Hepatic Portal Vein Obstruction ( Ehpvo )
Introduction: Extra hepatic portal vein obstruction (EHPVO), i.e., in the absence of liver cirrhosis or
abdominal cancer, is a rare manifestation of venous thrombosis that often leads to portal
hypertension1.After prothrombin, factor V, next most common cause of thrombophilia is high plasma
levels of coagulation factor VIII, which are present in approximately 20% of patients with deep vein
thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limbs and increase the risk of the disease in a dose dependent manner
2. Like fibrinogen, factor VIII is an acute phase reactant whose concentration rises in plasma in the
presence of inflammation. However, high factor VIII levels are associated with an increased risk of
DVT independently of the acute phase reaction3.
Case report: A 21 year old male in good health and with no significant past medical history presented
with abdominal pain for 2 months in epigastric and left hypochondrium. He is not on any drugs.
History of similar complaints in his younger sister and she died 2 years back without any evaluation. A
contrast enhanced computed tomography scan of the abdomen showed superior mesenteric vein
thrombosis with multiple collaterals in perigastric and porta hepatis. A coagulation profile work up
was done. His factor VIII activity concentration was found to be 260% of normal (normal: 60 150).

The Traditional Family In The 1950 s
Family is defined in many ways in this chapter, Dalton stated there are different forms as families.
Such as Nuclear family which is familial form consisting of a father, a mother and their children. He
also describes an extended family, a kin network that extend outside or beyond the nuclear family.
(Dalton 453, 455) the traditional family in the 1950s was a male known as the breadwinner, a female
housewife and their children (Dalton 455) unfortunately that is not the case today. It is sad to say that
the divorces have risen steeply since the 1950s, therefore breaking the families in half. Most marriages
end up in divorces now days, studies have shown that men are most likely to marry again, sadly
second marriages are most likely to fail as well (Coonts, 2010). Some families did not have children
they were known as empty nesters. As Dalton indicates that it was not uncommon or a married couple
to have a family with no children. It was not known as a traditional family but then again it was
existing. Back in the 1950s the traditional American family was the dominant model. Today that is not
the case about 61% of households have one or two people living in them (U.S. Census Bureau,
2013c). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Land Of Opportunity Analysis
America has long been viewed as a most interesting place, not composed of its own, but of people
from around the world, and a place where one can achieve their dreams. It is notable, however, that
America has also acquired the title The Land of Opportunity . So, gathering evidence from varying
sources, such as olden newspaper articles to modern day books on the topic, one might begin to
analyze how deserving America is of that title. As an introduction into the vastly explained conclusion
this piece comes to, taking into account what initial immigrants of varying nationalities came to
America for, and felt after, an analysis of the sort of national philosophy that is the American dream,
and the same of what the contemporary American view, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What should be made known is that America continually comes back from these hardships,
economically, and more importantly, mentally. Certain other countries have had the misfortune of
being in an economic limbo, whilst America has this seemingly natural ability to bypass that and
afford greater luxuries, such as stable economies, in reference to a cycle, of course. So, is to such a
place that has this type of economic safeguard any dream realizable? Evidently so Lastly, in video
form, comes the modern day interpretation of the American Dream, from everyday people, in an
economic situation similar to that of the environment in which Adams wrote his article, yet not as
severe as that. It should first be noted that the concept Adams spoke of, gaining a more grounded
sense of the world in times of economic hardship, is exactly what occurs in the video. Analyzed in the
video, it was stated that in times of moderate crisis, people begin to change their beliefs, those being in
this case their opinions of material wealth and how apparent such is in the American

##hol s Meaning Of Barbiturach, 1962 By Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol s work, Marilyn Diptych, 1962 is a depiction of an image of Marilyn Monroe who was a
famous actress as well as a sex symbol but had a dark ending, dying of barbiturate overdose. In this
work, Warhol captures both the life and tragic death of the superstar by recreating a publicity photo of
her. In the painting, the actress s face is portrayed fifty times, twenty five times in color on the right
and the same number of times in black and white on the left. One way to understand how this specific
work should be interpreted is by examining it as an expressionist theorist. To experience this work
properly I will act as an expressionist theorist and make sure to recognize my feelings transmitted as I
interpret the work, be aware of how it expresses emotion, and grasp the uniqueness of the work.
As an expressionist theorist, I recognize that the use of color can express the artist s emotion. Warhol
used a warm color mix of bright yellow, orange, and turquoise on the right section and a dull color
mix of black and white tints on the left. By using mixed media that represents a slow fade of the
photos towards the end, Warhol captures life s transition from the bright and youthful days when one
is full of energy to the tragic halt caused by death, which is also signified by the dull colors. Here, the
artist provides a form of experience of life and death that the viewer can relate to. The use of acrylic
on canvas and screen painting shows a transition in life from the

Disney Movie Research Paper
In my opinion Disney is one of the best things in the whole world! Disney makes everyone feel happy,
every single Disney movie has a lesson, and it s meant for all ages. Whether it s Disney World or a
movie, Disney never fails on bringing a smile on anyone s face. Disney movies always throw a couple
jokes that make everyone laugh, And along with that, Disney movies also have a lesson that always
gets you thinking. Therefore, I believe saying Disney makes everyone happy is quite fair to say. As I
mentioned previously, Disney movies always have a lesson along with the entertainment. For example
in the movie Beauty and the Beast the lesson t is to accept people for who they are on the inside, and
not the outside. Quoted by the narrator

The Pros And Cons Of California Contract Law
The contract is an agreement that is given the full force by the law. It has been further defined as
legally binding agreement between two or more parties negotiating and agreeing to a deal, under
which both of the sides are bounded by the terms of that agreement. In its nature, the contract is a
promise or set of the promises which is essentially commercial and is involving either sale or hire of
the commodities. Contract are the base for performing business, and the laws on this matter are clear

If you are like millions around the world, you may be frustrated with the state of the education system.
A system which leaves us in debt, grants degrees that do not guarantee jobs or happiness, earns us
only ordinary jobs that are not fulfilling; jobs where we survive instead of thrive. When I went to high

Think about the times we are concern about our weight and we wished we had been taught to exercise
and eat well, or times we are down and we wished to learn meditate to better control our emotions.
These are the real world problems that can really hold us back in life, and directly influence our
happiness and I thinks it is about the time to make these skills more accessible to everyone. The point
is, if someone wants to get good at math, then he studies math, or if he wants to get good at science,
he studies science and the same thing applies here. If you want to get good at relationships, you study
relationships, or if you want to get successful, then you need to study success. School is definitely
necessary, but it is not complete. Imagine an education that included the best of the current system, but
at the same time, teaches you how to have healthier relationships, be better lovers, a better parent, live
healthier, and not just live a successful life, but a deeply meaningful and fulfilled life.
Given these points, the big gap in our educational system today is the gap between what skills people
truly need to learn to live extraordinary lives and the amount of exposure they actually get to those
skills. There is a way to fill this gap. Science has proven that our minds have inevitable power to
shape our lives and our happiness. Whether it is intentionally or unwanted, our thoughts are actually

Food Changes In Ancient China
During Ancient China, some things were the same as they are today in present China. For example,
they still grow and eat foods like rice, shellfish, fruits, and onions. In addition to this, people eat foods
divided into yin and yang categories due to Taoism beliefs. Yin included foods that grew in the air. For
example, fruits that grew on trees like peaches, wine, and citrons. Yang foods were normally grown
underground. For instance, onion and garlic were yang foods that were grown underground. As time
goes on, usually there is change happening as well. This happens anywhere one goes. Whether there
are huge adjustments or small modifications, they are all differences. In China there were changes in
food production and farming.
By contrast of the foods that remained constant, there were practices in Ancient China that have been
improved. For example, when farming, human labor was needed. Furthermore, farming areas were
strictly limited by the natural environment. Also, there were problems of diverting floods and
irrigation. During the Spring and Autumn period (722 481 BC), two improvements in farming

Advantages And Disadvantages Of DC-AC Transverter
ABSTRACT
Now a days, the switching power supply market is flourishing quickly. The trend is for DC AC
converters with low cost, higher efficiency, power saving that enable maximum features. In this
project, a single stage three switch buck boost inverter is designed, where stepping up, stepping down
and inversion operation will takes place in single stage. This proposed inverter will overcome all the
drawbacks of traditional one. Coupled inductor plays a very important role in energy transfer and
eliminates the use of line frequency transformer. As the inverter having only three switches, the
controlling of switches also easier than conventional one. And it has also advantages like compact
design, reduced switching losses, component size, and cost. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Colonization Of The United States
Colonization in America has demonstrated all of the US history themes of exploration, encounter and
exchange in the Americas. From the beginning of colonization, in 1492 by Christopher Columbus, to
the establishment of the first American colony, Jamestown in 1607, and to the creation of the thirteen
colonies, there have been countless examples of exploration, encounter and exchange. The exploration
of vast waters and unchartered territory led to new and undiscovered land and America being
colonized. During this time of exploration, explorers encountered many new faces (including Native
Americans), crops, animals and even new lifestyles. In addition, with the increased encounters with
the explorers and Natives, there was a massive growth in exchange of goods between the Europeans
and the Natives in the Americas.
The Period of Colonization in America is widely debated, as to what years it is categorized within.
Some say it started as early as 30,000 years ago, the pre Columbus (before 1492) era, when the Asians
crossed the Bering Strait into Alaska. But there is very little written record before this time, so we don
t know much about life during this time period. Then the Vikings arrived in the year 1000. Many
believe that it started in 1492, when Columbus discovered America and landed in the Bahamas;
whereas others believe it started in 1512 when Ponce De Leon arrived in Florida (the first discovery
of, what is now, the US). The ending of this time period is even more in

Tawney s Essay Some Reflections Of A Soldier
Many people think that the absolute best way to relate to a relative or the best way to resolve internal
conflict, is through talking it out. In some cases this may have validity, but not in the case of veterans.
Family members inserting their assumptions and probing their returning loved ones is not only
prevalent today, but goes all the way back to World War I, and likely occurred before then as well.
While of course there is value in communication, many veterans do not want to talk about their
experiences, and shouldn t be forced to do so. They also should not have to explain themselves to
those who think they understand what is going on. My assertion is this: Family members should not
push their loved ones to talk about war, nor should they assume that they understand what they have
gone through. While recognizing that communication is valuable and that without talking the civilians
could never even begin to try to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

important assertions as to why civilians do not understand. He recognizes that the soldiers have
changed and that is partly why the civilians cannot understand, but he also presents the notion that the
civilians have changed where the soldiers have not (Tawney 22). Soldiers experience a great deal of
change while they are away at war, they experience things they cannot explain. The change inside the
civilians though, makes it even harder for them to understand these unexplainable things. The civilians
have formulated these ideas and images inside their heads of what they think the war is like. Whether
it be from the news, articles, books, or other outside sources they have read. By forming these images
and romanticized views of war, they are unable to comprehend what war actually is to those who have

Camp Bow Wow kept reinventing themselves. They kept up with future needs of pet owners and

single but those without children, women who love their pets and seem to treat their pets as their furry
children. According to the video, the owners and operators believed in their business, concept,
leadership, and service provided to customers. A local business that I am quite familiar with is Barro s
Pizzeria. While they do have three locations in California, there are 38 locations in the East Valley in
Arizona. This is a restaurant my family and I frequent on at least a monthly basis. This company has

Near-Death Experience Thesis
Neurological Basis of Near Death Experiences: A Qualitative Meta Analysis
The past decade has yielded a tremendous number of research focusing on the phenomenon known as
Near Death Experiences (NDE). Greyson (2000a) described near death experiences as:
Profound psychological events with transcendental and mystical elements, typically occurring to
individuals close to death or in situations of intense physical or emotional danger. The elements
include ineffability, a sense that the experience transcends personal ego, and an experience of union
with a divine or higher principle.
Incidence
The commonality of near death experiences in the general population has been a difficult question that
research has tried to answer, and one that still remains difficult to answer due to the different
methodology used among investigators (Blanke Dieguez, 2009). But one area that research agrees
upon is that neither gender, race, nor age are strong predicators of experiencing a near death
experience. There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

researchers eager to establish categorizing tools that could be used among scientists studying the
phenomenon. One of the first scales that tried to come up with a categorization system of near death
features was developed by Moody (1975). Moody collected 150 reports of near death experiences;
based off of this sample, he realized that many of the participants reported a variety of
phenomenological features. Using the features reported by participants, Moody identified 15 common

Essay Interpretations of American History
Interpretations of American History
The world is full of rich culture, diversity and experiences unique to each individual. When
determining the validity of historic accounts we must factor in that particular historian s point of view,
which should be characterized by ethnicity, idealogy, theoretical or methodological preference. With
these factors views of the past often vary from person to person. In this essay I will be discussing the
four different stages that shaped the writing of American history over the last 400 years.
According to Couvares, the writing of American history has passed through four stages: the
providential, the rationalist, the nationalist, and the professional. The providential stage took place

Bancroft believed that Anglo Saxons were racially destined to lead and spread freedom across the
globe. With the establishment of John Hopkins University, college education became more common
among middle class Americans, however only wealthy white men still only had access to that kind of
education. This new wave of historians insisted that knowledge of history and physics were of equal
importance.
The final stage of American history and progression according to Couvares, was the professional
stage. Professional scholars rose to prominence from 1910 1945. These historians believed that
modernity, industrialization, urbanization, and class conflict had fundamentally changed society.
Charles Beard argued that the constitution was not the product of wise men intent on balancing liberty
and order, but a clique of wealthy merchants and landowners who wanted a central government strong
enough to defend their privileges against the unruly masses. (Couvares 77 2). Beard also thought that
many of the major conflicts in society were between economic interest groups. Many critics found
flaws in his idealogy, but at the same time it inspired them to find answers to questions that plagued
the people.
Over the past 400 years, these historians all had different stances on how they thought to improve
society. With the mix of cultural backgrounds, and ethnicities no two viewpoints will ever be exactly
the same. Couvares

Dualism In Val Plumwood s Paths Beyond Human-Centeredness
Val Plumwood in her essay Paths Beyond Human Centeredness, illustrates the impact that humans
have on nature and non animals when it comes to preserving environments. Understanding that nature
has it s living properties that let it thrive among its resources allows for people to grasp the
complexities that come about when construction companies destroy the environment in which they
work. Plumwood uses the term dualism to refer to the sharp distinction between two classes of
individuals. There is the high class, which is considered as the One. In contrast, the other side of the
division consists of individuals that are classified as lower and are subordinates to the One as Others.
This account on dualism allows the reader to understand how humans can significantly alter the
environment because of the way they perceive its resources and inhabitants. Plumwood defines five
characteristics that illustrate the oppressive actions that change the connection between human
relations and the relationship between humans and nature. In any case, individuals within society
become oppressed as higher ranked groups control their lower class counterparts. The five
characteristics that pertain to human oppression become defined in Plumwood s essay as: radical
exclusion, homogenization, denial, incorporation, and instrumentalism. Radical exclusion refers to the
separating of men as the One and women as the Other. Furthermore, this term means that the qualities
of women become

women having a strain of HPV that ultimately leads to or increases the chance of cervical cancer is
highly relatable. What is pathophysiology, signs, symptoms, prevention, and treatments of this
ailment? You might ask will be covered in the next few pages of this paper.
Pathophysiology
There are several strains of the human papillomavirus the highest risk strains for cervical cancer are
HPV 16 and 18 those strains cause 70 percent of cervical cancer along with a few other high risk
strains. There are low risk strains that cause things such as common warts, which are seen on the skin,
or genital warts seen on the mucous membranes. For the purpose of this paper, we will only be
covering strains that can lead to cervical cancer. Transmission of HPV is fairly easy which may be
why it is so prominent in our society today. HPV is transmitted primarily by sexual activity but can
also occur due to prolonged exposure to things like skin to skin interaction, or wear of clothing that
has been chronically exposed to the virus. It is

Executive Summary
Pagoda.com, an internet service provider, needs to make a decision as to whether or not the company
should outsource its online help desk service to a firm in New Delhi, India. Pagoda.com caters to
individual consumers and small businesses who require a high level of service and are willing to pay a
premium for it. Pagoda.com offers state of the art email applications and web building software, as
well as plenty of storage space and fast access via its high speed servers. Pagoda s customers are more
concerned with the high quality service that they receive than they are with the costs associated with

Cons: Pagoda s current solution to handle the online help desk services in house is more expensive
than if they were to outsource this function. If Pagoda is not proactive in looking for new innovative
technological options for the company to consider, then they risk being eventually overtaken by a
competitor that has made more technological advancements.
Alternative 2: Pagoda can choose to outsource the online help desk service to the New Delhi firm and
hope that the transition is seamless and goes unnoticed to their customers. Outsourcing the online help
desk services will free up more time and money for Pagoda to put towards updating their equipment
software to ensure that they remain a state of art business, as well as staying ahead of their competitors
in the industry.
Pros: Pagoda will be able to realize a significant cost savings by outsourcing the online help desk
service while their customers continue to receive the same level of service. The IT industry is
continuously evolving and if Pagoda does not continue to research and apply new innovative
techniques, they may eventually be overtaken by a competitor who does the same thing cheaper and
faster. The money that Pagoda saves from outsourcing can be used towards additional research and
innovation for the company s future.
Cons: If the transition to the New Delhi firm is noticed by their customers, then Pagoda risks losing
their customer s trust by making these

This guidance can be used alongside the NHS Health Check programme, the national vascular risk
assessment and management programme for those aged 40 74. This is an integrated approach to
identifying and preventing four diseases: diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke and kidney disease
(NHS Health Check Programme, 2009). The programme is being rolled out throughout England. The
aim is to ensure everyone aged 40 74 who has not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions
is offered a risk assessment and given advice and support to help them reduce and manage that risk.

Barbaric Masculinity In Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange
A clockwork orange by Anthony Burgess is commonly(different verb) praised for shedding light on
Toxic masculinity even in 2018 when in fact perpetuates and even normalizes this toxic form of
masculinity. The form of barbaric violent masculinity alex portrays is just that, barbaric and violent to
men and women today. However a Clockwork orange almost inspires some to adopt this toxic
masculinity. Anthony Burgess tries to raise awareness for a reality he unknowingly inaugurates.
I cannot speak for the 1960 s or 1970 s when the book and movie were released, but in 2018 toxic
masculinity is neither common nor promoted in society. The type of masculinity promoted in modern
movies is a direct reflection of the values masculinity holds today.

An Essay On The First Principles Of Government Essay
The Alabama Senate recently voted in favor of Senate Bill 193, allowing Briarwood Presbyterian
Church to create its own police force (Blumberg). Briarwood Presbyterian now has the right to
appoint and employ one or more persons to act as police officers to protect the safety and integrity of
the church and its ministries (LegiScan). The protesters of the Bill see it as a violation of the
Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, which states the government may not pass any laws

The racialization of Latinos dates back to the 1800 s where the term greaser first came to be used
against those of Mexican appearance (Bender, 2003). The slur derived from longstanding conceptions
of Mexicans as unkempt and unclean, with unwashed, greasy black hair and it also referred Mexican
males as sexually threatening... to white women (Bender, 2003). Discrimination or racial profiling was
incredibly active that in 1855, the Vagrancy Act, known as the Greaser Act, was adopted by the

They are trying to blame the fast food industry for their obesity claiming that fast food is a major
contributor to the problem. Tying obesity directly to fast food is a much harder task than tobacco to
cancer, because there has not been any scientific research showing that fast food is the main cause or
that it is addictive. Obesity is thought to be the number one killer in America (Parks), but there are
many factors that contribute to the epidemic such as genetics, exercise routine, environment, illness,
prescriptions, diet, and emotional health.
Obesity leads to a number of diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure,
stroke, and certain types of cancer ( NIDDK ). Obesity in it self is a hard health problem for a person
to deal with, but some of these other diseases usually come along in association making the problem
even worse. Certain disease are related more to women than to men. Obese men are more likely than
non obese men to die from cancer of the colon, rectum, or prostate (NIDDK ). Scientific research is
making the cure for cancer easier, but there are still many cancer patients that doctors are unable to
treat. Obese women are more likely than non obese women to die from cancer of the gallbladder,

Federal Emergency Management Agency
For the past 35 years, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, commonly known as FEMA, has
been dedicated to preparing, protecting, responding and serving the American people following major
disasters and crisis. Effective on April 1, 1979 under President Jimmy Carter s administration and
funded through federal funding, FEMA has been committed to preparing, protecting, responding and
assisting in recovery efforts in the state as well as the local government during crisis and disasters.
Similarly to any agency, FEMA has faced many challenges when providing funding to victims and
survivors of disasters. Critics have criticized FEMA in their response to disasters. Prior to FEMA,
there was the Congressional Act of 1803. This Act was the first disaster legislation available to the
American people. The Act was able to provide the town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire with
assistance after an extensive fire swept through the town in 1802 (FEMA, 2010). Congress provided
the state and local governments with federal funding to rebuild after the disaster. Throughout the 19th
century, there were many extensive fires including one in New York City in 1835 and the Great
Chicago Fire of 1871 ( FEMA, 2010). These disasters caused Congress to ad hoc legislation to protect
and assist the survivors. The survivors were able to have their financial obligations temporarily

Using Scientific Inquiry Model in High School Biology
Rationale
In classrooms today, educators are constantly seeking and implementing engaging lessons that will
increase student knowledge and skills. The intent of the activities is to help students become
independent learners and use process thinking skills. Students seem to learn best by actually directing
their own learning and doing, rather than being led from step to step by the teacher. In science, it is
especially important that students learn by inquiry and use more of a hands on approach to learning
scientific concepts. According to Wilke and Straits (2005), inquiry based learning is where students
explore a problem using the processes and tools of the discipline. It is often shown in a way that
resembles the scientific method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Philosophy of Teaching
In society today, the world continues its expansion in diversity; therefore, teachers must accommodate
to fulfill the new developments of education. This diversity includes expanding educational
philosophies that truly benefit the future leaders of tomorrow. My personal educational philosophy is
one that comes from experiences as well as what I would like to see in my career as a teacher.
My belief as to the purpose of education includes many different aspects. The first is that schools
should promote students to be more independent, while encouraging one to also interact with society.
In my opinion, students are encouraged to be themselves and pursue their own individual interest
while still respecting the natural and understood laws of society. Next, a teacher should encourage
students to use various thinking methods compared to a simple means of problem solving by direct
instruction. Alberts (2008) states, What I mean by teaching science as inquiry is, at a minimum
allowing students to conceptualize a problem that was solved by a scientific discovery, and then
forcing them to wrestle with possible answers to the problem before they are told the answer. This
statement suggests that students are required to think

The Big Picture By Award Winning Authors That Offer Great...
The Big Picture is a book by award winning authors that offer great insight into the reason behind the
global economy crisis. The book offers insight into the ways in which one can navigate their way into
being successful economists where competition is stiff and the uncertainty of what the market could
be tomorrow are a serious challenge. The authors give a clear pathway on how consumers,
businessmen, federal reserves and the governments should take account of what is happening about
them in order to make critical decisions that they will not regret (Naroff Scherer, 2014). What is
assumed to be common sense is fundamentally different to those that takes keen interest in the global
economy and therefore individuals should take informed steps to cope with this. The book covers a
range of issues that are crucial in the global economy. One that is most noteworthy to me is the
Economic Theory and Fiscal and Monetary Policy. I think this is an outstanding issue because it
explains the monetary policies that the global market operates on and how they are co related (Tan,
2000). Some of the policies include the business cycle, taxation, bottom line recession balance of
debts and loans and budget policies and the stock exchange market. In my opinion, this is an important
issue as it cut across almost all aspect of the economy and decisions are made based on these
monetary policies. These policies explain the relationship between budget deficits and taxation. Most

Elements Of The Oxides Of Silicon Dioxide
Period 3 oxides: Examples of period 3 oxides: Na2O, MgO, Al2O3, SiO2, P4O10 The examples of the
oxides shown above are the highest oxides . These oxides have the highest oxidation state. The
melting point and boiling point for period 3 oxides is usually very high. This is because a large

oxides which are Magnesium, Sodium and Aluminium contain metallic and oxides ions. These
therefore have a strong attraction between each other. This strong attraction means a large amount of

Non metal oxides SiO2, P4O10, SO2 Silicon oxide (SiO2) is the highest non metal element. This is
because it has very strong bonds that require a large amount of energy to be broken and also silicon
oxide forms a giant macromolecular structure. P4O10 and SO2 are both simple covalent molecules
that have van der Waals forces between them. Period 3 chlorides: The melting point and boiling point
for chlorides cannot be defined. This is because each chloride works in a different way. Examples of
chlorides are sodium chloride and magnesium chloride. Both these chlorides are solid at room
temperature and pressure and also have relatively high melting and boiling points. Sodium chloride
and magnesium chloride both have very strong ionic bonds between them and therefore a large
amount of energy is required to break the strong ionic bonds to cause them to melt or even boil. The
remaining chlorides will have relatively low melting and boiling points and most of them will be
liquid at room temperature. The chlorides will have low melting and boiling points due to the weak
van der Waals forces present. The melting point usually increases when you go from the element
sodium to silicon however then starts to decrease when it gets to argon. The boiling point will usually

Management Plan for Salmon in Alaskan North Pacific Ecosystems
It comes as no surprise that salmon are one of the most sought after species of fish in the world for
human consumption. Because of this, heavy industry and markets have had a critical influence on the
salmon populations. Seventeen strains of Pacific salmon are currently listed as threatened or

By 2008, that figure had jumped to 5 billion. Because of the huge presence of hatchery salmon in
wild, the result is when hatchery bred fish return as adults and interbreed with wild salmon, they
produce offspring that are less hardy than their purely wild counterparts. Arguably the existence of
hatcheries is directly responsible for offsetting the salmon species composition of the entire North
Pacific. Economically, while fisheries immediately can be seen as generating a huge profit, extended
dependence and exploitation of fisheries can be incredibly distressing. In an effort to maximize the
yield of salmon, hatcheries are failing to see the ocean is an exhaustible resource. The North Pacific
Ocean is, at an alarming rate, nearing the limit of its salmon carrying capacity. (Peterson, 2008)
Because hatchery salmon are both outcompeting wild populations of salmon and simultaneously
causing genetic dilution by mating with wild populations, the fish that are being caught by fisherman,
at an alarming rate, are far less in quality than their wild counterparts. The reason why? Wild
populations often possess resistance to the parasites and diseases of their native streams that are not
found in the foreign hatchery salmon. In addition, the decreasing quality of salmon also negatively
influences recreational activities such as sport fishing, a valuable component of both the Alaskan
economy and the economies of the pacific north west. Millions

Small Beginnings
I always heard growing up, Great things can emerge from small beginnings . My mom made sure that
my 4 sisters and I know that. Being a child of two ministers, my family has experience working with
small businesses and ministries, for our church was small. Unfortunately, things did not work for our
church, so we had shut down. My family then attended Family Christian Center (FCC) in Munster,
Indiana. FCC is a mega church with fancy lighting, a ginormous stage, and large screens. The pastor
of the church had great illustrated messages.
I attended Two52 Youth Culture, FCC s youth ministry. There I met Sade. Everyone enjoyed her
company she always had a positive attitude. She helped those dealing with depression, substance
abuse, dysfunctional households and financial hardships the same problems she went through as a
teen. She led youth meetings on Tuesdays in which anyone can learn theater and dance. We would
meet in a cafeteria and have a brief bible study accompanied with short skits, then followed by snacks
and practice. Sade also wanted us to show our talent beyond Two52, so she started a pop out team. We
visited malls and danced amid the crowds. Johnny, a teen guitarist serenaded strangers while the rest

Black Belt Autobiography
As a dedicated student of the martial arts I live by the code of the black belt: modesty, courtesy,
integrity, self control and perseverance, SIR! For eight years I had to follow this creed thoroughly and
whole heartedly. When karate was first mentioned in my household, I was narrow minded and
pessimistic. The use of self defense and fighting seemed irrelevant to my naive and youthful life.
However even after what seemed to be a lifetime of complaints and arguments, my pressing parents
held their ground and I was forced to start my long and rewarding journey of becoming a black belt.
As the years passed I quickly learned that this form of art was not a system of punches and kicks, but
rather a structure of discipline and character.

British Contributions To The Revolutionary War
The British seemed unbeatable. Their military was one of the best in the world in the eighteenth
century. The British had a very well trained, disciplined, well paid, well fed and well equipped army.
Their army had a lot of money being passed to them by the English crown allowed them to be
financed and well prepared for any situation. The British navy even dominated the seas. On the other
side, their opponent, the Patriots didn t have more than a meager army. The Americans had shortages
of ammunition, food, clothing, blankets, and shoes from the difficulty of raising enough funds to
finance their necessities.Their army lacked basic training and discipline and they lacked a real navy on
the seas causing them to have no way to defend themselves on the coastlines. The British previously
had victory after victory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The colonies needed help from Europe in their war against Britain. France was Britain s rival and
hoped to weaken Britain by causing her to lose the American colonies. The French were persuaded to
support the colonists with a formal alliance when the heard about the news of the American victory at
the Battle of Saratoga. The treaty, known as the Treaty of Alliance, states that France is to aid America
in war, neither party should enter into a separate peace treaty with Great Britain and neither France nor
the United States would make peace with Britain until the the American independence was
recognized. In return, America promised to recognize French conquests of British land in the West
Indies. The French alliance brought navy supplies, more soldiers, money and the struggle for Britain
to fight against two counties. The alliance with the French gave Americans courage and a tangible
threat that helped tip the scales in America s favor. The French Generals Lafayette and Rochambeau,
their fleet and navy, were key participants at Yorktown and helped win the Americans victory over the

Vocal Fry Research Paper
The terms vocal fry and up talk are two ways to describe some teenagers talk now. Vocal fry means
when one talks like they are choking or out of breath. This frequently happens at the end of a sentence.
The definition of up talk is when one says a sentence with a question in there or answering a question
with a question. When one talks about up talk, some people automatically think about teenager girls.
People thinks it is annoying and do not understand why these girls talk in this way. However, teen
girls are actually not the only group of people who talk in that way. Up talk is something most people
do, and it is almost like a nature that humans have. The cause of people using up talk is when people
are not sure what they are talking about,

Examples Of Failure
Failure. The word reverberates in my head with each stride. Thud, failure. I turn my head and watch
helplessly as a runner in a black jersey and red shorts jets past me. Thud, failure. Why can t you move
faster? Thud, failure. How are they pulling away? Thud, failure. How is KADE almost behind you?
Thud, failure. Guilt pierces my chest with an icy blade and twists as my thoughts wash over me. How
could I let my team down? Failure resonates with every person. It seeps into our thoughts and draws
us into a place of doubt impairing our natural abilities and hard work. Yet failure is also what shapes
us and molds us into the people we are now. It bonds and unites every person together in a common
shared experience while also tearing us apart inside. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I let her down when she needed a friend. I wish that I could say that Krystle is the only relationship
that I have failed at, but she s just the tip of the iceberg. I have failed many people in my life and I ll
fail many more. I can t brush aside the memories of the people that I have failed. Like phantoms they
circle over me reminding me of my failures whenever the subject arises. I can t remember how many
races I have lost when I should have won, but I can still remember every person I have let down. It
would be a gross misrepresentation to classify both failures as the same. Each genre of failure has its
own series of effects unique to it. Reflecting on my life, I m struck by how much I still regret my
failures. Conceptually, I know that my failures had silver linings, yet I d still give anything to change
them. There is little solace in the knowledge that I won t fail the same way twice. The damage is done.
My cross country team never qualified for state and Krystle was abandoned when she needed help.
Perhaps the best we can hope to accomplish is to accept our failings and move

Hepatic Portal Vein Obstruction ( Ehpvo ) Introduction: Extra hepatic portal vein obstruction (EHPVO), i.e., in the absence of liver cirrhosis or abdominal cancer, is a rare manifestation of venous thrombosis that often leads to portal hypertension1.After prothrombin, factor V, next most common cause of thrombophilia is high plasma levels of coagulation factor VIII, which are present in approximately 20% of patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limbs and increase the risk of the disease in a dose dependent manner 2. Like fibrinogen, factor VIII is an acute phase reactant whose concentration rises in plasma in the presence of inflammation. However, high factor VIII levels are associated with an increased risk of DVT independently of the acute phase reaction3. Case report: A 21 year old male in good health and with no significant past medical history presented with abdominal pain for 2 months in epigastric and left hypochondrium. He is not on any drugs. History of similar complaints in his younger sister and she died 2 years back without any evaluation. A contrast enhanced computed tomography scan of the abdomen showed superior mesenteric vein thrombosis with multiple collaterals in perigastric and porta hepatis. A coagulation profile work up was done. His factor VIII activity concentration was found to be 260% of normal (normal: 60 150). Analyses for prothrombin O20210A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Traditional Family In The 1950 s Family is defined in many ways in this chapter, Dalton stated there are different forms as families. Such as Nuclear family which is familial form consisting of a father, a mother and their children. He also describes an extended family, a kin network that extend outside or beyond the nuclear family. (Dalton 453, 455) the traditional family in the 1950s was a male known as the breadwinner, a female housewife and their children (Dalton 455) unfortunately that is not the case today. It is sad to say that the divorces have risen steeply since the 1950s, therefore breaking the families in half. Most marriages end up in divorces now days, studies have shown that men are most likely to marry again, sadly second marriages are most likely to fail as well (Coonts, 2010). Some families did not have children they were known as empty nesters. As Dalton indicates that it was not uncommon or a married couple to have a family with no children. It was not known as a traditional family but then again it was existing. Back in the 1950s the traditional American family was the dominant model. Today that is not the case about 61% of households have one or two people living in them (U.S. Census Bureau, 2013c). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, gathering evidence from varying sources, such as olden newspaper articles to modern day books on the topic, one might begin to analyze how deserving America is of that title. So, is to such a place that has this type of economic safeguard any dream realizable? Evidently so Lastly, in video form, comes the modern day interpretation of the American Dream, from everyday people, in an economic situation similar to that of the environment in which Adams wrote his article, yet not as severe as that. • 5. ##hol s Meaning Of Barbiturach, 1962 By Andy Warhol Andy Warhol s work, Marilyn Diptych, 1962 is a depiction of an image of Marilyn Monroe who was a famous actress as well as a sex symbol but had a dark ending, dying of barbiturate overdose. In this work, Warhol captures both the life and tragic death of the superstar by recreating a publicity photo of her. In the painting, the actress s face is portrayed fifty times, twenty five times in color on the right and the same number of times in black and white on the left. One way to understand how this specific work should be interpreted is by examining it as an expressionist theorist. To experience this work properly I will act as an expressionist theorist and make sure to recognize my feelings transmitted as I interpret the work, be aware of how it expresses emotion, and grasp the uniqueness of the work. As an expressionist theorist, I recognize that the use of color can express the artist s emotion. Warhol used a warm color mix of bright yellow, orange, and turquoise on the right section and a dull color mix of black and white tints on the left. By using mixed media that represents a slow fade of the photos towards the end, Warhol captures life s transition from the bright and youthful days when one is full of energy to the tragic halt caused by death, which is also signified by the dull colors. Here, the artist provides a form of experience of life and death that the viewer can relate to. The use of acrylic on canvas and screen painting shows a transition in life from the ... The exploration of vast waters and unchartered territory led to new and undiscovered land and America being colonized. In some cases this may have validity, but not in the case of veterans. While of course there is value in communication, many veterans do not want to talk about their experiences, and shouldn t be forced to do so. They also should not have to explain themselves to those who think they understand what is going on.
