Neural Networks in Investments Essay example
Neural Networks in Investments
I. ABSTRACT
Investment managers often find themselves overwhelmed with the large amount of data obtained from
the financial markets. Most of the data available is numeric and noisy in nature, making the decision
making process harder. These decisions usually rely on the integration of statistical measures that
attempt to compress much of the data and qualitative depictions such as graphs and bar charts with
news events and other pertinent information. Investment decisions usually involve non linear
relationships among the various components of the data. Computers in general, are very adept at
dealing with large amounts of numeric information. However, some algorithms are crucial in
analyzing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the simplest level, neural networks are a new way of analyzing data. The revolutionary aspect of
neural networks is their ability to learn and trace the complex patterns and trends in data. Neural
networks are made up of neurons and behave like the human brain, and has the ability to apply
knowledge from past experience to new problems. Neural networks acquire this knowledge by
training on a set of data. After the network has been trained and validated, the model may be applied
to data it has not seen previously for prediction, classification, time series analysis or data
segmentation.
Unlike traditional statistical methods, neural networks do not require assumptions about the model
form. A statistical analysis requires a certain form to be assumed such as linearity, which characterizes
relationships between variables. Neural networks are more tolerant of imperfect data, such as the
presence of missing values or other data quality problems. Neural networks perform better than
traditional statistical methods when the model form is unknown or nonlinear, or when the problems
are complex with highly inter related relationships.
In a dynamic environment, neural networks are flexible tools and have the capacity to learn rapidly
and change quickly. As the data values and outcomes change, the model quickly learns and adapts
itself. Rule based systems

Cultural Anthropology

Kinship is the cornerstone for how people within a society relate to others and race lineages. Many
societies trace their lineage through the father, which is called patrilineal, or through the mother which
is called matrilineal. The Iroquois nation traced their kinship through the matrilineal decent lines.
Kinship directly relates to how family groups think, act and live along side each other. The culture of
the Iroquois can also be compared to how many American families relate to one another as well.
Iroquois Lineage The Iroquois nation traced their lineage through the female sex; this is called the
matrilineal line. Women of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often times there are couples that get married but have chosen not to stay with one another because of
a difference in opinion, this is called divorce.
Iroquois and divorce Often time s couples marry only to find out that they have a difference of opinion
or one spouse has caused serious marital strain on the other. Since the Iroquois couples lived
matrilineally, this makes it easier for the woman to dissolve the marriage, keep her children and
continue to live at home with her family. If a woman no longer desired to be married to her husband,
all she had to do was pack up her husband s belongings and leave them on the steps of the longhouse.
When he came home, the husband would find them, realize his wife had terminated the marriage, and
return to his home village and his own patrilineage. (Nowak, B. amp; Laird, P. 2010 chapter 4.5
Divorce) In the American culture it is more difficult to obtain a divorce.
Americans and divorce Americans divorce for the same reasons the Iroquois divorced for however, in
the American culture it is harder to divorce. Many times couples divorce because of infidelity of one
or both of the spouses, or from irreconcilable differences. In order to obtain a divorce in America
many states require the couple to attend counseling to see if they can fix their marriage. Sometimes
this is successful and the couple will stay together and often times it is not possible for the couple to
stay together so they will then obtain a divorce

Big Wave Surfing Research Paper
Eddie Returns After A Six Year Absence
Eddie , a big wave competition, took place at Waimea Beach for the first time in six years this past
weekend. The waves that are critical to Big Wave surfing reached a record height as many of them
reached 60 feet this year. In order for a competition to be considered an Eddie , the waves must be
over 40 feet high and be sustainable all day. This year, El Nino played a big part to the height of these
waves as the weather pattern fueled the water and the creation of them.
Big Wave surfing has always drawn in a big crowd to the beaches of Hawaii in the winter. A record
number of people lined the beach to watch 28 elite and professional surfers take on the monster waves
off the bay. It was estimated that over 25,000 people came to the beach in awe of the getting the
chance to see the Eddie . Some people camped out for 24 hours in order to get a prime view of the
competition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Losing Weight
According to the Center for Disease Control over 70% of adults over the age of 20 are overweight,
and 38% of the population are classified as obese (cdc.gov). Every day we are sold by the idea of The
magical cure all , some supplement or diet that will somehow fix every issue for you. The idea that we
can literally change nothing about our lives and drop weight is seductive and tempting, but ultimately
it s utterly false. At its most basic level, losing weight is a math issue and nothing more. There is no
magical pill or supplement that will somehow make you burn all the extra calories you re intaking
everyday. So, with that said we are left with one of two options; diet, or change your lifestyle. Dieting
is defined as restricting oneself to small amounts or special kind of food in order to lose weight.
Instantly with that definition you receive such a negative connotation to the idea of fat loss. The idea
that a person has to Restrict themselves is almost offensive to the average adult, it simply implies that
they have this supreme lack of willpower and have to force themselves into an uncomfortable
position. In 2012 twenty billion dollars was spent in the weight loss industry, the average American
will attempt to lose weight five times before any meaningful results (The weight loss industry by the
numbers). Even when the diet is successful the average person on a diet will have recovered all their
weight lost plus an additional few pounds six months after (Long term

How Planetary Differentiation Affected The Layers Of The...
Have you ever wondered what the inside of the earth looks like? How it functions? How it was
formed? Unit 2 has been all about the interior Earth. We learned many things like how planetary
differentiation affected the layers of the earth. How people use seismic data to find the depth of the
layers. And what convection currents from inside the earth, create. We learned about the interior Earth
for Unit 2.
Planetary differentiation happened when the Earth first formed. The formation of this planet generated
heat from gravitational energy and the decay of radioactive elements. Scientists think that earth may
have become so hot that it melted. Denser materials sank toward the center, forming Earths dense, iron
core. Less dense material hardened over time to form Earth s outer layers the crust and mantle.
Planetary differentiation created the layers of the Earth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We learned that in 4th grade. We went more in depth with that this year. There are two types of Crust;
oceanic and continental. Oceanic is thinner and is mostly made of out basalt. Continental crust is
mostly made out of granite. This layer drifts slowly and is solid. The Earth has sub layers. The
lithosphere is part of the crust and uppermost Mantle. Next down is the Asthenosphere, where all the
tectonic plates are. Then the lowest part of the Mantle is called the Mesosphere. The Mantle is semi
solid and has convection currents that move the tectonic plates. It contains more iron than the layer
above. The outer core has convection currents that create the magnetic field. It s the swirly hot iron
that really causes it. This is the only layer that is liquid. The inner core is solid because of the great
pressure on it. It is extremely hot. The deeper you go the hotter it gets and iron increases. Two out of
the four main layers have convection

We Real Cool Gwendolyn Brooks Analysis
We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of teenage rebellion.
This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the
poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth.
Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African American consciousness.
During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American men
felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the surface, it appears this poem
is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses
the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect
between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever people gather and
spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to its effects and often experience it because of
shared experiences or they share the same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group
has enough influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual is
desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know that they are
participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real Cool. As the poem begins, the
reader is introduced to the subjects of the poem, The Pool Players. Seven at the

The Daily Show On The Congressional Record
The Daily Show is on the congressional record. It occurred during a debate on the Blunt Amendment,
which would allow employers to decline to provide birth control as part of their health care plans.
On February 28th, 2012 California Senator Barbara boxer attempted to quote The Daily Show bid on
the floor of the senate. Senator Boxer said: Jon Stewart took this issue on and said: Well, I ll tell you
something, I love Blunt Amendment because he says I am an employer and I believe that humor is the
best medicine.
On March 1st, 2012, Stewart dedicated the entire episode of his show to talk about the Blunt
Amendment and the controversy around it. He, as usual, mocked, poked fun at politicians and
approached the absurdity of passing the bill. The Blunt Amendment was sponsored by Senator Blunt
that would override Obama s Administration s new contraception plan, and allow any employer to
refuse to cover any kind of health case service by citing moral reasons.
The amendment was defeated in the Senate by a vote of 51 to 48. . Staci Beavers argued that Jon
Stewart brought up the Blunt Amendment debate, while no other news or media outlet did.
Example 3: The Zadroga Bill
Jon Stewart attracts considerable news media in many politicized issues. He played an important role
in pressuring lawmakers to pass legislation, providing health care to 9/11 responders, in which Stewart
was credited for the Zadroga bill s passage by the White house and other media and political news

Carbon-14 Dating
The key principle behind radiocarbon 14 dating is plants and animals exchange carbon with their
surroundings and thus contain the same ratio of carbon 12 to carbon 14 once an organism dies it no
longer exchanges carbon with its surroundings. The carbon 14 will slowly decay at a known rate
decreasing the ratio of carbon 12 to carbon 14. Since the decay rate and original ratio of carbon 12 to
carbon 14 is known we can determine how old a sample is by the amount of carbon 14 remaining.
There are two ways to measure the carbon 12 to carbon 14 ratio. The first being beta counting. Beta
counting was the first method used to measure carbon 14 levels in a sample. Two different type of beta
counting were primarily used. The first of those being liquid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Federal Funding for Public Broadcasting is a Bust Essay
Each year the United States spends .014% of its budget on public broadcasting. This amounted to
approximately $445 million spent on funding towards public broadcasting in 2012. (Defending Public
Broadcasting Should Not Be Done Lightly) The funding was meant to help public broadcasting
stations get to a state where they could support themselves on their own. However, many stations
continued to take the funding even though they did not require it. Despite this, the stations that abused
the funding happened to have some very educational programs that most stations lacked which
brought the question whether or not they should be punished. But think about it, is it not bad enough

The funding provided by the federal government was meant to temporarily help public broadcasting
stations until they could become self sustaining, and stations such as PBS have proven that they are
now much more than self sustaining. What does this mean? It means that we are not just paying taxes
to help support stations in desperate need of the funding; it means that we are helping to pay for some
greedy stations bills due to them being too lazy to pay from their own wallet. This is not only hurting
our budgets, economy, and living conditions at home. This is also flowing money away from
situations that are truly in dire need of the money. These situations would include community projects,
poor hospitals, the homeless and hungry, disaster victims, and other minor, but significant tragedies.
Some may argue that many stations are innocent and really use federal funding for its intended
purpose, but does that mean that the cost is worth it? More money would be wasted on selfish penny
pinchers over at PBS and other minor stations than anywhere else. So in the end it really doesn t seem
worth it, it s just too big of a hassle and they can thank PBS for the funding cuts. But let us back track
a bit now, what about broadcasting by radio? Well if you re asking this, then you are probably not
aware that federal funding only provides 5.8% of their

The Importance of Setting in Wuthering Heights
Wuthering Heights is a timeless classic in which Emily Brontë presents two opposite settings.
Wuthering Heights and its occupants are wild, passionate, and strong while Thrushcross Grange and
its inhabitants are calm and refined, and these two opposing forces struggle throughout the novel.
Wuthering Heights is out on the moors in a barren landscape. Originally a farming household, it sits
[o]n that bleak hilltop [where] the earth was hard with a black frost (14). Because winds constantly
buffet the house, the architect?[built] it strong; the narrow windows are deeply set in the wall, and the

At the sight of Hindley coming home drunk, Nelly Dean takes the shots out of the gun, which he was
fond of playing with in his insane excitement (75) and tries to hide Hareton from his drunken father.
Just as Nelly is hiding Hareton in the cabinet, Hindley storms home and accuses Nelly of keeping his
son away from him, finally threatening her with a carving knife. And when Hareton neglects to kiss
his father, Hindley picks up the frightened boy, denouncing, I ll break the brat s neck (76). Then,
carrying him up the stairs, Hindley puts Hareton over the banister and releases him, only scarcely
caught by Heathcliff. Obviously, Hindley acts with wild passion, often times resulting in violence.
Growing up in this wild and stormy household, Heathcliff also takes on these attributes. After Hindley
gambles the house away and dies, Heathcliff becomes the master, belittling Hareton?a destined
gentleman of the area to a lowly, uneducated, friendless servant, often beating him as Hindley did
himself. Besides beating Hindley s son, Heathcliff also strikes young Cathy in a fit of rage: with this
liberated hand, and, pulling her on his knee, administered with the other a shower of terrific slaps on
both sides of the head (258), and when Nelly attempts to stop him, Heathcliff silences her by a touch
on the chest (258). Like their surroundings, the occupants of Wuthering Heights are strong, rugged,
and stormy.

Standard State Conservation Districts Law (1931-1939)
The Government started out in 1934 with the Taylor Grazing Act, which set restrictions on the use of
public lands for grazing, followed by a switch from free ranging cattle to feedlots (Naff). On March 3,
1937, Arkansas became the first state to enact the Standard State Conservation Districts Law (Dust
Bowl 1931 1939). Other men started a business of erupting TNT in the sky to encourage rainfall
(Surviving the Dust Bowl). President Roosevelt ordered the Civilian Conservation Corps to plant trees
from Canada to Abilene, Texas, in a huge belt of more than two million to break the wind, hold water
in the soil, and keep the soil itself in place. Irrigation expansion was the most essential solution to the

Classical Vs. Modern Music
Classical vs. Modern Music
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria. He was born to an
overbearing and ambitious father, Leopold, who was more than anxious to exploit his son s
extraordinary musical gifts. Mozart began composing at an early age, and he began touring around the
same time. Throughout his life, Mozart made many enemies, many his own fault, through his naive
arrogance and harsh critique of his musical contemporaries. He worked feverishly, composing
symphonies and operas, as well as touring constantly. Mozart died of overwork and kidney failure on
the 5th of December 1791 while still ironically at work on the Requiem Mass for an unknown patron.

Emmanuel Krivine conducted the performance, with featured soloists Joshua Bell (Vieuxtemps violin
concerto) and Stewart Goodyear (Mozart piano concerto). A full orchestra performed the symphonies.
Overall, the Mostly Mozart Festival was a tremendously enjoyable experience. The qualities that
define the works of Mozart are often the same as those that are used to describe those of the classical
period of music, from his smooth melodies and flowing rhythm, to his pleasing use of dynamics to
create an atmosphere of complete satisfaction. One of the most defining principles of the style of
Mozart is the connection to nature and God, and the seeming oneness and harmony that can be
achieved simply by listening while the melodies take you to a higher plane of thought.
The most enjoyable piece from the performance was Allegro, from Mozart s Concerto in Dm. There
are simply not enough words in the English vocabulary to describe how eloquently crafted and
rhythmically shaped this piece is. One of the most outstanding elements of this piece is the harmony
created between the piano and the strings as they accompany each other with seeming flawlessness.
The resulting experience is exhilarating to say the least. Accentuating the piece even more was the
performance by the virtuoso pianist, Stewart Goodyear. Although still in his early twenties, this

Colorectal Cancer Screening SWOT Analysis
There must be a strategic plan in place to achieve a successful program, and that requires the use of
the SWOT Analysis model. (Shi Johnson, 2012). By determining the strength, the weakness, the
opportunity, and the threats of a program, there is a chance that the organization s strategic planning
remains sustainable (Shi et al., 2012). Also, each area of a well develop SWOT analysis (See
Appendix A) must be able to complement one another. For example, based on the SWOT result, the
organizational strength is that the stakeholders are engaging, motivated, and well experience in the

However, finding out about a deadly disease on a timely manner outweigh the risk of not knowing.
For example, as mentioned before, a close friend name Yvonne died of colorectal cancer couple of
years ago. The reason for her death was that she found out too late that she had CRC. Worse, after
spending all her life savings, even though she had insurance, she had to listen to the physician telling
her the most famous but detrimental words there is nothing we can do for you at this stage. With that
said, the plan is to use stories like Yvonne s to persuade all stakeholders that increasing the statistics
with the number of survivors is the only and most advantageous option for all. Also, the Health
Department can help convince policy makers to provide more funds to sustain such program relying
on the fact that early screening can prevent colorectal cancer related death by finding precancerous

detection of CRC at a less advanced stage is easy to treat; therefore cost effective (Center for Disease

Time And Place To Meditate
Where, and when to meditate
Presumably, easier to find time and place to meditate, as long as you live alone. However, if you live
with a family, you are confronted with additional complications. Fortunately, in the beginning, it is
enough five ten minutes to be alone, to sit on your cushion. Later, as a more advanced meditator,
probably you will want more time, by then hopefully, your family might be accustomed already to
your meditation habit, and likely they won t hinder you. We were talking about what type of
meditation could be the best for you. Now we discuss the best time and the place to meditate.
Where to meditate?
Foremost, let s begin with the easiest, the breath meditation. Usually, the recommendation for that, it
should take twenty thirty minutes. Initially, it can be troublesome to find a fixed time for it. Besides, it
may feel tiring to sit still that long. Moreover, you can have too many disturbing thoughts, you do not
know what to do with, or perhaps it just seems way too boring to sit half an hour without doing
anything.

Nice try, but not the money since, we can increase its quantity. The single element we certainly feel to
have a shortage is time. People always have lack of time, and no one can increase the daily 24 hours to
25. We feel the lack of time especially at the end of our life. Otherwise, the time has an extraordinary
nature. The more action you fit into a given time, the less experience will remain in your memory in
the future. In case, you regularly operate in a multitask mode; you let the worth remembering

My loose stomach felt as if it was thrust inside my chest. My heart raced faster than Allyson Felix at

The Negative Psychological Effects Of Police Uniforms On...
The Negative psychological effects of the police uniform on the Canadian Society
The uniform worn by a police officer often psychologically embodies each individual s stereotypes
about the officer s authority, status, and motivations. In this formal paper I will be exploring the cause
of negative perceptions that Canadian minorities have on police uniforms.
Introduction
Most individuals can identify a police officer by their uniform, which subconsciously conveys power
and authority. People in a presence of a police officer tend to hide or stop any illegal, deviant
activities, because of the sudden worry of getting caught. Canada is a place of numerous cultures, and
ethnicities that fused together to create a strong sense of multiculturalism, but depending on the
background and social status of the individual the police uniform can deliver various emotions that
can either be either positive or negative. To some citizens a sight of the police uniform can bring
instant fear and anger, which can be triggering or traumatic for those who have experienced
oppression (Kingsley,2017). These perceptions essentially create a stigma that has less favourable
views of the police for the minority groups such as, the Aboriginal peoples, the LGBTQ community,
and individuals that immigrated from other counties.
Effect on Aboriginal Community Aboriginal peoples in Canada, have historically been and continue to
be victims of political injustices which now characterize the Canadian Society.

In this particular group project, we need to come up with a proposal and a decision on which two
employees should be submitted for permanent layoff. It was painful decision who should go. As these
approaches are painful to staff involved. Not only workers are laid off, but layers of management can
be collapsed, resulting in new management structures. We must be careful with the decisions of
layoffs, as it could lead to poor morale. Total of five employees have been assigned for our group
proposal, and each employee has been given brief information about their background. As our group
discussion took part, we all started to do our self evaluations about each employee using his/her

Individuals would state that our era is dependent or ward of innovation. Some would rapidly make that
supposition about our era. Individuals in my era could be delegated dependent on their telephones,
computer games and so forth since they invest such a great amount of energy of those gadgets. Others
would state it is an interest, for example, perusing a book or playing a round of golf. There are some in
the more established eras are additionally extremely reliant on innovation, for instance one may have a

In today s general public innovation is all around, and new innovation is being created step by step. As
I would like to think the general population who say that the more youthful era is subject to innovation
isn t right. The more youthful era is simply utilizing the assets accessible to us, whether it be a PDA or

History Of Air Assault Operations During The Korean War
History of Air Assault
The purpose behind my topic is to simply show a little insight to the beginnings and processes of how
air assault operations came about. The importance aviation played from Korea through Vietnam and
onto the complex battlefield that is being fought today. Throughout history we have seen what using
aviation and specifically utility based aircraft in a role of something more deliberate such as aerial
reconnaissance, troop transport, medevac and logistical missions can do for the ground force
commander and become a combat multiplier.
The military realized the importance of aviation during the Korean War due to terrain restrictions and
the ability for men and equipment to move further and move faster to a location regardless of the
terrain, a great asset when it comes to choosing between walking or flying. After Korea and the
beginning of the Vietnam is really when air assault operations took off. The inception of the Air
Cavalry in 1965 turned the tide in what we consider to be the foundation of air assault operations on a
complex battlefield. One of these operations that will be pointed out in this paper is the battle of Ia
Drang Valley which occurred in the fall of 1965 and was received as the first division air assault
victory in recorded history. The scale in which that air assault took place was unprecedented and had
never been seen before.

How Is General Zaroff A Dynamic Character
In every story there is always a mysterious character that the author does not provide enough
information and background to the readers. This adds suspense to the story, adding more surprises and
eye opening astonishments. In the case of this short story The Most Dangerous Game, General Zaroff
is that character. He is preceded as the antagonist character that is uncivilized, cruel, and reckless.
General Zaroff plays the role of a dynamic and complex character that develops over the course of the
story. In the introductory of the character General Zaroff, one would assume that he is a civilized man
because of the fact that he is first presented as a well dressed wealthy man who lived on an island
which was owned by himself. Within General ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his opinion, he believes in life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if needs be taken by
the strong. The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. Why should I
not use my gift? (page 7). This proves that he views the world in a primitive fashion, believing that the
weak should suffer beneath the feet of the strong. He believes that the world is split into two. One
being greater than the other or one being more superior over the other. Due to the fact that General
Zaroff believes he is one of the strong, he assumes that he is obligated to exterminate the weak.
General Zaroff is convinced that killing humans is acceptable. He enjoys the thrill of killing humans
as he once did for tigers, hinting tigers ceased to interest me some years ago. I exhausted their
possibilities, you see. No thrill left in tigers, no real danger. I live for danger (page 5). Killing humans
instead of animals provides him pleasure and he does it for entertainment purposes because they can
reason, after a fashion (page 7). This reveals that General Zaroff does not have the same feelings
towards the values of life as others would. By that, one could assume that he does not have a clear
idea of the difference between right and

Chronic Acalculous Cholecystitis
When a patient comes with abdominal pain, it can be due to different causes. The pain may be
visceral, somatoparietal or referred pain as an indicator of a wide variety of systemic and local causes.
Visceral pain is from abdominal distention or stretching of the muscle fibers, carried by sympathetic
nerve fibers, presents as dull, poorly localized pain in the mid areas of the abdomen. Somatic pain
occurs once the parietal peritoneum is inflamed or irritated, and passed by sensory fibers. Somatic
pain is better defined and more localized, high intensity, and also associated with tenderness and
spasm of the localized muscle groups.

BBC s arguments for their decision on televising Jerry Springer: The Opera
According to figures from BBC News, over 1.7 million people tuned in to watch the opera. The report
continues to state that there were 317 phone calls made to the BBC since the transmission and a mass
of them were very supportive. [3] However, there was an overall high figure of 63,000 complaints
about the opera and it became the most criticised television programme ever. [4] (Inglis, Media Ethics.
2014 pers. comm., 8th December) Despite the number of complaints, the BBC defended their decision
on broadcasting the opera through a corporation spokesman. The spokesman said that the BBC
conformed to their choice of televising the contentious opera and that it endures to be shown to
congested audiences in London s theatres. [5] This statement shows that there were people interested
in the opera by the time the BBC broadcasted it. The spokesman continues by saying that the
corporation were proud to see that a broad range of crowds were able to witness a vital modern
musical work. [6] (Created with Microsoft Works Spreadsheet.) BBC News. 2005. Springer opera

Frankenstein Parent Child Relationship
Importance of Parent Child Relations Many people are raised without a mother or father and end up
seemingly normal, but they might not be as well off as they seem. The percentage of children younger
than 18 living with two parents has decreased dramatically over the last 40 years (Collins). This shows
that increasingly more children have to get by with only one parent, changing the way they may act
later on in life. It is represented in the books Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Frankenstein by
Mary Shelley that children are modeled after their parents, meaning parents need to give all the help
they can. It is also true that mothers are more confident when in a relationship and will raise their
child better (Collins). This proves that couples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the article The Importance of a Father in a Child s Life by Stef Daniel, in matters of
substance abuse, depression, behavior problems and psychological maladjustment the love of a father

teenagers, 111 percent more likely to have children as teenagers, 164 percent more likely to have a
premarital birth, and 92 percent more likely to dissolve their own marriages. (Muehlenberg). There are
countless more reasons as to why fathers need to spend more time with their children. If Hamlet s
father had been kinder and a better father, the horrible tragedy that took place would have never

Basically, there are many good examples of market success of the ideas built up on people s total

Natural Law Theory Vs Utilitarianism
In this paper, I will argue that a combination of Natural Law Theory and Utilitarianism best captures
what should be required in terms of respecting natural rights.
One of the benefits of Utilitarianism is that it looks at what we ought to do, not must do, while
keeping in mind the consequences of our actions. On the negative side, all consequences, short term
and long term, must be considered, often making it very difficult to make the ultimately correct
decision, since seeing the future is not a human attribute. Who is to determine what is best? The easy
answer is the majority, but this could result in the tyranny of the majority. One of Natural Law Theory
s benefits is that it uses reason to determine social and personal human nature to ... Show more content

Since Utilitarianism is mainly about what ought to be done, when what ought to be done is decided by
the majority, and goes against what the minority believes to be right, the tyranny of the majority is
pushed onto the minority. As an example, prior to the 1980 s it was common to smoke in public, at
work, and in restaurants. American society s norms changed, and smoking was no longer approved of
by the majority. The result was that millions of smokers, unable or unwilling to quit, were forced to
give up their freedom of smoking. While argument that smoking is unhealthy is valid, smoking was
acceptable for over 200 years in America. This also happened with alcohol, with the 18th Amendment
banning it in 1920, and Marijuana being outlawed in 1937.
While on the surface the argument that Natural Rights Theory could lead to anarchy sounds plausible,
and Bentham and Burke may have had cause to state so, eventually the turmoil that may at first seem
to be anarchy, eventually does settle down as social contracts are developed, and governments created.
The American Revolution may have seemed like anarchy at the time, but it did develop into a
constitutional republic that is now 240 years old. While France also went through some anarchical
times in the 1790 s, and did revert to a monarchy for a time, France is still around

Star Of David And The Menorah s Symbols
It seems that the earliest use of the symbol was in the form of a hexagram and used in many cultures
for decorative purposes that continued through the Middle Ages. Around the 17th century, the star was
found in Synagogue architecture in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe and was used by
Christians, Hindus, and Muslims at some point in time. The symbol gained more prominence when it
was chosen to appear on the flag at the First Zionist Congress in 1897. When the Zionists searched for
a symbol of their movement, they picked both the Star of David and the menorah, one for their flag,

Even their flags were without symbolism and writing of any kind. However, the symbol is in fact

  • 2. Neural Networks in Investments Essay example Neural Networks in Investments I. ABSTRACT Investment managers often find themselves overwhelmed with the large amount of data obtained from the financial markets. Most of the data available is numeric and noisy in nature, making the decision making process harder. These decisions usually rely on the integration of statistical measures that attempt to compress much of the data and qualitative depictions such as graphs and bar charts with news events and other pertinent information. The revolutionary aspect of neural networks is their ability to learn and trace the complex patterns and trends in data. Neural networks are made up of neurons and behave like the human brain, and has the ability to apply knowledge from past experience to new problems. Neural networks acquire this knowledge by training on a set of data. After the network has been trained and validated, the model may be applied to data it has not seen previously for prediction, classification, time series analysis or data segmentation. Unlike traditional statistical methods, neural networks do not require assumptions about the model form. Neural networks are more tolerant of imperfect data, such as the presence of missing values or other data quality problems. Neural networks perform better than traditional statistical methods when the model form is unknown or nonlinear, or when the problems are complex with highly inter related relationships. In a dynamic environment, neural networks are flexible tools and have the capacity to learn rapidly and change quickly. As the data values and outcomes change, the model quickly learns and adapts itself. Rule based systems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Often times there are couples that get married but have chosen not to stay with one another because of a difference in opinion, this is called divorce. Iroquois and divorce Often time s couples marry only to find out that they have a difference of opinion or one spouse has caused serious marital strain on the other. Since the Iroquois couples lived matrilineally, this makes it easier for the woman to dissolve the marriage, keep her children and continue to live at home with her family. If a woman no longer desired to be married to her husband, all she had to do was pack up her husband s belongings and leave them on the steps of the longhouse. When he came home, the husband would find them, realize his wife had terminated the marriage, and return to his home village and his own patrilineage. (Nowak, B. amp; Laird, P. 2010 chapter 4.5 Divorce) In the American culture it is more difficult to obtain a divorce. Americans and divorce Americans divorce for the same reasons the Iroquois divorced for however, in the American culture it is harder to divorce. Many times couples divorce because of infidelity of one or both of the spouses, or from irreconcilable differences. The waves that are critical to Big Wave surfing reached a record height as many of them reached 60 feet this year. In order for a competition to be considered an Eddie , the waves must be over 40 feet high and be sustainable all day. • 6. Persuasive Essay On Losing Weight According to the Center for Disease Control over 70% of adults over the age of 20 are overweight, and 38% of the population are classified as obese (cdc.gov). Every day we are sold by the idea of The magical cure all , some supplement or diet that will somehow fix every issue for you. The idea that we can literally change nothing about our lives and drop weight is seductive and tempting, but ultimately it s utterly false. At its most basic level, losing weight is a math issue and nothing more. There is no magical pill or supplement that will somehow make you burn all the extra calories you re intaking everyday. So, with that said we are left with one of two options; diet, or change your lifestyle. Dieting is defined as restricting oneself to small amounts or special kind of food in order to lose weight. Instantly with that definition you receive such a negative connotation to the idea of fat loss. The idea that a person has to Restrict themselves is almost offensive to the average adult, it simply implies that they have this supreme lack of willpower and have to force themselves into an uncomfortable position. In 2012 twenty billion dollars was spent in the weight loss industry, the average American will attempt to lose weight five times before any meaningful results (The weight loss industry by the numbers). • 7. How Planetary Differentiation Affected The Layers Of The... Have you ever wondered what the inside of the earth looks like? How it functions? How it was formed? Unit 2 has been all about the interior Earth. We learned many things like how planetary differentiation affected the layers of the earth. How people use seismic data to find the depth of the layers. And what convection currents from inside the earth, create. We learned about the interior Earth for Unit 2. Planetary differentiation happened when the Earth first formed. The formation of this planet generated heat from gravitational energy and the decay of radioactive elements. Scientists think that earth may have become so hot that it melted. Denser materials sank toward the center, forming Earths dense, iron core. Less dense material hardened over time to form Earth s outer layers the crust and mantle. Planetary differentiation created the layers of the Earth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We learned that in 4th grade. We went more in depth with that this year. There are two types of Crust; oceanic and continental. Oceanic is thinner and is mostly made of out basalt. Continental crust is mostly made out of granite. This layer drifts slowly and is solid. The Earth has sub layers. The lithosphere is part of the crust and uppermost Mantle. Next down is the Asthenosphere, where all the tectonic plates are. Then the lowest part of the Mantle is called the Mesosphere. The Mantle is semi solid and has convection currents that move the tectonic plates. It contains more iron than the layer above. The outer core has convection currents that create the magnetic field. It s the swirly hot iron that really causes it. This is the only layer that is liquid. The inner core is solid because of the great pressure on it. It is extremely hot. The deeper you go the hotter it gets and iron increases. Two out of the four main layers have convection ... • 9. We Real Cool Gwendolyn Brooks Analysis We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of teenage rebellion. This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African American consciousness. During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever people gather and spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to its effects and often experience it because of shared experiences or they share the same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group has enough influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual is desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know that they are participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real Cool. However, many stations continued to take the funding even though they did not require it. The funding provided by the federal government was meant to temporarily help public broadcasting stations until they could become self sustaining, and stations such as PBS have proven that they are now much more than self sustaining. What does this mean? It means that we are not just paying taxes to help support stations in desperate need of the funding; it means that we are helping to pay for some greedy stations bills due to them being too lazy to pay from their own wallet. This is not only hurting our budgets, economy, and living conditions at home. This is also flowing money away from situations that are truly in dire need of the money. These situations would include community projects, poor hospitals, the homeless and hungry, disaster victims, and other minor, but significant tragedies. Some may argue that many stations are innocent and really use federal funding for its intended purpose, but does that mean that the cost is worth it? More money would be wasted on selfish penny pinchers over at PBS and other minor stations than anywhere else. So in the end it really doesn t seem worth it, it s just too big of a hassle and they can thank PBS for the funding cuts. But let us back track a bit now, what about broadcasting by radio? The Negative psychological effects of the police uniform on the Canadian Society The uniform worn by a police officer often psychologically embodies each individual s stereotypes about the officer s authority, status, and motivations. In this formal paper I will be exploring the cause of negative perceptions that Canadian minorities have on police uniforms. Introduction Most individuals can identify a police officer by their uniform, which subconsciously conveys power and authority. People in a presence of a police officer tend to hide or stop any illegal, deviant activities, because of the sudden worry of getting caught. Canada is a place of numerous cultures, and ethnicities that fused together to create a strong sense of multiculturalism, but depending on the background and social status of the individual the police uniform can deliver various emotions that can either be either positive or negative. To some citizens a sight of the police uniform can bring instant fear and anger, which can be triggering or traumatic for those who have experienced oppression (Kingsley,2017). These perceptions essentially create a stigma that has less favourable views of the police for the minority groups such as, the Aboriginal peoples, the LGBTQ community, and individuals that immigrated from other counties. Effect on Aboriginal Community Aboriginal peoples in Canada, have historically been and continue to be victims of political injustices which now characterize the Canadian Society. ... Employees Should Be Submitted For Permanent Layoff In this particular group project, we need to come up with a proposal and a decision on which two employees should be submitted for permanent layoff. It was painful decision who should go. As these approaches are painful to staff involved. Not only workers are laid off, but layers of management can be collapsed, resulting in new management structures. We must be careful with the decisions of layoffs, as it could lead to poor morale. Total of five employees have been assigned for our group proposal, and each employee has been given brief information about their background. As our group discussion took part, we all started to do our self evaluations about each employee using his/her background information. As we have decided all will be examined based on their performances. After the meeting it is imperative that decision reached on the persons to be laid off must be in writing and mailed confidentially to keep all information classified. As I read through each employee s background, I decided to specify their advantages and disadvantages by sorting them into pros and cons. I then evaluated and concluded my perspective of each individual. As we evaluated each employee, we collectively decided to let go of Donovan Taylor and Gabriella Santana. Some of the things we looked into before making the decision were the employees evaluations, education, experiences, and how they contributed to the company. History Of Air Assault Operations During The Korean War History of Air Assault The purpose behind my topic is to simply show a little insight to the beginnings and processes of how air assault operations came about. The importance aviation played from Korea through Vietnam and onto the complex battlefield that is being fought today. Throughout history we have seen what using aviation and specifically utility based aircraft in a role of something more deliberate such as aerial reconnaissance, troop transport, medevac and logistical missions can do for the ground force commander and become a combat multiplier. The military realized the importance of aviation during the Korean War due to terrain restrictions and the ability for men and equipment to move further and move faster to a location regardless of the terrain, a great asset when it comes to choosing between walking or flying. After Korea and the beginning of the Vietnam is really when air assault operations took off. The inception of the Air Cavalry in 1965 turned the tide in what we consider to be the foundation of air assault operations on a complex battlefield. One of these operations that will be pointed out in this paper is the battle of Ia Drang Valley which occurred in the fall of 1965 and was received as the first division air assault victory in recorded history. The scale in which that air assault took place was unprecedented and had never been seen before. Korea During the Korean War the Marines were using helicopters out of necessity because it wasn t ... This proves that he views the world in a primitive fashion, believing that the weak should suffer beneath the feet of the strong. He believes that the world is split into two. Due to the fact that General Zaroff believes he is one of the strong, he assumes that he is obligated to exterminate the weak. General Zaroff is convinced that killing humans is acceptable. He enjoys the thrill of killing humans as he once did for tigers, hinting tigers ceased to interest me some years ago. I exhausted their possibilities, you see. No thrill left in tigers, no real danger. I live for danger (page 5). Killing humans instead of animals provides him pleasure and he does it for entertainment purposes because they can reason, after a fashion (page 7). This shows that increasingly more children have to get by with only one parent, changing the way they may act later on in life. Natural Law Theory Vs Utilitarianism In this paper, I will argue that a combination of Natural Law Theory and Utilitarianism best captures what should be required in terms of respecting natural rights. One of the benefits of Utilitarianism is that it looks at what we ought to do, not must do, while keeping in mind the consequences of our actions. On the negative side, all consequences, short term and long term, must be considered, often making it very difficult to make the ultimately correct decision, since seeing the future is not a human attribute. Since Utilitarianism is mainly about what ought to be done, when what ought to be done is decided by the majority, and goes against what the minority believes to be right, the tyranny of the majority is pushed onto the minority. As an example, prior to the 1980 s it was common to smoke in public, at work, and in restaurants. American society s norms changed, and smoking was no longer approved of by the majority. The result was that millions of smokers, unable or unwilling to quit, were forced to give up their freedom of smoking. While argument that smoking is unhealthy is valid, smoking was acceptable for over 200 years in America.
