Atheism And The Existence Of God Essay
The question of who bears the burden of proof frequently comes up in debates between theists and
atheists. In some cases, the theists claim that the atheists bear the burden of proof as it is a self evident
fact that God exists. Whereas some atheists would claim that the theists bear the burden of proof since
they are making supernatural claims. In the following essay I will be discussing both opinions on this
matter, and perhaps show how the burden of proof lies on both of them and neither of them.
I will begin this discussion by defining the recurring terms during the discussion on the existence of
God. Traditionally the three attitudes one could hold towards the existence of God are theism, atheism
and agnosticism. The belief in the existence of God or Gods, in specific of one that intervenes in the
matters of the universe is defined as theism (Oxford Dictionaries, English, 2016). Atheism as defined
in the Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy (Spring 2013 Edition) refers to the negation of theism or
in other words, the denial of the existence of God. Agnosticism is referred to one the maintains that
the nothing is known of the belief of God or cannot be known (Oxford Dictionaries, English, 2016). A
burden of proof is seen as an obligation on a party in a dispute to provide sufficient warrant for their
position (En.wikipedia.org, 2016).
In debates on this subject matter, often times when theists are asked for the basis of their belief in
God, they respond that their

Difference Between Interest Groups And Political Parties
According to ushistory.org, there are four types of linkage institutions. Interest groups and political
parties are said to be linkage institutions . In this essay, I will be addressing why it is exactly that
interest groups and political parties fall under the category of linkage institutions, the similarities and
differences between interest groups and political parties, the differences in the roles that interest
groups and political parties play, and which of the two linkage institutions is most important to the
democratic processes. These topics are significant because interest groups and political parties keep
the people involved with government policy by giving people a chance to influence policy in our
country. The main purpose for this essay is to inform the reader of the differences between interest
groups and political parties and how the people can get more involved; more than just simply casting a
vote in elections.
Linkage institutions are defined by Wikipedia as, The structures that connect the people to the
government. According to chapter eight of the book, a political party is defined as, An ongoing
coalition of interests joined together in an effort to get its candidates for public office elected under a
common label. In more simple terms, a political party is a group of like minded individuals that try to
get their candidates, which support their ideas, to get elected. The words individuals and try to get
their candidates elected shows why

Palace Of Versailles Research Paper
I chose to do a virtual tour of the Palace of Versailles. I am fascinated by the royal family so the Palace
of Versailles is deemed suitable because it is the home of the monarchy of France. I began my virtual
tour of the most famous room known as the Hall of Mirrors. As you walk through the room, you can
see chandeliers after chandeliers lined the center of the ceiling and to the sides. The room is structured
like a barrel vault with round arch windows symmetric to the mirrors reflecting the garden. Golden
sculptures of women are placed in between the mirrors against the marble wall. The vaulted ceilings
are covered with illustrations of the success of France painted by Le Brun. He also decorated the
rooms so his artistic vision can be seen everywhere. My initial reaction of the room was that it is very
elegant and magnificent. I ve never seen anything so spectacular before. Every aspect of the room is a
work of art on its own. The paintings that covered the vaulted ceiling were very ... Show more content

This room is dedicated to the military victories. A wall with King Louis XIV on horseback while
defeating his enemies is one of the focus of the room. Surrounding it were trophies and weapons in
bronze color. Below it was two men chained noting the victory of the king. My interpretation of the
statement that Le Brun was trying to make is that he wanted to show that the king is very successful
during his reign because he defeated his enemies and that he was a very powerful man. The room
focuses on the French victories through illustrations on the ceilings. One painting that caught my eyes
were the one with the army floating on clouds showing their victory against their enemies and the
people were celebrating. I was fascinated by this painting because the people had wings and it looked
so mystical. The art is very similar to some characters of mythology and I really like that. The painting

Ender Kill Stilson Quotes
In the book Ender s Game the view on killing in self defense is always shifting and never justifiable.
Firstly, the death stilson could have been avoided and could have been dealt better. The second
instance, the death of bonzo could have been avoided and handled better. Lastly, the genocide of the
buggers was the biggest extent of self defense killing and it could have been avoided and handled
better. These murders could have been avoided if people had taken better measures and this is not
justifiable. The death of Stilson was caused by Ender wiggin, which could have been avoided and
handled better. Ender could have avoided the fight completely or could have just left after knocking
him down but he kept kicking till stilson died. And ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This whole war could have been avoided if the humans had made a real effort to communicate. As if
in answer, he saw the first of all his battles with the bugger fleets. He had seen it before on the
simulator; now he saw it as the hive queen saw it, through many different eyes. The buggers formed
their globe of ships, and then the terrible fighters came out of the darkness and the Little Doctor
destroyed them in a blaze of light. This quote proves the buggers were innocent and made a mistake
thinking we were non intelligent beings. This means that every bugger he killed was an innocent one
and that is a huge regret to bear. This time ender does suffer consequences for killing the buggers. I ll
carry you, said Ender, I ll go from world to world until I find a time and a place where you can come
awake in safety. And I ll tell your story to my people, so that perhaps in time they can forgive you, too.
The way that you ve forgiven me. This quote proves that ender has a promise to fulfill and he owes the
buggers his future because he took away theirs. He suffers huge emotional pain because of killing
millions of innocent lives. There flashed through his mind a dozen images of human beings being
killed by buggers, but with the image came a grief so powerful he could not bear it, and he wept their
tears for them. This quote proves that there is a lot

Global Warming Is A Real Phenomenon
INTRODUCTION
Global warming has become a central problem in the scientific community, while viewed as more of a
severe problem by some people and policy makers than other, the consensus in the scientific
community is that global warming is a very real phenomenon. Although the global warming is still
debated as far as how fast and severe the problem is, scientific data has shown that the average global
temperature has increased by 0.4 to 0.8 Celsius during the last 100 years
(http://www.livescience.com/, 02 18 2016).
Sustainable development is a central concept within the environmental frame of thought and closely
linked to the problem of global warming. The term sustainable development refers to the use of
resources in a sustainable way, namely meeting the need of resources while not depleting them for
future generations. The concept of sustainable development contains both needs and limitations, i.e.
resources that are needed as well as technological and social limitations in responsible retrieval of
those resources (World Commission on Environment and Development, 41).
Achieving sustainable development is however a difficult problem that has many different aspects to
it. Recycling is a main component of sustainable development and an important aspect in a variety of
industries. Metal exists in almost every industry, whether it is the manufacture of steel beams,
precious metals for computers or copper cables for powerlines. Considering that metal recycling is a

Analysis Of The Book Emerald City Essay
Some stories can impact a culture so universally, that there is no longer a way to say a phrase without
immediately making a connection. The automatic finish to yellow brick is road and there can never be
a book that has a City of Emeralds because we would all think it was a reference to L. Frank Baum s
Emerald City. This pseudo magical city, and its represenÂŹtation in any given version of The Wizard of
Oz, provides a very specific insight into the cultural views of the time period it was created during and
the people who formed that specific creative vision. For Baum, the Emerald City was a representation
of how little we can trust the government in spite of its good intentions; Fleming s 1939 film
emphasizes the benefits of home by displaying more faith in the government; and Lumet s 1978 film
plummets into a general disenfranchisement with the ubiquitous establishment.
The original Emerald City of Baum s Wonderful Wizard of Oz was marketed not only as the home of
OZ the Great and Terrible, but also as a utopia for the citizens of Oz to live within and prosper.
However, this façade crumbles at the end of the book when Dorothy and her friends discover that the
green of the Emerald City is no more [green] than any other city (Baum 153) and the entire city is a
hoax of green eye glasses. While many see Baum s Emerald City s fallible nature as a commentary on
the use of dollar bills based from a gold standard, it can also be interpreted as commentary on the
ideas of

Western And Byzantine Church Similarities
The bold movement of Christianity and the slow fall of the Roman Empire constituted a new phase in
Rome and the birth of the Eastern and Western Churches that left a profound place in Western history.
The relationship of the Byzantine Church to the Romans was one that was growing indifferent during
the 5th thru 11th century of the Middle Ages. During this time three bishops stood forth from the
political with great superiority among the cities in which they ruled. The transfer of the seat of empire

Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Stages Of Development
In 1963, the psychology theorist Erik Erikson, developed the idea that each life stage has a
psychosocial task that they must conquer. I was given the opportunity to observe his theory on my
own through a series of interviews. The first person that I interviewed was an adolescent, whose
psychosocial developmental conflict is between identity and role confusion. The next person that I
interviewed was a young adult, whose conflict is between intimacy. The next person that I interviewed
was of middle adulthood, whose crisis is between generativity and stagnation. Finally, I interviewed a
woman in the stage of late adulthood, whose crisis is integrity versus despair. Ultimately, I was able to

constantly changing, family and friends are always a constant love and need, and determination to
succeed is always important. While I was skeptical at first, this project ended up being a very

A Book Bum Rush The Page By Teri Ellen Cross
In the world we live in there are multiple definitions of what beauty is. However is it right to deemed a
certain skin color more beautiful than the other? In our history we are taught that being a white
complexion has many advantages, and that being a dark complexion is a shame. Although that is
history, in our world today believe it or not individuals are still subjected to discrimination because of
their skin color. In a book called Bum Rush The Page , a poem called Complected written by Teri
Ellen Cross, the author indicates the clear epidemic problem of racism and identity that is occurring
nationwide today.
The title of the poem Complected gives off a pessimistic tone. The word itself is not a real word, I
believe that the author got this title by piecing the word complexion and complicated together. The
two words completely define the racial discrimination dark complexion individuals encounter. Skin
complexion should not be a complicated matter anymore especially considering our history and all the
terrible acts that s been done. But yet today, our skin color seems to be the only thing that identifies us,
and not what we do or what we have achieved.
The author of the poem writes about two young girls and she is also comparing them as they stand
next to each other side by side. The main focus of the poem is the first girl she starts off writing about,
which is also the one that is not Venus ( line 10). This girl has a dark complexion, we know this

Character Differences Between Hushpuppy And Chihiro
Hushpuppy and Chihiro are two of the most important and effective characters in their films. They
both try to survive in a world that they don t know anything about, and the people around them are
trying to help them. Hushpuppy is a 6 years old child that lives with her father in the bathhouse. Her
mother left her, that s what her father tells her every time she asks. She helps her father in everything
that he needs help in, he usually treats her as a 14 years old girl who needs to know about everything
and know how to do anything so she can survive in her life. Chihiro is a little girl who was lost in a
world of wonders, which was dangerous and good at the same time. She tried to save her identity by
believing that she is going to go back to the normal world and live with her parents. The first thing
that made Chihiro feel that she halves to work hard when she meet Yubaba You re called Chihiro?
That name is too long and hard to pronounce from now on you ll be called Sen. You got that? You are

State Of The Essay
State of the Essay
The thing about these essays is that the problems I encounter with them are twofold. It s like that
scene in Jurassic Park where they realize that they have all the problems of a major zoo and a major
amusement park. First, I have to worry about the time managment piece. When students wait until the
last minute to do the work it s generally not very good or it s incomplete or both...probably both. That
is a self discipline issue that is completely removed from what I m actually trained to teach my
students. My hands are tied when I m confronted with this.
The second problem is the problem that I actually enjoy dealing with; writing. This problem is
multifaceted and fascinating. Working together at the task of becoming better writers is actually fun. I
ve seen it become fun for other people. It s not just me. As I stated, the writing problem is multi
faceted but those facets generally reside in one of three categories: content, form, and technicality. The
content of a 110 student s paper includes the personal narrative, the universal, and the academic. I ve
tried to explain the prompt a dozen different ways , but the one that has the best track record is this
one: Think of a moment where you had an epiphany about life and what it meant to live it...what it
meant to be you and why it meant that...something you learned about yourself that may benefit others
in the telling. It sounds pretty good, but it s still inadequate. It still elicits

Compare And Contrast Rastafarianism And Buddhism
Around the world there are countless religions being practiced, and each retains their own set of
viewpoints on topics discussed throughout history. Today the two religions of focus are Rastafarianism
and Buddhism, and the topics are ecology, sustainability, and the environment. Whereas Buddhism
and Rastafarianism appear quite different in their terms of environmental greed, they show important
similarities in their values on sustainability and the physical environment. Before discussing their
values, a brief history on each religion, as one is widely known while the other has a much smaller
following. Buddhism began with the enlightenment of Buddha, at the early age of thirty five he awoke
from the sleep of delusion and chose to share his liberation with those whom he used to suffer with.
By the time he passed away, 435 BCE, his teachings termed Dharma were well known throughout
central India. After the rainy season following his death, his disciple Mahakashyapa gathered his most
dedicated followers to establish what they had learned and begin the widespread dispersion of
Buddhism. Sherab Chodzin Kohn, writer for Buddhism for beginners magazine, states that: Ananda,
the Buddha s personal attendant, recited all the Buddha s discourses (sutras), naming the place where
each was given and describing the circumstances. A monk named Upali recited all the rules and
procedures the Buddha had established for the conduct of monastic life. Mahakashyapa himself
recited the matrika,

Edo Period
Japan is not only a major economic power, it is one of the most economically developed countries in
the world. Japan s economic development begun between the 12th and 17th century, in a period of
time that the Japanese refer to as the Edo period. Although specific economic structures didn t exist at
the time, the conditions, both socially and politically, set the Japanese up for a later successful
industrialization and modernization. During the Edo period, the ruling government was known as the
bakufu. The bakufu had absolute political power over smaller, local governments, however, they
lacked a consistent economic stance. Therefore, the local governments, known as the han, were
allowed to decide how their people would be taxed, and how administration would work, along with
education, industrialization, and issuing paper currency as long as it was not directly prohibited by the

Many peasants worked on farmlands, from which they were usually taxed rice, and although they
were not officially allowed to leave, many relocated to avoid high tax burdens. Agricultural
expansions led to various rebellious acts from farmers who were unhappy with taxes, government

mining, foreign trade, and financial contributions from merchants seeking monopoly and cartel rights.
Due to an increasing economy and the demand of resources from merchants, the government had to
resort to printing a financial currency, which leads to inflation, increase taxes and cut spending.
Towards the end of the Edo period, the bakufu monopolized foreign trade, rendering it impossible for
any Japanese to leave Japan and gain knowledge or trade with other countries. After much

Another Boring Assembly Was In The Making As I Walked Into
Another boring assembly was in the making as I walked into my junior high school gymnasium. My
best friend at the time, Kelsey, was very excited because the Valencia high school color guard was
going to perform one of their routines in an attempt to get people to join the team. She was already on
the guard, hence her motivation to attend this assembly. Before this point, I did not know color guard
even existed. According to Kelsey, color guard is a performing art in which a team performs a dance
routine centered around the use of flags, rifles, and sabers. Both her insistence and the awe inspiring
performance of the guard moved me to join the team my freshman year of high school. Even though

In the end, we did not get into the top tier and did not win any awards that year. The head instructors
even chose to not criticize me for my drastic mistake, for they all knew it was all over and I was in a
dismal state of mind anyway. From that championship on, I had to work especially hard to reclaim the
trust of my instructors. Looking back, I can see now how hard it is to get someone s trust back once it
is lost. I practiced relentlessly throughout high school and was the best person on the saber line. Or I
would have been the best, but I could never be consistent, which is one of the most important skills to
have in color guard. I would throw my saber and catch a difficult toss ten times in a row perfectly,
then the next day drop it three times. Due to the inconsistency, as well as my history of crumbling
under pressure, my instructors would not allow me another solo toss on my color guard team again.
My experience has left a scar in my mind, to which I owe my persistence to not make promises I
cannot keep. The best way to keep someone s trust is to not break your promises to them. I
inadvertently made a promise to my instructors that they could trust me to catch my toss in our show
when all focus is centered on me. I let them down, therefore I was left to deal with the consequences.
Due to my hard work, I eventually came to prove to my instructors that I could toss beautiful tosses,

Significance Of The Mustard Seed Parable
Significance of the Growing Seed and Mustard Seed Parables
The growing and mustard seed parables expound upon the soils parable provided earlier in the book of
Mark. Once the suitability of the soils is described, the human and divine roles in the process of
growing the kingdom of God are interpreted. Subsequently the inevitable harvest and abundant growth
of the kingdom of God is depicted.
Human Responsibility
As described in the growing seed parable, the sower has no divine identity in the text. This is
evidenced with the use of the term used, man , and the activity, or the lack of activity, by the sower
after the seed is spread upon the ground. The sower is described as sleeping during the night and
displays no activity during the day toward the seed (4:27). The lack of divine identity of the sower is
also evidenced with the provision that as the seed begins to grow, he himself does not know how
(4:27). It is not logical to argue that an omniscient God would not understand how a seed would grow.
Notwithstanding, it is logical to determine that a human sower does not ... Show more content on

Jesus connects the inevitable growth of the seed by the power of God in preceding parable and the
growth of the mustard. The growth of the mustard seed is symbolic of the spread of God s word and
the growth of the kingdom. Though at the time of the parable being taught the kingdom would seem
minuscule to the small rag tag group of disciples, inevitably the kingdom would grow to a glorious
stature with the climax arriving at Christ s second coming when the kingdom surpasses all others in
power, glory, and majesty . The mustard seed displays the small beginnings of the kingdom,
something the disciples being taught by Jesus would recognize, into the picture of the inevitable

Examples Of Moral Philosophy
Moral Philosophy is the rational study of the meaning and justification of moral claims. A moral claim
evaluates the rightness or wrongness of an action or a person s character . For example, stealing is
wrong claims that the act of stealing is wrong, and people should not be dishonest claims a character
trait (i.e. dishonesty) is wrong (Gert and Gert). Descriptively, morality refers to certain codes of
conduct put forward by a society or a group (such as a religion) or accepted by an individual for
his/her own behavior. Normatively, it refers to a code of conduct that, given specified conditions,
would be put forward by all rational persons. ( What Is Moral Philosophy? ).

Subjectivism, which implies that an individual s thoughts and feelings determine moral actions; as

determining right and wrong is in accordance with one s self interest. Also, that it is immoral to act
contrary to one s own self interest. Thirdly, some individuals agree that culture determines what
actions are morally right or wrong; and are advocates of Cultural Relativism. Their actions are not

characterized in terms of acting in accordance with the traditional virtues; making a good person . (

translates into fabulous desired outcomes both online and offline for your business that s more of
formal definition of web analytics. Avinash Kaushik Author, Digital Marketing Evangelist
Web analytics is not about just logging into google analytics, Facebook insights, adobe web trends or
IBM and analyzing all the quantitative data you have related to the clicks and that is a big component
of analytics all about. But it s also about answering question about why people do what they do and
that s what sort of qualitative analysis around surveys, usability tests and those things come into
equation where the cool thing about the web is not only that you can analyze your own performance.
You can actually analyze how your competitors are doing.
If you are competing with somebody on the web, you can go and get their data and understand how
they are successful or not and learn lessons what they are doing and go figure out how to change your
strategy in turn. In short, if I summarize few points to define web analytics:
Qualitative and Quantitative Analytics
Web Analytics is about qualitative as well as quantitative data
Competitor data
It s possible to analyze your competitor s data and compare it to your own
Customer intent
Web analytics can also reveal how hesitant or eager visitors are

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus And Mellitus
Introduction:
Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that occurs when insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas are
damaged or are being destroyed (Mahan, Escott Stump Raymond, 2012). The gradual destruction of
the beta cells of the pancreas usually leads to complete insulin deficiency, which ultimately manifests
itself in the following symptoms at clinical onset: high blood glucose (hyperglycemia), frequent
urination (polyuria), excessive thirst (polydipsia), and a significant amount of weight loss,
dehydration, electrolyte disturbances and ketoacidosis , requiring dependency of exogenous insulin in
order to promote optimal glycemic control in order to prevent further more severe complications; such
as, ketoacidosis, microvascular diseases, macrovascular diseases, neuropathy, or worse Death (Mahan
et al., 2012). Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus can result from two existing forms: 1. Immune mediated
diabetes Mellitus, which is characterized by autoimmune destruction of the beta cells of the pancreas
and an idiopathic (unknown cause) commonly seen in ethnic groups of African or Asian descent
(Mahan et al., 2012). Of all diagnosed diabetes cases, prevalence of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus cases
account for 5% 10%, and although onset may present itself at any age, 70% of cases are diagnosed in
young adults (younger than age 30), with a peak in occurring incidences seen mostly in children and
adolescents (Mahan et al., 2012). In the United States, approximately 1 in every 400

Meaning Of Happiness
There s no question that everyone wants to be happy within their lives. The only source of
disagreement lies within how one achieves happiness and what happiness really means. The authors
within the book Pursuing Happiness have their own meanings of happiness and what it takes to
achieve happiness. Topics such as: what happiness is, what brings happiness, what role does money
play in happiness, etc. In this first discussion, we see what the some of the authors have to say about
the meaning of happiness. Someone such as his Holiness the Dalai Lama would argue that happiness
is having peace and satisfaction within one s mind. As a tibetan monk, he believe that happiness
occurs within the self (Dalai Lama and Cutler 23). In contrast, Thomas Jefferson would explain that
happiness is actually the opportunity to freely choose one s path within life. Freedom, in eyes, would
be the embodiment of freedom (Declaration of Independence). In would also argue that happiness
stems from the feeling of self worth, that you have a place within this world. As we see here, the true
meaning of happiness all depends on the person. There is no right or wrong answer because we each
perceive happiness in a different manner. This is important because it also means that there are
different opinions in which someone can achieve happiness. When it comes to achieving happiness,
there are two things to consider; physical and spiritual. Some people believe that happiness can come
from material

King Isaac s Coat Of Many Colors
King Isaac s Coat of Many Colors
African societies have a widely held public opinion that artists, especially reggae artists are either
illiterates or take marijuana or other substances of abuse. As much as such stereotypes hold for some,
here is a man whose career has broken the barriers of such stereotypes.
As the door to the music studio opens, a neatly dressed, huge man of about 5 90 tall, and seemingly in
his early 50s, walks in. Call him King Isaac.
This is one of the rare occasions when he will allow a journalist to follow him to the studio.
With a notebook in hand, he sits and scribbles a few sentences and then move to the drums. As he
nods and taps, the rhythms of the reggae base drum sounds out. He whistles and moves over ... Show

What attracted him to music?
My interest grew when Bob Marley came in 1980. He had done a song called Zimbabwe,
commemorating our struggle for independence and our government invited him and he opened a
floodgate of reggae music, he recalls.
The youngster s inspiration and he soon changed his poetic messages of black pride, justice, love and
equality, to lyrics. I asked him why he switched to reggae.
The euphoria for independence, black liberation, those were the basic corner stones of the
Zimbabwean experience at that time, and the music was great.
Joining a local band made debut for him and recorded his first gig, Simuka , a reggae ice about the
liberation struggle in South Africa, in 1986. Simultaneously, he was studying for a Bachelor s degree
in Economic History and History at the University of Zimbabwe.
Listening to and admiring Jamaican reggae artist, I became a purist , he tells me. I felt the reggae of
Africans was diluted
Despite the early taste of success, King Isaac knew staying local might not be enough for him to make
it big. So, he looked for a way to get Jamaica. However, he cannot live in Jamaica because he has no
job or residence permit.
A scholarship opportunity in 1991 to study for masters and Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology at Indiana
University, and he grabs it.
Coming to the U.S. I knew I would get money to go and record in Jamaica. It brought me closer to
Jamaica. Some people might think it s a

A Look at Microsoft Access
A Look at Microsoft Access
Introduction
Team A of DBM/405 has chosen to look at Microsoft Access. This paper will examine Microsoft
Access and its capabilities and benefits. It should show that Microsoft Access is one of the easiest user
friendly database and cost effective database applications today. This paper will also examine the use
of Access for a business called Parrothead Productions. It is a small one man operation, which is a
remote disc jockey business.
The Capabilities of Microsoft Access
Microsoft Access database gives you true command of your data, enabling you to retrieve it, sort it,
analyze it, summarize it, and report results in moments. It can combine data from various files, so that
you never have to enter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You may be considering migrating (upsizing) your database to SQL Server because:
a) As the number of users increases, the file sharing mechanism of a Microsoft Access database may
result in a slower performance and increased network traffic. The client/server environment of
Microsoft SQL Server is designed for a large number of users and minimizing network traffic.
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 can support databases of up to 2 terabytes in size.
b) SQL Server 2000 is an XML enabled database server that allows you to access the server through a
URL, and to write and retrieve data as XML documents. Integration of Microsoft SQL Server s
security with the security of a Microsoft Windows NTÂź or Microsoft WindowsÂź 2000 network allows
easier administration of complex network security settings.
c) SQL Server can be backed up and restored dynamically while the database is in use. Users do not
have to close the database while the daily backup is performed. In addition, the process of transaction
logging makes it possible to restore the database up to the point of failure.
The Benefits of Microsoft Access
Microsoft Access has a number of benefits that go beyond the basic capabilities of a database that are
worth discussing. Of course, the primary one that comes to mind is the fact that Access is a Microsoft

Animal Testing Is Inhumane
Animal Testing
Animals are man s best friend; this is what most people claim, but do they really mean it? Animal
testing is widely used nowadays and this method has been used long time ago. Some people agree that
animal testing is useful and has some benefits as it helps in discovering new medicines and its side
effects so by this method it helps in saving humans lives and some animals too. Animal testing is so
inhumane due to the physical pain and cruelty the animals face, some experiments are misleading and
some are useless.
One of the most important problems in animal testing is that they have to face pain that they cannot
bear. Some are kept in really undersized captivity with little amount of food, to satisfy the necessities
of the testing process, animals may be force fed, dispossessed of food or water for prolonged periods
of time, or physically controlled against their will. While it s inaccurate to declare that all animal
testing is cruel experiments that impose pain upon animals or at the very least put those through an
unlikable incident can arise without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, there is no reason to believe that animal testing is a compulsory factor of achieving new
medical insight. It has led to many discoveries in the past, but only since it was one of the only
methods humans were using formerly. As the years have passed, many treatments and cures have been
discovered without involving animals at all, and in fact the results may be more reliable this way
.Animal testing can be used rarely but at least can be only used for the really significant issues as
animals are part of our lives and they have all the right to be treated

Arab Americans Have Been Targets Of Discrimination Long
Arab Americans have been targets of discrimination long before the 9/11 event happened. If they are
immigrants in America, they are seen as bombers or terrorists. And if they are American citizens, they
are seen as spies. The way Arabs are portrayed in Hollywood movies have been reflected in the way
the government and society as a whole view them. And the way Americans show their discrimination
is by rejecting or denying Arabs in all aspects of society which makes it harder for them to succeed.
Overall, Arab Americans are seen as dangerous and threatening to Americans. Because they were
being harassed all the time, they have a harder time adapting and participating in the American
society. All young Americans have a hard time finding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Al Khazraji claimed that he was denied tenure because Saint Francis College racially discriminated
against him. He never said he is Caucasian. The college assumed he is Caucasian just like how
Westerners think they can recognize Arabs or other orientalists. Although the reason why Al Khazraji
was denied a permanent spot in the faculty was not stated, there could be many reasons the college
could give to the professor. The one reasoning we can all think of that may explain the injustice denial
of tenure is the constant fear for Arabs. The important question was whether Arabs could sue under 42
U.S.C 1981 or not. The Supreme Court ruled that Al Khazraji had the right to file against the college
as a person with Arabian ancestry. In the end, the college was not able to give a reasonable reason as
to why the college professor was denied tenure. They wouldn t been able to be totally honest because
they are afraid of being seen as outright biased against Arab Americans. After the 9/11 attacks, Arab
Americans have reported more occurrences of hate crime and racial discrimination in employment.
Researchers Daniel Widner and Stephen Chicoine conducted a research project where they randomly
picked out typical white sounding names and typical Arab sounding names from reliable sources for
fictitious résumés. For the past 15 months, they sent out résumés to 265 jobs. The objective of this

Comparing The Prague Spring And The Polish Solidarity...
Movements like the Prague Spring and the Polish Solidarity movement were rooted in frustration over
economic and social conditions in nations in the socialist bloc. The Prague Spring was ignited by
reforms made by new party chief and President Alexander Dubček. Dubček s reforms were intended
to address the disconnect between Soviet policy and Czechoslovakian life and to create new policies
to build socialism in a Czechoslovakian context. In his Action Program , Dubček s central concern
appears to be with the lack of liberties in society, especially in regards to freedom of expression. He
wanted to introduce complete freedom of speech and the free expression of political opinions and
ensure that they were constitutional guarantees and protected against influence from state agencies.

The Solidarity movement also addressed something they called dignity of the person of man and it
related to how current social conditions and actions of the government prevented an individual from
leading a dignified life. While the government could barely meet the basic needs of food, clothing, and
housing at a bare minimum, there were social and cultural needs that were completely ignored and
prevented the public from establishing an identity outside of the state and state ideology. The
Solidarity movement aimed to expand the participation of the working class through total democracy.
The members of the Solidarity movement wanted to eliminate what had become a feature of socialist
society, lack of fulfillment of constitutional guarantees and ensure the protection of civil liberties. An
important feature of the Solidarity movement was a desire for an economic overhaul with a return to a
market based system and freedom for the restrictions of state

Richard Lerderer s Influence Of The English Language
Some of the examples Richard Lerderer gives to explain the widespread influence of the English
language are English has acquired the largest vocabulary of all the world s languages . He Also says
half of the world s books are written in English, and majority of international calls are made in English
. Another important example is that English is universally spoken. I do believe that English is a crazy
language. It is a language that is constantly being changed as far as the urban dictionary is concerned.
Phrases are used by younger people that are not literal. For example Lerderer says How can a Slim
chance and a fat chance be the same? Slim chance is a catch phrase that most English speakers use to
describe less of a chance. If you look it up in a dictionary you will not find it there. Chance are you
will find it in the urban dictionary. It is not proper English, but if you say it to someone that is fluent in
the English language they will know exactly what you mean. ... Show more content on

It also has so many different aspects to it, English can be spoken properly and improperly depending
of how you use it. Lerderer gives different examples so that we can understand it. How it can be
misinterpreted by someone who is learning English and doesn t understand the diversity of the English
language, depending on their society. Yes I do believe that Lerderer s essay represents the principal
because although the words of the English language are the same even when writing a formal essay

Essay On The Tragedy Of King Lear
Up until the mid point of his career, Shakespeare divided his plays between the three major genres:
Comedy, Tragedy, and History. The tragic genre is perhaps the oldest genre in literature, dating back to
the ancient Greeks. It started with the ancient Greek celebrations of Dionysus, the god of wine and
fertility. The very simple plot of a tragedy involves a protagonist who desires something which could
be a lover, power, wealth, authority, and obstacles come in his way as he reaches its fulfillment.
However, After undergoing a series of challenges, the protagonist does not overcome the obstacles,
which eventually lead to his downfall and destroy him. That is apparent in the Shakespearean Tragedy
as tragedy does not only mean death or calamity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The full title of the play itself The Tragedy of King Lear puts the play in the tragic genre. As with all
tragedies, there exists a tragic hero, one who possesses a fatal flaw that initiates the tragedy and all the
sufferings that follow. King Lear, king of England, would be the tragic hero because he held the
highest position in the social chain at the very beginning of the play. His social position gave him
pride as he remarked himself as Jupiter and Apollo . Moreover, according to the definition of a tragic
hero, one must be born into nobility, endowed with a tragic flaw, fail to judge, fall from great heights,
being aware that they have made an inevitable mistake, and faces and accepts death with honor. King
Lear meets all of these qualities. King Lear was a tragic hero that was born into nobility, endowed
with a tragic flaw and fails as he makes a serious mistake in judgement. He owned vast amounts of
land and ruled over many people. Give me the map there. know that we have divided In three our
Kingdom.
The plot is driven by the power and consequence of losses, more specifically, the losses of King Lear.
Throughout the play, because of his flaws, King Lear loses his authority as a king, his identity as a
father, and his sanity as a man. One loss becomes related to one another. Moreover, his greatest loss,

George W. Bush s `` Fascist America `` And 10 Easy Steps...
Imagine one morning, waking up and realizing that the country you used to know as the land of the
free, was not free anymore. That your freedom of speech had been stripped away a long time ago.
Imagine realizing that your right to vote and the right to have a say in the government had been
gradually replaced by a dictatorship, and you were just now noticing it. In the 2007 article, Fascist
America, in 10 Easy Steps Naomi Wolf argues that the Bush administration had begun to implement
the ten steps to take down a democratic nation. The article addresses the ten steps that are basically a
blueprint for turning an open society into a dictatorship (Wolf). Naomi Wolf compares past policies
that dictators have enacted to 2007 American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The overall threat is usually spun so that a majority of the citizens experience the fear it is meant to
create. A big part of creating this fear is deciding on what words to use when presenting the enemy to
the public. The language used to convey the nature of the threat is different in a country such as Spain
than it is in America (Wolf). For example, the citizens of Spain are told that there is a grave security
threat whereas American citizens are lead to believe, that we are potentially threatened with the end of
civilization. Of course, this makes us [Americans] more willing to accept restrictions on our freedoms
(Wolf). The tactic of using different words to feed off larger fears of the public allows the leader to
control a larger majority. It also allows them to exaggerate the fears of the nation by using more
frightening and drastic words.
Trump terrifies people into supporting him by preaching the horrors of the world and then promising
them protection from the violence. (Donald Trump s Campaign of Fear) This fear tactic has been used
by many dictators in the past, because it is so easily enacted. The leader presents an immediate danger
to the public and then promises safety to whoever promises to support them. Most of the time a
majority of the public supports the leader; they trade their discontent for the promise of safety. This
willingness to give up something as important as your say in the government, for the feeling of safety,

  • 2. Atheism And The Existence Of God Essay The question of who bears the burden of proof frequently comes up in debates between theists and atheists. In some cases, the theists claim that the atheists bear the burden of proof as it is a self evident fact that God exists. Whereas some atheists would claim that the theists bear the burden of proof since they are making supernatural claims. In the following essay I will be discussing both opinions on this matter, and perhaps show how the burden of proof lies on both of them and neither of them. I will begin this discussion by defining the recurring terms during the discussion on the existence of God. Traditionally the three attitudes one could hold towards the existence of God are theism, atheism and agnosticism. The belief in the existence of God or Gods, in specific of one that intervenes in the matters of the universe is defined as theism (Oxford Dictionaries, English, 2016). Atheism as defined in the Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy (Spring 2013 Edition) refers to the negation of theism or in other words, the denial of the existence of God. Agnosticism is referred to one the maintains that the nothing is known of the belief of God or cannot be known (Oxford Dictionaries, English, 2016). A burden of proof is seen as an obligation on a party in a dispute to provide sufficient warrant for their position (En.wikipedia.org, 2016). In debates on this subject matter, often times when theists are asked for the basis of their belief in God, they respond that their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Difference Between Interest Groups And Political Parties According to ushistory.org, there are four types of linkage institutions. Interest groups and political parties are said to be linkage institutions . In this essay, I will be addressing why it is exactly that interest groups and political parties fall under the category of linkage institutions, the similarities and differences between interest groups and political parties, the differences in the roles that interest groups and political parties play, and which of the two linkage institutions is most important to the democratic processes. These topics are significant because interest groups and political parties keep the people involved with government policy by giving people a chance to influence policy in our country. The main purpose for this essay is to inform the reader of the differences between interest groups and political parties and how the people can get more involved; more than just simply casting a vote in elections. Linkage institutions are defined by Wikipedia as, The structures that connect the people to the government. According to chapter eight of the book, a political party is defined as, An ongoing coalition of interests joined together in an effort to get its candidates for public office elected under a common label. In more simple terms, a political party is a group of like minded individuals that try to get their candidates, which support their ideas, to get elected. The words individuals and try to get their candidates elected shows why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Palace Of Versailles Research Paper I chose to do a virtual tour of the Palace of Versailles. I am fascinated by the royal family so the Palace of Versailles is deemed suitable because it is the home of the monarchy of France. I began my virtual tour of the most famous room known as the Hall of Mirrors. As you walk through the room, you can see chandeliers after chandeliers lined the center of the ceiling and to the sides. The room is structured like a barrel vault with round arch windows symmetric to the mirrors reflecting the garden. Golden sculptures of women are placed in between the mirrors against the marble wall. The vaulted ceilings are covered with illustrations of the success of France painted by Le Brun. He also decorated the rooms so his artistic vision can be seen everywhere. My initial reaction of the room was that it is very elegant and magnificent. I ve never seen anything so spectacular before. Every aspect of the room is a work of art on its own. The paintings that covered the vaulted ceiling were very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This room is dedicated to the military victories. A wall with King Louis XIV on horseback while defeating his enemies is one of the focus of the room. Surrounding it were trophies and weapons in bronze color. Below it was two men chained noting the victory of the king. My interpretation of the statement that Le Brun was trying to make is that he wanted to show that the king is very successful during his reign because he defeated his enemies and that he was a very powerful man. The room focuses on the French victories through illustrations on the ceilings. One painting that caught my eyes were the one with the army floating on clouds showing their victory against their enemies and the people were celebrating. I was fascinated by this painting because the people had wings and it looked so mystical. The art is very similar to some characters of mythology and I really like that. The painting was very powerful in conveying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ender Kill Stilson Quotes In the book Ender s Game the view on killing in self defense is always shifting and never justifiable. Firstly, the death stilson could have been avoided and could have been dealt better. The second instance, the death of bonzo could have been avoided and handled better. Lastly, the genocide of the buggers was the biggest extent of self defense killing and it could have been avoided and handled better. These murders could have been avoided if people had taken better measures and this is not justifiable. The death of Stilson was caused by Ender wiggin, which could have been avoided and handled better. This whole war could have been avoided if the humans had made a real effort to communicate. As if in answer, he saw the first of all his battles with the bugger fleets. He had seen it before on the simulator; now he saw it as the hive queen saw it, through many different eyes. The buggers formed their globe of ships, and then the terrible fighters came out of the darkness and the Little Doctor destroyed them in a blaze of light. This quote proves the buggers were innocent and made a mistake thinking we were non intelligent beings. This means that every bugger he killed was an innocent one and that is a huge regret to bear. This time ender does suffer consequences for killing the buggers. I ll carry you, said Ender, I ll go from world to world until I find a time and a place where you can come awake in safety. And I ll tell your story to my people, so that perhaps in time they can forgive you, too. The way that you ve forgiven me. This quote proves that ender has a promise to fulfill and he owes the buggers his future because he took away theirs. He suffers huge emotional pain because of killing millions of innocent lives. There flashed through his mind a dozen images of human beings being killed by buggers, but with the image came a grief so powerful he could not bear it, and he wept their tears for them. • 6. Global Warming Is A Real Phenomenon INTRODUCTION Global warming has become a central problem in the scientific community, while viewed as more of a severe problem by some people and policy makers than other, the consensus in the scientific community is that global warming is a very real phenomenon. Although the global warming is still debated as far as how fast and severe the problem is, scientific data has shown that the average global temperature has increased by 0.4 to 0.8 Celsius during the last 100 years (http://www.livescience.com/, 02 18 2016). Sustainable development is a central concept within the environmental frame of thought and closely linked to the problem of global warming. The term sustainable development refers to the use of resources in a sustainable way, namely meeting the need of resources while not depleting them for future generations. The concept of sustainable development contains both needs and limitations, i.e. resources that are needed as well as technological and social limitations in responsible retrieval of those resources (World Commission on Environment and Development, 41). Achieving sustainable development is however a difficult problem that has many different aspects to it. Recycling is a main component of sustainable development and an important aspect in a variety of industries. Metal exists in almost every industry, whether it is the manufacture of steel beams, precious metals for computers or copper cables for powerlines. Considering that metal recycling is a source to ... • 7. Analysis Of The Book Emerald City Essay Some stories can impact a culture so universally, that there is no longer a way to say a phrase without immediately making a connection. The automatic finish to yellow brick is road and there can never be a book that has a City of Emeralds because we would all think it was a reference to L. Frank Baum s Emerald City. This pseudo magical city, and its represenÂŹtation in any given version of The Wizard of Oz, provides a very specific insight into the cultural views of the time period it was created during and the people who formed that specific creative vision. For Baum, the Emerald City was a representation of how little we can trust the government in spite of its good intentions; Fleming s 1939 film emphasizes the benefits of home by displaying more faith in the government; and Lumet s 1978 film plummets into a general disenfranchisement with the ubiquitous establishment. The original Emerald City of Baum s Wonderful Wizard of Oz was marketed not only as the home of OZ the Great and Terrible, but also as a utopia for the citizens of Oz to live within and prosper. However, this façade crumbles at the end of the book when Dorothy and her friends discover that the green of the Emerald City is no more [green] than any other city (Baum 153) and the entire city is a hoax of green eye glasses. While many see Baum s Emerald City s fallible nature as a commentary on the use of dollar bills based from a gold standard, it can also be interpreted as commentary on the ideas of ... The next person that I interviewed was a young adult, whose conflict is between intimacy. • 10. A Book Bum Rush The Page By Teri Ellen Cross In the world we live in there are multiple definitions of what beauty is. However is it right to deemed a certain skin color more beautiful than the other? In our history we are taught that being a white complexion has many advantages, and that being a dark complexion is a shame. Although that is history, in our world today believe it or not individuals are still subjected to discrimination because of their skin color. In a book called Bum Rush The Page , a poem called Complected written by Teri Ellen Cross, the author indicates the clear epidemic problem of racism and identity that is occurring nationwide today. The title of the poem Complected gives off a pessimistic tone. The word itself is not a real word, I believe that the author got this title by piecing the word complexion and complicated together. The two words completely define the racial discrimination dark complexion individuals encounter. Skin complexion should not be a complicated matter anymore especially considering our history and all the terrible acts that s been done. But yet today, our skin color seems to be the only thing that identifies us, and not what we do or what we have achieved. The author of the poem writes about two young girls and she is also comparing them as they stand next to each other side by side. The main focus of the poem is the first girl she starts off writing about, which is also the one that is not Venus ( line 10). This girl has a dark complexion, we know this ... • 12. State Of The Essay State of the Essay The thing about these essays is that the problems I encounter with them are twofold. It s like that scene in Jurassic Park where they realize that they have all the problems of a major zoo and a major amusement park. First, I have to worry about the time managment piece. When students wait until the last minute to do the work it s generally not very good or it s incomplete or both...probably both. That is a self discipline issue that is completely removed from what I m actually trained to teach my students. My hands are tied when I m confronted with this. The second problem is the problem that I actually enjoy dealing with; writing. This problem is multifaceted and fascinating. Working together at the task of becoming better writers is actually fun. I ve seen it become fun for other people. It s not just me. As I stated, the writing problem is multi faceted but those facets generally reside in one of three categories: content, form, and technicality. The content of a 110 student s paper includes the personal narrative, the universal, and the academic. I ve tried to explain the prompt a dozen different ways , but the one that has the best track record is this one: Think of a moment where you had an epiphany about life and what it meant to live it...what it meant to be you and why it meant that...something you learned about yourself that may benefit others in the telling. • 13. Compare And Contrast Rastafarianism And Buddhism Around the world there are countless religions being practiced, and each retains their own set of viewpoints on topics discussed throughout history. Today the two religions of focus are Rastafarianism and Buddhism, and the topics are ecology, sustainability, and the environment. Whereas Buddhism and Rastafarianism appear quite different in their terms of environmental greed, they show important similarities in their values on sustainability and the physical environment. Before discussing their values, a brief history on each religion, as one is widely known while the other has a much smaller following. Buddhism began with the enlightenment of Buddha, at the early age of thirty five he awoke from the sleep of delusion and chose to share his liberation with those whom he used to suffer with. By the time he passed away, 435 BCE, his teachings termed Dharma were well known throughout central India. After the rainy season following his death, his disciple Mahakashyapa gathered his most dedicated followers to establish what they had learned and begin the widespread dispersion of Buddhism. Sherab Chodzin Kohn, writer for Buddhism for beginners magazine, states that: Ananda, the Buddha s personal attendant, recited all the Buddha s discourses (sutras), naming the place where each was given and describing the circumstances. Japan s economic development begun between the 12th and 17th century, in a period of time that the Japanese refer to as the Edo period. Although specific economic structures didn t exist at the time, the conditions, both socially and politically, set the Japanese up for a later successful industrialization and modernization. During the Edo period, the ruling government was known as the bakufu. The bakufu had absolute political power over smaller, local governments, however, they lacked a consistent economic stance. Therefore, the local governments, known as the han, were allowed to decide how their people would be taxed, and how administration would work, along with education, industrialization, and issuing paper currency as long as it was not directly prohibited by the bakufu. ... Due to an increasing economy and the demand of resources from merchants, the government had to resort to printing a financial currency, which leads to inflation, increase taxes and cut spending. Towards the end of the Edo period, the bakufu monopolized foreign trade, rendering it impossible for any Japanese to leave Japan and gain knowledge or trade with other countries. My best friend at the time, Kelsey, was very excited because the Valencia high school color guard was going to perform one of their routines in an attempt to get people to join the team. She was already on the guard, hence her motivation to attend this assembly. Before this point, I did not know color guard even existed. According to Kelsey, color guard is a performing art in which a team performs a dance routine centered around the use of flags, rifles, and sabers. From that championship on, I had to work especially hard to reclaim the trust of my instructors. Looking back, I can see now how hard it is to get someone s trust back once it is lost. I practiced relentlessly throughout high school and was the best person on the saber line. Or I would have been the best, but I could never be consistent, which is one of the most important skills to have in color guard. I would throw my saber and catch a difficult toss ten times in a row perfectly, then the next day drop it three times. Due to the inconsistency, as well as my history of crumbling under pressure, my instructors would not allow me another solo toss on my color guard team again. My experience has left a scar in my mind, to which I owe my persistence to not make promises I cannot keep. The best way to keep someone s trust is to not break your promises to them. I inadvertently made a promise to my instructors that they could trust me to catch my toss in our show when all focus is centered on me. I let them down, therefore I was left to deal with the consequences. Due to my hard work, I eventually came to prove to my instructors that I could toss beautiful tosses, but ... Significance Of The Mustard Seed Parable Significance of the Growing Seed and Mustard Seed Parables The growing and mustard seed parables expound upon the soils parable provided earlier in the book of Mark. Once the suitability of the soils is described, the human and divine roles in the process of growing the kingdom of God are interpreted. Subsequently the inevitable harvest and abundant growth of the kingdom of God is depicted. Human Responsibility As described in the growing seed parable, the sower has no divine identity in the text. This is evidenced with the use of the term used, man , and the activity, or the lack of activity, by the sower after the seed is spread upon the ground. The sower is described as sleeping during the night and displays no activity during the day toward the seed (4:27). The lack of divine identity of the sower is also evidenced with the provision that as the seed begins to grow, he himself does not know how (4:27). The only source of disagreement lies within how one achieves happiness and what happiness really means. The authors within the book Pursuing Happiness have their own meanings of happiness and what it takes to achieve happiness. Topics such as: what happiness is, what brings happiness, what role does money play in happiness, etc. In this first discussion, we see what the some of the authors have to say about the meaning of happiness. Someone such as his Holiness the Dalai Lama would argue that happiness is having peace and satisfaction within one s mind. As a tibetan monk, he believe that happiness occurs within the self (Dalai Lama and Cutler 23). In contrast, Thomas Jefferson would explain that happiness is actually the opportunity to freely choose one s path within life.
