Counseling Psychology
Counseling psychology is one of the many subfields of psychology, but it is the most thought of
when one thinks of a psychologist. This special field helps clients to explore the positive side of
themselves and their lives and understand the negatives. Counseling psychologists focus their work
on the overall wellbeing of their clients. This subfield also has many benefits to society. Counseling
Psychologyhelps people to improve their life, and while they do not solely focus on mental
disorders, they can focus on physical, emotional, and mental needs. An average individual who is
experiencing troubles in his life may seek out guidance from a counselor.
While counseling psychologists focus work on the general mental health on an individual,
environmental psychologists solely focus on how the way people act and react and how that affects
the plants and environment. Environmental psychologists study responses to different

History Of Geographic Information Systems ( Gis )
The History of Geographic Information Systems Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are a
way that information can embedded into and retrieved from maps, today this is done using
computers, because of the complexity of the information that can be used, but was once done
manually. GIS has become common place in the modern world that we live in, they are useful
for simple things such basic maps to much more complex tasks including research and statistics,
city planning, as well as many more. One of the first uses of a GIS was in the fight against
cholera, first Charles Picquet produced a map of 48 districts in Paris that displayed the number
of deaths from cholera per 1000 inhabitants using a colour gradient (Bagais, 2012). Then in 1854
John Snow, an English doctor, created a GIS map of a cholera outbreak in Soho, London. His
map used points to show where each case of cholera had occurred, through the use of this
technique he was able to determine that the cause of the cholera outbreak was a water pump
located on Broad Street, of which he removed the handle and ended the epidemic (Johnson,
2006). The development of GIS was very slow in these early years, and it was not until the early
20th century that any real advancement in GIS was seen, this was because of the increasing
development of photozincography (Cook, 2002). Photozincography allowed the development of
layers, these are a key component of any GIS, and each layer was drawn by hand onto individual
glass plates.

Essay on King Henry VIII
King Henry VIII Born the second son of a royal family, Henry Tudor lived a very interesting life.
His future was intended to be the head of the Roman Catholic Church and that fate ended with
the death of his brother, Prince Arthur. Henry s majestic life was full of sports, women, and
faith. The young King acceded his father to the throne, married six women, and began the
English Reformation when he broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and created his own
religion. On the 28th day of June 1491 at Greenwich Palace, Elizabeth of York gave birth to her
third child Henry Tudor. Henry was named after his father Henry VII and he was the couple s
second son, which meant that there was no chance for him to reign as King since he had an... Show

A papal dispensation, or permission from the pope, needed to be issued in order for Prince
Henry to marry his brother s widow. According to the book of Leviticus, the marriage was
prohibited and if a brother is to marry the wife of a brother they will remain childless . After the
death of her husband, Catherine denied that her marriage had been consummated and that no
dispensation was required. Both England and Spain agreed that a papal dispensation was
needed to assure that the marriage was justifiable. However, even after the papal dispensation
was granted, Prince Henry and his brother s widow did not wed because King Henry VII failed
to keep his end of the bargain ( Henry VIII King of England 2). In 1509, Henry VII died and
Henry, heir apparent, became King of England at eighteen years old. After the death of Henry VII
and the accession of the throne by his son, Henry became Henry VIII and his first assignment was
to execute his father s ministers. It wasn t until a few months after the death of his father that
Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon ( Henry VIII King of England 2). In the early years of
Henry VIII s reign, he was tall and handsome. Henry VIII was very talented in many things,
including playing various musical instruments, being athletic, being a good linguist, dancing,
hunting, and a musical composer among many other attributes (Fry 95). When Henry VIII first

Analysis Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Essay
In Shelley s Frankenstein, the reader feels great sympathy for the female characters in the novel.
The characters Caroline Beaufort, Elizabeth Lavenza and Justine are characterized as good hearted
and upright woman, but nevertheless face an injustice death. In Frankenstein, women in the text are
being destructed through an inevitable miserable fate to get the idea of the passive woman that
devotes herself to the benefactor and her lack of agency across, in which is demonstrated in the
passivity of Caroline, Elizabeth and Justine s role that leads to their misery.
The first victim in Shelley s novel, Caroline, faces extreme destitution in the beginning of her life in
which her situation is mediated by a benefactor, Alphonse Frankenstein; the passivity of Caroline s
role is characterized by the absence of agency in the choices that she makes and a death that is
unjust but unavoidable that she has no power of rewinding. At the beginning of the novel, we
come to know Caroline as destituted and orphaned when Alphonse Frankenstein finds Caroline
mourning over the death of her father Beaufort. However, Caroline s hardship terminates when
she is rescued by Alphonse when Alphonse came like a protecting spirit to the poor girl, who
committed herself to his care (Shelley, p.19) and in which after two years after this event, Caroline
became his wife (Shelley, p.19). Caroline s dependence and eventual marriage to Alphonse is
significant in that it perfectly illustrates her

Dimmesdale Lacks Courage in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Scarlet...
The Scarlet Letter Dimmesdale is Good, but Lacks Courage There is a fine line between
hypocrisy and cowardice. Arthur Dimmesdale, a principal character in Hawthorne s The Scarlet
Letter provides a perfect example of how thin that line can be. The Scarlet Letter relates a story
about sin and the many consequences of not having strength of character. The true nature of
Reverend Dimmesdale s character has been debated since the first publication of the novel.
Dimmesdale is considered by many to be a hypocrite because he cared more about protecting his
reputation than he did about protecting the woman he loved. Others view the Reverend in a more
sympathetic light and see him as not a hypocrite, but as a good man... Show more content on

This is proved by looking at the torment the Reverend faced internally and externally, his
intentions, and his love and concern for the welfare of Hester and his illegitimate daughter,
Pearl. The agony that Reverend Dimmesdale was feeling throughout the novel had many origins.
For example, his conscience had a great negative effect on him. By keeping his sin a secret, he
internalized the pain that is inevitably a consequence of sinning. The anguished Dimmesdale
struggles to pacify his conscience as it consumes his very being. With every successive Sabbath,
his cheeks grew paler and thinner, and his voice more tremulous than before. This shows that
while Hester s pain was a mental anguish, the Reverend had to deal with both mental as well as
physical pain. Each time Dimmesdale stood in front of his congregation, he felt weaker and
more ashamed. Dimmesdale s pain could be seen not only in his demeanor but also by the
clutching of his chest. Throughout the novel, the Reverend could be seen placing his hand over
his heart, as if the pain of seeing Pearl, or talking to Hester, or merely realizing what he has done,
was too much for him to bear. Pearl often times is quoted noticing the Reverend s strange habit A
strange, sad man is he (Dimmesdale), with his hand always over his heart! An analogy can be
made that the Reverend covers his heart from eyes that can see

What I Was A Salesman
No sooner then did I arrive home from class, I received a call from what I assumed was a
salesman. It was in fact, a salesman, but was for instead something I had already bought. The call
regarded a custom shirt I had ordered online. A T shirt with a blocky cartoon drawing of Otto von
Bismarck on it. The operator on the phone told me that the company could not print me the shirt
because the image was copyrightof some artist who sold the design on another website. I tried
explaining that I had taken reference from probably the same image but I had changed it to be
another art style. This however was not good enough for them, and thus had canceled my order.
After spending what felt like an hour scouring Google I finally found the shirt that I was
apparently infringing upon . It was located on an obviously outdated website and at first
displayed no price. After adding it to the cart to see if I could find a checkout price, I was
directed to a page saying the shirts are no longer available as of 2008. If I could not buy one
legally , or by the rules what am I to do? As a consumer of the twenty first century capitalist free
market society, there will always be a way to secure merchandise one way or another through
relatively easy, and legal means. Then, the bigger picture hit me. Why is it that the face of a
person of historical significance is copyrighted by someone who makes t shirts and then refuses to
sell them? .
To me this makes no sense, if he s not willing to

Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Education
Human Papillomavirus is a broad term used to describe over one hundred and fifty related
viruses. The Human Papillomavirus, better known as HPV is named for the warts (papillomas)
that become present on the skin of an HPV victim. HPV is transmitted via intamainte skin to skin
contact. Each year a small number of cases of HPV go unknown because no symptoms are
present or the body fights away the virus. Other cases that do not go away commonly are
expressed in genital warts and cancers. Some cancers commonly developed from HPV are cervical,
vaginal, anus, back of the throat, tonsil and tongue cancers (What). In recent years researchers, ...

A study of college age women showed that approximately 70% of women with HPV infections
became HPV negative within 1 year and as many as 91% of them became HPV negative within 2
years, with a median duration of infection of 8 months. Certain HPV types, such as HPV 16, are
associated with increased rates of persistence; however, in the previously mentioned study, the 24
month clearance of HPV 16 was 72%. Thus, the majority of these infections clear. Other factors
associated with persistent HPV infection include age higher than 30, parity, infection with multiple
HPV subtypes, immunosuppression, smoking, and oral contraceptive use.
Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia caused by HPV can clear without treatment, but the rate of
clearance varies according to the severity of the lesion; high grade lesions have a greater rate of
progression to cervical cancer (Blackman). Sixty percent of CIN 1 lesions are likely to regress
spontaneously, 10% are likely to progress to CIN 3, and only 1% is likely to progress to invasive
cancer. For CIN 3, these numbers are quite different: approximately one third of these lesions are
likely to regress, and the rate of progression to cervical cancer is greater than 12% if left

The Effects Of Malnutrition On Educational Disparities
The Impact of Malnutrition on Educational Disparities in Africa
By: Merette Khalil and Blessing Kuebee, African Students Association At the start of the
millennium, various United Nations (UN) partners came together to tackle some of the world s
deadliest and most pressing social and economic problems, and in doing so, established the
Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In the past 15 years, the MDGs have been evaluated
and re evaluated. This year the UN has declared a new set of 17 goals for the next 15 years called
the Sustainable Development Goals. The first issue on both agendas is the eradication of extreme
poverty and hunger, a problem that is specifically significant for the entire continent of Africa.
Clarifying a few terms based on the World Food Program s definition is essential to understanding
the scope of the problem.
Hunger is not having enough to eat to meet energy requirements. It can lead to malnutrition, which
is a condition when one s diet does not provide adequate nutrients for growth and maintenance or
when a person is not able to adequately utilize the food consumed due to illness. Undernutrition,
being nutrient deficient, being underweight and even being overweight are all complications that
result from hunger.
Undernourishment is when a person is not able to acquire enough food to meet the daily minimum
dietary energy requirements, over a period of one year.
Wasting is rapid weight loss or a failure to gain weight and is strongly related

Evaluating Friedman s Instrumentalism
Introduction
Since the 2008 financial crisis, economists have been blamed for their incapability to predict the
collapse of the financial system with economic models. It has been widely debated about the role
of economic models, in particular their underlying assumptions and their ability to predict the
upcoming events. Colander et al pointed out that unrealistic assumptions plays a main role in the
failure of economic models (Colander et al 2009: 7 10). Opponents would invariably point their
fingers towards Friedman s Methodology of Positive Economics ; where he proposed that the
validity of assumptions is totally irrelevant when evaluating economic models, only the usefulness
of prediction matters.
Nonetheless, when evaluating economic models, we should take into account the description,
explanation and understanding of the world. In this essay, by using the Ricardian model as an
example, I will illustrate that even if one only cares about the prediction, we should also address
the importance of assumptions, which would then lead us to explore the true purpose of science.
The Ricardian Model
The Ricardian trade model is a simple yet powerful theory that refutes common fallacies about the
causations of trade flows. It illustrates that, instead of absolute advantage, it is comparative
advantage that brings forth the gains from trade. Comparative advantage refers to the ability to
produce a product at a lower opportunity cost than another. This ability is the result of

The Lost People Of Civilization Summary
The Lost Peoples of Civilization The topic of the American West has captivated and mystified
people for decades. Tightly interwoven into the American identity and dream, Westward
expansion is often seen with a positive and nearly nostalgic lens. Although we still dream to
incorporate the spirit and values learned from expansion, the civilization the Great West did not
serve each individual equally. While the civilization provides structure necessary for settlement
and community, it also isolates and separates certain peoples. In the West, civilization was
accompanied by ripples that adversely affected both American and Native peoples. Released by
the highly praised John Ford in 1939, Stagecoach represents the people s dominant perception of
the American West. The movie revolves around a diverse group of characters that have boarded
the Overland stagecoach bound for Lordsburg, New Mexico. But along the way, the group must
avoid reservation escapee Geronimo and his band of rogue Native Americans. As with the
Turnerian model, there are two forces constantly in competition with each other: civilization (i.e.
the stagecoach and associates) and savagery (i.e. the Native Americans). While the stagecoach
passengers speak in full sentences and have active conversations, the Geronimo gang is never heard
beyond a few primal grunts. Although the men of the stagecoach possess guns, many of the Native
Americans are still using primitive weapons such as clubs, spears, and bows and

which a licensed pharmacist, a licensed physician, or, in the case of an outsourcing facility, a

not FDA approved. This means that FDA does not verify the safety, or effectiveness of

Biological Determinism And Social And Economic Differences...
Question 1. Biological determinism as stated by Gould, states that shared behavioral norms, and
the social and economic differences between human groups primarily races, classes, and sexes
arise from inherited, inborn distinctions and that society, in this sense, is an accurate reflection
of biology (Gould, p.52). He explains this idea further through his explanation of how biological
determinism can be measured or assigned based on the craniometry, which is the size of the
skull, for at the time it was believed that the larger the skull, the more intelligent that individual
was. This explanation became one of the earliest works connected to scientific racism. Gould,
believed that during this time many scientists used their own prejudices, and bias s when
concluding their research, such as the work of French anthropologist, Paul Broca, who stated that
the small brains of women concluded that men were to be regarded as more intelligent, as well
as, above women, however, although women did prove this prejudice to be wrong with their
talents and their diplomas , they were still opposed by numbers (Gould, p. 58). Biological
determinism is, in its essence, a theory of limits for it states that people who are at the bottom are
basically biologically inferior, which is reflected in their social status (Gould, p. 60). Both Darwin
and Mendel contributed to biological determinism and scientific racism, is that both opened the
doors to new anthropological scientific

Day Of Conformity
Analyzing a Day of nonconformity
Conformity is thought to be an important force in human evolution because it has the potential to
stabilize cultural similarities between cultural diversity groups (ClaidiГЁre, Bowler, Brookes,
Brown, Whiten, 2014). However, the effects of conformity can make us change the way we
behave and think due to the individuals are around us. According to Myers and Twenge (2015),
there are two varieties of conformity that happen when we are trying to adapt or change our
behavior in order to feel socially accepted by society. The first type of conformity is acceptance,
which is when we sincerely believe what others are telling us. The second type of conformity is
compliance, which is when we conform to the expectations ... Show more content on

Yet, the cost for not conforming can make a personfeel excluded and isolated from certain group
activities. In my opinion, I think that the benefits of living authentically outweigh its cost because
if people were always conforming to society, then we would not be able to think outside the box,
or even realize that we have a strong character to accomplish what we set out to do.
Usually, I conform to my peers by dressing similarly in a pair of shorts, a shirt, and sneakers. But
on the day of nonconformity, I decided to wear a sweater with long pants, and sandals. As for
my behavior, I typically conform to doing favors for my friends more than for other coworkers.
On the day of nonconformity, my coworkers and friends did notice the change in appearance but
not so much in my behavior, as I was not able to deny them a favor when they asked me for help.
Therefore, they did not act differently towards

Montresor s Moral Responsibility
In this character analysis of Montresor, the narrator in the Cask of Amontillado by edgar Allen
Poe I provide references as to how he fits a description of a sociopath. A sociopath is defined as:
a person with psychopathic personality whose behavior is antisocial, often criminal and who lacks
a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience. We see throughout the story a grandiose sense
of self, lack of remorse, glibness, manipulative behavior, shallow emotion, unreliability, the creation
of a willing victim, and lack of empathy. All of which are listed as classic actions of a sociopath.
Montresor feels that he has been insulted by Fortunato. Even though he has had a Thousand
injuries... (1) done to him by Fortunato he vowed revenge once insulted. Montressor appears to be a
vindictive man, another classic sign of a sociopath, and plots his revenge with a meticulous nature.
He formulated his plans so that no only does he avoid discipline, he comes up with a punishment
that will sufficiently put and end to possible further insults from Fortunato. I must not only punish
but punish with impunity: (5 6). It would also appear that perhaps Montresor is not a very
confrontational man, and picks his battles, continuing to be injured be Fortunato until he could no

Miriam Shlesinger s The Interpreting Studies Reader
1. Introduction
The introduction to the book The Interpreting Studies Reader outlines the purpose of this work. The
editors, Franz Pochhacker and Miriam Shlesinger, highlighted the absence of an up to date
anthology of the most notable historical and current writings on interpreting and interpreting as a
profession and set about to create a resource that would meet these needs. Pochhacker and
Shlesinger define interpreting on Pages 5 6, saying, Interpreting can be defined most broadly as
interlinguial, intercultural oral or signed mediation, enabling communication between individuals
or groups who do not share, or do not choose to use, the same language(s).
The editors go on to provide an overview of milestones in the area of interpreting studies, many of
which came about through doctoral dissertations; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking Back: Interpreting in Antiquity (Hermann)
Alfred Hermann, a German Egyptologist, is credited with writing the earliest overview on the topic
of interpreting. In this work, published in 1956, Hermann gives an overview of the history of
interpreting.
Hermann s work begins with the ancient Egyptians, who believed that they were superior to all
other races, referring to themselves alone as humans and to all others as barbarians. Ancient
Egyptian inscriptions never depict the literal words of these so called barbaric foreigners. The
foreigners are always shown requesting mercy, and their speeches are always from the point of
view of the Egyptians illustrating Egyptian prejudices. Egyptians utilized interpreters as early as the
fourteenth century and then from the seventh century forward. Egyptians relied on interpreters in
the Province of Elephantine, in the mining region of the Sinai Peninsula, and in their central
government. Hermann indicates that interpreters became so necessary that Phararoh Psammetichus
selected Egyptian boys to learn the Greek language from the Hellenic settlers in the Nile Delta

The Transition Of Public Management in America Essay
The Transition Of Public Management: 2000s
A puzzling question is what can be expected from public management and public managers in the
new millennium? What are the important issues such as regulatory reform, public sector budgeting,
human resources management, strategic policymaking, ethics, and corruption, now and in the
future? Will the alternative to government delivery of service be privatization? The concepts of
Rational Administration, Accountability, Planning, Control, Budgeting and Financial management
are major factors in the future of this nation and the world. Having a well managed public sector

This report is a must have for locals that face the threat of any privatization. (The Privatization)
Globalization is a factor in the New Millennium that must be included in almost any discussion
concerning the future. At the click of a finger, a businessman doing financial transaction in New
York can transfer dollars to any country where he is doing business. That is because of
globalization that has allowed the cheaper and faster transfer of speculative portfolio investment.
Since the late 1970s and early 1980s, globalization has been pushed for by countries dominant in
the world s major economic and political circles. As some would claim, not to globalize is to be
marginalized in the world community.
Globalization, as commonly discussed, refers to the explosive growth in the past 20 to 25 years of
huge multinational corporations and vast pools of capital that have crossed national borders and
penetrated everywhere. It was born out of the technological revolution and the crisis of
overproduction that followed the last two decades. Technological revolution in electronics and
information processing brought the world a whole new range of electronic consumer products. It
brought down the costs of trade and communications, triggered an over accumulation of productive
capital and resulted to overproduction in the major capitalists

The MRP is utilized for manufacturing, inventorying, and shipping. This system and data is just as
important as the ERP. Both are critical software components to Riordan Manufacturing success.
After reviewing the existing hardware and software being utilized, I have concluded that Riordan
Manufacturing must make changes to some hardware, software, and procedures affecting IT to be
able to meet it s current goals and expectation. To be able to do this, Riordan Manufacturing must
upgrade outdated equipment, upgrade unsupported operating systems and applications, and
consolidate databases and increase productivity. Some of the hardware that exists at Albany and
Pontiac sites needs upgrades to increase the productivity of the plants. The Albany site can change
its structure to mirror the Headquarter with a 100 base T Ethernet with switches and reduce the
amount of hardware and connections. The Pontiac site needs to upgrade to CAT 5 cabling to
reduce data transmission degradation. Next, replace the hubs, patch panels with switches, and run a
100 base T Ethernet. Furthermore, both sites need to upgrade to a full T 1 connection to support
the data transmission speed to headquarters. Software at both the Albany and Pontiac sites need to
be upgraded due to compatibility issues with other sites and the fact that the software is no longer
supported by the vendor. Both sites use WIN NT for the operating systems for their network and

A Crisis Of Character By Jody Williams
A Crisis of Character American political activist Jody Williams once said There s a mythology
that if you want to change the world, you have to be sainted like Mother Teresa or Archbishop
Desmond Tutu. But ordinary people with lives that go up and down and around in circles can still
contribute to change. In an excerpt from his essay Why Bother? published in the New York Times
Magazine, American public intellectual Michael Pollan reveals his goal to convince ordinary
American citizens that they are capable of changing their behavior in order to reduce America s
carbon footprint. Through the use of the four rhetorical elements situation, purpose, claim, and
audience, Pollan aspires to have his readers gain a greater understanding that the environmental
crisis is at heart a crisis of character (Pollan 766). However, although Pollan targets the correct
audience to carry out his purpose, he fails to provide proper evidence to support his claim that
individual contribution matters.
Pollan states that the situation that first motivated him to write about his distress over the state of
the environment came from a televised lecture made by American politician and environmentalist
Al Gore, entitled An Inconvenient Truth. The documentary was intended to raise awareness about
the dangers of global warming and encourage people to take appropriate action to successfully
reverse climate change. Pollan recalls that the really dark moment [of the lecture] came during the

Tertiary Structure
Task 2
a) The tertiary structure refers to the structural arrangement of amino acids that are found far away
from one another along the polypeptide chain. The tertiary structure is overall a three dimensional
shape of a protein molecule. It will bend and twist to achieve maximum stability. The shape of a
tertiary structure is made when the secondary structure folds in on itself and is held in place by
many bonds and interactions formed by the R groups in the amino acid chain. The bonds and
interactions involved are hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, hydrophobic interactions and disulphide
bonds. These bonds and interactions are located in different areas of the tertiary structure, the
hydrogen bonds are located inbetween polar R groups, ionic bonds are located between charged R
groups, hydrophobic interactions are located between nonpolar R groups and disulphide bonds are
formed generally in the endoplasmic reticulum by oxidation . Hydrogen bonds may form between
different sideВchain groups. Hydrophobic interactions are brought about in an aqueous site. The
tertiary structure is held together mainly by interactions that are located at the R groups.
A protein with a tertiary structure could be a myoglobin protein. The myoglobin protein has a alpha
helix. Bonds between the side groups of the amino acid are responsible for holding together the
tertiary structure of myoglobin. The myoglobin is found in the ... Show more content on

the organization s needs, it s clear ConAgra Foods main objective for its new training program is
to focus on providing its sales team with new skills; so every one of its salespeople know their
product lines and customers so well they can serve as trusted advisors (Noe et al., 202). This
means each employee needs to be trained in understanding financial data and how sales affect
ConAgra s profits. To accomplish this goal, the company has opened up a system to share training

Furthermore, by being able to track progress all the way through the program, a manager can see
what training methods were beneficial and areas which may need to be improved. When
developing the training program, the company planned well for ways to measure the results. This
truly gives ConAgra a competitive advantage over companies who do not evaluate their training
methods.
ConAgra decided to expand their training efforts to include the first line supervisors, because these
members may not have had a chance to practice how to become a leader of individuals and teams.
The purpose of the training program was to have its supervisors understand what is involved in
being a leader at ConAgra Foods so their groups can provide better results (Noe et al., 202). To
track the success of the members, employee surveys were used to add feedback and develop new
training procedures where improvement was needed. Overall, the program proved to have
decreased employee turnover. Economically speaking, the results proved to have saved the
company roughly $116,100 for every class of 28 supervisors trained (Noe et al., 202). According
to the company website, when comparing 600 trained and 1,600 untrained supervisors...Those who
went through the training also were nearly twice as likely to be promoted (ConAgra Brands).

In Fact I Love That Fawn By Paul Albar
In Medieval Al Andalus, many religions took control through the middle ages. This continuous
variation of control raised questions about the value of peace. Peace can be defined as a state in
which physical battles or fights do not occur. Indeed, when people were often settled, fighting did
not have a great presence, and peace was often valued as long as people did not interfere with
another s religion. However, peace often came with people in subtle disagreements about the way
of living. These disagreements, such as some spoken of by Paul Albar and Shmuel Hanagid, were
more private and would rarely infringe peace. In addition, peace was often forgotten when
someone began interfering with another s beliefs. In general, the Treaty of Tudmir laid out the
foundations for which peace would stand upon. The treaty displays how people valued peace, but
also holds flaws that could have lead to people in disagreement. The treaty outlines how sacred...

He uses poetry to express his disagreement. Once again, like Albar, he does not attempt to
infringe on peace. Hanagid expresses how homosexuality is wrongly frowned upon by people of
all religions. Therefore, throughout the peace people feel, Hanagid fails to find peace for
himself. One poem that can outline this is In Fact I Love That Fawn. From previous poems, the
fawn represents a lover, mostly perceived as another man. In the poem, Hanagid metaphorically
describes a sexual act with the man. Hanagid concludes by saying that it is a sin on him. In other
words, he is aware how homosexuality is a sin in the eyes of God and his believers. As many
people can come to peace on the fact of their religion being against homosexuality, Hanagid is an
outlier, like Paul Albar, as he disagrees with this characteristic of peace. Still, the disagreement
does not infringe peace, but Hanagid, as well as Albar, takes less value to these ideas of

Non Substance Disorder Support Group Meeting

because there was one at the Atonement Church, of which I am familiar. Once again plans

Threats of New Entrants
The barrier of entry is medium since there are competing companies. For example, Amazon s
Kindle Fire versus Apple iPad (Zimmerman 2010). The threat of new entrants is medium to low,
since new companies are gradually getting into the online business. For example, in December,
2011, eBay made revenues of about $3.38 billion, which is about 19.3% of Amazon s revenue.
2. Bargaining Power of Suppliers:
The bargaining power of the suppliers is very low since there are many suppliers who are willing to
sell their goods online using Amazon.com. The goods are usually sold to a third party, and suppliers
are paid quickly.
3. Threats of substitutes:
The threat of substitutes is very low, because of innovative services that improve the quality of
goods within a short period of time. There is also high brand recognition for the company that
makes it difficult to substitute their products. In addition, there is high customer satisfaction since
they get quality goods from the company. The company also offers well recognized and trusted
services. Lastly, this makes the threat of substitution very low.
4. Rivalry among industry competitors:
There is stiff competition among the retail companies. The competition between Amazon and Wal
Mart is very stiff, since both companies are using almost the same methods to remain leaders in the
retail industry. Both companies are using an online mechanism to sell their products, as well

Doubt By Sister Aloysius
Our dark ideas can sometimes lead us to choose the way things are perceived, the unquestioned
beliefs we hold reinforce our nature of certainty consequently clouding our judgment of the truth,
and making it difficult for us to see beyond the darkness. Doubt is a story about A Catholic school
in the Bronx, throughout the story a judgment is formed through the dislike of Father Flynn, which

him of wrongfully being involved with a troubled young African American Boy who s experienced

I think personal income tax in Texas should not become adopted; I feel it is an immoral thing

leave them with less money to pay their bills with more responsibilities. The personal income tax
is paid by people with the money they earn, and it sounds like a corrupted way of taking away
their hard earned wages. It may feel as though we pay personal income tax, but it is not included in
our income taxsystem. Many people still have to pay federal income tax, because it revenues them
in governing its share over three federal income taxes like; Social Security, Medicare and

the lines (606 612) of The Nun s Priest s Tale, Chanticleer learned from his mistakes and realized
that he should never allow compliments and flattery to get to his head because it can distract
him from real dangers. It is always better to be humble than think too highly of oneself. These
morals teach us a lesson. To sum up, these moral lessons teach us to be aware of the dangers of
flattery, follow our instincts; know when to talk, and not to fall into temptation by smooth talking
foxes . I am sure there are times when people put their modesty aside for a moment to accept some
compliments, which is harmless. It only becomes dangerous when people allow flattery to distract
them. Lo, swich it is for to be reccheless / and necligent and truste on flaterye

Discuss The Difference Between New England And The...
After waiting over 100 years before England joined the race for colonization, in 1607 England has
finally established a permanent colony in Jamestown. Years later, in 1620, supposedly trying to
land in Virginia, the Puritans accidentally landed in Plymouth Massachusetts. Therefore, while New
England and the Chesapeake region were both settled and ruled by the English, by the 1700s they
had evolved into two very separate distinct societies due to the differences in colonization, settlers,
and economic activities in each region.
The difference in colonization led to distinct societies between New England and the Chesapeake
regions. In 1607, after Sir Walter Raleighs colony of Roanoke was unsuccessful, Jamestown was
successfully colonized and was due to an economic purpose. As stated by John Smith, Dig gold,
wash gold, refine gold, load gold (Doc 5). John Smith clearly shows how the colonists only cared
about riches. They didn t care about establishing a colony as they were occupied and focused on
the path to riches. More than half of us died (Doc 5). Due to this greed of riches and lack of
control in the colony, many settlers as a consequence died. However, due to John Smith and his
control over the colony, led Jamestown to not fail like the colony of Roanoke. Now while colonists
focused on the economic gain they would receive from Jamestown, the Puritans focused on the
religious freedom they would finally acquire. Now the Puritans wanted to separate from the Church

The Great Smoky Mountains a border between Tennessee and North Carolina, and the Blue Ridge

The North Carolina Historic Landmarks from plantations, battleships, lighthouses or museums are
part of the history of this great state.
The Battle of Bentonville, Bethania Historic District, the Biltmore Estate, The Blackwell and

Transgender Equality In Sports
How does one define gender? Is it in terms of sex or is a distinct term with separate qualities and
qualifications? In the past century, sports have wrestled with these questions on how to qualify and
quantify gender. By addressing these issues, whether intentional or not, the sports world has
certainly broken down some barriers to transgender equality. Nevertheless, there is certainly more
work to do to further progress transgender equality in sports and arguably it is the moral obligation
of the sports world to pursue such equality. Ultimately, transgender people should have the right to
pursue competitive careers that match their gender identity. Before addressing the issue of
transgender equality in sports one must first understand what... Show more content on

The argument centers around the idea that female transgender athletes may have unfair advantages
over their competitors due to their strength or height that is a byproduct of testosterone (Time,
2015). This proposal has multiple flaws. First, there is the misconception that female transsexual
athletes keep the physical strength of their previously male body, but this claim is not supported
by medical facts (Krane Barak, 2012). Specifically, studies have shown that after one year a
transitioning transsexuals testosterone levels drop to be consistent with those of a cisgender female
athlete, their muscle mass decreases, their body fat redistributed to match their identity, [and] bone
density is decreased (Krane Barak, 2012). Consequently, researchers have concluded that female
transsexuals can compete in sports without having an inherent physiological advantage (Krane
Barak, 2012). Now, some may argue that based on this evidence only transsexual athletes should
be allowed to compete, which brings up my second point: the pervasive idea that male athletes are
inherently superior to female athletes. Not only is such an idea sexist in nature, it is also
discriminatory. In general, transgender males do not tend to face as much opposition to allow them
to play competitively (Time, 2015). This difference in

Choosing The Correct Teaching Method
Teaching Methods
Introduction
Choosing the correct teaching method is important to help the learner retain and learn information
in an effective and efficient way. Tobacco use is a health related topic that needs further education
and intervention from a nurse. When selecting two teaching methods that are of interest to me,
which would be beneficial to use when educating a small group of five people about this health
related topic are group discussion and demonstration and return demonstration. Group discussion
involves the deliverance of medical information or education to a small group of individuals which
may include their family so information, opinions can be exchanged with the nurse. This is simple
way to deliver information to more than one person at one time if time management is a concern,
and the nurse is able to build trust and rapport with the group as a whole. Demonstration and return
demonstration works more effectively in a small group and involves education or teaching with the
nurse and learner(s). This method also allows time for feedback from both parties. The nurse gives
the learner a demonstration of a task to perform and the learner has to attempt to carry out the task
back showing competence, and the nurse is on standby to give cues as needed.
Group discussions Group discussions are beneficial as this teaching method is useful as it allows
the learners to share information about their personal experiences and is both economically and

The Endocrinology Of Male And Female Reproduction
Reproductive physiology is comprised of many tightly coordinated functions of the endocrine
system including the hypothalamus, pituitary and reproductive organs whose dynamic function
plays several critical roles in growth and development as well was reproduction. The hypothalamic
pituitary gonadal axis plays a critical role in the development and regulation of the reproductive
system. These tightly regulated functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously
changing signals from the central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The
hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis is comprised of major hormones, including gonadotropin
releasing hormone(GnRH), luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and
operate through both positive and negative feedback loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any
part of this axis s function, either by altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the
physiology can impacted by immediate and downstream effects. An understanding of the
endocrinology of male and female reproduction, is required to understand how toxicological effects
can have severe consequences on reproductive physiology.
GnRH is a prominent reproductive hormone that is produced in neural cells in the hypothalamus.
GnRH is secreted into the bloodstream where it is carried downstream to the pituitary gland and
activates the Gonadotropin Releasing hormone receptor. 2 Once these cells are activated, signal

Implementing Observational Learning
The following essay provides the reader with a cursory understanding of observational learning and
how it may be implemented within the classroom. The paper first explores a workable definition of
observational learning primarily through the concept of modeling and vicarious learning. The
second part discusses the roles of the teacher and environment. The paper then discusses how
observational learningmay be used to teach positive attitudes and effective thinking skills, also
achieved through vicarious learning. Scaffolding , a learning strategy that utilizes observational and
vicarious learning is explored in the last section of this paper.
Observational learning is basically learning by watching others, referred as models. There are ...

This is referred as vicarious reinforcement, whereas vicarious punishment occurs when a student
observes a peer facing consequences for a behavior that the observer is also doing. The peer
facing a consequence essentially forces the observer to also stop behaving in a similar fashion.
Vicarious extinction occurs when the observer notices that a behavior does not produce the desired
result, therefore they cease the behavior (Vockell, 2004).
The integration of observational learning would begin with the teacher. The teacher may be the
primary role model in the classroom environment, hence it is imperative to project positive
behaviors and qualities and refrain from behaviors and attitudes that tend to diminish opportunities
towards intellectual, social and developmental growth within each student (Vockell, 2004). The
classroom environment is also taken into consideration. Environmental factors may affect outcomes
related to modeling techniques. The idea is to limit the potential effects of sensory stimuli, such as
when closing doors to the classroom in order to lessen external noise or distractions.
Attitude and thinking skills can be learned vicariously, [C]hildren develop a large number of
thinking strategies by imitating the ways their peers think. Teachers can exploit opportunities for
observational learning of attitudes and thinking skills related to academic subjects.

Essay Todays Rising Gas Prices
Today s Rising Gas Prices
At some point in everyone s lives, we are affected by the rising gas prices in today s economy.
Natural gas is not a renewable resource, since there is a fixed amount of it trapped in the Earth.
However, many people carry the misconception that there is a very limited amount of natural gas,
and that we may use all of it up. This isn t true. The gas shortages of the 1970 s were prompted
by the government s lack of faith in the industry s ability to discover and develop new reserves,
not by lack of gas supply. The unfortunate impression left by the shortages of gas in the 1970 s
caused the people to believe that there was a small amount of gas left. On the contrary, the gas
resource base is vast, and probably even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inflation can be noticed when the prices of basic commodities increases such as milk, gas and
bread. It is a rise in all prices simultaneously. Inflation is caused when the demand for something
exceeds the supply. This causes the price of that particular item to go up which in turn causes
wages to go up and operating costs also increase (inflation).
Over the past two years, oil prices have increased very rapidly. With OPECproduction cuts and a
growth in crude oil demand, oil prices went from a 25 year low of $11 per barrel in February
1999 to a peak of close to $36 per barrel in December 2003 (Jablon 1). Some analyst, however,
said the cut could soon push crude prices above the psychologically important threshold of $40
per barrel and worsen the pain for U.S. motorists ( Rising Prices Fuel Gas Clash 1). During this
winter, the price of natural gas has gone through the roof. This brings many questions to mind. Are
the companies just raising prices? Is there actually a shortage that is causing the raise in price?
It turns out that the market for natural gas is a very competitive one and that there is in fact a
shortage in supply that is causing the price to increase. Natural gas must be drilled for and there
are only a certain number of active companies that drill and they all have a set amount of capital.
In the short run the supply of natural gas is very inelastic because they cannot just produce more
gas. They would need

Organic Chemistry Of Chemical Reactions
Organic Chemistry
Organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon compounds. It deals with the structure, properties and
reactions of compounds that contain carbon and includes those from nature as well as synthetic
compounds. Organic chemistry, often termed as the chemistry of design , allows new molecules to
be created such as in the manufacture of plastics, polymers, fuels, soaps, detergents, drugs and
medicines. These, if carefully designed, have important properties for the improvement of mankind.
One such example of manipulating organic compounds through chemical reactions is the
development of Aspirin and later, other associated analgesics or non steroidal anti inflammatory
drugs.

Why Is Lewis Murdered
LEWIS S DEATH ESSAY (Due 3.28.18) Meriwether Lewis is an American explorer who is
known for his role as the leader in the Lewis and Clark expedition. He was also the governor of
the Louisiana Territory. He was also Jefferson s private secretary, these two were close friends.
Since Jefferson trusted Lewis, he let Lewis travel to D.C to deliver Jefferson s classified
information. During Lewis s travel to Washington, he visited Robert Grinder s Inn to rest,
however, while he was there he died. Lewis s death was a murder and not a suicide; Nevertheless,
a murder by conspiracy. There was a autopsy report of the investigation by the medical examiner.
Accordingly, it stated that Lewis had two gunshot wounds. One of the shots was in the back... Show

Looking back at the physical evidence there were two gunshot wounds. If you go back to the
ballistic test, the gun that was used took some parts of the structure s head. If he shot himself
with the gun that was similar to the horse pistol, that would ve been enough for him to die. It
seems unlikely for him to be able to shoot himself once with that gun, proceed to reload the gun
and shoot himself once more. He would ve been dead after one shot and would not be able to
shoot himself again with that kind of gun. The evidence from Priscilla Grinder, it was pretty off
and suspicious. Every letter was different along with the situation. Her story consistently
changed and inconsistent. Then there was Russel s letter. The letter Major Russel wrote to
Jefferson saying that Lewis was in a deranged state of mind and that he tried to commit suicide
twice, however, this handwritten analysis wasn t written by him. This was a forged document
and it showed that Jefferson was duked. It was possibly forged by Neely or Wilkinson to
incriminate Lewis s Suicide . This evidence shows that Lewis s death is a murder and not a suicide.

To consider a recovery to be more robust when looking solely at the GDPC1, the increase would
need to be greater or there would need to be less of a decrease. For both of the recession
/recovery periods, the GDPC1 starting value was greater than the ending value, meaning the
market value of production decreased from the start to the end. The first recession had a greater
decrease in the GDPC1 (1.96 decrease) than the second recession (1.02 decrease). The second
recovery had less decrease in the GDPC1 (2.3 decrease) than the first recovery (4.27 decrease).
Overall, the first recession/recovery period had a greater decrease in the GDPC1 (1.23

data, the conclusion is that the first recession was more severe and the second recovery more

one thing, my satin scarf and bonnet wouldn t stay on my head because my hair was so silky,
they just slid right off it. Same thing for my ponytail holder. I felt like I constant replacing my
bonnet and fixing my ponytail and I had no time for that. Having worn my hair straightened had
really intensified my natural hair love and since it was about four weeks between the straightening
and taking the test, I was still mentally in that place. In fact, I d only had my natural hair back for

The Eyes Of God s Adjunct
It s raining outside, beating a dissonant harmony down the peaked roof. The sky is weeping, for
my sins that cry to heaven. No sunlight streams through the stained glass to illuminate the

opaque. I m unworthy of His light, even in here. When it s finally my turn, I enter the
confessional and kneel. I feel the eyes through the screen looking at me, as though they can see
right through me. The eyes of God s adjunct. I can pretend that God does not know what is in my
heart or my sins, but I cannot hide from the priest, who is solid and real in the box beside me.
The box like a coffin, hot and humid, like I imagine Hell would be. This should be cleansing, a

Slavery in American Literature
Slavery in the United States was a form of unfree labor which existed as a legal institution in North
America for more than a century before the founding of the United States in 1776, and continued
mostly in the South until the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States
Constitution in 1865. Most slaves were black and were held by whites, although some Native
Americans and free blacks also held slaves; there were a small number of white slaves as well.
. Slavery spread to the areas where there was good quality soil for large plantations of high value
cash crops, such as tobacco, cotton, sugar, and coffee. By the early decades of the 19th century, the

The slave narratives also gave Northerners a glimpse into the life of slave communities: the love
between family members, the respect for elders, the bonds between friends. They described an

lives of enslaved African American men, women and children. (in incheiere)
Uncle Tom s Cabin had a tremendous impact. The character Uncle Tom is an African American
who retains his integrity and refuses to betray his fellow slaves at the cost of his life. His firm
Christian principles in the face of his brutal treatment made him a hero to whites. In contrast, his
tormenter Simon Legree, the Northern slave dealer turned plantation owner, enraged them with his
cruelty. Stowe convinced readers that the institution of slavery itself was evil, because it supported
people like Legree and enslaved people like Uncle Tom. Because of her work, thousands rallied to
the anti slavery cause.
Southerners were outraged, and declared the work to be criminal, slanderous, and utterly false. A
bookseller in Mobile, Alabama, was forced out of town for selling copies. Stowe received
threatening letters and a package containing the dismembered ear of a black person. Southerners

  • 3. History Of Geographic Information Systems ( Gis ) The History of Geographic Information Systems Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are a way that information can embedded into and retrieved from maps, today this is done using computers, because of the complexity of the information that can be used, but was once done manually. GIS has become common place in the modern world that we live in, they are useful for simple things such basic maps to much more complex tasks including research and statistics, city planning, as well as many more. One of the first uses of a GIS was in the fight against cholera, first Charles Picquet produced a map of 48 districts in Paris that displayed the number of deaths from cholera per 1000 inhabitants using a colour gradient (Bagais, 2012). Then in 1854 John Snow, an English doctor, created a GIS map of a cholera outbreak in Soho, London. His map used points to show where each case of cholera had occurred, through the use of this technique he was able to determine that the cause of the cholera outbreak was a water pump located on Broad Street, of which he removed the handle and ended the epidemic (Johnson, 2006). The development of GIS was very slow in these early years, and it was not until the early 20th century that any real advancement in GIS was seen, this was because of the increasing development of photozincography (Cook, 2002). Photozincography allowed the development of layers, these are a key component of any GIS, and each layer was drawn by hand onto individual glass plates. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay on King Henry VIII King Henry VIII Born the second son of a royal family, Henry Tudor lived a very interesting life. His future was intended to be the head of the Roman Catholic Church and that fate ended with the death of his brother, Prince Arthur. Henry s majestic life was full of sports, women, and faith. The young King acceded his father to the throne, married six women, and began the English Reformation when he broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and created his own religion. On the 28th day of June 1491 at Greenwich Palace, Elizabeth of York gave birth to her third child Henry Tudor. Henry was named after his father Henry VII and he was the couple s second son, which meant that there was no chance for him to reign as King since he had an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A papal dispensation, or permission from the pope, needed to be issued in order for Prince Henry to marry his brother s widow. According to the book of Leviticus, the marriage was prohibited and if a brother is to marry the wife of a brother they will remain childless . After the death of her husband, Catherine denied that her marriage had been consummated and that no dispensation was required. Both England and Spain agreed that a papal dispensation was needed to assure that the marriage was justifiable. However, even after the papal dispensation was granted, Prince Henry and his brother s widow did not wed because King Henry VII failed to keep his end of the bargain ( Henry VIII King of England 2). In 1509, Henry VII died and Henry, heir apparent, became King of England at eighteen years old. After the death of Henry VII and the accession of the throne by his son, Henry became Henry VIII and his first assignment was to execute his father s ministers. It wasn t until a few months after the death of his father that Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon ( Henry VIII King of England 2). In the early years of Henry VIII s reign, he was tall and handsome. Henry VIII was very talented in many things, including playing various musical instruments, being athletic, being a good linguist, dancing, hunting, and a musical composer among many other attributes (Fry 95). • 6. Analysis Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Essay In Shelley s Frankenstein, the reader feels great sympathy for the female characters in the novel. The characters Caroline Beaufort, Elizabeth Lavenza and Justine are characterized as good hearted and upright woman, but nevertheless face an injustice death. In Frankenstein, women in the text are being destructed through an inevitable miserable fate to get the idea of the passive woman that devotes herself to the benefactor and her lack of agency across, in which is demonstrated in the passivity of Caroline, Elizabeth and Justine s role that leads to their misery. The first victim in Shelley s novel, Caroline, faces extreme destitution in the beginning of her life in which her situation is mediated by a benefactor, Alphonse Frankenstein; the passivity of Caroline s role is characterized by the absence of agency in the choices that she makes and a death that is unjust but unavoidable that she has no power of rewinding. At the beginning of the novel, we come to know Caroline as destituted and orphaned when Alphonse Frankenstein finds Caroline mourning over the death of her father Beaufort. However, Caroline s hardship terminates when she is rescued by Alphonse when Alphonse came like a protecting spirit to the poor girl, who committed herself to his care (Shelley, p.19) and in which after two years after this event, Caroline became his wife (Shelley, p.19). Caroline s dependence and eventual marriage to Alphonse is significant in that it perfectly illustrates her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Dimmesdale Lacks Courage in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Scarlet... The Scarlet Letter Dimmesdale is Good, but Lacks Courage There is a fine line between hypocrisy and cowardice. Arthur Dimmesdale, a principal character in Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter provides a perfect example of how thin that line can be. The Scarlet Letter relates a story about sin and the many consequences of not having strength of character. The true nature of Reverend Dimmesdale s character has been debated since the first publication of the novel. Dimmesdale is considered by many to be a hypocrite because he cared more about protecting his reputation than he did about protecting the woman he loved. Others view the Reverend in a more sympathetic light and see him as not a hypocrite, but as a good man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is proved by looking at the torment the Reverend faced internally and externally, his intentions, and his love and concern for the welfare of Hester and his illegitimate daughter, Pearl. The agony that Reverend Dimmesdale was feeling throughout the novel had many origins. For example, his conscience had a great negative effect on him. By keeping his sin a secret, he internalized the pain that is inevitably a consequence of sinning. The anguished Dimmesdale struggles to pacify his conscience as it consumes his very being. With every successive Sabbath, his cheeks grew paler and thinner, and his voice more tremulous than before. This shows that while Hester s pain was a mental anguish, the Reverend had to deal with both mental as well as physical pain. Each time Dimmesdale stood in front of his congregation, he felt weaker and more ashamed. Dimmesdale s pain could be seen not only in his demeanor but also by the clutching of his chest. Throughout the novel, the Reverend could be seen placing his hand over his heart, as if the pain of seeing Pearl, or talking to Hester, or merely realizing what he has done, was too much for him to bear. Pearl often times is quoted noticing the Reverend s strange habit A strange, sad man is he (Dimmesdale), with his hand always over his heart! An analogy can be made that the Reverend covers his heart from eyes that can see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. What I Was A Salesman No sooner then did I arrive home from class, I received a call from what I assumed was a salesman. It was in fact, a salesman, but was for instead something I had already bought. The call regarded a custom shirt I had ordered online. A T shirt with a blocky cartoon drawing of Otto von Bismarck on it. The operator on the phone told me that the company could not print me the shirt because the image was copyrightof some artist who sold the design on another website. I tried explaining that I had taken reference from probably the same image but I had changed it to be another art style. This however was not good enough for them, and thus had canceled my order. After spending what felt like an hour scouring Google I finally found the shirt that I was apparently infringing upon . It was located on an obviously outdated website and at first displayed no price. After adding it to the cart to see if I could find a checkout price, I was directed to a page saying the shirts are no longer available as of 2008. If I could not buy one legally , or by the rules what am I to do? As a consumer of the twenty first century capitalist free market society, there will always be a way to secure merchandise one way or another through relatively easy, and legal means. Then, the bigger picture hit me. Why is it that the face of a person of historical significance is copyrighted by someone who makes t shirts and then refuses to sell them? . Hpv Research Paper Jaydann McCorkle Mrs. Retherford AP/Ivy Tech English 111 7 May 2018 Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Education Human Papillomavirus is a broad term used to describe over one hundred and fifty related viruses. The Human Papillomavirus, better known as HPV is named for the warts (papillomas) that become present on the skin of an HPV victim. HPV is transmitted via intamainte skin to skin contact. Each year a small number of cases of HPV go unknown because no symptoms are present or the body fights away the virus. Other cases that do not go away commonly are expressed in genital warts and cancers. Some cancers commonly developed from HPV are cervical, vaginal, anus, back of the throat, tonsil and tongue cancers (What). In recent years researchers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A study of college age women showed that approximately 70% of women with HPV infections became HPV negative within 1 year and as many as 91% of them became HPV negative within 2 years, with a median duration of infection of 8 months. Certain HPV types, such as HPV 16, are associated with increased rates of persistence; however, in the previously mentioned study, the 24 month clearance of HPV 16 was 72%. Thus, the majority of these infections clear. Other factors associated with persistent HPV infection include age higher than 30, parity, infection with multiple HPV subtypes, immunosuppression, smoking, and oral contraceptive use. Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia caused by HPV can clear without treatment, but the rate of clearance varies according to the severity of the lesion; high grade lesions have a greater rate of progression to cervical cancer (Blackman). Sixty percent of CIN 1 lesions are likely to regress spontaneously, 10% are likely to progress to CIN 3, and only 1% is likely to progress to invasive cancer. For CIN 3, these numbers are quite different: approximately one third of these lesions are likely to regress, and the rate of progression to cervical cancer is greater than 12% if left ... • 12. The Effects Of Malnutrition On Educational Disparities The Impact of Malnutrition on Educational Disparities in Africa By: Merette Khalil and Blessing Kuebee, African Students Association At the start of the millennium, various United Nations (UN) partners came together to tackle some of the world s deadliest and most pressing social and economic problems, and in doing so, established the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In the past 15 years, the MDGs have been evaluated and re evaluated. This year the UN has declared a new set of 17 goals for the next 15 years called the Sustainable Development Goals. The first issue on both agendas is the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger, a problem that is specifically significant for the entire continent of Africa. Clarifying a few terms based on the World Food Program s definition is essential to understanding the scope of the problem. Hunger is not having enough to eat to meet energy requirements. It can lead to malnutrition, which is a condition when one s diet does not provide adequate nutrients for growth and maintenance or when a person is not able to adequately utilize the food consumed due to illness. Undernutrition, being nutrient deficient, being underweight and even being overweight are all complications that result from hunger. Undernourishment is when a person is not able to acquire enough food to meet the daily minimum dietary energy requirements, over a period of one year. Wasting is rapid weight loss or a failure to gain weight and is strongly related ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Evaluating Friedman s Instrumentalism Introduction Since the 2008 financial crisis, economists have been blamed for their incapability to predict the collapse of the financial system with economic models. It has been widely debated about the role of economic models, in particular their underlying assumptions and their ability to predict the upcoming events. Colander et al pointed out that unrealistic assumptions plays a main role in the failure of economic models (Colander et al 2009: 7 10). Opponents would invariably point their fingers towards Friedman s Methodology of Positive Economics ; where he proposed that the validity of assumptions is totally irrelevant when evaluating economic models, only the usefulness of prediction matters. Nonetheless, when evaluating economic models, we should take into account the description, explanation and understanding of the world. In this essay, by using the Ricardian model as an example, I will illustrate that even if one only cares about the prediction, we should also address the importance of assumptions, which would then lead us to explore the true purpose of science. The Ricardian Model The Ricardian trade model is a simple yet powerful theory that refutes common fallacies about the causations of trade flows. It illustrates that, instead of absolute advantage, it is comparative advantage that brings forth the gains from trade. Comparative advantage refers to the ability to produce a product at a lower opportunity cost than another. This ability is the result of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Lost People Of Civilization Summary The Lost Peoples of Civilization The topic of the American West has captivated and mystified people for decades. Tightly interwoven into the American identity and dream, Westward expansion is often seen with a positive and nearly nostalgic lens. Although we still dream to incorporate the spirit and values learned from expansion, the civilization the Great West did not serve each individual equally. While the civilization provides structure necessary for settlement and community, it also isolates and separates certain peoples. In the West, civilization was accompanied by ripples that adversely affected both American and Native peoples. Released by the highly praised John Ford in 1939, Stagecoach represents the people s dominant perception of the American West. The movie revolves around a diverse group of characters that have boarded the Overland stagecoach bound for Lordsburg, New Mexico. But along the way, the group must avoid reservation escapee Geronimo and his band of rogue Native Americans. As with the Turnerian model, there are two forces constantly in competition with each other: civilization (i.e. the stagecoach and associates) and savagery (i.e. the Native Americans). While the stagecoach passengers speak in full sentences and have active conversations, the Geronimo gang is never heard beyond a few primal grunts. Although the men of the stagecoach possess guns, many of the Native Americans are still using primitive weapons such as clubs, spears, and bows and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Biological Determinism And Social And Economic Differences... Question 1. Biological determinism as stated by Gould, states that shared behavioral norms, and the social and economic differences between human groups primarily races, classes, and sexes arise from inherited, inborn distinctions and that society, in this sense, is an accurate reflection of biology (Gould, p.52). He explains this idea further through his explanation of how biological determinism can be measured or assigned based on the craniometry, which is the size of the skull, for at the time it was believed that the larger the skull, the more intelligent that individual was. This explanation became one of the earliest works connected to scientific racism. Gould, believed that during this time many scientists used their own prejudices, and bias s when concluding their research, such as the work of French anthropologist, Paul Broca, who stated that the small brains of women concluded that men were to be regarded as more intelligent, as well as, above women, however, although women did prove this prejudice to be wrong with their talents and their diplomas , they were still opposed by numbers (Gould, p. 58). Biological determinism is, in its essence, a theory of limits for it states that people who are at the bottom are basically biologically inferior, which is reflected in their social status (Gould, p. 60). Both Darwin and Mendel contributed to biological determinism and scientific racism, is that both opened the doors to new anthropological scientific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Day Of Conformity Analyzing a Day of nonconformity Conformity is thought to be an important force in human evolution because it has the potential to stabilize cultural similarities between cultural diversity groups (ClaidiГЁre, Bowler, Brookes, Brown, Whiten, 2014). However, the effects of conformity can make us change the way we behave and think due to the individuals are around us. According to Myers and Twenge (2015), there are two varieties of conformity that happen when we are trying to adapt or change our behavior in order to feel socially accepted by society. Hermann s work begins with the ancient Egyptians, who believed that they were superior to all other races, referring to themselves alone as humans and to all others as barbarians. Ancient Egyptian inscriptions never depict the literal words of these so called barbaric foreigners. The foreigners are always shown requesting mercy, and their speeches are always from the point of view of the Egyptians illustrating Egyptian prejudices. Egyptians utilized interpreters as early as the fourteenth century and then from the seventh century forward. Egyptians relied on interpreters in the Province of Elephantine, in the mining region of the Sinai Peninsula, and in their central government. A Crisis Of Character By Jody Williams A Crisis of Character American political activist Jody Williams once said There s a mythology that if you want to change the world, you have to be sainted like Mother Teresa or Archbishop Desmond Tutu. But ordinary people with lives that go up and down and around in circles can still contribute to change. In an excerpt from his essay Why Bother? published in the New York Times Magazine, American public intellectual Michael Pollan reveals his goal to convince ordinary American citizens that they are capable of changing their behavior in order to reduce America s carbon footprint. Through the use of the four rhetorical elements situation, purpose, claim, and audience, Pollan aspires to have his readers gain a greater understanding that the environmental crisis is at heart a crisis of character (Pollan 766). However, although Pollan targets the correct audience to carry out his purpose, he fails to provide proper evidence to support his claim that individual contribution matters. Pollan states that the situation that first motivated him to write about his distress over the state of the environment came from a televised lecture made by American politician and environmentalist Al Gore, entitled An Inconvenient Truth. The tertiary structure is overall a three dimensional shape of a protein molecule. It will bend and twist to achieve maximum stability. The shape of a tertiary structure is made when the secondary structure folds in on itself and is held in place by many bonds and interactions formed by the R groups in the amino acid chain. The bonds and interactions involved are hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, hydrophobic interactions and disulphide bonds. These bonds and interactions are located in different areas of the tertiary structure, the hydrogen bonds are located inbetween polar R groups, ionic bonds are located between charged R groups, hydrophobic interactions are located between nonpolar R groups and disulphide bonds are formed generally in the endoplasmic reticulum by oxidation . Hydrogen bonds may form between different sideВchain groups. Hydrophobic interactions are brought about in an aqueous site. This continuous variation of control raised questions about the value of peace. Peace can be defined as a state in which physical battles or fights do not occur. Indeed, when people were often settled, fighting did not have a great presence, and peace was often valued as long as people did not interfere with another s religion. However, peace often came with people in subtle disagreements about the way of living. These disagreements, such as some spoken of by Paul Albar and Shmuel Hanagid, were more private and would rarely infringe peace. In addition, peace was often forgotten when someone began interfering with another s beliefs. In general, the Treaty of Tudmir laid out the foundations for which peace would stand upon. • 33. Non Substance Disorder Support Group Meeting Having thought about which non substance disorder support group meeting I would like to attend, I originally choose Sex Addicts Anonymous (SA) because I knew someone decades ago who became a member, and knowing the person well, I have been curious about the meetings for some time now. However, the SA meetings are closed, in retrospect this makes sense for a variety of reasons, and since I could not tell them that I considered myself to qualify as a sex addict, I had to make another choice. My next choice was an Overeaters Anonymous meeting because there was one at the Atonement Church, of which I am familiar. Once again plans changed, and I was destined to arrive at the Wyomissing Church of the Brethren at 2200 State Hill Road. Consequently, this was a Wednesday evening meeting at 5:15 p.m. I live across from Centre Park in Town and I got stuck in an obscene amount of traffic trying to get on the Warren Street Bypass. At one point, I figured that I maybe could turn around and try the Thursday OE meeting at Atonement because I was getting so anxious worrying where exactly I had to go, and if I would walk in late, and this I definitely did not want to do. Deciding to press on, I pulled into the parking lot at 5:17, so I continued into what I presumed to be the front lobby. There were signs strewn about regarding community meetings and such, but nothing about OE specifically, and no signs of life. Thankfully, my meeting instincts kicked in, and I stood still, calmed ... For example, in December, 2011, eBay made revenues of about $3.38 billion, which is about 19.3% of Amazon s revenue. 2. Bargaining Power of Suppliers: The bargaining power of the suppliers is very low since there are many suppliers who are willing to sell their goods online using Amazon.com. The goods are usually sold to a third party, and suppliers are paid quickly. 3. Threats of substitutes: The threat of substitutes is very low, because of innovative services that improve the quality of goods within a short period of time. There is also high brand recognition for the company that makes it difficult to substitute their products. In addition, there is high customer satisfaction since they get quality goods from the company. The company also offers well recognized and trusted services. Lastly, this makes the threat of substitution very low. 4. Rivalry among industry competitors: There is stiff competition among the retail companies. The competition between Amazon and Wal Mart is very stiff, since both companies are using almost the same methods to remain leaders in the retail industry. Both companies are using an online mechanism to sell their products, as well

After waiting over 100 years before England joined the race for colonization, in 1607 England has finally established a permanent colony in Jamestown. Years later, in 1620, supposedly trying to land in Virginia, the Puritans accidentally landed in Plymouth Massachusetts. Therefore, while New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled and ruled by the English, by the 1700s they had evolved into two very separate distinct societies due to the differences in colonization, settlers, and economic activities in each region. The difference in colonization led to distinct societies between New England and the Chesapeake regions. In 1607, after Sir Walter Raleighs colony of Roanoke was unsuccessful, Jamestown was successfully colonized and was due to an economic purpose. As stated by John Smith, Dig gold, wash gold, refine gold, load gold (Doc 5). John Smith clearly shows how the colonists only cared about riches. They didn t care about establishing a colony as they were occupied and focused on the path to riches. More than half of us died (Doc 5). Due to this greed of riches and lack of control in the colony, many settlers as a consequence died. However, due to John Smith and his control over the colony, led Jamestown to not fail like the colony of Roanoke. In the past century, sports have wrestled with these questions on how to qualify and quantify gender. Nevertheless, there is certainly more work to do to further progress transgender equality in sports and arguably it is the moral obligation of the sports world to pursue such equality. The argument centers around the idea that female transgender athletes may have unfair advantages over their competitors due to their strength or height that is a byproduct of testosterone (Time, 2015). This proposal has multiple flaws. First, there is the misconception that female transsexual athletes keep the physical strength of their previously male body, but this claim is not supported by medical facts (Krane Barak, 2012). Specifically, studies have shown that after one year a transitioning transsexuals testosterone levels drop to be consistent with those of a cisgender female athlete, their muscle mass decreases, their body fat redistributed to match their identity, [and] bone density is decreased (Krane Barak, 2012). Consequently, researchers have concluded that female transsexuals can compete in sports without having an inherent physiological advantage (Krane Barak, 2012). Now, some may argue that based on this evidence only transsexual athletes should be allowed to compete, which brings up my second point: the pervasive idea that male athletes are inherently superior to female athletes. • 45. Choosing The Correct Teaching Method Teaching Methods Introduction Choosing the correct teaching method is important to help the learner retain and learn information in an effective and efficient way. Tobacco use is a health related topic that needs further education and intervention from a nurse. When selecting two teaching methods that are of interest to me, which would be beneficial to use when educating a small group of five people about this health related topic are group discussion and demonstration and return demonstration. Group discussion involves the deliverance of medical information or education to a small group of individuals which may include their family so information, opinions can be exchanged with the nurse. This is simple way to deliver information to more than one person at one time if time management is a concern, and the nurse is able to build trust and rapport with the group as a whole. Demonstration and return demonstration works more effectively in a small group and involves education or teaching with the nurse and learner(s). This method also allows time for feedback from both parties. The nurse gives the learner a demonstration of a task to perform and the learner has to attempt to carry out the task back showing competence, and the nurse is on standby to give cues as needed. The Endocrinology Of Male And Female Reproduction Reproductive physiology is comprised of many tightly coordinated functions of the endocrine system including the hypothalamus, pituitary and reproductive organs whose dynamic function plays several critical roles in growth and development as well was reproduction. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis plays a critical role in the development and regulation of the reproductive system. These tightly regulated functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously changing signals from the central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis is comprised of major hormones, including gonadotropin releasing hormone(GnRH), luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and operate through both positive and negative feedback loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any part of this axis s function, either by altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the physiology can impacted by immediate and downstream effects. An understanding of the endocrinology of male and female reproduction, is required to understand how toxicological effects can have severe consequences on reproductive physiology. GnRH is a prominent reproductive hormone that is produced in neural cells in the hypothalamus. GnRH is secreted into the bloodstream where it is carried downstream to the pituitary gland and activates the Gonadotropin Releasing hormone receptor. 2 Once these cells are activated, signal transduction ... The peer facing a consequence essentially forces the observer to also stop behaving in a similar fashion. Vicarious extinction occurs when the observer notices that a behavior does not produce the desired result, therefore they cease the behavior (Vockell, 2004). The integration of observational learning would begin with the teacher. The teacher may be the primary role model in the classroom environment, hence it is imperative to project positive behaviors and qualities and refrain from behaviors and attitudes that tend to diminish opportunities towards intellectual, social and developmental growth within each student (Vockell, 2004). The classroom environment is also taken into consideration. Environmental factors may affect outcomes related to modeling techniques. The idea is to limit the potential effects of sensory stimuli, such as when closing doors to the classroom in order to lessen external noise or distractions. Over the past two years, oil prices have increased very rapidly. With OPECproduction cuts and a growth in crude oil demand, oil prices went from a 25 year low of $11 per barrel in February 1999 to a peak of close to $36 per barrel in December 2003 (Jablon 1).
