The Narrative Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Narrative Essay" may initially seem deceptively
straightforward, given the apparent familiarity with the genre. However, delving into the
intricacies of constructing a compelling narrative can unveil a spectrum of challenges that require
careful consideration and adept writing skills.
Firstly, the writer must grapple with the delicate balance between storytelling and conveying a
meaningful message. While narratives are inherently driven by a sequence of events, it is crucial
to seamlessly weave these elements into a coherent and engaging narrative arc. Crafting a
compelling introduction that captures the reader's attention, followed by a well-paced plot
development, and culminating in a satisfying conclusion, demands a nuanced understanding of
narrative structure.
Moreover, the art of character development adds another layer of complexity. Characters within
a narrative essay must be more than mere actors in a sequence of events; they should be vehicles
through which the writer communicates the central theme or message. Striking the right balance
between detailed characterization and maintaining the overall brevity of the essay is a tightrope
walk.
The challenge is not only confined to the technical aspects of writing but also extends to the
emotional depth required to resonate with readers. Establishing a connection between the
narrator and the audience demands an acute awareness of tone, empathy, and an ability to infuse
the narrative with authenticity.
Additionally, the choice of the narrative itself can be a hurdle. Selecting an event or experience
that is not only personally significant but also universally relatable adds another layer of
complexity. The writer must navigate the fine line between being too esoteric or too
commonplace, striving to strike a chord with a diverse readership.
In essence, crafting an essay on "The Narrative Essay" necessitates a keen understanding of
narrative techniques, character development, emotional resonance, and the art of selecting a
compelling story. It is a task that requires a delicate interplay of creativity and structure, making
the process challenging yet rewarding.

The City s Love, By Lucille Clifton
The love affair between a city and the people who reside there can be influential in a
person s life. Cities share a relationship with their residents and the residents start to
ponder about their emotional relationship with their homes. In in the inner city by
Lucille Clifton, the speaker thinks of uptown and how different it is compared to her
home, the inner city. The speaker sees how unique the inner city is and takes pride
in her home. In The City s Love by Claude McKay the speaker experiences a brief
moment of acceptance by the city. Both Clifton and McKay s poem both illustrate
joy towards a city. The connotation used to describe their joy allows the reader to see
the different relationships that the two speakers have with their... Show more content

In The City s Love , McKay uses imagery such as similes to depict how appreciative
and satisfied the speaker is. In the first lines the reader can infer that the moment
that the speaker is talking about is uncommon and treasures his experience: For
one brief golden moment rare like wine, The gracious city swept across the line; (l.
1 2). Collaborating his first thoughts to his closing ones The great, proud city,
seized with a strange love, (l. 7) The speaker describes this love as strange and
golden because he was used to the mistreatment in a different far more
discriminatory city. This city shows affection towards him making the speaker
forget that he is different from the majority The gracious city swept across the line;
Oblivious of the color of my skin, Forgetting that I was an alien guest, (l. 2 4). Even
though the speaker has experienced hate from another society he ends up finding a
city that seems to give the speaker affection, which reveals the loving relationship the

How Did The Triple Alliance Cause Ww1
Woodrow Wilson once said: Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the
world together. And right he was, or else he would not have said this in the year
1919, when he joined the Peace Conference and became one of the Big Four. The
Big Four were the allied winners of World War I who created the Peace Conference
to prevent another war from happening. They did this by establishing and agreeing
upon laws and peace terms. To this day, historians have not recognized the main
reason of World War I
starting, they have rather come up with a list of causes that
contributed to starting the war. One popular way that these causes have been listed is
by M.A.I.N, an acrostic for: Militarism, Alliance System, Imperialism, and
Nationalism. Each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many may believe that the introduction of new weapons and armies is what
contributed the most to the war, but that not accurate as weaponry is bound to be
introduced in all wars, and the only thing that it does is make the other country
come up with some sort of protection against it. Militarism was not something that
took place before the war, it was more of a factor that was invented during it and
something that might have caused some scenarios. Many people might argue that
the Austrians thought a lot about imperialism and how that would help them get rid
of the Serbians and put them in their place, but that was not necessarily the way
that the Austrians did not get along with the Serbians. Yes, they felt like the
Serbians were peace disrupters, but not once was it mentioned by the Austrians in
their law books and articles that they wanted to take over Serbia. On the contrary,
Franz Ferdinand had plans to make countries more united and on better terms.
Others argue that Nationalism was what made great changes to World War I, and
though that may be the case for many wars, this war was not based mostly off of
who was of better blood or who was smarter or better as an individual. This war was
simply an argument between two countries that did not get along and
Abortion As A Medical Or Surgical Procedure
Abortion is described as a medical or surgical procedure to remove a fetus and the
placenta from a woman s uterus by a trained healthcare worker (Nih.gov.2014).
After hearing a case named Roe vs. Wade the Supreme Court, abortion was made
legal in the United States in 1973. For a very long time, I was against abortiondue to
lack of information and exposure to other cultures. Because I grow up in a very
religious household, the word abortion was definitely not part of the vocabulary. My
parents taught me to believe that abortion was a sin against God and that removing a
pregnancy equals to committing a murder. However, since my move to the United
States I learned that in life, it is not always black or white; therefore my... Show more

Many people have different views about abortion and they feel strongly about the
debate. I believe that everyone views are individual and mostly feel motivated
because of religious beliefs or personal experiences. Prior to watching the videos, I
did not realize how much people struggle to make abortion legal in the United
States. However I did know about illegal abortions because they are frequently
done in West Africa where I grew up. Moreover the video showed when times
women were having pregnancies removed against the law. Nonetheless women
who decided not to carry an unwanted pregnancy due to one reason or other have
found ways to have an abortion. Being in desperate situations basically made them
resort to dangerous and sometimes deadly methods. Many of these women had to
be hospitalized for complications or lost their lives too ashamed to seek for help or
for fear of criminal charges. Before being legalized, it was estimated that over a
million of illegal abortions was done and over a thousand of women have died due to
complications and infections. (Castle .M. A 2011). The things that impressed me the
most in the video are the fact that the country saw was the rise of the women
movement to fight against the inequalities and unfair treatments toward them.
According to video, young activist marched the streets, organized public speeches to
demand the legal right to abortion in many States. In addition, the things that I did

Submerged Radial Gates With A Sill
Hydraulics of Submerged Radial Gates with a Sill
Abstract
In this paper the submerged flow through radial gates with and without a gate sill was
experimentally investigated. The effect of different gate sill heights on contraction
coefficient, discharge coefficient, submerged jump length, backup water depth, flow
energy dissipation, and velocity distribution with different hydraulic parameters were
analyzed and graphically presented. A combination of dimensional and regression
analysis tools was employed to develop reliable formulas for estimating the studied
parameters. This paper concluded the negative influence of sills under submerged
radial gates and justified the local scour phenomena occurred immediately

1.Introduction
Radial (tainter) gates are among the most common features of water control
structures in many irrigation networks overall the world. They are employed to
regulate both water level and flow discharge in irrigation canals. Radial gates are
preferred over vertical sluice gates for several advantages. They require smaller
hoisting force, have easier operation, produce lower flow disturbance, and provide
better discharge (Sehgal 1996). The flow through radial gates is classified as either
free flowing or submerged depending upon the tailwater depth and
Jean Vygotsky Vs Piaget
How do children think and how do they learn? These questions could possibly be
answered by exploring the psychological perspective. The cognitive developmental
theory seeks to describe how knowledge is obtained in addition to the construction of
thought processes. The first individual who proposed a methodical cognitive
developmental theory was Jean Piaget, however, there are many other theories
pertaining to cognitive development, for instance, those of Lev Vygotsky. Piaget
developmental approach derived from a self supporting, biological perspective,
whereas Vygotsky s approach acquired social and environmental factors. Despite the
differences or strengths and weaknesses, both made astonishing cognitive
applications to child development.
Jean William Fritz Piaget, also known as Jean Piaget was born on August 9, 1896,
in Neuchatel, Switzerland; born to Rebecca Jackson and Arthur Piaget; both of
which had a major impact on Piaget s life. Piaget s father was a medieval literary
scholar with an interest in local history. Piaget idolized his father s dedication to
work and adopted his skeptical, scientific attitude at an early age. However, Piaget
often described his mother as neurotic or poor in mental health combined with her
religious enthusiasm which lead Piaget to become enticed with psychology.
Unfortunately, Piaget grew up quite fast but had various interests. From age seven to
ten, he became interested in mechanics, birds, seashells, and fossils of secondary
Frederick Douglass Principles
The Narrative of Frederick Douglass is one of the most fascinating books I ever

overcome obstacles and oppositions. Douglass refused to allow color or race to act
as a barrier. Douglass refused to let it impede in the quest for the American dream.
His was one of greatest leaders in the abolitionist movement, a statesman, orator, and
writer. He championed for human rights and social injustice. He prepared the way
for Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and Barack Obama.
Douglass articulated three key principles that were instrumental in his success. First,

Describe The Benefits Of Using A Foam Roller
A foam roller or a physio roller is a tool made from synthetic foam rubber used for
Self Myofascial release. Foam rollers offer the same service as a massage only that it
is free.
They stretch muscles and tendons while breaking down soft tissue adhesion. Other
benefits of using a foam roller include breaking up trigger points, soothing tight fascia
and increasing blood flow and circulation to the tissues.
How to use a foam roller
Using a roller is simple but working out some parts of the body may require a bit of
practice.
Find an open area and position your body on top of the roller. The body weight will
create the pressure needed to massage and releases the tight spots in the fascia. Fascia

Moral Economic System
Introduction
Creating a moral economic system should be the ultimate goal of every society. A
moral economy is one that is founded on the principles of justice, fairness and
goodness. A moral economic system ensures equitable allocation of resources which
are scarce in nature and configures markets to ensure that they run fairy. The end
results are to realize a stable economy that is free from exploitation, political
insecurity and wars. A moral economic systemfosters peace and satisfaction among
the citizens of a nation (SEA, Browne, Milgram, 2009). It also creates a level ground
for fair competition among various economic drivers reducing negative rivalry that is
retrogressive to economic development and welfare hence the general improvement
of the gross domestic product. A good GDP creates a good environment to run
economic activities which leads to the increment government revenues and
improvement of the infrastructure.
Free market and Capitalism
In a free market, the market is left under the control of demand and supply.
However, this can be taken advantage of by the capitalists who are out to leap the
best from the economy. The profit maximization that prevails in a free market is a
threat to the move towards a moral economic system (SEA, Browne, Milgram,
2009). This is because capitalist have always found immoral ways of interfering
with the market forces of demand and supplies. For example, hoarding of goods have
been a common practice in free markets creating
The Truth And Reconciliation Commission From South
Africa
The degree of success achieved by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
(TRC) in South Africa is a topic of great debate. Following the end of apartheid in
1994, the TRC came into operation in South Africa on the 19th of July 1995
(Stanley 2001). After an era of repression and human rights abuses there was a
significant need for a form of transitional justice that not only addressed the torment
endured by much of the population but also ensured that the structural inequalities
of the past were properly dealt with. It was essential that South Africa s new
political strategy encompassed the key aspects of social justice, the rule of law and
reconciliation (Stanley 2001). A major aspect of TRCs is the promotion of truth to
instigate a process of healing and result in successful reconciliation (Wilson 2003).
However there are strong arguments that the TRC did not adequately address these
issues and was therefore not successful in achieving the objectives set out in its
mandate. This paper will discuss the main strengths and weaknesses of the TRC in
South Africa as well as querying whether other forms of transitional justice would
have been more appropriate for this situation. Furthermore it will discuss the use of
the International Criminal Court around the world and whether this is a more
appropriate form of transitional justice. One of the main limitations of the TRC in
South Africa that has been presented is a lack of commitment by both the
commission itself and the

Link between Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Criminal Behaviour, its impact
on law And How to prevent / treat the sufferers to lessen the impact on society.
Introduction The American Psychitric Association explains Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD) as the experience of a traumatic event that is followed by the
persistence of re experiencing the same or a similar event and results into the
symptoms of two clusters in PTSD i.e. increased arousal and avoidance (Roberts,
2011). When a patient develops PTSD then his/her emotions and sensation about the
traumatic event lead them towards a life of suffering. whenever the trauma replays
it leads towards the sensations and increases distress (Hughes, 2011). An example
of a factor that can lead to PTSD is sexual abuse. Research evidenced that a
significant proportion of the victims of sexual abuse have become traumatised which
leads them towards PTSD (Bender, 2010). According to Roberts, in the 19th and 20th
centuries most of the theories and research have been swung back and forth between
the occasion and predisposition. It is found that the occurrence of PTSD is thought to
occur either because of the existence of a mental illness due to the undesired
circumstances affecting the memories of the victim, or because of the occurrence of
similar events frequently (Van der Kolk and McFarlane, 2012). Most of the people
have intrusive thoughts in their memories about what happened which is followed by
the traumatic event
The Joy Of Running Research Paper
Running is a linear sport. Many runners spend a great deal of energy twisting their
upper bodies, fighting the efforts of the lower body. Think of the zipper line on a
jacket running down the center of your torso. If your hands cross that zipper line,
the shoulders and the top half of the body usually follow the hands. The torque
created from the waist up is energy that could be used to run faster. Periodically,
glance down at the position of your hands at the front part of your arm swing. If
you see your thumb and forefinger, your hands are likely crossing the zipper line. A
slight adjustment is all that s needed. Hold your hands a little wider from your body,
slightly wider than your hips. As your arm swings back, think about reaching into
your back pocket. This extends your reach further in a straight line with less crossing
over the zipper line. hen fatigued, our arm... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tension in our forearms rises up to our shoulders and extends to the rest of our
body. This tension makes our hearts work harder to push oxygen rich blood into
our muscles, resulting in more wasted energy and, ultimately, a slower pace. To
release this tension, think about holding an imaginary potato chip without
breaking it. If your fists are clenched so tightly that you can t hold that chip, wiggle
your fingers and loosen your grip. Body tension will reverse, allowing the
deliverance of more oxygen rich blood to our muscles with each heartbeat. We ll
return to a smoother, longer, more efficient stride, and more energy is saved for
the finishing kick. Zipper lines, chicken wings and potato chips are early warning
signs of fatigue and inefficient running form. By paying attention to our body s
signals, each is easily and quickly corrected. Once corrected, your endurance level
will improve, you ll hold your pace for a longer period of time and your good form
will carry you through? to the finish line on race
Reasons For The Abolition Of The Slave Trade
APFWhy was the slave trade abolished in 1807? 16/11/17
As a slave you are property of your owner. Your owner controls where you work,
how you work, your living and eating. Slavery had been around for centuries but by
the 1700 s attitudes were beginning to change.
The slave trade was abolished in 1807, but you must keep in mind that it was only
the trade of slaves that was banned not slavery itself! The members of the Society for
the Abolition of the Slave Trade tactically decided to focus on a campaign to persuade
Parliament to ban the trading in slaves. This was because they felt they were more
likely to succeed than if they demanded the abolition of all slavery throughout the
empire. They expected that the complete abolition would continue naturally.
In economy the slave trade had become less important. There was no longer a need
for large numbers of slaves to be imported to the British colonies to work on sugar
plantations because there was a world over supply of sugar. This also meant that
British merchants had difficulties re exporting it. Also sugar could be cheaply bought
without the use of slavery from Britain s other colonies. For example, India.
The Industrial Revolutions that were happening in France and England and advances
and improvements in agriculture were benefiting the British economy and provided
new sources of wealth and more efficient production without the need for slaves.
Especially as the government began to realise the costs and dangers of the slave

Comparing WWI And World War II
World War I and World War II are very similar, but is World War II an extension of
the First World War? Although there were many different aspects involving both
World Wars, events at the end of World War I did lead into the second war. Various
alliances, poor economics, and countries wanting supreme control are a few aspects
of how they are similar. Basically, World War II was a continuation of World War I
.
Many of the same alliances that were present in the First World War were present in
the Second World War. In the first war, the allied forces consisted of France, the
United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, and The United States. These forces were the same in
the Second World War, except for Italy, who joined the axis forces. The Axis forces
in the first war were Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. The second
war featured Germany, Japan, and Italy as Axis countries. World War II is a

This was most evident in Germany, where there was profuse hyperinflation. The
lack of leadership caused many German citizens to lose control of themselves. This
country was desperate for any leader they could get. This is when Hitler was able

force behind World War II. If Hitler had not risen to power, World War II would
have happened much differently, if at all. The fall of Germany s economy after World
War I resulted in leadership change, which ultimately contributed to the start of World

Conch Shell Symbolism
What does the conch shell in Lord of the Flies truly represent? In Lord of the Flies
by William Golding, a group of young boys are stranded on an island where they
try to maintain a civilization far away from society. The conch shell that Piggy and
Ralph find is used to create a small democracy on the island. It is a symbol of the
civilization on the island, the orderthat the boys have, and the powerthat a single
person can possess. It represents how much of a connection they have to society,
and the degree of civilization that still remains. The conch is an important part of
their survival because without the conch, the boys can no longer live in harmony
with one another and will eventually destroy each other. Without order and
civilization, the island cannot be called a society. They can no longer hold
themselves together, and have a higher chance of destruction. Over time, the boys
begin to lose sight of civilization. When the conch is finally destroyed, the order
between them is destroyed as well. The conch shell symbolizes the boys
civilization, order, and power. At the beginning of the story, the conch is
emphasized as a symbol of order, as that is the first idea that comes up when an
assembly is established. When the conch is blown, all of the boys head to the
mountain where Piggy and Ralph are located. The conch constituted order for them
and allowed them to start a civilization in the first place. It also represents power
among the boys. Golding shows Ralph s

Rise In Debt
Rachel E. Dwyer, Laura McCloud, and Randy Hodson s academic article titled
Youth debt, mastery and self esteem: Class stratified effects of indebtedness on self
concept published in March of 2011, argues that both education and credit card debt
increase mastery and self esteem in the perspective that debtis an investment for the
future, contrary to the expectation that debt would lower mastery and self esteem.
They also argue that the effects of indebtedness on mastery and self esteem vary
depending on class stratification; the effects on lower and middle class individuals
are accentuated whereas the effects on upper class individuals are weakened. The
authors explore the depths of educational loans, credit card debt, class stratification,
young adults, mastery, and self esteem to try to prove and explain their hypothesis.
In the introduction, the authors detail how young adults in the modern world are
facing a time of easily accessible credit and decreased rate of earnings, making
indebtedness a common reality in their lives. The rise in debt is veritable, however
scholars disagree on the effects of debt on self concept. Some ... Show more content

Taking on debt will also allow them to facilitate their lifestyle that supports their
goals and identity. This ties into the idea of mastery and self esteem; mastery coming
from the capability to control one s future and self esteem coming from positive
outlook for the future that contribute to a feeling of self worth . The positive effect of
debt is postulated when the authors state their hypothesis that College loan and credit
card debt contribute to a greater sense of mastery and self esteem for young adults
because they represent a necessary and reasoned investment in status
The Importance Of Medi-Weightloss
I wanted to take a minute to thank Medi WeightlossВ® for everything. I was
brought up in a very tight knit family, where we were taught to give back to the
community, not only during the holidays but all year long. I have always dedicated
time throughout the years to help raise money for great causes, such as the Saint
Baldrick s Special Olympics. Later in life, I became a policeofficer in Wilton, CT.
What I did not realize until earlier this year was that maybe for once I was actually
the person in need of help. In January of 2016, while working a midnight shift as
the shift supervisor, I was on a traffic stop with another officer. During the traffic

Why Is King Henry Viii Important
King Henry VIII of England was desperate for ultimate power and for his name to be
carried on throughout generations. He changed world history by beginning the
separation of the English government from the church hoping to establish the concept
of secular governments.
Henry Tudor was born on June 28, 1491 in the Greenwich Palace. He is the son of
Henry VII of England and Elizabeth York. After his father s death, Henry became
known as king of England. He married six different women (Catherine Parr, Catherine
Howard, Anne of Cleves, Jane Seymour, Anne Boleyn, and Catherine of Aragon) in
the time of his reign. His marriages are most familiar in the mnemonic device,
divorced, beheaded, died/divorced, beheaded, survived , talking about his wives.
Henry had six siblings, yet only three survived: Arthur, Margaret, and Mary. Arthur
was expected to take the throne considering he is older than Henry, but he died at
the age of 15, four months after his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. Henry was
offered to the family alliance of Spain by his father to Arthur s widow. At the age of
17, he had married Catherine.
King Henry was only a teenager when taking the throne, not even an adult. He had a
short attention span and no inclination to accomplish any hard work. Henry had

Henry was Roman Catholic and Roman Catholic s believed in marriage for life, this

England after the Christian church separated, in 1534, by the Act of Parliament. This
made the church separated from the pope and not under Rome s power anymore. This

Republican Presidential Debate Essay
The debate I am choosing to watch is the Republican Presidential Debate, and my
focus would be on examining Donald Trump s portions. The debate of course, is
about Republican candidates who are running for president (intended for the next
four years) debating to the public on who is a better choice to vote for. In the
broad sense, Republicans takes on conservative stand on issues. They believe the
federal government shouldn t play a big role in the citizen s lives. Most Republican
wants lower taxes in addition to less government spending on social programs such
as healthcare, food Stamps and education. The portions that I am looking at would

of immigration. It... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his whole presentation, Trump have shown countless hand gestures while
he is speaking. His hand gestures seem to go with the rhymes of his listings or
when he say things that seem to be important slowly. For example, one of the time
would be him yellowing out a fifty billion dollar, when talking about how the US
would lose a large sum of money if a trade imbalance were to happen. His hand
gesture here moves up and down, making a point that the amount is large and
important. In addition to his hand movements, Trump s head also turn several
times, and his blinking seems to be constant every seconds and endless at times.
When he talks about how he is self funding his blinks seem constant, however when
he talks about the Mexican leaders, his blinks seem endless. This shows that Trump
might be sarcastic or lying when he say he respects the Mexican leaders. When
people say something that they do not believe is true, their actions begin to put more
effort into being normal resulting in irregularity of too much effort. Other than
blinking endlessly at times, there are also times when Trump stops blinking. One of
the times when Trump stop blinking is after he finish talking about Mark

Trump may be able to control his blinking during his sessions since his eyes did not

11 October, 2016 In 1775 General Thomas Gage, Commander if the British Force in
the Massachusetts Colony, issued orders to the troops quartered in Boston,
Massachusetts to march to Concord and and destroy the colonial military stores that
were there. The reason the British were in Massachusetts in the first place was
because the people of Massachusetts were very rebellious and have had many
violent resistances against the British already. The secret orders that Gage issued
were hardly a secret and some colonials knew about this movement a week before the
British moved out. Both the British troops and the colonial militia meet each other at

John Bateman, a British soldier who was captured by the colonists said that he
heard a command to fire given to the Regulars, and that none of the colonists fired
at the Regulars(3). This completely goes against the British evidence which clearly
says that they did not give the command to fire and were giving orders to not fire.
Also, since he was captured by the colonists, he obviously wants to say something
that pleases them since they are his audience. That makes his evidence unreliable
since he could have made that up to please the colonists who had captured him. Next
up is Sylvanus Wood who was a commonwealth of Massachusetts and gave a sworn
testimony on June 17, 1826. He Said that The officer then swung his sword, and
said Lay down your arms, you damn d rebels, or you are all dead men fire (5). He
also said One member of the company told me, many years since, that after Parker s
company had dispersed, and he was at some distance, he gave them the guts of his
gun (5). Wood said that The British ordered their troops to fire, as well as him
saying that one of the colonists did in fact fire against the Regulars. This contradicts
the fact that Bateman said that none of the colonists fired at the Regulars while
Wood is saying that at least one colonists did fire upon the Regulars. It also seems a
bit unreliable since Wood s testimony was made almost 50 years later after the event

Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing
Katherine Paterson says, Real maturity, which most of us never achieve, is when you
realize that you re not the center of the universe. Claudio, a character from Much
Ado About Nothing, is a perfect example of this quote. Throughout most of the play
Claudio is only concerned about how other people and events affect him. However,
the obstacles and positions he is put in do not help the situation. The one of the main
themes of this play is deception, which Claudio, as well as most of the other
characters in the play, fall victim. In Much Ado About NothingClaudio begins the
play with a tendency to be very gullible and paranoid about everything, and he
continues to show his immaturity by seeking revenge when he is upset; Claudio

But fare thee well, most foul, most fair, farewell; Thou pure impiety and impious
purity, for thee I ll lock up all the gates of love (67 68.) This quote is another
example of how cruel Claudio was to Hero at their wedding day, which was
supposed to be a happy event. Claudio shows how malicious he can be by leaving
her at the altar, in front of all her friends and family, publically shaming her in the
process. It also shows how he tends to think the worst of those around him and his
need to get even. This need to humiliate her shows he is really only considered with
himself and his happiness.
Claudio finally grows to maturity when he takes responsibility for Hero s death
and graciously complies to do whatever Leonato asks as punishment. After Hero s
death Claudio goes back to Leonato to apologize, I know not how to pray for your
patience, Yet I must speak. Choose your revenge yourself; Impose me to what
penance your intervention. Can lay upon my sin. Yet sinned I not but in mistaking
(88 89.) This apology by Claudio shows a lot of courage and humility, both signs of
maturity. It is always hard to admit doing something wrong, especially if what was
done has affected someone else. This act shows a lot of courage on Claudio s part
because the punishment could have been very severe, seeing as Leonato is governor
of Messina. He apologizes because even though he was hurt by Hero s supposed

Technology In Ww2
The United States should focus primarily on the pursuit of technological advantages
in order to preserve a decisive edge in warfare. Technology alone will not win wars,
but without employing current technology the United States will find itself at a
significant disadvantage in warfare. Throughout history, several technological
advances have given an edge to nations engaged in conflict, leaving their adversaries
to adjust or risk a significant disadvantage. Over the last three centuries, technology
and the industrial revolution have changed the face of warand the world. During the
19th century rifling of weapons enabled soldiers to shoot further with more accuracy

Locomotives and the use of rail enabled armies to move and resupply more quickly,
the speed of feet no longer constrained movement. Steam power, along with iron
building materials and better cannons, changed naval warfare. Improving ships led to
further technological advances in order to counter the advantages of the iron clad
fleets, such as submarines.
There are multiple examples of technological advances that enhanced or changed
warfare during the 20th century. Machine guns are most often associated with World
War I. Heavy employment of machine guns during the First World War changed the
fighting tactics employed in the ground war. Military tacticians had not had the
opportunity or the need to redevelop tactics based on the employment of machine
guns causing a stalemate between the forces and costing both sides millions of lives.
Militants eventually used armored vehicles to counter the effects of the machine gun
standoff. The first tanks were rudimentary, but development would continue
throughout this century. World War I also saw the introduction of air power, enabling
behind the line attacks on enemy headquarters, rear areas and

To Kill A Mockingbird Loss Of Innocence Essay
One s purity is a prized possession that is difficult to abdicate. Even so, the loss of
such innocence allows one to grow up and mature into an individual capable of
experiencing new ambitious struggles. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper
Lee identifies Jem as the symbolic mockingbird due to the experiences he encounters

Jem s characteristic of concern for Scout s desires leads to his finding of perilous
situations that corrupt his inculpability. As Jem is growing older he decides to
follow in his father s footsteps and assist Scout more and more by giving advice
and helping her out in tenacious situations. After Jem rolls Scout into the Radley s

Knights In The Canterbury Tales Essay
During the medieval time period, knights were very important heroic figures.
Knights were men who served their sovereign or lord as a mounted soldier in
armor. The Knights follow the code of chivalry, which was a religious code to
behave in an honorable or polite way. Geoffrey Chaucer shows how the knightuses
chivalry in The Canterbury Tales through respect for women, religious act, and honor
for their kingdom and their society. Knights exhibit chivalry through the protection
and honor of women. In the Wife of Bath s Tale, the knight talks to the old women
and says, Please choose which may be the greatest pleasure and greatest honor to
you and me also (Chaucer 11). The knight is giving his honor and assurance to the
old lady showing that he loves her no matter what she chooses. Knights also showed

They sometimes show honor through love and sacrifice. In Sir Gawain and The
Green Knight, Gawain says, No men under Heaven, I am sure, are more hardy in
will or better in body on the fields where battles are fought; I myself am the
weakest, of course, and in wit the most feeble; my life would be at least missed, if
we let out the truth (Chaucer 134 137). Gawain is showing honor by sacrificing
himself for his king. He would rather die an honorable man than letting his king
die. Knights also show honor by keeping their word. As the Green Knight talks to
Gawain, he says, See, Gawain, that you carry out your promise exactly, and search
for me truly, sir, until I am found, as you have sworn in the hall in the hearing of
these knights (Chaucer 448 450). Gawain kept his word to meet the Green Knight
even though he knows the consequences ahead of him. He wants to be courageous
knight than rather to lie on his name. Showing honor is a very important duty to a
knight. Having honor means to have respect for yourself and your
Eva Braun s Definition Of The Word Evil
How could the woman behind the most deviant man in the history of the world go

genocide in recent history? Eva Braun is quite possibly the second hand definition
of the word evil. Was her life really like this? Could a women that lived a seemingly

of history s most notorious criminals, but perhaps in her own light was not quite the
woman that everybody makes her out to be.

Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun never shared an intimate moment together or so it
seems (Nobody knew Hitler s true sexuality so this may of had an impact)(3).Their
relationship was strictly domestic and relaxatory rather than the usual erotic
relationship that many couples share today(9). They were merely close friends
that thrived off of each others joy and companionship in times of need(3). Another
part of their relationship that was different than most is that it was completely
private. Hitler and Eva rarely appeared in public together(9). Even if they did, they
would not sit together or give any evidence that they were even acquaintances of
one another(8). This was hard on Eva, as she longed for his attention. She would
often cry when he was not around and it was apparent that he had a significant
impact on her mood. She even went to lengths as trying to take her own life at one
point in time because she did not think she would ever be good enough for him(3).
This proved to change the views that Hitler had on the relationship, as it started to
drastically change(8). Soon after the incident they moved in together and Eva
started to arrange gatherings for Hitler s closest friends otherwise known as his
inner circle . It was not long after that they started to live together that they were
married. It was in April of 1945 in Berlin where the ceremony happened, tragically a
day before both of their deaths. Although they were close companions for many

Fema Research Paper

soil that Homeland Security has joined this group. This has increased suspicions
towards why a group that was created to fight terrorists would need to be involved
in aiding those who have been in an earthquake or flooding. Few Americans feel that
they have any hope of being able to truly count on their assistance because of this.

High Amount of Losses
Unfortunately, FEMA already knows what most Americans don t. There will be a
huge amount of casualties because so few people are prepared for a state of
emergency to happen. Because of this, they are already prepared to bury thousands
of people with a stash of coffins that they keep handy. Although this sounds cruel, it
should be used as motivation for people to not expect FEMA to be their savior in
case of a disaster. They have to be able to handle situations on their own instead.
As you can see, this organization is highly motivated to work against the American
people, not for them. That is why it is extremely important that people start
preparing now for a possible crisis now. Foods that have a long shelf life and don t

Symbolism In Dr Jekyll And Hyde
Furthermore, symbolism plays a great role in the Stevenson s strange case. The
symbolism gives the illusion that Jekyll and Hyde were two completely different
entities or in other words the duality of life . Jekyll states in the short story With
every day, and from both sides of my intelligence, the moral and the intellectual, I
thus drew steadily nearer to that truth, by whose partial discovery I have been
doomed to such a dreadful shipwreck: that man is not truly one, but truly two

on their actions, however, it is not clear and neither are many of the symbolic devices
the author employs. It is justifiable that Stevenson allowed Jekyll s mind to run

The Legacy of Perceptions of Interracial Relationships as Demonstrated in Late 19th

The history of interracial relationships in America is a painfully loaded issue which is

significant way was an experience she had when she was sixteen. She was lying
under the peartree in her backyard when she noticed the bees around the tree. She
saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister calyxes
arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest
branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage!
She had been summoned to behold a revelation (Hurston 10). Something out of Janie

Adverse Effect Of Alcohol Consumption
The Adverse Effect of Alcohol Consumption
In Whiting S. Albert s article Alcohol Use Is Harmful he stated that alcohol is a
chemical that contains hydrogen and carbon. Whiting stated further that the active
ingredient of alcohol is ethyl alcohol, which is also known as ethanol. Alcohol is one
of the few things that human being consume that do not need digestion. Alcohol
appears the bloodstream immediately, thus, its intoxicating effects are felt instantly
(1). High levels of mortality, morbidity, and social malaise are associated with
abuse of alcohol, and increasing numbers of women and youth are abusing alcohol
(Ferreira and Darryn 1). Alcohol slows down the function of all living cells,
especially those in the brain (Whiting 1), which causes thinking to be impaired.
Alcohol is probably the most used drug worldwide. Three in ten adults 18 years of
age and over have had alcoholism and/or engaged in alcohol abuse at some point in
their lives ... ( Impact of Alcoholism 1). According to Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention,
Excessive drinking includes binge drinking, heavy drinking, and any drinking by
pregnant women or people younger than age 21. Binge drinking, the most
common form of excessive drinking, is defined as consuming: for women, 4 or more
drinks during a single occasion, and for men, 5 or more drinks during a single
occasion. Heavy drinking, however, is defined as consuming: for women, 8 or more
drinks per week, and for men, 15 or more drinks per

Bornean Orangutan Research Paper
Orangutans are amongst the most iconic species in wildlife conservation (Meijaard,
E., Wich, S., Ancrenaz, M., Marshall, A J., 2012) Their behaviours and facial
expressions give them an uncannily human like personality. Their genetic
comparisons, cognitive and behavioural similarities indicate a close evolutionary
relationship between humans and themselves. [REF] There are two species of the
Orangutan, the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) and the Bornean Orangautan
(Pongo pygmaeus). The Sumatran orangutan belongs exclusively to the island of
Sumatra, Indonesia. This species is rarer than its Bornean equivalent. The Sumatran
orangutan lives mainly amongst the trees of tropical rainforests, and rely heavily on
these forests for survival.

Fluoxetine Improves Behavioral Performance by Suppressing the Production of

Abstract: Alzheimer s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder
of the central nervous system. Cur

that target the pathological processes
of the disease remain elusive. Fluoxetine (FLX) is one of the most widely used

Although most cases of AD are sporadic in nature, about 5 10% result from an
inherited familial form caused by the expression of mutant genes of amyloid

Despite recent advances in the understanding of the pathophysiology, there are no
medical approaches that can cure AD. All current medications available for the
treatment of the disease only improve the symptoms of AD to varying

An Analysis of Forensic Psychology in the Film, Primal Fear
Forensic psychology in Primal Fear (1996) Primal Film (1996) is a legal thriller with
Martin Vail represented as an ambitious; high profile Chicago Defense Lawyer hired
to defend Aaron Kentucky charged with murder of Chicago s Archbishop, Richard
Rushman. During the trial, Martin Vail discloses that the Archbishop was involved in
sexual harassment and other political issues. Based on various substantial factors,
Martin Vail believed that Aaron suffered from Multiple Personality Disorder, which
instigated his action of killing the Archbishop. Vail highlighted the following two
distinct personalities that instigated the death of the archbishop. They comprise; a.A
psychotic, sociopathic, and prevailing alter ego known as Roy b.His usual logical
self named Aaron who recalled nothing pertaining to the incidence. During the cross
examination, the aggressive Roy blew out from Aaron s character and assaulted
Laura Linney, the assistant District Attorney Prosecutor. Vail took advantage of the
situation by defending his client based on insanity. However, at the end of the film,
there is a clear shocking twist, when Aaron congratulates his lawyer for his
competence. Aaron sends apologies to Laura for the assault he caused. It dawns on
Vail that Aaron was still recalling what Roy did, rather than forgetting the incident.
Roy unknowingly revealed his guiltiness of killing the archbishop. It was evident that
his presence in the courtroom was premeditated, and Roy was his real
Comparing Nietzsche s Vision Of Geothe
Many philosophers, throughout centuries of human existence, have deciphered, or at
least attempted tried to cast some light on to, our purpose. Consulting their findings
could give several answers on whether we should live to maximize our pleasure,
minimize our pain, avoid frustration or achieve greatness. In my own considerations,
though, sorting through the tumultuous noise and clutter of the world around me for
the some obscured or hidden meaning was not necessary. To me, the noise and
clutter is the meaning. I do not live for what is hidden; I live for what is all around
me. My experiences are not tools that assist me in find some truth. Rather, they are

1). Robert Kennedy warned against the pursuit of more in a 1968 campaign
speech, stating, we will find neither national purpose or personal satisfaction in the
mere continuation of economic progress, in endless amassing of worldly
goods...The gross national product includes the destruction of the redwoods and
the death of Lake Superior (as cited in De Graaf, Wann, Naylor, 2014, p. 128). The
gross national product is a flawed way of measuring the success of the economy
because it does not consider the harms and benefits of production; it measures
growth for growth s sake. In the same vein, the success of my personal life could
not be measured by quantity alone. Endlessly seeking more stuff would actively
impede me in many ways. It could put me in debt and hold me back from doing the
things I truly want to do. It would also be detrimental to society. Overconsumption is
not just an ill advise way to seek fulfillment, it actively hurts others and the world we
share. The authors of Affluenza advocate mindfulness in consumption,
recommending we pay full attention to the real benefits and costs of our purchases,
remembering the best things in life aren t things (Graaf, Wann, Naylor, 2014, p. 10).
They a simpler life, devoid of too many unnecessary material products, has more

Romanticism In Film
Romanticism was a movement that started in the 1700 s that focused on emphasizing
pathos, inspiration, individualism and superiority. Most films have a dimension of
romance between a main character and a supporting character. A romance film is any
film that the central storyline features the romantic involvement of two characters.
Many romantic films do not have fairy tale stories or happy endings, although love
serves as a shield against the harshness of the real world. Romantic films often
elaborate the main theme of love at first sight. Romanticism refers back to the
romantic characters of the Middle Ages and also modern films. Romantic love on
film is a universal human experience that produces intensely powerful, strong
feelings. Romantic Literature has had a strong influence on modern day films
through pathos, folklore, and love. Pathos is a communication technique used most
often in rhetoric, and in literature, film and other narrative. Pathos is a appeal to the
emotions of the person, and elicits feelings that already reside in them. Pathos is also
a communication technique used most often in rhetoric, and in literature, film and
movies. Disney has perfected the art of using pathos to popularize their many hit
movies. Essentially, Disney plays on the feelings of their audience to create emotional
connections between them and the characters. Some movies for an example would
be snow white, cinderella, lion king, tarzan, the little mermaid, beauty and the beast,

Main Case Study 4 6: Grand Jean Company
Introduction
This case study covers case 4 6 of Management Control Systems , written by Robert
N. Anthony and Vijay Govindarajan (2007, 12th edition). The case discusses Grand
Jean Company, a jeans manufacturing company, and describes several processes and
issues in their organisation and management. In this report, we will we review and
discuss the main problems that Grand Jean Company faces, analyse and propose
solutions to these problems.

Grand Jean then immediately terminates the relationship, and does not try to aid its
contractors in any way that we have noticed. This is a waste of invested time and
resources in the relationship, which could be easily avoided by closer collaboration
and communication, combined with more a more flexible framework. The existing
facilities are not used for a period of time; which is an additional waste of resources.
The key metrics that Grand Jean use to evaluate the company s performance are very
outdated. The main focus throughout the company is to focus on production output
and metrics that affect or can be derived from focusing on production quantity e.g.
production/year, standard hours/pair. However, there seems to be no consideration of
metrics that affect the overall performance of the company.
As mentioned before, the contractor s that failed to meet expectations were usually
just replaced by a new contractor in the same existing facility, this is an activity that
impacts the company s overall performance, as time and money has to again be spent
re negotiating terms of agreement, setting up and starting production lines. Overall
the key metrics do not focus on activities that can have a more profound impact on
the company s performance. The heavy focus on production quota causes the
company to
Benefits Of Marriage During Today s Contemporary Society
Advantages of Endogamy Marriage plays a significant role in today s
contemporary society, and it is only through marriage the subsequent generation is
created. Most people may have attended a wedding before; however, not all
weddings are alike due to the difference in religion and/or culture. For example a
Christian wedding has different customs than a Hindu wedding as a result of
different beliefs and traditions. There are different types of marriages such as an
arranged marriageand love marriages; however in the modern society many people
have love Marriages. Aside from the types of marriages mentioned above, endogamy
and exogamy are important factors for marriage. Endogamy is the custom of
marrying a person within one s community, while exogamy is the practice of
marrying one from different community. Endogamy can be found in India s caste
system, Muslim marriages, Eastern Catholics marriages, and Jewish marriages. On
the other hand exogamy can be found among the Latin American communities. In
communities that practices endogamy, there has been disputation whether or whether
not the practice endogamy should still be continued. The custom of Endogamy
should still continue because it created a unique identity among the various
communities which practice it, and it is a practice that was passed from one
generation to the next. The tradition of Endogamy enables unity among the
community members, empowers the couple to practice the same religion and culture,

Athletes Get Paid Too Much Essay
Do you have any idea how huge the amount of money athletes make than people
who can save others lives? It could be, at the least, $50 million! Tom Brady who
makes about $36 million a year while doctors only make $195,000 a year! I have
realized that athletes make a great amount of money. Most people will disagree.
People say that Tom Brady is their hero, but what has he done for them? I feel
athletes get paid a little more than a small amount too much for simple reasons they
are, they get paid more than people who saves lives, they do not give anything back,
and they use their money on useless gadgets. Some athletes spend their money on
useless items such as cars and jets, while others spend their money on helping people.
One example is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example is that the country s 55,410 veterinarians made an average $91,250
per year as of May 2011, according to the BLS. This shows one part of the
unfairness with athletes being paid better than, in this case, people who save
animals that we love and show affection for. Another example I have is a statistic
done by experts, over 90 percent of the nation s 304,080 firefighters worked for
local government, including municipal and county fire departments, where
salaries averaged $48,450 per year, as of 2011. This shows of some more
importance because it shows that these men and women that go into burning
buildings and rescue children before they die in front of their horrified parents don
t make even в…“ of what athletes who play games, show off their goods , and
shoot hoops are more valued than children who these men and women save. Lastly,
according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual
salary for a teacher is approximately $55,000 per year. I am sort of surprised that
these men and women who wake up early in the morning to come to a school so
they can provide children learning skills and knowledge, don t get paid even в…“
as much as an athlete who just is going to spend it all anyway on stuff they do not
need. These are only some examples most of the others who save others. Ever ask
yourself why? Why these people don t make much when they save

Cons Of Keeping Exotic Pets
One of the main problems in settling this debate is the variable definition of exotic
pets . By the strict definition, even non native animals that are bred locally and
legally, and not taken from their natural environment, are exotic . Similarly, while the
term exotic animals usually sets alarm bells ringing, not all exotic animals are a threat
to society. Pythons and chimpanzees, primarily, are the culprits in petattacks, and such
animals are obviously dangerous, but the extremely harmless and positively cute
sugar gliders and crested geckos are not even dangerous for infants, let alone adult,
sensible pet owners.
Albeit there are such confusions, here are some points about the pros and cons of
keeping exotic pets.

ILMEA During My High School Career
Goals, for some people it can be being under the Friday Night lights, or being on

Lancer gallery is a reputed firm for the artifacts from South American, African,
Southwestern Indian, Pre Columbian. In 2001 it even expanded to sell replicas,
which could be differentiated only by a true collector. However the replicas were

with 20% growth rate per annum. The company distributes its products through
reputed dealers, department stores and the firm sponsored shows. The company s
loyal customers are the artifacts collectors. The company is facing some issues with
respect to the market sales currently. As said by Myron Rangard, National Sales

political situation in Africa is causing the problem. The company has to contend with
the government as it not allowing exportation due to national significance . The

The Narrative Essay

  • 1. The Narrative Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Narrative Essay" may initially seem deceptively straightforward, given the apparent familiarity with the genre. However, delving into the intricacies of constructing a compelling narrative can unveil a spectrum of challenges that require careful consideration and adept writing skills. Firstly, the writer must grapple with the delicate balance between storytelling and conveying a meaningful message. While narratives are inherently driven by a sequence of events, it is crucial to seamlessly weave these elements into a coherent and engaging narrative arc. Crafting a compelling introduction that captures the reader's attention, followed by a well-paced plot development, and culminating in a satisfying conclusion, demands a nuanced understanding of narrative structure. Moreover, the art of character development adds another layer of complexity. Characters within a narrative essay must be more than mere actors in a sequence of events; they should be vehicles through which the writer communicates the central theme or message. Striking the right balance between detailed characterization and maintaining the overall brevity of the essay is a tightrope walk. The challenge is not only confined to the technical aspects of writing but also extends to the emotional depth required to resonate with readers. Establishing a connection between the narrator and the audience demands an acute awareness of tone, empathy, and an ability to infuse the narrative with authenticity. Additionally, the choice of the narrative itself can be a hurdle. Selecting an event or experience that is not only personally significant but also universally relatable adds another layer of complexity. The writer must navigate the fine line between being too esoteric or too commonplace, striving to strike a chord with a diverse readership. In essence, crafting an essay on "The Narrative Essay" necessitates a keen understanding of narrative techniques, character development, emotional resonance, and the art of selecting a compelling story. It is a task that requires a delicate interplay of creativity and structure, making the process challenging yet rewarding. For those seeking assistance in navigating the intricacies of essay writing or exploring a diverse array of topics, professional writing services like HelpWriting.net offer a wealth of resources. • 2. The City s Love, By Lucille Clifton The love affair between a city and the people who reside there can be influential in a person s life. Cities share a relationship with their residents and the residents start to ponder about their emotional relationship with their homes. In in the inner city by Lucille Clifton, the speaker thinks of uptown and how different it is compared to her home, the inner city. The speaker sees how unique the inner city is and takes pride in her home. In The City s Love by Claude McKay the speaker experiences a brief moment of acceptance by the city. Both Clifton and McKay s poem both illustrate joy towards a city. The connotation used to describe their joy allows the reader to see the different relationships that the two speakers have with their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The City s Love , McKay uses imagery such as similes to depict how appreciative and satisfied the speaker is. In the first lines the reader can infer that the moment that the speaker is talking about is uncommon and treasures his experience: For one brief golden moment rare like wine, The gracious city swept across the line; (l. 1 2). Collaborating his first thoughts to his closing ones The great, proud city, seized with a strange love, (l. 7) The speaker describes this love as strange and golden because he was used to the mistreatment in a different far more discriminatory city. This city shows affection towards him making the speaker forget that he is different from the majority The gracious city swept across the line; Oblivious of the color of my skin, Forgetting that I was an alien guest, (l. 2 4). Even though the speaker has experienced hate from another society he ends up finding a city that seems to give the speaker affection, which reveals the loving relationship the speaker and the city
  • 3. How Did The Triple Alliance Cause Ww1 Woodrow Wilson once said: Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together. And right he was, or else he would not have said this in the year 1919, when he joined the Peace Conference and became one of the Big Four. The Big Four were the allied winners of World War I who created the Peace Conference to prevent another war from happening. They did this by establishing and agreeing upon laws and peace terms. To this day, historians have not recognized the main reason of World War I starting, they have rather come up with a list of causes that contributed to starting the war. One popular way that these causes have been listed is by M.A.I.N, an acrostic for: Militarism, Alliance System, Imperialism, and Nationalism. Each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many may believe that the introduction of new weapons and armies is what contributed the most to the war, but that not accurate as weaponry is bound to be introduced in all wars, and the only thing that it does is make the other country come up with some sort of protection against it. Militarism was not something that took place before the war, it was more of a factor that was invented during it and something that might have caused some scenarios. Many people might argue that the Austrians thought a lot about imperialism and how that would help them get rid of the Serbians and put them in their place, but that was not necessarily the way that the Austrians did not get along with the Serbians. Yes, they felt like the Serbians were peace disrupters, but not once was it mentioned by the Austrians in their law books and articles that they wanted to take over Serbia. On the contrary, Franz Ferdinand had plans to make countries more united and on better terms. Others argue that Nationalism was what made great changes to World War I, and though that may be the case for many wars, this war was not based mostly off of who was of better blood or who was smarter or better as an individual. This war was simply an argument between two countries that did not get along and
  • 4. Abortion As A Medical Or Surgical Procedure Abortion is described as a medical or surgical procedure to remove a fetus and the placenta from a woman s uterus by a trained healthcare worker (Nih.gov.2014). After hearing a case named Roe vs. Wade the Supreme Court, abortion was made legal in the United States in 1973. For a very long time, I was against abortiondue to lack of information and exposure to other cultures. Because I grow up in a very religious household, the word abortion was definitely not part of the vocabulary. My parents taught me to believe that abortion was a sin against God and that removing a pregnancy equals to committing a murder. However, since my move to the United States I learned that in life, it is not always black or white; therefore my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people have different views about abortion and they feel strongly about the debate. I believe that everyone views are individual and mostly feel motivated because of religious beliefs or personal experiences. Prior to watching the videos, I did not realize how much people struggle to make abortion legal in the United States. However I did know about illegal abortions because they are frequently done in West Africa where I grew up. Moreover the video showed when times women were having pregnancies removed against the law. Nonetheless women who decided not to carry an unwanted pregnancy due to one reason or other have found ways to have an abortion. Being in desperate situations basically made them resort to dangerous and sometimes deadly methods. Many of these women had to be hospitalized for complications or lost their lives too ashamed to seek for help or for fear of criminal charges. Before being legalized, it was estimated that over a million of illegal abortions was done and over a thousand of women have died due to complications and infections. (Castle .M. A 2011). The things that impressed me the most in the video are the fact that the country saw was the rise of the women movement to fight against the inequalities and unfair treatments toward them. According to video, young activist marched the streets, organized public speeches to demand the legal right to abortion in many States. In addition, the things that I did not agree with
  • 5. Submerged Radial Gates With A Sill Hydraulics of Submerged Radial Gates with a Sill Abstract In this paper the submerged flow through radial gates with and without a gate sill was experimentally investigated. The effect of different gate sill heights on contraction coefficient, discharge coefficient, submerged jump length, backup water depth, flow energy dissipation, and velocity distribution with different hydraulic parameters were analyzed and graphically presented. A combination of dimensional and regression analysis tools was employed to develop reliable formulas for estimating the studied parameters. This paper concluded the negative influence of sills under submerged radial gates and justified the local scour phenomena occurred immediately downstream the stilling basin of some existing submerged radial gates with a gate sill in Egypt. Keywords: Radial gate; gate sill; submerged flow characteristics; submerged hydraulic jump; velocity field. 1.Introduction Radial (tainter) gates are among the most common features of water control structures in many irrigation networks overall the world. They are employed to regulate both water level and flow discharge in irrigation canals. Radial gates are preferred over vertical sluice gates for several advantages. They require smaller hoisting force, have easier operation, produce lower flow disturbance, and provide better discharge (Sehgal 1996). The flow through radial gates is classified as either free flowing or submerged depending upon the tailwater depth and
  • 6. Jean Vygotsky Vs Piaget How do children think and how do they learn? These questions could possibly be answered by exploring the psychological perspective. The cognitive developmental theory seeks to describe how knowledge is obtained in addition to the construction of thought processes. The first individual who proposed a methodical cognitive developmental theory was Jean Piaget, however, there are many other theories pertaining to cognitive development, for instance, those of Lev Vygotsky. Piaget developmental approach derived from a self supporting, biological perspective, whereas Vygotsky s approach acquired social and environmental factors. Despite the differences or strengths and weaknesses, both made astonishing cognitive applications to child development. Jean William Fritz Piaget, also known as Jean Piaget was born on August 9, 1896, in Neuchatel, Switzerland; born to Rebecca Jackson and Arthur Piaget; both of which had a major impact on Piaget s life. Piaget s father was a medieval literary scholar with an interest in local history. Piaget idolized his father s dedication to work and adopted his skeptical, scientific attitude at an early age. However, Piaget often described his mother as neurotic or poor in mental health combined with her religious enthusiasm which lead Piaget to become enticed with psychology. Unfortunately, Piaget grew up quite fast but had various interests. From age seven to ten, he became interested in mechanics, birds, seashells, and fossils of secondary

  • 10. Moral Economic System Introduction Creating a moral economic system should be the ultimate goal of every society. A moral economy is one that is founded on the principles of justice, fairness and goodness. A moral economic system ensures equitable allocation of resources which are scarce in nature and configures markets to ensure that they run fairy. The end results are to realize a stable economy that is free from exploitation, political insecurity and wars. A moral economic systemfosters peace and satisfaction among the citizens of a nation (SEA, Browne, Milgram, 2009). It also creates a level ground for fair competition among various economic drivers reducing negative rivalry that is retrogressive to economic development and welfare hence the general improvement of the gross domestic product. A good GDP creates a good environment to run economic activities which leads to the increment government revenues and improvement of the infrastructure. Free market and Capitalism In a free market, the market is left under the control of demand and supply. However, this can be taken advantage of by the capitalists who are out to leap the best from the economy. The profit maximization that prevails in a free market is a threat to the move towards a moral economic system (SEA, Browne, Milgram, 2009). This is because capitalist have always found immoral ways of interfering with the market forces of demand and supplies. For example, hoarding of goods have been a common practice in free markets creating
  • 11. The Truth And Reconciliation Commission From South Africa The degree of success achieved by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in South Africa is a topic of great debate. Following the end of apartheid in 1994, the TRC came into operation in South Africa on the 19th of July 1995 (Stanley 2001). After an era of repression and human rights abuses there was a significant need for a form of transitional justice that not only addressed the torment endured by much of the population but also ensured that the structural inequalities of the past were properly dealt with. It was essential that South Africa s new political strategy encompassed the key aspects of social justice, the rule of law and reconciliation (Stanley 2001). A major aspect of TRCs is the promotion of truth to instigate a process of healing and result in successful reconciliation (Wilson 2003). However there are strong arguments that the TRC did not adequately address these issues and was therefore not successful in achieving the objectives set out in its mandate. This paper will discuss the main strengths and weaknesses of the TRC in South Africa as well as querying whether other forms of transitional justice would have been more appropriate for this situation. Furthermore it will discuss the use of the International Criminal Court around the world and whether this is a more appropriate form of transitional justice. One of the main limitations of the TRC in South Africa that has been presented is a lack of commitment by both the commission itself and the

Link between Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Criminal Behaviour, its impact on law And How to prevent / treat the sufferers to lessen the impact on society. Introduction The American Psychitric Association explains Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as the experience of a traumatic event that is followed by the persistence of re experiencing the same or a similar event and results into the symptoms of two clusters in PTSD i.e. increased arousal and avoidance (Roberts, 2011). When a patient develops PTSD then his/her emotions and sensation about the traumatic event lead them towards a life of suffering. whenever the trauma replays it leads towards the sensations and increases distress (Hughes, 2011). An example of a factor that can lead to PTSD is sexual abuse. Research evidenced that a significant proportion of the victims of sexual abuse have become traumatised which leads them towards PTSD (Bender, 2010). According to Roberts, in the 19th and 20th centuries most of the theories and research have been swung back and forth between the occasion and predisposition. It is found that the occurrence of PTSD is thought to occur either because of the existence of a mental illness due to the undesired circumstances affecting the memories of the victim, or because of the occurrence of similar events frequently (Van der Kolk and McFarlane, 2012). Most of the people have intrusive thoughts in their memories about what happened which is followed by the traumatic event
  • 13. The Joy Of Running Research Paper Running is a linear sport. Many runners spend a great deal of energy twisting their upper bodies, fighting the efforts of the lower body. Think of the zipper line on a jacket running down the center of your torso. If your hands cross that zipper line, the shoulders and the top half of the body usually follow the hands. The torque created from the waist up is energy that could be used to run faster. Periodically, glance down at the position of your hands at the front part of your arm swing. If you see your thumb and forefinger, your hands are likely crossing the zipper line. A slight adjustment is all that s needed. Hold your hands a little wider from your body, slightly wider than your hips. As your arm swings back, think about reaching into your back pocket. This extends your reach further in a straight line with less crossing over the zipper line. hen fatigued, our arm... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tension in our forearms rises up to our shoulders and extends to the rest of our body. This tension makes our hearts work harder to push oxygen rich blood into our muscles, resulting in more wasted energy and, ultimately, a slower pace. To release this tension, think about holding an imaginary potato chip without breaking it. If your fists are clenched so tightly that you can t hold that chip, wiggle your fingers and loosen your grip. Body tension will reverse, allowing the deliverance of more oxygen rich blood to our muscles with each heartbeat. We ll return to a smoother, longer, more efficient stride, and more energy is saved for the finishing kick. Zipper lines, chicken wings and potato chips are early warning signs of fatigue and inefficient running form. By paying attention to our body s signals, each is easily and quickly corrected. Once corrected, your endurance level will improve, you ll hold your pace for a longer period of time and your good form will carry you through? to the finish line on race
  • 14. Reasons For The Abolition Of The Slave Trade APFWhy was the slave trade abolished in 1807? 16/11/17 As a slave you are property of your owner. Your owner controls where you work, how you work, your living and eating. Slavery had been around for centuries but by the 1700 s attitudes were beginning to change. The slave trade was abolished in 1807, but you must keep in mind that it was only the trade of slaves that was banned not slavery itself! The members of the Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade tactically decided to focus on a campaign to persuade Parliament to ban the trading in slaves. This was because they felt they were more likely to succeed than if they demanded the abolition of all slavery throughout the empire. They expected that the complete abolition would continue naturally. In economy the slave trade had become less important. There was no longer a need for large numbers of slaves to be imported to the British colonies to work on sugar plantations because there was a world over supply of sugar. This also meant that British merchants had difficulties re exporting it. Also sugar could be cheaply bought without the use of slavery from Britain s other colonies. For example, India. The Industrial Revolutions that were happening in France and England and advances and improvements in agriculture were benefiting the British economy and provided new sources of wealth and more efficient production without the need for slaves. Especially as the government began to realise the costs and dangers of the slave

  • 18. Comparing WWI And World War II World War I and World War II are very similar, but is World War II an extension of the First World War? Although there were many different aspects involving both World Wars, events at the end of World War I did lead into the second war. Various alliances, poor economics, and countries wanting supreme control are a few aspects of how they are similar. Basically, World War II was a continuation of World War I . Many of the same alliances that were present in the First World War were present in the Second World War. In the first war, the allied forces consisted of France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, and The United States. These forces were the same in the Second World War, except for Italy, who joined the axis forces. The Axis forces in the first war were Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of young boys are stranded on an island where they try to maintain a civilization far away from society. The conch shell that Piggy and Ralph find is used to create a small democracy on the island. It is a symbol of the civilization on the island, the orderthat the boys have, and the powerthat a single person can possess. It represents how much of a connection they have to society, and the degree of civilization that still remains. The conch is an important part of their survival because without the conch, the boys can no longer live in harmony with one another and will eventually destroy each other. Without order and civilization, the island cannot be called a society. They can no longer hold themselves together, and have a higher chance of destruction. Over time, the boys begin to lose sight of civilization. When the conch is finally destroyed, the order between them is destroyed as well. The conch shell symbolizes the boys civilization, order, and power. At the beginning of the story, the conch is emphasized as a symbol of order, as that is the first idea that comes up when an assembly is established. When the conch is blown, all of the boys head to the mountain where Piggy and Ralph are located. The conch constituted order for them and allowed them to start a civilization in the first place. It also represents power among the boys. Golding shows Ralph s

This completely goes against the British evidence which clearly says that they did not give the command to fire and were giving orders to not fire. Also, since he was captured by the colonists, he obviously wants to say something that pleases them since they are his audience. That makes his evidence unreliable since he could have made that up to please the colonists who had captured him. Next up is Sylvanus Wood who was a commonwealth of Massachusetts and gave a sworn testimony on June 17, 1826. Claudio shows how malicious he can be by leaving her at the altar, in front of all her friends and family, publically shaming her in the process. It also shows how he tends to think the worst of those around him and his need to get even. This need to humiliate her shows he is really only considered with himself and his happiness. Claudio finally grows to maturity when he takes responsibility for Hero s death and graciously complies to do whatever Leonato asks as punishment. Can lay upon my sin. Yet sinned I not but in mistaking (88 89.) This apology by Claudio shows a lot of courage and humility, both signs of maturity. It is always hard to admit doing something wrong, especially if what was done has affected someone else. This act shows a lot of courage on Claudio s part because the punishment could have been very severe, seeing as Leonato is governor of Messina. He apologizes because even though he was hurt by Hero s supposed betrayal,

Jekyll states in the short story With every day, and from both sides of my intelligence, the moral and the intellectual, I thus drew steadily nearer to that truth, by whose partial discovery I have been doomed to such a dreadful shipwreck: that man is not truly one, but truly two (Stevenson 52). Although, Stevenson s leads us to separate the two characters based on their actions, however, it is not clear and neither are many of the symbolic devices the author employs. Schizoaffective disorder, however, has not because it is relatively new. Dr. Jekyll suffered many symptoms that could have linked him to this disorder such as his delusions of being two people, mood swings, and alcoholism. Throughout the story Dr.Jekyll shows signs of having a multiple personality or what others would call the double brain. Dr. Jekyll strongly believes that Hyde is his evil self personified which leads to the conclusion that he may have been delusional if this situation was thought of logically. In addition to delusions, Dr. Jekyll seems to have mood swings that may have been caused by schizoaffective disorder. After Hyde had supposedly committed murder Dr. Jekyll became more social with his former friends. According to the Stevenson, Now that the evil influence had been withdrawn, a new life began for Dr.Jekyll. He came out of his seclusion, renewed relations with his friends.... The Legacy of Perceptions of Interracial Relationships as Demonstrated in Late 19th and Early 20th Century Black Literature and Events The history of interracial relationships in America is a painfully loaded issue which is still evolving in the consciousness of the 20th century. Because the first instances of sexual integration occurred under the institution of slavery, our understanding of them is necessarily beset with dominance, violence, and rape. Interracial relationships and the children they produced became another manifestation of power relationships between whites and blacks in our contorted social atmosphere. Their Eyes Were Watching God And The Road Unknown Forces and Their Impact The books, Their Eyes Were Watching God and The Road, seem to be completely different from each other for various reasons. One takes place in the south during the early 1900 s while the other takes place in the future after an apocalyptic event. However, both books share a similar idea. In both books the main characters have spiritual connections with an unknown force that is the main cause of both their misfortune and their happiness. Overall, both authors from Their Eyes Were Watching Godand The Road believe that there is a higher being that has control over both the good and bad aspects of life. Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurstonfollows a young African American woman named Janie as she tells her friend Pheoby about her past experiences. It can be assumed that nature as well higher being or unknown force drives Janie s morals and shapes her experiences. The first instance where Janie connects with nature in a significant way was an experience she had when she was sixteen. She was lying under the peartree in her backyard when she noticed the bees around the tree. She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister calyxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage! She had been summoned to behold a revelation (Hurston 10). Something out of Janie s control brought

  • 47. Romanticism In Film Romanticism was a movement that started in the 1700 s that focused on emphasizing pathos, inspiration, individualism and superiority. Most films have a dimension of romance between a main character and a supporting character. A romance film is any film that the central storyline features the romantic involvement of two characters. Many romantic films do not have fairy tale stories or happy endings, although love serves as a shield against the harshness of the real world. Romantic films often elaborate the main theme of love at first sight. Romanticism refers back to the romantic characters of the Middle Ages and also modern films. Romantic love on film is a universal human experience that produces intensely powerful, strong feelings. Romantic Literature has had a strong influence on modern day films through pathos, folklore, and love. Pathos is a communication technique used most often in rhetoric, and in literature, film and other narrative. Pathos is a appeal to the emotions of the person, and elicits feelings that already reside in them. Pathos is also a communication technique used most often in rhetoric, and in literature, film and movies. Disney has perfected the art of using pathos to popularize their many hit movies. Essentially, Disney plays on the feelings of their audience to create emotional connections between them and the characters. Some movies for an example would be snow white, cinderella, lion king, tarzan, the little mermaid, beauty and the beast,
