Pat Conroy Confessions Of An Ex-Catholic Analysis
The article Confessions of an Ex Catholic by Pat Conroy was about the speaker and how he describes
his experiences about how at first he was a God struck child then he matured to a God Haunted adult.
Even though he does not want to be a part of the Catholic religion anymore he still feels like it is a
part of him. The seed that has been nurturing in him as a child is too far in it s development to uproot
now.
Devices
● Ethos They are free to make their own piece with the universe. This appeals to ethos because it
would be ethically sound to give one s children the right to pick their religion if they so choose to do
so. Many times, too often children are usually born into a specific religion through their parents and
tradition.

Regular Expression Of A Web App
Regular Expression To FSM Web App
3.1 Algorithm
3.1.1 Regular Expression Parsing
I built my own parser which will suit the recursive nature of my regular expression to Finite State
Machine Algorithm. To parse the regular expression, first, the expression is converted from infix to
prefix form. To convert from prefix to infix form, the string is read from the back and on meeting an
operator, it is pushed to an operator stack if top of operator stack has lower precedence than the read
operator else pop it to append to front of output string. If an operand is met, simply append it to
beginning of the output string.
After converting the expression to prefix, second step is to construct expression tree where each inner
node including root node has operator as its value and the leaf nodes are operands. The entire infix
string is read from the end. If the character is an operand it is pushed to the operand stack else if an
operator is read, operands are popped from the operand stack and assigned as left and right child of
node with having the operator as the node value and pushed again into the stack. Since the backward
construction algorithm is recursive in nature, such a syntax tree makes it more suitable for the
algorithm where expression will be taken as input.
3.1.2 Regular Expression To FSM Backward Construction
After converting input expression to prefix and constructing expression tree, next steps is to
implement the Backward Construction algorithm for

Network Traffic Networks And Intrusion Prevention System
Introduction
Network traffic analysis shows that a single host is opening hundreds of secure shell (SSH) sessions to
a single host every minute. What can we do to stop it?
OWDSI has to perform the following which is in the event that SSH is not being utilized on the
personal computer then close the open port, which is port 22. On the off chance that the port needs to
stay open then make sense of the IP address that goes through the port and afterward shut the open,
however open it for the IP Address as it were. Since the host is attempting to open such a large number
of sessions to the next host the principal thin that rings a bell is a refusal of administration (DOS)
assault. Intrusion Detection System and Intrusion Prevention System can be utilized to remember this
assault and after the drop all parcels from the primary personal computer (PC) to keep the assault from
proceeding.
Network traffic shows that hundreds of hosts are constantly sending only synchronized (SYN) packets
to a single web server on campus. What can we do?
OWDSI has to run a report on the security protocol and their security and have all the personal
computers (PC) do a full sweep after the shift it s over. The explanation is that this is a typical attack
of DOS known as a SYN Flood. The assailant utilizes a satirize IP deliver that interfaces with nothing
and afterward sends a huge amount of parcels to the objective. The objective gets the bundles and tries
to send and affirmation to the sender yet

The Assassination Of Timothy Mcveigh
Ever since its creation America has always been seen as the icon for peace and prosperity; however,
just like every other nation in the world, America has encountered some exceedingly dark and sinister
incidents of the past years. Like David Berkowitz s killing spree in New York City during the summer
of 1976, the Virginia Tech shooting that took place on the college campus in 2007, and even the
horrific Oklahoma City Bombing that Timothy McVeigh orchestrated in 1995. But there is one event
in particular that was even more heinous and stranger than any of those the Jonestown Massacre. It
was a mass suicide that occurred on November 18, 1978, in Guyana that took the lives of over 900
innocent people (The Stigmatized Deaths in Jonestown... ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was after several moves starting in the Midwest and ending in the Westcoast that Jones decided that
the Peoples Temple needed to emigrate from San Francisco to Guyana in order to escape what he
believed to be creeping fascism in the United States. Jones was a Marxist after all so there was always
that need to rebel against America and its capitalistic ideas (Russell 39). And the communist utopia
that Jones and the Peoples Temple had created (Jonestown) began to flourish. It had seemed that the
utopia Jones had always envisioned was now reality. The members of the Peoples Temple began to
feel at home because it was a place where anyone no matter what race, gender, or even age could live
in perfect harmony with one another. In fact during its first phase of existence it could actually be
considered a proper socialist community from the point of view of a true political scientist (Latson).
And it was not until the late 1970s that Jim Jones and Jonestown began to crumble which could only
be explained by Jones unusual metamorphosis. Nobody really knows for sure what happened to him
when he and the Peoples Temple had left the United States to build their community in Guyana, but it
would be something that would end up destroying not only himself but everything he and the Peoples
Temple had created. In 1978 it had become evident that the

The Value Of Values For A Human Life
Life is just a bowl of cherries. After our birth, we go to school and subsequently work until we die
with no further progression. Finality in death does not often motivate people to sway from this
monotone, predetermined story. But it should. Our lives are blips in the grand scheme of things with
no real significance or impact so how do we assign a value to human life? Is a construction worker
more valuable than an inventor or a teacher? What can one do to be valuable even in the slightest? As
controversial as deciding someone s life value is, putting a dollar value on that life arises as a more
challenging topic. We must assign a dollar value to lives in the justice system. If not for our obsession
with currency we might value people s lives all the same. We give power to pieces of green paper,
therefore, justifying compensation for a human life. With many contributing factors to a person s
value, one must consider sick or disabled people who simply cannot actively contribute to the future
of mankind. Society should assign value to human lives based on whether a person reproduces or
passes on wisdom in a monumental way. Although some people can be worth something without
reproducing or passing wisdom on, having children and positively influencing the future is the sole
biological purpose of the human race. Happiness can lead to a valuable life. In spite of this, your own
happiness will be forgotten eventually or maybe not even remembered at all. Humans busy themselves

Stop and Frisk final outline
Prof: Maule Brian
Introduction:
There has always been tension raised between maintaining a safe society and observing by the
constitutional rights of its citizens. The New York City aggressive program of Stop and Frisk have
been widely criticized and considered unconstitutional. However, Stop and Frisk, per se is not
unconstitutional unless people are being stopped illegally. It s a crime prevention tool that allows
police officers to stop a person based on reasonable suspicion of criminal activity and to conduct a
frisk based on reasonable suspicion that the person is armed. Some argue this policy was created to
target minorities. Most of the people who have been stopped and frisked under this program have been
African American or Hispanic. This concerns citizens and makes them oppose the policy because they
believe its racial profiling and guided by color. Stop and frisk is now one of the biggest controversies
in United States. It has become something that is affecting society in both a positive and negative way.
Efficiency:
Is or isn t stop and frisk an efficient strategy?
What is the problem with effectiveness argument? Should the New York City Police department
continue using Stop and Frisk or should they end the program? Do Stop and Frisk help to save lives?

Analysis Of Tattoos On The Heart
In his novel Tattoos on the Heart, author Father Gregory Boyle S.J. shares his experiences as a pastor
in the gang capital of the United States, Los Angeles, in an attempt to persuade his readers to look at
gang members with a more humane perspective. To help his readers relate to the gang members, Fr.
Boyle recounts personal anecdotes about the many gang members he works with and their journeys
towards changing their lives. Through his use of colloquial language and informal diction and his
narration of personal stories, Fr. Boyle creates an intimate tone accomplishes his purpose of
discrediting the stereotypes associated with gangs and depicting a human face worthy of respect and
sympathy. Though Boyle published this novel in 2010, his insight and wisdom on the state of gang
violence still hold true today, and he continues to inspire his readers to recognize the tragedies many
gang members face in their everyday lives. Determined to help his audience people who stereotype
against and do not understand gang life find commonalities with gang members, Fr. Boyle shares his
experiences with gangs in Los Angeles. At the beginning of the novel, Fr. Boyle articulates his thesis
and expresses his purpose for sharing his experiences when he states, Though this book does not
concern itself with solving the gang problem, it does aspire to broaden the parameters of our kinship.

New York , are two excerpts from the book Scrappy Little Nobody, by Anna Kendrick. Kendrick uses
detailed stories to recreate a picture of her childhood, including memories of sleepovers, school bullies
, and bus trips to New York. Anna Kendrick also mentions people that were part of her life, such as her
parents sending her and her brother to New York for an audition, and Tori the bully who tried to steal
all of her friends. Kendrick expresses her anger when Tori frames her for insulting her friends, and
shares about the excitement she felt when she landed her first acting job. All of this being told from a
first person point of view. Anna Kendrick uses idioms and superlative word choice along with an
overall humourous tone. Figurative language that was used included, I shouldn t get too excited. I
shouldn t count my chickens. , and the metaphor that caught my eye was when she compared
underneath the slide on the playground to a Victorian asylum. One noteworthy phrase was It became
less about alleged betrayal and more about their aversion to hyperactive little weirdos. Kendrick

Computer networking was invented to make the computers communicate with each other.
Communication between computers is faster and easier than any other mode of communication. In
addition to providing faster communication, computer networking empowered the computer users to
to access remote programs and databases. Apart from these plus points, there are several other benefits
of computer networks. Computer networking reduces the business process expenditure by making
hardware and software resources remotely accessible and by downsizing to microcomputer based
networks instead of using mainframes. Accumulating data from multiple resources has become
effortless process, which also ensures the reliability of the information.
Definition Of Computer Network
A computer network is defined as an interconnected system in which computers are interlinked to each
other for communication purpose so that resources and information could be accessed by all
connected nodes.

Frankenstein Quotes About Victor s Downfall
Throughout the entire of the novel, Frankenstein, Mary Shelley shows that Frankenstein s demise is a
direct result of his own decisions. Mary displays this through three vivid actions that Victor did; the
creation of the creature, the death of his Brother and trial of Justine, and the ignorance Victor had that
led to the murder of Victor s wife, Elizabeth. Victor was a very smart student with an immense drive
to accomplish whatever he told himself he was going to accomplish. With Victor s early studying in
college, Victor describes his situation when studying Victor s cheeks had grown pale with study, and
my person had become emaciated with confinement. (Shelley 40), Showing Victor relied so heavily on

Victor knew that what he was doing was hurting his body physically and mentally, My labors would
soon end, and I believe that exercise and amusement would then drive away incipient disease (Shelley
42) Victor felt this way when he was in the midst of the creation of his monster. Victor knows that his
decisions were hindering his body and his ruining his limited time that Victor has on this Earth. The
hindering of someone s body and wasting of time is going to be a direct result of Victor s demise. The
actual creation of the monster also took a toll on Victor; Victor describes the monster by saying No
moral could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could not
be so hideous as that wretch (Shelley 44) Another example of Victor s description of the creation of
the monster the night before I trembled exclusively; I could not endure to think of, and far less to
allude to, the occurrences of the preceding night (Shelley 46) Even the next day, after the monster was
created, Victor still was hurt by the creation of the monster which then led to Victor being very sick,
only to be nursed back to health by Clerval. All of this could have been avoided by Victor if he would
have not of created the monster. But because Victor decided to create the monster, the consequences of
these actions were the ultimate demise of Victor with the person responsible for the demise being

Technological Changes In Ww1
How did changes in technology contribute to the characteristics of the war? Major changes in
technology had a huge impact on the war and it made the war much more difficult and complex to
fight and dragged on for four years. New improvements in technology had provided the attackers with
new and powerful weaponry, technologies such as heavy artillery and machine guns which eventually
led to trench warfare and then caused both sides to be in stalemate, and deadly gases were the major
weaponry used in this war. The new technologies, mainly the machine gun, forced the war to become
a trench warfare.
World War I was the first war in which fixed trench warfare became the accepted method of fighting.
Due to the advanced technological improvements in engineering and chemistry, many countries
produced weapons deadlier than ever and this made the war impossible to win. The trenches were
built to protect the defenders: in dry country they were dug and reinforced, in wetter areas they were

Shrapnel shells were highly explosive and they exploded above the ground and sprayed bullet sized

were called Weapons of Destruction . They were on the opposite side of the valley and as we came
over the brow of the hill they opened on us with rifle fire and shrapnel from about 900 yards. We lost
three officers and about 100 men killed and wounded in that half hour. I do not want any more days

no longer alive he was still greatly known throughout the empire.
Alexander s use of propaganda, in opinion, was one of the best uses in history. He used art as
propaganda to create his god like symbol for himself. In doing this he created his own use of
propaganda. He conquered an empire, defeated other leaders, and gained the respect and control of his
people. Alexander was one of the most brilliant and powerful known leaders in history. To this day
Alexander is well known through is use of artistic and warlike propaganda. The images and art that we
see today still convey his intense leadership and figure. The images also convey the fascination that

What steps can be taken to make controlling costs easier?
The budget process is the way an association goes about building its financial plan. A decent planning

upsides and downsides to this sort of spending plan control. Top down planning can be something to

A Complex Adaptive System ( Cas )
Organizations and businesses are now seen as a function of increased specialization. Technology has
become the order of the day where more and more businesses are heading towards that direction to
have a competitive edge within the industry they best identify with. In light of this, conflicts are
sometimes very challenging to comprehend, and theorists have also questioned the nature of the whole
system to which all these complicating factors contribute. Many experts and scholars have argued that
all these developments are characterized by a Complex Adaptive System (CAS). Most organizations
are engulfed in planning activities such as formalized planning sessions that are of a strategic nature
by design and to do this; business leaders tend to look for business intelligence, knowledge
management and other methods that will enable them to have active planning sessions in real time to
match the ever growing system. What then is Complex Adaptive System? To best define CAS, we
need to understand what a system is. A system is defined as an assembly of elements hooked together
to produce a whole in which the attributes of the elements contribute to a behavior of the whole (
Complex Adaptive Systems, n.d.). Examples of systems include the human body, galaxies,
ecosystems, airplanes and computers. CAS is the study of natural systems and how they interact,
adapt, and survive over time (Evans, 2015). By this definition, it is fair to say that organizations
cannot ignore the

Throughout the years, food has developed into more than something to eat. Food, and the cooking and
preparation of food has become an art; something to enjoy and savor. Food brings people together.
Gastronomy, the practice or art of choosing, cooking, and eating good food, has become world
renowned. Gourmet and delicacy foods, go for up to hundreds of dollars. Ironically, a common food
for the wealthy, lobster, was once a low class food that was fed to prisoners up until the 1800 s. In fact,
some colonies had laws against feeding lobsters to inmates more than once a week because it was
thought to be cruel and unusual (460). A big controversial question about lobsters is: do lobsters feel
pain? Some believe they do not feel pain due to the lack of a complex nervous system and a cerebral
cortex, which in humans is the area that gives the experience of pain. Some, however, believe lobsters
do in fact feel pain, possibly even more vulnerable than humans, due to their tiny fiber like hairs that
surround their body, and their lack of mammalian nervous systems analgesia what controls pain. The
question that will remain undeceive, Is it right to boil a sentient creature alive just for our gustatory

Case Study Summary:
Louise a 55 year old woman who cares for her 15 year old granddaughter Marissa, just found out that
she has been diagnosed with osteoporosis after visiting the doctor for long lasting hip and wrist pain.

Phantom Limbs Essay
Phantom Limbs
Phantom Limb Pain (PLP) is a serious condition that occurs when a person who has lost a part of their
body though amputation, trauma (brachial plexus), or loss of nervous connections in an appendage,
perceives that the limb is still there and experiences sensations coming from this area. It was first
described in 1866 by S. Weir Mitchell, an American neurologist, through a short story published in
Atlantic Monthly. While Mitchell may then have wondered if this was specific to wounded Civil War
soldiers, it has since been established as quite common (1). Over 70% of amputees report phantom
limb pain for years after amputation (2). Several theories have been proposed regarding PLP, although

Data indicated that PLP is related to, and may be a consequence of, plastic changes in the primary
somatosensory cortex, and that the shift of the cortical map following amputation might be a potential
neurophysiological basis of PLP (6).
Further studies in 1998 investigating the re mapping component in the brain were conducted by
researchers at the University of Toronto and The Toronto Hospital. The study recruited amputees who
experienced phantom pain for surgery to map the sensory areas in the brain. During the mapping
process, the conscious patients reported sensations they felt when certain areas of the thalamus were
stimulated. Patients reported phantom sensations when areas of the thalamus were stimulated that
formally were innervated by neurons from the missing arm, and also when areas on the stump were
stimulated that activated these reorganized regions in the brain. Neurons were shown to continue to
carry out their original roles, but with different sources of activation (7).
While persuasive, the aforementioned experimental conclusions are well critiqued by Ronald Melzack
who argues against looking to the somatosensory cortex or thalamus as the only cause of phantom
pain in his April 1992 Scientific American article. He states: Such changes in the somatosensory
thalamus or cortex could explain why certain feelings arise in limbs that no longer exist or can no

Neal Shusterman s Unwind
Former President John F. Kennedy said, Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and
direction. Leadership is a quality found in many characters of writer. In Neal Shusterman s Unwind,
Connor is a main character that found direction and became a great leader. Unwind is a story that takes
place in future America. The unwinding process takes place from the ages of thirteen to eighteen.
During this time, kids are able to be unwound and harvested for their body parts. Kids will not die but
they will live in a divided state. Connor is one of the main characters in Unwind. From the moment

running from, you won t get away unless we work together. (38) When they are around the campfire
later, Risa says I wouldn t be here if it wasn t for Connor. (42) Connor was able to come up with a
plan to take down the juve cop in a short amount of time with a girl he had never met before. When
the Unwinds revolt against the admiral and destroy the Graveyard, Connor is nowhere to be found. By
the time he gets back, the place is complete chaos. This, however, does not stop Connor as he is able
to get everyone s attention. Shusterman uses words like obediently (252) to show Connor s power over
the kids. After Connor gets Risa and the Admiral out of the jet, he assigns Hayden to calm everyone

astonishing. Even Roland realizes this when they come back to the Graveyard and all the attention is
on Connor and everyone listens to him. Roland thinks to himself, all his support was gone, (259) and

This essay is going to look at the term Bricolage and how it links to postmodernism and the term

new identities from the resources available to them (Ratneshwar, 2000:132). Fashion designers find
their inspiration from the past and combine styles to create new designs that are seen as different and
inventive. However, many people argue that so many designers use materials, looks and styles from
the past that they are re using fashion in a continuous cycle and are no longer being original and

Seven Types Of Radical Honeybees Around The World
From their tremendous hives to their venomous stings to their countless hours of vigorously
pollinating, honeybees are amazing. There are seven types of radical honeybees around the world.1
Humans are responsible for most deaths of these humble creatures. Little do we know that our harmful
actions against honeybees could change the world forever. Honeybees currently reside on every
continent in the world, except for Antarctica.1 Honeybees live in hives and are widely known around
the world for their ingenious production of honey. What honeybees do for their hive is dependent on
their gender; females are workers and males are drones.5 The queen bee is another type of bee along
with the worker bees and the drones, the queen bee is a bit bigger than the others and their is one of
them in each colony.5 The hives are usually created by the bees themselves. In these hives they also
store the contents of honey as well as the honey itself.5 Many beekeepers keep special hives to collect
honey.5
Classification
Honeybees are part of the Kingdom Animalia because they are animals, the Phylum Arthropoda
because they have exoskeletons, the Class Insecta because they are are insets, the Order Hymenoptera
because they are a species of bee, the Family Apidae because they are one of the many species of bees,
and last of all the genus Apis because they are a honeybee.1

Theme Of Madness In Hamlet
Is Hamlet Sane or Insane That is The Question Madness is a trait which it is difficult to tell its
authenticity. The theme of madness is an essential piece in William Shakespeare s famous play
Hamlet, the protagonist, Hamlet, who just lost his father, and having his uncle, Claudius marrying to
his mother, Gertrude weeks after, he is very upset about the events and became very depressed. When
Hamlet meets the ghost of his father, he decides to put an antic disposition on and started acting crazy
as a part of his plan in order to discover if his father s been murder or not. From time to time, Hamlet s
act of lunacy gets out of control and eventually caused him to lose his sense of reality and actually go
insane, just like when he sees the ghost in his mother s room, but Gertrude did not see or hear a thing,
and he starts to lose his logical sense at the end when he is talking to the Osric and his best friend,
Horatio. Finally, Hamlet s antic disposition overtakes his rationality, controls him, and leads him to his
downfall and many others around him. First of all, there are many situations that prove Hamlet is
rational and totally pretending to be a lunatic. After the ghost reveals to Hamlet that his father was
murdered in his sleep by his own blood brother Claudius, Hamlet decided to put an antic disposition
on. (1.5.173) This event suggests that Hamlet is still being rational and thinking logically and he
chooses to act insane instead of actually being insane, in order

The Civil War And The United States Essay
The civil war that continues to rage in Syria for the past five years has been one of both great loss and
great interest. Several key actors from around the world such as the United States, Russia, Turkey, the
Syrian government, Syrian rebels or National Coalition, Iran, and Saudi Arabia all have a great
amount at stake based on the outcome of the war. Thus, the difficulties of negotiating peace are almost
impossible to overcome, which causes great powers like that of the U.S. and Russia to use their
resources in order to obtain their desired outcome. In this essay, I will be outlining the key actors,
which side they are on, and what is at stake for each of them within this civil war, as well as
examining how this turmoil has [created] a haven for the Islamic State to move in. Now let us identify
the key actors who have a stake in this civil war. Initially, one should look at the country of origin in
which a civil war plays out, in this instance, Syria. Syria was thrown into a state of turmoil after the
government reportedly arrested and tortured teenagers who had painted revolutionary slogans on their
school s walls. This caused massive rallies to take place, in which government soldiers fired upon
protestors, killing several. As a result, the protestors took up arms of their own and proceeded to fight
back against the governmental forces in an attempt to end President Assad s regime. This then drew up

Who Is Esther Greenwood In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Depressions often personified as a villain that traps people and does not let them go. This is a claim
most of its victims would agree with, especially Esther Greenwood. The Bell Jar, written by the Sylvia
Plath, follows Esther Greenwood s descent into and recovery from madness. Esther is a young and
brilliant writer, whose ambitions are stunted by a crippling depression. Plath, describes an outlook on
reality that is distorted by mental illness through the symbolism of the fig tree and the bell jar. The
indirect characterization of Esther also gives a perspective of this distorted reality. Though she wants
to move forward, her state of mind holds her back. Plath argues, that mental illnesses give one an

Firstly, I think that it is necessary to define what hard discount is to better understand how this model
works and how it has changed through the time. Hard discount store is a store that sells mainly food in
free service and this business model is also characterized by its low prices, small retail space and a
limited assortment of products. We can find some brands in hard discounters, but it represents a
minority. The reduced staff and the versatility of this one is another characteristic of this business

Hard discount found its origins in Germany at the end of the 40s. Launched by the Albrecht brothers,

Labour Day In The Late 1800s
Labor Day occurs every first Monday in September. It is dedicated to the social and economic
achievements of American workers. Labor Day was created by the 19th century labor movement
(Labor Day, 2010). It became a federal holiday in 1894. To some Americans, Labor Day symbolizes
the end of the summer. It is celebrated with parties, parades, and athletic events. Labor Day originated
during the height of the Industrial Revolution in the United States which was in the late 1800s (Labor
Day, 2010). Around this time, the average American worked 12 hours days and seven days a week.
Even though there were regulations in some of the states, children who were as young as 5 or 6
worked in mills, factories and mines. They only earned a fraction of what the adults were earning.

How Large Is The Current U.S. Budget Deficit And How Has
How large is the current U.S. budget deficit and how has it changed over the last few years? The
projected Unites States budget deficit for fiscal year 2017 is a staggering $559 billion dollars. A
budget deficit occurs when the government spends more than it receives in revenue over a specific
period of time (Schiller, Hill, Wall, 2013, p. 251). Currently the US government runs on a fiscal year
(FY) which begins October 1st each year. The projected rate of 2017 s deficit is 17.6 % of expected
revenues of $3.4 trillion which is only slightly lower than FY 2016. The 2016 deficit represented 3.2

debt of the federal government (Schiller, Hill, Wall, 2013, p. 261). This astronomical figure is difficult
to fully grasp. To break it down in simple terms; that amounts to $61,55 per US citizen, and $166,775

the debt off by raising taxes alone (Federal Reserve, 2017). At issue, who owns this debt? The US

own 13% and the Federal Reserve owns an additional 12%. The other 34.4% of US debt is owned by
other countries and foreign interests (Patton, 2014). This could potentially lead to national security

A Comparison Of Intertextuality In The Matrix And The Matrix
The Matrix
Intertextuality is the relationship between two texts with the same setting or theme. For example The
Matrix is just one of many films that use more than one intertextuality in the film. By using
intertextuality it helps send messages out that the audience will understand better from the dialogue. In
the film The Matrix the main character Neo (Thomas Anderson), finds out that the world he is living
in is controlled by false intelligence to hide the truth about the real world. Some references from this
film are Alice in Wonderland and Plato s Allegory of the cave these films are used because of how
both of these films use imaginary worlds and also machinery taking over society. These films all
revolve around one metaphysical question, what is real? and both of these films have many
similarities.
Neo, who is the main character, is trapped in a false existence, which is crated by a computer program.
The Machines created the program also took over the planet. In Plato s Allegory of the Cave is about a
prisoner who is able to understand the difference between the reality of the cave and the real one out
side of the cave. But both of these films revolve around the same metaphysical question, what is real?
there are quite a few similarities that the matrix and the cave share. One of the biggest similarities is
the fact that they both, Neo and the freed prisoner have to face the acceptance of the truth about
themselves. Both of them have to accept the truth before they can learn the truth and about the
essential truths. Neo and the freed prisoner need to experience proof that the senses are inadequate and
that they can be systematically deceived before they can learn the knowledge they need. Both of the
worlds in the stories are controlled by a greater power. For example, Plato s prisoners live in a cave
that is controlled by the leaders, while Neo lives in a world that is controlled by the matrix. In the end
both of the characters realise that they are just prisoners and were unaware of the reality they thought
they know.
Both of these stories have the characters learning new achievements. In the Matrix, neo can learn
physically impossible things once he learns how to manipulate the matrix. And the

The Parthenon is easily one of the most recognizable architectural landmarks in Greece. Resting on a

partisan nature of support for decreased environmental spending. The Republican Revolution of 1994
brought a much more Conservative flavor to the Republican Party. Strong Republicans would be more
likely to toe the party line on issues like environmental spending, and post 1994, the Republican Party
line was arguably more anti environmentalist. This willingness among strong Republicans to carry the
party line on environmental issues may be partly responsible for the widening gap between some
groups of traditional Republicans.
Republicans showed their strongest support for environmental spending in 1988, the year after

Personal Values
Personal Values Development
Personal Values Development The development of personal values occurs over a lifetime of living and
experiences. What are personal values? What sources shape and influence those values? What criteria
and decision making may be used to reshape our personal values? What impact do personal values
have in the workplace and on workplace performance? This paper will address these issues from a
personal perspective.
Personal Values What are personal values? First, many often confuse values and ethics. The terms are
not interchangeable but they also do not exist separately from each other. Ethics refers to standards of
conduct that indicate how one should behave based on moral duties and virtues derived ... Show more

Schools are not value neutral environments and are committed to teaching the value of truth. Cheating
is not condoned and consequences result when caught. Teachers are role models of behavior and
reasoning by the actions they display in their classroom and the structure which they establish for their
students. Each of these things will play a role in the development of personal values. As children
become more active and involved in school, the sphere of influence widens further. Friends, team
mates, school organizations, sports activities, and clubs are examples of influence that continue to
mold our value system. Entering the workforce further provides opportunities for our values to be
shaped by those surrounding us. Everyone is affected by the culture and values of the companies they
work with. Coworkers, managers, and the company s executives all have the opportunity to participate
in the on going process of influencing and shaping the values of those around them. Professional
organizations and civic activities will also play a role in the on going development of personal values.
Do Personal Values Change? A person s values will change as they get older. With aging, maturity and
life experiences, an individual may develop a new and perhaps different understanding of his or her
own personal values. What was seemingly important as a child may not be as important as an adult. At

Medication Metabolism Research Paper
Medication Metabolism May Land Your Patient In the ED... or Worse
Patients walk into our clinics daily with a variety of complaints. Many things we can observe and
assess drive our decisions for plans of care. However, there are some things about our patients we can
t see. Some things nobody would know under normal circumstances. How most medications are
metabolized is predictable across the population, but some medications throw us a curve ball.
Polypharmacy is a necessity in primary care. As primary care providers (PCPs) we see patients for
both chronic and acute pathologies. Understanding metabolic pathways is expected of us as providers,
but that doesn t make us invulnerable to poor outcomes despite best efforts. In the following ... Show

In addition to undergoing O demethylation into morphine, codeine is N demethylated into norcodeine
by CYP3A4 and also undergoes glucuronidation. Clarithromycin, a macrolide, is a known inhibitor of
CYP3A4 which most likely further reduced clearance of the codeine.
While the codeine is what caused the CNS depression that threatened our patient, it should be noted
that the ineffectiveness of his SSRI he spoke of in our review of systems may also be attributed to our
patient s possible status as an ultra metabolizer. Fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, and paroxetine are
influenced by a few genes of the CYP450 enzymes but none more than CYP2D6. The ultra
metabolizer phenotype of CYP2D6 causes the patient to have sub therapeutic concentrations of SSRIs
causing decreased response.
This report of central nervous system depression after the administration of recommended doses of
codeine in a patient with a CYP2D6 ultra metabolizer phenotype supports genetic testing to assist in
elucidating serious adverse drug reactions and in prevention of subsequent inappropriate dosing or
drug selection. Genetics testing can give insight as to how our patients process the medications we
prescribe them. Pharmacogenetics is a growing field with many benefits to the patient. Our duty as
providers is to stay abreast of a developing technology that will provide better outcomes for our

Essay On Google Driverless Cars
The biggest compliment you could possibly give the Google driverless car team is that experiencing
their groundbreaking product feels utterly unremarkable. Dull, even.
But there s more than meets the eyes.
On October second 2015, Dave lee and a group of reporters were given an opportunity to ride in two
of their driverless vehicles.
The first was a modified Lexus that has been out on the streets around here for well over a year now,
and is improving and learning every day as new scenarios are logged and analyzed by the team.
This version, which is the most ready for the roads, though still years off, is essentially a normal car,
except it drives itself.
The second car was more interesting, and is a better reflection of where Google is ultimately ... Show

No steering wheel. No pedals. Nothing really save for a couple of chairs with a control panel in
between.
The prototype was unveiled earlier this year, but we didn t hear much about it. Now, Google had set
up an obstacle course on top of one of its buildings. Across the makeshift course were hazards a child
on a bike, a car pulling out, a man walking aimlessly in front of the car. Naturally, the car dealt with
all this impeccably.
The group of reporters shared their ride with the Guardian s jemima kiss, and while Google wouldn t
let Dave and the reporter s film or take pictures in the vehicle they did convince them to let them
record their experience for that week s edition of Tech Tent. So why unremarkable? Well, like any
good technology, the driverless car technology just works.
As much as Dave like to write about the white knuckle Oh my gosh, there s no driver! ride he had in a
prototype car, that really wasn t the case.
It was slow. It was cautious. It was safe, a more attentive driver than any human could possibly ever
be.
The pod demo was in a highly controlled environment. Nothing was ever going to go wrong (although
there is a big, fat emergency stop button in the car if needs

Enterprise Industrial Relations Essay
Todd (2012) has interviewed employer association representatives and examined their public
statements and submissions. From her research, she questions whether the changes to the industrial
relations system that employer associations advocate would enhance productivity. With regard to
issues such as penalty rates and job security, there is evidence that these relate to cost cutting and
enhanced managerial prerogative rather than productivity. Discuss
Introduction
During 2011 employer associations in Australia conducted an active lobbying campaign to introduce
legislative changes with respect to industrial relations. Predominantly they were seeking to diminish
the power of collective bargaining and increase managerial control under the ... Show more content on

Ultimately employers indicate that unless businesses can become more flexible then in the long term
there will be no work available at all (Pye, 2012).
Statistical research by Eslake (2011) has established that for the last decade Australia has been
experiencing a decline in overall productivity. This supports the main thrust of the lobbyists, who
argue that rigid organisational pay and working conditions create an inflexible organisation which is
not able to compete in the international environment. They argue that there is a direct correlation
between increased organisational flexibility and productivity, and a number of large organisations in
Australia have suggested that barriers to productivity include a lack of flexibility, increasing penalty
rates, and restrictions on the use of contractors (Todd, 2012:350). They believe that these inhibitors
should be addressed in amendments to the FWA in order to secure a productive future for Australia
and the workforce in general.
Challenges
Todd (2012) questions the validity of these sweeping arguments made by employers seeking to
challenge the FWA. She draws upon wider research which demonstrates that generalisations linking
flexibility and organisational productivity should be treated with caution as the specifics of this within
organisations are also correlated to aspects of leadership and organisational culture (Abernathy, 2011).
In essence, small flexible

Entitlement In A Few Good Men
Professor of American Literature Sarah Churchwell once said, People who are given whatever they
want soon develop a sense of entitlement and rapidly lose their sense of proportion. In the famous
movie A Few Good Men, Colonel Nathan R. Jessup, who is masterfully played by Jack Nicholson,
exudes arrogance in his every action throughout the crime fiction thriller. Furthermore, Lieutenant
Daniel Kaffee uses his late father s past occupation of United States Attorney General to obtain his
own sense of entitlement and invincibility. Two independent scenarios occur in the film that support
this theory of entitlement; three different decorated authors also contain evidence as to why this might
be the case for Colonel Jessup and Lieutenant Kaffee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene refers to a situation early on in the film when Lieutenant Kaffee is late to a meeting with
his fellow comrades. Unprepared and disrespectful, he is still assigned a case to defend two marines
who have killed another. No punishment for neither being late to the meeting nor being unprepared
and disrespectful to his equals. Zimbardo and Milgram alike would likely begin by both regressing to
their previous points in proving that submission to a person causes the entitlement feeling in that
person s mind; both of which concluded with these results in their respective experiments (Z M
84,113). However, specialized writer and editor, Kori Ellis, would refute that this is the only reason
that Kaffee feels as entitled and invincible that he indeed feels. Spoiled kids often develop into self
absorbed adults with a lack of self control and a major sense of entitlement, she writes. Furthermore,
she illustrates that these spoiled children, as adults, carry this sense of entitlement throughout their
lives causing them to be disliked and frowned upon in the work force (Ellis). Quick, concurring
comments would likely be made by School Age Children Expert Katherine Lee when she discusses
the effects on children as a result to a lack of discipline throughout her article, Surprising Reasons
Why We Need to Discipline Our Children. Discipline is essential to a child s proper development and
a lack of discipline is detrimental, she illustrates. This causes the child to struggle respecting others,
similar to how Kaffee feels throughout the duration of the film especially coming to focus in the
meeting scene discussed (Lee). Lieutenant Kaffee s father, as previously mentioned, was the attorney
general of the United States: To put this in perspective, the only authority to this position is the
President of the United States. There was

The seed that has been nurturing in him as a child is too far in it s development to uproot now. Devices ● Ethos They are free to make their own piece with the universe. • 3. Regular Expression Of A Web App Regular Expression To FSM Web App 3.1 Algorithm 3.1.1 Regular Expression Parsing I built my own parser which will suit the recursive nature of my regular expression to Finite State Machine Algorithm. To parse the regular expression, first, the expression is converted from infix to prefix form. To convert from prefix to infix form, the string is read from the back and on meeting an operator, it is pushed to an operator stack if top of operator stack has lower precedence than the read operator else pop it to append to front of output string. If an operand is met, simply append it to beginning of the output string. After converting the expression to prefix, second step is to construct expression tree where each inner node including root node has operator as its value and the leaf nodes are operands. The entire infix string is read from the end. If the character is an operand it is pushed to the operand stack else if an operator is read, operands are popped from the operand stack and assigned as left and right child of node with having the operator as the node value and pushed again into the stack. Since the backward construction algorithm is recursive in nature, such a syntax tree makes it more suitable for the algorithm where expression will be taken as input. 3.1.2 Regular Expression To FSM Backward Construction After converting input expression to prefix and constructing expression tree, next steps is to implement the Backward Construction algorithm for ... • 4. Network Traffic Networks And Intrusion Prevention System Introduction Network traffic analysis shows that a single host is opening hundreds of secure shell (SSH) sessions to a single host every minute. What can we do to stop it? OWDSI has to perform the following which is in the event that SSH is not being utilized on the personal computer then close the open port, which is port 22. On the off chance that the port needs to stay open then make sense of the IP address that goes through the port and afterward shut the open, however open it for the IP Address as it were. Network traffic shows that hundreds of hosts are constantly sending only synchronized (SYN) packets to a single web server on campus. What can we do? OWDSI has to run a report on the security protocol and their security and have all the personal computers (PC) do a full sweep after the shift it s over. The explanation is that this is a typical attack of DOS known as a SYN Flood. The Assassination Of Timothy Mcveigh Ever since its creation America has always been seen as the icon for peace and prosperity; however, just like every other nation in the world, America has encountered some exceedingly dark and sinister incidents of the past years. Like David Berkowitz s killing spree in New York City during the summer of 1976, the Virginia Tech shooting that took place on the college campus in 2007, and even the horrific Oklahoma City Bombing that Timothy McVeigh orchestrated in 1995. But there is one event in particular that was even more heinous and stranger than any of those the Jonestown Massacre. It was after several moves starting in the Midwest and ending in the Westcoast that Jones decided that the Peoples Temple needed to emigrate from San Francisco to Guyana in order to escape what he believed to be creeping fascism in the United States. Jones was a Marxist after all so there was always that need to rebel against America and its capitalistic ideas (Russell 39). And the communist utopia that Jones and the Peoples Temple had created (Jonestown) began to flourish. It had seemed that the utopia Jones had always envisioned was now reality. The members of the Peoples Temple began to feel at home because it was a place where anyone no matter what race, gender, or even age could live in perfect harmony with one another. In fact during its first phase of existence it could actually be considered a proper socialist community from the point of view of a true political scientist (Latson). And it was not until the late 1970s that Jim Jones and Jonestown began to crumble which could only be explained by Jones unusual metamorphosis. Nobody really knows for sure what happened to him when he and the Peoples Temple had left the United States to build their community in Guyana, but it would be something that would end up destroying not only himself but everything he and the Peoples Temple had created. • 6. The Value Of Values For A Human Life Life is just a bowl of cherries. After our birth, we go to school and subsequently work until we die with no further progression. Finality in death does not often motivate people to sway from this monotone, predetermined story. But it should. Our lives are blips in the grand scheme of things with no real significance or impact so how do we assign a value to human life? Is a construction worker more valuable than an inventor or a teacher? What can one do to be valuable even in the slightest? As controversial as deciding someone s life value is, putting a dollar value on that life arises as a more challenging topic. We must assign a dollar value to lives in the justice system. If not for our obsession with currency we might value people s lives all the same. We give power to pieces of green paper, therefore, justifying compensation for a human life. With many contributing factors to a person s value, one must consider sick or disabled people who simply cannot actively contribute to the future of mankind. Society should assign value to human lives based on whether a person reproduces or passes on wisdom in a monumental way. Although some people can be worth something without reproducing or passing wisdom on, having children and positively influencing the future is the sole biological purpose of the human race. Happiness can lead to a valuable life. In spite of this, your own happiness will be forgotten eventually or maybe not even remembered at all. Humans busy themselves ... Major changes in technology had a huge impact on the war and it made the war much more difficult and complex to fight and dragged on for four years. New improvements in technology had provided the attackers with new and powerful weaponry, technologies such as heavy artillery and machine guns which eventually led to trench warfare and then caused both sides to be in stalemate, and deadly gases were the major weaponry used in this war. The new technologies, mainly the machine gun, forced the war to become a trench warfare. World War I was the first war in which fixed trench warfare became the accepted method of fighting. Due to the advanced technological improvements in engineering and chemistry, many countries produced weapons deadlier than ever and this made the war impossible to win. Technology has become the order of the day where more and more businesses are heading towards that direction to have a competitive edge within the industry they best identify with. In light of this, conflicts are sometimes very challenging to comprehend, and theorists have also questioned the nature of the whole system to which all these complicating factors contribute. Many experts and scholars have argued that all these developments are characterized by a Complex Adaptive System (CAS). Most organizations are engulfed in planning activities such as formalized planning sessions that are of a strategic nature by design and to do this; business leaders tend to look for business intelligence, knowledge management and other methods that will enable them to have active planning sessions in real time to match the ever growing system. What then is Complex Adaptive System? To best define CAS, we need to understand what a system is. A system is defined as an assembly of elements hooked together to produce a whole in which the attributes of the elements contribute to a behavior of the whole ( Complex Adaptive Systems, n.d.). Examples of systems include the human body, galaxies, ecosystems, airplanes and computers. CAS is the study of natural systems and how they interact, adapt, and survive over time (Evans, 2015). • 22. Phantom Limbs Essay Phantom Limbs Phantom Limb Pain (PLP) is a serious condition that occurs when a person who has lost a part of their body though amputation, trauma (brachial plexus), or loss of nervous connections in an appendage, perceives that the limb is still there and experiences sensations coming from this area. It was first described in 1866 by S. Weir Mitchell, an American neurologist, through a short story published in Atlantic Monthly. While Mitchell may then have wondered if this was specific to wounded Civil War soldiers, it has since been established as quite common (1). Over 70% of amputees report phantom limb pain for years after amputation (2). Several theories have been proposed regarding PLP, although there is still much to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Data indicated that PLP is related to, and may be a consequence of, plastic changes in the primary somatosensory cortex, and that the shift of the cortical map following amputation might be a potential neurophysiological basis of PLP (6). Further studies in 1998 investigating the re mapping component in the brain were conducted by researchers at the University of Toronto and The Toronto Hospital. The study recruited amputees who experienced phantom pain for surgery to map the sensory areas in the brain. During the mapping process, the conscious patients reported sensations they felt when certain areas of the thalamus were stimulated. Patients reported phantom sensations when areas of the thalamus were stimulated that formally were innervated by neurons from the missing arm, and also when areas on the stump were stimulated that activated these reorganized regions in the brain. Neurons were shown to continue to carry out their original roles, but with different sources of activation (7). While persuasive, the aforementioned experimental conclusions are well critiqued by Ronald Melzack who argues against looking to the somatosensory cortex or thalamus as the only cause of phantom pain in his April 1992 Scientific American article. He states: Such changes in the somatosensory thalamus or cortex could explain why certain feelings arise in limbs that no longer exist or can no longer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The theme of madness is an essential piece in William Shakespeare s famous play Hamlet, the protagonist, Hamlet, who just lost his father, and having his uncle, Claudius marrying to his mother, Gertrude weeks after, he is very upset about the events and became very depressed. When Hamlet meets the ghost of his father, he decides to put an antic disposition on and started acting crazy as a part of his plan in order to discover if his father s been murder or not. From time to time, Hamlet s act of lunacy gets out of control and eventually caused him to lose his sense of reality and actually go insane, just like when he sees the ghost in his mother s room, but Gertrude did not see or hear a thing, and he starts to lose his logical sense at the end when he is talking to the Osric and his best friend, Horatio. Finally, Hamlet s antic disposition overtakes his rationality, controls him, and leads him to his downfall and many others around him. For example The Matrix is just one of many films that use more than one intertextuality in the film. By using intertextuality it helps send messages out that the audience will understand better from the dialogue. In the film The Matrix the main character Neo (Thomas Anderson), finds out that the world he is living in is controlled by false intelligence to hide the truth about the real world. Some references from this film are Alice in Wonderland and Plato s Allegory of the cave these films are used because of how both of these films use imaginary worlds and also machinery taking over society. These films all revolve around one metaphysical question, what is real? and both of these films have many similarities. Neo, who is the main character, is trapped in a false existence, which is crated by a computer program. The Machines created the program also took over the planet. In Plato s Allegory of the Cave is about a prisoner who is able to understand the difference between the reality of the cave and the real one out side of the cave. But both of these films revolve around the same metaphysical question, what is real? there are quite a few similarities that the matrix and the cave share. One of the biggest similarities is the fact that they both, Neo and the freed prisoner have to face the acceptance of the truth about themselves. Both of them have to accept the truth before they can learn the truth and about the essential truths. Neo and the freed prisoner need to experience proof that the senses are inadequate and that they can be systematically deceived before they can learn the knowledge they need. Both of the worlds in the stories are controlled by a greater power. For example, Plato s prisoners live in a cave that is controlled by the leaders, while Neo lives in a world that is controlled by the matrix. Many things we can observe and assess drive our decisions for plans of care. However, there are some things about our patients we can t see. Some things nobody would know under normal circumstances. How most medications are metabolized is predictable across the population, but some medications throw us a curve ball. Polypharmacy is a necessity in primary care. As primary care providers (PCPs) we see patients for both chronic and acute pathologies. Understanding metabolic pathways is expected of us as providers, but that doesn t make us invulnerable to poor outcomes despite best efforts. In the following ... Clarithromycin, a macrolide, is a known inhibitor of CYP3A4 which most likely further reduced clearance of the codeine. While the codeine is what caused the CNS depression that threatened our patient, it should be noted that the ineffectiveness of his SSRI he spoke of in our review of systems may also be attributed to our patient s possible status as an ultra metabolizer. Fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, and paroxetine are influenced by a few genes of the CYP450 enzymes but none more than CYP2D6. The ultra metabolizer phenotype of CYP2D6 causes the patient to have sub therapeutic concentrations of SSRIs causing decreased response. This report of central nervous system depression after the administration of recommended doses of codeine in a patient with a CYP2D6 ultra metabolizer phenotype supports genetic testing to assist in elucidating serious adverse drug reactions and in prevention of subsequent inappropriate dosing or drug selection. Genetics testing can give insight as to how our patients process the medications we prescribe them. Pharmacogenetics is a growing field with many benefits to the patient. • 45. Essay On Google Driverless Cars The biggest compliment you could possibly give the Google driverless car team is that experiencing their groundbreaking product feels utterly unremarkable. Dull, even. But there s more than meets the eyes. On October second 2015, Dave lee and a group of reporters were given an opportunity to ride in two of their driverless vehicles. The first was a modified Lexus that has been out on the streets around here for well over a year now, and is improving and learning every day as new scenarios are logged and analyzed by the team. This version, which is the most ready for the roads, though still years off, is essentially a normal car, except it drives itself. The second car was more interesting, and is a better reflection of where Google is ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No steering wheel. No pedals. Nothing really save for a couple of chairs with a control panel in between. The prototype was unveiled earlier this year, but we didn t hear much about it. Now, Google had set up an obstacle course on top of one of its buildings. Across the makeshift course were hazards a child on a bike, a car pulling out, a man walking aimlessly in front of the car. Naturally, the car dealt with all this impeccably. The group of reporters shared their ride with the Guardian s jemima kiss, and while Google wouldn t let Dave and the reporter s film or take pictures in the vehicle they did convince them to let them record their experience for that week s edition of Tech Tent. So why unremarkable? Well, like any good technology, the driverless car technology just works. As much as Dave like to write about the white knuckle Oh my gosh, there s no driver! ride he had in a prototype car, that really wasn t the case. It was slow. It was cautious. It was safe, a more attentive driver than any human could possibly ever be. The pod demo was in a highly controlled environment. • 46. Enterprise Industrial Relations Essay Todd (2012) has interviewed employer association representatives and examined their public statements and submissions. From her research, she questions whether the changes to the industrial relations system that employer associations advocate would enhance productivity. With regard to issues such as penalty rates and job security, there is evidence that these relate to cost cutting and enhanced managerial prerogative rather than productivity. Discuss Introduction During 2011 employer associations in Australia conducted an active lobbying campaign to introduce legislative changes with respect to industrial relations. Predominantly they were seeking to diminish the power of collective bargaining and increase managerial control under the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately employers indicate that unless businesses can become more flexible then in the long term there will be no work available at all (Pye, 2012). Statistical research by Eslake (2011) has established that for the last decade Australia has been experiencing a decline in overall productivity. This supports the main thrust of the lobbyists, who argue that rigid organisational pay and working conditions create an inflexible organisation which is not able to compete in the international environment. They argue that there is a direct correlation between increased organisational flexibility and productivity, and a number of large organisations in Australia have suggested that barriers to productivity include a lack of flexibility, increasing penalty rates, and restrictions on the use of contractors (Todd, 2012:350). They believe that these inhibitors should be addressed in amendments to the FWA in order to secure a productive future for Australia and the workforce in general. Challenges Todd (2012) questions the validity of these sweeping arguments made by employers seeking to challenge the FWA. She draws upon wider research which demonstrates that generalisations linking flexibility and organisational productivity should be treated with caution as the specifics of this within organisations are also correlated to aspects of leadership and organisational culture (Abernathy, 2011). In essence, small flexible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Entitlement In A Few Good Men Professor of American Literature Sarah Churchwell once said, People who are given whatever they want soon develop a sense of entitlement and rapidly lose their sense of proportion. In the famous movie A Few Good Men, Colonel Nathan R. Jessup, who is masterfully played by Jack Nicholson, exudes arrogance in his every action throughout the crime fiction thriller. Furthermore, Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee uses his late father s past occupation of United States Attorney General to obtain his own sense of entitlement and invincibility. Two independent scenarios occur in the film that support this theory of entitlement; three different decorated authors also contain evidence as to why this might be the case for Colonel Jessup and Lieutenant Kaffee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This scene refers to a situation early on in the film when Lieutenant Kaffee is late to a meeting with his fellow comrades. Unprepared and disrespectful, he is still assigned a case to defend two marines who have killed another. No punishment for neither being late to the meeting nor being unprepared and disrespectful to his equals. Zimbardo and Milgram alike would likely begin by both regressing to their previous points in proving that submission to a person causes the entitlement feeling in that person s mind; both of which concluded with these results in their respective experiments (Z M 84,113). However, specialized writer and editor, Kori Ellis, would refute that this is the only reason that Kaffee feels as entitled and invincible that he indeed feels. Spoiled kids often develop into self absorbed adults with a lack of self control and a major sense of entitlement, she writes. Furthermore, she illustrates that these spoiled children, as adults, carry this sense of entitlement throughout their lives causing them to be disliked and frowned upon in the work force (Ellis). Quick, concurring comments would likely be made by School Age Children Expert Katherine Lee when she discusses the effects on children as a result to a lack of discipline throughout her article, Surprising Reasons Why We Need to Discipline Our Children. Discipline is essential to a child s proper development and a lack of discipline is detrimental, she illustrates. This causes the child to struggle respecting others, similar to how Kaffee feels throughout the duration of the film especially coming to focus in the meeting scene discussed (Lee). Lieutenant Kaffee s father, as previously mentioned, was the attorney general of the United States: To put this in perspective, the only authority to this position is the President of the United States.
