The Importance Of Tragic Events In Mariatu s Life
Although I do not entirely relate to Mariatu or many of the tragic events that have occurred
during her life time, one event during Mariatu s life I do relate to is when she moved to Toronto.
Firstly, I relate to Mariatu during this event in her life because both Mariatu and I moved from
Africa to Canada. Now despite the fact that she moved to Toronto due to the war in her
homeland and moved at a much older age than I did , I do still believe we do relate in this
instance because we both had to leave our homelands that we were both very fond of so we could
receive a much better and more fair life. Also, as it states in the book Mariatu had a hard time
fitting into her new school. Although I did receive an educationin Africa and Mariatu did

Best Practices for Kitting and Sub Assembly
Best Practices for Kitting and Sub Assembly
Introduction
Let s talk about Best Practices for kitting and assembly. They mean different things depending on
your position within the supply chain. Many companies use kitting and assembly interchangeably
together but they are indeed different.
Manufacturers typically use the term assembly while wholesaling industry (comprised of 3PL and
distribution companies) use kitting. You are either combining raw materials to create a finished
good, or combining already finished goods into a larger group. Even if you have raw goods, you
can still kit for assembly. Kitting is for anyone who wants to combine group items together, build a
product, or make a master item.
If you are a distributor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Employees
When kitting is part of the process, assembly workers usually spend more time assembling and less
time walking around searching for components. The value add time contributed by assemblers is
therefore maximized. Another benefit that researchers who have academically studied kitting
operations have noticed is that new staff training costs and acclimation periods are reduced.
Quality
Kitting can have a very positive upside when tracking product and part quality. Part damage, due to
less handling will usually drop. This is especially important if the parts are either expensive or
perishable. Another area where quality improves is tracing and correcting defects. Kitting provides
the opportunity to have quality control verification earlier, reducing the possibility of wrong parts
or incorrectly assembled components being used in the final product.
A Caveat: the Dark Side of Kitting
Before we move on, let s look at the dark side of kitting. Like the other best practices for
warehouse and inventory management that we ve already discussed, you ll love the benefits if it is
done well. Product quality will plummet if it is poorly implemented and issues such as making kits
with missing or incorrect parts results.
When Kitting Goes Sideways
We ve looked at the benefits. Now, lets look at some of the negative issues that can arise if your
kitting isn t working quite as well as planned.

Historical and Ongoing Construction of Aboriginal Women in Canada as a Problem Population
In August of 2014, Tina Fontaine, a 15 year old from the Sagkeeng First Nation in Winnipeg, was
murdered. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper s response was not to regard it as a
sociological phenomenon but as a crime against an individual that should be investigated (Canadian
Press, 2014). Harper is virtually alone in this. Those demanding an inquiry and the treatment of this
singular murder as part of the larger concern of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a variety of theories that are useful in understanding this issue. The theories that will be
used here to explain the state of murdered and missing women in Canada and Harper s response to
it are societal reaction perspective and Spitzer s Marxian theory of deviance.
In order to understand the constructed identity of Aboriginal women in Canada today and in the
past, it is necessary to discuss ideas of empire, including Manifest Destiny and Terra Nullius.
These European concepts were and generally still form the ideology operating in Canada.
Expansion of the ruling class empire is taken for granted and divinely supported. This is the basis
for European exploration of the globe, claiming of already occupied lands and colonization of
existing peoples. Manifest Destiny was the 19th Century settler belief that it was their destiny to
expand throughout North America. Terra Nullius is the concept that land determined to be empty,
in other words not being used productively by a civilized people, could be occupied by those
Europeans who found it. Of course, both of these concepts belong to the ideology of European
empire expansion which indisputably devalued the existing Aboriginal communities. The French
and English settlers pushed their Christian beliefs onto Aboriginal peoples and succeeded in
altering Aboriginal communities from their matrilineal nature into

belonging speech
Belonging speech
Good morning/Afternoon teachers and students today I will be showing you how a sense of
belonging or not belonging greatly influences an individual s identity. A change in identity occurs
when belonging is found through meaningful, intimate relationships, with senses of place,
community, safety and familiarity. The free verse novel, The Simple Gift, composed by Steven
Herrick, the dramatic fairy tale film, Edward Scissor hands, directed and created by Tim Burton
and the novel Matilda composed by Roald Dahl, all explore the concepts of belonging and
relationships through the strong use of literary techniques; and focus on a changing Identity as a
base for belonging. All texts have significantly different perspectives of ... Show more content on

Billy develops another significant relationship with Caitlin, a wealthy girl who is smart enough to
realise none of this means anything , because like Billy, she values a lack of material possessions,
and dislikes the identity associated with being wealthy. Billy s relationship with Caitlin provides
him with a sense of belonging to friendships.
Edward scissor hands tells us a story about an artificial man, Edward Scissor hands , who was
made by a lonely inventor who lived on top of a hill near a small town. Long after his inventor s
death, Edward is brought into society by Meg, a local resident and encounters many new and
interesting things as he attempts to belong in civilisation. This film explores concepts of belonging
to groups or communities and a sense of belonging in relationships shown by Edward s endless
struggle to find clarity and purpose.
A sense of isolation can come from ones difference to others, whether it is physical mental or
spiritual. Edward s hands made out of sharp scissors are iconic of his separation from the rest of
society. They create a physical barrier between him and others which greatly limit the amount of
physical contact Edward can have with others and the rest of the world and in turn creates a sense
of isolation. This is carefully and noticeably communicated by Burton by the use of colour and
contrast, specifically Edward s initial costume is completely black leather, decorated with metal
studs and rings. His hair is

Essay on Stereotypes of Hispanic Women in Cinema
The Latina women, even throughout the era resistance cinema, have not been able to make much
progress in overcoming the degrading stereotypes that Hollywood has created for them. Despite the
many advances that minorities have made in the cinema in recent years, Latina actresses still take
on the roles of the dark skinned lady and other such stereotypes with strong sexual connotations. It
is often debatable whether or not the role of the Latina has undergone dramatic changes since the
days of Dolores Del Rio and Carmen Miranda dancing with the fruit baskets on top of their heads.
However, in recent years there has been an emphasis by various Latinas in the film industryto
combat such stereotypical rolesand redefine themselves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This character began to appear in the 1930 s, at the same time that an audio component was
introduced into cinema. The audience was not however interested in the voice of the vamp but
rather for her appearance and sex appeal. She was often depicted as exotic and sensual. As Tara
Osorio writes, In early cinema, Hollywood represented Latinas as ignorant, and valued their
striking appearance and figure rather than their intelligence, character, and personalities. (Tara
Osorio) With the introduction of musicals into cinema, there were many opportunities for vamp
roles. There were three particular women in early cinema who were infamous for portraying the
vamp character. Carmen Miranda, Dolores Del Rio, and Lupe Velez were typecast in such roles
and were seen in the majority of films produced in these decades.
This character represented an image that was offensive and insulting to many. The character did
not have many diverse elements and was a rather one dimensional figure. It was even more
damaging when you take into account that the same role was repeated, often by the same actress
in a myriad of films. As one actress Rita Moreno describes after she had played a similar spitfire
character fourteen times in eleven years.
It s really demeaning after you ve won the Oscar to be offered the same role over and over again.
They only wanted me to drag out my accent and dance show over and over again. (pg.174, Hadley

Bicycle Thief Essay
The Bicycle Thief The Bicycle Thief is probably the best known and most highly praised of all
the Italian Neorealist films of its era. The films of the Neorealist movement were characterized
by several primary ideas. Instead of featuring stories focusing on glitz and glamour, Neorealist
films focused on the poor and the working class. Instead of building and fabricating complex sets
to film on, they did their filming on location. And instead of trying to get the most well known,
highly paid celebrity actors, they frequently used people that weren t even professional actors and
had no training for their starring roles. This all helped lend a sense of realism and weight to the
stories. The Bicycle Thief takes place in Rome during a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

up empty handed. The scene where he and his son are caught in the rain, soaked and

hopelessness of his situation. After trying everything he can think of to get any leads on the
thief or the location of his bike, go so far as to even spend what little money he has left on a
fortune teller, he happens to bump into the thief in question walking down the street. He chases
and finally corners him, but the thief refuses to confess anything and his family and friends

point of desperation, Antonio realizes he has no choice left but to stoop to the lowest level and
steal a bike if he doesn t want his family to starve. He tries to snatch one but is almost immediately
taken down by witnesses and held until the police arrive. Seeing Antonio s son distraught and in
tears, the man doesn t press charge and lets him off the hook. Antonio and his son walk off, both of
them in tears, completely hopeless and beaten by society at every turn. This is what Italian
Neorealism is all about. For millions upon millions

Essay about The Representation of Power in Cormier s The...
Inspired by the actions of his son, Robert Cormier decided to write this novel titled The
Chocolate War. Cormier s son Peter, had refused to sell chocolates at his school s annual sale as a
matter of principle (Kemp1), so Cormier thought that it would be an interesting plot for a book. In
this book, Robert Cormierintroduces us to many characters that personify evil in order to try to
control and manipulate each other to gain power. The concept of power is represented in many
different ways throughout this novel. In this paper I will explain how power is represented in The
Chocolate War, and how it works. I will explain the different kinds of power that operate in the
school. Also I will explain whether the protagonist Jerry Renault... Show more content on

In chapter 3 we are reminded that The Chocolate War is also a coming of age novel. When Jerry
looks at the pornographic magazine, he is now beginning to want to know and understand the
processes of adolescent and adulthood. So he buys a magazine with the curiosity of what kind
of satisfaction the other kids were receiving by glaring at the images in the magazines. He is in
that stage of wanting to be accepted. Cormier made Jerry s character out to be an outcast, being
the one that would always get beaten up by the bully. Which proved to be correct when Emile
Janza, the school s bully begins to pick on him. Although Emile was the school s bully he too,
respected the Vigils to a certain extent. Archie was also a bully, but he bullied the minds of the
other kids. He did not resort to physical abuse but he indeed psychologically bullied people
including Emile Janza.
Fear also played a factor throughout this story. Fear is what made the Goober go into Brother
Eugene s room and loosen all of the screws from the furniture. This brings us back to the
psychological bullying of Archie, because the Goober was mentally sick when he found out that
the actions of his assignment had made Brother Eugene sick. The other students were also
frightened by the Vigils so they to carried out any assignments that they were given. This story is
written with a lot of hidden symbols and meanings within the events that occur. Jerry also feared the
Vigils at first but as the story

The Importance Of Web Based Communication
The most fundamental method of human expression is communication through both verbal and
non verbal means. As technology, has rapidly developed over the past two decades, and
continues to evolve at a staggering pace leading into the future, people have taken to the World
Wide Web (WWW) as an extension of basic communication capability. WWW communication
allows people to quickly reach out to one another throughout the course of a busy day. As a result
of enhanced communication capability, and a surge in use of communication over the WWW,
areas of private professional and public political life have seen substantial change in recent years.
Positive Public Attitude The daily routines of many individuals have only gotten more hectic in
recent years, despite the advantages of having increased technology. As such, it has become much
more difficult for the average worker to simply reach out with a phone call, or stop in for a face to
face conversation with other professionals. To assist the busy lives of individuals, web based
communication, through secure means, has become more prevalent. From communicating with a
utility company about an electric, water, or gas account, to seeking medical advice from a family
doctor, secure messaging systems are making their mark. A study of forty three physicians was
conducted six months following the implementation of a secure messaging system called Patient
Gateway (PG) to quantify if using secure messaging produced positive results

product. To do this, they use different methods of advertising. Also, both companies target
different audiences. When all is said and done, they have varying degrees of success in doing so.
Advertising is a fundamental force in today s society, and because of this, companies must provide
the most effective commercials with presentation of as many logical appeals as possible.

Human Trafficking And The Trafficking
Human Smuggling and trafficking continues to be a worldwide plague that has been, thus far
been largely ignored by the international community. The paramount reason human trafficking
and smuggling has festered and grown roots and spread globally. It started as a grassroots effort
on the local level where women and girls (it affects boys as well) would be used and sold for
sex. Eventually, greed and corruption tagged along for the ride and at that point the crimes became
an organized enterprise. At that point the crimes grew exponentially and spread worldwide and
infested every crevice and nook on earth, no matter how small and insignificant it may. A stellar
example of this the systematic rape, torture and killing of women of Yazidi Christian women in
Iraq and the other region of the Middle East. The ideology behind ISIS would be jihad and anti
Western propaganda, however, whether the motivation be money, drugs, or as in human smuggling,
illegal immigration, the world at large must annihilate it.
Human smuggling and human trafficking are two distinct crimes that, the further down the food
chain each go, the lines do get murky and tend to melt together. Law enforcement from around the
world have often thrown up their hands at the crimes because of the web of complexities involved.
The law enforcement community at times have plum run out of resources and manpower to devote
to the crimes. Human smuggling differs from human trafficking in as it requires payment, consent,

Pest Analysis
INTRODUCTION
This chapter identifies the main external influences on the UK market for private security and fire
protection, using the four headings of a PEST analysis: political, economic, social and technological.
Where such influences have more than one dimension, they are considered under the heading that
is considered to be the most relevant.
POLITICAL FACTORS
The Terrorist Threat
Precautions against terrorist attacks have been stepped up since the events of 11th September 2001,
and there is strong demand for security services and equipment in the public sector. The UK, and
especially London, has been on a high level of alert since the war in Iraq. Some of the UK s export

The concept of Neighbourhood Wardens has been judged successful by the Office of the Deputy
Prime Minister
Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, which is helping to finance some of the schemes between 2000 and
2005.
Neighbourhood Wardens provide a uniformed, semi official presence in residential areas, with the
aim of improving the local quality of life. They can provide community safety and assist with
environmental improvements and housing management. Street Wardens are similar to
Neighbourhood
Wardens, but they have a greater emphasis on environmental problems, such as litter, graffiti and
dog fouling. Their role is also to deter anti social behaviour, to reduce the fear of crime and to
foster social inclusion.
Minimum Wage and Working Time Legislation
The National Minimum Wage was introduced in April 1999, and a European
Directive on working hours and holidays came into force in October 1998.
The UK was able to introduce a voluntary opt out of the 48 hour week, but the UK regulations are
to be tightened and opinions seem to be divided as to whether this is to the long term benefit or
detriment of the guarding sector.
Outsourcing of Police and Public Sector Security Work
A growing proportion of police and public sector security work is being outsourced to private
security firms, and this `civilianisation is expected to continue. Private firms already have a well
established role in the operation of private prisons, the monitoring of tagged

Qualitative Data Collection Paper
Qualitative Data Collection Within a quantitative study, the research is completed to seek some
type of verification, but within a qualitative study the research is completed to seek a deeper
understanding (Capella University, 2017c). For instance, Hoelscher et al. (2016) used a survey
method to verify how the students commuted to school, and they received weather reports for
specific dates and locations for data collection. In contrast, if Hoelscher et al. (2016) study was
conducted using qualitative methodology, it would be designed as a multiple case study design. A
multiple case study design is an evaluation of multiple systems that are studied and compared to
one another over time (Capella University, 2017b). The multiple cases being... Show more content

Interviews and focus groups would be conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the effects of the
grants. They would be conducted with the school staff, the funders, and the participants of the
study. Observations in the field would include seeing how the students commuted to school and
how the new building structures or implemented plans were influencing their commute. Lastly, a
review of documentation and reports that shows the efforts being made with the grants and how it
is helping and ensuring protection/safety of the participants involved.
Ethical Concerns The main ethical challenge that is presented in this study if changed from a
quantitative to a qualitative research design is the respect and protection of the participants. The
studies focus is on ensuring safety for the students as they commute to school. The study begins
with the students being as young as 9 years old. That may cause a problem when conducting a
qualitative study over a course of three years. Qualitative study collects non numerical data through
words and narratives, therefore, it is important to ensure that protective actions are in place to
address this ethical concern.

Paintings In Medieval China
Paintings in medieval China included landscape painting, delicacy painting, spontaneous painting,
figures and illustration along with calligraphy. The landscape paintings are wordless poems that are
meant to be read from bottom to top, often representing the harmony between heaven and earth, yin
and yang. These paintings often have a high point of view and are full of ambiguity and indirect
meaning. Landscape paintingalso features mountains in the middle and background and water
dominates the foreground and unites all grounds. If figures are included, they are small and
insignificant which is reflective of the Taoist/Buddhist idea that we are all part of nature,
inseparable from it, and not more important than any element of nature. Often the painting includes

Chinese painting tradition. These paintings were a scholarly and religious activity, an act of
meditation meant to help a scholar work through a religious or philosophical idea. These
paintings may also feature ink paintings with calligraphic lines; simple scenes presented in an
abstract style such as flowers, birds, trees or bamboo. The figures and illustration paintings had
subjects outlined in ink and filled with color, they had very little in the way of background and
were very flat. Often these were portraits of important people or illustrations of religious or secular
texts or stories. Calligraphy was used as a central element of paintings and was an extremely

A Brief Note On The Railroad, Trucking And Air Industry
Throughout the development of the United States and its economy, transportation has been the
catalyst as well as sometimes the prohibitor of growth from industry to industry and region to
region. As supply chains have become more globalized, so has the need for a more efficient and
accessible transportation infrastructure within the country to allow greater access to newer
markets overseas. By having such a crucial role in U.S commerce over the years, there has been
fluctuations in the amount of regulation drawn up by the government and enforced by federal
agencies and the courts. In this case, the railroad, trucking and air industry s have reflected the
national trends of regulation and deregulation movements over the last 15 years. Soon after the
first transcontinental railroads were federally subsidized and created in the 1860s, concerns
arose over cases of predatory practices being carried out by certain rail companies. This was
made possible in part by the monopolization taking place within the industry. Jay Gould, a
wealthy man at the time who was a leading developer and speculator of railroads, possessed
much control over rail activity. Such control created challenges for local economies of particular
cities like St. Louis. For example, in 1881, Gould controlled Eads Bridge, the main bridge crossing
the Mississippi River from Illinois into the city of St. Louis. Gould charged high tariffs which
caused rail companies to re reroute up through Chicago, ultimately

Animal Abuse In America
It seems like nowadays nearly everyone in society knows something about the abuse. If not, abuse
is a somatic or physiological form of harm. It also seems that more and more people are getting
concerned about animal abuse, and promptly because of that, there are more foundations to help
rescue animals, and nurture them back to health. However, animals around the globe are still not
getting rescued and are getting abused. In order to be fully acquainted about animalabuse, the
common types of animal abuse, and the causes of animal abuse must all be explored, as well as the

Some would say the simple solution would be to turn off the TV, but that wouldn t solve the
problem of marketers attempting to condition consumers either. Advertising accounts 2/3 of the
space in newspapers and 40% of all mail, [Kirsch, T.]. This would seem to go against my research
that Affluenza can be prevented. But on the opposing with all of these advertisements one can shop
around, compare the prices and find the best deals for him or her using the marketers plan against
them and finding the best quality product that fits ones resources, and standard of living. Although,
marketers are in the business of promoting materialism and in turn perpetuating Affluenza it all
comes down to personal choice and self control.

Castration Legality of Repeated Sex Offenders: Is it Ethical?
Upon Google searching (2017), define castration , one will find that it is the state of being
deprived of power, vitality, or vigor. Castration is also known as a gonadectomy in view of the
fact that the gonads are disabled. Indeed, castration does not do anything less than apprehend a
man s dignity. However, under the circumstances of repeated sexual offenses by an adult male,
does he not deserve it as punishment? Some may attest that castration is unethical and it should be
illegal in all fifty states. Others may inquire that it is an effective method for sex offenders to avoid
recidivism. The primary divisions of castration are physical and chemical. According to Paknikar...

The eight states are California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Montana, Oregon, Texas, and
Wisconsin (Norman Eady, 2006). If I was requested to propose a bill in regard to the castration of
high risk sex offenders, first and foremost, it would be legal in all fifty U.S. states and punishable
to both males and females. Note that I said, high risk sex offenders , and not simply sex offenders.
For someone to be considered a high risk sex offender, they will have to repeat a sexual offense
two or more times. With that being said, sex offenders with one offense should be allowed to
lessen their sentence if they choose castration. Castration should be mandatory upon each high
risk offender s release. They should be able to choose whether the castration is chemical or
surgical, but must pay for the procedure. This procedure will not be effective for all types of sex
offenders. Some sex offenders commit their crimes because of drug and alcohol abuse.
Therefore, sex drive is not the most crucial factor in those cases. This bill would apply to the
offenders who were driven by testosterone and other sexual hormones. Each offender must meet
with parole office for the remainder of their life. This is to discuss any sexual urges and to test the
individuals to make sure they are not using any drugs or medications to contribute to their sex
drive. If they are still not able to refrain from committing a sexual offense after the castration, they
should have to spend the rest of their hours in a correctional

Euripides Medea Of Euripides
Medea of Euripides is an ancient Greek tragedy play written by Euripides, grounded upon the
legend of two characters Medea and Jason. Euripides wrote Medea of Euripides in 431 BC at a
time in Greece, when males were governing, and women had limited rights. Medea, the
protagonist, was the daughter of Aeetes of Colchis, she was driven by passion and committed
horrendous crimes for the love of Jason. In the opening act, Medeais standing outside of Jason
house in Corinth as she explicates to the Chores how she was victimized by Jason. The Nurse,

Euripides introduced the Chores in the play to explain the critical levels of mutilation that was
formed among the main characters Jason and Medea. Medea s love for the antagonist character
Jason has caused her to murder her brother, be disloyal to her father, banished, and follow him. The
Nurse designates that Jason is the reason that Medea has committed such horrible crimes. In the
first scene, the Nurse spoke,
Served always Jason. Surely this doth bind,
Through all ill days, the hurts of humankind,
When man and woman is one music move.
But now, the world is angry, and true love
Sick with poison. Jason doth forsake
My mistress and his own sons to make
His couch in a king s chamber (Euripides 2).
Euripides masterly uses powerful word choices, different sentence lengths, informal grammar,
rhythm and a dramatic tone to convey his message. This was customary for that time in Greek
literature, specifically for the theater. The Chores role is to evoke empathy, instruction and
clarify Medea s mentality throughout the play. The principal plot motivation for Jason, who is
an opportunist with a mission to acquire prominence, to discards Medea and his sons in order to
marry the king s daughter. Which leads to Medea s objective to destroy Jason and all that he
loved. More conflict arises when the King Creon tells Medea to take her sons and leave his
kingdom forever.
Euripides shows us Medea s power of persuasion and scheming characteristics when she convinces

Sir William Wallace In Flannery O Connor s Braveheart
Fact or fiction? The thrilling adventures of Robin Hood have survived nearly 800 years. Never
ceasing to amaze the reader. Many have spent their days wondering if this English hero was
actually more than just a legend. Robin achieved great things in his life, although too great, it
seems, for a real man. It is thought that these tales could have been based on the life of one man,
exaggerated, but real nonetheless. A man would have to be a true hero of the people to have
stories told about him more than 800 years after his death. This man was a true legend; he
achieved more than almost any other man in his lifetime. This man s name was Sir William
Wallace of Scotland, or more commonly known as Braveheart .

The only remaining seal of Wallace was attached to the Lubeck Letter. William spent much of his
younger life in Selkirk forest, outlawed, wrongly accused of being a poacher. He was a
gamekeeper, equipped with a bow and arrow. Here is the reason for the bow on his seal. Is it purely
coincidence that Robin was famous for his use of the bow? William s wife was called Mirren; this
is Scots for Marion, the name of Robin Hood s love. No evidence suggests that Robin ever lived in
Sherwood. There was no actual Robin Hood but is it possible that he could have existed as
William Wallace. Robin was famous for stopping tax carriages and giving the money to the poor.
Robin did not do this by force; he used tactics and strategy. Much like William Wallace did in his
battles. William lead commoners to battle not trained soldiers. He used strategy to win his battles,
yet another connection between Robin and William. All evidence suggests that Robin lived in the
13th century. It is of little surprise then that this was the time of William

Analysis Of The Texas Legislature
The first Texas Legislature met in 1846 and has only had a few changes. It is a bicameral legislature
that has two chambers which include the Texas Senate, with 31 senators and the House of
Representatives, with 151 House members. The responsibility of the legislators includes promoting
their constituent s concerns and issues by addressing them during the sessions.
The Texas Legislaturemeets once every two years regular sessions of 140 days. However, there
are times when it is necessary for the governor to call special sessions that are limited to 30 days
of which he sets the agenda. There is not a limit to the number of special sessions that can be

Former governor Rick Perry once said When you have a full time legislature, they just feel pretty
inclined to be doing something. So they are going to dream up new laws, new regulations and new
statutes and generally all of those cost money. (Champagne) Government does not need to be
involved in everything, but it is necessary to try and keep order and to protect the citizens. An
additional argument against a full time legislation is the belief that it would increase corruption
due to the fact that the legislators would have more time together to deliberate and give in to the
temptation of unethical practices. (Champagne 217) My opinion is that a full time legislature
would offer more time and money for the job to be completed thoroughly. Instead of scheming,
they would be able to research and discuss the bills as they are being submitted. It seems that
corruption is caused for two reasons. The first being that currently there is simply not enough
time to tackle all the issues, so when one is approached with being persuaded to support a certain
bill, they act on it when they might not have even known that it existed. Secondly, the minimal
amount of pay for this job could play a role in one being tempted to these corrupt practices for
money or to enjoy things that they would otherwise not have access to. Whether the legislature is
currently corrupted or would be so if it becomes a full time, it is difficult to deny the fact that the

Senate Representatives Case Study
Week1 Discussion I believe that the US senate representation have to have the same number of
elected representatives for each region. Definitively, in the United States wealthy citizens are
better represented than poor people, even though rich and poor individuals share the same
political affiliation. Political inequality is when a policy benefits a group more than other.
Usually, politic favoritisms or benefits are reflected in the richer citizens. Equal representation
grows the functioning of a democratic system. In general, low income citizens have
disadvantages regarding political practice; low income citizens do not vote as wealthy people,
poor society does not participate in political activities as wealthy people. Poor individuals do not
understand the process of policy and have not access to political resources, so they cannot express
their point of views. Low income persons tend to live in marginal areas that are not supported by
politicians. These population s characteristics make that legislators hear more the wealthy group

citizenship from serving in the military because they will take advantage of their citizenship, they

Opponents feel that immigrants should not earn citizenship from serving in the military because

Rust Vs Wild Fly
Phenotypic expression of the mutation is isolated to the eyes of adult flies, with no differences
observed in developmental stages. The feature characteristic is eye color: mutant adults express a
darker, reddish brown color in contrast to the wild type red eye. Additionally, no pseudopupil is
observed in mutants. However this may be due to the darker eyecolor obscuring visibility of a
pseudopupil. Newly eclosed flies express a lighter mutant phenotype than older flies. The mutation
is nicknamed Rust due to the similarities between iron oxide, a reddish brown compound that
forms and darkens after exposure to oxygen, and the mutant eye color following eclosion. Male
and female mutant flies show no differences in phenotype aside from sexual dimorphism. Figure 1

Soap Operas Vs Pop Culture
When WGN Radio in Chicago first aired Painted Houses in 1930, a uniquely American form of
entertainment came into the world (Allen, 1985). In the eighty seven years since its birth, the
American daytime soap opera has entertained the masses through a great depression, two World
Wars, and 15 Presidents. The programs go by the moniker soap operas because the first producers
and sponsor of the programs were soap manufacturers such as Proctor and Gamble (Allen, 1985).
Since their introduction, the soap genre has captured the imaginations of millions and frequently
influenced other forms of entertainment. Sadly, today this beloved and persuasive pop culture
pioneer is at risk. At the present time, the number of American soap operas... Show more content on

Such celebrities include; Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, and Brad Pitt, just to name a few (Barnes,
B., Instyle.com). Furthermore, some established A list actors and actresses seek out roles on
soaps as fans of the show themselves. One example is the case of Elizabeth Taylor seeking out a
role on General Hospital in the 1980 s. Naturally, Gloria Monte, General Hospital head writer at
that time, honored Taylor s wish and cast her in the role of Helena Cassadine (Ford, 2010).
Similarly, General Hospital again created a role for James Franco in 2009 when he took on the

pop culture phenomenon, have been relevant and thus significant to countless everyday Americans
and American households over the past eight plus decades. Soaps, originally designed to appeal to

families have several soap watchers, who make viewing a daily family ritual (Healy, 2012). Stay at

Redemption In Les Miserables
The Change From Past To Present True redemption is when guilt leads to good (Khaled
Hosseini). Not one person on earth is completely free from wrongs. Humans have lapses in
judgement that can hurt them and others. Some people believe you can be redeemed and can put
your wrongs behind you, these people are kind and generous. Others believe you have one chance
to get it right, these people are often angry and judgmental. There are also those who believe that
someone can t be redeemed, but begin to realize that people can change. By looking at the Bishop,
Javert, and Jean Valjeanand their actions it becomes clear that Les Miserables is a book about
redemption coming to those who did wrongs in their past and the behaviors of those who believe
and don t believe. The Bishop was only in Les Miserables for a short time but the effect he had
on Jean Valjean carried throughout the entire book. The Bishop believes that people can make
lousy decisions but still be redeemed of them. When Jean Valjean stole the silver the Bishop
didn t condemn him, he gave him the chance to change the path he was going down, . . . God
has brought you out of darkness. I have bought your soul for God (Movie). The Bishop s
feelings on redemption made him a kind generous man, giving Jean Valjean a chance at a new
life. Javert is a foil of the Bishop, he believes people can t be redeemed of their wrongs and is
severe as a result. Throughout much of the book the police inspector, Javert,

what is to come with this group then their fame may be short lived once the catchy tune where

in ways with all the songs though the lyrics are different. Lyrics alone cannot support success.
Bastille has its sights set on bigger things. Bad Blood is a sometimes catchy but ultimately fairly
brittle album, and Mr. Smith is a singer with character in his voice but without much power .
(Caramanica 2014) Sadly, Smith s own writing takes a downward turn. Where the mix tapes are

riffs. Individually the tracks are exciting and novel, but once the musical style is established Bad
Blood is far too safe. Smith s voice is missing dynamic range, resulting in an album that
collectively falls flat. It s a problem that s only exacerbated on the extended cut. Bad Blood is
desperately in need of a good trim, more variety and a tighter focus. What s so disappointing is
Bastille s potential. The album features

MusГ©e des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden Essay
Suffering is embedded in our daily lives. There are devastating things going on in our daily

Auden s, MusГ©e des Beaux Arts, is a statement on human perceptions and how we use them to
observe, or block out humansuffering. While we are doing ordinary things like eating, or opening a
window, bad things can be happening to others and it is as easy as looking up, to see what is

The lines are enjambed with phrases stopping in the middle of new lines and lines spilling into
other lines. The lines do not pause to acknowledge the end of sentences like people seldom pause
their daily lives to acknowledge the suffering of those around them. Auden also uses bad syntax
in the last line of the poem, had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on. Auden may have
chosen to write in this free form to demonstrate that people are so indifferent to what is going on
around them that it does not make any difference what form the poem is written in, as it will
only be overlooked and not given any attention. The form of the poem allows the reader to
consider the ways in which suffering is masked by the frenzy of everyday life and that even the
acknowledged suffering of others does not seem to be of any concern to anybody but the sufferer.
Auden s poem is a criticism of human perceptions and how we use them to detect, or suppress
human suffering. In the first half of the poem Auden compares versions of indifference by
portraying youth and age, animals, and humans (Shmoop, 2014). In the first few lines of the poem,
Auden comments on the perceptions of the Old Masters and how they were never wrong in their
discernment of suffering. He then compares the old masters perceptions to the perceptions of
children and animals and how they are unaware of,

The Ethical Issues Of Outsourcing Labor Essay
In the past decade, a pattern has emerged of large corporations choosing to contract their labour to
foreign countries in order to remain competitive. However, companies tend to relocate production
to the poorest nations where labour is cheap and output is chief. As a result, outsourcing labour has
made multinational companies subject to criticism for their immoral practices. This has created the
classic ethical debate as to whether it is possible for multinationals to engage in developing nations
in both an ethical and lucrative manner. For businesses, the difficulty is if one of these values
should be favoured over the other.
In this paper, I will argue that ethical dilemmas, like outsourcing labour, are best approached using
the algorithm suggested by Thomas Donaldson; showing that businesses can engage aboard within
an ethical manner. To begin I will examine how Donaldson s guiding principles and core human
values (Donaldson 173) can exist despite different values across cultures. Next, I will consider his
premise of ethical leadership and its use in the multinational firm. Having defended these positions,
I will then compare his work to that of Ian Maitland. I will specifically address how Maitland s
arguments do not successfully defend the human rights of international employees. This will
demonstrate that Donaldson s argument is more suitable for ethically driven corporations and sets a
positive precedent for future ethical conduct.

Sam Schulman s The Worst Thing About Gay Marriage presents an interesting argument against
gay marriage that hinges upon maintaining a traditional form of marriage. He actually claims that
gay marriage is unnecessary (381). According to Schulman, there are 4 primary effects of marriage
within his definition he calls the kinship system. First, marriageprotects and controls a woman s

I would suspect Schulman s proposed structure would be). In the eyes, there had to be a system
where sex would be legitimized, while women and children were protected from it and its
consequences. This made sense when repeated sex acts would almost definitely cause
pregnancy, and possibly spread disease. As religion and government split into different
organizations, each retained a definition of marriage that was a bit different from the other.
Since religion held sway over what was considered pure and good, it took it upon itself to retain
the parts of the old structure that dealt with the morality and social responsibility of marriage,
and this is generally considered to be a social structure of marriage. And now, the social form of
marriage is migrating into being controlled by the couple who are being married instead of their
church. The government, on the other hand, became able to define who would be able to marry
and place official benefits and restrictions on a married couple, creating a legal structure of
marriage that was not the same as the social one. While

Freak The Mighty Theme
Theme of Freak the Mighty By:Chathan Shergill
Period:5
Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick is about Max and Kevin, also known as Freak ,
adventures as Freak the Mighty, slaying dragons and fools and walking high above the world.
(page 39 40) The story takes place in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The main character Max or
Maxwell is a large, very slow, but kind hearted person.Kevin or Freak is physically handicapped but
very intelligent kid and Max and he work together as a team called Freak the Mighty. The theme of
Freak the Mighty is the importance of Family . He distances himself from grim and gram, how his
family is messed up in the sense that his mother is dead, his father is in jail, and they don t say his
name, and finally he contrasts his family and other families, views his own family different.
To elaborate further on that idea, Philbrick shows that Max distances himself from his family(Grim
and Gram.)Gram and Grim, bless their pointed little heads, they re my mother s people, her parents.
(1.3)By calling them my mother s people, I got the idea that he is distancing himself from
them.Like if they dont belong with each other like he doesn t belong to them and they don t belong
to him.Maybe he doesn t feel that connect between them, that connect you had with your real
parents. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

relates back to the theme the importance of family, no one was there( his mom or dad) to guide or
help him besides his grandparents. He really never experienced that perfect family, maybe that is
why he is so isolated until Freak comes along. He thinks of him as

Essay On Loss Of Innocence
When many people think of children, they think of their innocence. Now imagine those same
children getting their innocence ripped from them. At what point in that situation, did you think
that those kids deserved it, that they were the cause of the problem? That is exactly what is
currently happening to childsoldiers. Those who think that they are the villains are not only
drastically uneducated on the situation, but are also ignorant to the facts. This is most likely due
to the fact that they are not in an area where this is occurring, which means they couldn t possibly
fathom what the kids are experiencing. To deny these children of amnesty for crimes they were
forced to commit is beyond cruel. These children are being brainwashed into... Show more content

So to put blame on them, while others are at fault, is beyond unreasonable, it could be
considered borderline barbaric. Especially since child soldiers are trying to escape their horrible
lives and the things that they were forced to do. To deny these children the chance of safety and
freedom is not only a awful thing to do, but is also furthering the problem and the likelihood of
their deaths. People everywhere are often given chances to redeem themselves, so why would
these children not get the same treatment? In the world today, kids play role playing games with
violence. But when children are involuntarily performing actual acts of violence they are the
ones who are blamed. To further prove this point, Armed and Underage explains the situation of
child soldiers in Africa and how the U.S. is involved, Because the U.S. is helping to pay Somali
soldiers, it is possible that the money for some child soldiers may have come from American
taxpayers. In other words, if the U.S. is knowingly paying child soldiers to do their bidding, then
why is there such controversy over whether or not they should be given

The Mentally Ill O FF Ender Treatment And Crime Reduction...
The Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2004: Problems and
Prospects by Christine M. Litschgea and Michael G. Vaughn, is a research article whose focus is
three fold. First, the researchers reviewed the literature available on the components that have
influenced the considerable increases of incarcerated persons with severe mental illness (SMI).
Secondly, they analyzed the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and CrimeReduction Act of 2004
(MIOTCRA), and evaluated if, since its inception, has reduced the problems associated with
incarcerated persons with SMI. Thirdly, they offered recommendations about policy improvements;
how to decrease the number of SMI persons imprisoned.
The researchers state that SMI offenders are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, they propose recommendations, these are based on the outcome of their reviews and
analyses, which include: effecting and requiring enforcement of policies already in existence,
decreasing the number of individuals with untreated SMI by changing outpatient commitment
specifications, which would require close monitoring of patients compliance with treatment, thus
reducing the overall number of SMI individuals becoming involved in the criminal justice system
at all. They also recognized the need for evidence based programs, and additional research to
investigate the actual effectiveness of MHC s and public mental health services.
Analysis and Evaluation
The issue chosen by the researchers, is a relevant issue facing the criminal justice system. The
predominance of mental health problems among incarcerated persons in both prisons and jails
present major problems for each component of the criminal justice system; law enforcement, courts,
and corrections. The entire criminal justice system is negatively impacted and overburdened by
untreated mental illness. According to Bureau of Justice Statistics, more than half of all prison and
jail inmates have a mental health problem (James Glaze, 2006).
The author s present important and substantial findings from prior studies and literature reviews.

Bob Parr Incredible Essay
Mr. Incredible, Bob Parr, is a great example of an apostolate. In his younger days, he saved the
people of the town. One person whom he always put down was Buddy, who eventually would
become Syndrome. When he retired, it was hard for him to stop. This is similar to when a priest
retires; he wants to stay involved in the Church. He used his super strength to help others. He
also used his kind heart that we all have to save others. His talent was his super power. He used
his gifts and talents to help the town against villains or mother nature. His calling to the world
was to help and serve others. This is important. We need to listen to God s calling to us about
what he wants us to do. I believe God wants me to help serve others just like he did but without
the superpowers. It would be cool to have those to help, too. The mission they unite together for
is to stop villains all in all. In this movie, they specifically stop Syndrome. Helen and Bob also
fix their marriage after he did not tell her the complete truth. Bob regrets not telling his family
what was going on when he thought his wife and kids were killed. When he found out they were

A connection the public has to the Parr family would be the kids going to school. Violet is shy,
but she likes popular kid. At the end of the movie, they finally talk. At the beginning of the movie,
Bob saves an old lady s cat. They follow the path of the early Christians by going out and helping
others. They were supposed to hide their super powers, but their calling was to help others. Many
people honor the Incredibles. For example, the public honor him. When he saved the people from
the burning building, they probably did not know it was him, but they probably knew who had
saved them. Bob also saved the old lady with the

Critical Analysis Of The Abolition Of Budgeting
Critical Analysis of the Abolition of Budgeting
Budgeting is a main instrument of management control for most organizations systems. Recently it
is a controversial phenomenon, the disappointment with budgeting is occurring. This is because
some people find that budgeting processes are time consuming and often lead to dysfunctional
behavior. Additionally, they make organization fail to be flexible in such an uncertain financial
environment. Many people think traditional budgeting systems should be abolished, but others
wish to improve them. Hope and Fraser (2003b) provide a few examples of European companies
that have abolished traditional budgeting systems successfully. On the other hand, Eckholm and
Wallin (2000) observe approximately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, under the pressure to improve performance, subordinates may force performance through
engage some short term actions, which may result in earning manipulation, breakdown in corporate
ethics or outright fraud. In a company that applies traditional budgeting, teams are fighting with
each other for customers and resources, which leads to discourage of information sharing. Hope and
Fraser (2003b) maintain that budgeting impedes information sharing and slow the responsibility of
market information. In addition, without budget targets, subordinates would report or make more
effort on some abnormal market information they collect instead of simply hide them. The reporting
of that abnormal information may help the company adjust their business strategy, and avoid
shortcomings (Hope and Fraser, 2003b).
Conversely, Libby and Lindsay (2010) suggest that in their survey sample, in terms of the efforts
put on achieving budgets targets, there are 52% and 71% of respondents in Canadian and US
respectively, which indicate that the emphasis is high. In respects of the relevance of the use of
fixed performance contracts, there are only 12% of respondents in Canadian and 17% respondents
in US agree that financial performance is strictly compared to the predetermined target and no
commission for changes during the competitive period. In other words, the fixed performance
contracts are not as highly relevant as what Hope and Fraser suggested. In terms of information
sharing,

Characteristics Of Femininity In British Literature
According to The Broadview Anthology of British Literature, There was much debate concerning
the proper place of women and the ideal characteristics of femininity throughout the nineteenth
century (610). Formally, the Victorian Era followed the reign of Queen Victoria in England from
1837 to 1901, but the era is not so rigidly set. The ideologies, values, and mores associated with the
Victorian Erawere present before Queen Victoria, and then followed into America and also lived
sixty years past its recorded date of death. In the United States during the 1950s and 60s, the idea
of femininity was still being explored, just as it was a century prior in another country. Women in
the Victorian Era and in 1950s and 1960s America experienced similar oppressions, suppressions,
questionings of worth and intelligence, and similar legal restrictions.
American female authors such as Sylvia Plath and Adrienne Rich called on their dexterous
writing abilities to convey their feelings of displeasure in regards to women s treatment in the
1950s and 1960s. In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood is a young woman of 1950s
America, but she has thoughts, opinions, and feelings that do not align with those of her society.
Similarly, Adrienne Rich s poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers features a woman whose society has found
its way into her personal life and her home. Both women cannot escape the Victorian worlds in
which they live. Esther attempts to reject it and fight against it, while

Introduction
The FIFA World Cup in Brazil took place from the 12th of June to the 13th of July 2014. Attracting
approximately one million foreign tourists in just one month (Loretta, 2014) it was without a doubt
the major global sporting event of the year. Discussions about holding such an event in yet another
developing country where controversial from the start and with regard to the 2016 Olympic Games
also held in Brazil, they still are.
In this essay I want to evaluate to what extent Brazil as a tourism destination benefitted from the
World Cup or not and how this affects the destination in the long term. Therefore, I firstly provide
three positive impacts on Brazil, of economic, social and environmental nature. This is followed ...

This can be in a positive way e.g. gaining of the knowledge but also in a negative way, such as

namely an improvement of infrastructure or littering. Lastly, there can be economical impacts
(Page amp; Connell, 2009). Although these can prove negative in the long term, most economical
impacts are positive because the tourists come and spend money at a destination.
If we take a look at the perspective of Brazilian tourism with regard to events such as the World Cup
2014, we can conclude that a lot of its success depends on the Olympic Games of 2016. Ainsworth
Wells (2013) describes the preparation of Rio for the Olympic Games as rather positive: If I could
draw a graph depicting Rio de Janeiro s trajectory and status against these factors as it prepares to
host the 2016 Olympics it would currently be somewhere in the middle, but heading in one
direction upwards (Ainswort Wells, 2013). Positive developments, such as the fact that the
accommodation sector is largely dominated by Brazilian companies or the renovation of port areas
through public private partnerships, can be recognized. Yet one of the biggest concerns is the
traffic. As there will not be enough time anymore to work on the underground metro system, the
city of Rio aims at revolutionizing the bus system. Taking into account the fact that during the
World Cup 2014 the vast majority perceived their visit

How to Teach Reported Speech
1.6. How to Teach Reported Speech Review Practice Lesson plan
Teaching students reported or indirect speech can be complicated by the all the changes that are
required when moving from direct speech into reported speech. First off, students should
understand that reported speech is quite useful in conversational English as relating what someone
has said using quote and unquote is awkward at best. A further aspect of reported speech is
encouraging students to use other reporting verbs beyond say and tell .
Introducing Reported Speech
Start with Tenses
I find it best to start off with simple examples in which changes are only made in tense. For
example:
Write on the Board:
Direct Speech

Exercise 2: Ask you partner the following questions making sure to take good notes. After you have
finished the questions, find a new partner and report what you have learnt about your first partner
using reported speech.
What is your favorite sport and how long have you been playing/doing it?
What are your plans for your next vacation?
How long have you known your best friend? Can you give me a description of him/her?
What kind of music do you like? Have you always listened to that kind of music?
What did you use to do when you were younger that you don t do anymore?
Do you have any predictions about the future?
Can you tell me what you do on a typical Saturday afternoon?
What were you doing yesterday at this time?
Which two promises will you make concerning learning English?
As students become familiar with the reported speech, introduce a wider range of reporting verbs
to help students move past say and tell .
There are a number of other reporting verbs which can more accurately describe what someone
has said. These verbs take a variety of structures. The following list gives you reporting verbs in
various categories based on sentence structure. Notice that a number of verbs can take more than
one form. verb object infinitive verb infinitive verb (that)

Research Paper On Vikings
Scandinavians (Vikings) had first settled in southern Scandinavia, but then they started to seek and
explore just as every other nation in history. They had started to divide into separate factions and
were loosely structured, but they still had enough in common to work together and expand. They
stretched from their southern Scandinavia to England, a bunch of really tiny islands, tips of Europes
mainland, Iceland, Greenland, and landed in Newfoundland (which they called Vinland). They had
skirted around other islands and peninsulas similar to Greenland, but didn t settle there. What is
fascinating is the fact that they had landed in North America about 5 centuries before Columbus.
They had used an early version of their most recognized longboats.... Show more content on

allowed the ships to steer through fjords, streams, and the ocean. They only thing they lacked (of
which they added later) was a mast and sail. (Only in the 15th century did Europeans create a ship
that surpassed the longboat.) Vikings, known for their raiding and pillage, were driven to these
acts by overpopulation and poverty. A contrasting image of their big and brute reputation, they
were made up of landless sons, social outcasts, and political refugees. Their later divisions spread
even further. Their beginning expeditions were small and mostly unrecognized, but as people
started to recognize them (not collectively) they were dubbed an assortment of names and were
even hired as mercenaries by Byzantian Greeks. They remained mostly in the northern north of the
equator, but they were still expansive people considering. They fell to their expansion, assimilation,

Projects as open systems (identifying the project nature in systems terms)
Systems thinking and project management evolved together from meeting the same challenges
during the 1950s (Winch, 2010). The system approach helps to understand the complexity of the
processes and the interrelationships with them. (Walker A. , 2015).
Ackoff (1969) considers system as:
An entity, conceptual or physical, which consists of interdependent parts. Each of a system s
elements is connected to every other element, directly or indirectly, and no sub set of elements is
unrelated to any other sub set .
Walker (2007, p. 67) states that systems theory helps to explain how the project management
process should be structured and hence how the various firms and ... Show more content on

These types describe the extent of interaction between project actors. Pooled interdependency
means, that actors do not interact straightly, but contribute individual pieces to the whole. Even
though they are not directly linked, their performance affects each other. Sequential
interdependency has a serial form. There is the direct interdependency of units on each other: the
output of the entity becomes the input for the followed one. Both parts make contributions to and
are sustained by the whole. In case of reciprocal interdependency, the outputs of each become the
inputs for the others, but not in a serial form. Each unit poses contingency for the other. Reciprocal
interdependency has the highest level of complexity and dominates in construction projects, which
shows the need for the highest level of integration. (Baccarini, 1996)
Thompson (1967) suggests that sequential interdependency consists of the elements of pooled
interdependency, whereas reciprocal interdependency embraces the elements of both pooled and
sequential. This shows the links between the types of interdependence.
The three types of interdependency have significant implications for how to achieve coordination in
construction, as they imply that the actors must adjust and direct their activities and resources in
and between numerous supply chains and numerous construction sites. (Bankvall,

The Short Story Of Richard Van Camp
A tragedy in its own right must evoke emotion and a response from the audience through effective
use of several elements evident in Shakespeare s and Aristotle s style of tragic writing. The plot
progression of a tragedy should be rather specific under the idea which leads, ultimately, to the
downfall of the protagonist. Despite the sorrowful story behind Richard Van Camp s short story
Mermaids, the exclusion of several core elements from both styles of writing prevent this piece
from being classified a tragedy. Mermaids lacked the development of a tragic flaw in the main
character, Torchy, and furthermore did not lead the character to their tragic demise, Van Camp
also excluded the idea of isolating him over time and rather brought him closer to those around
him to get over his inner conflict, which is unlike a tragedy. A central character in a tragic piece
of writing should develop in a way where they are lead [ushered] to their demise due to a critical
flaw, which is caused by the inability to solve an inner conflict. Torchy was found to be at a
rather low point in his life evident by his use of drugs and his gambling issues. Despite these
vices, he does not allow it to destroy him. His relationship with the young girl, Stephanie, who
was neglected by her parents, allowed him to reflect on his past particularly after his brother s
death. [M]y daddy s gone, she says... I ll be your sister... if you ll be my brother ... I start to cry

SIX DEBATES over MACROECONOMIC POLICY
ISSUES| YES| NO| 1. Whether or not monetary and fiscal policymakers should try to stabilize the

and believe that policy can manage aggregate demand, and thereby, production and employment, to
offset the inherent instability. When aggregate demand is inadequate to ensure full employment,
policymakers should boost government spending, cut taxes, and expand money supply. However,
when aggregate demand is excessive, risking higher inflation, policymakers should cut government

Increased spending on investment adds to aggregate demand and helps to restore normal levels of
production and employment.Fiscal policy, on the other hand, can provide an additional tool to
combat recessions and is particularly useful when the tools of monetary policy lose their
effectiveness. When the government cuts taxes, it increases households disposable income, which
encourages them to increase spending on consumption. When the government buys goods and
services, it adds directly to aggregate demand. Moreover, these fiscal actions can have multiplier
effects: Higher aggregate demand leads to higher incomes, which in turn induces additional
consumer spending and further increases in aggregate demand.Traditional Keynesian analysis
indicates that increases in government purchases are a more potent tool than decreases in taxes.
When the government gives a dollar in tax cuts to a household, part of that dollar may be saved
rather than spent. The part of the dollar that is saved does not contribute to the aggregate demand
for goods and services. By contrast, when the government spends a dollar buying a good or
service, that dollar immediately and fully adds to aggregate demand.| Critics of spending hikes
argue that tax cuts can expand both aggregate demand and aggregate supply and that hasty
increases in government spending may lead to wasteful public projects.Tax cuts increase aggregate
demand by increasing household s disposable income, as

  • 2. The Importance Of Tragic Events In Mariatu s Life Although I do not entirely relate to Mariatu or many of the tragic events that have occurred during her life time, one event during Mariatu s life I do relate to is when she moved to Toronto. Firstly, I relate to Mariatu during this event in her life because both Mariatu and I moved from Africa to Canada. Now despite the fact that she moved to Toronto due to the war in her homeland and moved at a much older age than I did , I do still believe we do relate in this instance because we both had to leave our homelands that we were both very fond of so we could receive a much better and more fair life. Also, as it states in the book Mariatu had a hard time fitting into her new school. Although I did receive an educationin Africa and Mariatu did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Best Practices for Kitting and Sub Assembly Best Practices for Kitting and Sub Assembly Introduction Let s talk about Best Practices for kitting and assembly. They mean different things depending on your position within the supply chain. Many companies use kitting and assembly interchangeably together but they are indeed different. Manufacturers typically use the term assembly while wholesaling industry (comprised of 3PL and distribution companies) use kitting. You are either combining raw materials to create a finished good, or combining already finished goods into a larger group. Even if you have raw goods, you can still kit for assembly. Kitting is for anyone who wants to combine group items together, build a product, or make a master item. If you are a distributor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employees When kitting is part of the process, assembly workers usually spend more time assembling and less time walking around searching for components. The value add time contributed by assemblers is therefore maximized. Another benefit that researchers who have academically studied kitting operations have noticed is that new staff training costs and acclimation periods are reduced. Quality Kitting can have a very positive upside when tracking product and part quality. Part damage, due to less handling will usually drop. This is especially important if the parts are either expensive or perishable. Another area where quality improves is tracing and correcting defects. Kitting provides the opportunity to have quality control verification earlier, reducing the possibility of wrong parts or incorrectly assembled components being used in the final product. A Caveat: the Dark Side of Kitting Before we move on, let s look at the dark side of kitting. Like the other best practices for warehouse and inventory management that we ve already discussed, you ll love the benefits if it is done well. Product quality will plummet if it is poorly implemented and issues such as making kits with missing or incorrect parts results. When Kitting Goes Sideways We ve looked at the benefits. Now, lets look at some of the negative issues that can arise if your kitting isn t working quite as well as planned. An insufficient quantity of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Historical And Ongoing Construction Of Aboriginal Women Historical and Ongoing Construction of Aboriginal Women in Canada as a Problem Population Holly Perkins 301041410 Criminology 302 Critical Criminology November 26, 2014 Instructor: Gregory Simmons Historical and Ongoing Construction of Aboriginal Women in Canada as a Problem Population In August of 2014, Tina Fontaine, a 15 year old from the Sagkeeng First Nation in Winnipeg, was murdered. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper s response was not to regard it as a sociological phenomenon but as a crime against an individual that should be investigated (Canadian Press, 2014). Harper is virtually alone in this. Those demanding an inquiry and the treatment of this singular murder as part of the larger concern of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a variety of theories that are useful in understanding this issue. The theories that will be used here to explain the state of murdered and missing women in Canada and Harper s response to it are societal reaction perspective and Spitzer s Marxian theory of deviance. In order to understand the constructed identity of Aboriginal women in Canada today and in the past, it is necessary to discuss ideas of empire, including Manifest Destiny and Terra Nullius. These European concepts were and generally still form the ideology operating in Canada. Expansion of the ruling class empire is taken for granted and divinely supported. This is the basis for European exploration of the globe, claiming of already occupied lands and colonization of existing peoples. Manifest Destiny was the 19th Century settler belief that it was their destiny to expand throughout North America. Terra Nullius is the concept that land determined to be empty, in other words not being used productively by a civilized people, could be occupied by those Europeans who found it. Of course, both of these concepts belong to the ideology of European empire expansion which indisputably devalued the existing Aboriginal communities. The French and English settlers pushed their Christian beliefs onto Aboriginal peoples and succeeded in altering Aboriginal communities from their matrilineal nature into ... • 5. belonging speech Belonging speech Good morning/Afternoon teachers and students today I will be showing you how a sense of belonging or not belonging greatly influences an individual s identity. A change in identity occurs when belonging is found through meaningful, intimate relationships, with senses of place, community, safety and familiarity. The free verse novel, The Simple Gift, composed by Steven Herrick, the dramatic fairy tale film, Edward Scissor hands, directed and created by Tim Burton and the novel Matilda composed by Roald Dahl, all explore the concepts of belonging and relationships through the strong use of literary techniques; and focus on a changing Identity as a base for belonging. All texts have significantly different perspectives of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Billy develops another significant relationship with Caitlin, a wealthy girl who is smart enough to realise none of this means anything , because like Billy, she values a lack of material possessions, and dislikes the identity associated with being wealthy. Billy s relationship with Caitlin provides him with a sense of belonging to friendships. Edward scissor hands tells us a story about an artificial man, Edward Scissor hands , who was made by a lonely inventor who lived on top of a hill near a small town. Long after his inventor s death, Edward is brought into society by Meg, a local resident and encounters many new and interesting things as he attempts to belong in civilisation. This film explores concepts of belonging to groups or communities and a sense of belonging in relationships shown by Edward s endless struggle to find clarity and purpose. A sense of isolation can come from ones difference to others, whether it is physical mental or spiritual. Edward s hands made out of sharp scissors are iconic of his separation from the rest of society. They create a physical barrier between him and others which greatly limit the amount of physical contact Edward can have with others and the rest of the world and in turn creates a sense of isolation. This is carefully and noticeably communicated by Burton by the use of colour and contrast, specifically Edward s initial costume is completely black leather, decorated with metal studs and rings. His hair is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Stereotypes of Hispanic Women in Cinema The Latina women, even throughout the era resistance cinema, have not been able to make much progress in overcoming the degrading stereotypes that Hollywood has created for them. Despite the many advances that minorities have made in the cinema in recent years, Latina actresses still take on the roles of the dark skinned lady and other such stereotypes with strong sexual connotations. It is often debatable whether or not the role of the Latina has undergone dramatic changes since the days of Dolores Del Rio and Carmen Miranda dancing with the fruit baskets on top of their heads. However, in recent years there has been an emphasis by various Latinas in the film industryto combat such stereotypical rolesand redefine themselves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This character began to appear in the 1930 s, at the same time that an audio component was introduced into cinema. The audience was not however interested in the voice of the vamp but rather for her appearance and sex appeal. She was often depicted as exotic and sensual. As Tara Osorio writes, In early cinema, Hollywood represented Latinas as ignorant, and valued their striking appearance and figure rather than their intelligence, character, and personalities. (Tara Osorio) With the introduction of musicals into cinema, there were many opportunities for vamp roles. There were three particular women in early cinema who were infamous for portraying the vamp character. Carmen Miranda, Dolores Del Rio, and Lupe Velez were typecast in such roles and were seen in the majority of films produced in these decades. This character represented an image that was offensive and insulting to many. The character did not have many diverse elements and was a rather one dimensional figure. It was even more damaging when you take into account that the same role was repeated, often by the same actress in a myriad of films. As one actress Rita Moreno describes after she had played a similar spitfire character fourteen times in eleven years. It s really demeaning after you ve won the Oscar to be offered the same role over and over again. They only wanted me to drag out my accent and dance show over and over again. • 7. Bicycle Thief Essay The Bicycle Thief The Bicycle Thief is probably the best known and most highly praised of all the Italian Neorealist films of its era. The films of the Neorealist movement were characterized by several primary ideas. Instead of featuring stories focusing on glitz and glamour, Neorealist films focused on the poor and the working class. Instead of building and fabricating complex sets to film on, they did their filming on location. And instead of trying to get the most well known, highly paid celebrity actors, they frequently used people that weren t even professional actors and had no training for their starring roles. This all helped lend a sense of realism and weight to the stories. The Bicycle Thief takes place in Rome during a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With no other choice, Antonio takes to the streets and searches for his bike for hours, but comes up empty handed. The scene where he and his son are caught in the rain, soaked and downtrodden, as all around him people on their bikes are riding away really makes poignant the hopelessness of his situation. After trying everything he can think of to get any leads on the thief or the location of his bike, go so far as to even spend what little money he has left on a fortune teller, he happens to bump into the thief in question walking down the street. He chases and finally corners him, but the thief refuses to confess anything and his family and friends defend him from the furious Antonio. The cops arrive, and yet again, they are of no help. They can t do anything for Antonio as he has no concrete evidence of the crime. Pushed to the final point of desperation, Antonio realizes he has no choice left but to stoop to the lowest level and steal a bike if he doesn t want his family to starve. He tries to snatch one but is almost immediately taken down by witnesses and held until the police arrive. Seeing Antonio s son distraught and in tears, the man doesn t press charge and lets him off the hook. Antonio and his son walk off, both of them in tears, completely hopeless and beaten by society at every turn. This is what Italian Neorealism is all about. For millions upon millions ... Cormier s son Peter, had refused to sell chocolates at his school s annual sale as a matter of principle (Kemp1), so Cormier thought that it would be an interesting plot for a book. In this book, Robert Cormierintroduces us to many characters that personify evil in order to try to control and manipulate each other to gain power. The concept of power is represented in many different ways throughout this novel. In this paper I will explain how power is represented in The Chocolate War, and how it works. I will explain the different kinds of power that operate in the school. Also I will explain whether the protagonist Jerry Renault... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter 3 we are reminded that The Chocolate War is also a coming of age novel. When Jerry looks at the pornographic magazine, he is now beginning to want to know and understand the processes of adolescent and adulthood. So he buys a magazine with the curiosity of what kind of satisfaction the other kids were receiving by glaring at the images in the magazines. He is in that stage of wanting to be accepted. Cormier made Jerry s character out to be an outcast, being the one that would always get beaten up by the bully. Which proved to be correct when Emile Janza, the school s bully begins to pick on him. Although Emile was the school s bully he too, respected the Vigils to a certain extent. Archie was also a bully, but he bullied the minds of the other kids. He did not resort to physical abuse but he indeed psychologically bullied people including Emile Janza. Fear also played a factor throughout this story. Fear is what made the Goober go into Brother Eugene s room and loosen all of the screws from the furniture. This brings us back to the psychological bullying of Archie, because the Goober was mentally sick when he found out that the actions of his assignment had made Brother Eugene sick. The other students were also frightened by the Vigils so they to carried out any assignments that they were given. This story is written with a lot of hidden symbols and meanings within the events that occur. Jerry also feared the Vigils at first but as the story ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Importance Of Web Based Communication The most fundamental method of human expression is communication through both verbal and non verbal means. As technology, has rapidly developed over the past two decades, and continues to evolve at a staggering pace leading into the future, people have taken to the World Wide Web (WWW) as an extension of basic communication capability. WWW communication allows people to quickly reach out to one another throughout the course of a busy day. As a result of enhanced communication capability, and a surge in use of communication over the WWW, areas of private professional and public political life have seen substantial change in recent years. Positive Public Attitude The daily routines of many individuals have only gotten more hectic in recent years, despite the advantages of having increased technology. As such, it has become much more difficult for the average worker to simply reach out with a phone call, or stop in for a face to face conversation with other professionals. To assist the busy lives of individuals, web based communication, through secure means, has become more prevalent. From communicating with a utility company about an electric, water, or gas account, to seeking medical advice from a family doctor, secure messaging systems are making their mark. A study of forty three physicians was conducted six months following the implementation of a secure messaging system called Patient Gateway (PG) to quantify if using secure messaging produced positive results ... • 13. Human Trafficking And The Trafficking Human Smuggling and trafficking continues to be a worldwide plague that has been, thus far been largely ignored by the international community. The paramount reason human trafficking and smuggling has festered and grown roots and spread globally. It started as a grassroots effort on the local level where women and girls (it affects boys as well) would be used and sold for sex. Eventually, greed and corruption tagged along for the ride and at that point the crimes became an organized enterprise. At that point the crimes grew exponentially and spread worldwide and infested every crevice and nook on earth, no matter how small and insignificant it may. A stellar example of this the systematic rape, torture and killing of women of Yazidi Christian women in Iraq and the other region of the Middle East. The ideology behind ISIS would be jihad and anti Western propaganda, however, whether the motivation be money, drugs, or as in human smuggling, illegal immigration, the world at large must annihilate it. Human smuggling and human trafficking are two distinct crimes that, the further down the food chain each go, the lines do get murky and tend to melt together. Law enforcement from around the world have often thrown up their hands at the crimes because of the web of complexities involved. The law enforcement community at times have plum run out of resources and manpower to devote to the crimes. As supply chains have become more globalized, so has the need for a more efficient and accessible transportation infrastructure within the country to allow greater access to newer markets overseas. By having such a crucial role in U.S commerce over the years, there has been fluctuations in the amount of regulation drawn up by the government and enforced by federal agencies and the courts. In this case, the railroad, trucking and air industry s have reflected the national trends of regulation and deregulation movements over the last 15 years. Soon after the first transcontinental railroads were federally subsidized and created in the 1860s, concerns arose over cases of predatory practices being carried out by certain rail companies. This was made possible in part by the monopolization taking place within the industry. Jay Gould, a wealthy man at the time who was a leading developer and speculator of railroads, possessed much control over rail activity. Such control created challenges for local economies of particular cities like St. Louis. An additional argument against a full time legislation is the belief that it would increase corruption due to the fact that the legislators would have more time together to deliberate and give in to the temptation of unethical practices. Instead of scheming, they would be able to research and discuss the bills as they are being submitted. It seems that corruption is caused for two reasons. The first being that currently there is simply not enough time to tackle all the issues, so when one is approached with being persuaded to support a certain bill, they act on it when they might not have even known that it existed. Secondly, the minimal amount of pay for this job could play a role in one being tempted to these corrupt practices for money or to enjoy things that they would otherwise not have access to. Jason then proceeded to punch Maurice in the jaw, and he fell backwards and hit his head on the table. Ashley walked in on the entire scene, and went to get the bartender. The bartender grabbed Jason and told him that he needed to leave. Jason grabbed his phone and keys and walked out of the bar. Maurice and Ashley walked outside, and did not notice that Jason was sitting in his car. He revved the engine to frighten them, and then proceeded to drive his car directly towards them. They managed to move out of the way just in time, and after they moved, Jason crashed headfirst into a rotting tree. • 31. Soap Operas Vs Pop Culture When WGN Radio in Chicago first aired Painted Houses in 1930, a uniquely American form of entertainment came into the world (Allen, 1985). In the eighty seven years since its birth, the American daytime soap opera has entertained the masses through a great depression, two World Wars, and 15 Presidents. The programs go by the moniker soap operas because the first producers and sponsor of the programs were soap manufacturers such as Proctor and Gamble (Allen, 1985). Since their introduction, the soap genre has captured the imaginations of millions and frequently influenced other forms of entertainment. Sadly, today this beloved and persuasive pop culture pioneer is at risk. At the present time, the number of American soap operas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such celebrities include; Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, and Brad Pitt, just to name a few (Barnes, B., Instyle.com). Furthermore, some established A list actors and actresses seek out roles on soaps as fans of the show themselves. One example is the case of Elizabeth Taylor seeking out a role on General Hospital in the 1980 s. Naturally, Gloria Monte, General Hospital head writer at that time, honored Taylor s wish and cast her in the role of Helena Cassadine (Ford, 2010). Similarly, General Hospital again created a role for James Franco in 2009 when he took on the part of Robert Franco an artist/serial killer. Finally, celebrities aside, soap operas, as an undeniable pop culture phenomenon, have been relevant and thus significant to countless everyday Americans and American households over the past eight plus decades. Soaps, originally designed to appeal to the average American, normally have at least one viewer in the midst of most families, while some families have several soap watchers, who make viewing a daily family ritual (Healy, 2012). Stay at home wives and mothers, the first target demographic of the daytime drama, historically felt the influence of soap operas first, then shared that influence with the rest of the family, often times without the rest of the family even realizing. • 34. Redemption In Les Miserables The Change From Past To Present True redemption is when guilt leads to good (Khaled Hosseini). Not one person on earth is completely free from wrongs. Humans have lapses in judgement that can hurt them and others. Some people believe you can be redeemed and can put your wrongs behind you, these people are kind and generous. Others believe you have one chance to get it right, these people are often angry and judgmental. There are also those who believe that someone can t be redeemed, but begin to realize that people can change. By looking at the Bishop, Javert, and Jean Valjeanand their actions it becomes clear that Les Miserables is a book about redemption coming to those who did wrongs in their past and the behaviors of those who believe and don t believe. The Bishop was only in Les Miserables for a short time but the effect he had on Jean Valjean carried throughout the entire book. The Bishop believes that people can make lousy decisions but still be redeemed of them. When Jean Valjean stole the silver the Bishop didn t condemn him, he gave him the chance to change the path he was going down, . . . God has brought you out of darkness. I have bought your soul for God (Movie). The Bishop s feelings on redemption made him a kind generous man, giving Jean Valjean a chance at a new life. We sometimes hear it at various places we go to. It surrounds us and is a fundamental part of our lives. You cannot escape it. Music is part of our lives . Music is transmitted in different ways like someone who is trying to get a message through, or it can just be an expression of ones ideas and the overflow of emotions. If this is a sign of what is to come with this group then their fame may be short lived once the catchy tune where off. When you listen to the album Bad Blood the rhythm is catchy kind of humdrum and simple in ways with all the songs though the lyrics are different. Lyrics alone cannot support success. Bastille has its sights set on bigger things. Bad Blood is a sometimes catchy but ultimately fairly brittle album, and Mr. Smith is a singer with character in his voice but without much power . (Caramanica 2014) Sadly, Smith s own writing takes a downward turn. Where the mix tapes are eclectic, intricately woven pieces, his material lacks the same creative flare. Too often Smith relies on the same chord sequences, the same dramatic production, the same vocal melodies and riffs. Individually the tracks are exciting and novel, but once the musical style is established Bad Blood is far too safe. Smith s voice is missing dynamic range, resulting in an album that collectively falls flat. It s a problem that s only exacerbated on the extended cut. There are devastating things going on in our daily environments and yet, people seldom realize this as they occupy themselves with other tasks. W.H. While we are doing ordinary things like eating, or opening a window, bad things can be happening to others and it is as easy as looking up, to see what is actually going on. Auden may have chosen to write in this free form to demonstrate that people are so indifferent to what is going on around them that it does not make any difference what form the poem is written in, as it will only be overlooked and not given any attention. The form of the poem allows the reader to consider the ways in which suffering is masked by the frenzy of everyday life and that even the acknowledged suffering of others does not seem to be of any concern to anybody but the sufferer. Auden s poem is a criticism of human perceptions and how we use them to detect, or suppress human suffering. In the first half of the poem Auden compares versions of indifference by portraying youth and age, animals, and humans (Shmoop, 2014). • 37. The Ethical Issues Of Outsourcing Labor Essay In the past decade, a pattern has emerged of large corporations choosing to contract their labour to foreign countries in order to remain competitive. However, companies tend to relocate production to the poorest nations where labour is cheap and output is chief. As a result, outsourcing labour has made multinational companies subject to criticism for their immoral practices. This has created the classic ethical debate as to whether it is possible for multinationals to engage in developing nations in both an ethical and lucrative manner. For businesses, the difficulty is if one of these values should be favoured over the other. In this paper, I will argue that ethical dilemmas, like outsourcing labour, are best approached using the algorithm suggested by Thomas Donaldson; showing that businesses can engage aboard within an ethical manner. To begin I will examine how Donaldson s guiding principles and core human values (Donaldson 173) can exist despite different values across cultures. Next, I will consider his premise of ethical leadership and its use in the multinational firm. Having defended these positions, I will then compare his work to that of Ian Maitland. I will specifically address how Maitland s arguments do not successfully defend the human rights of international employees. This will demonstrate that Donaldson s argument is more suitable for ethically driven corporations and sets a positive precedent for future ethical conduct. When faced with the moral ... The Tragedy of Gay Marriage Sam Schulman s The Worst Thing About Gay Marriage presents an interesting argument against gay marriage that hinges upon maintaining a traditional form of marriage. He actually claims that gay marriage is unnecessary (381). According to Schulman, there are 4 primary effects of marriage within his definition he calls the kinship system. First, marriageprotects and controls a woman s sexuality. Second, the possible pairings are limited by the kinship system to avoid incest or other taboos. Third, marriage creates a situation where licit sex can occur. Fourth, it places a clear divide between childhood innocence and adult, married, life. Once, far back in history, when states were run in close cooperation with religious leaders, a marriage was strictly the dominion of the church, and the only definition was much like the one above (though they were more lax in avoiding incest than I would suspect Schulman s proposed structure would be). In the eyes, there had to be a system where sex would be legitimized, while women and children were protected from it and its consequences. This made sense when repeated sex acts would almost definitely cause pregnancy, and possibly spread disease. As religion and government split into different organizations, each retained a definition of marriage that was a bit different from the other. Since religion held sway over what was considered pure and good, it took it upon itself to retain the parts of the old structure that dealt with the morality and social responsibility of marriage, and this is generally considered to be a social structure of marriage. And now, the social form of marriage is migrating into being controlled by the couple who are being married instead of their church. The government, on the other hand, became able to define who would be able to marry and place official benefits and restrictions on a married couple, creating a legal structure of marriage that was not the same as the social one. Pooled interdependency means, that actors do not interact straightly, but contribute individual pieces to the whole. Even though they are not directly linked, their performance affects each other. Sequential interdependency has a serial form. There is the direct interdependency of units on each other: the output of the entity becomes the input for the followed one. Both parts make contributions to and are sustained by the whole. In case of reciprocal interdependency, the outputs of each become the inputs for the others, but not in a serial form. Each unit poses contingency for the other. Reciprocal interdependency has the highest level of complexity and dominates in construction projects, which shows the need for the highest level of integration. (Baccarini, 1996) Thompson (1967) suggests that sequential interdependency consists of the elements of pooled interdependency, whereas reciprocal interdependency embraces the elements of both pooled and sequential. This shows the links between the types of interdependence. The three types of interdependency have significant implications for how to achieve coordination in construction, as they imply that the actors must adjust and direct their activities and resources in and between numerous supply chains and numerous construction sites. • 50. The Short Story Of Richard Van Camp A tragedy in its own right must evoke emotion and a response from the audience through effective use of several elements evident in Shakespeare s and Aristotle s style of tragic writing. The plot progression of a tragedy should be rather specific under the idea which leads, ultimately, to the downfall of the protagonist. Despite the sorrowful story behind Richard Van Camp s short story Mermaids, the exclusion of several core elements from both styles of writing prevent this piece from being classified a tragedy. Mermaids lacked the development of a tragic flaw in the main character, Torchy, and furthermore did not lead the character to their tragic demise, Van Camp also excluded the idea of isolating him over time and rather brought him closer to those around him to get over his inner conflict, which is unlike a tragedy. A central character in a tragic piece of writing should develop in a way where they are lead [ushered] to their demise due to a critical flaw, which is caused by the inability to solve an inner conflict. Torchy was found to be at a rather low point in his life evident by his use of drugs and his gambling issues. Despite these vices, he does not allow it to destroy him. His relationship with the young girl, Stephanie, who was neglected by her parents, allowed him to reflect on his past particularly after his brother s death. [M]y daddy s gone, she says... Mainly most of these barrier island are 0.6 3 miles wide and amid from 9 18 miles long. The highest structures example of barrier island are sand dunes with the height of 16 33 feet; however, in some places the dunes can reach the height of 100 feet. Few barrier islands are initiated as spits that were then detached from the inland by upsurge corrosion, rising of sea level resulting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sightings of these Jokers have been reported throughout Essex, Newcastle, Manchester and Wales; Striking fear and anxiety into the locals. Although the idea of a grown man wearing clown make up, a frizzy wig and a big red nose has been, to many, a source of nightmares for decades; the scary clown frenzy began after the release of Stephen King s horrifying novel It and the feature film following the Pennywise character terrorising teenagers. Even after three decades, the themes of the novel/film carry weight. The clown frenzy in the US grew to massive proportion late September as 6000 students took it upon themselves to hunt down these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Essay on Six Debates over Macroeconomic Policy SIX DEBATES over MACROECONOMIC POLICY SIX DEBATES over MACROECONOMIC POLICY ISSUES| YES| NO| 1. Whether or not monetary and fiscal policymakers should try to stabilize the economy| Advocates of active monetary and fiscal policy view the economy as inherently unstable and believe that policy can manage aggregate demand, and thereby, production and employment, to offset the inherent instability. When aggregate demand is inadequate to ensure full employment, policymakers should boost government spending, cut taxes, and expand money supply. However, when aggregate demand is excessive, risking higher inflation, policymakers should cut government spending, raise taxes, and reduce the money supply. Such policy actions put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Increased spending on investment adds to aggregate demand and helps to restore normal levels of production and employment.Fiscal policy, on the other hand, can provide an additional tool to combat recessions and is particularly useful when the tools of monetary policy lose their effectiveness. When the government cuts taxes, it increases households disposable income, which encourages them to increase spending on consumption. When the government buys goods and services, it adds directly to aggregate demand. Moreover, these fiscal actions can have multiplier effects: Higher aggregate demand leads to higher incomes, which in turn induces additional consumer spending and further increases in aggregate demand.Traditional Keynesian analysis indicates that increases in government purchases are a more potent tool than decreases in taxes. When the government gives a dollar in tax cuts to a household, part of that dollar may be saved rather than spent. The part of the dollar that is saved does not contribute to the aggregate demand for goods and services. By contrast, when the government spends a dollar buying a good or service, that dollar immediately and fully adds to aggregate demand.| Critics of spending hikes argue that tax cuts can expand both aggregate demand and aggregate supply and that hasty increases in government spending may lead to wasteful public projects.Tax cuts increase aggregate demand by increasing household s disposable income, as ...
