2. Flq And The Quiet Revolution
This argument between the two groups reached a climax during the 1960 s. All
hopes of partnership and cooperation between the two seemed to disappear after the
change in provincial leadership.
This period of massive reform that overtook Quebec was given the name: The Quiet
Revolution. It did not only cause division within the nation, but als, rifts within
Quebec itself. The province was an unstable society where rapid changes [had]
occurred, but which [had] not absorbed [those] transformations at an equal rate.
Groups formed on both sides of arguments concerning separatism, maintaining French
culture, and social classes within society. People felt lost while everything was
changing so quickly and so drastically; defined, opinionated, and unwavering groups
began to emerge. Some of these were terrorist groups who felt very strongly about
the path that Quebec should be taking, and were unafraid to impose their beliefs on
others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is difficult to define exactly what the FLQ stood for, since there were many
smaller cells that had different priorities. Each group worked semi independently and
had goals that reflected the views of their respective members, which were not always
synonymous with the larger FLQ viewpoint. The members came from diverse
backgrounds and places in society, meaning that the terrorist organization infiltrated a
little everywhere. The wide spread nature of this group meant that there was support
from many sectors within society, allowing the FLQ to act without fear of being
3. Essay On The Shawshank Redemption
In the film The Shawshank Redemption the director, Frank Darabont, uses many
significant scenes throughout the film to present the idea, institutionalisation, to the
audience. To do this, Darabont skilfully uses lighting, voice over, motif and
foreshadowing to present the idea which helps to develop and further the idea of the
text. One of the most important segments in The Shawshank Redemptionwhich uses a
number of these techniques is Brooks release up until his suicide.
There are two techniques which aid in showing the idea of the text during Brooks
release, these are lighting and foreshadowing. Once brooks accepts that he can t
stay in the prison, inside the walls he now calls home, he unwillingly parts with Jake.
Jake is a pet black, raven which was raised by Brooks. Brooks walks out of the dark

He lifts him to a small window erupting with bright light. This could be said to be
Jake s light at the end of the tunnel a popular saying attached to death. Jake, much
like Brooks, is institutionalised, he was raised by brooks inside the prison. He
was fed the grubs from prisoners meals and never learnt to catch grubs for himself,
or any experiance in the wild. It is often said a caged bird will not survive outside
its natural habitat. By leaving Shawshank, both Jake and Brooks walk (fly) out of
their natural habitat. These walls are funny. First you hate em, then you get used
to em. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on em. That s institutionalised .
The scene in which Brooks is in the park uses a voice over and lighting to show
how sullen Brooks is. As Brooks sits on the park bench, a tree shades him to
symbolise Brooks continuous lack of hope. The birds which he is feeding are in the
light signifying that they can go anywhere, they are free. The birds can escape from
danger and go to and from home as they please, but Brooks does not have

5. The Success Of Walt Disney
Without a doubt, Walt Disney was an incredible inspiration in the cartoon industry.

Walt Disney always found a way to get through obstacles and made a massive impact
in the cartoon industry. Indeed, it s highly influenced by Walt Disney. Above all, he
was an incredibly humble man with the greatest intention of huge dreams. Though he
may have faced the most difficult problems, he didn t hesitate to try.

has won more than forty awards. He has been through incredible struggles, but has
gotten his way to a beautiful destination. Now he s famous. Notably, he grew up
poor and drew drawings for his neighbors. He dropped out of school at the age of
sixteen and tried to join the military but got rejected. Certainly, he tried again, and got
accepted. His first office got bankrupt and he ended up moving to Burbank. But that
same office also went at war during World War II and he nearly lost everything as a
result. He lost Pinocchio, Fantasia and Bambi, along with the cost of the new studio

to do. According to www.justdisney.com He didn t live life easy, but he received a
remarkable amount of awards for his pay off at trying.
Lastly, knowing Walt Disney, he puts cartoon and fun into a bit of everything. For
example, even when Walt Disney was 16, he drove an ambulance in France. But
instead of having camouflage as his car, he had cartoons. Particularly, Walt Disney
had an inspiration with drawing. It s important to realize, all he ever wanted to do
was draw. He had high expectations with high standards. In fact, Walt Disney was
typically a shy and insecure man. But Disney has grown

Pablo Escobar had a great impact on drug trade to the U.S. in the 1980s. How he got
into cocaine, how he smuggled, it shows and how he was brought down.
Pablo Escobar was born January 12, 1949. After being kicked out of school , he
began his career as a thief in streets of Medellin Colombia. Its rumored that Escobar
got his start by stealing tomb stones from local cemeteries, then sand blasting them
and re selling them to Panama. Pablo then started on the drug scene by smoking
Colombia s highly potent pot. He would continue to do this the rest of his life.

How ever law enforcement was closing in on Escobar. The U.S. want him to be
extradited to the U.S. but Escobar surrendered to the Colombian s in exchange for
a promise not to be extradited to the U.S. He was able to design his own luxurious
prison and continued to run his business behind the walls. Fifty new charges were
brought against Pablo, including political assassination and mass murder. Escobar
confessed to just one shipment of cocaine to Europe. When two men came and
told Pablo he was being transferred to a military prison, Pablo would have none of
this, and he took out hidden weapons, taking the two men hostage. After a night of
negotiations 400 army commandos stormed the jail, but Escobar and his brother,
along with many others, were gone. After 16 months on the run, he was finally
hunted down by Columbian police with the aid of U.S. technology that recognized
Escobar s voice on a cell phone. On December 2, 1993 Pablo Escobar was killed
trying to run away on a roof top in one of his safe houses in Columbia.

7. Reduce Debt
Real Ways to Reduce Debt
Things were looking up, your job was going well, your bank account was growing,
and your wardrobe was stylish. Then, the recession hit. You lost your job or had
your hours reduced, you had to borrow and use credit cards, and before you knew it
you were over your head in debt.
Millions of Americans can relate to the scenario above, and millions more can
relate to slight variations of it. Tens of millions of Americans have debt issues they
need to deal with, and for African American families the situation is even more dire,
since they are far more likely to have incurred high levels of revolving debt.
Here are 5 tried and true methods to reducing that debt and moving toward financial
freedom.
1. Know your debt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Divide and Conquer. There are two main schools of thought on paying off debt.
One is to attack the debt with the largest interest rate since it costs the most money
to keep out there. The other is to choose the smallest debts first and start knockin
them off one by one. Each time you finish one, take the extra money and apply it
toward the next debt. Not only will you have less debt, but you will see and feel a
sense of accomplishment as your debt numbers drop.
4. Create a Budget. The Huffington Post suggests using the 50:30:20 budget rule .
The rule says fifty percent of your budget goes toward needs like housing, insurance,
and transportation. Thirty percent goes towards wants like clothing, services, and
entertainment, and twenty percent goes into savings. Unless you re in debt
elimination mode which requires you to save less and pay more.
5..Automate Payments. During your pre selected debt payment time, set up
automatic payments from an on line banking system. This way, you will not forget
to pay your bills. The danger is having a bill get paid when you forget to have
enough money in the account to pay it. Overdraft or insufficient balance fees can add

9. The Issue Of Same Sex Marriage

I...My chosen topic is Gay Rights more specifically marriage equality. Public
opinion in the U.S. shows the majority support for the legal recognition of same sex
marriages. This issue is more likely to be supported by women and people under 50.
My thesis is that marriage equality a civil right, rights we are born with as a citizen
of the U.S. which the government cannot interfere with or suppress. (Lecture Notes
8/27). Over the past decade, marriage equality has become an even larger and more
controversial issue. The issue of same sex marriage equality is being supported today
in 33 states by the means of laws, court cases and social changes in our society.
II... The issue of equal legal right to marry for same sex couples first surfaced in
court around the 1970s but was immediately rejected. In the 1990s several
California lawyer s organizations supported a proposed bill to permit same sex
marriage. In 1996, President Bill Clinton signed into law the Defense of Marriage
Act, which defines marriage as being strictly between a man and a woman, and
expresses that states do not have to recognize same sex marriages that occur in other
states. In 1997, Hawaii enacts a domestic partnership legislation with limited rights
for same sex partners. That same year, anti same sex marriage laws were in place in
12 states. In Baker v. State (1999), the Vermont Supreme Court concludes that

Most of the Blacks who didn t follow rules were in danger. There s no discrimination

12. Explore What It Meant To Be An American
For the past year I have been in America to explore what it meant to be an
American. Being an American means to having tremendous pride in their country.
Some examples that show their pride is through their art, literature and music
/dance. One way Americans show their pride is through their art. The most popular
type is called folk art. Folk art is art made by ordinary people (as opposed to trained
artists) using traditional methods. Another type of art was portraits. Portraits are
accurate and realistic paintings of a person, typically done by a professional artist
but could be done by anyone. Some famous artists are John James Audubon who
painted detailed portraits of various birds. Another is George Catlin, his art
13. Hagar Leaving Abraham s House In Genesis
Hagar and Ishmael s story in Genesis is often understood in the light of Isaac being
the rightful heir to Abraham s inheritance and legacy through the abandonment and
expulsion of Hagar and Ishmael. At first glance, the story portrays Hagar as an
outsider, an Egyptian servant, who is beneath Sarah, the mistress; thus, this difference
in position justifies Hagar and Ishmaels abandonment from Abraham s house. A
closer look at the story evokes the reader s sympathy for Hagar and Ishmael s unfair
treatment since Ishmael is the firstborn son. This subtle detail drawn between the
lines suggests that there an underlying message in this narrative. In this paper, I will
discuss how the two accounts of Hagar leaving Abraham s house in Genesis 16 and...

In the first account, the text states that Sarah s inability to bear Abraham a child led
her to take matters into her own hands by giving her Egyptian maidservant, Hagar,
to Abraham as a concubine so that he can bear him a child through Hagar. After
Hagar and Abraham cohabited, she became pregnant, which caused Sarah to be
disturbed by her status in Hagar s eyes. Sarah complained to Abraham and he told
her to deal with it as she thinks fit as Hagar is her maidservant. This caused Sarah
to treat Hagar harshly and resulted in Hagar fleeing from her master s house to run
from Sarah. An angel of YHWH found her near a spring on the road to Shur and
told her to return to her master s house and submit to the harsh treatment, while also
instilling (?) some blessings to her. This narrative ended with the birth of Ishmael
when Abraham was eighty six years old. The second text in Genesis 21 begins with
the fulfillment of God s promise to Sarah with the birth of Isaac when Abraham was
a hundred years old. Sarah was delighted with Isaac s birth and was laughing at the
people who mocked her for her inability to bear Abraham a son. During Isaac s
feast, she saw Ishmael playing with Isaac, which saddened her and she demanded
that Hagar and Ishmael be cast out as she did not want Ishmael, the son of a slave,
to share the same inheritance as Isaac. Abraham was greatly distressed by Sarah s
request, but God told him to not worry and follow Sarah s demand for it is through
Isaac that offspring shall be continued for you (Gen. 21:12) and He will bless
Ishmael by [making] a nation of him (21:13). The next morning, with God s
instructions, Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael away and gave them some bread and
water. When Hagar ran out of water in the wilderness of Beersheba, an angel of God

14. Connotation In Cry The Beloved Country
The author uses the word forlorn, used on page 35 of the book Cry, the Beloved
Country in the sentence About you there is grass and bracken and you may hear
the forlorn crying of the Titihoya, one of the birds of the veld. Below you is the
valley of the Umzimkulu , instead of the word sorrowful even though both mean
unhappy because forlorn gives more of negative connotation and better describes
the setting. This is appropriate in this context because the village of Umzimkulu is
put in a state of abandonment and social instability. Residents are part of a
conglomerate which pertains to abuse and racial discrimination. This word
effectively shows the message of prejudice shown by Paton. The author uses the
word deteriorate, used on page 179 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the
sentence But it was not permissible to watch its destruction, and to replace it by
nothing, or by so little, that a whole people deteriorates, physically and morally ,
instead of the word decline even though both mean to become worse progressively.
Paton uses this word because it gives a negative connotation that is prevalent
throughout the book. Deterioration is a good word to use to describe the state of
the tribal system within Umzimkulu. The social stability that is prevalent between
residents of Umzimkulu is falling apart or deteriorating. It shows that the South
African social structure is falling as a whole. The author uses the word voiceless,
used on page 110 of the book Cry, the Beloved Country in the sentence others say
this is a danger, for better paid labour will not only buy more but will also read
more, think more, ask more, and will not be content to be forever voiceless and
inferior , instead of the word silent even though they both mean not speaking. The
author uses the word voiceless because it describes the state of black South
Africans during the time of racial prejudice and apartheid. Paton uses this word to
give a tone that blacks had no voice during the time. Like Kumalo and Absalom,
they are taken advantage of by whites and as a result, one is in a state of sorrow
while another has become promiscuous due to prejudice. The author uses the word
disintegration, used on page 178 of the book Cry, the

At this point in the novel, Girl With a Pearl Earring, Johannes Vermeer, the famous
painter of the 1600 s, has taking a special liking to Griet, he describes her in the
novel as a muse like figure. After sharing his life story, and feelings towards his
paintings and fame with Griet, he asks that she pose for a painting. Griet allows
Vermeer to do so, not solely because she feels the connection between them but more
so because he is her boss and is of a higher rank than her. Catharina, the wife of
Johannes Vermeerat this time, is incredibly jealous of Griet and the attention that she
gets from her husband. At the beginning of Griet s career, Catharina told Griet s
mother that she could visit on sundays while the family was at the Catholic Church.
16. Is Soccer More Important Than Soccer
My soccer coach for my select team has always taught me that winning isn t
everything. My coach prepared my team for life more than just soccer. Anytime
we thought we were going to be late, we had to communicate with him beforehand.
We never had to run because we didn t win. He only cared if we tried our hardest and
gave it our best effort. My coach taught me how to be a good man while teaching me
how to be a good soccer player as well.
My coaches name was coach Matt. He had been coaching me since I was in second
grade which was when I started playing select soccer. At first, it was just all of my
friends wanting to play soccer outside of school. We weren t that good, but we had
so much fun playing that it didn t matter if we were good or bad. Our team has
been together all this time. Most teams break up or move to new teams after three or
four years but not us. All of the kids stayed on this team because we knew how good
of a man our coach was and how he was going to help us develop both as soccer
players and as men.
Another thing that my coach has taught me is that school is always more important
than soccer. My coach would always check up on my teammates and I to see how
were doing in school. My coach enjoyed hearing us talk about things other than soccer
like hobbies, school, and family. He liked getting to know us and he thought that
getting to know each other was also important for us. He thought that if we
communicated better outside of soccer, we would communicate

Working as part of a group of four students, an end to end data warehouse application
was designed and built as part of the Orion Sword Group Consultancy project for the
Data warehouse course module.
The implementation of the data warehouse was based on Kimball s (Kimball and

analysis and determination of data realities and the four step dimensional modelling
design process. These was followed by the design and
18. Gender and Power in Perpetua s Passion
Perpetua s Passion is one of the only few records of the life of a female martyr
Vibia Perpetua. This record is very special because it contains Perpetua s own
narrative of her last days before her execution, along with an editor s comments.
Most of Perpetua s narrative is about her experience after the capture, and her
dreams, or visions, or the revelations of the divine to Perpetua. In this paper, I will
discuss the presentation the symbols in her dreams, in order to exam the power
balance of female and male presented in her voice, and reveal the struggle of
Perpetua s voice under the editor s manipulation. Perpetua s background already
highlights her significance in the Christian community and even among the
Christian women. Since we now have her own narrative of her days in the prison,
we as readers can conclude that she was very likely to be literate and maybe well
educated. According to W.V. Harris, Perpetua knew Latin, and maybe Greek also.
Brent D. Shaw says in his article that Vibia Perpetua s family name indicates that this
was a locally prestigious family that had obtained their Roman citizenship for
generations. The high social status of Perpetua is an advocating point in reinforcing
the unconditioned devotion to God among Christians, especially among Christian
women. As a woman with Perpetua s significant background, Perpetua became more
powerful in delivering the message of her dramatic life experience and her faith.

This program was my first introduction to political economy and activism. I chose it
because I had extremely limited exposure to both topics. In addition, the class
featured an environmental and native studies aspect; both are core to my academic
goals. I gained experience in the above topics through class discussions, workshops,
lectures, and the class field trip.
The field trip to Skagit Valley is what really ignited my learningin the class. Until
week five, my bank of knowledge was rapidly growing while my comprehension of
class concepts was stagnant. Visiting Skagit Valley made me more comfortable in the
class, and relieved me from depressing lectures about white supremacy, the patriarchy,
and capitalism. I achieved growth in every aspect
20. The Hippie Movement In The 1960 s
The 1960 s were a decade of revolution and change in politics, music and society
around the U.S. The 60 s were also an era of protest. Many of the protest were for
the unfair treatment of races (civil right movement). Female activists demanded
more rights, the birth control pill and contraceptives were introduced as well. The
hippie trend however, was the most brave and boldest movement in the 60 s.
(English online) The hippie movement started with young people in their teens
/early 20s. They were known as rebels to the society. They went into public with
sometimes barely to no clothes. They smoked marijuana, drunk alcohol, and were
big believers in pre marital sex. They acted in such a way only to show the
government and the rest of the world that it was time for a change. To become a
hippie is not hard. You have to start dressing the part; more importantly, you must
have the same beliefs as everyone else in the movement. No one should follow or
think how the rest of society thinks. They dressed in tye dye, khakis, ripped jeans
and females sometimes wore flower headbands and bracelets. No certain gender
could be denied membership into the movement. Nor race; in fact, more Caucasians
were in the movement than African American (learning English). Men and women
who were 18+ could join. No one under the age... Show more content on

LSD, or Acid, was still legal at the beginning of the Hippie movement, and many
Hippies and rock bands engaged in it. Though it was legal, use was still kept a
secret. Many Hippies took hit after hit of acid, going on a continual psychedelic
trip . Marijuana use was illegal, though use of it was also high in America. Many
Hippies could be seen smoking a joint between each other anywhere they were,
though it also was kept away from authorities, for obvious illegal reasons. in the late
sixties though, hardly anyone smoked pot anymore, and Speed, STP, and Heroine
were overcoming acid as the drugs of choice
21. Demian Hermann Hesse
In life, everyone is searching for something. Some people search for things like
money, love, power, and fame while others are just simply searching for themselves.
Published in 1919, Hermann Hesse s, Demian, tells the story of an older man s
reflection on his childhood. Throughout the novel, main character Emil Sinclair
struggles to find a purpose and meaning for his life. He faces many difficulties in an
attempt to find himself. This is a novelof self discovery and the pursuit of happiness.
Because Hesse displays a power struggle between two elements of binaries, the
binaries mirror the struggles that Sinclair faces and his final acceptance of this.
The novel begins with recollections of 10 year old Sinclair. Hesse illustrates the two
realms or worlds that Sinclair is aware of at this age. One world is of light and one
world is of darkness. The world of light consists of everything good, pure, and
innocent while the world of darkness is everything evil, sin and deceit. It was
wonderful that here among us there was peace, order, and repose, duty and a clear
conscience, forgiveness and love and wonderful that all the rest existed, all those

Having grown up in the world of light, Sinclair believed in the bible and all things
God. This also means he believed in the Devil. When he enters the dark world, he
begins to experience the Devil more than God for the very first time. This is really
hard on Sinclair and he was living as frightened and tormented as a ghost (Hesse
15). It isn t until he learns about Abraxas that he finally understands the purpose of
these two binaries. But it seems that Abraxas has a much greater significance. We
may look upon the name as that of a deity who had the symbolic task combining the
godlike and the devilish (Hesse 60). Understanding Abraxas and his significance is
able to put Sinclair at some peach with God and the
22. Regional Anesthesia
Regional Anesthesia
Regional anesthesia is a type of medicine that temporarily blocks feeling in one
area of your body. You may have regional anesthesia before a medical procedure or
surgery. A health care provider who specializes in giving anesthesia
(anesthesiologist) injects the medicine near a nerve or a group of nerves. This makes
that area of the body numb.
Regional anesthesia can be used alone or in combination with other types of
anesthesia. Regional anesthesia has many benefits compared to using general
anesthesia on its own, such as:
Improved pain control after your surgery.
Less nausea, vomiting, or drowsiness after surgery. This is because less medicineis
needed to control pain.
A faster recovery.
There are three types of regional anesthesia:

If you will be going home right after the procedure, plan to have someone with you
for 24 hours.
You may need to have blood or imaging tests.
PROCEDURE
To reduce your risk of infection:
в—‹ Your health care team will wash or sanitize their hands.
в—‹ Your skin will be washed with soap.
Depending on the medical procedure you are having done, an IV tube will be
inserted into one of your veins.
The anesthesiologist will do a physical exam to find the best location to give the
regional anesthesia. A device (nerve stimulator) or imaging tool (ultrasound) may be
used to help locate the nerve. This helps prevent nerve damage.
You may be given a medicine to help you relax (sedative).
You will get regional anesthesia by injection or through a continuous infusion.
The anesthesiologist will check to make sure the medicine is working before the rest
of your medical procedure begins.
Depending on the type of regional anesthesia you received, you may have a small
bandage (dressing) placed over the injection site.
The procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals.

26. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Content Management
System
CMS or content management system is a congregation of various types of tools
applied on the internet to construct, create and manage online content. CMS is a
software installed on the web server which helps in publishing, managing, storing and
archiving various types of content like videos, audios, blogs, articles, press releases,
presentations and any other type of content on the internet without storing it on a
computer. This allows the clients to make any changes they want to the content
without uploading every time. CMS hosting also allows the clients to simply login
and access their websiteto make additions, alterations and delete any content they
want. These changes are instantly updated on the website though the client can set a
timeframe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The software keeps the articles and web design separate which gives the content
contributors to freely make their contributions without bothering about the web
design having to be updated in every page. The CMS software can update menus and
links between pages on the new content that is created by the various contributors and
it does not create any obstruction to the performance while the pages are being
recreated.
There are many CMS hosting platforms and the customers have to keep a few
considerations in mind when selecting a CMS.
The first point is the type of website that is being built. The website could be a blog,
commercial or an entertainment site. It could be news or a forum or an
educational portal. The choices are many and there are possibilities of a website
serving dual purpose of promoting the company as a business industry and secondly
as an e commerce platform. Yet another point the client has to consider is the
purpose of their website and whether CMS hosting is required or not. Thirdly it is
better to check if the CMS has a good community support. There are many free open
source CMS that have very good support through forums and
27. The Patterns Of Culture By Ruth Benedicts
In Ruth Benedicts book The Patterns of Culture , He describes the grieving habits
of the Kwakiutl Indians that reside in the Pacific North West. When someone
passes away in the tribe, the members affected by the tragedy grieve in a specific
way. The tribe members take all their grievance in their hearts and convert it into
anger, which leads them to lash out at anyone they please. This lashing out can go
to the extreme of even killing people. It does not matter to the Kwakiutl tribe if the
party chosen is guilty or not. The tribe feels that if they are hurting, innocent
people should have to feel their pain as well. In The patterns of Culture the chief
loses his niece and sister in an accident, so he has the need to take this grievance he
feels and turns it into motivation for killing an innocent party of seven men and two
children who were asleep that were a part of another tribe. At the end of the excerpt
provided in this book in module two, it even says that everyone involved in the
killings of innocent people felt good about themselves when they returned back to
where they reside.
Following the definition provided in module two, the ethical view of moral relativism
basically says that anything goes in a culture, there are no moral codes that need to
be universal to all people. Ethical or moral relativism states that every culture has a
different view of morality, and we as humans need to respect that. Going by this
explanation of moral relativism, relativists

Introduction
How does each part of your identity fall into the bioecological perspective, approach
towards development? Urie Bronfenbrenner, the man who developed this system
says we cannot fully understand development without considering how a person is
influenced by each of these levels . (Feldman,2017, p.22) The different levels of the
human ecosystem are; microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, microsystem, and the
chronosystem. The easiest way to follow the pattern is imagine we are going up a
ladder as we develop one step at a time.
Microsystem
The first system we encounter when talking about the bioecological perspective is
the microsystem. This level is best described as day to day interactions between

It twas a warm July morning and the best friends George and Jeff were out on the
water. The two boys loved fishing and they would always try to go. When they
would comeback they would always have new stories and forever memories from
their previous adventure. The boys would do whatever it took to get to a fishing
spot. The boys have stories from when they had to swim upstream to a spot, or have
to tightrope walk a dam, once they even kayak down river for 3 days just to get to a
fishing hole.
One day the two boys were in church, when George looked over at Jeff whose face
could show that he had an idea. A couple minutes later George looked over again
and made eye contact with Jeff, Jeff lipped out the words We need to talk. After the
church bells signaled the end of the service George hustled to the meeting spot under
the berry tree where him and Jeff always met. Georged asked What you wanna talk

Jeff went home after church to think about their trip. He thought about all the good
times they had and all the fish they caught on the Llano. He dreamed about their trip
and was counting down the days until his trip. At night he would dream about pulling
in a monster, or he would have nightmares of his line snapping.

The Nacirema are a contradictory and private society. Horace Miner, a sociologist,
describes them as society that ritualize and routinize their bodily functions.
However, the Nacirema is actually a representation of the American society. This
is evident in the name Nacirema which is American spelled backwards. Not only
that, but Miner states that the Nacirema idolize Notgnihsaw, who founded the
Nacirema s nation and also chopped down a cheery tree who is actually George
Washington spelled backwards. Furthermore, it is safe to say that Miller is
actually conducting his study on the American Society. In Miner s essay The
Body Rituals of the Nacirema , he talks about American Society and their obsession
with cleanliness and the up keeping of the human body. That people would go so
far as to participate in things they do not like or find uncomfortable to preserve this
custom. He speaks from the point of view of an outsider who has never heard of the

they are pleasing to the eye, and lavishing their significant other with gifts to show

Reconstruction DBQ Reconstruction after the civil war gave African Americans
an extremely limited amount of freedom compared to the equality and freedom
that slavery had denied them. Though they were free in theory, in practice, they
were not as free at all. At times, they were so restricted that they were basically
treated like slaves, even though that isn t what they were called after
reconstruction. Their freedoms in practice were not the humane freedoms they
dreamed of; their sphere of freedoms had increased very minimally compared to
what they had as slaves. Some of what they had to face now was arguably even
more brutal than what they had to face as slaves. After the Civil War, freedom for

The brutal treatment of blacks (Jim Crow laws) and the race inspired violence all
started with the freedoms and equality that were denied to the blacks after
Reconstruction, since that movement was ultimately a failure on its part. The Civil
Rights movement, guided by important and influential leaders such as Martin Luther
King Jr. and Rosa Parks, began to fight these prejudiced sentiments. It can clearly be
seen through this movement (which happened many years after Reconstruction) and
other credible sources that blacks were truly unable to reach the freedom and
equality that they deserved after the Civil War. If they had been given more freedoms
and more equality sooner, the Civil Rights movement may not have even occurred,
since racial inequality between whites and blacks caused the Civil Rights movement

39. Characteristics Of Oedipus
As many will know the great leader Oedipus as being a brave ruler but also naive
from a lack of matureness which he shows throughout the play. Aside from his
flaws Oedipus had a lot to offer for others such as the citizens and which he tried to
help them by fighting and talking to the gods and also for himself where he knew
his own strength as a leader. Oedipus knew the true definition of a great ruler the
being putting others before himself, being a problem solver, and a confident leader
but with every greatness there is a flaw. Although Oedipus was a great man and
leader he also had flaws which contributed to his tragic downfall.
Oedipus was a great man, and ruler but he was too cocky which was why it was so
hard for him to accept the truth that lead to his tragic death. He gave the audience a
preview of his arrogance when he first introduced himself as the famous as he was
referred to even by those around him. However, because of his impacting image to
everyone he was hard on himself when he let his people down by finding the truth
of his birth and the life he had been living. Due to his feeling of letting his people
down he felt that he disappointed his people who believed in him the most which
was why he was so hard on himself. He was so uneasy that he caused harm to his
own body and wanted everyone to disown him for which he already knew they
would do. Although, Oedipus was overly confident he was a good and brave man
who would do anything for his people even if

1. Without a doubt the best play of the game would be Denver Broncos linebacker
Von Miller s sack of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton that forced a
fumble. The fumble was recovered for a touchdown, and was really the first (and
one of the few) impact play of the game. Miller went on to win MVP and his team
the Super Bowl, and this clutch play early on in the game definitely had some
influence on both those things. It also set the defensive tone of the game. However,
I think the best play of the Super Bowl in general would have to be the infant s
quick moves out of the womb in the Doritos commercial. That baby had, arguably,
more speed than Miller when he got around the Panthers s offensive line to make the
sack, and the newborn deserves

Born on December 17, 1770, Beethoven was a child Maria Magdalena Keverich
and Johann Van Beethoven, where he was born and raised in Bonn, Germany. At
quite a young age, Beethoven began exhibiting impressive musical talents.
Following, Beethoven s father became his initial musical instructor, however his
methods of teaching were certainly questionable. Johann was brute, it was
accounted for by neighbors that they witnessed a small child weeping playing the
clavier while standing atop a footstool to reach the keys. His father shadowed him
and punished him for every mistake; he also overworked and deprived him of
sleep. With his father, Beethoven studied the clavier as well as the violin. He also
received additional lessons from organists in the city he resided in, adding to his
workload. Hoping for his son to be recognized as a musical prodigy, Beethoven s
first recital was held on March 26, 1778 when he was seven years old.
Unfortunately, the performance was not a success, not in the way his father had
hoped, Beethoven s talents where indeed portrayed, however it did not receive the
type of recognition that Johann had hoped for as there was no press or publicity.
Meanwhile, average was a fitting word to describe Beethoven s studies, music came
more naturally to him than anything else. Therefore, he withdrew from school at the
age of ten and committed his life to music. Following, he began to study music with

Barbarians
3.J.M. Coetzee s Waiting for the Barbarians
3.1 Critical Discourse Analysis
In Coetzee s slim novel Waiting for the Barbarians, the author focuses on the abiding
problems of man s malicious treatment of men and women. During the composition
of Coetzee s third novel, the anti apartheid activist Stephen Biko was murdered in
prison. The subsequent media coverage of the public inquiry provided Coetzee with
his theme for Waiting for the Barbarians; The effects of totalitarianism and torture on
the life of liberal conscience [and] the simultaneous processes of distancing and
homecoming (Attwell 201). Throughout the novel, the Magistrate is repulsed, and

Eventually, the Magistrate realizes that true reciprocation between him and the
barbarian girl proves to be impossible, and he makes the determination of taking
her back to her own Place. This literary cocktail invented by Coetzee in Waiting for
the Barbarians is incredibly powerful: an intricate merger of cultural Otherness, an
idiosyncratic sexual desire involving a tortured body, and an Empire teetering on
the brink of collapse. What is more, the Magistrate s decision to bring the barbarian
girl back to her own Place, has far reaching implications for himself, and
subsequently positions him upon his return to the frontier, in the role of the Other:
There is not one face among them that I recognize, their eyes are stony, they do not
answer my questions but march us back like prisoners through the open gates
(Coetzee, WftB 82). During his incarceration, the Magistrate has ample
opportunity for self reflection, or more eloquently put his self recriminating
psychology; I wanted to do what was right, I wanted to make reparation: I will not
deny this decent impulse, however mixed with more questionable motives: there
must always be a place for penance and reparation (Coetzee, WftB 88). The old
Magistrate feels like he is turning into an animal and eventually escapes from
captivity, but having nowhere else to go he returns to his cell. Finally, Colonel Joll
returns from his military expedition into the barbaric lands, bringing back twelve

However the constructor sector has been affected disproportionately since the
recession of 2008 and the gross value added (GVA) of the sector has been reduced
from 8.9% in 2007 to 6.8% in 2011. Despite the recession in 2012, which was the
third in five years, U.K s construction sector is still one of the largest in Europe

45. American Auto Industry And The Environment Essay
American Auto Industry The Environment
The American auto industry has faced several challenges in the recent years. GM
was the world leader in car sales for years. However in 2007, Toyota passed GM in
market share to become the automotive industry global leader. ( Toyota Passes
General Motors to Become
World s Top Auto Seller | Fox News , 2007) This was the start of issues for the
American auto industry. The start of the issues emerged with a sharp rise in gas
prices. The rise of gas prices caused the revenues of the American companies, who
were heavily focused on trucks and
SUVs, to plummet. In addition, the high gas prices made consumer s focus shift to
fuel efficient cars. After years of poor sales, the federal government took over GM
and Chrysler in March
2009. (Amadeo Amadeo, 2016) Although gas prices fell, consumers continued to
demand high mpg cars and trucks. The most recent issues involve the environment.
Global warming has created a shift in global concern for the environment. This started
the environmental issues for the auto industry
Fuel Efficiency
In 1975, the United States government passed the Corporate Average Fuel Economy
(CAFE).
The CAFE standard set fuel economy standards. In 2011, these standards were
upgraded to force automakers to improve fuel economy. The average fuel economy
for cars must improve from the current 27.5 mpg, where it has been since 1990, to
37.8 mpg by 2016. The truck standard has to rise from 23.5 mpg to 28.8. ( How

46. The Poverty Cycle Of Poverty
Children are said to be the future of America, but what if their future is lined up for
them already because they are stuck in a cycle of poverty? The Panel Study of
Income Dynamics (PSID) collects information on the social and economic status of
families and their offspring every year. The National Center for Children in Poverty
used a PSID study that found that individuals who grow up in poor families are
much more likely to be poor in early adulthood. Moreover, the chances of being
poor in early adulthood increase sharply as the time spent living in poverty during
childhood increases (Wagmiller and Adelman). The poverty cycle consists of a
family in poverty which then leads to a child who grows up in poverty. Said child

Poverty and education are inextricably linked, because people living in poverty may
stop going to school so they can work, which leaves them without literacy and
numeracy skills they need to further their careers. Their children, in turn, are in a
similar situation years later, with little income and few options but to leave school
and work ( Poverty and Education ). The National Center for Children in Poverty
sponsored a study that found that in families whose income falls below 200 percent
of the Federal Poverty Line, scores are far below the national average in reading,
math, and general knowledge tests (Jordan). Subsequently, poverty ridden families
live within the same neighborhoods and, thus, the surrounding schools follow the
trend of not receiving enough money and the inability to facilitate the students with
the best teachers and technology to learn.
Not only do children who are facing hardships at school and are behind grade level
have a hard time getting into college and/or getting jobs, they also do not have the
resources to learn how to be a good competitor for jobs. For first generation college
students, embarking on a career path is like entering foreign territory. They may not
know how to choose a career path, write a resume or interview for that first job.

47. Causation Of Major Depressive Disorder ( Mdd )
There could be numerous factors that could lead to the causation of major
depressive disorder (MDD). These different factors could also be linked with one
another depending on the particular individual suffering with the mental illness.
Fava and Kendler proposed that there are four major risk factors associated with
MDD, these include; gender, stressful life events, adverse childhood experiences
and certain personality traits (Fava Kendler, 2000). For an individual to have
experienced a major depressive episode specific symptoms must last for a duration
of at least two weeks where the person experiences depressed moods and showcase
a lack of interest or pleasure in the majority of activities. In young adults and
children the mood may seem more irritable than depressed, however this is not seen
across all individuals. People suffering from this depressive state will also have to
experience at least four additional symptoms for it to be classed as MDD, these can
include; Fluctuations in weight; changes to the individuals sleep pattern, and
psychomotor activity; feelings of worthlessness or guilt. Individuals may also find it
difficult to think, concentrate, or to make decisions. Recurrent thoughts of death and
/or suicide are also typical symptoms that an individual might have when suffering
with MDD (DSM IV, 2005). There are a variety of different approaches for the
treatment of MDD one being the psychodynamic approach. This seems to focus on
the assumption that an
