Augustine s Confessions was a major piece of work that heavily influenced the
religion back in his times. Augustine s Confessions is still read today because of the
relatability it shows in aspects of depression, love, and finding your identity.
Throughout the book Augustine goes through his life and the decisions he has made
and how they made him either a better or worse person. We can use Augustine s
Confessions as a tool to also evaluate our own lives and decisions because of the
way he judges himself and what he considers to be the best and worst things he has

medical journal reports that 654,965 civilian casualties occurred in Iraq from 2003
to 2006 so these reports should be taken with a grain of salt. On the pro Saddam
side of the war 76,778 Islamists fighters have died; these deaths were made of
security forces, private contractors, Sons of Iraq, and most were made up of other
supporters of the regime. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Armed
Forces have suffered 4,487 deaths and 32,223 were wounded in action as of May
2012.
As seen by these studies the people suffering are more so the families of the
innocent civilians than those who fought in the conflicts, and a lot of them were
not killed by soldiers. As shown by sites like WikiLeaks many civilian deaths are
caused by mines or drones. These numbers show the amount of devastation caused
by the War on terror and more than ten years later these numbers are still rising.
Ultimately there are still over 50,000 troops in Afghanistan and there are still plans

Summary Of Lorraine Hansberry
Lorraine Hansberry, born May 19, 1930, made a very prominent contribution to
society in her short lived life. She was born to a middle class family as the
youngest of four children. Her father was a successful real estate broker who also
founded one of the first Negro banks in Chicago (Adams 247). Lorraine s mother was
a schoolteacher named Nannie Perry who later became a ward committeewoman.
In 1938, Lorraine s father took a stand against the real estate covenants in Chicago
due to the fact that they legally promoted housing discrimination. He chose to move
his family into a predominantly white neighborhood to prove his point and try to
make a change. The court case that resulted from this stand led to a lot of hostility
from those around the Hansberry family. There was a violent attack on the family s
home by a mob who threw bricks into the house while shouting. Even with this
reaction to the Hansberrys moving into the neighborhood, the family decided to stay
to stand their ground. The court case went all the way to the federal Supreme Court
where the ruling was that this kind of discrimination was unlawful. However,
Chicago continued restrictive covenants anyways and eventually the Hansberry

On Meditation 1, the philosopher Rene Descartes centers on the idea that senses
can not be trusted. Since in the past senses deceived him and let to false beliefs.
Therefore his main concern is to erase all of the false beliefs he held to be true by
analyzing and questioning which of them should be unreliable. Descartes, then,
creates a new belief system in which all of the beliefs are correct.
By doing this, he eliminates the doubt by arguing the possibility of an evil demon
that is capable of deceiving our senses and even the mathematical knowledge we
might have. That is, maybe this evil demon manipulates my thoughts so I can see
only what he wants me to see. It is like that the only existent things in the world are
the evil demon and I. Nothing else around me exists. But can I question things not

Libyan civil war would later pose a direct threat to those in the consulate and CIA
annex on September 11th, 2012. There were four primary players in the events in
Benghazi. The U.S. Department of State (DOS) played a major part as it is the
agency that controls the vast majority of U.S. foreign affairs and controls all of the
embassies and consulates worldwide. Two DOS employees, Ambassador Chris
Stevens and Information Management Officer Sean Smith, perished during the
assault on the compound. Five Diplomatic Security (DS) agents provided security for
the building during the events of that night. In addition to the five DS agents, at least
three 17th of February militia members provided security for the compound the night
of the attack (Kennedy, 2012). However, depending on what is reported, they were
either armed or unarmed at the time of the event (Kennedy, 2012; Zakaria,
Cornwell, Al Shalchi, 2012). Additionally, approximately two miles away, there
was a CIA annex base, equipped with a Quick Response Team (QRT) that could be
dispatched at a moment s notice to help stave off any violent conflict. The two
other American deaths were the ex Naxy SEALS, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods,
who were part of the QRT (Department of State [DOS], 2012). An Al Qaeda affiliate
also had a presence in the country at this time, finding it easy to establish a foothold
in a country rocked

The Steps Of Scientific Method
The scientific method is when you have a specific problem and you go through steps
to try and solve your problem. The steps of scientific method are develop a theory,
check and analyze your theory, explain your hypothesis, and prove your hypothesis.
Whether that hypothesis could be wrong, you can still change it. That is the best
thing about theories, hypothesis, and the scientific method.
An example of the scientific method is my automobile does not crank. I would
check for gas because if there is no gas, then the car will not crank. I put gas in the
car tank and car cranks.
Another example of scientific method is the remote does not work. I will check the
batteries, to see if they are dead. I take out the batteries. Then, I would, find another
set of batteries to replace the old ones. After putting in the new batteries, the remote
works.
A way Scientific method could be used in my everyday life would be when the
computer does not turn on. First, I would check to see if the power plug has been
tampered with or is loose. If the power plug has not been tampered with or been
loose then I would unplug and replug the power cord. This method has not worked
because the computer will still not turn on. So, I will try another method.
Since, that did not work, I will, now, look to see if it is the monitor. I have pressed
the power button. Monitor flashes and the green light appears. So, there is nothing
wrong with the monitor. This method did not work either, so I am going to

Time Travel In Literature From The Anglo-Saxon Period
And...
For a brief moment suppose that time travel exists. A conundrum that has
influenced our movies, our stories, and proved impossible by the laws of physics,
is now a reality. What is the first thing to do: Kill Hitler? Save the Library of
Alexandria? Suppose that a time traveler has a great love for literature, specifically
literature from the Anglo Saxon period and the English Renaissance. These two
periods had vastly different societies, and due to this, vastly different literature. If the
timetraveler were to compare the literature from both periods, they would see that as
time progresses, the themes in the literature from these periods shift from the
bravado of glory and honor to the quieter aspects of life.
While time travel may not be an opportunity at the moment, it is possible to step
into the traveler s shoes by examining the historical context surrounding these
periods. Foremost, the Anglo Saxon period, was a time when brawn, not brains,
won the crown. The Celtic peoples, or Gauls, were loose knit tribal people who
were chased to Great Britain by the Romans, and built Hadrian s Wall to protect
themselves. The Germanic people were very similar to the Celtic people: both
used human sacrifice and had warrior kings. This was a time of the Vikings, for
adventure. It was a time when the old gods Dagda, Lugh, Odin, Thor, and many
others ruled. In the midst of all of this barbarism, it was oddly progressive, as women
could divorce their husbands and own property. As time
