Graves Disease
In the 19th Century (1801 1900) Robert Graves discovered Graves disease and that s why its
named Graves disease. Graves disease is an auto immune system disease that affects the thyroid. It
is due to an abnormal immune system response that causes hyperthyroidism which is when the
thyroid gland to produce too much thyroid hormone. The most common cause of hyperthyroidism is
Grave s disease.
The thyroid is a small butterfly shaped gland in the front of the neck. It makes hormones called T3
and T4. They regulate how the body uses energy. Thyroid hormone levels are controlled by the
pituitary, which is a pea sized gland in the brain. It makes thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH),
which triggers the thyroid to make thyroid hormone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no cure and its not contagious. The main treatments for Graves disease are:
Pills
radioactive iodine, which is a pill you take that uses radiation and destroys the thyroid. Cures the
overactive thyroid. Then you take a pill to give you thyroid hormone that your body can no longer
make.
Surgery to remove all or most of the thyroid. It cures the overactive thyroid but you have to take a
pill to give you the thyroid hormone that your body can no longer make.
The treatment that is best for you will depend on many factors and is something that your doctor
will help you figure out. Without treatment, Graves disease can have many complications including:
Heart disorders.
Brittle and weak bones.
Thyroid storm. Which is rare, but life threatening response that happens if Graves disease is

Silver Dollar City Research Paper
My favorite smell is the smell of fresh burning wood of bonfires. As I breathe in the smoky smell
of fire, I start to picture Silver Dollar City. I begin to hear the crowds of people stepping on the
crunchy leaves and making sounds of delight when they see their favorite roller coaster. I can
picture the thrilling sensation and hearing the screams of happiness as I walk by a ride. I

St Albans City Dc V International Computers Ltd
St Albans City and DC v International Computers Ltd [1996] 4 All ER 481 The case of St Albans
City DC v International Computers Ltd, which took place in the year 1996 at the court of appeal,
concerned the sale of computer software between a council body and a large software company. St
Albans District Council had the responsibility to collect a poll tax from its residents. The council
hired, International Computer Limited, via invitation to tender, to provide them with the software
to calculate the population required to pay the community charge. A software malfunction resulted
in an over calculation of the population by approximately 3000 people. Consequently the council
lost ВЈ484,000 (primary loss) in revenue, plus an additional ВЈ830,886 by way of interest and a
further loss of ВЈ685,000 (secondary loss). As a result of the loss, St Albans District Council sued
International Computers Limited for breach of contract. Ratio Decidendi St Albans district council
were awarded damages of ВЈ1,314,846, however, on appeal this was reduced to allow St Albans
District Council to only recover the secondary losses of ВЈ685,000 as well as ВЈ145,886 interest,
this was due to the fact that the primary loss of ВЈ484,000 had already been recovered from the
poll tax payers in the subsequent year. Obiter Dicta Lord Glidewell stated that he agreed with the
decision made by Nourse LJ, that International Computers Limited were in breach of an express
term of their contract with St Albans City

The Role Of Cognition When Participating At The Communion...
This paper will critically discuss the role of cognition when participating at the communion table.
It will explore the question, does understanding at a cognitive level play a crucial role in
receiving what the sacraments are conveying? Role of Cognition. Cognition is a term referring to
how a person understands and acts on different issues. These skills are transformed into signals
that our brains can understand, everything from something very simple to something extremely
difficult. They are to do with the means of how we pay attention, listen, remember, work out,
learn, and even believe. At every age people are curious and have a desire to seek and uncover
facts. Even though all people are seeking for something today spirituality... Show more content on

The Lord Supper was established to help us remember what Christ has done for our salvation.
All who are going to partake of the Lord s supper should examine themselves first and deal with
any problems and difficulties that they have in their hearts and life. The celebration must be set
apart from the pagan festival, and each person must be conscious of what happening as they
partake. The Lord supper is an unsophisticated ceremony, where believers can meet and partake of
bread and wine, it is a sacred act of thanksgiving communion and remembrance. Furthermore, it is a
sacrament that should be received repeatedly where continuing fellowship with God and his people
can be obtained. As we participate in the Lord s supper then the past becomes the present and we
are sharing in the once and for all sacrifice of Calvary but that is not all it is also predicting the
future fulfilment of Christ returning. The significance of cognitive awareness in connection with
receiving what the sacrament is conveying can be seen in the numerous ways that Christians have
understood the rituals. Throughout history, between the different Christians denominations there
has been much dispute over the different understandings of the Lord s supper. The two statements
that have caused major problems are in Luke 22:17 22 where Christ declared to the Apostles Do
this in Remembrance of Me , and in Mark 14:26 29 where Christ states that his body is the

Barrington Irving s Decision
It is important for people to make their own decisions in life. People would not be able to
function if they didn t have the ability to make decisions for themselves. Everyone learns from
their mistakes and grows as a human. You won t do very well in life if you don t take risks and
make a decision for yourself. Making a decision for yourself is a life skill you learn through
making choices for yourself. No one will ever be able to be independent in the real world. In the
story, Barrington Irving, Pilot and Educator the main character, Barrington Irving, made a
decision to fly around the world independant. But that wasn t the end of his journey, he decided
to make a company teaching students about aviation while in an airplane. When he decided that
he was going to get a professional pilots license, he turned down a full football scholarship to the
University of Florida. No one made the decision for him, but this goes further. In order to get
money for flight school, Irving decided to wash airplanes. Then Irving bought a $40 Flight
Simulator at home to practice his skills at flying for the flight school. No where in the story does it

Partisan Stratification
Partisan identification refers to the political party with which an individual identifies and political
socialization can be defined as the process by which people form their ideas about politics (Hershey
2016, pg. 127). Both of these terms are important for understanding how individuals identify with
the parties they do and how in doing so can affect both the perception of the candidate and the level
of participation. Political socialization often times begins during childhood; most parents do not
consciously indoctrinate their children into partisanship, but they are nevertheless the main
teachers of political attitudes. This early identification, according to Hershey, takes hold before
children have much information as to what the parties

Ap Euro Dbq French Calendar
Despite its massive changes and unorganized chronological system, the new calendar is best
understood as revolutionary propaganda, because its main objective was for France to adopt its
own ideas and shift its culture in a different direction. In document six written from a village in St.
Quirin are joyed by the splendid deeds that the National Convention has brought upon them, and
that they are gladly spending the new 10th day resting. I believe that these people are trying to
show the government that they are enjoying the new calendar and that they are very glad to have

This peasant does not agree with the new revolutionary standards and believe that the new calendar
is not favorable, this shows that they are siding with the old ideals. PierreВJoseph Denis says in
document nine that the french used this calendar as an act of despotism forced on the people and
the festivals based on it were detestable. This document is saying the the french government does
not use the calendar to help people, but rather spread absolute power (despotism) upon its people.
In other words the calendar is doing exactly the opposite of what was intended to happen. This
document is highly anti revolutionaryВcalendar as it is shown that the writer is showing its hatred
towards what seems to be a use of propaganda by the calendar upon the french people.
FrancoisВSebastien Letourneux states in document nine that the calendar is the work of Frances
finest astronomers and that the enemies of france are ignorant and in bad faith. He also says that
all who complain about the work days being too long are lazy and that real hardworking citizens
are appreciative of the new calendar. This document is trying to say that the new calendar is the

U.s. Foreign Exchange Market
If you ever traveled to a foreign country preferably outside the tourist traps and spent money, you
probably had to exchange your domestic money for local currency. Regardless of where you made
such a trade, such as at a currency exchange kiosk when you landed at the airport, the fact that you
successfully transacted two, completely distinct currencies related by an exchange ratemeans that
you were, for the briefest of moments, a participant in the nearly $4 trillion a day foreign
exchange market, or forex. But it is unlikely that such a gargantuan turnover is the appreciable
result of money changing by spendthrift globetrotters. Rather, in today s globalized economy,
any institution, from a small export business to a central bank, is liable to have a hand in the
currency and therefore the purchasing power of a foreign country. While the foreign exchange
market may seem like a complicated world of arcane finance, it is not only possible for you to
actively participate in it, but there is a highly developed infrastructure of individual or retail forex
trading ready for your attempts to turn a profit from besting the ever changing exchange rate
between currencies. While a professional comprehension of forex trading entails far more practical
and conceptual knowledge than this process paper can capture, good preparation and a methodical
understanding of the fundamentals of forex practices can help you develop the basic skills to get
started in retail forex trading.

Christian Supernatural Of The United States
Christian Demonic Exorcism in the United States
The act of possession was a considered a source of illness that required a ritual type of healing to
remove the demons or spirits taking control of that its host. Exorcism was used as this type of
healing that occurred all around the world, including the United States. Christianity believed that
there were demons that harassed, tormented and possessed humans which came from the New
Testament. We learned that Satan was in charge of these acts in which being possessed gave new
skills and strength because of the demon inside of them. From the New Testament, Jesus was able
to perform exorcisms simply by demanding these demons to leave its host and soon after his
disciples used this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were other ways exorcism became popularized like the movie, The Exorcist, a 1973 film
directed by William Friendkin, it is about a girl who starts acting odd and her mother seeks
medical help which did nothing until a local priest advises her to get a specialist to perform an
exorcism. This movie had to be the scariest of the time and it traumatized many viewers due to
its graphical images and also knowing that it was loosely based on actual events. This movie
was inspired by the book based on true events from the exorcism of a demon on a 14 year old
boy that lived in Mount Rainier, Maryland. The author read news concerning the boy and that
medical attention did not relieve any symptoms such as violent episodes and outbursts of foul
language. He claimed that the boy spoke a different language and was moving across the room
on his bed while asleep. This type of behavior could have been mental illness, or the case of
actual demons possessing the body of the child. Cases like these attract attention throughout the
cities and some are real and others are just fabricated. During these rituals, the greatest danger to
the exorcist is becoming possessed by the demon or Devil himself. This is why most priests need
to be free of sin so the evils spirits cannot take advantage of this and use it as punishment against
them otherwise the demon will easily take over. Malachi Martin claimed in his book, Hostage to
the Devil (1976) that the successes from doing

Chanda s Secrets, Allan Stratton demonstrates the crucial effects of moral judgement leading to
broken relationships, a lack of confidence, fear, and even death. Throughout the novel, it is clearly
shown that judgement from others can deteriorate relationships. Although Mrs. Tafa does not
succeed in ruining Chanda and Esther s friendship, Mrs. Tafa still has an impact on it. Chanda
becomes a little more cautious of where she is seen with Esther even though she does not care
about the rumours about Esther, Chanda wants to please Mama. Mama shows her concern by
saying Chanda, folks judge other folks by the company they keep. I don t want you to be Esther s
friend anymore. I d hate for people to say things about you (Stratton, 74). This demonstrates that if
Chanda stays loyal to her friendship with Esther, her own reputation of how others judge her could

For leasing warehouses in the other five locations, including that in St. Louis, increasing the
number of the facilities but not the size would have higher responsiveness. More facilities close to
the end user can shorten the response time and the transportation cost can be lower. However, the
facility cost will increase by building more new warehouses. The inventory cost will increase too,
since the decentralized inventory will be greater than consolidate all the inventories in one big
warehouse. Therefore, leasing more facilities beside in St. Louis will be more responsive but less
efficient for the company.
Analysis
In the following part, the total cost will be calculated for Option 1: Leasing more warehouse space

next three years of both options included the facility cost, inventory holding cost and the UPS
charges. In the calculation, we assumed that the inbound transportation costs of shipments from

Hoover ran the U.S. Food Administration at the request of President Woodrow Wilson. Hoover
did quite well as the head of the U.S. Food Administration in leading the effort to preserve food

household name and the verb Hooverize was used, and that meant to ration household supplies.
World War 1 officially ended in November of 1918 when the armistice treaty was signed.
President Wilson then appointed Hoover to lead European Relief and Rehabilitation

The Negative Analysis Of Animal Cruelty Video By Sarah...
Envision the average American household having a lovely time watching advertisements on the
television when suddenly a commercial about animal abuse plays and they hear Angel by Sarah
McLachlan. It s the famous commercial that tugged at everyone s heartstrings back in 2007 (http:/
/www.redbookmag.com/life/pets/news/a41805/sarah mclachlan aspca commercial/), but the reason
for its popularity can be described with the elements of an argument. Indeed, an argument is being
made with those sad puppy eyes, and it is one that s being made to appeal the crying audience. The
animal cruelty video by the ASPCA featuring Sarah McLachlanis an example of a successful
advertisement for these reasons: it s use of emotion, logic, and credibility.
The first, and most prominent, reasoning behind the commercial is emotion, or pathos. An
argument should include an emotional connection to the audience to make logic and credibility

Industrialization Impact
Industrialization
Industrialization had many different impacts in American history. One of the impacts that
industrialization had was increasing wealth in the U.S. Many business managers, and investors
/entrepunuer took financial risks of starting factories and they earned many rewards. By factory
s, the overall amount of goods and services started increasing, because of the fact that factory s
can produce goods much faster than a human. However men were still needed to operate the
machines, and there were job opportunities. This led to the increase of population in the United
States. Many immigrants traveled to the u.s to escape the harsh life s they have been living, they
thought these job opprutinitys were a way to start a new life, a new beginning, this is why
industrialization also increased population in the U.S. American ingenuity and also was on the rise
and people thought of many new inventions to make life easier. There was also an abundance of
resources so they did not need to worry about resources for their inventions.
There were many major inventions, however the Bessemer process was the first inexpensive
industrial process to mass produce steel from iron. It inspired and sparked the industrial revolution,
it was a big scale project. The Bessemer process worked by taking out impurities from pig iron
using as an air blast. Andrew Carnegie s time was dedicated to the steel industry. His business,
Carnegie Steel Company, revolutionized steel production in the

Abstract
Alzheimer s disease (AD) is one of the most widespread forms of dementia in the aging population.
Unfortunately, most cases of AD are sporadic in nature and the underlying etiology is unknown.
Thus far, the majority of the experiments have been based on transgenic mice models where
amyloid aggregations are the causal initiator of AD. However, recent evidence has suggested that
chronic inflammation may precede the induction of late onset AD neuropathology. To demonstrate
the role of neuroinflamamtion in late onset development of AD, we injected a viral mimic
polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (polyI:C) to C57BL/6J pregnant mice during gestational day 17
(GD17). A subset of the pups were exposed to a second injection at 12 months of age to observe
whether a second immune challenge would increase the rate of AD development. The aged mice
were subjected to a cued fear conditioning task to measure their cognitive capacity, and
immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry to detect any neuropathological changes. PolyI:C
injected mice failed to show any significant cognitive impairments following their

The Worst Damage Of Sonoma County
Earthquakes are something that happen every day all around the world. Most earthquakes are very
small and go unfelt, however every once and while there are massive earthquakes that cause
tremendous damage to life and property. Sonoma County has a lot of fault lines running through it.
These faults line are; the San Andreas Fault, the Rodgers Creek Fault, the Maacama Fault and the
Healdsburg Fault. Since 1855, there have been more than 140 earthquakes that have actually been
felt where we live in Santa Rosa Area Of the earthquakes that have cause damage, the worst
damage was caused by; 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, 1969 Rodgers Creek/ Healdsburg Fault
Earthquake, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, 1994 Northridge Earthquake. We should use the data
of past earthquakes in our area to help come up with a plan in case there is another major
earthquake in Sonoma County. Data suggests that there is a 63% probability of at least one
magnitude 6.7 or greater earthquake striking somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area before
the year 2032. The key to surviving and earthquake is to be prepared. Earthquakes are caused
when two blocks of earth suddenly slip past one another. The surface where the two blocks slip is
called the fault. The earthquake starts below the earth s surface at the hypocenter, and the location
above the hypocenter is called the epicenter. Earthquakes can have foreshocks which is a smaller
earthquake that happens before the larger quake. Earthquake can also

Controversy Surrounding Research And Therapeutic Use Of...
Controversy surrounding research and therapeutic use of stem cells has been a contentious and
socially polarizing matter for a few decades. Arguments lie largely between the scientific
community and the general public, although intragroup disagreements also persist today. These
disparate views for and against stem cells arise out of the bioethical implications of an inchoate
innovation, the general public s tenuous understanding of the underlying technology itself, and
sociopolitical ideologies. Due to the somewhat aged debate, recent revelations and advancements
have changed the principle arguments and should be addressed accordingly. In order to understand
arguments against the use of stem celltechnology in the United States, it is crucial to understand
the sociopolitical background of its constituents. America is well known for having a varied and
diverse ethnic background composing of immigrants from around the world, but in 2012, 73% of
Americans claimed Christian affiliation (3). This overwhelming majority of Christianity means that
its accompanying religious beliefs emerge in many aspects of our sociopolitical ideology. Much of
the opposition to stem cell technology is grounded in the Christian tenet of anti abortion, which is
the source of embryonic stem cells. Although embryonic stem cells are still the gold standard in
research and therapeutic use, use of non embryonic stem cells such as induced pluripotent stem
cells is rapidly increasing and does not require

Advantages in nanoparticle drug delivery include improved pharmacokinetics, reduced side
effects and longer circulation half lives.1 In addition, nanoparticles may be able to achieve
improved delivery of sparingly water soluble compounds by delivering a small particle size to
increase the total surface area of the drugs allowing faster dissolution in the blood stream. These
benefits have made therapeutic nanoparticles a promising candidate to replace conventional
chemotherapeutic protocol, eliminating toxic agents and dose limiting side effects which pose a
threat to healthy tissues. The purpose of this review article on nanoparticles is to show the
promise of delivering a range of molecules to desired sites in the body to treat cancer. In addition, it
highlights numerous areas of opportunity where nanotechnology could enable innovative classes of
therapeutics.

Correlation of Wood Type and Surface Coatings with the...
Wood is a porous material because of its cellular structure which allows for many internal voids
(Eckelman). The plant cells located within wood are made to absorb water, as it is necessary for
the functionality of the tree ( Wood and Water , 2006). When wood first absorbs water, the water
is transported and held within the cell walls. However, as these walls cannot hold a large amount
of water, additional water fills the cavities of tubular cells within fibers of the wood. Wood is also
categorized as a hygroscopic material. This allows for wood to naturally absorb and dissipate water
within its contiguous environment. Density and water diffusivity of the wood affect the rate of
absorption of water in wood (Noorolahi, Khazaei, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Latex paint is a formulated polyvinyl material with an acrylic resin. Oil based stain is highly
effective in repelling water as oil is hydrophobic (Dasch, 2003). A previous study by Sivertsen
concluded that untreated, low density wood absorbed more water than high density wood. Their
results also showed that, with a waterborne topcoat and no primer, the higher density wood sample
absorbed more water (Sivertsen). However, this experiment was done using softwoods, and
therefore the results may differ for hardwoods.
This experiment was an observational study of the correlation of wood species and surface
coatings to the water absorption of wood. I took data on the amount of water absorbed by red
oak, red maple, aspen, and balsam poplar wood of the same volume, but with varying surface
coatings. My control group was left untreated, leaving the wood in its natural state. The four
samples of wood in the other two groups were painted with latex paint and oil based stain
respectively. The twelve total samples were then placed into buckets filled with water. At the end
of seven days, the amount of water absorbed by wood was determined by measuring the amount
of water remaining in the buckets. My hypothesis was that the species of wood and surface
coatings do influence the amount of water absorbed by the wood. I believed that the surface
coatings applied to the wood would aid in preventing a greater amount of water absorbed than in
the wood s natural state, and that

step. When we come out only once a month, most of the ideas that were relevant at the time of
story ideas are stale and old news by the date of distribution. By coming out more often, we
would be able to avoid this problem. For this idea to work, we would shorten the length of each
individual Wolfpacket issue to 6 pages instead of 12 (i.e. A E being one page instead of two.)
We then divide editors into teams and then alternate section responsibilities every issue, like a
block schedule of sorts. To illustrate what I m saying, let s apply this bimonthly publication
practice to the Opinions section. In this example, I would create the Opinions page for the first
publication of the month, and Ohana would create it for the second. Editors and reporters would
both have the same amount of work per month as we do with the current press schedule as there
would be the same total pages made and articles written. By dividing up monthly 12 page issues
into bimonthly 6 page ones, the Wolfpacket would be able to address more pressing and current
issues within a reasonable time frame without demanding much extra work from the

Analysis Of Frankenstein And The Island Of Dr. Moreau....
Throughout history we have had times of innovation and creation, we have tried to control nature
and have succeeded in some aspects, however; humans are not truly sovereign over nature, and we
have never achieved a perfect creation. In both Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, and The Island of Dr.
Moreau by H.G Wells, man s creation ends up destroying them which essentially symbolizes that
man cannot truly act as a godbecause he will surely fail in a catastrophic manner, almost as if man
is being punished for acting as a false god; it is also shown in both stories that the creations that
man makes are attempts to manipulate and master nature, and we see that whenever man even
slightly gives up his control it can lead to unforeseen, almost cataclysmic consequences. These
ideas are most clearly displayed by H.G Wells in The Island of Dr.Moreau, because Moreau
believes that he is above nature and can control the wild instincts of the beast men, and he also
displays himself as a god to the beast men. In Frankensteinthese ideas are more implicitly shown.
H.G Wells does a better job overall of displaying these ideas In The Island Of Dr. Moreau as it is
more explicit when showcasing these ideas. One of the main ideas that is common to both of the
novels is that when man takes the role of a creator or deity upon himself that he fails
catastrophically, almost as if man is punished for this. In The Island of Dr. Moreau, it is apparent
that Moreau created the beast men so he could rule

Reflective Essay On Universal Education
Universal Education Countless countries benefit from a capitalistic system, but others, like
Denmark, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, have a more socialistic giving society,
offering free or low cost schools, universal medical care, as well as supportive welfare to citizens.
The world would gain from a higher quality of free education. My beliefs of a fair universal
education offered to every child, no matter their place of origin, are influenced by experiencing the
benefits of free education growing up in Czechoslovakia, by living in the Netherlands, and the
United States. As a child growing up under the strict influence of forbidden profits of capitalism
and receiving the education free of charge, socialistic ideals shape my worldview. Being born in
Czechoslovakia (the Czech Republicsince 1993) under a communist, socialist regime with
underlying suppressed democracy during the Soviet Union occupation, my worldview is based
on a child s idealistic views of living and equality of people. Even though the restricted media and
a limited amount of imported goods made it easier for the communist government to influence and
dictate the mainstream population, I was shielded from the political world, because I was a child

Gender Roles Are The Way People Act
Gender in Baby Daddy TV show, Essay
Gender roles are the way people act, what they do and say, to express being a girl or a boy, a
woman or a man. These characteristics are shaped by society, (Gender Roles) These roles constitute
the standards of the society and they are transmitted from one generation to another by education.
Children learn these standards since their birth. Parents teach them how to act, to say and to behave

The Models Of Fayol And Barnard Essay
Introduction
In this essay, I will analyse and compare the traditional models of Fayol and Barnard together
with the more contemporary model of McGregor. The theories will be linked with my personal
working experience by which I will demonstrate their relevance and role in practice. The essay will
try to critically analyse and explain the differences between the three models and their applicability
in today s modern business environment. At the end, I will give my perspective of what management
might mean for contemporary business organisations.
In short, my working experience comes from the hospitality sector where I have been working
the most. The name of the company is ASA Recruitment which is a Scottish based company that
basically search and recruit stuff members for other businesses in plenty of sectors including
hospitality, engineering, accountability and others. I am a temporary worker on a zero hours
contract, and work within various hospitality events in Glasgow. The way it works is my
consultant Greg offers me shifts via a text message or a phone call for various locations, and
then I would be working with different managers or supervisors depending on the place. In the
essay, I would talk about Greg s approach as well as some of the managers/ supervisors on the
working place. My role varies, but it is mostly a waiter, a bartender, or a hospitality assistant who
just helps with the organisation of the event and sometimes leads a small team.

Mrs Bennet Analysis Essay
In Jane Austen s novel Pride and Prejudice, Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed as a selfish
woman who cares only about herself. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen uses contrasts between
themes, narrative devices, as well as characters to describe how Mrs. Bennet is a selfish woman
who only cares about herself. The novel demonstrates how Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed as
a selfish woman who cares only about herself by demonstrating her distorted view on marriage,
her selfish attitudes, as well as her inappropriate behaviours. Mrs. Bennet is generally portrayed to
be a selfish woman who cares only about herself through the contrast between the themes of

important themes explored in the novel is the concept of marrying well . Mrs. Bennet is portrayed

Mental Illnesses In The 1800s
During the 1800s, treating individuals with psychological issues was a problematic and disturbing
issue. Society didn t understand mental illness very well, so the mentally ill individuals were sent
to asylums primarily to get them off the streets. Patients in asylums were usually subjected to
conditions that today we would consider horrific and inhumane due to the lack of knowledge on

In Bly s time, mental illnesses were not taken seriously. Bly described the asylum she was admitted
to as overcrowded, cold, and dirty (ch. 7). It defeated the purpose of trying to give extra attention to
those in need. It was easy to get admitted into an institution, but nearly impossible to make it out

in following two aspects:
1) women s bargaining power within the household sphere
It is possible that waged work has a positive effect on women s intra household relations, mainly the
autonomy and the right to participate in family decision making.
However, intra household relations are full of the ideology of love. Because of the constraints of
patriarchal structure and gender asymmetry, these inequalities restrict women s autonomous
behavior, lead to a difficulty of judgment in the power of family and the impact of women s
wages.пј€

employment have led to a small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the bleak outlook for employment leaves women with no choice but to participate in
informal work as a single option rather than a first option . (McInnis Dittrich, 1995 ) However, it is
truth that the informal work meets the employment needs of different female workers.
Women have a tendency to prefer discretionary hours and choose part time employment. In 1997, a
UK labor force survey showed that 78.3 % of women chose part time employment mainly
because they did not like full time employment. There are two main considerations: First, the full
realization of the self and want free time to do what they are willing to do. The second is to strive
for both work and family. ( Li, 2001 )At this time, informal employment provides women with an
ability of choice, women have the right to choose by their own, which is a part of the
empowerment of women.
(2) A Way of Female Human Capital Accumulation
Informal employment not only plays a role in promoting the growth of female employment, but
also as a way to enhance human capital, providing an effective channel for women to migrate from
low level and informal labor market to high level and regular labor market.
First, as what I have discussed before, women, especially urban laid off women and migrant
workers are vulnerable groups in the labor market, in the sense that the informal labor market,
which is relatively low access standards and less employment costs, increase the employment space

Portia Symbolism Quotes
7. Symbolism: Using a person or object to represent an idea
Textual Evidence
Interpretation/Explanation
If you had known the virtue of the ring,
Or half her worthiness that gave the ring,
Or your own honor to contain the ring,
You would not then have parted with the ring.
What man is there so much unreasonable,
If you had pleased to have defended it
With any terms of zeal, wanted the modesty
To urge the thing held as a ceremony? (MV 5.1.199 206).
Throughout her monologue, Portia explains why Bassanio should not have given away her ring.
Refuting her own previous logic, Portia rebukes Bassanio for giving away her ring. One reason
why Portia is angry is because the ring was a symbol of Bassanio s love for her. Furthermore, one

Previously arranged by Antonio, Jessica and Lorenzo now will receive money when Shylock dies.
Adding on to all of the previous loose ends being tied up, this quote is an example of
denouement because the quote is the last instance of resolution in the play. Beforehand, all
previous relationships were restored and all of the characters lived happily ever after . For
example, Antonio and Bassanio were reunited safely, Portia and Bassanio (and Gratiano and
Nerissa) reconciled after the husbands broken vows, and finally Jessica and Lorenzo receive
financial aid as the new couple begins their future

Literature Review On Special Needs
Literature Review
My action research project was influenced by the national push towards inclusion of children with
special needs into the general education classroom. Because our school was trying to adopt a co
teaching program, this was the area I did most of my research on. I found a multitude of studies that
supported co teaching and analyzed the effects of co teaching on students, teachers and parents. I
then researched the affects of a non inclusive environment on all students. After witnessing how my
students self esteem had plummeted due to their specific grouping, I was not surprised to find
research that supported the theory that students who are identified as having special needs will
have lower self esteem and self worth. In a study done on students with special needs, all of them
reported thinking they would be unable to attend mainstream classes because they did not feel they
were successful learners based on their placement in special education (Griffiths, 2007). This
study also revealed the children with special needs held fears that all adults would think of them
as troublemakers because the classes they were in held a high majority of children with behavior
problems (Griffiths, 2007). This study concentrates on students who attend schools for special
needs. These students may feel more isolated than those who receive special services inside a
mainstream school, but those who are evaluated or receive special education within a mainstream
school show the

International Journal Of Communication ( 19328036 ) Essay
Becker, H. S. (2010). How to Find Out How to Do Qualitative Research. International Journal Of
Communication (19328036), 4545 553.
Background: In 2009 the National Science Foundation held a conference and issued a document
about qualitative methods what they are lacking. This article pointed out the shortcomings of that
report. The NSF went so far has to tell researches using qualitative methods to learn real science
defined as theoretically derived, testable hypotheses, with methods of data gathering in order to get
NSF grants. This would throw out case studies and surveys, which allow unique research insights
and are often the start of bigger ideas. Becker (2010) counters that good qualitative data is based
around interpreting data as you get it. When conducting research the researchers may not know
very much about their object of study and as they learn, it raises more questions, allowing
researcher to gather more data and better interpretations.
Commentary: This article focused on qualitative research, for both experimental and non
experimental data. Such as surveys, questionnaires, and case studies. This would be useful when
designing a qualitative study to know researchers may have to go back and re think their design
even in the data collection part of the study.

William Blake Literary Analysis
What is now proved was once only imagined.
(Ed. Mason, Michael. William Blake: Selected Poetry. Oxford World Classics, 2008.)
This paper started with a quote which mainly emphasize on the power of imagination. The line
which is quoted above, said by one of the early romantic poet, one who never went to university,
never took opium, did not end up his life in a very tender age, never left England, did not went on
any Grand tour in his life span, did not have any illicit or failed affairs or relationships, had no one
who would call him father and unfortunately never got the fame during his own lifetime. He is the
one, who shine out like a star whenever one talks about Mysticism and Imagination in English
Literature, William Blake. What he says about Imagination is
The Imagination is not a state: it is the human existence itself.
(Damon, Samuel Foster. Ed. Eaves Morris. A Blake Dictionary: The Ideas and Symbol Of William
Blake. UPNE, 1988.)
After reading his thoughts about imagination and the power of imagination one could able to
recognize that he believes in the imaginary world around him. He talks about angels and God like
figures which could be seen by him only, which proves him as true mystic.
After knowing the fact that he was a mystic, the next questions which struck the minds is what is
Mysticism? What is so fascinating in mysticism which makes him a mystic?
Here is the answer, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, Mysticism is a Belief that union
with or absorption into the deity or the absolute, or the spiritual apprehension of knowledge
inaccessible to the intellect, may be attained through contemplation and self surrender . It also
comes with another definition which says, Vague or ill defined religious or spiritual belief,
especially a belief in the occult . So, basically it is somehow related to the kind of religious beliefs
a person have. Actually, Blake was a non conformist. Non conformism refers in history to religious
groups that had alienated from the Church of England in the course of the seventeenth and
eighteenth centuries. Such people had groups like Baptists, Methodists, Puritans, Quakers and
Unitarians. Few researchers believe that his parents were Swedenborgians or readers

Heavy Influence On Mexican Culture
Something I learned
Being born into a small town in Texas where a heavy influence on Mexican culture applies to
almost everyone. It makes me realized that food really plays a major part in identifying myself as
a Mexican. Because the food, makes our culture unique. In addition, learning to make my very first
ever batch of tamales made me realized that it was a memorable experience.
It was early in the morning, and I had just woken up because I hear voices and objects being
moved around in my grandma s kitchen. I got up from the bed and made my way down the
hallway straight to the kitchen. Once I entered the kitchen I saw all of my aunts with my grandma
kneading the corn flour. I just stood there by the wooden door and watched as my aunts would
laugh and talk to each other while the kneaded the corn flour. It was a beautiful sight to see
because of the sunlight that was coming in from the window was hitting their faces and making it
look like they were glowing. I started to look around the medium size room and saw the big dining
table in the middle of the kitchen leaving little space to walk around properly.
I had walked into the kitchen, and all my aunts turned around and saw me standing there. My aunt
Diana told me in Spanish Come over and sit down and help us make tamales for Christmas dinner.
It s about time you start learning our Mexican traditions. So I went and washed my hand before
being able to sit down next to her and she told me to help knead the dough with

Subcultures In America
According to our textbook, subculture is a segment of society that shares a distinctive pattern of
customs, rules, and traditions. (Schaefer, pp 69) to make this concept more understandable
subculture is just a group that have different norms and value than the majority has. I think that is
not easy to make a list of subcultures in this country, or even in this city (Hot Springs) Subcultures
are sociological phenomena that tend to change over the time. Those changes can lead to create
new subcultures and/or make disappearing the old ones. Some subcultures can be created, and
some people has no choice and they born into a specific subculture.
Since I came to this country, I have been a full time worker, now, I am still full time worker but,

Examples Of Sympathy In Frankenstein s Monster
Tori Andrade
Toni J. Weeden
Honors Senior English
11/14/17
Sympathy or Hatred Towards Frankenstein s Monster? Victor Frankenstein had not only created a
monster but he had also created this being that is full of knowledge seeking and understanding.
Right from the beginning of the story, it is misunderstood by the monster s character. Frankenstein
judges his creations outer shell and in doing so he neglects his creation making the monster feel
vulnerable and naked to society. It is said that No one is born hating another person for their skin,
or his background, or his religion. (Nelson Mandela, October 1, 1999). This quote is important
because we must understand that the monster s hatred only comes from his experiences with the
lack of connections people want to make with him. His bitterness and anger are because he has ...

Diversity means is a range of different things and adversity means difficulties or misfortunes.
Although the two have different meanings I feel that they play a vital role in a person or a
monster s life. The world is full of diversity and in order to preserve, overcome, and meet our
goals, we have to be a challenge and depending on how we go about on being taken out of our
comfort zone determines whether you float or sink in life. The monster is a good example of
overcoming diversity. Instead of lashing out and destroyin everything around him he uses his
intelligence to help him survive. He finds himself a shelter, food, helps the cottagers with
chores, learns how to speak and read from observing the villagers and also is also learns to
become sneaky like framing Justine for the murder of Victor s younger brother and then later
framing Victor for the murder of his friend. Although it seems that everything and everyone is
against him, the monster finds ways to persevere and go on in life by the skills he acquires. All
the odds in the world against him and he turns out to be very

Health Belief Model Prostate Cancer
Introduction According to Anderson and Marshall Lucette (2016), prostate cancer is the second
leading cause of deaths in developed countires with the highest incidence in diagnoses for males
worldwide. (p1046) African American men have the highest incidence of prostate cancer, with a 1
in 5 probability of getting prostate cancerwith the lowest rate of participation in prostate cancer
screening. (Sandiford D Errico, 2015, p.86) The HealthBelief Model was constructed to help
understand behavior and reasons for noncompliance with medical care and actions. Nurses and

Educating males on the severity of prostate cancer in their culture and the importance in
screening for the condition can save many lives. It is our job, as healthcare professionals, to
provide this patient population with a means and strategy capable of reducing the prevalence of
prostate cancer. Many men are not aware but routine screening should start when one reaches
his 50 s or 40 s if he is from a high risk group or has a family history of the disease. (Sandiford, L.,
D Errico, E. 2016, p86) According to Anderson Mashall Lucette (2016), African American men are
disinclined to participate in screening programs due to fear that the digital rectal exam can lead to
homosexuality or changes in masculinity, a diagnosis may be discovered, lack of knowledge
surrounding the diagnosis and family history, socioeconomic status, changes in one s sex life, and
developing sexual or urinary dysfunction.

The Lord Supper was established to help us remember what Christ has done for our salvation. All who are going to partake of the Lord s supper should examine themselves first and deal with any problems and difficulties that they have in their hearts and life. The celebration must be set apart from the pagan festival, and each person must be conscious of what happening as they partake. The Lord supper is an unsophisticated ceremony, where believers can meet and partake of bread and wine, it is a sacred act of thanksgiving communion and remembrance. Furthermore, it is a sacrament that should be received repeatedly where continuing fellowship with God and his people can be obtained. As we participate in the Lord s supper then the past becomes the present and we are sharing in the once and for all sacrifice of Calvary but that is not all it is also predicting the future fulfilment of Christ returning. The significance of cognitive awareness in connection with receiving what the sacrament is conveying can be seen in the numerous ways that Christians have understood the rituals. Throughout history, between the different Christians denominations there has been much dispute over the different understandings of the Lord s supper. The two statements that have caused major problems are in Luke 22:17 22 where Christ declared to the Apostles Do this in Remembrance of Me , and in Mark 14:26 29 where Christ states that his body is the ... This movie had to be the scariest of the time and it traumatized many viewers due to its graphical images and also knowing that it was loosely based on actual events. This movie was inspired by the book based on true events from the exorcism of a demon on a 14 year old boy that lived in Mount Rainier, Maryland. The author read news concerning the boy and that medical attention did not relieve any symptoms such as violent episodes and outbursts of foul language. He claimed that the boy spoke a different language and was moving across the room on his bed while asleep. This type of behavior could have been mental illness, or the case of actual demons possessing the body of the child. Cases like these attract attention throughout the cities and some are real and others are just fabricated. During these rituals, the greatest danger to the exorcist is becoming possessed by the demon or Devil himself. This is why most priests need to be free of sin so the evils spirits cannot take advantage of this and use it as punishment against them otherwise the demon will easily take over. The animal cruelty video by the ASPCA featuring Sarah McLachlanis an example of a successful advertisement for these reasons: it s use of emotion, logic, and credibility. The first, and most prominent, reasoning behind the commercial is emotion, or pathos. An argument should include an emotional connection to the audience to make logic and credibility more humanizing. The two minute video primarily includes clips of previously abused animals, the staff caring for them, and singer Sarah McLachlan talking about how the viewers can help. Reason one that the argument is effective in the use of emotion would be the use of animals. The clips used include dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens whimpering or looking sad. These were meant to evoke an emotion to the individuals, and hopefully ignite the compassion needed to donate to ASPCA. It gained popularity from the sadden reactions of people, and for good reason. • 21. Industrialization Impact Industrialization Industrialization had many different impacts in American history. One of the impacts that industrialization had was increasing wealth in the U.S. Many business managers, and investors /entrepunuer took financial risks of starting factories and they earned many rewards. By factory s, the overall amount of goods and services started increasing, because of the fact that factory s can produce goods much faster than a human. However men were still needed to operate the machines, and there were job opportunities. This led to the increase of population in the United States. Many immigrants traveled to the u.s to escape the harsh life s they have been living, they thought these job opprutinitys were a way to start a new life, a new beginning, this is why industrialization also increased population in the U.S. American ingenuity and also was on the rise and people thought of many new inventions to make life easier. There was also an abundance of resources so they did not need to worry about resources for their inventions. There were many major inventions, however the Bessemer process was the first inexpensive industrial process to mass produce steel from iron. It inspired and sparked the industrial revolution, it was a big scale project. The Bessemer process worked by taking out impurities from pig iron using as an air blast. Unfortunately, most cases of AD are sporadic in nature and the underlying etiology is unknown. Thus far, the majority of the experiments have been based on transgenic mice models where amyloid aggregations are the causal initiator of AD. However, recent evidence has suggested that chronic inflammation may precede the induction of late onset AD neuropathology. To demonstrate the role of neuroinflamamtion in late onset development of AD, we injected a viral mimic polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (polyI:C) to C57BL/6J pregnant mice during gestational day 17 (GD17). A subset of the pups were exposed to a second injection at 12 months of age to observe whether a second immune challenge would increase the rate of AD development. The aged mice were subjected to a cued fear conditioning task to measure their cognitive capacity, and immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry to detect any neuropathological changes. • 25. Controversy Surrounding Research And Therapeutic Use Of... Controversy surrounding research and therapeutic use of stem cells has been a contentious and socially polarizing matter for a few decades. Arguments lie largely between the scientific community and the general public, although intragroup disagreements also persist today. These disparate views for and against stem cells arise out of the bioethical implications of an inchoate innovation, the general public s tenuous understanding of the underlying technology itself, and sociopolitical ideologies. Due to the somewhat aged debate, recent revelations and advancements have changed the principle arguments and should be addressed accordingly. In order to understand arguments against the use of stem celltechnology in the United States, it is crucial to understand the sociopolitical background of its constituents. America is well known for having a varied and diverse ethnic background composing of immigrants from around the world, but in 2012, 73% of Americans claimed Christian affiliation (3). This overwhelming majority of Christianity means that its accompanying religious beliefs emerge in many aspects of our sociopolitical ideology. Much of the opposition to stem cell technology is grounded in the Christian tenet of anti abortion, which is the source of embryonic stem cells. Although embryonic stem cells are still the gold standard in research and therapeutic use, use of non embryonic stem cells such as induced pluripotent stem cells is rapidly increasing and does not require ... The plant cells located within wood are made to absorb water, as it is necessary for the functionality of the tree ( Wood and Water , 2006). When wood first absorbs water, the water is transported and held within the cell walls. However, as these walls cannot hold a large amount of water, additional water fills the cavities of tubular cells within fibers of the wood. Wood is also categorized as a hygroscopic material. This allows for wood to naturally absorb and dissipate water within its contiguous environment. Their results also showed that, with a waterborne topcoat and no primer, the higher density wood sample absorbed more water (Sivertsen). However, this experiment was done using softwoods, and therefore the results may differ for hardwoods. This experiment was an observational study of the correlation of wood species and surface coatings to the water absorption of wood. I took data on the amount of water absorbed by red oak, red maple, aspen, and balsam poplar wood of the same volume, but with varying surface coatings. My control group was left untreated, leaving the wood in its natural state. The four samples of wood in the other two groups were painted with latex paint and oil based stain respectively. The twelve total samples were then placed into buckets filled with water. At the end of seven days, the amount of water absorbed by wood was determined by measuring the amount of water remaining in the buckets. My hypothesis was that the species of wood and surface coatings do influence the amount of water absorbed by the wood. I believed that the surface coatings applied to the wood would aid in preventing a greater amount of water absorbed than in the wood s natural state, and that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Analysis Of Frankenstein And The Island Of Dr. Moreau.... Throughout history we have had times of innovation and creation, we have tried to control nature and have succeeded in some aspects, however; humans are not truly sovereign over nature, and we have never achieved a perfect creation. In both Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, and The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G Wells, man s creation ends up destroying them which essentially symbolizes that man cannot truly act as a godbecause he will surely fail in a catastrophic manner, almost as if man is being punished for acting as a false god; it is also shown in both stories that the creations that man makes are attempts to manipulate and master nature, and we see that whenever man even slightly gives up his control it can lead to unforeseen, almost cataclysmic consequences. These ideas are most clearly displayed by H.G Wells in The Island of Dr.Moreau, because Moreau believes that he is above nature and can control the wild instincts of the beast men, and he also displays himself as a god to the beast men. In Frankensteinthese ideas are more implicitly shown. H.G Wells does a better job overall of displaying these ideas In The Island Of Dr. Moreau as it is more explicit when showcasing these ideas. One of the main ideas that is common to both of the novels is that when man takes the role of a creator or deity upon himself that he fails catastrophically, almost as if man is punished for this. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because the bleak outlook for employment leaves women with no choice but to participate in informal work as a single option rather than a first option . (McInnis Dittrich, 1995 ) However, it is truth that the informal work meets the employment needs of different female workers. Women have a tendency to prefer discretionary hours and choose part time employment. In 1997, a UK labor force survey showed that 78.3 % of women chose part time employment mainly because they did not like full time employment. There are two main considerations: First, the full realization of the self and want free time to do what they are willing to do. The second is to strive for both work and family. ( Li, 2001 )At this time, informal employment provides women with an ability of choice, women have the right to choose by their own, which is a part of the empowerment of women. (2) A Way of Female Human Capital Accumulation Informal employment not only plays a role in promoting the growth of female employment, but also as a way to enhance human capital, providing an effective channel for women to migrate from low level and informal labor market to high level and regular labor market. First, as what I have discussed before, women, especially urban laid off women and migrant workers are vulnerable groups in the labor market, in the sense that the informal labor market, which is relatively low access standards and less employment costs, increase the employment space for ... Symbolism: Using a person or object to represent an idea Textual Evidence Interpretation/Explanation If you had known the virtue of the ring, Or half her worthiness that gave the ring, Or your own honor to contain the ring, You would not then have parted with the ring. What man is there so much unreasonable, If you had pleased to have defended it With any terms of zeal, wanted the modesty To urge the thing held as a ceremony? (MV 5.1.199 206). Throughout her monologue, Portia explains why Bassanio should not have given away her ring. Refuting her own previous logic, Portia rebukes Bassanio for giving away her ring. • 45. Literature Review On Special Needs Literature Review My action research project was influenced by the national push towards inclusion of children with special needs into the general education classroom. Because our school was trying to adopt a co teaching program, this was the area I did most of my research on. I found a multitude of studies that supported co teaching and analyzed the effects of co teaching on students, teachers and parents. I then researched the affects of a non inclusive environment on all students. After witnessing how my students self esteem had plummeted due to their specific grouping, I was not surprised to find research that supported the theory that students who are identified as having special needs will have lower self esteem and self worth. In a study done on students with special needs, all of them reported thinking they would be unable to attend mainstream classes because they did not feel they were successful learners based on their placement in special education (Griffiths, 2007). This study also revealed the children with special needs held fears that all adults would think of them as troublemakers because the classes they were in held a high majority of children with behavior problems (Griffiths, 2007). This study concentrates on students who attend schools for special needs. These students may feel more isolated than those who receive special services inside a mainstream school, but those who are evaluated or receive special education within a mainstream school show the ... • 46. International Journal Of Communication ( 19328036 ) Essay Becker, H. S. (2010). How to Find Out How to Do Qualitative Research. International Journal Of Communication (19328036), 4545 553. Background: In 2009 the National Science Foundation held a conference and issued a document about qualitative methods what they are lacking. This article pointed out the shortcomings of that report. The NSF went so far has to tell researches using qualitative methods to learn real science defined as theoretically derived, testable hypotheses, with methods of data gathering in order to get NSF grants. This would throw out case studies and surveys, which allow unique research insights and are often the start of bigger ideas. Becker (2010) counters that good qualitative data is based around interpreting data as you get it. When conducting research the researchers may not know very much about their object of study and as they learn, it raises more questions, allowing researcher to gather more data and better interpretations. Commentary: This article focused on qualitative research, for both experimental and non experimental data. Such as surveys, questionnaires, and case studies. This would be useful when designing a qualitative study to know researchers may have to go back and re think their design even in the data collection part of the study. Davis, J., Sandifer Stech, D. • 47. William Blake Literary Analysis What is now proved was once only imagined. (Ed. Mason, Michael. William Blake: Selected Poetry. Oxford World Classics, 2008.) This paper started with a quote which mainly emphasize on the power of imagination. The line which is quoted above, said by one of the early romantic poet, one who never went to university, never took opium, did not end up his life in a very tender age, never left England, did not went on any Grand tour in his life span, did not have any illicit or failed affairs or relationships, had no one who would call him father and unfortunately never got the fame during his own lifetime. He is the one, who shine out like a star whenever one talks about Mysticism and Imagination in English Literature, William Blake. What he says about Imagination is The Imagination is not a state: it is the human existence itself. (Damon, Samuel Foster. Ed. Eaves Morris. A Blake Dictionary: The Ideas and Symbol Of William Blake. UPNE, 1988.) After reading his thoughts about imagination and the power of imagination one could able to recognize that he believes in the imaginary world around him. He talks about angels and God like figures which could be seen by him only, which proves him as true mystic. After knowing the fact that he was a mystic, the next questions which struck the minds is what is Mysticism? What is so fascinating in mysticism which makes him a mystic? Here is the answer, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, Mysticism is a Belief that union with or absorption into the deity or the absolute, or the spiritual apprehension of knowledge inaccessible to the intellect, may be attained through contemplation and self surrender . It also comes with another definition which says, Vague or ill defined religious or spiritual belief, especially a belief in the occult . So, basically it is somehow related to the kind of religious beliefs a person have. Actually, Blake was a non conformist. Non conformism refers in history to religious groups that had alienated from the Church of England in the course of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Such people had groups like Baptists, Methodists, Puritans, Quakers and Unitarians. Few researchers believe that his parents were Swedenborgians or readers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Heavy Influence On Mexican Culture Something I learned Being born into a small town in Texas where a heavy influence on Mexican culture applies to almost everyone. It makes me realized that food really plays a major part in identifying myself as a Mexican. Because the food, makes our culture unique. In addition, learning to make my very first ever batch of tamales made me realized that it was a memorable experience. It was early in the morning, and I had just woken up because I hear voices and objects being moved around in my grandma s kitchen. I got up from the bed and made my way down the hallway straight to the kitchen. Once I entered the kitchen I saw all of my aunts with my grandma kneading the corn flour. I just stood there by the wooden door and watched as my aunts would laugh and talk to each other while the kneaded the corn flour. It was a beautiful sight to see because of the sunlight that was coming in from the window was hitting their faces and making it look like they were glowing. I started to look around the medium size room and saw the big dining table in the middle of the kitchen leaving little space to walk around properly. I had walked into the kitchen, and all my aunts turned around and saw me standing there. My aunt Diana told me in Spanish Come over and sit down and help us make tamales for Christmas dinner. It s about time you start learning our Mexican traditions. So I went and washed my hand before being able to sit down next to her and she told me to help knead the dough with ... I think that is not easy to make a list of subcultures in this country, or even in this city (Hot Springs) Subcultures are sociological phenomena that tend to change over the time. Those changes can lead to create new subcultures and/or make disappearing the old ones. Some subcultures can be created, and some people has no choice and they born into a specific subculture. Victor Frankenstein had not only created a monster but he had also created this being that is full of knowledge seeking and understanding. Right from the beginning of the story, it is misunderstood by the monster s character. Frankenstein judges his creations outer shell and in doing so he neglects his creation making the monster feel vulnerable and naked to society. It is said that No one is born hating another person for their skin, or his background, or his religion. (Nelson Mandela, October 1, 1999). This quote is important because we must understand that the monster s hatred only comes from his experiences with the lack of connections people want to make with him.
