brothers and afforded the privileges that wealth offers in an extreme poverty area. He graduated from
Calabar High School in 1969 with a grade average that was ranked in the top third of his class
(Montaldo, 2017). In 1978 his father was killed in a car crash and a short time later his mother died
from cancer. He would then suffer the loss of the family fortune. At 23 years old Ferguson left
Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the U.S. on a Visitor s Visa (Montaldo, 2017). Ferguson arrived in
America in 1978 into a time when there were mostly white families holding privilege and wealth and
leaving a cultural that was quite the opposite from American. Ferguson also came from a prominent
Jamaican family with wealth and privilege that he would no longer have.
The only jobs Ferguson could get in America were low paying and menial. He blamed racist
Americans for this problem (Montaldo, 2017). He got married to an American citizen who was also of
Jamaican descent. They soon moved to Long Island but Ferguson continued to be frustrated with
reports of loss of temper, outrage, and racial bigotry toward white people who he felt stood in his way

The artwork that got my most attention would be Giovanni Battista Tiepolo s An Allegory
Representing the Glory and Magnanimity of Princes . The painting started as a fresco on a wall, then
later transferred to a canvas. When you see it in real life its very immense in its linear height. The
work includes two life size human sculptors standing on a monolith or obelisk that is pointing to the
heavens. One of the sculptors of a man was represented as a warrior, because Tiepolo paints him with
armor while sitting on a scared looking lion. This show the prowess and superiority over a great beast,
a beast the usually creates fear in humans. Then Tiepolo achieves balance by painting a sculpture of a
woman next to the warrior. The painting of the woman can be interpreted as being elegant and
appropriate compared to the sculptor of the man. This can easily be seen on the painting, as the

The author Linda Pastan, imagines a parent running breathlessly to regain her strength from the
ending connection she once shared with her daughter in her poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home. It s a
mother s biggest fear when it comes to their child or children leaving home while going their own
ways when the time is right. This poem is based on childhood, fatherhood, and even motherhood.
Linda Pastan made this poem include various forms of figurative language to hide the literal message
that it s trying to portray. Figurative language is using figures of speech to make the text be more
powerful, persuasive, and meaningful. Figures of speech such as, similes and metaphors, go beyond
the literal meanings to give the readers a new way of looking at the text. It can come in multiple ways

comparing the bike ride to the relationship between the mother and daughter. The author describes the
mother going along side her eight year old daughter as she rides her bicycle (Pastan 915). The
daughter wobbled away (Pastan 915). This happens to be an example of imagery because it gives a
visual description of how the daughter was riding her bike. As she rides the bike further along, the
mother gets surprised by the way the daughter seemed to be in control of the bike as she goes down a
curved path of the park (Pastan 915).
Besides giving a visual description Linda uses symbolism to symbolize life. The phrase a curved path
represents life by it being joyous, unpredictable, and dangerous. Life doesn t go in a straight line, just

The pool that Robert formed using the ceramic media is three dimensional in form and is closely
shaped like a lima bean. The water of the pool, is made up of many different pieces of ceramic and has
several different shades of blue and green. In order to represent the movement of water within the
pool, Robert used complimentary blues and greens together and slightly swirled them to make it look
close to how water moves. Each piece of the pools water fits together like a tight puzzle. They are

number of casualties includes about 11 million military personnel and about 7 million civilians. Many
of those soldiers were young men. The poem Suicide in the trenches written by Siegfried Sassoon tells
what the harsh trenches had being like and how many soldiers became depressed. Sassoon was an
officer who earned a military cross after carrying a wounded solider through enemy s crossfire. He
fought in many battles till 1917 where he would then have to leave the war due to Shellshock. Sassoon
criticized the political leaders who sent young men off to die in huge battles that seemed pointless and

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is rushing blindfolded to a precipice with his proposal to amend
the constitution. If he does not listen to the calls to open his eyes before it is too late, he will fall off,

Dahal s blindness to the apparent facts is baffling. He needs 396 votes out of 595 in the parliament to
approve his proposal, which he does not have, even if all his coalition partners stick with him.
Here is the math. The UML and other parties which have 200 members are openly opposing the
amendment. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party, a coalition partner with 27 members, has made it clear that
it would not support the amendment.
Besides, the Madheshi parties, with around 18 seats, have said they would support the amendment
only with further concessions, without mentioning what.
It gets even more complex. Some leaders of Dahal s own party have openly opposed the amendment
in full or part. The Nepali Congress Party, the largest coalition partner, has the same problem.

CO2 Evolved due to Temperature s Effect on Yeast Fermentation of Glucose
Abstract
This experiment measured the amount of CO2 evolved based on yeast fermentation of glucose. It was
hypothesized that at room temperature, about 22 degrees Celsius, less CO2 would be produced than
when tested at 37 degrees Celsius. In order to determine the amount of CO2 evolved, an experiment
was set up involving yeast, glucose, deionized water, and heat. To begin the experiment, six
fermentation flasks were acquired. Six milliliters of 10% glucose was pipetted into each flask,
followed by 10 mL of deionized water and 8 mL of the prepared yeast solution. After each flask was
placed at the appropriate temperatures necessary for the experiment, the production of CO2 started to
be monitored. Data was recorded consecutively every two minutes over a time period of twenty
minutes, and recorded in a data chart. The average CO2 production at 37 degrees Celsius and 22
degrees Celsius was determined from the t test results. According to these results, the average amount
of CO2 produced after twenty minutes at 37 degrees Celsius was 123 millimeters, and the average
