Cyber Espionage
ABSTRACT
The aim of this report is to examine the topic of cyber espionage. Incidents and threats of
espionage committed using software tools have become frequent headlines in news stories in
recent years, thus the existence of cyber espionage is undeniable. This report begins with an
introduction of the topic, followed by a literature review. Moving on, two case studies specifically
involving the use of Trojans and sniffers to commit espionage will be discussed. The scope of these
case studies includes the attack mechanisms used and the countermeasures that could plausibly be
adopted, as well as a discussion of each case. 1.0 INTRODUCTION Cyber espionage is the use of
software tools to obtain secret or private information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An attacker can run malicious commands on an infected system to delete important files from the
victim system, or format the entire disk. Attackers can also infect systems with a Trojan and use it
to attack another pre defined third party system.
Some Trojans have inbuilt keylogging capabilities to record keystrokes made by the victim on the
infected system. These Trojans can be configured to automatically covertly email the log file
containing the recorded keystrokes to a pre defined email address. It is further possible to
configure an autodestruct feature in the Trojan, so that it automatically gets destroyed at a pre
specified date, and hence leaves few traces behind.
Such Trojans are capable of:
Stealing the contents of sensitive emails and documents
Recording passwords, credit card numbers, account information etc.
Stealing software programming code
2.3.2 Sniffers
Sniffers are recording softwares that record and store data packets being sent across a network.
Typically, sniffers can be used to capture, interpret and store data packets being sent across the
network. These captured data packets can be studied and analyzed to understand solve network
problems and keep track of network traffic. In espionage, sniffers are used to capture sensitive data
being sent across the target network. Common espionage threats associated with sniffers include:

Cause And Effects Of Tsunami In Japan
In March of 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake hit Japan, releasing a dangerous tsunami. Japan was not
expecting the magnitude of the earthquake and tsunami, and endured much hardship after the
disaster. The effects of the tsunami can still be seen in Japan today through its residents, economy,
and through actions that have been taken to further protect residents from future disasters. Though
the Japan 2011 tsunamiis one of the most destructive tsunamis ever recorded, dangerous tsunamis
continue to take place across the globe. The Japan 2011 tsunami not only affected the inhabitants of
Japan, but also affected people around the world. After disasters such as this, each area must endure
the aftermath of the disaster and recover from the effects.
A tsunami is a series of huge waves occurring when there is a major disturbance on the ocean
floor. Tsunamis often occur due to earthquakes, volcanoes, or landslides (Park 16). Underwater
earthquakes may produce waves that travel in all different directions. Some tsunamis lose power
and die out under water, others may produce large waves as they approach land. Tsunamis may
look like an onrushing tidal wave as they approach land, but do not occur because of tides (Park
6). Their walls of water can move across the open ocean at speeds of up to 560 miles per hour.
When the waves hit the coast, they can reach up to 100 feet (Park 5). The tsunami in Japan is
believed to have occurred after two of Earth s tectonic plates collided in the

Cultural Ethical Relativism
Ethical relativism is a theory based on the belief that there are no general standards that are
considered to be ethically acceptable. Ethical relativists believe that there is no actual standard of
what is right or wrong. The two forms of ethical relativism are personal, or individual ethical
relativism and cultural ethical relativism. Personal relativism, also called individual relativism, is
based on the belief that ethical opinions are manifested by the moral viewpoints of each individual.
Personal relativists believe that because there is no specific right or wrong, no specific opinion is
considered reasonable or unreasonable. Everybody has had their own experiences throughout their
lives, which has contributed to how their beliefs are formed.... Show more content on

Opinions are based on the beliefs of each individual culture. Individuals in each society should
focus on the rules and customs within their society in order to make the right decisions. Cultural
ethical relativists believe that one society s views and opinions are not better than any other, even
if the views are completely different in opinion. I do not believe that relativism would work as a
universal theory. Everybody has their own morals and beliefs. What one individual believes is right
may be completely different from what another individual might believe. Relativism may work as a
universal theory within certain cultures and societies but not likely among individuals. There are
certain cultures that share the same customs and beliefs but individuals from different cultures may
have completely different views of what is right or wrong. Supporters of ethical relativism believe
that there is no universal beliefs that

Ethnic Differences Between Ethnic Cultures

General Israeli Culture Introduction: Dominated by Zionistic beliefs, Israel is slowly opening to
new culture changes. Though divided in religion, Israel is ready to take risks to advance peace. Old
Israeli culture requires upholding standard traditionalistic values. Traditional values within the
Israeli culture tend to enforce solidarity. Globalized customs have brought forward new ideals to
their system. Due to the recent societal shifts within Israel, we can analyze Israel s culture using

For the most part, positions within a business are equal. All positions have a voice and are
allowed to contribute as much as they desire. In high power distance countries, lower level
employees have very little interaction with upper management administration. In the eyes of
Israeli business owners, keeping the workplace equal allows for diversity and stronger business
decisions. Israel maintains a low power distance by keeping jobs within the workplace equal.
They also do not restrict executives from collaborating with lower management. This collaboration
shows that Israel has a decentralized chain of command and that everyone is a part of the structure
in a business. Individuality vs. Collectivism: In terms of individualism vs. collectivism Israel has
components of both but leans slightly towards individualism. Individualism vs. Collectivism
expresses the degree to which people value autonomy or group work. Multi cultural groups such as
Palestinian Arabs, and Jewish Israeli s make up a majority of the population. Jewish Israeli
traditions focus more on individualism, while Palestinian Arab ethics display a more collectivist
approach. A study done by the University of the Negev, interviewed 1,190 Palestinian and 1,144
Israeli high school students. The study examined whether the student liked group work, or
individual work. Results showed that both groups had collectivist ideals, however, Palestinian
students had a higher score towards group

Figure Out Weather Earnings Management Is Fraud
Summary
The objective of this research paper is to figure out weather earnings management is fraud.
I included some information of earnings management first. Earnings management is managers
accounting choices. Managers may use different accounting techniques to create some opportunities
within the boundary of GAAP, so that they can make financial statementslook better. I stated the
top 5 techniques of earnings management and relevant examples:
The big Bath
Cookie jar reserves
Revenue recognition
Immaterial
Capitalization practice
Secondly, in order to figure out the relationship between fraud and earnings management, I find
some definition of fraud. It is an intentional conduct and materially mislead financial statements,
which also violate criminal and civil law.
Finally, after understanding the definition of fraud and earnings management, I found that earnings
management and fraud are similar. They all intent to distort financial statement. If we abuse
earnings management, it is easy to fall into fraud. Earnings management is a good point for us to
analyze fraud more, but it is still not a fraud because managers manage earnings within the
boundaries of GAAP. Introduction
The most important role of financial reports is to effectively communicate financial information to
outsiders in a timely and credible manner (FASB, 1984). Earnings are vital in financial statements
because earnings represent the company s value. Investors and creditors always look to

Water Problems in Texas Essay
Texas, with its abundances of natural resources, is facing a new demon, one that doesn t even
seem possible, a shortage of water. Water, without it nothing can survive. Texas is the second
largest state for landmass in the nation and ninth for water square miles. Within the borders of
Texas are more than 100 lakes, 14 major rivers, and 23 aquifers, so why has water become such an
important issue for the state? Politicians and conservationists all agree that without a new working
water plan, the state could be facing one of the most damaging environmental disasters they have
ever seen. The issues that shape the states positions are population growth, current drought
conditions, and who actually owns the water.

A study done by the Pew Hispanic Center in 2010 listed more 1.7 million undocumented residents
living in the state of Texas. (Tannahill) The population growth rate, whether by legal or illegal
means is only one of the issues that has been troubling state law makers and affecting the state s
water plan. The second issue that is affecting Texas water is the drought conditions that the state is
currently suffering from.
Since 1990 Texas has seen a trend towards warmer and drier summers than usual. Texas which
geographically sits in the south central part of the United States with an extensive border with
the Gulf of Mexico gets its weather patterns from both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Researchers have shown that warmer than normal temperatures in the Atlantic and Pacific
Oceans often lead to drier than normal summers. The research also shows that these trends will
last for more than 20 to 25 years. Since we have been in this weather pattern since 1990,
(Hembreee), hopefully we are nearing the end of the dry cycle. However, Mother Nature is
never predictable. Meteorologists are only able to speculate about a week in advanced with any
certainty. The eastern Pacific Ocean cycles between three phases, the three phases are El Nino, La
Nina, and Neutral phase. La Nina is cooling of the sea surface temperatures and tends to bring
more rain into the Gulf of Mexico and Texas. On the opposite

The Dangers Of Cell Phone Use While Driving
Introduction In the United States, there are many states and cities that have passed laws where
individuals should not use hand held phones or text while driving, however, none of these laws
actually restricts a person from using a phone while driving. The National Safety Council
reported that each year an estimated of 1.6 million car crashes are due to people using their cell
phones while driving (Texting and Driving Accident Statistics, 2017). One of the biggest reasons
that car accidents occurs is because the driver was not paying attention to the road and the things
around them. There are many things that can distract a person while they are driving, such as;
using the navigation, eating, drinking, playing with the radio, talking on the phone, and even
texting. In a single day, approximately 660,000 drivers habitually use their cell phone while they
are driving (Texting and Driving Accident Statistics, 2017). This is why the nonprofit
organization known as FocusDriven, has been so devoted and passionate about banning the use
of cell phones while driving and fighting to make it be illegal and unacceptable in the eyes of the
law. As an advocate, this paper is a policy proposal which includes research studies showing data
that supports why cell phone use while driving should be banned and possible solutions to take the
necessary steps in order to prevent drivers from becoming distracted and hopefully reducing the
number of car crashes and fatalities caused by cell

Romeo And Juliet 1968 And 1996
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet , is the most well known classical piece of sentimental
literature in the world. Throughout the years, it has been adapted into films by directors from an
extensive range of dialect backgrounds. Among those, Franco Zeffirelli s 1968 version and the
modern version directed by Baz Luhrmann in 1996, are both unquestionably the most successful
and popular variations. Roger Ebert, quoted Franco Zeffirelli s 1968 film version of Romeo and
Juliet stating The success of the film depends upon Whiting and Miss Hussey...They are
magnificent . The leading actors incorporate Leonard Whiting in the role of Romeo, and Olivia
Hussey essentially as Juliet. Peter Travers, quoted Baz Luhrmann s 1996 film version of Romeo

selection of costumes were exceptionally customary and traditional. However, within the 1996 form
the costumes had aroused a sensation of interest to the audiences. For Baz Luhrmann s 1996 film,
Romeo and Juliet s costumes were thoroughly picked and have symbolic implications to them.

Essay on Clinical Decision Support System
Abstract Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) apply best known medical knowledge to patient
data for the purpose of generating case specific decision support advice. CDSS forms the
cornerstone of health informatics research and practice. It is an embedded concept in almost all
major clinical information systems and plays an instrumental role in helping health care achieve its
ultimate goal: providing high quality patient care while, at the same time, assuring patient safety

Naturalist Themes In Stephen Crane s A Mystery Of Heroism
Naturalism Essay Stephen Crane is a Naturalist. Naturalists believe an individual s life is
determined by environment, chance, and heredity. They also believe that free will is an illusion
and that people should endure their suffering with quiet dignity. Lastly, Naturalists believe survival
of the fittest and natural selection govern people as well as nature, and people resort to the animal
during a crisis. Crane uses literary elements to create Naturalist themes in A Mystery of Heroism
and An Episode of War. Although both of the stories have Naturalist themes, Crane uses different
elements to create them. In Crane s A Mystery of Heroism he uses literary elements to create
Naturalist themes. One main belief of Naturalists is that someone s life is determined by
environment, chance, and heredity. Crane uses the setting and characters to create this theme. In the
story it says, Too, he wondered why he did not feel some keen agony of fear cutting his sense like
a knife. This quote shows that the main characteris not afraid. The setting of the war is one of the
reasons he does not feel fear. He has probably been in a more fearful situation since he has been
in the war. If he had not been a soldier and been in this setting he would be more fearful. Crane
uses characters to create this main idea by showing the other characters who argue with Collins
until he goes to the well. In A Mystery of Heroism it says, Of course, yeh will! Yeh ll run through

Decisions of the Paris Peace Conference
Italy joined the First World War in 1915. Yet after the war Britain, France and other victorious

Since the Italian government failed to fight for the gains, it was deemed incompetent. Mussolini

It faced the problems similar to those of Italy. There were 9 cabinets in 1920 28. Moreover,
Germany was unified by Bismarck. It inherited from Prussia the tradition of authoritarianism and
contempt for democracy. German people were dissatisfied with the inefficient administration of the
Weimar government. In addition, the Weimar Constitution vested too much power in the hands of
the President, which increased the chance for Hitler to become a dictator.
Postwar Economic Difficulties
Production came to a halt in Italy after the war. Over one million people became unemployed.
Besides, 2.5 million soldiers had returned and waited for jobs. Italy also owed a huge amount of
war debts. There was hyper inflation. Enterprises and factories closed down. The economy was
going to collapse. People longed for a saviour.
Other than war debts, Germany was also burdened with the huge indemnity imposed by the Treaty
of Versailles. No money was available for reconstruction. The mark dropped in value horribly
when the French troops occupied the Ruhr district in 1923. Although Stresemann could overcome
the economic hardship for the time being with American aid, the Great Depression of 1929 put
Germany in an economic crisis again. By 1932 6 million people were unemployed. People had no
hope for the Weimar Republic.

Evolution of Patriarchy and Matriarchy in Ancient...
The Evolution of Matriarchy to Patriarchy Patriarchy is defined as a system in which men largely
control women and children and also shape ideas about appropriate gender behavior. Throughout
history, climate change brought on changes throughout all developing civilizations and societies,
most importantly in agriculture. The development of agriculture led to the formation of complex
societies, the idea of surplus, population growth, and new technologies. As these effects of
agriculture became more prominent in growing societies, women were unable to participate in
some of the economic and agricultural activities due to their biological purpose reproduction. The
new working environments were unsuitable for children, which caused women... Show more

All of these societies gave women considerable influence within a matrilineal culture, even if
men usually had the decision making power. During these societies, it can be said that the
Golden Age of Matriarchy 4 occurred during this period of time where simple farming and
hunting and gathering was a major role. All of the societies that engaged in simple farming and
hunting and gathering had more powerful and authoritative roles in society because they were not
fully focused on reproduction. Instead, these societies wanted to limit their population due to
inefficient amounts of resources. As climate change took over in Mesopotamia such as extreme
flooding of the Nile River in Egypt and the growing problem of desertification, societies could no
longer rely on hunting and gathering. These methods were no longer producing the amount of
food needed to support the steadily growing civilizations. Farming techniques were introduced
which caused societies to develop new and complex ways for food production such as irrigation,
horticulture, and shifting cultivation. Food production and urbanization led to the formation of
states: formal political organization. The change from simple farming to complex farming made
it harder for women to participate because of reproduction. Since the society was growing so
rapidly, there came a need for more people in the society with all of the jobs created. The role of
women became primarily focused on reproduction, which created a

The Role Of Heroes In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Shakespeare s Hamlet presents the generic elements found in Renaissance revenge tragedies (
Revenge Tragedy ). However, although Hamlet is a revenge tragedy by definition, Shakespeare
complicates the basic revenge plot by creating three revenge plots out of one. By adding significant
innovations, Shakespeare creates three concentric rings of revenge (Frye 90), depicting an
indecisive protagonist who is an intellectual rather than a physical hero, an ambiguous ghost, and
several problematic aspects of the play, such as the reason for Hamlets delay, the confusion of time,
and the truth behind Hamlet s apparent madness. In a typical revenge tragedy, a hero is called
upon by the ghost of a family member to avenge his death ( Revenge... Show more content on

By portraying them as foils, Shakespeare helps illuminate the fact that this revenge plot has a
very melancholic, contemplative, and intellectual hero as opposed to the heroes usually seen
who immediately act upon request or knowledge. Heroes are often depicted as being immediate
in their responses for revenge as shown in the play Oresteia when Orestes hears of his father s
death and immediately prays to the gods to let [him] avenge [his] father s murder (LB. 21).
Although Hamlet first appears eager to avenge his father s death (1.5.35 37), his actions do not
reflect the truth behind his words. However, Orestes immediately starts planning is vengeance
(LB. 541 565), and when the opportunity arises he tells his mother that [she] killed and it was

The Bombing Of The World Trade Center s Twin Towers And...
I.INTRODUCTION
A.Attention Gainer: 14 years ago on September 11th 2001, America faced the worst attack in its
history: the demolition of the World Trade Center s Twin Towers, and of building 7. It ended the
lives of over 3,000 innocent men and women, 400 [of them were] police officers and firefighters,
and it permanently effected the lives of their families and friends. Imagine going to work one
day, and unexpectedly a plane crashes into your place of work, and your life is on the line. What
would you do? Call your loved ones? Try to escape? Take a quick look at this video clip and think
about that.
B.Reason to Listen: Now try to put yourself in the shoes of these people, or even in the shoes of
their family members. Imagine the horror, and later on the anger. Their loved ones, and these
people s lives were forever changed and no justice has been served even 14 years after the event.
The attack on these towers as reported and analyzed by FEMA and the NIST, both architecture
experts, leaves much room for doubt in the aftermath, opening the door for many questions. These
questions need answers, and they need justice.
C.Speaker Credibility (right to inform): Over the course of Spring Break, while you all enjoyed
your well needed rest, I worked tirelessly to uncover the facts and the truth about the demolition of
the World Trade Centers towers. I scrolled through countless websites and articles to discern the

The Importance Of Learning And Its Effects On Human Behavior
An individual will know things and will be able to perform different types of behaviours. Where
these behaviours come from however, depends on many things. Some things are innate
therefore, one can be born with the knowledge. Learning is a process that plays a part in
determining behaviour. Learning can thereby be defined as a comparatively permanent
difference in behaviour and knowledge that comes from experience or training. However, other
forms of learning must be acquired actively. Thus, any knowledge or behaviour that one may
have without being born with, was somehow learned . Various methods of learning have been
examined through different methods such as from experimenting on the salivation level of dogs,
to examining how one ties their shoelace. Conditioning on the other hand, although relatively
similar to learning, is not the same as learning. It can be defined as a behavioural process
whereby a response will become more frequent and more predictable in any given environment at
any period of time as a result of reinforcement, while the reinforcement is usually a stimulus that
is a compensation for an aspired response. A form of mental and physical behaviour that relates to
learning is addiction. Addiction can be defined as an irresistible craving on a behaviour or
substance whereby one will either be able unable to stop the addiction, or continue to crave it.
Addictions usually increase in severity over time unless precautions or steps have been taken to

Syntax In Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address
In Abraham Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address, he addresses the nation. At the end of the Civil
War, both the North and South still had issues with each other. Lincoln s speech calls both the
North and South to put their problems aside that s preventing them from getting along. In this
speech, Lincoln uses tone, diction, and syntax to help reach the purpose of the speech. Lincoln s
tone encourages the Americans to finish the Civil War and the progress as becoming a nation.
According to The Avalon Project it says, let us strive on to finish the work we are in and to do all
which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace. Lincoln s tone, that he uses, is hopeful: he

According, to The Avalon Project it says, While the Inaugural Address was being delivered from
this place, devoted altogether to saving the Union without war, insurgent agents were in the city
seeking to destroy it without war, seeking to dissolve the Union and divide effects by negotiation
and All dreaded it all sought to avert it. The differentiation in the lengths of the sentences can
show the difference between the North and South, and Lincoln s tendency to combine them to
make a strong country. This syntax helps highlight Lincoln s purpose of joining a divided country
by merging two different sentence lengths to make a powerful speech, showing that the
combination of the Confederacy and the Union will make a strong country. Lastly, Lincoln uses
syntax to make a call for a unified country, mainly as he concludes. According, to the article The
Avalon Project it says let us strive to finish the work we are in, to bind up the country s wounds,
to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan. With this
conclusion, Lincoln encourages the North, as winners, to no longer make war, but to make peace,
and should care about the people who have been wounded in the

Jane Addams and the Successful Hull House Essay
Jane Addams and her colleague, Ellen Gates Starr, founded the most successful settlement house in
the United States otherwise known as the Hull House ( Settlement 1). It was located in a city
overrun by poverty, filth and gangsters, and it could not have come at a better time (Lundblad 663).
The main purpose of settlement houses was to ease the transition into the American culture and
labor force, and The Hull House offered its residents an opportunity to help the community, was a
safe haven for the city, and led the way through social reform for women and children.
Laura Jane Addams was born in Cedarville, Illinois on September 6, 1860. Addams lost her mother

At first, Addams and Starr were only offering readings and painting slides, but the Hull House
took a turn when they realized the need for a safe child environment. A kindergarten was added
to the house with 24 enrolled children and 70 on the waiting list, and a day nursery followed
soon after. But the Hull House was not only for mothers and children. Starr offered sewing and
cooking lessons for girls, while Addams ran a boy s club. Lectures and classes on a wide range of
subjects including English, citizenship and art were offered for free by social reformers, students
and university teachers like Susan B. Anthony and Frank Lloyd Wright ( Hull House1).Soon after,
Addams and Starr were joined by Julia Lathrop, a college friend and lawyer, and Florence
Kelley, a member of the Socialist Labor Party. It was because of Kelley that the Hull House
became a center for social reform. She, along with Alzina Stevens and Mary Kenney, spear headed
the research of the sweating trade in Chicago which lead to the passing of the Illinois Factory Act
of 1893. As a result, Kelley, Stevens and Kenney were recruited by Senator John Altgeld as
factory inspectors. Other working class women interested in social reform also educated the
middle class of the Hull House ( Hull House 1). By 1907, the Hull House had expanded to include

Investigating The Stock Price Reaction Of Firstenergy And...
1. Introduction The aim of this study is to investigate the stock price reaction of FirstEnergy and
Allegheny to various merger related announcements. The study will also identify the presence of
any run up abnormal returns prior to the first formal announcement due to potential information
leakages, insider trading or rumours. FirstEnergy is an energy company that formed in 1997, as
a result of the merger between Ohio Edison and Centerior, which serves a large customer base.
FirstEnergy and its subsidiaries provide utility goods and services as a private enterprise and, as a
result, form one of the USA s largest investor owned utility companies. FirstEnergy announced
plans to acquire Allegheny Energy, an electric utility company formed in 1925, in 2010 and the
merger, worth $4.7 billion, was completed the following year. The paper differs from others as it
will provide insight and evaluation into which event during the merger process had the largest
effect and identify whether this was the same for both firms, especially since the merger was
undertaken in a tough regulatory environment which contains many hurdles (). The results of this
paper could be attributed to other firms in the industry or, potentially, to other industries with
similar regulatory structures. The structure of this proposal, which will be consistent with the final
paper excluding the empirical findings, proceeds as follows. Section 2 reviews selected literature

For example me and my boyfriend have been looking at houses to move in for a while now. We
found this one we really liked the outside looked great to start fresh. We wanted to see on the
inside so we made a time to go in. Right before we went in, the owner told us how great shape
the house was well when we got into the house it smelled bad the walls was yellow there was
stains in the carpet and rat crap everywhere it was just so nasty half of the doors didn t open
easily. That for 500 a month is a no it wasn t in no good shape. So the owner telling us it was
really good shape inside and it wasn t he lied so there s a good example to not believe everything
someone tells you. Another example is my grandparent got me a car and the people they got it
was running good, a great car and nothing was wrong with it, but that was a lie cause It broke
down within a year and in that year and I had to put work in it a lot. Had to get new tires there
was something dripping from the bottom and we could never figure out what was wrong with.
But there was another example of how to not believe everything someone tells you. They could
just be telling you all this good stuff to get it off their hands so they ain t got to worry about it

Three Rules To Live By Dale Carnegie Summary
In order to be successful at handling people this book states that there are 3 rules to live by; don t
criticize, condemn or complain, give honest as well as sincere appreciation and lastly, arouse in
the other person an eager want. Throughout part one of this book the author Dale Carnegie gives
many examples through history and his life that these rules are proved to be true due to some of
our nations biggest leaders and influences abided by them.
Carnegie wisely states that criticism is dangerous, because it wounds a person s pride, and hurts
their sense of importance, which, in time causes resentment toward the person who made the
criticism. B.F Skinner conducted an experiment to prove this. It was found that through praise dogs
learned more rapidly than with punishment. It was later tested to be true with humans as well. If
science wasn t enough, Carnegie also justifies this rule with examples of success from leaders such
as Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln who is quoted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

John Dewey, an American philosopher, believes that the deepest urge in human nature is the desire

Carnegie uses this fact to prove that people will literally drive themselves insane trying to find
the feeling of importance. To be successful at handling people the author gives us some advice

The Rights Of Life And Civil Rights
There are certain things in the life, that we, the people of this nation take for granted. Growing
up in a certain period can cause a different outlook on life, thus resulting in a clashing of
fundamental ideas on how life should be lived. While many of us go about our lives differently
we all are granted access to a list of unalienable rights. These rights which as humans are given to
us at birth. The rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The color of a man s skin does
not grant him access to these rights nor does it deny him access. For over a century throughout
this nation people were denied these rights due to the color of their skin. Many would argue as
the confederate did these rights do not apply to blacks because the black race is inferior.
Although, these ideals may seem idiotic now this was the ideology of the people who enslaved
my people throughout the years. The argument that was made against slavery was simplistic and
one that I agree with whole heartedly. On page sixty one of Stephens cornerstone speech it is
written the prevailing ideas entertained by him and most of the leading statesmen at the time of
the formation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially morally, and
politically (61). The difference in a persons social and political views are subjective to many
factors. The time a person grew up, their region, and social status play a role in those views.
However, as humans we all share the same the same

Dead Sea Scrolls Important To The World Today
The finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls is very important to the world today because they show
tangible evidence that God s Word is real and everlasting. They have had the greatest Biblical
impact on holy and historic events throughout history. The Dead Sea Scrolls have even been called
the greatest manuscript discovery of modern times. For these reasons, the Dead Sea Scrollsare
important to us today.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of different texts that were first discovered by a young boy
named Juma and his cousins, who were Bedouin goat herders, in 1947 in a cave at the Khirbet
Qumran in the West Bank near the Dead Sea, from which they derive their name. Then, in 1949
archaeologists searched and discovered more scrolls in ten other caves in the area. The texts are of
great historical and religious value. They include the third oldest known surviving texts of works
included in the Bible and they date back 1,000 years from the oldest known texts at that time and
are when Jesus lived. They also contain previously unknown stories about biblical figures. The
texts are written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Probably the Dead Sea Scrolls have had the
greatest Biblical impact. They have provided Old Testament manuscripts. The Dead Sea Scrolls
have demonstrated that the Old Testament was accurately transmitted during this interval. In
addition, they provide a wealth of information on the times leading up to, and during, the life of
Christ (Wood). Therefore, the Dead Sea Scrolls are important to us today.... Show more content on

Symbols In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
Friedrich Nietzsche once said, Words are but symbols for the relations of things to one another
and to us. According to dictionary.com, a symbol is something used for or regarded as
representing something else. There are many important symbols represented in The Lord of the
Flies by William Golding. These include the beast, the conch, and the signal fire. The beast, the
conch, and the signal fire are important symbols because they teach a lot to the boys and make
them who they are on the island. Who is the beast?; what is the conch?; and why is it important
to keep the fire? There is a beast in The Lord of the Flies. The beast is a figure of speech. It
represents the evil in all of us. The beast also stands for the devil in The Bible. Simon realizes
this after Jacks becomes obsessed with hunting and after he leaves to make his own tribe. All of
the boys on the island start to turn on each other; two of the boys are killed. Jack keeps
referencing to a beast on the island every time he hunts or kills a pig. There isnt a real, physical
beast. The actual beast is Jack himself. He shows no mercy to what he hunts, like when he and his
tribe repeatedly stab the sow and Simon. The beast is an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The signal fire stands for survival. Ralph uses the fire as a smoke signal so that when a ship

by Jack to cook the meat. When the hunters let the fire go out the first time, a ship passed by and

Elder told me a place to find out my spirit animal. I must venture forth to the old oak tree. It will
answer all of my deepest thoughts.
Once I arrived there, I asked the old oak, Dear Oak Tree, what is my spirit animal?
Your spirit animal is something you ll find on your own, it said. It handed me a map.
With happiness overflowing my body, I asked my friends to come, and they did.
We arrived at the Fruits of Knowledge. There stood a monk. He said to pick the right fruit, and
we shall proceed. The right fruit tasted like gooseberries. David and I both decided on the dragon
fruit, but Olivia chose the banana. The monk let her go, because Olivia wouldn t be able to meditate.
We moved on to The Mountain of Friendship. There stood a ninja. The mountain was covered
with ice. The ninja said to climb the bridge, and we would be able to proceed, but if we didn t,
then we had to work for him. David flew us to the top, and we slid to the bottom.
We arrived at The Bridges of Pain. There stood a man in a black cloak. He said we must cross the
right bridge, or we would face our greatest fears. David and Olivia both went on the first bridge.
Then the bridge disappeared. So I decided to go on the second bridge. And that bridge was
unstable, and I fell. But David caught me in time.

Designing A New Identity For This Business
I was introduced to Rayo Santos a new car lot in Lewisville, TX. I was given the opportunity of
creating a new identity for this business. The owner of Rayo Santos, Juan Carlos Olvera, gave
me instructions on what were some of the boundaries of the design, like using the colors of the
Mexican flag and using the name itself as the logo. Rayo Santos meaning Holy Thunder in
Spanish. Through the process of researching for inspiration and sketching, I finally found the
perfect solution by using a Halo and a Thunderbolt for the logo. I believe that going for a simple
and modern design was the correct way to achieve this design. After being introduced to Elda
Chavez, owner of Sky Event Center, I knew I wanted to take the challenge and the adventure of
redesigning their brand look. Sky Event Center is a place where the enjoyment of different
celebrations takes place. The previous logo had a good color scheme but in my personal
opinion, it seemed like it was made for a car wash and it did not appear to be made for a
ballroom, and surely did not reflect the beauty and elegance of the interior. I developed a new
logo that took out the beauty and gave it the sophisticated look it needed by using a self made
typeface that fits the business more accordingly. The mark itself is an abstract representation of a
flower and a disco ball with a combination of a cool color scheme, to remind the people of the
blues and purples of the evening sky. Dos Primos, a taco restaurant full of culture

A Dbq Essay About Mansa Musa
Like a dog does tricks for food, Mansa Musa did a variety of activities to spread word of his
fame. Mansa Musa, an ancient ruler of the kingdom Mali in Western Africa, ruled from 1312
1337 BCE. While Mali was under his rule, Mansa Musa, expanded gold salt trade, built a large
standing army, as well as took part in one of the 5 Pillars of Faith, a holy pilgrimage known as
the hajj. Although the hajj is a religious event, Musa used it as a tool to do much more than show
his devotion to Allah. Through his need to prove his importance, going out of his way, and
creating impressions, Mansa Musa s main intention while going on his hajj was to spread his
fame. Because of his need to prove his importance and power, Mansa Musa s primary reason for
going on his hajj was to spread word of his name. An excerpt from Al Umari s Masalik al Absar
reads, He had begun to use this argument but I realized that meeting [the sultan] was repugnant to
him because he would be obliged to kiss the ground and sultan s hand (Doc E). Mansa Musa
refused to meet with a local ruler for he feared he might have to show submission to him by kissing
his hand. The fact that Musa was reluctant to meet with the sultan illustrates his egotistical

The Four Major Approaches Of Sociocultural Evolution
Society refers to people who interact in a defined territory and share culture
(Macionis,2012,p.108). They are four major approaches that display ways in which societies
have changed over the past 10,000 years. The first approach was made by Gerhard Lenski who
talked about society in relation to changes concerning technology. Lenski uses the term
sociocultural evolution to describe such changes. Sociocultural evolution is changes that occur as
a society gains very new technology (Macionis,2012,p.88). In the earliest years, societies lived by
hunting and gathering. People made tools to hunt and gather food. Such societies were very petite
so it was easy for them to migrate whenever food was limited. Hunters and gathers spend most of
their time hunting and collecting food for them to satisfy their hunger. They depend on each other
to get their duties done. Women were responsible for vegetation and men went out to hunt. The
young children and elderly help out whenever they could. In most hunting and gathering societies
there is a leader who basically takes control but still has to go out and hunt for food. The basic
weapons used by such societies were spears, bow and arrows and stone knives. These communities
were not really prone to much danger the thing they feared the most was droughts and storms.
Gathering and hunting societies began to decrease as societies became more developed. Along the
way, societies developed horticulture, which is the use of hand tools to

will turn to inedible sources such as dirt and clay in order to stay alive. This is a sad way of life,
but it is also harmful to the human body because our bodies were not meant to digest such harsh
things like dirt and clay. Many people in Africa end up perishing from clogged digestive tracks,
they cannot pass it and it ends up being stuck in their digestive system and they die because
toxins that are meant to leave the body are trapped and slowly each of the bodies organs being
to shut down and the individual will surely die a slow and painful death. Africa is not the only
location where dirt and clay are eaten as food. In many southern states until the early 1900 s, sold
clay and dirt balls in many public places. They were easy to transport and did not spoil easily.

Compare And Contrast Functionalist And Stylistics
Two different approaches in Stylistics: Formalist Vs Functionalist
Stylistics as a particular way of approaching the meaning that a society produces has many tools to
analyze writer s or author s style of their works. There are actually several different approaches
toward stylistics including formalist, mentalist, textlinguistic/functionalist, pragmatic, radical and
empirical, however this paper will only focus on comparing and contrasting two different
approaches, those are Formalist and Functionalist.
Comparing Formalist and Functionalist
Generally both of them are interested in finding the meaning of the text, but formalists look at the
text semantically, while functionalists concern with the text pragmatically.

Firth and M.A.K Halliday. Malinowski, 1923 (cited in Burke, 2014) works on the importance of
situational context. Functionalists also look at context as important thing in constructing meaning.
Context will influence how we interpret a text. However, context is put in the highest level of
interpreting meaning. And then, Firth with his work Personality in language and society (1950).
Halliday (1994) (cited in Burke, 2014) in his work An Introduction to Functional Grammar
proposed what we called as metafunctions . Halliday believed that in a particular language there
must be tripartite functions, namely Ideational, Interpersonal and Textual. Ideational or well known
as experiential meaning which has a representational function is used to encode any idea or
experience of the world; it conveys a picture of reality. Interpersonal function means we use it to
encode interaction to see the social relationships. And the last is Textual function of language is
used to organize our experiential, logical and interpersonal meanings into a linear and coherent
whole and it provides the formal properties of language. (Halliday, 2014). All these functions work
simultaneously and they have relation one another. However, it still can be analyzed

Saddam Hussein s Full Takeover Of Iraq
This would set the stage for Saddam Hussein s full takeover of Iraq, making way for further
deterioration of Iraq Iran relations. Iraq would arrest several Iranian representatives and place
Ayatollah Mohammed Bakr al Sadr on trial for treason as a response to Ayatollah Khomeini and
Prime Minister Barzagan s continued support of the Shi a opposition to Saddam Hussein s Ba
athist regime. Furthered broadcasting of rebellion to the Shi a Muslims in Iraqand the assignation of
the Iraqi Prime Minister led to Iraq s execution of Ayatollah Bakr as Sadr. This would lead to the
first official militaryaction, Irans attacks within the Kermanshah province in September 1980.
With this attack Iraq s response once again circles back to the Shatt al Arab waterway, as they
order Iran to respect the pre 1975 treaty, withdraw from the province, end all support for all
opposition to the Ba athist regime and ender violence at the border. On September 22, 1980,
Saddam commenced an invasion of Iran, utilizing the violation of the 1975 Algiers agreement as an
argument for action. Saddam would begin bombing Iranian air bases in an attempt to destroy their
superior air force while still grounded. While runways and fuel depots were damaged, most aircrafts
were left untouched and they were launched within hours, targeting major Iraqi cities and other
important targets. Iraq would launch their mechanized infantry into Iran border towns,
overwhelming them, and allowing Iraq to occupy land within the

Cafe Terrace At Night Essay
The Colors of Cafe Terrace at Night It is no secret Vincent Van Gogh loves bright colors, many
of his paintings portray his world with lots of bright blues, yellows, and greens. One of his most
colorful and undoubtedly gorgeous paintings is CafГ© Terrace at Night. This is the first
painting Van Gogh did with a nocturnal background and yet there is no darkness in the back, but
instead the sky is filled with light blues and yellows; in many of the artist s paintings, even in the
day, the sky is filled with bright colors and swirls, Van Gogh says, I often think that the night is
more alive and more richly colored than the day. The painting was done in 1888, two years before
the artist committed suicide, and can be found at Kröller Müller Museum... Show more content on

One of the most recognizable letters is to his sister shortly after Van Gogh s trip to the cafe he
wrote a letter to his sister with his detailed thoughts on the cafe and his artwork. He wrote, On
the terrace, there are little figures of people drinking. A huge yellow lantern lights the terrace,
the façade, the pavement, and even projects light over the cobblestones of the street, which
takes on a violet pink tinge. It was obvious that Van Gogh was absorbed with the beauty of this
place. He describes the city of Arles, France as almost like being in Japan. He writes to his sister,
For myself, I don t need Japanese prints here, because I m always saying to myself that I m in
Japan here. That as a result I only have to open my eyes and paint right in front of me what
makes an impression on me. In September, 1888 Van Gogh told his brother that the stars held a
religious importance to him; his infatuation with stars took place in many of his paintings. Van
Gogh says in the same letter that he drew a photo of the same scene and sent it to his brother,
Theo; it can now be found in The Dallas Museum of

Brian Snare Analysis
The intricate universe of mergers is often a chaotic endeavor for many musicians, one where few
artists have found success unless that artist s name is Brian Eno. But let it be a pair of Canadian
producers to subvert this notion. A master at exercising the dichotomy between electronic
intelligentsia and the dark confines of breakcore, Venetian Snares (Aaron Funk) teams up with
prolific producer Daniel Lanois, whose name is attached to projects like U2 s The Joshua Tree and
Brian Eno s Apollo Atmospheres Soundtracks. As two preeminent musical minds come together to
bounce ideas off one another, Venetian Snares and Daniel Lanois self titled project witnesses the
duo pulling in their respective sonic backgrounds to devise contemporary terrains of sound while
pushing each other s unique talents into untouchable acclivities.... Show more content on

Although largely improvised, almost every composition off this album follows a similar ebb n
flow like structure. Take the track Night Mxcmpv1 P74 for instance, Lanois initiates the listener
s experience with swathes of ambient bliss but is then kicked into full lunacy as Funk s zany drill
and bass peppers in and out of a veil of shimmering chords. This unusual marriage of synthetic
styles has only been accomplished by one other electronic artist prior, by none other than Aphex
Twin with his masterful body of work. With this unlikely masterpiece, Funk, a pillar of IDM, does
what he does best and finds that menacing place where synthetic drum and bass repeat, speed up,
then abruptly punctuate at the mercy of industrial whirls of high hats and paradoxically cool

The society we live in distorts our own unique desires and goals. When in a workplace or

where one identifies what they truly want and breaks the mould and expectations of society to do
this. Examining texts such as Educating Ritaand The Devil Wears Prada in addition to my own
personal experience will bring forth an understanding of how society affects growing up and
transition into new phases of life into a larger world. The text Educating Rita is set Britain in the

her social context whereas in scene one she was questioning herself.
Rita always purchases new dresses to cheer her up, but now realises she is not content with it.
She stresses to Frank that It s like me isn t it? Buying new dresses all the time, isn t it? The
rhetorical questions and repetition enhance reflection on her learning and aim to move out of the
stereotype. In new second hand clothes this is symbolic of the ease she has in the middle class and
shows juxtaposition of new second hand clothes. This has highlighted how she has changed and
matured into the middle class and doesn t require materialistic needs like a dress to satisfy her
depression.
Rita in Educating Rita mirrors the same growth and change as Andrea in The Devil Wears Prada .
It is a 2006 film in times where individuals are controlled by the capitalist world and times where
pleasing your boss was the only ambition. Andrea is easily manipulated to suit her social context

her new appreciation for fashion which is negatively affecting her relationships with her friends.
Andrea then grows enough to come to realisation that she is controlled by the materialistic needs of
fashion influences by the industry. This is shown thought

Let s Talk About Sex.....Preference in Non Western Cultures
Introduction
Each day, over one hundred and eighteen million babies are born worldwide. According to the
biological sex binary male and female, every infant has the possibility of being born with sex
chromosomes female (XX) and male (XY), which causes differences in their biological
anatomies. There are also individuals with disorders of sex development or more commonly
referred to as being intersex. Intersex is an umbrella term for people whose sexual or reproductive
anatomies, sex hormones, or sex chromosomes just do not fall neatly into the definitions of male
and female. Examples of this disorder could include ambiguous genitalia, androgen sensitivity, or
abnormalities with how the rest of the body responds to sex hormones. The majority of cultures
around the globe give merit to and recognize the differences in biological sex (male/female binary),
what roles they have played in their traditions/histories, and their current position in framing politics
or societal structures. Some Non Western countries such as China, India, Taiwan, and Pakistan,
include cultures that exhibit a strong sex preference, or more specifically son preference. More
than simply preferring the births of sons to daughters, son preference develops from instances of
gender inequality where outside parties often question basic human rights. Non Western

Eclipse Is An Open Source Integrated Development...
Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse
Yujia Xie
I.Introduction
Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer
programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of
the most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in
2001, Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool
for developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of
programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its
accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development
Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.).
One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share
modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building
classes. For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was
designed specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that
would later benefit the performance of Eclipse. Eclipse provide an environment that individual
users can manipulate the framework to facilitate their daily work. Like most of the open source
software, originally, Eclipse was written by a group of paid, full time developer, setting up the
fundamental structure at

The Lovesong Of T. S Eliot And Not Waving But Drowning By...
The turn of the 20th Century marks a substantial evolution for the pursuit of English Literature
responding to the larger socio political developments berthed by the rapid onset of
industrialization. The Modern Tradition of English literature, as literary critics refer to the period
today, transforms our understanding of english literary mechanics in that both poets and authors
examined the repercussions of industrial society on urbanites and rural peoples alike through
experimental prose and verse styles, forever changing the English Language. In particular, the
poetry of T.S Eliot in his breakout poem, The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock written in 1915, and
Not Waving but Drowning written by poetess Steve Smith in 1953, reflect a particular sentiment
spanning an entire generation of both poetic and public society in which the burdens of modern
living within a capitalist society complicate man and women s ability to express their
individuality, much less understand their place among the vastness of the cosmos. By reading
Steve Smith s Not Waving but Drowning as it relates to themes such as misunderstanding
helplessness in the face of doom which T.S Eliot employs in, The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock
, one finds that Smith s drowning man compounds our understanding of Prufrock s suffering; two
individuals who fail to discover themselves, nor any meaningful purpose and life; and offers an
response to despair through the voice of the drowned man s friends that

The Humanistic Approach To Psychology
Humanism, also known as the phenomenological approach, is a contemporary approach to
psychology that focuses on the whole person . It stresses the idea that a person is an individual and
is unique. Humanists look at behavior through the eyes of the person, not as an observer. Everyone
needs to be treated differently based on their unique personality. They believe that a person s
behavior is determined by their perception of the world around them, not their environment or
genetics. Humanism begins with the belief that people have free will, or personal agency as it s
called in humanism, and that all people are inherently good. It is believed that everyone wants to
make themselves and the world a better place. They have a natural born drive to fulfill their
maximum potential. Humanism emphasizes personal worth and basic human values. Humanists
are not concerned about instinctual drive, external forces, or past experiences. Instead humanists
use the ideas of love, fulfillment, self worth, and independence to help people as they are the basic
human wants. Humanism rose to prominence in the mid 20th century. American psychologists
Abraham Maslow and Clark Moustakas met with other psychologists in 1957 and 1958 to discuss
developing an organization devoted to a different approach to mainstream psychology. They wanted
self actualization, creativity, health and individuality to be the major focuses of the approach. In
1961, with assistance from Brandeis University, the

hundreds of thousands or even millions, of dollars on cybersecurity, but when it comes to small

Customer Information Whenever a customer gives you personal or classified information to
complete an application, transaction, or another request, you owe them protection and privacy. If
data you have in your possession is leaked whether on purpose or carelessly, you could be held
accountable. One of the distinguished biggest mistakes small businesses make is using a shared
server to keep their files in. It makes sense why shared servers are chosen, they re cheap and very
acceptable, but when you look at the future consequences, it becomes clear that the upfront savings
aren t worth the long term risks. Even if you need to cut costs in other areas to make it happen, it s
critically important that you switch your business over to a dedicated server. When you use a
dedicated server, you no longer must run your websites, programs, and scripts on the same
machine as other companies and individuals. This means you instantly increase your security
and don t have to deal with the risk of being hacked by an outside party within your own server.
Few things are as important as data encryption in today s cyber security field. While it s best to
prevent hackers from gaining access to your systems in the first place, encryption technology
essentially renders your data useless, should it wind up in the wrong hands. Be sure to set up a
regular schedule to update your data encryption so that you re always using the most advanced

(if they did any) and of gathering various types of berries, nuts, tubers, and other plants to eat.
Women s had lots of jobs to do such as, taking down and setting up the family s Wigwam, looking
after the kids, and making all the clothes. Men usually travelled long distances to catch food. These
were the family roles of the Eastern Woodland people.
Homes The Eastern Woodlands didn t live in apartment building or houses like we do now.
Instead, most would live in dome shaped Wigwams . While others would live in Concial
Wigwams similar to the plain tipis . It was always the women s job to set up and take down the
Wigwams . The Wigwams frame would be made of either spruce or birch trees. Then the
Wigwams would be covered in birch bark and layers of the wood for protection against
precipitation and the wind. Inside of the Wigwam was a rock fire pit to keep the family warm.
This is where the Eastern Woodlands lived.

  • 2. Cyber Espionage ABSTRACT The aim of this report is to examine the topic of cyber espionage. Incidents and threats of espionage committed using software tools have become frequent headlines in news stories in recent years, thus the existence of cyber espionage is undeniable. This report begins with an introduction of the topic, followed by a literature review. Moving on, two case studies specifically involving the use of Trojans and sniffers to commit espionage will be discussed. The scope of these case studies includes the attack mechanisms used and the countermeasures that could plausibly be adopted, as well as a discussion of each case. 1.0 INTRODUCTION Cyber espionage is the use of software tools to obtain secret or private information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An attacker can run malicious commands on an infected system to delete important files from the victim system, or format the entire disk. Attackers can also infect systems with a Trojan and use it to attack another pre defined third party system. Some Trojans have inbuilt keylogging capabilities to record keystrokes made by the victim on the infected system. These Trojans can be configured to automatically covertly email the log file containing the recorded keystrokes to a pre defined email address. It is further possible to configure an autodestruct feature in the Trojan, so that it automatically gets destroyed at a pre specified date, and hence leaves few traces behind. Such Trojans are capable of: Stealing the contents of sensitive emails and documents Recording passwords, credit card numbers, account information etc. Stealing software programming code 2.3.2 Sniffers Sniffers are recording softwares that record and store data packets being sent across a network. Typically, sniffers can be used to capture, interpret and store data packets being sent across the network. These captured data packets can be studied and analyzed to understand solve network problems and keep track of network traffic. In espionage, sniffers are used to capture sensitive data being sent across the target network. Common espionage threats associated with sniffers include: Passwords, bank account ... • 3. Cause And Effects Of Tsunami In Japan In March of 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake hit Japan, releasing a dangerous tsunami. Japan was not expecting the magnitude of the earthquake and tsunami, and endured much hardship after the disaster. The effects of the tsunami can still be seen in Japan today through its residents, economy, and through actions that have been taken to further protect residents from future disasters. Though the Japan 2011 tsunamiis one of the most destructive tsunamis ever recorded, dangerous tsunamis continue to take place across the globe. The Japan 2011 tsunami not only affected the inhabitants of Japan, but also affected people around the world. After disasters such as this, each area must endure the aftermath of the disaster and recover from the effects. A tsunami is a series of huge waves occurring when there is a major disturbance on the ocean floor. Tsunamis often occur due to earthquakes, volcanoes, or landslides (Park 16). Underwater earthquakes may produce waves that travel in all different directions. Some tsunamis lose power and die out under water, others may produce large waves as they approach land. Tsunamis may look like an onrushing tidal wave as they approach land, but do not occur because of tides (Park 6). Their walls of water can move across the open ocean at speeds of up to 560 miles per hour. When the waves hit the coast, they can reach up to 100 feet (Park 5). The tsunami in Japan is believed to have occurred after two of Earth s tectonic plates collided in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cultural Ethical Relativism Ethical relativism is a theory based on the belief that there are no general standards that are considered to be ethically acceptable. Ethical relativists believe that there is no actual standard of what is right or wrong. The two forms of ethical relativism are personal, or individual ethical relativism and cultural ethical relativism. Personal relativism, also called individual relativism, is based on the belief that ethical opinions are manifested by the moral viewpoints of each individual. Personal relativists believe that because there is no specific right or wrong, no specific opinion is considered reasonable or unreasonable. Everybody has had their own experiences throughout their lives, which has contributed to how their beliefs are formed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Opinions are based on the beliefs of each individual culture. Individuals in each society should focus on the rules and customs within their society in order to make the right decisions. Cultural ethical relativists believe that one society s views and opinions are not better than any other, even if the views are completely different in opinion. I do not believe that relativism would work as a universal theory. Everybody has their own morals and beliefs. What one individual believes is right may be completely different from what another individual might believe. Relativism may work as a universal theory within certain cultures and societies but not likely among individuals. There are certain cultures that share the same customs and beliefs but individuals from different cultures may have completely different views of what is right or wrong. Supporters of ethical relativism believe that there is no universal beliefs that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His domestic partner is Albert , who appears regularly as Starina, the show s star drag queen. They are a nuclear family. A nuclear family is a household in which a married couple or single parent live with their own or adopted children. This movie is a great example of social groups, leadership, culture, norms, society, nature and nurture, and social lives. This movie represents how the American culture chooses our social class in society. • 6. Ethnic Differences Between Ethnic Cultures Jonah Grier International Business April 14, 2016 Demographically Split Geographically Single: General Israeli Culture Introduction: Dominated by Zionistic beliefs, Israel is slowly opening to new culture changes. Though divided in religion, Israel is ready to take risks to advance peace. Old Israeli culture requires upholding standard traditionalistic values. Traditional values within the Israeli culture tend to enforce solidarity. Globalized customs have brought forward new ideals to their system. Due to the recent societal shifts within Israel, we can analyze Israel s culture using Hofstede s cultural dimensions, and in particular the concept of foreign direct investment. Power Distance: Located on the eastern outskirts of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the most part, positions within a business are equal. All positions have a voice and are allowed to contribute as much as they desire. In high power distance countries, lower level employees have very little interaction with upper management administration. In the eyes of Israeli business owners, keeping the workplace equal allows for diversity and stronger business decisions. Israel maintains a low power distance by keeping jobs within the workplace equal. They also do not restrict executives from collaborating with lower management. This collaboration shows that Israel has a decentralized chain of command and that everyone is a part of the structure in a business. Individuality vs. Collectivism: In terms of individualism vs. collectivism Israel has components of both but leans slightly towards individualism. Individualism vs. Collectivism expresses the degree to which people value autonomy or group work. Multi cultural groups such as Palestinian Arabs, and Jewish Israeli s make up a majority of the population. Jewish Israeli traditions focus more on individualism, while Palestinian Arab ethics display a more collectivist approach. A study done by the University of the Negev, interviewed 1,190 Palestinian and 1,144 Israeli high school students. The study examined whether the student liked group work, or individual work. Results showed that both groups had collectivist ideals, however, Palestinian students had a higher score towards group ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I included some information of earnings management first. Earnings management is managers accounting choices. Managers may use different accounting techniques to create some opportunities within the boundary of GAAP, so that they can make financial statementslook better. I stated the top 5 techniques of earnings management and relevant examples: The big Bath Cookie jar reserves Revenue recognition Immaterial Capitalization practice Secondly, in order to figure out the relationship between fraud and earnings management, I find some definition of fraud. It is an intentional conduct and materially mislead financial statements, which also violate criminal and civil law. Finally, after understanding the definition of fraud and earnings management, I found that earnings management and fraud are similar. They all intent to distort financial statement. If we abuse earnings management, it is easy to fall into fraud. Earnings management is a good point for us to analyze fraud more, but it is still not a fraud because managers manage earnings within the boundaries of GAAP. Introduction The most important role of financial reports is to effectively communicate financial information to outsiders in a timely and credible manner (FASB, 1984). Water, without it nothing can survive. Texas is the second largest state for landmass in the nation and ninth for water square miles. Within the borders of Texas are more than 100 lakes, 14 major rivers, and 23 aquifers, so why has water become such an important issue for the state? Politicians and conservationists all agree that without a new working water plan, the state could be facing one of the most damaging environmental disasters they have ever seen. The issues that shape the states positions are population growth, current drought conditions, and who actually owns the water. Texas the second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A study done by the Pew Hispanic Center in 2010 listed more 1.7 million undocumented residents living in the state of Texas. (Tannahill) The population growth rate, whether by legal or illegal means is only one of the issues that has been troubling state law makers and affecting the state s water plan. The second issue that is affecting Texas water is the drought conditions that the state is currently suffering from. Since 1990 Texas has seen a trend towards warmer and drier summers than usual. Texas which geographically sits in the south central part of the United States with an extensive border with the Gulf of Mexico gets its weather patterns from both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Researchers have shown that warmer than normal temperatures in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans often lead to drier than normal summers. The research also shows that these trends will last for more than 20 to 25 years. Since we have been in this weather pattern since 1990, (Hembreee), hopefully we are nearing the end of the dry cycle. However, Mother Nature is never predictable. Meteorologists are only able to speculate about a week in advanced with any certainty. • 9. The Dangers Of Cell Phone Use While Driving Introduction In the United States, there are many states and cities that have passed laws where individuals should not use hand held phones or text while driving, however, none of these laws actually restricts a person from using a phone while driving. The National Safety Council reported that each year an estimated of 1.6 million car crashes are due to people using their cell phones while driving (Texting and Driving Accident Statistics, 2017). One of the biggest reasons that car accidents occurs is because the driver was not paying attention to the road and the things around them. There are many things that can distract a person while they are driving, such as; using the navigation, eating, drinking, playing with the radio, talking on the phone, and even texting. In a single day, approximately 660,000 drivers habitually use their cell phone while they are driving (Texting and Driving Accident Statistics, 2017). This is why the nonprofit organization known as FocusDriven, has been so devoted and passionate about banning the use of cell phones while driving and fighting to make it be illegal and unacceptable in the eyes of the law. As an advocate, this paper is a policy proposal which includes research studies showing data that supports why cell phone use while driving should be banned and possible solutions to take the necessary steps in order to prevent drivers from becoming distracted and hopefully reducing the number of car crashes and fatalities caused by cell ... • 14. Naturalist Themes In Stephen Crane s A Mystery Of Heroism Naturalism Essay Stephen Crane is a Naturalist. Naturalists believe an individual s life is determined by environment, chance, and heredity. They also believe that free will is an illusion and that people should endure their suffering with quiet dignity. Lastly, Naturalists believe survival of the fittest and natural selection govern people as well as nature, and people resort to the animal during a crisis. Crane uses literary elements to create Naturalist themes in A Mystery of Heroism and An Episode of War. Although both of the stories have Naturalist themes, Crane uses different elements to create them. In Crane s A Mystery of Heroism he uses literary elements to create Naturalist themes. One main belief of Naturalists is that someone s life is determined by environment, chance, and heredity. Crane uses the setting and characters to create this theme. In the story it says, Too, he wondered why he did not feel some keen agony of fear cutting his sense like a knife. This quote shows that the main characteris not afraid. The setting of the war is one of the reasons he does not feel fear. He has probably been in a more fearful situation since he has been in the war. If he had not been a soldier and been in this setting he would be more fearful. Crane uses characters to create this main idea by showing the other characters who argue with Collins until he goes to the well. In A Mystery of Heroism it says, Of course, yeh will! The Evolution of Matriarchy to Patriarchy Patriarchy is defined as a system in which men largely control women and children and also shape ideas about appropriate gender behavior. Throughout history, climate change brought on changes throughout all developing civilizations and societies, most importantly in agriculture. The development of agriculture led to the formation of complex societies, the idea of surplus, population growth, and new technologies. As these effects of agriculture became more prominent in growing societies, women were unable to participate in some of the economic and agricultural activities due to their biological purpose reproduction. All of these societies gave women considerable influence within a matrilineal culture, even if men usually had the decision making power. During these societies, it can be said that the Golden Age of Matriarchy 4 occurred during this period of time where simple farming and hunting and gathering was a major role. All of the societies that engaged in simple farming and hunting and gathering had more powerful and authoritative roles in society because they were not fully focused on reproduction. Instead, these societies wanted to limit their population due to inefficient amounts of resources. As climate change took over in Mesopotamia such as extreme flooding of the Nile River in Egypt and the growing problem of desertification, societies could no longer rely on hunting and gathering. These methods were no longer producing the amount of food needed to support the steadily growing civilizations. Farming techniques were introduced which caused societies to develop new and complex ways for food production such as irrigation, horticulture, and shifting cultivation. Food production and urbanization led to the formation of states: formal political organization. The change from simple farming to complex farming made it harder for women to participate because of reproduction. Where these behaviours come from however, depends on many things. Some things are innate therefore, one can be born with the knowledge. Learning can thereby be defined as a comparatively permanent difference in behaviour and knowledge that comes from experience or training. However, other forms of learning must be acquired actively. It can be defined as a behavioural process whereby a response will become more frequent and more predictable in any given environment at any period of time as a result of reinforcement, while the reinforcement is usually a stimulus that is a compensation for an aspired response. A form of mental and physical behaviour that relates to learning is addiction. Who is the beast?; what is the conch?; and why is it important to keep the fire? There is a beast in The Lord of the Flies. The beast is a figure of speech. It represents the evil in all of us. The beast also stands for the devil in The Bible. Simon realizes this after Jacks becomes obsessed with hunting and after he leaves to make his own tribe. All of the boys on the island start to turn on each other; two of the boys are killed. Jack keeps referencing to a beast on the island every time he hunts or kills a pig. There isnt a real, physical beast. The actual beast is Jack himself. He shows no mercy to what he hunts, like when he and his tribe repeatedly stab the sow and Simon. The beast is an... The owner of Rayo Santos, Juan Carlos Olvera, gave me instructions on what were some of the boundaries of the design, like using the colors of the Mexican flag and using the name itself as the logo. Rayo Santos meaning Holy Thunder in Spanish. Through the process of researching for inspiration and sketching, I finally found the perfect solution by using a Halo and a Thunderbolt for the logo. I believe that going for a simple and modern design was the correct way to achieve this design. After being introduced to Elda Chavez, owner of Sky Event Center, I knew I wanted to take the challenge and the adventure of redesigning their brand look. Sky Event Center is a place where the enjoyment of different celebrations takes place. The previous logo had a good color scheme but in my personal opinion, it seemed like it was made for a car wash and it did not appear to be made for a ballroom, and surely did not reflect the beauty and elegance of the interior. I developed a new logo that took out the beauty and gave it the sophisticated look it needed by using a self made typeface that fits the business more accordingly. The mark itself is an abstract representation of a flower and a disco ball with a combination of a cool color scheme, to remind the people of the blues and purples of the evening sky. Mansa Musa, an ancient ruler of the kingdom Mali in Western Africa, ruled from 1312 1337 BCE. While Mali was under his rule, Mansa Musa, expanded gold salt trade, built a large standing army, as well as took part in one of the 5 Pillars of Faith, a holy pilgrimage known as the hajj. Although the hajj is a religious event, Musa used it as a tool to do much more than show his devotion to Allah. Through his need to prove his importance, going out of his way, and creating impressions, Mansa Musa s main intention while going on his hajj was to spread his fame. Because of his need to prove his importance and power, Mansa Musa s primary reason for going on his hajj was to spread word of his name. An excerpt from Al Umari s Masalik al Absar reads, He had begun to use this argument but I realized that meeting [the sultan] was repugnant to him because he would be obliged to kiss the ground and sultan s hand (Doc E). • 36. The Four Major Approaches Of Sociocultural Evolution Society refers to people who interact in a defined territory and share culture (Macionis,2012,p.108). They are four major approaches that display ways in which societies have changed over the past 10,000 years. The first approach was made by Gerhard Lenski who talked about society in relation to changes concerning technology. Lenski uses the term sociocultural evolution to describe such changes. Sociocultural evolution is changes that occur as a society gains very new technology (Macionis,2012,p.88). In the earliest years, societies lived by hunting and gathering. People made tools to hunt and gather food. Such societies were very petite so it was easy for them to migrate whenever food was limited. Hunters and gathers spend most of their time hunting and collecting food for them to satisfy their hunger. They depend on each other to get their duties done. Women were responsible for vegetation and men went out to hunt. The young children and elderly help out whenever they could. In most hunting and gathering societies there is a leader who basically takes control but still has to go out and hunt for food. The basic weapons used by such societies were spears, bow and arrows and stone knives. These communities were not really prone to much danger the thing they feared the most was droughts and storms. Gathering and hunting societies began to decrease as societies became more developed. Along the way, societies developed horticulture, which is the use of hand tools to ... Ideational or well known as experiential meaning which has a representational function is used to encode any idea or experience of the world; it conveys a picture of reality. Interpersonal function means we use it to encode interaction to see the social relationships. Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse Yujia Xie I.Introduction Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of the most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in 2001, Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool for developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.). One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building classes. For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was designed specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that would later benefit the performance of Eclipse. In The Descent of Inanna, Inanna needs help from Ninshubur and Father Enki to rescue her from the Great Below. Inanna is as needful but some aspect of need is still circulating her body. Inanna also retains her aspect of loving. When she is looking for a replacement for her in hell, she does not allow Ninshubur and her sons to take her place because she has too much emotion towards them. Inanna has not been devoured by her powerful new powers and still retains some aspects of young Inanna. The myth can tell us a lot about the process of growing up and becoming independent. Endothermic Change Lab Report Task 1 Hypothesis By increasing the mass of substance using 20ml of water starting at room temperature there will be 10oc change, either an exothermic change or an endothermic change. Aim The aim of this investigation experiment is to find out what mass of substance is required for an exothermic or endothermic substance to achieve a 10oc temperature change. Set objectives 7 masses of each substance should be used in this experiment: 0g, 0.25g, 0.50g, 0.75g, 1.00g, 1.25g, 1.50g, 1.75g, and 2.00g. Measure the start and end temperature for each substance using a thermometer. Measure the volume of water (cm3). Thermometer should be placed in the water and measure the start temperature of the water. Accurately measure the thermometer readings using the meniscus at eye level for the most accurate results. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aim of this investigation is to how much mass is needed to require a 10oc temperature change in order to get an exothermic or an endothermic reaction. For this practical investigation I will choose to approach it using the thermometer to collect my data. Step by step instructions 1.)Collect all equipment needed for the practical, Thermometer, boiling tube, 2 substances, distilled water, measuring cylinder, weighing boat to measure substance, Test tube holders, goggles, lab coat, spatula, balance scales. 2.)From the equipment you have collected set up the equipment. Measure 20ml of water in the measuring cylinder and transfer the 20ml of water in the boiling tube. After that measure the start temperature of the water using a thermometer and read the meniscus at eye level accurately. 3.)Measure the mass of the first substance (0.25g) on the balance scale accurately. Once measured add the substance into the boiling tube containing 20ml of water and make sure the thermometer is still in the boiling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Lovesong Of T. S Eliot And Not Waving But Drowning By... The turn of the 20th Century marks a substantial evolution for the pursuit of English Literature responding to the larger socio political developments berthed by the rapid onset of industrialization. The Modern Tradition of English literature, as literary critics refer to the period today, transforms our understanding of english literary mechanics in that both poets and authors examined the repercussions of industrial society on urbanites and rural peoples alike through experimental prose and verse styles, forever changing the English Language. In particular, the poetry of T.S Eliot in his breakout poem, The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock written in 1915, and Not Waving but Drowning written by poetess Steve Smith in 1953, reflect a particular sentiment spanning an entire generation of both poetic and public society in which the burdens of modern living within a capitalist society complicate man and women s ability to express their individuality, much less understand their place among the vastness of the cosmos. By reading Steve Smith s Not Waving but Drowning as it relates to themes such as misunderstanding helplessness in the face of doom which T.S Eliot employs in, The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock , one finds that Smith s drowning man compounds our understanding of Prufrock s suffering; two individuals who fail to discover themselves, nor any meaningful purpose and life; and offers an response to despair through the voice of the drowned man s friends that ... • 54. The Humanistic Approach To Psychology Humanism, also known as the phenomenological approach, is a contemporary approach to psychology that focuses on the whole person . It stresses the idea that a person is an individual and is unique. Humanists look at behavior through the eyes of the person, not as an observer. Everyone needs to be treated differently based on their unique personality. They believe that a person s behavior is determined by their perception of the world around them, not their environment or genetics. Humanism begins with the belief that people have free will, or personal agency as it s called in humanism, and that all people are inherently good. It is believed that everyone wants to make themselves and the world a better place. They have a natural born drive to fulfill their maximum potential. Humanism emphasizes personal worth and basic human values. Humanists are not concerned about instinctual drive, external forces, or past experiences. Instead humanists use the ideas of love, fulfillment, self worth, and independence to help people as they are the basic human wants. Humanism rose to prominence in the mid 20th century. American psychologists Abraham Maslow and Clark Moustakas met with other psychologists in 1957 and 1958 to discuss developing an organization devoted to a different approach to mainstream psychology. They wanted self actualization, creativity, health and individuality to be the major focuses of the approach. In 1961, with assistance from Brandeis University, the ... Customer Information Whenever a customer gives you personal or classified information to complete an application, transaction, or another request, you owe them protection and privacy. If data you have in your possession is leaked whether on purpose or carelessly, you could be held accountable. One of the distinguished biggest mistakes small businesses make is using a shared server to keep their files in. It makes sense why shared servers are chosen, they re cheap and very acceptable, but when you look at the future consequences, it becomes clear that the upfront savings aren t worth the long term risks. Even if you need to cut costs in other areas to make it happen, it s critically important that you switch your business over to a dedicated server. When you use a dedicated server, you no longer must run your websites, programs, and scripts on the same machine as other companies and individuals. This means you instantly increase your security and don t have to deal with the risk of being hacked by an outside party within your own server. Few things are as important as data encryption in today s cyber security field. While it s best to prevent hackers from gaining access to your systems in the first place, encryption technology essentially renders your data useless, should it wind up in the wrong hands. Be sure to set up a regular schedule to update your data encryption so that you re always using the most advanced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
