Essays On Nutrition
Writing an essay on the topic of nutrition can present both challenges and opportunities for
exploration. On one hand, the subject matter is broad and multidimensional, encompassing
various aspects such as dietary habits, nutritional science, health implications, and cultural
influences. This breadth allows for a rich and diverse exploration of ideas, but it also requires
careful consideration to avoid being too broad or too narrow in focus.
One of the difficulties in crafting an essay on nutrition lies in striking the right balance between
scientific information and accessibility. While it's important to incorporate evidence-based
research and nutritional principles, the essay should also be approachable for a general audience.
Balancing the technical aspects of nutrition with a clear and engaging writing style can be a
challenging task.
Additionally, staying current with the latest research findings and nutritional guidelines is
essential. The field of nutrition is dynamic, with new studies and recommendations constantly
emerging. Ensuring that the essay reflects the most up-to-date information requires diligence and
a commitment to staying informed.
Another challenge is the need to navigate through conflicting information and varying
perspectives within the field of nutrition. Different dietary philosophies and nutritional
ideologies can sometimes present contradictory advice, making it essential for the writer to
critically evaluate sources and present a well-rounded perspective.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on nutrition can be challenging due to the broad and
dynamic nature of the topic, it also offers an opportunity for in-depth exploration and the
synthesis of diverse perspectives. Finding the right balance between scientific rigor and
accessibility, staying current with research, and navigating conflicting information are all integral
parts of successfully tackling this subject.

Deprivation In The Galapagos Islands
From causing erosion to threatening the survival of endemic flora and fauna, the
effects of this invasion were deeply felt in the Galapagos Islands, a volcanic
archipelago of nineteen islands situated in the Pacific Ocean, about one thousand
kilometers from the Ecuadorian coast. After they were first introduced in the
archipelago, the conditions of the ecosystem unfortunately yielded a massive increase
in reproduction rates for goats―up to 10 35% per year. Specifically, due to two
factors: the lack of the main predators―such as coyotes, dogs, mountain lions,
foxes, eagles, and bobcats―of domestic goats, and the presence of large areas of
grasslands and abundant vegetation on the islands. It was not until the late 1980s that

Networking Sites are increasingly popular nowadays. Many SNSdevelopers like
Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and others are competing to give the best features in
terms of socialization, interaction, privacy and even entertainment. It is not surprising

It is evident that many students greatly rely on these sites in order to interact with
their friends and other people whether they know them or not. Being dependent to
these sites promotes online friendships which are not good since they might
encounter people that are suspicious in behavior. These sites hinder face to face
friendship but many students reason out that they use SNS in order to communicate
conveniently with their faraway friends. What do these SNS possess to make the
students keep on using them? Why do students upload photos, videos, post comments
/messages on other profiles and play social games? What are the benefits and
purpose of doing these activities? Why are social networking sites frequently used by
students nowadays? The researcher goal is to address these questions and have an in
depth study with regards to those questions stated above. Students usage of social
networking sites provides long lasting insights to identity construction, social
behavior and peer to peer interaction therefore studies such as this arises that found
out the real perspective of students about social life. B.Conceptual Framework In
general, online relationships contain much weaker ties than face to face relationships
(Vitak, 2008). Social networking sites such as Facebook offer users a convenient
method for maintaining a large number of weak ties. While maintenance of strong
ties typically requires significant commitments of time and energy, weak ties maybe

The colour of the logo creates brand loyalty makes it recognisable. This is because the
colour of it is shown throughout the ident and promotes the channel and its theme
and the logo is shown various times throughout in different variations, but even when
the logo is made of popcorn in conjunction with the summer theme, there is still the
presence of the colour purple in the background, meaning the ident it doesn t lose

Although the content of the ident may seem randomly placed they are not. Each of

Walt Disney
Executive Summary Tokyo Disneyland was opened to the public on April 15, 1983.
This amusement park was owned and operated by an unrelated Japanese corporation.
The Walt Disney Company received royalties, paid in Yen, on certain revenues
generated by Tokyo Disneyland. This new overseas business venture was bringing
some concern about the foreign exchange risk to Disney. The management team at
the Disney has been considering hedging future Yen inflows from Disney Tokyo
since 1985. Mr. Anderson, the director of finance at The Walt Disney
Company,
focused his attention on a possible 15 billion ten year term loan with an interestrate of
7.5% paid semiannually. On the other hand, Goldman Sachs, who had been working

Net income totaled $97.8 million in 1984, an increase of 5% from 1983.when
looking at the Consolidated Balance Sheet (Exhibit2), we found that the total assets
grew 15% to $2.7 billion at the end of fiscal 1984 due to addition of real estate
inventories as part of the acquisition of another company. The ratio of debt to total
capitalization jumped to 43% at 1984 from 20% at previous year. With the first
opening of Tokyo Disneyland operated by an independent Japanese company and the
inflow of Yen royalty receipts, the foreign exchange rate risk began to emerge. As
the Yen depreciated, the revenues from the royalties were shrinking from 1980 to
1985. Therefore, the weak Yen had a negative influence on Disney s total net
income. We also know the goal of the firm s management is to make the firm as
valuable as possible, and then the firm should pick the debt equity ratio that makes
the pie as big as possible. Usually, the total value of the firm equals the sum of the
total debt and total equity. (V=D+E). As shown in the right chart, we can clearly
get a conclusion that an increase in total value of debt will increase the total value
of Disney from 1983 to 1984. We can maximize Disney s value by creating more
value of the debt. If we expose the Yen debt to the risk of the fluctuation in Yen
dollar exchange rates, it would also have great impact on the total value of our debt

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The

English Language Learners There are many English Language Learners who may
be at a higher disadvantage because they are learning English as a second language.
Being introduced to any language is a challenging task for all small children;
consequently, students who cannot communicate with any school staff members are
often left behind. Due to the variety of languages in a school setting it would be
difficult to have a dual immersion program set in place. However, in Kern County,
there are many small towns whose population is primarily Spanish speaking. These
town s students are faced with many difficulties as they try to adjust and transition to
English because a lot of their parents do not speak English themselves. Schools with a
high population of Spanish speaking students should offer a dual immersion program
because it will provide their students the necessary tools to become proficient English
languagelearners.
Difficulties
Many times, school faculty may feel that incorporating a dual immersion program
may be confusing for students. They feel that their primary goal should be to learn
English and there should be no distractions. In the past, due to these conflicting ideas,
Most schools did away their long term bilingual programs, even though, prop 227
didn t actually outlaw learning in a foreign language (Mongeau, 2016). Students
would benefit from learning two languages because they may need to follow
instruction in their first language to understand the
Essay On Density Determination Lab
Hypothesis
The objective of the density determination lab is to determine/compare the average
density of pre 1982 and post 1982 pennies. This can be achieved by finding the
mass to volume ratio then averaging the results. The purpose of this lab is to find
out if the difference in composition of the pre and post pennies will affect their
densities. Pennies made before 1982 where majority copper but pennies minted after
1982 are made with mostly zinc. With this background knowledge, we expect the
outcome to be that the density of the pre pennies will be greater than the post
pennies. This experiment will help us to determine if the pre pennies will have a
higher density by finding the volumes and mass s then comparing the results. ... Show

The starting volume of water was 25 ml. To find the volume of the pennies by itself,
the volume of water/pennies together needs to be subtracted from the volume of
the water. To find the density the equation D=M/V must be used. The mass of five

Bed Room Gap Analysis
In 2010, the medical critical care unit at the York Street campus of Yale New Haven
expanded into two 28 bed units housed on two floors, each encompassing 33,000
square feet. The increase in geography posed new challenges for clinical staff with
regard to alarm management. Crisis monitor alarms were programmed to populate
the bedside physiologic monitoring screens in zoned clinical areas. This allowed
clinicians to view the alarmcondition and respond appropriately to area alarms.
The units established an alarm management team in 2013 with the goal to meet the
requirements of NPSG.06.01.01. The team consisted of representatives from clinical
engineering, the Yale School of Nursing, information technology, nursing
management, performance improvement, physician leadership, and bedside clinical
staff. The team began by using the gap analysis assessment tool provided by AACN.3

Ten staff nurses shared their ideas about improving alarm management. Pulmonary
critical care physicians verbalized that alarm noise detracted from the team s ability
to interact with the patient and family at the bedside during rounds. Clinical staff
members were engaged in the project using shift change huddles, patient safety and
quality briefings, pulmonary critical care provider and alarm management meetings.
The performance improvement team addressed staff feedback regarding noise
levels. Decibel meters were placed in a central location in the intensive care unit to
obtain measurements of noise from all sources. The team identified audible alarms
from bedside physiologic monitors as the largest contributor to the noise levels in the
units. Overall, noise levels in the units averaged 68.4 dB. [AU: Reorganized

The data was collected through questions answered in an interview and later
assessed. The primary purpose of this study was to assess concerns of cancer
survivors. The third study (Bal et al,. 2012) provides evidence from a descriptive,
qualitative study in the attempt to better understand the four topics of sexual
health, body image, femininity, fertility, and sex among gynecological cancer
survivors. The answers to the survey questions and expressions presented by the
participants were transcribed to data points and analyzed. This descriptive study s
level of evidence, Level VI, describes the population of gynecological cancer
survivors and their perception of their sexual health. The fourth study (Kim et al.,

Saving becomes more attractive: firms and households are more likely to keep saving
money in the bank rather than spend.
Reduced disposable income: households with a variable mortgage will see a rise in
monthly mortgage interest payments. Therefore, they will have less income to spend.
Overall, the money supply decreased. The decline in money supply causes an
imbalance in the money market. At a given interest rate (i1) and the income (Y1)
there is the excess demand for real money balances over supply. LM curve shifts to
the left. Growth in interest rates causes a decrease of autonomous expenditures
sensitive to interest rates. These autonomous expenditures sensitive to interest rate
are investment and consumption. Equilibrium output of the economy falls to the
level Y2 as described in the graph below.
On open market operations, interest rate rose from 7% to 12% per annual to restrict
the supply of money to the economy. An increase in the interest rate reduces
investment by making it more expensive for firms to borrow money to make
investment purchases and also by increasing the opportunity cost for those who plan
to finance investment projects using their own funds.
The rises in interest rates cause difficult for businesses, especially small and medium
sized ones to access capital, forcing them to
Comparison Between Hamlet And Frankenstein
Have you ever felt responsible for something that has happened to your family? Like
you had a chance to do something about it but you chose not to? This is a common
thought as many people tend to blame themselves for something that they no hand in
creating, without reason. This is not the case in both William Shakespeare s Hamlet
and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. In both of these pieces of literature the protagonists
rightfully blame themselves for what happens to some of their familymembers as they
either created what caused harm to their families or they did the harming themselves,
albeit unintentionally. Hamlet is charged with the family duty of avenging his father,
while Dr. Frankensteinshould fulfil his obligation to foster his creation. Neither are
able to fully execute their duties and their irresponsible nature causes their own
downfall and the ultimate collapse of their family. The collapse of the protagonists
and their families is brought on by mental anguish, a lack of comfort/love, and tragic
death. Therefore, a son must obey the orders of a father and a father must provide
guidance for his progeny to maintain the family unit. First, the collapse of the
protagonists and their families is brought on by the mental anguish that both
protagonists go through throughout their respective stories. This mental anguish is
brought upon them through their guilt, their carrying a heavy burden, and their
regretting a lot of what they have done. Hamlet feels guilt because

Using this phenomenon, various types of media can promote change. Media does
this by informing the general populace about a given dilemma, and by doing so
their intent is people will realize the issue and attempt to rectify it. For example,
the film Super Size Me, directed by Morgan Spurlock, discusses the issues with
fast food chains, especially McDonalds. In the film, Spurlock eats McDonalds food
every meal for an entire month to showcase the drastic ramifications fast food has
on our physical health. Spurlock gained approximately 24 pounds and endured a

a healthier option compared to the normal food. Based on the events of the film, it
is clear to see how a single piece of media can promote change within a
Underlying Problems of the Kyoto Protocol
For the past years, global warming and climate change became important issues of
science and the environment. However, with the realization of the possible threats it
poses to humankind in general, global warming gained international significance.
Climate change is a global problem that requires a global response embracing the
needs and interests of all countries (Boer, 2008). Countries around the world,
convinced by the threats of the global warming, choose to act hand in hand to face to
the issue. United Nations, the pioneering organization that resolves international
conflicts, organized the United Nations Conference on Environment and
Development (UNCED) in July 1992. The conference, organized a series of talks to
create a treaty whose goal is to stabilize greenhouse gasconcentrations in the
atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with
the climate system . It resulted in the creation of the United Nations Framework on
Climate Change Commission (UNFCCC), the first step of the international
community in mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emission. The Convention enjoys
near universal membership, participated by 195 states. By considering global
warming as a multilateral issue that knows no territorial boundaries, the treaty asks
the cooperation of the participating states in combating the issue. The framework,
although a very significant step in mitigating global warming, failed to accomplish its
targets because of its inadequate
Research Paper On Ignorance
Do We Prefer to Ignore?
Ignorance, the root and stem of every evil said Plato, a very famous philosopher (
Plato Quotes ). And whenever the word ignorance pops up, people are more tend to
think negatively. The Oxford Living Dictionary defines it as the lack of knowledge (
Ignorance ) and its synonyms are, according to Thesaurus.com, words such as
illiteracy and insensitivity ( Ignorance ), which present a negative meaning even
with the prefixes il and in . However, is it possible that today ignorant people are

We all value different things: Some value religion, some believe that everything that
has happened is mathematical, and this results in a variety of answers when
someone is asked, Which type of knowledge would you prioritize? . Thus, when
asked How would you say whether a person is ignorant or not? , their answers also
vary. As I asked this question in my interviews, Jason Leiter said that he would
value, Awareness of political events, diversity of the world (Leiter), whereas Cansu
Ећenocak, a Turkish Math teacher, suggested that she would value How many
areas is that person knowledgeable about (Senocak). As another example, in
popular religious beliefs, ignorant people are the ones that do not accept God s
guidance. It isn t about whether you know many languages, learned many sciences
and read many books; ignorance has a direct connection with God. In Islam, for
example, the name Jahiliyyah was used to describe the pre Islamic period in Saudi
Arabia, and the word can be literally translated as Age of Ignorance as jahili means
ignorant (Jahiliyyah). And Vedas, which are the religious texts of Hinduism,
suggests, 10 O God Almighty! I am steeped into the darkness of ignorance. I need to
be moved into the light of your wisdom (The Vedas), which means that not being
ignorant is believing in God and creates a direct relationship between
The Ethical Decision Making Models
Ethical Decision Making Models Decision making in the field of psychology refers to
a cognitive process that results in a selection among multiple possible solutions in a
situation (Colman, 2008). Decision making is based on available information from
the environment as well as intrinsic information and existing schemas (Rogerson,
Gottlieb, Handelsman, Knapp Younggren, 2011). These internal schemas, along with
knowledge and personal preferences, influence the decision making process. Ethical
decision making differs from normal decision making in that ethical standards
influence the decision maker s choice (Rogerson et al., 2011). Numerous professions
and organization adhere to some form of ethical standards including business,... Show

In level 3, the counselor makes decisions that society and laws would approve of
(societal). Level 4 (individual) refers to the counselors decisions that are based on
the needs of the client while at the same time adhering to laws and right and others.
Level 5 refers to the counselor s ability to make decisions based on self chosen
principles of conscience and internal ethical schemas (principles). Levels 1 and 2
are considered to be low while levels 4 and 5 are considered to have high levels of
moral developments. Models of moral development have been integrated into the first
models of ethical decision making (Cottone Claus, 2000). There are several ethical
decision making models including Kritchner s model, social constructivism, and
organizational based models that take into consideration organizational factors and
moral intensity. One of the first models for ethical decision making was developed in
1984 by Kritchener according to Cottone and Claus (2000). Kitchener argued that in
an absence of ethical standards an individual uses personal value judgment which
lead to subpar decisions. Kitchener based her model from previous model of moral
development and recommended that counselors should strive to develop a deeper
understanding of the implications of behaving ethically. Most decision making
models are linear and are based on rational thought (Cottone Claus,

Essay about Consumer Appeal
Consumer Appeal
Advertisers of today have strategically combined commercials and television shows in
order to sell products. Gloria Steinem discusses a similar idea in her article, quot;Sex,
Lies, and Advertising. quot; She repeatedly demonstrates how advertisements,
particularly in magazines, are complementary to the articles around them. In the same
manner, so are commercials to television programs.
They are both aimed at the same groups or types of people, such as sex, age, gender,
etc.

This leaves a majority of the older crowds watching the program.
According to Gloria Steinem, the target of the television show will be the same as
that of the commercials. This proved to be true with quot;Profiler quot; and its
commercials. There were a total of twenty commercials aired. They included and
Allstate Insurance ad, a number of car dealers and promotions, chewing gum, beauty
products, medicine, food, and television satellites. Most of them had female voice
overs with predominantly white actors and/or actresses. The actors and/or actresses
were also good looking, thin, and of high to medium status.
In Steinem s terms, and as mentioned by Cayo Gamber, an advertisement is
generally linked to the article, or in this case, the program. The show is seen as a
quot;complementary copy quot; for the commercials; because it included certain
accessories to a person in the same life style as the characters in the program.
The cars advertisements, in particular, were at times found in the show.
However, the other products weren t really enforced by the program. Above all, the
program did help maintain the intended target interested and tuned in to that specific
channel.

Analysis Of The Movie Slumdog
peaceful as Boyle portrays in his movie, but more fearful and terrifying like Boo
described in Behind the Beautiful Forevers.
Slumdog Millionaire shows Jamal s slumdog childhood as an exciting adventure,
carefree, always finding ways to acquire food or money, and narrowly escaping
punishment for his deviant acts every time; however, the reality of childhood in the
slum is better illustrated in Boo s book since it expose the danger of problems such
as hunger, illness and childhood deviance. Behind the Beautiful Forevers describes
numerous children s tragic death due to the pressures of their hardship and social
injustice. Sometimes leading them to unjust death on the road without clear
cause. For example, Sanjay, a young boy in the slum was pressured to end his life
after he thought that he was going to be captured and tortured by police or killed
by gangsters for being a witness to a crime. Boo described, [Sanjay] was convulsing
on the floor. Pulling Sanjay up, thinking that he was having a seizure, his mother
caught a chemical reek on his breath. His sister retrieved a white plastic bottle from
the corner of the room...But the empty plastic bottle was rat poison...He lived for
two hours after reaching the public hospital (Boo 171 72). The tragic death of Sanjay
shows the immense pressure of living in the slum which can lead to a young boy
taking his life away without second thoughts. On the other hand, Slumdog Millionaire
shows Jamal stealing and scamming with his
Aspects Of The Arthurian Romance In Sir Gawain And
The...
Romantic works of the Arthurian age have existed over a number of eons tracing
back to quite a number of languages native to the writers that immortalized the tales,
this including Welsh, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and
Scandinavian. Medieval romance is defined by the ideals that stood out from the
tales including the romance, honor, loyalty and the moral authority as well as it
explicated the social order which left a lot to be desired of the position of feminism
in the society. Marie de France perhaps the only female write of her time has quite a
number of Arthurian tales to her name up to including Equitan, Le Fresne, Bisclavret,

Love, she said, I admonish you now, I command and beg you, do not let any man

garnered a subliminal wand of control over their men.
The romantic tales also apparently make it is oblivious of what the medieval
concept of what the feminine figure represented and the role they played in the
society. In the medieval literature, the role played by female often is a
representation of many familiar traits and characteristics which the society still
preserves. The issue of beauty, grace, attractiveness, loyalty and honesty almost
completely exemplify the powerful attributes of women in both present and in the
past. In medieval literature it separates the traits of women into distinct roles of
women in the society. Women are seen to be the greatest gift to mankind revealing
every thing that is good, beautiful and pure in the life. They are portrayed to share
earnest love and pure honesty. Here Marie de France depicts her characters so. In
Lanval and Cheverefoil the female characters are true to what their convictions,
eliciting the deep feelings like love and loyalty regardless of the insinuated
repercussions.
Women were seen as possessions of their men and were thus required to show
loyalty. This is what the writers sought to capture whether compelled or not the
female characters espoused loyalty. In Marie de France
Character Of Baby Kochamma
Navomi Ipe, otherwise known as Baby Kochamma, is an antagonist in the novel.
Growing up in a traditional family, she developed a strong belief that their
practices, the caste and marriage, are correct and are meant to be followed, strictly.
A materialistic and selfish person but a smart one. Shaped by tradition, Baby

When I read the book, I thought that he could be a father like figure for Rahel and

In the first 30 40 pages of the novel, he was spouting words with deep meaning,

The Postcolonial Of Amitav Ghosh s Novels Let Us Begin
To understand the postcolonial readings of Amitav Ghosh s novels let us begin by
understanding what postcolonial literature is. In this chapter, I will try to understand
what the postcolonial literature does by theorizing the entire process of
imperialization or colonization. In the following chapters I will try to understand the
postcolonial perspective in Amitav Ghosh s fictional works.
As Peter Barry observes in his Beginning Theory, postcolonial criticism emerged as a
distinct category only in the 1990s. It has gained prominence through the influential
books like In Other Worlds (Gayatri Spivak, 1987), the Empire Writes Back (Bill
Ashcroft, 1989), Nation and Narration (Homi Bhabha, 1990) and Culture and
Imperialism (Edward Said, 1993). A recurring feature of postcolonial writing is the
attempt to identify the differential cultural identity. As oppositional discourse,
postcolonial literature seeks to undermine the European discursive tradition that has
promoted the entire process of imperialization. The postcolonial theory challenges
system of conceptualizations and representation that justify and help maintain
imperialist power during and after the age of colonization. As a means to achieve this
end, the postcolonial theory seeks to establish a differential identity in an impulse to
decolonize the mind. It challenges and resists the Western cultural hegemony. Over
the last few decades postcolonial theory has evolved through different stages to
encompass a variety of
The Impact Of Ford And The Firestone Crisis
Ford and the Firestone crisis was a long standing controversy between the car
manufacturer and the tyre company based on the failures of Ford Explorer
vehicles with Firestone tyres. In the year 2001, the controversy broke out as there
were plenty of incidents happened as more than 220 people have been killed with
road accidents all over America involving Ford Explorer vehicles. There was a bit
of rivalry between Ford and General Motors and with this controversy it had
damaged the reputation of Ford which resulted in the loss of its market share and its
loyalty among customers. Both the companies were facing millions of dollars of
lawsuits from various costumers. This controversy brought an end to the 100 year
old supplier relationship which began in 1896 between Ford and Firestone (The

problems to the vehicles. There were plenty of blame games going on during the
controversy, as Bridgestone, the Parent company of Firestone had argued that the
problem lies within the Ford Explorer standard and safety features rather than the
fault in their Tyres. Firestone during that time is worried about the fact that other
vehicle companies would cancel their orders with firestone because of this
controversy. During the committee hearing, there were evidences which showed that
Ford have been replacing firestone tyres with tyres of Low quality (The Economist,
2017). In the end, Firestone, had agreed to pay Ford a compensation of 240 Million

Willy Loman as Coward in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Everybody feels the penetrating presence of fear throughout life. However, people
s reactions to this fear separate the brave souls from the cowards. Mark Twain once
said, Courage is resistance to fear; mastery of fear, not absence of fear (Twain 6). In
Arthur Miller s play Death of a Salesman, Willy Loman fears rejection by his son, Biff
, and the business world. His fears master him, creating in him a fantasy world of life
as it was eighteen years ago. Willy s avoidance of reality and his suicide show his
cowardice. However, the emphasis he puts on financial success prevents him from
realizing the consequences that his suicide would create.

Willy believes that his family will appreciate the twenty thousand dollars insurance
money they will receive as a result of his death. However, his motives involve more
than helping with finances. Willy thinks his funeral will prove his greatness to
Biff. In a daydream, Willy tells his brother, Ben, That funeral will be massive! . . .
He ll see what I am, Ben! He s in for a shock, that boy! (Miller 1275). Willy
disregards the fact that establishing a relationship with Biff will affect him more
than money. His cowardice causes him to believe that suicide is the only way to gain
his son s respect.
Throughout the play, Willy s ideas of happiness prevent him from realizing that his
acts are cowardly. To him, financial success embodies happiness. His comparisons
of himself to others show his idealizations. Mainly, he idolizes Ben, who walked
into Africa at age seventeen and walked out four years later as a wealthy man.
Willy also compares himself to Dave Singleman, a salesman he met on the road
early in his career. Dave prospered as a salesman even at age eighty four. Willy asks
his boss, Howard, What could be more satisfying than to be able to go, at the age
of eighty four, into twenty or thirty different cities, and pick up a phone, and be
remembered and loved and helped by so many different people? (Miller 1251). Due
to his belief that money creates happiness, Willy feels that money will mend the

Key West is many people s paradise. It has dazzling waters, beautiful beaches, and a

the only true tropical island in the United States. Thousands of people from all over
the world come to Key West every year for the relaxing lifestyle and rich culture. As
well as being rich in culture it is rich in history too. Key West has also been the

Then after the war, the industries success decreased, but the immigration of Cubans
to Key West increased. The cigar industry soon grew to phenomenal heights and the
island became a refuge for Cuban revolutionaries (Gifford 9).
The more successful Key West was the more populated it became and soon the city
we now know as Miami spun off of Key West. In 1871, the arrival of the Cuban San
Carlos Institute and Opera House made Key West a rich and diverse city. The island
did suffer from a fire that destroyed fifty acres of downtown property in 1886, but by
then there was a steamship service and that made reconstruction of the city quick and
easy (4).
Soon the good luck of Key West was about to run out. A hurricane arrived and was
so destructive that it forced the cigar industry to the Tampa area. Then, their second
main industry, that was the sponge beds, was destroyed by a blight. The only (5)
thing they had left was the tourist industry and the Florida land boom collapsed in the
1920 s, so the only tourists they had were people passing through to Cuba. During The
Great Depression the island s problems escalated. In 1934, the people were
considering abandoning the island because up to 80% of the population was on
relief. Then a major setback occurred. The biggest hurricane to hit Key West
happened on Labor Day 1935.
The hurricane packed winds up to 200 miles an hour and killed hundreds of people.

Correctional Institutions Case Study Essay
Correctional Institutions have a strict budget. Therefore, implementing new programs
is heavily reliable on how the institutions budget can be relocated to provide funds
for the new program. This paper will analyse the difficulties and challenges one faces
when trying to pilot a new program. The new programis a anger management
counseling program that will require $350,000 and two new counselors. However, the
program has shown impressive results in other correctional institutions.
The first hurdle that has to be taken is to convince a senior leadership team to
pursue the program, knowing very well that some of them are sceptical and do not
take the program very seriously, since they think that the program that will lose
interest very soon. In order to convince this team one could show them studies that
investigated the results of the program. If this program produced impressive positive
results in other facilities, there would be a couple of studies that supported this
conclusion. One could also evaluate the population of the facility and seeing that it
was similar to the populations that benefitted from the new program, would argue
that it is applicable to this specific facility. Further, one could also look at the
recidivism rates of those offenders that completed the program. If the recidivism
decreased it could be argued that this program would help re socialise inmates and
prevent them from returning to the system. The program could also affect the inmate s
Examples Of Autonomou Extrinsic Motivation
For example, people that seek for strong social connections and get that, then that
need is diminished and the behavior wanes. In contrast to that SDT assumes that
people do not need to feel a shortage of the needs in order to express an appropriate
behavior. Sooner, people are involved in situations where need gratification might
appear. When people make their needs satisfied, they will probably feel stimulated
and actively involved in pursuing to fulfill the following higher needs (Deci Ryan
2000).
Fulfillment of the three needs might, though, be related differently to extrinsically
controlled and commanded motivation. Based on that, controlled motivation is
experienced due to external (i.e., bonus systems, supervisory evaluation) or internal
(i.e., feeling of guilt, shame) forces to express a particular behavior. It finds itself in
contradiction to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While many individuals are motivated by income, they may also be motivated by the
prestige that comes with owning a business or by working in a prestige company.
Business organizations use extrinsic motivation and a performance reward system for
energizing employees. Pay raises, bonuses, additional time offs, or other benefits are
common forms of extrinsic motivation. Companies institute performance
management systems to achieve maximum efficiency from employees when offering
these benefits. They may also be able to reduce employee workplace accidents by
offering extrinsic safety rewards.
Extrinsic rewards are significant for workers, of course. Pay is an important
consideration for most workers in accepting a job, and unfair pay can be a strong
de motivator. However, after people have taken a job and issues of unfairness have
been settled, many researchers find that extrinsic rewards are now less important, as
day to day motivation is more strongly driven by inner desires and

His idea of planning does not differ from what I learned in class; however, if I had

says. They do not have a lot of money to bring in students; therefore, they must
focus on providing a fun environment for the players that do decide to play for
them. I really enjoyed this experience because it made me want to branch out and
gain as much experience as I can. Coach Smith started right where I am at and is
currently in the process of working his way up through the ranks, hoping to reach the
division one level eventually. As he pushed his way from quality control coach here
at Indiana, to coach at Marian University, and then through multiple division three
schools, Coach Smith took a small amount of knowledge from every position he
held. Now, he finally got himself to an opportunity to learn how to coach and
effectively recruit players to come to his school. Overall, I believe this interview was
an important step for me to reach my career goals and I will use this experience to
grow as a coach. I feel that this assignment is one that students should take seriously
because it forces you to reach out to individuals that you may not have otherwise
contacted. Being one step closer to my career goals, I can thank Coach Smith for

The media plays a massive role in the politics of the United States today and truly sets
the agenda and makes an extensive impression on public opinion. Through political
advertising on the Internet and television along with numerous other outlets, the
opinions of citizens on issues such as healthcare, presidency candidates, and many
other concerns can be immensely swayed. Many Americans are not politically
intelligent or knowledgeable in current events so one well thought out advertisement
can nudge someone to vote for a particular person or advocate for a certain issue.
Political advertising does not significantly differ from advertising a consumer product
such as Fructis shampoo or Poptarts because both are pushing all the good things
about their product/issue onto you and hoping that you buy into what they are
advertising and take the bait. Also, some advertisements will promote how bad the
opposition is while declaring that their commodity/candidate is more qualified and
superior for numerous reasons. Due to the fact that these political advertisements and
the media manipulate political perspectives, this truly is an insult to the idea of free

beliefs there are no longer unaltered political views. The people are no longer making
their own decisions but rather having choices placed in front of them. The system of

values. Therefore, log10 transformed cortisol levels were modeled when the values

Issues Associated with Workplace Diversity
Workplace Diversity refers to the human characteristics that are present in the
workplace making people different from one another. Various human characteristics
would include race, gender, age, certain physical attributes, experience, and personal

Workplace Diversity does not only refer to those groups that have been discriminated

mixture of differences, similarities and tensions that can exist among the elements of
a pluralistic mixture.
Sexual Orientation Issues
Sexual orientation is a topic that organisations tend to discount or overlook.
E.g. Janet, a lesbian, started working as a purchasing assistant at a mid sized
plumbing supply store. She got along fine with her co workers, but she felt very
uncomfortable about the attitudes of many of the salespeople, who regularly made
jokes about Bob, a co worker who was gay. Janet thought that if she stood up for
him, she also would become a target of their jokes.
Recommendations
1.Include respect for all forms of diversity, even sexual orientation, into the
organisation s vision statement
2.Make a point to include sexual orientation issues in both your diversity awareness
programs and new employee orientation programme.
3.Ask managers to confront prejudiced remarks, jokes and behaviours.
4.Promoting and reinforcing the value of respecting people s beliefs

Egyptian Culture
These workers have spent countless days on crafting me, They use these tools to
craft edges to give me shape. For I do not know what exactly I am yet, I know I
must be important. One man, who must be the ruler or leader of these people,
checks on me everyday to see how close I am to being done. I do not understand
these people, but I believe that I am their creation using two different cultures. As I
take shape, I can see that my body is the shape of a creature. They call it an animal,
from what i can hear them talk about this animal, they call it a lion. This lion, is
huge in the egyptian culture. The fur and the lion s muscles are beautifully done to
the point where im am impressed. This process takes an incredibly long time to
finish and takes an incredible amount of concentration. I am not made of the same
material as the crafters, they look soft and warm but i feel like I am quite solid and
cold. I over hear the workers talking about how I am made from granite, a sculpting
material only used for the greatest of works.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is puzzling to me because that would make me half man and half lion.
Learning more from hearing the workers talking, I have found out that the
Egyptians have been taken over by a new ruler. For a very long time, Egypt has
been taking a lot of things from its neighbors the Kushites. The Kushites have lived
near the Egyptians for thousands of years, and always have been looked down upon
by its northern neighbor. They would often steal their resources, like their gold,
ivory and often their slaves. Slaves are a huge proponent of Egyptian culture, and
even Egypt was said to be the Master to the Kushites. Although recently, the Kushites
have conquered all of the cities in Egypt and have gained rule over
Perry Scheme
Framework and Cultural Considerations The base of Perry Scheme refers to how
college students learn to acquire knowledge and create their own beliefs (Sabri, D.,
Rowland, C., Wyatt, J., Stavrakopoulou, F., Cargas, S., Hartley, H. 2008). Perry
created nine well defined positions that students experience while in college. Theses
positions are delineated by the ways in which students view themselves in
relationship with what they believe (Kloss, R. J. 1994). The study done by William
Perry and his colleagues was conducted in the 1950 s. The population consisted
mainly of white, overwhelmingly male, upper class students at Harvard and Radcliffe
University(Wiley, J. 1999). This population represents the elite and do not represent
the diversity of college student, such as our client... Show more content on

According to Perry parent would be an example of Authorities (uppercase A),
because the clients viewed them as having the absolute right answer; authorities
(lowercase a) are characterized as things derived from relativistic world from
sources such as spirituality, expertise, training, wisdom, experience, and position
(Wiley, J. 1999). The client began college in Position One: Basic Duality, she
believed that all elders were the source of correct advice. In her maid authorities
possessed the Absolute Truth; they know the right answers and identify what is good
(Perry, 1970). This stage is defined as free from conflict as long as the instruction of
the Authorities is followed (Wiley, J. 1999). The client mentions that she knew that
all Authorities did not have the truth, her explains that her over arching experience
was that Authorities who cared for her would give her sound guidance. She was
taught that if she followed the instruction of Authorities the outcome of the situation
would be positive and this provided comfort and
Scotch Monologue
I wish I remembered more of my life. There are snapshots in my head but there are
long sections where I find it impossible to file in the gaps. I blame the scotch (no, I
didn t drink as a child). I drink a lot of scotch nowadays and that could be a
contributing factor. So I am going to start at the beginning and put things in place,
but they may not be in the right order. But you won t know that, would you, you
weren t there. I can pretty much put anything here and you will have no choice but
to believe it. I will make you this promise: I will not lie to you. I may embellish, or
down right just get it wrong, but I will not lie to you.

of copies of myself as I moved from the front hallway to the kitchen. Everything was
black, red, and white with dragons everywhere. It was a far cry from my Aunt Jo s
house with the plastic covered couch and painting of French Aristocrats dancing at a
ball that hung on the wall. I ll stick with the plastic covered furniture, thank you.
One of the more interesting aspect of our house is that we lived across the street
from a cemetery. Ironically, this would not be the last time I did that. The house we
lived in when the kids were born was right behind a Ukraine s church s cemetery. I ll
get to that later.
I don t remember the denomination of the church, but the cemetery must have been
there for a long time. I remember seeing some of the gravestones with dates going
back as far as the early 1700s. But I was a kid, I didn t think much about living across
from a cemetery; that s just where I grew up.
So I lived on the block. The block. That was a term.

Decision-Making Process Paper
Decision Making Process
People make decisions every day. What clothes to wear? What movie to watch?
What to cook for dinner? Most of us want to think that we are capable of making
logical decisions. Goldstein (2011) suggest deductive and inductive reasoning are
part of the decision making process. Deductive reasoning arrives at a conclusion
based on multiple premises that are assumed to be true and inductive reasoning
arrives at a conclusion based on what is probably true about the evidence (Goldstein,
2011). Consequently, doctors, attorneys, psychologists, and many other professionals
are held higher on accountability for their decision making processes. This essay
gives descriptions of how humans make logical and risky decisions, and methods ...

They are held to higher standards of ethical behavior for their roles and duties,
including their decision making processes (Rogerson, Gottlieb, Handelsman, Knapp,
Younggren, 2011). Conversely, when decisions involve complex circumstances,
making ethical decisions can become complicated. Ethical knowledge does not
always generate ethical behavior (Rogerson et al., 2011). Certain circumstances have
personal and interpersonal influences that affect decisions, and intuition may have a
larger effect. Rogerson et al., (2011) argues that in the field of psychology, these
professionals can improve decision making processes by including a broader range
of factors that can persuade decision and judgment. Whereas Ron Howard (1986)
argued that decision analysis enhances effective decision making providing
systematic analysis, imaginative creativity, and logic. Although Howard et al.,
argument evolved many years prior to Rogerson et al., the concept remains the same,
psychologist should not be receptive to presumptuous inappropriate roles of
advocacy or participate in analyses whose earnings are ethically distasteful. Howard

question how decision analysis improves actual decision making, conceptual criticism

Effects Of Martial Law In The Philippines
On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos issued Proclamation 1081,
declaring martial law over the Philippines. It has been 44 years since that dreadful
day, but the scars still remain in the heart of every Filipino citizen. Martial Law
proclaims that an area is placed under the control of the Armed Forces of the
Philippines. It is usually imposed when the government or civilian authorities fail to
function effectively. The reason behind the declaration of Martial Law in the
Philippines was to suppress a series of bombings, threat of a communist takeover,
and an assassination attempt on Secretary of Defense Juan Ponce Enrile in
Mandaluyong. This was also imposed to save the republic and to improve the social,
economic, and political... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, these good gains did not last long. Basic human rights were not attained
during the Martial Law. People at that time did not practice being disciplined at
that time, but instead, they followed orders because they feared the authorities
who had the power to arrest civilians who would disobey the rules. With power
given to the military to save democracy, they committed a number of human rights
violations. An estimate of 7,000 victims of torture, 2,000 people salvaged, and
1,000 people disappeared. (Malanes, 1999) Statistics are not just numbers. This
was a serious case of human rights violation wherein thousands of lives were lost
and thousands of families destroyed. Thus, the Martial Law is considered as the
darkest days of democracy. Human rights violations is the best evidence that there
was no democracy in the Philippines during Ferdinand Marcos regime. Additionally,
the economic crisis and debt crisis caused by the Martial Law made the country
suffer. Unemployment rates were high and poverty in the Philippines only grew
larger. A lot of people remember fondly the peace and order brought by the Martial
Law, but the brutal side of the Marcos regime brought us Filipinos into hardships,
sufferings, and
Mortgage Informative Speech
What is a mortgage and why do we have them?
Let us face it, having a mortgage is very difficult to maintain and it causes you an
arm a leg but, on the long run, it will pay off, literally. Knowing everything about a
mortgage is very beneficial when you are buying a house. Before becoming a
resident in your brand new home, you need to know quite a few things. Whether it s
down payments, mortgage insurances rates and other costs, they all fall into your
wallet. We simply have mortgages to assist us on purchasing a home. Some people
cannot afford to buy the house but can pay the debt over the course of a few years
more or less. Choosing the right mortgage that you can maintain is very mandatory
as well as knowing the proper terms and looking at what you re getting yourself
into. That is why, I will show you everything you are spending and what is coming
out of your wallet when buying a house. A mortgage is a loan given to you when you
need money to buy a home. Before receiving one, you must plan and do research
before laying down your money.
How do I get one?
Before learning everything about mortgages, you need to know how to get one so
you can prepare for the things to come. There are typically 4 steps to follow.

The Canadian Bank Act forbids most of federally regulated lending institutions from

rates, house values and terms combined to make your total payment of your
mortgage. You can use a calculator to plug in everything so it is easier. The total
cost of your mortgage is different from everyone else s. You will have different
numbers when it comes to your term, your house value and so
The Leadership Practice Of A Nursing Student
As a nursing student, I have had great success forming therapeutic relationships with
my clients and have received positive feedback from clinical instructors about my
patient communication. However, I experience uncertainty when interacting with
peers or colleagues. My lack of confidence translates into difficulty forming effective
professional relationships. This assessment is reflected in my Clinical Leadership
Survey as a deficit in the leadership practice of Encouraging the Heart. This practice
includes behaviors such as recognizing contributions, celebrating accomplishments,
and providing feedback (Patrick, Laschinger, Finegan, and Wong, 2011).
The results of my baseline survey support the theory that my weakness is in
interprofessional communication. Alternatively however, I recorded equal strength
of fourteen out of fifteen in the other four leadership practices. Each of these four
practices incorporates an element of Emotional Intelligence and reflective practice.
Based on my clinical experiences and feedback from instructors, I agree with these
results and can identify that interprofessional communication is the skill I must
develop to become an effective leader.
Personal Strategies Over the Term
Throughout this semester, I worked through the Unfreeze and Move stages of Lewin
s Force Field Model for change. Similar to the Assessment and Planning steps of the
Nursing Process, the Unfreezing stage occurs when the individual identifies a need

Colin Powell Pros And Cons
Who is Colin Powell? He is a retired four star General in the United States Army. He
was also the 65th United States Secretary of State (2001 2005), serving under
President George W. Bush. Powell was the first and only African American to serve
in that position to date and was an exemplary leader of many facets. Colin Powellhas
spent a majority of his life serving our Nation and is a decorated Army veteran.
Powell developed 18 principles in Leadershipbased off of his experiences and these
principles could be applied to develop better Leaders. I feel that I could relate to
several of his principles but the three that I identify with the most are you don t
know what you can get away with until you try, don t be afraid to challenge the pros,
even in their own backyard and lastly to have fun in your command.
Colin Powell s principle that states you don t know what you can get away with
until you try sticks out to me the most because it s how I ve lived my life thus far.
My favorite quote is to ask for forgiveness and never for permission. My entire
military career has been full of moments of my exercising Mission Commands

This is something that translates to any career field or aspect in life. I have spent
12 years in the military and have never allowed the status quo to dictate my
endeavors. Challenging the pros is an aspect I believe that drives the term perfect
your craft. In the wild the male lion has a pride that he must protect but no matter
how strong the lion, there is always a younger and stronger lion that will eventually
dethrone him. In our profession we must not stray away from challenging those we
seek to emulate and following them blindly for like the lion there will eventually be
a younger lion with his eyes on the pride. As Colin Powells principle states learn
from the pros, observe them...but remember even the pros may have leveled

Essays On Nutrition.pdf

  • 1. Essays On Nutrition Writing an essay on the topic of nutrition can present both challenges and opportunities for exploration. On one hand, the subject matter is broad and multidimensional, encompassing various aspects such as dietary habits, nutritional science, health implications, and cultural influences. This breadth allows for a rich and diverse exploration of ideas, but it also requires careful consideration to avoid being too broad or too narrow in focus. One of the difficulties in crafting an essay on nutrition lies in striking the right balance between scientific information and accessibility. While it's important to incorporate evidence-based research and nutritional principles, the essay should also be approachable for a general audience. Balancing the technical aspects of nutrition with a clear and engaging writing style can be a challenging task. Additionally, staying current with the latest research findings and nutritional guidelines is essential. The field of nutrition is dynamic, with new studies and recommendations constantly emerging. Ensuring that the essay reflects the most up-to-date information requires diligence and a commitment to staying informed. Another challenge is the need to navigate through conflicting information and varying perspectives within the field of nutrition. Different dietary philosophies and nutritional ideologies can sometimes present contradictory advice, making it essential for the writer to critically evaluate sources and present a well-rounded perspective. In conclusion, while writing an essay on nutrition can be challenging due to the broad and dynamic nature of the topic, it also offers an opportunity for in-depth exploration and the synthesis of diverse perspectives. Finding the right balance between scientific rigor and accessibility, staying current with research, and navigating conflicting information are all integral parts of successfully tackling this subject. Deprivation In The Galapagos Islands From causing erosion to threatening the survival of endemic flora and fauna, the effects of this invasion were deeply felt in the Galapagos Islands, a volcanic archipelago of nineteen islands situated in the Pacific Ocean, about one thousand kilometers from the Ecuadorian coast. After they were first introduced in the archipelago, the conditions of the ecosystem unfortunately yielded a massive increase in reproduction rates for goats―up to 10 35% per year. Specifically, due to two factors: the lack of the main predators―such as coyotes, dogs, mountain lions, foxes, eagles, and bobcats―of domestic goats, and the presence of large areas of grasslands and abundant vegetation on the islands. It was not until the late 1980s that the goat population

It is evident that many students greatly rely on these sites in order to interact with their friends and other people whether they know them or not. Being dependent to these sites promotes online friendships which are not good since they might encounter people that are suspicious in behavior. These sites hinder face to face friendship but many students reason out that they use SNS in order to communicate conveniently with their faraway friends. What do these SNS possess to make the students keep on using them? Why do students upload photos, videos, post comments /messages on other profiles and play social games? What are the benefits and purpose of doing these activities? Why are social networking sites frequently used by students nowadays? The researcher goal is to address these questions and have an in depth study with regards to those questions stated above. Students usage of social networking sites provides long lasting insights to identity construction, social behavior and peer to peer interaction therefore studies such as this arises that found out the real perspective of students about social life. B.Conceptual Framework In general, online relationships contain much weaker ties than face to face relationships (Vitak, 2008). Social networking sites such as Facebook offer users a convenient method for maintaining a large number of weak ties. While maintenance of strong ties typically requires significant commitments of time and energy, weak ties maybe managed

  • 5. Walt Disney Executive Summary Tokyo Disneyland was opened to the public on April 15, 1983. This amusement park was owned and operated by an unrelated Japanese corporation. The Walt Disney Company received royalties, paid in Yen, on certain revenues generated by Tokyo Disneyland. This new overseas business venture was bringing some concern about the foreign exchange risk to Disney. The management team at the Disney has been considering hedging future Yen inflows from Disney Tokyo since 1985. Mr. Anderson, the director of finance at The Walt Disney Company, focused his attention on a possible 15 billion ten year term loan with an interestrate of 7.5% paid semiannually. On the other hand, Goldman Sachs, who had been working with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Net income totaled $97.8 million in 1984, an increase of 5% from 1983.when looking at the Consolidated Balance Sheet (Exhibit2), we found that the total assets grew 15% to $2.7 billion at the end of fiscal 1984 due to addition of real estate inventories as part of the acquisition of another company. The ratio of debt to total capitalization jumped to 43% at 1984 from 20% at previous year. With the first opening of Tokyo Disneyland operated by an independent Japanese company and the inflow of Yen royalty receipts, the foreign exchange rate risk began to emerge. As the Yen depreciated, the revenues from the royalties were shrinking from 1980 to 1985. Therefore, the weak Yen had a negative influence on Disney s total net income. We also know the goal of the firm s management is to make the firm as valuable as possible, and then the firm should pick the debt equity ratio that makes the pie as big as possible. Usually, the total value of the firm equals the sum of the total debt and total equity. (V=D+E). As shown in the right chart, we can clearly get a conclusion that an increase in total value of debt will increase the total value of Disney from 1983 to 1984. We can maximize Disney s value by creating more value of the debt. If we expose the Yen debt to the risk of the fluctuation in Yen dollar exchange rates, it would also have great impact on the total value of our debt and
  • 6. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The English... English Language Learners There are many English Language Learners who may be at a higher disadvantage because they are learning English as a second language. Being introduced to any language is a challenging task for all small children; consequently, students who cannot communicate with any school staff members are often left behind. Due to the variety of languages in a school setting it would be difficult to have a dual immersion program set in place. However, in Kern County, there are many small towns whose population is primarily Spanish speaking. These town s students are faced with many difficulties as they try to adjust and transition to English because a lot of their parents do not speak English themselves. Schools with a high population of Spanish speaking students should offer a dual immersion program because it will provide their students the necessary tools to become proficient English languagelearners. Difficulties Many times, school faculty may feel that incorporating a dual immersion program may be confusing for students. They feel that their primary goal should be to learn English and there should be no distractions. In the past, due to these conflicting ideas, Most schools did away their long term bilingual programs, even though, prop 227 didn t actually outlaw learning in a foreign language (Mongeau, 2016). Students would benefit from learning two languages because they may need to follow instruction in their first language to understand the
  • 7. Essay On Density Determination Lab Hypothesis The objective of the density determination lab is to determine/compare the average density of pre 1982 and post 1982 pennies. This can be achieved by finding the mass to volume ratio then averaging the results. The purpose of this lab is to find out if the difference in composition of the pre and post pennies will affect their densities. Pennies made before 1982 where majority copper but pennies minted after 1982 are made with mostly zinc. With this background knowledge, we expect the outcome to be that the density of the pre pennies will be greater than the post pennies. This experiment will help us to determine if the pre pennies will have a higher density by finding the volumes and mass s then comparing the results. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Saving becomes more attractive: firms and households are more likely to keep saving money in the bank rather than spend. Reduced disposable income: households with a variable mortgage will see a rise in monthly mortgage interest payments. Therefore, they will have less income to spend. Overall, the money supply decreased. The decline in money supply causes an imbalance in the money market. At a given interest rate (i1) and the income (Y1) there is the excess demand for real money balances over supply. LM curve shifts to the left. Growth in interest rates causes a decrease of autonomous expenditures sensitive to interest rates. These autonomous expenditures sensitive to interest rate are investment and consumption. Equilibrium output of the economy falls to the level Y2 as described in the graph below. On open market operations, interest rate rose from 7% to 12% per annual to restrict the supply of money to the economy. An increase in the interest rate reduces investment by making it more expensive for firms to borrow money to make investment purchases and also by increasing the opportunity cost for those who plan to finance investment projects using their own funds. The rises in interest rates cause difficult for businesses, especially small and medium sized ones to access capital, forcing them to
  • 11. Comparison Between Hamlet And Frankenstein Have you ever felt responsible for something that has happened to your family? Like you had a chance to do something about it but you chose not to? This is a common thought as many people tend to blame themselves for something that they no hand in creating, without reason. This is not the case in both William Shakespeare s Hamlet and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. In both of these pieces of literature the protagonists rightfully blame themselves for what happens to some of their familymembers as they either created what caused harm to their families or they did the harming themselves, albeit unintentionally. Hamlet is charged with the family duty of avenging his father, while Dr. Frankensteinshould fulfil his obligation to foster his creation. Neither are able to fully execute their duties and their irresponsible nature causes their own downfall and the ultimate collapse of their family. The collapse of the protagonists and their families is brought on by mental anguish, a lack of comfort/love, and tragic death. Therefore, a son must obey the orders of a father and a father must provide guidance for his progeny to maintain the family unit. First, the collapse of the protagonists and their families is brought on by the mental anguish that both protagonists go through throughout their respective stories. This mental anguish is brought upon them through their guilt, their carrying a heavy burden, and their regretting a lot of what they have done. Hamlet feels guilt because

  • 13. Underlying Problems of the Kyoto Protocol For the past years, global warming and climate change became important issues of science and the environment. However, with the realization of the possible threats it poses to humankind in general, global warming gained international significance. Climate change is a global problem that requires a global response embracing the needs and interests of all countries (Boer, 2008). Countries around the world, convinced by the threats of the global warming, choose to act hand in hand to face to the issue. United Nations, the pioneering organization that resolves international conflicts, organized the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in July 1992. The conference, organized a series of talks to create a treaty whose goal is to stabilize greenhouse gasconcentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system . It resulted in the creation of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Commission (UNFCCC), the first step of the international community in mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emission. The Convention enjoys near universal membership, participated by 195 states. By considering global warming as a multilateral issue that knows no territorial boundaries, the treaty asks the cooperation of the participating states in combating the issue. The framework, although a very significant step in mitigating global warming, failed to accomplish its targets because of its inadequate

As I asked this question in my interviews, Jason Leiter said that he would value, Awareness of political events, diversity of the world (Leiter), whereas Cansu Ећenocak, a Turkish Math teacher, suggested that she would value How many areas is that person knowledgeable about (Senocak). In Islam, for example, the name Jahiliyyah was used to describe the pre Islamic period in Saudi Arabia, and the word can be literally translated as Age of Ignorance as jahili means ignorant (Jahiliyyah). The Ethical Decision Making Models Ethical Decision Making Models Decision making in the field of psychology refers to a cognitive process that results in a selection among multiple possible solutions in a situation (Colman, 2008). Decision making is based on available information from the environment as well as intrinsic information and existing schemas (Rogerson, Gottlieb, Handelsman, Knapp Younggren, 2011). These internal schemas, along with knowledge and personal preferences, influence the decision making process. There are several ethical decision making models including Kritchner s model, social constructivism, and organizational based models that take into consideration organizational factors and moral intensity. One of the first models for ethical decision making was developed in 1984 by Kritchener according to Cottone and Claus (2000). Kitchener argued that in an absence of ethical standards an individual uses personal value judgment which lead to subpar decisions. Kitchener based her model from previous model of moral development and recommended that counselors should strive to develop a deeper understanding of the implications of behaving ethically. Most decision making models are linear and are based on rational thought (Cottone Claus,

  • 23. The Postcolonial Of Amitav Ghosh s Novels Let Us Begin To understand the postcolonial readings of Amitav Ghosh s novels let us begin by understanding what postcolonial literature is. In this chapter, I will try to understand what the postcolonial literature does by theorizing the entire process of imperialization or colonization. In the following chapters I will try to understand the postcolonial perspective in Amitav Ghosh s fictional works. As Peter Barry observes in his Beginning Theory, postcolonial criticism emerged as a distinct category only in the 1990s. It has gained prominence through the influential books like In Other Worlds (Gayatri Spivak, 1987), the Empire Writes Back (Bill Ashcroft, 1989), Nation and Narration (Homi Bhabha, 1990) and Culture and Imperialism (Edward Said, 1993). A recurring feature of postcolonial writing is the attempt to identify the differential cultural identity. As oppositional discourse, postcolonial literature seeks to undermine the European discursive tradition that has promoted the entire process of imperialization. The postcolonial theory challenges system of conceptualizations and representation that justify and help maintain imperialist power during and after the age of colonization. As a means to achieve this end, the postcolonial theory seeks to establish a differential identity in an impulse to decolonize the mind. It challenges and resists the Western cultural hegemony. Over the last few decades postcolonial theory has evolved through different stages to encompass a variety of

  • 38. Issues Associated with Workplace Diversity Workplace Diversity refers to the human characteristics that are present in the workplace making people different from one another. Various human characteristics would include race, gender, age, certain physical attributes, experience, and personal habits. Workplace Diversity does not only refer to those groups that have been discriminated against or that are different from the dominant or privileged groups, but to the mixture of differences, similarities and tensions that can exist among the elements of a pluralistic mixture. Sexual Orientation Issues Sexual orientation is a topic that organisations tend to discount or overlook. E.g. Janet, a lesbian, started working as a purchasing assistant at a mid sized plumbing supply store. She got along fine with her co workers, but she felt very uncomfortable about the attitudes of many of the salespeople, who regularly made jokes about Bob, a co worker who was gay. Janet thought that if she stood up for him, she also would become a target of their jokes. Recommendations 1.Include respect for all forms of diversity, even sexual orientation, into the organisation s vision statement 2.Make a point to include sexual orientation issues in both your diversity awareness programs and new employee orientation programme. 3.Ask managers to confront prejudiced remarks, jokes and behaviours. 4.Promoting and reinforcing the value of respecting people s beliefs Gender Issues Women are entering the work force in greater numbers than ever
  • 39. Egyptian Culture These workers have spent countless days on crafting me, They use these tools to craft edges to give me shape. For I do not know what exactly I am yet, I know I must be important. One man, who must be the ruler or leader of these people, checks on me everyday to see how close I am to being done. I do not understand these people, but I believe that I am their creation using two different cultures. As I take shape, I can see that my body is the shape of a creature. They call it an animal, from what i can hear them talk about this animal, they call it a lion. This lion, is huge in the egyptian culture. The fur and the lion s muscles are beautifully done to the point where im am impressed. This process takes an incredibly long time to finish and takes an incredible amount of concentration. I am not made of the same material as the crafters, they look soft and warm but i feel like I am quite solid and cold. I over hear the workers talking about how I am made from granite, a sculpting material only used for the greatest of works.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is puzzling to me because that would make me half man and half lion. Learning more from hearing the workers talking, I have found out that the Egyptians have been taken over by a new ruler. For a very long time, Egypt has been taking a lot of things from its neighbors the Kushites. The Kushites have lived near the Egyptians for thousands of years, and always have been looked down upon by its northern neighbor. They would often steal their resources, like their gold, ivory and often their slaves. Slaves are a huge proponent of Egyptian culture, and even Egypt was said to be the Master to the Kushites. Although recently, the Kushites have conquered all of the cities in Egypt and have gained rule over
  • 40. Perry Scheme Framework and Cultural Considerations The base of Perry Scheme refers to how college students learn to acquire knowledge and create their own beliefs (Sabri, D., Rowland, C., Wyatt, J., Stavrakopoulou, F., Cargas, S., Hartley, H. 2008). Perry created nine well defined positions that students experience while in college. Theses positions are delineated by the ways in which students view themselves in relationship with what they believe (Kloss, R. J. 1994). The study done by William Perry and his colleagues was conducted in the 1950 s. The population consisted mainly of white, overwhelmingly male, upper class students at Harvard and Radcliffe University(Wiley, J. 1999). The client began college in Position One: Basic Duality, she believed that all elders were the source of correct advice. In her maid authorities possessed the Absolute Truth; they know the right answers and identify what is good (Perry, 1970). This stage is defined as free from conflict as long as the instruction of the Authorities is followed (Wiley, J. 1999). The client mentions that she knew that all Authorities did not have the truth, her explains that her over arching experience was that Authorities who cared for her would give her sound guidance. She was taught that if she followed the instruction of Authorities the outcome of the situation would be positive and this provided comfort and
  • 41. Scotch Monologue I wish I remembered more of my life. There are snapshots in my head but there are long sections where I find it impossible to file in the gaps. I blame the scotch (no, I didn t drink as a child). I drink a lot of scotch nowadays and that could be a contributing factor. So I am going to start at the beginning and put things in place, but they may not be in the right order. But you won t know that, would you, you weren t there. I can pretty much put anything here and you will have no choice but to believe it. I will make you this promise: I will not lie to you. I may embellish, or down right just get it wrong, but I will not lie to you. I was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 24th, 1958. Familylegend had it that my mother, a woman ... I ll stick with the plastic covered furniture, thank you. One of the more interesting aspect of our house is that we lived across the street from a cemetery. Ironically, this would not be the last time I did that. The house we lived in when the kids were born was right behind a Ukraine s church s cemetery. I ll get to that later. I don t remember the denomination of the church, but the cemetery must have been there for a long time. I remember seeing some of the gravestones with dates going back as far as the early 1700s. But I was a kid, I didn t think much about living across from a cemetery; that s just where I grew up. So I lived on the block. The block. That was a term. Where are you
  • 42. Decision-Making Process Paper Decision Making Process People make decisions every day. What clothes to wear? What movie to watch? What to cook for dinner? Most of us want to think that we are capable of making logical decisions. Goldstein (2011) suggest deductive and inductive reasoning are part of the decision making process. Deductive reasoning arrives at a conclusion based on multiple premises that are assumed to be true and inductive reasoning arrives at a conclusion based on what is probably true about the evidence (Goldstein, 2011). Consequently, doctors, attorneys, psychologists, and many other professionals are held higher on accountability for their decision making processes. Certain circumstances have personal and interpersonal influences that affect decisions, and intuition may have a larger effect. Rogerson et al., (2011) argues that in the field of psychology, these professionals can improve decision making processes by including a broader range of factors that can persuade decision and judgment. • 43. Effects Of Martial Law In The Philippines On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos issued Proclamation 1081, declaring martial law over the Philippines. It has been 44 years since that dreadful day, but the scars still remain in the heart of every Filipino citizen. Martial Law proclaims that an area is placed under the control of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. It is usually imposed when the government or civilian authorities fail to function effectively. The reason behind the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines was to suppress a series of bombings, threat of a communist takeover, and an assassination attempt on Secretary of Defense Juan Ponce Enrile in Mandaluyong. This was also imposed to save the republic and to improve the social, economic, and political... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, these good gains did not last long. Basic human rights were not attained during the Martial Law. People at that time did not practice being disciplined at that time, but instead, they followed orders because they feared the authorities who had the power to arrest civilians who would disobey the rules. With power given to the military to save democracy, they committed a number of human rights violations. An estimate of 7,000 victims of torture, 2,000 people salvaged, and 1,000 people disappeared. (Malanes, 1999) Statistics are not just numbers. This was a serious case of human rights violation wherein thousands of lives were lost and thousands of families destroyed. Thus, the Martial Law is considered as the darkest days of democracy. Human rights violations is the best evidence that there was no democracy in the Philippines during Ferdinand Marcos regime. Additionally, the economic crisis and debt crisis caused by the Martial Law made the country suffer. Unemployment rates were high and poverty in the Philippines only grew larger. A lot of people remember fondly the peace and order brought by the Martial Law, but the brutal side of the Marcos regime brought us Filipinos into hardships, sufferings, and

  • 45. The Leadership Practice Of A Nursing Student As a nursing student, I have had great success forming therapeutic relationships with my clients and have received positive feedback from clinical instructors about my patient communication. However, I experience uncertainty when interacting with peers or colleagues. My lack of confidence translates into difficulty forming effective professional relationships. This assessment is reflected in my Clinical Leadership Survey as a deficit in the leadership practice of Encouraging the Heart. This practice includes behaviors such as recognizing contributions, celebrating accomplishments, and providing feedback (Patrick, Laschinger, Finegan, and Wong, 2011). The results of my baseline survey support the theory that my weakness is in interprofessional communication. Alternatively however, I recorded equal strength of fourteen out of fifteen in the other four leadership practices. Each of these four practices incorporates an element of Emotional Intelligence and reflective practice. Based on my clinical experiences and feedback from instructors, I agree with these results and can identify that interprofessional communication is the skill I must develop to become an effective leader. Personal Strategies Over the Term Throughout this semester, I worked through the Unfreeze and Move stages of Lewin s Force Field Model for change. Similar to the Assessment and Planning steps of the Nursing Process, the Unfreezing stage occurs when the individual identifies a need for change (Kelly

He was also the 65th United States Secretary of State (2001 2005), serving under President George W. Bush. Powell was the first and only African American to serve in that position to date and was an exemplary leader of many facets. Colin Powellhas spent a majority of his life serving our Nation and is a decorated Army veteran. Powell developed 18 principles in Leadershipbased off of his experiences and these principles could be applied to develop better Leaders. I feel that I could relate to several of his principles but the three that I identify with the most are you don t know what you can get away with until you try, don t be afraid to challenge the pros, even in their own backyard and lastly to have fun in your command.
