INTRODUCTION
Wipro Limited (formerly Western India Products Limited) is an
IT services and consulting company headquartered in Karnataka,
India.
 As of 2012, Wipro is the second largest IT services company by
turnover in India, employing about 120,000 people worldwide as
of December 2011.

outsourcing, business process outsourcing (BPO) and business
consulting services.
HISTORY
The company was established in 1980 as a subsidiary of
Wipro (Western India Products) Limited listed on the New
York Stock Exchange.
 Wipro was initially set up as a vegetable oil manufacturer
in 1945in Amalner, Maharashtra, producing sunflower
Vanaspati oil and soaps.
 During the 1970s and 1980s, the company shifted its focus
and began to look into business opportunities in the IT and
computing industry, which was at nascent stages in India at
that time.
Wipro marketed the first indigenous homemade PC from
India in 1985.
