Embezzlement In The Workplace
Worldwide, there are hundreds, if not thousands of crimes being committed everyday towards
businesses. Unfortunately, not all crimes committed are being reported or handled until it is too
late. Embezzlement is one of the many crimes that can affect any business. The first thing to
understand is the meaning of embezzlement. Embezzlement is the misappropriation of funds placed
in one s trust or belonging to one s employer. The difference between embezzlement and stealing is
that embezzlement is done from the inside.
Employee embezzlement can happen in any business. However, it affects smaller and newer
businesses in high numbers due to the fact that the employers do not have a steady foundation and
the proper personnel. Embezzlement is very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process may be strengthened through increased promotion of the hotline in company mailings,
internal communications, newsletters and company website. Some businesses will actually reward
the caller, if they choose to be identified later, with perks for calling in a reliable tip. Unfortunately,
not all business has an employee hotline.
It is unfortunate that many businesses have already suffered a huge lost and even closed its doors
forever based on the greedy of others due to greedy and personal issues. Embezzlement can be
considered a second degree felony based on the amount stolen and can be punishable with jail or
prison time, fines or both. This can vary depending on that state the crime was committed in.
In conclusion, Donnie Wright should have gotten more jail time based on the amount of money
taken from the business. Taking over $ 300,000 and only getting sentenced to 37 months is just
unacceptable even if he did plead guilty. This type of lost can ruin a business and affect hundreds
of business that bank with this company which would cause a bigger lost to the bank if investors
and companies pulled their money out and put it

Using Lucene And Clustering Libraries
egin{abstract} smallaselineskip=9pt Near miss reporting systems store events and hazardous
conditions reported by individuals to safety departments. This project develops a system matches
near miss events to similar events allowing an analyst to quickly find the number of prior events
and determine how they were audited. Result shows how frequently the near miss occurs. User
can have comparison resolution and analysis base on best similar records on safety auditing
process. Final system suggests the predicted matches based on first hits stream data; this has been
achieved by two step similarity functions, which built and developed similar incidents in web
platform using Lucene and Clustering libraries. The K means clustering and logistic regression
methods has been trained to be used real time to evaluate final safety scores categorized by labels,
and provided label matching in particular safety concept group(s). This combined methodology
presents measure of semantic similarity where request for both predefined human labels achieved
from previous resolution and implementations. Probabilistic model as similarity on a data set

Artificial Intelligent, Natural Language Processing
Abstract
We are living in a busy world. Everyone is trying to catchup with almost everything he can. As a
result we all need our own persona assistant to help us out everyday. But not everyone can afford it.
Intelligent Personal
Assistant is the answer for them. Artificial Intelligent is improving fast. And taking advantage of it
in our everyday life can make our life much easier. It can mimic basic things like a human
companion. In this paper we compared between currently popular Intelligent Personal Assistants.
What they can do and what they can not yet. Though they provide state of art features but there is
still many field to make improvement, like improved natural language processing so that we don t
have to use some predefined keyword to get answer.
Chapter 1
Introduction
With the breakthrough of speech recognition, natural language processing, semantic web and
machine learning we can safely say that the age of Intelligent Personal Assistant(IPA) is upon us. A
software agent that can do various task or service for a person is called Intelligent Personal
Assistant.
It depend on user input, location information and various online sources for information about
weather, traffic conditions, news etc. Currently there are many of such agent is available for
everyday use such as Google Now by
Google, Siri by Apple, Amazon Echo, Microsoft Cortana and Facebook s M.
The first fully functional IPA is Denise developed by NextOS formerly known as Guile3D. The

Nurse Ratched Women
There seems to be an uncanny similarity between all the men at ward. Most of the male patients
are tormented by a woman: Brombden s wife, billy s mom, nurse ratched, Mrs. Harding. Each of
these women are intent on dominating men by emasculating them. These female characters are
demonized as ball cutters because they do not adhere to traditional female roles and they
emasculate the male characters(Kesey 54). Take the poor Billy Bibbit a 31 year old is still very
dependent on his mother, Mother, I th th thirty one years old!...She laughed and twiddled with
weed. Sweet heart, do I look like the mother of a middle aged man? (Kesey 295) Ken Kesey was
certain on trying to show the condescension and manipulativity of Billy s mother. Which has

Another victim of masculine accusation is Nurse ratched, the head of the ward. She is often
described as a piece of machinery. Chief Bromden says, But down inside of her she s tense as
steel (28). The word steel makes one think of hard, cold machines and Nurse Ratched operates as
one. She must maintain order at all times. Nurse Ratched is able to exercise so much power in the
mental ward not only because she does not fit with traditional gender norms but because she
actively represses her femininity (). Nurse Ratched falls into the category of Iron Maiden due to
her powerful presence she is blamed for the pitiful death of Billy Bibbit(). Chief s observations
of her on the ward illustrate Nurse Ratched s domineering presence, but the readers know more
about the castration of husband and son through Chief s mother.Chief views his father s sacrifice
of his name is proof of the dominating nature of his mother. Whom is blamed for her husband s
alcolhalism and instutionlixation of her son. In reality the fate of these men is the result of their
own wrongdoing, neglect, and regret. Many critics defend the book as a stance of power and
presence, but truly it is a circle of blame on who is responsible for another s

A Short Walk On The Twilight
River stood interrupting Cinder s thoughts he announced, I do believe it s time to show Cinder the
underground clubs. They all agreed and stood to don their coats.
As they exited the building, River took a deep breath and glanced around at the night sky. The
temperature has risen, and I do enjoy the twilight only Russia can provide. How is everyone for a
short walk to the tunnel? Everyone glanced at Cinder, as the only mostly human she would be the
one to decide if she could handle the cold. I would love a walk in the twilight. Cinder did her best
to smile she wanted to enjoy tonight.
It was a very short walk, before they were entering a railroad tunnel; Cinder thought as short cuts
went it was rather dangerous. Hey guys, why are we walking into a railroad tunnel what if a
train comes? Cinder had Tazzy tucked under her arm covered by her coat when he popped his head
out and explained. This is not for trains; if you look closely you will see there are no tracks.
Cinder used her boot to clear away the snow in front of her as she walked closer to the entrance,
and found he was right there were no train tracks.
Shadow revealed, Once inside the tunnel, the lights will start to come on lighting our path until we
reach the stairs leading down. Then the lamplights from the underground area will light our way.
You will see that there are sidewalks lining the fronts of the clubs, along with a few restaurants, and
coffee houses. I do believe there is even a building that

Lack Of Success Between 1815 And 1848
Italian Nationalism s lack of success between 1815 and 1848 stemmed from four important reasons,
the main factor for lack of success was the Austrian Empire but was however not the only factor.
Other factors preventing Italian nationalism were, lack of national identity, divisions amongst the
nationalists and the church.
During 1815 and 1848 the Austrian rule within the Italian peninsula was brutal and repressive. The
Italian language had been banned in public life. Signs, law courts, newspapers and schools all had
to be in German the language of the Austrians, throughout regions directly ruled by Austria there
was also a network of spies and informers listening to peoples business to imprison suspected Italian
nationalists some of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pope feared Italian nationalism as he didn t want to lose control over the states of the church
and also the money the church created through taxation and pilgrms. The pope also opposed Italian
Nationalism as he felt sympathetic towards the Habsburgs and the Bourbons as they were the rulers
of southern Italy and the two most powerful royal families in Europe and he did not wish to
weaken them by supporting Italian Nationalism. The pope feared what he called a civil war the
Austrian Habsburgs, Spanish Bourbons and Italian Nationalists all followed the Catholic religion,
the pope would not condone a Nationalist Revolution in which Catholics killed Catholics.
furthermore the pope was a very conservative individual, therefore feared new ideas and social
change such as liberalism and socialism. the pope feared that Italian nationalism would lead to the
church being persecuted like it had been in the French revolution and because of this the Catholic
church in Italy threatened to ex communicate any Catholic found to be a member of any Nationalist
organisations, these factors throughout the church also contributed to the lack of Italian nationalist

Sexy Shiloh Analysis
Often, it is difficult to read a relationship and predict its trajectory. In Sexy and Shiloh the short
stories protagonists are the subjects of infatuation by their significant others. Sexy is the story of a
Bostonian woman named Miranda who has an unlikely affair with an Indian American man named
Dev. While the affair is the most daring thing that Mirandahas ever done, Dev seems to not think
much of the relationship, as he treats their time together as though it s part of a weekly routine.
Soon, Miranda mistakes Dev s physical attraction towards her as feelings of love as she buys a

cabin, She sits in the kitchen concentrating on her outlines, while Leroy plays with his log house
plans, practicing with a set of Lincoln Logs (240). Here, the differences and space between
Leroy and Norma Jean within their relationship is obvious. Norma has moved away from Leroy

is working towards a college degree and a higher intellectual level. Though, Leroy either does
not care for truly intellectual activities because instead of following his wife s interests he tries

The Three Troubled Troopers
One for all, and all for one. This quote, traditionally associated with Alexandre Dumas novel The
Three Musketeers exemplifies the quixotic camaraderie often associated with soldiers in war. This
camaraderie is challenged in Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five, a satirical novel that illustrates
the challenges the protagonist Billy Pilgrim faces during conflict. The book describes soldiers on
the same side acting hostile towards one another, with one soldier, Roland Weary, going so far as
beating up his companion Billy Pilgrim. Through the novel, Kurt Vonnegutasserts the reality of war
contrasts with the idealistic perception of it through the use of diction and imagery.

Vonnegut vividly describes Weary s view of the world: His vision of the outside world was
limited to what he could see through a narrow slit between the rim of his helmet and his scarf
from home, which concealed his baby face from the bridge of his nose on down (52). Vonnegut
describes Weary s vision as being constricted by a narrow slit . This narrow slit is representative
of Weary s narrow vision of the war as a whole. Weary cannot see the whole conflict but can only
focuses on his perceived exploits and how important he is in it. He chooses to see only what he
wants his dreamy perspective. Vonnegut also describes how unsuited Billy Pilgrim is to
fighting: He couldn t even walk right kept bobbing up and down, up and down, driving
everybody crazy, giving their position away (53). Vonnegut gives us an image of Billy as
limping up and down and not walking in an orderly, straight manner. This contrasts with the
quick, smart march often associated with soldiers. Billy Pilgrim doesn t fit our image of who a
soldier is, and Vonnegut uses his march to describe soldiers aren t nearly as coordinated as people
make them out to be. Vonnegut s description of soldiers, show that they aren t nearly as impeccable
as one might make them out to be, and contrasts the perspective of war with the far more imperfect
reality of

Reflection On African American Studies
Personal Reflection Introduction to African American Studies was the class that I decided to take
this summer because I am genuinely interested in learning more about the cultures and lifestyles of
African Americans through out history and I want to further my knowledge beyond just learning
about what was taught to me in secondary school. I do not know much about African American
studies as I have not taken any courses on it or relating to it in the past but I hope that I can gain
a lot of information on the topic through out this intellectual experience. I also hope to gain a
better understanding of the history of Africans and African Americas and be able to dive deeper
into this topic instead of just hitting the surface as I feel as though my previous experiences with
this topic have covered. In just this first weeks lesson I have learned about the three great
principles that characterize the Black Intellectual Tradition and how these three principles are used
and perceived. During my secondary education experience some of the things that I have learned
about the African or African American experience were the slave trade and slavery of Africans
during early American and that these slaves were used for things like farming, working in mills,
and servants to the rich, all against their will and most without any pay or human rights. I also had
learned about the equality movement in American during the 19th century and the movement to
abolish slavey and how this had lead

Religious Men Who Changed the World Essay
There are a ton of men who have changed the world in the past and now days. Some of the most
impactful men who changed the world spiritually were reformers. They stood up for what they
believed in and wouldn t back down no matter what. They were persecuted, made fun, out casted,
and put in jail with a trail. Some of these incredible men are George Wishart, Thomas Bilney, and
Ulrich Zwingli. George Wishart was born in the year 1513 in Scotland. He was tall with black
hair and a long beard. He attended University in France. He became a priest. In 1538 he became a
school teacher in Montrose, Scotland. He taught the New Testament in the Greek language. This

Thomas Arthur and Master Hugh Latimer. Bilney and Arthur went to London to preach to every
one they could. Bilney preached against a new and incomplete cross that had been erected,
calling it idolatrous, in Whitsun week 1527. They were both arrested and ended in the Tower
pending the pleasure of Cardinal Wolsey. December fourth Bilney was placed before Cuthbert
Tunstal, London s Bishop. This was only the first of many visits to the bishop over the next few
days. The bishop was amenable to several adjournments of sentence for heresy despite the
strength of the case. Bilney returned on the seventh saying he would abjure and return to the
Catholic Church s fold. In the Cardinal s pleasure he was sentenced to prison for his penance.
He was also ordered to be humiliated at St Paul s. After wards he was kept imprisoned for a year.

Spinal Imobilization In Emergency Medical Services
Spinal immobilization has been a common practice in Emergency Medical Services. The act of
spinal immobilization is normally used when a patient has suffered a significant trauma. Spinal
immobilization consists of securing the body to a rigid, long spinal board, securing the neck with
a cervical collar, and then lastly, securing the head to the board between towels or wedges.
Initially starting with the effectiveness of backboarding, continuing into the vital functions that
backbaording can impede and finalizing with the vacuum mattress versus the traditional
backboard. Ultimately, spinal immobilization of all trauma patients can do more harm than
good, and all cases should not be fully immobilized. Backboarding is currently still being used in
EMS, however is it as effective as it is believed to be? Recent studies have argued that
backboarding is not as effective as previously conceived. Nevertheless, there are steps that can be
taken to increase the effectiveness of spinal immobilization, however, those come with concerns as
well. Padding the voids, or the spaces that are commonly found behind the knees, lower back and
the head and neck, is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

According to DeMond, the Vacu Mattress provides an excellent spine protection surface. It can
be contoured to hold the head in place, and it often can be contoured or have forehead tape added
to block flexion, no c collar needed. And you have the added benefit of being able to visualize the
neck. (DeMond.) This device protects the spine and can prevent flexion, extension and lateral
movements of the neck. In addition to doing the same job of a long, spine board, the vacuum
mattresses are much faster in their application than a traditional long board and cervical collar.
They are much more comfortable for the patients, as

The Energy Generator Ofgem Announced
Energy, especially electricity, is vital in today s economy however demand for electricity is
currently so high that the available supply may not be sufficient over the next 25 years. Electricity
lights our homes, powers our technology and is a fundamental factor in everybody s day to day
lives.
In 2012, the energy generator Ofgem announced that Great Britain risks running out of energy.
(Business, 2012). In the United Kingdom, equipment which is used to generate electricity has
suffered from years of under investment. This has resulted in an inefficient system that distributes
energy across the country. Most of the UK s electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels. In
2010, Energy UK reported that the UK currently use 47% natural gas and 28% coal to supply the
countries power. (Energy uk.org, 2010).
In 2007, the United Kingdom Government agreed to an overall European Union target of
generating 20% of the European Union s energy supply from renewable sources by 2020. The
total of all renewable electricity sources provided for 14.9% of the electricity generated in the
United Kingdom in 2013, reaching 53.7 TWh of electricity generated. (Daley, 2015).
Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and
geothermal heat. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power,
hydroelectricity/micro hydro, biomass and biofuels for transportation. Solar power is recently

The Monarch Butterfly Essay

Finally, the butterfly hangs from the pupa about two hours while the wings dry (Emmel, 1999).
Monarchs do not have many predators expect for man. The monarch s trick to not being eating it
two hold. First, the coloring of the monarch mimics that of a wasp or a bee which makes predators
think twice before trying to eat them. Second, the milkweed plant in which the caterpillar eats has
toxins which make the wings of the butterfly distasteful to predators. The monarch butterfly drinks
nectar while the caterpillar eats the milkweed. The monarch favorite food here in Florida is
Asclepias ssp. or milkweed (Wexler, 1994). The migrating of monarch is because of the harsh
conditions on the northern US. They move south from areas of southern Canada and most of the
US to a few sites in Mexico (Grzimek s, 2003). They migrate itself usually takes three to four
generations of monarchs (Clattenburg, 2004). Scientists do not know why they migrate, but there
are different theories. The first theory is the change of light in fall (Clattenburg, 2004). While others
scientists claim the monarchs have a chemical in their bodies in which they are attracted to Mexico
where the congregate in certain trees (Clattenburg, 2004). The latter does not explain why
monarchs stay in Southern Florida as permanent residents (Emmel, 1999). Three different things are

Hummbert Love Lolita
I.Question/Issue Throughout the course of the novel, Nabokov mentions and references the theme
of love, specifically when he recalls on Humbert s feelings toward Lolita. As the narrator of the
story, Humbert uses love as a willful and tenacious justification for his pedophilic tendencies toward
nymphets like Lolita. As Lolita is only a young, undeveloped, and immature child, Humbert s
desire for Lolita is not only unreasonable and awkward, but also psychologically and physically
obsessive; he is unlike any other pedophile out here, as he experiences very little satisfaction after
fondling , kissing , and groping Lolita. In every description and detail of Lolita throughout the novel
, Humbert reminds the readers of his obsessive affinities which he has absolutely no control over
and the ones that constantly keep him wanting to come back for more. As a large portion of the
audience of this novel find the book to have the basis of lust , and a fair amount of other readers
believes it has the basis of love , the question of whether or not Humbert truly loves Lolita comes

Spanking Harmful To Children Research Paper
Is Spanking Harmful to Children?
Spanking, also known as corporal punishment is a highly controversial method of discipline that
parents currently use in an attempt to modify their children s misbehavior. This type of punishment
is not known to uplift the essence of education in children, and many parents and researchers feel
that spanking leads to developmental problems. Research studies show how spanking produces a
negative effect in children, and parents and caregivers should reconsider the use of corporal
punishment as a form of discipline for their children because of its harmful effects. In addition, there
are other, better alternatives that can be used to discipline children.

It just requires that the parent or caregiver makes it know that he or she acknowledges the child s
good behavior.
In summary, spanking and corporal punishment are two things that have many opponents. But
many argue that spanking will and can do more harm than good. According to some researchers,
spanking does cause negative effects on children. Some researchers even say spanking causes
permanent emotional and developmental problems.
Fortunately, we discovered a few alternative forms of discipline that work exceptionally well when
disciplining children. A stern look is a very effective one. Another, would be time out, removing the
child from the situation, in turn interrupting the unwanted behavior. One more would be the
removal of privileges. Taking away electronics for a short period of time is a very effective
consequence. Lastly, would be positive praise, encouraging phrases that motivate children to
behave well.
Just remember when disciplining a child it is to be done out of love to teach him or her a positive

Nursing Exemplar
Katherine Gallagher NU 310 Exemplar 2/21/2012 I arrived to work well rested and ready to

arrived to 7 East to find that the assortment of patients was not familiar at all. As I began getting
reports on my patients, one in particular I started to feel a little anxious and stressed. At first
glance I could tell I would be busy for the next twelve hours. Lynda was a 45 year old woman that

The look on Lynda s face was that of incredible confidence, I was truly impressed with her. By the
end of our second twelve hour shift, Lynda had learned how to suction herself. It was passed
along in report to simply encourage her independence in suctioning herself. Day three, my
mission was to teach Lynda the proper care of her PEG tube, and to continue with the
encouragement of her suctioning herself. After walking her though a bolus feeding in the
morning, she agreed to do the next one. Lunch time came around and sure enough, she was able
to complete the bolus feeding with minimum assistance. By the time came for the next feeding
she was going to get the can of food to do it herself when I had walked in the room. She laughed
and told me I was right that the PEG tube was a lot easier than suctioning. At this point in Lynda s
stay I knew that she would be going home soon. Later that evening, while discussing Lynda s
progress over the last few days with the physicians I asked them what the plan was and instructed
them that we needed to get nutrition, social work, and case management involved so that she
could go home. The physicians stated that they would place the consults that I requested but as for
discharge they were unsure about when this would happen because Lynda s brother doesn t think
she can care for herself on her own. I was shocked to hear this, the brother who I had not

Career Trajectory In Nursing
A career trajectory is a formalized plan for a successful transition into a career path that an
individual has chosen. Likewise, the goal of nursing is to improve health through the advancement
of knowledge therefore, improving the safety, effectiveness, and the access for healthcare. In
combining these two definitions, a career trajectory in nursing advancement is to allow for clarity
of direction and expected outcomes in a career by meeting the goals to advance in the healthcare
field. In order to build a successful career as an advanced practitioner an individual must consider
the requirements of the position and make strategic decisions in order to facilitate progression
towards this goal (Feetham Doering, 2015).

What Is Interpersonal Communication Essay
Interpersonal Communication
Introduction
Communication is simply the act of exchanging information from one place to another.
Interpersonal communication is the method by which people exchange thoughts, feelings, and
meaning in the sequence of verbal and non verbal messages: it is face to face communication.
Interpersonal communication is not just concerning what is truly said the speech utilized but how
it is said and the non verbal messages dispatched across tone of voice, facial expressions, gestures
and body language.
When two or more people are in the same locale and are cognizant of each other s presence, then
communication is happening, no matter how subtle or unintended. Other than speech, an observer
could be employing cues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These principles govern the efficiency of our communications; they may be simple to understand
but can take a lifetime to master.
Interpersonal Communication is not Optional
We could, at periods, endeavor not to communicate; but not conversing is not an option. In fact the
harder we attempt not to converse, the more we do! By not conversing we are communicating
something: perhaps that we are introverted, perhaps that we are irritated or sulking, perhaps that we
are too busy. Disregarding somebody is communicating with them, we may not notify them we are
disregarding them but across non verbal contact we wish to make that apparent.
We converse a lot more candidly through non verbal communication than we do with words. Our
body posture and stance, eye contact (or lack of it), the smallest and most faint of mannerisms are
all methods of conversing with others. Furthermore we are steadily being communicated to, we
pick up signals from others and understand them in precise methods and whether or not we
comprehend is established on how accomplished we are at interpreting interpersonal
communication.

Understanding Image and Visual Media Artifact Essay
Critically analyzing of visual media artifact investigates visual culture. An analysis entails image
interpretation of image equally applicable to genres of photographs as form of advertisement. In
this paper, I will critically examine photographs. According to Barrett (2011) he suggested that critic
starts with description that involves developing a list of facts concerning the subject matter within
the image. Description is a data gathering process of photograph(p. 17). It s also establishing a
typology of the photograph s content matter. Similarly Bathes (1977) suggest that all images are

especially with playgrounds and world around us. One that amazed me was about how everything
seemed so creative back in the day. They would use stuff as play items that I never even imaged
would be fun. Such as stated in the article, doing mad flips on a stack of filthy mattresses, which
makes a fine trampoline. At the other end of the playground, a dozen or so of the younger kids dart
in and out of large structures made up of wooden pallets stacked on top of one another. Reading
this part, I was like wow for people that left stuff laying around got kids make a use out of it. I
think it s significant because children are having fun using materials and their imagination.
Another thing is kids got excited when things were donated as stated in the quote kids seem
excited by a walker that was donated by one of the elderly neighbors and is repurposed, at
different moments, as a scooter, a jail cell, and a gymnastics bar. The second one being fire lit in
the playground. It s been shown to have a lot of benefits of fun. In London after World War 2

Candidemia Research Paper
Candida is a yeast responsible for the majority of the systemic fungal infections in humans. The
occurrence of nosocomial bloodstream infections (candidemia), has risen considerably in latest
years, [1] being the fourth pathogen isolated in blood cultures in the North America[2]. In
Europe, it ranks among the fifth to tenth most frequently isolated microorganism [3] and in a
global assessment of intensive care units (ICUs), the incidence of candidemia was found to be
6.9 per 1000 patients. Whereas general incidence of candidemia has raised, possibly due to a
growing number of patients with compelling diseases and risk factors for candidemia, health care
units such as ICU or stem cell transplant units have noticed a decrease in candidemia after using
fluconazole prophylaxis [4]. The list of risk factors is long, where immunocompromised patients,
such as those suffered from solid tumors or hematological malignancies are at the highest threat for
developing candidemia, also other well known risk factors include ICU stay, prolonged antibiotic
use or multiple invasive procedures. More lately, patients groups characterized by several
comorbidities, such as elderly, require for parental nutrition, are increasingly being documented as
being at risk of candidemia.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Deforestation is believed to be another major cause of global warming. The cutting and burning of
about 34 million acres of trees each year resulted in an increase of 25% carbon dioxide entering the
atmosphere Ismail et al. (2010). Environmental pollution is becoming more common in the urban
areas and has produced many negative environmental impacts to society. One of the effects is an
urban heat island phenomenon in which the temperature in urban areas is higher than the
surrounding area. Climate change not only gives impact to the environment but also to the natural
heating and cooling processes of buildings. The warmer outside temperature will affect the indoor
temperature and thermal comfort of buildings. When the outdoor air temperature increases,
buildings will experience indoor discomfort and this situation will lead to a higher demand for
mechanical ventilation and increased energy consumption in buildings. Various studies have shown
that passive and low energy cooling are the most preferred techniques used to minimise the solar
load and conductive daytime heat gain through the building. Climate change does not only give an

Now a days, the measurement of power quality components and electrical protection are becoming
more complex and costly also. As the rate of different equipments used in modern building and
industries are getting costlier. So very efficient and low cost electrical panel system is required
which can give continuous monitoring and measurement of power and also it can protect the whole
electrical system. As LabVIEW being worlds number one virtual programming software, this type
of electrical panel can be designed which will not only show different parameters but will also
protect the electrical system. The main components which are essential to show on electrical panel

Mudstone is a non granular sedimentary rock consisting majorly of silt and clay microscopic
particles. It forms when these particles settle down in a calm water body such as lakes, rivers,

exerting a compression pressure (The Geology Toolkit Team, 2006).
Clay is powdery grained rock occurring naturally. It is formed by the gradual chemical weathering
of larger rocks. In this case could be the above discussed rocks. Figure 1: A cross section profile of

Clay present on the site of construction would pose serious challenges due to its low strength and
stiffness, which would easily lead to failures in the foundation through cracking. However, borehole
analysis and the drawn profile shows that such would not arise as clay forms the major part to be

Limestone rocks pose serious problems to construction work due to the cavernous nature of its
bedrock. Its presence contributes to aquifer yield drop since it greatly changes subsurface drainage
patterns; it also has the potential to alter the groundwater condition when some of its mineral
components dissolve in the seeping water.

Essay On The Louisiana Purchase
On April 30, 1803, France sold 2,144,510 square kilometers of land to the United States of
America known as the Louisiana Purchase. The United States of America paid 15 million dollars
(about 283 million dollars today) in this treaty. The Louisiana Purchase was one of the most
crucial land tradings in the history. It provided territory for westward expansion and extended the
land area; however, it was opposed by many people at that time. At the same time, 15 million dollars
total was much more than the national financial capacity of the period. In any case, the Louisiana
Purchasewas so significant to the US because it gave them a better way of trading to foreign
countries and allowed the United Statesto become a much more extensive territory.
The Louisiana Purchase territory in that time was much bigger than the Louisiana Territory today.
In the Louisiana Purchase, Louisiana s territory started from the Mississippi River to the beginning
of the Rocky Mountains. The Louisiana Purchase territory included Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri,
Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, parts of Minnesota and Louisiana west of Mississippi River,
including New Orleans, big parts of North and northeastern New Mexico, South Dakota, northern

Adaptation Of The Film Industry
Article Critique: Adaptation in the Film Industry
From the very outset, it is worth noting that the article s central theme is the practice of
adaptation. Adaption is used in the article to describe the practice of transforming an already
existing work of art to come up with a new form of art. In essence, adaptation involves developing a
new work of art (such as a film) from an existing one (such as a novel or play). The new work of
art is said to have transformed or adapted the original. As such, it is inevitably referred to a
reproduction or adaptation of the original. In this sense, the focus of the article is on how different
artistic and literary works have been transformed into films through adaptation.
It is very evident that the author of the article was very passionate about the subject of adaptation.
This can be deduced from the manner in which he approaches the subject. Subsequently, it is only
logical to conclude that the issue of adaptation was a very interesting one at the time the article was
written. If for nothing else, then there is a high possibility that adaptation was an issue of great
concern (and even a source of controversy) among people in the film industry. Otherwise there may
have been come competing interests at stake. These competing interests may have pitted those
opposed to adaptation and those in support. Although the article does not say for real, it is highly
probable that those in the film industry supported adaptation while those in

Depression is caused by inequalities in societies that directly trickle down to the local people.
Disparities in the application of health care services and other social services have created
major gaps in the society. Ideally, the disparities have trickled down to the lifestyle of different

the effects are noted physically. In the above case, depression sets in due to the different conditions

Common Stock And Preferred Stock Essay
First: Equity
Common Stock and Preferred Stock are both methods of purchasing equity in a business entity.
Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not.
Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred
stock can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated
dividends and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the
case of liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt
Debt can be purchased from a company in the form of a bond.
A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a
certain amount, with interest, to the bondholder.
# Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital)
stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have
a creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have
a defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding
indefinitely

Analysis of Vindication of the Rights for Women by Mary...
A wise man once said Man is only great when he acts from passion. When you hear the word
passion, the first thing that might come to your mind is something related to love, and you re not
entirely wrong. According to Merriam Webster s dictionary, passion is defined as a strong feeling
of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something or a strong feeling (such as
anger) that causes you to act in a dangerous way. All in all, it is a strong feeling, be it happiness,
sadness, anger or liberality. You can be passionate about many things such as love, sports, food, or
intimacy. However, it can also mean having a strong yearning for something. Vindication of the
Rights for Women by Mary Wollstonecraftwas published in 1792,... Show more content on

Throughout her manifesto, Wollstonecraft points out that if women were only taught to please men
on a daily basis, men would grow tired causing the women to cheat. She also points out renowned
writers such as Jean Jacques Rousseau. Ten years before this, Jean Jacques Rousseau had
published his tell all called Confessions. This was during the Romanticism period, a period where
there was rejection of rationality and reason while in favor of feelings. There was more emphasis
on subjectivity, the way the individual perceives their experience. From reading Vindication, you
understand why Wollstonecraft wrote this. She claims that Rousseau s view towards women were
very double standard. He states that Women are smaller compared to men, both in their physical
frame and mental frame. So because of that, they should all be submissive towards men. Thus, the
prejudice of women being the weak and sensitive sex prevails. Both men and women, live their
lives believing that women are weak minded. At an early age society teaches that a woman s mind
is weaker than a man s mind, justifying it with the fact that a woman s body is weaker than that
of a man s. This conclusion seems fully plausible, however if investigated further, one will find
that that is not the case. A woman s mind is as fully capable of reason as a man s mind.
Wollstonecraft had two options to pick from. Either start a revolution in regards to women rights
and allowing them to be equal or to skillfully inject the

Trombone History
The trombone has a long, rich history dating back to the 1440s when it was introduced as a
sackbut. Throughout its history, the trombone hasn t had many significant changes in
construction, but the number of types of music that the trombone can play has rapidly increased.
From Leopold Mozart to Joseph Alessi, there have been many people who have had influence
and power of the instrument. This essay will explain the history of the trombone, features of the
trombone, and last my perception of the trombone. As stated earlier, a variation of the trombone
was invented in the 1440s called the sackbut. In comparison to the trombone, the sackbut is has
a much smaller bell measuring just over five inches. It was created by Flemish makers who
supplied them to the court of Burgundy. Sackbuts were built on the idea of the slide trumpet, and
the main difference was is that it had a double slide just like the modern trombone. People wanted
a more powerful and fuller sound, so they tweaked the slide trumpet and called the it the sackbut.
It was first used to play in alto capalla wind bands in order to play courtly dance music. This was
just the start of the long history of the trombone, and would soon blossom.... Show more content on

showed that the nation was strong and wealthy, however that job was not as prestigious as the ones

John G. Neihardt s Black Elk
A little background I found on the author, John G. Neihardt, was that when he was little he
moved around in the west a lot. While he was travelling in the west, after meeting his wife, he
ran into Nicholas Black Elk, the Ogalala holy man, and would bring his visions to the world.
The original book was published in 1932, and sold millions all over the world. The idea of the
book was to recognize that not all Native Americans are going to kill you, and that it could
introduce the idea of dreams with perceptive understandings. Standing Bear was in the room where
the writing was taking place as a witness to tell that everything was true. While Neihardt was
writing the book him and Black Elkbecame incredible friends and their friendship lasted... Show

He tells stories about how there was a time when the tribe was moving to a new location and it
happened to be in Soliders Town where six bands of Ogalala tribes were there to hunt, and while
they were there the white men had threatened to hurt a little boy who had gone and cut off a part of
their flagpole. While this incident is happening, Red Cloud is trying to make peace with the
white men so they aren t enemies. In the book Black Elk talks says in the book That winter one
of our boys climbed the flagpole and chopped it off near the top. This almost made bad trouble;
soldiers surrounded us with their guns; but Red Cloud, who was living there, stood right in the
middle without a weapon and made speeches to the Wasichus and to us. (Neihardt 48) He talks
about chiefs he saw that day, and which ones he thought were pretty great, such as Crazy Horse
and Red Cloud. He talked about the Ogalala tribe and how they wanted to move places and hunt
buffalo in a different area, and that was why he was in Soldiers Town at the time. Black Elk speaks
of another time when he had a vision while he was away from his camp and he wasn t sure what
to do at the time so he kept doing his thing. He tells of a story he had with his father while they
are out hunting, where he tells him to wait for the animals to come to him and not chase the
deer. He says Then the queer feeling came back, and I said without knowing why I said it: No
father, stay here; for they are bringing them to us. He looked at me hard again, and said; All right
son. So we lay down there in the grass and waited. They did come to us, and my father got two of
them. I found it interesting that he included this story considering that he has visions about animals
and whatnot. Black Elk speaks of a time when he was young and fishing; having what they would

Essay about COL Prescott’s Command in the Battle of...
The award winning novel by Stephen Ambrose, Band of Brothers: Easy Company, 506th
Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler s Eagle s Nest, discusses one of the greatest
examples of mission command in the form of 1st Lieutenant Richard Winters and his role in the
Brecourt Manor Assault. This battle is a textbook example of how to fight against a superior enemy
force that outnumbered the unit by four times as much. Facing overwhelming odds with just 16
paratroopers against over 60 German Soldiers, 1LT Winters nevertheless prevails and succeeds in
achieving his objective while minimizing casualties to just three Soldiers lost. Looking back further
into the American Revolution, the Battle of Bunker Hillon the American side is one of... Show more

COL Prescott s understanding of operational variables (PMESII PT) and mission variables
(METT TC) contributes to his mission command effectiveness. In Battles of the Revolutionary
War (Wood), COL Prescott demonstrates his grasp of these variables by determining the British
forces strength, the morale condition of his own men and the effective location from which his
orders say defend. The 6000 British soldiers training and equipment outstrip the colonists in
every aspect. To deny the British from seizing Dorchester Heights, COL Prescott s understanding
of the current situation gave way to his effective planning that was effective in his visualization
of the defense mission. COL Prescott s tactical mind shows that the British would overwhelm the
colonists through sheer force alone. The novel Patriot Battles: How the War of Independence
was Fought (Stephenson, page 211) describes the end state that COL Prescott works to achieve
was to hold off the British forces through a stealthy defense fortification of Breed s Hill, rather
than Bunker Hill. The decision for going against higher orders reflects on COL Prescott s tactical
ingenuity as Breed s Hill was closer to the waters and the colonists could mount a more effective
defense and to keep the pressure on the

Three Sociological Perspectives
Throughout history various social perspectives have been observed in an attempt to explain and
classify different types of sociological behavior. Various theories have been made regarding the
sociological perspective, which examines the social contexts that people live in and how these
contexts effect the individual and society (Henslin 2). Each sociological perspective examines
something different and poses a different theory. Discussed here are three sociological
perspectives: the functionalist perspective, the conflict perspective and the feminist perspective.
All three perspectives are forms of social institutions or the ways that a society meets its basic
needs (Henslin 104). However all three perspectives give us quite different views... Show more

Published in a women s Studies Journal in December of 2015, Tracy Bowell explains this issue
by bringing to light the lack of women in almost every aspect of philosophy describing, .. three
connected, but different problems: the absence of women from the discipline of philosophy
[such as] teachers, researchers, the absence of women from the discipline [such as] its
discourses, the texts, debates, problems and the problem of the marginalization of feminist
philosophical work. She goes on to state, the nature of feminist philosophy has been seen as a
potential threat to philosophical core values. (Bowell 18). This is a perfect example of both anti
feminism and the conflict perspective. According to this article, women are still being treated
unequally and one has to just take a look at the entire field of philosophy both in its literature
and teaching in the classroom to see how. Bowell states females are being held in check by the
opposite sex as a seeming attempt to keep the balance of power tilted to the male side. This is
also seen as an act of preserving the social order by the continued absence of women from
philosophical texts, and imbalance of women philosophy teachers, and as women in philosophy
being seen as a threat to philosophical core values this is a great example of how the powerful or
privileged positions (in this case, the male gender in

Colonists Vs Loyalists
On the road to the American Revolution, the colonists could either choose to be a loyalist or a
patriot. It all depends on how that certain colonist thought was better for their family. themselves,
and the rest of the colonies. When thinking of the loyalist, people might think that there were a lot
of them but really only 20% of the population of the colonies were loyalist. They lived in all
colonies, both rural and urban areas. Some areas had more loyalist like New York and the
Carolinas. They were appointed by the crown, successful merchants, Quakers because they were
pacifist, and many more. Germans, Native and African Americans, and indentured servants were
mostly loyalist because Britain promised their freedom for the loyalty. The loyalist

In just this first weeks lesson I have learned about the three great principles that characterize the Black Intellectual Tradition and how these three principles are used and perceived. During my secondary education experience some of the things that I have learned about the African or African American experience were the slave trade and slavery of Africans during early American and that these slaves were used for things like farming, working in mills, and servants to the rich, all against their will and most without any pay or human rights. I also had learned about the equality movement in American during the 19th century and the movement to abolish slavey and how this had lead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An analysis entails image interpretation of image equally applicable to genres of photographs as form of advertisement. In this paper, I will critically examine photographs. According to Barrett (2011) he suggested that critic starts with description that involves developing a list of facts concerning the subject matter within the image. Description is a data gathering process of photograph(p. 17). It s also establishing a typology of the photograph s content matter. Similarly Bathes (1977) suggest that all images are polysemous (p. 38) because of the subject matter, hence creation of complexity for visual reader in making decision what aspect to read, pay... Analysis Of Overprotected Kid By Hanna Rosin Play Project In the article of the Overprotected Kid written by Hanna Rosin, gives some informational stuff to think back on and all the way to present time. The article gives you something to think about especially with playgrounds and world around us. One that amazed me was about how everything seemed so creative back in the day. They would use stuff as play items that I never even imaged would be fun. Such as stated in the article, doing mad flips on a stack of filthy mattresses, which makes a fine trampoline. At the other end of the playground, a dozen or so of the younger kids dart in and out of large structures made up of wooden pallets stacked on top of one another. Reading this part, I was like wow for people that left stuff laying around got kids make a use out of it. I think it s significant because children are having fun using materials and their imagination. Another thing is kids got excited when things were donated as stated in the quote kids seem excited by a walker that was donated by one of the elderly neighbors and is repurposed, at different moments, as a scooter, a jail cell, and a gymnastics bar. The second one being fire lit in the playground. It s been shown to have a lot of benefits of fun. The occurrence of nosocomial bloodstream infections (candidemia), has risen considerably in latest years, [1] being the fourth pathogen isolated in blood cultures in the North America[2]. In Europe, it ranks among the fifth to tenth most frequently isolated microorganism [3] and in a global assessment of intensive care units (ICUs), the incidence of candidemia was found to be 6.9 per 1000 patients. Whereas general incidence of candidemia has raised, possibly due to a growing number of patients with compelling diseases and risk factors for candidemia, health care units such as ICU or stem cell transplant units have noticed a decrease in candidemia after using fluconazole prophylaxis [4]. The list of risk factors is long, where immunocompromised patients, such as those suffered from solid tumors or hematological malignancies are at the highest threat for developing candidemia, also other well known risk factors include ICU stay, prolonged antibiotic use or multiple invasive procedures. More lately, patients groups characterized by several comorbidities, such as elderly, require for parental nutrition, are increasingly being documented as being at risk of candidemia.... Environmental pollution is becoming more common in the urban areas and has produced many negative environmental impacts to society. One of the effects is an urban heat island phenomenon in which the temperature in urban areas is higher than the surrounding area. Climate change not only gives impact to the environment but also to the natural heating and cooling processes of buildings. The warmer outside temperature will affect the indoor temperature and thermal comfort of buildings. When the outdoor air temperature increases, buildings will experience indoor discomfort and this situation will lead to a higher demand for mechanical ventilation and increased energy consumption in buildings. The United States of America paid 15 million dollars (about 283 million dollars today) in this treaty. The Louisiana Purchase was one of the most crucial land tradings in the history. It provided territory for westward expansion and extended the land area; however, it was opposed by many people at that time. At the same time, 15 million dollars total was much more than the national financial capacity of the period. • 34. Adaptation Of The Film Industry Article Critique: Adaptation in the Film Industry From the very outset, it is worth noting that the article s central theme is the practice of adaptation. Adaption is used in the article to describe the practice of transforming an already existing work of art to come up with a new form of art. In essence, adaptation involves developing a new work of art (such as a film) from an existing one (such as a novel or play). The new work of art is said to have transformed or adapted the original. As such, it is inevitably referred to a reproduction or adaptation of the original. In this sense, the focus of the article is on how different artistic and literary works have been transformed into films through adaptation. It is very evident that the author of the article was very passionate about the subject of adaptation. This can be deduced from the manner in which he approaches the subject. Subsequently, it is only logical to conclude that the issue of adaptation was a very interesting one at the time the article was written. If for nothing else, then there is a high possibility that adaptation was an issue of great concern (and even a source of controversy) among people in the film industry. Otherwise there may have been come competing interests at stake. These competing interests may have pitted those opposed to adaptation and those in support. Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not. Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated dividends and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case of liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt Debt can be purchased from a company in the form of a bond. A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain amount, with interest, to the bondholder. # Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital) stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). All in all, it is a strong feeling, be it happiness, sadness, anger or liberality. You can be passionate about many things such as love, sports, food, or intimacy. Throughout her manifesto, Wollstonecraft points out that if women were only taught to please men on a daily basis, men would grow tired causing the women to cheat. She also points out renowned writers such as Jean Jacques Rousseau. Ten years before this, Jean Jacques Rousseau had published his tell all called Confessions. This was during the Romanticism period, a period where there was rejection of rationality and reason while in favor of feelings. There was more emphasis on subjectivity, the way the individual perceives their experience. From reading Vindication, you understand why Wollstonecraft wrote this. She claims that Rousseau s view towards women were very double standard. He states that Women are smaller compared to men, both in their physical frame and mental frame. So because of that, they should all be submissive towards men. Thus, the prejudice of women being the weak and sensitive sex prevails. Both men and women, live their lives believing that women are weak minded. At an early age society teaches that a woman s mind is weaker than a man s mind, justifying it with the fact that a woman s body is weaker than that of a man s. This conclusion seems fully plausible, however if investigated further, one will find that that is not the case. A woman s mind is as fully capable of reason as a man s mind.
