The Snow Man By Wallace Stevens
In The Snow Man by modernist poet Wallace Stevens, the idea is brought up that one must have a
certain mind to see things a certain way; in his poem, Stevens explores the idea of perception,
challenging the realities commonly seen, with one common scene often interpreted. The poem
describes a scene in the midst of winter s gloom, then shifts into the perception of this scene, saying
how in reality there is no gloom. Stevens mentions how one must have a mind of winter (line 1) to
refuse internal psychological interpretations on the outside world. But at the same time, he is leaning
to the other side, saying how difficult something like that is. In an earlier line, Stevens says to regard
(line 2), but he laters shifts to behold. (line 5) The word behold implies awe, and the words that follow
it, the junipers shagged with ice/ the spruces rough in the distant glitter/ of the January sun; (lines 5 7)
seem to evoke a sense of melancholy. He follows that set up with a sort of obvious fact tone in his
next line by saying and not to think of any misery in the sound of the wind. (lines 7 8) Stevens is
stating that one must have a mind of winter, or a mind that is like winter, in order to look at all the
desolation, and not think of precisely that. But he uses language that sets up a very lonely mood,
which is the reality of what he is trying to say. As something is seen and perceived, minds interpret it
accordingly to what they feel; vise versa, something commonly associated

Essay on Dickens Social Commentary in Great Expectations
Dickens Social Commentary in Great Expectations
Charles Dickens Great Expectations stands as one of the most highly revered works in all of English
literature. The novel s perennial appeal lies in its penetrating depictions of character, rich panoramas
of social milieu, and implicit crusades against social evils.1
Dickens used the growth of his characters in Great Expectations, particularly Pip, in relation to others
to write about social reform, and most effectively illustrated this by using the first person narrative
style. In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens has written a social commentary using the development
of his characters to illustrate his message. In my paper, I will concentrate on three of the main ... Show

Dickens uses his characters to illustrate these themes. He shows in depth character transformation by
showing his characters learning these lessons through suffering and hardships.
Great Expectations is told by a first person narrator, the narrator being the main character, Pip. He tells
about his own life of selfishness and greed and how he learned through his own experiences how to
make himself useful and happy. This novel is a first person narrative because it is Pip s own story.
Since it is about his own life it makes it easy for the reader to identify with Pip and what he is going
through. In a first person narrative you know from the very beginning of the story the conflict between
the narrator and the main character will be resolved.4 In Great Expectations the narrator is the main
character grown up and telling about his experiences as a young boy. It would be difficult to tell a
story unless you really understand the meaning and importance of it and you can only realize this
through your own experiences.
Pip s first encounter with Magwitch, an escaped convict, is down by the marshes where Pip is visiting
his parents graves. Magwitch asks Pip, Where s your mother? Pip points to the grave and says There
sir. 5 Magwitch is startled and we can sense that he was a bit frightened also. From Magwitch s
nervousness we see that he is just as scared and unhappy as Pip. Pip is very

Communism And Anti-Semitism
From time to time, anyone who works in the field of Polish studies is bound to be asked, Why do
Polish Catholics hate the Jews so much? In light of the quotations offered above, how should we
respond? As scholars and educators, we will try to restrain ourselves from saying that the question is
vacuous, grounded in fallacious assumptions and horrendous overgeneralizations. Instead, we will
search for a more tactful response, struggling for an answer that offers some nuance without sounding
as if we were denying or downplaying anti Semitism. Few issues generate so many emotional
arguments as this one, and few have been more thoroughly explored by scholars from a wide variety
of disciplines. Here is some hard truth about the Jews and Catholics.

Jonathan Swift Satire
In the satirical work of Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the author draws attention to many
elements of society that can be reflected in the modern day. With further investigation into the
literature, it is plain to see that Swift, an Irishman, was extremely bitter about the state of the
government and the control it maintained over other regions. From incompetent rulers to a focus on
reason and rationality, we can see that the themes discussed by Swift in the novel have repeated
themselves throughout the historical ages. Throughout the entire story, it is noticeable to the reader
that there is not much in the way of plot surrounding Gulliver, the main character. Swift does not give
textual insight as to Gulliver s inner workings or thoughts. This arguably happens mainly in the genre
of satire because the author wants the reader to focus most of their attention on the social or political
that are being referenced to within the writing. The same holds true for this story, as Swift heavily
hints at the incompetency of King George I. One of the main points that Swift draws attention to is
that of the gross incompetency and corruption of the various rulers. For instance, in Book One, the
emperor of Lilliput is egocentric and for the most part, lets his ministers run the country. This is a
distinct hint at the King George I of England, who did not know anything about politics and allowed
parliament to do most of the ruling, holding him simply as a power figure. However,

Effect Of Witchcraft On Europe
The effect of Witchcraft accusations on Europe in the middle Ages Witches, are they real or fake? That
question continues to be asked today. However, in the Middle Ages, a time period blurred by war,
religious incursions, and disease, witches may have or may have not have existed, but something that
was just as bad if not worse did. Witchcraft accusations. Witchcraft accusations unleashed a whole
host of new problems such as: rampant persecution and paranoia, and the death of hundreds of
thousands of innocent people, and the use of politics rather than religion when they so often went hand
in hand.
The witchcraft accusations and the first witchcraft trials, begin with the Spanish Inquisition which was
started by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella (Spanish Inquisition). The Spanish Inquisition began in
1478 after it was approved by Pope Sixtux IV (Spanish Inquisition History of the Spanish Inquisition).
Although it was suspended by various kings and queens throughout the years, the Inquisition did not
officially end until 1834 (Ryan). The purpose of the inquisition was to try to unite the country under
one faith by forcing out anyone who did not believe or practice completely, the Catholic faith.
However, it was The Basque Witch Trials that went from 1609 1614 that was the greatest effort to get
rid of heretics or witches (Mastin). The inquisition was a political stunt because they turned hostile
towards other religions. Much like modern day politics. For example, gay

Michigan State University Broadcasting Services, a division of MSU Communication Arts Sciences. It
includes WKAR TV, WKAR Radio, WKAR.org, Radio Reading Service, WKAR Ready to Learn
Service and Interactive Video Services. During my time with them, I got the opportunity to work with
Jennifer Preslar. She is the Event/Project Coordinator for their Public Media Department. The project
that I m currently work on is the Indie Lens Pop Up, Screening of I Am Not Your Negro by James

securing guest speakers. Through out this essay I will further expand on my experience with WKAR,
and what I have learned thus far. The mission of MSU Broadcasting Services is to connect people to
powerful ideas that inspire personal growth, exploration of our world and positive change. (WKAR).
From what observed, everyone in the WKAR does their best to abide by the mission statement.
Everyone in this environment works together, despite their position. The employees and my fellow
interns, really created a welcoming and comfortable work environment. I also noticed that everyone
can propose new civic engagement projects. For example, I was working with Jennifer and another

Speech Reflection on History and Memory
Throughout time, perspectives of history and memory have changed. They have been moulded by the
events of our time as well as the texts and we read. The question of what is history and memory is
being raised. Is it a scholarly discipline that claims to record the truth vs. a cognitive faculty coloured
by trauma and emotion? To me history is represented as official memory of the winning side. As a
result, it is very subjective, selective, bias and with multiple gaps and silences. Once we are able to
understand how history and memory have been presented to us, though a wide range of text types as
well as our own knowledge of events represented in the text then we are able to more deeply and with

There is a vast emphasis on objects that contain personal responses showing the representation of this
event through these objects.
Now that we have established how these texts represent their event to portray history and memory, I
will now provide an argument as to their actual history and memory they provide as well as my own
history and memory that has been triggered from viewing these texts by analysing their language
techniques used.
Heaney, the poet of Requiem for the Croppies , has given a voice to the marginalised Irish, and has
therefore challenged the official history, for example, as seen in the line We found new tactics
happening each day; We d cut through reins and rider with the pike; And stampede cattle into infantry
. Such memories bring a sense of reality and emotion to the poem that often impersonal and
documented evidence cannot achieve. The use of half rhyme through the sonnet is used to being a
more sombre, serious feel to the poem. This is done to let the readers feel that this poem, though filled
with fire and passion, is still a tragic tale. But of course, like all history, Heaney s representation of the
battle of vinegar hill is still bias. Heaney has simply selected to represent and emphasise what he feels
strongly about. This can be seen in the opening line the pockets of our

Mass Legalization For Unauthorized Immigrants
A recent push to provide amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants in today s society has become a
very contentious issue for Americans. While most United States citizens agree that illegal immigrants
violate the basic core of fundamental immigration laws, there remains an unprecedented controversy
regarding the possibility of granting amnesty to this growing sector of the population. While some
citizens may argue that a mass legalization of immigrants could spark growth in the United States,
others speculate that amnesty could create turmoil throughout the country. In the preceding testimony
titled Mass Legalization for Unauthorized Immigrants Is a Bad Idea by the American Immigration
Control Foundation, the author claims that a mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He points out, classic economic theory teaches that as supply of a commodity in this case, labor
increases, the price will fall (AICF, 2016). The author was trying to solidify his point by appealing to
the emotions of the reader. Clearly, workers in the United States would not want to see their hourly
wage decrease due to an influx of migrant workers. Therefore, the writer was likely successful in
expressing his viewpoint to the reader. The use of pathos in this paragraph also demonstrates that the
author was passionate about his viewpoint. This rhetoric provides a strong and logical transition to the
next premise of the argument. The author s second premise employs ethos and logos to justify the
fiscal problems the United States will be forced to encounter by granting amnesty. Currently, the
American government is trying to stabilize an ever increasing national debt and find long term
solutions for national health care and social security. Adding uneducated and inadequately skilled
workers to our population could burden our current entitlement programs and increase public debt.
The author warns, granting amnesty or legal status to illegals will generate costs in Medicare and
Social Security alone of $2.5 trillion above any taxes paid in (AICF, 2016). The use of logos and
numerical data build a framework for the author s next few paragraphs. The writer

Social Exchange Theory In The Best Of Me
The Best of Me definitely doesn t have a fairytale ending . In the Best of Me Dawson Cole and
Amanda Collier were high school sweethearts. Dawson came from an abusive family that dealt drugs
and Amanda came from a loving family that had the money to live very comfortably. Their
relationship wasn t easy, but not because of anything they had personally done. What would happen to
Dawson and Amanda s relationship when they reconnected after two decades? The movie seemed to
include the social exchange theory (a theory that predicts people seek relationships where the benefits
out weight the costs), social penetration theory (theory that predicts as a relationship grows,
communication increases in depth) and gendered communication (women disclose more personal info
and use more words, while men are task oriented and direct). (Burns, Di Novi, Greenspan,
Kavanaugh, Sparks and Hoffman, 2014) Dawson s life was anything but easy. His father was abusive
and was against him getting an education, his father said that he was acting like he was too good for
them. Dawson s father got abusive once again and Dawson left. Dawson ended up breaking into an

communication hadn t deepened, the relationship may have ended soon after starting and if Amanda
didn t believe that the benefits outweighed the risks, the relationship wouldn t have become anything
at all. The gendered communication doesn t seem like it would have had any impact on the short or
long term aspects of their relationship. (Burns, Di Novi, Greenspan, Kavanaugh, Sparks and Hoffman,

Treadwell s Relationship With Animals In Literature
Human beings have always looked for similarities between themselves and other people as to gain
common ground. However people also attempt to make connections between themselves and the more
primal parts of nature. Animals have been along side people for centuries and them being by our side
we ve assigned them certain traits and meanings as an attempt to connect with them on a deeper level.
The Egyptians treated felines as almost gods in their culture because, after domestication, they killed
vermin which helped crops grow. That praise evolved into worship, and gave felines new meaning
among human beings. In many ways humans change animals to suit their purposes in literature and as
to allow us to more finely tune our imagination to the lives of animals. Human beings don t have any
idea what it s like anymore to be one with their natural surroundings which is why we focus so
intently on relating to the lives of animals. The more we try to become kindred with animals, the more
definitive the relationship between humans and animals becomes. Our relationship is almost anything
we decide it to be on our end of it, but as for the animals they seem to fairly indifferent. We can say
whatever we want to say about our own relationships with animals, but they re not going to ignore
their own primal instincts no matter what we say. This is demonstrated through Timothy Treadwell s
experience with the grizzly bears in Alaska. Treadwell truely believed to be a kindred spirit with the

Chipping Away at Intel Case Study
Chipping Away at Intel Case Study
In today s economy, corporations are consistently experiencing pressures to change. With pressures
both internally and externally, leaders must constantly reassess who, what, when, where, why and how
they do business. In light of these obstacles, they strive for the highest possibility of success by taking
risks and pushing limits that others may question as extreme. We are going to review the Chipping
Away at Intel Case Study to examine the different changes CEO, Craig R. Barret implemented, which
pressures Intel experienced and how he responded to these pressures.

Barret responded to these pressures by introducing more reorganization of the company and also a
change in strategy by cancelling the 4 GHz Pentium 4. This restructure of business units would ensure
that work was systematized throughout the organization. Huang, Chen and Han (2011) suggest that
even a reorganization based on top of the line principles will not be successful if it is not directed by a
strong, perfectly timed business idea. Intel s new CEO to take control after Barret was Paul Otellini,
and he was in for a big challenge to keep these changes moving in a positive direction.
If I was Paul Otellini, I would definitely step back, review all the changes and strategies which were
put in place and assess which worked and which did not. Also, communicate internally with
management and the employees to hear their concerns, ideas and thoughts. After reassessing
everything, I would then decide what, if more, changes are needed, both large and small.

Sports Violence Must Be Abolished
Hockey, football, and boxing all share something in common; and no I am not referring to the skill,
quickness, and finesse that is required for these sports. I am indeed referring to the intense physicality
that all three of these sports strongly value. As a devoted hockey fan, I am a witness to a great part of
the physicality that takes place. Therefore, I am well aware and understand that physicality is crucial
in order to compete in most sports, but we have to draw the line somewhere. When there is primary
intent to injure and physically hurt someone this is considered violence . Violence is becoming
increasingly prevalent in sports, and a majority of society is passive to the negative effects it is
imposing on society. Certain sports fanatics may want to argue that intense physicality and violence is
crucial for entertainment, as it brings in viewers. They may also state that athletes themselves would
not prefer to have that component eliminated as well. In terms of professional hockey, a poll
conducted by the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) revealed that a staggering 98
percent of hockey players did not want the fighting component to be eliminated in hockey, thus
confirming that most athletes may want the physical nature to remain the same. However, extended
research revealed that approximately 68 percent of Canadian hockey fans disagreed with the players
and wanted fighting in professional hockey to be eliminated. Keeping that surprising

Summary Of Killing The Rising Sun
Killing the Rising Sun by Bill O Reilly and Martin Dugard is a descriptive, well written book
wrapping up the end of World War II. Reading this book makes you feel like you are living in the
midst of the vividly depictive and picturesque scenes that O Reilly and Dugard bring the reader back
to imagine in this book. I really enjoyed this book and I think it really helped me to capture what
happened during World War II and the hardships and trials that the United States went through to
defeat Japan in one of the most decisive naval battles of World War II. I hope that in this essay I can

abhorrent acts toward their prisoners. They would deprive them of food, shelter, medical necessities,

The Open Window In Kate Chopin s Short Story Of An Hour
To begin with, Kate Chopin uses symbolism in a way that gives the readers multiple ways to interpret.
The symbol of the open window could be interpreted many ways but I took this as a symbol of her

after the news was given to her from her sister and husbands friend she found herself up in her room
facing the open window. While in her room sitting by this open window she starts feel something new.
Chopin illustrates that Mrs. Mallard was feeling something new by noting that she felt it, creeping out

everything the reader does at first. One example would be in the beginning when she does not know
her husband is dead and only Josephine and Richard knows of that news. Another example would be
that the story continues after Mrs. Mallard had died from the heart disease. The point of view is
important because if it was written in any other form than the we, the readers would not have known
what Mrs. Mallard was feeling after she got the news or what the doctors had to say after she had died.
If we say that the story was written in Josephine point of view, we would have thought that Mrs.
Mallard was in her room drinking or making herself ill; Louise, open the door! I beg; open the door
you will make yourself ill. (40). Or if it was Mr. Mallards point of view we, the readers would not
have known that any of this had happened because he did not that the accident had happened; He had
been far from the scene of accident, and did not even know there had been one (41). Chopin had
written in this point of view so the readers could be involved in all of the characters

Warehouse 13 Book Report
During this summer, my friends recommended that I watch a season of Warehouse 13 since I m fond
of science fiction movies, television shows, and books. I thought it was well made therefore I watched
all of the episodes and I love most of the seasons. The fifth season seemed rushed and was only six
episodes. Other shows I enjoy watching are Doctor Who, Supernatural, and The X Files but there s an
overabundance of episodes. Warehouse 13 is distinctive by seeing that it won t take up much time.
This show has five seasons and around sixty episodes. They last around forty minutes each so I
finished the series in two weeks. I normally don t binge watch; however, after seeing the Indiana Jones
based episode I finished fairly quickly.

Recording Techniques for Pink Floyd s Dark Side of the Moon
Recording techniques for Pink Floyd s Dark Side of the Moon
The album The Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd was an album that pushed the boundaries on
multi tracking and tape looping, as well as mixing in1973. The engineer, Alan Parsons, use many
unusual techniques to help create the sound that we know and love. Which landed the album on the
charts for 750 weeks. Dark side of the moon was first lead engineering job Alan had with Pink Floyd
and only took a year to record.
To record this album an EMI console, a 16 track tape machine, a Fairchild limiters, and an EMT plate
reverb were used. There were also up to five or six tape machines doing various delays, reverb delays,
ect. at one time. Alan remembers on the mix having to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first song I will talk about is Speak to Me in the opening of the song there is a heartbeat this was
done with a heavy gated bass drum. Alan used Kepex noise gates, which were new technology at the
time. The band also thought it was a nice idea to have some speech throughout the record. So they
recorded people answering questions off a stack note cards. Then Alan placed the voices in later where
the band felt it appropriate. (Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon)
The next song I will talk about Time . When recording this song many unique techniques were used
for the time. Alan suggested to the band the idea of using real clocks. He made stereo recordings in an
antique clock shop. Using a portable tape machine he record each clock one at a time. Then he put
them together on the multitrack tape by back timeing the quarter inch originals that he had and starting
that next one on time until they were all layer together. (Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark
Side of the Moon)
I think the clocks are a very important component to the song. It was surprising to me to find out that
it was Alan s suggestion. This just goes to show that the band trusted his creativity and engineering
skills.
The song opens with a heavily gated bass line, this was done live many times before the recording, but
it was the new gating technology that was mentioned earlier that allowed them to get the tick tock

High School Start Time
The CDC s Youth Risk Behavior Survey in 2011 showed that 69% of U.S high school students get
fewer than 8 hours of sleep on school nights, and 40% or fewer hours. American schools too early
start time is the major cause of this problem. It is surprising that study shows about 10% of U.S. high
schools start the school day before 7:30 a.m., 42.5% before 8 a.m., and only 14.4% at 8:30 a.m. or
later. (Wake Up Calls) I was really surprised when I heard that schools in America start from early
morning, because in my country, Japan, most of high schools start from 8:30 a.m. I often feel tired in
the morning because of the early start time of schools in here, and I cannot concentrate very well in

Adolescents who do not get enough sleep are more likely to be overweight, not engage in daily
physical activity, suffer from depressive symptons, engage in unhealthy risk behaviors such as
drinking, smoking tobacco, and using illicit drugs. (Schools Start Too Early) Therefore, if we can
make the school start time later, then the students will have more time to sleep which is good for their
health. Some people may argue that students can go to bed earlier so that they can still get enough
sleep. However, the American Academy of Pediatrics states that adolescents have unique sleep
rhythms that make it harder for them to go to sleep and wake up earlier than other people, so they
issued a new policy statement recommending that middle and high schools start class no earlier than
8:30 a.m. (Strauss) Because of this unique sleep rhythm among teenagers, we need to delay school
start time to give them time to get more sleep and a better health. In addition, making schools start
later can help solve safety issues such as reducing car accidents risks. 2008 Study found that, in one
town, delaying the school day by an hour reduced car crash rates among teens by over 16 percent.
(Palus) Driving in the dark or driving while feeling drowsy are very dangerous, so delaying school

think it s just about vampires in high school, but the second book features so much action. Overall I
would recommend reading this book because it is the first book that introduces the characters and
story plot in the six book series. I will read the next six books in the series because I really enjoy the

characters throughout the series. I think the book will be easy to relate to teenagers around the age of

Summary Of Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine
Everyone suffers loss at some point in their lives but, it affects people differently. Some are more
vocal about their feelings than others. Nevertheless, the pain of loss can push growth and maturity in
everyone. The harsh sting of loss however will never be as strong as the love from friends and family.
In Ray Bradbury s novel Dandelion Wine, the citizens of Green Town, Illinois endure loss in its many
forms. There is the death of a loved one, extraction of an object no matter how insignificant, and the
end of youth. These are portrayed during the events of the book as they happen to twelve year old
Douglas (Doug) Spaulding.
Throughout Dandelion Wine, Doug loses some important people in his life. Some are lost because of
death and one is forced to leave. The first loss of a person Doug suffers is Colonel Freeleigh. The
Colonel, nicknamed the Time machine , is an old man who has a very vivid and long standing
memory. Doug and his friend love to visit him since he able to tell wonderful stories of his past. He
dies of natural causes, but his death still comes as a shock for Doug. Later, his great grandma dies of
old age. She is ready to die and offers Doug some calming words about death. She tells him, Important
thing is not the me that s lying here, but the me that s sitting on the edge of the bed looking back at me
... I am not really dying today. No person ever died that had a family. I ll be around a long time

The Reflection Of My Writing On Technology And Technology
Most of the time when I am writing a paper, I do not have a choice on what I am writing. But when I
do get to choose my topic, then I can write about something that I enjoy and feel passionate about. In
my experience with writing, I have chosen many topics. But most of them I probably did not enjoy
writing about that particular topic. There are very few papers that I have written where I really enjoyed
writing. But the paper that I am going to talk about was different for me because I wanted people to
understand my point of view on the subject. And so, I felt compelled to write about the topic that I
chose for this particular essay that I wrote in 9th grade. It is about technology, and its role and effect
on society.
The paper I wrote on technology was an essay. Like most essays, it had 5 paragraphs. An introduction
paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. My teacher also had me write an
outline to the essay, to help me stay organized in my thoughts. In the introduction paragraph I
summarize my main points. I chose three points about technology that I would mention in each of the
body paragraphs. In my first body paragraph, I talk about how technology has affected education and
the way people can learn. In my second body paragraph, I talk about how technology has changed the
way we communicate with people. And in the third paragraph, I talk about how technology has
changed the way we entertain ourselves.
I chose to write about technology partially because at the time that I was writing that essay, a close
family member in my household was experiencing health issues when they were around technology.
And so I had to live with very little to no technology for about a year. And that probably sounds like I
was living in a different time era, and sometimes it felt like that. It was really a drastic time for me and
my family. Because in this world, technology is used for everything. And so we had to adapt to not
being with it when we were home. It was a really different experience. But it happened for a reason.
And I learned how to live without constant technology.
Technology has changed education for the better. People have so much knowledge at their fingertips
when they can access

Merit Scholarship Analysis
I am writing my appeal for the Merit Scholarship for the upcoming Fall 2015 2016 semester at Dillard
University.
In life there are many transitions and change that occurs. Coming from L.W. Higgins High School in
Marrero, I maintained a 3.0+ GPA. I had good relationships with my teachers and school was never a
problem for me. The difference is that I had brought the same mentality to Dillard University thinking
that it would be the same, but it was totally different from what I expected. I am being honest that I
was distracted and I have to learn how to balance everything that was going on in my personal life and
it was a struggle to balance my social, spiritual and my education.
With always doing well in school without studying. I learned that I do not know how to study and I
thought I did not need to and I was in for a rude awakening. I was not really asking for help. I didn t
use the resources at student success to help me in areas of studying where I lacked. I started studying
with a group of people that kept me more grounded and I was doing better in my grades and my
overall performance. This is why I picked Dillard as a university because I have met people that really

Everythingis Bigger In Texas. This Phrase Has Been Said
Everything is bigger in Texas. This phrase has been said or hear at least once by every person in
Texas. Even tourists poke fun at the phrase when they get a chance. Texas is known for the cowboys,
saddle, and horses. Although these are just stereotypes, they are slightly true. Texas loves its horses,
but it also loves it pride. Like many states, it has a long history before it joined the US. Texas is also a
state with many political differences, but it is based around one particular political culture. Political
culture is like a culture itself; many beliefs and habits blended into one single community, but
involving politics. Texas especially, has a variety of international beliefs, but its politics mainly
revolves around one subculture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the reasons why it has many political views, still until this day. However, as stated
before, it is still dominated by the will to protect personal welfare, and no government intervention.
In class, we had discussed how Texas is individualistic because of its independence traits. Daniel
Elazar describes Texas a the lone star; they are getting help from the government, but in the end, they
prefer to be free of control. One enormous example is the right open carry. Texas is perhaps the state
who exercises this right the most. In 1955, the act was carried and boy, did Texas loved this law. They
felt independent, and like if they were their own protection. They did not need any form of police
force, or the under thought that the government was there to help them. They were in control of their
safety, and will act upon any dangerous encounter. Furthermore, Texas also love to put that sign,
Trespassers will be shot . It is not uncommon to hear a case in court in which an intruder was shot by a
shotgun by the owner, and the citizen is protected by law. There is a national presumption that Texas
loves guns, and they aren t far off. However, guns is a symbol of freedom, and the feeling to be free
from any sort of protection of law enforcement is a breather for Texans.
Texas is also individualistic in the way that it supports private business, and individual

One Less Lonely Girl Play Analysis
On Friday, November 23, at 7 p.m., I went to see the DHS Factor, with a friend, at the Richard
Brunelle Performance Hall. I chose to attend this performance because I was interested in seeing
different people from our school perform in front of an audience. It was nice to see the wide variety of
talent that is found at our school. A nice touch to the production was having a student, teacher, and
former student be the judges for the night. The final student act in the production of the DHS Factor
was a performance by seniors, Will Wyman and Iain Smith. Unlike the rest of the contestants, they had
a more satirical approach to their performance. They chose to sing the song, One Less Lonely Girl by
Justin Bieber. It was clear from the very beginning of their act, that they were not trying to hit the

One act in particular stood out as a parallel to the acts performed by the King and the Duke in the

Nobody seemed to care in both circumstances that the performances were meant as a serious
representation of the talent show. Will and Iain s act included singing and dancing, but that was only
the surface of their talent . Their true talent was making the audience laugh. For the King and the
Duke, their audience was glad to have a performance that made them laugh as well. It was different

Why People Commit Crimes And Explain How Judiciary...
When we were little children, an adult would ask you what you want to be when you grow up. Most

prosecutor or judge. I have changed my mind about being a prosecutor and judge because it is too
political. I would be fair. However, I would not make a very good political candidate. Even though

Because judiciary professionals face three main issues on a regular basis, the judge is responsible for
coming up with a decision. The prosecutor is responsible for having enough evidence to pursue a trial.
The prosecutor is the representative of the state and wields tremendous power (Wright, 2012). The
defense attorney is responsible for proving beyond a shadow and a doubt that the client is innocent.
The job of the defense attorney is, by any standard, difficult. It is difficult for a variety of reasons.
First, defendants often talk to the police without an attorney present. When they do this, they
themselves in crimes and to provide police with evidence that can later be used against them. Second,
defense attorneys often handle so many cases that it is simply impossible for them to understand the
details of each case. To manage the large number of criminal cases they are responsible for, defense
attorneys often have little choice but to spend only a few minutes with each defendant and to base
their legal recommendations on the information they receive from their clients and the prosecutor s
office. Third, most of the defendants in the criminal justice system are from the lower socioeconomic
classes. These defendants sometimes do not fully understand their legal rights, nor do they have
resources to hire expert witnesses or to investigate the evidence obtained by the

Failure Of The American Education System
Good afternoon my fellow Americans. Today I stand here on one of the greatest countries in the
world. America was built on the simple principles brought by our founding fathers, liberty and justice
for all. What makes this country great is the people that work hard every day with the liberties granted
to them. Our great people need a great leader to protect their liberties in order for them to prosper. It
is, without a doubt, true that America and the American people are great. However, I can t put the

Punk Rock Essay
Punk rock is a unique and changing musical genre that was born in both England and the United
States in the late 1970s. A largely underground music scene with a reliance on a rejection of societies
norms, dismissal of capitalism and consumption, heavy reliance on community, and a strong attitude
of do it yourself and self empowerment, punk continues to have a large influence on the contemporary
music scene. Punk rock, however, has faced issues when dealing with concepts of sex and gender.
Bands within the scene are usually composed of males, women are objectified in song lyrics, and
masculine values like aggressiveness and violence are often glamorized, especially in sub genres of
punk such as hardcore punk. But women have managed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the demise of many hardcore bands in the mid Eighties, bands such as Bad Religion kept the
scene going, and were influences towards punk bands that would later go on to much mainstream
success such as Green Day, The Offspring, and Blink 182. One specific moment in punk rock history
that deals specifically with women, as well as issues of sex and gender, is the development of the Riot
Grrrl movement in the early 1990 s. This movement came mostly out of the punk rock scene in
Olympia, WA and Washington D.C. Women found themselves pushed out of punk due to the
increasing aggressiveness in the punk scene, especially at concerts . Bands like Bikini Kill, and fan
publishes magazines ( zines ) such as Jigsaw began to address the issue of women in punk rock. The
first Riot Grrl Convention was held in Washington, D.C. in 1992. There were seminars dealing with
writing zines and buying guitars, as well as dealing with eating disorder and fighting sexism. Punk
rock, and specifically the Riot Grrrl movement, has been used to empower women and give them
control over their lives. Punk s celebration of the individual, and its embrace of those who challenge
the norms and standards of society, made it the perfect culture for women who refused to accept
society s notions of femininity and gender roles. This is a tradition that has a long history within

Piaget Theory of Cognitive Development
Jean Piaget sought to understand and explain to others how the brain changes from birth until the mid
teens. There are so many huge developments during those years and Piaget got them down to four
stages. The four stages in Piaget s Theory of Cognitive Development are the sensorimotor stage,
preoperational stage, concrete operational stage, and formal operational stage. These stages cover
things such as reflexes to adolescent egocentrism. (Santrock)
The first stage, the sensorimotor stage, last from birth to around two years old (Santrock. Generally,
infants begin to develop a way of understanding their surroundings by integrating physical and ...

Two to seven years old also ask a lot of questions, especially why because they are so curious. One of
the mastery tasks in this stage is centration. Centration is when attention is focused on a certain
characteristic and another is ignored. For example, a child could be shown two bottles of the same size
with the same amount of liquid and once one of the bottles was poured into a different container they
would think that it was a different amount than before. (Santrock)
The concrete operational stage occurs during seven to eleven years of age. Children are now able to
perform concrete operations, such as math. They also develop the ability to reason logically if it isn t
abstract. Seriation and transitivity are also included in this stage. Seriation, a mastery task, is when
children can order numbers, objects, etc. into a correct order with things such as numerical order or
length. (Santrock)
The formal operational stage occurs from eleven to fifteen years of age. Adolescents reason more
logically and can understand and imagine abstract circumstances/ideas. These children will begin to
create ideal circumstances in their minds. This is very common, especially in girls who will imagine
their perfect life, family, husband, etc.. Eleven to fifteen years old are also much better at creating

Essay On Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is a chronic lifelong disease that causes inflammation of the
gastrointestinal (GI) tract. There are two most common types of IBD, Chrohn s disease and Ulcerative
colitis. The GI is responsible for digestion of food, absorption of nutrients, breaking down, and
elimination of waste from the body. The GI tract includes all of the parts of the body that digest food.
It begins with mouth it follows down your throat into the esophagus, through stomach, small intestine,
large intestine, rectum, and it finishes with your rectum. Chrohn s disease and ulcerative colitis have
many things in common but they have some important differences. There is also a third type of IBD,
indeterminate colitis can sometimes be diagnosed.

Barbara Kingsolver s The Posionwood Bible
The Posionwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver, tells the story of the Price Family. Nathan Price, the
father, makes the decision to move his family in the 1960 s from America to the Congo to be
missionaries. Kingsolver s novel centers on providing the female members a chance to speak for
themselves and tell their own stories. Rachel, the oldest daughter is materialistic and egotistical. In
The Posionwood Bible, Rachel Price manipulates diction, tone, and selection of detail to fashion her
hackneyed teenager voice, which leads to her becoming a paragon of America s ideology throughout
the book. Throughout the book Rachel maintained diction that was true to her birthplace. In the
beginning of the book, when the Price family just arrived to the ... Show more content on

Not my clothes, there wasn t time, and not the Bible it didn t seem worth saving at that moment, so
help me God. It had to be my mirror (299). While the other sisters, focus on the destruction the ants
and conditions of their family, Rachel first words are dedicated to her concerns for her mirror. By
focusing on the mirror and not her family s whereabouts, she emphasizes her narrow vision which is
selfish and supports her obsession with herself and with materialism. The choice of the mirror is on
the surface a reflection of her vanity, but could also be considered an attempt to hang onto the image
she has of herself, a need to preserve some aspect of the privileged teen that she wants to be.
Similarly, America, at the time, spent a great deal of time devoted to their image and ensuring it stood
up to that of European countries. In addition to focusing on herself, Rachel also focuses on physical
appearance of others. When observing the villagers she says, Children dressed up in the ragbags of
Baptist charity or else nothing at all. Color coordination is not a strong point. Grown men and women
seem to think a red plaid and a pink floral print are complementary colors. The women wear a sarong
made of one fabric, with another big square of a different fabric wrapped over the top of it. Never
jeans or trousers not on your life. Bosoms may wave in the breeze, mind you, but legs must be strictly
hidden, top secret (43). Rachel often focuses her details on the physical appearances of

Skim Board History
Riding on a skateboard that is longer and wider than the normal skateboard is commonly known as
long boarding. People have actively starting long boards as they offer greater durability, stability and
traction. In addition, the axles have a different geometric factor than the skateboard. The popular
length of a long board ranges from 32 to 60 inches. They are more suitable than skateboards for
cruising, as the larger wheels provide a smoother ride. These enable longboards to have varied
functions. Some of these are transportation, slaloming and free riding, riding downhill, dancing and
spinning. Globe longboards in UK is a relatively new phenomenon, though they have been active in
the skate shoes business. Their knowledge in this sport has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Miley Cyrus´ Career Essay
In the one hour documentary, Miley: The Movement, pop sensation Miley Cyrus grants viewers
extraordinary access into her exuberant and spirited life as she ascends to the top of the iTunes chart
with her album Bangerz. As a teenage Disney princess, Miley accumulated millions of devoted fans;
now, just a few years later, Miley s suggestive music videos and public displays have permanently
replaced the blond wig of her childhood image with an original and controversial persona while at the
same time embracing her passion: music. Whether in the studio alongside Britney Spears, preparing
for an unforgettable Video Music Award performance, or on set of her latest music video Wrecking
Ball, Miley radiates confidence throughout her progressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The difference is that now Miley has the chance to express herself without direction from others. My
whole life it was never about having control. Shit would just come out with my face on it, and that
was it. So now nothing can have my face on it, my name on it, that isn t dope that isn t a part of the
movement. In an interview featured in her documentary, Miley adds a comparison between the
lifestyles of other pop icons in their youth to her own. Most people don t have their kid photos put up
and then be like, She s changed. Well, yeah. If you put up a picture of Lady Gaga at eight, and then
Lady Gaga now, yeah, she s changed (Schillaci). Therefore, Miley s new dubious movement into
adulthood is not so out of the ordinary. Nonetheless, the essence of her movement embodies the
revolutionary truth of self discovery, and teenagers worldwide who struggle with the fear of
persecution should take note of her effortless ability to express herself.
Miley s most prominent spectacle was showcased at the Video Music Awards on August 25th. In pro
twerker fashion, Miley launched her presentation with a performance of her summer hit single We Can
t Stop appearing on stage with a company of dancing teddy bears. Frequent tongue wagging and butt
slapping also transpired.

Analysis Of The Croatian Market In Croatia
In order for a U.S. Company to enter the Croatian market it is important to have a thorough and deep
understanding of the intricacies of the market. In order to acquire this knowledge extensive research
and investigation has been conducted. Below I have included a general overview/ analysis of the
Croatian Market which facilitates market entry planning and projects. Market Overview Croatia is a
developing country situated in Southeastern Europe it has a relatively small yet complex market which
plays a very vital role when it comes to political and economic stability in the Balkan region. Croatian
population consists of a small 4,170.60 million people according to the World Bank s data.

A social mindset prevails in various parts of Croatian society. It is important to keep in mind that
Croatia has recently recovered from the Homeland war just twenty two short years ago. The country
has made tremendous strides towards reconstruction and recovery within the last decade. Some major
setbacks the country deals with today are that the majority of Croatian income comes from
government funding, social insurance, or public monopolies. Not from the revenues of truly
competitive companies. Therefore, any reforms that are introduced that are in opposition to or address
corruption, public overspending, or judicial inefficacy usually faces strong opposition from privileged
majority on top. On a more optimistic note Croatia has a growing force of entrepreneurs who have
innovative and vibrant ideas which are changing the way business in conducted in many industries in
Croatia. These entrepreneurs and their businesses follow strong EU regulations and rules which make
them perfect potential partners for American companies looking to expand in the region. Market
Challenges Croatia s developing Economy is still after its gained independence in 1991. A number of
internal problems plague Croatia s development. These include Judiciary inefficiencies infested with
case back logs and a lack of expertise in commercial affairs, and a complex non transparent
bureaucracy. Corruption is also a major issue that people battle with when conducting business

  • 2. The Snow Man By Wallace Stevens In The Snow Man by modernist poet Wallace Stevens, the idea is brought up that one must have a certain mind to see things a certain way; in his poem, Stevens explores the idea of perception, challenging the realities commonly seen, with one common scene often interpreted. The poem describes a scene in the midst of winter s gloom, then shifts into the perception of this scene, saying how in reality there is no gloom. Stevens mentions how one must have a mind of winter (line 1) to refuse internal psychological interpretations on the outside world. But at the same time, he is leaning to the other side, saying how difficult something like that is. In an earlier line, Stevens says to regard (line 2), but he laters shifts to behold. (line 5) The word behold implies awe, and the words that follow it, the junipers shagged with ice/ the spruces rough in the distant glitter/ of the January sun; (lines 5 7) seem to evoke a sense of melancholy. He follows that set up with a sort of obvious fact tone in his next line by saying and not to think of any misery in the sound of the wind. (lines 7 8) Stevens is stating that one must have a mind of winter, or a mind that is like winter, in order to look at all the desolation, and not think of precisely that. But he uses language that sets up a very lonely mood, which is the reality of what he is trying to say. As something is seen and perceived, minds interpret it accordingly to what they feel; vise versa, something commonly associated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay on Dickens Social Commentary in Great Expectations Dickens Social Commentary in Great Expectations Charles Dickens Great Expectations stands as one of the most highly revered works in all of English literature. The novel s perennial appeal lies in its penetrating depictions of character, rich panoramas of social milieu, and implicit crusades against social evils.1 Dickens used the growth of his characters in Great Expectations, particularly Pip, in relation to others to write about social reform, and most effectively illustrated this by using the first person narrative style. In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens has written a social commentary using the development of his characters to illustrate his message. In my paper, I will concentrate on three of the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dickens uses his characters to illustrate these themes. He shows in depth character transformation by showing his characters learning these lessons through suffering and hardships. Great Expectations is told by a first person narrator, the narrator being the main character, Pip. He tells about his own life of selfishness and greed and how he learned through his own experiences how to make himself useful and happy. This novel is a first person narrative because it is Pip s own story. Since it is about his own life it makes it easy for the reader to identify with Pip and what he is going through. In a first person narrative you know from the very beginning of the story the conflict between the narrator and the main character will be resolved.4 In Great Expectations the narrator is the main character grown up and telling about his experiences as a young boy. It would be difficult to tell a story unless you really understand the meaning and importance of it and you can only realize this through your own experiences. Pip s first encounter with Magwitch, an escaped convict, is down by the marshes where Pip is visiting his parents graves. Magwitch asks Pip, Where s your mother? Pip points to the grave and says There sir. 5 Magwitch is startled and we can sense that he was a bit frightened also. From Magwitch s nervousness we see that he is just as scared and unhappy as Pip. • 7. Jonathan Swift Satire In the satirical work of Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the author draws attention to many elements of society that can be reflected in the modern day. With further investigation into the literature, it is plain to see that Swift, an Irishman, was extremely bitter about the state of the government and the control it maintained over other regions. From incompetent rulers to a focus on reason and rationality, we can see that the themes discussed by Swift in the novel have repeated themselves throughout the historical ages. Throughout the entire story, it is noticeable to the reader that there is not much in the way of plot surrounding Gulliver, the main character. Swift does not give textual insight as to Gulliver s inner workings or thoughts. This arguably happens mainly in the genre of satire because the author wants the reader to focus most of their attention on the social or political that are being referenced to within the writing. The same holds true for this story, as Swift heavily hints at the incompetency of King George I. One of the main points that Swift draws attention to is that of the gross incompetency and corruption of the various rulers. For instance, in Book One, the emperor of Lilliput is egocentric and for the most part, lets his ministers run the country. This is a distinct hint at the King George I of England, who did not know anything about politics and allowed parliament to do most of the ruling, holding him simply as a power figure. However, ... However, in the Middle Ages, a time period blurred by war, religious incursions, and disease, witches may have or may have not have existed, but something that was just as bad if not worse did. Witchcraft accusations. Witchcraft accusations unleashed a whole host of new problems such as: rampant persecution and paranoia, and the death of hundreds of thousands of innocent people, and the use of politics rather than religion when they so often went hand in hand. The witchcraft accusations and the first witchcraft trials, begin with the Spanish Inquisition which was started by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella (Spanish Inquisition). The Spanish Inquisition began in 1478 after it was approved by Pope Sixtux IV (Spanish Inquisition History of the Spanish Inquisition). Although it was suspended by various kings and queens throughout the years, the Inquisition did not officially end until 1834 (Ryan). The purpose of the inquisition was to try to unite the country under one faith by forcing out anyone who did not believe or practice completely, the Catholic faith. However, it was The Basque Witch Trials that went from 1609 1614 that was the greatest effort to get rid of heretics or witches (Mastin). They have been moulded by the events of our time as well as the texts and we read. The question of what is history and memory is being raised. Is it a scholarly discipline that claims to record the truth vs. a cognitive faculty coloured by trauma and emotion? To me history is represented as official memory of the winning side. As a result, it is very subjective, selective, bias and with multiple gaps and silences. Now that we have established how these texts represent their event to portray history and memory, I will now provide an argument as to their actual history and memory they provide as well as my own history and memory that has been triggered from viewing these texts by analysing their language techniques used. Heaney, the poet of Requiem for the Croppies , has given a voice to the marginalised Irish, and has therefore challenged the official history, for example, as seen in the line We found new tactics happening each day; We d cut through reins and rider with the pike; And stampede cattle into infantry . Such memories bring a sense of reality and emotion to the poem that often impersonal and documented evidence cannot achieve. The use of half rhyme through the sonnet is used to being a more sombre, serious feel to the poem. This is done to let the readers feel that this poem, though filled with fire and passion, is still a tragic tale. But of course, like all history, Heaney s representation of the battle of vinegar hill is still bias. Heaney has simply selected to represent and emphasise what he feels strongly about. While some citizens may argue that a mass legalization of immigrants could spark growth in the United States, others speculate that amnesty could create turmoil throughout the country. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He points out, classic economic theory teaches that as supply of a commodity in this case, labor increases, the price will fall (AICF, 2016). The author was trying to solidify his point by appealing to the emotions of the reader. Clearly, workers in the United States would not want to see their hourly wage decrease due to an influx of migrant workers. Therefore, the writer was likely successful in expressing his viewpoint to the reader. The use of pathos in this paragraph also demonstrates that the author was passionate about his viewpoint. This rhetoric provides a strong and logical transition to the next premise of the argument. The author s second premise employs ethos and logos to justify the fiscal problems the United States will be forced to encounter by granting amnesty. Currently, the American government is trying to stabilize an ever increasing national debt and find long term solutions for national health care and social security. Adding uneducated and inadequately skilled workers to our population could burden our current entitlement programs and increase public debt. The author warns, granting amnesty or legal status to illegals will generate costs in Medicare and Social Security alone of $2.5 trillion above any taxes paid in (AICF, 2016). • 17. Treadwell s Relationship With Animals In Literature Human beings have always looked for similarities between themselves and other people as to gain common ground. However people also attempt to make connections between themselves and the more primal parts of nature. Animals have been along side people for centuries and them being by our side we ve assigned them certain traits and meanings as an attempt to connect with them on a deeper level. The Egyptians treated felines as almost gods in their culture because, after domestication, they killed vermin which helped crops grow. That praise evolved into worship, and gave felines new meaning among human beings. In many ways humans change animals to suit their purposes in literature and as to allow us to more finely tune our imagination to the lives of animals. Human beings don t have any idea what it s like anymore to be one with their natural surroundings which is why we focus so intently on relating to the lives of animals. The more we try to become kindred with animals, the more definitive the relationship between humans and animals becomes. Our relationship is almost anything we decide it to be on our end of it, but as for the animals they seem to fairly indifferent. • 23. The Open Window In Kate Chopin s Short Story Of An Hour To begin with, Kate Chopin uses symbolism in a way that gives the readers multiple ways to interpret. The symbol of the open window could be interpreted many ways but I took this as a symbol of her newly found independence. She had just found out that her husband had died in the railroad disaster; after the news was given to her from her sister and husbands friend she found herself up in her room facing the open window. While in her room sitting by this open window she starts feel something new. Chopin illustrates that Mrs. Mallard was feeling something new by noting that she felt it, creeping out of the sky, reaching toward her through the sounds, the scents, the color that filled the air (39). By sitting near the open window, she starts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chopin uses the point of view of third person omniscient because Mrs. Mallard does not know everything the reader does at first. One example would be in the beginning when she does not know her husband is dead and only Josephine and Richard knows of that news. Another example would be that the story continues after Mrs. Mallard had died from the heart disease. The point of view is important because if it was written in any other form than the we, the readers would not have known what Mrs. Mallard was feeling after she got the news or what the doctors had to say after she had died. If we say that the story was written in Josephine point of view, we would have thought that Mrs. Mallard was in her room drinking or making herself ill; Louise, open the door! I beg; open the door you will make yourself ill. (40). Or if it was Mr. Mallards point of view we, the readers would not have known that any of this had happened because he did not that the accident had happened; He had been far from the scene of accident, and did not even know there had been one (41). Recording Techniques for Pink Floyd s Dark Side of the Moon Recording techniques for Pink Floyd s Dark Side of the Moon The album The Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd was an album that pushed the boundaries on multi tracking and tape looping, as well as mixing in1973. The engineer, Alan Parsons, use many unusual techniques to help create the sound that we know and love. Which landed the album on the charts for 750 weeks. Dark side of the moon was first lead engineering job Alan had with Pink Floyd and only took a year to record. Alan used Kepex noise gates, which were new technology at the time. The band also thought it was a nice idea to have some speech throughout the record. So they recorded people answering questions off a stack note cards. Then Alan placed the voices in later where the band felt it appropriate. (Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon) The next song I will talk about Time . When recording this song many unique techniques were used for the time. Alan suggested to the band the idea of using real clocks. He made stereo recordings in an antique clock shop. Using a portable tape machine he record each clock one at a time. Then he put them together on the multitrack tape by back timeing the quarter inch originals that he had and starting that next one on time until they were all layer together. (Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon) I think the clocks are a very important component to the song. It was surprising to me to find out that it was Alan s suggestion. This just goes to show that the band trusted his creativity and engineering skills. Some people may argue that students can go to bed earlier so that they can still get enough sleep. However, the American Academy of Pediatrics states that adolescents have unique sleep rhythms that make it harder for them to go to sleep and wake up earlier than other people, so they issued a new policy statement recommending that middle and high schools start class no earlier than 8:30 a.m. (Strauss) Because of this unique sleep rhythm among teenagers, we need to delay school start time to give them time to get more sleep and a better health. • 30. The Reflection Of My Writing On Technology And Technology Most of the time when I am writing a paper, I do not have a choice on what I am writing. But when I do get to choose my topic, then I can write about something that I enjoy and feel passionate about. In my experience with writing, I have chosen many topics. But most of them I probably did not enjoy writing about that particular topic. There are very few papers that I have written where I really enjoyed writing. But the paper that I am going to talk about was different for me because I wanted people to understand my point of view on the subject. And so, I felt compelled to write about the topic that I chose for this particular essay that I wrote in 9th grade. It is about technology, and its role and effect on society. The paper I wrote on technology was an essay. Like most essays, it had 5 paragraphs. An introduction paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. My teacher also had me write an outline to the essay, to help me stay organized in my thoughts. In the introduction paragraph I summarize my main points. I chose three points about technology that I would mention in each of the body paragraphs. In my first body paragraph, I talk about how technology has affected education and the way people can learn. In my second body paragraph, I talk about how technology has changed the way we communicate with people. And in the third paragraph, I talk about how technology has changed the way we entertain ourselves. I chose to write about technology partially because at the time that I was writing that essay, a close family member in my household was experiencing health issues when they were around technology. And so I had to live with very little to no technology for about a year. And that probably sounds like I was living in a different time era, and sometimes it felt like that. It was really a drastic time for me and my family. Because in this world, technology is used for everything. And so we had to adapt to not being with it when we were home. It was a really different experience. But it happened for a reason. And I learned how to live without constant technology. Technology has changed education for the better.
