In the late 1970s and 1980s, Wipro began entering the fledgling IT industry in India by marketing personal computers. It has since grown to become a $6 billion global IT services company with over 120,000 employees across 5 continents. Azim Premji has led Wipro since the late 1960s and transformed it into a leading global IT company. In addition to IT services, Wipro has other business units including consumer care products, lighting, infrastructure engineering, and medical equipment.
