The Themes of Love and Loss in My Last Duchess, La Belle...
The Themes of Love and Loss in My Last Duchess, La Belle Dame Sans Merci, When we Two Parted,
and Villegiature
Works Cited Missing
The poems, My Last Duchess , La Belle Dame Sans Merci and When We Two Parted and Villegiature
by Robert Browning (1812 1889), John Keats (1795 1821), Lord Byron (1788 1824) and Edith Nesbit
(1858 1924) respectively, have all been written in the nineteenth century. All these poems deal with
the different aspects of love and the different attitudes of lovers towards their beloved, after parting or
during times away from each other (Villegiature).
Browning s My Last Duchess shows the possessive and dominant type of love where the Duke, who is

But, what people in such relationships fail to realise until it is too late is the downside to this sort of
relationship, not only for the dominated , but also for the dominating , as such an obsession with ruling
over another eventually led the Duke to murder his wife. Though most people would not have taken as
drastic a measure as the Duke, the poet probably uses such a negatively powerful result to emphasize
on the harmful aspects of such a relationship. Also, this poem follows a strict rhyme scheme and has a
conversational rhythm. It is written in iambic pentameter, which probably conveys the conflict within
himself between what he says and what he really is a murderer! Furthermore, this sort of communion
does not hold many positive aspects for the partner who lets himself/herself be controlled by the other
either. In La Belle Dame Sans Merci , the knight says, And that is why I sojourn here/Alone and palely
loitering/Though the sedge has wither d from the lake/And no birds sing , the sad condition of the
knight here emphasizes on the downbeat to this type of love and the sad, lonely image (from winter) is
used to create a greater impact on the reader.
This dominating type of affection

Discourse Community Research Paper
All great minds think alike, a common cliche we have all heard at some point or another, but is this
true? Well yes, some minds do think alike and, when they organize, we may call them a discourse
community. A discourse community is a specific collective that compares and converses. It is a
thought provoking group that promotes common ideas and benefits its members. Any true discourse
community can be identified by six necessary characteristics, as described by Swales. First, a
discourse community has a broadly agreed set of common public goals. Second, a discourse
community has mechanisms of intercommunication among its members. Third, a discourse
community uses its participatory mechanisms primarily to provide information and feedback. Fourth,
a discourse community utilizes and hence possesses one or more genres in the communicative
furtherance of its aims. Fifth, a discourse community has acquired some specific lexis. And finally, a
discourse community has a threshold level of members with a suitable degree of relevant content and
discoursal expertise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a self proclaimed nerd, I was a member of a gaming community (I am staying very vague since
I am slightly embarrassed about this). In the community, we all focused on one singular game, Swales

in the game, Swales second characteristic. Within the community, we had adopted specific codes, in
which we could all recognize and understand fluently, for nearly a hundred different situations, Swales
fifth characteristic. And finally, most members had some real world experience that went beyond the
game. For some this game was what they experienced in their careers, Swales sixth

Examples Of Potion In Romeo And Juliet
The potion was about wear off and they would be together. Everything had gone as Brother had

and all would be fine. They would finally be together, and the story of Romeo and Juliet would

Brother nor Sister could make out the silver flask he had drawn. In it was a true potion for death,

How Does Technology Change The World Changing Technology...
In 2013, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Massachusetts General Hospital (Mass.
General) teamed up to change the world. They developed new technology that would not only take
more detailed x ray images, but also take images of soft tissue that would not have to be enhanced
with some form of contrast. This new technology could make x rays ubiquitous, because of its higher
resolution, the fact that the dose would be smaller and the hardware smaller, cheaper, and more
capable than current x rays , says Luis Velasquez Garcia, one of the main research scientist of this
technology at MIT. So how does this new world changing technology work?
According to the developers, the key is in the coherent beam. The beam is reduced to a micro sized
point source instead of the systems that we have today, which are large points. These micro sized point
sources, which emit a beam of electrons individually, pass through a micro structured plate that emits
a beam of x ray , aka image receptor. In layman teams they are redeveloping the cathode component
of an x ray machine, to be able operate to with an optimized cathode chip . With the prototype that the
two research teams have invented so far, they have been able to capture high resolution absorption
images of samples where fine soft tissue structures are clearly visible . This may sound like a great
change the world technology but it is not without its pros and cons.

Essay on Triumph of The Nerds
Akshay!1 Akshay Jain Professor Susan Hubbard Computer s Impact on Society 11 September 2014 !
The Blunders of Computer Giants historically affected their Economy. The remarkable contribution
and digital competition between the computer giants historically affected the economy of the world

contemporary technology on a global scale, encouraged the nerds to establish digital empires that

The relationships and collaboration for developing a product, between these computer giants were
quite interesting. Another Computer Giant IBM wanted to develop a PC with a thinking of making it
open architecture by using off the shelf components. Gary Kildall, the guy who had OS called CPM,
refused to contribute with IBM, of which IBM was in need of. IBM and Microsoft came for making a
PC as Microsoft had software and OS with a person whom they knew, he was Tim Patterson. It was
called as The Floridian Project . Microsoft paid SCP $50,000 for OS as Tim was working for them.
And for more chunks of profit, Microsoft sold the licenses to each computer for $50. After selling
those PCs IBM gained 50% of the market. Though IBM was taking over the market, their some
careless mistakes made them suffer. IBM did not buy the OS from Microsoft and did not prevent him
from licensing it other computer giants. It was matter of time and other companies took on IBM. Even
hardware suppliers of IBM such as Intel(CPU), Compaq started selling their own PC. The only thing
that was proprietary to IBM was ROM BIOS but that too was legally acquired by competitors through
reverse engineering. IBM market was shrinking and they suffered from economical cutback. Akshay!3

NHL Player Tracking Essay
According to the Sports Business Daily article, NHL aims for player tracking system this year , vision
based tracking systems have not been the most accurate when it comes to tracking the puck on the ice.
This is mainly because of the speed of the puck and its unpredictable movement (Thomas, 2017). It is
also because of its tendency to be covered up by the goalie which can lead to incorrect readings. For
this reason, the NHL has talked with two potential vendors that can provide each of these individual
technologies (Thomas, 2017).
David Lehanski, senior vice president of business development and global partnerships of the NHL
states that their goal is to test the technologies at the 2017 2018 All Star Game in Tampa, Florida
(Thomas, 2017). They will be looking to see how the technologies are implemented and if they are
successful throughout this next trial run.
According to the Sports Business Daily article, NHL aims for player tracking system this year , having
a computer vision tracking system in the NHL, would provide the league with an accurate tracking
system that is easier to being using and less expensive than a chip based player tracking system. The

Population Control in China Essay
Population Control in China
Vigilantes abduct pregnant women on the streets and haul them off, sometimes handcuffed or trussed,
to abortion clinics. [Some] aborted babies cry when they are born (Steven Mosher). This quotation
shows one method how China tries to carry through its population control in a manner which is very
cruel and against human rights. We, Western people, do not understand why China needs a population
control and why this control has to be carried out so harshly.
But why had China to control its population? From 1949 on, Mao Zedong feared war with the United
States or the Soviet Union. China s millions [of people] were the country s primary weapon against
technologically superior enemies. The Chinese population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The desire for sons and the infanticides of girls lead to another problem. Today the imbalance between
men and women is already very high, and will even get higher in the future. For example, in the
Guangxi province 19 out of 24 births were boys (2001). Because of this imbalance men will have a
hard time finding a Chinese woman in the next couple of years.
But how does China try to carry out its one child policy? The techniques to enforce the one child
family are sometimes very cruel and violate human rights. First of all, families need an authorization
to have a baby. That means that when they decide to have a baby, they first have to get an official
authorization to have a child. To learn about unauthorized pregnancies, Chinese officials pay
informants to report them pregnancies of women. These informants can be neighbors, friends, or even
family. This method is comparable to what the East German Stasi did in former times. Chinese people
cannot trust anybody, because they can be reported to the officials. Women are also only allowed to
have children when they are married. Because of this law, China passed another law that says that
women are only allowed to marry with the age of 23. That means that women officially are allowed to
have a child with 23 years. That led to an increase of the average age of first birth from 20.8 years
(1970s) to 23.6 years (1998). Another method to enforce the one child policy is sterilizations. All
women who gave birth to three

Michael Gow s play Away presents Coral as a character that is in urgent need to undergo profound
change. At the introduction of the play, Coral is introduced to the audience as an emotionally unstable
and isolated character. Through the use of stage directions, Coral doesn t respond , it is clear that Coral

At the beginning of the scene, we view Coral engaging in conversation with Leonie, another resident
at the Hotel. The dialogue reveals a conversation that is unstable and awkward. Coral starts to become
overpowering and questioning by asking, Isn t hard making contact with other people in this kind of
place? Everyone s enjoying themselves but, I don t know, I feel it s a bit forced, do you feel that? Are
you really enjoying yourself? Or are you only pretending. To please your husband, perhaps? The stage
directions allow the audience to see that Leonie is almost in tears and asks Why are you staring like
that? Coral ignores her questions and remarks and continues to question the woman. Corals language
is cliché and proves she is still not coping. Coral starts to scare Leonie where she says Let me go,
please, I want to go reinforcing Corals inability to make contact and communicate with other people
and her lack of social skills. Rather than talking to the woman she starts to override the conversation
and become overwhelming revealing her isolation and alienation. Coral continues to ignore the
woman s pleads to leave and Leonie begins to struggle and starts crying sobbing, I want to go in. I m
hungry. Let me go . This shows Coral is unable to concentrate on her own issues and decides to force
herself upon someone else s problems in order to take away her own pain.
Coral then meets another important character named Rick. Rick uses short sentences and

Building Codes Analysis
The practice of building codes is to ensure the safety, structural stability and health. Through the years
many codes have been imposed to fix problems have occurred in the construction of the building or
after it been constructed. Building codes are interpenetrated different depending on the location it s
being built. This is due to local officials of the area who have the power to change codes or arrange
than to meet the requirement for the area. The reason every country, state, and the city have their own
way to interpenetrate codes differently is because the building must adapt to the surrounding area.
When the architect being designing a set of drawing not only does he or she has to meet all the
requirement for the building itself but the requirement needed to build in the area. For example, a
building in Colorado and a building in Florida will have different codes in place that give the building
many characteristics. One code that would be different is frost line this mean how depth the ground
doesn t freeze in the winter. Since Colorado tend to be very cold in winter reaching low temperature
the frost line will be deeper than Florida that stays warm all most all year. According to Allen, E.,

safe, cost effective, timely construction methods. With the help of local official testing new method of

Essay about The Historical Significance of Negro Baseball...
Negro baseball leagues have a deep historical significance. Racism and Jim Crow laws encouraged
segregation of African Americans and whites. Arguably, the players on the negro baseball leagues
were some of the best ever. Even today they are still being recognized and honored for their wonderful
contribution to baseball as a whole. It started when major league owners had made a gentleman s
agreement to keep blacks from playing in the game. The barrier that went up was finally broken with a
few black players being signed into white teams in the 1940s. It was once said by Martin Luther King
Jr., [Segregation] gives the segregator a false sense of superiority, it gives the segregated a false sense
of inferiority. While that is true of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first all black team formed in 1894 called the Page Fence Giants was from Michigan. Other teams
followed later and traveled throughout the country playing each other in pickup games . In 1920, Rube
Foster, who had been a pitcher manager with other teams, organized the first Negro National League.
He had financial backing to support the eight teams he organized. The teams consisted of the Chicago
American Giants, Chicago Giants, Dayton Marcos, Detroit Stars, Indianapolis ABCs, Kansas City
Monarchs, St. Louis Giants, and Cuban Stars. With these teams he controlled all the operations from
equipment to scheduling games to selling tickets. Foster wanted to add structure to baseball leagues to
prove that it didn t have to be run the way whites do. He also wanted to show white baseball league
members that his ideas were good. The attitude of the white majority was, there is nothing you can

2014.)
The Negro League players were the best at entertaining the crowd. They would impress the audience
by playing an upbeat, fast, and daring game. Players often stole bases on risky terms, but successfully
stealing a base meant a roar from the crowd. Negro League players were also often known to talk a lot
on the field. The batters would try to make the pitchers nervous by using intimidating talk. The silly

Effects Of Birth Control
Birth Control: Health Effects.
Every year at least 1 out of 5 pregnancies are unplanned, birth control is used to prevent unwanted
pregnancies it has been a concerned for humans for many years. There are many types of birth
controls, one of the most common one is combination pill which is used for many purposes. One way
combination pill is used is to stop ovulation due to the hormones that it produces which are estrogen,
and progesterone. These two hormones control the entire process when it comes to the menstrual
cycle, estrogen regulate the menstrual cycle meanwhile progesterone thickens the lining of the uterus

lowered to allow the lining of the uterus to thicken. The ratio rises during the second half of the cycle
to allow the normal shedding of the lining of the uterus to occur. Meanwhile everything remains the
same throughout the third category.

Maintenance Management Systems for Malaysian Heritage...
Heritage buildings as described by Feilden (2000) are buildings that give us a sense of wonder and
make us want to know more about people and culture that produce it . A more elaborate definition was
made by Kamal and Harun (2002) where they defined them as buildings built in the past which have
high historical and architectural values and require continuous care and protection to preserve their
historical, architectural, aesthetic, archaeological, spiritual, social, political and economic values. In
other words, heritage buildings are expected to have an indefinite life span, signifying that they should
be preserved for as long as possible. This was also pointed out by Feilden (1982) where stated that

He categorized them into four major architectural styles namely MOORISH (Old general post office
built in 1894), TUDOR (Royal Selangor club built in 1884), NEO CLASSICAL (Municipal council

survival of heritage buildings in Malaysia has been extremely under threat for quite some time now. A
large number of heritage buildings are decaying due to age, neglect, and high maintenance cost while
many have been destroyed during the building boom of the 1970s. Moreover, large scale urban
development continues to jeopardize their existence. Mustapa et al (2007) noted that destroying
heritage buildings is as good as wiping out historical memories. He affirmed that conserving these
buildings became necessary in order to avert an ugly scenario of losing the nations historical and
architectural memories. As defined by Ahmad (2009), building conservation relates to the processes of
maintenance, repair, and restoration of heritage buildings with the aim of prolonging a building s life
and function . In other words, building conservation is the action taken to prevent decay by adopting
approaches that extend the life of heritage building. For the purpose of this study, there is a need to
clarify some building conservation terminologies to avoid some common misconceptions in the

My belief was that the hot water would make the crystals grow quicker versus warm or cold water
temperature. But I did believe the warm would make them grow to, but the cold water would be to
cold for the crystals to grow
Thesis
The purpose of this experiment was to determine which temperature (hot, cold or room temperature)
affects the growth of crystals the most.
What are crystals?
Crystals are a piece of a solid substance with a natural shape or form with arranged plane faces. A
crystal is a group of molecules or atoms. Each of the crystals have a different shape. Like a sugar
crystal have an oblong, slanted end; and salt crystals have a cubic shape. Some substance will make

who are homeless. We found that both the targeted and non targeted programs provide an array of
services, such as housing, health care, job training, and transportation. (p. 4). Unfortunately, there are
people out in the world who don t care for helping the homeless. Mostly, they ignore them and one
reason for that is because it is easier to ignore the homeless than it is to acknowledge and help them.
But acknowledging them is the first step to helping them, and helping them will decrease
homelessness nationally. The Help the Homeless Program is a good program to start and as long as
there are people who care and join in to get the program started, then it will make a difference in a

Anti Bias Curriculum For Children And Families From...
As a Family Advocate, I work with families and children from different backgrounds and cultures.
After completing the observations, anti bias curriculum is a must to reflect the cultural and
background of the families and children in the program. Many families I work with are low income.
My goal is to create an environment where children and families from different backgrounds can feel
comfortable and belonging. I would like to work closely with families and provide the support that
they may need. There are countless ways biased against low income families. A large part of the mold
is just plain incorrect. Most people believe that the poor are poor because of their own shortcomings
instead inequitable access to services and opportunities. There are litanies of stereotypes towards poor
people, such as poor people are lazy and uneducated. They are alcoholics and drug addicts. They do
not want to work and depend on social welfare system. They don t know how to teach their children
and let them run wild and dirty. Poor people don t have knowledge and good for labor but nothing
else. Other common stereotypes about the poor show that they are inattentive and, as a result, parents
are not effective. Low income parents or guardians who do not attend parent teacher meetings can
become the target of stereotyping, or worse, getting blamed by those educators. Because of these
stigmatic, even the low income also biases against themselves. They believe that they could not

The Similarity And Difference (Civil War)
The Similarity and difference (Civil War)
11 4 #28 Jang Dongmin
The movie authors usually show about the human nature through the characters in the movies and
each characters have a different personality. Because each heros has various characteristics, they
sometimes conflict with each others. The movie Civil war treats about the fight between the Iron Man
and Captain America. Although Avengers is the group of heros, many citizens dislike them. During the
fight with the villains, they destroyed many things such as New York City or airport. Therefore the
UN want to make them under their controls. About this policy, the Avengers divided in two groups.
The only hero, Vision, maintain neutrality in this fight. Therefore, when I saw this movie, I think the

Maintain the teamwork is important and it also means that it is the best way to get a good score for
me. For example, when I do my assignment with my group members and have some troubles between
the group members. Some groups cannot adjust the opinion discord. However, I always try to solve
the trouble and make our team in one. This behavior is good for my score and can make our team s
works more smooth.
However, Vision has a differently to my part of personality. Vision is not a leader in group therefore he
always show us passive behavior. On the other hand, I always have a role of group leader and have a

The South Is Seen As A Romanticize Version Of The United...
Mid Term Exam #3 The South is seen as a romanticize version of the United States. A place where
virtue, honor, and strong religious morals were upheld in common society. However, the recurring
themes that the South would have the role of being the ongoing rebel against most national policies
that gave any sign of hindering their way of life, the concept of individualism, yet keeping its own
societal identity. From the Revolutionary War onwards, the South has been developed as the shining
example of what an American should be like. Slavery was a huge attribute of Southern society, though
looked down upon by the world, it was practiced and eagerly defended by political logic and religious
zeal. One argument is made from a Senator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The South has been criticized for practicing the archaic ways of slavery deeming it: barbaric,
inhumane, and out of touch with the changes of the world. The argument continues through George
Fitzhugh s Southern Thought, Labor pays all taxes, but labor in a slave society is property, and men
will take care of their property. In free society, labor is not property, and there is nothing to shield the
laborer from the grinding weight of taxation all of which he pays, because he produces everything
valuable. (Fitzhugh Southern Thought pg. 823) Furthermore, the identity the South identifies itself as
a place of self worth and pride in what your property can produce while enjoying the fruits of their
labors. A land where taxes cannot take away the riches and treasures that are produced in their fruitful
land. The South possessed identity, and with that identity came the sense of individualism. One of the
leading causes of the Civil War was the belief that the South s sense of individualism was in danger
and to be eradicated from the face of the United States. Ironically, during the Civil War the draft was
enacted into Southern conscriptions making it more of mandatory duty to southerners to join the
military. The first general American military draft was enacted by the Confederate government on
April 16, 1862, more than a year before the federal government did the same. The Confederacy took

Descriptive Essay On The House
The back door of the moving truck slammed shut, making me slightly jump gasping in surprise. I
turned in my seat and look at the house, I ve lived my whole life in. Gloomily I stare remembering all
the happy and sad times I ve had here. come on Kate stop thinking such sad thoughts the new house is
going to be great, I said clapping my hands over my face. The cab driver turned the ignition key, and
the cab rumbled to life. We start rolling forward down the street behind the moving truck. Watching
the houses move past me slowly lulling me to sleep. I close my eyes slipping into the comfort of sleep.
HEY wake up we re almost there the cab driver halfway yelled in his gruff voice. I pop up looking
curiously around me. My face crumples up in concern. I look out the window and I see no houses.
Then, suddenly I see in the distance two houses, one on either side of the street. We pull up to the
houses and the cab pulled into the driveway of one of the house. The moving truck stops on the side of
the road I get out of the cab. I stared unbelievably at the house that we stopped at. I walk inside and
look around. The house is already furnished. The furniture is clean and looks like it hasn t ever been
used. By the time I get outside to help get boxes from the moving truck. The taxi, truck, and all the
people are gone, leaving the few boxes of my stuff in the driveway. I carry the small boxes into my
bedroom. Starting to organize my stuff I hear what I believe to be the doorbell.

Stronger By Mandis Song Analysis
Ever since I was a little girl, music has always been a major part of my life. I listen to it all the time,
and it always has an effect on me. It has influenced my feelings, thoughts, and actions. While there are
many songs that mean a lot to me, the one song that has meant the most to me and positively
influenced me throughout my life is the Christian song Stronger by Mandisa. The first time I heard
Stronger was on the K Love Radio Station two days after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer
for the second time. It was stage two, so it was a pretty serious disease going throughout my mom s
body. In the beginning, I was so upset and angry that something so terrible could happen to my family.

I knew she needed me and I needed to be an encourager toward her. When I heard this song, I knew it
was exactly what I needed. It was like sunshine during a hailstorm. During such a time of turmoil, I
never thought a song could change my attitude dramatically. My favorite line of the song says this,
The pain ain t gonna last forever/ And things can only get better/ Believe me, this is gonna make you
stronger . To me, these three lines told me that no matter what happened things could only go up, and I
can be better from it. I now know this to be true. Because of my mom s fight, I have the courage to go
after all of the things I thought I could not. For the first time, I was not scared of the future, as I used
to be. Although Stronger was written in early 2011, I still listen to it very often. Every time the song
brings back the terrible memories of both times the best person in my life had cancer. However, this
song also brings back the amazing memories I had with my mom. Memories that show her courage
and strength when I had little. One memory I had with my mom was sitting at Duke University

three lines of the song perfectly described my life in that moment. As my mom and I listened, we just

An Analysis Of Media In Social Media
This step will involve an analysis of media, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, and Twitter to
market oneself and grow their career. The social applications have not only expanded the job market
but have also developed tools that marketers can use to develop their own business consulting services
online. The primary social media channel of choice will be LinkedIn, which is a professional
networking site with over half a billion active e users engaging in different forums and LinkedIn
groups. It is a site that over 90% of recruitment firms and 85% of hiring managers utilize to find
candidates (Shin, 2014).
Penetrating the LinkedIn media platform will require dedication and proper care not to dent a person s
professional competency. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any job engagements will be formalized offline by having professional exchanges and discussions off

Step 3: Integrate Strategies
The main objective of the strategy will entail growing one s social media presence and finding the
right connections. Therefore, LinkedIn will be the right tool to integrate to one s offline job search and
career growth. Penetrating the social media sites will require proper planning, determination,
creativity and consistency. The main strategy will entail posting quality content to offer industrial
advice, periodical reports and corporate analysis (Johnson, 2017).
The strategy will be mixed with offline engagements which will include attending at niche based
professional career events and industrial marketing network conferences created by individuals within
my online social circles as an opportunity to have face to face conversations. After creating an online
presence, the only way to stand out from the rest of the professionals looking for jobs and career
opportunities will be to develop and manage a group with common interest as a long term strategy
from where one can grow as a marketing consultant.
Step 4: Identify Resources
The social media personal branding strategy will enable one to sell their skills as a marketer through

Music Therapy Reflection
In these last few classes were have talked about dibs, gone over some limit setting, and have music
therapists come to the class. I was really interested in hearing about music therapy because I honestly
did not know anything about it before our guest speakers came in. I was excited to see what it entailed,
and was interested in the audience that they worked with. But when they introduced themselves I
quickly became upset when one of the speakers started talking about the dying children she worked
with. I feel like we should have had a warning that she was going to talk about how she worked with
dying children on a song for their funeral because that was too heartbreaking to handle, especially for
someone who has had a very sick younger cousin who has spent large time spans in the hospital and
have had life threatening complications. On a lighter note, we talked about limit setting in class and I
did find it interesting the rule and regulations that came along with limit setting. I enjoyed the
statement A limit is not needed, until it is needed, because it still allows the autonomy of the children
choosing things while still protecting yourself in situations that are deemed necessary. I did find it
surprising when it was mentioned that some children can spend entire classes setting limits and
making choices on what to do once a limit is not respected. I also like that we talked about how
consistency is key, because that is applicable anywhere in a child s life, they need consistency in their
life to a certain point in order to be well functioning. One of the reading that we did was a print out
combination of powerpoint s and worksheets for limit setting. One new thing that I learned was the
ACT of limit setting, Acknowledge, Communication, and Target. In this the therapist is expected to
acknowledging the child s feelings, State or define the limit, and then provide an alternative for the
child. This made it very clear and helpful to understand how to set a limit in an appropriate and not in
an imaginative limiting way. You acknowledge their feelings and provide them with an alternative to
the behavior that you have deemed unsafe, destructive, etc. I like this because I have tried something

1000 To 1750 Christianity Analysis
Between 1000 1750, Christianity maintained authority over the people due to religious and political
power, thereby greatly influencing art and education, however exposure to new knowledge from the
Islamic world led to changes in the way the church was perceived and depicted in Western Europe.
At the beginning of the period during the Medieval Times, the Catholic Church had power and
influence over everyone s lives. The church built up its power over the years through superstition and
engraining in people s minds that the only way to heaven was through church. People believed this
because they were not exposed to any other formal education and anyone that spoke against the
church was subject to heretics. Toward the end of the period, after

How Did The North American Colonists Have Taxes Justified
North American colonists chose to revolt against the king to get rid of unfair taxes and unjust
treatment of its citizens. When the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were made, the developers
made sure that there was taxation with representation, and no cruel and unusual punishment. Every
time there is a war, money must be raised to maintain it. However, unlike the king, taxes were made
without proper reason and proof made it harder for colonists to understand why the king s actions
were justified. During the Stamp Act of 1765, Britian declared that all documents (newspapers, books,
court documents, etc.) must be stamp and that a stamp purchase must be required to help finance the
stationing of British troops throughout North America.1 American colonists were not recognized in
the House of Commons, and claimed that Britain had no reason to impose taxes solely based on
making profit on regulating trade.2 The colonists allegiance was still to Britain, but they later decide
to boycott the act due to the invalid response made by Parliament. The Townshead Acts of 1767

Isolation And Social Isolation
Canada s aging population is growing. One of the number one emerging issue facing seniors is social
isolation. Statistics Canada s 2008/09 Canadian Community Health Survey found that 19% of
individuals aged 65 or over felt a lack of companionship, left out, or isolated from others (National
Seniors Council, 2014). Social isolation is not the same as loneliness. It is a form of emotion that
makes people depression. Social isolation impacts on seniors quality of life, mental and physical
health. To reduce the social isolation is the way seniors are connected socially. For example, there are
exercise programs and community engaged art programs for the elderly in the community. This
program is effective for seniors physical and mental health. Although such programs have beneficial
effects on seniors health, some studies argue that there are barriers to reducing the social isolation of
older people in such programs. Community programs and community participation programs benefit
from the seniors physical, emotional and social well being. The purpose of the Community exercise
program is a socialization based exercise program to improve the seniors health. Community arts
programs aim to promote optimal health for seniors. However, it is difficult to reduce the social
isolation without using these objectives potentially.

to be greater or there would need to be less of a decrease. For both of the recession/recovery periods,
the GDPC1 starting value was greater than the ending value, meaning the market value of production
decreased from the start to the end. The first recession had a greater decrease in the GDPC1 (1.96

This can show how book are the soupier to movies because without the book in the first place the
movie would have never made. Movies like Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Speak, Twilight, The Book
Thief, How to Train Your Dragon, and many more. All of these movies started as renowned books,
that had won many awards. However when they are made into movies the audience loses some of the
key factors that played into making the book so famous. When reading the books, the reader can get
an idea of the feeling of characters. Readers know exactly what they are thinking, how they are feeling
and what they are planning to do next. In earlier Shakespearian plays director attempted to keep this
idea of know what the main character was feeling and thinking by adding in a monologue. But this
monologue was broken away from the rest of the play. Actors would break character and speak
directly to the audience of what they were thinking and wanted. This was later seen as distracting to
the audience though, and it was removed in later production, and is why we do not see them in movies
now. Books have a nicer flow to them and inside because readers will always know what the character
is thinking, feeling, and going to do. Something that audiences do not get in the theaters, showing
again that books have better understanding of quality.
Continuing on with better qualities of books, readers will get a better feeling of accomplishment when

The Hindu Religion Essay
Sacraments
Samskaras are an important element in the belief and practice of the Hindu religion. The word
samskar is evolved from the root samskri which means to purify or form thoroughly. Samskriti –
meaning civilization and Sanskrit are derived from the root samskri . Samskrit was considered the
most refined and grammatically perfect language compared to other regional languages in ancient
times. The best rendering of samskara in English is made by the word sacrament, meaning religious
ceremony or act regarded as an outward and visible sign of inward and spiritual grace. Sacrament also
means confirmation of some promise or oath; things of mysterious significance, sacred influence and

The general idea of the samskaras is that their practice surrenders the human soul to the service of
god.
Atri writes, By birth every one is a shudra, by samskars he becomes a Dvija (twice born). By learning,
he becomes a Vipra and by realizing Brahman, he attains the status of a Brahmana.
Symbolism has a significant role in the performance of samskaras, as it does in the entirety of the
Hindu religion. Both materialistic and action based symbols are abundantly obvious in each samskara,
and too numerous to mention. Examples include the use of Audumbar branches, or fig branches,
which stand for prosperity. The vatu (student) at upanayana and the bride at a wedding instructed to
stand on a rock signifying stability and firmness. Touching of the heart in upanayana between teacher
and student and in marriage between bride and groom, indicates residence of God and virtues of love
and harmony. Mass of rice indicates abundance and prosperity. Eating together means fusion of hearts,
grasping the hand (panigrahana) indicates assumption of responsibilities.
The standard sixteen samskars laid down by Hindu religious texts are:

The, The Melting Pot, And The World
Culture is described as the set of beliefs, customs, ways of thinking and behaving that exists in a
particular society. Meanwhile, the act of having a sense of reality can be described as knowing the
world or the state of things as they exist. Reality has a flimsy definition because one s own reality
could be different compared to another. However, a person s culture will affect how they think and
thus manipulate their perception of reality. Common examples of this are: route of upbringing,
political views, holistic medicinal approaches and most importantly, religion. The United States of
America has many different cultures present throughout the entire nation. That is why it is commonly
referred to as the melting pot of the world. This being said, people raised in different parts of the
United States will be apart of different cultures and thus different senses of reality. Someone raised in
the South will have a different culture than someone raised in the North. While this doesn t completely
alter their sense of reality, it does affect it. Even two neighbors will have different senses of reality
because in general, upbringing affects reality. Being optimistic will create opportunities and also
impact how to live your life on a day to day basis (Creagan). In indian culture, a symptom of being

Evil And Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello
Evil is when someone/something is wicked or does bad things in spite of inflicting harm on another. In
the play Othello written by Shakespeare we see many of the characters who are taken over by evil.
One thing that we see in common throughout the play is a theme of jealousy that runs through many
characters in the story. We learn that the evil within the story act as a pyramid, as if the jealousy is
being passed down by the characters. Evil and jealousy can make a person run on impulse and do
crazy things because of it. We see Othello and his companions are all under the influence of jealousy
which makes each of them do their own evil doings. So we do see evil in Othello in more than just one

The Royal Military College as an Instrument for Molding Military Offices
To view the Royal Military College (RMC) as an instrument for molding military officers for the
nation would be an accurate means of outlining the institutions objective. In the Organizational
Behavior Concepts, Controversies, Applications, textbook by Stephen Robbins and Nancy Langton,
organizational culture is defined as: a system of shared meaning and common perception held by
members of an organization that distinguishes it from other organizations. (Robbins and Langton 316)
Like all institutions RMC is full of variables and cleavages that link peoples together in a variety of
manners. There is however more than simply a catchy motto Truth, Duty, ... Show more content on

While in the early part of the last century some of the original goals of RMC included producing
quality officers in Canada for the war effort at the same time developing Canadian autonomy from
Great Britain; today s goals and objectives are indeed different. Yet the point remains that the college
did not get shut down when the mandate changed. This fact reflects its immortality.
There are many other military academies in the world; an example of one closest to home is that of the
United States Military Academy, WestPoint. RMC and WestPoint have nursed a competitive rivalry
since the early years of RMC. While both institutions are in the business of producing commissioned
officers for their respective nations, the two academies are very different in terms of character and
personality. According to the field of organizational behavior, institutions are said to have personalities
just as people do. This is where culture plays a role in each respective military academy and
determining the atmosphere of the institution. At both RMC and WestPoint there are differing notions
of acceptable behavior. The first years at WestPoint are treated very differently than they are at RMC.
The USMA 4th classman, also known around the campus as pleebe is kept distant from the upper
years at WestPoint. While RMC has taken a very different stance, whereby first year cadets are treated
as full fledge members of the Cadet Wing. The character of the two

Richard Benner s Theory Of Nurses Developing Skills And...
BENNER S THEORY FROM NOVICE TO EXPERT AND ITS
ROLE IN APRN PRACTICE
Gagandeep Sandhu
Samuel Merritt University
Patricia Benner s theory From Novice to Expert is based on the concept of nurses developing skills
and understanding of the patients care overtime which comes from their continued efforts towards
trying to achieve strong education and personal experience. The theory explains the five levels of
nursing experience: novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, and expert. Starting from
novice where they don t have any experience and simply follow instructions, nurses finally reach the
expert level transitioning through different levels where they rely on their experience rather than
principles or guidelines to connect situations and determine actions. Their performance is fluid,
flexible, and highly proficient at this level. Benner stresses on skills through experience as a
prerequisite for becoming an expert nurse (Nursing world, 2013).
Benner s theory gives a hope to new nurses and nurse practitioners in a way that experience brings
expertise. Benner emphasizes on professional growth within the organization with increased
experience. This theory provides a useful structure for practice development and marks out the
difference between the functioning of novice and experienced nurses (Lyneham, Parkinson Denholm
(2009). It emphasizes on the power of expertise and empowers the nurse to expand her knowledge. It
validates the clinical

Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem Erich Fromm
Erich Fromm s essay Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem suggests that humankind s
evolution has, and continues to rely on man s capability to exercise disobedience. While discussing the
positions of disobedience being considered a vice, and obedience being a virtue, Fromm reflects upon
the history of Adam and Eve believing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He adds to this by introducing the concepts of rational and irrational authority, explaining that rational
authority would be equivalent to that of a teacher and student whereby there is mutual benefit, while
irrational authority would be identified by the likes of a slave and his owner who demonstrates
complete disregard of the slave s happiness or well being, his only interest being how the slave will
benefit him. Through a veil of lies man obeys the State, the Church, the mass opinions of their peers,
or any other organization that they view to be in power. This affords him a false sense of safety and
protection. In his obedience, man feels strong allowing him to be controlled by the fear of being
isolated or having undesirable repercussions greet him as a result of any disobedience. Throughout
history it has been evident that, for the most part, the few in power have ruled over the majority. The
foundation of this relationship has been the few equating obedience with virtue and disobedience with
sin, resulting in man not only needing to obey, but wanting to obey. Man s inability to see that he has
lost his ability to disobey and stand up for what he believes and values, instead of what he has been
brainwashed to believe and

Breakfast Club Character Analysis
Each teenager in the breakfast club has a social group that they belong to. Brian is involved in many
different stereotypes that belong to the school, One of the kids in detention with him associates him
with being a nerdy innocent kid who has a balanced family who treats him like a baby. It was also
assumed that he was nerdy because he said that he would write everyone s essay. Brian also deals with
peer pressure. He had to deal with peer pressure when he decided to take part in smoking marijuana
with the rest of the group. Claire in the movie was portrayed as conceited because she is popular and
looks down on those under her on the social hierarchy. This shows that her behavior, internal thoughts,
and her environment are all big factors that do help contribute to her personality. Allison is known as
the weirdo of the group. She also admits to the group that she sees a shrink because she is compulsive
liar. Andrew is the sporty person in the group. He is a wrestler because his dad wants him to be as he
does not want his son to be a loser because he doesn t believe in having losers in his family. After
smoking weed, he admits he has been pressured to do wrestling and doesn t even like it or say
anything in the matter. When Brian talks about his suicide attempt after failing shop class, it might be
the emotional high point of the whole movie. It s the point at which the other kids stop seeing Brian as
just some quirky weirdo and realize that he has issues that are similar in

Letters on England by Voltaire
Letters on England is a small collection of letters written by Voltaire (born François Marie Arouet) in
1733 which offers a survey of societal England from the view of a Frenchmen. The original Letters on
England, titled Lettres philosophiques, was written in English by Voltaire. This first edition was quite
a cumbersome read and so in 1980 Leonard Tancock retranslated the book to English from a previous
French edition. Just a few years prior to the release of Letters on England, Voltaire had been
imprisoned by France and then exiled to England. This incarceration and banishment was in response
to satirical compositions written by Voltaire that the French political powers felt undermined their
rule. Despite harsh censorship laws, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to insights on religion, Voltaire also detailed his own understanding of the politics and
economics in Europe during the time of the Enlightenment. During this time, an absolute monarchy
ruled France while the English had what Voltaire saw as a limited monarch with an involved
democracy. France was ruled using bribery, force, and corruption while England was governed though
compromise and negotiations. Voltaire himself believed in political moderation and defense of civil
liberties. He also observed the differences in economics between the two countries. Free trade was
discouraged in France, to the point that some noblemen lost their rank if they participated in such
commerce. Contrasting this, Voltaire saw that the English encouraged trade and tradesmen were even
held in high regards. He believed that this difference in economics was what gave England access to
their freedoms. Furthermore, Voltaire had a great respect for England s stance on the sciences and
philosophy. Since the beginning of man, religion has served as both a guide to moral behavior and as
an explanation to elucidate the physical world. Up until the 17th and 18th centuries, most explanations
of things pertaining to the natural world were religiously based or simply established on deductive
reasoning alone. When the Enlightenment Era began, new ideas of reasoning came to

The Themes of Love and Loss in My Last Duchess, La Belle Dame Sans Merci, When we Two Parted, and Villegiature Works Cited Missing The poems, My Last Duchess , La Belle Dame Sans Merci and When We Two Parted and Villegiature by Robert Browning (1812 1889), John Keats (1795 1821), Lord Byron (1788 1824) and Edith Nesbit (1858 1924) respectively, have all been written in the nineteenth century. All these poems deal with the different aspects of love and the different attitudes of lovers towards their beloved, after parting or during times away from each other (Villegiature). But, what people in such relationships fail to realise until it is too late is the downside to this sort of relationship, not only for the dominated , but also for the dominating , as such an obsession with ruling over another eventually led the Duke to murder his wife. Though most people would not have taken as drastic a measure as the Duke, the poet probably uses such a negatively powerful result to emphasize on the harmful aspects of such a relationship. Also, this poem follows a strict rhyme scheme and has a conversational rhythm. It is written in iambic pentameter, which probably conveys the conflict within himself between what he says and what he really is a murderer! Furthermore, this sort of communion does not hold many positive aspects for the partner who lets himself/herself be controlled by the other either. In La Belle Dame Sans Merci , the knight says, And that is why I sojourn here/Alone and palely loitering/Though the sedge has wither d from the lake/And no birds sing , the sad condition of the knight here emphasizes on the downbeat to this type of love and the sad, lonely image (from winter) is used to create a greater impact on the reader. Well yes, some minds do think alike and, when they organize, we may call them a discourse community. A discourse community is a specific collective that compares and converses. It is a thought provoking group that promotes common ideas and benefits its members. Any true discourse community can be identified by six necessary characteristics, as described by Swales. First, a discourse community has a broadly agreed set of common public goals. Second, a discourse community has mechanisms of intercommunication among its members. Third, a discourse community uses its participatory mechanisms primarily to provide information and feedback. Fourth, a discourse community utilizes and hence possesses one or more genres in the communicative furtherance of its aims. Fifth, a discourse community has acquired some specific lexis. • 5. How Does Technology Change The World Changing Technology... In 2013, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Massachusetts General Hospital (Mass. General) teamed up to change the world. They developed new technology that would not only take more detailed x ray images, but also take images of soft tissue that would not have to be enhanced with some form of contrast. This new technology could make x rays ubiquitous, because of its higher resolution, the fact that the dose would be smaller and the hardware smaller, cheaper, and more capable than current x rays , says Luis Velasquez Garcia, one of the main research scientist of this technology at MIT. So how does this new world changing technology work? According to the developers, the key is in the coherent beam. The beam is reduced to a micro sized point source instead of the systems that we have today, which are large points. These micro sized point sources, which emit a beam of electrons individually, pass through a micro structured plate that emits a beam of x ray , aka image receptor. In layman teams they are redeveloping the cathode component of an x ray machine, to be able operate to with an optimized cathode chip . With the prototype that the two research teams have invented so far, they have been able to capture high resolution absorption images of samples where fine soft tissue structures are clearly visible . This may sound like a great change the world technology but it is not without its pros and cons. One pro that came to mind when reading the article ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. NHL Player Tracking Essay According to the Sports Business Daily article, NHL aims for player tracking system this year , vision based tracking systems have not been the most accurate when it comes to tracking the puck on the ice. This is mainly because of the speed of the puck and its unpredictable movement (Thomas, 2017). It is also because of its tendency to be covered up by the goalie which can lead to incorrect readings. For this reason, the NHL has talked with two potential vendors that can provide each of these individual technologies (Thomas, 2017). David Lehanski, senior vice president of business development and global partnerships of the NHL states that their goal is to test the technologies at the 2017 2018 All Star Game in Tampa, Florida (Thomas, 2017). We, Western people, do not understand why China needs a population control and why this control has to be carried out so harshly. But why had China to control its population? Today the imbalance between men and women is already very high, and will even get higher in the future. For example, in the Guangxi province 19 out of 24 births were boys (2001). Because of this imbalance men will have a hard time finding a Chinese woman in the next couple of years. But how does China try to carry out its one child policy? The techniques to enforce the one child family are sometimes very cruel and violate human rights. First of all, families need an authorization to have a baby. That means that when they decide to have a baby, they first have to get an official authorization to have a child. To learn about unauthorized pregnancies, Chinese officials pay informants to report them pregnancies of women. These informants can be neighbors, friends, or even family. This method is comparable to what the East German Stasi did in former times. Chinese people cannot trust anybody, because they can be reported to the officials. Women are also only allowed to have children when they are married. Because of this law, China passed another law that says that women are only allowed to marry with the age of 23. That means that women officially are allowed to have a child with 23 years. That led to an increase of the average age of first birth from 20.8 years (1970s) to 23.6 years (1998). Through the years many codes have been imposed to fix problems have occurred in the construction of the building or after it been constructed. Building codes are interpenetrated different depending on the location it s being built. This is due to local officials of the area who have the power to change codes or arrange than to meet the requirement for the area. The reason every country, state, and the city have their own way to interpenetrate codes differently is because the building must adapt to the surrounding area. When the architect being designing a set of drawing not only does he or she has to meet all the requirement for the building itself but the requirement needed to build in the area. It started when major league owners had made a gentleman s agreement to keep blacks from playing in the game. The barrier that went up was finally broken with a few black players being signed into white teams in the 1940s. We found that both the targeted and non targeted programs provide an array of services, such as housing, health care, job training, and transportation. (p. 4). Unfortunately, there are people out in the world who don t care for helping the homeless. Mostly, they ignore them and one reason for that is because it is easier to ignore the homeless than it is to acknowledge and help them. But acknowledging them is the first step to helping them, and helping them will decrease homelessness nationally. After completing the observations, anti bias curriculum is a must to reflect the cultural and background of the families and children in the program. Many families I work with are low income. My goal is to create an environment where children and families from different backgrounds can feel comfortable and belonging. I would like to work closely with families and provide the support that they may need. There are countless ways biased against low income families. A large part of the mold is just plain incorrect. Most people believe that the poor are poor because of their own shortcomings instead inequitable access to services and opportunities. There are litanies of stereotypes towards poor people, such as poor people are lazy and uneducated. They are alcoholics and drug addicts. They do not want to work and depend on social welfare system. They don t know how to teach their children and let them run wild and dirty. Poor people don t have knowledge and good for labor but nothing else. Other common stereotypes about the poor show that they are inattentive and, as a result, parents are not effective. Low income parents or guardians who do not attend parent teacher meetings can become the target of stereotyping, or worse, getting blamed by those educators. The South has been criticized for practicing the archaic ways of slavery deeming it: barbaric, inhumane, and out of touch with the changes of the world. The argument continues through George Fitzhugh s Southern Thought, Labor pays all taxes, but labor in a slave society is property, and men will take care of their property. In free society, labor is not property, and there is nothing to shield the laborer from the grinding weight of taxation all of which he pays, because he produces everything valuable. A land where taxes cannot take away the riches and treasures that are produced in their fruitful land. The South possessed identity, and with that identity came the sense of individualism. One of the leading causes of the Civil War was the belief that the South s sense of individualism was in danger and to be eradicated from the face of the United States. Ironically, during the Civil War the draft was enacted into Southern conscriptions making it more of mandatory duty to southerners to join the military. I was really interested in hearing about music therapy because I honestly did not know anything about it before our guest speakers came in. I was excited to see what it entailed, and was interested in the audience that they worked with. But when they introduced themselves I quickly became upset when one of the speakers started talking about the dying children she worked with. I feel like we should have had a warning that she was going to talk about how she worked with dying children on a song for their funeral because that was too heartbreaking to handle, especially for someone who has had a very sick younger cousin who has spent large time spans in the hospital and have had life threatening complications. On a lighter note, we talked about limit setting in class and I did find it interesting the rule and regulations that came along with limit setting. I enjoyed the statement A limit is not needed, until it is needed, because it still allows the autonomy of the children choosing things while still protecting yourself in situations that are deemed necessary. I did find it surprising when it was mentioned that some children can spend entire classes setting limits and making choices on what to do once a limit is not respected. I also like that we talked about how consistency is key, because that is applicable anywhere in a child s life, they need consistency in their life to a certain point in order to be well functioning. One of the reading that we did was a print out combination of powerpoint s and worksheets for limit setting. One new thing that I learned was the ACT of limit setting, Acknowledge, Communication, and Target. In this the therapist is expected to acknowledging the child s feelings, State or define the limit, and then provide an alternative for the child. This made it very clear and helpful to understand how to set a limit in an appropriate and not in an imaginative limiting way. When the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were made, the developers made sure that there was taxation with representation, and no cruel and unusual punishment. Every time there is a war, money must be raised to maintain it. Statistics Canada s 2008/09 Canadian Community Health Survey found that 19% of individuals aged 65 or over felt a lack of companionship, left out, or isolated from others (National Seniors Council, 2014). Social isolation is not the same as loneliness. It is a form of emotion that makes people depression. Social isolation impacts on seniors quality of life, mental and physical health. To reduce the social isolation is the way seniors are connected socially. For example, there are exercise programs and community engaged art programs for the elderly in the community. This program is effective for seniors physical and mental health. Although such programs have beneficial effects on seniors health, some studies argue that there are barriers to reducing the social isolation of older people in such programs. In earlier Shakespearian plays director attempted to keep this idea of know what the main character was feeling and thinking by adding in a monologue. The Royal Military College as an Instrument for Molding Military Offices To view the Royal Military College (RMC) as an instrument for molding military officers for the nation would be an accurate means of outlining the institutions objective. In the Organizational Behavior Concepts, Controversies, Applications, textbook by Stephen Robbins and Nancy Langton, organizational culture is defined as: a system of shared meaning and common perception held by members of an organization that distinguishes it from other organizations. (Robbins and Langton 316) Like all institutions RMC is full of variables and cleavages that link peoples together in a variety of manners. While in the early part of the last century some of the original goals of RMC included producing quality officers in Canada for the war effort at the same time developing Canadian autonomy from Great Britain; today s goals and objectives are indeed different. Yet the point remains that the college did not get shut down when the mandate changed. This fact reflects its immortality. There are many other military academies in the world; an example of one closest to home is that of the United States Military Academy, WestPoint. RMC and WestPoint have nursed a competitive rivalry since the early years of RMC. While both institutions are in the business of producing commissioned officers for their respective nations, the two academies are very different in terms of character and personality. According to the field of organizational behavior, institutions are said to have personalities just as people do. This is where culture plays a role in each respective military academy and determining the atmosphere of the institution. At both RMC and WestPoint there are differing notions of acceptable behavior. The first years at WestPoint are treated very differently than they are at RMC. The USMA 4th classman, also known around the campus as pleebe is kept distant from the upper years at WestPoint. While RMC has taken a very different stance, whereby first year cadets are treated as full fledge members of the Cadet Wing. The character of the two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

BENNER S THEORY FROM NOVICE TO EXPERT AND ITS ROLE IN APRN PRACTICE Gagandeep Sandhu Samuel Merritt University Patricia Benner s theory From Novice to Expert is based on the concept of nurses developing skills and understanding of the patients care overtime which comes from their continued efforts towards trying to achieve strong education and personal experience. The theory explains the five levels of nursing experience: novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, and expert. Starting from novice where they don t have any experience and simply follow instructions, nurses finally reach the expert level transitioning through different levels where they rely on their experience rather than principles or guidelines to connect situations and determine actions. Their performance is fluid, flexible, and highly proficient at this level. Benner stresses on skills through experience as a prerequisite for becoming an expert nurse (Nursing world, 2013). Benner s theory gives a hope to new nurses and nurse practitioners in a way that experience brings expertise. Benner emphasizes on professional growth within the organization with increased experience. This theory provides a useful structure for practice development and marks out the difference between the functioning of novice and experienced nurses (Lyneham, Parkinson Denholm (2009). It emphasizes on the power of expertise and empowers the nurse to expand her knowledge. It validates the clinical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He adds to this by introducing the concepts of rational and irrational authority, explaining that rational authority would be equivalent to that of a teacher and student whereby there is mutual benefit, while irrational authority would be identified by the likes of a slave and his owner who demonstrates complete disregard of the slave s happiness or well being, his only interest being how the slave will benefit him. Through a veil of lies man obeys the State, the Church, the mass opinions of their peers, or any other organization that they view to be in power. This affords him a false sense of safety and protection. In his obedience, man feels strong allowing him to be controlled by the fear of being isolated or having undesirable repercussions greet him as a result of any disobedience. Throughout history it has been evident that, for the most part, the few in power have ruled over the majority. The foundation of this relationship has been the few equating obedience with virtue and disobedience with sin, resulting in man not only needing to obey, but wanting to obey. Man s inability to see that he has lost his ability to disobey and stand up for what he believes and values, instead of what he has been brainwashed to believe and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The original Letters on England, titled Lettres philosophiques, was written in English by Voltaire. This first edition was quite a cumbersome read and so in 1980 Leonard Tancock retranslated the book to English from a previous French edition. In addition to insights on religion, Voltaire also detailed his own understanding of the politics and economics in Europe during the time of the Enlightenment. During this time, an absolute monarchy ruled France while the English had what Voltaire saw as a limited monarch with an involved democracy. France was ruled using bribery, force, and corruption while England was governed though compromise and negotiations. Voltaire himself believed in political moderation and defense of civil liberties. He also observed the differences in economics between the two countries. Free trade was discouraged in France, to the point that some noblemen lost their rank if they participated in such commerce. Contrasting this, Voltaire saw that the English encouraged trade and tradesmen were even held in high regards. He believed that this difference in economics was what gave England access to their freedoms. Furthermore, Voltaire had a great respect for England s stance on the sciences and philosophy. Since the beginning of man, religion has served as both a guide to moral behavior and as an explanation to elucidate the physical world. Up until the 17th and 18th centuries, most explanations of things pertaining to the natural world were religiously based or simply established on deductive reasoning alone.
