be hand paint on the bottom and/or top of each deck. The

Cyber Warfare And Cyber Crime
Introduction The internet is everywhere. It has become the most widely used and accessed technology
platform on the planet. It seems like it s almost gotten to the point where your blender is going to need
an IP address unless you want an outdated smoothie. So of course in this day and age when computing
and online interaction has become so pervasive that it would be of paramount importance to protect
your networks, your devices and yourself. Not only is cyber space ubiquitous, but cyber attacks as
well. Every day worldwide countless governments, companies, and private citizens are subject to
cyber attacks. The security world works round the clock in an attempt to stay ahead of the attackers.
One of the most important tools that helps the security tools stay ahead of would be attackers are
honeypots. The aptly named security tool works as a decoy device tricking attackers to believe it is
part of, or actually is the system they are attempting to compromise. Honeypots have become a
necessary accessory in the war on cyber crime, not only for the purposes of detection and prevention,
but for the purpose of studying and gaining a better understanding of the tools and techniques of cyber
attacks. The next section of this paper will look into the history and background of honeypots. Then
the current state of honeypots are discussed a long with relevant technologies that are making waves
in the decoy technology world. Followed by a look into emerging state of the art

Effects Of Water On Mars
Mars, a planet made of volcanic basalt rock as the soil on mars is like talcum powder. The red planet is
a great discovery as several ask questions such as, Is there water on mars? Or Is there any life on
Mars? Well after Earth was formed, Mars was the planet containing a higher percentage that is with a
hostable climate than any other planet is the solar system. Outflow channels and other geologic
features provide ample evidence that billions of years ago liquid water flowed on the surface of Mars.
(https://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msp98/why.html) As said in the article water was on the red planet billions
of years ago. But, was life? As a child growing up, not everyone would have thought this but maybe
they did. We believed that there were

Transcendentalism In La Ley Innata
In La ley Innata, or the Inborn Law by the Spanish rock band, Extremoduro, vocalist Roberto Iniesta
takes us on a journey of chaos, the external and internal aspects of ourselves, and ultimately forms a
poetic and musical masterpiece. Many of the songs on the album are difficult to interpret, which, as a
whole, ends up becoming a series of beautiful words that no one understands. However, because of its
mysterious nature, we look at it from all sorts of angles in an attempt to decode as if it were some sort
of puzzle. In one of the songs, Iniesta says he is looking for [his] destiny, living a deferred life,
without being, without hearing, without giving. I personally think that these lines not only resonate
with Thoreau s transcendentalism, and that humans thrive from within, but also helps us look deep
into what it means to be human and the kind of struggles that we face because we often find ourselves
clinging to our physicality, rather than our spirituality. Furthermore, the fact that Iniesta is looking for
a destiny even though he is living life without being explains that it is his non physical aspect that is
doing the work, not his actual physical body. That being said, Mary Oliver, in Humpbacks helps us
determine how and why our non physical self gives us more answers to the bigger questions we
encounter on a day to day basis and why our physicality gets in the way.
As he looks down on society s structure, Thoreau mentions that the things which corrupt humans

Essay On The Castle
I had never been in the third tier before. It was a place that I did not belong with my coarse shirts and
riding pants, even when they were not dirt covered. It was not just the clothes, there was no illusion I
could put on myself that would make me fit in. There was something about the way they walked that
spoke of wealth and sophistication. The gate to the fourth tier was even more guarded, two guards on
each side in full battle gear. The sound of footsteps drew up eyes upward to see four more guards
walking along the top of the wall, bows in hand. The increased security closer to the castle made
sense, but the fact that the lower tiers that had a higher population had less protection seemed rather
callous. I knew Terrans cared nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The front of the castle past the moot was a lot of green space and cobble stones, but that was all I
could make out in the weak light. I was too panicked to take in details anyway. Instead of being taken
toward the large gate in front of me, I was directed along the wall. There was a small wooden door set
into the base of a drum tower in the wall. A guard saluted and unlocked the heavy wooden door. Kane
let go of me and disappeared through it. I turned to look for an exit, but Captain Saban was crowding
me to go down. I could not move. I took a few deep breaths, but they all got caught in my throat.
Captain Saban nudged me. I took a step forward. It was pitch black inside. I put my hand out to feel
the wall or anything and brushed against Kane. You ll get used to it in a moment. Kane took my hand
and placed it on his shoulder before he started downward. I blinked a few times to try and see my
surroundings, but it was useless. Finally, I unfocused my eyes and gathered the stray light beams from
a torch shining somewhere in the distance. There was not much to see, just stone walls streaked with
grime and water. After what seemed like ages of the downward spiral, in which I thought we might
walk into the center of the Earth where Terran held court, the ground leveled out. We entered a long
corridor, torches blazing at different intervals that made me wince at the sudden brightness and hay
littering the floor. Another guard, this

Nursing Mission Statement Analysis
In an organizational set up the statement of philosophy is defined as an explanation of the systems of
beliefs that determine how a mission or a purpose is to be achieved and it states the beliefs, concepts
and principles of an organization. A mission statement defines the purpose and primary objectives and
the starting points of a strategic planning and goal setting process, which assure to stakeholders what,

When a program is developed there is purpose, a believe, there are values and clear ideas where they
are going and that is the vision. School of nursing philosophy is formed based on the institution and

The Main Idea Reformation Of Jews

oppression. Secondly people cried for deliverance from suffering. Third was to sincere trust in God.
There is no king saved by multitudes of an host [Luther 301]. Fourth, we must humbly fear God.
Many Germanys emperors were shamefully oppressed and trodden Popes. Fifth, Romanist with great
adroitness had built three walls. Sixth, King and Princes were intimidated make them believe it would
be an offence against God not to obey them in all these knavish, crafty deceptions. Seventh, It is pure
inventions that Pope, Bishops, Priest, and monks are to be called the spiritual estate ; princes, lord
artisans, and famers the temporal estate. That indeed a fine bit of lying and hypocrisy. Yet no one
should be frightened by it; and for this reason viz., that all Christians are truly of spiritual estate ; and
there is among them no difference at all but that of office , as Paul says in 1 Corinthians xii, we are all
one body yet every member has its own work, whereby it serves every other, all because we have one
baptism, one Gospel, one faith, and are all alike Christians ; [Luther 302] for baptism, Gospel and

Multicultural Empires
Multicultural Empires and the New World
The Seljuks were pressuring the Byzantine Empire the second half eleventh century. Much to their
demise the Byzantimes challenged the Turks in 1071, in modern day eastern Turkey (then Manzikert).
The Turks now had control over most of the Anatolian Peninsula. The Byzantine empire went to the
west for assistance out of desperation. Western European Christians wanted to stop the spread of Islam
and take back the Holy Land, located in the Eastern Mediterranean. They followed the words of Pope
Urban II plea to go to war against Muslim forces. He stated, it was God s will. The Pope was able to

The Misfit
The Misfit and The Grandmother
A Good Man Is Hard To Find authored by Flannery O Conner revolves around the themes of mistrusts
of others and grace. She uses two main characters to depict these two themes, The Grandmother and
Misfit to expound the themes of mistrusts of others and grace respectively. He depicts The Misfit as a
person lacking grace and has distrust or others, including Jesus and Christianity in general. The story
has some intense conflict, because there is also a deceitful grandmother with her own objective. To
further his point, he paints the Misfit as a murderer and a person who finds pleasure in meanness. A

O Conner uses these themes to really help the reader see the development in the characters. She uses
three major themes, family, religion, violence, and of course grace. The story opened up with a family
that wanted to go on a vacation. The grandmother is one of the two main characters in this story. In the
beginning of the story the grandmother seems a bit traditional she wants to teach her grandchildren to
respect their elders. She offers some parenting advice to her son and daughter in law but they
disregard her ideas. It is obvious she still has a large say in what happens in the family because the
family ends up vacationing where she wants to. Then of course there is the Misfit his character in this
story is a multifaceted one. On the surface he is a criminal an outcast even. It is clear he has doubt in
himself he feels like he doesn t fit in anywhere, he has no family and he is alone, which makes him
seem like a maddened individual. Religion was brought up earlier and again O Conner made it clear
that there were references to Christianity. The grandmother is trying to convince the Misfit to have
mercy on her and her family she tries to tell him that he is a good

In reality, of course, it s just the reverse. Clear, tough minded people are the most simple.
According to Tichy and Sherman (1993), Jack Welch saw reality objectively and consistently applied
this orientation. He was willing to face reality, even if it was different from that in the past: Facing
reality as it is, not as it was or as you wish ... facing reality is crucial in life, not just in business. You
have to see the world in the purest, cleanest way possible or you can t make decisions on a rational
basis.
As noted by Locke (2000), Welch was a problem finder, not just a problem solver. When he became
CEO in 1981, General Electric already was quite profitable, without obvious problems. He grasped the
reality that if the status quo continued GE eventually would decline, so he proceeded to transform the
company. Even during his final years at GE, Welch was not content to rest on his triumphs. Thrusts in
the 1990s included a massive quality program ( 6 sigma ), a push further into financial services, and a
string of acquisitions meant to give GE technological leadership in key industries.
A related aspect of Jack Welch s leadership was to set goals that seemed difficult or even impossible
(Locke, 2000). He required that every business in GE s portfolio be number one or two in its industry
in the United States, and later in the world as a whole. Steve Kerr of General Electric described the
GE stretch target as basically an

The revision process for me was difficult. It was difficult because I thought that my ideas were clearly

College Is The Best For College Essay
High school students who are just getting ready to graduate have two choices, either start working or
go to college. Many of those students who want to go to college have to choose what college they
want to go to. Deciding which college to go to can be a hard choice, since going to college is a big
decision to make. Students know that going to college is going to be harder than high school. The
atmosphere is different, and many students are on their own after they make that college choice. Being
hundreds of miles away from home can put stress on the student. Once they feel this stress, grades and
the confidence of the student go down. From the Education Partnerships Inc., they state The best
preparation for college is still a solid high opportunity to develop academic and study skills that can
help assure college success (1). These students need help by trying to figure out a solution that can
best fit their needs. For students to get a higher education they need to accommodate special learning
skills that will enlighten the students mind into getting a degree they want. High school students who
learn how to collaborate with these particular skills will end up going to a college of their choice, get a
better GPA, and have a higher paying job as a reward for the hard work that they showed. High school
students who are juniors or seniors are told that college or real life is right around the corner, and don t

Impact that file format, compression techniques, image resolution and colour depth have on file size
and image quality D2
In this report I will be discussing the different file formats, compression techniques, image resolution
and colour depth. I will be explaining the different purposes, then, after I have issued an in depth
explanation of image quality and file size I will be completing a final conclusion about the best ones
to use for certain tasks.
Seen as there are numerous different uses for images it means that the quality will differ for different
purposes. The formats which I will be discussing within this report include JPEG, GIF s, TIF, PSD and
BMP. All these formats are made for different reasons and I will be explaining these differences in
quality and file size. Each format varies in the depth of the colour within the image, some have larger
colour depth meaning that the file size will be larger, whereas, some of these formats have very low
colour depth resulting in a lower quality image. When exporting an image, sometimes there is an
option to adjust the colour depth to your preference, so, the file format could change to your desired
colour depth.
Compression techniques
When compressing a file to make it smaller there are two options which are available, Lossy and
Lossless. Both do the same job, which is compressing the file size, however, they both do it differently
for different reasons, I will explain the advantages and disadvantages of both. The

George Washington And Jefferson s Influence On The...
There are very few people who wouldn t think about George Washington,John Adams and Thomas
Jefferson when someone mentions the Founding Fathers. Without a doubt we can say that they were
three very important men who greatly affected the independence of our country. Out of three,
Washington and Jefferson are more talked about. They helped form this nation into a sovereign and
free country. Both were great men who did so much to shape and protect this country and it is
impossible to say that one did a better job than the other. Washington and Jefferson did what was best
for this county even though they had different views on many issues. Both grew up in Virginia, but
they were from two different class levels of living. Jefferson grew up in more famous and richer
family which gave him many opportunities in education. He went to college where he was introduced
to the writings of Isaac Newton,John Locke, and Francis Bacon which later influenced his political
views. After Jefferson graduated from college he worked as a lawyer and later got into politics. Prior
to his presidency he had many government positions such as Member of Virginia House of
Burgesses,Member of Continental Congress, Governor of Virginia,Secretary of State, just to list a few.
He was well educated in many different fields. Because Jefferson had very good writing skills he was
asked to write the main draft of Declaration of Independence, but when he was done it was edited so

The Rise of America’s Prison Empire Essay
When envisioning a prison, one often conceptualizes a grisly scene of hardened rapists and murderers
wandering aimlessly down the darkened halls of Alcatraz, as opposed to a pleasant facility catering to
the needs of troubled souls. Prisons have long been a source of punishment for inmates in America
and the debate continues as to whether or not an overhaul of the US prison system should occur. Such
an overhaul would readjust the focuses of prison to rehabilitation and incarceration of inmates instead
of the current focuses of punishment and incarceration. Altering the goal of the entire state and federal
prison system for the purpose of rehabilitation is an unrealistic objective, however. Rehabilitation
should not be the main purpose of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While all three are considered prison s goals, punishment is most heavily relied on and rehabilitation,
when attempted, is often halfheartedly executed to uninterested participants. According to authors
Gerald Melnick, et al. in their essay, Treatment Process in Prison Therapeutic Communities:
Motivation, Participation, and Outcome, the lack of motivation an individual prisoner experiences
regarding his success often contributes to his dropping out of an in prison rehabilitation program
(634). Such programs are therefore futile because the inmates who would benefit most from the
rehabilitation are often the most unmotivated and unwilling to participate.
If an inmate does fulfill the numerous participation requirements for completion of an in prison
program, the chances of his continuing treatment are exponentially low. Prisoners often neglect to
extend treatment through the use of after care rehabilitation programs upon release from jail (Melnick,
et al. 636). The benefits of rehabilitation are therefore lost because after care facilities are designed to
further reinforce critical values gained by prisoners during prior rehabilitation.
This means that even if a prison were to offer inmates the most innovative forms of rehabilitation, the
programs would be in vain due to the overwhelming majority of prisoners who would not willingly
partake in treatment. If a prisoner manages to acquire a job upon release, his rehabilitation may still

Persuasive Essay On Safe Spaces
In a recent poll a whopping 36 percent of students felt that safe spaces were necessary on college
campuses according to LendEDU, a student loan organization. Safes spaces provide an outlet for
many who may take offense to material that negatively impacts a student s emotions. Some students
who have had traumas in their life take security in safe spaces due to the guarantee of not being in
harm s way of the lessons they may find offensive. In a world that is not censored from sensitive
material in every location it is apprehensive to put trust into a specific location for security. Although
many would agree safe spaces provide an outlet of security for those who have experienced traumas in
their life, an alternative compromise should be in place to allow students to explore the world from
different perspectives, learn to handle the tribulation of opposition, and to prepare students to
overcome adversity outside of the classroom. Safe spaces on college campuses are defined as a place
or environment in which a person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be
exposed to discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm therefor, it
is wise to find comfort in the ideological sense of security a student would likely find in a safe space.
One of the most captivating reasons students believe in safe spaces is because they allow an outlet for
many who may have had traumas in their life. Many find it appealing that they have a

Analysis Of Jonathan Swift s Gulliver s Travels
Jonathan Swift was a writer known for his use of satire: the application of humor, irony, exaggeration,
and ridicule to expose and criticize. At a glance, the novel seems to be a travel log of Lemuel Gulliver
s adventures, but is primarily a work of satire. Through Gulliver s Travels, Swift strives to satirize the
eighteenth century humanity. Swift was titled a misanthrope, a hater of humanity, his misanthropy rose
from his disappointment in mankind. Swift utilizes Gulliver in satirizing the population, which he was
disappointed with, in each voyage of the novel. The satire used in Gulliver s Travels is used to reveal
how Swift regarded mankind, as societies who did not exist to their utmost potential to be great but
were instead exhibiting the frills of greatness.
Swift was recognized as a man of intelligence and used his intellect to display the anarchy, corruption,
and confusion of the eighteenth century England. He saw the idiocy and the vices behind the façade of
reason and common sense. His intelligence was capable to of identifying evil in all its forms and areas
of presence and he could not endure the lack of reason in any aspect of human existence. His being of
displeased with the ways of people, Swift felt accountable to try to reform it. Corruption in religion
was vigorously criticized along with the impractical use of scientific knowledge in his works. Swift
felt that man could never achieve perfection. He frequently used a mask in his writing, hiding behind

Causes Of Water Pollution In The Huangpu River
Pollution of Water in the Huangpu River Introduction The Huangpu River is located in Shanghai,
China. Goes through Shanghai from South West to North East. It is the water supply to the 13 million
people in the city. It also serves importance for tourism, fishery, navigation, and, most importantly,
receiving wastewater. In the mid 1980s, a control plan for the pollution in the Huangpu River was
made. But exactly how polluted is the Huangpu River? Causes of Pollution (5) (Pollution of the
Huangpu River by percentage (5)) There are four attributes to the pollution of the Huangpu River.
First, wastewater discharged to the Huangpu River contains large amount of organic substances, which
create a significant demand for dissolved oxygen in the water. Second, about 81 per cent of the total
waterways in the city are polluted. Third, the most serious pollution occurs in the urban section,
particularly at the water intake points for the Nanshi Water Treatment Plant and the Yangpu Water
Treatment Plant. Finally, the tidal nature of Huangpu River restricts the release of organic pollutants to
downstream stretches. Wrote the study case that was prepared by Chonghua Zhang and published on

How Did Bill Gates Change The World
According to the Oxford Dictionary a leader is someone who commands a group, organization or
country. Now, ask yourself this: Did Jeff Bezos become the richest man in the world, by commanding
those around him? Did Steve Jobs or Bill Gates change the world of technology. by ordering people
around? No one change the world for the better through absolute power, rather, these people changed
the world by inspiring everyone around them. From my personal experience, and when we examine
history, a successful leader does not lead using fear or commands, but with compassion by inspiring
those around them. Throughout history, some of the most successful leaders have been those who
motivated their followers by giving them a moral purpose. While other leaders throughout history

Comparing Magic In The Eye Of The World And The Magician
Magic or unexplained science, some would say, is the human brain s way of understanding what
appears impossible. Magic is also a way one can feel special because magic allows things to appear
out of thin air or happen instantly and everyone wishes this were true. Everyone person who has an

Myofacial Pain Research Paper
Orofacial pain can affect people in a variety of ways; from minimal pain in which the person can
function normally throughout the day, to severe pain in which they need medical assistance. Dental
pain is the number one cause of orofacial pain, but in some instances, is not always the source of the
pain. The typical misdiagnosis happens when a patient complains of tooth pain, a root canal is
performed, and the patient still has pain. The pain itself may actually be originating from a number of
sources giving a differential diagnosis including but not limited to: myofascial toothache, sinusitis,
migraines, and oral cancer (Balasubramaniam, 2011).
Regarding myofascial tissues, there are typically muscle point triggers which can refer pain to the oral
area. There is thought to be a localized hyperexcitable nodule (Balasubramaniam, 2011) within the
muscle acting as the trigger point which then produces referred pain to a distant region. The
myofascial toothache has been described by patients as being non pulsatile, aching, continuous
(Balasubramaniam, 2011). Palpation of the trigger point is able to set off the seemingly dental pain. ...

Violence In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
No scene of violence exists for its own sake, in reality and in literature. John Steinbeck exhibits this
concept in the literary work Of Mice Men. Violent scenes and events assemble this post civil war
novel to unravel a twisted and somewhat unexpected climax. The climax is not the only purpose that
the violence serves, however. These implicitly gruesome scenes fulfill foreshadowing, emphasize
existing concepts, acknowledge seemingly irrelevant events, and present themes. From the first pages
of the book, John Steinbeck describes Lennie as huge and tremendously strong. This theme of being
stronger than one realizes is carried on all the way through to the end of the novel. Naturally, violence
has to be implemented to support this theme. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Small moments such as seemingly irrelevant conversations were signified by acts of violence. The
smallest moments signified by violence is the conversation amongst George and Lennie in chapter two
in which George tells Lennie Don t you even take a look at that ____. I don t care what she says and
what she does. I seen em poison before, but I never seen no piece of jail bait worse than her. You leave
her be. Followed by Lennie crying out I don like this place, George. This ain t no good place. I wanna
get outta here. This exchange of words is the first indication of foreshadowing to Lennie killing
Curley s wife and general evidence that terrible events are to come. Another moment that was
acknowledged by violence is a conversation between George and Slim in which George says ...Why
he d do any damn thing I tol him... This one statement out of his entire paragraph introduces Lennie s
obedience as a theme within the book as well as evokes foreshadowing to George s process of killing
Lennie; George uses Lennie s obedience to him to keep him from seeing the gun in his hand and
giving him a saddening last moment. A subsequent example of the previous is also in chapter three
following Carlson killing Candy s dog; Candy tells George, I oughtta shot that dog myself, George. I
shouldn t oughtta of let no stranger shoot my dog. This moment is signified by George shooting and
killing Lennie himself at the very end of the work before

Racial Inequality
What do you think about racial inequality in the classroom, at work companies, and in the society?
Racism plays a big role in the United States. For Blacks racial inequality existed from the very
beginning. The whole black society wasn t free. Americans overwhelmingly agree that prejudice on
the basis of race, ethnicity, and sex is not good. To begin with, what do u thinks about racism in the

Climatic Elements Of Osamu Shashin
Fast forward to 1960 s and we have a figure who revolutionized manga and made it what modern
manga is today. This figure was named Osamu Tezuka. Before him, manga was drawn like a play,
with characters entering the left stage and the right stage. Tezuka, revolutionized this by taking his
experiences from watching German and French movies, and adding a cinematic element to his manga,
making it more movie like and dynamic. He put in more panels and more pages to create dynamic
movements and expressions. He wanted to put more emotion into his works. He wanted his manga to
portray more than just laughs, but wanted them to convey feelings of sadness, anger and hatred
(Thorn, Matt). One of his most famous works Astro Boy (1952) was one of the first manga to be
turned into anime. It first aired in 1963. From manga, anime borrowed most of the climatic elements
that Tezuka put into his manga (Zagzoug, Marwah).

Marginalisation of Ethnic Minorities in Contemporary Media...
Marginalisation of Ethnic Minorities in Contemporary Media
In the last decade there has been an enormous change in the nature of the media and the ways people
interact with it. For example, cable, terrestrial and satellite television channels plus widespread cheap
access to the Internet and digital technology have spread rapidly from the USA to many other parts of
the world. In addition audiences are now able to interact with the media to some extent, so they are
able to exercise some control over the form and sometimes the content of the message they receive.
For representation to be meaningful to audiences, there needs to be a shared recognition of people,
situations and ideas.

that black people are often portrayed as criminals. Another example of black people being portrayed

Beowulf And King Arthur Analysis
Beowulf versus King Arthur
Courage, perseverance, and honor are all traits of a hero. Beowulf and King Arthur both share many
qualities of a hero. The epic of Beowulf is about a great Geat that defeats the horrid Grendel of
Denmark. The story, Once and Future King, is about the great King Arthur and how he became king
and his reign in England. Beowulf is a fearless leader that defeats great monsters and deadly giants.
Later in his life he defeats Grendel, Grendel s mother, and a dragon. King Arthur was the outcast in his
family; he did not fit in as a child. As he grows older, his tutor Merlyn teaches him about different
values in life. King Arthur, formally known as Wart, becomes king when he pulls the famous sword
from the stone. Both Beowulf and King Arthur shared many traits that made them epic heros.
Courage is a trait shared by Beowulf and King Arthur or Wart . Beowulf showed courage through the
many battles he fought . Beowulf went to Heorot in hopes of defeating Grendel, the monster that had
been attacking Herot for the last twelve years. This was courageous because he knew that he could be
killed, but he fought anyway because that s what he needed to do. Wart showed courage when he
pulled the sword out of the stone. He did not want to be King of England, let alone at such a young
age. He wanted to put the sword back in the stone or let someone else become King. Wart was
courageous and became King because he knew that was his duty. These examples show that courage

. . (p. 137). The Marquis is a prime example of the French aristocracy that benefitted from the feudal
system in France during this time. It s no surprise that when the Marquis meets his grim end, it is at
the hands of the father of the boy he ran over. A second character of questionable integrity in the story
is Madame Defarge, the wife of Monsieur Defarge, who is an avid participant in the revolution. While
Monsieur Defarge believes that the reformation is a noble cause and wants to see a change in the
social and political system, Madame Defarge s reasons for supporting the revolution are more
personal. It is revealed later in the book that Madame Defarge was the younger sister of a peasant girl
that the Marquis raped. This instilled a hatred of the aristocracy in her from a young age. It seems that
Madame Defarge s main motive is revenge, and eventually this is the cause of her death. When going
to murder the Marquis nephew s wife and daughter, she gets into a fight with the girl s nanny and is
accidentally killed. This book is historically significant because it used the perspective of the French
Revolution to reflect on social inequality in Britain. As Dickens put it at the beginning of his novel It
was the best of times, it was the worst of times. While the clergy and nobles in France were getting
richer and didn t have to pay taxes, the poor were starving from

Rhyme Scheme Of Invictus
Poem Analysis of Invictus (by: William Ernest Henley) By: Nina Lu
The poem Invictus written by William Ernest Henley consists of sixteen lines and is divided into four
stanzas. The rhyme scheme is abab cdcd efef ghgh and there are exactly eight syllables in each line.
This rhyme scheme and the specific syllables to each line help the phrases and lines flow together
smoothly. The theme of the poem is staying strong and thriving in the face of adversity and it is very
strongly present throughout the poem. In the first line of the first stanza, the word night could
symbolize the speaker s suffering and adversity because a common association to the word night is
darkness, which is also commonly associated with hard times in a person s life. ... Show more content

However, in the face of such dark situations, the speaker is still indebted to whatever gods there may
be for his strong and unconquerable soul. This line also makes reference to the title of the poem
because the word Invictus is Latin for unconquerable. In addition, this line connects back to the theme
because the speaker has a strong soul that can t be conquered, even in difficult situations. The second
stanza can be understood to mean that even in the midst of horrible circumstances, he is still staying
strong. This stanza begins with a metaphor that compares circumstance to an animal because both
have the common characteristic of a strong and deadly grip. Furthermore, the bludgeoning of chance
can be comprehended to mean the punishments of fate and even with these punishments of fate, the
speaker s head is still unbowed. He is still staying strong through these hardships, which also relates
back to the theme of staying strong and thriving in the face of adversity. In the third stanza, the
speaker uses the word shade as a metaphor for death because both share the quality of being dark and
mysterious. The third stanza states that beyond the pain and sadness looms the horror of

  • 2. Longboards Research Paper Longboards recently re emerged in the skate scene within the last ten years or so. Previously new school and old school skateboards dominated the scene. However one may perform tricks on longboards, the main difference between skateboards and longboards is that longboards sole purpose is for coasting, street riding and transportation. The red planet is a great discovery as several ask questions such as, Is there water on mars? Or Is there any life on Mars? Well after Earth was formed, Mars was the planet containing a higher percentage that is with a hostable climate than any other planet is the solar system. Outflow channels and other geologic features provide ample evidence that billions of years ago liquid water flowed on the surface of Mars. (https://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msp98/why.html) As said in the article water was on the red planet billions of years ago. But, was life? • 5. Transcendentalism In La Ley Innata In La ley Innata, or the Inborn Law by the Spanish rock band, Extremoduro, vocalist Roberto Iniesta takes us on a journey of chaos, the external and internal aspects of ourselves, and ultimately forms a poetic and musical masterpiece. Many of the songs on the album are difficult to interpret, which, as a whole, ends up becoming a series of beautiful words that no one understands. However, because of its mysterious nature, we look at it from all sorts of angles in an attempt to decode as if it were some sort of puzzle. In one of the songs, Iniesta says he is looking for [his] destiny, living a deferred life, without being, without hearing, without giving. I personally think that these lines not only resonate with Thoreau s transcendentalism, and that humans thrive from within, but also helps us look deep into what it means to be human and the kind of struggles that we face because we often find ourselves clinging to our physicality, rather than our spirituality. Furthermore, the fact that Iniesta is looking for a destiny even though he is living life without being explains that it is his non physical aspect that is doing the work, not his actual physical body. That being said, Mary Oliver, in Humpbacks helps us determine how and why our non physical self gives us more answers to the bigger questions we encounter on a day to day basis and why our physicality gets in the way. As he looks down on society s structure, Thoreau mentions that the things which corrupt humans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay On The Castle I had never been in the third tier before. It was a place that I did not belong with my coarse shirts and riding pants, even when they were not dirt covered. It was not just the clothes, there was no illusion I could put on myself that would make me fit in. There was something about the way they walked that spoke of wealth and sophistication. The gate to the fourth tier was even more guarded, two guards on each side in full battle gear. The sound of footsteps drew up eyes upward to see four more guards walking along the top of the wall, bows in hand. The increased security closer to the castle made sense, but the fact that the lower tiers that had a higher population had less protection seemed rather callous. I knew Terrans cared nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The front of the castle past the moot was a lot of green space and cobble stones, but that was all I could make out in the weak light. I was too panicked to take in details anyway. Instead of being taken toward the large gate in front of me, I was directed along the wall. There was a small wooden door set into the base of a drum tower in the wall. A guard saluted and unlocked the heavy wooden door. Kane let go of me and disappeared through it. I turned to look for an exit, but Captain Saban was crowding me to go down. I could not move. I took a few deep breaths, but they all got caught in my throat. Captain Saban nudged me. I took a step forward. It was pitch black inside. I put my hand out to feel the wall or anything and brushed against Kane. You ll get used to it in a moment. Kane took my hand and placed it on his shoulder before he started downward. I blinked a few times to try and see my surroundings, but it was useless. Finally, I unfocused my eyes and gathered the stray light beams from a torch shining somewhere in the distance. There was not much to see, just stone walls streaked with grime and water. After what seemed like ages of the downward spiral, in which I thought we might walk into the center of the Earth where Terran held court, the ground leveled out. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While all three are considered prison s goals, punishment is most heavily relied on and rehabilitation, when attempted, is often halfheartedly executed to uninterested participants. According to authors Gerald Melnick, et al. in their essay, Treatment Process in Prison Therapeutic Communities: Motivation, Participation, and Outcome, the lack of motivation an individual prisoner experiences regarding his success often contributes to his dropping out of an in prison rehabilitation program (634). Such programs are therefore futile because the inmates who would benefit most from the rehabilitation are often the most unmotivated and unwilling to participate. If an inmate does fulfill the numerous participation requirements for completion of an in prison program, the chances of his continuing treatment are exponentially low. Prisoners often neglect to extend treatment through the use of after care rehabilitation programs upon release from jail (Melnick, et al. 636). The benefits of rehabilitation are therefore lost because after care facilities are designed to further reinforce critical values gained by prisoners during prior rehabilitation. This means that even if a prison were to offer inmates the most innovative forms of rehabilitation, the programs would be in vain due to the overwhelming majority of prisoners who would not willingly partake in treatment. Safes spaces provide an outlet for many who may take offense to material that negatively impacts a student s emotions. Some students who have had traumas in their life take security in safe spaces due to the guarantee of not being in harm s way of the lessons they may find offensive. In a world that is not censored from sensitive material in every location it is apprehensive to put trust into a specific location for security. Although many would agree safe spaces provide an outlet of security for those who have experienced traumas in their life, an alternative compromise should be in place to allow students to explore the world from different perspectives, learn to handle the tribulation of opposition, and to prepare students to overcome adversity outside of the classroom. Safe spaces on college campuses are defined as a place or environment in which a person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be exposed to discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm therefor, it is wise to find comfort in the ideological sense of security a student would likely find in a safe space. Dental pain is the number one cause of orofacial pain, but in some instances, is not always the source of the pain. Regarding myofascial tissues, there are typically muscle point triggers which can refer pain to the oral area. There is thought to be a localized hyperexcitable nodule (Balasubramaniam, 2011) within the muscle acting as the trigger point which then produces referred pain to a distant region. One of his most famous works Astro Boy (1952) was one of the first manga to be turned into anime. It first aired in 1963. It s no surprise that when the Marquis meets his grim end, it is at the hands of the father of the boy he ran over. A second character of questionable integrity in the story is Madame Defarge, the wife of Monsieur Defarge, who is an avid participant in the revolution. While Monsieur Defarge believes that the reformation is a noble cause and wants to see a change in the social and political system, Madame Defarge s reasons for supporting the revolution are more personal. It is revealed later in the book that Madame Defarge was the younger sister of a peasant girl that the Marquis raped. This instilled a hatred of the aristocracy in her from a young age. It seems that Madame Defarge s main motive is revenge, and eventually this is the cause of her death. When going to murder the Marquis nephew s wife and daughter, she gets into a fight with the girl s nanny and is accidentally killed. This book is historically significant because it used the perspective of the French Revolution to reflect on social inequality in Britain.
