The Mistreatment Of Left-Handeded People
When you hear the word sinistra , what word does it sound close to? It sounds closely to the word
sinister and with that you think sinistra means dark or evil. However, sinistra s meaning has no thing
to do with darkness or evil; it is Latin for left or left handed. With this misunderstanding of the word
sinistra and other reasons, left handed people faced years of social and religious oppression. Hello, I m
Josh Haxton a lefty and I have always been curious about the history of left handers. Through my
research, I was able to end by curiosity. Today I m going to inform you of the history of left
handedness and famous left handed people in history.
Left Handedness is defined as having the left hand more dominant or effective than the right. However
the dominant use of the left hand was not acceptable for many centuries. In the article Right, Left,
Right, Wrong! , Luke Mastin describes that from the 13th century till the 20th century, left handed
faced inhumane treatment. The beginning of this maltreatment started in the 13th century when the
Catholic Church rose to power. During this time, books and paintings began to damage left handed
people s reputation. In the book The Puzzle of Left Handedness Rik Smits states that one of things that
tarnished their reputation, was European art depicting the Devil and his accomplices as left handed. As
a result, left handers soon became seen as people in league with the Devil. As centuries passed the
tension between right handers and left handers stayed the same until the 15th century and 16th
century. During this period, the Inquisition, a period of suppression against those that believed

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is an enlarged prostate. The prostate goes through two main
growth periods. The first occurs early in puberty and the second begins around the age of 25 and
continues during most of the man s life ( Urology care foundation What is benign prostatic
hyperplasia (bph)?, 2016). BPH normally occurs during the second growth phase. As the prostate
enlarges it squeezes down on the urethra. The bladder wall becomes thicker and eventually weakens
losing the ability to empty completely. This causes urine to be left in the bladder. The narrowing of the
urethra and urinary retention cause many of the problems associated with BPH. It is common in men
and almost half of the men 51 to 60 have it while almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since BPH cannot be cured treatment is focused on reducing symptoms. Deciding how to treat BPH
depends on how bothersome the symptoms are. The American Urological Association symptom index
is an interactive questionnaire that can help to identify how bad the patient s symptoms are and guide
treatment. Symptoms that are mild or do not bother the patient may benefit from just watching them.
Treatment of moderate to severe symptoms depends on how bothersome they are to the patient. For
those who feel their symptoms are bothersome, surgery maybe an option or less invasive therapies
such as transurethral microwave therapy or transurethral needle ablation. Complications of BPH such
as inability to urinate, urinary tract infection, bladder stones, kidney damage, or ongoing blood in the
urine should be treated with surgery. Alpha blockers relax the muscles of the prostate and bladder
improving urine flow and can be used in men with moderate to severe BPH. Men with very large
prostate glands may benefit from 5 alpha reducatase inhibitors which block the production of
dihydrotestosterone. Combination therapy maybe used for patients with overactive

Cognitive Behavioral Theory Of Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Theoretical Analysis Cognitive Behavioral Theory Several prestigious and monumental contributors
commenced the development of cognitive behavioral therapy. The four main catalysts have been
Albert Ellis, Aaron Beck, Judith Beck, and Donald Meichenbaum. Each of these trailblazers lead a
different aspect of cognitive behavior therapies. While working through his own personal fears and
anxieties, Albert Ellis developed what is now termed rational emotive behavior therapy ( REBT ) and
is the first pathfinder of cognitive behavior therapy. He had been passionately involved in
psychoanalysis, yet, he wanted faster results for his clients. He taught his clients to transfer negative
thoughts about themselves to positive thoughts and saw this brought more expedient healing. REBT
starts with the idea that people have both sound and unsound reasoning; then, in the end, teaches
unconditional self acceptance even through one s errors. Ellis REBT asserts that people s mental
health issues come, not so much from an exterior problem, but from their perceptions and thoughts
about a circumstance. The faulty beliefs are instilled when people are very young. Without realizing it,
a person replays the messages in their mind throughout their life which creates behaviors in line with
the inaccurate beliefs. Through cognitive restructuring, therapists assist clients in developing positive
thoughts to replace their invalidating messages. (Corey, 2013). Aaron Beck is the primary

The Incidence Rates Of Infectious Skin Diseases
Skin infections are becoming an increasing concern in New Zealand children (Dogra Kumar, 2003)
(Thompson, 2010). According to recent literature, the incidence rates of infectious skin diseases in
New Zealand are some of the highest in the developed world (Williamson, 2014). These rates can be
attributed to trends that are noted in the literature: particularly those that are related to socioeconomic
status (SES) and ethnicity. This essay will discuss first the patterns and trends in infectious skin
diseases that have given rise to inequities amongst New Zealand children, then the adapted Williams
model will be utilised to understand what causes these inequities. Finally it will discuss how we can
understand and address the issue of childhood skin infections with regards to empowerment and
access to health services.
TRENDS OBSERVED IN THE LITERATURE
The literature demonstrates trends that have appeared in the incidence, treatment and outcomes of
serious skin infections in New Zealand children. Gray (2013) states that the incidence of
hospitalisation due to serious skin infection almost doubled from 298 to 547.3 (per 100,000 in the
population) between the years 1990 and 2007 (Gray, 2013). These trends give rise to inequities
between different groups, in their likelihood of contracting a serious skin infection (Williamson,
2014). As inequities, these differences are unfair, unnecessary and avoidable through appropriate
interventions (World Health Organisation, 2015). The

Loyalty In The Song Of Roland
The social class of a Western Medieval citizen played a significant role in the attitudes and behaviors
one was expected to maintain. Honor and glory were brought to those who knew their place in society
and never strayed from it. Nobility were no exception to this as we can see in the case of Roland, a
great knight whose life is portrayed in The Song of Roland. The setting of Roland s life is during the
Carolinian era during the battle of Roncevaux between France and the Islamic people. The unknown
author of this epic poem portrays Roland as a near faultless man who is able to uphold the duties of
knighthood and sustain his place in the feudalistic society. We can see many examples of him acting as
a perfect knight throughout the book until his honorable death. The first instance of Roland s
knighthood is seen in his loyalty to King Charles of France. Roland is so trusted by the King that he
sits by him and even advises him saying Woe the day you trust Marsile! (pg. 8) in regards to a
proposed treaty. The warning he gives proves to be accurate, proving his intellect and great war
strategy abilities. Roland also honors the when he fought in his name against the Saracens saying We
must take a stand here for our king. For his lord a man should suffer ... Show more content on

The fact that he takes part in the counseling of the King and is trusted as the leader of the rear guard,
shows that his wartime skills were highly revered. Even the enemies of Roland admit his skill such as
Ganelon who says Roland will conquer for him [the king] all the lands from here to the orient and
Blancandrin who says Very fell is Roland, who would make every nation cry him mercy, and who
challenges all lands (pg.16). We see his horsemanship and fighting ability when he rides the pass of
Spain on his swift horse Veillantif (pg.47) and when he wields his sword Durendal and killed many of

Archetypes In The Maze Runner
I was watching The Maze Runner, seeing Thomas weave his way through the maze looking for the
exit. I thought to myself, how does exploring help us survive? Most importantly, how does the
explorer archetype fuel our human nature? The explorer archetype is shown in many films. In most of
the stories, the explorer archetype has helped the character to achieve something or help them survive.
It has come to show without this archetype, in some movies, the character would not be able to
survive or achieve the ultimate goal. Human nature plays into the explorer archetype. Human nature
fuels it. In my opinion, the explorer archetype would not be a thing without human nature. Human
nature is the basis of every archetype, yet characters have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So where does human nature come into play? From the Simthsonianmag.com (an article on our human
nature), Human nature is the basis of all human actions. When you look at these stories, all of them
have something in common. They all have our human nature telling us to explorer for certain reasons.
In some movies it is for survival. Our human nature tells us we need to explore to find food, paths, and
other things that help us survive. As does our human nature tell us the only way to survive is to
explorer. You may not notice it, but the explorer archetype is what helps characters in stories survive
and human nature is what fuels the explorer archetype.
We determined how humanity plays into the explorer archetype, now let s look at how it is shown in
Lost. Before we get started you need to know some background information from lost. This show is
about a group of people that survive a plane crash. They are stranded on an island. No one knows
where they are. Anyways, the explorer archetype is shown in this show. They have nothing but an
island to help them survive. Often times, they find themselves being curious about what is out there.
BBC.com states, We humans have a deeply curious nature, and more often than not it is about the
minor tittle tattle in our lives. (BBC report on curiosity ). Our human nature comes into play here so
that it tells us to go explorer what is out there . A

The First Phase Of Strategy Work
Information collection
The first phase of strategy work is to gain the information of case company. Our case company is a
nonprofit organization MacMillan Cancer Support. The first thing we did is to get to understand how
charity works. After the first group meeting, we decided to find the information about the company
and the industry individually and then made a pool of collected information. As a student from China,
I knew little about charity because in my country charity is not a big industry and people seldom pay
attention to this field. Charity was a totally new thing to me and I started to learn it from scratch. At
the beginning, I felt a little perplexed and I did not know where to start my research work. I searched

We felt we needed to make some change to move forward then we turned to the framework we learned
the lectures.
Information analysis
Our first step was to identify the goal of MacMillan. Unlike profit driven company, charity s goal is
not to chase profit but to make the world better. Their intentions are always altruistic. According to
their homepage and their annual report we found their nine outcomes as their goals. They are devoted
to cancer support to make sure that everyone affected by cancer will not face the disease alone.
After specifying their goal, we moved to the environmental analysis. Since it was in the first few
weeks, we chose the PEST and five forces framework to use. When we started to analyze, a main
problem came to us. Since MacMillan is a nonprofit organization, the definition of its competitors
confused us. Should it be all the charities worldwide or only the local cancer charities? Through
looking up the textbooks and identifying the industry, we thought that in this industry they mainly
competed for the funding, so we defined their competitors as all the cancer charities which searched
for funding against MacMillan. Since the definition of their competitors has been clarified, we started
to look the industry. We thought the hospitals and hospices could be the substitutes of charity and the
new cancer charity would be the potential entrants. In the five

Jacob Van Loon
This is The Wilderness Explosions in the Sky by Jacob van Loon
I particularly like this art piece because it is complex, contrasting, and portrays certain moods and
images.
To start, this painting was made by drawing many overlapping straight lines, and painting over it with
a lacquer, then he repeated this step several more times. He then filled each shape with blue or orange
watercolor paint. You can see where the paint leaks out in some places, this provides a balanced ratio
of geometric and abstract shapes. The blending also softens the contrast between the two colors.
I ve concluded that the painting makes me think of an apocalypse now scenario. Its looks similar to an
office building with the sky reflecting off glass panes.

How Did The Allies Lose Gallipoli
The Gallipoli Campaign (April 1915 January 1916) might have been the biggest failure of the allies in
WW1. The allied goal of freeing the Gallipoli Strait to allow ships to Russia in the winter and their
goal knocking the Ottomans out of the war by reaching Constantinople was never achieved. They had
failed because the Allies severely underestimated the Ottomans, the Allied troops were dropped off at
the wrong place, the Allies were not ready to attack and the Allies made many critical mistakes.
The Allies had planned that they would quickly capture the Gallipoli peninsula without much
resistance from the Central Powers. However; by the time that the Allied troops had arrived in
Gallipoli, the Ottomans had already created all the defences and trenches they needed and had already
settled in them. They had also fortified themselves very well, meaning that it ... Show more content on

The original plan was to land on a beach which would not have cliffs so that they could easily advance
and get off the beach to stay safe and away from the Ottomans, who would be easily able to shoot

high cliffs on the beach, which meant that they were all easy targets for the Ottoman troops, who had
already set up their defences. The Ottoman troops could easily shoot the Allied troops whilst they
were trying to get over the cliffs and advance. That meant that the Allied troops had to dig into the
ground and make trenches to shelter from the enemy bullets. Making trenches meant that the Allied
troops could not advance as quickly as they wanted to. Landing on the wrong beach also meant that
their original plans wouldn t work and that their maps would not help them anymore. As a result of
landing on the wrong beach, the allies couldn t follow the plan as well as they wanted to because their
advance had been slowed

Injustice In The Foster Care System
Annotated Bibliography for Theme of Injustice in the Foster Care System Dickens, Charles. Oliver
Twist. Ed. Philip Horne. Harmondsworth: Penguin, 2003.Print. Dickens portrays the cruel reality of
what occurs in foster care and how negligently the kids placed in the system are treated throughout his
novel, Oliver Twist. The story ultimately portrays how those placed in the system are exposed to more
danger and abuse. Oliver Twist loses his innocence throughout the story due to being forced to commit
criminal acts just to receive food or a place to live. Oliver was born in a workhouse and his mom died
upon delivering so he was sent to an orphanage immediately. At the orphanage the kids are practically

Sixteen year old Callie and her twelve year old brother Jude went through several obstacles since
becoming foster kids. They were often separated from each other due to various reasons such as age
difference or simply most families looking to foster can only afford one child, they were also placed in
a few abusive households which was due to lack of care from those in charge of reviewing foster
parent s applications. In one of the homes they were placed in Callie was put in a really difficult
situation which had a huge emotional toll on her that the trauma stuck with her for a few seasons. Due
to lack of love and affection from anyone in her life Callie fell victim to one of the sons in a foster
home she was placed in. Lucas the son manipulated her by giving her what she thought was the love
she craved although it involved verbal and physical abuse. He would be very controlling and hit her
and claim, that is what love is and Callie knew no better. It got to the extent where he made her
commit sexual acts against her will but at the time she didn t see anything wrong with it. The son
knew he would get away with it because if she told anyone being a foster child she would be placed in
juvey for committing sexual acts with a family member and be placed back in the system. In another
home Callie and Jude were placed in a home of two addicts who forced them to do all the house
chores. The father was never sober, and it was a very toxic household to live in. The violence often
escalated and even got to the point where they both almost lost their lives because the father of the
household owned a gun and attacked them one night while

Gender Essentialism In Boys And Girls By Alice Munro
In Alice Munro s short story, Boys and Girls, the narrator, a young girl growing up on a fox farm who
is coming of age and is thus forced to conform to societies expectations of women. Andrew Bennett
and Nicholas Boyle argue that, Literary texts call into question many of our essentialist ideas about
gender (183) and Munro s story is an example of how literature can help us question the validity of
gender essentialist thought. In this essay, I will argue that Munro s short story does challenge common
essentialist views on gender by exploring the way that society constructs and imposes gender roles on
her characters, particularly the young narrator; and by analyzing the symbolic relationship between the
narrator and the mare named Flora. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the start of the story her dreams reflect her tomboy personality. She dreams of adventures where
she is the hero, constantly saving others. Munro writes, These stories were about myself, when I had
grown a little older, they took place in a world that was recognizably mine, yet one that presented
opportunities for courage, boldness, and self sacrifice, as mine never did. But as her personality is
molded by her family who criticize her masculine traits and encourage feminine ones instead, the
change is reflected in her dreams. They change, and instead her dreams focus on her no longer being
the hero but rather being the beautiful damsel in distress. This is shown in this quote, A story might
start off int he old way, with a spectacular danger, a fire or wold animals, and for a while i might
rescue people; the things would change around, and instead, somebody would be rescuing me, and, At
this point the story concerned itself at great length with what I looked like how long my hair was, and

Visual Effects Of The Great Gatsby
According to Prince, visual effects enables filmmakers to overcome the limitations of time, budget
and place that otherwise would restrict the stories they could film. (P.272). visual effects such as matte
painting, and animation allows filmmakers to film imaginary world and beyond. This week s movie
clip showed images and clips of before and after the visual effects in the Great Gatsby. I was excited
to see the visual effects used in this movie as it is one of my old time favorite. Just seeing how the
visual effects brought the movie to life was so amazing. I think this is on the list of one of the most
important elements in film design, and I really think it doesn t get as much recognition as it should. As
the clips showed us before the visual effects, the movie looks dull and uninterested, but as soon as it
switched to after the visual effects were added, it seems so much more interesting and colorful. ...

One of my favorite visual effects shown was when Leonardo DiCaprio was driving in his car and the

of visual effects, let s take the Great Gatsby for example. If there wasn t any visual effects, the house
that Gatsby lived in would just be a big, colorless mansion, and the scene where he is driving on the
bridge would not be able to make it onto the movie screen because, in reality he just there siting in a

Dollar General Case
Be that as it may, developing an ideal healthcare system will call for requisite transformational
changes in authenticating the ideological construct of both the primary care and primary medical. In
view of the previous studies and comments posted by profound scholars in the nursing mainstream,
primary care and primary medical has been in the forefront in championing for transformational
changes towards ensuring capacity building and boosting the lifestyle of the humanity. In a strong
sense, establishing an extensive healthcare system would ensure that there is an excellent relationship
between the medics and the patients. This perception would ensure that the two parties in question
develops a connection through a system of shared values and common objectives.
Hence, restructuring the primary care and primary medical would enhance quality of the services
offered in the healthcare sector and also boost the reward performance for most health care
professionals. Based on the country s health care system, establishing an exclusive transformational
change would guarantee the social notion of affordability and also sensitize the essentiality of a shared
system of responsibility in the nursing mainstream. However, the paper presents a comprehensive

Women and New Deal Programs Essay
Black Tuesday is cited to be the day that the Stock Market Crashed on October 19, 1929, and it is
believed to have been the beginning of the Great Depression (Schultz). This led to many catastrophes
in the United States economic system that lasted ten years, from 1929 1939 (Schultz). During this time
period consumer spending declined, unemployment increased, and a severe drought throughout the
U.S led to a reduction in agricultural labor, which resulted in even more unemployment (Schultz).

were employed on FERA, Federal Emergency Relief Administration projects, which were run by state

programs and directly assisted women was the Work Progress Administration. The WPA was created
in 1935 and hired single women, widows, or women with disabled or absent husbands (Kennedy 625).
While the WAP employed men in unskilled manual labor job, women were assigned sewing projects.
They were in charge of making clothing, blankets, and other necessities that were given to charities

and in its Federal Art project, which gave 162 women a job painting murals and creating statues for
the newly built post office buildings and court houses (Ware 47). The New Deal policies, while their
main target was employing and benefitting the male population, with the help of Eleanor Roosevelt,
employment for women also increased and provided a foundation for Women s Rights Movement

Difference Between Renewable And Non Renewable Energy
Renewable vs non renewable energy
Energy comes in the form of renewable or non renewable energy. Renewable energy resources include
wind, solar, water, biomass and geothermal. These resources are some of which will not run out
because they are natural resources of the earth. Solar energy comes from the sun, wind energy from
the wind geothermal from deep within the earth and so on. Non renewable resources are fossil fuels
such as coal, oil and natural gases. These cannot be replaced so eventually we will run out and have to
rely on renewable energy. Non renewable energy makes up 86 percent of Australia s energy with the
other 14 percent being renewable energy. 73 percent of Australia s energy is using coal while, 13
percent is natural gases, 7 percent is hydropower, 4 percent is wind, 2 percent is rooftop solar and 1
percent is biomass.
There are a few major advantages with non renewable energy. There are plenty of fossil fuels, such as
coal, oil and gas in Australia so this means they are a relatively cheap fuel and readily available.
Australia has enough fossil fuel resources to last for years. Also very large amounts of electricity can
be generated from fossil fuels. Non renewable energy is cost effective and easier to product and use.
According to National Geographic, there are reservoirs of non renewable energy sources throughout
the world. However, there are some disadvantages to non renewable energy. Fossil fuels are non
renewable and will eventually run out because

white people in order to help salvage what is remaining in the environment. Lame Deer reprimands

The article primarily appeals to individuals with interest in global warming. The main point that Wood
focuses on is the idea of sulfur aerosol injection, in which sulfur dioxide would be pumped into the
sky. However, there are several issues with this concept that he addresses in his article.
The first issue that is addressed is the possibility of acid rain and severe climate shifts. Geophysicists
argue that while the idea would work, catastrophic failures would incur if the sulfur dioxide were ever
to stop pumping into the atmosphere. Wood lists several downfalls of this system, almost in an
intimidating manner. He makes the downfalls seem horrendous to the benefits. However, Wood also
completely disregards the other alternative ideas for solving global warming. From painted skies to
carbon eating trees, the only concept discussed in depth is the sulfur dioxide idea. This raises concerns
as the idea he appears to support the most also happens to be the idea that he discusses the atrocious
downfalls of.
What is interesting about this paper is the author s purpose. It seems as though he is attempting to
raise awareness and support geophysics. However, all the points he brings up to discuss he quickly
refutes with dangers. This confuses the reader as the article is more intimidating rather than
informational. The overwhelming sense of danger associated with each

The Gospel Of Jesus Research Paper
Christmas time has lots of different meanings to people. During Christmas, I choose to focus on the
gift Jesus has given us. By fulfilling the prophecies such as his birth and death,Jesus has given us the
greatest gift of all.
One of the many prophecies that Jesus fulfilled actually happened before he was born. The prophecy
was said in Isaiah 7:14. It says, Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will
conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. If we were to break down this verse it is
giving the Israelites a sign from God. Their Savior would be born from virgin birth and be called
Emmanuel. The naming of Jesus would be important because Emmanuel means God with us and that
s who Jesus was. He was God in the form of the Son here on earth. The prophecy was fulfilled in
Matthew 1:18 which says, This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about His mother Mary
was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant
through the Holy Spirit. This verse explains how Mary and Joseph were not yet married but she had
been found with a baby. At this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The prophecy in Micah 5:2 calls out Bethlehem and says even though you are small and thought of to
be weak, a savior and king will come out from you. Meaning, Jesus would be born and die on the
cross and become our Savior and eternal King. This prophecy is fulfilled in Luke 2:11, For there is
born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This verse was delivered by
an Angel and told everyone a Savior has been born in Bethlehem. By this, he meant Jesus would save
us from sin. God choose Bethlehem for a reason, it belonged to his people the Israelites and it was a
small town but it would have major importance. This is also another sign that shows that God delivers
his messages in different ways. Or through different people such as

End Of Life Care Issues Affecting The LGBT Community
Even though LGBT patients are knowledgeable about ADs and the appointment of health care proxies,
just over 25% have completed advance directives, even in situations where gay men wanted their

understand the LGBT community s concerns regarding their care at the end of life. They should be
informed about programs and policies on end of life care. They should also promote an awareness
among providers of the medical, psychosocial, and legal issues affecting the gay community (Stein

U.s. Presidential Election Elections Essay
In due course of the most recent decade, there has been a significant surge in American independent
voters. It is of verifiable significance to put into thought the effects of these voters, especially, since
the United States (U.S.) currently undergone its eagerly awaited 2016 Presidential General Election. It
is with relevance to presidential elections that we have seen a political surge on American independent
voters and thus having political candidates attempt to sway their view, we have seen fundamental
compelling percentages on these election outcomes.
This case study crafts the breakdown of potential variables that have prompted to the sharp ascent in
American independent voters in previous political history, and the voting behavior to authentic
elements adding to Independent voters decisions. Specifically, to what extent do factors shape the
voting behavior on the increasing rise of the American Independent voter choice and voter turnout in
the 2016 United States Presidential Election? By extension, how do independents differ in part from
the two major partisan ties of the Democratic and Republican parties?
As per the United States voting framework, an independent voter is a non fanatic electorate who is not
subsidiary with a specific political gathering. Independents can either be immaculate or inclining.
Inclining Independents tend to vote for the gathering they incline more towards along these lines they
are mostly divided in that sense. Immaculate

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had a stranglehold on the number two spot on my most anticipated
movies of the year list, behind only a certain eight episode. Its predecessor is one of the best movies in
the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this one reunited the people who made that movie so great.
Nevertheless, I did not expect this sequel to top the original. Instead, I thought it would be an
extremely fun time at the movies that was not quite as good as Guardians of the Galaxy. I was right,
but this movie made it a far closer contest than I guessed.

By that I mean I think Gunn could have made this movie at least as equally epic and grand as the

Lastly, the soundtrack here needs a few words. Guardians of the Galaxy features one of my favorite
soundtracks of all time, so this one had a lot to live up to, though once again I didn t expect it to much
that greatness. Well, it s fantastic, though not as memorable or quirky as the first one. There is no

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Breaking The Line By Samuel Freedman
Samuel Freedman uses rhetoric to call white American sports fan to attention. Although it is only a
four page article, Freedman effectively uses the three main rhetorical techniques of pathos, ethos, and
logos. By appealing to all aspects of the readers analytical senses, this helps Freedman strongly
portray his message for justice in the sports community for not only black athletes, but for anyone of
any race or background.
Right away Samuel Freedman uses pathos in his article to appeal to the audience s emotions. He
focuses on the example of Ray Lewis, a former NFL superstar who has recently been scrutinized by
thousands of fans who used to adore him. Ray Lewis joined the Baltimore Ravens on the field during
the second week of the NFL season. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After including the counterclaim from Douglas Hartmann, Freedman quickly refutes its accuracy by
saying, The reality is that modern American sports have always been political. Segregation was reified
by all white baseball and football leagues(3). Freedman then proceeds to talk about some of the most
acclaimed athletes of all time such as Jackie Robinson, Bill Russell, Jim Brown, and Kareem Abdul
Jabbar. He mentions how all of these athletes are in the hall of fame in their respected sports. It is
important to note that Ray Lewis will also be enshrined into the National Football Hall of Fame in
August, and he too took a political stand. The logic being exemplified here is that all the athletes listed
above were some of the best ever at what they did. This white stardom did not stop them from risking
it all by fighting for equality for people of all backgrounds. This calls out white America for its
immoral treatment of not only Ray Lewis, but any other athlete that is fighting for justice for all. This

Many different variables play a part in finding a solution to help end child labor. Unfortunately, this
form of labor plays a large role in Mexico s economy. Although the country has anti child labor laws,
the children of Mexico are forced to work for a variety of reasons. Most families force the children to
work due to their struggle with poverty and lack of income. Although some organizations (like the
North American Free Trade Agreement) look at solutions to help boost Mexico s economy, large
international corporations enter the country s struggling economy capitalizing on it s low cost
manufacturing and wages, thus forcing children to work. Solutions must be looked at in order to stop
kids from working their childhood away instead of getting an education to ultimately help Mexico s
economy.
The link between Mexico and poverty is a large reason why children are forced to work in factories.
Poverty began to be an issue for Mexico starting many years ago. In the 1940s, when industrialization
began taking place, Mexico s economy was growing at a rate of 6 per cent per year (Latapi and
Gonzalez). This increase in the economy created two new social classes: the urban middle class and
the new working class. By the late 70s, at least half of the working middle class held jobs related in
manufacturing (Latapi and Gonzalez). This employment gave wages high enough to allow one worker

Latin Language In The Latin Language
The Latin language was originally spoken in small groups along the Tiber River, but spread with the
increase of Roman political power. It first spread throughout Italy and most of western and southern
Europe, along with central and western Mediterranean coastal regions of Africa. Today s romance
languages developed from spoken Latin of various parts of the Roman Empire. From the middle ages
to comparatively recent times, Latin was the most common used language in the West for scholarly
and literary purposes (Posner and Sala).
Until the latter of the 20th century, Latin s use was required in the liturgy of the Roman Catholic
Church. During the Classical Period, there were three types of Latin in use: Classical written,
Classical oratorical, and ordinary colloquial Latin, which was used by the average speaker of the
language. Spoken Latin continued to break off from normal grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary.
During Classical and immediate Post Classical periods, there were many inscriptions that proved
spoked Latin, but after 3rd century CE, many texts were written in Vulgar Latin. However, in Early
4th and 5th centuries, St. Jerome and St. Augustine wrote good literary Late Latin. The Latin language
continued to evolve in two ways: the basis of local spoken forms morphed into Romance Languages,
and it was continued in a standardized
Dendy 2 form throughout the Middle Ages as a language of religion and scholarship. Imitation of
Classical and Post Classical models continued into the 6th century. There was also continuity of
literary tradition, even after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Research in the late 20th century
suggested that Romanization was more widespread and only the scholarly men were imbued with
Roman Values. Because Latin died out in Britain, it is believed that the language was only used by the
elite. Some believe that the language died out because of the genocide of the Roman British, and
evolution of the Anglo Saxon and Romano Celtic into the new society (Posner and Sala). Ken Black
believes that Latin is dead. He states that since Latin is no longer used on a daily basis outside of a
religious setting and is no longer used as one s native tongue, it is no longer considered a

process of change, can hold back the development of managerial change (David Foote, 2001).
Bhutan(1995) claimed that it is important to understand one s state of mind in order to make them

some changes. According to De Jag er (2001) , most people are reluctant to change resulting from
their suspicions and fear to the new challenges. Resistance can also occur when change goes against
their habits or values ( Robbins Sanghai, 2006). Kotellnikov (2001) stated that employees could resist

Schema Theory From The Realm Of Social Cognition
In answering the first question, I have proposed the concept of thematic perspectivization which rests
on the three constituent components of (a) perspectivizer, representing the author realized as the
topical Theme I ; (b) perspectivizee, denoting any other human participant again, topically thematic
that is being potentially perspectivized by the author; and (c) perspectivized, encoding any event,
action, or role perceived by the author or by the perspectivizee. All three components were argued to
correspond to certain types of schema whose relevant information has been linguistically cued within
the scope of the Rheme; and this is where the answer to the second question emerged in research. In
order to answer the second question, the present study has employed the schema theory from the realm
of social cognition, but of course without separating itself from the concept of thematic
perspectivization. Crucially, the three different types of schema, person, self , and role, were
theoretically and analytically presented to be compatible with the three components of thematic
perspectivization: perspectivizee, perspectivizer, and perspectivized, respectively. In the data analysis,
new information, appearing as part of Rheme structure, proved to linguistically mark or cue related
schemas; hence, the principle of meta schematic information can be said to be inseparable from
thematic perspectivization both in theory and in practice. Indeed, the information about the

Youth Culture And Subculture Developed
Youth culture existed before the Second World War and it did not suddenly appear after 1945.
However, it emerged after that time for various reasons that will be explained later on this essay. There
were many factors of how youth culture and subculture developed such as: demographic changes,
National Service, education and raising the school leaving age, the economic period and music. And
these factors also helped shape people s experiences of them. B Demographic changes were the first
and one of the reasons why youth culture created such anxiety. Because of survived married soldiers
coming back from the Second World War, there was a baby boom , which meant that the number of
people under twenty grew from 3 million in 1951 to 4 million in 1966. (Osgerby, 2005) B There were
two changes that happened and established youth as a group with certain needs and problems. The
first one was Butler s education act of 1944, and that raised the school leaving age from 12 to 14.
Further changes were made in 1947 raising it to 15 and 16 in 1972. Which meant that it allowed
children to go to secondary school. The second change was the development of youth services such as
youth clubs, which made these young people do something useful in their leisure. (Osgerby, 2005) B
Another factor that helped shape the development of youth culture was the introduction of the
National Service in 1948 and that conscripted

Satire Environmental Problems
Satire is the use of humor, irony, hyperbole, and other forms of figurative language to convey a belief
or an idea. Articles that are non satirical typically center around fact and highlight what is actually
happening without the use of figurative language. Environmental problems are becoming increasingly
prevalent in society today and people frequently express them using both satirical and non satirical
means. With this ever increasing volume of environmental problems beginning to damage the
environment more and more, individuals are seeking to repair the environment. Due to this
exponential increase of harm to the environment, individuals will have to put in more effort in order to
come to a solution that will mitigate the largest damage to the environment. In order to solve these
problems, the problems have to be wholly understood, and the attention of individuals that can
actually do something to solve these problems needs to be reached.Satirical and non satirical means of
expressing these environmental problems will be evaluated in their effectiveness to see which method
is better for conveying these issues. The problems centering around the desolation of the environment

In countries such as the U.S., high ranking officials need the backing of the population to get
something done. As a result, the efforts to warn people about these problems must be adapted to the
mindsets of the average individuals that populate these countries. Satirical means of addressing these
issues are actually more effective than factual means in this context. Satirical means are more effective
than Non Satirical means because they appeal to the understanding of the average individual who can,
in turn, pressure high ranking officials to work on the solutions to all of these increasingly dangerous

National Honor Society Membership Essay
National Honor Society Membership Application Essay Leadership, scholarship, service, and
character are not only values held by the NHS, but that I hold myself. I believe that because of this, I
would be a good fit for the NHS and would be able to strive towards improving my community,
support my peers, and seek out further opportunities to serve others. Leadership, to me, is not
necessarily always equated with a formal title, but rather it is characterized by the attitude, behavior,
mindset, and actions of a person. Being a leader means being positive and supportive of others,
providing them the opportunity to be heard and know that their opinion matters, motivating them to
accomplish shared goals through teamwork. Over the past years, ... Show more content on

As a part of the Europe Trip group, I took part in various efforts to raise money for our trip, like pop

received a percentage of the sales, submarine sandwiches and soup sales, Cookies and Canvas events,
and Rock a Thons. Additionally, I wrote several grants in order to cover the costs of the bus for the
trip, one to the Barry Community Foundation and the other to the Barry County Youth Advisory
Council (YAC). Outside of the Europe Trip, I go to Spectacular every summer, which is a leadership,
sports, arts, and worship camp sponsored by my church, Community of Christ, and held at Graceland

Literature Review On Breast Cancer
Literature Review
The Susan G. Komen Foundation of Greater Atlanta s goal is to reduce mortality of African American
breast cancer by 25% in the next 5 years (Susan G. Komen Atlanta, 2017). In order to reach this goal,
Komen has created many local outreach programs to educate the community about breast health and
breast cancer screening (Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta, 2017). Educational programs like these can
have significant impacts on breast cancer mortality rates (Asuquo and Olajide, 2015). However, they
may need to focus on certain racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic groups (Herndon, et al., 2013). Worship
in Pink is one of Komen s educational outreach programs that provides breast health and screening
information to participating religious organizations (Susan G. Komen, 2017).
Breast Health
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in American women (Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, 2017). However, regular screening and mammograms can help reduce the mortality
rates of breast cancer patients (LaPorta, et al., 2017). Signs and symptoms of breast cancer may
include lumps, abnormal changes to the nipple, abnormal discharge from the nipple, or change in color
of the breast or part of the breast (Asuquo and Olajide, 2015). There are many factors that can put
women at risk of developing breast cancer, the two most common being growing older and being
female (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2017). Other risk factors can include things such

Professional Development Plan Essay
Introduction This assignment describes my own Professional Development Plan (PDP) for the first six
months of my nurse registration. Following a PDP will show my commitment to Continuing
Professional Development (CPD), otherwise known as PREP (CPD). PREP stands for Post
Registration Education and Practice and is a set of Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards
and guidance that help nurses give the best possible care (NMC PREP Handbook 2006 p3); part of
which is a commitment to CPD. CPD is a process of learning activities designed for individuals to
reach their full potential, so they provide the highest possible standards of patients care (NMC PREP

IV therapy is used because it is fast acting, works effectively and if there are any side effects then the
treatment can be stopped instantly (Hopkins 1999 p13); (Mallett Dougherty 2000 p822). During my
clinical placements I have witnessed IV therapy being administered to patients who require prescribed
analgesia, antibiotics or anti emetics as well as observing patients reactions to the treatment. IV
therapy can be very effective (Hyde 2002 p42) but it also carries the greatest risk of any
administration route. Amoore Adamson (2003 p45) maintain that the safe administration of IV therapy
requires the nurse to be skilled and knowledgeable in the use of the equipment, and to prevent any
adverse incidents nurses must have up to date knowledge of the associated risks. As a student nurse I
am not considered professionally accountable and I must work within my level of understanding and
competence, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (NMC guide for students 2006 p4).
Nurses must have the knowledge and skills for safe and effective practice when working without
direct supervision (NMC The Code 2007 p7). The Royal College of Nursing (RCN 2003 p7) states
that IV therapy is a central part of a nurse s professional practice. I realise that as a final year student I
am not authorised to give IV therapy without supervision, so as a newly registered nurse this is an
ideal opportunity to learn about IV therapy. I am using the SMART Framework to

Migrant Groups Are More At Risk Of Developing Mental Disorder
Today there are approximately 1 billion migrants in the world out of which 214 million are
international migrants and 740 million are internal migrants. This wide range of population include
workers, undocumented migrants, students, refugees and others, with each having different needs,
health determinants and vulnerability. The health needs of this large population are considerable
(WHO, 2015). Migration is a stressful experience and not all of the migrants respond to the stress
similarly. The response of individual can be influenced by multiple factors like personal, social and
cultural. Some of these factors are aggravated by the loss of social support system, cultural values,
religious norms, changes in own identity and adjustment to a new culture. These stresses related to
migration impact the mental health of migrants and there are strong evidences which suggest that
certain migrant groups are more at risk of developing mental disorder. Moreover, the rate of mental
illness is also increased among migrants (Bhugra, Gupta, Bhui, Craig, Dogra Ingleby, 2011). The loss
of culture and social support cause grief which is a healthy reaction and natural consequence of
migration. However, psychiatric intervention is required if significant distress is caused and symptoms
persist for specific period of time. Cultural bereavement is an experience of migrated person due to the
loss of cultural values , social support, self identity and adjustment to new culture in which person

Irony And Symbolism In Cabaret s Cabaret
A common theme in the 20th/21st century musical is their commentaries on world history, whether it
is subtle, or not. These comments range from deep political messages about the current political
climate of the world, to implicit ironies of past events. An example of the latter can be seen in Cabaret,
when Maximillian dismisses the Nazi party as merely a means to an end, saying Let them get rid of
the Communists. He then qualifies this statement by saying Later, we ll be able to control them. The
irony of Maximilian s dogmatic statements is only one example of musical s commentary on history
and the world around us. For example, the setting of both Gold diggers of 1933 and Cabaret s, during
the Depression of the 1930 s, in New York and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

depression, a world that did not exist when the film takes place. Despite this, the musical number still
goes to great strides to give off the illusion of wealth in almost every facet. Performers wear scantily
clad outfits designed to look like pennies or quarters, and are flanked by very unsubtle piles of money,
with giant pennies and dollar signs both above and behind them. The use of this Mise en scene is to
make the end of the musical number all the more tragic, showing that even though the performers are

  • 2. The Mistreatment Of Left-Handeded People When you hear the word sinistra , what word does it sound close to? It sounds closely to the word sinister and with that you think sinistra means dark or evil. However, sinistra s meaning has no thing to do with darkness or evil; it is Latin for left or left handed. With this misunderstanding of the word sinistra and other reasons, left handed people faced years of social and religious oppression. Hello, I m Josh Haxton a lefty and I have always been curious about the history of left handers. Through my research, I was able to end by curiosity. Today I m going to inform you of the history of left handedness and famous left handed people in history. Left Handedness is defined as having the left hand more dominant or effective than the right. However the dominant use of the left hand was not acceptable for many centuries. In the article Right, Left, Right, Wrong! , Luke Mastin describes that from the 13th century till the 20th century, left handed faced inhumane treatment. The beginning of this maltreatment started in the 13th century when the Catholic Church rose to power. During this time, books and paintings began to damage left handed people s reputation. In the book The Puzzle of Left Handedness Rik Smits states that one of things that tarnished their reputation, was European art depicting the Devil and his accomplices as left handed. As a result, left handers soon became seen as people in league with the Devil. As centuries passed the tension between right handers and left handers stayed the same until the 15th century and 16th century. During this period, the Inquisition, a period of suppression against those that believed unpopular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is an enlarged prostate. The prostate goes through two main growth periods. The first occurs early in puberty and the second begins around the age of 25 and continues during most of the man s life ( Urology care foundation What is benign prostatic hyperplasia (bph)?, 2016). BPH normally occurs during the second growth phase. As the prostate enlarges it squeezes down on the urethra. The bladder wall becomes thicker and eventually weakens losing the ability to empty completely. This causes urine to be left in the bladder. The narrowing of the urethra and urinary retention cause many of the problems associated with BPH. It is common in men and almost half of the men 51 to 60 have it while almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since BPH cannot be cured treatment is focused on reducing symptoms. Deciding how to treat BPH depends on how bothersome the symptoms are. The American Urological Association symptom index is an interactive questionnaire that can help to identify how bad the patient s symptoms are and guide treatment. Symptoms that are mild or do not bother the patient may benefit from just watching them. Treatment of moderate to severe symptoms depends on how bothersome they are to the patient. For those who feel their symptoms are bothersome, surgery maybe an option or less invasive therapies such as transurethral microwave therapy or transurethral needle ablation. Complications of BPH such as inability to urinate, urinary tract infection, bladder stones, kidney damage, or ongoing blood in the urine should be treated with surgery. Alpha blockers relax the muscles of the prostate and bladder improving urine flow and can be used in men with moderate to severe BPH. • 4. Cognitive Behavioral Theory Of Cognitive Behavior Therapy Theoretical Analysis Cognitive Behavioral Theory Several prestigious and monumental contributors commenced the development of cognitive behavioral therapy. The four main catalysts have been Albert Ellis, Aaron Beck, Judith Beck, and Donald Meichenbaum. Each of these trailblazers lead a different aspect of cognitive behavior therapies. While working through his own personal fears and anxieties, Albert Ellis developed what is now termed rational emotive behavior therapy ( REBT ) and is the first pathfinder of cognitive behavior therapy. He had been passionately involved in psychoanalysis, yet, he wanted faster results for his clients. He taught his clients to transfer negative thoughts about themselves to positive thoughts and saw this brought more expedient healing. REBT starts with the idea that people have both sound and unsound reasoning; then, in the end, teaches unconditional self acceptance even through one s errors. Ellis REBT asserts that people s mental health issues come, not so much from an exterior problem, but from their perceptions and thoughts about a circumstance. The faulty beliefs are instilled when people are very young. Without realizing it, a person replays the messages in their mind throughout their life which creates behaviors in line with the inaccurate beliefs. Through cognitive restructuring, therapists assist clients in developing positive thoughts to replace their invalidating messages. (Corey, 2013). Aaron Beck is the primary ... • 5. The Incidence Rates Of Infectious Skin Diseases Skin infections are becoming an increasing concern in New Zealand children (Dogra Kumar, 2003) (Thompson, 2010). According to recent literature, the incidence rates of infectious skin diseases in New Zealand are some of the highest in the developed world (Williamson, 2014). These rates can be attributed to trends that are noted in the literature: particularly those that are related to socioeconomic status (SES) and ethnicity. This essay will discuss first the patterns and trends in infectious skin diseases that have given rise to inequities amongst New Zealand children, then the adapted Williams model will be utilised to understand what causes these inequities. Finally it will discuss how we can understand and address the issue of childhood skin infections with regards to empowerment and access to health services. TRENDS OBSERVED IN THE LITERATURE The literature demonstrates trends that have appeared in the incidence, treatment and outcomes of serious skin infections in New Zealand children. Gray (2013) states that the incidence of hospitalisation due to serious skin infection almost doubled from 298 to 547.3 (per 100,000 in the population) between the years 1990 and 2007 (Gray, 2013). These trends give rise to inequities between different groups, in their likelihood of contracting a serious skin infection (Williamson, 2014). As inequities, these differences are unfair, unnecessary and avoidable through appropriate interventions (World Health Organisation, 2015). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Loyalty In The Song Of Roland The social class of a Western Medieval citizen played a significant role in the attitudes and behaviors one was expected to maintain. Honor and glory were brought to those who knew their place in society and never strayed from it. Nobility were no exception to this as we can see in the case of Roland, a great knight whose life is portrayed in The Song of Roland. The setting of Roland s life is during the Carolinian era during the battle of Roncevaux between France and the Islamic people. The unknown author of this epic poem portrays Roland as a near faultless man who is able to uphold the duties of knighthood and sustain his place in the feudalistic society. We can see many examples of him acting as a perfect knight throughout the book until his honorable death. The first instance of Roland s knighthood is seen in his loyalty to King Charles of France. Roland is so trusted by the King that he sits by him and even advises him saying Woe the day you trust Marsile! (pg. 8) in regards to a proposed treaty. Most importantly, how does the explorer archetype fuel our human nature? The explorer archetype is shown in many films. In most of the stories, the explorer archetype has helped the character to achieve something or help them survive. It has come to show without this archetype, in some movies, the character would not be able to survive or achieve the ultimate goal. Human nature plays into the explorer archetype. When you look at these stories, all of them have something in common. They all have our human nature telling us to explorer for certain reasons. In some movies it is for survival. Our human nature tells us we need to explore to find food, paths, and other things that help us survive. As does our human nature tell us the only way to survive is to explorer. As a student from China, I knew little about charity because in my country charity is not a big industry and people seldom pay attention to this field. They are devoted to cancer support to make sure that everyone affected by cancer will not face the disease alone. After specifying their goal, we moved to the environmental analysis. Since it was in the first few weeks, we chose the PEST and five forces framework to use. When we started to analyze, a main problem came to us. Since MacMillan is a nonprofit organization, the definition of its competitors confused us. Should it be all the charities worldwide or only the local cancer charities? Through looking up the textbooks and identifying the industry, we thought that in this industry they mainly competed for the funding, so we defined their competitors as all the cancer charities which searched for funding against MacMillan. Since the definition of their competitors has been clarified, we started to look the industry. We thought the hospitals and hospices could be the substitutes of charity and the new cancer charity would be the potential entrants. In the five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To start, this painting was made by drawing many overlapping straight lines, and painting over it with a lacquer, then he repeated this step several more times. He then filled each shape with blue or orange watercolor paint. You can see where the paint leaks out in some places, this provides a balanced ratio of geometric and abstract shapes. The allied goal of freeing the Gallipoli Strait to allow ships to Russia in the winter and their goal knocking the Ottomans out of the war by reaching Constantinople was never achieved. They had failed because the Allies severely underestimated the Ottomans, the Allied troops were dropped off at the wrong place, the Allies were not ready to attack and the Allies made many critical mistakes. The Allies had planned that they would quickly capture the Gallipoli peninsula without much resistance from the Central Powers. Gender Essentialism In Boys And Girls By Alice Munro In Alice Munro s short story, Boys and Girls, the narrator, a young girl growing up on a fox farm who is coming of age and is thus forced to conform to societies expectations of women. Andrew Bennett and Nicholas Boyle argue that, Literary texts call into question many of our essentialist ideas about gender (183) and Munro s story is an example of how literature can help us question the validity of gender essentialist thought. In this essay, I will argue that Munro s short story does challenge common essentialist views on gender by exploring the way that society constructs and imposes gender roles on her characters, particularly the young narrator; and by analyzing the symbolic relationship between the narrator and the mare named Flora. ... Solar energy comes from the sun, wind energy from the wind geothermal from deep within the earth and so on. Non renewable resources are fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gases. By fulfilling the prophecies such as his birth and death,Jesus has given us the greatest gift of all. One of the many prophecies that Jesus fulfilled actually happened before he was born. The prophecy was said in Isaiah 7:14. It says, Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. If we were to break down this verse it is giving the Israelites a sign from God. Their Savior would be born from virgin birth and be called Emmanuel. The naming of Jesus would be important because Emmanuel means God with us and that s who Jesus was. He was God in the form of the Son here on earth. The prophecy was fulfilled in Matthew 1:18 which says, This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Although the country has anti child labor laws, the children of Mexico are forced to work for a variety of reasons. Most families force the children to work due to their struggle with poverty and lack of income. Although some organizations (like the North American Free Trade Agreement) look at solutions to help boost Mexico s economy, large international corporations enter the country s struggling economy capitalizing on it s low cost manufacturing and wages, thus forcing children to work. • 36. Latin Language In The Latin Language The Latin language was originally spoken in small groups along the Tiber River, but spread with the increase of Roman political power. It first spread throughout Italy and most of western and southern Europe, along with central and western Mediterranean coastal regions of Africa. Today s romance languages developed from spoken Latin of various parts of the Roman Empire. From the middle ages to comparatively recent times, Latin was the most common used language in the West for scholarly and literary purposes (Posner and Sala). Until the latter of the 20th century, Latin s use was required in the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church. During the Classical Period, there were three types of Latin in use: Classical written, Classical oratorical, and ordinary colloquial Latin, which was used by the average speaker of the language. Spoken Latin continued to break off from normal grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. During Classical and immediate Post Classical periods, there were many inscriptions that proved spoked Latin, but after 3rd century CE, many texts were written in Vulgar Latin. However, in Early 4th and 5th centuries, St. Jerome and St. Augustine wrote good literary Late Latin. The Latin language continued to evolve in two ways: the basis of local spoken forms morphed into Romance Languages, and it was continued in a standardized Dendy 2 form throughout the Middle Ages as a language of religion and scholarship. Imitation of Classical and Post Classical models continued into the 6th century. There was also continuity of literary tradition, even after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Research in the late 20th century suggested that Romanization was more widespread and only the scholarly men were imbued with Roman Values. Because Latin died out in Britain, it is believed that the language was only used by the elite. Some believe that the language died out because of the genocide of the Roman British, and evolution of the Anglo Saxon and Romano Celtic into the new society (Posner and Sala). Ken Black believes that Latin is dead. • 39. Schema Theory From The Realm Of Social Cognition In answering the first question, I have proposed the concept of thematic perspectivization which rests on the three constituent components of (a) perspectivizer, representing the author realized as the topical Theme I ; (b) perspectivizee, denoting any other human participant again, topically thematic that is being potentially perspectivized by the author; and (c) perspectivized, encoding any event, action, or role perceived by the author or by the perspectivizee. All three components were argued to correspond to certain types of schema whose relevant information has been linguistically cued within the scope of the Rheme; and this is where the answer to the second question emerged in research. In order to answer the second question, the present study has employed the schema theory from the realm of social cognition, but of course without separating itself from the concept of thematic perspectivization. Crucially, the three different types of schema, person, self , and role, were theoretically and analytically presented to be compatible with the three components of thematic perspectivization: perspectivizee, perspectivizer, and perspectivized, respectively. In the data analysis, new information, appearing as part of Rheme structure, proved to linguistically mark or cue related schemas; hence, the principle of meta schematic information can be said to be inseparable from thematic perspectivization both in theory and in practice. Because of survived married soldiers coming back from the Second World War, there was a baby boom , which meant that the number of people under twenty grew from 3 million in 1951 to 4 million in 1966. (Osgerby, 2005) B There were two changes that happened and established youth as a group with certain needs and problems. The first one was Butler s education act of 1944, and that raised the school leaving age from 12 to 14. Further changes were made in 1947 raising it to 15 and 16 in 1972. Which meant that it allowed children to go to secondary school. The second change was the development of youth services such as youth clubs, which made these young people do something useful in their leisure. (Osgerby, 2005) B Another factor that helped shape the development of youth culture was the introduction of the National Service in 1948 and that conscripted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The America s Got Spoon By Heidi Klum Heidi Klum posted on her Instagram a surprising photo of herself as she dressed in a very, very short jean skirt late on Sunday. The Project Runway host showed off her long slender legs and pert buttocks as she posed next to a wooden spoon with the words The Naughty Spoon written on it. The America s Got Talent judge gave the photo a simple caption of Ouch. She added no additional details as to where or why the photo had been taken or who the man lifting up the other end of the woman s denim jeans shorts might be. Though the photo is definitely racy, it passed Instagram s censorship test. It still remains up on Klum s account Tuesday. This is far from the first time the German supermodel mom of four has shared risqué photos on her social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. National Honor Society Membership Essay National Honor Society Membership Application Essay Leadership, scholarship, service, and character are not only values held by the NHS, but that I hold myself. I believe that because of this, I would be a good fit for the NHS and would be able to strive towards improving my community, support my peers, and seek out further opportunities to serve others. Leadership, to me, is not necessarily always equated with a formal title, but rather it is characterized by the attitude, behavior, mindset, and actions of a person. Being a leader means being positive and supportive of others, providing them the opportunity to be heard and know that their opinion matters, motivating them to accomplish shared goals through teamwork. • 45. Literature Review On Breast Cancer Literature Review The Susan G. Komen Foundation of Greater Atlanta s goal is to reduce mortality of African American breast cancer by 25% in the next 5 years (Susan G. Komen Atlanta, 2017). In order to reach this goal, Komen has created many local outreach programs to educate the community about breast health and breast cancer screening (Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta, 2017). Educational programs like these can have significant impacts on breast cancer mortality rates (Asuquo and Olajide, 2015). However, they may need to focus on certain racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic groups (Herndon, et al., 2013). Worship in Pink is one of Komen s educational outreach programs that provides breast health and screening information to participating religious organizations (Susan G. Komen, 2017). Breast Health Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in American women (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2017). However, regular screening and mammograms can help reduce the mortality rates of breast cancer patients (LaPorta, et al., 2017). Signs and symptoms of breast cancer may include lumps, abnormal changes to the nipple, abnormal discharge from the nipple, or change in color of the breast or part of the breast (Asuquo and Olajide, 2015). There are many factors that can put women at risk of developing breast cancer, the two most common being growing older and being female (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2017). Other risk factors can include things such as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

IV therapy is used because it is fast acting, works effectively and if there are any side effects then the treatment can be stopped instantly (Hopkins 1999 p13); (Mallett Dougherty 2000 p822). During my clinical placements I have witnessed IV therapy being administered to patients who require prescribed analgesia, antibiotics or anti emetics as well as observing patients reactions to the treatment. IV therapy can be very effective (Hyde 2002 p42) but it also carries the greatest risk of any administration route. Amoore Adamson (2003 p45) maintain that the safe administration of IV therapy requires the nurse to be skilled and knowledgeable in the use of the equipment, and to prevent any adverse incidents nurses must have up to date knowledge of the associated risks. As a student nurse I am not considered professionally accountable and I must work within my level of understanding and competence, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (NMC guide for students 2006 p4). Nurses must have the knowledge and skills for safe and effective practice when working without direct supervision (NMC The Code 2007 p7). The Royal College of Nursing (RCN 2003 p7) states that IV therapy is a central part of a nurse s professional practice. I realise that as a final year student I am not authorised to give IV therapy without supervision, so as a newly registered nurse this is an ideal opportunity to learn about IV therapy. • 47. Migrant Groups Are More At Risk Of Developing Mental Disorder Today there are approximately 1 billion migrants in the world out of which 214 million are international migrants and 740 million are internal migrants. This wide range of population include workers, undocumented migrants, students, refugees and others, with each having different needs, health determinants and vulnerability. The health needs of this large population are considerable (WHO, 2015). Migration is a stressful experience and not all of the migrants respond to the stress similarly. The response of individual can be influenced by multiple factors like personal, social and cultural. Some of these factors are aggravated by the loss of social support system, cultural values, religious norms, changes in own identity and adjustment to a new culture. These stresses related to migration impact the mental health of migrants and there are strong evidences which suggest that certain migrant groups are more at risk of developing mental disorder. Moreover, the rate of mental illness is also increased among migrants (Bhugra, Gupta, Bhui, Craig, Dogra Ingleby, 2011). The loss of culture and social support cause grief which is a healthy reaction and natural consequence of migration. However, psychiatric intervention is required if significant distress is caused and symptoms persist for specific period of time. • 48. Irony And Symbolism In Cabaret s Cabaret A common theme in the 20th/21st century musical is their commentaries on world history, whether it is subtle, or not. These comments range from deep political messages about the current political climate of the world, to implicit ironies of past events. An example of the latter can be seen in Cabaret, when Maximillian dismisses the Nazi party as merely a means to an end, saying Let them get rid of the Communists. He then qualifies this statement by saying Later, we ll be able to control them. The irony of Maximilian s dogmatic statements is only one example of musical s commentary on history and the world around us. For example, the setting of both Gold diggers of 1933 and Cabaret s, during the Depression of the 1930 s, in New York and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Performers wear scantily clad outfits designed to look like pennies or quarters, and are flanked by very unsubtle piles of money, with giant pennies and dollar signs both above and behind them. The use of this Mise en scene is to make the end of the musical number all the more tragic, showing that even though the performers are In the money and sing of the depression as if it s a thing of the past, their musical is still shut down, by that very same depression.
