Wipro was incorporated in 1945 as Western India Vegetable Products in Mumbai. It was initially setup to manufacture vegetable ghee and oils. In 1966, Azim Premji took over as chairman after his father's death. Key events include diversifying into IT in 1980, changing the name to Wipro in 1982, and going global in 1992.
