Beethoven Op-2 Essay
In the first movement of Beethoven s Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, op. 2, the
composer draws on a variety of stylistic strands that contributed to the evolution of the
mature classical style. Through an analysis of specific musical elements, which
include references to form and style, structure, harmony, thematic material, dynamics
and textural considerations, I will show how Beethoven adheres to the formal and
stylistic conventions associated with the sonata during this period, as well as how he
asserted his own voice, creating his own Beethovenian style. Beethoven makes use of
a multitude of styles throughout the exposition, moving from style galant to Sturm
und Drang and ending in empfandsamer. The primary themein mm. 1 8 exemplifies
the qualities of style galant. Beethoven uses a two measure long motive repeatedly in
the right hand and block chords in the left. The dominant right hand melody with
chordal accompaniment in the left is an indicator for style galant. In m. 9 he begins
the transition away from F minor, and arrives at A flat Major in m. 20. As he
introduces new material in mm. 15 19, Beethoven continues to use these qualities.
After the transition comes the secondary theme in m. 20. The secondary theme
displays a legato lyrical ascending pattern with chromatic points, varying drastically
from the much more detached melody in the first primary theme. The secondary
theme starts at pianolike the first theme, but varies its dynamics with forzandos on

American History X Essay

Will racism ever come to an end or will its path go on infinitely? For the most part,
the majority of people respect those who are different either in color, race, and/or
heritage; however, there are those few that hold bigoted views towards people who
are different than they are. The movie American History X by Tony Kaye displaysan
example of people who hold bigoted views. Derek, a Neo Nazi leader, must
contend with his actions relating to his past racist views and actions. This powerful
movie explores its characters thoroughly and gives reasons why people become so
callous and turn towards a racist group. It also exposes insight to problems that

Derek realized that hatred towards people did not help him, his family, or the
situation at hand. Instead of being negative and destructive, why not be positive.
Hurting people and destroying property does not solve problems, but only makes
them worse by causing more resentment and tension between people (Theriou).
Nothing good has ever come out of a situation where one person has been the victim
of a crime or abuse. Good things come out of situations where people show
hospitality, good will, and compassion; not hatred.
It is made very clear that Derek and Danny have no affiliations with the Ku Klux
Klan. Derek calls the KKK a bunch of disorganized rednecks that very inanely run
around with sheets on their heads. Instead they are part of a Neo Nazi group in
Southern California. In America today there are estimated to be about 200,000
members
602 3 associated with white power groups (included in these estimates are
supporters and hard core members plus their families) (Suall). That is a lot of
people who are affiliated with known racist groups. When looking on the Internet a
person can realize how much hate is present in our world. John Hron website has
estimates of Neo Nazis in countries and a little bit about how that country views
Nazism. America has about 85,000 Neo Nazi members compared with 47,000
German Neo Nazis. Germany though has a lot
The Cyscopy Procedures
Cystoscopy
Cystoscopy is a procedure that is used to help diagnose and sometimes treat
conditions that affect that lower urinary tract. The lower urinary tract includes the
bladder and the tube that drains urine from the bladder out of the body (urethra).
Cystoscopy is performed with a thin, tube shaped instrument with a light and camera
at the end (cystoscope). The cystoscope may be hard (rigid) or flexible, depending on
the goal of the procedure. The cystoscope is inserted through the urethra, into the
bladder.
Cystoscopy may be recommended if you have:
Urinary tract infections that keep coming back (recurring).
Blood in the urine (hematuria).
Loss of bladder control (urinary incontinence) or an overactive bladder.
Almost Midnight Journal Entries
11:40. Almost Midnight. I can t believe I somehow managed to take this thing with
me. When the chaos ensued, I thought this poor journal would surely be lost. It
doesn t look like I ve written in here since the day I came to that dark house which I
ve long since put behind me. Soon I will be gone from the shadowlands forever,
after maybe some two more days of riding. Oh Nevada, you poor horse...They tried
to butcher her to kill her, and me as well. Thank God her wounds were not too
deep, else we wouldn t have been able to escape from that terrible place. This doesn
t make any sense, does it? I thought as much. Let me recount to you then, the tale of
the two weeks I spent in the lord s house: Day and night were as one, discriminated
only by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the noblemen caught wind of this however, and sought to chop my horse to
pieces and trap me in their dark manor. Once again, I was helped by manor s
servants who cut the horse free and restrained the assailant so that I could escape.
The poor horse was in a frenzy as we rode, bucking and kicking at anyone and
everything in sight. In all my time riding her, I ve never had such a hard time
hanging on to her. She needed little, if any guidance on my part as she stampeded
down the mountain, foregoing the trail and plunging into shadowed mists
headfirst. We carried on through the wilderness for a very long time before we
were convinced that the danger was long past us, at which point we both collapsed
from fatigue. When I awoke, I mounted Nevada again and started making my way
down the slope again, weaving in and out of thorn bushes and nearly black pine
trees. Wolves and other beasts lurk in the distance around us, but so far we have
encountered no such dangers. I m more concerned with this lord sending his men
after me. As I have described previously, we didn t part on the most ideal terms. He
was furious, that man. He tried to strike me. He tried to slice me to ribbons with his
sword. He tried to shoot me with his gun. That wicked man...as much as I detested
him I cannot help but feel for him and his loss. Everyone s
Norman Mailer Essay
Made famous by the late comedian Flip Wilson, the Devil made me do it, was a
quirky phrase used to pass the blame to the one entity that no one would expect
anything but a mischievous act. This annoying saying became overused to the
point of nausea in the seventies and became synonymous with acts of slapping
girls bottoms or pinching in places better left unmentioned. When handed the list
of book titles and authors to choose from, I immediately went for Norman Mailer. I
had heard of him and some of his antics in the past and quickly decided he was the
one. The author of over forty books and eleven published novels, Mailer is almost
as well known for his public activities and persona. His novel The Castle in the
Forest which the sources... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead this was more an account of apocalyptic fantasy of how the evil mind

agree, this book falls in fiction novel genre. Don t get too excited though if you are
a lover of great fiction unless you have a soft spot for kinky sex, perverted old men
and pubic hair inspirations. The author of one review even goes as far to say that
maybe fiction isn t his real calling after all (Gates 66). Although Mailer was the
winner of a National Book Awardwith Armies of the Night, this book seems more
the flight of the imagination of someone who wants to add to the mystery of the evil
that was Adolf Hitler. Billed as a Hitler family saga, The Castle in the Forest is really
no more than a soft porn version of a vision of how one of the world s most
maniacal men might have been spawned. The book is narrated by a character that s
called D.T. and claims to be part of Himmler s intelligence agency. The agency is
looking into whether or not Hitler is a product of incest. This inquiry comes from the
thought that any superman who embodies the vision is bound to come forth from a
mating of exceptionally similar genetic ingredients (Gates 66). It turns out that D.T.
is actually a devil who has taken over the body of an SS officer. As the story
continues we learn that D.T. and Satan himself are present when little Adolf is
Old Testament Exegetical Paper В– Isaiah 62
The prophet Isaiah lived in the Southern Kingdom of Judah in the 3rd century B.C.
He had a reputation as an uncompromising prophet who did not soften his words of
condemnation and urge to make changes (Stafford 616). The nation of Judah stood
in a precarious position: the wickedness of the people, the civil war which divided
the Israelites into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel, the neighboring countries which
stood by, threatening war and the dilemma that faced the leaders about whether or
not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation of Judah if the
people did not heed his words and change their ways. According to The Interpreter s

Most references to Zion take place in the books of Psalms, Lamentation and Isaiah.
Its first appearance is in 2 Sam 5:6 as the stronghold of Zion . G.A. Barois points
out that it need not be interpreted restrictively as a single building, but rather as the
fortified crest of the hill between the valleysВ… (959). The name В‘Zion has been
suggested by many to designate the entire walled town that covered the southeast
hill of Jerusalem. During the exile however, the whole of Judah came to be known
as Zion. В‘Zion occupies synonymous parallelism with the noun В‘Jerusalem (not
just the southeast hill) while sons of Zion and daughters of Zion implies the
inhabitants of Jerusalem (Lam. 4:2, Isa. 10:32). In 1Kings 8:1,2 we read, В…out
of the City of David which is ZionВ… Hence we can correctly assume that both
refer to the same place, which is Jerusalem. Since my chosen passage is about
В‘Zion , it is good to be sure what exactly is being spoken about.
Now that I ve mentioned Zion the city, I d like to cover another important aspect
concerning cities that s mentioned several times in the BibleВ— watchmen.
According to The NIV Exhaustive Concordance, the word В‘watchmen has been used
13 times in the Old Testament (the singular form, В‘watchman , has been used 16
times). This word is often used figuratively in the Bible, hence it is important to
understand its particular meaning in the passage chosen. В‘Watchmen is mostly

The Importance Of Uniforms In School
In many schools around the United States, multiple females are told that their choice
of clothing is inappropriate and distracting to the male students. In some cases, girls
admit that being told to change or being sent home sometimes lowers their self
esteem, especially when the boys are also breaking dress codebut are not getting in
trouble for it. Girls are told that a boys educationis more important than their own.
Even though most young men will admit they are not distracted by the clothing
girls wear, the excuse, boys will be boys is used to disregard their behavior and are
not punished for their actions. Young women are being sexuallized for the
clothing they wear and are being told they need to cover up for the sake of their
safety, instead of teaching young men to control themselves. As women, we are
told to cover our bodies and not show anything that society says is inappropriate
that could potentially distract a boy. On public school campuses, young girls are
told that even the slightest bit of skin is inappropriate. They are told that their
shoulders, mid thighs and midriffs are considered distracting to a boy s learning
environment. Ellen Friedrichs said in 2014, Any confidence and pride she might
take in her appearance is automatically stripped from her when she is dressed
inappropriately. Young girls are being body shamed for being confident in their own
skin. Over 70% of girls ages 15 to 17 avoid normal daily activities, such as attending

The Mystery Of Mystery Stories
Mystery as a literary genre finds its roots in the writings of the 19th century. During
this century great writers of the literary fiction utilises their brilliance to lay the
foundations of various aspects of the mystery writing. Many fictional characters who
were born in the 19th century, are still the most famous personalities of today s
fiction. It s interesting to note that US President Abraham Lincoln also wrote a
mystery story in the 19th century, based on a real case once he defended(1).
Anton Chekhov (1860 1904) was a Russian physician, writer and playwright,
renowned for his short stories in fact , he is considered among the pioneers of the
short story .It may be surprising to many that he also wrote mystery stories early in
the career under a pseudo name Antosha Chekonte. His book of mystery stories A
Night in the Cemetery : And Other stories of Crime and Suspense contains more than

Aria A Memoir Of A Bilingual Childhood Summary
In Richard Rodriguez s essay, Aria: A Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood, the concept
that language itself does not convey intimacy, it can be used to communicate
intimacy is apparent. Rodriguez conveys this through his repeated distinguishment of
his family, and the public; Spanish speakers, rather, seemed related to me, for I
sensed that we shared through our languagethe experience of feeling apart from los
gringos. This technique of italicizing the words los gringos , as well as writing it
Spanish emphasizes the separateness Rodriguez has with the public. By using this
technique, it also creates a sense of irony in the reader, which effectively
communicates Rodriguez s point. The reader is, in part, experiencing some of
Rodriguez s childhood by giving the reader themselves the idea of otherness
(established by the use of los gringos. ) Rodriguez also uses this sensation to illustrate
that through this otherness of speaking Spanish, he finds intimacy with those in the
same situation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He explains this idea by using subtext; I am speaking with ease in Spanish. I am

Rodriguez describes his experience of hearing his family speak Spanish through
mental subtext. In the quote, a mixture of complete thoughts and fragmented
sentences are used. Rodriguez begins the quote with longer sentences, and then ends
the passage in short fragmented sentences. The progression of the quote goes from
formal to informal fragments. Through this technique, Rodriguez coveys that again,
through his language otherness , he experiences
The Role of Human Resources Department
The role of the human resources department is to maximize its expertise and
knowledge to promote a diverse work environment that values service excellence,
personal well being and professional development. Some of the functions of human
resources are to stay compliant with labor laws, to recruit, hire and train the best
qualified people to do the job. Human resource planning is an important factor of the
human resourcesdepartment. It is the process of forecasting the supply and demand
for human resources within an organization and developing action plans for aligning
the two (Denisi/Griffin, 2008, pg. 98).Organizations analyzes whether they could
function with the same staff or by increasing staff if needed and the planning can
make the difference between success or failure. Job analysis is another important
factor of human resources. This is the process of gathering and organizing detail
information about jobs within an organization so managers can understand the
process to performed most effectively. The job analysis relates to the selection
process, performance appraisal, training, development, and compensation. The
training and development is where the employee learning the job related skills. The
organization facilitate the training to employees to focus on that specific job,
whereas, the development teaches the managers and professionals the skills needed
for both current and future jobs. If an employee is not meeting his job in satisfaction,

Is Gambling Ethical
Gambling
In today s world, there are many different ways to gamble such as casinos, state
lotteries, pull tabs, bingo, sporting events, and the internet, just to name a few.
Although the popularity of this activity remains strong in America, there are
individuals and groups that continue to scrutinize and attack this industry. People
strongly opposed to gambling would like to see it policed by the federal government
or outlawed completely; they are wrong. There are several positive aspects of
gambling aside from providing entertainment and a social interaction. Gambling is
not immoral or unethical. Gambling provides economic benefits including jobs
and reduced government assistance. The gaming industry supports research and
education related to gambling addiction. The percentage of lower income people
who gamble is small; the majorities of people who gamble are those with higher
incomes and can afford to do so. Lastly, gambling has been a part of history and
different cultures dating back to ancient times. In addition, the percentages of
those in favor of gambling are significantly higher than those that are opposed. To
restrict or prohibit gambling is wrong and insulting to adults in today s world. It is
an individual s right to decide if he or she should gamble based on his or her own
personal beliefs. There is a moral component to be considered. Some would argue
that gambling is morally wrong and a threat to public virtue. This is not true, based
on a national
`` The Ecstasy Of Influence `` By Jonathan Allen Lethem
New ideas come from everywhere whether they are from people, places, books,
animals, or even come from something as meaningless as silence; however, we don t
just get new ideas out of the blue, we have to be inspired and influenced by those
elements to create new art. Unlike Plato s Ion, which states that God speaks through
the artists, Lethem s The Ecstasy of Influence: A plagiarism; projects that inspiration
comes from the influence of our surroundings which is the key to creation.
Jonathan Allen Lethem, a modern American essayists, writes the article in which he
talks about how some artists see plagiarism as a wrong doing or stealing. Lethem
disagrees with those artists point of view. He writes, most artists are converted to art
by art itself. Finding one s voice isn t just an emptying and purifying oneself of the
words of others but an adopting and embracing of filiations, communities, and
discourses (Lethem 87). This means that there is an inspiration behind every artist s
work. The inspiration could come from something as simple as expanding another
artists works. It is normal for an artist to be inspired by other artists, and then
invents a work of art that is similar to his/her inspiration. For instance, Lethem gives
an example of how South Park, the TV show, was inspired by Rankin/Bass and
Charlie Brown Christmas specials. Most of the time, plagiarism could lead to a great
work of creativity.
Today, almost all work of art, whether they are movies, books,

5.Describe the key similarities and differences between Spanish and English
Language.
There are many similarities between English and Spanish. Both languages use the
Roman alphabet. This helps ELL s build a phonemic and phonological foundation.
Plus, 30% to 40% of all words in English have a related word in Spanish; with similar
sound, appearance, and meaning, these cognates help students transfer that word
knowledge into their second language. Additionally, when learningto read and write,
both languages uses the same basic processes (phonemic awareness, decoding,
fluency, comprehension, writing mechanics).
Perhaps the greatest difference between English and Spanish is that Spanish has only
five vowel sounds while English has more than 14, depending on regional

Somalia range from piracy, trade, humanitarian issues, broader regional stability and
terrorism, with the principle interest to the U.S since 9/11 being terrorism. With
extremist such as youth militants and Al Shabaab clearly stating their jihadist

fundamental factor that would most likely need to be re evaluated to determine if the
current criteria structure is deemed too extravagant when comparing to other

entrepreneurs. Prime market entry is the final step to either guaranteed success or

Abstract
The complexity of natural history collection information and similar information
within the scope of biodiversity informatics poses significant challenges for effective
long term stewardship of that information in electronic form. This paper discusses the
principles of good relational database design, how to apply those principles in the
practical implementation of databases, and examines how good database design is

This is not to say that database design is not important. Good database design is
vitally important for stewardship of biodiversity information. In the context of limited
resources, good design includes a careful focus on what information is most
important, allowing programming and database administration to best support that
information. Database Life Cycle As natural history collections data have been
captured from paper sources (such as century old handwritten ledgers) and have
accumulated in electronic databases, the natural history museum community has
observed that electronic data need much more upkeep than paper records (e.g.
National Research Council, 2002 p.62 63). Every few years we find that we need to
move our electronic data to some new database system. These migrations are
usually driven by changes imposed upon us by the rapidly changing landscape of
operating systems and software. Maintaining a long obsolete computer running a
long unsupported operating system as the only means we have to work with data
that reside in a long unsupported database program with a custom front end written
in a language that nobody writes code for anymore is not a desirable situation.
Rewriting an entire collections database system from scratch every few years is also
not a desirable situation. The computer science folks who think about databases have
developed a conceptual approach to avoiding getting stuck in such unpleasant
situations the database life cycle
Socratic Dialectic
A friend of Socrates, Chaerephon, asked the Oracle of Delphi if there is anyone
wiser than Socrates. The goddess answered that there is not. (Plato, p. 50). Aware
that he cannot claim wisdom, but intrigued by the Oracle s answer, Socrates
embarks on a journey to find someone who is truly wise. The method he used to
establish someone s wisdom or lack of it has been known as the Socratic dialectic.
Socratesdialectic technique, its aim and its method will be examined in this paper.
The Apology of Socrates by Plato, will be used as a case study to illustrate key points.
Upon hearing the Oracle s answer that no one is wiser than him, Socrates found the
literal interpretation difficult to comprehend. He decided to seek out people who
have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And while his method might appear ruthless and hostile, it was essentially ethical in
character. Belief in a purely objective understanding of such concepts as justice, love,
and virtue, and the self knowledge that he encouraged, were the basis of his teachings.
He believed that all vice is the result of ignorance, and that no person is willingly
bad; correspondingly, virtue is knowledge, and those who know the right will act
rightly. Socrates was not a believer in any specific metaphysical point of view, but
he believed that he was appointed by God to examine himself and others in order to
discover who they really are. Thus, he claimed that the highest goodness consists in
the caring of the soul concerned with moral truth and moral understanding. Wealth
does not bring goodness, but goodness brings wealth and every other blessing, both
to the individual and to the state . (Plato, p 62).
As previously stated, Socrates dialectic aims to determine whether an individual
makes justifiable claims to knowledge by using the method of cross examination in
order to draw out a contradiction or inconsistency in their claims. However, this is not
the only aim of dialectic. The Socratic method is also a means of conversing,
developing a dialogue that aims to bring awareness to person s ignorance of a
subject. It aims to free other from ignorance, encourage them on their path to self
knowledge, assist then in leading good, virtuous life and ultimately

Have you ever had a time in your life where you were struggling with money? And
times just kept getting more and more rough on you? It was a domino effect on your
life, first you don t pay your phone bill and the phone is shut off. Then, your internet
or water bill. Well, that was basically how the Great Depressionhappened, it was all
a domino effect on some families. The Great Depression happened between 1929 and
1939. It started after the stock market crashed in October of the first year. Over many
years, the amount of money that people spent and the investments people made
dropped dramatically. The industrial output and employment as failing companies
laid off workers. 15 million Americans were unemployed and nearly half the country s

Analysis Of The Book Carver Essay
Every story you read has an author behind it now how you interpret that s up to you,
but some authors have a completely different interpretation of their writing. Some
authors hide deep meaning behind their writings that can be difficult to catch.
Authors will use symbolism to tell a different story. A period of their life could
affect the way they write and you can see that as a reader if you pick apart the story.
Raymond Carveris a great example on how a period in his life affected his writing.
Carver was going down a dark path which readers can see the affects of this period
in his life in his writing style. It took Carver some time to find his sense of hope
again, and when he did so did his writing. Carver was known to be a great writer
even according to Stephen King, Carver was considered to be one of the most
influential writing in the 20th century (King). Also, know for being one of the
most important contributors to literature. In his short stories Carver chronicled the
everyday lives and problems of the working poor in the Pacific Northwest. His
blue collar characters are crushed by broken marriages, financial problems, and
failed careers. This short stories mirrored Carver s own life. Carver s stripped down,
minimalist prose style is remarkable for its honesty and power. He is credited with
helping revitalize the genre of the English language short storyin the late 20th
century.Carver dealt with a serious case of alcoholism you can see the change in his
Violation Of Social Norms Paper
Social norms, expected behaviors that are acceptable within society, have
continued to be an important part of peoples everyday lives whether they are
intentional or automatic. The violation of a social norm was studied through field
research, a method used to collect data that occurs outside of the laboratory
(Conley, 2011, pgs. 58 61, 91 92). At Weis, a grocery store in Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania, I attempted to buy one grape from the produce department. I
approached the check out counter and tried to purchase this item. As I did this, I
received many reactions from customers, the cashier, as well as a manager of the
store. There were many different ages and races present, providing me with a variety
of responses. One example is the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the grocery store, I violated the social norm of purchasing the whole bag of
grapes displayed, not just one individual grape. When I did this, I felt awkward
because I was going against societies expectations of me. I also received
repercussions as I violated the norm because I did not fit in and began to separate
myself from the crowd of conformists. I experienced an array of reactions
throughout this incident. The manager was called over, customers were curious
and annoyed, and the cashier became very confused and aggravated. They were
surprised I was breaking the unwritten rules of society. Two different types of
norms include mores and folkways. Mores are formal outlined norms that result in
severe punishment when violated. A few examples of mores are laws, religion,
and plagiarism. Folkway norms are unwritten expected behaviors society holds to
keep it systematic and predictable (Conley, 2011, pgs. 91 92). Examples of
folkway norms include waiting in lines, walking on the right side of the sidewalk,
and my field research study of buying the entire bag of grapes or similar produce,
instead of just one. Different punishments for violating these norms are comprised
of positive and negative sanctions. Positive sanctions, or rewards, encourage the
conformity of social norms. Some examples include getting a raise in your job for
hard work or receiving an A+ on a test for studying. Negative sanctions are the
discouragement or punishment used because of a violation of a social norm.
Examples of this include putting someone in prison or intentionally not speaking to
someone for a period of time. In my field research I experienced a negative sanction
of hearing adverse comments about my actions. Another concept is culture, a set of
beliefs, traditions, and practices that are not a part of the natural world. Two types of
culture are material culture and nonmaterial culture.
Anglo Saxon England
4. Vikings in Anglo Saxon England Scandinavian influence The process of
Christianization and Latin influx was interrupted at the end of the eight century (787)
when the Vikings (Norwegian and Dane tribes) began their ravages over Anglo Saxon
England, sacking monasteries like Lindisfarne and Jarrow (793 794). By the ninth
century, churches and monasteries in Northumbria and Mercia lay in ruins while
settlements in all parts of the country had been plundered and northern towns, such as
York in 867, captured. Anglo Saxon kingdoms were finally overturned while the
Vikings established their own kingdom in the northeast of England(the Danelaw).
Under King Alfred s rule of Wessex (871 899) and despite several conflicts, the
Danish were contained in such area. In turn, the Danish king had to convert to
Christianism, although the moral fibre of the church was seriously disrupted (Baugh
(2005:79). Then Alfred s descendants, Edward the Elder (900 925) and Athelstan (925
939), extended their authority throughout England Athelstan s triumph in 937 in
Brunanburh was crucial, which is recorded in an Old Englishpoem with the same
name. However, invasions were repeated at the end of the tenth century along the
southeast coast, led by the Norwegian and Danish kings, Olaf and Svein respectively,
who attacked London. Svein made himself king, sending the English king Г†thelred
the Unready into exile in Normandy. England was hence ruled by Danish kings from
1014 to 1017, when the Danish

The Geological Impact of Nuclear Testing at the Nevada Test Site
The Nevada Test Site is an area designated by the United States Government for
Nuclear Weapons testing. It is located in rural southern Nevada and is about the size
of the State of Rhode Island. This location was founded in 1952 as one of 5 on land
sites designated for this task. Above ground nuclear or atmospheric testing was
conducted at the Nevada TestSite until 1958. There was a break in testing until the
United States decided to begin underground testing in 1962. There were a total of
828 nuclear tests performed underground during these years. In 1963 a limited

They are both arid environments which makes it easier to reduce the amount of
water runoff. The Nevada Test Site is built on top of a chain of several volcanic and
seismically active locations. Even with these potentially dangerous conditions the
Atomic Energy Commission gave it the go ahead in 1952.
During the years of above ground or atmospheric testing 119 tests were conducted.
The majority of these tests were conducted using helium balloons, and tethered
systems. There were also a few crater tests conducted during this time, these were
conducted by submerging a small nuclear weapon just below the ground surface.
When testing resumed in 1962 the majority of tests were conducted deep
underground, although a few crater tests were still conducted, atmosphere testing
was banned in 1963. Since then all of the testing was performed underground though
this purposed different risks of nuclear contamination it was still found to be over all
safer then the above ground testing. Many tests were conducted to tests response
times for hazmat teams, and other resources for the cleaning up and reconstruction if
such an attack were to take place. These tests were also the cause of much seismic
activity, as well as, social unrest in the area. (Eckel, 1968)

Key Imperatives Of Blue Ocean Strategy

imperatives of a Blue Ocean Strategy? Explain and use examples from the case to

To answer this question, first of all we need to know what is Blue Ocean Strategy,
how it works and what are the main points.
Blue Ocean Strategy what is it?
Blue oceans are uncontested market spaces where the competition is irrelevant... you
invent and capture new demand, and you offer customers a leap in value while also
streamlining your cost. Results? Handsome profits, speedy growth and brand equity
that lasts for decades while rivals scramble to catch up (Mauborgne, 2007).

How was the growth strategy of the Hong Kong Economic Times Group?
In 1980s when the co founders path crossed, Hong Kong`s economy was booming
and opportunities for all trades and businesses were prevalent. The colony was a
magnet for international trade and manufacturing. Real gross domestic product
(GDP) growth throughout the 1980s averaged 5.20%. It was an opportune time for
new businesses, and the HKET Group rode this wave of development (Farhoomand,
2007).
Create and capture new demand
HKET Group published their first paper in January 1988. At this time, their mission
was to provide businessmen, executives, investors and professionals with up to date
and relevant news, market information as well as analysis. Their only competitor at
the time of launch was Hong Kong Economic Journal, which focused in economic
and related news, and was noted for its editorials and commentaries.
HKET Group was more than that, they placed their product in a niche to offer
business and financial information to the growing masses of employees in the

The Man Sat On The Bus
And that was it. Looking into the mirror the question was there. Was I a man? How
could I be? I never had a dad to teach me those categorically masculine things. I
never went hunting. I never worked on a car. I never really enjoyed sports. By no
definition of the standard of manhood did I measure, and I didn t have a father there
to explain to me why I wasn t.
Flashes of punching the mirror, shattering the image there, were common. What
better way to lash out at something than to lash out at yourself. But what good would
it do? It d upset your mom, bother your dad, and hurt your hand to boot. And it
would break a promise.

Respect is the greatest gift children can give to their parents and elders. It is not just
a responsibility to give respect but it is a moral value and duty. In order to get some
respect we should give respect, and parents and elders are the ones who deserve most
of our respect as they help us in making our life meaningful.
Together with many lessons in life, learning to respect people is also one the
important lesson we learn as kids.
Respect can be given in many ways. There is no particular way to respect elders and

Ganesh An Elephant-Headed God In The Hindu Religion
Ganesha: An Elephant Headed Deity Ganesha, the Elephant Headed God, is the
most worshipped god in the Hindu religion most commonly practiced in India. He
represents Wisdom and the distinction between good and bad and is the leader of

Parvatihad created him out of anger when her husband Shivas followers betrayed her
due to their loyalty. Parvati being jealous, created Ganeshafrom the dirt on her body

this and Ganesha would not let Shiva pass through to see Parvati, he sent out an army

Disadvantages Of Account Receivables
Account receivables are used as a type of asset financing to determine the
outstanding invoices or the money owed by the customers. The account
receivables can help finance companies by boosting its cash flows. It focuses on
trying to collect bills from customers. The unpaid invoices are also considered in
the account receivables and referred as bad debts. Bad debts are debts that
customers are not able to pay either because they are bankrupt. In account
receivables financing also known as factoring, gives the company an amount equal
to a reduced value of the unpaid invoices. This type of financing helps the company
to free up the capital that is stuck in unpaid debts. The account receivables financing
companies advances 70 to 90 % of the value of the outstanding invoices, then the
factoring company collect the debts and pays the original company the remainder of
the amount collected minus a fee for the services. This... Show more content on

Asset based lending is an on balance sheet technique and typically comes with
significant fees. Companies commit the majority of their receivables to the program
and have limited flexibility about which receivables are committed. Interest rates on
these loans, as you can imagine, are less than interest rates on an unsecured loan or
line of credit because if the borrower defaults the lender has the ability to seize assets
and attempt to recoup their lending costs. If companies goes bankrupt, companies
that cannot meet their financial obligations can either dissolve or reorganize and start
anew. Federal laws provide bankruptcy protection, govern the right to file and have
jurisdiction over all bankruptcy cases. State laws determine what company assets are
protected in bankruptcy. A bankruptcy filing immediately halts a company s creditors
from debt collection efforts. Collection efforts resume when the bankruptcy court

working in the plant under different names. Now, the human resource specialist
must face, whether the plant should stop hiring temporary illegal workers and run

States. Furthermore, the law prohibits employers to knowingly hire unauthorized
workers. The plant is breaking the law because they are responsible for reviewing,
confirming, and verifying employee s eligibility. The plant needs to use the I 9,
Employment Eligibility Verification, which assist employers in identifying if

High School And Middle School
The junior high school and middle school is basically the same thing. Today we
still have junior high schools but the mostly named that way because of the
historically context. Looking at my notes taken from this year, middle schools span
from 6 th to 8 th grade, the schedule is flexible and block depending on the class.
Teachers have interdisciplinary teams and they work together as a grade level instead
of working on common classes they teach. Lastly in the middle school, everyone is a
team and everyone is working together. I picture it as one team, one heartbeat.
Everyone is working together make the school alive figuratively speaking. To make
sure middle school are developmentally responsive and socially equitable, The
Nation Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform, introduced the award of

recognized. As of now they are seventeen states, including South Carolina, that are
involved with Schools to Watch. According to SCAMLE.org, we have fifteen middle
schools who have been received this award and six middle schools are actively
involved either being new or re designated. By meeting the prestigious requirements,
these selective schools show advanced academically excellence, high developmental
responsiveness, social equity, and organization structures and processes. Teachers
have a tough role because most principals and superintendents worry about testing.

Operational Performance Improvements Of Leveraged
Buyouts
9. OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS
Operational performance improvements in leveraged buyouts comprise measures that
increase
the cash flow of the portfolio company, namely sales growth, margin expansion as
well as working capital.
Leverage buyout can come in different forms such as management buy out,
management buy in, secondary buyout and tertiary buyout.
According to Ashish Jain (2013), A management buyout is a form of acquisition
where a company s existing managers acquire a large part or all of the company from
either the parent company or from the private owners . D. Scott Lee (1992) states,
management buyouts occur when a group of investors, including some managers,

They come from an outside source to improve on the poor management of the
company that is being sold. They normally have it more challenging because they
also have other purchasers trying to purchase the same lucrative business.
The main purpose for management buy in is to create change in management and
leadership to better the company. Change can be good or bad. In my opinion
change is risky because one never knows if their new change would work out
because change comes with challenges and risk. Cheryl Francis Nurse (2003) states,
to reduce risk of failure and of being overwhelmed by the impact of change, the
change effort must be guided by committed and resilient role models, who must plan
strategically if they are to successfully lead the organization .
Therefore, whoever creates and leads the management buy in needs to make sure
that they make full use of their shareholders in order to be successful and they need
to have a team that drives and supports the changes that will be made. However,
anything is subject to failure, so everything depends on the product, place, price and
promotion of the product that you are selling. But should one have good
organizational skills and many heads to lead, then that is when success prevails.
Trehan, R. (2006) defines secondary buyout as a form of leveraged buyout where both
the buyer and the seller are private equity firms or financial

paper medical records and the steps needed to convert the current records to digital
records. A second concern was that the medical staff would have to change their
work habits to adjust to using the electronic medical records and the training that
would be needed to implement the electronic record software. Another concern
would be the various formats of software programs and the ability to complement
each other. The final concern was the security of the electronic records, misuse of
the information or problems accessing the information due to unforeseen
circumstances. As the case stated paper records are cumbersome, bulky and
difficult to access. As you read through the case it does make one think about how
your own medical records are maintained within the doctor s office. As with my
own medical records there was a time that the doctor was looking back through the
actual sheets of paper in my file looking for information how he treated a certain
medical issue that I had experience years prior, because the same issue reappeared
again. It took an extensive amount of my appointment time to search through only
a few years of my medical records to find the notes on that exact appointment. How
easy would it have been to be able to open the laptop, pull up my medical records and
enter a few words in a

A woman called, her mother was scheduled for a class that afternoon but she was
older and had some mobility issues. She wanted to know if she could attend the
class with her mom, not to make an extra piece in the class, just to assist her
mother on the floor. I told her it shouldn t be a problem but I needed to check with
the instructor(Kim) about their being an extra person on the hot shop floor. Kim
okayed it. I called the woman back and told her we d certainly accommodate her so
her mother could complete the class and I d even make an extra name tag for her.
When the class was over the woman thanked me several times, gave Kim a shining
class evaluation and told me it meant so much for her to asisst and watch her mother
enjoy the class. The mother said it truly made her day to do something creative with

  • 2. Beethoven Op-2 Essay In the first movement of Beethoven s Piano Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, op. 2, the composer draws on a variety of stylistic strands that contributed to the evolution of the mature classical style. Through an analysis of specific musical elements, which include references to form and style, structure, harmony, thematic material, dynamics and textural considerations, I will show how Beethoven adheres to the formal and stylistic conventions associated with the sonata during this period, as well as how he asserted his own voice, creating his own Beethovenian style. Beethoven makes use of a multitude of styles throughout the exposition, moving from style galant to Sturm und Drang and ending in empfandsamer. The primary themein mm. 1 8 exemplifies the qualities of style galant. Beethoven uses a two measure long motive repeatedly in the right hand and block chords in the left. The dominant right hand melody with chordal accompaniment in the left is an indicator for style galant. In m. 9 he begins the transition away from F minor, and arrives at A flat Major in m. 20. As he introduces new material in mm. 15 19, Beethoven continues to use these qualities. After the transition comes the secondary theme in m. 20. The secondary theme displays a legato lyrical ascending pattern with chromatic points, varying drastically from the much more detached melody in the first primary theme. The secondary theme starts at pianolike the first theme, but varies its dynamics with forzandos on beat

  • 4. American History X Essay American History X Will racism ever come to an end or will its path go on infinitely? For the most part, the majority of people respect those who are different either in color, race, and/or heritage; however, there are those few that hold bigoted views towards people who are different than they are. The movie American History X by Tony Kaye displaysan example of people who hold bigoted views. Derek, a Neo Nazi leader, must contend with his actions relating to his past racist views and actions. This powerful movie explores its characters thoroughly and gives reasons why people become so callous and turn towards a racist group. It also exposes insight to problems that plague America when it comes to racism in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Derek realized that hatred towards people did not help him, his family, or the situation at hand. Instead of being negative and destructive, why not be positive. Hurting people and destroying property does not solve problems, but only makes them worse by causing more resentment and tension between people (Theriou). Nothing good has ever come out of a situation where one person has been the victim of a crime or abuse. Good things come out of situations where people show hospitality, good will, and compassion; not hatred. It is made very clear that Derek and Danny have no affiliations with the Ku Klux Klan. Derek calls the KKK a bunch of disorganized rednecks that very inanely run around with sheets on their heads. Instead they are part of a Neo Nazi group in Southern California. In America today there are estimated to be about 200,000 members 602 3 associated with white power groups (included in these estimates are supporters and hard core members plus their families) (Suall). That is a lot of people who are affiliated with known racist groups. When looking on the Internet a person can realize how much hate is present in our world. John Hron website has estimates of Neo Nazis in countries and a little bit about how that country views Nazism. America has about 85,000 Neo Nazi members compared with 47,000 German Neo Nazis. Germany though has a lot

  • 6. Almost Midnight Journal Entries 11:40. Almost Midnight. I can t believe I somehow managed to take this thing with me. When the chaos ensued, I thought this poor journal would surely be lost. It doesn t look like I ve written in here since the day I came to that dark house which I ve long since put behind me. Soon I will be gone from the shadowlands forever, after maybe some two more days of riding. Oh Nevada, you poor horse...They tried to butcher her to kill her, and me as well. Thank God her wounds were not too deep, else we wouldn t have been able to escape from that terrible place. This doesn t make any sense, does it? I thought as much. Let me recount to you then, the tale of the two weeks I spent in the lord s house: Day and night were as one, discriminated only by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the noblemen caught wind of this however, and sought to chop my horse to pieces and trap me in their dark manor. Once again, I was helped by manor s servants who cut the horse free and restrained the assailant so that I could escape. The poor horse was in a frenzy as we rode, bucking and kicking at anyone and everything in sight. In all my time riding her, I ve never had such a hard time hanging on to her. She needed little, if any guidance on my part as she stampeded down the mountain, foregoing the trail and plunging into shadowed mists headfirst. We carried on through the wilderness for a very long time before we were convinced that the danger was long past us, at which point we both collapsed from fatigue. When I awoke, I mounted Nevada again and started making my way down the slope again, weaving in and out of thorn bushes and nearly black pine trees. Wolves and other beasts lurk in the distance around us, but so far we have encountered no such dangers. I m more concerned with this lord sending his men after me. As I have described previously, we didn t part on the most ideal terms. He was furious, that man. He tried to strike me. He tried to slice me to ribbons with his sword. He tried to shoot me with his gun. That wicked man...as much as I detested him I cannot help but feel for him and his loss. Everyone s
  • 7. Norman Mailer Essay Made famous by the late comedian Flip Wilson, the Devil made me do it, was a quirky phrase used to pass the blame to the one entity that no one would expect anything but a mischievous act. This annoying saying became overused to the point of nausea in the seventies and became synonymous with acts of slapping girls bottoms or pinching in places better left unmentioned. When handed the list of book titles and authors to choose from, I immediately went for Norman Mailer. I had heard of him and some of his antics in the past and quickly decided he was the one. The author of over forty books and eleven published novels, Mailer is almost as well known for his public activities and persona. His novel The Castle in the Forest which the sources... According to the reviews, and I would agree, this book falls in fiction novel genre. Don t get too excited though if you are a lover of great fiction unless you have a soft spot for kinky sex, perverted old men and pubic hair inspirations. The author of one review even goes as far to say that maybe fiction isn t his real calling after all (Gates 66). Although Mailer was the winner of a National Book Awardwith Armies of the Night, this book seems more the flight of the imagination of someone who wants to add to the mystery of the evil that was Adolf Hitler. Billed as a Hitler family saga, The Castle in the Forest is really no more than a soft porn version of a vision of how one of the world s most maniacal men might have been spawned. The book is narrated by a character that s called D.T. and claims to be part of Himmler s intelligence agency. The agency is looking into whether or not Hitler is a product of incest. This inquiry comes from the thought that any superman who embodies the vision is bound to come forth from a mating of exceptionally similar genetic ingredients (Gates 66). It turns out that D.T. is actually a devil who has taken over the body of an SS officer. As the story continues we learn that D.T. and Satan himself are present when little Adolf is

He had a reputation as an uncompromising prophet who did not soften his words of condemnation and urge to make changes (Stafford 616). The nation of Judah stood in a precarious position: the wickedness of the people, the civil war which divided the Israelites into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel, the neighboring countries which stood by, threatening war and the dilemma that faced the leaders about whether or not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation of Judah if the people did not heed his words and change their ways. Rodriguez conveys this through his repeated distinguishment of his family, and the public; Spanish speakers, rather, seemed related to me, for I sensed that we shared through our languagethe experience of feeling apart from los gringos. This technique of italicizing the words los gringos , as well as writing it Spanish emphasizes the separateness Rodriguez has with the public. By using this technique, it also creates a sense of irony in the reader, which effectively communicates Rodriguez s point. The reader is, in part, experiencing some of Rodriguez s childhood by giving the reader themselves the idea of otherness (established by the use of los gringos. ) Rodriguez also uses this sensation to illustrate that through this otherness of speaking Spanish, he finds intimacy with those in the same situation.... Unlike Plato s Ion, which states that God speaks through the artists, Lethem s The Ecstasy of Influence: A plagiarism; projects that inspiration comes from the influence of our surroundings which is the key to creation. Jonathan Allen Lethem, a modern American essayists, writes the article in which he talks about how some artists see plagiarism as a wrong doing or stealing. Lethem disagrees with those artists point of view. He writes, most artists are converted to art by art itself. Finding one s voice isn t just an emptying and purifying oneself of the words of others but an adopting and embracing of filiations, communities, and discourses (Lethem 87). This means that there is an inspiration behind every artist s work. The inspiration could come from something as simple as expanding another artists works. It is normal for an artist to be inspired by other artists, and then invents a work of art that is similar to his/her inspiration. For instance, Lethem gives an example of how South Park, the TV show, was inspired by Rankin/Bass and Charlie Brown Christmas specials. In the context of limited resources, good design includes a careful focus on what information is most important, allowing programming and database administration to best support that information. Database Life Cycle As natural history collections data have been captured from paper sources (such as century old handwritten ledgers) and have accumulated in electronic databases, the natural history museum community has observed that electronic data need much more upkeep than paper records (e.g. National Research Council, 2002 p.62 63). Every few years we find that we need to move our electronic data to some new database system. Belief in a purely objective understanding of such concepts as justice, love, and virtue, and the self knowledge that he encouraged, were the basis of his teachings. He believed that all vice is the result of ignorance, and that no person is willingly bad; correspondingly, virtue is knowledge, and those who know the right will act rightly. Socrates was not a believer in any specific metaphysical point of view, but he believed that he was appointed by God to examine himself and others in order to discover who they really are. Thus, he claimed that the highest goodness consists in the caring of the soul concerned with moral truth and moral understanding. Wealth does not bring goodness, but goodness brings wealth and every other blessing, both to the individual and to the state . (Plato, p 62). As previously stated, Socrates dialectic aims to determine whether an individual makes justifiable claims to knowledge by using the method of cross examination in order to draw out a contradiction or inconsistency in their claims. However, this is not the only aim of dialectic. The Socratic method is also a means of conversing, developing a dialogue that aims to bring awareness to person s ignorance of a subject. When I did this, I felt awkward because I was going against societies expectations of me. I also received repercussions as I violated the norm because I did not fit in and began to separate myself from the crowd of conformists. I experienced an array of reactions throughout this incident. The manager was called over, customers were curious and annoyed, and the cashier became very confused and aggravated. They were surprised I was breaking the unwritten rules of society. Two different types of norms include mores and folkways. Mores are formal outlined norms that result in severe punishment when violated. A few examples of mores are laws, religion, and plagiarism. Folkway norms are unwritten expected behaviors society holds to keep it systematic and predictable (Conley, 2011, pgs. 91 92). Examples of folkway norms include waiting in lines, walking on the right side of the sidewalk, and my field research study of buying the entire bag of grapes or similar produce, instead of just one. Different punishments for violating these norms are comprised of positive and negative sanctions. Positive sanctions, or rewards, encourage the conformity of social norms. Some examples include getting a raise in your job for hard work or receiving an A+ on a test for studying. Negative sanctions are the discouragement or punishment used because of a violation of a social norm. Examples of this include putting someone in prison or intentionally not speaking to someone for a period of time. In my field research I experienced a negative sanction of hearing adverse comments about my actions. Another concept is culture, a set of beliefs, traditions, and practices that are not a part of the natural world. Two types of culture are material culture and nonmaterial culture.

In my opinion change is risky because one never knows if their new change would work out because change comes with challenges and risk. Cheryl Francis Nurse (2003) states, to reduce risk of failure and of being overwhelmed by the impact of change, the change effort must be guided by committed and resilient role models, who must plan strategically if they are to successfully lead the organization .
