crucifixion lowering him into a tomb.
Two of the formal elements of this painting that reach out to the eye its shape and color. The shapes
used in this painting are dynamic. The positions of every person are moments in time. The people are

The dimensions 28 7/8 x 36 ¾ inches. This painting was created in the modern art period of post
impressionism.
Two formal art elements represented in this painting is line and color. The line is shown in this
painting organically with smooth brush strokes of the oil creating volume within the clouds and plants,
and even the wheat on the foreground. These lines are smooth and flowing through out the painting
creating movement.
The color is shown in this painting as an analogous color scheme of blues, greens, and yellow tones.
These colors represent the land very well and do not need any other colors to bring out the subject
matter of the landscape.
Two design principles represented in this painting are movement and rhythm. Movement is
represented in this painting by the flowing lines. Circular lines in the sky represent the wind and
clouds moving through the sky. The movement gives the viewer a sense of free flowing movement of
air through the wheat.
Rhythm is shown in this painting by the repeat of the lines through the tree, bushes, and even wheat to
show the flowing of wind through the plants. The repeated colors of green and yellow give the feeling
of the organized movement this gives the emotion of happiness and care

What Is Hans Denck Concerning True Love
Concerning True Love This work is written by Hans Denck in 1527 and it serves like a mystical, yet
systematic description of certain Anabaptist beliefs. Firstly, he speaks of how love, true love, is a
spiritual gift with God being the perfect example of love in Jesus Christ. No one, Denck says, can love
or even know love without first accepting Christ into their hearts. Denck also utilizes his theory of
love to explain what is meant by the new law or new covenant in Scripture. While followers of God
were once chained by the Law, Christians are now liberated from the Law because of Christ s death
and resurrection. Also, Denck shows his colors as an Anabaptist by backing the stance that baptism is

He takes up the cause of economic selflessness of Christians, mainly saying that it is extremely
lacking. In order to fully serve Christ, Walpot declares, one must completely give up all worldly
possessions. He even says that the concept of private property is not of God. Walpot also warns
Christians of the dangers of greed and the consequences that can occur if one succumbs to that
temptation. Above all, Christians are to help others in community by sharing everything that they
have. If they would simply do that, there would be no

Niki Caro s Techniques In Whale Rider
In the prominent historical movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, she wished to convey the
immensely significant idea that anybody should be able to be a leader, male or not. She wanted people
to realise all of the females that ve been misused in this society because they are not good enough for
power roles. Caro used a variety of techniques to help the reader understand this idea. These include:
Voice over, close up shot and dialogue. The significant idea in this movie that anybody should be able
to be a leader, male or not, that means that the leader should not necessarily have to be a male it can be
a female too, because females are equally competent and can be just as proficient at being a leader as
males can. For example, in this movie 12 year old Paikea Apirana was far from what he Grandfather,
Koro Apirana, wanted for a leader for his traditional Māori tribe (Ngati Konohi) because of one thing,
she was a girl. She would be a perfect leader, she was smart, charismatic, determined, courageous,
fluent in Te Reo Māori and strong. These attributes are present throughout the story and is displayed in
many different scenes in the movie. But just because of the simple fact that she is born female she is
constrained with her opportunities. One of the first techniques ... Show more content on

The War Of 1812 And The Civil War
The Antebellum period is known as the period before the Civil War. However, it is described as the
periods between the War of 1812 and the Civil War. The word e antebellum, means before the war,
and reform, means the improvement of what is wrong. The Antebellum period made transportation
more efficient for people who traveled. The Transportation Revolution provided several new, reliable,
safe and cost effective ways to travel to different parts of the nation, including new land in the west.
The transportation Revolution changed America by new types of transportation, economic growth,
expansion, and factory system growth. Roads and canals will shorten distances, effortless way to get
somewhere, and facilitate commercial and personal communication. The first roads in America were
developed by early settlers. The National Road was the first highway built entirely with federal funds.
The road was authorized by Congress in 1806 during the Jefferson Administration ( The National
Road par. 1). The first 10 miles of roads were built. Wagons were slow and very difficult to use on dirt
roads because of the weather. In 1811, the federal government opened the national road connecting
Cumberland, Maryland to Ohio River. Road improvements may have made it possible for more people
to live in a specific area, because access between that area and major job location centers is facilitated
by the improved roads. Around 1821, there was around 4,000 turmpikes and private roads that

living conditions (World Bank). The rationale behind the large loan is the boost in temporary
employment, the importance of using municipal government agents, and overall implementing
structural changes that in turn would transform the state of Gabon in the long run. Other actions that
have been taken include implementing social safety nets as a form of addressing the poverty
associated with inequality. Programs such as Carte d indigent only focused on short term transfers
such as free medicine, food, family allowance, and cash in order to temporarily reduce the number of
those under the poverty line (World Bank PRE). Unfortunately, these transfers were solely dependent
on government funding and the shrinking social budget made the program practically worthless today.
An emphasis can also be placed on the roots of inequality; poor governance with faulty transparency
and a regime with various ties to privileged inner circles in France and domestically, leads the World
Bank to classify Gabon as a rent based economy (World Bank PRE). The emphasis on rent denotes the
importance of how much inequality actually influence the economy in Gabon, especially when those
additional profits come from manipulation of the rules and institutions to begin with. It is also
important to note that the distinctions between urban and rural poverty have yet to be officially
documented through an effective survey or metric. The reality is that a significant majority of Gabon

Essay on Personal Narrative- Fear of Technology
Personal Narrative Fear of Technology
My grandmum spoke for us all that Christmas when she opened her gift from my aunt and uncle. She
only half unwrapped the box before launching it at my father across the room, crabbing Now what in
the hell am I supposed to do with THIS? She proceeded to sulk, the way only my eighty year old gram
can, arms crossed, lips pursed, but laughing the whole time despite herself.
My aunt and uncle had done the extreme disservice of buying my gram an answering machine. Yes,
the woman who once told my sister that she never leaves my sister messages because they never give
you enough time before that little beep was now the proud owner of one of those damn things.

I m sorry, but I can t work under these conditions, at which point it would sprout legs and leave us,
sputtering in the middle of the kitchen, chicken defrosting in our fingers.
The microwave has moved three times with us, each time taking a little while to fit into its niche in
our kitchens, like an old dog learning new ground. It has transformed from the new flashy thing in the
kitchen (hated and scorned by the blender, oblivious to the food processors of the future) into the elder
statesman of our appliances. Not all of its faculties are what they used to be. The light bulb burned out
sometime during the Bush administration, and since the time of my high school graduation in 1995, it
has sounded more like a military air strike than a reheating machine for macaroni and cheese.
But have we gotten rid of it? Have we upgraded? Yes, but with tears, fears, and the overwhelming idea
that because the microwave had not died, but simply ceased to function at full capacity, we were
replacing a thing that has been respected and feared for nearly twenty years.
In my mother s eyes, we may as well have bought a new grandma.
But we all know that it s for the best, or at least that s what we keep telling ourselves. Besides, the old
microwave has gone to the break room of my dad s workplace (we keep telling ourselves, greener
pastures, greener pastures ) and the new microwave is so high tech it could raise your children for you,
but at the same time it s so easy to use

Question: What is the effect of water exposure on the time it takes for the beads to change colour?
Hypothesis: IV: Water Exposure (mm) DV: Colour Change (secs) Relationship: Increase Decrease
Reason: More exposure to water will wash off sunscreen Hypothesis Statement: An increase of water
exposure will decrease the amount of time it takes for the beads to change colour because the more
time they soak in the water, the more the sunscreen is able to wash away, making the beads of less

If we ask why our social evolution has become so maladaptive, we come immediately upon the key
influence of mass advertising. From an early age, we are bombarded by powerful imagery, deployed
through a hypnotic medium, television, that bypasses conscious filters to directly influence our
subconscious mind. The vivid imagery of television and movies create a seamless virtual reality that
programs our collective nervous system. From America to China, consumerism has become an
organizing principle for billions of peoples lives.
Zen Buddhist philosopher David R. Loy states:
Consumerism requires and develops a sense of our own impoverishment. By manipulating the
gnawing sense of lack that haunts our insecure sense of self, the attention economy insinuates its basic
message deep into our awareness: the solution to any discomfort we might have is consumption.
Needless to say, this all pervasive conditioning is incompatible with the liberative path of Buddhism.
Consumption has replaced religion and citizenship as the way we participate in society. It is one of 4
Megaphenomena that have spiked in intensity over the last century, combining to create
unprecedented danger for the biosphere. Population growth, carbon gas emissions and species
extinctions are the other three megaphenomena.
Fossil fuels will be exhausted within this century. The production

Tamalpais State Park Research Paper
Looming over Marin County and San Francisco, iconic Mount Tamalpais rises over 2500 feet almost
directly above the bay. Most of this mountain is a state park, and there are many miles of hiking and
biking trails. Remember that mountain biking got its start here, and most of the old fire roads are open
to both hikers and bikers. The good news is that, unlike many other biking areas, these bikers seem to
be considerate of hikers.
That was important on the summer day I picked to hike the summit. There are a number of trails
around the top of Mount Tamalpais State Park, and I was looking for something that would cover
some ground, offer some stunning views and get me to the top. One that offered what I wanted started

After just a few yards on the road, it split off again, the left for cars, the right for bikes and hikers. In
less than ten minutes I was standing at the parking lot, looking up at the Gardner Fire Lookout at the
summit. The .7 mile Verna Dunshee Trail, which I did not take, circles the base of the summit, and
there is a visitor center which is only open on weekends. There is also a restroom and a beverage
vending machine that would not take my money.
Too bad, as the water I brought was now warm. Another trail went up to the summit. It was paved with
wood at the bottom, which became wooded steps a bit further up, rather like a wooden escalator. There
was a handrail on this section. At the top of the steps, about a third of the way, the trail became narrow
and rocky, requiring careful footing. It was there I caught my first views of the other side of the
mountain, the West Peak and one of the park s several lakes which I believe was Lake Lagunitas far
below me.
This trail, only a third of a mile, would not be a difficult hike for someone who had not just hiked
almost four miles in the midday sun, but I could feel the fatigue as I hopped from rock to rock.
However the view at the top was well worth

The Permian-Triassic Period
Mesozoic Era:
The dinosaurs and the mammals appeared during the triassic period,Roughly 225 million years ago.
The dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago. The Mesozoic Era lasted about 180 million years,
and is divided into three periods, the Triassic, the Jurassic, and the Cretaceous.
The Mesozoic Era is an interval of geological time from about 252 to 66 million years ago. It is also
called the Age of Reptiles, a phrase introduced by the 19th century paleontologist Gideon Mantell .
The Permian Triassic boundary, at the start of the Mesozoic, is defined relative to a particular section
of sediment in Meishan, China, where a type of extinct, eel like creature known as a conodont first
appeared, according to the International commission on stratigraphy. Life and climate The Mesozoic
Era he Mesozoic Era began roughly around the time of the end Permian extinction, which wiped out
96 percent of marine life and 70 percent of all terrestrial species on the planet. Life slowly rebounded,
eventually giving way to a flourishing diversity of animals, from massive lizards to monstrous
dinosaurs.

Water Is The Most Precious Resource This Planet Has To

inefficiently and irresponsibly, one that takes more 42% humanity s accessible fresh water and wastes

an eternal drought, which could potentially cause an end to the human race. Agriculture is an industry

Similarly, even when the water does make it to the irrigation systems, much of it is also wasted due to
lazy field application methods. Sprinkler systems are installed to make work easier, but the amount of
water it spews out is not necessary, but farmers refuse to uninstall the systems because it brings
maximized growth to crops and thus increasing the amount of harvest. One may think that agricultural
water transportation isn t as defective as it may seem, as some of the water will drip down into the
underground aquifers, but what one doesn t know is that the water also drags dangerous agrichemicals
with it. More specifically, pesticides and insecticides can pollute the water in the underground
aquifers, making the water non potable and thus furthering water scarcity. A huge majority of water
used in the agricultural industry is wasted; a predicted 60%, but on the other hand, the one may argue
that through all these troubles, the food that is grown does go to use. This, however, is wrong, because
even when our food is grown or raised through the unnecessary, maximized water, huge quantities of
the food is wasted every single day.
Humanity has carelessly managed food production, thus wasting the massive quantities of water that
are used to grow crops and raise animals. First of all, the cultivation of thirsty, exotic plants that are

Chemistry and Technology in Biodiesel Essay
Chemistry and technology in biodiesel Biodiesel is a cleaner diesel fuel for diesel engines in many
types of vehicles. It is safer for the environment and is a cleaner version of diesel. It is made from
soybeans and other vegetation. It is made with a process called transesterification it seperates glycerin
from fat or oil and then methyl esters and glycerin is what is left over and used for the fuel. Biodiesel
had its origins with the invention of the diesel engine, as the diesel engine was designed to run on
Biodiesel. Rudolf Diesel was the inventor of the Diesel engine. He designed a single 3 m iron cylinder
with a flywheel at its base which ran on its own power for the first time in Augsburg, Germany on

A lot of the crops are home grown in the united states so, we wouldn t have to depend on other
countries for stuff to make fuels out of. Some draw backs to biodiesel is that it is more expensive to
produce than petroleum based diesel fuel, and can degrade rubber fuel lines on older engines and
reduces the life of the rubber lines. Biodiesel on a wider scale can turn crops into cash crops and
reduce the amount of crops for food. Most diesel engines can run off of biodiesel which means a lot of
vehicles wont have to be altered to use biodiesel instead of petroleum based diesel fuel. That means
they are easy to use but can sometimes be hard to find. Biodiesel affects society today, because big
businesses can use them to have greener vehicles and burn the fuel cleaner to help the environment
and can keep people from having respiratory problems because of the less pollution. It can also help
on the economy because you can use used vegetable oil from fast food restraunts. Therefore biodiesel
has pros and cons to it. It can cut down pollutions and the use of petroleum based diesel fuel, and the
dependence on other countries for petroleum. But also, it can be more expensive to produce and can
cut away at our crops for foods. These technological advances in fuel can help the environment and
reduce on pollutions which is a big deal these days. Petroleum is not a renewable resource, but this
organic vegetation is. Using a renewable resource for fuel

Essay about Capitalism in Marx and Weber
The Concept Of Capitalism In Marx And Weber; What Is The Contemporary Relevance Of Their
Ideas?
Introduction:
At the later nineteenth century many social and economical ideas were developed because of the past
revolutions and the present conflict of individuals and organised assemblies. Capitalism, one of these
ideas, leads bourgeoisie to dream of a capitalist society in order to advance their maintain lifestyle and
gain wealth. This economic system which is dominated by private business and the principles of
production are for profit works in side of the bourgeoisies. The employees, working to these
businesses, carry out the production but don t own it. They produce «commodities» as they are called

The ruling class increased at the expense of the subject class and a conflict of interest developed
between them. This can be demonstrated by Marx s view of the nature of ownership and production in
capitalist societies. According to Marx, in a capitalist economy, goods are the labour power; raw
materials and machinery used to produce them are given an economic value. The employer buys
labour power, Marx says: more accurately, I think, he buys the right to use the worker s powers for a
day . Also, he argued that capital was owned by the capitalist class which produced nothing and
gained its wealth from the exploitation of the mass of the population the labour.
Those who produced lost the control of the product of their labour and the process of production
(Marx). Marx developed the theory of alienation since he believed that workers through capitalism
were alienated. According to this, things that naturally belong together are separated and because of
some forces are not in harmony. In his writings he mostly referred to the alienation of people from
aspects of their human nature . His theory is based upon his observation that under capitalism in rising
industrial production, workers unavoidably lose control of their lives and selves because they can t
control their work. Consequently, workers never become autonomous. Alienation exists in capitalism
societies because in work each provides common wealth, but can only express this

Jeff. He was born and raised in Tennessee. He is six feet tall, weighs two hundred sixty seven
pounds,he has dark brown eyes, and such a nice smile. His hair is jet black with just a few silver and
white strands throughout. He is a very big and strong character of a man. And yet he is the most
gentle, kind and caring man that I have ever met. Jeff has a sexy southern drawl to his voice. The one
person who has influenced my life greatly is my husband, the first reason being because of his positive
attitude, his intelligence, and the way he expresses his love. Jeff is a person who can be friends with

complimented my attitude when it comes to my outlook on life. He is an ideal role model for anyone
that has met him. Jeff is one of the most gifted men that I have ever met. He displays his intelligence
throughout everyday endeavors in life. He is not only a book smart person, but he has more common
sense than anyone I have ever met. Anytime I ask him a question about something, he generally has
the acceptable answer. Jeff has given me the courage to believe in myself, even when I am faced with
a task that I doubt I can accomplish. He has taught me no matter what happens, to never just give up,
as long as I give everything my all, I will never be defeated. He is the most caring man that I have
ever known. He is the kind of person that would give you the shirt off of his back. He is such a loving
person when it comes to his kids. He teaches them lessons in life, which we feel there is not enough of
these days. When it comes to me, I could not ever feel more love than the love I feel from him. Jeff is
so much more to me than a husband, he is my best friend. He is one person who has influenced my life
in a positive manner. He has helped me to understand many people and things, that before I met him, I
would have given up on. I am amazed at his capabilities of understanding about anything from a math

The Impact Of Social Media And Its Impact On Society
It is proven that social media has had a huge impact on the way we live our daily lives. Not only has it
changed the way we go about our days, it has changed the way we communicate and interact with the
ones we care the most about. Social media has positively and negatively impacted our relationships
with others. The original intent of social network was to allow people to more readily stay connected
with friends and family (Qualman, 286). Yet, how regularly do we judge how much social media has
affected the way we interface with those that we are closest to? Social media has allowed us to
connect with more people in various parts of the world that we wouldn t necessarily meet on a week to
week basis. With the expansion in the number of contacts, we can observe that we have access to
numerous more thoughts and assets. It is a lot easier to meet people that have the same traits as you,
and it is shown when out of five couples meet online (Qualman, 274). Websites like E Harmony,
Tinder, and Match.com make it easier for single people to find other s online and communicate before
even meeting them. Social media has made it simpler to broaden your effective reach and grow it to
incorporate individuals you d get the chance to meet, or might want to know better. Many
relationships have flourished and grown into marriages because of these websites and apps and there
is a potential these certain people wouldn t have met without them. In the previous couple of years,

The GrandFathers of Video Games
From the classic plumber in the red jumpsuit to the first ever motion controlled console, the classic
and most iconic video game company have been revolutionising the world of entertainment since their
debut in the console market in 1983.
Nintendo was originally founded in 1889 as a Japanese playing card company by a man named
Fusajiro Yamauchi. A few years later, the company was not doing as well as they expected so they
decided to try out many different things such as becoming a taxi company, a hotel chain and even a

years later, the Game Boy was released and gained a massive amount of popularity and would be

In 1990 The Super Famicom was released in Japan and a year later in the west under the name Super
Nintendo Entertainment System . It was a successor to the NES and had 16 bit graphics compared to
the NES s 8 bit. At that time, Sega had rivalled against Nintendo their Sega Genesis as well as with
their mascots, Sonic against Mario. Throughout the same year, Nintendo had agreed with Sony to
make a console but the two did not see eye to eye which eventually led to Nintendo backing away
from the contract and five years later, The Sony Playstation was released.
Four months prior to the Sony s first console release, The Sega Saturn hit store shelves for a retail
price of 400$ with amazing new 3d graphics. Because the Saturn was announced and released way
earlier than video game developers had anticipated, it ended up lacking games upon release and
therefore did not end up selling well. In 1995, Sony would end up selling their

The Man With Talent Essay Essay
The Man with Talent
So many Coaches have talent and dedication for what they do. I m proud to play for one that has a
spectacular history of coaching. That coach is Dennis Lorio. Graduated from LSU (Louisiana State
University) with an economic degree and played baseball. I love the intensity and the relationship in
football Coach Lorio explaining with a passionate expression. I can see it in his eyes that he is very
dedicated and hardworking coach. As of now he is 62 years old and still willing to coach. It s not the
same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been addicted to me. I ve
been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time.
From the article of Sports Nola, Nick Kreugar wrote about Dennis Lorio:
He was offensive coordinator at East St. John for the past two years, but resigned for family reasons
last October. He is well known for his time at Thibodaux and led them to the inaugural 5A state
championship in 1991. Lorio also spent time as LSU offensive line coach from 1992 94 and returned
to Thibodaux in 2008 leading the Tigers to a 27 12 record with 5A state quarterfinal playoff runs in
2008 and 2009. He has a career coaching record of 105 70. (Sports Nola par. 2)
Even tough he lives in New Orleans, he drives an hour for his work every day. In 2013, Coach Lorio

longest Etruscan inscription on it, it seemed like a miracle. The stone was found underneath a temple

the top of the hill. This rock was found in the foundation of the temple, where the podium most likely

For a substrate to be converted into a product, enzymes must collide with a substrate and bind to its
active site. As the temperature increase, the number of collisions per unit time increases which in turn
increases the kinetic energy of the protein. This increases the chances of the substrate to successfully
collide with an enzyme. Thus the rate of the reaction will also increase. When the temperature gets too
high, the increase in Kinetic energy causes a lot of vibrations in the enzyme leading to the hydrogen
bonds breaking. The shape of the active site on the protein now changes. The enzyme s intra and
intermolecular bonds are broken causing the enzyme structure to denature (break down). (1) (3)
. Ionic interactions between positively and negatively charged amino acids hold enzymes together. The
ionization state of amino acids (acidic of basic) can be affected by a change in the pH in which the
enzymatic reaction occurs and are sensitive to hydrogen ion concentration. The majority of enzymes
function over a small pH range. When pH is altered the rate of enzyme reaction reduce considerably
and the balance between positively and negatively charged amino acids are shifted. Acidic amino
acids contain a carboxyl functional group in their side chains whereas basic amino acids contain an
amine functional group in their side chains. When ionization state of amino acids are altered the ionic

The Team Development Stages Of The Elected Team Leader
In the case 7, the elected team leader, Christine, was worried that her group will not be able to do on
the assigned project, since one member of the group did not fully complete the work (Schermerhorn,
Osborn, Uhl Bien, Hunt, 2012). In my opinion, Christine did not understand the team development
stages very well, thus she lost the control over her group. According to Shermerhorn et al. (2012),
there are 5 team development stages that each newly created team goes through: forming, storming
norming, performing and adjourning. During the initial forming stage, members of the formed team
are become acquainted with each other and discuss their strengths and weaknesses (Schermerhorn at
al., 2012). In my opinion, Christine knew a little about her teammates, since she described Diane
being a quiet, Janet reliable, Steve business oriented and Mike as a clown (Shermerhorn et al., 2012).
However, she did not recognize that Mike s personality is different from the other group members and
did not address this issue with anybody. In the second team development stage, storming, the newly
created teams have to deal with the stress in defining their roles and responsibilities for the tasks
(Shermerhorn et al., 2012). In my opinion, Christine s team never completed this stage. Mikes jokes
were understood as being uncooperative that created tension in the team and alienated him from the
team. According to Mackin (2011), as the tension rises during the storming stage, the participation and

The Concept Of Intrinsic Motivation Theory
In addition to Maslow s self actualization and moreover, there is self determination theory (SDT),
which suggests that people are motivated to grow and change by innate psychological needs. The
theory identifies three key psychological needs that are believed to be both innate and universal: the
needs for competence, connectedness and autonomy. The concept of intrinsic motivation plays an
important role in self determination theory. Psychologists Edward Deci and Richard Ryan developed
SDT and determined motivation to be that which people tend to be driven by; a need to grow and gain
fulfillment. The first consideration of self determination theory is that people are actively directed
toward growth, mastering challenges, and taking on new experiences, which are essential for
developing a cohesive sense of self. Explained further by Deci and Ryan (2002), SDT begins by
embracing the assumption that all individuals have natural, innate, and constructive tendencies to
develop an ever more elaborated and unified sense of self. That is, we assume people have a primary
propensity to forge interconnections among aspects of their own psyches as well as with other
individuals and groups in their social worlds.
SDT embodies a wide ranging outline for human motivation and personality. SDT articulates a meta
theory for framing motivational studies, a formal theory that defines intrinsic and a variety of extrinsic
motivations. Furthermore, SDT also focuses on how social and

Irish American Culture
My ethnic group is Irish American. I am very grateful to be an Irish American because I know the
sacrifice that my grandparents had to make to leave Ireland to come to America was a difficult but
beneficial sacrifice. Without both of their brave decisions to come to America, I would not be here
today. Both my grandma and grandpa came over to America as young adults but they did not know
one another. My grandma has three sisters, but only one of her sisters came to America with her, while
the other two sisters chose to stay in Ireland. My grandpa died before I was born thus I do not know
much about how he came to America. My family has strong cultures when it comes to our Irish
American heritage. The strongest culture in my family is the cooking of Irish food. My grandma often
makes her signature Irish soda bread, which is a family recipe that was passed down to me. I hope that
in the future I will make Irish soda bread for my children to continue on our culture. Although my
family always celebrates our culture, we celebrate being Irish Americans the most on St. Patrick s
Day. Every year for St. Patrick s Day my family makes authentic Irish cuisine. For breakfast, my
family makes potato pancakes, Irish bacon which is thick pieces of ham, black pudding, and bangers
which are thick sausages. My dinner, my family makes corned beef, braised red cabbage, and
potatoes. As my family gathers for St. Patrick s Day, there is always Gaelic music playing in the

Theatre Critique Of Friday Night Cafe s The Yellow Wallpaper
Theatre Critique of Tuesday Night Café s The Yellow Wallpaper
Even before taking their seats in the theatre the audience is transported into the constraining and
chaotic mind of our protagonist, Jane. Jane has been locked in in a room with yellow wallpaper by her
husband as treatment for her hysteria. Her hysteria is played by a nameless character beside her. In
combination with symbolic blocking, the set and décor of this production create the perfect
environment to capture the inner turmoil of Jane and her relationship with the madness.
One expects when walking past the doors of a theatre to encounter a stage and perhaps someplace to
sit. However, when walking through the theatre doors one is confronted by a fabric wall and a dark
hallway created by hanging pieces of yellow curtains and blankets stitched together with visible seams
and patterns overlapping haphazardly. The people you saw enter before you disappear and you re
confronted by the question of where to go next. You walk along the dark makeshift hallway until you
find an open wooden door, through which you finally see the stage and realize that you were only a
few feet away from it the entire time. This makes up the audience s first interaction with the The
Yellow Wallpaper.
This design choice was a seamless way to draw audiences into the story and the mindset of the
characters within the play. In surrounding the stage and audience with the yellow wallpaper the theatre
experience becomes more intimate.

A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man By James Joyce
From the very beginning of the novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a young man by James Joyce we meet
Stephen Dedalus. From there, we perceive the world exactly as Stephen perceives it. Through sounds,
smells, and sensations we learn everything that Stephen is learning and many times in incredibly
specific detail. Stephen s overly sensitive reactions and consistent use of imagery is proof to us that
Stephen is different and views the world from an artist s perspective. This uses of imagery and motifs
by James Joyce is used to describe how Stephen is able to interpret the world around him.
Furthermore, Joyce reveals this through the name of the main character. Joyce s ability to make stories
realistic was one of the reasons that he was such a tremendous success as a writer. Specifically, his use
of imagery to establish motifs and symbols to provide a consciousness flow throughout his work that
almost transports you into Stephens memories. If we can understand this imagery, then we can better
understand Stephen s life and the time and place he lived in. Stephen or Steven is a masculine first
name, derived from the Greek name Stephanos , in turn from the Greek word, meaning wreath, crown,
honor, reward , literary that which surrounds or encompasses and in Greek mythology, Daedalus was a
skillful craftsman and artist . The portrait of the artist as a young man is not a story about a portrait or
a piece of art by an artist but the artist himself. It is about the experiences and difficulties in his life
that lead him into finding his passion, his purpose and himself. Joyce also uses the name Stephen
Daedalus for his protagonist as a reference to the builder of the Cretan Labyrinth. As the story goes,
Daedalus, an architect, created a maze called the Labyrinth to house a half man, half bull upon the
Kings request. To keep the secret of the Labyrinth safe, the King imprisoned Daedalus and his son in
the Labyrinth too. Trying to escape Daedalus created two pairs of wings from feathers and wax which
he and his son used to fly from the island. His son, who did not heed his father s warning and took too
much pride in believing he had outsmarted the King. He flew too high into the sky and the wax melted

Moving Day Research Paper
Moving Day How will my young children feel about it? At some point in their lives, many families
face the prospect of moving to a new home. While a move may be stressful for adults, it can be even
more traumatic for children, as they are most likely not a part of the decision to move, and might not
understand it. Many children thrive on familiarity and routine, which a move severely disrupts.
Therefore, when considering a move, it is important to weigh the benefits against the comfort that
familiar surroundings provide a child. If your family has recently dealt with a major life change, such
as divorce or death, postponing a move to give young children time to adjust may be the best course of

The Biological Positivist Theory Of Criminology
A new paradigm, positivism, is present by the criminologists to understand the crime and the
behaviour of criminals, in which they are trying to explain biological and psychological effects on
crimes. The essential and primary thought behind biological positivist criminology is that criminals
are born criminals and not made to be by someone else, due the transfer of genes from parents to the
child; individuals turn to become criminals by their nature, not nurture. Cesare Lombroso, an Italian
physician and physiatrists concentrated on bodies of executed offenders with an end goal to decide
deductively whether lawbreakers were physically any unique in relation to non hoodlums. In 1876,
Lombroso distributed studies and illustrations from his classic study The Criminal Man specifying that
born criminals may have abnormality in their genes which will make them have related facial features
such as large jaws, high cheekbones, large canine teeth and sloping foreheads; his work focused on
biological factors of criminals.
Many vulnerable individuals perform or act according to the dominant norms of the society, however,
biological positivism specifies unlawful acts to be the cause of inherited characteristics. The biological
positivist theory of criminology consists of different concepts, mainly focusing on whether genetic
factors are influences to criminals and anti social behaviour. The first concept, biochemical
abnormality , designates abnormalities inside the organs and the

Why Was There a Struggle Between the Bourgeoisie and the...
Why, according to Marx and Engels in The Manifesto of the Communist Party, was there inevitably
struggle between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, which would create the preconditions for
socialism? ___________________
The theories of Karl Marx have influenced some of the world s greatest thinkers. Marx s idea of the
inevitable class struggle within capitalism and consequent place for a socialist society is professed
within The Manifesto of the Communist Party. It is necessary to explore why Marx and Engels
believed class conflict to be unavoidable in order to understand why the preconditions for socialism
could be established. It is clear that economics is at the heart of Marxist thought and it can be arguably
suggested that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nature of capitalism meant the bourgeoisie needed to exploit their workers in order to make a
surplus. If they didn t do this they would fall themselves into the proletariat and their employees
would work for someone who would. This made the situation of the proletariat all the more dire. Marx
expressed this view when he defined the proletariat as a class of labourers, who live only so long as
they find work, and who find work only so long as their labour increases capital (page 8). This meant
that the chances of a proletariat had to advance into a higher economic class were reduced and a
further polarisation of classes would develop. This meant that a class struggle was inevitable if one
views Marx s theory as one of group formation as is explored by Reinhard Bendix in his study of
Marx. Bendix suggests that in Marx s view ruling classes are aware of their common interests and
have the organizational means to promote them, while oppressed classes still seek to achieve class
consciousness and organizational cohesion. Hence due to a lack of class consciousness the proletariat
continue to struggle. This was inevitable, according to Bendix view of Marx, due to the nature of the
oppressed classes. A similar idea that causes inevitable class conflict mentioned again by Bendix is
that a lack of acquaintance and competing interests divided the workers amongst them selves.
Although all of them lived a starkly deprived life, their

Machiavelli s The Prince Analysis
Machiavelli s work The Prince is, evidently, a bit dated, but the concepts that it expresses have
remained significant to present day society, even when monarchies are no longer the primary form of
government. The Prince is substantially relevant to contemporary society in today s age because of its
relation to events such as North Korea, World War II, and more. First of all, Machiavelli illustrates on
p. 16 how important it is to create a foundation for a civilization: He who has not first laid his
foundations may be able . . . to lay them afterwards, but they will be laid with trouble to the architect
and danger to the building. This quote is relevant to history when considering the Constitution. The

Nazi Germany exemplify various strategies mentioned in the text. Machiavelli states on page __, Fear

three months old in both height and weight. My physicians and family were particularly concerned
because of how pivotal growth is at this point in an individual s life. The doctors and nurses tried
relentlessly to interpret what had happened and after nine months of running tests they found out that I
had renal tubular acidosis or RTA. RTA is a disease in the kidneys and affects the acidity levels in an

My decision for choosing nursing as a career is not only due to my own health concerns but also from
seeing and hearing the experiences of my cousin Chase. My cousin was diagnosed with stage 4
medistinial testicular cancer when he was 24 years old . This effected my family in an unimangible
way, not only for his own diagnosis but for the fact that this was the third cancer diagnosis within my
family in 4 years. Throughout the duration of his care and treatment the doctors and nurses were able
to help not only him but also my family in a way that I ve never seen before. From my grandfather and
Chase being admitted into the hospital at the same time and allowing them to be in rooms close to
each other to allowing his sister Katrina stay overnight with him on occasions. As Chase s cancer
progressed and he moved to different areas in the hospital and to other hospitals his doctors and nurses
would continuely check in on him and the rest of my family, even going as far as attending his funeral
and giving a supporting shoulder to my

This painting was created in the modern art period of post impressionism. Two formal art elements represented in this painting is line and color. The line is shown in this painting organically with smooth brush strokes of the oil creating volume within the clouds and plants, and even the wheat on the foreground. These lines are smooth and flowing through out the painting creating movement. The color is shown in this painting as an analogous color scheme of blues, greens, and yellow tones. These colors represent the land very well and do not need any other colors to bring out the subject matter of the landscape. Two design principles represented in this painting are movement and rhythm. Movement is represented in this painting by the flowing lines. Circular lines in the sky represent the wind and clouds moving through the sky. The movement gives the viewer a sense of free flowing movement of air through the wheat. Rhythm is shown in this painting by the repeat of the lines through the tree, bushes, and even wheat to show the flowing of wind through the plants. The repeated colors of green and yellow give the feeling of the organized movement this gives the emotion of happiness and care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is Hans Denck Concerning True Love Concerning True Love This work is written by Hans Denck in 1527 and it serves like a mystical, yet systematic description of certain Anabaptist beliefs. Firstly, he speaks of how love, true love, is a spiritual gift with God being the perfect example of love in Jesus Christ. No one, Denck says, can love or even know love without first accepting Christ into their hearts. Denck also utilizes his theory of love to explain what is meant by the new law or new covenant in Scripture. While followers of God were once chained by the Law, Christians are now liberated from the Law because of Christ s death and resurrection. Also, Denck shows his colors as an Anabaptist by backing the stance that baptism is not for infants, but for mature believers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He takes up the cause of economic selflessness of Christians, mainly saying that it is extremely lacking. In order to fully serve Christ, Walpot declares, one must completely give up all worldly possessions. He even says that the concept of private property is not of God. Walpot also warns Christians of the dangers of greed and the consequences that can occur if one succumbs to that temptation. • 4. Niki Caro s Techniques In Whale Rider In the prominent historical movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, she wished to convey the immensely significant idea that anybody should be able to be a leader, male or not. She wanted people to realise all of the females that ve been misused in this society because they are not good enough for power roles. Caro used a variety of techniques to help the reader understand this idea. These include: Voice over, close up shot and dialogue. The significant idea in this movie that anybody should be able to be a leader, male or not, that means that the leader should not necessarily have to be a male it can be a female too, because females are equally competent and can be just as proficient at being a leader as males can. For example, in this movie 12 year old Paikea Apirana was far from what he Grandfather, Koro Apirana, wanted for a leader for his traditional Māori tribe (Ngati Konohi) because of one thing, she was a girl. She would be a perfect leader, she was smart, charismatic, determined, courageous, fluent in Te Reo Māori and strong. These attributes are present throughout the story and is displayed in many different scenes in the movie. But just because of the simple fact that she is born female she is constrained with her opportunities. One of the first techniques ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The War Of 1812 And The Civil War The Antebellum period is known as the period before the Civil War. However, it is described as the periods between the War of 1812 and the Civil War. The word e antebellum, means before the war, and reform, means the improvement of what is wrong. The Antebellum period made transportation more efficient for people who traveled. The Transportation Revolution provided several new, reliable, safe and cost effective ways to travel to different parts of the nation, including new land in the west. The transportation Revolution changed America by new types of transportation, economic growth, expansion, and factory system growth. Roads and canals will shorten distances, effortless way to get somewhere, and facilitate commercial and personal communication. The first roads in America were developed by early settlers. The National Road was the first highway built entirely with federal funds. The road was authorized by Congress in 1806 during the Jefferson Administration ( The National Road par. 1). The first 10 miles of roads were built. Wagons were slow and very difficult to use on dirt roads because of the weather. In 1811, the federal government opened the national road connecting Cumberland, Maryland to Ohio River. Road improvements may have made it possible for more people to live in a specific area, because access between that area and major job location centers is facilitated by the improved roads. Around 1821, there was around 4,000 turmpikes and private roads that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Living Conditions ( World Bank ) living conditions (World Bank). The rationale behind the large loan is the boost in temporary employment, the importance of using municipal government agents, and overall implementing structural changes that in turn would transform the state of Gabon in the long run. Other actions that have been taken include implementing social safety nets as a form of addressing the poverty associated with inequality. Programs such as Carte d indigent only focused on short term transfers such as free medicine, food, family allowance, and cash in order to temporarily reduce the number of those under the poverty line (World Bank PRE). Unfortunately, these transfers were solely dependent on government funding and the shrinking social budget made the program practically worthless today. An emphasis can also be placed on the roots of inequality; poor governance with faulty transparency and a regime with various ties to privileged inner circles in France and domestically, leads the World Bank to classify Gabon as a rent based economy (World Bank PRE). The emphasis on rent denotes the importance of how much inequality actually influence the economy in Gabon, especially when those additional profits come from manipulation of the rules and institutions to begin with. It is also important to note that the distinctions between urban and rural poverty have yet to be officially documented through an effective survey or metric. The reality is that a significant majority of Gabon does reside in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She only half unwrapped the box before launching it at my father across the room, crabbing Now what in the hell am I supposed to do with THIS? She proceeded to sulk, the way only my eighty year old gram can, arms crossed, lips pursed, but laughing the whole time despite herself. My aunt and uncle had done the extreme disservice of buying my gram an answering machine. I m sorry, but I can t work under these conditions, at which point it would sprout legs and leave us, sputtering in the middle of the kitchen, chicken defrosting in our fingers. The microwave has moved three times with us, each time taking a little while to fit into its niche in our kitchens, like an old dog learning new ground. It has transformed from the new flashy thing in the kitchen (hated and scorned by the blender, oblivious to the food processors of the future) into the elder statesman of our appliances. Not all of its faculties are what they used to be. The light bulb burned out sometime during the Bush administration, and since the time of my high school graduation in 1995, it has sounded more like a military air strike than a reheating machine for macaroni and cheese. But have we gotten rid of it? Have we upgraded? Yes, but with tears, fears, and the overwhelming idea that because the microwave had not died, but simply ceased to function at full capacity, we were replacing a thing that has been respected and feared for nearly twenty years. In my mother s eyes, we may as well have bought a new grandma. But we all know that it s for the best, or at least that s what we keep telling ourselves. Besides, the old microwave has gone to the break room of my dad s workplace (we keep telling ourselves, greener pastures, greener pastures ) and the new microwave is so high tech it could raise your children for you, but at the same time it s so easy to use ... Hypothesis: IV: Water Exposure (mm) DV: Colour Change (secs) Relationship: Increase Decrease Reason: More exposure to water will wash off sunscreen Hypothesis Statement: An increase of water exposure will decrease the amount of time it takes for the beads to change colour because the more time they soak in the water, the more the sunscreen is able to wash away, making the beads of less protection from the UV rays. If we ask why our social evolution has become so maladaptive, we come immediately upon the key influence of mass advertising. From an early age, we are bombarded by powerful imagery, deployed through a hypnotic medium, television, that bypasses conscious filters to directly influence our subconscious mind. The vivid imagery of television and movies create a seamless virtual reality that programs our collective nervous system. From America to China, consumerism has become an organizing principle for billions of peoples lives. Zen Buddhist philosopher David R. Loy states: Consumerism requires and develops a sense of our own impoverishment. By manipulating the gnawing sense of lack that haunts our insecure sense of self, the attention economy insinuates its basic message deep into our awareness: the solution to any discomfort we might have is consumption. Needless to say, this all pervasive conditioning is incompatible with the liberative path of Buddhism. Consumption has replaced religion and citizenship as the way we participate in society. It is one of 4 Megaphenomena that have spiked in intensity over the last century, combining to create unprecedented danger for the biosphere. Population growth, carbon gas emissions and species extinctions are the other three megaphenomena. Fossil fuels will be exhausted within this century. The production ... Most of this mountain is a state park, and there are many miles of hiking and biking trails. Remember that mountain biking got its start here, and most of the old fire roads are open to both hikers and bikers. The good news is that, unlike many other biking areas, these bikers seem to be considerate of hikers. That was important on the summer day I picked to hike the summit. There are a number of trails around the top of Mount Tamalpais State Park, and I was looking for something that would cover some ground, offer some stunning views and get me to the top. One that offered what I wanted started out at a trailhead parking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After just a few yards on the road, it split off again, the left for cars, the right for bikes and hikers. In less than ten minutes I was standing at the parking lot, looking up at the Gardner Fire Lookout at the summit. The .7 mile Verna Dunshee Trail, which I did not take, circles the base of the summit, and there is a visitor center which is only open on weekends. There is also a restroom and a beverage vending machine that would not take my money. Too bad, as the water I brought was now warm. Another trail went up to the summit. It was paved with wood at the bottom, which became wooded steps a bit further up, rather like a wooden escalator. There was a handrail on this section. At the top of the steps, about a third of the way, the trail became narrow and rocky, requiring careful footing. It was there I caught my first views of the other side of the mountain, the West Peak and one of the park s several lakes which I believe was Lake Lagunitas far below me. This trail, only a third of a mile, would not be a difficult hike for someone who had not just hiked almost four miles in the midday sun, but I could feel the fatigue as I hopped from rock to rock. One may think that agricultural water transportation isn t as defective as it may seem, as some of the water will drip down into the underground aquifers, but what one doesn t know is that the water also drags dangerous agrichemicals with it. More specifically, pesticides and insecticides can pollute the water in the underground aquifers, making the water non potable and thus furthering water scarcity. A huge majority of water used in the agricultural industry is wasted; a predicted 60%, but on the other hand, the one may argue that through all these troubles, the food that is grown does go to use. It is safer for the environment and is a cleaner version of diesel. It is made from soybeans and other vegetation. Biodiesel had its origins with the invention of the diesel engine, as the diesel engine was designed to run on Biodiesel. Rudolf Diesel was the inventor of the Diesel engine. Some draw backs to biodiesel is that it is more expensive to produce than petroleum based diesel fuel, and can degrade rubber fuel lines on older engines and reduces the life of the rubber lines. Biodiesel on a wider scale can turn crops into cash crops and reduce the amount of crops for food. Most diesel engines can run off of biodiesel which means a lot of vehicles wont have to be altered to use biodiesel instead of petroleum based diesel fuel. That means they are easy to use but can sometimes be hard to find. Biodiesel affects society today, because big businesses can use them to have greener vehicles and burn the fuel cleaner to help the environment and can keep people from having respiratory problems because of the less pollution. It can also help on the economy because you can use used vegetable oil from fast food restraunts. Therefore biodiesel has pros and cons to it. This can be demonstrated by Marx s view of the nature of ownership and production in capitalist societies. According to Marx, in a capitalist economy, goods are the labour power; raw materials and machinery used to produce them are given an economic value. The employer buys labour power, Marx says: more accurately, I think, he buys the right to use the worker s powers for a day . Also, he argued that capital was owned by the capitalist class which produced nothing and gained its wealth from the exploitation of the mass of the population the labour. Those who produced lost the control of the product of their labour and the process of production (Marx). Marx developed the theory of alienation since he believed that workers through capitalism were alienated. According to this, things that naturally belong together are separated and because of some forces are not in harmony. In his writings he mostly referred to the alienation of people from aspects of their human nature . His theory is based upon his observation that under capitalism in rising industrial production, workers unavoidably lose control of their lives and selves because they can t control their work. As the temperature increase, the number of collisions per unit time increases which in turn increases the kinetic energy of the protein. This increases the chances of the substrate to successfully collide with an enzyme. Thus the rate of the reaction will also increase. When the temperature gets too high, the increase in Kinetic energy causes a lot of vibrations in the enzyme leading to the hydrogen bonds breaking. The shape of the active site on the protein now changes. The enzyme s intra and intermolecular bonds are broken causing the enzyme structure to denature (break down). (1) (3) . • 27. The Concept Of Intrinsic Motivation Theory In addition to Maslow s self actualization and moreover, there is self determination theory (SDT), which suggests that people are motivated to grow and change by innate psychological needs. The theory identifies three key psychological needs that are believed to be both innate and universal: the needs for competence, connectedness and autonomy. The concept of intrinsic motivation plays an important role in self determination theory. Psychologists Edward Deci and Richard Ryan developed SDT and determined motivation to be that which people tend to be driven by; a need to grow and gain fulfillment. The first consideration of self determination theory is that people are actively directed toward growth, mastering challenges, and taking on new experiences, which are essential for developing a cohesive sense of self. Explained further by Deci and Ryan (2002), SDT begins by embracing the assumption that all individuals have natural, innate, and constructive tendencies to develop an ever more elaborated and unified sense of self. That is, we assume people have a primary propensity to forge interconnections among aspects of their own psyches as well as with other individuals and groups in their social worlds. SDT embodies a wide ranging outline for human motivation and personality. SDT articulates a meta theory for framing motivational studies, a formal theory that defines intrinsic and a variety of extrinsic motivations. Furthermore, SDT also focuses on how social and ... The portrait of the artist as a young man is not a story about a portrait or a piece of art by an artist but the artist himself. It is about the experiences and difficulties in his life that lead him into finding his passion, his purpose and himself. Joyce also uses the name Stephen Daedalus for his protagonist as a reference to the builder of the Cretan Labyrinth. As the story goes, Daedalus, an architect, created a maze called the Labyrinth to house a half man, half bull upon the Kings request. To keep the secret of the Labyrinth safe, the King imprisoned Daedalus and his son in the Labyrinth too. Trying to escape Daedalus created two pairs of wings from feathers and wax which he and his son used to fly from the island. • 35. The Biological Positivist Theory Of Criminology A new paradigm, positivism, is present by the criminologists to understand the crime and the behaviour of criminals, in which they are trying to explain biological and psychological effects on crimes. The essential and primary thought behind biological positivist criminology is that criminals are born criminals and not made to be by someone else, due the transfer of genes from parents to the child; individuals turn to become criminals by their nature, not nurture. Cesare Lombroso, an Italian physician and physiatrists concentrated on bodies of executed offenders with an end goal to decide deductively whether lawbreakers were physically any unique in relation to non hoodlums. In 1876, Lombroso distributed studies and illustrations from his classic study The Criminal Man specifying that born criminals may have abnormality in their genes which will make them have related facial features such as large jaws, high cheekbones, large canine teeth and sloping foreheads; his work focused on biological factors of criminals. Many vulnerable individuals perform or act according to the dominant norms of the society, however, biological positivism specifies unlawful acts to be the cause of inherited characteristics. The biological positivist theory of criminology consists of different concepts, mainly focusing on whether genetic factors are influences to criminals and anti social behaviour. The first concept, biochemical abnormality , designates abnormalities inside the organs and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why, according to Marx and Engels in The Manifesto of the Communist Party, was there inevitably struggle between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, which would create the preconditions for socialism? ___________________ The theories of Karl Marx have influenced some of the world s greatest thinkers. Marx s idea of the inevitable class struggle within capitalism and consequent place for a socialist society is professed within The Manifesto of the Communist Party. It is necessary to explore why Marx and Engels believed class conflict to be unavoidable in order to understand why the preconditions for socialism could be established. It is clear that economics is at the heart of Marxist thought and it can be arguably suggested that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nature of capitalism meant the bourgeoisie needed to exploit their workers in order to make a surplus. If they didn t do this they would fall themselves into the proletariat and their employees would work for someone who would. This made the situation of the proletariat all the more dire. Marx expressed this view when he defined the proletariat as a class of labourers, who live only so long as they find work, and who find work only so long as their labour increases capital (page 8). This meant that the chances of a proletariat had to advance into a higher economic class were reduced and a further polarisation of classes would develop. This meant that a class struggle was inevitable if one views Marx s theory as one of group formation as is explored by Reinhard Bendix in his study of Marx. Bendix suggests that in Marx s view ruling classes are aware of their common interests and have the organizational means to promote them, while oppressed classes still seek to achieve class consciousness and organizational cohesion. Hence due to a lack of class consciousness the proletariat continue to struggle. This was inevitable, according to Bendix view of Marx, due to the nature of the oppressed classes. A similar idea that causes inevitable class conflict mentioned again by Bendix is that a lack of acquaintance and competing interests divided the workers amongst them selves. Machiavelli s The Prince Analysis Machiavelli s work The Prince is, evidently, a bit dated, but the concepts that it expresses have remained significant to present day society, even when monarchies are no longer the primary form of government. The Prince is substantially relevant to contemporary society in today s age because of its relation to events such as North Korea, World War II, and more. First of all, Machiavelli illustrates on p. 16 how important it is to create a foundation for a civilization: He who has not first laid his foundations may be able . . . to lay them afterwards, but they will be laid with trouble to the architect and danger to the building.
