Japanese American Style Essay
As you look on the television and are constantly bombarded by issues of racial calamity in this day
and age, do you notice a specific unrepresented group? For me and several of my fellow peers, this
answer is clearly a yes. The topic that I m choosing to talk about in relation to this class is the Asian
Advantage or the less well known name, Model minority. From the very beginning of life, Asian
Americans are characterized and limited to a specific subset of life. Often times, this subset is often
seen as positive, therefore negating any consequence or fault that this myth may have.
The model minority myth was created in 1966 by sociologist William Petersen in an article, Success
Story: Japanese American Style , that was published in the New York Times Magazine. In this article,
it talks about the reasons why Japanese Americans have been successful in the United States even
after being condemned into internment camps. The timing of this article, however, was very
convenient in timing because it was released only a year after the Moynihan report, which stated that
the reasons that African Americans were faltering in their own socio economic status was because they
weren t doing what the model minority, Japanese Americans, were doing (Wang 2016).
If you look back in history, even the government is clearly guilty of influencing the public perception
on different groups of people. With the Immigration Act of 1965, it only allowed for skilled and
educated immigrants from Asia

Conflict Between Joseph And His Brothers
One of the inherent conflicts in the story of Joseph is the tension between Joseph and his brothers. The
tension between them is caused by both Jacob and Joseph. First, Jacob shows favoritism toward
Joseph, because he is the son of his favorite wife Rachel. Second, Joseph brings back bad reports
when he is out pasturing with his brothers. However, what truly increased the hatred and jealousy was
the Joseph s dreams. The author notes that when Joseph recounts the dreams, they hated him even
more (Gen. 37:8). Their jealousy for Joseph is strong enough that they are willing to murder him.
However, they decide to instead sell him into slavery, and convince Jacob that he was killed.
A greater conflict is later revealed later in the story. Joseph is brought before Pharaoh to interpret his
dream, and he reveals that after seven years of plenty, a severe famine will engulf the land so that the
seven years of plenty will be forgotten. In order to prepare for the famine, Pharaoh must appoint
someone to oversee the storing and rationing of the food in Egypt. Since Joseph interpreted the dream
that the magicians and wisemen of Egypt could not, Pharaoh made Joseph second in command over
all of Egypt. Through Joseph Egypt is well prepared for the famine.
These two main conflicts are interdependent in the Story of Joseph. Without the tension between
Joseph and his brothers, Joseph would have never been able to interpret Pharaoh s dream, and Egypt
(and Joseph s family) would have not

Nature s Fury Controversy
I visited the exhibit Nature s Fury: The Science of Natural Disasters, at the American Museum of
Natural History and was amazed by the entire adventure. When I entered the section titled Nature s
Furry I could feel my inner child stirring inside as I glanced over all the exhibits. The eight minute
presentation of how the earth has been affected by all of these natural disasters felt a little unnerving. I
loved how they divided the exhibit into four sections, which were Earthquakes, Volcanic eruptions,
Tornados and Hurricanes. I skillfully created my own volcano and watched it erupt. Stood in the
middle of a room so I could feel like the eye of a tornado and had a panoramic view. I happily
stomped to be recorded by a seismic wave

The Rise and Fall of the Mauryan Empire
The Mauryan Empire was the first major empire in the history of India and existed from around 324
BC to 185 BC. It was ruled by the Mauryan dynasty and was one of the was the largest and most
powerful political and military empires of ancient India. Chandragupta Maurya founded the Mauryan
Empire by overthrowing the Nanda dynasty. In some ways Chandragupta rise to power was inspired
by Alexander the Great. As a young man, he had seen the Macedonian army and believed that
anything a European could do an Indian could do better, he decided to raise and train an army in a

My Day Experience At A Music Festival Called Electric...
Thank you for always being a great friend of mine. We always hangout, do fun things, and make great,
unforgettable memories. You almost always come to concerts with me, show me new music, and
inspire me to love music even more. This is why I want to share you my three day experience at a
music festival called Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), which is the second biggest music festival in the
world. I wore my EDC bracelet, which is my admission ticket, grabbed my ID and some cash to buy
food, drinks, and merchandise, and left my friend s car with excitement. I was walking towards my
first EDC ever. My dream of going to EDC was about to come true. I was waiting in line for security
check and I couldn t stop thinking and imagining about what I would be experiencing soon. As soon as
I went through the security check, I walked into the racetrack, where this carnival was held. From top
the bleacher, I was able to see the entire carnival. On the left side, I was able to see the main stage
with a huge crowd of people. On the right side, I was able to see the merchandise tent, where they sold
food, drinks, and souvenirs, as well as the other three stages and few carnival rides, including rampage
and zipper. In front of me, I saw a stage, wider than a track field with five large led screens showing
colorful visuals, on a grass field, in which half of the people were dancing and half of the people were
sitting and relaxing. They called it Cosmetic Meadow. Due to having multiple

The Problem With Communication Is The Illusion That It Has...
Hey guys! :)
So I missed Monday Mantra but I thought to make up for that, I would go ahead and post a Tuesday
Truth which leads me into today s post Five Ways To Communicate Effectively .
Since starting my new job, I have taken on a lot of new things. I am learning everyday and I love that
but no matter how much we love to learn, or how much we think we already know, the one thing that
will continue to be a work in progress throughout our lives is communicating effectively.
As Mr. Shaw quotes, The problem with communication, is the illusion that it has been accomplished.
This is especially true in the workplace. For many of us, our job demands that we multi task so right
there, communication is weakened and it s easy to have misunderstandings that most of the time could
have been avoided if we had just done one tiny thing
Listen.
Some us will admit we re not the best listeners and others will claim to be great listeners when in
reality, they only listen with the purpose of responding and fail to absorb what is actually being said.
Guilty as charged.
As I mentioned earlier, big learning curve at work right now and in certain situations my primary
language, English, falls short because English is not a first language for everyone I work with so
training takes on a whole different meaning but in the best way possible. It has forced me to slow
down, to be more mindful of tone and expression and really focus on what is and isn t being said.

Media Analysis Essay
Essay: MEDIAANALYSIS IN MALAYSIA (NEWSPAPERS)
INTRODUCTION Newspapers are essential in everyone s daily life as it is the main source of news
since the olden days before the television was invented. Without the newspapers, where does the news
come from? Particularly in Malaysia, there are several languages used in the country. The main
languages used however are English, Bahasa and Mandarin. Each of these different languages have
specially dedicated newspapers to the particular language. For the Malaysian English Newspaper, one
of the best known newspapers is Malaysia is The Star. The Star was first published as a regional
newspaper in George Town, Penang in 1971. During that time, it is also the first kind of tabloid to be

However, during the year 1984, the Minister of Home Affairs came up with the Printing and
Publications Act to invalidate any publications licensees that reckoned as threatening to the state. By
the end of the year 1900s, Malaysia had fourteen newspapers, Singapore issued eight, Penang issued
three, the confederated states had two and Kelantan had one. As for the other broadsheets in Malaysia,
there are the Al Iman, Neracha (Islamic reform journals), Utusan Melaya and Lembaga Melaya (1906
1931). The Utusan Melaya and Lembaga Melaya were edited by a man named Mohd Eunos b.
Abdullah; also known as the father of Malay Journalism.
PROGRESS TO DATE As a medium of mass communication and also as an industry, the changing
relationship between newspapers and readers is part of this upheaval. This is because newspapers are
poised at the edge of a significant change in their operation and role. The first newspaper in Malaysia
was the Prince of Wales Island Gazette, published in Penang in 1805 and begun by the British. When
Malayan was under the hands of the British in 1968, the government developed restrictive policies
toward the press. The reason is that they feared the spread of communism in Malayan. Unfortunately,
the spread of communism in Malayan was unstoppable. In April 1930, the Malayan Communist Party
was founded in Singapore. Many urban Chinese were arrested because they

Kindness Reflection
Your book has significantly changed my view of the kindness in our society. Kindness is like love, it
blooms in some and lingers in others.
I grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota a small town with a deep passion and obsession for their German
heritage with a population of around 13,000. Although with this town, it has a lack of diversity. The
percentage of Caucasians is around 95%, which leaves the remaining 5% to non Caucasians; I am
Chinese and part of that 5% of non Caucasians. Being different here is a challenge, we have the
friendly people that treat us decently, but then we have the people that would give us a look of disgust
or an intrusive stare. Similar to the looks that you got when people were judging you and your yellow
motorcycle. Growing up with that experience made me think that a large amount of the world was
unkind and rude, but after reading your book, I realized that there was kindness all around the world
and it was very active in some.
It was astonishing to see very kind people help you on your journey from gas and food to a night to
stay. Some were homeless, but they still gave you the greatness of kindness. Although it may have
been hard trying to get people willing to be kind enough to give you those needs. I d say it was
challenging, like the challenge I deal with everyday. The task of getting people to not be rude to my
family is a struggle. A simple smile to us is appreciated as much as you getting gas from someone. We
try to be cordial and friendly to

Essay about A Solution to Foreclosure
A Solution to Foreclosure The current issue of home foreclosure is based off of a long series of bad
loans to people who were not able pay those debts off. Based on nightly news reports over the past
year, it appears that the majority of these foreclosures are on very modest homes. My solution to this
problem is to invest in those homes using green technology. President Obama has been a strong
proponent of weatherizing homes. Simple additions such as a rubber strip under the front door and a
sealant around windows can lower air conditioning and heating costs tremendously. These things are
cheap and easy to buy, and can reduce homeowner s electric bills. In the state of Florida in 2006, only
1,315 households were reported to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With government support, this could be changed. Using a government subsidy, many more people will
be able to afford to install solar panels. This subsidy would be directed towards middle and lower
income households who may be in danger of foreclosure. The energy generated by those solar panels
that are not used by house can be sent back to the power grid. Instead of the homeowner receiving the
benefits of that excess energy, the funds will go back to the government subsidy to pay for more solar
panels, and so on.
Solar panels and other green technology require someone to manufacture them. As a person invests in
green technology, they also invest in creating more jobs. One of the leading causes of foreclosure is
job loss. By investing in green technology, jobs can be created that require minimal training, which
people at risk of foreclosure can be easily trained to perform. In the 1930 s, President Franklin
Roosevelt created a large number of construction programs in order to boost the nation s economy. His
goal had two parts: to improve the quality of the country and to create jobs. While our national
unemployment has not reached the same level as it did during the Great Depression, it is hard to argue
the effectiveness of this strategy.
Based on a variation of the theory of supply and demand, if people take a

Sex Offender Management
I.Introduction
The proper management and treatment of adult and juvenile sex offender play a crucial role in the
protection of the general public. In order to properly manage and treat sex offenders the: who, what,
where, why and how of the sexual offender and the sexual offense committed. When issuing
management and treatment the nature of the crime comes into great thought of whether it was rape,
public exposure, sodomy, possession of child pornography, etc. All of these crimes all have different
punishments that follow which would also mean the management and treatment of the sex offender

As mentioned earlier as much as the offender wants to change that is not enough. Wanting to change is
usually not enough to be able to change the patterns that lead to sexual offenses. To create the
motivation to change, some offenders need a variety of treatment and corrective interventions, and for
others learning how to make the change in their own behavioral cycle of abuse is more effective,
(Office of the Attorney General State of California). Historically it was ok to marry a twelve year old
child and start reproducing around fourteen years of age. This was because life expectancy was not
that long and at around the age of fourteen individuals was considered to be adults and thus it was
acceptable. Thus there being no need for treatment because there was no sex offender cases. While in
today s society this is no longer acceptable while in some places the age of consent is as young as
sixteen years (The Age of Consent). With the history of sex offender management came treatment
which was castration which is the altogether removal of genitals, and imprisonment. While according
the Bureau of Justice Assistance there are three forms of treatment for sex offenders. There is the
cognitive behavioral approach, which focuses on changing the thinking patterns of an offender. The
psycho educational approach focuses on increasing the offender s

The Collapse Of The Ottoman Empire During World War One
Background Following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire during World War One, Britain and France
divided up the former Ottoman territories under the Sykes Picot Agreement in 1916, which established
French and British colonies, as well as asserted their respective spheres of influence in the region. The
borders drawn under this agreement, however, have caused crippling effects still felt today; the Syrian
territory was comprised of a Sunni majority, and Alawite (a Shi a sect), Druze and Kurdish minorities.
The present day Syrian Arab Republic emerged from this agreement, and formally gained
independence in 1945. The current Ba athist Regime came to power in 1963 following a coup d etat
led by an Alawite minority dominated military, overthrowing the Sunni majority, Western oriented,
capitalist Sunni majority. Prior to the coup, Alawites utilized the military as a means of social mobility
in an otherwise Sunni dominated state. Dissatisfaction with the effects of Sykes Picot, and the puppet
regimes of European imperialism that were in place, led to the Socialist Ba ath party s nationalist
platform. Once in power, the Ba ath party established state sponsored capitalism in an effort to take
control of the landed elite dominated agrarian portion of the economy. Interparty turmoil eventually
brought Hafez al Assad to power in 1970, who ruled until his death in 2000, when his son, Bashar al
Assad (the current president) took over.

Summary of the movie: A gathering of young men end up stranded on an island and begin getting to
be plainly savage. Reasonable Ralph turns into the assigned pioneer of a group of military children
who crash in the sea and wind up on a rich island. Initially, the gathering began as companions,
cooperating to survive, however soon they split into two camps, the other drove by Jack, who winds

men running chasing for pigs and plotting assaults on the adversary camp. The head of a pig is put on
a stake, and turns into The Lord of the Flies. There is tumult battling about essential items, for
example, the conch shell, to some degree an image of who s in control, and a pair of glasses, used to
start a fire. Jack and his rowdy young peers attempt to take these. In the meantime, the tranquil and
intelligent kid Simon, of Jack s gathering, sets out and finds a cave where a creature lives, the beast
being the plane s captain who survived and hung out there. Simon returns from the experience shaken
and filthy, at camp the young men assault him with lances, slaughtering him. Afterward, Piggy, from

Swatch and the Global Watch Industry
1. How did Timex succeed the Swiss as world volume leader in the 1950s and 1960s?
Timex toppled the world dominance of the Swiss by streamlining the watch making process therefore
also making the process very scaleable. The Swiss had dominated in an era where very little
competition existed. This paved the way for the Swiss and their high cost watch producers to remain
dominant as consumers really had no alternative to turn to.
Timex introduced watches using a combination of automation, precision tooling, and simpler design
then their Swiss rivals. The Timex movements also incorporated new hard alloy bearings rather than
expensive jewels used by the Swiss. All this lead to efficient and effective automation of Timex
production lines, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swatch slashed the number of individual parts that a watch required from 91 to 51 and began housing
them in an easily mass produced plastic case. With this formula, the Swiss made a breakthrough into
the global watch industry by producing high quality, inexpensive watch in Switzerland.
Marketing was also a key area which had to be looked at for Swatch to fully resuscitate the overall
Swiss watch industry. To do this for them, Swatch decided that to do it right, marketing should be
outsourced to specialists. Franz Sprecher, an independent consultant, helped to transition the image of
the Swiss watch from a very expensive, traditional timekeeping instrument to an inexpensive lifestyle
symbol and fashion accessory. Swatch followed this lead and also did a good job in producing very
trendy watches with very colorful designs. There was a Swatch created for every occasion. This new
approach in marketing and manufacturing sealed the deal for Swatch and was an instant hit propelling
the Swiss watch industry to the forefront of the watch manufacturing industry.
With the success of Swatch and their new alternative approach to marketing and design, media quickly
became very interested. Swatch realized that this was a perfect way to embrace free public publicity.

Women s Struggles
The Struggle for Women s Rights
Since the beginning of time, women have been seen as weaker, less intellectual, needy human beings.
Many religions believed that it was women s job to have kids, stay home with them and manage the
home, while; men went to work and brought home food for the family. Since the beginning of the first
wave of feminism in the 19th and early 20th century, women have been fighting for their rights to be
seen as equals to men. Women have fought to be women as a whole...instead of a part of a man. Even
though times have changed and women rights have evolved, women are still seen as vessels and as a
result, are still treated unfairly in society.

were very noticeable and severe. Earlier on in history, people like John Mill and his wife Harriet
Taylor Mill believed that women should have the right to vote and participate in the decision makings.
Sarah Grimke also thought women shouldn t be blamed alone for their involvement in the Adam and
Eve situation, and that they should be allowed to participate in their society. It was years after that,
that women like Alice Paul, Carrie Catt, Elizabeth Stanton, and Susan B Anthony, came along, and
fought for women s right to vote, and win. The question as to whether or not America is ready for a
female president is one that is still very much big, because the U.S president symbolizes and unities a
vast nation and must also serve as commander in chief of the armed forces, which puts special
pressure on women seeking that role. This only seen as a problem because just like Hillary Clinton
said, Gender is probably the most restricting force in American life, and patriarchal mindsets do not
want to allow for women to be in power since they do not look as tough even though this is not a
position of strength but of

Ernest Hemingway Is Well-Known For Uniquely Integrating
Ernest Hemingway is well known for uniquely integrating his own experiences into his works. With
each plot, he subtly weaves the elements into multiple layers of significance. His skillful use of
allegory adds meaning to each story, as it allows the reader to take a step back in time and get a
glimpse some of the controversies of the past. If the story were to lose its believability, the connection
to the reader would be severed. Many of Hemingway s stories allow the reader to easily grasp the
superficial concepts that Hemingway is trying to convey, while also leaving the reader to expand upon
it in detail through her own experiences, imagination, and research. The descriptive setting, plausible
characters, and deep allegory of moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a realistic and descriptive setting tying into the story, the reader can effortlessly place herself into
the story and find something that relates to her through the experiences of the characters. Ultimately, if
the setting were to be unclear or seem unrealistic, then this story loses its power over the reader.
Furthermore, the reader able to connect to the short story, through its genuine characters. The story
approaches its characters in a more multifaceted way. Each character symbolizes aspects below the
surface of what the reader initially sees. If the characters were to fall flat and lack development, the
reader would be limited by the scope in which she experiences the story. The characters allow the
reader to see from many different moral perspectives, as they each depict a life stage of man from
hopeful conception to hopeless death. This is done throughout the story, as each character symbolizes
a moral transition. The sailor and the girl are morally carefree, sneaking off to conjugate, illustrating
the excitement and hopefulness that the beginning of life brings. Secondly, the younger waiter
signifies the moral confidence that comes with youthful age and inexperience. Additionally, the older
waiter is becoming morally resentful, feeling the wane, and despair that grows with age and
loneliness. Finally, the old man signifies almost complete despair, as he has tried to commit suicide
the prior week, but rather than drink alone or at a

My Life Essay
I was born in Russian Far East, at a controversial Sakhalin island. The island belong to the chain of
islands of the east cost of Russia that is contested by Japan as their own. Around 1950, USSR was
colonizing second half of Sakhalin island, as a result, a lot of young people was sent over or came
over to build out the island s economy. My parents were among those settlers. With musical and
railroad engineering background, they end up serving in police force and military intelligence division
KGB. Their carrier defined my early childhood. Soviet military took our family across continental
USSR and stationed us in many parts of the country such as Ural mountains and finally in central
Russia City of Ivanovo. All of that taught me to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking back, I think this is where I seeded my carrier in Computer industry. During that time, I built
several basic computers on i8080 and Zilog Z80 microprocessors, learned assembler programming
and concepts of software development utilizing advanced languages such as BASIC. Even before I
finished school, I was spending all available time at University Data Center, growing and practicing
new skills. It was that time when, I put a group of fellow students together to learn and develop
software on PDP 11 computers. That group carried me through a whole period of my life in Russia.
As I was deeply submerged into Computers, Russia was evolving under Eltsin leadership. One of the
radical change brought was to open a door back again for Soviet Entrepreneurs. That change created a
slew of software development companies which begun changing Soviet Union from the inside out.
Few of my friends and I went on and open software development startup. By that time, I was attending
2nd year of University and was working as computer network administrator in the Power Station
Design Company.
Computer networks were becoming a necessity of any business and my sphere of interest. The more I
thought, the more I get puzzled on how to take computer networks to public. I found about the
existence of the modems, BBS and FIDOnet. FIDOnet was a hierarchical dial up network of
computers nodes. I

Essay on Discrimination Against the Gypsies
There are some 15 million Roms dispersed across the world. Their history is one of suffering and
misery, but it is also one of the victories of human spirit over the blows of fate. Today the Roms revive
their culture and are looking for their identity. On the other hand, they integrate into the societies in
which they live. If they are understood by their fellow citizens in their new homelands, their culture
will enrich the society s atmosphere with the color and charm of spontaneity (Ghandi). The word
Gypsy is used to describe a particular nomadic group of people who originated in Northern India. It
was when they began their nomadic ways, for reasons unknown, and traveled to Europe that the term
Gypsy was born because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are, however, five main points that all Roma have adopted. These are loyalty to family, a belief
in God and the acknowledgement of the devil, a listing of standards and norms followed by the tribe
members, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions from migrating (Patrin). They also all have a
high level of respect for the elderly among their tribe, and put strict regulations on their unmarried
women. Also, the different dialects of the Roma seem to have stemmed from one source, which is
considered to be Punjabi or Hindi. Whatever tradition the different groups of Roma may have, they all
hold on to these traditions and are still put into play today. For example, the Roma women are married
young, usually around twelve or thirteen, and the marriages are arranged according to the ties or in an
attempt to strengthen ties between two families (Wikipedia). Gypsy communities can be found all
over the world. Gypsies were even among the earliest settlers in the Americas because the European
government began rounding up entire Gypsy communities and deporting them to the Americas.
Gypsies were also deported earlier in history for the purpose of serving as slaves. The Gypsies were
dispersed all throughout the Americas leaving behind them an impact on the native s culture. For
example, many of Jamaica s folktales have a Gypsy theme to them. Another example would be how
some slang words in Latin America have Gypsy origins.

Essay on Hotspur vs. Harry in Henry IV
Hotspur vs. Harry in Henry IV
At the beginning of the play it seems that the chief rebel, Hotspur, is in
dispute with the King but as the play progresses we find that the main contest
is between Hotspur and Hal, the King s son. At first thought, Hotspur seems to
be the easy winner, for all Hal does is spend his time with his friends
gallivanting around, stealing and drinking.
Hotspur, on the other hand, has returned from a battle in which he defeated the
Scots led by Glendower. He has taken many prisoners including the Earl of
Douglas, a Scottish warlord. Hotspur is a very valiant warrior who has won a
great reputation for himself on the battlefield. He is young and impetuous as

In the first few scenes of the play we feel that Hal is exactly as Hotspur
describes him, a madcap Prince, but as the play progresses we see that Hal
intends to shine when he becomes King. He says that when the time comes he will
throw off his loose behaviour and present himself as the worthy successor to
King Henry.
On the other hand, Henry is of the opinion that Hal is behaving in a similar way
to King Richard, whilst Hotspur is winning the respect and admiration that may
well help him to gain the Crown. After talking to the King, Hal apologizes for
his conduct and promises to reform and live up to his position. The King tells
Hal how much he dislikes his behaviour and says that if he does not change his
attitude towards the throne and country then Hotspur may steal his position as
King. Hal should be in the forefront of state affairs, but spends his time with
unruly characters, more interested in women, alcohol and stealing than in
anything else. In Falstaff s opinion they are:
Diana s forester s, gentlemen of the
shade, minions of the moon (1.2.25 7).
This wayward behaviour is just a game that Hal is playing, biding his time,
waiting until eventually he can reveal his true self.
Hal is always very conscious that he knows what to do and when to do it. He says
to his father that he may seem unpromising and

Sociology Using Material from Item a Assess Sociological...
Sociology Topic 6
Using material from item A assess sociological explanations of gender inequality in todays society
In the last 30 years women in the UK working has risen to 2.45 million whereas men working has
risen by 0.5 million. Item A suggests a variety of gender inequalities in today s society for example the
pay difference women receive as it is suggested according to item A that women earn a quarter of a
million pounds less than men and this is without women not having any children if she did have
children it would be £140,000 less. The pay gap reduces family income overall which isn t beneficial
for families. Another issue is that women mainly work in low paid sectors like retail or caring and due

pay is low in occupations where there are many women. This could be because the jobs require less
training and promotion prospects for this job in which men are in the majority. Human capital assumes
that experiences of employment means the increase in wage whereas experience in part time work is
associated with less wages.
Some sociologists believe that a dual labour market exists and is divided into 2 sectors primary and
secondary. Primary is secure, well paid and with good prospectus whereas the secondary is poor pay
insecurity and no ladder of promotion. Barron and Norris concluded that women are likely to be in the
secondary this is due to women being unsuitable, disrupted career developments and weak legal and
political framework supporting women.
Liberal feminists argue that the traditional forms of gender role socialisation in families, education and
in the media are responsible for reproducing a sexual division in labour in which masculinity is seen
as dominant whereas femininity is seen as subordinate.Oakly argues that the reason for the
subordination of women in the labour market is the dominance of motherhood/housewife roles for
women. Patriarchal ideology stresses the view that women s only purpose is to raise children. Sharpe
believes that education and careers are main priorities of teen girls. Girls also perform better in
education which suggests that society will change at a later stage due to girls performing so well

Plumbing Renovations
2 Plumbing Renovations To Consider For Your Retirement Home
If you re renovating a home to use after you retire, you probably want to make it senior friendly so
you can stay in it well into your golden years. One room that will need special consideration is the
bathroom. You may have trouble stepping over the tub to take a bath or shower when you get older.
You could have a walk in tub and walk in shower installed to make the bathroom safer for the time
you may develop mobility issues. Here s why these are good choices for senior living.
A Walk In Shower Provides Room For A Wheelchair
Although you may not like to think about it, you or your spouse may be in a wheelchair in your
advanced age. Even if you re not, you may need to sit in the shower or have a helper in the shower to
make sure you re safe. A walk in shower usually has more room than a standard shower in a bathtub.
This makes it easier for someone to help you, and for you to take in a shower seat or wheelchair.
Install a shower without a rim around the shower pan and you ll be able to roll a wheelchair inside and
continue to shower by yourself. When the plumber installs the handles and ... Show more content on

When you get older, you may need to avoid a traditional bathtub due to the difficulty getting in and
out of it. However, if you re a person who loves long, hot baths over showers, you would really miss
not being able to bathe. The solution is a walk in tub that is easy to enter. These allow you to soak in
hot water in a seated position so you can stand up and exit the tub easier too. Plus, some tubs have
water jets for massaging and relaxing your muscles and easing joint pain. When you renovate your
bathroom, have your plumber remove your old tub and place the walk in tub in it s place. You won t
have to wait until you re elderly to enjoy it since it will be like having your own little hot tub to take
away the stress of the day after

The Life and Work of C.G. Jung Reconsidered Essay
The Life and Work of C.G. Jung Reconsidered In my original paper on Carl Gustav Jung, I took a
rather skeptical view of the doctor and his work, for several reasons that I will reiterate. However,
after studying further into his work, I realized that these objections only related to his early psychiatric
cases, and I found myself to be far more intrigued and impressed by his later work and theories. While
I had stated in my first consideration of Jung that, there is a frustratingly limited, almost biased quality
to much of... his work , I was pleasantly surprised later on to find that many of his later theories and
assumptions were anything but limited. I still believe that in his early case work he took tremendous
risks, both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also read Swedenborg (a noted Swedish philosopher and theologian best know for his later work in
which he presented ideas for a new spiritual era ) and studied spiritualism and the paranormal. Jung
eventually realized that what he really wanted to do was psychiatry, and he became an assistant at
Burgholzli Mental Hospital, a clinic attached to the University of Zurich. Accounts of his early
psychiatric cases, as related to his assistants at Bughholzli, provide an interesting overview of Jung as
an individual as well as his formative ideas in the field of psychotherapy and analysis. These early
cases and the conclusions he draws from them are, much like his predecessor and one time colleague,
Sigmund Freud, sometimes revolutionary and brilliant. Yet, as I had stated in my earlier paper on
Jung, I also found there to be a frustratingly limited and seemingly biased quality to much of this work
that, I felt, said as much about Jung the person as it did about the work itself. I also felt that this
frustration was compounded by the fact that Jung openly criticized and departed from what he felt was
non progressive methodologies and ideologies of Freud and other contemporaries. I was intrigued by
his objections to rubber stamped diagnoses, and the tendencies of doctors and teachers of the time to
disregard the unique individuality of their patient s cases. He was clearly

The House On Mango Street Analysis
Living in the 1960 s was a much different experience apart from living in today s world. People had to
face problems that seemed common to them but rather irrelevant to us. They faced problems like
discrimination, and sexism, which could be argued still prominent, but not as common as back then.
The characters from the book The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, and The Help by
Kathryn Stockett lived in this time and therefore faced these problems which setup the main plots and
themes in these two books. The characters and the books themselves are very similar, and deal with
the main theme of oppression.
Esperanza from The House on Mango Street is faced with many different obstacles during the course
of her childhood, motivating her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Esperanza said, She looked out the window her whole life, the way so many women sit their sadness
on an elbow [...] Esperanza. I have inherited her name, but I don t want to inherit her place by the
window. (11) Esperanza looks up to her mother and her many good qualities, but she wants no part in
having a spot by the window her whole life. Esperanza wants to be independent, with a job, and a
dream house of her own, but since she is a girl, she is doubted by society. This is a prime example of
sexism in the story and it shows how people treated women unfairly back then and gave them less
potential than which they would have today. This gives the women in Esperanzas society less hope of
becoming what they dreamed of being, and giving them less drive to achieve their goals.
Another character, Sally, from The House on Mango Street is also faced with similar situations like
Esperanza s. Sally is faced with sexism being set to strict, unrightful rules like not being able to talk
on the phone. Sally decided to get married and move in with her husband at a young age because she
liked that he provided for her. Sally made the mistake with moving in with him at a young age and is a
victim of sexism and it set to very strict rules that she is obliged to because of her knowledge that the
women are supposed to follow the mens orders and stay at home and take care of their family. An
example of sexism is when Esperanza says, Except he won t let her talk on the telephone. (102)

Gilbert Keith Chesterton Analysis
Mr. Gilbert Keith Chesterton was a fascinating man. He weighed nearly 290 pounds. He was so large
that P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud sound as a sound like G. K. Chesterton falling on a
sheet of tin. Chesterton once remarked to George Bernard Shaw, his friendly enemy in many a debate
and exchanged essay, To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England. Shaw
responded, To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it. Chesterton originally attended the
Slade School of Art to become an illustrator, but he dropped out before receiving a degree. He
certainly enjoyed drawing and did some excellent work in that area, but he soon turned his pen instead
to another purpose: writing. Chesterton met with great success as a writer. He published well over a
hundred works, including novels, articles, essays, short stories, and even published debates. Despite
these successes, however, critics attack him ferociously and regularly. He has been described as
annoying, tiresome, and simply a con artist looking for a laugh. His favorite rhetorical devices have
been ridiculed as flippancy and insincere showmanship. If so many people dislike his writing so
vehemently, it must be for good reason. But perhaps there is less a problem with Chesterton s writing,
and more a problem with the people reading it. Perhaps they do not like it because they do not
understand it or refuse to understand it. The nature of Chesterton himself and that of the arguments
against

A Comparison Of Two Creation Stories
After reading the assignments I m am left with many questions referring to the two depictions of the
creation of us and earth. There are many differences between the two creation stories. I will go into the
differences between the two stories. There are big differences between the two, like the order of the
things being created. Then I will go into my reaction of what I remember of the two creation stories
and what the distinct differences of the two. Like the order of creations being created. Then I will talk
about what I learned and any insight I was given after reading them again. Like before reading I
thought they both went along with each other. But after reading realizing they were separate accounts
of the start of the earth and humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I was younger, I thought that the seven day story was the first part of how the earth came to.
Then the Adam and Eve was the second part. Like in the first one they say the animals were created
but not how the animals got their names, but the second story does. Also realizing that my five year
old self forgot a lot about the two. Like I didn t know that Eve was created from Adams rib. If I had to
try to explain to someone how and when the Earth and everything else was created is not easy to do.
The How wouldn t be very difficult but the when still would give me some difficulties. I would use the
seven days to creation most likely to explain how everthing got here with bits of the Adam and Eve
story. But by just reading the two creation stories I would have great difficulty explaining when the
earth was created.
I have learned bunches of information reading the two creation stories. Like they were two separate
accounts of the creation of earth not just sections. The major differences of the two were more than I
remember from when I was a small boy. Also how difficult it would be to try to explain to someone
when the world got here, and the easier part of telling how it got here. This assignment was one I
enjoyed and learned a great deal on even though it wasn t along

  • 3. Japanese American Style Essay As you look on the television and are constantly bombarded by issues of racial calamity in this day and age, do you notice a specific unrepresented group? For me and several of my fellow peers, this answer is clearly a yes. The topic that I m choosing to talk about in relation to this class is the Asian Advantage or the less well known name, Model minority. From the very beginning of life, Asian Americans are characterized and limited to a specific subset of life. Often times, this subset is often seen as positive, therefore negating any consequence or fault that this myth may have. The model minority myth was created in 1966 by sociologist William Petersen in an article, Success Story: Japanese American Style , that was published in the New York Times Magazine. In this article, it talks about the reasons why Japanese Americans have been successful in the United States even after being condemned into internment camps. The timing of this article, however, was very convenient in timing because it was released only a year after the Moynihan report, which stated that the reasons that African Americans were faltering in their own socio economic status was because they weren t doing what the model minority, Japanese Americans, were doing (Wang 2016). If you look back in history, even the government is clearly guilty of influencing the public perception on different groups of people. With the Immigration Act of 1965, it only allowed for skilled and educated immigrants from Asia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Conflict Between Joseph And His Brothers One of the inherent conflicts in the story of Joseph is the tension between Joseph and his brothers. The tension between them is caused by both Jacob and Joseph. First, Jacob shows favoritism toward Joseph, because he is the son of his favorite wife Rachel. Second, Joseph brings back bad reports when he is out pasturing with his brothers. However, what truly increased the hatred and jealousy was the Joseph s dreams. The author notes that when Joseph recounts the dreams, they hated him even more (Gen. 37:8). Their jealousy for Joseph is strong enough that they are willing to murder him. However, they decide to instead sell him into slavery, and convince Jacob that he was killed. A greater conflict is later revealed later in the story. Joseph is brought before Pharaoh to interpret his dream, and he reveals that after seven years of plenty, a severe famine will engulf the land so that the seven years of plenty will be forgotten. In order to prepare for the famine, Pharaoh must appoint someone to oversee the storing and rationing of the food in Egypt. Since Joseph interpreted the dream that the magicians and wisemen of Egypt could not, Pharaoh made Joseph second in command over all of Egypt. Through Joseph Egypt is well prepared for the famine. These two main conflicts are interdependent in the Story of Joseph. Without the tension between Joseph and his brothers, Joseph would have never been able to interpret Pharaoh s dream, and Egypt (and Joseph s family) would have not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I entered the section titled Nature s Furry I could feel my inner child stirring inside as I glanced over all the exhibits. The eight minute presentation of how the earth has been affected by all of these natural disasters felt a little unnerving. I loved how they divided the exhibit into four sections, which were Earthquakes, Volcanic eruptions, Tornados and Hurricanes. I skillfully created my own volcano and watched it erupt. You almost always come to concerts with me, show me new music, and inspire me to love music even more. This is why I want to share you my three day experience at a music festival called Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), which is the second biggest music festival in the world. I wore my EDC bracelet, which is my admission ticket, grabbed my ID and some cash to buy food, drinks, and merchandise, and left my friend s car with excitement. I was walking towards my first EDC ever. My dream of going to EDC was about to come true. I was waiting in line for security check and I couldn t stop thinking and imagining about what I would be experiencing soon. As soon as I went through the security check, I walked into the racetrack, where this carnival was held. From top the bleacher, I was able to see the entire carnival. On the left side, I was able to see the main stage with a huge crowd of people. On the right side, I was able to see the merchandise tent, where they sold food, drinks, and souvenirs, as well as the other three stages and few carnival rides, including rampage and zipper. In front of me, I saw a stage, wider than a track field with five large led screens showing colorful visuals, on a grass field, in which half of the people were dancing and half of the people were sitting and relaxing. • 10. The Problem With Communication Is The Illusion That It Has... Hey guys! :) So I missed Monday Mantra but I thought to make up for that, I would go ahead and post a Tuesday Truth which leads me into today s post Five Ways To Communicate Effectively . Since starting my new job, I have taken on a lot of new things. I am learning everyday and I love that but no matter how much we love to learn, or how much we think we already know, the one thing that will continue to be a work in progress throughout our lives is communicating effectively. As Mr. Shaw quotes, The problem with communication, is the illusion that it has been accomplished. This is especially true in the workplace. For many of us, our job demands that we multi task so right there, communication is weakened and it s easy to have misunderstandings that most of the time could have been avoided if we had just done one tiny thing Listen. Some us will admit we re not the best listeners and others will claim to be great listeners when in reality, they only listen with the purpose of responding and fail to absorb what is actually being said. Guilty as charged. As I mentioned earlier, big learning curve at work right now and in certain situations my primary language, English, falls short because English is not a first language for everyone I work with so training takes on a whole different meaning but in the best way possible. It has forced me to slow down, to be more mindful of tone and expression and really focus on what is and isn t being said. At first, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As for the other broadsheets in Malaysia, there are the Al Iman, Neracha (Islamic reform journals), Utusan Melaya and Lembaga Melaya (1906 1931). The Utusan Melaya and Lembaga Melaya were edited by a man named Mohd Eunos b. Abdullah; also known as the father of Malay Journalism. PROGRESS TO DATE As a medium of mass communication and also as an industry, the changing relationship between newspapers and readers is part of this upheaval. This is because newspapers are poised at the edge of a significant change in their operation and role. The first newspaper in Malaysia was the Prince of Wales Island Gazette, published in Penang in 1805 and begun by the British. When Malayan was under the hands of the British in 1968, the government developed restrictive policies toward the press. The reason is that they feared the spread of communism in Malayan. • 12. Kindness Reflection Your book has significantly changed my view of the kindness in our society. Kindness is like love, it blooms in some and lingers in others. I grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota a small town with a deep passion and obsession for their German heritage with a population of around 13,000. Although with this town, it has a lack of diversity. The percentage of Caucasians is around 95%, which leaves the remaining 5% to non Caucasians; I am Chinese and part of that 5% of non Caucasians. Being different here is a challenge, we have the friendly people that treat us decently, but then we have the people that would give us a look of disgust or an intrusive stare. Similar to the looks that you got when people were judging you and your yellow motorcycle. Growing up with that experience made me think that a large amount of the world was unkind and rude, but after reading your book, I realized that there was kindness all around the world and it was very active in some. It was astonishing to see very kind people help you on your journey from gas and food to a night to stay. Some were homeless, but they still gave you the greatness of kindness. Although it may have been hard trying to get people willing to be kind enough to give you those needs. I d say it was challenging, like the challenge I deal with everyday. The task of getting people to not be rude to my family is a struggle. A simple smile to us is appreciated as much as you getting gas from someone. We try to be cordial and friendly to ... • 13. Essay about A Solution to Foreclosure A Solution to Foreclosure The current issue of home foreclosure is based off of a long series of bad loans to people who were not able pay those debts off. Based on nightly news reports over the past year, it appears that the majority of these foreclosures are on very modest homes. My solution to this problem is to invest in those homes using green technology. President Obama has been a strong proponent of weatherizing homes. Simple additions such as a rubber strip under the front door and a sealant around windows can lower air conditioning and heating costs tremendously. These things are cheap and easy to buy, and can reduce homeowner s electric bills. In the state of Florida in 2006, only 1,315 households were reported to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With government support, this could be changed. Using a government subsidy, many more people will be able to afford to install solar panels. This subsidy would be directed towards middle and lower income households who may be in danger of foreclosure. The energy generated by those solar panels that are not used by house can be sent back to the power grid. Instead of the homeowner receiving the benefits of that excess energy, the funds will go back to the government subsidy to pay for more solar panels, and so on. Solar panels and other green technology require someone to manufacture them. As a person invests in green technology, they also invest in creating more jobs. One of the leading causes of foreclosure is job loss. By investing in green technology, jobs can be created that require minimal training, which people at risk of foreclosure can be easily trained to perform. In the 1930 s, President Franklin Roosevelt created a large number of construction programs in order to boost the nation s economy. His goal had two parts: to improve the quality of the country and to create jobs. While our national unemployment has not reached the same level as it did during the Great Depression, it is hard to argue the effectiveness of this strategy. As mentioned earlier as much as the offender wants to change that is not enough. Wanting to change is usually not enough to be able to change the patterns that lead to sexual offenses. To create the motivation to change, some offenders need a variety of treatment and corrective interventions, and for others learning how to make the change in their own behavioral cycle of abuse is more effective, (Office of the Attorney General State of California). Historically it was ok to marry a twelve year old child and start reproducing around fourteen years of age. This was because life expectancy was not that long and at around the age of fourteen individuals was considered to be adults and thus it was acceptable. • 15. The Collapse Of The Ottoman Empire During World War One Background Following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire during World War One, Britain and France divided up the former Ottoman territories under the Sykes Picot Agreement in 1916, which established French and British colonies, as well as asserted their respective spheres of influence in the region. The borders drawn under this agreement, however, have caused crippling effects still felt today; the Syrian territory was comprised of a Sunni majority, and Alawite (a Shi a sect), Druze and Kurdish minorities. The present day Syrian Arab Republic emerged from this agreement, and formally gained independence in 1945. The current Ba athist Regime came to power in 1963 following a coup d etat led by an Alawite minority dominated military, overthrowing the Sunni majority, Western oriented, capitalist Sunni majority. Prior to the coup, Alawites utilized the military as a means of social mobility in an otherwise Sunni dominated state. Dissatisfaction with the effects of Sykes Picot, and the puppet regimes of European imperialism that were in place, led to the Socialist Ba ath party s nationalist platform. Once in power, the Ba ath party established state sponsored capitalism in an effort to take control of the landed elite dominated agrarian portion of the economy. This paved the way for the Swiss and their high cost watch producers to remain dominant as consumers really had no alternative to turn to. Timex introduced watches using a combination of automation, precision tooling, and simpler design then their Swiss rivals. The Timex movements also incorporated new hard alloy bearings rather than expensive jewels used by the Swiss. All this lead to efficient and effective automation of Timex production lines, ... Marketing was also a key area which had to be looked at for Swatch to fully resuscitate the overall Swiss watch industry. To do this for them, Swatch decided that to do it right, marketing should be outsourced to specialists. Franz Sprecher, an independent consultant, helped to transition the image of the Swiss watch from a very expensive, traditional timekeeping instrument to an inexpensive lifestyle symbol and fashion accessory. Swatch followed this lead and also did a good job in producing very trendy watches with very colorful designs. There was a Swatch created for every occasion. This new approach in marketing and manufacturing sealed the deal for Swatch and was an instant hit propelling the Swiss watch industry to the forefront of the watch manufacturing industry. Some sociologists believe that a dual labour market exists and is divided into 2 sectors primary and secondary. Primary is secure, well paid and with good prospectus whereas the secondary is poor pay insecurity and no ladder of promotion. Barron and Norris concluded that women are likely to be in the secondary this is due to women being unsuitable, disrupted career developments and weak legal and political framework supporting women. Liberal feminists argue that the traditional forms of gender role socialisation in families, education and in the media are responsible for reproducing a sexual division in labour in which masculinity is seen as dominant whereas femininity is seen as subordinate.Oakly argues that the reason for the subordination of women in the labour market is the dominance of motherhood/housewife roles for women. Accounts of his early psychiatric cases, as related to his assistants at Bughholzli, provide an interesting overview of Jung as an individual as well as his formative ideas in the field of psychotherapy and analysis. These early cases and the conclusions he draws from them are, much like his predecessor and one time colleague, Sigmund Freud, sometimes revolutionary and brilliant. Yet, as I had stated in my earlier paper on Jung, I also found there to be a frustratingly limited and seemingly biased quality to much of this work that, I felt, said as much about Jung the person as it did about the work itself. I also felt that this frustration was compounded by the fact that Jung openly criticized and departed from what he felt was non progressive methodologies and ideologies of Freud and other contemporaries. Esperanza wants to be independent, with a job, and a dream house of her own, but since she is a girl, she is doubted by society. This is a prime example of sexism in the story and it shows how people treated women unfairly back then and gave them less potential than which they would have today. This gives the women in Esperanzas society less hope of becoming what they dreamed of being, and giving them less drive to achieve their goals. Another character, Sally, from The House on Mango Street is also faced with similar situations like Esperanza s. Sally decided to get married and move in with her husband at a young age because she liked that he provided for her. Sally made the mistake with moving in with him at a young age and is a victim of sexism and it set to very strict rules that she is obliged to because of her knowledge that the women are supposed to follow the mens orders and stay at home and take care of their family. Chesterton once remarked to George Bernard Shaw, his friendly enemy in many a debate and exchanged essay, To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England. Shaw responded, To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it. Chesterton originally attended the Slade School of Art to become an illustrator, but he dropped out before receiving a degree.
