The Major Developments of Early Human and Social Evolution
Describe the major developments of early human and social evolution. Throughout, discuss tool
manufacturing, language development, agriculture, social behavior, and population growth. The first
tools developed during the Paleolithic Era were made from chipped stones, wood and bone, and nets
from plant fibers and animal sinew (Holt, Rinehart, Wilson, n.d.: 2). The Neolithic Era brought forth
greater specialization. People began to make chisels, drills, and saws to address specific needs and
also polished stones to create sharper and more defined points (Holt, Rinehart, Wilson, n.d.: 2).
Language scholars trace the development of the first forms of systematized language to this era: The
crucial evolutionary development that led to the burst in creativity in the Neolithic was the emergence
of human language as a method for integrating across cognitive modules (MacWhinney 2005: 383).
During this era, the use of stones began to have a utilitarian purpose in a manner that showed more
sophisticated thinking. The most significant development during the Neolithic Era was the
development of agriculture. This occurred approximately 10,000 years ago in human history. Humans
began to domesticate animals and engage in selective breeding. With the end of the Ice Age, new
plants became available and were cultivated to provide a more stable food source than hunting and
gathering. Humans began to domesticate plants as well. People had long observed wild plants as they
gathered

Social Media Controversy
Action Essay: Social Media s Influence on Television Social media is the use of websites or
applications that enable users to create or share content. The influence of social media has grown in
the past decade to the extent that some people consider it a source of reliable information. It is taken
from what they heard and shared between family, friends, and strangers. The information that is posted
on social networks are not checked and instead are taken as fact and then are given to someone else as
news. This cycle continues until the truth is no longer known unless accessed by the news. The
problem with this is giving information that even the writer is not sure of, will only lead to confusion
and controversy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social media by itself is not a threat, for it was created for the purpose of entertainment, like
television. Although television also holds the important job of conveying information using the news.
In our current times, social media is the new method of obtaining information quickly about events.
Even though when most people search social media rather than actual news companies, they do not
realize how unreliable it truly is. Twitter especially is credited with playing a role as a source of
credible information. It has evolved far beyond its origin of being a simple way to keep in contact with
friends. In a recent study done by ING, it was shown that one third of journalists said social media
posts are not a reliable source of information. When news of recent events is given on Twitter, it is
called into question because it is unable to be determined how true it is. As stated by Johnson and
Kaye we must rely on the credibility of its user. This proves that social networks are not credible
sources at all and Twitter is a social network so how can it be trusted? Even knowing this, we still
consider consumer opinion to be more reliable than a statement by an organization. If social media
continues to do the job of the news not only will television be affected because of the lack of viewers,
but we the people will no longer know what is actuality or lies. No one likes to be lied to, so why

Mary Shelley s Life
Mary Shelley s Life/Inspirations of Frankenstein Can you guess who was born during the 8th year of
the French Revolution? It was a beautiful young women borned as Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin.
Mary was born on August 30, 1797 in London, England. Mary was the child of Mary Wollstonecraft
and William Godwin. She was later married to a man named Percy Bysshe Shelley. Mary s parents
were both writers which inspired her to later on in her life to write horror novels. Mary Shelley, the
famous author of Frankenstein , used the experience of her hardships in life to create gothic and
memorable novels that still can be appreciated by today s readers. If I was to describe Mary with one
word it would be misfortunate. Ever since birth she has been facing problems after problems. Two
weeks after birth, Mary s mother, Mary Wollstonecraft past away due to a severe fever. Mary
Wollstonecraft was a pioneer in feminist thinking and writing. She was influenced by Thomas Paine
that all women should have equal rights. When Wollstonecraft was younger she witnessed her mom
being verbally and physically abused by her father. Her father referred to her mother as a piece of
property who cannot have the same future as him due to her sex. After her mother s death,
Wollstonecraft decided to make her own livelihood with her sister Eliza and her best friend Fanny.
When Wollstonecraft was 28, she wrote a semi autobiographical novel called Maria which was later
became very famous in London.

Jane Goodall Chimps Psychology
Her methods yielded amazing results, which totally changed the way people viewed chimps. Chimps
can be surprisingly violent, especially considering the stereotype of the gentle, forest dwelling
vegetarians humans had imposed on them. Chimps are not animals to dress in diapers and cute
sunglasses, to use to entertain your friends. They are complex, clever, animals. Her work has
contributed hugely to the general population as well as numerous scientific fields. Evolutionary
psychology is a field which has perhaps particularly benefitted from her work. Because chimps and
modern humans have the most recent last common ancestor compared to humans and the rest of the
animal kingdom, we can learn a lot about how human behavior may have evolved from ... Show more

In order to observe and record the behavior of the chimpanzees at Gombe, she had to introduce herself
and other humans to the wild animals. This inherently changes the behavior of the chimps, and it is
hard to tell exactly how it does so when there is, of course, no close records of chimps with no chimp
human interaction. The chimps grew used to humans, taking food from them, sitting with them, taking
medicine from them, and interacting with them. Although this perhaps cannot be helped, it is certainly
one of the limitations of this work. Goodall also addresses the many critiques she has gotten for giving
the chimpanzees names and attributing emotions to them. This runs the risk of projecting what may in
actuality be a human emotion onto a chimp that may not be feeling anything close to that. In terms of
this limitation, however, I believe the benefits of the methodology outweigh the

Religious Hypocrisy In Molière s Tartuffe
The modern definition of Tartuffe literally means religious hypocrisy. This definition can trace its
roots to the play Tartuffe written by Molière in the 17th century France. During this time the Catholic
church had immense control over the literary content that was being published through regulating
which pieces of work were being released. This power could potentially be used for personal gain and
to highlight this possibility, Molière created his famous play Tartuffe. It was extremely ironic that the
Catholic church immediately censored the play. Infact, this action by the church gave additional
validity to Molière s argument that the church had too much control over the way people lived their
lives through the established church. The crux ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tartuffe initially comes off as a well put together religious man, who has nothing but good intentions
in mind. However, Tartuffe is deviously disguising his harmful intentions through religion in which he
puts on a front of smoke and mirrors hiding the fact that he is, in fact, the opposite of a devout, put
together christian. When Orgon first meets Tartuffe, he has great respect for him simply for the fact
that Orgon believes that Tartuffe is a religious man. Knowing this, Tartuffe believes that he now has
the power to do whatever he wants within Orgon s house. Molière exposes Tartuffe s hypocrisy and
abuse of religious power through the way that Tartuffe communicates throughout the play. The
character Tartuffe does not appear in the play until the third act, once every other character has had the
opportunity to describe their opinion. Molière uses this as a way to expose tartuffe s real character
through the way tartuffe communicates with the other characters. When Tartuffe speaks, he portrays a
very confident superior being to everybody else with almost a divine presence. It fools the society that
tartuffe is targeting and essentially gets what he wants. He also takes religious passages and interprets
them to fit into his

Humans Cause Climate Change Essays
Two thousand scientists, in a hundred countries, engaged in the most elaborate, well organized
scientific collaboration in the history of humankind, have produced long since a consensus that we
will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the
underlying causes of global warming.
Al Gore
Many misinformed people believe that extreme climate change is a natural process; something that
human activities have nothing to do with. They cite events such as the Ice Age and believe that these
events are part of a natural Earth cycling. Therefore, they happen despite anything that humans do. A
common misunderstanding of the climate system characterizes it like a pendulum. The planet will
warm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basic scientific concepts show that this view is naive and incorrect. The forces of the Earth do not
work so that there are equal balances in the temperature chances in the world, so that they average out
to be a comfortable room temperature. For example, the troposphere (the lowest part of
theatmosphere) is warming, but the levels above, from the stratosphere up, are cooling, as less
radiation is escaping out to space. This rules out cycles related to the Sun, as solar influences would
warm the entire atmosphere in a uniform fashion. The only explanation that makes sense is
greenhouse gases (Climatesight 1). Furthermore, it is clear that it is not the whole atmosphere that is
heating up, only the troposphere is. The rest of the atmosphere above that is, in turn, cooling down.
Clearly, the climate change is much more complex than this predicted equilibrium.
This perspective accepts that climate change is happening, it agrees with the data explaining that the
existing climate patterns are extremely abnormal. However it denies the fact that humans cause it as
seeks other blame for it. This model simply states that climate change is a natural process and nothing
to worry about because of the Ice Age. It rejects any idea that human activities and their carbon
footprint could cause these problems. In fact, it argues that the Earth would be experiencing the same
climate changes even if humans did not populate it. However, the scientific data clearly rejects these

Bipolar depression has many different ways of affecting a person it just depends on the side effects
you get from it. Symptoms of bipolar depression could be increased energy, being restless, irritable,
aggressive, fatigue, in denial that anything is wrong, feeling helpless, worthless, and/ or guilty. Those
are only a handful of the symptoms that people might feel if they have bipolar depression. Mental
illnesses are not diseases because they are not a physical illness so they can not be a disease. If we can
not see this so called disease you have then why should we believe it is even there. Just because you
went to the doctor and they said you have a mental illness does not mean that you have a disease.
Cancer is a disease depression and bipolar disorder are not. Since it does not show then how could it

Realism s Effect on Chekhov and Stanislavsky, and their...
Realism played a huge role in the lives of Anton Chekhov and Konstantin Stanislavsky. Both men
made a huge impact on the world of theatre, and results are still seen today. Elements from Chekhov s
plays have influenced playwrights that came after him, like the works of Tennessee Williams, who
listed that Chekhov had a huge impact on his writing. Stanislavsky s acting system, based on acting
truthfully, inspired many other acting systems that are still used today. Realism was a huge movement
in late 1800s to early 1900s. All art forms were influenced by it. Writers, artists, actors and more

Vladimir Nemirovich Danchenko and Konstantin Stanislavsky founded the Moscow Art Theatre on
June 22, 1897, during an 18 hour luncheon at the Slavyanski Bazar (The Stanislavsky Century). The
two had set out to reform Russian theatre and had the common goal in mind to create great art. Before
they set their rules and regulations into place, none officially existed. Actors would show up either
drunk or late and not have their lines learned. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich wanted a place where
there would be discipline and respect and great art, thus the Moscow Art Theatre was born (The
Stanislavsky Century). Konstantin Stanislavsky, himself, also practiced ideas of naturalism. He was a
theatre practitioner and his roles served as actor and director, and he created the first acting method.
He functioned as the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theatre. In A Sourcebook for Naturalist
Theatre, there was a comparative statement to Chekhov and Stanislavsky which read: In addition to
the concept of acting truly , the practical correlative to Chekhov s aim of depicting life as it really is ,
this extract outlines one of the most important keys to Stanislavsky s system: establishing objectives,
which in terms of acting is the equivalent to the naturalists focus on motivation (Innes 54).
Stanislavsky wrote three novels that discuss his acting method; An Actor Prepares, Building a
Character, and Creating a Role. These books are from the perspective of a

Although education is a priority when it comes to policy priorities for West, health related policies are

high medical bills because their insurance does not cover certain procedures and allows them to seek
help from the Texas Department of Insurance so that through mediation the bill can be balanced (New
Law Helps Patients). This shows that there is agreement between the policy goals of TMA and West
since their vision includes improving the health of all Texans which the bill, which is now law, helps
with since Texans have the opportunity to be assisted so that medical bills can be reasonably paid for
(Vision, Mission, and Goals). An additional bill that shows the agreement between the policy goals of
TMA and West is the Texas Senate Bill 344, which has to do with the emergency medical personnel
that is allowed to transport patients to emergency centers and strives to keep patients safe when
experiencing emergencies by declaring who is able to transport them to emergency centers (Texas
SB344). Senator Royce West was endorsed by the Texas Medical Association in 2014. 4. Senator

Reimbursement In Physical Therapy
A smooth process of reimbursement is an integral part of our professional growth. Physical therapy
profession is going through a tough time facing more regulations and scrutiny from
Medicare and other insurance agencies. Apart from advocating healthcare policy changes including
Medicare therapy gap issues, physical therapists should also get prepared to bring in excellent
reputation in the healthcare sector by adhering to the level of outstanding compliance which will
eventually lead to decrease in claim denials and reviews. An article written by Eric Ries, addressing
the biggest threat to physical therapy (2014), emphasized the importance of the better compliance

majority of physical therapists are concerned with reimbursement issues and increasing financial
regulations and not bothered about potential circumstances contusive for fraudulent and abusive
activities in terms of reimbursement. The amount of continuous education hours completed by
physical therapists in documentation training is very less compared to the time spend on acquiring
intervention skills. This makes the situation more vulnerable for physical therapists in making
incorrect decisions and errors in coding and documentation which will have a negative impact on the
total reimbursement of the services provided. Error free documentation is very vital in bringing down
the claim denials and review audits. According to Institute of Medicine (2012), America healthcare

The Marine Corps
[Credibility] Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce Gunnery Sergeant Kristi
Bagley to speak with you about the Montford Point Marines. Gunnery Sergeant Bagley has done
extensive research on the Montford Point Marines, and had the privilege of attending the Montford
Marines Congressional Gold Medal ceremony in June 2012. Ladies and gentlemen, Gunny Sergeant
Bagley.
[Attention] On display at the Montford Point Marine Museum at Camp Johnson, North Carolina is a
Marine Corps dress blues uniform. The uniform is identical to any other set of dress blues worn by
Marines through the mid 1940s. Just like any other set of dress blues, the Marine who wore them went
through a grueling period of training to earn the right to wear this uniform. However, this particular
dress uniform bears a different legacy of hardships and endurance than that of Marines who had come
before.
[Motivation] These blues belonged to Edgar Huff, the first African American to reach the rank of
Sergeant Major in the Marine Corps and one of the first African Americans to be allowed to enlist in
the Marine Corps. Sergeant Major Huff and nearly twenty thousand other African Americans began a
new legacy of service in the United States Marine Corps.

Similarities and Difference of Japan and Western Europe Essay
Similarities and Difference of Japan and Western Europe
Both Japan and Europe were politically similar for many reasons:
Each strove to maintain a centralized government. For Japan the leader was to be called an emperor or
empress who could only be a part of the royal family if they were related to the Shinto sun goddess.
As for Europe, the leader was to be called a king or a queen. Like Japan, not just anybody could
become royalty. Kings and queens came from a long descent of an Imperial family. Tradition was that
the first born son of the king would become the next ruler following the kings death. However, if no
legitimate son were born then the daughter would become queen. In Europe, the royal family and
institution was usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both Japan and Europe the elegance of the royal courts has never been matched to this day.
Great elegance and refinement marked life in Japan and Europe s capitals. In Europe and Japan great
castles were built marking the capital of each separate country. The royal families promoted the arts,
medicine, and science. One of the most memorable of European castles lies just outside of Paris,
France. The Palace of Versailles built by King Louis XIV in the seventeenth century. In Japan
however, the funerals of the emperors and empresses was more memorable. Kofun Mounds were
mounds of earth piled over their ruler s graves. The largest keyhole tomb measured 486m in length,
305m in width, and 33.6m in height. It was provided for Emperor Nintoku.
One of the major differences between Europe and Japan was colonization:
As individual European countries scrambled to gain more territory to add to their Empires, Japan
feared the changes that visiting countries brought. When other countries visited Japan with imports to
trade they also brought with them a new religion, Christianity. Japanese Emperors feared the chaos
that a new religion would bring and decided to shut the rest of the world out. Only the Dutch were
allowed to trade with the Japanese as a need remained to be informed of the rest of the world and
medical advances.

Education Reform Across The World
As with most things in society, there is never one right way to approach an issue, and education
reform across the world is one of the many examples that prove this to be true. Over time, there has
been a growing importance on the quality of education across the globe, which is measured through
standardized testing. This new way to measure the quality of education students are getting has grown
to create high competition among the countries as each strives to obtain the highest ranking country
title. However, not all countries are able to compete, let alone test at all, as they are much less
economically stable and usually have a very poor education system in place. While students in the
United States or China are spending many sleepless nights preparing for one of their many
examinations, children in Ghana or Brazil are struggling to merely find a way to both get an education
and help to support their family. The countries that are a part of the developing world are all very
diverse, however many share similar defining characteristics and face similar problems in their
education system. These nations are typically those that were colonized by western nations and now
suffer extreme economic polarization and political instability as a result. Their economies are often
based on agriculture and the extraction of natural resources, which causes problems as they are
exporting goods of a lower value and importing goods of a higher value. Since all of their focus is on

Essay on Premarital Cohabitation
Premarital Cohabitation is a rapidly growing phenomenon in our society today. Cohabitation is
defined as two people living in the same household who are unrelated, and of the opposite sex (Kunz,
2012). There are many studies that state disadvantages to cohabitating, before marriage, but at the
same time there are many studies stating little to no difference in cohabitating couples and couples
who did not cohabitate before marriage. There are quite of few different types of cohabitation before
marriage that Kunz (2012) lists her book. A very common type is the trail marriage, the opportunity
for couples to test out their compatibility in a long term mindset. This is more typical of college
students and graduates rather than that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Premarital cohabitation has become immensely popular with the younger generations. In 1970 there
were 500,000 cohabitating couples and in 2000 there were 7.5 million and that number is rapidly
growing (Kunz, 2012). Statistics show that nearly two thirds of Americans will most likely cohabitate
with a relationship partner before marriage (Gordon, 2012). Some researchers relate this to the rising
divorce rate in America, coming in at nearly 50 percent of marriages, to cohabitation before marriage.
This concept is called the cohabitation effect. A couple cohabitating before marriage is automatically
associated with a higher risk for divorce. Although there have been studies denying these claims that
cohabitating before marriage has a little effect on marriage stability, they have their exceptions.
Kunz (2012) states that the cohabitation effect isn t as prominent as researchers originally thought. Its
been shown that when a couple cohabitates before marriage, with the intent to marry in the future,
they have equal experiences as a couple who did not cohabitate before marriage. The marriage
stability and health of the couple did not differ. Here s where the studies and statistics that prove
higher divorce rates and poor health come in. These conditions are found in couples who cohabitate
before marriage with no intent to become married in the future. These types of cohabitating
relationships relate to negative communication between

The And The Doctrine Of Salvation
Soteriology or the Doctrine of Salvation is perhaps the grandest and greatest them in Scripture. If we
look at our world it s easy to see man s condition in sin. Mankind is completely helpless when the
message of salvation is ignored. Our world remains shattered and town by the condition of sin, but
God s gracious rescue plan through salvation and Jesus Christ will redeem us all and provide a
solution to man s problems. () This union with Christ is called the magical exchange in which Christ
assumes our debts and we inherit his wealth so that nothing (Horton pg.271) will be able to separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ro 8:39) (Horton pg. 323 324) Let s visit the different
layers of salvation.
In our textbook, Horton starts with the blessing of Justification. God justifies the wicked. Justification
is a legal act, wherein God deems the sinner righteous on the basis of Christ s righteousness. Horton
tells us on pg. 280, God justifies the wicked not those who have done their best yet have fallen short,
those who might at least be judged acceptable because of the sincerity, but those who, at the very
moment of being pronounced righteous, are in themselves unrighteous. This means full repentance,
which is defined as such, as a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God. And the
relinquishment of any practice from the conviction that has offended God. When we accept salvation
we are also testifying to God that we are a changed person from

behind sound and of professional sound recordist would be key, anything from microphone techniques
to personal safety would need to be taken into account on the recording side, whereas an
understanding of the software and tools within it would be needed for the sequencing.
Throughout history sound has been used to help convey a story. As early as the 1900 s, without today s

recorded at the right level as it will be the loudest part of the sequence. When recording vocals I set up
the microphone appropriately, this meant positioning the microphone at roughly the same height as my
chin. The microphone also needed to be close to my mouth, if I was too far away it wouldn t be loud
enough meaning the volume would have to be amplified which would also amplify all the unwanted
noises around. A pop filter was also used, I simply moved it into the correct position before saying my
lines. A pop filter is used to stop the popping noise that can be accompanied by saying certain letters
such as p. Once the microphone was set up the lines were recorded, this was helped by having a TV
playing the video so I could get my timings perfected. One issue that did occur was putting the
emotion into certain sections, I found this hard at first as the recordings came out stale with no feeling.
To fix this I redid the dialog a few times and tried to treat it more as acting than speaking. The final
sections of dialog came out much better than the previous but there is still clear room for improvement

Alcohol Abuse And Alcoholism Abuse
The alcohol abuse definition is similar to alcoholism in that in both cases alcohol is causing harm to
the drinker s life and those around them. The difference is that those who abuse alcohol, but are not
yet alcoholics, typically can put some limitations on their drinking and they have not yet become
physically addicted to alcohol. The key to the alcohol abuse definition is not in the amount of alcohol
consumed but on how it affects an individual. Alcohol abuse is a psychiatric diagnosis in which there
is recurring harmful use of ethanol despite its negative consequence. In 2013 it was reclassified as
alcohol use disorder along with alcohol dependence. There are two types of alcohol abuse, those who

connection to parents, other family members, or school may be at an increased risk for alcohol abuse.
Before you seek treatment the first and most important part of the process is that of admitting that you
have a problem. Once you have done so then the next step is help and support. Beating an alcohol
addiction is a long and painful process. It requires much more than sheer willpower: it requires you to
make changes to every aspect of your life and some of that can be more difficult to do than others. But
help and support is available so you don t need to do this on your own. Treatments for alcohol
addiction are quite varied because there are multiple perspectives for the condition itself. Those who
approach alcoholism as a medical condition or disease recommend differing treatments than, for
instance, those who approach the condition as one of social choice. Most treatments focus on helping
people discontinue their alcohol intake,

Theme Of Hyperreality In The Crying Of Lot 49
Introduction
Thomas Ruggles Pynchon, Jr. (b. 1937) who was awarded the US National Book Award for Fiction in
1974 for his most renowned novel Gravity Rainbow (1973) is mostly famous for such complicated
novels as V (1963), The Crying of Lot 49 (1966) and Mason Dixon (1977). While writing The Crying
of Lot 49, he was deeply distressed by the irreversible losses of World War II, the probability of
nuclear explosions, and role of the mass media; consequently he repeatedly presents the motifs of loss,
chaos, and entropy in his novel.
Pynchon is the author of seven novels, V (1963), The Crying of A lot 49 (1966), Gravity Rainbow
(1973), Vineland (1990), Mason and Dixon (1997), Against the Day (2006), andInherent Vic (2009).

Are the speculative nature, parodic playfulness and bookishness of the novels mere form diversions,

and what consequences do it exposure in character worldview? Are there any structures or are they

Simulation:With the advent of realistic media (photography, film, sound recording, TV, digital media)
it has also come to refer to an audio visual experience that artfully mimics but otherwise has no

indistinguishable from what it copies, but in which the very distinction between copy and original

Why I Am A Scientist
Live the life you ve imagined , wrote on cover page of my notebook gave by my mentor Dr. Xu. When
I was six, I witnessed my aunt suffering from serious rheumatoid arthritis and nobody even know why
it happened. I imagined one day I can be a scientist to find out the causes for all those brutal diseases
and fight against them. This compass navigates my career path and leads me to where I am right now,
a biology student in University of Kansas. My professional journey started at 2007, my freshman year
in Wuhan University, a top ranked biology program in China. I and my teammates were catching
turbellarian all over the campus trying to find out the secrets of tissue regeneration. After that, I
initiated a project to isolate bacteria strains from soil to reduce phosphorus in water and prohibit blue
algae caused by pesticide in river and lake, which got me funded by WU undergraduate research fund
in 2008. These small adventures helped me to explore my capabilities and build confidence about
doing research. However I also realized that to make a difference in human health, passion is one
hand, knowledge is the other. To better prepare myself for a future in biology scientific research, I
joined Dr. Guo s lab in WU which focused on human skeletal development in 2009 and quickly found
the question that I care about and willing to answer: how cancer happened? Specifically, I was
interested in studying gene post transcriptional regulation networks in cancer. I chose to study

Snow White By The Brothers Grimm
Snow White The story of Snow White is a cautionary tale that has been written by many. Each time it
has been told, the authors had a different interpretation of how it should be. The two variations that I
will be focusing on are The Brothers Grimm s story and Walt Disney s film. Although the fairytales
are written and filmed by different authors, they share a common theme and two symbols. The theme
that is present in both Grimm s and Disney s versions is that evil will always be punished. The
symbols that are in both tales include the concept of beauty and the red poisonous apple. The Brothers
Grimm wrote a few versions of Snow White, but the one I will be referring to be Snow White. I will
be comparing this story to the film of Walt Disney titled Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. These
two variations have a great deal in common including being about Snow White, but they both tell her
story a bit differently. I will point out a few of these differences. In Grimm s version, the Queen visits
the dwarf s house three times. Each time she comes, she leaves with Snow to be looking presumably
dead. The Queen harms her first with a tightly laced corset; second with a poisonous comb she
brushes her hair with and last with a red piece of a poisonous apple. In Disney s film, a red apple
poisons Snow once in the attempt by the evil Queen to take her life. In the Grimm s Snow White, the
kiss of the Prince does not awaken her like in Disney s film, but instead the Prince s men drop her

The Great Depression And Harsh Weather Conditions During...
The United States experienced both the Great Depression and harsh weather conditions during the
1930 s causing Americans to suffer through extreme hardship and impoverishment. Many of the
migrant farmers were bankrupt, destitute, and struggled to survive. Photographer and photojournalist,
Dorothea Lange, captured the dangerous conditions migrant workers and their families endured
through her photograph, Migrant Mother. The photograph not only displays a woman and children
suffering, but also reveals the determination and willpower the woman had to provide for her family.
When initially looking at the iconic black and white photo, one sees a woman and two children. After
closely examining the image, one sees the third child, an infant, being held by the woman. The woman
is not looking directly at the camera, but the audience is able to see her gaze. The woman s eyebrows
are furrowed causing her face to appear as worried with a look of desperation. Looking more
meticulously at the woman, one will notice that she has a slight frown. The woman is able to show her
stress by using her right hand to pull down slightly on her face. Aside from the woman, there are three
children in the photograph. Two of the children are facing away from the camera with their heads
rested on the woman s shoulder. The third child is an infant who seems to be sleeping while this
photograph was taken. The woman and children in the photo are migrants that are trying to survive the

The Evolution And Relevance Of Immigration
The Evolution of Immigration:
The evolution and relevance of Immigration in the United States.
Another way of indicating the importance of immigration to America is to point out that every
American who ever lived, with the exception of one group, was an immigrant himself or a descendent
of immigrants, (Kennedy, 2). The United States is a nation of immigrants. There are, however, many
Americans who are not accepting of the fact that immigrants were the reason why this country is able
to have a population, economy and democracy. To ignore immigrants, is to ignore our history and how
America is the way it is now. The immigrant culture of America is relevant to not only every
individual US citizen, but also every person living across seas. World War Two is one of the most
important turning points regarding immigration into the U.S., Kennedy embodies the American story
when he says, To know America, then, it is necessary to understand this peculiar American social
revolution. It is necessary to know why over 42 million people gave up their settled lives to start anew
in a strange land. (Kennedy, 3). This quote is representative of how the country began, and how the
immigrants of that time had a desire to enunciate the Declaration of Independence. The outcome was
successful in the U.S. in many ways: Between the time frame of 1770 to 1820 came federal and state
governments, a prosperous economy, and a population that grew from 2 million to 9 million. This

C Sole Industry Analysis
Ace Athletics has prioritized the high end segment of the footwear industry since the beginning. We
feel that being an industry leading in quality and technology is our best chance at building and
sustaining our long term plans. There are several reasons for our stance on the industry, but the most
obvious being is S/Q rating. As the industry leading in S/Q rating us as well as C Sole have been able
to consistently beat the market and develop into our closest competitor. Another reason we feel that
the high end of the spectrum offers the most opportunity and profitability is the differentiation what

greatest strength is their ability to maintain a high S/Q rating in every market. That strategy has
worked well for them, but has shown potential to be damaged by our recent ability to offer better
prices and retail support. In the past several years Ace Athletics has positioned ourself to take over
large portions of the markets away from C Sole. The opportunity for Ace Athletics has never been

quality of the industry. This result is from heavy investments in our employees trainings and large
plant and capacity upgrades. Customers are clearly concerned with the quality they are paying for, and
it has been one of our goals to meet that demand. Going forward we are looking to revolutionizing the
footwear industry and building upon our relationships with our investors, employees, vendors, and
customers to take full advantage of the global shoe

Examples Of Magical Realism In Midnight s Children
Reality; Never As Straight forward As it Appears (Rubsinson, 33 34)
Salman Rushdie s Midnight s Children invites readers to dive into the recent history of modern and
postcolonial India. The story is told by the narrator and protagonist, Saleem Sinai, who can be seen as
an allegory for India. Born at midnight 15 August 1947, when India gained its independence from the
British rule, Saleem believes that he is handcuffed to history (Rushdie, 6). From Saleems perspective,
what happens to him, happens to the country (Rubinson, 33). Rushdie, in this way, uses a mix of
fantasy and realism to connect Saleems destiny to the destiny of the country. The mix is best described
as the genre magical realism: Magical realism is a combination of realism ... Show more content on

After the partition, the state of Kashmir happened to share borders with both Pakistan and India. Since
Kashmir had a Hindu leader but a predominantly Muslim population, a conflict was inevitable. The
struggle of which nation would incorporate the state led eventually to the first India Pakistan War in
1947. The war ended in 1948 with UN interference, Kashmir joined the Republic of India, while the
Pakistani Government continued to believe that the Muslim state belonged to Pakistan (The Office
Historian). Saleem claims that the war, which resumed in 1965, occurred for two reasons: because I
dreamed Kashmir into the fantasies of our rules; furthermore, [because] I remained impure, and
therefore the war was to separate me from my sins. (Rushdie, 399) Saleem dreams about Kashmir as
the idyllic Garden of Eden; his family history stems from Kashmir (Bounse, 14). Since the war had
started, Saleem feels disconnected to Kashmir: in our house, we were infected with the alienness of
Kashmiri blood. (Rushdie 101) The dreams reflect the nostalgic and feelings of desire for Kashmir of
both Pakistan and India. Saleem claims that his entire family dies during the war of 1965 in order to
purify the nation and himself. The shocking claim represents the absurdity of Pakistan to break the

Analysis of Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes Essay
Dream Deferred
A dream is a goal in life, not just dreams experienced during sleep. Most people use their dreams as a
way of setting future goals for themselves. Dreams can help to assist people in getting further in life
because it becomes a personal accomplishment. Langston Hughes s poem Dream Deferred is speaks
about what happens to dreams when they are put on hold. The poem leaves it up to the reader to
decide what dream is being questioned.
In the opening of the poem the speaker uses a visual image that is also a simile to compare a dream
deferred to a raisin. Does it dry up/ like a raisin in the sun? The simile in the question is comparing a
dream deferred to raisin in the sun. Like a raisin, a dream deferred shrivels up ... Show more content

As you read further into the poem it allows you to develop a clearer understanding of what Hughes is
trying to express in the poem. It is stated that the dream may crust and sugar over like a syrupy
sweet? He is stating that by not using or putting the dream into use had formed into crust, which is that
hard material that is no longer useful because it is no longer pliable. The dream forced to sit idle
hardens into an unusable substance of thoughts that have separated themselves from the goals and
formed idle destructive thoughts that are crusted over with despair, doubt, anger, and hatred.
Langston Hughes s poem Dream Deferred is basically about what happens to dreams when they are
put on hold. Hughes probably intended for the poem to focus on the dreams of African American in
particular. However, it is just as easy to read the poem as being about dreams in general and what
happens when people postpone making them come true. What I got from the poem was that the longer
you put your dreams on hold, the more the dreams will change and the less likely they will come true.

The Veldt By Ray Bradbury Analysis
Competing, as humans we compete so much throughout our lives, it s what makes us human. We even
try so hard that we distance ourselves from others. Ray Bradbury shows us in his two stories, The
Veldt and Marionettes, Inc. that there is something we can t contend with; technology. In these stories
the author shows us a world where people are distant because of and can t compete with technology.
In Ray Bradbury s short story The Veldt he shows us a family that is so distant from each other
because of technology. The Hadley family lives in a Happylife Home that does everything for them
and the children depend on their nursery that has raised them their entire lives. Mr. David McClean
comments to Mr. Hadley, You ve let this room and this house replace you and your wife in your
children s affections. This room is their mother and father, far more important in their lives than real
parents ( The Veldt 10). Children Wendy and Peter live in their own personal bubble because they don
t have to rely on their parents for anything. The children rely so much on their nursery that it has
replaced and made them so distant from their own parents. Technology has become the children s
parents; their role model. The nursery has caused the family to become distant, but it s more than that,
it s the entire house. Bradbury adds, And he marched around the house turning off the voice clocks,
the stoves, the heaters, the shoe shiners, the shoe lacers, the body scrubbers and swabbers

Cancer is a term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to

the cancer can still be cured but when the cancer reaches stages three or four, the possibility of curing
the disease is low. Cancer can be treated naturally through herbal medicinal remedies and through the
use of ionizing radiation under chemotherapy. Although chemotherapy can be beneficial in terms of

When tornadoes do form; such places as the National Weather Service (2014) classify tornadoes into
three categories. These categories are weak, strong, and violent.
Gave the knowledge of what to look for, this can help save lives and keep loved ones safe but what if
someone is unsure of what to look for; well the news channels do provide tornado watches and

A tornado watch when issued is just a reminder that the weather does have the potential to produce a
tornado and that caution should be used when traveling and doing outdoor activities. However, when a
tornado warning is issued this is a warning to take cover in a cellar, basement or other safe places;
away from windows and other places where one may be harmed. With the basic knowledge of what

was our very own Gary England from Seiling, Oklahoma that helped keep the lives of Oklahomans

issuing tornado warnings before the national weather service did so, with new technology formed;

Cisneros Representation Of Identity Formation Of...
Literature is a vehicle for personal growth that can produce learning, ethnic validation, and empathy,
which encourages solidarity among different communities (Vasquez 2005). Despite the growing
amount of research on migration, few studies focus on their sociocultural wealth and creative
production of migrants (Simich et al 2009; Litwick 2010; Chavez 2013). Conscious of this trend, I
study the representation of identity formation of migrants in both fictional and nonfictional works as
represented by two Latinas and transnational authors, whose identities are deeply rooted in the story of
migration between Mexico and the U.S. In addition, Humanities has traditionally studied immigrants
identities from the concept of assimilation, when assimilation does not reflect the diversity and
complexities of migrant groups. To reach a more comprehensive understanding of the subjectivity of
migrants identities of and of their identity formation, I applied the anthropological theoretical
framework of liminality.

One reason that leads to growth in the waiting list was an inadequate supply of deceased donor organs.

The person has to agree to donate before he/she died.
Outcomes are better with organs obtained from live donors compared with organs from brain dead

  • 2. The Major Developments of Early Human and Social Evolution Describe the major developments of early human and social evolution. Throughout, discuss tool manufacturing, language development, agriculture, social behavior, and population growth. The first tools developed during the Paleolithic Era were made from chipped stones, wood and bone, and nets from plant fibers and animal sinew (Holt, Rinehart, Wilson, n.d.: 2). The Neolithic Era brought forth greater specialization. People began to make chisels, drills, and saws to address specific needs and also polished stones to create sharper and more defined points (Holt, Rinehart, Wilson, n.d.: 2). Language scholars trace the development of the first forms of systematized language to this era: The crucial evolutionary development that led to the burst in creativity in the Neolithic was the emergence of human language as a method for integrating across cognitive modules (MacWhinney 2005: 383). During this era, the use of stones began to have a utilitarian purpose in a manner that showed more sophisticated thinking. The most significant development during the Neolithic Era was the development of agriculture. This occurred approximately 10,000 years ago in human history. Humans began to domesticate animals and engage in selective breeding. With the end of the Ice Age, new plants became available and were cultivated to provide a more stable food source than hunting and gathering. Humans began to domesticate plants as well. People had long observed wild plants as they gathered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Media Controversy Action Essay: Social Media s Influence on Television Social media is the use of websites or applications that enable users to create or share content. The influence of social media has grown in the past decade to the extent that some people consider it a source of reliable information. It is taken from what they heard and shared between family, friends, and strangers. The information that is posted on social networks are not checked and instead are taken as fact and then are given to someone else as news. This cycle continues until the truth is no longer known unless accessed by the news. The problem with this is giving information that even the writer is not sure of, will only lead to confusion and controversy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Social media by itself is not a threat, for it was created for the purpose of entertainment, like television. Although television also holds the important job of conveying information using the news. In our current times, social media is the new method of obtaining information quickly about events. Even though when most people search social media rather than actual news companies, they do not realize how unreliable it truly is. Twitter especially is credited with playing a role as a source of credible information. It has evolved far beyond its origin of being a simple way to keep in contact with friends. In a recent study done by ING, it was shown that one third of journalists said social media posts are not a reliable source of information. When news of recent events is given on Twitter, it is called into question because it is unable to be determined how true it is. As stated by Johnson and Kaye we must rely on the credibility of its user. This proves that social networks are not credible sources at all and Twitter is a social network so how can it be trusted? Even knowing this, we still consider consumer opinion to be more reliable than a statement by an organization. If social media continues to do the job of the news not only will television be affected because of the lack of viewers, but we the people will no longer know what is actuality or lies. No one likes to be lied to, so why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mary Shelley s Life Mary Shelley s Life/Inspirations of Frankenstein Can you guess who was born during the 8th year of the French Revolution? It was a beautiful young women borned as Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin. Mary was born on August 30, 1797 in London, England. Mary was the child of Mary Wollstonecraft and William Godwin. She was later married to a man named Percy Bysshe Shelley. Mary s parents were both writers which inspired her to later on in her life to write horror novels. Mary Shelley, the famous author of Frankenstein , used the experience of her hardships in life to create gothic and memorable novels that still can be appreciated by today s readers. If I was to describe Mary with one word it would be misfortunate. Ever since birth she has been facing problems after problems. Two weeks after birth, Mary s mother, Mary Wollstonecraft past away due to a severe fever. Mary Wollstonecraft was a pioneer in feminist thinking and writing. She was influenced by Thomas Paine that all women should have equal rights. When Wollstonecraft was younger she witnessed her mom being verbally and physically abused by her father. • 5. Jane Goodall Chimps Psychology Her methods yielded amazing results, which totally changed the way people viewed chimps. Chimps can be surprisingly violent, especially considering the stereotype of the gentle, forest dwelling vegetarians humans had imposed on them. Chimps are not animals to dress in diapers and cute sunglasses, to use to entertain your friends. They are complex, clever, animals. Her work has contributed hugely to the general population as well as numerous scientific fields. Evolutionary psychology is a field which has perhaps particularly benefitted from her work. Because chimps and modern humans have the most recent last common ancestor compared to humans and the rest of the animal kingdom, we can learn a lot about how human behavior may have evolved from ... This inherently changes the behavior of the chimps, and it is hard to tell exactly how it does so when there is, of course, no close records of chimps with no chimp human interaction. The chimps grew used to humans, taking food from them, sitting with them, taking medicine from them, and interacting with them. Although this perhaps cannot be helped, it is certainly one of the limitations of this work. Goodall also addresses the many critiques she has gotten for giving the chimpanzees names and attributing emotions to them. This runs the risk of projecting what may in actuality be a human emotion onto a chimp that may not be feeling anything close to that. • 6. Religious Hypocrisy In Molière s Tartuffe The modern definition of Tartuffe literally means religious hypocrisy. This definition can trace its roots to the play Tartuffe written by Molière in the 17th century France. During this time the Catholic church had immense control over the literary content that was being published through regulating which pieces of work were being released. This power could potentially be used for personal gain and to highlight this possibility, Molière created his famous play Tartuffe. It was extremely ironic that the Catholic church immediately censored the play. Infact, this action by the church gave additional validity to Molière s argument that the church had too much control over the way people lived their lives through the established church. The crux ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tartuffe initially comes off as a well put together religious man, who has nothing but good intentions in mind. However, Tartuffe is deviously disguising his harmful intentions through religion in which he puts on a front of smoke and mirrors hiding the fact that he is, in fact, the opposite of a devout, put together christian. When Orgon first meets Tartuffe, he has great respect for him simply for the fact that Orgon believes that Tartuffe is a religious man. Knowing this, Tartuffe believes that he now has the power to do whatever he wants within Orgon s house. Molière exposes Tartuffe s hypocrisy and abuse of religious power through the way that Tartuffe communicates throughout the play. The character Tartuffe does not appear in the play until the third act, once every other character has had the opportunity to describe their opinion. Molière uses this as a way to expose tartuffe s real character through the way tartuffe communicates with the other characters. When Tartuffe speaks, he portrays a very confident superior being to everybody else with almost a divine presence. It fools the society that tartuffe is targeting and essentially gets what he wants. • 7. Humans Cause Climate Change Essays Two thousand scientists, in a hundred countries, engaged in the most elaborate, well organized scientific collaboration in the history of humankind, have produced long since a consensus that we will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the underlying causes of global warming. Al Gore Many misinformed people believe that extreme climate change is a natural process; something that human activities have nothing to do with. They cite events such as the Ice Age and believe that these events are part of a natural Earth cycling. Therefore, they happen despite anything that humans do. A common misunderstanding of the climate system characterizes it like a pendulum. The planet will warm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Basic scientific concepts show that this view is naive and incorrect. The forces of the Earth do not work so that there are equal balances in the temperature chances in the world, so that they average out to be a comfortable room temperature. For example, the troposphere (the lowest part of theatmosphere) is warming, but the levels above, from the stratosphere up, are cooling, as less radiation is escaping out to space. This rules out cycles related to the Sun, as solar influences would warm the entire atmosphere in a uniform fashion. The only explanation that makes sense is greenhouse gases (Climatesight 1). Furthermore, it is clear that it is not the whole atmosphere that is heating up, only the troposphere is. The rest of the atmosphere above that is, in turn, cooling down. Clearly, the climate change is much more complex than this predicted equilibrium. This perspective accepts that climate change is happening, it agrees with the data explaining that the existing climate patterns are extremely abnormal. However it denies the fact that humans cause it as seeks other blame for it. This model simply states that climate change is a natural process and nothing to worry about because of the Ice Age. It rejects any idea that human activities and their carbon footprint could cause these problems. In fact, it argues that the Earth would be experiencing the same climate changes even if humans did not populate it. However, the scientific data clearly rejects these ... This new way to measure the quality of education students are getting has grown to create high competition among the countries as each strives to obtain the highest ranking country title. However, not all countries are able to compete, let alone test at all, as they are much less economically stable and usually have a very poor education system in place. Statistics show that nearly two thirds of Americans will most likely cohabitate with a relationship partner before marriage (Gordon, 2012). Some researchers relate this to the rising divorce rate in America, coming in at nearly 50 percent of marriages, to cohabitation before marriage. This concept is called the cohabitation effect. The United States experienced both the Great Depression and harsh weather conditions during the 1930 s causing Americans to suffer through extreme hardship and impoverishment. Many of the migrant farmers were bankrupt, destitute, and struggled to survive. Photographer and photojournalist, Dorothea Lange, captured the dangerous conditions migrant workers and their families endured through her photograph, Migrant Mother. The photograph not only displays a woman and children suffering, but also reveals the determination and willpower the woman had to provide for her family. When initially looking at the iconic black and white photo, one sees a woman and two children. After closely examining the image, one sees the third child, an infant, being held by the woman. The woman is not looking directly at the camera, but the audience is able to see her gaze. The woman s eyebrows are furrowed causing her face to appear as worried with a look of desperation. Looking more meticulously at the woman, one will notice that she has a slight frown. • 26. The Evolution And Relevance Of Immigration The Evolution of Immigration: The evolution and relevance of Immigration in the United States. Another way of indicating the importance of immigration to America is to point out that every American who ever lived, with the exception of one group, was an immigrant himself or a descendent of immigrants, (Kennedy, 2). The United States is a nation of immigrants. There are, however, many Americans who are not accepting of the fact that immigrants were the reason why this country is able to have a population, economy and democracy. To ignore immigrants, is to ignore our history and how America is the way it is now. The immigrant culture of America is relevant to not only every individual US citizen, but also every person living across seas. World War Two is one of the most important turning points regarding immigration into the U.S., Kennedy embodies the American story when he says, To know America, then, it is necessary to understand this peculiar American social revolution. It is necessary to know why over 42 million people gave up their settled lives to start anew in a strange land. (Kennedy, 3). This quote is representative of how the country began, and how the immigrants of that time had a desire to enunciate the Declaration of Independence. The outcome was successful in the U.S. in many ways: Between the time frame of 1770 to 1820 came federal and state governments, a prosperous economy, and a population that grew from 2 million to 9 million. The story is told by the narrator and protagonist, Saleem Sinai, who can be seen as an allegory for India. Born at midnight 15 August 1947, when India gained its independence from the British rule, Saleem believes that he is handcuffed to history (Rushdie, 6). From Saleems perspective, what happens to him, happens to the country (Rubinson, 33). Rushdie, in this way, uses a mix of fantasy and realism to connect Saleems destiny to the destiny of the country. Most people use their dreams as a way of setting future goals for themselves. Dreams can help to assist people in getting further in life because it becomes a personal accomplishment. Langston Hughes s poem Dream Deferred is speaks about what happens to dreams when they are put on hold. The poem leaves it up to the reader to decide what dream is being questioned. In the opening of the poem the speaker uses a visual image that is also a simile to compare a dream deferred to a raisin. Does it dry up/ like a raisin in the sun? As you read further into the poem it allows you to develop a clearer understanding of what Hughes is trying to express in the poem. It is stated that the dream may crust and sugar over like a syrupy sweet? He is stating that by not using or putting the dream into use had formed into crust, which is that hard material that is no longer useful because it is no longer pliable. The dream forced to sit idle hardens into an unusable substance of thoughts that have separated themselves from the goals and formed idle destructive thoughts that are crusted over with despair, doubt, anger, and hatred. Langston Hughes s poem Dream Deferred is basically about what happens to dreams when they are put on hold. Hughes probably intended for the poem to focus on the dreams of African American in particular. However, it is just as easy to read the poem as being about dreams in general and what happens when people postpone making them come true. What I got from the poem was that the longer you put your dreams on hold, the more the dreams will change and the less likely they will come true. Bibliography: Barksdale, Richard. Ray Bradbury shows us in his two stories, The Veldt and Marionettes, Inc. that there is something we can t contend with; technology. In these stories the author shows us a world where people are distant because of and can t compete with technology. In Ray Bradbury s short story The Veldt he shows us a family that is so distant from each other because of technology. The Hadley family lives in a Happylife Home that does everything for them and the children depend on their nursery that has raised them their entire lives. Mr. David McClean comments to Mr. Hadley, You ve let this room and this house replace you and your wife in your children s affections. This room is their mother and father, far more important in their lives than real parents ( The Veldt 10). Children Wendy and Peter live in their own personal bubble because they don t have to rely on their parents for anything. The children rely so much on their nursery that it has replaced and made them so distant from their own parents. Technology has become the children s parents; their role model. The nursery has caused the family to become distant, but it s more than that, it s the entire house. Bradbury adds, And he marched around the house turning off the voice clocks, the stoves, the heaters, the shoe shiners, the shoe lacers, the body scrubbers and swabbers ...
