Elements Of Catholicism And Voodoo
A religion can be defined as a system of belief that manifest, to some degree, the following eight
elements: belief system, community, central myths, ritual, ethics, characteristic emotional experience,
material expression, and sacredness. Depending on the religion, some of these elements may carry
more weight than others. I will look at Catholicism and Voodoo and the role some of these elements
play within these systems of belief.
Catholicism is a monotheistic religion believing that God is the Creator of all that is. We must love
and serve God in our daily life, through prayer and good works, in order to achieve salvation. The
element of central myths plays a large role within the Catholic faith, as the Bible is the core of

Eucharist is when we receive the body and blood of Christ through the symbols of bread and wine. It
further extends the initiation that took place at baptism to enter fully into the heart of Christian faith
through participation in the Eucharist (catholic.org,2017). Confirmation is the final step of initiation. It
is receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit that unites us more firmly with Christ and strengthens our bond
with the Church. The remaining four Sacraments guide us through the rest of our life. The Sacrament
of Penance is received regularly to confess our sins and seek forgiveness so that we may remain in
God s grace. The Sacrament of Marriage takes place when two people commit to spend the rest of
their life together, anointing of the sick is when a priest anoints a sick person with oil and offers
prayers, and Holy Orders is the sacrament that takes place with the ordination of a bishop, priest, or
deacon into ministry (Molloy, M., 2010).
Voodoo is also a monotheistic religion that combines Catholic and African beliefs and is often
surrounded by many misconceptions. Voodoo has been portrayed by the media as a form of devil
worship and curses, with Voodoo dolls being used to inflict pain on one s enemies (ancient
origins.net). It is practiced primarily in Haiti, New Orleans, and the Caribbean. This religion is several
hundred years old, dating back to when African slaves were brought to America from Haiti. They were
not allowed to practice their African

Internal and External Factors Affecting Uk as a...
Internal and external factors
Within travel and tourism inbound and domestic tourism are frequently changing, there are many
internal and external factors which have a major impact and contribute to these changes. In this
assignment I am going to analyse 3 internal and 3 external factors which affect the travel and tourism
industry.

Strength of the pound
Depending on how strong the UK pound is determines how well the country s economy is; if the
pound is strong this means the country is doing well and vice versa. However this also has an effect on
the number of people that visit the UK, a strong pound actually deters overseas visitors due to them

Economic recession
A recession is a general slowdown in economic activity over a period of time which is longer than a
few months. During recessions many factors are affected such as; employment, investment spending,
household incomes, business profits, bankruptcies and the rise in unemployment rates. Governments
usually respond to recessions by increasing money supplies, increasing government spending and
decreasing taxes.
In 2008 the UK went into a recession, this had a major effect on the value and volume of inbound and
domestic tourism in the UK as visitor numbers fell during the year 2009 as a result of the recession.
In 2007 the UK received 32.7 million visitors, this fell to 31.8 million in 2008 and fell further again to
29.8 million by 2009. Tourists also began to spend fewer days in the UK during their visits decreasing
from an average of 8.4 days in 2006 to 7.7 days

The Love Of Another Is Not An Original Subject For Poetry
Yearning for the love of another is not an original subject for poetry. However, this age old theme is
expressed through the style of Petrarchan love in the poems Love, that doth reign and live within my
thought and Astrophil and Stella 1. Love, that doth reign and live within my thought, was written by
Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey in the mid sixteenth century (Greenblatt and Logan 386). Sidney wrote
his series of sonnets entitled Astrophil and Stella in 1580, describing his relationship with Penelope
Devereux (Greenblatt and Logan 491). Henry Howard in his writing of Love, that doth reign and live
within my thought and Sir Philip Sidney in his writing of Astrophil and Stella 1 collectively express
Petrarchan concepts in their poems. Petrarch was a fourteenth century poet whose writings were
heavily influenced by the tradition of courtly love, however; Petrarch altered the ideal of courtly love
by removing the fulfilled meeting of the two lovers leaving the man with an infinitely unfulfilled love.
Henry Howard s and Sir Philip Sidney s situations are similar in that they are both dealing with a
vexing situation that is constructed around their feelings and expressions of love for a woman. Both
poets express these notions in their writings through their similar uses of meter, situation, and
Petrarchan structure.
Love, that doth reign and live within my thought is Henry Howard s version of Petrarch s Rima 140.
Howard keeps the construction of the Petrarchan sonnet the same

The Writing Of Writing Courses Essay
Writing courses are classes that are there to help students become familiar with formal, written
English as well as come into their own as writers. The curriculum should focus on grammar,
punctuation, usage, mechanics, writing style, organization and clarity and non traditional
compositions. These courses should be hands on, letting students learn from experience; there is only
so much you can learn by reviewing someone else s work. Yet, I have been in many writing courses
where we hardly wrote. This caused the students writing skills to become rusty; we as students lost
interest and no longer participated because of it. Having a writing course turned into a writing seminar
is not only false advertising, but it caters more to the teacher s comfort zone and need to be in control
of what the students read and write. This leaves students trying to gratify their teachers to get a good
grade, rather than improving their skills. In A guide to Composition Pedagogies by Gary Tate, Amy
Rupiper and Kurt Schick, there is a section on the education behind the writing curriculum that states:
The student writes the wrong thing, for the wrong reason, to the wrong person [...] he writes about a
subject he is not thoroughly informed upon in order to exhibit his knowledge rather than explain
something the reader does not understand, and he writes to a professor who already knows more than
he does about the matter [...] (page 156).
Writing intensive courses should be writing intensive to begin

Plyometric Training
Plyometric Training
Kelya Jureczki
Hardin Simmons University Introduction
Plyometric training is intended to increase power and explosiveness. The movement of the exercise
simulates sport specific movements that are transferable for enhanced sport performance outcome.
Plyometric exercises can help athletes increase strength, explosive speed and reaction time, which in
turn will increase speed and vertical height. Activating the stretch shortening cycle increases power
output and concentric phase of the movement (Watkins, 2013). Intensity, volume and frequency are all
factors determined by the players needs for the exact implementation to increase performance.
Functional training use of plyometrics for upper and lower extremities can have a substantial influence
on improving skill, speed and strength. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first phase is the eccentric phase. In this phase the energy is stored during pre loading. Between
the eccentric and concentric stage is the transition phase, called amortization. This phase should be
short in order for the energy to not dissipate. The last stage is the takeoff. In the concentric phase the
stored potential energy is transferred into the movement. The muscle is loaded with a lengthening
motion, followed immediately by a concentric shortening motion. In combination, the series is called
the stretch shortening cycle.
The muscle spindle in the muscle being activated detects a change in the length of muscle. Therefore,
the muscles and tendons react reflexively to provide protection.
Basketball
Basketball requires individuals to change speed, direction and movement. Jumping is also an essential
piece of the game. Therefore, both quickness and power are essential for optimal performance.
Plyometric training can be used as a pre season or in season method of training. Branch (2013),

Consumer Behavior Analysis
Protocols:
Protocol 1 Anticipatory I have been longing for one sunglass for a long time after I accidently stepped
on my old one and broke it. Since summer is on the way, nice and sunny weather has always
reminding me to think about consumption. Unfortunately, I am such a picky person that I determined
to get the perfect fit only for my special. My criteria are primary focused on the quality, brand, and the
style. Probably style can be considered as the most important one because I want everything I
possessed to reflect my personal conception. Price is an important but not most significant element for
me because I tend not to use budget to restrict my preference. Apparently, around Bellingham area, the

Conclusion
It seems like the consumption experience is not rational, at least from my experience. The ideas the
buyer hold at the beginning is not what they think during the consumption process and would change
eventually at the end. Especially buying an expensive item which requires more consideration would
cause great cognitive dissonance at the end. Some buying require active decision making but some are
not. During the retrospective process, buyer always has new wants and somewhat discomfort on the
decision made. I have some trouble defining the new goal want and beliefs into the scheme on the
retrospective stage. In this model, some buyer even thought buy the products, they could still return it

Michael Jackson s purpose is to exhort me, you and everyone who listens to this song to start with
themselves if they want to make the world a better place.
When Michael Jackson released this song, there were hunger and endless wars in some parts of the
world, mainly in Africa. A large number of children was starving to death in those areas. Michael,
through his song, called out people to make a difference in the world by first taking a look and

The listener hears these words by Michael but these words seem to describe our daily experience. This
makes an appeal to pathos, stirring emotions. Michael wants the listener to remember that there are
people in our communities who suffer and that we should first care about them rather than pretending
not to see that they need our help.
As I turned up the collar on my favorite winter coat this wind is blowing my mind.
Although he can remove himself physically from the problems he sees all around him using his winter

The small town society became a stranger when we moved to Maryland. The East Coast had
numerous identities. Two street blocks right next to one another felt worlds apart. The people there
were as culturally embracive as the city, all of them being unique and diverse. A perfect utopia that
didn t formally accept me. Baltimore is where I spent the rest of first grade and much of second grade.
My classroom experience was rather interesting, the education department there wanted us to
experience multiple teachers in one day, group projects, and most importantly the staff wanted to see
students mold their own learning experiences. My initial learning process from Mississippi did not
stop me from quickly adjusting and enjoying school every single day. My home life at the time
matched the same excitement as school. I was going to be a big brother. Months passed since the
move to Baltimore and I experienced so much in so little time. I forgot the place I once called home. I
longed to be apart of the utopia I intruded into. My mother and her fiance had some tension and
decided to move back to their home states.
Mississippi felt like a vague dream. Nothing was comprehensible. I was an observer again. Second
grade felt like a chore to complete. The feeling of disconnect was embodied by the fear of social
interaction. I spent the rest of second grade a quiet mute only wishing not to be noticed. Effort to
change my current circumstances were made during third grade.

and why does the Fed aim for a 2% inflation rate?
Prices change because of the economy. Inflation is represented as a rise in the general price level. For
example, prices of many goods and services such as housing, apparel, food, transportation, and fuel
must be increasing in order for inflation to occur in the overall economy. If prices of just a few types

Ambition In Beowulf, Federigos Falcon And Macbeth
What is ambition? Ambition is the longing to obtain success and power. The literature pieces during
the Anglo Saxon and Renaissance era illustrated the firm aspect of ambition. In Beowulf, Federigos
Falcon and Macbeth ambition is both evident but strong. The characters in the literature pieces
illustrated ambition throughout their triumphant journeys and showcase their braveness, desire, and
power.
Everyone dreams about perhaps one day achieving their goals and dreams that could sometimes be
impossible unless braveness is demonstrated. Why do individuals still try even though their chances
could sometimes be very minimum? Initially, several characters demonstrated the idea of ambition
with their act of braveness. In both the epic poetry Beowulf and the play Macbeth, Beowulf and
Macbeth demonstrated braveness upon many ways. Beowulf demonstrated how you should never be
afraid of anyone or anything size doesn t matter. Beowulf decided to fight the tremendous dragon
without worrying of the outcome. Beowulf showed braveness in the poetry because he did something
that no one else would do, which was to fight the dragon. As mentioned in the poetry no one else
could do what I mean to, here, no man but me (Beowulf 645). Macbeth portrayed his braveness in a
different perspective. Macbeth chased his ambition to become the King he was willing to do anything
for it. Macbeth showed the act of braveness by instead of protecting his king he would kill him.

Animal Welfare In Agriculture
Animal welfare of farm animals is one of the most wicked issues facing America today. The amount of
impact agriculture has on our country makes this issue complex and insolvable. Before tackling this
issue however, it is first important to understand the vicissitudes in how society views animals, the
importance of ideologies and how they impact modern agriculture, and how the agricultural industry
has changed in the last fifty years.
Over the last few decades, public perception of agriculture has shifted, and societal ethics of animal
treatment have changed. Fifty years ago, dogs and cats would never be considered part of the family ,
and treated as so like they are today. Animal welfare was also not on the forefront of the average
American s mind. Socio ethical change such as this, has increased rapidly and it is important to
understand the vital role it plays in the wicked issue of animal welfare in agriculture.
Before delving into societal (social) ethics, it is important to understand the difference between
Ethics1 and Ethics2. Ethics1 (morality) is the set of beliefs that society, individuals, or a subgroup of
society hold about good and bad, right and wrong, justice and injustice, and fairness and unfairness
(Rollin, 2006. pp. 31). Ethics2 on the other hand, is the logical examination, critique, and study of
Ethics1. Dr. Temple Grandin is a prime example of someone who has encroached on both domains.
Much of her work has improved the way in which we handle animals

The Generation Of The Technology
The generation of the technology, the delayed life choices, the impatience, the reliance on our parents,
more commonly known as Generation Y or Millennials, is the generation born between 1980 and
2000. Older generations are always finding fault with what we, the Millennials, do or say or didn t do
or didn t say. The world is changing so fast, we can hardly keep up. It is bad enough we have to push
to learn as much as we can and apply the knowledge effectively, let alone being criticized for every
move we make by our elders, who don t really seem to help matters but complicate them. There are
many labels, mostly negative, on my generation. Some common terms include incompetent, ghetto,
lazy, apathetic, tech savvy, procrastinators, and lacking potential for the world. In some ways these
aim to be true, but in other ways they are far from the truth. I believe that my generation has more
potential than we are given credit for. We are about to graduate, or have recently graduated high
school or college, with some not even 18 years old yet. What has always baffled me is that we are
expected by adults to know what we want to do for the rest of our lives before we re even legal adults.
Yes, colleges have undecided majors, but what happens after college when some people still don t
know exactly what they enjoy? Because of this, we are criticized for not having our lives together and
delaying life choices that traditionally signaled adulthood (Evans, 1) as discussed in Boomerang

Frank Jackson and Physicalism Essay
Frank Jackson and Physicalism
Frank Jackson begins his article by writing about what he feels to be a fatal flaw in physicalism. He
writes a story about a girl named Mary who is raised in a black and white room. In this room Mary
was taught everything there is to know about the physical world. The only catch is she learned only
from media, which was black and white, so she knows nothing of the colors outside this room. After
learning everything about the physical world, she is then given the chance to see color. She will then
learn what color is in the world. For this reason Jackson believes physicalism to be false. Jackson
contends that if physicalism were true, Mary would know what a color looks like before she would

The problem with this for physicalism is that fact Mary would realize how mistaken her knowledge of
other s conceptions has been. Even though Mary would have known all of the neurological processes
in a person s mind, she would not have known the person s actual experience involved in the process.
There would also be facts she did not know about objects, but she would know all physical facts about
them. For this reason it is not any experience the object may have, but a fact about the object itself. In
the article the main point seems to be the fact that, for example, Mary would see red for the first time
she would be learning something. However, physicalism is not threatened merely by the fact Mary
learns something. The factor disproving physicalism is the fact Mary learns something new about the
object that is red. For example she can see a tomato is now read. Her teachings showed her all
physical attributes to the tomato and she would know everything about it. The problem is that she had
no idea what red was until she saw red, therefore she did not know everything physical about the
tomato. If physicalism were true, Mary would have known exactly what the red tomato looked like
before she saw it, including the redness it displayed. After reading the Jackson article I have
concluded that I agree with the points being made against physicalism. The example that I believe
disproves physicalism is trying to

he felt growing up in the States as an immigrant family. After reading the Rodriguez s essay, there are

who did not have the confidence and felt comfortable in English. In public, my father and mother

where they came from but because they were well aware of the fact that they did not sound like

Holistic Core Values Of Holistic Nursing
Holistic Core Values Holistic nursing care involves treating the patient mind and body, as well as
providing comfort through prayer. The overall ideal goal of providing holistic care is treating the
patient as a whole. There are certain standards and guideline designed by the American Holistic
Nursing Association in which establish the core values of holistic nursing (Frisch, 2001, p. 1). This
paper will discuss the core value number three: holistic communication, therapeutic environment and
cultural diversity. Second, an interview was conducted with two co workers Ms. C.D. and Ms. N.S.
and Mrs. T.R., a family member concerning the selected core value. Their opinion concerning the
selected core value will be further discussed in this paper. Third, the concept of healing and cure will
be discussed, including the difference between the two terms. Fourth, a clinical experience will be
discussed in there was no cure but healing demonstrated within the patient. Finally, there will be
details of the healing process identified by the patient, family and nurse. The purpose of this paper is
to discuss significance of core value number three: holistic communication, therapeutic environment
and cultural diversity as it pertains to providing holistic nursing care.

Comparison of the British Parliament and the American Congress

Introduction
I write this essay with the aim of comparing the British Parliament with the American Congress. I
personally think that everybody should know the major differences between political system of the US
and the UK.
First of all, I would like to describe my technical conception in my essay. I separated it in two columns
and on the left side I write about the British Parliament and on the other side about the American
Congress. I tried to draw a parallel between the two systems and the columns, which are next to each
other, examine the two institutes from the same aspect. After each section I summarized what has been

The British Parliament is often called the Mother of Parliaments, as the legislative bodies of many
nations—most notably, those of the members of the Commonwealth—are modeled on it. However, it is
a misquotation of John Bright, who had actually remarked on 18 January 1865 that England is the
Mother of Parliaments , in the context of supporting demands for expanded voting rights in a country
which had pioneered Parliamentary government. The Congress of the United States is the legislative
branch of the federal government of the United States of America. It is established by Article One of
the Constitution of the United States, which also deliniates its structure and powers. Congress is a
bicameral legislature, consisting of the House of Representatives (the Lower House ) and the Senate
(the Upper House ).
The House of Representatives consists of 435 members, each of whom is elected by a congressional
district and serves a two year term. Seats in the House are divided between the states on the basis of
population, but each state is entitled to at least one seat. In the Senate, on the other hand, each state is
represented by two members, regardless of population. As there are fifty states in the Union, the
Senate consists of one hundred members. Each Senator, who is elected by the whole state rather than
by a district, serves a six year term. Senatorial terms are staggered so that approximately one third of
the terms

Why Did Latin American Culture Change
Nueva Granada, now known as Colombia, covered a vast majority of northwest South America. Until
Spain colonized Nueva Granada, the individual tribes had successful government and social
structures. Once colonized, the daily life of the people of New Granada was completely changed. The
changes in every aspect of their lives can be shown by looking at how Colombia was before, during,
and after its colonization. Colombia is a country on the northwest coast of South America. Colombia
shares a border with Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Panama. The Caribbean Sea is to its north
and the Pacific Ocean is to its west (Sturner). Before Nueva Granada was colonized, Nueva Granada

the late 1700 s because of this. On July 20th, 1810, New Granada finally gained its independence from
Spain. One of the most important people who took part in the fight for independence was Simon
Bolivar. Bolivar renamed Nueva Granada Colombia (Sturner). Today in Colombia you can still see
many long term effects that colonization has caused. For example, the majority of the population is
mixed indigenous and white. Also, 81% of people in Colombia are Roman Catholic. The official

How Did Abraham Lincoln Changed America
There has been many great men and women in America that has been an influence in the United States
of America who strived to make the United States a better country. One of the many people who has
been and continues to be one of the great American influential people is the sixteenth president of the
United States, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln strove to do his duties to serve America during his
presidency. He served our country during the time of conflict and kept our country from falling apart
during the American Civil War. Also, Lincoln gave his life for what he believed in. Other people might
believe that there are better American war heroes or technological advances in the United States; I
personally believe Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest because he changed America for the
better through one of the toughest times of war for America, and he put his strong mind into ending
slavery. Abraham Lincoln entered his reign of Presidency during the time of many chaotic conflicts.

The Impact Of Internet On The Level Of Competition
The ways in which the internet will affect the level of competition in this industry and for this case
include the following;
Cost Reduction
In the previous years, the film industry in Japan used to make use of many employees in the
production process. That means that the company spends a lot of money in paying for labor. With the
availability of the internet, there are animated pictures that are found on the internet and can be used
for the film production industry. That means that the number of employees who are used in production
will be reduced. The company will also be able to work in a fast way. That means that the wages that
were paid to the drawer over the three months of production will be drastically reduced (Gardner, and
Howard, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Availability of High Skilled Staff
With the availability of the internet, the companies in the film production industry will be able to
advertise for job vacancies via the internet. Internet adverts usually go wide and broad. That means
that the companies will have a wide variety of staff to select. That means they will get the best skills
from all over the world. Availability of skilled labor will lead to more innovations in the company, and
that will result in company efficiency. Availability of efficient staff usually leads to increased
efficiency that cuts on the costs of the company (Bartlett, Ghoshal, 140).
From the above advantages of the use of the internet, then to is evident that it will be the next big
thing that brings about competition. Companies should invest in technology so that they can benefit
from the advantages that accrue from the use of technology. With a rapidly growing technological
environment, it is advisable for companies to invest more in technology and that will be their biggest
source of competitive advantage (Due, 56).
Strategies That Can Be Adopted
Every organization should have laid down strategies that will help in the achievement of the goals of a
company. The first thing for a company is to set up its goals. The goals will help in determining the
strategy that will be used in a company. A company

Analysis Of The New 2015 Budweiser Lost Puppy
Budweiser Lost Puppy This is an analysis of the new 2015 Budweiser Lost Puppy commercial ad.
This ad was interesting, the speaker is obviously Budweiser; however, typical beer ads would focus on
American audiences over the age of 21. The commercial has no spoken language so it can apply to
any language and any country as long as the same kind of values demonstrated visually are shared.
The audience is not as broad as beer drinkers; maybe it s a specific kind of beer drinkers as well.
Perhaps one who has affection for puppies? One who buys into the classic American dream style
image of sharing a cold brew with a buddy next to your dog and horse. If that sounds nice to you, you
re their target audience. Their purpose is obviously simple; sell more beer. But the way they have all
wrapped it up is interesting. It begins with a Caucasian male, maybe an American in his 30 s, wearing
a hat saying Budweiser. This scene says multiple things about Budweiser, Budweiser is for hard
workers, Budweiser is for cowboys, etc. Then in the next scene a puppy suddenly emerges from a
haystack, from that moment the audience becomes attached to the puppy. It turns into an emotional
commercial in that moment where the puppy pops out of the haystack. That puppy that we ve become
attached to runs outside since it s typical for a little puppy to be curious, and that horse gives him a
little neigh so that continuous to foster the relationship between the two animals. These two have

2. Using the Service Concept to create changes in the Design: Changes in the service concept affect
the organization as a whole, which also involves Service Development. Service Concept is closely
linked with Service Design, which makes it one main component that includes the perspective of the

Mohammad s creation of a trans tribal state occurred during his population of Medina. After he was
persecuted in Mecca, Mohammad sought refuge in Medina. After successfully gaining protection from
its tribes Mohammad sought to make Medina a better place. Mohammad immediately planted crops,
created employment, found water alternatives, and created a town center. After surpassing necessities
Mohammad moved on to his ultimate goal a unified, religious state. Mohammad sought to make

The aim of the Constitution was to unify, this meant that non natives and immigrants would be
considered equal in the eyes of the law. The term, believer, frequently used in the document was not
exclusive to Muslims, the articles clarify that a protected believer could be from a different faith so
long as they agree to the terms of the Constitution. It is important to note that some Muslim countries
today would actually be in violation of the Constitution seeing as they do believe in a hierarchical
social and legal system. The ideal state sought to eradicate Pagan practices from the land by bringing
in other nations for a stronger monotheistic presence. Articles 29 40of the Constitution deal with the
specifications for Jewish tribes, including protection and status. At first glance the extensive amount
of articles seems unnecessary, but Khan points out that each article is specified to show the Jews
equality in the eyes of Muhammad. Each article specified a different Jewish tribe, this showed
Muhammad s acknowledgement of each unique tribe while also stating their equality in his eyes; each
tribe s article is identical therefore no tribe is considered loftier than another. Article 28 states that all
disagreements which cannot be settled between people will be answered by Allah and Muhammad.

Explorers And Voyagers Written Presentation
Explorers and Voyagers Written Presentation:
William of Rubruck was a Flemish and Franciscan missionary and more importantly, a explorer.
Following the orders of King Louis IX of France, Rubruck set out on mission to convert the Tartars of
the Mongol Empire to Christianity, and also to report back on the cultural customs of the empire. His
orders were not unlike other contemporary diplomatic missions of the time, Rubruck s predecessors,
Andre de Longjumeau and Giovanni da Pian del Carpine also followed similar instructions from Louis
IX. Rubruck s reports of his travels to and within the Mongolian Empire are unparalleled on detail and
acute observations. With such details of markets, temples and the separate quarters for Muslim and
Chinese craftsman included. Rubruck s seminal work, The Journey Of William Of Rubruck To The
Eastern Parts Of The World, is renowned for its writing style more inline with a personal memoir,
rather than an officially chartered account. The Journey employs the technique of classical comparison
in order to help its readers understand the events in the court of the great Khans at Karakorum.
However, despite the great achievements in his work, Rubruck is far less a figure of study in modern
day academic study. But this should not be the case. Comparison with his contemporaries and
analysing historiographical trends, is going to prove the Rubruck is far a more reliable source than that
of Longjumeau, Carpine and Marco Polo, and should be treated as

Why Mitochondria And The Cell With Versatile Operating...
Abstract:
Although mitochondria and chloroplasts encodes handful of their own proteins, however, majority of
their required proteins have to be synthesized in the cytosol and translocated into their correct
destinations using specialized transporting networks: TOM/TIM complexes in mitochondria and
TOC/TIC complexes in chloroplasts. Molecular chaperones play critical roles in facilitating functional
competent protein import from the cytosol to their correct destinations, utilizing catalytic motor
components and other transporting channels. Biogenesis of both mitochondria and chloroplasts and
their maintenances in terms of transcription, translation and protein import into their various numerous
compartments requires very tight coordination to overcome energetic barriers, protein aggregation and
protein degradation. This essay describes molecular chaperones involvement in protein import from
the cytosol into these double membraned organelle compartments.
Introduction:
Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell with versatile operating systems (i.e. converts energy
derived from foods into cellular energy e.g. ATP, Amino Acid and lipid metabolisms, iron sulphur
clusters and haem biosynthesis, and also the regulation of apoptosis) (Harbauer et al., 2014, Bolender
et al., 2008, Wiedemann et al., 2004). Equally, chloroplasts are also very versatile and operates several
metabolic and cellular processes (i.e. photosynthesis, amino acid and lipid metabolism, cellular

The Controversial Supreme Court Case Of Brown V. Board Of...
Throughout the history of America issues around race have brought great debate and augments. Being
a nation birthed from ideals of freedom and undeniable human rights, America has failed in being
truthful to its founding. The treatment of African American is an atrocity that stains the history of our
nation s past. Steps have been made to heal the injustice, but they are just steps. In this essay, I will be
discussing school desegregation focusing on the landmark and controversial Supreme Court case of
Brown v. Board of Education and the effect is had on the nation and even the world. Many people
ignore the fact school segregation has not been fixed. The Supreme Court case of Brown v. Board of
Education is just something people learn in their social studies class. Most think this case was the end
of the story and schools were desegregated and everything was happily ever after, but this is sadly not
the reality. The reality is Brown has failed us. The effects can be seen in the schools of today in many
American cities but in this essay, I will use the case of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul to
illustrate the massive shortcomings of this ruling today. The story of school desegregation in the
United States started with a civil action lawsuit raised in the first district court of Kanas on June 10,
1951. Mr. Oliver Brown brought his complaint to the Board of Education of Topeka. The complaint
was simple, [the] plaintiffs were being deprived of the equal protection

Childhood In Twenty One Pilots And Lukas Graham

and emotional establishment created from experiences in life that ultimately develops a person s view
of the world. The world s view of a person also changes with aging, as the world expects differently
from an adult than it would from a child. Childhood is labeled as carefree, full of dreams, safe, and
loving, yet adulthood in seen as stressful, set in reality, hostile, and unsympathetic. The themes of

Osama Bin Laden, A Powerful Leader
Osama bin Laden is a powerful influential leader to his followers. He also has significance approaches
to them as well. Bin laden created a new group in 1988 called al Qaeda ( the base ) to where it would
focus on a symbolic act of terrorism instead of military campaign. A year later in 1989 the Soviets
withdrew from Afghanistan, soon after that bin laden returned to Saudi Arabia to step up fundraising
for the new and more complicated mission (History.com 2009). The pro Western Saudi royal family
feared that bin Laden s fiery pan Islamist rhetoric might cause trouble in the kingdom, so they tried to
keep him quite as they could. Therefore, the royal family took away his passport and refused to accept
his offer to send Afghan Arabs to guard the borders after Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990 (History.com
2009). However, the Saudi royal family did not make it any better when they sought help from the
infidel U.S. instead. Since bin Laden was furious about being snubbed by the Saudi royal family, he
vowed that it would be al Qaeda, and not the Americans, who would one day; prove to be master of
this world.
Osama bin Laden kept his promise when he said that al Qaeda would be the master of the world. Bin
Laden, was best viewed as a terrorist CEO, where he essentially applied the techniques of business
administration and modern management, which he had learned both from his family s construction
business and at the university, to the running of a transnational terrorist

Michael Ignatieff s One Country Saved Its Jews
Even though France s officials didn t help save them, there were other European countries that
protected their Jewish population from the Nazis, such as Denmark. During WWII, Denmark was
occupied by Nazi Germany in 1940. During this time, while the Nazis tried to round up Danish Jews
to send them to concentration camps, there was considerable opposition to the action. In his article,
One Country Saved Its Jews. Were They Just Better People?, Michael Ignatieff maintains that When,
in October 1943, the Gestapo came to round up the 7,500 Jews of Copenhagen, the Danish police did
not help them to smash down the doors. The churches read letters of protest to their congregations.

Neighbors didn t betray them and instead helped them escape and others would provide housing for
the night after running away from the Nazis. Ignatieff mentions the reasons why only Denmark would
protect their Jews when occupied when France gave their Jews willingly. The king of Denmark
promised collaboration with the Nazis, so their relationship between the Nazis was uneasy, but
cooperative. In the same way, the Nazis in turn left their government untouched as Ignatieff states in
the text, The Germans, for their part, put up with this frigid relationship: they needed Danish food, and
Danish cooperation freed up German military resources for battle on the Eastern Front, and the Nazis
wanted to be liked. They wanted their cooperative relationship with Denmark to serve as a model for a
future European community under Hitler s domination. This means it was because of these reasons
that the king, the Orthodox Church, and a few key Denmark politicians were able to threaten the Nazis
when they tried to round up the Jews, because they were able to threaten to stop their compromise if
they took the Jews in

Theme Of Colour In The Great Gatsby
L1 Essay The importance of colour in The Great Gatsby
In the following essay, I will write about the usage and the importance of colour in F. Scott Fitzgerald
s novel, basing my arguments on the text and giving examples from it.
Colour plays a vital part in The Great Gatsby as it helps to illustrate many of the passages and helps
the reader to create a clearer image of what is taking place. It also plays a significant role in the
shaping up of the characters as colour is also associated with them.
The colours that are most frequently used throughout the novel are green, white, blue, yellow and
grey. Each colour has a symbolic meaning and they add to make the novel more colourful and also
more surreal.
In Western culture, the colour green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Involuntarily I glanced seaward and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far
away, that might have been the end of a dock. When I looked once more for Gatsby he had vanished,
and I was alone again in the unquiet darkness. (p.25)
The light is described as minute and far away , which portrays the impossibility of achieving this
dream. Nevertheless, Gatsby seems hopeful throughout the entire novel.
Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us
then, but that s no matter tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther . . . And one fine
morning So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. (p. 171)
In The Great Gatsby, white is mainly associated with Daisy and Jordan and represents beauty and
innocence. When Nick meets Daisy and Jordan for the first time, they both wear rippling and
fluttering white dresses. White is often used to symbolize purity and cleanliness but also emptiness

How Is Gran Torino Related To Sociology
Gran Torino
To what extent has Clint Eastwood portrayed the struggle between different cultural groups within the
film Gran Torino
In the film Gran Torino the director, Clint Eastwood, has shown the immense struggle between the
different races in such a way that is realistic to the modern day today. Strong wiled war veteran Walter
Kowalski, played by director Clint Eastwood, is under going a major change in society. The neighbour
hood in which he has always lived in is in desperate need of cultural acceptance and change. In this
Eastwood film there is massive showing of the evolution of violence. Where it started and how it
ended within the Hmong community.
The main character, Walter Kowalski, has many issues with cultural difference. This stems from his
old fashioned views on life and his traumatic past. Walt has had a previous career in the military and
was involved in the Korean War hence why his views on the Hmong people are very negative. There

At first Kowalski isn t bothered by all the bad in his neighbourhood but this all changes when a
Hmong family move in next door. There are very clear cultural differences between the Hmong family
and the very obsolescent Kowalski. He struggle majorly in trying to accept the fact that his new
neighbours were not of the same culture as him. There is a breaking point in the movie where the
Hmong son from next door, Vang Thao Lor, breaks into Kowalski s garage and tries to steal his classic
car, the Gran Torino. The reasoning behind him doing this is because Thao s cousin is trying to get
him involved in his gang and as an entry ritual he makes him steal the car, thus being non successful.
This major plot line is encircled with the constant violence of Mexican and Korean gangs. The
violence starts with language and suggested weapons and ends up with strong violence including rape
and eventual death of

Self-Destruction Of Family In The Sound And Fury
The Self Destruction of Family in The Sound and the Fury Family. On a good day, family serves as
the ultimate insurance policy: the unbreakable bond and love that everyone is supposed to share with
their family will always be there when needed, in good times and in bad times. For the fortunate ones,
they catch family on a good day. They have close and healthy relationships with their immediate
family and stay in touch with their more extended relatives. For these families, this all contributes to
the creation of a shared community of pride and love that makes each family member feel honored to
represent their family while simultaneously pushing them to be the best person they can be so not to

Compson, also plays a role. This is evident when Quentin is talking about Caddy and said My little
sister had no. If I could say Mother. Mother (81). Here, Quentin is talking regretfully about his sister s
sexual experiences and supposed lack of Southern Lady morals, and he is assigning the blame to his
self absorbed mother, who, to be fair, does deserve some of the blame due to both her unloving nature
with Caddy and insistence on imposing harsh and strict moral codes on her. This, however, is just one
of several ways Mrs. Compson contributes to the dysfunction of her family. Ulrike Nussler explores
this in her essay The Function of Mrs. Compson in Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury. Nussler
accurately describes her as a woman who unwittingly contributes to the decline of the Compson
family (581). Much of this is due to her fixation with old codes of behavior and traditional Southern
values, especially with regards to the strict morality she imposes on her daughter Caddy which
partially contributes to Caddy s promiscuity, something that proves to be destructive and a source of
conflict for both individuals and the whole Compson family. Nussler correctly states that Mrs.
Compson remains inflexible and self centered while exercising a power that proves to be destructive
to the family unit (581). This gets at the two main aspects of why Mrs. Compson s influence on the
destruction of the family can t be underestimated. One, Mrs. Compson is self centered, removed,
stubborn, and apathetic about her children outside of Jason. This is always going to be problematic for
the family, regardless of whether the person who has these traits is a mother, father, son, or daughter.
What exasperates her influence, though, is the fact that she is the matriarch of the family. She holds a
more potent and direct power than of the other family members, and

Embryo Care Ethics
In addition, there is a general difference between embryos in laboratory and embryos in the womb.
The embryo in the womb has a definite chance of developing into a child unless a deliberate human
act interrupts its growth, an embryo in the laboratory can only develop into a child if there is a
deliberate human act (Singer and Dawson, 1988). To appear in a logical thinking, if there is a fire
accident in the hospital laboratory and the fireman has to decide whether to save a newborn baby or
embryos in Petri dishes, which one should he save? Technically, everyone would opt to save the
newborn baby over the embryos in the Petri dishes, but this is not meant to say that embryos do not
deserve a protection at all because of the fact that only one living being is saved instead of other and

It conveys care ethics here in an indirect way. Care ethics is about seeking to sustain a relationship
through contextualization of the care giver s wellbeing and also the care receivers. The early hint of
care ethics were introduced by feminist philosophers, such as Mary Wollstonecraft and Charlotte
Perkins. Care is essential for survival and it concentrates not only just on human prosperity by human
interaction with environment and animals. Moreover, care is also defined as a species activity that
includes everything that we do to maintain, continue, and repair our world so that we can live in it as
well as possible. That world includes our bodies, ourselves and our environment, all of which we seek
to interweave in a complex, life sustaining web ( Tronto, 1993a, p 142 ). The question that are the

You cover the region don t you?
Yes.
So how do you get learning to the people? Are they all in one place or do you have to distribute it?
Yes. That is a great question. We do both. We have 6 regional centers across the country. New
Hampshire, Jacksonville Floriday, . SO those regional centers house roughly 1500 associates give or
take a few, you know of a couple hundred given the site we are talking about, but 1500 on average.
Some of those roles are service, some are sales. Some of the programs we run, because we have large
groups there in the building who are local to each other, some might think of a new hire training
coming into service. Entry level position, just starting with Fidelity, we have a classroom of 20
associates that need a learning experience. We can deliver that face to face. Our facilitators are local,
our audience is local. We have ways and means to deliver the training in person, face to face. There
are other times where we deliver training virtually. SO we may have a facilitator in Maramack
delivering to a class of say 5, but there are other associates around the country sitting in classrooms or
conference rooms that may have 3 5 or 10 people. It is one facilitator delivering locally, in person, but
virtually across the country.

Project Management Institute s Online Certification Program

project management and problem solving techniques of employees in order for those employees to
work in a much more efficient manner to add value to the company. Next, I summarize the Project

and project managers around the world that strive to improve their skills in order to be more beneficial
to the organizations in which they work. Afterwards, a brief review of the history of the TRIZ theory
of problem solving is given. It explains where and why Genrich S. Altshuller developed this detailed
problem solving theory. Lastly, a brief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

credential holders in nearly every country around the world. The company is recognized globally for
its advocacy for project management training, education, and standards. Its certification program
boasts of the importance of certification leading to better trained professionals that are able to earn top
salaries. In addition, pmi.org (2016) states that certificate holders are able to virtually work anywhere
around the world and in any industry with project management procedures.
According to mazur.net (1996), TRIZ is an acronym for the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving.
Mazur.net (1996) went on to report that it was developed by Genrich S. Altshuller, who was born in
the Soviet Union in 1926 where he developed a curiosity for problem solving as he worked at his job
of helping inventors apply for invention patents. According to mazur.net (1996), there are several laws
in the theory of TRIZ. One law mentioned is the Law of Increasing Ideality, which means that in the
process of change, either a system performing certain functions becomes less problematic, or it
becomes capable of performing its functions better, or it performs more

Hamlet Madness In Hamlet
When reading Shakespeare s Hamlet as a class, the first thing that most teachers or professors point
out is the argument/idea of sanity, specifically Hamlet s sanity. I believe that Hamlet is, in fact,
feigning his madness. What I do not know is if I believe this because it is what I was taught or if I
came up with the idea myself based on my own interpretation. When I was taught Hamlet there was
no argument it was just fact that he was faking his madness. Because of my confusion, I came to find
that it may be interesting take out of the play any moment in which Hamlet makes the audience aware
that he is only pretending that to be mad. I want to take out any proof that his madness isn t real. The
argument for legitimate madness is always ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer and
will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward spiral and we
can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act like his is doing so.
These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put an antic disposition on
(Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely. Most of the lines in which he
speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original declaration of it are moments in which he
is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane. By removing this one, small line we effectively
make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without
having concrete proof before the madness starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience
supposed to trust him? Removing this line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are
entirely unaware of this part of his plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is
his plan. The next time Hamlet discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to
Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and
then clarifies

The career I decided to research was that of a Ballistic Analyst. The job of a ballistic analyst includes
examining bullet casings, firearms, ammunition, and clothing. The senior analyst would typically
work in the field at the crime scene, while most of the analysts spend their day in a lab. The majority
of the day is spent looking at something called a ballistic fingerprint. From any of the ballistics used or
found at a crime scene, fingerprints may be found which is what the lab analyst will typically look for
on any given day. After finding or not being able to find fingerprints, they will write detailed reports
about their findings which may be sent directly to police officers or any person in the courtroom that

  • 2. Elements Of Catholicism And Voodoo A religion can be defined as a system of belief that manifest, to some degree, the following eight elements: belief system, community, central myths, ritual, ethics, characteristic emotional experience, material expression, and sacredness. Depending on the religion, some of these elements may carry more weight than others. I will look at Catholicism and Voodoo and the role some of these elements play within these systems of belief. Catholicism is a monotheistic religion believing that God is the Creator of all that is. We must love and serve God in our daily life, through prayer and good works, in order to achieve salvation. The element of central myths plays a large role within the Catholic faith, as the Bible is the core of Catholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eucharist is when we receive the body and blood of Christ through the symbols of bread and wine. It further extends the initiation that took place at baptism to enter fully into the heart of Christian faith through participation in the Eucharist (catholic.org,2017). Confirmation is the final step of initiation. It is receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit that unites us more firmly with Christ and strengthens our bond with the Church. The remaining four Sacraments guide us through the rest of our life. The Sacrament of Penance is received regularly to confess our sins and seek forgiveness so that we may remain in God s grace. The Sacrament of Marriage takes place when two people commit to spend the rest of their life together, anointing of the sick is when a priest anoints a sick person with oil and offers prayers, and Holy Orders is the sacrament that takes place with the ordination of a bishop, priest, or deacon into ministry (Molloy, M., 2010). Voodoo is also a monotheistic religion that combines Catholic and African beliefs and is often surrounded by many misconceptions. Voodoo has been portrayed by the media as a form of devil worship and curses, with Voodoo dolls being used to inflict pain on one s enemies (ancient origins.net). It is practiced primarily in Haiti, New Orleans, and the Caribbean. This religion is several hundred years old, dating back to when African slaves were brought to America from Haiti. • 5. The Love Of Another Is Not An Original Subject For Poetry Yearning for the love of another is not an original subject for poetry. However, this age old theme is expressed through the style of Petrarchan love in the poems Love, that doth reign and live within my thought and Astrophil and Stella 1. Love, that doth reign and live within my thought, was written by Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey in the mid sixteenth century (Greenblatt and Logan 386). Sidney wrote his series of sonnets entitled Astrophil and Stella in 1580, describing his relationship with Penelope Devereux (Greenblatt and Logan 491). Henry Howard in his writing of Love, that doth reign and live within my thought and Sir Philip Sidney in his writing of Astrophil and Stella 1 collectively express Petrarchan concepts in their poems. Petrarch was a fourteenth century poet whose writings were heavily influenced by the tradition of courtly love, however; Petrarch altered the ideal of courtly love by removing the fulfilled meeting of the two lovers leaving the man with an infinitely unfulfilled love. Henry Howard s and Sir Philip Sidney s situations are similar in that they are both dealing with a vexing situation that is constructed around their feelings and expressions of love for a woman. Both poets express these notions in their writings through their similar uses of meter, situation, and Petrarchan structure. Love, that doth reign and live within my thought is Henry Howard s version of Petrarch s Rima 140. Howard keeps the construction of the Petrarchan sonnet the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Writing Of Writing Courses Essay Writing courses are classes that are there to help students become familiar with formal, written English as well as come into their own as writers. The curriculum should focus on grammar, punctuation, usage, mechanics, writing style, organization and clarity and non traditional compositions. These courses should be hands on, letting students learn from experience; there is only so much you can learn by reviewing someone else s work. Yet, I have been in many writing courses where we hardly wrote. This caused the students writing skills to become rusty; we as students lost interest and no longer participated because of it. Having a writing course turned into a writing seminar is not only false advertising, but it caters more to the teacher s comfort zone and need to be in control of what the students read and write. This leaves students trying to gratify their teachers to get a good grade, rather than improving their skills. In A guide to Composition Pedagogies by Gary Tate, Amy Rupiper and Kurt Schick, there is a section on the education behind the writing curriculum that states: The student writes the wrong thing, for the wrong reason, to the wrong person [...] he writes about a subject he is not thoroughly informed upon in order to exhibit his knowledge rather than explain something the reader does not understand, and he writes to a professor who already knows more than he does about the matter [...] (page 156). The amount of impact agriculture has on our country makes this issue complex and insolvable. Before tackling this issue however, it is first important to understand the vicissitudes in how society views animals, the importance of ideologies and how they impact modern agriculture, and how the agricultural industry has changed in the last fifty years. Over the last few decades, public perception of agriculture has shifted, and societal ethics of animal treatment have changed. Fifty years ago, dogs and cats would never be considered part of the family , and treated as so like they are today. Animal welfare was also not on the forefront of the average American s mind. Socio ethical change such as this, has increased rapidly and it is important to understand the vital role it plays in the wicked issue of animal welfare in agriculture. Before delving into societal (social) ethics, it is important to understand the difference between Ethics1 and Ethics2. Ethics1 (morality) is the set of beliefs that society, individuals, or a subgroup of society hold about good and bad, right and wrong, justice and injustice, and fairness and unfairness (Rollin, 2006. pp. 31). For this reason it is not any experience the object may have, but a fact about the object itself. In the article the main point seems to be the fact that, for example, Mary would see red for the first time she would be learning something. However, physicalism is not threatened merely by the fact Mary learns something. The factor disproving physicalism is the fact Mary learns something new about the object that is red. For example she can see a tomato is now read. Her teachings showed her all physical attributes to the tomato and she would know everything about it. The problem is that she had no idea what red was until she saw red, therefore she did not know everything physical about the tomato. If physicalism were true, Mary would have known exactly what the red tomato looked like before she saw it, including the redness it displayed. After reading the Jackson article I have concluded that I agree with the points being made against physicalism. The example that I believe disproves physicalism is trying to ... The British Parliament is often called the Mother of Parliaments, as the legislative bodies of many nations—most notably, those of the members of the Commonwealth—are modeled on it. However, it is a misquotation of John Bright, who had actually remarked on 18 January 1865 that England is the Mother of Parliaments , in the context of supporting demands for expanded voting rights in a country which had pioneered Parliamentary government. The Congress of the United States is the legislative branch of the federal government of the United States of America. It is established by Article One of the Constitution of the United States, which also deliniates its structure and powers. Congress is a bicameral legislature, consisting of the House of Representatives (the Lower House ) and the Senate (the Upper House ). The House of Representatives consists of 435 members, each of whom is elected by a congressional district and serves a two year term. Seats in the House are divided between the states on the basis of population, but each state is entitled to at least one seat. In the Senate, on the other hand, each state is represented by two members, regardless of population. As there are fifty states in the Union, the Senate consists of one hundred members. Each Senator, who is elected by the whole state rather than by a district, serves a six year term. Senatorial terms are staggered so that approximately one third of the terms ... This ad was interesting, the speaker is obviously Budweiser; however, typical beer ads would focus on American audiences over the age of 21. The commercial has no spoken language so it can apply to any language and any country as long as the same kind of values demonstrated visually are shared. The audience is not as broad as beer drinkers; maybe it s a specific kind of beer drinkers as well. Perhaps one who has affection for puppies? One who buys into the classic American dream style image of sharing a cold brew with a buddy next to your dog and horse. If that sounds nice to you, you re their target audience. Their purpose is obviously simple; sell more beer. But the way they have all wrapped it up is interesting. It begins with a Caucasian male, maybe an American in his 30 s, wearing a hat saying Budweiser. This scene says multiple things about Budweiser, Budweiser is for hard workers, Budweiser is for cowboys, etc. Then in the next scene a puppy suddenly emerges from a haystack, from that moment the audience becomes attached to the puppy. It turns into an emotional commercial in that moment where the puppy pops out of the haystack. Following the orders of King Louis IX of France, Rubruck set out on mission to convert the Tartars of the Mongol Empire to Christianity, and also to report back on the cultural customs of the empire. His orders were not unlike other contemporary diplomatic missions of the time, Rubruck s predecessors, Andre de Longjumeau and Giovanni da Pian del Carpine also followed similar instructions from Louis IX. Rubruck s reports of his travels to and within the Mongolian Empire are unparalleled on detail and acute observations. With such details of markets, temples and the separate quarters for Muslim and Chinese craftsman included. • 38. Why Mitochondria And The Cell With Versatile Operating... Abstract: Although mitochondria and chloroplasts encodes handful of their own proteins, however, majority of their required proteins have to be synthesized in the cytosol and translocated into their correct destinations using specialized transporting networks: TOM/TIM complexes in mitochondria and TOC/TIC complexes in chloroplasts. Molecular chaperones play critical roles in facilitating functional competent protein import from the cytosol to their correct destinations, utilizing catalytic motor components and other transporting channels. Biogenesis of both mitochondria and chloroplasts and their maintenances in terms of transcription, translation and protein import into their various numerous compartments requires very tight coordination to overcome energetic barriers, protein aggregation and protein degradation. This essay describes molecular chaperones involvement in protein import from the cytosol into these double membraned organelle compartments. Introduction: Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell with versatile operating systems (i.e. converts energy derived from foods into cellular energy e.g. ATP, Amino Acid and lipid metabolisms, iron sulphur clusters and haem biosynthesis, and also the regulation of apoptosis) (Harbauer et al., 2014, Bolender et al., 2008, Wiedemann et al., 2004). Were They Just Better People?, Michael Ignatieff maintains that When, in October 1943, the Gestapo came to round up the 7,500 Jews of Copenhagen, the Danish police did not help them to smash down the doors. The churches read letters of protest to their congregations. Neighbors helped families to flee to villages on the Baltic coast, where local people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Neighbors didn t betray them and instead helped them escape and others would provide housing for the night after running away from the Nazis. Ignatieff mentions the reasons why only Denmark would protect their Jews when occupied when France gave their Jews willingly. The king of Denmark promised collaboration with the Nazis, so their relationship between the Nazis was uneasy, but cooperative. In the same way, the Nazis in turn left their government untouched as Ignatieff states in the text, The Germans, for their part, put up with this frigid relationship: they needed Danish food, and Danish cooperation freed up German military resources for battle on the Eastern Front, and the Nazis wanted to be liked. They wanted their cooperative relationship with Denmark to serve as a model for a future European community under Hitler s domination. This means it was because of these reasons that the king, the Orthodox Church, and a few key Denmark politicians were able to threaten the Nazis when they tried to round up the Jews, because they were able to threaten to stop their compromise if they took the Jews in ... • 45. Theme Of Colour In The Great Gatsby L1 Essay The importance of colour in The Great Gatsby In the following essay, I will write about the usage and the importance of colour in F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, basing my arguments on the text and giving examples from it. Colour plays a vital part in The Great Gatsby as it helps to illustrate many of the passages and helps the reader to create a clearer image of what is taking place. It also plays a significant role in the shaping up of the characters as colour is also associated with them. The colours that are most frequently used throughout the novel are green, white, blue, yellow and grey. Each colour has a symbolic meaning and they add to make the novel more colourful and also more surreal. In Western culture, the colour green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Involuntarily I glanced seaward and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock. When I looked once more for Gatsby he had vanished, and I was alone again in the unquiet darkness. (p.25) The light is described as minute and far away , which portrays the impossibility of achieving this dream. Nevertheless, Gatsby seems hopeful throughout the entire novel. Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that s no matter tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther . . . And one fine morning So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. (p. 171) In The Great Gatsby, white is mainly associated with Daisy and Jordan and represents beauty and innocence. When Nick meets Daisy and Jordan for the first time, they both wear rippling and fluttering white dresses. White is often used to symbolize purity and cleanliness but also emptiness and ... There is a breaking point in the movie where the Hmong son from next door, Vang Thao Lor, breaks into Kowalski s garage and tries to steal his classic car, the Gran Torino. On a good day, family serves as the ultimate insurance policy: the unbreakable bond and love that everyone is supposed to share with their family will always be there when needed, in good times and in bad times. For the fortunate ones, they catch family on a good day. They have close and healthy relationships with their immediate family and stay in touch with their more extended relatives. For these families, this all contributes to the creation of a shared community of pride and love that makes each family member feel honored to represent their family while simultaneously pushing them to be the best person they can be so not to tarnish or dishonor the family name. Mother (81). Here, Quentin is talking regretfully about his sister s sexual experiences and supposed lack of Southern Lady morals, and he is assigning the blame to his self absorbed mother, who, to be fair, does deserve some of the blame due to both her unloving nature with Caddy and insistence on imposing harsh and strict moral codes on her. This, however, is just one of several ways Mrs. Compson contributes to the dysfunction of her family. Ulrike Nussler explores this in her essay The Function of Mrs. Compson in Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury. Nussler accurately describes her as a woman who unwittingly contributes to the decline of the Compson family (581). Much of this is due to her fixation with old codes of behavior and traditional Southern values, especially with regards to the strict morality she imposes on her daughter Caddy which partially contributes to Caddy s promiscuity, something that proves to be destructive and a source of conflict for both individuals and the whole Compson family. Nussler correctly states that Mrs. Compson remains inflexible and self centered while exercising a power that proves to be destructive to the family unit (581). This gets at the two main aspects of why Mrs. Compson s influence on the destruction of the family can t be underestimated. One, Mrs. Compson is self centered, removed, stubborn, and apathetic about her children outside of Jason. This is always going to be problematic for the family, regardless of whether the person who has these traits is a mother, father, son, or daughter. What exasperates her influence, though, is the fact that she is the matriarch of the family. She holds a more potent and direct power than of the other family members, and ... The embryo in the womb has a definite chance of developing into a child unless a deliberate human act interrupts its growth, an embryo in the laboratory can only develop into a child if there is a deliberate human act (Singer and Dawson, 1988). • 51. Hamlet Madness In Hamlet When reading Shakespeare s Hamlet as a class, the first thing that most teachers or professors point out is the argument/idea of sanity, specifically Hamlet s sanity. I believe that Hamlet is, in fact, feigning his madness. What I do not know is if I believe this because it is what I was taught or if I came up with the idea myself based on my own interpretation. When I was taught Hamlet there was no argument it was just fact that he was faking his madness. Because of my confusion, I came to find that it may be interesting take out of the play any moment in which Hamlet makes the audience aware that he is only pretending that to be mad. In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer and will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward spiral and we can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act like his is doing so. These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put an antic disposition on (Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely. Most of the lines in which he speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original declaration of it are moments in which he is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane. By removing this one, small line we effectively make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without having concrete proof before the madness starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience supposed to trust him? Removing this line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are entirely unaware of this part of his plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is his plan. The next time Hamlet discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and then clarifies ...
