This case was a case for the ages that challenged the very decision of our newly
elected president. The former President Adam after a grueling election has lost and in
order to maintain the legacy of the Federalist, he began to appoint justices to the
Supreme Court. These judges were appointed by the president and confirmed by the
Senate, but unfortunately for these justices, the letters that confirmed the
appointment never reached the potential justices. Adams was working quickly to
push the appointments through, but unfortunately he ran out of time and Jefferson
took office. Jefferson saw the appointment letters on his desk and discarded them.
One of the potential justices was William Marbury and he sued the president for his
Supreme Court appointment. His goal was to have the court to order a writ of
mandamus, which if completed, would order a government official to fulfil their
official duties. The Chief justice presented three questions that needed to be decided
by the court. The first issue addressed was whether William Marbury deserved the
commission or not. The court opened the questioned if the law had a remedy for the
situation. The final question was whether the writ of mandamus the appropriate legal
action in the case. These questions were debated and the court confirmed that
Marbury deserved the commission, but they found that the Judiciary Act of 1789
which allowed the court to submit the very writ of mandamus Marbury needed was

The Enigma of Capital and the Crisis of Capitalism is a forum for author David
Harvey to voice his concerns on the contemporary global capitalist model. As a
Marxist geographer and anthropologist, Harvey analyzes modern capitalism
through a lens of skepticism that results in a scathing renunciation of the capitalist
goals of perpetual accumulation and creative destruction. Harvey argues that in a
world constrained by scarce resources and burgeoning social barriers, the capitalist
process produces a strange dynamic that oscillates between periods of crisis and

vast majority of the population will wallow in the doldrums, enslaved by the

That was only a decade that the USA kept their word. When gold was discovered in
the Black Hills in 1874, instead of protecting the Lakota territories from white
intruders like they had promised in 1868, the government worked to help the

The relationship between a parent and a child is very important. It is critical to the
health and well being of the child and the overall happiness of the family. Most
parent and child relationships follow the same prototype of the parent caring for the
child. This continues until they are able to take care of themselves and even after it
ends, love and support is still shown from the parent. However, the parent and child
relationships in OedipusRex and the Importance of Being Earnest differ from this
common theme. The relationships seen in these plays are complicated and
oppressive. From the surface, Lady Bracknell and Gwendolen seem to have a
typical mother daughter relationship. But as the play progresses we see that this is
not at all the case. Lady Bracknell is a narrow minded and authoritarian type mother.
Because of this she is very protective when it comes to her daughter. She believes
that since she married well, her daughter deserves the same. Her idea of marriage
includes the attainment of social security and property. In her mind it has nothing
to do with love or passion. Gwendolen, however, wants to make her own decisions
and live her life as she pleases, not having to worry about whether or not her
mother will approve. She is intellectual sophisticated, and cosmopolitan. The
overprotectiveness from her mother is first seen when list of eligible men are
mentioned. This list is composed by Lady Bracknell herself and includes the names
of all the men who she believes are good and worthy enough to be with her daughter.
With this list is a set of interview questions about a variety of topics ranging from his
smoking habits to his familyorigins. This is her way of manipulating the situation
and getting it to turn out the way that she wants it to. Lady Bracknell was born into
the lower class but was a social climber who was determined on marrying into the
aristocracy, which is exactly what she did. She wants her daughter to be able to do
the same. She even goes as far as to tell Gwendolen that she is not engaged until her
mother or father informs her that she is. Even after all this pressure and control
coming from her mother Gwendolen decides to rebel. Gwendolen is sure she wants
to marry the man
