3. WIPRO – What’s in the Name ?
Wipro Limited Stands For Western India Products Limited.
A global company provider of comprehensive IT solutions and services,
including Systems Integration, Consulting, Information Systems
outsourcing, IT-enabled services, and R&D services.
As of March 2016, the company had 1,70,000+ employees servicing
over 175+ cities across 6 continents.
The company posted revenues of $7.7 Billion for the financial year
ended Mar 31, 2016.

4. History
 The company was incorporated on 29 December 1945, in
Amalner (MH) by Mohammad Premji as 'Western India Palm
Refined Oil Limited.
 The company logo still contains a sunflower to reflect
products of the original business.
 In 1966, after Mohammad Premji’s death , his son Azim
Premji took over Wipro as its Chairman at the age of 21.

5. History
 In 1995, Wipro set up an overseas design Centre, Odyssey
21, for undertaking projects and product developments in
advanced technologies for overseas clients.
 Wipro Infotech and Wipro Systems were amalgamated
with Wipro in April that year.
 In 1999, Wipro acquired Wipro Acer
 In 2000, Wipro got listed on New York Stock Exchange.

6. 2001 - Present
 In 2012 Wipro Ltd. announced the demerger of its
Consumer Care & Lighting (incl Furniture business),
Infrastructure Engineering (Hydraulics & Water business),
and Medical Diagnostic Product & Services business into a
separate company to be named Wipro Enterprises Ltd.

More than 47000 children benefit from the five education
projects in five Indian cities. Assist the livelihood of about 80
subsistence farmers and have planted more than a lakh trees.

2. Mission 10X:
Mission10X is a not-for-profit trust of Wipro, launched on
September 5, 2007, with an aim to enhance the employability skills of
engineering graduates in India. It aims to achieve this by collaborating

The Mission10X Learning Approach empowers engineering
faculty with innovative teaching techniques using which they can help
learners in imbibing higher level of understanding of subjects,
application of concepts learned and development of key behavioral
skills.
